Fresh update on "hockey league" discussed on The Ray & Dregs Hockey Podcast

"Lock free. I mean, you're up to your eyeballs in all of the early games as we get nicely into round two of the Stanley Cup playoffs. So, you know, there's a lot of entertaining hockey. There's a lot of it. The early games have been good, the late games have been great, so when you wrap up the early game, right? Are you racing back the hotel? You're trying to find a sports bar, get a meal, watch the late games, just to try and try and stay on top of things. Well, in Carolina here, so at the hotel, they got the games on at the lobby bar, come back, grab a quick bite, watch the games. After usually after the first period, maybe after the second, I'll come upstairs, watch the rest of it in my room. As I'm wearing out by that time. But the hockey has been terrific. I mean, I don't know whatever the hell that was in Alberta the other night, but it was your entertaining. Except if you were a goalie. By the way, could three goalies have played worse in a playoff game than that. That was don't think so. Unbelievable. And then last night, I got an off night. I'm watching Tampa, drop like flies, block and shots like crazy. And then I watch the late game, and I'm like, I'm so impressed with St. Louis. I just think that the hockey has been terrific. It really has. And I'm entertained. So you mentioned St. Louis, and I'm pretty sure that the hat that Keith Koch Walt was wearing, you know, in game one of the battle of Alberta in Calgary the other night was a hat from o'grady's, right? The restaurant in St. Louis? Yeah. Wow, you can tell he was getting chirped by people behind him. His family probably Brady saying, dad, don't be so cheap. Throw your freaking hat on to the ice. Your son just scored a hat trick in a playoff game. And Walt was have none of that. You can see him. It's my favorite hat. Like, you know, leave me alone. So I threw this in you. I mean, Landon is a really good professional hockey player. That is stint in the National Hockey League. Now, if he had had an NHL hat trick, and you're in attendance, is the hat going out onto the ice if you're wearing a hat or you're like, okay, don't act like this is the first time you've ever been there type of thing. No, I'm saving that hat and I'm putting it on my mantle because it would be a keepsake. That's number one. Number two, it's O'Brien's. Oh, I said oh great, that's right. Number three, if Walt was going to throw that hat onto the ice, he might have thrown his shoulder out. That thing would fit over the side of a garbage can. Have you seen rolls head? He's.

No, the NFL Is Not Considered a Nonprofit

"Here is the deal. It is true, according to snopes and just because it snopes doesn't mean it's wrong. NFL is a sports league that generates an estimated 9.5 billion revenue each year, enjoyed past tense at the status of being a tax exempt nonprofit organization. A status that applied to the National Hockey League, the PGA Tour in Major League Baseball, but the key to understanding the exemption is realizing it does not apply to the dozens of individual teams, who are the footballs primary moneymakers, but only a small part the NFL league office. And even then the NFL league office stopped its nonprofit status. I think because people complained about it.

"But then you look at shea weber. I thought he was tremendous in the playoffs in particular in the stanley cup final. I mean brayden. Point was ready to lose his mind in that series because every time he looked up he saw this mountain of a human being shea weber and there's a laundry list right of of injuries. From Public Defender To Stanley Cup Champion

