". What if you could get traffic fatalities down to zero? Well, the city of Hoboken, New Jersey, just across the river from New York City, seems to have done it. Nobody there has died from a collision with a car in four years. Ryan sharp is here to explain how they made that happen. He is Hoboken director of transportation and parking. Welcome to all things considered. Thank you for having me. It's a pleasure. So according to the national highway traffic safety administration, almost 43,000 people in the U.S. died in motor vehicle traffic crashes last year. That is the highest number since 2005. So while numbers all over the country were going up, how did hobo can get the number to zero? What's the great question? Hoboken has been playing a long game when it comes to traffic safety for a number of years. Dating back before COVID. And playing the long game through incremental changes and improvements over a series of years. So you talk about incremental changes and improvements. Like if you and I were going for a walk through downtown Hoboken, what are some of the specific things we would see that have made a difference? Well, a lot of the things that Hoboken has been doing to improve traffic safety are low cost. They're quick implementation, but they're also high impact. So we know through our crash data about 88% of crashes happen at intersections. So we have focused on trying to reduce conflicts at our intersections, especially on our high crash corridors. So things like trying to improve sightlines at corners by doing what we call daylighting, so that can be installing something as simple as what we call a vertical delineator post or a flexible Ballard. These posts get installed within 25 feet of crosswalks. And they physically restrict cars from parking right up against a crosswalk. So it's not a blind corner if you're going to take a turn, somebody's going to see you if you're going to cross the street, you can spot the cars that are coming. That's correct. It's a very simple cost effective thing you can do. But it has a big impact. One thing that you won't see is something called a leading pedestrian interval. And basically what that means is we've programmed our traffic signals to give pedestrians a few second head start when they get into the crosswalk during their pedestrian phase without having to worry about turning vehicles. Oh yeah, I've seen that here in D.C. two, the walk light turns on before the green light goes. Your plan seems to de emphasize car ownership and create space for pedestrians and cyclists. How often do you hear from drivers who feel like you're squeezing them out and what do you tell them? Well, the goal of the vision zero program is to focus on safety for all modes of transportation. What we know though through our crash data is that pedestrians and cyclists in particular are the most vulnerable users of the streets in Hoboken. And that's pretty much the same for every city in the country. And so culturally, people elevate pedestrian safety in Hoboken. At the top of the hierarchy. So even if you'd commute to work by car, at some point, you're going to be a pedestrian in Hoboken. So we try to not pit anyone mode against each other as much as possible. There are a lot of cities that have implemented vision zero programs to reduce traffic fatalities. But in places like Washington, D.C., deaths have actually increased, since that goal was announced. What makes Hoboken different? Well, it's hard to speculate what's working well or not working well in other cities. But in Hoboken, an incremental approach over several years that includes more than just engineering, but also education and a focus on changing the culture. The simple improvements like daylighting are leading pedestrian intervals or adding curb extensions, these things are still in place and they've been having a positive impact, and people have gotten used to seeing these things in town, and they ask for more. So it's continuing to build off its own success. And frankly, we've been fortunate so far not to have a setback, but that can happen any time, right? We're well aware of that. It's happened in other cities. So we're continuing to push ahead with new initiatives. Again and again to try to continue to keep that progress in place. That is Ryan sharp Hoboken's director of transportation and parking. Thanks a lot. Thank you. Star Trek fans are mourning the death of Michelle Nichols. "Happens when you take a small TV and hit it with a sledgehammer. Look what I'm learning. This is after art school. I'm stupid. Yes. What can I say? We're in Hoboken. You know that fucked up warehouse that's down by that one overpass to get into Hoboken. And immediately on the left, there's like a big warehouse with like some random businesses in there. Go to a warehouse where they were looking. They had Craigslist ad. I'm sorry. You're safe now, Jess. You're safe now. Come to the spooky warehouse. We'll pay you a $100 once. To keep you working here for two months. I edited their videos. They had the little cameras, the GoPros on people's heads while they were smashing TVs and shit like that. And I had to make shitty little edits of their videos. Wow. Bad job. She edited to like what to Lincoln park or I think it was cage the elephant actually borderlands had just come out so rest of the wicked. But not only didn't pay me and stuff like that. And I was just like, yo, this sucks, but my boss almost got me killed in a car accident because he drove me home and I lived in Hoboken at the top. So that's like a mile to walk. So it's like, I just sometimes walked it, but he was like, he offered me a ride one day. He was like, Jesse guy, give you a ride. So I was like, all right, cool. He had a great accent. He's Turkish. But he Hoboken is a series of pedestrian death traps. Every single intersection has a stop sign. Basically. It's bad for legs. Bad for life people with legs. So yeah, don't be a pedestrian in Hoboken if you can help it because every car is has to stop another song, isn't it? Don't be a pedestrian in hope okay. Suggestion. But yeah, he was admitting that I have like one hour of sleep under my belt right now. He's driving me a mile and we almost got into three different car accidents, including almost getting T boned by a pickup truck because he just blew through one of those stop shines. He almost hit a pedestrian. He zoomed away from that by the way. I think he might have run over the bitch's feet or something. I was telling him to let me out of the car, but he locked the doors. Harrowing. It was daytime, though, for the record. It makes the story slightly less scary. But yeah, when he finally dropped me off and I got out of the car, I called him a psycho, said this internship is over. And they ghosted me. They goes to me. They didn't even fire me. They just ghosted me and never called me in again. And then later, I get a message from him. He's like, Jessica, I need you to do a thing for me. Can you Photoshop for me? A diploma. And I was like, no..

