"So interesting this morning listening to Bernard McGurk and Sid Rosenberg as they wrestled with the issue that President Donald Trump wrote to the forefront last night when he was having the annual Christmas party at the White House. And he suggested highly that he would be announcing his run for re election in 2024 on the very day that President elect show. Biden is sworn into office on January 20th. On then the question Woz should the president meaning Donald Trump actually attend the inauguration. And I was struck by the fact that Bernard McGurk, who has been the most vitriolic against Joe Biden has many prime time supporter of Donald Trump through thick and thin. Actually said publicly that he felt that President Donald Trump outgoing President Donald Trump should sit through the inauguration should sit through the official passing of powers that it's been part Of our American tradition. And Sid Rosenberg who, if you remember originally was a Hillary Rodham Clinton supporter in the election 2016 and then converted to become a big time Trump supporter. He said that he didn't think that Donald Trump would show up that he would not attend the inauguration. So I won't open up Well, with that question to all of you what he is support Trump you mention mention Poco poco, your anti trump. Would be the correct thing to do, regardless of what Donald Trump decides to do in 2024 for him to be in attendance When Joe Biden is sworn in as our president, and Senator Harris is sworn in as our new vice president of the United States are numbers 1 808 for a W A B C That's 1 808 489222. And then you know, coming up. It's going to be the rapid fire edition here at W. ABC, which has become the favorite of so many of our listeners, because it gives you an opportunity within 10 to 15 seconds to be heard. Where is You may not even be heard by your husband or wife by your kids here. Grandchildren at your job wherever you hang out in the pub, the bar at the golf course Nobody listens to you. We will be listening to you intently and that'll be coming up in the second half hour. But he was Hillary Rodham Clinton, commenting on a person she knows very well. Having spent a bit of her life going at him as he was throwing everything, plus the kitchen sink at her. I've had this conversation with some of the people around Biden. We got to think differently about this, because somehow he's got to break through the noise. Because Trump's not going away. He may you know, have to finally leave the White House. But he's going to turn around the next day and say he's running for president again, and then he's going to be out there. He's gonna be having rallies because it's like life blood to him, and he's going to be probably owning, you know, some kind of a media outlet where he's gonna be peddling his stuff every day. Trump steaks. They're good steaks. Don't bash some states. Good steaks. Yeah, all the rest of it that goes with it. Having fun at Trump's expense. Uh, you know how Donald Trump has had known him. I've had a love hate relationship with him over the years. He never forgets anything that is said about him. It's sort of like a knell often never forgets Hill Park. It. Into some part of his cerebellum. Anyway, let's go to Michael's calling from Franklin, New Jersey. Welcome the WBC, Mikey. Hey, how you doing? I love you showed everything Now He's not gonna show up for what? So they compared him some more and then start more rumors than everything else. I don't think he should show up. And he should run for it. And the next 2024. But shouldn't we wait? You know, a few days before announcing it. You know it. Zero Biden Harris's Day in the sun on their inauguration. You think you should be announcing it on that day? Yeah, He shouldn't not that that day Did they give him a break? They didn't give him a break. They started the day He started coming down that elevator and they never gave up with him, and they destroyed one thing after another. Listen, our country's finished Is Biden gets in. He's gonna sell us to China. Believe me, Mike, let me look in New York. Look at New York. But he did like Mike. We will survive. Our country has survived before. With far worse presidents who were in office and I always heard the same thing. Have you been growing up? Oh, that guy Jimmy Carter about country will be destroyed, then came on Oregon. It's cyclical. Anyway, Let's go to rich. He was calling from White Plains. Welcome the WBC Rich Curtis it Curtis. Here's Here's the plain truth. The fact that you even have to pose That question has showed the normalization by Trump off abhorrent. Adolescent and irresponsible behavior. Mm. The fact that Well, you know, later on, I'm going to tell you a story about a president who decided he wasn't gonna show up at the inauguration. We all act as if Oh, my god for Putin. The union will fold our country will never be the same. Yeah, it's happened before. Nobody ever seems to remember. Let's go to Kevin, who's calling from Howard Beach? Welcome to yours. Truly. Here at WNBC, Kev. Hey, Curtis. So one question If your ex wife was court cheating on you Would you? Would you attend her new wedding? Hmm. Well, first off Kevin, having had many axes, uh, they would not invite me to any of their weddings. And guess what, Kevin, whether they had cheated on me and not cheated on me. I would not go to any of their weddings. Do I make myself clear their camp? Crystal. All right, crystal clear. All right. He got 1 808 for a W A B. C. Let's go to Giuseppe was calling from Plainview. Welcome to yours truly here, Joe. How you doing of Curtis? I do not believe the president should attend the way they treated him the last four years. Why would he? Why would he and another thing I want to mention to you, Curtis. I disagree with you. This country is borderline socialist. Now I lived in Europe. For good, good part of my childhood. We don't want that here. Joe will eventually becomes a socialist. Joe wasn't FDR didn't push us in the direction of socialism. We had four terms of FDR, right? We somehow survived that right? War, too. Yeah, I understand, But it was a pretty It was a form of socialism. Relax in. Joe Biden doesn't first of all, How do we know if he's gonna make it through four years, right? I mean, it would be 82 You think he's gonna run again? And Harris would have to.

