Day after day night after night weeks, turning into months of protests, and then we've seen various leaders come and go, including City Council member Shama so want directing hundreds of people into city Hall. This moment, rallying cries are constantly changing. Moment. It's black lives matter and calls for homeless reform. Then it's to fund the police and raise the minimum wage, public parks and city blocks occupied and overrun the homes of elected officials like the mayor and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. All targets. Various groups continue to peacefully march while a mob dressed in black now remains a constant threat. Elizabeth Holmes denies destroying evidence in Theranos case

"There is a new development in the theranos elizabeth holmes case it came late last night and attorneys for homes accused the government of losing a database that contained three years worth of accuracy and failure rates. If there are knows tests prosecutors alleged that theranos executives destroyed that database because it proved that the blood testing private product was inaccurate. This argument over testing evidence will be argued out before a judge next month and that will set the stage for homes as much awaited trial which is set to begin in july. This is really kinda complicated but the government the prosecutors say that they asked for this information they were given a backup drive that their executives gave them the drive. They forgot the password that they had sat on it They say that they are knows. People forgot the password that was set on it. They asked for this back in two thousand and eighteen. And i think three months later the main the main computer system the the database was destroyed after that they say it was done intentionally the prosecutors say that they have email evidence that shows that this was done intentionally but this is going to be just another step and incredibly compelling argument that we've watched back and forth.

"With the sun headed down to Charleston to play in a tournament down there. We were last week up in Pineville. And so we've got some hockey in there and got to watch the Super Bowl. It's been a really good week this past week, So no, everything's going well. Good. And, you know, I know we're about a week removed from the Super Bowls, but I do want to get your opinion because we talked about it last week here on Raleigh's retirement coach, What was your overall thought Me personally, I am amazed that Tampa Bay kept Kansas Lead to such a low scoring game. Yeah, I think that's the first time that my Holmes has been held without a touchdown since he's been in the NFL. I know it's the first time that he's lost by double digits or more, which is incredible by more than one score, which is incredible things. He's been in the league 3 to 4 years and has happened. I think it was his worst defeat since, like 2016 or whatever. When he was in college we had to believe in her high school says quite a beat down to be fair to him. He was injured, and he didn't have his offensive line, which really starts. Went up later and really right from the very beginning. I think he's a phenomenal athlete. I thought, you know, obviously, Tom Brady got the M V P, but I thought that Tampa Bay defense probably should have gotten the M V P. But Brady was, you know, phenomenal. He brought into pieces there. He got drunk to come out of requirement. He got Antonio Brown to behave himself. He got Leonard for net who is disenfranchised for the Jaguars to come and play and you just didn't hear anything from him all season long. Those guys got to work, I think. The guy probably go down as the greatest of all time. He's not the greatest athlete of all time, but I'd have to put him up. There is one of the greatest leader in sports to be able to get, you know, 70 guys, you know all the guys that you got on a football team and be able to make it to 10 Super Bowls. Evan Rachel Wood and Others Make Allegations of Abuse Against Marilyn Manson

"Know, we're going to start with a really awkward cumbersome. Yes, we need to have a very awkward conversation. We're not awkward. The awkward is coming from Maryland Manson. I mean, we are awkward, too. It's a long story. But today We need to start with Marilyn Manson because we began to hear about some controversy surrounding Well, Evan Rachel Wood made an announcement that Marilyn Manson horrific. Lee abused her for years. That story kind of blew up this week. Um, It's not that we didn't have reason to suspect Maryland. Manson was a problematic figure. We'll talk about that a little bit more in a minute, but I wanted to tell you that we kick things off today, learning That Maryland. Manson has already suffering the consequences of that controversy after being dropped by his record label amid these abuse. Allegations, and I'll just tell you a little bit about our read you a little bit of the statement. From His record label. Loma Vista Recordings. Quote in Light of today. That is yesterday's disturbing allegations by Evan Rachel Wood and other women naming Marilyn Manson as their abuser. Loma Vista will cease to further promote his current album, effective immediately due to these concerning developments. We have also decided not to work with Marilyn Manson on any future projects, so that is Immediate Result to the controversy in the allegations that Again to put it bluntly blew up yesterday. Well, you know what I think is really interesting, and I'm sort of just arriving to the scene. Because I don't pay a lot of attention to Marylin Manson. It seems like the consequences have arrived a little too late. And I'm saying that because I read this op Ed, um from NBC News, written by Jill flip of IQ. Philip Philip. Oh, Vic. Sorry, Philip. Oh, Vic, who, by the way, is the author of a book called Okay, Boomer. Let's talk