Big Blue Big Board: Top 10 Positional Preview Part 1 - Offense
"Uh-huh. Welcome to the big big word Bod cast. I am Dan position. Join to your back. Chris flung, Chris how you doing today doom pretty good. We're in the homestretch. We are draft week. It is happening this week in in a few days distressed needs to have happened like two weeks ago. But it's close it's close we're getting close. So we are in final preparations for this rat. And today we are going to be running down our positional top ten's, a Chris and I both listed out our top ten at each position. You're going to go over them talk to each other about some of the differences in our top tens, and then this is going to help us to put together a combined big board. We're going to put out on big blue view little later in the week before the draft. So all of this is coming down to our. Our final preparations, and we could not be more excited for this draft to get here. So all we're going to do here is rundown are positional top tens. I we're going to start on offense. And there's one place where we can start their position we've talked about quite a bit. So after we run through our top ten's. Maybe we don't need to talk about it quite as much as we have in the past. But let's just start with quarterback all run down. My top ten verse. So QB one obviously clearly collar Murray and go Dwayne Haskins will Greer drew lock. Then I go Ryan Finley Akiba five Brit Rippin cube six Daniel Jones key, seven Jordan, Tian new acuity, eight garner Minhsiu QB nine and Caja Castillo at QB ten Chris. Let's dig into your top ten. Okay. So obviously, I have my tie. Top four are the same as yours. Kyla Murray win Haskins will Greer Andrew lock. I think those four are basically head shoulders above everybody else. I start to diverge from you get to QB five mine is jerked stem out of Auburn than I have Ripken. Ryan Finley Daniel Jones, Ed, Jordan, Jammu and Tyree. Jackson Durant out my top ten. One of the interesting is big differences. We had is you have Jared stood him as QB five. I do not have him in my top ten to one of my problems with him. He was just too inaccurate. For me to really like. I think that's a problem with basically any quarterback after like QB four here. And drew lock. I think is teetering on even that. But it has deep ball ability that I think that makes him the clear QB four. What does the price is after all of this talk that we've had I am technically higher than you on Daniel Jones. He was my seven is your QB eight obviously, the NFL is going to be way higher on him. Then either one of us are we both see him as kind of a mid round developmental prospect. The NFL is going to see him as a potential starter in the first round. But I think it's kind of Ogle. After all of this item out just a Ted higher on Daniel Jones than you do. Yeah. Well as people who've read my work for a while. No. When I pick a hill. I pick it hill, dammit. And right now, I have Daniel Jones as a fourth round quarterback on my board as far as I'm concerned, or at least my read on him is that his stealing is basically a backup quarterback a guy who. You will probably be great in the quarterback room great locker room and with his athletic traits could probably come in. If you're starter gets hurt or if you're blowing team out and either be at best a human cigar as you take victory lap or maybe run around and help you scrape out a win. But that's about all I see from him. If I was GM, I would probably have Jarret stidham behind. Brit Rabin and Ryan Finley in the third round. However, I do believe he will probably get overdrafted based on just his physical traits. Str- has a strong arm. He can run, and I think scouts will be able to hang their hats on that while coaches can look at him in college say, wow, that Auburn offense gave him just no opportunity for. For growth, I can work with that. Yes. They don't be interesting because you do hear about the Auburn scheme allot, and he here that also Daniel Jones thing where you hear about his supporting cast. But I think two things can be true. I think the Auburn offense could have been bad stood him was also bad the same thing for Daniel Jones. His supporting cast could be terrible. And it was, but he was also bad in addition to that. So when I looked at the on target percentages per sports info solutions for all of these quarterbacks student came out as the worst among the fourteen quarterbacks. I looked at an accuracy from one to ten yards. He was pretty good in eleven to twenty. And then was also terrible. Twenty one yards and deeper. Dana Jones is interesting, and we're probably going to have to talk about him later in the week because he might be giant the so we don't need to get too far into him. But a lot of what you hear about him is how good he can be in India. Sure. Short quick dam, which is fine. And that's true. He was a really pretty highly inaccuracy there put he was one of the worst inaccuracy from eleven to twenty yards that intermediate range, and he was also bad in accuracy. Twenty one yards down the field where further and you hear a lot about how so much of the NFL is in that short area. In like, seventy percent of throws happen within ten yards of blonde scrimmage, and that is true. But so much of the value happens past ten yards past the line of scrimmage to. Well, the most of the volume happens in the short game the value really happens past that. So you need to be good in both places. So with Jones, I just don't see the upside. And that's why I still think of him as like this mid around developmental prospect that I don't think has the upside of potential starter. And I think that's kind of where we are. That's where we'd been on Jones for quite a while. That's still. Through all of this evaluation. I think the more I've dug into the more I feel about that. So that's where we are here. Let's dive into running back real quick, which since this is a giants focused podcast. We don't have to spend too much time on because it is the draft. And we need to get a sense of all of these players in their values. But we'll go over our top tens and really not talk about running backs much at all. Although it could be interesting because looking at our tens they do differ a little bit. But I'll go through my tangible quick Daryl Henderson running back at of Memphis as my running back one. I think that is very different to of a lot of running backboards, but I like him a lot. He has good vision. Good burst. Can catch the ball. Also, which is good, and trivial Williams is number two. Just Jacobs is running back three Justice hill. Oklahoma state is four mile Sanders at Penn State is five. Benny Snell out of Kentucky is six single Terry. Of a U is seven divine zig. Bow out of Nebraska is eight the miles Gaskin for Washington is nine and James Williams at a Washington state for me is running back ten. I actually can't argue with having Darrell Henderson high on your word. I believe I have him as my RB four. My top five are Josh Jacobs out of Alabama mile Sanders at Penn State, Devon single -tary out of FAU. Daryl Henderson and then Justice hill at of Oklahoma state. Like, you said this is giants focused five guest. We are trying to do these this big board from the giants point of view. So if the giants drifting away running back it should be late in the draft. And most of these top guys shouldn't be in consideration. I actually my two favorite running backs in this class are single Terry. Daryl Henderson, just because they both are just absolute pinballs. Both of them are almost impossible to bring down they squirt through holes. They shouldn't be able to get through. They bounce off tacklers left right and center, and they're just a lot of fun to watch. I have mile Sanders injustice hill up pretty high. Because I believe they both have just the physical traits to be. Good productive pretty much every down runners in the NFL. This is not an ethnic running back class. But those two are probably the two best athletes in the class. Then my bottom five or Damian Harris from Alabama David Montgomery, who I could I wouldn't hate higher because his contact balance is just off the charts. Rodney Anderson Avoca Homa leisha Holyfield out of Georgia. And then finally finally Benny Snell out of Kentucky, I mostly just focused on guys who if they're not going to be well rounded running backs at least give you one thing and with Montgomery deaths contact balance with Holyfield in Snell. That's just their ability to punch at defense. They are very violent runners. So that's pretty much where I am with my running back board. Yeah. That makes sense. I think I focused more on contributions in the past game which few have heard talk about offense at all. Should not surprise you. I think the interesting year is of our ten I think we have for each that are not on each other's boards. My running back to Trayvon Williams is not in your top ten. So I think that's just kind of interesting to go forward. But again running back not really position of interest for the giants, which is what most of you are listening for. So what's move to a position debt might be of some interest that is wide receiver. So I'll run down my top ten Akeem Butler is wide receiver one decay Metcalf at two JJ are Sega Whiteside from Stanford at three Emmanuel hall from zuri at four marquees Brown from Oklahoma five AJ Brown from old miss at six. Andy is a Bill of UMass at seven Nikki. He'll Harry from Arizona state at eight Terry MC Warren from Ohio State at nine and Gary Jennings from West Virginia at ten Chris. Why let's let's dig into us. Yeah. My top five decay Metcalf at one and kill Harry to AJ Brown. Three JJ or Siga Whiteside or and Hakeem Butler five I mostly have keen Butler down that are because of just the consistency of his hands. Which is also a problem with UK Metcalf. But he is just he is just a rare athlete and those guys get drafted highly kill, Harry, he is interesting to me because his yards after catch ability just seems to come out of nowhere. You know, he's very strong. He has great balance and greet vision. So I could see offense especially in offense. Like the giants drafting him and then trying to get creative with him in the short intermediate. Yuck. Game eighty Brown. He is just a good all around receiver to me, and we both like JJ Ortega Whiteside. Yeah. I'm happy. Rebirth. Have him in in the top top four technically glad neither one of us are overthinking decay Metcalf. He is a physical freak. I don't really care about his three Cohen, and whether he can bend or not he can win where it matters that is downfield on he can moss moss TV's, he's going to be an explosive downfield receiver, and then you can work off that you can have the comeback. You can have the curls. Those are fine. He doesn't need to be running intricate routes if he's gigantic and running a four three. Obviously he can develop that and that can come. But if it doesn't he still going to be a very useful wide receiver. And there's the players who were like that. Like he had a better three Coen than Steve Smith Carolina, Steve Smith, not New York Giants Steve Smith. But I think we think it was seeing Smith as as a pretty all around decorative wide receiver. No one thought he can't bend in run. Of course, he's is more compacted ground than than decay. Bet Kathy's decay Metcalf is going to be very good. I also I don't really worry about his hands or his drops. I think if he's targeted enough the big plays of going to come. I think the same thing about Hickey Butler. I believe the same thing about Emmanuel hall. That's why I'm so high on him and not a bunch of other people or he does have some drop issues. But I think he wins so easily down the field, and you could also win in the short intermediate areas. I think he brings enough value. He's number one in this class in target yards. Added which of course, is how much overseer adds to an offense compared to win a quarterback throws to anyone else on the offense almost seven and a half yards difference between win Missouri through to Emmanuel hall per target. And when they threw to everyone else that is insane. So just because of that production. He he's up there for me just moving onto my my second five I have deebo Samuel from South Carolina Kelvin Harmon from NC state marquees Brown from Oklahoma, India's Abella from UMass and Paris Campbell from Ohio State DO Samuel. I've been pretty consistently high on him throughout the process. I just love his ability to win every level of the field, and you wouldn't expect from a receiver his height, but he dominates in the red zone. He has that ability to just separate at will and win at the catch point. And. Then almost like Victor Cruz when he catches the ball. Then the play starts Kelvin Harmon. I just love again, his body control strong hands and ability to win at the catch. When he almost reminds me of a slower new cop-killer with just the way he is able to the ball out of the air and make circus catches murky. Brown would absolutely be higher for me. If it weren't for the list Frank injury. I just wanna see how how well he recovers from that because his quickness explosion and speed are everything for his game. If he's able to get right and be the player we have seen. He shoots up boards, and he's going to steal if somebody gets him, even I think maybe even in the middle of the second round, Andy Isabela, he's another guy. I think we are both high on. It's just you can't say he's a slot Justice lot receiver just. Session receiver because he is legit track star. He can burn you down the field. Yeah. He won a lot on the outside and you mass. And I think a lot of people see his size and think that he is a slot. But the these not I think I don't wanna say he is Brandin cooks. But in the way that Brandin cooks is not a slot receiver and Isabela is not just a slot receiver. No and just because he's a white receiver. You can't go around just comparing him to add Ataman or kkob or what pretty much most of knowing the New England Patriots slot receivers over the last ten years. He is really dynamic athlete, and he will probably wind up surprising people. Once he gets onto the field in the NFL and Paris Campbell. To me is just another one of these dynamic athletes who can really win after the catch. Sought all the time at Ohio State. Get him the ball with a little bit of space, and he is going to break angles and pick up chunk yardage so Perez Campbell is interesting to me because he will you said he's good after the catch. He's exclusively after the catch. His never death of target was a think four point five is what sports Pollution's had him. So he was getting the ball within five yards of the line of scrimmage almost all the time and had to run he wasn't as to run deep. The very often the percentage of his route that went further than fifteen yards down. The field was thirty two point three percent. Which was the lowest Inish draft glass. A that is kind of insane. So one of the reasons that don't have him in my top ten is because he's so much of a projection to a to the NFL and running actual routes when we talk about someone like decay Metcalf. You can't run routes. He wins down the feel of Peres Campbell wasn't really. We asked to at all. That's why I have Terry. Mclaren ahead of him the other Ohio State wide receiver who didn't get nearly the amount of talk during the season. He has a widow bit. Now, the in the in the project process, he had a great senior bowl showing. And he's he's gotten some hype afterward, but he was much more of the downfield receiver and just for me. And I think looking at the giants offense unless they are going to completely yards after the catch this thing they do need someone who's going to be able to get down the field. Which is why I have the chlorine ahead of Campbell Campbell is just such a projection of what is going to be able to translate from what he was asked to do in college the NFL. Yeah. And I absolutely get that. But I'm also not convinced. The giants aren't going to try to completely act this offense. Yeah. It's totally possible everybody. So let's move on to tight end a run through by top ten here. TJ Hopkinton, easy, number one. Noah fan also of Iowa tied into herb Smith from Alabama number three of Caleb Wilson from UCLA as tight end four Jay stern burger from Texas. Am is my tight end five triggered west go. From West Virginia is my number six cadence. Smith from Stanford is my number seven foster Moreau from LSU is my number eight Josh Oliver from San Jose State is my number nine and drew sample for Washington is my tight end ten a Chris. Let's get to yours. Okay. Top three are identical again TJ Hodkinson one no offense to I actually I have them pretty close together. And I think it will just come down to who's picking when Hodgkinson's. Size and blocking abilities, set Tim apart. And he is a more. He at least he was a more effective receiver at Iowa. But I think there will be teams that could view no fantasy a better receiving option. But just moving on herb Smith number three that I have Jay stern burger for Trayvon west. Go five Josh Oliver six Dawson knocks at seven foster Moreau at eight Dax Raymond at nine and Isaac NADA at Georgia at ten. So I think the biggest differences between our two wards happen at the bottom five, and I'd say in particular, I've got knocks Moreau and Raymond at seven eight nine I have them there because I think all three of them are fairly similar prospects in that they're they tested out as very athletic for the position. But they're also fairly underdeveloped. It Dawson not is basically. Giant lump of clay at the tight end position. There is a great tight end in there somewhere. It will be up to the team that drafts him to basically mold him into that. But he has all the tools. He's already good blocker good enough. And he has experienced lining up all over the offense of formation. Ole miss used him out at wide receiver. They used him at slot. They use them in line at tight end. They used him out of the backfield is h back. So he's got that experience. He was just a complete afterthought for them yet the where we differ here. And I think the the biggest difference is I have Caleb Wilson as my tight end for you. Do not have them in your top Ted. I think I'd just like his a super good athlete, and he was a very effective at pass catcher. And I liked that projection going forward can get SIS no receiver whether wide receiver tight end had more targets on deep crossing routes than Caleb Wilson date at UCLA last year. He had nine targets which led all all MTA receivers at eight catchable targets, Abe, receptions, one hundred eighty six yards and a touchdown. So when you have someone like that who can win down the field in that area. He's someone I am going to be very high on. And then I think when we get down to the bottom. It's just a little bit of a difference. I think I like cadence myth as possible all around type of guy, and I think drew sample is kind of the same guys who can be blockers can also win too. I think we just have a little bit of a difference on who we value in those areas. But I think we're basically looking at the same things. Yeah. I think so I don't think it's impossible that the giants draft tight end early. But if they don't if they don't want to really move on from red Ellison. I think you maybe one of those fourth round draft picks get a guy who can either push Scott Simonsen or ultimately take over for Ellison in a year or so. Yeah, I think a lot of people have seen my Democtrats that had the giants teach at Hopkinton six that's not necessarily something. I would say they should do. But it was more of just thinking a little outside the box of what they can do. And throwing. From twelve personnel is good. Which is when two tight ends on our on the field because defenses act like that is a run formation. They keep world linebackers on the field. When you have two tight ends who can catch which the giants would have in Haagensen and Ingram, or if you don't have to go to that extreme say a Caleb Wilson and Ingram that you have to tight ends. You can catch you're getting mismatches and throwing from twelve personnel is basically like using play action because the defense ready expects the run. And that's when passing is the best is when the defense thinks you are going to run. So I would not be opposed to drafting a tight end somewhere in those mid rowan's and beefing up the ability to pass out of twelve personnel. So let's on here and go to authentic attack all run down by ten underdo it at Washington state, my authentic tackle one Juwan Taylor from Florida is tackle to Jona Williams from. Obama is tackled. Three Dalton Risne r- at of Kansas state is tackle four Cody Ford from Oklahoma is five of mcgarry from Washington is tackle six next Scharping from northern Illinois is tackle seven for me. Yanni juiced from West Virginia is tackle eight. Greg little from ole miss is tackle nine and Bobby Eddin's is tackled. Ten four me. And Chris what is your Ted? Okay. So I have join Williams from Alabama one. John Taylor, Florida to under a Dillard from Washington state three Cody Ford from Oklahoma four Dalton reisner K state at five David Edwards from Wisconsin at six Yanni could use from West Virginia seven Michael Dider from Wisconsin at eight kill mcgarry from Washington at nine and Ali auto from. Ilan at ten. Our top three are the same. Really? We just have Williams in Dillard flipped. I went with Williams. Just because he is just a technician. And I think he could be he could just have a little bit smoother transition to the