He came with his mother and his then wife and I gave them a tour of the White House and they were a little embarrassed because I decided to react to what they said about me without being retaliatory but instead trying to be gracious and trying to demonstrate that you know there was a better way to treat people so it was quite an interesting afternoon. Wow so boy. You really went the opposite. Well I really admire my daughter on twitter because she is like never getting drawn into it. Ya beaten up about it yet. "If we keep it up and we're determined to do that is going to to save lives and improve the quality of life for many women? Do you WanNa say something about that remote. Sure I think Secretary Clinton had I. Is that you know. What do you think about cook stoves and Dull G? Oh definitely because this is what women have to deal the in and they out book you know infantries like ours. Everybody has taken that. Cooking is taken for for granted that women have to cook. So what's the big deal in it And you know we wanted to bring the clean cook stoves. We wanted to bring unclean fuel to the houses of women. But we didn't want to distribute stalls. And so you know we designed a whole program where you know. Ceiling to National Finance Corporation gave a I lost guarantee and each woman bought clean stole so today today we have apple million women using those clean cook stoves in you know lunch but it was a challenge for us because you know the husbands and the mother in law thought that you know we have been cooking for generation and so why do you need to take a loan for a Kook stow and Then then the challenge of how do you upkeep and maintain those folks still and then from bookstores. Women now started using the L. P. G. so they are moving up into the social ladder and with that then we started bring in solar power. So you have you know solar powered cook stoves so she no longer has to depend on whether the fan in the stove. Joe is working or not or whether she's still needs to cut the fuel and chop it but she just has a solar power in she plugs at dinner thin and the stove is up and running and I think we are now scaling the sub to take it to all our two million members and that brought in a whole whole aspect of. How do you bring access to energy because if you really want to improve and strengthen the livelihood energy is still so? This is such a strong nexus between women energy. Feel you know food and nutrition and you've created a nexus with the private sector because a lot of what you've been able to do has been because businesses have partnered with say W-wa maybe you could mention your your new health venture and then we can move on quickly to your friend to your right and the exciting work. She's doing Jhangvi shouldn't be keeping keeping them all holding their impatiently listening for last two hours. But I think and just a few more minutes inlets and will stop here for your who have a lovely evening meals but I think as you as you rightly brought out there the to know my second big message on behalf of our millions of sisters Secretary Clinton is that what they need is partnerships and I think the kinds kind of partnerships you partner in Rhode but you also partner in you know the difficult times or in the losses as well and that will help the enterprises grow. How do you bring access to healthcare? How do you bring the like how we brought banking at the doorstep? How do you bring access to healthcare? I get at the doorstep and that's where I think we have been very fortunate to be able to partner with Abbott and again again as I said we don't want Sherry. We didn't want anything free. But how do you create a model. That is sustainable. And that women can have access still have get at their doorstep so we have young daughters of Ghauri Benza. The daughters in law who have hand devices who had those glucose meter so go from house to house and you know they keep track of his pattern meters of our members and you know how when the Para meter is crossing danger lines. How do you take her two referrals services? And that's the kind of a model that we are creating also to take it to policy level when we talk about universal health. Care what does it actually mean for the rural end the poor women or the women in the informal the sector. And that's the kind of the partnership that we are talking about so it's a win win. You Know Fordham in Brazil. So Technology Innovation airbnb illiterate. Women what are they doing on Airbnb do you know how do you. Then we have the issue of security and mobility of young daughters young daughters in law and who have studied. But you know who are not able to find and meaningful productive work and that's where you know I stumbled across AIRBNB. My son was studying at Christie and and there was the alumni of Christie's the founder of AIRBNB and I was getting introduced an ipod. Eli on Earth do with Airbnb the and then I thought anyway. I'm meeting. I should really annoyed something in there. I Lo and behold and I approached Airbnb back home in India and I say what you list. My sister's homes on AIRBNB and like rural homes