For MLB, moving the All-Star Game is a financial whiff

"On in the world of baseball, some of it somehow connected to politics. The MLB chose to move their All Star game from Atlanta, Denver the problems with that there's a lot of them first. Denver has a lot of different rules that George I just put in place that make it confusing as to why you'd move the game from one place to another place when photo ideas required when you can't give out water to people. In line and you're unless you're further than 100 ft away and wearing paraphernalia that's connected to a political party. There's a lot of things, but more importantly than that is the amount of revenue. It's gonna be lost by four Atlanta at a time when they need it, and nothing stings worse than hearing the guy in the other place, celebrate the fact that they're not gonna have an All Star game. This is what it sounds like. When you're the mayor Denver you step up. You're like, Hey, we're getting all star game. This is awesome National stage this July, right here in our city and to once again showcase Denver to the rest of the country. It's been a long year. And I can think of nothing more energizing to help advance our recovery and to boost our economy, then by bringing the 2021 Midsummer Classic back to the mouth, High city It's just It's just crazy that that's gonna be referenced time to get the amount of money it's going to come in, is also very significant here hosting this event. Is about so much more than the home run Derby or the game itself. There will be plenty of week of events activities for the whole family throughout downtown Denver. And volunteer opportunities for nearly 2000 people. And those benefits are far beyond will last far beyond July. By some estimates, this event will mean more than $100 million impact to our local economy.

Denver Mayor Boasts About Hosting All Star Game Moved Out Of Atlanta

"League Baseball's decision. I wonder how people in the Atlanta area how people throughout the state of Georgia People who love the state of Georgia feel About the mayor of Denver, bragging about all the revenue the Denver is now going to collect because of Major League baseball's dishonest Duplicitous messaging, pretending that the Georgia law suppresses votes and moving the All Star Game out of Atlanta. Listen to the Democrat mayor of Denver. Michael Hancock. Hold the steam this event. Is about so much more than the home run Derby or the game itself. There will be plenty of week of events activities for the whole family throughout. Downtown Denver and volunteer opportunities for nearly 2000 people. Those benefits. Are far beyond I will last far beyond July. Some estimates this event will mean more than $100 million impact to our local economy. That's incredibly good news for our small businesses are restaurants or hotels and our workers. We have struggled and suffered through this pandemic. It took a true team effort to get to this point. That's like that's like somebody trolling. The world. That's a troll. It took a team effort. No, it took a gutless, spineless instead of executives that Major league Baseball didn't take any team effort on your part. What team effort? Did you put it? And his family. Mr Mayor, What do you say to the black business owners and the workers? And the hard working people in Atlanta who are now gonna lose all that revenue because of this ill fated decision. MLB All-Star Game Moved Out of Atlanta

"Big announcement from georgia major league baseball moving. It's twenty twenty one all star game out of atlanta georgia in reaction to the state's controversial new voting law on friday. Major league. baseball made a move. That caught many people off guard and reignited a very charge debate. Then league commissioner said today that moving would be the best way to demonstrate our values as a sport major league baseball to fear last from liberal atmosphere. Absolutely art in the major league baseball has selected denver and the colorado rockies as the new home for the summers all star game today amid all the noise surrounding the decision. Evan drellich breaks down. When actually drove. Commissioner rob manfred to move the game. This wasn't about the commissioner of thirty mostly white republican billionaires waking up and saying. We're gonna have a new moral compass today. Mlb wasn't trying to make this great political stan. Rather it felt that he was going to make a political stand either way from wondering in the atlantic. I'm under sculptor. it's wednesday april seventh. And this is billy so even before we get into the controversy. Can you just remind what was the original plan for the twenty twenty one. Mlb all star game. Who's going to be a smooth calm week down in atlanta georgia where you would have the all star game. The home run derby the draft and basically a week of fan festivities around all those events. Henry was amanda greece manner patients after the passing henry aaron to to have the game in atlanta where he spent so much of his career was going to be a special part of it that you would have not just the game but this chance to commemorate one of the great heroes of the support of all time but will always be grateful for you showing all of rush how to chase our dreams.

"Maybe they are trying to build for the future and casten here it could be again like how Marin Cada is what the white sox and how diverse with the red sox kind of worn those forefront guys in these on these. Teams that have young guys young players that are not experienced not matured, and as a result you know you get the, you get a six and fifteen start like the red sox have or whenever you give it a couple of years and you could flip that around very very easily, and so I think hasn't here is going to be somebody for the brewers that is going to definitely get it going sooner rather than later. So the way I would re rank this ranking. would be if you know if it were all based off of career so far and potential, I have to put cody bellinger at first too strong of a hitter to ignore and to not put at first not to mention an MVP. So he would be first on my list and again I'm basing this off of careers and and potential. So it's both button the forefront as careers. No question number two, one, Soto next to Carl Lewis being sick I think you know this was the next legitimate ranking from MLB DOT COM number three Fernando Totti's junior no question a top three player. If he puts together an MVP or at least has a three hundred plus season, he will be in the conversation with these three guys for years to come and really I mean. Yet this year is better than Belcher. Yeah. I will say that one hundred percent but I think that we're going off overall career performance and what they've done leading up to this I, think cody bellinger has just done way more than Fernando Totti's has and again. You know good two three years younger than him and has not been in the League as long. So he's got some room to grow and some room to improve, and he could surpass bellinger in the NHL in the NFL west number four. Boba. Shat. Great Bat a lot of potential I, really like what I have to have seen out of. Number five Ronald the junior ruge fielder really hit her and he has a lot of room to grow and he's on a very talented team. So again, we'll bring more attention to him and I think that we all him all these Ozzy. Obvious. There was another guy that was left offer. This list that I think could have made it also because again, he's another very good young player for the braves but Ronald Kunia junior he's fantastic. So I'd have to spite him in at number five, number six kyle, Lewis I like the spot he's at six. I think he could go up even higher if he keeps up putting the numbers, he has number seven Raphael. Denver's although he is struggling I think he would be a great player for years to come no question about it. Number Eight. Hazies Lazardo young star for the athletics has already pitched. Well, this year he's gotten some reps in you know last year too. So He's getting started in his career, which is always a great sign especially at with how young he is number nine Dustin. May I mean Great Combo of strikeouts mixed with ground out from this guy? which is always a deadly deadly Combo and the number ten rounding out the top ten Yawn Mocatta I mean I. Think this is a potential. He has the potential to be a star in this league and is already well on his way and I, think that you know yeah it might not be not might not be the year. He's happy he had last year that he's having this year but still I mean to be twenty five and still doing as well as he is and that he showing a sign of improvement at I mean he's on the Up and up for sure. So those are the ten best young players I feel in the league right now in players who would make a big impact down the road and really the future of the MLB. So that'll wrap it up for this segment folks. Thanks for sticking around. Stay right there because we'll be right back after this commercial break for the final segment today where I will run through my top homerun. Derby. Over the last ten plus years and which ones I have very fond memories of watching..