"One of those great people is a gentleman by the name of gianno Caldwell, Fox News political analyst, and host of the new I heart radio podcast that everybody's listening to. It's called out loud with johnno Caldwell's young author. He's a great guy. Welcome to the show, my friend, so great to have you with us today. Man, this has been so long since I've been on this. This particular radio show, you know, Sebastian, we go way back. He said that. Way back. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He said he texted me, he said, wait, wait, Giotto tell giano I said, hey, you know? And Giotto, you know, full disclosure, Gianna's on my morning show this morning. And he said, I said, John, I want to jump on the air with us on this immortan Luther King day, and I appreciate it. John back from London, he is. He is the real powers. The real Austin Powers got a coworker. Zaggy baby. Yes, there you go. You know, haven't been in London since November. I can reaffirm what everyone already knows. There's no place like home America is truly the land of the free and we got to keep it as free as possible. And as Joe Biden is making that very, very difficult. For many people across the country, but thank God the Supreme Court got involved. I mean, too bad that Kavanaugh didn't have the backbone to say, no, we're going to no vaccine mandates on anyone. But here we are. Here we are. Yeah. And that's nice of you to say that because when you travel around, you know, my hero Frank Sinatra always said that. You know, he would always go around and he would say, he would go, you know, I always look forward and I always tell everybody, I'm from Hoboken, New Jersey baby. I'm super super super awkward on the phone which you wouldn't think better on facetime but he called me and i also had just woken up from an app so i was kind of like non the mood to talk and he was like really trying to make small talk trying to finalize things for our movie date and yeah he's just like a really good guy like he's he's a really guy matt successful like definitely knows what he wants. He's a few years older than me. He's like thirty two. I think So yeah that's like kinda weird. I'm saying that and that you know what. Let me tell you eight's really exciting to meet someone that is so fun and then also like you guys kind of vibe easily and things aren't really awkward ever with you guys and then. I hung out with a group of friends right. We've all hung out in groups of friends and he's really nice and doesn't act weird or different in front of groups of friends and then i've also hung out a little bit by ourselves and it wasn't weird or awkward or anything and It's nice to be like be talking to a guy that wants to hang out with you just as much as you want to hang out with them like it's nice to feel wanted. I guess like the reciprocate shen. So i don't know i just haven't really dated like that awhile. You know i was dating that one hoboken guy and it was just like weird and things were kind of like and i didn't really like the communication. He was a little younger. So i just i mean i liked him a lot but i like it just didn't seem right. It felt like something was wrong. There and i don't think it should ever be like that when you're trying to get to know someone like kind of starting to date someone. I think that it should just be really simple. And if you guys like each other's vibes and like hanging out then just make it happen. And if you're gonna make it happened like four times a week then make that happen four times a week but nonetheless like i'm having fun and doing my thing and like there's no conversations about what is this what's happening. I don't really think that needs to be a thing. i think that we're just kind of getting to know each other and trying to spend time together and yeah weird. Honestly lake very very weird. But i'm happy. I like it. I mean i find myself thinking about him and like just like smiling sometimes and honestly excited to hang out with him. I'm i'm excited to hang out with him. I'm excited hanging out. Oliver for all of the friend group like they are so fun amazing. I'm excited hang out with him and not drink. Every time we've hung out which is really only been two times. We ended up getting smashed. So we'll see how our movie i'm thinking today. I don't know if he is saying the day. I'm just saying it's because if it's just two people going out to me that's a date. And he liked bought the tickets and stuff so we're gonna see how it goes. Obviously i'll keep you posted about the crazy events that i'm getting into this weekend as well Saturday or friday night for the show. I definitely plan on drinking. Because i thought that i was going to have to work saturday morning and i don't so i'm not working saturday. I'm going and i'm going in. I'm going in friday. i'm to. I'm hoping