how my generation got left behind, and she basically says he guys f Y I Um, you're all arriving to this story about Maryland. Manson about Like 20 years too late. And what she does is she goes through. Conversations that have been had with both Evan Rachel Wood and Marilyn Manson. That basically say Hey, it didn't take you know it didn't take You know a Sherlock Holmes detective to figure out that Evan Rachel Wood has been talking about this. And Maryland, Manson has been talking about his treatment of her all along. And it goes back to, um, a few years ago when Evan will Evan Rachel what has always been very open about the fact that she was in an abusive relationship when she was in her late teens. But more specifically, she actually testified in a in an effort to get a law passed called the Phoenix Act. And this is the Phoenix Act is The the act in the state of California that extends the statute of limitations on abusive relationships. Okay, so she testified before Congress. About her experience in an abusive relationship, and in this in this testimony, she talked about a man she dated when she was 18 years old. Okay, again. Hello, 18. It does not take A private investigator to figure out that that was Maryland Manson. They were they had a public relationship. She talks about? How he groomed her when he began growing her when she was about 18 years old. He physically abused her, deprived her of sleep, starved her and stocked her when she tried to leave him by calling her incessantly. Now. Meanwhile, Over here in 2009 in an interview with Spin magazine, Marilyn Manson is talking about this very thing, he says of his relationship with Evan Rachel Wood. In 2009. Okay, So that's 12 years ago? Yep. He says he called Evan Rachel Wood 158 times while self mutilating and then blamed her for it. He said. Quote. I wanted to show her the pain she put me through. It was like I want you to physically see what you've done. So sit with that for a second. He's calling her 158 times while he is inflicting Pain on himself. To show her what he has done to her and then other others, So I mean I could go on. But there's other stories about him in another interview, saying that he has fantasies about smashing her skull with a sledgehammer.

One on one with Seattle's interim police chief

"The Seattle City Council is considering yet another budget cut to the Seattle Police Department a move that I suppose we should not find surprising. It's a preemptive cut of over dollars. This, of course, on top of what was previously cut, and of course, it has implications. Joining me on the line is interim police chief Adrian Diaz. Ideas. Welcome back to the show. Welcome. Thank you for having me. I really appreciate you taking the time. So what is the $5.4 Million cut mean in terms of public safety? Yeah. You know, we have had, you know some cuts last year. At the end of their session, Another $2 million and some of the other additional cuts that they have This 5.4 million is just One of those things that we're trying to just kind of stabilize our efforts and our hiring efforts. We have some other crude costs that come up. We have You know, we've had a lot of people leave our department. So we had to pay additional money out in separation pay. We've had people because we have Ah, younger workforce, eh? So we've had people that go out on pay parental leave. And so this is some of that money that you know can you know, cover those costs, But we've also had, you know, we really tried to focus our efforts because we've lost a lot of sworn officers. Hiring additional civilian positions that conduce you of riot different works from CSOs, our community service officers, crime prevention coordinators. And you know that you know another additional cut with a lot wouldn't Wouldn't allow us to be able to hire for some of those civilian positions that are so desperately needed. So they've also effectively cut your overtime budget. So how does that work? Because you've got a dwindling for she lost What? 197 police officers last year I'm told that the numbers are still going down. You lost about 20 this month. I don't know if that's been confirmed yet, but you know you've had to use over time as a result of that, of course. Also you had a lot of instances of unrest that you were staffing. So what exactly is the plan this year? Yeah. You know, we've we've actually had to make some obviously some some adjustments. You know, when I moved 100 officers back into patrol we created during that same time we created a community response group. That has been able to handle 911 calls but also be able to, you know, work and deal with the demonstrations, some that direct action that has been occurring for the last several months. And that has helped us out immensely having a group or squad or units that are able to, um Be able to respond to that direct action that is actually limit that's actually pared down some of our overtime. But as we see more people leave the department. You do have to figure out ways that you can have personnel, you know, sure that up, and that means that you know if we have this level of direct action occurring, you know, luckily not on a nightly basis, but it's been enough. Where it impacts our ability to go out and do proactive public safety on destroying to recover guns off the street because we've had an all time high when it came to about an all time high, but 28 year high Yes. You know, we've tracked. You know our shots fired. Going up are you know homicides going up and so we've got to figure out how do we get? Our resource is back into just doing police work so we can Get some of these guns off the street when part of the issue is and you know you made a point to discuss this over the weekend is you'll make arrest. Your officers will make arrest and then nothing really happens. And so you