"You had been. In this was pre pre. I think that we talked about you had kind of been transitioning to be more of a everyday flower. Go to studio or retail space rather than putting all your eggs in the wedding and event basket is that am I portraying that? Correct? Yeah I kind of got burnt out the wedding. Industrial Complex and had some bridezillas last year and I thought you know. People just don't get it. They're not understanding what I do what I bring. You know I bring a service, I bring my services a form of art to make their debut. But I'm not a servant young. And it has somehow through the years it had changed you know or maybe it was just my bad luck and certain clients just not appreciating. what I do, and it's not just me. I found I was talking to my girlfriend's. The. Same thing across the board like. I, know you know them understanding exactly what I was talking about by you know somebody freaking out over certain color not being the exact color that they were thinking it was or or some flour being included that they never talked about something just something petty. Just bumming me out. So I went I went more full force into the store thinking you know. Now I can really just express myself and not have to worry about. Ruining someone's big gay. Or Yours. Yeah Oh. Yeah. Well, the store the store. Is seemed like you were able to really highlight your aesthetic even in the gift and garden items that you are. You're selecting for your your merchandise I've never been in the store, but I've spent time on your website and I love your quirkiness and. You don't really want reproductions want artisan pieces you want local Items and you're kind of you know to use that tired word curated IRRIT- definitely. Choosing what you're I, what appeals to you and your I What I would like to buy and what What turns me on. So I'm my biggest customer. Pretty good for the bottom line Mirror Olivia. Now. I try to not get myself too big of a discount. So, you're telling me about your space and where it's located in how you like when did you open that space? Opened it last year in June before we were next door is just a small pop up in the front of another another person studio and then the girls who were at my space moved decided to move to Hillsboro. And I was able to take over this beautiful space about the square feet. Gorgeous. Little picture windows in front. Awning I was able to get Nicole skalski sister the artist. She goes by heart and hand creative. She did this a beautiful mural inside of monster eras and tropical plants and we did this funky. funky color scheme of a green and pink. I told her I said I have eighty s Miami vice in my mind and she totally went for it. So cool. She totally nailed it. Oh, and then you mentioning National Skalski she owns is one of the CO owners of California sister in California sister is it Is it Petaluma. What town is she in? As she's in Sebastian Oval. Yeah at the Barlow. And she's hanging in there retail. Wise. Well I met you both on the same trip and I could tell you were kindred spirits and it's cool that you're both in retail forestry and. Not Competitors you're you've figured out how to. Put your friendship I and because you're not really in the same market really are you know we're we're very different I love what Nicole does I can't deal with Nicole does. Her in Katherine, their style is Gosh I don't know how to describe it. It is it is also romantic, but it's in A. It's in a different way she's she's super local in her products in her flowers. Yeah. But I'm more quirky. I'm more funky I don't know what to say like I'm more. You know if we're talking San Francisco, she would be located on Union Square and I would be located on Haight Street. "Okay where were we let's go to west in Hillsboro West your next for senator Kevin Krim go ahead I would just say I questioned a board the the senator but first I want to thank you for all your service center to kinda thank you okay and my question is is more of an advice type of a question in regards student loans I have a son that has been pretty good student loan balance of sixty thousand dollars he's paid about seventeen thousand dollars in payments so far of which there were fourteen thousand is interested only a couple thousand in principle are there any options for my son to get out of this sword to help him out I mean I'm assuming you'll be he owns the money I'm a little bit I'm a little concerned about that high interest amount course we know that that's how they'll be out right because it be one thing if he's making some headway on its principal so you know we gonna we made an adjustment I see we the Congress made an adjustment I wanna say five years ago probably maybe four years for five years ago on the it sure does to long term you may recall we and I hate going through all this history but with the student loan program was greatly changed but bomber Kerr a lot of people may not know that other than me up for gun that when the federal government took over all of the student loan program so great and with the local bank even the bank our goal is not the government took it all right now and we've been yeah we've been adjusted a little bit of back the code in dollars a program arson consolidation programs I guess I'd be the first thing I look at but that's just me I I don't know that that's a I don't know anything legislatively or federal I would help you help eliminate some of that but let me let me take it up it back in Washington my team look into it see if there are some options and see what other things might be in the works legislatively with regard to whether there's a need some interest in some interest that we can somehow find a way we just you know we I want to be careful and restart estate the largest