"So joe for those who might not follow the nhl super closely. Can you just give us a sense of what jon cooper has accomplished during his as a coach in the nhl. Definitely jon cooper is the longest tenured coach shell. He's on an eight th anniversary of his hiring on this week. The winningest coach in franchise history for the lightning. And i think he's highly regarded as one of the better coaches in the league and probably a candidate coach team. Canada at the next olympics are positions and olympics for the trump player so deadly highly regarded coach but up until this past season. He hasn't won the big one and that was kind of the big question surrounding it. And how would you describe his personality. Well he's a players go. She's a really fun personality. Like you quotes wedding crashers. Upper seventy six. No excuses public champion. You uses a champion. The only person you have to answer to when you go home at night is really yourself. The national media loves him because he is a great world this charismatic. You're going to get knocked down. There's no question people are going to push down. Because ultimately they want to see it fail if you think maybe teams on trips to like field of dreams when he was in earlier years coaching. He's all about the different sides and binding guys together on the ice and that if you get is connected as a group and the for each other and very process over outcome kind of guy and so you definitely has that charisma that makes them unique. I think the players like that. We'll show you recently. Wrote about how jon cooper has followed perhaps the most unconventional path of any stanley cup winning coach. So take us back to the late. Nineteen ninety s. What was john. Cooper's lifelike at that time he was living in a condo east lansing area couple remains but he was just trying to figure out where you wanted to be in his life. What he wanted to do for work. He was good ball. Charismatic lawyer but his heart wasn't in it always always wondering when is the fulfillment. When are you going to sit there and wake up every day and say. I can't wait to go do what i'm gonna do. He was defender district court in lansing michigan about a thousand dollars a month. You know we're going for indigent clients. He was working on. du is having divorces. You've got a two person law. Office him in a paralegal. He's still didn't know i guess. Were taken at that point. And you got in touch with the judge. Who worked with jon cooper back. Then what did he say about cooper skills in the courtroom and you just notice and how clients clients listen to prosecutors respected him i think is the kind of ability that transcends coaching the ability to persuade players to adopt your system or just believe the approach. So you know. He's he's a good salesman. He always says convincing players. Convincing a jury and i don't think he knew then that it would be kind of the key to him. Maybe starting coaching career. So how did jon cooper go from being this lowly paid lawyer and a former lacrosse player. Who had only played a year of club hockey in college to being high school hockey coach. Well the run in his son playful lansing catholic high school and they needed a coach and so he knew of john skills on the ice and new of his charisma and then he is asked to one day in the building. I saw the coach. would you be interested. He looks at me and goes. Dc the stack of resumes. I have he says. I'll tell you one thing you coach kids high school hockey team and i will take your resume from here. We put it here. Just this exactly. That was his first kind of foray into coaching hockey. Was nine thousand nine hundred nine hundred thousand lansing catholic cougars hockey team and that was seventeen. You actually talked to some of the players on that lansing catholic team. What did they tell you about jon. Cooper the high school coach. I think what's interesting knees. They remember the first meeting in the cafeteria where he's using himself to like twenty kids and parents and those us have just nervous as they were and are waiting to hear whereas the hockey background. Who did he coach before. Because one of the red wings was he part of this huge talk about law school in wall street and this guy another guys were in the nhl players. Even highly college players inducted himself would be anywhere high in coaching world. A reflection of guys play together. I think they'll be the first ones to tell you. None of them really on the track to make the national hockey league but they were such a joy to be around the competed their butts off just line. Who an awkward gesture. The of funny kid and team talked about like there was a hill just a mile from the school that the workouts outside the big hill. The he must've just saw he was driving around and he made us run up this hill with do bear calls and stuff. That is the source. I've ever been my life like. I could not long like off chris. Monrovia now works the red wings. Illitch family talked about how they had this practice where they had no on the ice and they're doing push ups and sit ups and kristin ross. Who served in the military students in afghanistan he goes. I went through the army for seven years. And i went through a lot of work out a lot of hellish days. Afghans dead. That's one of those days that i think back much. It's not as bad as back. And what else did you learn about his coaching philosophy back. Then you know like what were the things that were important to him that he really emphasized to the team. Making guys feel connected or part of it no matter if you were the best player on this team or like the thirteenth forward and i think jeff swan is appropriate examples. Like i wasn't the most natural coordinated like county out now who put me not aligned with the two players. Mike sack out with the most gifted athlete. That are high school in you. The team is better holding. Some of its part. They wanted them to play. Have have meaning and swan. Storing the biggest fools that season the most for player that year. So you know. He's told everyone the most improved player really halls like a special place for him. Something he takes lightly. It was a really really nice compliment. They talked about the hard hat that they gave out. After every win which was an all white instruction half that was something that the player of the game whether at block shot or a big hit or in ceremony the post game. We'll get this production. How they put their name and a sharpie but it was more of a. What did you do to help the team. Really recognizing layers who maybe didn't shop scores sheep but who are just dedicated themselves to helping the team. These success those are moments that came together that they remember forever and become an integral part of their story on a way to winning out like the championship. Well this sort of ragtag bunch of guys did win an unlikely state regional championship in almost mighty ducks kind of way and joe as you talks to all these guys who played for jon. Cooper what connections. Were you able to make between cooper the coach of the lansing catholic cougars and cooper the coach of the stanley. Cup champion tampa bay. Lightning guesswork me. Talking to guys. That new men who've now that he hasn't changed much in terms of his personality he had kind of style which coach's house you through professional level versus coaching. high school. Kids a lot of the same kind of tenants but he had then he still uses today. Kerry that floss with me all the way through the nhl in onto the honestly. It doesn't really change. Human beings are human beings and everybody needs to be motivated. It's just finding the right way to motivate. Rose stood up in my living room and watch the game and cheer tampa. You're welcome. you're welcome for started. His rise