"Boston was only able to put up to in that top of the ninth. But at that point it's too. Late for the RED SOX and Boston continues to struggle I mean, six fifteen. This is one of the worst starts at I've seen Boston have I. Think probably my lifetime really Yankees again, they're jumping all over teams. Oh, they're fourteen and six now clint frazier had five RBI's on the. So I mean you're factoring in one guy had almost urge just about half of your offense. That's pretty good that is really really good evolving moves to one and two he got the laws he's really been struggling in. Evolve is your top pitcher in your rotation right now with a five point, nine, three era I mean he's probably the first option for them right now that's not a good sign that is not that's not a good thing to have you know sales continue to recap from the Tommy John Surgery price four, Celera both gone. So you're losing a lot of pieces in that rotation that was at one point very strong. Dominant starting rotation that did a really really nice job for you know couple of years. Now, we're starting to see the effects of it of them not being around anymore, and Boston is now really starting to struggle I mean they are they're swimming at the bottom with the Blue Jays at this point and and the fact that the orioles and I can't believe the orioles are continuing to do what they've done to the orioles game and a little bit. But they're continuing to put up a lot of surprising numbers. They've got a lot of guys that are just been hitting the. Heck out of the ball and to Miami to Baltimore I mean again like the Miami Marlins I mean in general this twenty twenty year is very odd and I think that having Baltimore and Miami two teams that are in you know the first or second maybe third spot in their division that are usually at the bottom barrel of the division having them all of a sudden you know rise through the rankings I think he's just adding to the weirdness of twenty twenty but that's okay. That's all right and it's still you know a lot of fun to watch the unconventional teams. Kind of rise up and start doing their thing and start to play well, also next game Mariners Astros Astros come out on top two to one a really really close one Houston scored two runs early on they scored one in the bottom of the second scored one in the bottom of the fourth and Seattle scored on one in the top of the eighth. But that was really it. Yuli Gurriel, Solo home run was a big one for Houston It really good stuff out of Christian, Havi, air five ks in in six innings again, a team that you know they're. Kind of fallen on hard times a little bit I. Mean they've got Zach Frankie did pitch well, the other day in his debut on Berliners out though and is no longer with the team. So they've lost a good bit of the Dow cycles not around anymore either so I mean that's three really solid all-star if not cy young candidate players and they're all off your rotation and you used to have them at one point now, Zach ranking is still around. So that is a good sign that he's still there but good stuff out of Christian Havi Air Really Nice Job So Astros moved to ten and ten mariners seven fifteen I really thought that Seattle when they were about four, nine, five, nine that they were going to make a little bit of a run but I mean ever since then they've only won three games. So in three or two or three games so it has really not pay plan our panned out. Well, for them at all Houston moves to perfect or an even five, hundred, their ten and ten right now on the year again, they're not doing well, not they're not doing well at all having a really really talk year and I do I think that it has anything to do with the off season allegations in that whole scandal maybe. possibly. But I don't want to necessarily point the finger right at that I think it's also just a matter of you know altuve as not hitting well they'd say are I'd say you know having now Michael Brain leads been a bright star for them. He's been hitting the ball. Well, he's really been carrying the load. So his Carreira Bregman. Has, been. Struggling girls been in and out of the lineup. So I mean they've got some guys that have really been missing essentially that if the there have been missing in that they're play it's been missing from the lineup so they could start to turn things around here. I, mean twenty games into the season they still have two thirds of the way. To Go, they could make some miraculous turnaround. But then if that happens, it will make me wonder are going to be any people out there saying, Oh, I wonder if they're cheating Oh, I wonder if they're you know this the other I really don't think that they're going to go back to that way I think that they've they got caught. The cat's out the bag. They can't do anything about it. Now everybody knows it's out in the air. Everybody is aware of it just move on and we all get it that what they did was not right was not okay. But you know at this point, let's just move on with watching baseball. So we'll see if the are able to turn things. Around and their season next game warned US nationals and the Orioles continuing to rock and roll, and I can't believe I'm going to say this they are twelve and eight this year. Yes. They are twelve and eight. They beat the national seven to three and jumped out all over. Don't nationals score two runs in the bottom the first quarter runs in the. Bottom of second and put up runs in the bottom fourth-bottom sixth and bottom eight. So again, very spread out offense able to score in different innings throughout the entire game. Really good stuff out Pedro Severino Reno two run double for him and you know Carbon Guinea his first loss of the year he's got a three point nine, one era Gordon's. Like, keep mentioning he's he's a very good third option in a rotation. He's a very good third option a rotation especially with Strasbourg ensures being the main two guys in that. Top Five. Starting pitching Anibal Sanchez has really not been doing well I. mean he has been struggling would be an understatement He's been really really having a hard time this year. So again, having Corden, you know maybe starting to pick up the slack I mean getting the laws as always not a good thing..