NFL not coming from that Mike Leach offense where it was just quick sets rarely asked to do anything. Like, a kick slide never had his hand in the ground that sort of thing Dillard will probably be a better pass protector, especially once he gets used to playing in. NFL scheme, but just for now Williams feels a little bit safer, and, you know, also, obviously important John Williams has longer arms. Yes. That is one thing. I'm not worried about the r-maine with with Joan Williams. I that is something people have talked about of why he should be moved to guard. And I get I. Man, three eight seven inch. It's insane. I get liking Jody Williams technique. I think one thing with Dillard and being at Washington state is to how often he did pass. Protect and he was so good pass protecting and a lot of those were some short throws on. But per sports solutions a blown block rate on passes of zero point four four percent. Which is the best of this offense of lime class. He was also a great athlete the testing of incredible at the combine number one in this class of ninety six point nine percent. So basically, the ninety seventh percentile of athleticism among authentic tackles per spark. So when you take at lettuces helmet you reps. He got in the past game. I am confident. He's going to be able to figure out the other nuances of a little more complex pass blocking and run blocking which was still good. At just didn't do it as often because Washington state passed a whole bunch. But if you are good it my philosophy. If you are really good moving backwards and setting yourself up in pass blocking your go into figure out run blocking more easily than I think if it were the other way around so that is one reason I like dealer a lot as my ofensive tackle one. But like we said we we have our top three are the same players. We just have them have one in three switch. But I don't think we're too big of a difference where we think it's crazy that one has one over the other where it is interesting is when we get to our back half we have three players each who aren't on each other's boards. But what is interesting is as we moved to guard in a little bit too of the guys who are on your board who I do not have in my tan, I do have in my top ten as guards. So we'll get to that. I think one person I do want to talk about a little bit is next Scharping out of north. Illinois. He's pretty good mid round guy that I think could be value in could be a pretty good starter in the mock draft. I put on bigly view dot com. I think I took him in the fourth round. And I think that's a potential starter. He was at least a little above average of among this class impasse balking. He was a one of the best run blockers in this class. So when you put that together, he has a decent athleticism using full profile from the combine. But everything he did test in was above average. So I kind of like how projects and I think the one good thing for the giants wasn't great last year. But it's been good going forward is they were so bad at right tackle like so bad between the failed. Eric fouls experiment, and it's been so we need to remember the giants thought Eric flowers was going to be passable enough. Right. Tackle at the beginning of the season that didn't last very long. And then Chad we were. Came in. And mean, he's on drafted guy. So he shouldn't have been expected to produce at a high level. But the giants didn't really have any other options. So they were so bad at that position. All they have to do is be even below average. It will be an upgrade. But if they shoot for just an average right tackle that'll be a massive upgrade at that position. Oh, definitely not to relitigate the whole Eric flowers thing. He's not a giant anymore. I think you could argue they never even gave that experiment a chance to get off the ground. They benched him after the second game. So two games is not enough time for someone to switch from left tackle the right? Tackle it just isn't. But anyway, moving on you mentioned the guys that we've you their position differently. I think the biggest one is Michael Dider out of Wisconsin. I actually view him as a five to a player. I think he could probably play and have started up side at pretty much anywhere on the offense of line. I think he could play tackle. I I think you could play guard. I think he could probably play at center. So I just list him at tackle. Because that is where the value is the highest. I actually think Cody Ford could probably play both guard and tackle at a high enough level to draft him either in the first round of very early in the second. So. So those guys I I have I actually have them at both places on my board the other guy, you don't have is David Edwards who I have just liked for awhile. He's he still figuring out the offensive tackle position. He still kind of owning his body after coming to Wisconsin as a quarterback turned tight end. So he's had to add a lot of weight, and he's just very still new to the position. So I think his era was pointed up. Yeah. That makes sense. I just I tap into like, you know, guys like like Scharping end less two guys. Greg little by the Evans, I do like them at a little bit. I mean little is someone who has been a puzzle. We talked about as a first round guy. Obviously do not like him there as my tackle nine the. But I think he does have a little bit. And he has does have the technique the lettuce not crazy about. But if. I would have as a down in tackled nine. So let's move on to a guard where I do have two of the guys you talked about so rundown by top ten here. Chris Lynch from Boston College is is number one Garrett bradberry. The center from North Carolina State is my interior offensive line two and will know this interior offensive line. So guards and centers are here. Eric McCoy from Texas AM is a center of is my interiors three than Elton Jagan from Mississippi State is four. There's Michael dealer is my interior five of Nate Davis from Charlotte is my interior six that Michael Jordan from Ohio State is number seven boat bench oil from a Wisconsin is number eight Connor McGovern from Penn State is number nine. And then this is where I have all Yudo. He was your tackle ten. He is my guard ten. From ilan. Okay. And so for mind, again, our top three are basically the same. I have geared bradberry center from NC state than Chris Lidstrom guard from Boston College Eric McCoy the center from Texas am now where we differ. I have Druce Amiya who is not on your board the guard from Oklahoma than Elton Jenkins center from Mississippi State. Ben powers guard from Oklahoma Khanna McGovern from Penn State. Bo bench hall from Wisconsin. Ross Pierce Bacher who is non you're board. He is the guard from Alabama. I have Phil Haines the guard from Wake Forest, so yeah, our our top three is basically the same. I have bradberry a little bit higher because I think Senator is just a little bit more valuable than guard. Although I also do believe Lynch from could. Probably play center and do a good job at it. Eric McCoy, he's the guy we both like I think he's a good well rounded center, you can do pretty much everything you want. I do like gruesome Lia, he's very experienced. He's started. I think just about every game for four seasons at Oklahoma. He moves well, he really explodes off the ball. He can go backwards and pass protection. You can set a pocket. He just does it all than Jenkins again. He's a good center. He's more power based than I McCoy bradberry. Ben powers, again, a really experienced guard. I don't think he quite has the athleticism that a lot of the other guys do but. He's strong and he's stabby without how he uses what he has. We both have McGovern eventual. Pierce bacher? I like him for the same reason. I liked powers and Phil Haines guy. I have been high on for. I think a while. Now, I probably wouldn't take him before the third day in the draft. But he if he's there in the fourth round out have hard time, not taking them and that's with Kevin Zeitler on the roster. Hanes just moves people. And he he moves really well for a big guard as well. So he just strikes me as. And under the radar pick that could wind up being a good starter. Yeah. It makes sense. The giants. Let's it's center. Probably not going to look at these guys early which kind of pains me 'cause hike crystal Instrum, a loyal. Yes. He is very good zero percent bone block rate against the past last year. Sports info solutions, he was also one of the most athletic authentic alignment at the combine and ninety six percent tile per spark. So the way he moves the way he can block very good. So he's clearly my interior one. Yeah. And then as you move down. There's there's some guys I I do like what you said Dida has the ability to play everywhere. And I think someone who will say if there's someone who can handle tackle to what him try at tackle first before you move him to guard. But I do just like some tackle prospects better at tackle. Which is why I have deeter. Here's also why have Yudo here was a good tackle. At EON, but then has been playing more tackle he was asked to move at the shrine game. And he did said he did like it or go bit nasty got used to it. So that's why I have him there. I think he probably projects Oto better there, which is why I have them and. Yeah. And then we I think we agree on a couple of other people. I think may Davis is someone I like from Charlotte the fairly athletic zero point five two percent boombox against the pass, which which was pretty good six three three seventeen. So also pretty good against the run. So he's a smaller school guys who I think can have a pretty good impact on the interior Hindi NFL someone who can probably be a decent decent get in the middle rounds. So since we rent a little while we're going to split this into two episodes and get into what we do for the defensive side of the ball. AP Laboratory - Weekly Chiefs Mailbag (Ep. 183)
"What's up everybody thanks for joining us today money wanted. AP Laboratory it's the mail bag addition. On Game Week Your Kansas City chiefs. Kick the season off. For All of the National Football League. All right. You earn when you are the world champions which your Kansas City chiefs are, and they look to extend their fifty one seven run. On the Houston Texans, we got plenty to talk about that. We gotta talk about the roster. We're GONNA answer all your questions. It's the mailbag episode. Let's do this. I am beyond excited. Mightier pals are with me, I find him on twitter at chief and Carolina. Lane. What's up. A little shook it. This new intro we got going on here. I I wasn't ready for the Kent Swanson a new baseball cap coming in with a brand new intro never heard before completely it. I was caught a little offguard for this and so I'm still trying to get my bearings back under me but I'm doing well, we had our first full like quarter full week of college football. This past week of not none of the big power five schools. But there was some fun football the watch in here in a couple of days, the footballs, the NFL football starts our beloved reigning world champions play this Thursday night. It is time we're almost this is the last mailbag edition that is coming without. A game, preceding it or coming up in the following week like this is the way to go but I have real breaking news. The renaissance man just made best meal. He has ever made this evening crag buddy barley hop on twitter. Please tell us what kind of fantastic meal you made in win is the special airing on that flex its Cubans and it's always Cubans. That's that's when I make all the thing that I make I will I will eat everyone's Cuban sandwiches and I will make them relentlessly i. Had you had. What is that? Is it just catch up on two pieces of Brit, anyway. Subway it's the subway Cuban a grilled ham. You guys know how much I brag. Anybody who little his podcast knows how much I brag that's the best thing I've ever made ever was tonight I was in a coma and can't snapped me out of that with that amazing intro I'm ready to go no humility whatsoever from a Craig Stout when it comes to was cooking, we've learned and I don't blame them. All right five star reviews. If you like what we're doing on the Arrowhead Pride podcast channel, all the work that we're doing all the free content we're giving you leave a five star view. If you ask a question on your five, Star Review will answer it. So, this is first question. First off love the POD. AP, lab helps me get through the work week. Love the vibe in all the hard work y'all put into make it informative. Thank you very much. Mike Question Clyde is clearly the number one back, but do you think he'll consistently be the third down back or will he split Reps with Daryl the barrel? Because of his unrefined pass blocking that is from cross break IOS seven. I'm still so disappointed this nickname, his stuff. Really, stuck with really stuck. Or your? Nickname. And it sticks I don't know why but. The issue is I think Clyde isn't a bad pass protector and he's a fantastic receiver. If you WANNA, make him the full-time third down back I have absolutely zero qualms with that. He might even be the best at it however. I think they're Williams has the trust of the offense of Eric, b enemy Andy Reid, patching homes I. DO think they trust him to get his assignments right more often than not I think they trust him going out on routes so I would not be surprised to see him get roughly half or maybe even a little bit of the most of the split of third down running back duties. I think more opportunities to catch passes whether you undo targets or routes ruined but their Williams being the primary third down back would not surprise me. It's about a trusting. It's less about your ability to be received richest or you trusted not to get Patrick mahomes killed a into B quality receiving option if need be and I think Daryl Williams checks, those boxes already it's proven hopefully Clyde takes that role. But at the same time, if you want Clyde Edwards layer to be your main back on first and second down, then you might need to give him a breather occasionally on third down and if you have a guy like Darrell, that can step in and do that. That's just the bonus. It's going to be Clyde because he told you already knows the playbook. It was the easiest thing in the world to him. He just walks in and does Andy, Reed's playbook I do think it's going to be Clyde. I just think that they're going to weaponize him and I think that they're going to be able to get the absolute most out of him. Yes. The past blocking does need a little bit of work but I think we saw you know Kareem hunts rookie. Year Andy Reid was not afraid to still try him out there even though his pass blocking needed to develop a little bit more I, think Clyde Edwards Hilar-. Is a better player in a lot of the same spots that Kareem Hunt was used in Andy's euro in his rookie year with Andy. So I just think that they're going to lean on him a little bit more but yes I would not be surprised to see Darryl the barrel rotate in plenty along with Clyde. Yeah I do think they're going to try to spell him a little bit on third downs because they are going to utilize the first round pick let Edwards first and second down But. He's still going to get some run there too. I don't have any doubt in my mind. I cannot wait to see what this offense looks like. What kind of wrinkles they have, how they utilize Clyde Edwards Layer the angle routes that you're gonNA. See. Zach Cunningham just got paid a lot of money and there's a chance that he can just Clyde take half of it from Amman. On Thursday. AP nerd squad at G. Dot. com if you don't have a twitter and you don't ask if you haven't left a five star view or you don't WanNa leave a five star review or you already have, you can email us at p nerd squad at gmail.com and Derek asks if Craig created a football video game, what would it be titled and why would it be better than the game that shall not be named thanks for all the hard work fellows. I mean. It would be ESPN, two K twenty one, we resurrect to K. Franchise because it was way better than madden and they kind of got the shaft there. But if I was making something for myself, it would be something along the lines of like tecmo superbowl love old school video games. First of all Madden was the best football game pro football game around people have nostalgia for. Two K series in NFL Day in which it was like myself crazy trying to go out there and play quarterback. You couldn't complete a pass me to yards to save your life in those games. Madden had the best series until all competition fell off and invade just proceed to put out the exact same game every single year for a decade. But if Craig were to be in charge which I mean I all we all know he should be, they would be virtual reality video game you would slap on even headset. A pair of glasses that you put on the ship to you like in mission impossible they don't self destruct you put those on you go through all the motions of playing whatever position you want with other average joes. The World Craig just put on glasses for those that are catching me giggle right now he's shown us the prototype now, but it would just be twenty two couch potatoes, armchair quarterbacks with these virtual reality goggles on just playing football in their living rooms crushing into their dogs stepping on their children it would essentially be like an arena football game virtual reality. No the game would clearly be called Patrick Lavar football twenty, twenty one because he's starting his own franchise because he owns everything else in this world. So, Craig would be designing Patrick Mahomes football twenty, twenty one. And it would be hottest selling game of all time and the chiefs win the super bowl every year not because. Of Craig's designed just because that's how good they are in real life twitter questions. So cal eleven eighty, six biggest surprise of cut down day. Brillon. Speaks or Jodi Fortson. It speaks speaks was the second round pick jody Fortson was utsa a guy at a very strong position. I mean this isn't even you know team fit sort of situation. It's a bigger surprise because one of these guys was a guy that they traded up for that. They felt the need to go up and get in the early day two of the two, thousand, eighteen draft and jody just frankly was fa that was a practice squad guys. Just from a pure investment that they've put into the player itself having to walk away from a second round draft pick looks a lot worse for GM than walking away from ud fa I mean had to do it. Breath Bread Beach Really Kinda spoke. Very truthfully about Berlin speaks today. I mean, he said it's up that from the podium Gillis into on the Arrowhead Pride podcast channel but he was not holding back about Berlin speaks not being ready being behind the eight ball being overweight last year just kind of unloaded everything for the reason why they cutting. Me It's Freeman speaks at it's not even close of Jodi. Fortson does not have the profile of NFL football player. You don't you just cannot run a four, eight four or even if he wants to play faster at a four seven, you can't play wide receiver in the NFL with that lack of speed. Fortune hasn't been particularly close to making on the field and. NFL game like it Britain's speaks has been rostered. He's been on the field. He's played actual reps as jody is just right there with other undrafted free agents like dare Williams the offensive Lineman Lavar Hill I mean any other undrafted free agent Roger Clemens that you WanNa put in there for a guy that just quite simply may not be good enough to make an. NFL team. He's just a guy that's really impressive a- camp because it's a little bit more structured of scenario and he's allowed to shine and these contested catch situations which fantastic at it's just a matter of translating that onto the field. There's just not much to go on there for fortson whereas speaks has definitely been a disappointment and I don't think the chiefs are. Hiding from that, but he's at least big good enough to make a roster to be put on the field to see if he's going to accelerate not he has a physical profile that works on some level. I'm just not sure for its has that and I don't think it should have been expected that he was going to make the roster any point in time. Yes, sweep it. This is not to Duncan Jodi Fortson here There's there's a lot of love for him and I get it because it's it's a fun thing to see a guy winning the catch point but structurally like just a couple of things with Jodi fortson within an offense. How does he operate? What is he providing? He's he's a back shoulder fade guy like he's a big body catch point guy that's not really operating within the structure of the offense s not how the chiefs operate. And special teams to like I. Don't know how he's GonNa fit in there like I. I don't think any of us were really expecting Jodi forced to make the football. Team Fun Stories Really Fun Story Brig speaks with shocking. Ryan Scott Hall our dear pal the Oh gee. From the HP Casey podcast. What are we eating on Thursday boys? This is GonNa probably disappoint some people or maybe it will come as no surprise for me. I'm not sure but I don't have rituals or plan out meals for chiefs games. oftentimes, don't even eat during them. I pay attention to the game way too much. I stand up and pace around my living room or watch the game standing if I'm at home. So I the meals aren't that big meals like about Thursday will most likely be very normal breakfast dinner for me, and then the chiefs game starts