"How can it show up once and then show up again but not be there from the entirety of the Of the tournament. Is it because you are more locked in and you know what's at stake. I mean, I would say that, you know, that's that's definitely part of the case. Ah, and I mean, you know, it's it's When you're playing sports you don't always have you're a game and and Ah, it's tough to say that because it does seem so easy. A lot of times. You know when when things are going right? It just seems like everything's come. You know, everything comes naturally. But but, you know, Ah, Mo mentum shifts and then that could be within a game that could be within a series. That could be over the course of a season and you know the ABS. They had a couple of games there where I don't want to say they took their foot off the gas, but I think the mentality Just wasn't quite Ah, right going into a game. And when you have Nathan MacKinnon playing away that that he's been playing, I think a lot of times it's easy to Ah, no to sit back and watch him kind of go to town and do his thing. Whereas in the playoffs, you have to have everybody firing on all cylinders. Everybody pulling on the ropes together and that No, that's your your goalie or your defenseman. That's that's top to bottom forward. They can't just be your top line. It can't just be about player have to be everybody doing it together. And I think we've seen that the last couple of games from the Avalanche where they know to a man. You have to have everybody pull on the rope in the same direction. John Michael Lau's is our guest here on Big Alan Jo Jo and you played defenseman in the National Hockey League, and so you Ah, lot of time faced some of the best offensive players in the game if you were to compare What Nathan MacKinnon has become as a player for this Avalanche team. What players? Would you compare him to? Know what I got to ask this question. Ah, over the weekend on Ah, show that I was doing and honestly, I would kind of bring him I would put him along the lines of Ah Hybrid Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg Combo because I think he's got the physicality that Pete used to bring on the ice and not afraid to reverse hit guys and get physical and he gets pissed off when when somebody takes the puck from him, and you know, at the same time you've got Man. He just got a lethal wrist shot He creates like like Joe used to on DH. When you put those two together, I see a lot of Nathan MacKinnon. I see a lot of both of those guys in Nathan MacKinnon and the way that he played the game. Wow, that is That is high phrase right there. Painters. Yeah, without talk to me about Kayama car and the kind of success he's had as a defensive and scoring goals. I mean, this is It's his record setting for rookie tohave the kind of success that he's had. He? Ah! Man. He just He continues to impress on a nightly basis. And Andi just when you think he can't make any more plays that that you just sit there and say, Wow, he makes another one. And you look at last night..

"Morning the national hockey league and its players been busy working on a plan to resume the season we're starting to see some clarity under discussion a twenty four team format for the playoffs it would move away from the divisional format used in recent years instead just use the conferences with twelve teams in the east and twelve of the west according to sportsnet in Canada the top four seeds in each would receive buys the other eight teams in each conference will play best of five play in series Black Hawk to be the twelfth floor bottom to see the west would face the fifth seeded admitted the Oilers if this plan goes