one be careful that we don't we don't create unintended consequences to yeah I'm just down the interest overwhelming when I got the statement at the end of the year I got to see it because I'm a cosigner yeah sure I thought that that seems you know fourteen thousand and only two thousand principal well you know if you entered above but all right now or even numbers but just seem pretty agree or button trying to find some way to help this young boy out yeah well maybe if we could take it on Scott I wouldn't mind on a direct level as a case I'd like to look into it a little bit now look for a larger a broader fixed but I do also want to be careful because you know we don't want to create your first unless I like the perverse incentives for students the world more cheap money only got one day they have to pay it back radiant in Seoul is not to mention by the way my real concern is with the university system to themselves universes system itself in that the lower cost money for a student a courageous and the ball away alright look at prices I'm sorry if it seems criminal to me it seems absolutely criminal to me are that that there not be some sort of okay here here's the amount of debt you're going to have here's what the graduates in that particular up your program you're planning to go to what makes a good expect you're going to be paying this offer what you know I mean president all my gosh where did you go to school west at some schooling in Wisconsin and some here in North Dakota in his is not but I got from was from the bank of North Dakota well I I will put you on hold and the Daniel if you would get Wes is informational pass that on so what that the center Kramer his staff can contact you to get more the information at least in those as they say you know please keep in communication with the on any possible of things happen down the road yeah if nothing else it's a test case right it's an idea what folks are right now all right so Geraldo Rivera is on fox and friends this morning and he's with Brian Kilmeade and they have this little spat and you know I'm seeing this play out pretty much along party lines where you know the democratic candidates for president in the in the in the usual suspects on the on the democratic side are saying you have bad guy bought right in there and then going to this so let's listen to the to this argument one get your take on this back and forth excellent they've been excellent the U. S. at Intel this has been excellent since two thousand and three when we invaded Iraq disrupted the entire region for no real that's not the right click yeah it is yep for a Monday start cheering this on what you have done what we have done we have on a leash I was here and we have the lady Graham the war you didn't lie and don't even say that if president trump wanted the absolutely let him kill us for another fifteen trump wanted de escalation and to bring our troops are what this was a reaction to senator John Americans their attention they not be happy you know because of him what about what about the tens of thousands of Iraqis who have died since two thousand and three you have to start seeing the water we do in a band that the for in the first place you thank all right so there's the that there is the gist of the the but the back and forth and again you're hearing some version of that now I think one important distinctions come from the secretary of defense or the secretary state I forget which on the heels of this attack is that this was about preempting attack this was about right having information about plans for another attack and what they had planned not even for a sort of you know you know what I guess correcting or or get retribution if you will for the previous attack which to me makes it harder to argue against women he took the guy out and they they we know we have plans to do this but you know he he he earlier in a piece for dismiss that saying well yeah who do we know that from and what is that same same intelligence that we had when we we said we should go into Iraq you know so anyway this is the argument going here what's your what's your response to that so I think it is a great little illustration Scott if it's the illustration of the broader argument and I think both men make a good point I it is unfortunate that Geraldo sent to bind the new ninety Graham never seen a war you didn't love or something because that's just a personal attack combine in the brain you know I think gratefully took exception to it and called him out on it but that is fine global raises well with that point although I'm not sure of that engine history gather a lot to do with it if the person from the court they listen to and I'll be honest I did watch the video of it this morning as it was going to all my old alerts and looking at the very first the reason I actually thought it was because previous to that Tulsi Gabbard was on and I want to see response as a presidential candidate but the the the whole discussion about the you know Iraq in the first place from the the flooded tell back then I get it but none the less were there we are an ally with the with the support of government and there's another part of the Iraq it is in it under the control of Iran and that's the conflict and that's not insignificant to us but although I think well if I remember right said something to the effect don't your design and branched out you're not well either double escalation we should never ever ever ever make the mistake of blaming the United States of America for a terrorist escalation of events president trump has had brands appellant corporate response to every one of Iran's bad actions the previous administration for eight years called Iran do I need to remind people I'm a senator due in no