on airbnb selects. Let's see the story from my own sister today. We have two thousand homes listed on AIRBNB. I'm already been and I've been a member of saver now for twenty five years and I want to say that you'd have seen and you would have come across several companies in this world but not a company like mine with the owners and managers. Managers are are all the men like me and we control the entire supply chain right from purchase of raw material to the sale of finished broadens. The owners of our company so I think you have a flavor we invite you to visit the Indian villages listed on Airbnb. Eh If you're companies to partner with with say Wa they're wonderful partnerships that can be developed. There're you're successful ones ongoing. I don't know if you want to add anything Secretary Clinton but it's been an experience it has and I'm so happy happy that we could share the stories. You've just heard with all of you and I would only underscore what Milan said. This is a a really good investment for partnership for the kind of visible progress that can be made in people's lives women's lives and say why has been plowing met ground now for decades. But they're really at a new level level of development and it's something that Reema and the leadership of say we are really focused on. You heard her briefly mentioned the health insurance program. I am that they're going to be rolling out. We need good models today don't we. We need to demonstrate that we we can we can get things to work and we can help people and we can all be the better for it and as you just heard I mean we really are all in this together whether we want to admit it or not and if we do admit it then there's a an opportunity for everybody to partner with say Wa in some way and so I would. I would urge you to follow up directly or through Milan and I think I'm supposed to get another presentation aren't i. You're supposed to get a presentation from gory. Yes so let's see what she has for you. I'm thirty show thirty official. I'm I'm nick. I hope you you enjoy that conversation about the incredible women of Saehwa visit. Say What Dot Org. "And we talked and I asked a few questions and one of the women told me why being a member of say was so important to her because she said she had had freedom and she could be free from not only her husband but her mother in law and when we finish talking and I got up thinking that it was time to leave all the women rose and they began to sing we shall overcome it. Come in Gujarati. What I saw that day was so inspiring to me because it was the power our of hope? It was by dint of hard work. It was the support that they were giving to one another other. It was the fact. They were organized and I stayed in touch. I would see remo or others from time time to time here in this country. When I was secretary of state I went back and made it absolutely a stop on my tour because I want it to continue the work we had done to lift up the lives of women and especially the it was when I was secretary of state? One point two million members. Now it's two million in India and another million and a half and Pakistan Afghanistan Bangladesh. Other places I just can't speak enough about how this has. Truly provided economic empowerment and through economic empowerment freedom and dignity and the full fulfillment of the lives of so many women and now onto the second and even third generation Shen of the daughters and granddaughters and they want different things that they want a different kind of say well. Although forty percent of members in India are women under thirty right so there's so much to be learned from what they have accomplished. But I also think it's such a good news story that it's really important that more people hear it and I'm thrill that remote can be here to tell us first hand about the progress that say what has has made so tell us about. I'm sure there are many in the Saudi and so are not acquainted with the work of Saehwa. Tell us how how you move. Women the great majority of of them start out as waste pickers and how they come to have worked with dignity Nettie that sustainable nominee thank you so much. It's such an honor to be again. You know with you secretary. The Clinton and Milan has been a true supporter. All through this two decades. You gave such a wonderful introduction introductions. I don't need to repeat that again but I think the message that I bring today on behalf of all our two million Sisters from India is and especially from the young members of Sega who are aspiring war looking looking for more hor poor looking for a peaceful world war looking for a world in which they have work which brings them dignity which also brings them self respect and I think the biggest message which I've been telling Milan again and again is that you know poor. Do not want chatty I think all they want is an enabling environment where they can come together and listening all through this evening thing. I've heard that you know solidarity sisterhood. And I think it's the power of work which is so magical uh when women's work gets Weiss and visibility. Hambali