eleven ten six ten three six three eleven and if you want if you're caught you're welcome to do that without a lot of things going on of course all the indices that markets will be open today the Dallas thinks about a hundred fifty points this morning based on revenue issues with apple I think you got it for a Walmart in there too they had announced issues so did die dupont started Medtronic lots of others so needless to say stocks are moving downward the Dow's down about a hundred fifty four points in pre market open we'll see what happens here by the end of the day as we look all around the globe right now everything is down with the exception of utilities is the only sector in positive territory that was the same yesterday as well globally is again today we're looking at Asia all indices closed down today with the exception of the Shanghai composite believe or not very surprising it was up about point zero five percent at least it was green that's the best we can say for all the European indexes are in the major indexes are negative territory as we speak we are about two and a half hours away from the clothes there on the European markets but everything is in negative territory being led by the dax down no I'm sorry dear led by the forty one hundred down about one percent so significant moves on the downside we'll of course down as well something I probably need to talk a little bit about I am going to be mentioning that in our conference call if you are a partner we have a conference call today I don't know whether you realize that you should have gotten an alert I suspect you did get an alert with the code number two I get in on the call the call will be at one o'clock eastern time twelve o'clock central time like it usually is in may be our last conference call are we may just I do some audio conference call like things on the website on a more regular basis but anyway conference call a day conference call today one o'clock eastern time so if you are a partner I don't think you want to miss this one I updated my notes on it just again this morning are some things that are to be talking about only to our partners so you might want to be on that because you're not on the call that's perfectly okay I am not going to be asking you to do anything immediately so you're more than welcome and I would strongly suggest though I know the mask vast majority of you will not but I strongly suggest you go back tonight or tomorrow and maybe over the weekend of nothing else and listen to that conference call it'll be posted on our conference call section there all of the partner side of the website so hopefully you will catch that I think some of portent data moving forward and I don't think it would be a good idea to miss that I want to thank all of you warriors who continue to give to our twenty dollar a month campaign we are so grateful for that and we are asking people if they would be willing to support us in twenty twenty and beyond for twenty dollars a month and every day we get more people sign up for that is god continues to knowledge is people to come alongside us and support the ministry we are so grateful for that I can't even imagine what would happen if just our partner stated forget about all the listeners if Bob mon not a third if a in eight one eight of all the people listening that appreciate this ministry did that we probably have no concerns with anything the goddess put before us to do so are we sure would appreciate it and we are only doing twenty dollars a month because we believe in the law of large numbers I think god is going to raise up an army here to come along side it's and we're excited about that also man if you're not a partner you're crazy you need to be a partner if you can't off forty eight eighty five dollars a year then you shouldn't be investing so you don't need a partner I just die email somebody yesterday I told them don't partner yet wait a couple years based on what they have told me but look if if you partner with the ministry it would be a wise thing to do I think I'll help you out in the long run and I hope that you will do that six three six three eleven ten so Dow futures as are already mentioned down about a hundred fifty points after apple issues a revenue warnings and wal-mart's earnings have missed at almost every level Walmart blaming a lot of this on the unrest in Chile our lot of their stores most of their stores in South America there on that in Chile have closed as a result of the unrest going on there and they're blaming a lot of it on that but none the less every single one of their stores according to the report Walmart stores in China have remained open now I'm sure there are sales are down significantly so they are warning on earnings are the forward guidance excuse me messed for twenty twenty also we got warnings from a number of other companies as well it's not just apple and Walmart the national association of home builders are number comes out the index comes out later it's expected to hold steady at about seventy five that would be good if it did hold steady this is a February number that'd be great oil prices continue to age down folks continue to go down on Tuesday on negative sentiment about pack and it's allies failure to bolster crude prices in response to the corona virus and lock are they can only do so much I mean what you want to stop producing altogether we need pack to produce team but I guess are blaming you know pack for the low oil prices you can blame China for the lower oil prices not pack I am very quick to blame pack don't get me wrong when the blame is rightfully theirs they have done more than anybody in the world to try to shore up oil prices it just ain't work and it doesn't look like it's going to work anytime soon Brent crude oil trading down again one point eight percent fifty six dollars apparel can I just hard to believe that we got Brent crude at fifty six dollars a barrel on it's been in the fifties for a while now the we're looking at West Texas intermediate down one point six percent that's at fifty one twenty and I stayed some months ago that I did not think that we would see forty dollar forty some change in oil I've changed my mind I think we've got a good shot that that is I think that's a possibility that we could see our oil Barlow fifty and and stabilizing their below fifty for some time hi this is very very serious it's getting worse and it is a concern I don't think that we are going to see this V. shaped recovery in a market that everybody thinks I don't think that's going to happen by I hope I'm wrong so all the all ages just another thing in the economy here that is going to go yes.

S. at the G. twenty meeting last weekend on another stars as still expecting that dip downturn is dragging on for several months but there are some positive reviews as Chinese customers may order more memory from South Korea and she makers while like American companies are grappling with evading dean hallway ban and tariffs all were all like south Korean companies may see some stable member shipments about the industry what to slowly bottom out when it comes to Japan it's cutting exports will that impact Sampson anyway it's really complicated issue I think that the Japanese exports curb on the manager with the even bring impact to some song and the overall tech giants in the short term and the long term so the supply chain is the highly lake on dependence on Japanese suppliers at this point and some song is trying hard to find out substitutes but it's it's really it's really hard to find the local suppliers they would need to a high end the military or send ours and it will take some time sure so he thank you so we can there a timer for joining us.

