"This to know who would win. Matchup one of the cool things about it rain. I kinda understand this. Whoever wins has to have incapacitated their opponent in such a way where they could stay there for two minutes and have no threat whatsoever from their opponent from battlefield removal. They've been killed or they're tied up. Whatever it is in that iconic episode where a ufo sorry spoiler alert ufo kind of crashed onto homer. Sure enough he get crashed get smashed him but he got up about fourteen seconds about ten seconds really after therefore who would win style matchup. This thing is still up in the air. "He was daybreak by the time she had done speaking. So she dressed me in my shirt and cloak as for herself. She threw a beautiful light. Gus gossamer fabric over her shoulders. Fastening it with a golden girdle around her waist and she covered her head with a mantle. Then i went about among the men everywhere all over the house and spoke kindly to each them man my man you must not live steeping here any longer said i to them. We must be going for. Sursee has told me all about it and on this they did as i bathed them even so however i did not get them away without misadventure we had with us a certain youth named eleanor. Not very remarkable for sense or courage who had got drunk and was lying on the house top away from the rest of the men to sleep off his liquor in the cool when he heard the noise of the men bustling about he jumped up on a sudden and forgot all about coming down by the main staircase so he tumbled right off the roof and broke his neck and soul went down to the house of haiti's when i had got them in together i said to them. You think you are about to start home again but sursee has explained to me that instead of this we have got to go to the house of hades and prosper pena to consult the ghost of the thebigm prophet use. The men were broken hearted as they heard me and threw themselves on the ground groaning and tearing their hair but they cannot mend matters by crying when we reached the seashore. We being lamenting our fate sursee brought the ram and the you and we made them fast hard by the ship. She passed through the mist of us without our knowing it for who can see the comings and goings of god if god does not wish to be seen..

"Homer done left, took off the reason I've always working. So President Biden came against today and said the following that no, it's Well because An unemployed American cannot turn down a suitable job to take federal unemployment benefits. Okay? Maybe not initially. But what about all the people who were told were laid off when restaurants were shut down? Is one thing to claim unemployment When you're not unemployed. It's another thing to not go out there and actively pursue getting another job. And if Joe Biden thinks for one minute that people who are getting paid twice as much to be unemployed or out there, actively looking for another job, Sanchez the unemployment benefit is the enhancement. You know, seeing $300 a week this coming from the feds, It's the stimulus checks that air coming. It's one thing when you need it's another thing when it's just shoved in your face. Who wouldn't take it well, and here's the thing Who's Who's Who's going to go out there and trying to find another job as long as you're getting it. And trust me when I say because I've been unemployed, once or twice in my radio career. They don't really spend a long time and asking you questions about what you did to go out and try to find another job. No, the bureaucrats who work at it in the unemployment office. Really don't spend that much time working, not working in the unemployment office they have been for the last year. I think about that. Well that to think about all the bogus claims that came through his right. Do you think that's all they're looking for? This point are bogus claims. If you are, if you're unemployed, and you have not looked for work, and you say, you look for work good enough for them. 5, 11 time for traffic and weather together. What's that say I'm on Jimmy. We're going to talk to meteorologist Terry Smith from the weather Channel next, right? Yes, we are. I want you to ask her. Why? My hair is so frizzy. All right. You want the current humidity like I think I think you know what? What It's gonna be like today..