small part to my predecessors board for the Iran nuclear deal endorsing their having nuclear having a nuclear program and allowing the missiles programmer missile defense program you can train them cash on pallets so I ran is that hop order the number one date this is a supporter of terrorism in the world have escalated this thing time and time again and by the way we talk a lot garbled proportional response you're here that a lot already heard a lot so here this bully in the neighborhood called Iran by the way another thing to keep in mind is motor rants dealership is on solid footing they have a twenty of their own problems as a result of the sanctions the economic sanctions that are on a land and they have a fragile situation with a lot of freedom one of the Iranians and by the way back to the call earlier from Nick who's Kurdish and living in in Moorhead there are a lot of Iranians who live in North Korea as well of America who love freedom who love their culture but be able regime there is Calipari and so this idea that some most the United States for America's fault that this violent leadership does Byron things and we're supposed to always have a proportional response north some point you don't let a small poorly terms of the of the playground here's what here's what bugs me we've been at war with these guys for a long time what what what then and now because we respond to in this case preventing an attack somehow it's provoking what we've been on the business end of a lot of their attacks not already mom that's sort of my point is we keep fighting them to drop because we hold back and I'm not suggesting I'm not suggesting that we ordered all war with Iran but at some point they have to understand we're capable of doing that at all otherwise they're going to continue the same behavior and so in this case the boy got punched backing up once really hard and and we should apologize Fortner blame our commander in chief will be rallying around is not what I'm interested in learning a lot more we need to learn a lot more with you know you know what kind of next steps we might be thinking about what other authorization from Congress will be appropriate but they certainly didn't need the opposition Congress to do it yeah last night and had he tipped off Nancy Pelosi who I understand is whining about that you might as well send a text message right to the money himself I'm sure but I read more after this on what's on your mind go eight twenty twenty the year you see Scandinavia Scandinavia tourists coming may tenth from juvenile tours and travel the premier operator of "Traffic tip line Hillsboro, eight six six five four five ninety five ninety five the controversy up in Virginia has expanded pass. Just the governor who was seen in black face and a picture and. And there's been a kind of a debate over that as to whether or not he did and most people are calling for his resignation. But now, we've added the Lieutenant governor who has a an assault allegation against him and Bill ZIM for NBC. News Radio reporter joins us right now and Bill this one seems to be destined to go on for awhile. Yeah. I mean, this is this is a real mess that they have going on in Virginia right now the governor is under a lot of pressure to resign. He says he needs more time before he makes a decision on this. And it right now is is holding onto the office. His Lieutenant governor who would be the next in line. Should the governor resign is now defending sexual assault allegations that he assaulted a woman during the two thousand four democratic national convention, so we have a whole lot going on here. And there have been allegations, maybe not direct, but inferences by the Lieutenant governor just in Fairfax that maybe it was the governor himself who let this story out there or perhaps the mayor of Richmond who may be a future political opponent as the two may be gubernatorial candidates next time around. So there's a lot of allegations flying around here. Almost universal calls for the governor to step down from Democrats and Republicans alike on the. Statewide level and the national level. Like, I said, we got a big mess and Bill you kind of alluded to the timing of the sexual assault allegations to me, they're sketchy on assuming that's the same for other people as well. That's exactly what Justin. Fairfax is saying he was saying why why would this come up now? And he said he pointed out that this was an incident that was consensual took place during that convention. He says that the Washington Post and other news organizations actually looked into it and decided not to print a story on it that there was not enough core operation, and there was not enough there to to warrant this. So I it is a very difficult situation for everybody involved here. So the question is what happens now what happens if north them resigns? What happens if Fairfax is forced to resign? Then it goes down to the attorney general who is Mark Heron's who has already called for the governor to resign. So it really is a a weird weird situation. Then on top of this. Had that news conference at the governor had where he said now I wasn't in that picture, but I did do an impersonation of Michael Jackson one time in a dance contest where I put some few polish on my face, and almost almost was talked into doing the moonwalk on stage before his wife stopped him. I love that somebody reporter said can you still do the moonwalk or something like that? He was looking like he's going to do it. And his wife said don't you dare? You know, this thing with Justin Fairfax, this has been going on here for the metoo movement, which is you are guilty until you're proved innocent, and he is in that situation. But I'm wondering this woman again bringing this up