did when they come together. As far as women and as workers workers she's able to end vents. She gets word based on the skills and the knowledge that she has it gives her tremendous confidence and then she gains gains the collective strength from the Camaraderie of other sisters that she's together with and I think it's the organizing that gives her that strength and with organizing than the members of that saver are able to tap into to get small loans which otherwise they are not readily given access stowe. She's able to build her infrastructure. She's able to gain access to head gear. She's able to build her own. Enterprise raise get access to markets in short. She's able to lift herself out of poverty and she's able to then take on any challenges that life may bring to her and I'm saying this not just on behalf of for two million sisters in India but also we have seen that in enough Ghanistan or in buck is Stan in the water. Nydia of should Lunka or in men mar or input and and I think the other message that We would like to share on behalf of our millions of sisters. Is that you know. When new put technology into their hands they know how the best application of it could be? You know how can a waste collector. Also lookin' usable. You know and SORTA Baltics is nothing bad but you know she no longer has to. You know rummaged each through the garbage but she can use a robot to do all that aura manual scavenger who has to get down into the trains in our ark countries still to you know clean those strains if she has access to robotics how she can change her life you know or a a young daughter of a farmer who feels that you know. How can she done her family to an enterprise and that's where you know how how she can use into agriculture and farming? We learned it from User Secretary Clinton when you had invited one offers small small farmers to the State Department and how she was shedding that she took out a small loan to take a says Jeff on Tobias Cell Phone and now she runs her own agribusiness company with two hundred fifty thousand small women farmers like her which has a turnover of about ten million rupees. And I think it's the same woman when she this year in our are annual general meeting. She rose up and she said seventeen years ago. I had no identity of fire on. I was confined to the four walls of my house today. I no longer feel. I'm poor. I may be trade but I'm not poor and I think this is the kind of dignity this this is the kind of respect that I think brings women out of both so. Rima raised the issue of technology which you might think doesn't go together with literate women but what they're able to do through technologies extraordinary and one of the things that you did Secretary Clinton at the State Department is you were trying to close the gender gap in mobile technology now. Why did that matter well? That's exactly right as remote said and really I was inspired by what women and say Wa were able to do if they had access to technology particularly mobile. Phones We knew that there was a gap in mobile phone ownership and usage between men and women. And we knew do that if we could help to close that gap it would provide opportunities for women to utilize technology Collagen in their businesses and in their homes and families so we did have a big initiative to try to work with other foundations and other leaders. Cherie Blair was someone working on that. Through her foundation to help lower the price increase the access provide education. Although everybody was really fast learner once they got access to it. It's a wonderful to see and we found you could deliver messages. You can deliver health messages. You can deliver messages about weather which is really important. If you're a farmer armor you could deliver messages about education. If you are worried about your children's future there was just a an unlimited number borough of uses that could be imagined and then implemented for technology and I'm thrilled that say Wa has been a real leader in this yes. There are other women's groups micro enterprise groups organized groups in other parts of the world. But say why has been a leader adaptability mention one other area that we worked on when I was in the State Department was clean. Cook Stoves on Clean Cook. Stoves was a passion of mine because respiratory distress is the fourth leading cause of death for women and children worldwide. Because if if you're cooking over a fire made with wood or Dung and you breathe the smoke and especially if you're in a small space you acquire all kinds of respiratory ailments and often and they lied to decrease lung capacity and even death so one of our initiatives in the State Department was to promote clean cook stoves and and say what was a great partner because you had to get models that would work in different climates that would work with different different villages just different groups of women who were used to spending their time hunting for firewood and would need to learn a new way of cooking but say why has been an instrumental in spreading clean cook stoves in India. which over time.