Boston orioles Houston Astros Seattle Zach Frankie RED SOX clint frazier Yankees Miami Anibal Sanchez Baltimore Carreira Bregman Miami Marlins Strasbourg Pedro Severino Reno Michael Brain Yuli Gurriel baseball US

"Don't again I know I keep saying whatever it might be there something in the water I, don't know. If it's something that they're eating I have no idea but they're playing with an attitude of, Hey, we don't have a whole lot to lose and you know what? They really don't. Because when you think about it, they're young team they don't have a ton of star power. He's Zeigler has been a really big bright spot for them this year though And it's you know it's interesting to watch teams like the MARLINS kind of come out of nowhere you know and and that's I think what the beauty of baseball is that you have teams like the Marlins that. You know seemingly seem You know knock threatening. They don't really seem that they're not a glamorous looking team like the Yankees or the dodgers, but they're getting done and I that they're proving a lot of people wrong and they've they've added some pretty good players in the season like I mentioned Agla was a big pickup for instance, goes for Valley I know he's getting old but again, it's that veteran leadership that they're always looking for and I think that if you know if they continue to build, they continue to improve Brian Anderson he's a he's a he's a good bright spot for them. Also, he's only getting to forty five. This year but four homers, fourteen RBI's eight, ninety three. So pretty solid power numbers of him has not been hitting the last seven games. The only batting one, ninety, two from the plate with four, twenty, three slugging percentage. So his power numbers are down a little bit but don't let that fool you again, there's a lot of time left to play in the season I know that we're just about the halfway point still we have thirty or so games left in the season to to go on very freeman did not hit well, the plate one for four Marcello sooner only went one for three A. Little, bit of a struggle for Atlanta. But they were still able to come out on top getting that one run in the ninth top ninth inning. That was really the difference maker go ahead Run for them to come out on top over the Miami Marlins so good one for the braves. And the next game Tampa Bay and and Toronto That's actually a game that got suspended through four innings because of rain. So they're going to have to make that up on the raise out ahead of the Blue Jays. One nothing. And you know again. When you factor in the pandemic and then sometimes you do have mother nature coming in and doing her thing. Now you've got yourself you know an even bigger twisty because now you have even more games aren't going to have to be cancelled in going to have to make up more games But again, it's not that many. It's only one it a rain delay or was a rain out. So not a huge deal but again, one nothing right now in that one to bottom four game. So you know it probably be picked up eventually not quite a win, but I'm sure that will be resumed at. Some point or another next game athletics giants another you know West Division or a West west coast rivalry between the as and the giants at athletics continuing to dominate coming out on top fifty or seventy six, they moved to fifteen in six on the year giants continue to struggle though they're eight and fourteen and Oakland really did a nice job at sporting out their offense. They usually do you know to runs in the third a run in the six and then four runs in the ninth and San Francisco I mean they put up three runs both the fourth and the seventh? So there they they were. Up On top of the Oakland going into that ninth inning six to three and they blew the lead and they gave up four runs in the ninth. So I mean that's that's a really good sign. If you're Oakland not only are you dominating to start games are also able to put yourself out of holds that you might dig yourself and that is that there's nothing better than you. You know your back's against the wall you're going into the ninth inning and you've got three outs to do whatever you possibly can, and you're able to come out on top and you put up not only one runner to. Runs. But you put up four runs in that ninth inning. That's very hard to do you know usually at that point in the game, you're not seeing big four or five spots in endings and especially in that ninth ending. So good stuff out of the Oakland A.'s no question Mike? Scrim ski having you know another big day had himself a homerun he's hitting well for the giants he's really been a very promising player for them and really kind of I don't want to see the focal point because you know Donovan Solano has also been a a big piece for them but don't count out Mike's Krimsky. Of Pop in his Bat, he's twenty nine. He did come up a little bit later in his career. But sometimes when guys get called up later on in their career, they might wind up playing further into their thirties because they've got a little bit more experience the they've got a little bit more Like I said you know. Experience. But wherewithal end just kind of awareness as a player and a lot more smarts as as an athlete as well. Somebody that has been season's been around the block, a couple of times and being able to have somebody like that. That's always a great great thing. Especially for this giants team that does have a lot of young guys on their team for the most part. So Solano and you give really been holding down for San Francisco. But they're gonNA obviously need a little bit more help you know they can't just do it to people So seventy six in that final. Oakland. Continuing to dominate this year next one. Really the greatest rivalry in baseball opinion yankees red. SOx. Yankees. Coming out on top eleven to five and this was a nice back and forth game Yankees scored to the bottom of the first. Boston scored three in the top thirty Yankees answered with two in the bottom of the fourth and they put up seven runs between the sixth and seventh inning four in the bottom six three in the bottom seven..

"A stunning finish on the double play off the bat of the former dodger manny. Machado as the dodgers hold on at pet, go to win seven six, they win the series as well over the Padres, two games to one John Shea Jim Russell back with you here on the wrap up show, we said the padres lead baseball by the way and runs per game last. Last segment. They entered the day third in runs per game at five, and a half runs per game on the season and against scored six runs here today. So they've been very, very good offensively. But again, with the loss, they fall to seven and six on the season. Let's hear from the manager who was jacked for the first time in his career. Here's Jay Taylor game. Yeah, it's always good to see. You know the guys continue to battle and. You. Know we've we. Kind of felt that you know inside the. In the DUGOUT when we've been down never really feel like we're out of it and you know get get the heart of the order up and chance to you know always be in the game and. You know look at the end Mandy you know squared a ball up to to left field and and They made a hell of a play I. Mean it was A. Had to be you know a perfect throw and it was a perfect one hop throw and a intact. So but dancer question Yeah. It's. It's good to see him battling back and chip away and. You know we. You know we we came up short. Your first managerial ejection tonight. That's something that had been building up over the course of the game with Margaret Mature, as more of a spur of the moment reaction to that dish. Now. It's a, it's not built up minutes. Look. I think manny thought the ball was down I. thought it was down and. You know it either I go with me and he goes I'm guessing. So it's simple as up. Your thoughts on how? To. Handle. I thought you know Came in You know we were looking for a little softer landing but. The NFL west, there's there's no soft landing especially with the dodgers and. looking for a spark and. He gave up to ground balls got through and and then obviously Peterson clicking man you know. Peterson Click a couple balls tonight. You know and. But but I was impressed with how he went back out in the second inning and. I thought that was good and it's always nice to kind of You know finish on a on a higher note, and hopefully he gets some confidence and you know continues to go forth. Interesting admission there from JAS Tingler. We were hoping for a softer landing for Luiz Patino. Remember we heard yesterday literally yesterday when he was called up, he would not initially be pitching and high leverage spots. He makes his Major League debut, not not with the lead, but trailing four too. So you could argue the leverage component of it, but Jim again, he went left left right left with the VP that a left-wing cory seager who's read hide Jock Peterson three homers in the series including the homerun again. Again Against Patino and again, you're going to have to get him at one point or another. If you call them up, there's a reason you call it Emma but Jeez in the history of big league debuts, can it be much more difficult for Patina than the inning he had to deal with there could not have been more difficult. You're facing an MVP facing the guys at thirty six bombs last year who was notorious for being i. mean you saw in the home run Derby last year he. Is. Ball's. Chris Taylor their professional hitter. It's not an, there's no easy ways to face the dodgers especially in a four two game. You put him in there hopefully to have Jason, Taylor said this thing and there by the way it's four nothing before with two outs, TAT tease homers. So all of a sudden the dynamic of the game has changed it's chain, but but seniors already ready like you've already said he's GonNa Pitch the sixth, right? Like you wonder again at four nothing there you go. Down seven nothing whatever. But at fourteen like well, I'm back in the game and you don't want him to get up and then sit down again and I'm sure that's the reason why they put them in the game like look he's already ready. Maybe. It might be not the best time to put him in. But look, we just hit a two run bomb to to get us going hopefully and putting a guy in there where he is one of if not the top prospect on this in this organization, hopefully, we can get another spark on this guy route that is