kind of got a little bit of Ah, potential fight brewing with Pete Holmes, Seattle City attorney. You announced this new policy that he will actually prosecute the vandalism by some of these anti for groups and other agitators. His office has since come out and said, there's no new policy. It sounds like someone's playing a game of semantics here. So what was your conversation with him like between inauguration night violence that that broke out which you indicated? That's when the conversations started to happen? At least and your press conference? What was the conversation? So you know, I'm not going to speak for homes. What I can say is that e think we can all agree that the actions of the direct direct action of these groups that have you know Been breaking windows and created property damage and assaulting, you know, people, there's no tolerance for it. Um And I do think that you know Pete Holmes had mentioned they not gonna prosecute peaceful protesters. We don't arrest people protest. Yeah, Exact. That is not what our focus is. You know, our focus is literally trying to make sure that people that are committed to property damage. Uh, that we address those issues, you know, right away, and and so you know, and we've we've taken you know some different approaches over the last several Uh, months to try and reduce the confrontation between our officers Because direct action. Washington, DC Statehood Bill Introduced By Senate Democrats

"Now you know this has been on the wish list of democrats for quite some time along with a promoting of puerto rico to statehood as well. Now that's compensation for a different time. But you had senator tom carper. He's democrat out of delaware leading over three dozen of his democrat colleagues to introduce companion bill for washington dc statehood gesture on tuesday. Now remember a similar. Bill passed the house last year. Now will face well pretty much. A democrat controlled senate to determine if dc will become the fifty first state but is that even possible. Well i found this piece. I pulled this back in early january out of the washington post. And it's pretty indepth piece about dc statehood. Bottom line is these. Dc statehood still faces a number of high hurdles not only in the narrowly divided senate but yes in public opinion as well. Think about this. A two thousand nine thousand nine gallup poll found that nearly two-thirds of us opposed dc statehood. So why is in dc already a state. well we need to look at the constitution washington. Dc's founding is enshrined in the constitution which provides that the district not exceeding the constitution. Not exceeding ten miles. Square would become the seat of the government of the united states now for a brief period of time after the city's creation back in seventeen ninety residents -joyed voting rights and were allowed to cast ballots as residents of maryland or virginia but those rights ended shortly after congress moved into town and the new capital in eighteen hundred and pass the district of columbia organic act of eighteen. O one the act stripped dc residents of their rights to vote in all federal elections including for president and gave congress oversight of the city. Have you ever seen a dc washing a plate license plate. You know what it says you know with. The slogan is taxation without representation. Now the district was not afforded presidential electors until the passage of the twenty-third amendment. Back in one thousand. Nine hundred sixty one. Its residents didn't get a non voting delegates in the house until nineteen seventy so begs the question. How can congress change this well. Those opposed to making dc estate have argued that statehood for dc can't happen without a constitutional amendment. They say that the founders intended the entire district to serve as the seat of federal government not as state but legislation put forth by non voting delegate. Eleanor holmes norton every year since nineteen ninety-one would not eliminate the seat of government that the constitution calls for in stead her bill which shrink the national capital to a small complex of federal buildings while allowing the rest of the district to become a state proponents of statehood for their part argue that this plan preserves federal enclave. Whose only requirement is that. It can't exceed ten square miles and escapes the need for a constitutional amendment. Nothing simple as that outstanding questions remain over. What would happen to the three electoral college votes. Currently afforded to the district when it becomes a smaller that role enclave. And some have wondered whether the twenty-third amendment would have to be repealed. So that the few residents of the federal enclave namely we're talking about those residing at sixteen hundred pennsylvania avenue don't retain them so what needs to happen for dc to become state. Well the bill to make these estate obviously has enough supports in the house to pass again and jordi leader steny hoyer pledged to bring it to vote with backing from speaker. Nancy pelosi by your indeed even though the senate is pretty evenly split. Well let's just say it's a tough road to hoe in the senate democrats occupy half the seats in that chambers. Thanks to the victories of ossoff and wore knock In georgia both of whom support would no surprise there. And then you've got vice president. Kamala harris in this fifty fifty split in the senate able to cast the tie breaking boat and she liked biden supports