"International says he's been very explicit in saying it's America first and that's all I care about out. Syria has been an interesting case and as a former secretary. You you have the ability to speak to this. With a an indepth knowledge trump said pull the troops out because it's time time for America to leave these endless wars. Everyone spoke out against trump for doing this. But it was one of your former ambassador Ford who said at one point that the the alliance with the Kurds was never meant to be permanent. It was just meant to be a temporary coming together because both sides wanted to beat Isis and they went allies of old time. What do you think is the more correct approach them look? I don't think his real philosophy is America. I I think it's trump I and he judges everything as to how it will help him. And perhaps he impulsively decided that bringing our troops home was good for him politically and that seems seems to be how he is justifying it. But let's assume we had a president who was interested in achieving that goal in a defensible. INSUL- way here's what could have happened. He could have very well have said to the people who know something about Syria. The Kurds Turks and others and said you you know. We need to start a process in order to figure out how we can protect the Kurds who have been our allies. Maybe not for all time but they sure have been sacrificing on behalf of our objective to drive the Islamic state out of Syria. And we know they're holding tens of thousands of prisoners for us so let's not leave them to their fates. Let's figure out how we work with the Turks who are worried about their border. Let's see how we work with the Kurds. Let's use the leverage we have because we still have troops that are special forces are working alongside the Kurds. And let's figure out how we're going to make this happen instead of just waking up and walking to the South Lawn of the White House and say we're bringing all our troops home and I've talked to President Air to want and since we don't know what he says on these calls for all we know it could be. Hey President Air to one. We're going to take our troops out. What do you have on Joe Biden? Didn't we don't know. And that's what's so frightening about what's happening because he has an affinity for dictators. He's clearly misjudged adjudged. The North Koreans Kim Jong UN has been firing missiles and obviously not behaving the way that a meeting with the president should have led him to he clearly does Putin's bidding. I mean Putin could not be happier to have the Ukrainians caught up in this while he continues to eat away at their country and their sovereign t the Russians have a huge amount of influence now in the Middle East as because they're right there in Syria alongside the Iranians and propping up the Assad government. So there's a lot of moving pieces on this complex chest Ford and I've been in a White House situation room where the president was demanding information. Not Acting acting on impulse where we were running through different scenarios where we had to be constantly testing our opinions against others in order to give the president the best advice that is not happening in this White House. It is unfortunately Unpredictable about what he will do next so therefore for other countries particularly ones adversarial to us are going around the world saying you can't you can't count on America anymore. You know count on us. We'll sell you arms. Not The Americans will make deals with you. Not The Americans will have investments in your country not the Americans and it's a tragedy Ajete because I think we were really well positioned at the end of the Obama administration to keep building on our leadership. And I think that's. That's been squandered under this president. Let me ask you one question before we wrap it up the book of Gutsy Women Talk About Women who have done something amazing throughout time time. One thing that we can't deny has changed throughout time has been politics and the way we see the world. I've always been fascinated as she'll relationship you know you are. You are your mother's daughter. Yes but you're younger than her other ever political ideas or conversations. You have what you don't agree. Oh you've changed east how you see an idea because of your age difference. Yes yes absolutely. I think most notably on gay marriage and equal marriage rights which is something that we talked about extensively throughout years. And I'm really grateful and proud of my mom for or her shift to being just dogged determined not only supporter bit advocate for equal marriage or in the house. And you're like mom got gay rights going Oh income on host like a with five to be having with your mom. I'm not I want to go to a party and you're like mom get married. Cuneo Room Young Lady. That's that's under wild. I mean well. Hopefully Nacer Tone Chelsea was really one of the strong voices on behalf of gay marriage. Here in New York. She you know gave lots of speeches. She was part of a group of leader. You said were advocating for it and I really respect and and listened to her about all kinds of things and this was something that made a lot of sense sounds to me especially because she has such passionate about it. Well I'll tell you this book of Gutsy women written by two of the gutsiest. Thank you so much for being on the show.