"Of stats about the game. And so i am going to just see the floor to why homer that somehow and i didn't think was possible can out homer even our home maria homer mike ryan heat home but i think he asks you if you watch the did not no. I did not watch the game you would have seen would. Pti in around the horn be talking about the heat who are fifteen and seventeen on. Should we leading with. They were talking about the celtics seventeen. He don't get the same. Respect may your praise be as loud as the criticisms. Billy and dan. If you would have watched you would have seen how wrong you are. That jimmy butler can't hit a long distance shatter keta me. Seventy five percent from three absolutely caring. Not jimmy shooting six percent from three over his last name games. I don't know if you know if you're paying attention to the problem is i'll tell you what my problem is. I did not watch the he'd give me you know what i was watching all. Yeah lebron his last nine games shooting nineteen percent from three. I'm still in love with him. You guys know it. I still love him. I've loved him across the decade. You guys can't handle it because you're homers who you love him one minute you hate him. You have the same relationship with him that students would have. Jj watt if he became a jet. I'm always going to be burned a little bit by the fact that he chose to leave us obvious slam always going to have a little bit of me. That that's hateful towards what lebron ripped away from me nine. He said he was supposed to be here the entire time. Anyone with cleveland. And then he'd be miami heat in the finals. I have to take the on now one. But i'm just generally bothered by how the media reacts the miami heat whether it's bubble fluke blah blah blah whether. It's the fact that they've missed their best players this season and we're taking that as confirmation bias not even allowing the season to play itself out. Guess who's now within two games of homecourt advantage in the nba playoffs the miami heat. The boys back then miami. The miami heat are back in the building and all took was winning. Four straight games all it took two games back of homecourt advantage like the entire league is two games back of homecourt advantage. There are two games under five hundred also on the jimmy butler note. He's hitting forever fifty seven percent from three. He's seven threes this season. Danilo gallinari hit ten last night In one game against the boston celtics at ten threes seven. I'm not allow me to take the teams ahead of being twelve in the east. Also allow me to take this opportunity to do one of my favorite things which is shitting on sixers fans who last week because i got aggregated once again in sixers one eleven is be cared top of the east okay. We're like six games back pleasing. That's that's a week all right. You're ben affleck and boiler room and sixers fan. The heat winning six games a week playing sixers a week. Finley made one of my tweet. I sent after the sixers were trailing. Oh two in a series. I was very clearly over. I sent that tweet saying sixers fans how we feel about the whole jimmy butler thing because they said jimmy butler went to miami to basically retire and he was going to a team that had no chance. At even making the play-offs let alone.

"Charge local Homer about you at I've been looking at it and wondering if I should go ahead and buy a book about hoping to be one of within the next two weeks because it is on the twenty eight thanks bye right looking at U. P. S. no personal service and I think everybody knows who you PS is the issue here is I I know you may be thinking oh well people are ordering online so people are going to ship things more and they're going to get more demand because of its well that's certainly true in some senses but they ship a lot of types of products not just products ordered online right so B. B. shipments for example the run large truckers in in the world so they have exposure all over the U. S. economy and technically they are very very weak that regular route roles change about fifty four which is about average but the the chart is below all the major moving averages and it looks very very poor they came out with earnings revenue revenues are still five percent earnings were down seven eighteen percent their their additional protocols in costs surrounding keeping workers and shipments sanitary and if that's going to weigh on them so I would pass on UPS I think will be a good company to own on the other side of this financial crisis this this recession but certainly not at the moment so I would keep on your watch list and it needs to be and I'll give you I'll give you a target on this seventy five dollars seventy five dollars right now we're at ninety two that's what I would think about buying it and if we're still in a deep recession I might even wait a little longer so until seventy five dollars I wouldn't even think about it eighty eight ninety nine chart it nine nine two four two seven eight let's touch lastly on ultra low yields and how that's likely going to impact your retirement planning now the fed is going to be pushing yields as low as possible really what they're their plan is at this point right maybe because negative the futures market is actually pricing in negative yields for Treasurys or for the fed funds rate later this year now Jerome Powell said they don't want to go negative they're probably just do marks you we monetize the debt which is kind of what they're doing now but these low interest rates are going away on returns for portfolios specially those with fixed income for some time now one of the biggest ways that you can make up for that is by delaying social security why is that well every year that you wait from age sixty two to seventy to collect social security you get an eight percent annual return and it is nearly impossible to get an eight percent annual turn with mortgage products right so you definitely want to consider waiting as long as possible on social security that's a kind of a given also refinancing but also paying down your mortgage number anything you don't every time you pay a little bit more in your mortgage or reduce the level of interest that you're paying you're guaranteeing that particular return so you definitely want to try to avoid as much interest as possible on that mortgage and then lastly is withdrawal right everyone thinks is the four percent is that withdrawal rate well it used to be that because you could earn forty five percent very easily very safely in US treasuries and you were touching your principal now you probably want to think about closer to the two or three percent level for you withdrawal rate so think about that when.

