North Carolina public radio's rusty Jacobs caught up with some of the voters who will determine the outcome of tight races for Congress, the state legislature and the U.S. Senate. Holly springs is a suburb of North Carolina's capital city, Raleigh, the residential area in wake county, is part of the 13th congressional district, where race is seen as key to whether or not Republicans rest control of Congress from Democrats, and it's where Ben men went on the first day of early in person voting to cast her ballot in this year's midterms. A registered Democrat, Nguyen said she typically only votes in presidential cycles but felt compelled to vote this year after the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in June that overturned roe V wade end up ended 50 years of precedence protecting a constitutional right to abortion. Nguyen's 21 year old daughter Lauren also voted early. She's a biology major at UNC Chapel Hill and registered unaffiliated. Most of my Friends are quite progressive and quite female. Their views should be music to the years of wily nickel, the Democrat running against Republican Bo Heinz in this swing congressional district, abortion has been a prominent issue in the 13th district race with nickel supporting a woman's right to choose and Heinz opposing abortion except when a woman's life is in danger and in some cases of rape and incest. 19 year old Justin friendly cast his ballot at a one stop site in the nearby wake county suburb of fuquay varina. He's a student at wake technical community college and he cited his opposition to abortion rights as key to his coming out to vote. There's no regard for the human life. That's lost there. For Ed ward, a 67 year old retiree and registered Republican, inflation and the economy top his list of concerns. Ward was sporting a T-shirt for the Holly springs food cupboard, where he volunteers helping distribute supplies to people in need. We see greater need now than we did a year and a half ago. "When have you read that? The guy that bolt mine because he wanted to put it in his house. And I told him I was like, man, that is a lot of heat coming up. I think a lot of it. He got under his house, reinforced. This is a long story, but I'm gonna cut it down. He lost the hot tub on the way to his house after he picked it up for me. It slid right off the trailer. And anyway, he gets home, he reinforces the house. He's got a lot of water. He puts in a fan. It's an old house, you know? So he puts in almost like a commercial grade type. Exhaust fan. Exactly. So he just sucking it out of there, but you've got to have some air coming back in there. So you have to have some sort of a liver vent. It pulls that negative pressure. It was pulling back at the end. Now it's going to go. So that is one thing about putting it inside. Outside of the port. My porch is a little un level. You know, because it's a black gorgeous ball and like his poster. But it's on concrete. Don't concrete. Definitely don't concrete. So if you're going to come in and put it on a deck, and these reinforcements, especially get heavy. Because some of them are 7 foot by 7 foot and some of these things are toil food by 12 foot. That's a lot of water. How much is it going to weigh and make sure you do it correctly? Well, you've got to do. So there are a couple of things to think about. You've got to think about your electricity. That was the hardest part. Yeah, think about your power, how you're going to run this motor in this heater. They've got two different ways you can do it. One, if you have a slot in your outside record box, which I would recommend putting it on there. Yeah, it's going to be a 50 amp GFI breaker. So you can ruin your number, whatever that thing calls for. Like I read number 8. Over to a regular AC disconnect box because since the line's already GFI, they don't have to have it. And then the hard line and then they're going to make sure you use all the right connections and all that stuff. But they got another thing called a spa box that I couldn't find and I barely found this burger for a good electrician buddy of mine in the head one. But they got a spa box. You can run power from your record box over to the spa box and the spa box itself is GFI. Nice. So there's an easier way to go. You can usually get them from your big box store. But regular breaker on your panel and then the spa box and the hook it up. Yeah, and I'm telling you folks, if you're going to do something like this, you've really out of your league on a DIY on the wiring. I really recommend you get an electrician to come in and get that thing wired because you could really, you miss that up. You could really have some problems. Well, think about it. Any time you add electricity to a water borne device, like a tub, you do need a problem. You have to have this is what I found. You have to have a ground rod within ten foot. Of that hot tub. Even though you're burger box is grounded. You still have a very long run. So it takes time to get there. Pull equipment. Anything out like that. And we do pool inspections. I was at a pool inspection for a home inspection last week. And they had a light in the pool on just a regular 20 M break. I'm not swimming in Apple. All right, let's take another break here. point there are still quite a few that haven't But I don't know that the long-term effect on system security is really going to have a play given inflation will probably have a greater play to that Saturday for a straight time when I get there and they tell me I have three days of no call no show like I call them money and Tuesday but then it got on a computer where I coward and request my stuff in the lady company when I called her she would get it in for me but then when I go in Friday to see if I could work Saturday if it was working they told me that they had me down for three days with no car no show and that's what I'm here today so they took that one away and had two and someone was post call me Friday evening where no one cared I go to work Sunday morning I clock in and everybody do accept me like I'm strange and what am I doing here and they're saying I know I'm terminated from last Friday but no one ever called so many different interesting I'm not sure that our guest was in The Senate is poised to vote on a bill Tuesday meant to push back against new, restrictive voter laws in several states. But Democrats are still trying to get all 50 of their members onboard West Virginia's Joe Manchin, the holdout offered a compromise with items Republicans support like voter I d requirements and allowing state officials to purge voter rolls.