I, mean maybe all have wings that night just because I enjoy wings, it's football food but dowd be about as far as I would have for kind of like a preplanned meal based around football. It's going to be cold and rainy, and I already know that we're making eight. Tuscan soup with. With a nice crusty bread and lots of Kale, it's going to be really delicious. I know that's not a football food just really looking forward to it because it finally getting cold is starting to feel like fall. I think I might have to get some peanut wings. I think that might be the move that might be a good way to his season just didn't join some delicious wings from the peanut. Some Cheese Fries Brandon Ford twenty two Darwin Thompson won the running back three role this year what's his role this year? Best case scenario for him and we'll the addition of Clyde help or hurt him. I don't think it necessarily helps him You know if it was a veteran back that it kinda come in had a little bit of NFL savvy to Kinda help coach Darwin up a little bit that might help. But I don't know that he's really going to be able to lean on Clyde too terribly much. While mean we'll see we'll see how that works but I do think that he's going to be a key special teamer. I think we're going to see him get some of these short yardage lots like he did a little. Bit last year and I think we'll just kinda see him rotated in a little bit here and there if Darrow gets banged up if Clyde gets banged up obviously then all of a sudden Darwin just becomes very important as a handcuff of these three. That's part of the reason why we've always talked about how Andy Reid likes to carry four guys get hurt a lot. They like having the depth Darwin's I think just going to be relegated to special teams role but ready to step in as soon as one of those guys goes down. Yeah I think Darwin's main job is going to be as a special teams player and then he'll be a spell running back. If quieter to dare whims gets banged up or they have a series, they see a lot of work maybe the next series Dr. Thompson takes the running back to just for that specific series to let a guy, you know workout workout a cramp or just something along those lines i. don't think he's GonNa have a big role in the offense until you get later in the year if there's a little bit of an injury or wear and tear to one of those top two guys. I do think the introduction of Clyde into this offense is GonNa hurt his chances a little bit when i Charles Darwin Thompsons runs down the stretch last year, he got the vast majority or the vast majority of his carries were either inside zone or do power runs, and he was the guy that was getting most of those runs definitely wasn't Damian Williams Shawn McCoy earlier in the year had. A little bit more inside zones, but he was still getting just as much work on the outside. If the chiefs do transition like most of the NFL has to primarily inside zone or duo runs that is something that Darwin Thompson look the best that last year, rather not outside zone, and now you have to runners ahead of them that probably operate with a little bit better patients and division. Wall scheme changes that sue him better I think the guys in front of him are now going to be better than he is on those runs that just might hurt some chances he would have had if you compared to last year. Believe in the Super Bowl last year the chiefs only. Two running backs on the active roster. The Shawn McCoy did not play. I believe just I think it was just Damien Williams and Darwin Thompson I think Darwin Thompson will be third active running back this year. Week one, he's going to be a heavy. Heavily utilized special teamer and I think you'll get a carrier to hear there but he's not going to get of opportunities this season. But he stuck around and if someone gets hurt, they have a guy that they have confidence in that apparently had a good can't. Seemed like Brett visas pretty happy with him. So that's a good thing. They've got some death they're Andrew Nagel to. What teams from each conference do you see as the biggest threat to beat the chiefs when they go back to the AFC championship game and Super Bowl now that we know the rosters? So for me, it's Baltimore in the saints and the saints are loading up. They're all in for this year obviously, they tried to get Judean clowney failed, but they they've got us. They stood a very good roster. I, expect them to make it out of the NFC and I think Baltimore is your biggest challenge right now and I don't think it's particularly close. The ESI. Those are the two that I probably would have gone with as well. So I'll go deep here and not try and take one of the obvious ones I. Think the titans have a good defense a very, very scary defense that if they put it, all together could be a threat now obviously Ryan. Tannehill does not scare me at all but the defense is pretty good and then the Minnesota Vikings on the AFC side curry since listen you`re not, Kirk cousins are many. Active philosophy that kirk cousins without their though baby. That's I think that's fake. Listen. Milton Body. Good. That's what happens there. I love what the Vikings have done on defense how to deep they are basically, they've got superstars all over that defense. I really really liked that defense I know that losing Stefan digs is a huge blow but I like Justin. Jefferson a lot too. I think the vikings could do some damage. I think for me the most obvious NFC teams going to be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers I. Think it's one of the few teams in the NFL. GonNa be able to go toe to toe with the chiefs on offense assuming Tom Brady isn't what you saw last year and that really was because. He had zero around him anywhere that all those offense skill positions are probably second in the NFL to the chiefs I mean, that's a good group of Tom Brady's what he was even two three years ago Bruce Arians head coaches. Phenomenal. They have a lot of fun players on every level of their defense like there's a lot of talent on that team. It's religious about what Tom, Brady you're GonNa get in the AFC I think the. Ravens are the most obvious answer but the buffalo bills to me I think they scare me almost as much as the Ravens eight Josh Allen continue to take these half steps forward and they are half steps for don't say full stats Maddie admitted Mattie just admitted that Josh Allen, got banner I heard it Oh. Yeah. For sure it's just a hostile Ford until he throws a fifty yard Hail Mary to fullback game for overtime but wait. If he takes another half step forward and then you give them Stefan digs and you have that defense like there's a lot of firepower. There is long as Josh Allen could just not shoot that team in the foot they're going to be in contention of almost everyday play. He's they have enough firepower that if Josh Allen can get hot at some point in. Time, they are just as much of a threat is any other team of the AFC so I think the bills in the bucks would be two of my top three teams could stop achieves from winning back-to-back superbowls. Josh Allen taking a half step is literally all he needs to be able to throw it sixty yards over his receivers head. That's all it takes. Maybe, if he would there to receiver not a fullback, it would only be forty yards over their head. This is this hurts because I'm quietly rooting very hard for Josh Allen. Steph all digs. Ricardo is he got away from Kurt cousins. I would love to know how fast kirk cousins through on that passed to the wide open running back against the chiefs what was the velocity on that one? Ricardo Istanbul asks does Ricky Seals Jones have a chance of being active on Thursday and playing a role in the offense this season as the third tight end The Cheese Titan Room right now is a little confusing to me I. DO think we're going to get news about your elder coming up whether it is I are thing now I guess the rules this year a bit different it's only if you are a player, it might only three weeks. So if that's the case, I wouldn't be surprised he yelled hit the IRA because he hasn't been really to practice much all at camp which would leave Ricky Seals Jones is your third tight end and I think the chiefs are set on keeping at least three M it right now they have four but I think they want at least three tight ends on the roster so I do think there. Is a good chance. He's active. I'd say higher chance for him that he elder at this point in time however a playing a role in the offense. That's a little bit more debatable to me. He looked like the least athletic of the three four if you include, Daniel Helm at tight ends that we got to see in the one live practice I don't think he brings much as a blocker. So I think his biggest role would be if Travis Kelsey gets injured and they need somebody else plane space a little bit more often if they need someone to replicate the why Eyeso- looks or when he split out, I don't love the idea I think that's really where his role in the offense. I don't expect much thirteen personnel out of the cheese We know that they use twelve personnel. Of A lot respectively, not not necessarily a high percentage there but a lot compared to what the league does. I just don't see. Ricky. Seals Jones lining up in the same ways that we're expecting. You know Nick Kaiser in line as a blocker or travis, Kelsey. In the slot doing that sort of thing. So I think that recusals Jones will be active but another one of the situations like Darwin Thompson where he's going to be on special teams I, think that he moves well enough you know you put him on a coverage team he moves well enough in a straight line that you can get him downfield have him cover ponds have him cover kicks I think you can be an impact special teamer. I saw I those effort was inconsistent when he was on special teams. I. Watch them last year when I was replaced breaking that stuff down. So it's GonNa be interesting We're GONNA find out pretty quick. This week, it'd be very curious to see what kind of wrinkles what kind of guys are involved and he's one of the guys definitely keep an eye on as far as WHO's being utilized wear how that kind of stuff ricky cels, Jones one of those guys we're going to find out if he's just death player if they have a plan for him. It's going to be interesting. We're going to take a break and we'll be back with more your questions right after this. All right and Russell Two thousand eighteen asks vh said the D. Line was the deepest area of the team could the cheese feasibly have a top five defensive front this year Is. Going to hurt me to say but no no, I just don't think that that's the case I do think the defensive line is very good. I think it's very deep I think that Tahoe's ready to grow into that role we love Derek Naughty Chris Jones is a phenomenal three tech Frank Clark is a stud defensive end that works that four down works really well, it's when you take a step back to the second level that everything just slows way down and I Mean that as the speed of the linebackers because Willie Gay is not playing right now. So I, just think that they really need a couple more bodies of second level that they're comfortable with before we can start talking about them having a top five defensive front. They just don't have enough studs at that second level to be able to say, Hey, these guys are going to be able to line up and stop absolutely anybody with their front seven I just don't see that happening. I. Wonder if in Russell's referencing just the defensive line and not the whole front when he said that just based on using the beach code, I don't know for sure I would agree if you're talking about the defensive front with the linebackers included no, no shot that second level is just I mean even if you include Willie Gate just lacking the combination of experience and playmaking at that level at the NFL level but just offensive line I think there's a chance Frank Clark Chris Jones, you have your two studs up there. Guys that can make big impact plays the Frank Clark's also really good against the run I think Derek. Under appreciated players in the NFL for what he can do against the run, the big jumps into town Paseo IRA wrote about him needing to take a big jump this year like the chiefs are expecting him and they're putting in a position to take a step forward. He did last year when I went back and watched though they're still some not even just inconsistency he's just not as dynamic as he needs to be if the chiefs have top five defensive line in the NFL, he needs to be a little bit more dynamic. He needs to consistently be bad offensive tackles faster. He can beat them. He just has to beat them a little bit faster and a little bit quicker on a consistent level. That's his next step. If he gets to that point where he's beating the Garrett Bowles of the world and he's doing it in two to three seconds, vineyards get to the point what this team could have top five defensive line in the NFL because you have that guy across. From Clark, you have good defensive end you have some useful defensive tackles and Mike Panella Colin Saunders I. Think I think it's there. You just really need Paseo to go from. Quality Constant Salad plays to mixing it a lot more big impact plays for the team. Yeah, I think if you're raking defensive lines based on their top two guys cheese. Way Up there. Top five with their top topsy. But I do think that there's a there's a fall off there. There's a lot. There's not a bona fide third guy on that front. On on on the defensive line and there's quality deaths but I don't think there's like. Just. Top in skills or guys that you really expecting a lot of production out of. The niners like they have a very clear bona fide third guy and Giovan kin law and I mean they've got some dudes. So guys like that Baltimore Titans. Packers the packers have a top A. Top, three. Like their top three rivals, the chiefs top two. Very, obviously in the chiefs top-three obviously Derek Deland. Asks who do you think's bags has starting at outside corner opposite various ward on Thursday night and who do you want to start in that position Hashtag vh does not believe in corners. Fantastic Hashtag because it is true that is why they are going to play safety convert Jerry sneed on the outside this Thursday because he did not play cornerback his final season in college I expect Jerry to get the majority of the reps and outside corner. He might not play one of the game I don't know I expect them to. But I'd say it's a forty percent chance that he doesn't just with the NFL NFL experience maybe the day of they're not feeling super confident but I think he's going to get the majority of the snaps by the end of the game that's who I wanNA see out there at this. Point in time you gotta throw them in there and you gotta sink or swim they don't have another option. There's not anybody else that I feel good about playing outside it seems like Rashawn has relegated to an outside inside Combo depth were player rather than starter just seems like that's the reps he's getting in practice. That's the way Sam Madison kind of talked about him. So snead is your future started on the outside. If he puts it, all together might as will start with Monday day one because I don't think he's going to learn a whole lot from watching anybody else on the team go out there and play right now. Yeah the chiefs depth chart that they released the unofficial depth chart that they released had Rashad Fenton as the opposite corner from various ward. But if the practice that we saw any indication which a lot of the moves that they made do line up with what we saw that practice, it wasn't like you know everything that we were seeing was completely hidden by Andy. They actually lined up with a lot of moves, a lot of the depth that they. Had in their shot fit was not that guy starting outside it was jerry need. So I do expect that that's going to be the case and who do I want to start in that position Jeffrey Okuda that's who I want to start in that position because that would mean that the chiefs invested highly in a cornerback and some teams stupidly passed on him for long enough for the chiefs to get him what Brett vs trade up to get him. because. They they. Did it from thirty two. Here. I. I think. I think it's GonNa be Rishaad and I want it to be legitimate need. I was I I haven't listened to all of the press conference but I was encouraged to read a couple of quotes Brett put out about the corners I. Think they like their young corners based on what Brett had to say and they I think they're willing to throw him to the fire a little bit i. hope we see legit. I hope he starts. I still think they might just roll with Rashad fitness. Start. Ad Job. I. Hope I said that right Fans Writers Always Stumble over themselves to project that the chiefs with a deep running back group and I running back a first round running back will sign veteran running backs like four net peterson but nobody says a word about guys like Sidney Jones or barely mention Prince amukamara. I think the big reason is the chiefs always keep for running backs. They have for the past three seasons and the rationale from Andy. Reid was the running back. Position gets beat up a TUMP throughout the season. That year that we started keeping for running backs, Andy specifically said, we were thin at the position. We had to kind of scramble to find guys. We didn't want to do that anymore, and then they've Syn synced kept for guys like Andy's come out and told us that he wants extra bodies in the running back room because injuries do happen there lot. So it just makes a lot of sense whereas the cornerback room. Bringing a cornerback right now where you getting rid of are you getting rid? Of Bopha, keys are getting rid of a Tonio Hamilton Jason somebody has to go to bring in an extra corner right now that's the only reason I think it's the obvious move is to look at a running back because that's what the chiefs have told you in the past. Chief England fifty five asks which out of Conference Team are you most excited to watch the season? I have no shame ass- I think Tom Brady is the best quarterback to ever play the game at this point in time Patrick Mahomes. May Pass Him. He's more talented. He's had better highs already in his young career Tom Brady. Did it for such a long time? I love watching Tom Brady play football you're going to put him in there with Chris Katelyn and Mike Evans two of my favorite wide receivers in. The NFL if I get a healthy rob Gronkowski back I watch Donna can sue I mean it's a fun team to watch. So I'm excited to see what they do I'm excited to watch Bruce Arians get a quarterback. They can operate in a high level again in James slinging the ball around like we can't pretend that Tampa was fun to watch last year. If the quarterback legates better, I'm excited to watch him. Okay I know Ken got two and one of them is mine I'm GonNa leave him the other one. I'm GonNa take the cardinals I think it'll be fun. I think they'll be really fun cuyler thrown to de'andre Hopkins Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirksey sounds like a lot of fun. Kenyan drake in that Backfield as well with vintage Benjamin sounds like a lot of fun and then I am. I'm very, very curious to see how Isaiah Simmons a safety translates to. The will linebacker role there in. Arizona. They're I think they're going to get creative to use him right and I think they can they. They've used guys like that. Well, in the past Buddha Bakers there you know Patrick Peterson still there Chandler Jones is amazing. So they've got a lot of fun pieces on that Defense as well but I do think that they gave cuyler plenty of help on offense and I'm just really curious to see how that looks way Craig you said I had to, yeah who did you think my other one is the bills that's the that's the same conference though. It does say conference I thought he meant division. The bills are are my guilty pleasure. The Arizona Cardinals are guilty pleasure I do have another. NC Team Oh. that. I am kind of interested Vikings of course. I'm fascinated to see what happens with Dan Jones, and Joe Judge in the New York giants this year. I'm very fascinated by that. I'm Giddy to watch the cardinals like absolutely I cannot wait to watch. This is a player you know pass out on the field and have to go to the hospital under Joe Judges Tutelage there see what are they going to be doing All these jokes off but it feels like things have really calmed down and I don't think the players are as beat up about it as people think because there was like I I just watching some things and observing things recently I don't know we're gonNA find out I I'm super fascinated to see what Jason Garrett Clapper does call him plays for Dan Jones. It's GonNa be fascinating to watch. Joe. Judge is going to be doing Oklahoma drills the in pre-game that's. Yeah I just WANNA. Let another I've canceled every Arizona cardinals game from my television for cutting Akeem the dream butler. The fact that they would betray me like that they despite the fact that Kyla Murray would be the second quarterback I would take if I- redrafting quarterbacks right now have to Patrick Mahomes. I will no longer watch a single cardinals game. I'm going to transition ready to this question real quick because you just gave me a perfect opportunity cedric. Twenty four let me know you guys think of her key Butler does he have a potential to fill the spot win or if Sammy leaves next year or are we concerned? He can't make the roster Arizona I feel like a guy that size with his speed could. Be Andy, Reid weapon I think