"Right. Or when they have good ballparks, right? I mean Matt Olsen Ivy met Olsen similar. Let me pull up the names here and say who I say, like, like I recommended him in a Thursday, free agent blog recently and said, well, he could do pretty much what this guy can do CJ krone Vogel Bach or. Yandi D as crystal Walker. They're all kind of similar just kind of depends on the schedule, you can stream first base, if you want to actually. Iheart Matt Olsen. This is this is Adam Dunn's prime. I think coming, I think that's what the career is gonna look like more or less value now than it did. When Adam Dunn was doing less. But, but remember that in the especially the sabre metrically inclined leagues in the points leaks. Adam Adam Dunn the last player to be leading the league in home runs to get traded at that time. Wow. That, okay. Now, Edwin is next. Add winner prime done who has more value done winning traded. What's amazing about Edwin like he's obviously not gonna win a batting title base. But in home runs, RBI and runs scored. He's on pace to shatter all his career highs. And I don't see that stopping. He's never scored one hundred runs before and even be about six or seven for the Yankees. Like look who's batting behind him like other teams, cleanup hitters tours indeedy like oh, how many teams with DD touristy batting third and fourth about an eighth and ninth now for the aunties next week? And I argue watching him he hasn't had all that extraordinary season. I haven't been that wowed by what he's done, which tells you a lot about the home run environment nowadays. Yeah. I mean basically he's doing in line what he's been doing in the past. But now the different baseball helping him anyway. Anyway, going one for this rapid fire thing. Jesse Winker just turns twenty six August in Dennis deform, keeping her, cutting, I didn't expect this. I did think. Winker would would go pass twenty home runs. But I thought for sure he would bat for like two eighty because of his plate discipline..

"Did you mentioned to KOTA Hudson? He's good. I. I. I agree with you on that. He he's been pitching. Good pitching. Coaching with our grammar here, six six quality starts in a role but. I think he's right. Here is. But he's, he's not great. Davis is making a lot with a little, I feel like five years ago to Hudson would be a top twenty star like he'd be on the verge of that. We'd be looking at him and saying, wow, that's impressive. But it's just he's got a consistent and it's, it's really hard like if that Davies can do it. Anybody can do it. That's what I'm trying to say. Like, obviously, nobody had a shot this week in Denver to pitch. Well, but the only guy I did I saw this on the tweet like Luis Perdomo. I'd like five should I like how does that happen? Oh, yeah. The fring in and give spot starts with making followers. Oh, jeez. I carry ask, you know, it's like this the new norm. How many times do we see records set in terms of run-scoring are home runs, or the like, and then they repeat three pointers in the NBA? It's kind of just that moving in that direction. But this week I ninety two runs in four games, obviously, when we say the new norm, we don't. But, but seventy five and a four game series. Yeah. Not crazy anymore. All right. Let's get this. I'm not crazy hash. Not crazy. Mark wants to know if your interest level in Colin Moran is there likely adding second base elgibility soon. No, I could not care less hard pass. I mean, there's nothing there and second base is not that much weaker than third base, if it is at all. So I'm gonna say new. I don't care. I mean it's nice that he's adding eligibility, if you're an only league you're like, oh, no, I can move in the middle infield, but may Colorado end up hitting what sixteen home runs and batting, two sixties exciting, it matters. Like, look, I had to replace so in NFL labor this week, finally they demoted Brennan Rogers. Look, I finally, I'm glad they're not gonna play on the modem and they didn't wait until after Monday's deadline. So I got to pick up somebody. So I can I have all these players like as much auto I can move around second or third, but I had nobody I could put in there on my bench. So I had actually signed a guy pick up a guy and I got Sean Rigas, who's now, apparently new third baseman for the Phillies. But. It would have been nice to have like another player who could be moved around six outfielders there. So I couldn't move any of the Al theaters to an infield spot. If I could move onto corner, I could've gotten away with us so Moran could have been the puzzle piece that helps in this situation. But he's not the guy you're going to get in order to lead you to believe in something better. I have on reserved Smith who I'd like to activate, but I can't there's no room his the guy's got a two hundred and fifteen point split in his career Murray's. He's a platoon player. This is launch isn't hall, and Matt Joyce, trying to think of few other, that's what it looks like to me to like he just can't hit lefties, maybe someday. He will. But. At the weeks, they're playing a couple of games against week, or pitchers in the right park, or against a bunch of righties. There's probably something there. What's next a few questions here we're gonna go quick. Rapid fire here on players if you need to hold onto them or not Ian have any fantasy relevance. No, not at all. I lean to that. Yeah. Bradley Zimmer now now metals this here. Matt olsen. Yes. I mean that's at the top twenty first baseman, but not a top ten first baseman. But there's a lot of guys like meddlesome that are gonna hit twenty five home runs and to sixty. So I mean with guys like that. I just kind of take when they're hot or when they when they had the schedules..