"Hillary Rodham Clinton, remember. She persists cheaper cysts persist, we much she says democracies and total crisis total crisis. It's a new op, Ed as you know, the the literally the opinion the the editorial is written and the headline on an American democracy is in crisis. And of course, it makes me think. Well, you think that because you you're coming up with like six million reasons why it didn't work for you. You lost the election. So democracy itself must be broken democracy. Didn't work if you lose the election, if not enough people voted for you in the system that we have set up the electoral college, the democracy itself must be broken. And that's in. It's democracies fault. Democracy is in crisis. She. She starts off this piece saying that it's been two years since Trump won the electoral college. She said in her concession speech. That quote, we owe him an open mind and the chance to lead I hope that my fears for our future were overblown. They were not in the roughly twenty one months since he took the oath of office. Trump has sunk far below the already will low bar he set for himself in his ugly campaign. And then here's some examples. She she throws out. Let's go through the Mary exhibit A the unspeakable cruelty that his administration has inflicted on undocumented families at riding at the border, including separating children, some as young as eight months from their parents unspeakable cruelty says Hillary Clinton. Someone should tell her the Obama administration separated families. Yeah. But he didn't do a cruelly. It was Trump who did a cruelly eight girl. They literally were dressed in sacks. And they had little balls, and they had to say, please, sir may have small someone should tell her about the cruel conditions. Many of these children face just getting across the border. Somebody should tell her about the conditions that we're in the children who attempt to get to America through this process. Whether or not there with their parents or their parents, let them off to somebody else often face unspeakable sexual tragedy. In the process. There are a lot of problems actually with with having such a porous border, and that's the cruelty. It's not it's not having an open border wearing the president enforces the law when people get across. I mean was was the child separation uncomfortable. Definitely, but it was meant to be imparted deterrent. And it was also the product of actually prosecuted the president was dealing with what he could within the confines of the law. If you're going to prosecute one hundred percent of the people at the border by by virtue of the law and the existing court system shudder being separated that's just how it had to happen, unfortunately, but it was about enforcing the law. And then what happened after the courts intervened. Border-crossing exploded. Again, the window was opened yet again. And we saw record numbers in August record numbers. And that that the blame for that falls squarely at the feet of liberal activists on the courts, so Hillary using that as an example of democracy is in crisis that we don't allow enough lawbreaking. That's that's wonderful allegations here. Good. No, I just I there's just so much. I want to say, but I know she wrote more in this to get some more because I share it with everyone who doesn't know what Sinica short then she says that he had a monstrous neglect of Puerto Rico after hurricane Maria ravaged the island his administration, barely responded, some three thousand Americans died. No, Trump flatly denies those deaths. Those deaths were caused by the storm. All right. Well, let's unpack this one. Hurricane maria. Happens FEMA aggressively responding to hurricane Maria and its impacts on not just Puerto Rico. But elsewhere Puerto Rico took took the brunt of it over many months because of a combination of corruption in a tragic infrastructure on the island, and the basically what we saw over. The course of the past week is P three thousand American deaths being blamed on Donald Trump. Donald trump. It's almost like like the governor of Puerto Rico in like the mayor of San Juan getting away with making. It seem like it's somebody else's fault. That the island is in shambles. And and this has been aided and abetted by an activist press who likes treating the president this way. So so when Hillary rights stuff like this, Mary, she has a receptive audience. Of course, the American press corps who thinks this is. All right. I think that democracy is in chaos because somebody they don't like as president of the United States and the song is getting old every time. There's some kind of natural disaster, especially a major hurricane a democrat. President literally walks on water and single handedly rescues puppies kittens, small children and the elderly by himself on walks on the water. And does it all carries them on his back out? But it went a Republican does it. He's in there holding people's heads underwater. One other thing that she doesn't this column? She attacks the use of secret money. Dark money and politics. She has an entire resistance group called onward together, and it operates only money. Whatever come on at least that part of. It's funny. All right. The rules. Don't matter. She's grumpy, and there's a willing press corps lapping it up six twenty.

"The man who's been recognized as radio's best the recipient of not one but two Christie just Marconi awards for his broadcast excellence, the one and only Bill. Oh. Bill Cunningham, the great American some twenty years ago or so Ken Starr launched an investigation under congressional attorney general approval now resulted in the impeachment of William Jefferson Clinton, the trial, of course, was held in the United States Senate. I think the vote was fifty to fifty you need to thirds through actually convicted removed from office. But the star report was the basis of the impeachment proceedings against William Jefferson Clinton. The book is out twenty years later, I love to have them on the air twenty years ago, but that would have been impossible author of contempt Renoir of the Clinton investigation and Ken Starr, welcome to the Bill Cunningham show. Thank you. Good to be talking to you Bill. Let's talk about I wish I wish I could have in twenty years ago. But twenty years later is good. Before they get into the book talk to me about Brad Kavanagh who's up on the cusp of getting your the supreme court where you should have been instead of David suitor. But that's a different matter. Brad Cavanaugh said in hundred ninety nine quote, this is Brad Kavanagh. Speaking, quote, Ken, Starr is. In fact, a