that Eighteen Butler has all physical traits. Yes. Physical profile to be good player in the NFL. Clearly, he was a very raw prospect coming out I think plenty of people myself included baby underestimated the rawness and I know a lot of people out there didn't thank you could separate and thought he had bad hands. Those things may be relatively. True but I got to the NFL. You taught him how to run routes better than they did Iowa state despite the fact that he was still really good there. He'd be a good weapon I would love the chiefs to bring him in at this point in time you could probably put him on your practice squads doesn't seem like any teams are chomping at the bit. Form if you can put him on a practice squad, get him some work down there. Maybe you have something in the future, it's a low risk high reward play, but I'd love to see Hickey Butler on this team guys that size don't run four nine which is good enough to play in the NFL he brings that contested casualty but also the ability to get deep It's crazy to me that he could only last year with those physical traits when you have other guys that surviving multiple years in the league that can't do either of those things. D Johnston Twenty nine biggest new impact player on offense or defense besides cluttered layer or bill gay boy I'm glad I get to go first on this because there's not any guys. Collect Assembly on offense I think, as long as he's healthy, he's going to be a stud. So I think that he's going to help improve. On the interior of the offensive line, he's going to open holes for Clyde a lot better. He's going to make things more comfortable on Eric Fisher who hasn't necessarily had a solid presence at left guard in ever I mean a long long long time. So I mean, I think that that's going to make a big difference for Fisher as well. Not Worrying about getting beep back inside knowing that. He's got smart help there I just think that that's going to help him. It's going to help writer that I think just by adding him you're just going to strengthen a couple more spots. So I think he's a big impact guy defensively I'm GonNa go with TACO. Charlton. As like Creek said, there's not a ton of option sitting around year for this question given the way cheese played the off. Season but I think Taco Charleston's GonNa get plenty of chances to at least work himself for the rotation I. Don't know where he's going to start in the rotation I don't know if he's the third guy up fourth fifth guy, it's not going to be active I. Don't know yet but I think at some point time during the season, he's going to be able to get on the field and. I like his physical traits quite a bit. Yeah. He asked refined some things he has to keep working and getting better. That's why he was a free agent and he's now on his third team but there's a lot of physical traits there. He's motivated and ready to go I think he could definitely come out have a really good impact. It's similar to Emmanuel Agua did last year for the chiefs. So I think it speaks to the roster itself that. There's not a ton of guys like you know like you guys are saying Antonio Hamilton's one that makes a lot of sense to me personally just because there's a lot of versatility to is game and he's going to be lies Lana airs. Played outside corner, he's played a little bit of safety played in the slot. He's done a lot of different things there. But his special teams value to he is a highly revered special teams player. Dave Tobe is geeked out to have him in the mix. And You know I think you know he's a guy that that potentially could make an impact, but there's just not a ton of guys. This is this is the right back tour this. Lead the running back to her I actually said Antonio Hamilton on another podcast you guys can look for later but oh I I'd spoke very highly of Antonio Hamilton I think that the staff really likes him in that slot safety rule I it may just be the dime role that he gets, which would be about thirty percents of the snaps but I think between the thirty percent of the snaps their and the special teams contributions that he's going to make Antonio. Hamilton. Might be a sneaky big impact player for this defense. Right be. Jones KC. Asks, which players are in the most danger of being cut when Bush shot or when yeah. When shod brilliant and Mike Panel Return Mattie I think when you have the start get four tightens on the roster. So in less that get out beforehand, I think Ricky Seals Jones assuming the elders healthy by then has got to be one of the first guys looking to go and then Sean Warton's a great story and it sounds like he's been very impressive I don't see the Chiefs keeping five defensive tackles along with six defensive ends. I think weren't of the guys that they have right now is probably the lowest totem pole. You slide him on your practice squad if he doesn't flash too much protect SEAN would be kind the second guy. Yeah. I think those are the two obvious ones maybe a year Durant although I don't know that the chiefs want to cut into their tackle depth like I think he's got the ability play outside so I don't know that that would necessarily be it but maybe one of the offensive lineman. If they can find a guy or you know we're comfortable with who they have, but it's basically Warton and one of the titans I wouldn't be surprised. Jake Thompson saw his way out here relatively soon to that she's played with four safeties. The last season in once want hills in good shape I could see Thompson Armani wants out the door that comes down to special teams obviously drew Cobb. Asked. What is the problem with ha ha Dick's worth the trouble or what about taking a swing on Sidney Jones? We had a lot of Sidney Jones questions. This week we did we did Sidney Jones is fine Sidney Jones would probably be an upgrade to maybe the bottom of the chiefs cornerback grouping there. But like ninety said earlier, it means that you have to get rid of Bo Peak Keys Rashad Fenton who they currently have projected as a starter or Julius need and they don't want to get rid of those guys. Those are they're young cost control guys. Yes. I get the run it back aspect of. It, but they've got the shot Berlin coming like that's right around the corner here. So I think that's a situation where they're going to just kind right out the first four weeks of the season from a cornerback perspective whether we like it or not. But I don't think that they're going to add a guy there and then ha ha Clinton dix man I I don't know you know he's he's one of those safeties that seems to be bouncing around to different team recently he has decent seasons and then nobody wants to sign him again it was the Trae Boston affect there for a little while they just. trae Boston was always available late in the year and nobody seemed to know why it's gotta be something attitude something getting along with teams work effort you know whatever the case may be. There's gotta be something there. That's just preventing him from landing a consistent job. ENC Pairs asks them curious why it's chat henny over Matt Moore what's the differentiator? Well? Back in two thousand, nineteen chiefs were making a decision on who they wanted to try to make the backup quarterback for Patrick Mahomes, and it was to the guys under consideration were chat anymore they rolled without any the first time second time around they gave chatting two year deal. I think the chiefs value the continuity that Chad. Any in. Patrick. Mahomes have because you know Chattanooga was around for a lot longer. He was there through camp. He was there in two thousand, nineteen years there for through camp. In two thousand eighteen as well So you know he's been there. He's established i. think that's really just what it is. Is that level of familiarity Matt Moore came in and it was great in a spot. As. A spot starter in. you know he's really good in that role he's very capable. He's comfortable. You know just jumping in there and doing it so I think you gotta continue to roll with that. I do think one of the things that always comes to mind when I hear people discussing Matt Moore Versus Chedda Henny I remember in the playoffs Matt. Moore. Sitting on the bench there and Patrick mahomes having to kind of come over and pick him up a little bit like now get your head up. No, don't act like. That get your head up. got. We gotta get out there. We gotta do business a little bit. I. Don't think that Chad henny maybe has that same sort of mentality and not that's not to say that Matt Moore's week or anything like that. But I do think that that mental fortitude that may be Patrick. Mahomes. Has Chad any has as well and that kind of translates and it makes us stronger qb room because you know him he's just basically there to bounce ideas off because homes goes down WELP. Rocky said forever ask what does Tana passenger you have to do? This year to get a second contract. Generally speaking what I look at like development for edge rusher especially town who didn't come in is a guy ready to play in the NFL like the first thing you want to see is them get adjusted to the NFL speed size physicality that next you want to see them start not to be absolutely terrible like you just want to be able to go out there and not lose every. Single rat poorly, then you get to the point to where there's consistently being okay and APPs debate not winning a bunch but they're also not losing their doing their job. They're following their assignment technically sound things like that, and that's kind of where we got with Tahoe. He doesn't have a lot of bad plays. He just isn't flashing a ton of impact plays this point time a lot of his. Big plays are later in the rap a lot of his big player just simply being unblocked than having good athleticism. So at this point in time I, think he needs to showcase when he has the mismatch when there's a poor player across from him, he needs to be able to consistently take advantage of him if he can do that and then especially if he can show the ability to. beat and make impact plays against mediocre or good players. That's where you're gonNA have to have the talk about a second contract. But if he just continues to be steady, just a steady quality football player I, think the Cheeser just GonNa hack lead walk away and let somebody else pay them. You really need to see him come up and start to make more big time plays that changed the game. The Claude Asks Matt House was the Defensive Coordinator Defensive Coordinator candidate before spags recruited him to run the line back in court has the tape he has out so far made you excited for what he can do or you concerned the pro game might be too big for him. I'm not concerned about Matt How's Your I don't think he's had a lot to work with yet You know he too was learning spag Nello scheme just like the rest of the linebackers there he was given you know Antigens Damian, Wilson Been Niemann Doria. No Daniel and Daringly, and he tried out every single one of those linebackers in some sort of position just ended up with Hitchens Wilson Ragland, forgot Reggie my son I'm sorry son and. And Been, Niemann there. So I, I think that this is a situation where this is the year that we can see Matt House maybe take that step. We see what his true impact is because you got year two of the system for all of these guys and you guys I've been Niemann. If they'd take a step forward if you know Anthony Hitchens becomes a better player faster player and if gay gets on the field quickly then you start to see that Matt House and that higher become way way way more important. It's a tricky because like Craig said he wasn't handed A. Lot. But the chiefs front office thought Anthony Hitchens was a quality Mike linebacker based on how they played them or hate him dare was a first round pick at one point in time like obviously didn't work out but they thought that there was still something there were no daniel was a top one hundred, pick me like they thought these guys might have something in my house wasn't able to get a ton out of them for what the chiefs dot. Now when I watch those guys play I think Matt House did a fantastic job with what those guys can do on the field. is taking a very bottom tier linebacker group and trying to get them to play like the thirtieth best linebacker group in the NFL rather than the third quarter thirty second. So there's no issue there I think I do think that Matt House for me I liked him a lot more defensive coordinator candidate than. Back or coach so far but it's just not fair to him because he's learning into system. He hasn't been given a lot of help I'm more willing to give him another year to three years before I even start to question him these I. Really do like his resume and what he's been able to do in the past I, hope this year you see been Niemann or Damian Wilson Anthony Hitchens start show improvement in that way I can really bang tables A. This is what Matt House is doing right now. I mean, it was a small step but I do think Anthony Hitchens was better last year than he was his first year in Kansas City. Not, a large. Step but I think, I think he made a little bit of an improvement there So you can give him a little bit of credit in that regard lead on Damian will straight with Hitchens for the improvement. Yeah. But like I'm just talking about I, know I know I'm just saying look I you he was a dumpster fire in year one he was having to read an extra key before he took a step. Let's. Me, to be there, Lake Martinez had to do the same thing and played significantly better. So and it's not like Blake, Martinez is the stellar linebacker either. All right. Great googly Mugabe asks who leaves Kansas City First spags Matt House or Brennan Daily if it spags when does he leave in who does and who does Casey promote to be the defensive coordinator House or? Daily. Okay. So I think it's going to be daily that leaves I because I think the chiefs win the Super Bowl and the run starts on Thursday and I think after that, super? Bowl. Steve Spagnolo doesn't get an opportunity to be a head coach, but Brennan daily gets an opportunity to be a defensive coordinator when spags leaves I, Think Matt Houses Your Defensive Coordinator. I think it's bags like I think some team is going to strike out. Ought I think Joe Joe is going to strike out and they're going to need a steady veteran presence brings bagnall in the the giants are familiar with him and they want a coach that maybe understands the robes knows the way the NFL works and don't WanNa try a new coach that has never done something like this before and when that happens I think Brendan daily gets promoted I. Don't I'm not necessarily on the train that Brin daily wants to leave like one of the things he said when he first came here was. Yes my wife has family from here. Trust me. That's a big reason why we came like I. do think that he is a little bit more tight here than just the job I think that the job helps, but I think we're starting to see some of these moves that he's making Mike Dana Chris Jones to Sean Wharton even you know guys that are a little bit outside of the Spagnolo realm here seem like more daily kind of moves. So I think that maybe daily is kind of building the foundation to be able to take this over. Boy. Do I hope is right. I hope. I don't think. So I think what you're seeing in the NFL now is teams that are hiring new coaches they want the young, they want the hot offenses, mind quarterback Guru to come in groom the offense I. Think you're going to start seeing less immaturity hat you're seeing less and less defensive-minded veteran coordinators being promoted to head coaches for other teams in the NFL I. Think you look at the Broncos with Vic Fangio like it doesn't look like it's going great right now they're struggling to turnover that offense coordinator position to finally get someone to really lock in with drew lock and make it work like I think GM's or looking for that kind of connection from the head coach to the quarterback. On the offensive side of the ball. So I'm just not so sure there's going to be a huge market for Steve, spagnolo. Even if he makes this defense better and the chiefs repeat as much as I thought last year, even early, this offseason that spagnuolo would be out. If they win again, you a team's gotta come knocking. I just don't know if a team wants to kick the tires on veteran defensive coordinator Tata's chance essentially twice now as a head coach Brendan daily on the other hand if you're looking for that young guy, what Brennan daily can be a defensive coordinator or head coach and it would be a you know he would get a promotion he doesn't have to just make like. Back only has one option to leave as a head coach Brennan daily can get promoted to defensive coordinator or randomly as a head coach. He deserves a chance of defensive coordinator I. Hope It's here I really wanNA keep Brennan daily or no matter what I would risk firing Steve Spagnolo. If we had to keep Brennan daily at risk it because I really think that he is going to be one of those guys that keep around I just don't think Andy Reid will do that and I don't know if anyone's going to come banging on Steve Spagnuola at this point in time the way NFL had couches are going I will say this. If the Washington football team takes big steps this year, that is a veteran defensive coach. That moved and took over a team and older and older and righted the ship at. He'll have a track record with always. Oh Yeah. No. No. You can trust Ron Rivera to run the run the show, their like Steve Spagnolo you probably not being like, Hey, buddy, you're in charge of the draft. Rivera took a team to the Super Bowl as the head coach. Heinsohn SPAGNUOLA has one more with who he has won. Two Super Bowls as defensive coordinator. What more do you want this man to do? I think he knew, right. You're. All right guys. Well, that is going to do it for the mailbag edition. Leading into week one. Of the National Football League we will be back. I can't believe we're saying this. We'll be back with the game preview. On Day, can't wait. Don't forget the. Navy tonight Prime Time Watch that college football guys.

I'm Robert Mays joined a little differently by Danny Kelly. How are you buddy? Oh, man. I'm excited. Just just about to have this trap finally happened. I am very pumped up about doing a show because a couple of different things. I was gonna write something kind of bat shit crazy about the drafts for tomorrow. But then our boss, Bill Simmons like and Danny's just do some weird predictions about the draft house, a shed and the timing could not be in better because just thank the fucking content. God's for Dan Snyder and for the Washington Redskins overall about we're recording this little people in the current at one ten Pacific time and probably about a half hour ago. Grant Paulson who is radio host in in the Washington DC area tweeted that it seems as if Dan Snyder has taken over the first round of the Redskins draft this my favorite part about this draft. And you'd I discuss. A little bit this morning as we were planning this show is that anything off the table. There's so many different iterations that the top ten could take how that would affect the first round nothing that happens. Tomorrow night would surprise me. And that is the coolest possible I'm going into the first round with like a completely open mind. It's like I feel like I mean, obviously every year feels a little bit different. But like I can't remember feeling like like just the broad range of outcomes for how the first round could go. I can't remember it ever feeling like quite this wide open. So because the dress no consensus. Yes, there's no consensus and the trades were already made last year and in recent years, right? So like the Rams had already moved up. Eagles had already moved up last year. We already knew that the bills were planning on going up because they kind of assembled all of that draft capital the same the jets already traded. So it's like all right. Well, the Browns quarterback jets guns at quarterback. The bills are pregnant move up for one, you know, we know all this and this year nothing. Happened in everything has stood Pat. And that's how it is first round is going to be chaos. So we're going to do our ten big predictions for draft night and not gonna be singular predictions. They're going to be out specific position groups, they're not gonna they're going to be about just kind of trends, we're gonna see things that can unfold. So let's dive straight into this and very simply who is going to be the first pick in the draft. And where's he going to? So why don't you kick us off? I love that. First of all of that. We still have like not a very strong grasp on like what the answer is due to a certain degree. But continue. Yeah. I'm sticking with Cuyler Murray to the cardinals. I think you know, as we've talked about it. It's it came up at the combine it almost felt like certainty at that point that this is whatever this is what the cardinals are doing. But then that's why it got to the point where everyone is like over is over dodge too much. Why it's great. But you think that he's just you can't pass them up? You. He's that good. You think that no matter? What happens with Rosen? No matter what they end up getting four him. It's worth getting Cuyler Murray when you have the chance, and you don't give up anything more than your pick. I think he's that dynamic of a talent. I think there's obviously concerns about his height and his lack of starting experience. But I think he has the ability to be like a franchise changing player if they