"Tony Kemp Kevin pillar Christian yelich, and Eric themes, or the four players who had combo meal since our last show. Probably not much to say about camp Palomares just a batting average on base drag, but he ended up with fifteen in homers, fifteen steals yelich currently leading the league in home runs and stolen bases. Last time that happened seems awfully rare to me, and Eric Fame's, who I mean he's just is not turning it around. He's thirty five home. Runs last season. And now he's available and every league amazing. It is. And they're using them pretty smartly. They worked him in here initially from the, the righty lefty platoon going on with Aguilar. And I think we're gonna see more of times if you keeps this up and yellow, just showing no signs of stopping what he's doing his, his numbers over the last, like what hundred six games like fifty something homers in two three seventy batting average, like Anne running like he doesn't even need basis. And he's doing it. It's amazing. What he's like you're. Question about the, the league leader in both categories just because we think we're still in basis were, if you flash back twenty years ago, twenty plus years ago, it would be tough to do that. Ricky Henderson didn't have a prayer of doing what was the last time? Anybody led the league in both? I, I don't know. And we got a tweet today from our friend, Tom, the internet said that yelich top three in all five of the player raider categories, that's got to be something we've never seen before this. Would not be shocked. If trout had a year where he qualified as top five. I'd have to I'm gonna I'm gonna have to dig that one up. But it's gonna take a little time. All right. Let's move it on now. And let's talk about the closers in the carousel. Cavs. Okay, who do we need to discuss here? I car knows I think so because cross Martinez got two inning. Save on Sunday. But Jordan Hicks was was warming up Martinez just didn't throw that many pitches in the eighth inning. And it was the Mets there was like no threat at the bottom there lineup. Although they had pinch hitters coming up. I thought it was a bit odd. Like, why would you have Hicks warm-up warming up? It's not like hitching a game. But like I've seen it with the Phillies like penny Schick, a warm up and that they view that as an actual outing, I don't think Hicks is losing the job. I think it's I think he's still there closer, the now one of the things that makes me curious about Martinez, is that I know he has said and I do believe the cardinals have given hint to this that it's the rotation for him pretty soon, really. I just read this over the weekend, I'm trying to put This new. chart mentioned that he is expressed it. My understanding is at least, you know, and it's possible that people are passing on information, second hand and they're interpreting, interpreting his words for the teams words, but there are hints, that they're going to work and back towards the rotation in the second half. Do you drop way? Davis of the Rockies. That's the guy thought we would. Most. No, I think that was just one of those weird series and I think he's going to be alright on the road, but I, I am alarmed here, Scott over expen- fine behind him, you know, I mean it was just one of those weekends. Of course field they happen. I mean they shouldn't happen, but they do that was crazy. He was hit hard in the ninth inning. But again, it was like a golf ball pounding like a pinball machine. It was crazy. What was going on there? I still Wade Davis gets more than. Twenty five saves a season up to thirty see that happening. Like I've been saying for well over is better than Davis. But, you know, the Rockies don't care about that 'cause they're paid in that way. You know, when you pay those closer contracts, you gotta give him saves..

"And you've got a two hundred eight quality contact was extraordinarily. I'm extremely disappointed. When this, you know, we, we don't really talk about Castanos the way with divide and carpenter. But it's kinda the same not eating for power is not knocking anybody 'cause nobody on base for them, not a Walker. Not gonna forever and defensively my God. Did you see that play this weekend? Like there's just nothing there. So like Laurino had a good week. I probably missed the good week and we'll get it. Anyway, lots of names get to before we move on. So I'll go briefly here. Bauer shut out the Troy is more about Bauer or the Tigers. I'm going to say that's more about Bauer but I could see the case because if you said to me who which right handed pitcher, could do it reused on for the last two and a half months. Now can do that baron had that Chris Medlen second half. Yeah. He could. Yeah. Dominant righty, who strikes, everybody out and relax tonight looks amazing. I hate saying he's going to get hurt. I think you'll fall sort of thirty starts because the dodgers, don't need him to make thirty. They have a ten game lead. But man looks site. That's the Cy Young winner. He's gonna end up like seventeen and four with a one eight year or a and win the Cy Young. That's what I think's going to happen over, like twenty eight starts to your point about the dodgers. They are considering throwing a guy in there this week. So it does signal. They're always thinking about giving extra rest of their pitchers going back to the Indians because I wrote this forecaster. I wonder whether the return of Mike cleven jer coupled with what's in outrageously? Good hitting schedule could begin to build some team wide momentum there. And if that is the case that could also be what sparks Bowers hot streak. I, I have nothing to quantify that, but what if they're like a game out of the wildcard, they're not giving up. That'd be. I'm not. Yeah. And I'm not suggesting that they would give up. It's just that this is a perfect opportunity for them to begin role in that big snowball down the hill. All right. Injuries Noah Syndergaard with a right hamstring strain. It doesn't sound too serious. They have no reasonable replacement. So I think it's only probably one week and then by next weekend, he's probably back again. You do not drop. Syndergaard in. Any league. I don't think Kyle Hendricks right shoulder inflammation. That's a little bit different. Not a leg. He goes on the injured list, they're saying with him also probably only one start if you've been relying Hendrix, you should continue to, but advert as little Alzola, young right-hander, skinny Ryan or could make his debut Corby Tyler shower for Kyle sake. But like I would like to see what he can do any thoughts on these guys LA was pretty disappointing last year. And also dealt with some injuries, but it's been a lot sharper AAA. So I think he's an interesting arm and considering out tough. It is to fill the pitching spots this year certainly worth a flyer not in our standard game. But in anything, deeper really hundred pants and no members have MRI appointments for today for leg injuries Pence's groin. Czars a hamstring. I think I'd rather roster Pence. The Missouri, wouldn't you? I know it's crazy because of his age. But as ours, having another one of those boring twenty home run seasons where the two six. Batting averages. Nobody's expect anything's going to change. Well Pez already fifteen home runs and his batting three hundred. Now they're both going on the injured list. I think Willie Calhoun will come up your thoughts here. If I said to you Pence Mazaar Willie Calhoun for the rest of the season would hurt rusher cheese. Well, that's a fair. Drop either of those guys everywhere. And that's that I've had one league. It's Chris Taylor. I couldn't get anybody else. I got outbid another league. It was outscored who did nothing last week like we'll Hoon or Penser Missouri. I think you can make the case Calhoun, here, you can I could really make the case for any of these and I would love to chase the hot streaks by the opportunity..