He'll tell them Wilson out in front, and watching seven ten let them second to, to one. Now back to forts overnight America with Jeff rich pizzas. Pizzas. We are back just a couple of finals to get in the National Hockey League from Monday night was Toronto. Three Boston, one up in Toronto. So that one's going to go back to Boston for game seven no game. Seven necessary in the other Eastern Conference game that we saw on Monday night in Columbus, and was the hometown blue jackets once again, failing to advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs something that they have done every time they've made the playoffs, they have been one and done. And this is Washington's opportunity. There eleventh shot at the Pittsburgh Penguins in the playoffs and would you believe that just one of the first ten occasions, the Washington Capitals managed to get past the Pittsburgh Penguins in hockey and we're going to get another chance to see it? We'll see who ends up who has. A plant for the Eastern Conference in the NHL on up CNN who plays for the Western Conference in the NHL, but seven of the final eight spots are spoken for you'll have the predators and the jets in one of your Western Conference semifinals on the other side, you'll get Vegas in San Jose very regional matchup or regional that you're going to get with Winnipeg and Nashville. However, we got rid of Colorado, we got rid of the Minnesota while we got rid of the Los Angeles Kings. And we got rid of the other teams or of the Anaheim ducks so sharks night's second round. Everybody's gonna be the nights series. Everybody likes a good story. I'm told that I'm supposed to bring this to air to see that the historical cop Vegas does not existence for you. Have to go. Almost political war with this whole thing, and I would look at the Las Vegas gold nights as the United States of America. That was late to the game one last to arrive at the table, but just showed up it started dating at that is exactly how I would describe the Las Vegas Golden Knights. And there are Naga real season in the National Hockey League. They might just be the best. We might have gone from thirty to thirty one and added one that was better than the existing thirty. About that. Everything about how long it's take it the Thrashers slash jets franchise to grow into it. Competitive. Sign dusted offline right after he won the Stanley Cup of Chicago to twenty. And this is probably one of their better themes, national not to be forgotten about. Advanced to the finals, a year ago, I gave Pittsburgh better shot that we saw from San Jose, the year before a team that we saw because we, we've been seeing Pittsburgh, not getting into the Stanley Cup final and a team that is every bit as good as their record every bit as good as their number one seating. They took down the New Jersey Devils in the opening round. They wait for the litter of game seven between Boston and Toronto and. Toronto replay house money. If the that point Boston, it will be written up as a huge disappointment, Columbus the way that they started yields going to be looked at as disappointing but not, not quite a level that we would say goodbye to the Boston Bruins, if they do not advanced, the can't obey lady in the next round catch pads van Pence, be favored. I don't have. I don't have anything scientific other that I just think that it's time for Washington to go. Get off the puck quite frankly. You're do anything Alexandra can you gotta do it now, should do it soon. Then Nashville Vegas. That would be my preferred matchup. "You've been Rosberg you could show up at these guys. How are you going to talk to me? We're going to sit down, and they would have listened if he would have came out and said, hey, I just being matured. I need to be a better leader. That whole thing with the best squad. I got it up because you told me a brownies you already know they're immature. Here's the thing when you're maturity is through the normal natural evolution what you're saying is correct. That process move when this abrupt when Tiger Woods abrupt being a brook things change. Everything your world flips upside down, and you make changes like that. It takes time for things to crystallize. And I think that's where Ben Rothlisberger is now before we go. I'll have to say a word or two about the most improbable and entertaining playoff season we've ever seen, and it's happening in the National Hockey League, you still have time to catch a piece of it as the Saint Louis blues and the Boston Bruins clash in the Stanley Cup final starting Monday night. Let me get you up to speed the to number one seeds calorie, and Tampa Bay both lost in the first round seriously. After winning a record six two games in the regular season and drawing comparisons to some Wayne Gretzky. All time. Great Edmonton teams, the Tampa Bay Lightning exited the postseason in just four games swept by the Columbus blue jackets. That's the equivalent of the seventy three win Golden State Warriors getting swept in the first round of the two thousand sixteen NBA playoffs crazy isn't it but it's Tampa's collapsed. That's even more crazy. That's the store. There's a story even more crazy than that. The Saint Louis blues in the first week of January, the blues were in last place across the NHL..