can get him in that system and get a little bit of a supporting cast around, obviously that's important too. But I just think he has that that upside in that potential to be a game changer for them. We did not see any of that with Josh Rosen. I mean, you can point to a few throws he made where last year where it's like, okay. I can see that. But like, that's it. I mean, there's this really wasn't that dynamic ability. I think Murray has that I think the cardinals are gonna Bank on that. I mean, I think you know, cliff Kingsbury has one shot at this probably as an fell coach head coach, I should say. And you know, I think just with the way. That the Rosen thing went in pass picks, not really painting. I think kind is you know, he's under the pressure to to really make this thing work in. So I think Murray is the answer to both of those things. And so I don't know. That's why lean that way. But again, it's I just kind of like wouldn't be shocked. If anything happens to be honest. I think Cutler Murray will be the first pick in the twenty nineteen NFL draft. I do I do not think it will be by the carton. Okay. Who which team I think the raiders make too much sense? They have the draft capital. They have the motivation. They got the ammo to move up for sure they absolutely do. And the moves they've made yet when it comes to free agency receivers, I think they want to win pretty soon and they want to build this team. They also need to sell this team. And oh, that's really good point. We've talked about the Derek Carr financial situation a lot on this show. I understand why you wouldn't cut Derek Carr in March. If you don't know what's going to happen. But if you pick our Murray, if you trade up draft counter move with the number one overall pick you can release their car if you want to you can cherry, Derek Carr. If you want to there are so many different things, you could do when you have the the flexibility of having a guy like color Moran, your Oster. And I just think if you're Arezzo China, I still believe injustice, I really do. And I think beyond believing in Josh Rosen. The reason that I feel like the cardinals should do this is that. At the benefit of having a quarterback on your roster. And having a top five pick is the you can trade that top five pick through hall. Exactly. Yeah. It's with the colts did last year. I think that is an option for you. And you believe in Josh Rosen as a quarterback still that is my favorite outcome for them because enough holes, and I just think that's what you do if that is available to you. And you think Rosen can do a Kingsbury needs him to do that is the move. I would make even if you think customers great. This isn't a Josh Rosen or Cuyler Murray thing it's Josh Rosen and the twenty third pick and a second round pick aunt or Cuyler Murray. And that's the calculus that you have to make it. I just think with all of those things in play. That's the move. I would make man, and it would be so much fun to see Murray on the on the same team with like Antonio Brown. William I'm sure that the raiders are thinking that exact same thing and the raiders have to be thinking one what is the best outcome for a football team. And to who are we gonna put on those goddamn billboards? And if you have that version of your team, and even if he doesn't play the even if you keep car, whatever to have that guy as the heir-apparent or you're starting quarterback when you're about to make this move to a region and a market that all they care about is entertainment value. It makes so much sense. To me. It's it's about how much you'd have to pay to go up and get. Yeah. And I I completely agree. I think it's such a fascinating scenario. And that's why that's why like making this pick making. This prediction. I think is so difficult because I think everything you said to me like makes total sense. And I can't I can't like poo poo any like your main points other than I just think my gut is telling me that the cardinals are going to love Murray to and they're gonna take him. So man, I mean, it's just crazy. It's going you're the cardinals. Right. Like, let's let's play this on a practical level if you trade one for four, and what's what are the other the raiders of their first round picks? They got twenty four and twenty seven seven. That's the bears pick, right. Twenty four is the bears. Pick twenty seven is the Cowboys pick Cowboys lesson you get twenty four th pick in the fours pick for number one. K plus an extra second round or whatever. So at four you take Josh L, for example, and twenty four you get let's say, let's say it for quite a Williams is still there you get Quinn. Williams at four let's say. Twenty four Brian burns is still there. Right. So you get Josh Rosen. Brian burns, Quinton Williams. And I don't know, what's Joon, whatever. What's his name the corner the long corner Williams joins let's say you get a second round pick from or let's even the third round pick. Let's say you can pick Darrelle Henderson in the third round. Just again, all this is all hypothetical. Just the so jot you instead of Murray you get Josh Rosen. Quinton Williams Brian burns, Daryl Henderson. Right. So maybe it's not a running back because you've David Johnson. But let's say you get miles boykin. Right. So you have miles boykin corden Williams Brian burns and Josh Rosen. This is the type of stuff it's taken. I think that's why it's worth considering. I I know, but I just think that again the quarterback the importance of quarterback the way I look. You a team around him is so crucial that I if I'm the cardinals. I'm actually I'm still sticking with with Kylie Marie in this in this instance, I just think he has the ability to to make that big of difference in like in that scenario that you laid out it's definitely like convincing. But at the same time, I don't think burns are gonna fall that far. That's all that stuff has to happen. Plus those guys have to turn out, of course. And that's just yeah. But that's the thing. It's but there's no guarantee that Murray is gonna turn out. I know it's not like you trading for drew bees. And asterix. All these guys are all these guys are, and that's why it's a me. I just think that I believe in Rosen and offer the gap between what rose and could be for. You Murray could be for you is not worth giving up those players and could possibly be on the table. That's what I'm saying. Believer in. That's it informs my opinion of all of this stuff. But I think that's something you have taken to account all cardinals. The the nice thing is the cardinals know who rose in is. I think more than anyone at this point. Obviously since they've seen him in practice and they've seen him in the building and all that stuff. So they have a very strong grasp. I think of who they think rose and can be and so I think that's going to inform this decision. And we'll find out. I mean at this point. I it's really split. Like, I think it's come to the point where a lot of people don't believe that Murray is gonna go number one. So it's really fascinating. I think it would never one again. I just don't think it'd be Arizona, and let's throw Brian burns. Let's let's put Cody Ford in there. So you get your offensive line to protect your your quarterback. And you get Wyman and you get a corner or receiver. Whatever there's it's too much to give up for my in my opinion, if you can get something of a hall for. All right. What's gets a prediction number two question? Number two. Yeah. We're gonna stay on the quarterback train because that's all anyone gives a shit about. Let's be honest. That's gonna define the draft. Let's be course. Saying that to you is probably the worst that you could possibly here. I just broke down one hundred guys in the last two weeks. I care about the quarterback. All right. Yeah. How many quarterbacks go in around one? I think it's a really fun question. And I think we have the same answer. But I think we have slightly different details associated with it. So let's go a couple layers here. How many quarterbacks go off the board around one? What order they go in and to which team? Do they go at it would pick. That's another part of this. So you go first, and then I will tell you why you're wrong. Okay. So I think there's going to be four quarterbacks. Okay. We're blurred first round. We're we agree on that. We are in concert there. Let's go. And then to me the order, there's a huge question Mark about the order because of the potential for teams to like trade up and everything, and I think the order ultimately will come down to Murray to the cardinals drew lock to the giants Haskins to the Broncos and then Daniel Jones the Redskins. But as we heard today the Redskins and giants are. Both potentially looking to trade up for either Jones lock or Haskett. I don't like there's there's really no consensus on what the reports are saying. So the order to me is less important. I that's my those are my connections. I think murder cardinals. Locked giants Haskins Broncos Jones Redskins. So my opinion is different. And I also think we have the mid vastly different spots. He has I think Murray's one to the raiders, I think Haskins goes number three to Washington. They trade up to three. Oh, yes. I think the Jones goes number six to the giants. And I think lock goes number ten to the Broncos. I mean there are four quarterbacks in the top ten. That could shit happens man every year. It's like how many guys, you know, is how remember like a September Eric Tober when we were people were trying to defend the giants getting saquon Barkley. It's like well there are many quarterbacks in the first round in this draft. So they made a great choice. It's like all right. That's cool. Four the top twelve and I really do feel like that could happen. Oh, yeah. I do too. I mean, this this class really reminds me of what it what was it like twenty eleven club the plane Gabbard Christian. Ponder Jake Loftus group. Yeah. Can't or I guess it was twenty was at twenty seven twenty seven. Oh, yeah. That because that was the ridiculous hall of fame defense year. When all those teams really screwed up and quarterbacks I said Cam Newton Kennedy's very good player. So this I think has a very strong feel too that like that's just how like I think everyone's getting desperate. It's a great comparison. And I mean, you're going to have a guy like Jake locker go number eight, you know. Eight overall. And I remember just like I very vividly. Remember everyone talking about Christian ponder as a first round pick. And I was just like what? And that's how I feel about like Daniel Jones right now. It's just like what what do they see? So you've come around on. Drew lock your rock do believe or now. I would do that. I actually think I might have like come around a little bit on his overall pretentious. Let's do this come on. I I'm I'm not confident in that whatsoever. Actually, just using that class like lock locker reminds me of of lock a little bit. Ponder reminds me of Daniel Jones, absolutely. And then who else was set who Gabar game. It reminds me of Dana Jones also kind of I don't know who has skins doesn't really have a common that class. Probably. But weirdly, they're all more athletic than Haskins. They all those guys had some movement skills at Haskins does not whatsoever. PF had really interesting comparison at least statistically for one guys. NFL stats with Haskins is college stats, and it was Sam Bradford I saw which I thought was very interesting. I was like that makes sense stylistically they're not necessarily the same. But in terms of what you wanna pocket passer? I could see that kind of thing if you could say healthy, that's not like necessarily the worst thing. I I'm with you. Trust me. I've always been more of a Sam Bradford defender than most people. But so I think that both of us are the of the opinion that there's going to be so movement within the top five or the top seven for some of these guys because I think that there it's about the noise rate. So what say before the draft even starts Washington is worried that Oakland would take Haskins of Ford. That's why you need to get to three for jets. Definitely want to trade out of that pick of possible. Yeah. They've like telling everyone that they want to move back there in the perfect spot. It's the exact opposite spot of where they were last year when they had to trade up with the team they had a quarterback it's the benefit of having a quarterback in that area. And the reason I think they're more prone to do it at three than San Francisco is at two is because it's a different time line, and it's a different level of urgency. I think that the jets. I mean McCain has done such terrible job. And I think they need to win relatively now. But if I you ever coach all that stuff with Lynch and Shanahan. We're going to year three they haven't done anything in the wind. Calm. I still have a lot of faith in what they can do. But I think they're more prone to stay there and take a Bosa because like blue chip player. Yes. Because it's about optics about message. It's like all right. We are getting the best guy because we're making the best team right now. I think that should does Matt. So out of in a move they made like in their first year. Correct. Or did they did make it in the first year? They moved from two to three and the fleece might team out of two third round picks forgot about it. Yeah. Thanks. Yeah. So I think that three makes more sense for Washington. The Jones giants six and seventeen thing it just so strange to me that a year after they didn't like any of the quarterbacks. And there's a guy, you know. None of them are worth two. They would risk saying we want a quarterback. In this draft. But would take whatever's there seventeen it just it's my problem with everything this team has been over the last twelve months, there's no cohesive. There's no plan. No, there's there's so many countries. Dick three elements of the stuff they do. And the that's the most frustrating part of it is that you can do things that are seemingly against the grain, and they're seemingly Geddes conventional wisdom, but they have to be part of one cohesive approach. Exactly what they do is not that. And that's why it's so frustrating, and I think honestly. Jones were to go six in the giants Jones noises real Alaka sitting there at ten for Denver. I would do backflips over the Broncos. Yeah. I think that's better than him. I think he's really talented into not have to move up. I think is great the two things we have not discussed before we get going to our next question here is which none obvious teams are in play for a move like this. Yeah. And I think the answer is two-fold. I think it's Cincinnati. I think it's Miami. You're not going to throw the buccaneers in there. So I don't think so because I think it's tough to move on from James in year one of of new coach. And I think the ownership based on what I've heard when people have told me is committed to at least figuring out this year and moving fully in. What happens is here in the? Yes. Yeah. That makes total sense the other team. I mean at the very least if he plays really well under areas you franchise him in figure it out a year later. That's having that weapon is really important that of so I do I agree with you. I think the Bengals. In the dolphins or the other kind of two potential quarterback teams in this class. And then I mean going down the list, can you the titans I've actually heard kind of mentioned in the same breath. But that was before the riot tannehill deal to me. Yeah. And that's fair. That's they would have been in that mix because I think they're less sold on Mario than the than the bucks are on Winston or less committed to for the next year. But I think that with tannehill you give yourself another bite at the apple. And I think that's why they're not in the same group with the Bengals in the dolphins to me. The thing about the dolphins in the Bengals is they don't have to be aggressive, right? There is no there's no motivation. There's no they don't have to be pushed to do something. That's not prudent or not in the best interest of their franchise because they have answers right now. Or if you're Miami, you just don't care is that we'll win two games. We'll figure it out after the dolphins. Actually, remind me a little bit of. The cardinals last year in the sense that I don't think the cardinals went into the draft thinking we're gonna pick Rosen. You know, we're gonna trade up for him aggressively in pick rose, I think it was like he started to fall. They had a very good grade on him, and then they moved up, and they didn't have to didn't have to spend a ton to move up to get him. So I could see the dolphins taking the same sort of tack in sense that you know, if one of these guys starts falling if lock is there, they could they could take him. But I think they're not gonna like you said they're not going to spend big resources to move up and take a guy win. They're really not established and prepared to contend with a rookie contract at this point. They they wanted like continue to allocate resources in the kind of then go from there next year's draft class with quarterbacks is always gonna be better. But like it actually is better. And so I think yeah, I'm with you. I I if I were them I would wait till next year. We Kevin I've talked about we talked about in the show. We like building the dolphins plan yet difference to me. The cardinals last year in the dolphins this year is that the cardinals were kind of a no-man's-land when it came to team building. They were a team. Yeah. Just treated for channel Jones and paid him a lot of money. They were a team that had given out money in free agency defensive lineman to kind of reshape that group two years earlier they were in just scrambling after areas left in Palmer decided to retire. They just didn't have any certain direction, and they tried to rebuild on the fly. The dolphins are not reap. They're not on the flight at all the dolphins are rally into the plan that they have right now. And I think that's why they would be less prone to say, oh there he is. Maybe let's go do it. I think they're going to stay the course more than most teams witness situation because they have absolutely no reason to panic. Yeah. All right. Let's see. I always forget that the cardinals had Sam Bradford last year. It was it. It's. It is one of the most indefensible choices the team has made in some time. They gave him twenty million dollars. How man and Glenn right? Wasn't Glennon on the team to. Yes. And that but Clinton is the exact version of that year earlier with Chicago, you're going to do this. You do it Miami. Did you give Ryan Fitzpatrick five and a half million dollars? That's how you do this. So I love the dolphins. Okay. Let's move to question. Number three, the position group that really seems like it will be the defining position group of this class. So how will the defensive line class dictate how the first round goes at how early would we see the run on those guys in the first ten to fifteen picks. So each of those guys do you see coming off the board? Let's say the dolphins pick a thirteen. Right. So let's say from one to thirteen where the dolphins are in dolphins have every need on the in the books. So they're in play to pick one of these guys that they like him how many guys from one to thirteen. Do you think our defensive linemen if? We don't see quarterback craziness. The see here. I'm just going to go down the list. Okay. I think Bosa Josh Allen coining Williams, Ed Oliver. So it's four. And then. I think you could make the argument for Brian burns. He's easily slip in the top ten to me at five. If he went to Detroit at eight would you even blink? No. I would not as me at all. So at least five and then I think monta sweat is a huge wildcard. But he's probably gonna go in that range too. So I think six is like six of the top fifteen I think are going to be defensive I'm in. And then we've already said four potentially in the first ten are going to be quarterbacks. So we're talking about ten of the fifteen I picks are going to be like either defensive line or quarterback. I mean, that's there's tons of scenarios. But like potentially that's cocoa. So that's why. So if you're a team like Detroit or team like buffalo, for example, who has a lot of needs a lot of places it can really go any direction. I mean, if you're the bills which positions are off the board to you quarterback. I get maybe you let your safeties. I mean, you could easily use another corner they have a young corner that they like, but I I don't think it precludes them. They could use some injection of speed at linebacker and some youth their defensive line, especially on the edge skin. They're old and those guys are entering finally drafted jury Hughes's. So there seems like everything is on the table for buffalo. I think Detroit is in a very similar spot. The spot for Detroit that doesn't make any sense to me is tight end because they just spent on tight in free agency. I can't imagine them taking a top ten pick. I've seen Hopkinson there that doesn't make any sense to me. But if you refer for Detroit fans, I hope they don't take Hopkinson just because it seems like top ten tight ends in in Detroit is like a recipe extra. Yeah. Exactly. It's like I say. Like, I say Rick Spielman wife told him yesterday, so Mike you take a corner she's kicking him out of the house. There's a little bit of the troubled history. There's I it's going to affect how people see it. But teams like that. And I think that the team like