"But it's an improvement regardless of the moving down in the lineup thing. I mean it was gonna move down anyway, just because as you mentioned, Aaron judge, John Carlos Stanton are on the way. Back it had nothing to do with wins trade. It does create a little bit of a line of clutter problem, just because the ankles, do like to throw one of the outfielders into the D H spot, so wins gonna lose a couple of starts here and there, but he gets a ballpark bump. The bottom line is people think of Yankee Stadium as a great Homer venue for left handed hitters. It's also very good for righties to do by the way. I don't know Eric if you've looked at the park factor page here for the Enke's this year. Yankee Stadium has been quote leaning pitching friendly this season which shows by one year park factors are ridiculous. Pass five years, number three Yonki stadium. In terms of home runs for right handed, batters T mobile park. Seattle was blow average one at ranked seventeenth in that category. So it's a nice plus for him. I don't I don't look at park factors when it's just this year for two months. I do a five year early to three I usually use like three years. But, like I have a feeling I know what, which parts are good and which parts are not good for whatever we need out of him. So Edwin moves on Seattle doesn't have a reasonable replacement that anybody in fantasy would want. When it comes to Clint Frazier now, you know, he was the number forty six outfield over the past thirty days number sixty five I think for the season. So it's not like you were relying so much on him that him going to the trip. Aaa is gonna kill you. But like I view this the way I do like catching Huron and Brennan Rogers ridiculously wasn't played by his team this happens the young players. Nobody can argue that Fraser's better than Edwin and neither has defensive acumen. So what happens the Frazier now, I don't think they're going to train him anytime soon. They could he could be in Madison, Bumgarner trade or Trevor Bauer trade, I suppose, but if you've got Frazier, just move on, right? Yeah. And I think you mentioned Bauer and Bumgarner I think that's the instance in which he would get traded to another team and that's going to benefit everybody in terms of him getting regular playing time. This is just a matter of the aunties would prefer playing every day in AAA than to be playing twice. Maybe three times a week in the majors and I don't blame them for that. So he simply going to be a call up if another injury happens, and it could because of Stanton's history. I know he's been relatively healthy the previous two years before this, but his career has been full of injuries. So it's not inconceivable that Frazier could return here and be meaningful for you. But I wouldn't count on it. He's now the odd man out very clearly make sense and it does make sense. And I'm sure he's not happy. But that's the right he's not happy. Clear is not happy. You know, a lot of us weren't happy with urine Brennan riders, either. You know, I mean this is what happened the youngsters. Okay. So the Rockies Padre series if if this is what baseball is going to be like, I'm not gonna complain today show. But if this is what baseball is going to be like, we have to reevaluate how we view fantasy because I mean, we would never roster Rockies pitcher ever. Like even they're closer scored ninety two runs. And that four game series. Charlie black was fifteen out of twenty four. Is that correct? I mean he unbelievable week and power and the number two player for the week was in Desmond who still valuable in more than half VSBN's leagues. So like, do you view anything differently? I seems like the golf balls been bouncing a little bit crazy over the past couple of weeks as opposed to the first two months of the season. I don't know if the baseball is different or not. But your thoughts on this rocky series? It was fun..

"Their Father's Day trip tonight, soon, it was a good one for you. It was a nice if we had a perfect, no rain day. But, you know, it's pretty solid had its opportunities hope it was enjoyable to yes, it was fine. What have been nice by team didn't allow fifteen runs to the Tino chasing an standings. But that's okay. That's the way things are. Hey, I'll tell you this month. Our teams have not been exactly the most stellar, by the way, quality review, call on Saturday night. But is that the review call by your manager? I've been watching a little your team this weekend. Well, everyone's gonna be watching your team because they made a big trade this weekend, we're going to get to that, and big demotion, which, you know, it's fair a little bit later on. Of course, we've got everybody slugging Dennis ridiculous. Injuries promotions condom closers mirrored has browse here's the buzz. All right. So Edwin Encarnacion is a new member of the New York Yankees. He will be the everyday designated hitter and the first tweet I got about the trade was should I drop Luke Voight? And I wanted to reply come on. It's a matter with you, but look losing any playing time but I do want your taking fan because Giancarlo Stanton comes back on Tuesday. Aaron judge could be before the all star break. And that line of is ridiculous. They're gonna have gleyber Torres batting ninth indeed Gorey's eighth. That's crazy lineup. I've never seen a lineup so deep, I know that's absurd. But, but to be fair like Voight has been batting second in doing the job. He's probably going to drop down to like fifth or six and incre Nacional has been batting third and Seattle or fourth might bat six or seven th so, but I still like Edwin more now in Yankees gear than I do in Seattle, don't you? I do. I mean it's not by leaps and bounds..