hero doing the right thing. Doing the hard thing doing it very well enduring the attacks he taught us in our office what it means to be the man in the arena. What are your memories when you work with Brad Kavanagh awesome twenty years ago? Oh, all good. And by the way, I hope that same business ended the way breath getting confirmed. Great Justice on the supreme court. My memories are and I lay some of the satellite book, thanks for featuring the book today wanted to tell that story, and that story is breath Cavanaugh I recruited into my law firm and in the process of recruiting. I was successful. He said, okay, I'll sign up. So our law firm in Washington won the Brad Kavanagh derby was coming off the Justice Kennedy clerkship at that time. But then I found myself appointed as independent counsel and right away. I didn't ask for that job. I was asked to take it on. And so I sit down with Brett over lunch and say Brown, I really I should say now jobs cow. But I said brat, I really need your help. So he came on board. And then he did MAC deficit worth just terrific. On a very sensitive part of our work. The Vince Foster investigation, I'll just say Bill he was just superb from day one. I mean, he's an Olympic ten and he's also just a really good guy. And it's a nation. Saw. We now have a second coach K staining because the girls girls basketball team, you know, calling coach K Cavanaugh, so he's just a really brilliant. But well grounded per se takes his faith is deeply tabs open. People got a sense of and that that was very reassuring to people that we've got a great character and quality as well as all those qualities we want Justice. And of course, I've been a lawyer I've been an assistant attorney general my wife's the senior judge of the high court of appeal. So I'm familiar with you going back twenty five or thirty years and for those who simply don't understand you were nominated. It and confirmed as United States circuit court judge in the second circuit, which next to the supreme court's to high circuit you serve there. As a judge with distinction. You then became the US solicitor general, which is representing United States of America before the US supreme court. Then you made the mistake in my view of becoming a special counsel independent counsel in the Clinton investigation because it took away your ability to be on the United States Supreme court, which should have happened like nine hundred ninety one one Bush forty one made the mistake of putting your day with suitor that should have been you. And then you want this other course, if you had to do it all over again, Ken Starr, would you have taken that appointment to do the Clinton investigations. Yes. I would because I love my country, and if your call to serve your country, but I think you salutes smartly, and you and you go aboard the voyage is going to be a pretty unclogged one. You'll get sick at sea. But I'll get rid of that that metaphor just say, yes, I think those of us and hopefully everybody loves their country. If in this case was the panel of judges acting on the request of attorney general Reno said, we want a pipe you poor. You know, I wasn't gonna go run away from it. So I always remember Jona doesn't want to go to Denver. While this was certainly not a divine. Call and I don't mean to suggest that, but it was a call from three judges to take this not so great assignment. And I said, okay, I'll do it. And I didn't run away from it. Let's get into the facts on your book contempt Vince Foster. Some of my friends point out today that it wasn't suicide. It was murdered that the blood ran up hill, and you exhaustively investigated the death of Vince Foster foster who was an attorney a close friend of the Clintons you and Brad Kavanagh. He was part of that part of the investigation. Do you firmly believe now that Vince Foster's death was a suicide and why one hundred percent certain there's not even a doubt much less. A reasonable doubt. All the conspiracy theories have been proven to be just that they're conspiracy theories with absolutely no facts, no facts to support the theory. So let's just take the example. You use the no the blood. There was blood. Was the body bag adds a Fairfax Kelly Moore filled with blood so his body was not moved every aspect of the so-called conspiracy theories of the time which then had. Well, here's this. There's that we looked at every this every that we got some of the nation's leading experts on forensics and the like, but I also had the benefit of this. And I respected this confidence. I down with Lisa foster the widow and with her family lawyer with her, and it was just as we of us and she shared on. And I had to agree to this or she wouldn't have shared. It was made. And so what she shared, and I said this we started in the report I say that the book that what she said was. Directly to Hillary Rodham Clinton, not as a murderer. Just. Serve willful blindness of the White House spin machine was very effective. And so that characterization too cold in the public imagination. But you're absolutely right. It was all about rule of law about perjury about obstruction of Justice. Here's the way, I came about we begin with Vince Foster who was his executive assistant who was the last person who we knew our investigation who saw Vince Foster live London truck, and Monica Lewinsky, and Linda Tripp end up working together and the Pentagon and the public affairs office Monica at the time she's transferred out, thanks to Hillary. To the Pentagon the Hillary wanted her out of the White House. So all she goes to the Pentagon the relationship with the president did continue. It was more difficult, obviously because he was at the White House. He's continued to come into the White House, but at any so she had the relationship with the president and she confided in Linda Tripp about that relationship then in the fullness of time when the Pollock orbin Jones and litigation is underway. That has been authorized by the supreme court of