another great example, Atlanta if four quarterbacks go in the top ten and you're the falcons and the lions come on the board and Ed Oliver's there stump something like that. You're just rejoicing. If you're a team that needs defensive line help if those quarterbacks go because that means more guys are in play for you. Yeah. Absolutely. And if you're the falcons trading up from fourteen to eight I don't know, I don't have the trade value in front of me. But it's like something like a third or fourth rounder. Maybe till it go up there. Obviously, it's not like an break your Bank completely. And to be able to get a blue chip player. You know, at that spot is going to be huge. It's like having a top ten pick. When you're not in the top ten, and it's it's. I don't know. I think it's definitely possible that some of these like top guys, you know, like the the best talents in this class could start to follow bit. Because of that for Atlanta is a team in that mid range that I feel again is on a slightly different time line than some of those others. The giants obviously are in sleight rebuilding mode in Minnesota's in that kind of seam range too. But I can't see them necessarily making an aggressive move. They've never done anything like that. I think they're cool at eighteen because they don't have a ton of needs that outside of offensive line there really set in most places, and I think in offense alignment will be there. But for Atlanta who's a team that desperately needs front seven help. Whether it's on the edge. If you just want to make Vic Beasley situational pass rusher or whether it's on the interior those guys are going to be there. And I think your window is such that it would make sense to go up and make a move like a big impact player because you have great Jarrett's on the franchise tag, your enough to extend him Dion Jones contracts is going to be a very soon it. But before you know, it it Okano Neal going to need. Sort of he's first round picks. Obviously he's going to last a little bit longer. But I mean, those young players are only cheap for so long with Jared and with Jones it's pretty much over. So you really need to do something right now they spent so much on their offense. It just feels like they're the team that if that if it falls that way, they're one of those guys that could land defensive lineman that we're not necessarily thinking about. Yeah. I mean, it's like the lifestyle of the life cycle of a roster is is the life cycles. Maybe what like three years long or something like that? It feels like they are in that, you know, ready to sort of change out and start a new type phase when this is their last shot the hundred percent in that world a couple of years ago when they traded for Sheldon Richardson, even though he was on last year of his deal. It's like these on the other end. Yeah. Exactly. Now, they're kind of reshaping it and sort of starting from scratch not scratch, but like just reshuffling the deck, I guess or whatever. And so Julio Jones isn't getting any younger. I mean when when he's in their prime, I think they want to definitely take advantage of that. And Alex Mack is not getting. A younger, so yeah. I mean, it's it's I think you're absolutely right. Like their window for it's not like they're window for championship is closing. But their window in this life cycle of their present roster. I think is closing so, yeah, I think it would make sense. So even beyond scheme fitting team fit. Let's talk about the edge guys and the interior guys just real quick which edge guy, if you were to go in the top twelve would you say, I don't know about that. And which if somebody reached for me, you'd say, you know, what I actually like that. So the guy that I've I mean, I think the obvious top ten pick that I would shut her at a little bit. As resign. Gary just leave me, oh so far away from all of that. I have no interest whatsoever. I think it's just it's one of those things where player our teams fall in love with the players traits in his athleticism, even though his his production at Michigan was never impressive. And he's also got like this labor machine now. So there's multiple huge huge red flags with this guy. I've heard people compare them to robbery and Kim DJ in the sense that I think you know, teams definitely sort of fell in love with Kenichi. There's other factors there that you know, are different. But personality factors can be Jay to right. The end of the first round because of that. But so, yeah, I think to me that's the one that it'd be like man, I just with so many other good players on the board of that spot like taking a risk on that type of thing is to me, not worthwhile. So you'd rather have burns a hundred times out of one hundred. Yeah, definitely. And he's got there's red flags with him too. But to me just I I saw the production. I saw I like to traits for burns, more, frankly. So they're fantastic. Yeah. So. I personally would Gary's the definitely the one. And we didn't even include him in that in that in the last sort of discussion of the top thirteen guy. He could certainly go on the top thirteen though. I would think that'd be huge mistake. Let's talk about the into your guys because I think the Clinton Williams and Oliver we both think those guys are going to the top ten depends on where they end up falling the to the people of this conversation that I think could throw a wrench into all of this or the the that Jerry Jeffrey when I watched jury Tillery, it's the that is dude who built a make an impact in the passing game. I mean, just explosive penetrator to somebody that really can get after it. And Jeffrey Simmons has been talked about as a top ten pick in so many ways spaced on town. Obviously, you know, there's the incident that happened when he was in high school and people have talked about how that my affect status and the SEO there are so many reasons that you shouldn't take a risk on him. But based on talent we've seen teams take risks on players that are. Talented. That's what I say. So I think both of those guys are players that teams might look at the top fifteen and some of those other guys are gone and say why not we need a guy at that spot. Why can't back one of those guys be it? I mean, absolutely. I think you know, I've seen people scouts in an analyst that I respect I think he's in some guys like top three he in terms of this class Simmons. Yes. Jeffrey simmons. That's how good he is. I think that's his upside is as a completely dominant interior defender, I've calmed him to Fletcher Cox. But I mean, I've seen you think you've got strong because he seems leaner to me. That's the thing about caucuses when you see him when you see a movie three twenty and he's just barely people over along with the explosiveness. That's the thing. When I watched Simmons today, I went back and watch a little bit of Philly remind you of he'll run me a little bit more of Chris Jones. I mean, and that's that's a hell of play right there because the length with so much more important if that makes sense, and he can play all over the line to I think he could play on like in a four and a four in even could play like the five tack or whatever. And so yeah. And I really liked Simmons allies a player. I think he's gonna be really really good. Like, you said there's obviously a couple of caveats to his his stock. You know, he's going to have to take Richard year, which is a big deal to a lot of teams. So yeah, he's he's a huge wild card for the first time. I don't know where he's going to go. Oh, man. I'm proud of myself because the Simmons is two inches shorter. So Simmons is six four and Chris Jones six sixty tons a length. They have the same length arms though, the exact same like arms, which I'm very proud of. That's awesome. Swimmings and stuff where you could see the length. And that's why I thought he was told her that. So I think that when I watch him it's not a one to one comparison. But I saw she shares of that if we're stealing from your draft guide. I liked that. I liked that a lot. All right. Let's go to number four. How does the receiver class shape this round? And maybe the bigger question will it at all. Because it's it's me it is the coolest position in this draft from the sense of there's so many different types of players. I mean, whatever you want whatever flavor of receiver. You're looking for. He's probably available in the Strath, but none of them are complete. So we're not gonna see a guy go that high. So how do you see that position group kind of shaking out tomorrow? Yeah. So I think this is the deepest position in in the draft. I think I mean, okay. You could make an argument that the defensive line is I I think there's more receivers in this class that have like high upside than any other position, where's the bottom of that list to you? So where where would you have that cutoff of guys, you think and make a serious impact? Like the end of the third round you at Isabela yours at seventy one on your big board. I think. Yeah. So who is there anyone behind that? Let me check you both Samuel. Maybe I care. I don't have your entire thing memorize, but the fact that I could pull Isabelle. Route off memorize it. Maze. That is just rude. Let's see here. I've got. Really, I got Riley really at number ninety nine. He's he's on a lot of guys boards much higher than that. I got Keyshawn Johnson in there in the mix. Terry MacLaurin from Ohio State. I think is a very interesting player Jalen Hurd from Baylor tons of potential Mickle Hartman from Georgia. Those guys are all after India's Abella. So there's I mean, those a lot of those guys are sort of projects in their raw. But I think all of them have the potential to be impact players for teams. I compte Keyshawn Johnson to Tyler Boyd, you know. Jalen Hurd reminds me a little bit of Korol Patterson and since he could be like an offensive weapon he could play in the slot. I think and be interesting. He he was a former running back. That's why he did the coro Patterson thing. I completely understand where you're coming from with. So it stylistically anyway, I get it. I think McColl hardman is like a poor man's pairs Campbell in the sense that he's you know, very very fast track speed you can use them on to stretch defense. I think some people are saying Paris Campbell could go in the first round. I don't think that'll happen. But. It is certainly possible. So there's a lot of really interesting receivers in this class. That's the preamble to me saying that I think only two receivers will go on first round. That's my prediction. Okay. Which one I think I think that Hollywood Brown is gonna be the first my guy. Yeah. I mean, so first of all when I when I first sat down to start studying this class Markey's Brown was the guy that jumped off the tape to me like I thought his his tape was outstanding. I hadn't heard a ton like I kinda went into it a little bit blind. Just trying to like formulate my own opinions in my first impression was like this guy is going to be a freaking stud. And then as I went on in the in the draft process. He kind of fell down my board because list Frank injury because of the size concerns like we've talked about several times on this guy. Like, he's hundred sixty six pounds. That's a huge concern this weekend. One seventy one just is to go over this. That's a good threshold. I I like that. I asked him point blank Beclere. I was with Markey's bro best weekend. So we're not like friends texting. I did this story on him. I was on his couch in his apartment looked at. How much you weigh in these days? He's one seventy-one definitive about it. But yeah, I mean, I I really just like his table out there certainly concerns and that that can be said about kind of every receiver in this class. But I think he's gonna go. He's going to be the first receiver off the board. I had if I had to predict it right now. And then I think the other guy that's gonna go in the first round is AJ Brown. He's a, you know, he's kind of taking a back seat in some ways to Cape Metcalf in terms of like the perception in everything. But you know, he was the most productive player in that offense. He was he played in the slot. He can kind of I think he can play outside. He can track the ball down the field. He's a he's another like to support guy. I think he was drafted to the major leagues. He he's just he's big. He's built like a running back. He's a receiver run in a running backs body. And so he's he's a very interesting guy who I think could have a he could hit the ground running in the NFL more than a lot of these guys. So I want to talk about both of them because I think they're really interesting with Hollywood Brown. The the size concerns are totally legitimate. But when I was talking to him. We were talking about that. And he was discussing kind of his progression as receiver and his Antonio balances cousin which only matters to a certain degree, except when you think about how much they've worked out together, Dan's big, you really when he can't. And this is not just from him. This is from Oklahoma's coaches. This is Lincoln Riley telling me when when Hollywood worked out with Antonio for like four or five times between his first and second year, it'll calm he came back as a different player, and he's always fast. Yeah. I mean, he has four two four three speed. But he always was running routes. Full speed always every single row was full speed. His only move that year more or less was a hesitation than move into a speed release. Yeah. Antonio taught him that. You don't always have to go fast. There's no need to be fast. All the time. It's Wendy go fast Wendy separate at the end of rats. How do you use pace in order to play with guys expectations? How do you understand leverage and how to set people off left to right when? You're setting people up left to right. If you are going outside to set somebody back. He was telling me this just describing slants using if I'm going out to make a guy slide out, and I'm trying to break back in. He's a good corner. And he knows that I'm just going all the way up. He's the I I'm not even try to if I I want him to think I'm running a slant when I'm actually going outside, and I'm not going to go inside. And then back out. I'm just gonna do that little hesitation then keep going. He just he learned from Antonio so much how to have an answer to every single question. And that's what makes him so cool to me. And that's what makes him so intriguing is that he's not just the speed receiver. He has all of these tools in its toolbox now, and we were talking about the idea of leverage. And he was it was such so cool to hear him talk about it. I was just like intrigued the whole time. I was just captivated is like, I way whatever way, but I'm not stupid. I'm not trying to run this guy over and get open. I'm not at Hopkins or rob gronkowski or whatever. I am. As my game entirely off of leverage understanding where he's trying to play me and attacking half of his body. And if at one sixty six I'm able to as a guy who benches three hundred fifteen pounds, get my hands on half of his body because I understood the leverage he was trying to play half of me or half of him is still lighter than all of me. And it was just such a really nuanced way to think about it. And I just think that's why I would love him on my team because it's not just the speed. He has such a good handle on how to play the position how every single player in coverage. I is a tuned to the other how they're all on a string. I learned so much about the receiver position from sitting and talking to him for a day that I just think any team that here's him talk about it. Like that will look at his physical skills and say I want that dude. Yeah. Man, you're giving me really. Jumped up. He's already. He's he's my number one guy ended up being my number one guy on my big board. I think we haven't updated it yet. But it will be up today. He ended up being my number one guy. He kind of took the jump in the last week or two I'm just like going back to my first time watching I was just like man that guy. He's freaking good everything. You just said, I think is awesome. I was just picturing in Tokyo Brown running routes that whole time. But also he does have that speed which is also huge party. And he I like the I like the quote in your story remind me who was by. But he said there's like six or seven get his a gear that like six or seven guys have like he is absurdly fast that run away like halfway through the route type speed, that's rare. And so at that is everything that you've just seen in world class speed. That's what his junior college coach told me the chain. The that was like man that like I'm super excited about it. You know, I I think apart from the injury or or the the injury Scituate. With his foot in obviously, the weight thing is an issue. But like to me, I just get really I think he has the chance via star. So something he told me that was not in my story. That's actually worth mentioning when it comes to the injury. He has extremely high testosterone level it's normally high and it's much much higher than in Tonio bronzes and that plays into healing time. Oh, interesting. Yeah. So they did blood work when he was working with Antonio part of the entire process, and he said that he had an abnormally high testosterone camp and that plays into recovery time. I did see I saw someone apologies camera. Who was but they said some team is one hundred percent confident that he's going to get back to his pre injury speed. So that kinda like assuage, my my fears a little bit too. There is a team in the top five that told him that we would like you to be on our team before the day is over. That's all I will say we're gonna come back to this. Because we have another question. I think and we'll we'll revisit that. So let's talk about AJ Brown before we move onto our next question because I think the the to the wood set marquees Brown of art, and what sets AJ Brown apart. I think are two specific things that are different than the rest of these guys. I think that this class is the struggles with separation, and that's where Hollywood is different than all of these guys. That's what he does. And I think that's why he's a unique element of this draft brand. The other thing is floor. I think a lot of these guys have very low floors, even if you like keen bowler. I think it could be a disaster. I think the same school for Nicule, Harry, I think AJ Brown has the highest floor of any receiver in the draft. I think at the very least he'll be productive useful player in the NFL. And I think that's why him in Hollywood smear the first round considerations. This is exactly my that was exactly kind of my thought process. Like if you go go down the list de que Metcalf Hickey Butler. Nicole Harry Kelvin Harmon JJ or Sega Whiteside. Those guys are all sort of in the conversation as some of the top receivers in this class. Obviously, everyone has a different list. But all of those guys are big physical. And I think if you look at any one of those scouting reports can say like oh could struggle separating at the next level. So yeah, I mean, I think like you said that that gives them that sort of floor that a lot of these guys don't have the higher floor. I should say. And so yeah, the in and I think because it's such a deep class a receiver. I think some teams may be willing to wait until the second round to kinda like we find that guy. I will say I think idiot Brown is the perfect patriots receiver. Oh, yeah. I mean, he he would be awesome. That offense so much yak. We could put them in the slot. If you wanna put out outside flexibility. I just think that he fits exactly what they want. Do. You wanna do you wanna preview of my final mock draft who I do? The Packers at thirty. Now. You know, I I reject this as an idea, I see you got the dragon kinda like in your in your thoughts about it's too good to be on the path. I have no interest. Yoked version of Randall Cobb. No, that's not what I wrote. I'm not interested in that whatsoever. All right question. Number five will any linebackers cracked the top ten. I think this is a different question than should any linebackers cracked the top set. Because so much of what we've discussed on the show already is how many quarterbacks could go all the defensive lineman. I think both Devon's or top ten type talents, and or at least top twelve type towns. Yes. And I think that the way this draft could fall even if you have a lot of defensive lineman going in that range in the top ten whatever even quarterbacks I think both Cincinnati and Green Bay desperately need an injection of athleticism at that part of their defense. And they're picking eleven and twelve and that's why I think both of those guys could be gone by that point yet. I completely agree in in in the show. I I asked you before the show like what's your impression of roquan Smith? He was a top ten pick. You know, how he felt about having him on your defense? And then you. In the notes just said how you feel about your fucking guy. Bobby Wagner is the Seahawks are building their their defense around. That's exactly he's the guy who they trust to be like the the core nucleus player the foundational player of their defense. If they'd redraft he he would be top ten pick. Absolutely. He's a stud. I mean, I'm there could be jokes about that one MVP votes. He got that one time. But yeah, he he's he's a high high impact player sets the tone for their defense. I think he he's underrated because the L O B in in all that for for years. But he's he's an outstanding player. And