C. all money raised will be going to feeding America's covert nineteen response and I thought it's going to solve this you know so the weird shows are some of the shows that the come up now because this is weird US got it tomorrow it's hashtag dance together with the nice MTV you're a special club in the interactive parties taking place tomorrow with hashtag dance together okay is this going to be not sure why you're putting me on that I don't it's well so I thought I'd definitely be dance party is it airing from a reasonably shady beach for club and painless I have no idea I don't I don't have the details of this is I mean I literally have zero interest in watching that well I I do about just it because it's a TV show the salaries I watched MTV in years I'm less now unless it's the unless it's the the hall and less it's the old clips I'm watching on YouTube because there's no music to her what is here's the thing is that a dance party on M. T. V. means that for the first time in decades they'll actually be music on MTV well there's a good point because I I dramatize my son last weekend and I end up pulling up old clips of soul train now that I do watch in in HD watch on a frequent basis I watched Soul Train I watch American instead of watching mall and I pulled up some old clips because what why why because he's always run around doing the folks in doing his other you know by the time he's he's over Fortnite now it will be too old for that but you know he would run around doing that stuff and then I would be like did you always run around the house trying to dance and do this this and this and take a look what days doing so trying to pull mail man on that one and he's like why why are they doing to us to do that's called the re run bro I said you got a bed you got it you have hasn't tell do the rerun I love how I think one that that Scott might be in on the O. "I think the translation. It's both a very mysterious process for for people because people don't often think about it even being necessary but at the same time. It's very intuitive. Translator Katrina Dodson. We we all translate to some extent and you know someone once asked me well. When did people start translating? How did it all begin? I said well you know. Ever since there's it's been language we all have a different way of saying things literary translation you have. You're trying to balance. The semantic semantic contents of the meaning of what's being said with all the other information that language brings with it so kind of tone tone of voice connotation register all these things that go beyond the dictionary so when I translate I think a lot about voice I tried. Try to get inside the voice of the writer Certain attitudes or you know the rhythm or how I feel L. When I'm when I'm reading them and try to figure out how I can recreate that in English. Something about translation feels political political. In a way I guess which is I mean I. It's funny I thought a lot about over the years like who am I reading which writers voices in my consuming. Assuming am I reading work by straight white men and women. Am I read it. You know all these questions and I think that really trying to put an active priority on reading work in translation. Translation is something that I came to surprisingly late given my politics about other types of reading and I'm curious your thoughts about about that and about you know some of the dismal statistics that we've seen about how much work actually is translated into English. That does make it into the American market. Do you have thoughts or feelings about that. Not A lot. I really glad to hear you say all all of that and even just the fact that you're putting this focus on the show shows that You know it's it's a great vote of confidence in that that translation is something important to think about and I think what's happening in the publishing world and translation on world. Something that's happening in the culture at large in that you know we're talking more and more Abou Representation. You know the importance instead of hearing from a lot of different voices that have been suppressed systematically in the past and you know a lot more more of these small independent publishers and even translators are thinking about. Well why have I been translating a whole bunch of white man and we know without thinking about and let's think about. Can we translate more by women. Can we translate more books by people of Color because I think a lot about why I or how gender identity matters when you translate and you know obviously you can't always share you you know the gender identity of the person you're translating but I think definitely transiting clear suspect as a woman. I felt that I was much more attuned to just certain nuances of language. Or just you you just feel different. Words hit you differently so who for example my biggest fight that I had with my editor over translation. You no matter of interpretation was over the word Azcarate Tara and escalator means writer. But it's gendered female and he wanted to be woman writer her as like it's just writer and he's women writer that's just the translation it's black and white. That's just how it is and I was like a wrong side of history. You know in this moment you get the gender eventually so we in English you find out that it's a she but you know my point that I made against it woman writer just being the you know the black and white translation of that term. mm-hmm is that when you put a gender tag on a word in English you're making a point about gender so you don't say the female president of Brazil met that with the female president of Germany. You know you don't say my cousin the female doctor you just say doctor say president but if you WanNa talk about say the first female the president of the United States