"So they don't have a castle. I understand from a talent standpoint. But a lot of that is on the offensive side of the puck the Allders played defensive structure which wins in the National Hockey League. They don't have a lot of experience in goal matter of fact, the guy they're going to go with Leonard has less experience than Greis in the playoffs. But there's not going to be a lot of shots. I think the islanders problem has been there penalty power play which has struggled all year. But it's not like that penguins. Kill is anything. Great. So I do love the islanders in this. But, you know, getting here's the thing. I would say about tonight's game. You work so hard to get home ice advantage. The islanders have home ice for the first time since nineteen eighty eight. You don't wanna squander it in the very first game of the playoffs. You don't wanna squander? So let's get to work here. And see if they can get it done blues and the jets from Winnipeg this is going to be a classic series. It really is going to be. The blues have been the best team in the National Hockey League outside of Tampa since January second Winnipeg is kind of stumbled along. But Dave Maloney made a great point our broadcast over the weekend. I forget whether is in Pittsburgh the home game against Columbus about Nashville and Winnipeg sometimes wing, you don't have the season you had the year before sometimes it's just you know, you're gonna make the playoffs, and maybe the mentality wasn't there down the stretch that it should have been was it was it important for Winnipeg or Nashville to win their divisions as much as it was just make sure you got into the playoffs it meant so much the Saint Louis that really drove down the stretch. But if you look at Nashville and Winnipeg they look like a shell of what they were last year is that a psychological ploy that you just couldn't get themselves fired up because of while they were last year or is there something seriously wrong? I don't think Hulo buck has been as good as he was last year. But in my pick of the jets, I think that he will find himself in the postseason Bennington has never played in the playoffs before. For. So maybe that's an advantage that the blues that the jets will have line. I think will wake up shy fli Wheeler. They got buffalo and back and healthy their hope hopefully gonna get more see back before the series is over. So that begins tonight at eight o'clock eastern time at nine thirty. It's the stars in the predator. So that's we had eight thirty start in Nashville because they wanna try to space out all the time. I think the stars much like the Allender built for the postseason. Now. The question is just like the islanders who is gonna step up is going to be Sagan. Is it going to be Ben is going to be Klingberg is going to be zuccarello? Is it going to be any number of the guys they've had that have really maybe underachieved for the most part in the regular season for Dallas. Those are the guys that I think that our wanna step up. But but to me a guy that I look at that. I think can really carry the day for the Dallas Stars is Raja Lafayette. He's got twenty nine goals during the course of the year spin to the playoffs. Distantly in his National Hockey League career that is a guy that may be can pick up the slack offensively. For Dallas Nashville, basically about Rena they're basically about their defense. But you do have some offense of weapons there. Johannesen Forsberg Arvidsson. They do seem a little top heavy to me. But I do think Dallas can steal the series Golden Knights and sharks. The battle of the underachievers. The battle of the guys that just didn't seem to play well March into April flurry is back, but his EJ Radic pointed out earlier in the week. He came back the final two games of GIS still ended up losing those games of the sharks..

"Game in Berlin a couple of days before they do the game and Brian. Exciting. It's cool to see the NHL starting to branch out. And I think that you know, we go to Cuban here for a second. You know, we are more we have to now we really don't want to make this one point. You know, we're more internationally known. Okay. Maybe and know, your bigger, China, and whatever however outside of that you look at the eastern European countries. The NHL is huge it soccer. And it's hockey in these countries and even the finish Finland Sweden all the Scandinavian countries. It's huge out there. Okay. All right. All right. So hold on a second. No, the NBA has a reach in professional basketball has a reach unfortunately throughout AustralAsia. That's a big word for all your raider fans out there. And also as a big reach in South America as well. Right. And I'm not saying that it doesn't have a big reach. I what I'm saying is the NHL has an equally big reach in those countries. How about seeing a whole NHL league over in Africa because they're going to do that with basketball what professional basketball, you're gonna see teams in Nigeria and South Africa in all kinds of other places down there. They're going to have a separate leaked down. Or did you hear about that? But if they want to do that also. In the National Hockey League down there. I got to be really hard for the ice freeze down there. But they've got air conditioning. I know that was a horrible joke. But yeah, I think that it would love to see the NHL expanded different countries. I would love to see the K H L become kind of merging with the NHL a little closer. No, they're already a minor league team for our minor league system for the NHL to see if bought up a little closer, basically triple A for the National Hockey League. What you agree. No. I think that triple eight for the National Hockey League. Joe, I think the K H L is a great place for European players to be noticed any known. I know, but I think really that level of play the overall level of player is just slightly under the product of the National Hockey League. So I really believe the cage L is kind of like the triple A league for the NHL. I would say that if we're going to make this comparison of the of the NC double A being the triple A of the NBA than the would be the NBA DL Japanese baseball league is the triple A league really major league baseball, and you can find so many great talents that there. I'm just saying that. From the NHL. I'm not deluding my pool. I'm not saying, okay. We're only popular in the United States and Canada. And that's it. And that's all know expand out. It goes far as you want to go try going to China. You know during the during the Winter Olympics hockey, they loved themselves, some hockey and you look at Russia. Russia, obviously, you have a lot of great hockey players that come out of back country. So expand outs more try to get some NHL games in Moscow. Try to get them in Saint Peter's by the NHL needs to reach further east instead of staying in western Europe. I absolutely agree. And you know, it's kind of funny I talked to a couple of people that I know that our English, and they said before we got to America before we got to the United States and saw it. We never knew what hockey was maybe start putting some stuff in England start putting some in France. I get rid of that Premier League. Nobody watches that here in this country for the most part. I don't know why NBC pushes that. It's ridiculous. But I'll tell you what else I'm gonna tip my hat. Give a big round of applause for each Zouqi walks.