now, and I'm wondering why was she alone in a room with him. Anyway. Yeah. I he agrees from the from what I understand he says it was a consensual. Let me no one night stand at the two had. And from what I understand she agrees that it it was it started off as consensual, but then got out of hand a little bit. Once they were in the room. So that's that's the story that we're getting so far. But the timing. I agree. The timing is rather interesting. Yeah. It'll be interesting to see how this whole thing plays out. But Bill we appreciate your joining us on AM Tampa Bay. And we'll talk to you later gay jockey, Jack Bill ZIM for our NBC News Radio reporter, I think that's part of a larger conversation, we're dealing with in the metoo movement where I we have to differentiate in my opinion between sexual assault, and when there's consensual sex and during that ramp, or whatever you wanna call it. You might not feel the most comfortable, but you're not letting that be known. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Maybe not everything goes your way, the passion kind of flames out that night doesn't nothings as you expected it to be I think that to me depending on what happened in that bedroom. It's. Different than sexual assault. Yeah. And again, it's you're guilty until proven innocent. Which is not the way all going to have to start filming everything just to prove our innocence. Eventually they're going to be cameras everywhere. Anyway, so. The rooms and all of that kind of stuff. So people will be able to. Oh, here's here's our film on that. But anyway, hey on our web page here. Natalie is put up some good stuff for some trying to get that thing come up here. Now, I wanna see this flight attendant walking on the plains wing mid air. Did she have a ticket? That's probably why she's on the way. Oh, coffee, tea or me. Well, maybe she just wanted to go out and have a smoke. Well, that's true. So she's tied down. Actually, it was her fiftieth birthday celebration. She's completely tied down. Tired? And we've got a golden retrievers stealing its owners post it notes. "Only have it. But have it at the White House with the president what special treat, but there is kind of a flip side to this. Then I'll bring up. Because we like to cover all sides on the show. The president's personally paying for it. Right. The government shutdown. Does it say something about him that when he had the opportunity to to pay for a meal for this national champion team? He kind of went cheap with. Seriously, like like, he didn't order steaks from the nicest steak restaurant in Washington DC. He got McDonald's Burger King. And Wendy's is like how can we save a couple bucks on NASA? I love it. I think it's hilarious. And I bet you those players are. I bet you they're going to dig in and tear apart that fast food now if if. The lightning win the Stanley Cup. And they're invited to the White House, which is a very real possibility do cheerleaders go with them. I hope so I don't know. So if that were the case. Would you would you want something like this to be the meal or would you want like a fancy it would be a funny story meal? It would be a funny story. But no, of course, if I'm going to the White House, I expect to be treated like a Queen. Right. Well, that is that really any different from. Right. And and if let's say you went to the White House, and they were serving up this kind of food the president personally pays for a bunch of fast food for for everyone to eat. Would you eat it? Yeah. Because your pick. I I see what you eat. Sometimes it's not McDonald's hamburgers. Every now. And then if it was fast food Barat bought four me by the president of the United States. Would you do one of the salad bowls? Yeah. All right. All right. That's good. I think I think they're going to lie. I can't wait to see the video. These guys dig in. The statement is great. He blames it on the Democrats in. For the Clemson Tigers championship team fantastic. All right. I got a couple of stories that I want to get to and and I really want to paint a bigger picture here. So there's one local story and one story connected to. What's in the news nationally? These days. And and what this is all about is that we constantly hear these solutions to problems all kinds of different problems when it comes to politics, and we get on board with them or we oppose them. But either way. A lot of times. We don't realize how complicated the solutions actually are. So this one's from the Tampa Bay times. An examination of how the guardian program is being implemented across the state was done by the Tampa Bay times in university of Florida student journalists now if you're not familiar with the guardian program, we've talked a lot about it on this show. The guardian program allows certain school district employees who are not classroom. Teachers to carry concealed weapons on campus was created last year as part of the Marjory stoneman Douglas public safety act. Some small districts struggled to recruit enough so-called school guardians to keep their school safe. Levy county launched a program only to have nobody apply for weeks. Others had trouble with the guardians. They hired in Duval county school safety. Assistant get this was arrested for pawning a service weapon issued to him by the school district. So this guy's a guardian at the school. He's issued a service weapon any pawns it off for cash. In Hillsboro, we had a school security deputy resigned after exposing students to pepper spray in manatee county. A guardian was fired from his duties an elementary school in Sarasota after the brains in herald dinner at the series of controversial posts on his Facebook page. More than a third of the twenty four districts had problems in the program's. First