the United States that rejected Bill Clinton's suggestion which was extravagant that he gets a time out. He gets a pass someone Susan for sexual harassment. Let them wait until his presidency is over the supreme court ruled nine to nothing. No, you're not above the law. So we move into the discovery phase you, and I know that has but for a non lawyer, folks the fact finding that precedes the try. And so in the fact, finding process Monica Lewinsky files, Bill, I heard your perjury filled affidavit denying any relationship relevant to the sexual harassment case with the what's the president. She having filed that APPA David then is encouraging Linda Tripp to file a similar affidavit that would lie li- li- light lie under oath. I mean, we doing affidavits it's under penalty of perjury, and Linda Tripp then calls our office and says, hey, and she tells what's happening. And she says, you know, me, I'm Linda Tripp, Vince. Foster's executive assistant yesteryear. We take that information. Bill nearly three was this narrative, we take that information. We have the additional information that we. We got at the Ritz Carlton, we take that information to the attorney general of the United States. Janet Reno appointed by Bill Clinton. She says she evaluates it heard visors work with her. We don't know what they said what we know is what they did. She decided to go to the special division pointed me to expand. My investigation to include now, whether Monica Lewinsky and others committed perjury, obstruction of Justice and other crimes. So it all don't blame under Trump a. Lane Janet, Reno generated could have said I'm killing this right now. And if she had killed right, then it would have been over. I'm blame Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton is the fifty two year old president having sex in the twenty one year old intern repeatedly, I blame him. But then the perjury took place step back because your book, the contempt talks in a sense about Bill Clinton and more favorable terms than Hillary Clinton. But you find them both fundamentally dishonest because lies re perpetrated when if Hillary Clinton had won the presidency. Let's face it, Ken Starr, she received the third highest popular vote in American history, and she could easily have won the presidency. How would you feel about that because you voted for Donald Trump, and you feel good about that? Because he appoints bread Kavanagh and other conservative justices. But what would have happened your life? If Hillary Clinton had gotten control the United States government. I joked that well, she's the commander. She would be a bad. They commander in chief. So I might have to move to Australia, but she would not be ordering someone directly or indirectly to to take me out. I mean, I don't know about that. I don't know about that one. All right. Well, well, well, we'll leave that one aside. I would just not want the country to have the policies, including the judges. So Hillary Clinton would appoint they agenda would be carrying on. So I will be political. It's a stage. I am a Republican. I'm proud to be a Republican land of Lincoln kind of person. So to speak though, from Texas. So I would be very sorrowful for who would have filled the seat on the supreme court of the United States. That's the key moment right there. The last two months. Yeah. So the election of Donald Trump help preserve a constitutional. A traditional court doesn't just make up rules of the constitution or hers them in his dissent and the same sex marriage case. Justice Antonin Scalia in one of his last writings on the policy issue. I it I don't have strong feelings about the whole issue of same sex marriage. You know, different people everybody. That's what he said. He said, but I care deeply about who decides that question should not be guided by five lawyers on the supreme court. Now, lastly, Ken Starr, you've had some comments about the behavior of our current president forty five Donald J Trump and his comments about Jeff Sessions which undermines the rule of law. Gimme opined for a moment or two about this president's behavior. Trump a chore? Jeff sessions. Well, happily the president's behavior, which I have seriously and strongly criticized doesn't cross the line into criminality. And that's the key distinction. But I wish he would stop it. I think he's hurting himself. I think he's hurting the country. I may agree with eighty percent of his policies. Maybe eighty five percent of his policies. I've agreed with every one of his appointments to the to the federal bench every single one as a strong opponent of appointment, but he's killing himself politically with this small-minded Ness, a criticizing John McCain all the peace with if you're not serving my interest. Then you're not on my team. And that's something attorney general is supposed to be the attorney general is supposed to stand for the rule of law. No, fear. No favor, and our president just doesn't get that. So I hope and pray that there will be. Some road to Damascus experience that says to him because I know people do say to him don't do this. It's on you are elected to be the president to faithfully enforce the law. Please be true to that sacred obligation, thus far just is crazy spent on so many policies. I don't agree with the one that really does. But overwhelmingly he has done and look at the economy and all that I'm not going to do what he's. He's doing very good work. He just needs to change his tune. That's it name of the book is contempt. A memoir of the Clinton investigation. Ken Starr, and his Brett Cavanaugh said about nineteen years ago about you doing the right thing doing the hard thing doing it. Very well. And during the attacks Ken Starr, Todd us in our office. What it means to be the man in the arena you've been there for about thirty to forty years and Ken Starr, may you live long and prosper. Well, thank you Bill. God bless you. And keep up the great work. God bless America. Ken starr? Thank you very much on..