"A so it's friday and we know that means end of the show on the west coast you guys are just getting out of work and you're ready to par on the east coast you got the wind flow in your jenkins of cherry vodka and diet and you're ready to open up your app and look around you know in honor of what you guys are gonna do tonight which is let's face it open tender and find a low partner we are going to do a little not necessarily sports tender got so much of this if you missed it earlier check it out on the podcasts we've already had some sportscenter we're going to have even more and we're going to start unfortunately in the jabe that's right a big baller brand remember all the teams are known as the baller so the chicago ballers head coach edward denard shoved headbutted and cursed at a player during one of the jv games on thursday told him to stop being a b word and and guide up in that group so sarah i'm gonna start with this one and i'm going to say that i swipe left and it look i'm out you know it i've talked about it i'm all about edgy coaching i'm all about pushing people to their limits but i'm not about a coach getting into a kid's grill and punching him in the chest which is essentially what he did and then name calling there's got to be a line at some point so i'm out on this one yep i'm going to swipe left i completely agree with you there's absolutely no place for a coach to put his hand on a player we talk about this a lot too when coaches expect their players to show the ultimate in restraint and self control on and off the court and they themselves are not able to control themselves also side note i'm shocked i tell you that something run by lavar ball would have such loose standards for coaching and would somehow result in misogyny that is clearly seen via liberating i'm downright shock and of course you know he's going to handle discipline to this the robbery away right we we know that so we will go to our next topic as speaking of home runs you've been talking about the homerun derby we'll our pool halls is seventy away from seven hundred now has this wondering the eighteen year veteran do you think he's got the gas in the tank left to get himself to seven hundred sarah well he just passed by ken griffey junior and he's doing amazing things still he's at i want to say about twenty three home runs this year maybe sixteen now twenty three last year thirty one the year before i'm sorry and so i looked up some of his stats and he's thirty eight years old any probably if he keeps up the current run so the last couple of years you've been hovering between twenty and thirty ish he would need four more years to do it and i don't know if we're going to get four more super productive years out of him so unless he really gets on fire this year i'm going to have to swipe less swipe left all right all right and you know what we are totally like we're we're one mind tonight on supports tinder is i am also going to swipe left i did have some cause for pause here and that's the fact that you said you know when you talk about the home run numbers obviously seventy short and that feels attainable especially considering he does have sixteen this year which is a bit of a resurgence twentythree last year he's on pace to do better than that and in the current baseball environment where feels like everything's a home run i wanna give him the benefit of the doubt but i just i'm not comfortable betting on an athlete at his age so i have to look at it and say even the worl rooting for it i don't think it's going to happen so our next topic as a little bit less to do with what's happening on the field.

"Country and you know we have three young kids and the kids wanted to go prospect country and then i started thinking about him like man how miserable would that be after you know i'm five six weeks into this thing and it's just you're stuck in these trailers and and you know for someone who's you know always likes to get up and go and whatnot i'm like you know what i have an idea like why don't i swim bike and run across the country and in doing so like our whole thing my wife and i always really passionate about this is that you know kids right now ninety seven percent of kids no longer have everyday physical education seventy percent of kids do zero after school us activity programs seven hours a day the average screen time then that kids are spending a right now obesity rates since the nineteen eighties when i grew up have have tripled i it's it's disturbing and i you know alternately for someone who grew up blown adhd as you guys probably can't tell here i i i'm pretty much like physical activity saved my life and the importance of physical activity i as far as i'm concerned is everything because the being able to do that basically stimulates the frontal lobe and allows me just even you know seem clearly on a daily basis sort of thought that we're taking that away from kids in my in my opinions absolute joke so we're going to do everything in our power pretty much we started foundation called the let them play sunday shen and we had our first event in san francisco the other night or kick off that and we delivered a twenty five hundred dollars check the junior giants and as we go across the country you know swimming biking and running we're going to stop it ballparks along the way in kind of use that angle but go into these cities in deliver checks to youth activity we're going to asians that just promote kids getting outside and in in plain so we're gonna start the twenty second swim the san francisco bay seven miles ride from oakland to chicago twenty four hundred miles and then i'm gonna run from chicago new york eight hundred fifty and that kind of the whole idea to to get people to to come and join and join in on the bike join in on the run and design as the where they can do this right walked two miles in your lifetime all know this is this is awesome you guys get more information on twitter at lt pf.

"That they want to put their league and the rest of their guys on their back and make a stand and they're big enough and aaron rodgers type right to try to do so and i don't know if it's realistic for every player to have fully guaranteed every contract but the nfl of all leagues should be the one that has guaranteed contracts and i think they should fight for more than they fought for anything well and i don't disagree with it i think it is worth fighting for i mean alternately i think is much as we look at aaron rodgers i think right now it can be fought for in a bigger global way and i hate to say this because it would affect my beloved raiders but the fact is khalil mack is ms holding out right now and is a defensive player of the year candidate player aaron donald for the rams is a defensive kennedy defensive player of the year candidate those are two of the best defensive players in the nfl they could hold out and say you know what i'm only gonna sign for something fully guaranteed three year guarantee they could do what kirk cousins did and all of a sudden the conversation wouldn't just be about quarterbacks it would be about the nfl as a whole and how it affects everybody they could make it less about the position you play and more about your greatness if you agree that that's the goal but what i'm saying is in order for the nfl or anyone to care and not just say who will great sit out we don't care it needs to be a player that has the kind of power that aaron rogers says maybe i think that aaron donald i think donald and mac have that power defensively i mean i think that they are great enough players that if they actually sat out and said guaranteed contractor or i don't sign both of those teams would be hamstrung they the rams and raiders respectively would have to do it i i just think that unfortunately it's not a piece that that everybody in the league across the board is passionate about and even again i'll go back to the conversation with damian damian believes that the the league in the players in the league are actually substantially more passionate about lifetime healthcare that is the piece right that they actually care about and to point that out to everybody a lot of people don't realize this but you have to play in the league for certain amount of time and then you get healthcare for five years i think when you make a two year three year the commission rights then you get you get right exactly roger goodell forever your blood pressure is very high from being challenged much and the rest of them you play three years then you get vested into five years of healthcare after that you don't get health care and it's hard to find a company that will even right you so to gig hosting condition i'm sure i'm sure of a thousand percent so then.