then you're talking about that in terms of gender and so I think there were things like that where you know being a woman. In knowing how much weight there is on a term like woman rider which is neither feminist misogynists. But it's definitely politically charger when you say woman rider you're talking about the case of women. Writers not just talking about a writer writing in her notebook and so I said you know the specter. She was a feminist. But she wasn't she's not making a point about gender here she's just talking about a woman So it's things like that where I think as a translator. You making thing these choices in every sentence every paragraph on every page and your interpretation matters a lot right. I love that after I made my commitment to read more literature and Translation. I'm really lucky because my local independent bookstore shoutout to skylight books in Los Angeles California. I Love Them. They haven't really shelf of literature newly in translation or or things that they are paying attention to and like you know love the curation of an independent bookstore but I really appreciate that there is a little bit of like a Goto place for me to act on this desire to read more work in translation. And I'm curious if you have advice for people who are not so lucky as to have like this shelf curated by their favorite indie bookstore How they might go about diversifying the sort of language of origin You know when it comes to the books they're reading Yeah I mean well I. I would also emphasize that independent bookstores are really great I'm I'm here in Brooklyn I'm at the Center for fiction. Actually is letting me use their podcast room. Thank you don't worry. Oh good yeah I still think getting in the bookstore is the best way but it's true not everybody is near Independent Bookstore. That has their finger on the pulse. So in the absence of that I'd say get on the Internet's Susan Bernas Ski a great translator. I translates Kafka Robert. VOL'S YOKO TO WADA. He's really interesting. Japanese German writer Susan Morowski has a blog called translation needs to And that has all kinds of information on what's going on in translation worlds on. That's a great Goto. The three percent blog they sponsor a transitional word and they also do a lot of highlighting of all the long lists and shortlists. They have a podcast where they talk about. A lot of books in translation I think lit hub is actually done a good job of doing these roundups of certain writers that you've never heard of before that you should be reading. They do a great job of kind of sifting through a lot and and I think also also you know awards are they're not you know they're obviously subjective measure of quality. But I think you know when you look at the long list. Yes in the short lists lists of awards like the National Translation Award the Pen Translation Prize and the National Book Award Actually Holy Just last year reinstituted. They're translated book award so they stopped doing that in nineteen eighty three. I think the fact that they brought brought that back in twenty eighteen is definitely a sign that people are more and more taking translation seriously Salihi and wanting to put more focus on you know books from elsewhere. I love that Katrina. Thank you so much for being on the show. Thank you in. It's it's a pleasure if people want to find your work and works you have translated. What is the best way for them to do that? And they can go to. My website Katrina mccade. Dodson DOT COM. It's funny to be honest. I've only translated one book. Length work but it was a big Aguado forty years of of short stories written by the spectre so that took me a very long time so it almost feels like six six books in one. That's the Big One and I've done other other short work So which is making me think I need to update my website now everybody. Everybody needs to update their website. All the forever to do list item shoutout to all the translators out there especially the women translators. Thank you for all of your tireless work. Yes and shout out to the act of translation and the interest in it like every month of the year truly truly. Where will they see you and I'll see you at the library? "Homer anymore. It's chemical. They kept a chemical name. And they're just getting a bigger and bigger because they're very good. They're very good at what they do. Well, as of June chemical had thirteen point one billion in Michigan deposits and t- CF had three point two billion. So who's the bigger and who's the right? I mean, there's no, I don't know. It's great news. Oh, sure. I just wanted to be straight news. And speaking of straight news. I'm so glad that you mentioned that stone. This this whole. He's being indicted for not the bad things. He did for President Trump or in the campaign, or whatever he's they say, he's being indicted because of crimes against the bogus investigation in the first place. Right. These are these are crimes that are accused. If there wasn't a bug against the investigation, these are not crimes and related to Russia collusion. Shing and it just keeps going on and on and on. It's just astonishing. All right. And in nobody's concerned that the business of the people the work of the government. The people who are supposed to serve us in Washington that we're paying for aren't they're spending all their time on all of this. Issues to deal with in our country. For our benefit and the benefit of those that are less fortunate than we are. And and yet people don't seem to get that and are thrilled to have this whole thing going on. Stone has said that he's gonna stick with Trump. He is not going to be ratting out on anything that he knows on Trump. He is a Trump supporter through and through. Now, the charges are there. Now his feet are against the fire. Right. Let's