I think you could say the same about Lou Keithly Kikuyus in that mold, and I think robots with has just be really good. I think him coming on so late last year missing training camp. All of that stuff. I think that matters for rookie. It really does. I'm hopeful about the player, he can turn into part of the reason I think that defense can stay off aggression is that he could be so much better in year two. But I think the Bobby Wagner is a perfect example of why a guy like this can be a transformative player and worth a top ten. To twelve pick because they're the effect every play they're all over the field or in the middle of what you're doing. And I think that we used to have this understanding that was going on on the outside was more important that was going on on the inside corners or more valuable than safeties defensive as more valuable than defensive tackles edge Russia's were more valuable than middle linebackers. But the way teams are exploiting the middle of the field, and how much it stretched horizontally now, and how every single blade of grass matters. I think being closer to the ball is more important than it's ever been. And that's why I think that even if the running game isn't as much part of football right now. And that's why linebacker value may be mitigated. I still think the right guy is worth it. If he's that player that can cover enough ground and both us Evans are like that. Plus both of these guys are extremely good Blitzer. I mean, Evan Bush's particularly at it. Yeah. Did the timing the physicality in his ability to both dance around running backs and put his elbow on the show. On the chin of it offense guard for a guy that it's that small. I love both of them. I like Bush just because again, the physicality I think that Devon white is a more of a finesse player. I think even if Bush's smaller I still think he plays bigger for when it comes to just how much he asserts himself. There's a length concern in in coverage, and maybe just in terms of tackling is he gonna miss guys because he just doesn't have that sort of wingspan everything else. I get those. But I just think both of them are really fucking good just period. I would want them. I absolutely agree. I got him like one one b I've got Bush as my top guy but whites right behind him. And so everything you've heard in the last two weeks has Devon white going to the buccaneers number five. We'll see if that happens Abby insane. I mean, I I understand it. But it'd be cool. I mean, it'd be a really good conversation topic the idea of a running back or a off ball linebacker being a top five pick the last time that happened. It's been a while. Can't earn Koreans Curry's the top the last top five one. I was fourth overall. Yeah. AJ Hawkeye believe was fifth overall. Yeah. Seven a second. While it's been ten years. I'm just pulling this shit, by the way. Don't worry about me. Let's go. I just wrote about this like two days ago. All right. Let's move on to another position that kind of similar conversation about and that is tight end. And will we see a top ten tight end this year? And should we see a topside set top Tyneside end this year? So let's start with the second question. Do you think any tight end is worth drafting in the top ten? I go back and forth about it so much. I think no. But the way that the NFL is changing in the way, the tight ends position is kind of like emerging as such a mismatch creation type thing. I can I could get the I I understand the argument for it. But history certainly sells us that. No. It's not worth it. Like you can find those guys in the second third round. So I don't know. I mean, George kettle is a frigging fifth rounder a few years ago. You take him in the top ten right now if you could. That's the hottest thing. Right. I think that kills success will affect how people view Hopkinson, whether they should or not. They're different players total wearing the helmet coming from the same program, though, say look at Hawkins production at Iowa killed a Jack shit at that school. And now he's a game changing player. I mean that people are going to say that that is is human nature to think that I am with you on the mismatch creation and just how much diversity and personnel matters. I also think you can do that and cheaper ways. I love TJ Hopkinson. I would take him in the top ten, but I also could hear the argument of if you're a team like let's say Green Bay, for example, and you just hired about the floor. You really changing your approach offense. The you're going to be more multiple personnel less. Would you rather? Take teacher Hopkinson at twelve or take Trevan west go in the fourth round and be able to have him be your blocking tight end. Right. And that be how you become multiple, personnel wise. I think it's about value. And I think more teams. Is want guys like this? But how if you take a guy in the top ten he has to change your roster. Yeah. And I think it's really hard to do at that position. And I was listening to the rota world podcast that Ben fennel. Josh norris. All those guys. Those Ted win was on there. It was a very good show. All I'm forgetting somebody. Oh, Dan Brugere. And they were I think I believe it was Josh I feel bad. If I am describing someone else there were a lot of voices. But Josh brought up how much OJ how respond to be that guy. And he wasn't. Yes. He hasn't been as much as you love Hopkinson. I think that it's hard to shape your offense around that kind of guy. And I think if you take a skill position player on offense within the top twelve you have to shape your offense around him. And I don't know if teaching Hawkins consider any tight end will ever be that. Yeah. And I I'm on the same page. I think if you're if you're a fan of a team you take concern. It's like, yeah. That's exciting. And he's he'll help you. Yes. But. Like, I agree with you like to me is it's a question of like, what do you call it just value in in in cost of that that marginal cost or whatever at that position? Who you giving up to take him in the top ten like who are you giving up a potential game changing pass rusher? A cornerback shutdown corner opportunity cost is the word. I was looking for so yes, absolutely. Right. So I don't know. I love Hopkinson is gonna be really good. But he is one player on my list of potential players that could kinda fall a little bit. Compared to what I think everyone thinks only one tight ends been selected in the top ten since two thousand seven only three in this century heaven in the top ten and the title selected in the top ten two thousand seven no one would do again. Right. Exactly. It'd be the lions fans are still kind of seeing Eric and finding sleep Beckham. This is perfect example. There you go opportunity cost people. So I think that I'm totally with you. And who was the last tight end that we projected as a possible top ten pick. And where did he go? It was OJ Howard the twenties again. No seventeen. Yeah. Seventeen or eighteen so, yeah, I I'm with you on every element of that discussion. All right. All right. Let's get to the most important part of this entire conversation. How does the offense ally class checking out your seven? This is interesting to me because it's great yet. So I think both of us believe that Jona Williams is the best tackle flash offense of Lyman in this class. He's the one I would bet on. Yeah. Every the NFL feels differently. It's very very fascinating. I was actually listened to another wrote a world podcast. They do great podcasts today with Evans Silva, and that guy's a hack. He doesn't know anything. He was talking about just how that was by the way fronts. I've just got Chris clear we clear, but you know, he was talking about how like the NFL a lot of teams apparently reportedly view him as a center, you know, low rates man, they love our length get outta here with that shit. So I think it's very very fascinating. See how this line clash shakes out. I think John Taylor is going to be the top guy potentially to come off the board. Even though I still I I'm the same as you. I would I would bet on Williams above anyone. But I'm wondering if the NFL fell differently. So I feel here's what I think about the tackle class. And I. It's really interesting in terms of need and draft order and how the skull shakeout because the back half of the top ten is full of teams that need help at those spots. So you think about the Jags at seven buffalo Denver all theoretically could take a tackle, right? You can have the top three guys gone by that spot the team, I think that is going to be most prone to do something really aggressive in the first round because they need so much help at that spot and those three guys are so definitively kind of in the class of their own. Maybe with Cody Ford a little bit behind them is Houston. Yeah. If you're if you're the Texans right now, and you're looking at buffalo at nine Detroit at eight again bowl teams that need a lot of help in a lot of spots. And you really think your window is a certain length, and that's the one spot you need. Do you? Call them and say, we'll give you you know, whatever twenty pick twenty third right? Yeah. So twenty three in. In a second round pick or in the two second round picks to come up to nine and take John Williams because I think they're the team that would be willing and ready to do that. Personally. I wouldn't do it because I have a philosophical. I just don't think trading up is a good idea. It never is. But we will we we've discussed this their windows at stake. Here Danny this is also the team that traded away Dwayne Brown. A thank you for that Houston, but we have different leadership there now. So so I don't know. I obviously I I'm on. I I know what you're saying. I mean, you got a couple of years left of Deschamp Watson's rookie contract getting him a guy on the left tackle -sition who could make a big impact in how they pass protect because he's been hidden incredible amount of times could have a huge could be a game changer form. So on one hand. I definitely understand what you're saying. But I think you still have to build around Watson multiple multiple spots. It's a it's not a one year thing. I don't think they're like one player away for being a Super Bowl team. So I would say no, I wouldn't do it. I'm just saying I think they're the team that would up to someone. That's all I was I would never get. Yeah. That's definitely sort of one of the main rumors. I now is that he still wants move up. So we'll see I personally just think moving up for anything. But quarterback is down. I'm with you. I trust me I'm wearing the same boat here. But you think that just independent of team and moving up, whatever do you think that Andre Diller Jona Williams and John Taylor all worthy of top ten picks? Yes. I I love Dillard, I think he's very very good pass protector. What Matt how to one Taylor? I think is. I don't know about top town. I think he's top fifteen that I liked this class in. They were making fun of me in the office history. Because shocker asked me, what do you love offensive lineman? I know that's, but that's the point. I'm not some parody of myself. I am not in this case. I like this class because it's a different. Version of first offense of Wyman. It's not niece traits monsters that you're going to teach how to play the position all these guys disorder degree are refined even Taylor who is imposing and physical in the type of guy you want. He knows what he's doing. When you watch him play against a guy like Josh Allen, or whoever it's like, oh that guy is can play like he knows how to be in front of people. It's not an Eric flour situation. And again, why would you link school and position? I think that's people are going to sit there and say, oh, you know, what happened to Eric flowers for so different? You're not saying I love the traits. I could teach him out of play these guys know how to play and at that position is it's more important than any other spot except quarterback EV written about this. So many discussions about practice time. All that stuff. You need so much work to learn how to play that spot because it's not based on natural -bility that I think those three guys are so attractive for that reason you can plug them in. They can be starters for you. And you can find. Reliable production at those spots that you can so rarely can't this point in the draft. And it wouldn't surprise me whatsoever. Maze. If NFL teams were thinking the exact same thing. And we talked about this before like what if there is a huge run on tackles early. So yeah, let's let with that. In mind. Let's move to our next question here. Yeah. Biggest riser in the first round with that run possibly happening. My answer is Cody Ford because if these three guys go in the top ten I still think you have teams in that back half of the first round middle of the first round that need that position if you're Miami. And you're trying to build an infrastructure for the quarterback you're taking next year. Don't you need to right tackle? I love Cody Ford to and he's a nice player. It's very different. He's harder. To study than a guy like Andrei Dillard's because you don't see him dropping back. You see bright kick steps not a lot of traditional pass protection stuff. So there's definitely more projection. It's that concern some teams have about. Versions of the spread offense. You don't see them do that type of stuff? They're going to be asked to do. But he's a good player. And it you'll Minnesota may be in that conversation. Even though I think big Bego more interior line than than tackle. But, you know, Miami if they won't want I think there are players at those spots that you absolutely could see even Lanta. I mean, if Madison there was some Rilo, and there's like we'd much rather have Cody Ford have similar it'll be a backup know he's making decent money. But I think there are teams in that range that could look at a guy like Ford if those top three guys are off the board. That's why he's my answer. Yeah. And I think you know, what I go back to like January late January. And February Cody Ford was in the top. I don't know what I can't remember off the top of my head. Exactly. But he was in the top thirteen like discussion a lot like he feels good in the pads man, look pets, the the combine I think like he kind of fell off people's radars a little bit. He wasn't outstanding as an athlete and combine it, and I think, you know, obviously, Dillard was a huge huge riser. So he kind of like took over. But I remember. I feel like I remember Cody Ford being in the top ten in some draft mock drafts and people are really really high on him. He's kind of definitely fallen off. So I buy that. I think he could you know, be a guy that teams really look at it as a mall or he can play to position or multiple positions. You could probably play with left Carter right guard. And right tackle, you know. I think he'd be good in several different types of schemes. So I I like him a lot. All right. Who's yours? I mean, it goes back to what we talked about early on. I think a lot of people have I think the first receiver coming off the board in like the twenties and a lot of cases or you know, potentially not having any first round picks for receiver position. I think there's a very outside chance. Hollywood Brown goes in the top half of the draft. Even potentially in the top ten. I mean, look at this. Let's do these are these are bold predictions. Yeah. It'd be clear we're having fun at this point. So I'm not I'm not saying, that's what's going to happen. But I think there's a slight chance that teams because I I really. Do think that the NFL values the rare explosive speed that he has. I mean, we talked about Ashley gave spread out especially as the game sprout. He's the perfect player for the way football is played right now. Yeah. And so I mean, obviously, this is terrible example what couple of years ago we had three top ten receivers. John Ross was what number five or something. Like that so eight. Yeah. Okay. Sorry, regardless like, that's a obviously that didn't turn out well for the Bengals. But like, I think the NFL highly highly values that goes nine then annoys me that there's like one of my superpowers is to figure out what does number numbness. Yeah. That's annoying. I'm sorry. There were two guys was was he the third receiver taken Corey Davis. Oh, yeah. In two thousand seventeen he was. But he I thought he was at eight. I'm embarrassing. Sorry. Oh, come on me. I know better than this. All right. Yes. So to me, he would be the guy that I think of that could go a lot higher than I think people are sort of the consensus projection is right now obviously with. Injury and everything in the weight thing people are I think being kind of conservative with him. But he's the kind of guy who when he goes in like, the if he went into the top fifteen everyone will well like, you know, like that is kind of like the crazy pick. It's such a fun pick, though, if you're the team that if you're if you root for that he picked him in the best mood you'd be like, yes. Because it's just such a cool thing to add to your offense number nine most shocking faller for me. I think it's came back after it's because we've had such a conversation about him with how he tested at the combine. But I just think with how limited his film is how few things we've actually seen him do some of the other stuff. I just feel like he's somebody that we used would we saw kind of mocked in the top ten right after the Columbine happened. And it wouldn't surprise me at all of the first round. So just pretty simple. I'm one hundred percent on board. In fact, another spoiler. He's not in my final mock draft. Wow. Look at you. We're on the patriot buddy. Yeah. And my surprising or shocking follower. Another guy. We talked about earlier shine, Gary. I think most I I it feels like to me the consensus is he's going to be a top fifteen seventeen pick. Not. Thank you. I what if like how shocking is it going to be if he just completely falls out. I don't think that'll happen. I think the trade through through good. That's what I'm saying. But I think like especially with the shoulder thing right now. Like, I wonder if that could push teams over time be like, okay, we're just going to go in a different direction. So he would be one guy who it would be pretty. It'd be pretty surprising. But I think just based on everything could could happen. I guess I'm with you. Okay. The last one here. What is the most bat shit insane thing that you either think could possibly happen or want to see happen? I love this category. You go first because. We've talked about this before the show. There's one scenario. I think they would just be really frigging fun. All right. So my scenario that I think is just would make the night the most possible it could be. Yeah. Is if collar Murray does not go number one. Yeah. So the cardinals picnic Bosa or whatever or Craig Williams, which would just be so dumb. But that's beside the point if that happens. I just think it opens the floodgates because I think. So many people in play for that pick. Because let's see if you're Miami. And you just think he is a franchise changing player, and you just never million years thought he was going to be available to and the cost of them won't pick so much more and everything else and Arizona's just sitting there kind of grasping it. If you think that he's the guy and suddenly he falls even a tiny bit. Maybe you're in play for maybe society feels that way. It just seems like and then the what would make us even more fun is if shit just got real weird and the raiders dress at Haskins and team team went for lock. I just think that absolute quarterback craziness in the top ten is what would make this draft memorable. And also. Yeah. And the crazy thing is like that doesn't feel too. Unreal. It's going to happen. It's going to be so great the the bat shit insane thing, I think that especially after listening to rumors and reports over the last week to me the craziest thing that could happen is is just have. Murray be the first pick and then have no other quarterbacks in the first round or like one other quarterback lame. I don't want that to happen. Why are you saying that? But I mean, like, there's always, you know, like, pre Jeff smokescreens and teams I guess are benefited by having all this misinformation everywhere what if like dente fell really just hates Daniel Jones or like really just can't buy into the drew lock stuff. Like what if there's only one or maybe two quarterbacks in the first round like how different? Here's the thing. That to me would be crazy because right now, we're talking about four in the first ten it ain't but NFL teams aren't fed smart. That's probably not going to having. All right. This was a blast. I'm very glad you did it. I cannot be more excited for tomorrow, and Kevin are and Roger gonna be doing some social video from the office here in LA. We'll be bringing you some live updates. We will be podcasting after the draft tomorrow. Please check all that out. And for now. Thank you guys so much, listen, I'll show podcast network.