"Combs recovered from the strain caused by his immense accessions in the spring of eighty seven. The whole question of the Netherlands Sumatra Company and of the colossal schemes. Barron moped tweet are two recent in the minds of the public and are too intimate bit concerned with politics and finance to be fitting subjects for this series of sketches. They lead however in an indirect fashion to a singular and complex problem which gave my friend opportunity of demonstrating the value of a fresh weapon among the many with which he waged his lifelong battle against crime. On referring to my notes I see that it was upon the fourteenth of April that I received a telegram from Lille which informed me that Holmes was lying ill in the hotel. Do not within twenty four hours. I was in his room and was relieved to find that there was nothing formidable in his symptoms. Even his I am constitution however had broken down under the strain of an investigation which had extended over two months joining which period he had never wept less than fifteen hours a day and had more than once as he assured me kept to his task for five days at a stretch even the triumphant issue of his labors could not save him from reaction after so terrible and accession and at a time when Europe was ringing with his name and when his room was literally ankle. Deep with congratulatory telegrams I found him a prey to the blackest depression even the knowledge that he had succeeded where the police have. Three countries had failed and that he had outmaneuvered at every point the most accomplished swindler in Europe was insufficient to rob him from his nervous prostration. Three days later we were back in Baker Street together but it was evident that my friend would be much better for a change and the thought of a week of springtime in the country was full of attractions to me. Also my old friend Colonel Hater. Who'd come under my professional care in? Afghanistan had taken a house near Ri- gate in Sarah and had frequently asked me to come down to him upon a visit on the last occasion. He had remarked that if my friend would only come with me he would be glad to extend his hospitality to him. Also little diplomacy was needed about twenty homes understood that the establishment was the Bachelorette one that he would be allowed the fullest freedom. He fell in with my plans and a week after I returned from Leon. We were under the colonel's roof. Haza was a fine old soldier who had seen much of the world and he soon found as I had expected that homes and he had much in common on the evening of our arrival. We were sitting in the colonel's Gun Room after Dinner Homes stretched upon the Sofa while hater and I looked over his little armory of east and weapons by the way said he suddenly. I think I'll take one of these pistols upstairs with me in case we haven't Allom Lom said yes. They've had a scare in this spot lately. Old ACTON WHO's one of our county magnets had his house broken into last Monday no great damage them but the fellows are still at large. No clue asked homes cocking his eye on the not as yet but the affair is a petty one of our little country crimes which must seem too small for your attention. Mr Holmes after this great international of homes waved away the compliment though. His smile showed that it had pleased him. Was there a feature of interest like frankly not as Eve's ransacked? The library and got very little Philippines. Allow place was turned upside down drawers. Best opened presses ransacked with the result that an odd volume of popes homa to plated candlesticks. An ivory letter wait a small oak parameter and a ball of twine all vanished. What's extraordinary assortment? I exclaimed well. The feds evidently grabbed hold of everything they could get homes grunted from the SOFA. The county police ought to make something of that said he why it surely obvious that but I held up a warning finger. Your here for a rest. My dear fellow for heaven's sake don't get started on a new problem when your nerves are all in shreds homes shrugged his shoulders with a glance of Comic Resignation Towards the Journal and the talk drifted away into less dangerous channels. It was destined however that all my professional caution should be wasted for next morning. The problem of Trud itself upon us in such a way that it was impossible to ignore it and our country visit took a ton which neither of US could have anticipated. We were at breakfast when the candles Butler rushed in with all his propriety. Shaken out of him. Have you heard the news? He gasped at the cutting of Sir. Buggery cried the curtain with his Coffee Cup in mid at but the colonel whistled by Jove said he was killed them. Jp or his son not as it was William the coachman shot through the heart. Sern never smoke again. Who Shot Him then the burgers he was off like a shot and got clean away. He just broken in the Pantry window when William came on him and met his end in saving his master's property what time it was last night says somewhere about twelve. Then we'll step over afterwards. Said the colonel. Cooley settling down to breakfast again. It's a business. He added when the Butler Gun. He's a leading man about here old. Cutting a very decent fellow to be cut up over this for the man is being in his savage for years. It was a good seven. It's evidently the same villains who broke into actors and stole that very singular collection said Holmes thoughtfully precisely it may prove the simplest matter in the world but all the same at first glance. This is just a little curious. Is it not a gag of Butler's acting in the country? It might be expected to vary the scene of that operations and not to crack to cribs in the same district within a few days when you spoke last night of taking precautions I remember that it passed through my mind that this was probably the last parish in England to which the thief or thieves would be likely to turn their attention which shows that I have still much to learn some local practitioner at the case of calls actors and cuttings. Just the places he would go for since they are far the largest about here and richest. Well they ought to be but they've had a