see. What happens? Well, you know, what here's what I want to hear from somebody not that there for or against Trump. But they're just going to speak. Honestly, they're going to speak the truth is they know it. Yup. Don't stand by anybody stand by the truth for once there. Let's move on. They're very well said all right. "He said he's when he's explaining how happy he is to be the mascot. He saying. You know, you know, they weren't laughing at me, they're laughing towards me. You know, it's just just often. It was beautiful because everything else had been done. You know, I'm not laughing at you. I'm laughing near you. I'm not laughing at you the towards yet. I never heard that nor had I I love the off the nose choices that the writers. Actually, they don't always joke. They don't always leave it to perform to deliver something to put a twist on it all the writing had a cool twist. Yeah. Yeah. I really love. What's book ended in this episode of him telling the story in the bar, and I feel like it's, you know, it's not as drastic as like, you know, an environment change or tone changed as we see in in some later seasons of the Simpsons when they have like, you know, a full episode. That's kind of in a game of thrones world like the surfaces episode that I think open season twenty nine, but it is they predict many things at the time. I was thinking more this episode kind of feels like off structure to their normal. Kind of episodes because it opens she'll know in this very poetic way where Homer is being very self reflective, which an emotion we see with him a lot. But I love it because it grounds it in what since does. So well in this almost cinematic kind of style. And so we we take like what happens with the story that he tells with this like gravity of like, oh, no. This is something that he feels really bad about an eye. Honestly was waiting for you know, the shoe to drop in a bigger way. But you know, we see later not to spoil the ending. But I will. He ends up not hacking it in the big leagues and has to come back of, you know, embarrassed. But you know, the way that he frames that you would have expected a worse thing to happen. I actually fell because it was a perfect take I fell for the fact that that baseball team owner needed him in the big leagues. Wait a minute. He what if he's given them a job, you know, as like a catcher or I thought cell. Yeah. These life would take the good turn instead of the bad round. Totally do you really love the name character name of the owner of from the big leagues. I think his name is tech. So hera. Written down somewhere, but Antoine tech. So Hera, I love it better. As as he's referred to throughout the episode to close friends. Sure has the other moment that I love so much that I had that has kind of that achey nece. That's just very home or really gets it in this episode. We actually have the clip of it which is Homer pitching to the big leagues. I just think it's so it's so good this line here that we're gonna play. Chicks homer. Now, we both knew and you began doing this. You are going to be here forever. Oh, I get it. You can't fire the players. So you fire the mascot you make me. Sick homer. I'm not firing. You just got the word you've been called up to capital city and the majors. That's right. Wait, a minute capital city has a mascot, the greatest mascot. There is the capital city goofball. He's getting on years, and he needs someone to fill in for couple innings, and that could be a big opportunity for you to say, don't you talk it over with your family because they might say, no. I love actually answering a question of like, why don't you go and do that with an with an actual answer? Because I no. Happen so fast. That was that little moment where I thought maybe it's going to just blow up. Yeah. And he's going to be sent to be a baseball player like dieting out right starting out. He I mean, he's showing his physicality is probably on par with some of the baseball turned superfan after that. And it's like, they already have a mascot. Yeah. They're so good at what they do. But he he goes to radio stations, and he won't take off that damn head. We're gonna have a great day rain. So, you know, Homer homers already kind of proven himself to kind of be have a little bit more awareness than normal in this episode, which I.

"So let's go to the episode first. Let's do our ice cold read, the wicked pedia entry for listeners have having watched this episode. And while here is according to compete. So we don't know what the synopsis is. In the episode Homer. Fires up the crowd at Springfield isotopes baseball game in his chosen to be the team's new mascot. He immediately becomes a popular attraction and the isotopes start winning streak. As result Homer is promoted to a team in capital city. The capital city capitals. Family moves there, but Homer fails to enthrall the crowd and the family returns home. Yeah. The good entries so often feel like bad book reports. And then the family goes home, and then homers, and then we wrap it up. How? Yeah. They don't mention something that we chatted briefly a boat was these rolling gags one after the other. It's what kept you hanging in in between the key scenes and the key moments. And and I love that part one of the catch a ball from flash Baylor. Oh, yeah. And he asked him for an autograph all and he goes, no. Just being a mother goes down there. I'm straighten this guy out and next thing. You know, she's got the autograph. Mom. He thought March was coming onto them. So we wrote cryptically on the ball. You know, meet you at this motel rooms twenty six a funny. Funny gag and then right after that there was the national anthem. Oh, yeah. These these unprofessional just show up and swing through the national anthem like they were in a gym. You know, just swinging off the bars..