"And I think that the right thing by apologizing or or explaining himself the next day. But it wasn't a good look sometimes, you know, I don't think it was necessarily intentional. But I think that, you know, listen, you're on national television. You gotta know better than that. I mean, this this is the woman that is played a lot of hockey her life. She's not obviously, she's not a man playing in the National Hockey League. But she's played a lot of hockey. And she just went through a terrific experience gold medal winner. And you know, what she's watching and she's paid attention. She knows who's playing and she knows what's going on out there. So that's just one. No. So I think it was handled. Well, I yeah. I think on the on the back end, it was, you know, in the world, we live in everybody goes crazy, right because Twitter goes wild. And you know, peer doesn't have the biggest fan club. Although I think, you know, at the end of the day, we can always we always talk about people on the air. People talk about you talk about me that you know, I liked this guy. I don't like that guy. That's the way it is. Right. We know this much about here. He does the work on a question. I'm wearing he's not. They're going like, you know, who's playing you know, what's going on. But I think that was one that you probably if he could take it back. I'm sure would. And you know, you get on with life after that wasn't a good. It wasn't a good look for sure. And I thought she hamlet. Well, and I thought everybody did the right thing there. So sometimes the right thing could be done after the wrong thing was done. We all make mistakes. That's yes. We do. Every day between four. Oh, and I'll make more on the case show and in buffalo on Friday when I'm there. So I'll talk to you next Monday, buddy. All right. That's the great.

"The. Is that game misconduct podcast with Don. League-record? Welcome to the Tuesday of games conduct. I am down like regular jump right into it. Austin Matthews signs of five year, fifty eight point seventeen million dollar contract with the Toronto Maple leaf today. The twenty one year old gets eleven point six three four million dollars annually. He was going to be restricted free agent on July first with the they believed to take care of that. They've taken care of Neil Lander. They've already obviously taken care of Taveras with the contract that they gave him stealing him away from the islanders. They're still the players. They've got to worry about restricted free agency for captain and Moner's. Well, this is what happens when you got a lot of young players on team. And you gotta try to take care of everybody. But certainly first and foremost added to take care of Austin Matthews one of the best players in the National Hockey League. So he is locked up. So that's one less concern for Toronto. Now, they can kind of focus on the other restricted free agents. And they either deal with them now or they deal with them when they become restrictive reagents. So. Compensation there. So there's no hurry. But Matthews though is an important piece to the puzzles another focus consp- be maintaining that number two spot in the division getting home ice in the first round of the playoffs. And eventually getting out of the first round of the plows, which is certainly something this Toronto police team has to be focused on. And I think if they get the goaltending and the blue line and make a couple of deals they can get something done. Speaking of deals Muhsin was the first real chip that was dealt before the deadline and he scored his first goal as a leaf in the Toronto Maple leaves six two one victory over the ducks last night. The ducks are in free. They've allowed fifteen goals in the last two games member on Saturday. They lost to Winnipeg nine three where the jets scored six goals in the first period. So things a mess for Toronto scores again as things or mess for the ducks excuse me to VERA scores again kings beat the Rangers four to three and in this rebuild in this reimagining of the Rangers. The idea here is that they have to learn how to win and that is not really been the case. Here down the stretch. A lot of these close games they've fallen overtime shootouts they've lost. And Marc Staal. Kind of had a comment out of Assad is mouth in the post game about overtime, not being real hockey. And there's certainly a lot of frustration for the Rangers, savannah Jetta just but unconscious actually broke a franchise record as he was involved in ten consecutive goals to the Rangers to better than Raj. You'll bears record of eight savannah jet hits the post, and then what ends up happening when a missed opportunity on three on three happens usually creates an opportunity for the other team. To Foley comes down with a two on one with campy holds onto the puck beats long Quist and the kings. The worst team the Western Conference and beating the Rangers sweeping the season series heartbreaking loss for the Rangers. They gave a goal the minute to go on a campy tally is second of the game. So ranger squander an opportunity to get two points that you'd said get one but coach wants to see this team. Learn how to win and so far. Through the first fifty two games in these situations. They haven't fared, particularly. Well, they've got thirty games to change it. Obviously the playoffs are not going to happen here. The problem is is as we get closer and closer to the deadline. Kevin Hayes is likely gone Mazzarella was likely gone. Adam acquainting, scored his first goals arranger likely gone. So this is gonna probably be in the final couple of months of the season kids playing in what might not be that competitive hockey considering who they keep now. Those two love Kreider, those loves Abana Jad, they'll still have some quality players not saying that the rest of the season's going to be a complete mail in. But even with their roster pretty much intact from what they thought they were going to have the beginning of the season. They're losing these close games with thirty games left. And only a matter of time before some of these significant players are still on their roster. It'll be interesting to see how things go the rest of the way..