to get carried home. I am hoping to get so smashed. That i like 'em crawling to the elevator shaft my building or different shaft. But yeah alright. Y'all love you love you next time i see you. I just wanted to say that I'm able to strengthen friendships even by playing a video games online, and I wonder what some parents are thinking about their young kids. Their screen time and how it's their only chance of Social. I'd really Yeah, well, when you're playing video games online with these friends, are you also like hanging out with them or just seeing them in the in the game context? I'm just really in the game. Thank you very much. Yeah, and you can kind of chat at the same time as you're actually playing. So that's I guess that's really what I was trying to get out with him is how much How much do you do that you know, at the same time is you're actually in the in the game moves, but Bob in Bay Ridge, your W N Y C Hi, Bob. Hi, Brian. Thanks for having me on I met new friends this this year. You know, it's been a pretty rough year. Socially can't really see my friends and go hang out at bars or restaurants like we used to. But we had a new wine store that opened in my neighborhood. Quite a surprise. On guy be quickly became great friends with everybody that works there and it's a really cool Store and the people are friendly and it was just nice to have You know, I knew nice curated wine store in the neighborhoods. So is that like in person talking to other customers, or how do you mean? You made new friends there? Oh, well, when you know when I first saw the store opening, I was kind of surprised because most businesses right here closing, um, so look like a really nice store. I walked in. Actually, they were having their opening party for just like the friends of the owners. And I knocked on the door and they let me in, and they were very happy because it was their first day and we started talking and became great friends and they're very knowledgeable, and they Recommended me a lot of great wine. So I stop in like every time I passed by when I get groceries, even if I'm not Buying wine. I stop in and just chat, and we've kind of hung out. You know, outside of Store also so really made some new friends. That's great, Bob. Thank you very much. Denise, in Brooklyn, you're on W and my C Hi, Denise. Good morning s 0 2001 is that we see are Brooklyn Flint friends a lot more than we see our Manhattan friends just because it feels easier and safer to just meet around the corner and go for a walk or something. Would just sort of shifted who were able to see, um And also we have become much better friends with other parents from preschool because we're doing so many outdoor play D. And before you know, on weekends, we would often go to concerts by ourselves or museum. Um, just our family whenever it sort of suited our schedule, But now that's out of the picture, and we're just really prioritizing. Whatever social interactions we can possibly have safely so We're just outside of the playground and at the park a lot more with other families. And those those friendships have been new for us. I think you know, largely because of the pandemic that makes sense and on your first point I heard somebody say neighbors are the new friends. It sounds like that's the case for you. Absolutely. Yeah, absolutely. Please. Thank you very much will a and sleepy hollow You're on w N Y C Hi, Wila. Hi. Can you hear me? Yep. Thank you for your consistency. During all of this. I just wanted to say it's been really grounding, but I've been like I'm in college now. But because of the tendon, Mick, I've gotten a lot closer with my friends from high school and even middle school is just a really tight knit. Group. Really close friends that we don't ever see each other, but we face time. That's really beautiful. And also like I had the chance to get closer with my family, which is something I probably would have never Able to do without dependent, actually, even though it's been hard and not like Social. Technically, it's been Like more of a deep bond, which is like I really appreciate it with your parents. You mean We always my with my family at home, and also just with like friends that I might have lost contact with. We haven't all been stuck at home Bored. Well, thank you so much. Call us again. Eunice in Manhattan. You're on W N Y C. Hi, Eunice. Hi, Brian. Thank you for taking my college. Listen to you every day, So this is really nice. So I'm a theater actor, and obviously our industry is just non existent at the moment, and it's normal form. So I've been taking some online classes at online class called General Open Studios and the community There has Really, um, brought out a lot of friendship that I would not have otherwise known And just by, you know, finding someone's checked comments incredibly funny, and