"Spoiler more Malloy is arrested, but he outwitted. Citizens of Springfield and escapes. Well, well, I will say one of my points in watching the position I wanted to bring up you have. No that maybe this synopsis is actually true to basically the tone of this episode because when it's revealed that it is Malloy, it doesn't seem to be that big of a surprise mystery really not they weren't trying to make a mystery show because they broadcast it pretty strongly. I mean, even though the introduction Malloy is kind of baked into a joke, which is kind of how you get away with things like this. It is just we've never seen this person before it's the fifth season of the Simpsons. He just happens to appear and then even later when a reveals how he figured out. It was Malloy. It's very obvious comical. Yeah. So if you've read the time machine, did it this really just feels like a segment of it. Or like it felt like they turned that into. Episode because the whole point of the Frank burly detective character is that he's a moron, and he's constantly deducing things that are very obvious. Like me, like, he's like, we should all know. And it's kind of doing the same thing in Grandpa's kind of in some ways the Frank burly character. I would say, yeah. Absolutely. Especially says much more vertical than that's that's such a such a Frank burly. I wonder if that is you know, I mean, surely there are twist and turns that you don't necessarily see coming with that. But it's not really a mystery series his books with a capital M for mystery. It's leaning more comedy. And I think that true that it's a little lax on the mystery heightened with the comedy. It's really more about spending time with that character. And, you know, noticing the details of that world in that character's POV, and finding that sometimes I feel like the mystery would be a distraction from that. If we were truly like who done it. Sure. This is no shot mister burns. I think I think what this episode is just a celebration of has stupid Springfield can be much more than any sort of mystery store fun to see Homer in this leadership role leading essentially an angry mob, which we know Springfield loves themselves. Angry mom, and there are a lot of really great moments with characters in Springfield. So we got to, you know, this is a very very much an episode about Springfield. Fun because you get a lot of movie parodies throughout as well. Obviously, the the major one being it's a mad mad world. Have there are in that conversation. Have you guys seen? I've never seen it. But I have seen the movie rat race. Met world sip..

Marquette those Merck heads. Go allie. You were not here. We're not here for last episode. How you doing much better? That was insane. This is the first time in all of our Simpson's podcasting history. That I missed an episode, and yeah, I was it was a thing where Julia texted saying that she was about to head out the door. And then I woke up at that time, and it was like three in the afternoon. So it was not like early morning. It was that I had fallen asleep resting not at work it. I mean, how did it go? Well. All that. My critics tell me they went great. Our guest was listeners. You know what Lisa grey? Just it actually so excited about having her on all just have to listen to the list. I wanted to mention we had a text back and forth when you asked me afterward. How it went? And I said great, I think I spent a whole ten minutes determining we would now find out who was the mommy, and who is the daddy of this podcast. I said did you find out no genders fluid? That is actually what we found out. But we were missed I wanted to touch. Welcome back. It's good to be home. It's good to be. Oh and with that. I mean, so this is our last episode of twenty eighteen before we flushed the year down the toilet which way is gonna go. Ooh. And I cannot think of a better way to you know, we we've had a great year, but to wrap it up with John Schwartz wilder episode. I feel is just a you. Can't you can't see it listeners? But I'm Italian kiss. Ooh. Yeah. I'm excited not only because this episode. But because we're finally having this guest on the show who I Julia always in shows. But if I mad love to incharge this time, so he is one of my strongest and greatest collaborators in that like sanfer mutually. I really do most of my stuff solo. "That's just how much Homer loves us. Dude. He just wants to put them right in the middle of the story. He does we want to put him in the most story, and he'd he wants to like he's taking a little bit of epic away from our heroes. Like, it's like they got meet like Kana under disguise. I mean, you could you could read it that way or you could read it as like, it's even more epic to have a suitors get taken from. That's on a wears