"The trauma of leaves have acquired defenseman Jake Muhsin from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for forward, Carl French drum the rights to Sean dursey who is a recent traffic answering us first round pick in the twenty nineteen NHL draft Faysal Kameda taken away six months. I'm sorry. This is really the key is ability to play the pop end of our defense that plane all obviously growing up, you know, everyone is released fan and those included who know kind of funny how life works and here we are coming back home to play for the team going up kind of. Probably that, you know, as well Ricard Grahn bring this week national coach will be aboard here in a couple of moments looking forward to talking to him about a number of things the differences between key players in North America and Sweden and the chances of him showing up behind the bench in the National Hockey League and other issues that revolve around but are not exclusive to Swedish hockey players. So stay tuned for Ricard Grundberg here on the podcast and a couple of moments. Meantime, Jake Muhsin is now ex of the Los Angeles Kings. He's now a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs on that blue line with one more year on his ticket at four million dollars a copy to which Elliott Friedman says blank, I said, I think it's a good trade for them. I mean, they're in it to win it right now. And they didn't take anything off of their roster. You know, I think one of the reasons that they did not go with some other possibilities including the likes of Brett, patchy and Alex. Her Angelo is that it was going to cost them pieces off their current roster. I don't know what the talks with Carolina turned out to be or not be. But it was going to involve a player either, captain or Yonsin or something like that. I have heard and I do believe that the talks was Saint Louis for Pedder. Angelo involve William knee Lander which Toronto did not want to do. So that was something they were not willing to consider as we saw they could do Muhsin without taking off their current roster. And I think Muslim was a guy that they are interested in even though he's a left hand shot. And what I've heard is. They were Muslin's most diligent and aggressive pursuer. I believe Montreal been there. He was in the patch ready deal. The aboard the L, and I think that's Tampa was there. But when it really mattered who was the team that was aggressive. It was Toronto. And he was the guy they targeted. Let's say there must have been other teams. You mentioned Montreal you mentioned Tampa's while you do wonder about a team like the boss. Bruins. How much of this is the maple leaves got Muhsin and someone else that may police may face in the playoffs. Didn't I think there's something to that? But again, the only other teams I really heard were Tampa Montreal. I'm sure there were others. I can't say for sure that they were there may believes done. I think they'll look for a right hand D. But now it's dollar in dollar out. Now, you can look at sites like cap friendlier puck pedia, and you can say, okay, they've still got a boat, you know, some cap room about four million cap room. But what you don't want is Mitch modern Austin Matthews bonuses to go into next year. You know, the fact that monitored and go to the all star game eliminated one of those bonuses. But I think your budgeting I was told for about three point seven five million. So you've got to keep that doesn't happen. So it's dollar in dollar out for the Maple Leafs. Now who does this help the most on that blue line? Some would make the point that this helps Riley Frederik Anderson someone made the point that it helps Travis Thurman. Because it moves Ron Haines you down to a lesser role probably paired with him. Yeah. Probably I think that's all true..

"From the vantage point of the goalie, the National Hockey League has been testing chips in players clothing end in pucks, and it asked six tech companies spanning virtual reality and sports gambling to develop possible uses for the information. So the results include enhanced ways to experience a game. But the biggest commercial opportunity maybe in sports gambling and in game betting. So what you get for me. I've got a few things you follow the Consumer Electronics Show kind of you. So this year, apparently, there's a lot of emphasis on products marketed to adults if you catch drift, including Alexa, and Siri enabled devices. Really? Yes. Ooh. Yeah. And and passwords well known for use for during use all we'll just leave it at that. Oh, and and you're ready virtual holographic strippers. That's right. This hollow deck is here. He's so excited. It's gonna be the downfall of mankind because why leave the house? Yeah. Why are you be in the basement for the rest of your life? Will you go? You leave the house for your job, and you go back to the house. Yeah. That's it. One hundred percent, boom. So you can afford the, you know, the virtual stuff and in an amazing story. So last year, they actually had their little conference thing here in the in in carried so here in the triangle, they who the flat earth society. Oh, yes. I remember. So guess what? They're planning for the twenty twenty conference. Oh, I can only I don't know the conference will be held on a cruise ship is the cruise for the edge of the mat? What if they don't find it?