then we became friends, and now we see each other for play dates. For God's and also I foster dogs through hearts and bones and Uh, finding other fosters in my neighborhood where we can do puppy playdate because it's so important to socialize them at this age that we've really come toe find a lot of friendship through that as well. Which is a lovely Side effect of the of the pandemic. Also fostering has just gone through the roof during this time when everyone is stuck at home. Yeah, so puppy playdates, and we know that it's it's harder to get a pat Then it was before so many people are getting pats during the pandemic, which is great in the rescue, animal community and for other reasons, and you know you're the second person to suggest that the chat functions in social media sense while you're doing the main activity, which is not chatting. Actually deep in bond. So the first caller is talking about, you know, gaming with friends, and so if he's had with them, that's that's through the chat, and sometimes they razz each other and whatever it is, and you're talking about taking online classes, and at the same time as the class is going on. You're also chatting with people on the side, right? Out my new best friend who lives in Harlem. We became friends because she made me spit out my drink while I was reading her chat. And then I private message her and we became. We've become cooking and dog friends ever since this thank you very much. Appreciate it. Mm Mary and Asbury Park ur WN My C Hi, Mary. Hi, Brian. Thank you so much for taking my call. So your friends changing your friendships in the long pandemic. Absolutely. They've been shifting. And I am actually a birthday, Lola. Um I don't know if you know what that is, but I provide labor support for Mom's in labor and I run a maternal journaling group once a week, which has been amazing, Um and it has expanded my community hugely. So we meet once a.

My name is Mike Russell my sobriety date is February two thousand eighteen I'm not a big day tracker, but I could look it up in my phone. Actually you know I don I would. Consider myself. like a high functioning person like not very. I wasn't a daily drinker. Drinks problem once every other week. And my challenge was been shrinking. Got It got it and tell us a little bit about you. Now you know what you do for a living where you live age family anything like that I'm happily married I have two wonderful kids I live in Hoboken New Jersey outside new, York City and currently relocated to our summer home. City New Jersey about a block from the beach. which is awesome, and then I have also my family and my sister, my sister in law, my brother law and their two kids. Here's while so we a lively wonderful home. Very lucky. Circumstances Nice Little Coruna OAC's. Yeah. Let's get into it. Let's let's about your story, and if you would tell us in ten minutes or less, you drink how long it was a problem and why you decided to stop High School I. Think I. I didn't drink a lot. I drank little bit It wasn't a big part of my life very much into sports, student, government and right between high school and college. I just out of nowhere. came down with a non Hodgkin's lymphoma and is very surprising to me. traumatic obviously, and I checked into hospital had wonderful doctors in went through chemotherapy at I, was very fortunate to. Be Able to go to college a semester late and come out in full recovery, but I think things kind of change for me there and when I did get to college, I started to drink pretty frequently and I would say that was like the point when. I started to drink a law you know throughout college pretty consistent. In then I graduated moved to Manhattan, and I had a job in banking, and I was trying to Ford my rent so I had a side hustle in Bayliss. Promotions, which again weeds bit more drinking within two years, I had the nightlife promotions business was actually producing more income from you than my job, so I left my job and I went into that industry time for about eight years, and that was eight years more shrinking, and towards the end I met my wife, and I wanted to kind of have a career change and I knew if I wanted to have a family and it was pretty clear she wanted. To Change? In order to have a family I did eventually I was thought. Hey, you know this is probably circumstantial. It'll go away, but I ended up moving into technology, which is eventually where I wanted to be I wasn't a simple transition, but I got there and the drinking go away, just kind of morphed in I from there was. A trigger drinker I wasn't drinking. Galley I didn't have cravings. I never thought about drinking but I'd hit a trigger. You know out with friends out to dinner on vacation and say I'm GonNa have one or two drinks. Inevitably, it was countless number of drinks, and that was my challenge.