from such like lowly circumstances. Like, they're they're so hubristic and puffed up on their own suitor Nisus, even Even see it. see it coming. Yeah. Though. I the the you may stuff is like a lot of like building the relationship between a deceased and his his people, which I think is very humanizing to him. You know, because you're here to four in in the odyssey when you have learned any common persons name. It's usually because like a giant is about to eat them. We did get that reminder from FINA. It's your Marcus is the is like the the your images. He's like the lead suitor, right? That we that. We're going to have to deal with so I appreciated that reminder from her like, okay. Yeah. He's the guy. He's the guy when he's and he's going to be I think he's just going to be a proxy for kind of all the suitors a mob, but he will speak for them. Most Festus he will step forward from the chorus and become the first suitor to really take on the role. You know, that gaff I was just gonna say that. Tell me. Tell me so. Yeah, that's I think those are the books like we've got this theme of taking care of people who need shelter. We got the steam of bird omens and people telling stories to a deceased. Yeah. Also, I guess everyone wants to hang out with Columbus. I we never we ever. See what makes 'cause so cool. Get sees a good party, boys. Studies the air. He's just a good party. Boy, he's not like the guy you remember from the party. But you always remember that you had a good time while he was there. Well, I mean, I like, I guess he is this like this child of this great house and people don't wanna talk about it. But I think it's pretty widely assume that a deceased must be dead or somebody. Yeah. Somebody would have heard from 'em. That's true. That's true. So maybe it's just like, oh, you're you are the defacto head of this kingdom now. And so you're the one that we deal with. Yeah. Yeah. And he's not like a jerk. You know, like, I'm Jay. Jerk prince attention to me. Yeah. Okay. Like, he's very pull. He leaves your house at exactly the right pace. Not too fast. Not too slow. Well, that I think we'll do it for a Sander next time. We will read books sixteen and seventeen. And start start some more time in Ithaca. I think that all you got. That's all I got. I'm just kind of looking for quits because I it's because we're gonna end this. You're looking for a thing to end the episode with. Okay. Well, Andrew, you know, what we say every time on stop Homer time. Sex sways all women's minds, even the best of them. Thanks for listening. Everybody. Habitat.

"Welcome to stop Homer time. It's podcast within the podcast, which is the overdue podcast about books. He mean, read my name is Craig James Andrew, and this is too slow that down because I am the Mike. You can't say all in one syllable. No matter how hard you try to do that. Eight three two one. That was like a civil and a half. Sorry now that was beautiful. This is stop Homer time. It is the show that we have been doing monthly going through. Emily Wilson's translation of Homer's the odyssey. I looked at the cover of my copy, and I have taken the book jacket off. So it's just a book. This is possible. This is the most critically acclaimed podcasts based on EMI Wilson's version of the odyssey. The I am aware of person big you're right. I think you're right about that. So we are going through this text to books at a time, and we are on books twelve and thirteen. How's it feel be passed? The halfway point feels pretty good. Like, we get pretty good. We'll we'll talk about. It this episode. Like, we're I think the thing that surprised me was that we're only halfway through. There's a little bit of a like it's coming to a close that starts to creep in during book thirteen and we are only halfway through. So I know that and I think this might be this might be how the popular perception of the odyssey is too. But in my brain, the like Odysseus, traveling and go. Through all his trials part feels like more of the book than it is. And we talked a little bit about this last time because we both just are we're a little bit surprised at how some of the major episodes just like the res on by. And then they're like a bunch of people die couple people get oily, we dump some wine on the floor. And then we're done also wanna hit me with a quick recap of where we are up to this point. What recently just happened that we might need to know? And so in books books ten eleven were big travel books big books for a lot of his deceased men dying. We are aware that he is in facial alone. No with zero boys to his name, no, boys. But in the flashback, he still has some boys Karenin. So the question is just like what monster or like bad plan? Ding is going to be the cause of death all these boys. Sure..