"The espn app so you mentioned earlier that nfl players are sitting back and watching these nba contracts role and thinking to themselves hold up how are these guys getting these massive deals all of which are guaranteed by the way while we're playing this incredibly dangerous context sport that at any moment we can be cut and stripped of the money that at one point we were essentially promised and todd gurley of the rams suggested on thursday that a bunch of the players in the nfl are looking out at these deals and saying we're just mad i want eighty million those guys are getting a hundred and fifty million and we've seen a couple of different players fits on social media's recep up and either give release smart and involved accounts of why there should be more guaranteed or fully guaranteed money in the nfl or simply just saying that they think that they're cba was not negotiated to the benefit of their players and that they could be and should be making money closer to what we see in the nba and that they should fight for it what do you think well damien woody and i had this argument on i take recently in this discussion i should say we didn't really have an argument on it and he constantly points out look there's four hundred and fifty players in the nba they're seventeen hundred players in the nfl the roster sizes are larger guaranteed contracts or one of those things we have an eye on and the girls are the world are right but do we really believe we're going to reach a world where suddenly the the backup left guard is going to get a guaranteed contract for three years i mean that's that's asking a lot from the players and frankly while todd gurley and big name players that would be guaranteed contract eligible type players continue to yell about it i don't see the reality of them planning for it because it will take a lockout it'll take a strike that lasts probably a year to get that and that's what players have told me that it's going to take that kind of a strike to do it in order to do that they need a slush fund right now and some of them i've talked to have talked about this they would only be putting in to a kitty where everybody can continue to get a salary week in week out for a year because you're going to ask everybody to take no money and believe it or not there are a lot of nfl guys that can't afford to make zero dollars for twelve months so they're not ready for this millionaire's taken on billionaires you're walking into the to the poker table you're walking up to the table and your stacks never gonna compete that's a reality for nfl players i know that they want this i know they can talk about it but the fact is todd gurley man i think you picked the wrong sport if you want that kind of money on guaranteed contracts you're going to have to be in the nba yeah i don't think it's as simple as saying throwing up our hands and saying that's not how it works though and i can't remember where was hosting with but but they seem to believe that that was the case that this was never going to change and i think that there's a real opportunity for nfl players to make that change we've mentioned before how it's really hard in the nfl to force the nfl's hand on anything major because it usually requires the players union and the players themselves to hold out and in the nfl where careers are so short that's really difficult and so i understand why some especially middle and lower level players are not willing to give up their tiny window to do that but there are bigger names and there are names that have longer contracts and longer lifespans namely quarterbacks who could take the lead on this and maybe they won't but maybe there is one player or several players who decide.

"If you haven't heard fica coming down on various broadcasts for focusing on female thins during their broadcasts finding attractive women in the crowds of games and settling the camera on them in a sort of leering fashion and they've found over thirty cases in certain match coverage of the hot female fan reliance and we'll get into why i think choosing to show a broadcast via what we call the male gaze wherein the audience is shown what either the analyst or the camera person is attractive two or drawn to instead of representing the match as how it's happening is dangerous but i i wanna play a little something from well cain and why he thought it would be useful to spend his show ranking the attractiveness of female fans of various countries spain vits sarahspain adjacent fits with you and here's will canes programming idea from earlier fiba said we have to stop showing pictures of attractive women it's causing sexism so what we've done if you've moved it over the radio where we will now talk about which fan bases are the most tractive okay so i'm going to go off at so if you want to say anything real quick i would do it now no no go ahead is this the implicate you in anything i say it may not be your opinion but maybe i'll say some stuff and then you can react that i want to hear what you have to say and yes and then i will chime in and respond this is for people listening who may not get why there's a problem with analysts talking about how attractive women are in the crowd around the court or on the field with camera operators finding and focusing only on attractive women during breaks and that's because too often in society women are told that our primary value rest and how others perceive our bodies and our attractiveness and that can relate to so many other different things there's been people out in russia there's a group called the fair network antidiscrimination group that's been working to monitor behavior out around the world cup games and they've documented more than thirty cases of women being accosted in the streets by mail fans while they're going to attend games or surrounding games and they think it's probably at least ten times as often as that that's just the documented ones we've all heard about the many cases where female reporters are being groped and kissed and mishandled assaulted while they're trying to report from the games if you think these two things are unrelated then you're being willfully ignorant because the way that we treat women and the way that we cover women's bodies as totally eclipsing their accomplishments or the reason why they're being seen on television whether because they're a fan and they're passionate about the game or because they are competing is how we decide that their value in society is always about how they look whether they're trying to do their job that still means that they are there is an object for you to grope or kiss or whether they're watching a game that still means that they're they're as being for you to admire to share your feelings with the audience even as you filter everything else when brent musburger is talking about some hot chick in the crowd that's his job is job is to talk about the football game so he's choosing not to filter out the sexual thoughts he's having and sharing them with everyone even if the audience isn't all straight white dudes who wanna know what a seventy plus year old man about a twenty year old woman and it wouldn't be as damaging if it weren't always just about women sure there's times when people say stuff like this about men but we don't have a record as stoorikhel record of the way we talk about men's appearances having a tangible effect on how they're treated at their job whether they get that job how much they're paid whether they are safe there are so many ways in which we do this to women affects every part of their life that if you try to joke it off and just say everyone's so lame it's such an insult to say you're beautiful this is a compliment is the same thing we say about cat calling a women why do you care some man whistles or says something to that's a compliment that means you look good if you're in the crowd of a game you should not be subject to some analysts or camera person ogling you purely because you exist and you live in.

"I seriously most stockists nickname is moose a nickname as malaysia of a better showing at the home run derby what a choker i got called a bag of feces by somebody by royals fan a bag of theses not merely feces an entire bag of it you know what they're seeing kc stands for choke don liver tarred digital of jokers wild sixty one percent of the audience said no you damn young people soaring with so much ignorance to guides you don't even know what we're talking about the jokers wild is the truth man stay woke these easy don lemon show with this two god's on espn radio ghirma put this on the poll plays at libertad show would you support deciding baseball games and extra innings with the home run derby thank you because i think i'm wits to god's on this for all of his fix baseball stuff baseball is notoriously reticent to change because it is our most historic sport and it takes pride in that history but when they went to the wild there was a lot of objection from purist bob costas and other others that has turned out to be a good thing they fix the home run derby by placating our lack of attention span and i think i'm wits to guts on this and on which the guts on this for this reason it's a hundred and sixty two games their way too many they've outlived their usefulness if you're gonna have too many games the argument against deciding it an extra innings the way that hockey does with shootouts or three on 3s and stop is that our or penalty kicks and baseball is that your mutating the sport you're not being in soccer yamin yes penalty kicks in soccer team.