lawsuit for some years which is suck. The blood out of both of them have had say well. Acton has some claim on half Cunningham's estates the lawyers have been added with both hands. If it's a local villain should not be very much difficulty in running him down said Holmes the on all right what some. I don't intend to metal inspector foresters said the Butler throwing open the door the official a smart keen faced. Young fellow stepped into the room. Good morning cuddle said He. I hope I don't intrude but we hear that Mr Holmes of Baker Street is here. The Kennel waved his hand towards my friend. And the inspector bowed. We thought that perhaps you can step across Mr Holmes fates are against your Watson. Said he laughing we were chatting about the motto. When you came in inspector perhaps you can let us have a few details as he leaned back in his chair in the familiar attitude. I knew that the case was hopeless. We had no clue in the acting effect but here we have plenty to go on. And there's no doubt it's the same party in each case the man was saying But he was like a dear after the shot that killed poor. William Cohen was fired. Mr Cunningham saw him from the bedroom window and Mr Cunningham so in from the back passage it was quoted at twelve when the alarm broke. Got Mr Cutting Emma. Just got into bed and Mr Eric was smoking a pipe in his dressing gown. They both heard William the coachman calling for help and Mr Alec ran down to see what was the matter with. The back door was open and as he came to the foot of the stairs he saw two men wrestling together outside. One of them fired a shot. The other dropped and the murderer rushed across the garden and over the edge Mr Cunningham looking out of his bedroom so with a fellow who is he gained the road but lost sight of him at once. Mr Alex stock to see if he could help the dying man and so the villain got clean away beyond the fact that he was of middle sized man dressed in some dock stuff. We have no personal clue but we are making energetic inquiries. And if he's a stranger we shall soon find him out. What was this William during? The did he say anything before. He died a lot of word but he lives at the lodge his mother. Nancy was a very faithful villa. We imagine that he walked up to the House with the intention of seeing that all was right there. Of course this act in businesses has put everyone on their God. The rubber must've just burst. Open the door. The locks being forced when William came upon him did William say anything to his mother before getting is she's very old and deaf and we can get no information from the shockers made her off witted but understand that she was never very bright. There is one very important circumstance however look at this. He took a small piece of torn paper from a notebook and spread it upon his knee. This was fired between the finger and thumb of the Dead Man. It appears to be a fragment torn from a larger sheet. You would observe that. The our mentioned opponent. He's the very time at which the poor fellow Metis fate. You see that this matter I might have torn the rest of the sheet from him or he might have taken this fragment from the modern era it reads almost as though it were an appointment. Homes took up the scrap of paper at quarter to twelve learn. What May it rent presuming that? It is an appointment continued the inspector. It is conceivable theory. That this William Cohen Low. He had the reputation of being honest. Man May have been in league with a safe. You may have met him. There may even have helped him to break in the door and then they may have fallen out between themselves. This writing is of extraordinary interest said Holmes who had been examining it with intense concentration. These are much deeper waters sought. He sank his head on his hands. While the inspector smiled at the effect which is case had had upon the famous London specialist. Your last remark said Holmes present as to the possibility of there being an understanding between the burglar and the seven and this being a note of appointment from one to the other is an ingenious and not entirely impossible position but this writing opens up. He sank his head into his hands again and remained for some minutes in the deepest thought where they raised his face again. I was surprised to see that his cheek was tinged with color and his eyes as bright as before his illness he sprang to his feet with all his old energy. I'll tell you what said he. I should like to have a quiet little glance. Into the details of this case there is something in it which fascinates me extremely if you will permit McConnell. I will leave my friend Watson and you and I will step around with the inspector to test the truth of one or two little fences of mine. I will be with you again in half an hour. An hour and a half had elapsed before the inspector returned alone. Mr Holmes is walking up and down in field outside said he he wants says Oh four to go up to the highest together to Mr Cunningham's yes What for the inspector shrugged his shoulders. Why don't quite between ourselves? I think Mr Hogan his not quite got over his illness yet. He's been behaving very clearly at ease very much excited. I don't think you need alarm yourself. Said I have usually found that there was method is madness. Some folk might say there was madness in his method muttered the inspector. But he's all on fire to start. Kern also we'd best go out if you're ready. We found homes pacing up and down in the field his chin sunk upon his breast and his hands thrust into his trousers pockets. The matter grows and interest said he what some. Your country trip has been a distinct success. I've had a charming morning. You'll beat up to the scene of the crime. I understand said the colonel. Yes the Inspector and I have made quite a little reconnaissance together.