New York - N.J. steps up to help front-line workers

"It is often said that if you want something done ask a busy person such is the case with Amy Frank Goldman she runs her own wealth management firm in New Jersey she's also home schooling her daughter currently recovering from the corona virus and just last week launched the local chapter of the front line appreciation group on Facebook where she helped raise money for men and women on the front lines of the pandemic she's here to talk about her group AB how did this begin for you I would think about what it really cross the river from New York City and we were around for nine eleven but all the started blowing up and we're watching what happens in New York City I didn't think I had to do something so I started looking around for the opportunity that kind of help the front line workers who believe that the not the front end of this but also I kept seeing all these stories about small businesses that were struggling with self you know if we were to show our appreciation for the people who are online why can't we do that by using local restaurants to to fund that goal to give some of that money back into the community out there I started a page on Facebook and it just went bananas so how does it work so basically what we do is we take a donation from the people who work during the day of the FIFA pages they are both of them on the peacock set up in those two nations are used to pay local restaurants to deliver meals to a number of different areas of the province so far would cover your rooms I see rooms in hospitals has been silent again care center others a certain hotline whether entering the coronavirus called for the town in city hall you ought to put areas will actually branching out into pharmacist store clerk so even in little league international appreciation to all the people who are out there leading up function in the new normal that we have so what's cooperation but like if you have a lot of buy in from supporters it's been incredible we have two thousand members in the group demanded money that we raise is is truly inspirational and it didn't go to do things that you know initially I thought we'd be able to provide a couple meals but now it looks like we'll be able to do that for weeks a month or south based on the money that was raised well for speak with Anne Frank golden she's the founder of the Hoboken and Jersey city New Jersey frontline appreciation group on Facebook they're raising money for health care workers so in terms of distribution do you have volunteers deliver things out of that and work with the beautiful about it so what about certain Hoboken hello they had a delivery business but for the most part eleven had done in Florida right so they can bring a lot of those restaurant into delivery only in their delivery people that work for those first on to the ones that have been facilitating the delivery and it's been kind of a fun experience because I love to share the photos of the food and preparing an offer the food in the hands of the into the front line people also the nurses the doctors they've actually receive the food in a long time some of the donors wanted me to deliver themselves and sending pictures of themselves like him to come over to the nurses station which is like a really cool thing to see you know Willie so have the health care workers responded well they probably domino's just hopes I think I think that they have a lot more variety in the lab options and that's another thing I try to make it through the week of the nutrient dense now that their job is not just mentally taxing the critical impact with while so serving them pizza and sub five need to week seven to week that's really not going to be the fact that he's a resources so I'm very specific when they speak the restaurant about what they're preparing for them making sure they're getting a good meal but you know that the end of the day it's really comes from the heart in the two people who I don't wanna call them unsung heroes but in normal times were not in the time of the pandemic or crisis of course people appreciate what they do you know what it really comes before court right now for those around the country listening who aren't familiar Jersey city and Hoboken very heavily populated areas certainly no choices of food right have you gone out on a limb and thrown something exotic at these health care workers I'm sure that we had a vegan restaurant a little bit you know what we've got everything from Italian to Thai food in Indian food coming later this week so it's definitely a lot of variety I think the one joint I so I think I saw a stat from small business owners generally speaking who say they're down to like eighty percent of business at this point under this under these restrictions because they're limited to just take out or delivery anybody say that what you're doing is helping keep them afloat and they might otherwise close account for me is that I want to be fair and sometimes give the opportunity probably have everybody's gotten Hoboken to participate before I go back to him he has already done a delivery so for being realistic you know five or six hundred on delivery you can change the bottom line over a week two weeks three weeks for a company or for a cyclical restaurant what I'm trying to do is when we were away please post operative could show the health care workers I always put the link to that restaurant in the in the polls and I think you're considering going out thing to consider this restaurant what I'm trying to bring awareness to these small business owners the people know that they're delivering other they're still out there and maybe they have a doctor orders not restaurant in awhile or maybe they had ordered the question before and so now in addition to being able to provide something for the front line we're getting a little bit of P. are the people who are helping us make that happen well that is Amy Amy Frank Goldman again head of her local chapter of the front line appreciation group on Facebook in

A Brief History Of The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

"Rain stuff lauren. Boko bomb here on the fourth Thursday of the month the same day that most Americans gather around the dining table to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. The macy's Thanksgiving Day parade marches through the streets of New York City city elaborate floats giant helium balloons marching bands acrobats and celebrities create a carnival atmosphere for more than eighty years. The parade has has drawn spectators who lined the streets cheer on the participants covering two and a half miles. A three hour spectacle runs from nine. AM to noon. The holiday event has grown and grown over time from a small parade of floats and live animals organized by macy's employees into large-scale annual tradition to this day though apart from performing coming talent all other parade participants such as balloon handlers are macy's employees and their family and friends. The parade showcases more than eight thousand participants pence and crowds of more than three point. Five million spectators crammed Manhattan streets for close up view. Another fifty million watch the prayed on TV. So how did we you get here. macy's department store celebrates its one hundred and sixty first anniversary in two thousand nineteen store staged. Its first Thanksgiving Day parade in nineteen twenty twenty four that year it was called the macy's Christmas parade and it featured three floats pulled by horses. Four bands and zoo animals from the central park zoo including camels donkeys elephants and goats. Santa Claus was last in the lineup. A tradition that continues to this day it was all staged by end at the request. Request of macy's employees many of whom had just emigrated to America from Europe along to celebrate their new home in nineteen twenty seven the gigantic balloons. That are now. The signature element of the parade made their first appearance with the help of helium. The balloon replaced the zoo animals. That were frightening to some children and the first balloons included cartoon tune characters like Felix the cat at the conclusion of the parade. The giant balloons were released into the air in nineteen twenty eight. macy's began offering the one hundred dollar reward for any returned balloons which were fixed with the return address label in nineteen thirty one pilot. Colonel Clarence e chamberlain snagged a balloon with his airplanes wings leading to a ban on retrieval by airplanes the following year and after the nineteen thirty two parade another pilot attempted to capture a balloon in nearly crashed leading macy's to discontinue releasing the balloon loons at the parade's end in nineteen thirty four celebrities became an important element of the parade but senior actor. Eddie Cantor joining the event that year. The the Mickey Mouse Helium Balloon was also introduced that you're parade goers from nineteen forty two to nineteen forty four. The prey was cancelled because of the shortage of helium and rubber during world world. War Two those three years. The only time that the celebration has ever been called off when the prey returned nineteen forty five. It was broadcast on television for the first time time and was bigger than earlier versions. But the floats didn't achieve their current spectacle status until nineteen sixty nine when Manfred Bass began creating them best asked designed to them so that they could be flattened their trip through the Holland tunnel they were then reassembled during the predawn hours of the parade. Today macy's begins planning planning for the parade at least a year in advance and includes float and balloon creation celebrity booking volunteer coordination and training for clowns and balloon handlers. As the prayed it grows closer. The preparations get more intense in two thousand. Nineteen macy's celebrating. Its Ninety Third Parade with twenty six floats sixteen giant helium character balloons and forty heritage and novelty balloons and eleven marching bands. But let's talk about those balloons a former tootsie roll factory in Hoboken New Jersey just across the river from New York City. The balloons are created by the macy's parade studio. It all starts with a pencil sketch. Aerodynamic and engineering consultants assist calculations to make sure the balloon will fly properly exact scale replicas. One made out of clay and one painted model are fashioned before the actual balloon is cut out fabric. Each balloon. has several chambers and includes a zipper and inflation device and a high pressure valve flight. Inflation and deflation tests are run and cosmetic adjustments are made. Finally finally the balloon can appear in the parade up to a year after the process began balloons. These days are constructed of polyurethane though they used to be made of rubber since the switch from air to helium these behemoth balloons have coasted along with a big dose of help from Volunteer Balloon Wrangler. But it hasn't always been that easy to keep the balloons afloat. In nineteen fifty-eight the balloons were filled with air and hoisted by cranes onto trucks. Due to a helium shortage and poor weather conditions kept the balloon from being inflated at all in nineteen seventy one the balloons dimensions vary but most are about five six stories high and somewhere around sixty feet long and thirty feet wide. Each balloon needs around Ninety D.. Handlers in all their around two three thousand balloon handlers for the prayed these handlers must weigh at least one hundred and twenty pounds and be in good health of those only a few hundred team leaders are required to attend training though all are invited. Training includes lessons on dynamics geometry and physics then Blantyre's practice handling one of the big balloons on a field. The team leaders include an overall leader pilot captain and two drivers a police officer marches with each balloon own handlers. Hold the ropes to guide the balloon and each balloon is also tethered to two eight hundred pound. Utility vehicles instruments that measure the speed of wind. called called a Momma's I think are mounted on Poles at key points along the route and each one is monitored with a portable computer by a police officer in a New York City office of Emergency Management Representative. Well before the prayed begins objects that could obstruct balloons including arms of lamp posts traffic signal. Polls streetlights and trees are either altered or removed on the eve of the parade. The balloons and floats are brought. To New York City. Setup begins by six. AM Thanksgiving Day. The balloons and floats are ready to go. And prayed. Great participants take their places for the nine. AM prayed start. After the parade floats are mmediately disassembled. Balloons deflated. An all returned to their warehouse in hoboken again.