I just found out just now that the draft was on Thursday. I some stuff to do. I guess stuff. Now, I'm excited about it. I'm ready to get it get it going and rather than trying to project to the chiefs are going to take. I'm ready to talk about the players that the chiefs have that's going to be talk Craig mistakenly jokingly half. Seriously, told us that the draft isn't a last about three hours a night at this was going to be about three hours, and it was just the picture perfect. It's just wishful thinking I wanna get in and out of that radio station. I'm happy to be on it. Let you wanna hang out with me and beak for more than three hours like what's up with that? That's great. If we're sitting around the table without microphones in our face. Yeah. Yeah. You're gonna it's gonna be really fun to watch you kind of experience the live radio thing because I'm so experienced at this point guys. But. Rare exotic ears just send Craig pictures videos of the pop the top and then pouring down the sake as Jameson so mad. I will be. Oh that kind of needs to happen now that would be really funny you're of. Yeah. So if you guys don't know me and Craig will be joining j being cly on six ten sports radio, and we are going to cover the entire first round. We are incredibly excited. Do it. It will be a lot of fine the schedule this week's kind of crazy, obviously, you're listening to the laboratory early it's on Monday. The draft show will be releasing Wednesday morning on Wednesday night slash Thursday morning. You'll be able to listen to aero head prides pre-draft show kind of getting you ready for the draft. And then the live coverage on Thursday. I believe win the chiefs make the selection, and we kinda spin the, you know, the rest of that show talking about it. You'll be able to find that conversation. On on the Earl had pride channel. Also, this is where it gets crazy. So not only do we have all of that going on. But then we're going to do a show on Friday night after the draft is over. We're going to do a show on Saturday after the traffic is over. So you're going to get our reactions in pod format for every day of the draft. And then on Sunday, we're back in the station me and Pete, and I think being clear barber someone we're all going to be reacting to the to the entire draft on Sunday. So you're going to get all kinds of podcast content at the pride channel. If you wanna give that thing five star review that would be great. If you appreciate all of the all the content you're about to get that would be wonderful would appreciate that. And also guys you still have a week to purchase the Casey draft guide you go to gum dot CO slash Casey draft. And you can get the Casey draft guide in preparation for. The biggest the draft missed week. I mean it is draft. Mrs upon us, fellas. So. I talking you need the guide. You don't want to be caught with your pants down. You gotta know who the chiefs to draft in when they do you can flip through it in the guide. See anything everything about that? We have this is gonna work from rounds one through around seven most likely than so many names in there so much work. Be prepared. Have your paints your belt, everything ready to the Casey draft guide provides for you? What are your paying have to do with anything? Explain now, don't notice. Okay. Don't explain. I don't think I wouldn't. So what we're what we're going to do today is we're going to break down by position the players that we think will be off the board at twenty nine and kind of debate some of the the key players the pivot players almost the swing players if you will that can kind of determine you know, what kind of players could be available for the chiefs. So we're gonna we're gonna go position by position kind of talk about that. Then we're gonna talk about babe may basically the pools of players that we think will be available at three key trade up spots. But we're going to start with the offense today. Fellas the locks. I think everybody has a pretty good feeling that before the cheese picket Twenty-nine Cuyler Murray, Dwayne Haskins and drew lock will be off the board. I think there's two parts to the swing player. And that's Daniel Jones. If Daniel Jones goes off the board at six like. Some people feel might be happening. Because reportedly according to Charles Robinson. He's very he's very heavily inting that the New York Giants have Daniel Jones QB one the quotas one team has Daniel Jones as their QB one. And you all know exactly who. It's so good. If if the run on quarterbacks starts with Daniel Jones at six then four QB's are going at it is going to be absolutely perfect for the chiefs, Craig. I mean, I feels like should should Daniel Jones actually, be lock in this list. Should there before I think in my mind, I think they're four quarterbacks going in the first round. Now. One of those four may happen at pick thirty just after the chiefs. If the Packers are interested in a guy to replace Aaron Rodgers going forward, they've put up some smoke signals about that. So I think that there's fairly securely for going in the first round. Like you said if the giants gamble early on Daniel Jones Blair that. I like I think Daniel Jones is good good quarterback. I think he's going to be fine in this league. But if they go with him early than yeah, there's going to be a run a rush to the podium to get to Haskins and lock. We might chaos if Dana Jones go six we might see a fifth quarterback sneak into the first round. Could you imagine high rejection Manhattan will Greer ill? Rear. Maybe maybe I don't know. But what do you lease? What do you think that my mind will be boiling if there's even consideration for a fifth quarterback this Davis Webb all over the game beginning that round one hype? And then he goes like mid around forever. Well, that was anticlimactic that's that fifth quarterback year. But I'm with you guys. I think Daniel Johns locking on the first round. And like, yeah, I think if he goes at six it's gonna throw a monkey wrench into the entire draft of what everybody thinks, but worst case scenario, he falls to seventeen and guess who picks. Again, the giants do whether or not they have QB one. They seem to like him a level. And even just the giants the word around the NFL is that just NFL teams enough. People have been in the NFL before we've been hearing from Jim Nagy's director of senior bowl this whole off season in teams like Daniel Jones more than media scouts than Twitter. Kouts do whether they talk to them whether it's because of his coach who his coaches were at Duke at not sure, but people in the NFL, according to people that have those real connections are have been in the NFL claim that the NFL likes him more than we do. So what you can't really keep arguing with it from where we stay in. I gained Jim Salak. He's a quality quarterback on his film. So if you're holding quarterback chances go around once we pretty high most us. I I I'm kind of leaning towards just making him a lock with this. I think for off the board. And I think they're all the board before a key point for the chiefs eighteenth pick. We'll talk more about that in a minute. Actually in several minutes. We're going to at the end of the show. He's got a lot to say. Exactly gust before then no Puertas made his six straight appearance on the show. Okay. The running back position. I don't think there's any locks to go in the first round. I think Josh Jacobs has a chance to do it. And I mean. I mean, the only thing is I think the only time that Josh Jacobs. His selection really comes into play for the chiefs is if they're saying at twenty nine what do you think he? Yeah. I don't think there's any chance that he's getting up ahead of Anna. Like, we're talking about these key points. I don't think he's gonna go and top twenty in this draft at best. You're looking it Oakland with one of their two twenty picks navy Philadelphia twenty five believe it is. But they just made that trade for Jordan Howard. So in reality. I don't think he's gonna be a first round pick. I don't think is production usage is going to match what everybody's looking for. But if he's the number one running back if eighteen really does like him later on thin, I made the guy is gonna be. I just can't see this point in time. He's not his usage. Production just wasn't enough in college for the NFL. Agreed. And then it falls off a major cliff after that, there's not anybody really pushing Josh Jacobs for running back one in this draft class. He's the guy and he's going to be. The guy, and then he's just going to, you know, then there's going to be a drop off for a little bit there. So he he may sit around for a little bit just because there's nobody really challenging him for that spot. And he's not so head and shoulders above you know, other running backs that we've seen come out recently. I genuinely hope that the raiders select Josh Jacobs. They're the team I could see doing that. Because they have so much capital, and Yod greed and seems like a guy that wants to commit to the rod game in my right? Makes sense given Craig's the picks in the simple fact that they don't really have anybody could be that bell cow. So pick make sense and more in a world where shop any could go around one. So I do suppose anything. I watched the draft the other day the shot. I love what I love rewatching drafts. I still like it. It's just it's it's the same reason that draft day the movies of thing is because there's just some level of I love anything about the draft process. Even if I know it's going to happen. And even if it's a terrible movie. I can't wait for Tarez. Charles Robinson to break down draft a movie like they said, they're going to that is going to be for me podcast breaking down drafts of us past not just break down the two thousand fourteen in Felder. Okay. Oh, let's not go that far sparky unless you wanna talk about the two thousand to two thousand seventeen draft. Okay. I don't watch them. This is all you. I would never watch draft. You're missing the point. You just don't get it, Mattie. Why did you see her? I think there's one lock in its decay Metcalf. I still think the spy all of this in all these all this buzz and all the stuff, I think decay Metcalf is going in the first round. I think kind of the critic. Swing players. I think you're looking at Hollywood Brown. I think you could I think AJ Brown could be an impact on the chiefs positioning at twenty nine maybe Nicole, Harry, I think it kind of just depends on how early the run starts on wide receivers. I think that's a big piece of this Batty, windy think the runaway receiver start he'll personally attacked that you would consider in. He'll Harry as an impact or swing player in this situation. And yet, you do not mention my son. In the same thing. Despite being a superior player. I knew this was going this way. But let's okay, I Mattie. I like I I'm a big fan of Akim Butler. Like, you, however is the NFL. Are we sure the NFL we hear people saying that like that Hakeem butlers? Bore of a a implant sixty one that he is at twenty nine for the show the NFL likes in Kiel Harry's run away from me. I heard I here's another nerdy thing about my pre-draft leak process. I listened to a lot of pre-draft press conferences across the NFL. I did. And I can't remember who it was maybe Steve KYW, which so take this for great assault kit. When you'd have a talk about your free time usage. It was in fact, reserva Detenu. Oh, okay. Okay. So Matty knows to Matty did the same thing. I did. That's that's verifiable. Fact, he's listening to all thirty two teams pre-draft press conferences, don't quote me on that. But it's definitely affect so Nicole hairy. I mean like I can't leagues. Draft. Thirty nine. Okay. Is that the first second round? No. But that's his draft range. I think Nicole Harry could be in play four picks beforehand filed before in no. Thirty three or worse. That's the way this is real very quickly where where does the run start, Mattie USA? Use oppose to let me just make comment about key Butler did move on. But instead you were trying to argue with me about in Kiel kit, separate from anybody, Harry and keep baller in. This is not gonna art the runs the start divisible deacon Medco's if decay Metcalf lasts later in the draft like some people are projecting if he gets to the late teens early twenties any team that his starting to get their site settled wide receiver, and that also means that more defensive players often linemen are going before you could see run late in the first round. You could see guys like that calf in Hollywood ground AJ Brown Akeem Butler Algo in the first round if half LASSO now, the differences Metcalf goes the top ten the run that you don't know where to start then teams aren't getting their hopes up for they're gonna give this receiver. They're not just missing out on decay Metcalf. They're gonna wait they're gonna play they're bored with whatever it's going to be. So I really think it's stuff like that does matter and the more receivers they go the more likely you are going to see more of. Continue to go. That's the draft works. It's done runs. It's not everybody. Just just leave a position alone. Third guy gets taken a lot of teams will reach their next guy up at that position. If that if that position was getting pretty lacking. I'm with mad on that entirely. But I need to touch on a couple of things here. First of all now, the Hickey Butler is met son. I have gone ahead and claimed at Oliver second of. Now. Now figuring out why you guys think that I'm some sort of wizard that has a lot of things on his plate. Because y'all just literally sit around and listen to other teams talk like. I spend the this is. Saturday Night Live by Saturday night. Yeah. No, I sit around doing life skills and a figured renaissance of that. Now, guys figured it out. I was just whittling a small bear for my child's bedroom. State fucks. No. But I think it really does hinge on on decay. I know we've heard a lot about Hollywood. I think Hollywood is going to maybe that second guy off the board that that does start the run. I think he's going to be the the the pivot point for the rest of these guys because after he's gone, then everybody's gonna jump like Matty said to try to get the next guy on their plate because. Yeah, there's going to be a run. I think so in some some people think Hollywood Brown's gonna wind up being the first receiver off the board. And and this is kinda I wanted to get to this next is just like Hollywood Brown. Feels like there's some strong connections Tarez has been running with Hollywood a lot lately, I think a couple of the people have jumped on that bandwagon as well. Okay. So Brett VH one of the guys that he wore Andy Reid out on was to Sean Jackson. And I think the probably the best confortably would Brown might be Sean Jackson. So you know guy that weighs under a hundred seventy. Hundred seventy pounds good route runner big play potential. I think this is the same kind of guy. So I could see that she's liking Hollywood Brown. I don't know. How would feel if the chiefs selected Hollywood Brown at twenty nine? I think I I'm terrified of a kid that weighs under a hundred seventy pounds. There's there's not very many comps for him. And he's coming off list Franck injury or Frank or front. I don't know. I'm I'm nervous about that. And I know I some people are less terrified of that. But I mean, the dude is small and he's coming off a injury that directly affects his wheels. He's he's just there's a number of things that are in line there. And yeah, he's a good player. You want just tape. He's dynamic he's fun to watch. But he's the guy that you main factor touches a little bit for because of his size. You don't want him getting lit up because he might break in half. And then. Yeah. Like Matty said, and you said he he's coming off of an injury that historically saps athleticism. And that's literally the biggest thing that he's got in the major thing that he's got for him going for him as an NFL player. So I would be very very hesitant to go and try and attack him even though he does have speed. He's good route runner has got pretty good hands. I mean there there's lots of reasons to like him. I just there's so many off field things there with his body that I would be very worried about. Let's take history lesson year. The Sean Jackson is the singular call for Hollywood grab. It's been successful. The only one the one guy do you know where the eagles drafted Sean Jackson, even though visually around second round pick forty nine. They did that after trading back twice in the first round. They didn't even take player in the first round. And the Shaw Jackson wasn't even their first pick in the draft. It was a guy named Trevor laws. So if we're going to go by the breeches worn Indiana Hollywood ground type player before that's fine. If you trade back twice in may nother pick before him. I can maybe get on board in see the upside that's there. But if we're talking picking him in the first round at twenty nine the risk will outweighs the reward that you get from Hollywood Brown when you consider the Russians already there in this whole wide receiver class as it is. Simple. We'll talk. Yeah. That was shortish. Congrats. TJ Hawkins soon. I think is the only lock I think the one player you keep an eye on is no offense. Let's talk about the tackles real quick to. I think there's four locks. I think Joe Williams John Taylor, Cody Ford and Andre Dillard are all locks. I think as a kind of swing player in this whole thing is their chance that Dalton ner sneaks in there, Maddie. I think is a lot for the first round. I think there's just something about how the NFL feels about him. I don't see it. I don't I know some people love him his foot work in just like his overall body control. Tackles scares the life out of the home of the planet may not be a tackle though. It may not be tackled. Oh, he maybe snuck him in. He has the ability to play center guard or tackle by the NFL. Loves his attitude is metality hell horny works. They like the trash talk high finishes plays. It's the kinda guy that the NFL does like a little bit more than people are looking for negatives. Not just positives. So for that reason do cruisers a lot to go in the first found IT at it's before big twenty nine though, you know, what I love Dalton ruse ner. I just absolutely love him high BJ. I think other guys that has a chance to to go off the board Yanni could used I think for a little while their teams were talking about him as a round one player. I think he could slip in as well. But I do agree that I think that Dalton has a real good shot. I think he is almost assuredly a lock as you know, the fifth tackle off the board in the first round. The only thing with juiced is how how injury affect his stock. And so like, I think that I could see a team maybe. He like at thirty one thirty two trying to get him. You know, because I do think he's a talented player. I claimed four or five going off the board for offense tackles, I mean, we're talking or five here. But if they go early you might see a team reach that you could see this is kind of the opposite of Risne, Irv just for basal. What we've heard going the NFL in teams question his physicality and is kinda demeanor all the field. I think that's something that offense of wine coaches in the NFL in particular, really do focus like I think you've seen X offense lineman on Twitter or coaches on Twitter of come out and said, hey, could use doesn't always play with fire or Tashin or physical. And then you watch like yet. But it doesn't matter. He's really good. But you see these guys connected to the NFL question that from him. So he's that's that. Plus, the injury of bumped down rice think you'll go not I think you should go. But where thank you go as fair. That's for. Okay. The interior offensive line. I think. No, I think Gary Bradbury is going to be gone before the chiefs have a chance to pick him a twenty nine which they gone. I want to do a podcast the if we take a deer off into Trump. It would be the most underwhelming selection. At least it's a good football player. But it's still the value would be absurd, and I would not be happy. And I think we've already talked about this. I think there's a chance I've seen a lot of Chris Lindstrom love lately. And also, I've seen some Eric McCoy love some people think Eric McCoy might be in that first round conversation to in this kind of thing if the run on interior offense of linemen starts early maybe the chiefs benefit from that, you know. Mattie. I don't I what do you think about Chris Lindstrom? I we're we're not nearly as high in him. I know what do you think about Chris Lindstrom? Why would a team want? Chris lindstrom. I think it would be the safety factor. The fact that Ed the versatility he has practice. He came out and said he is the told the practice. Snaps is practice taking snaps at the senior bowl. I think he was even doing it during the season of college. He's played tackle played guard played everywhere they thinking do everything he's a safer player. He's going to be good for zone scheme. He's a little bit lighter decently athletic. He works better on the move in ten of a power gap scheme. So thank you just provides a little bit of versatility. He's got solid technique. He's not a bad athlete. He could do a little bit of everything. I just don't know what he does. Good enough to garner a first round pick at as interior offense lineman. That's kind of my big hold up with him. So I think there's enough weaknesses in his ability to anchor or hold up against power and not enough strength to overcome that first round pick. We're gonna come back in talk about the defensive side of the football right after this. Hello. I'm Spencer hall from SP nation. And I want to tell you about my new show. It seemed smart. We'll see them. We're back with the defensive side of the football breaking down who we think will be gone almost assuredly by the time the cheese picket twenty nine and kind of talking about some of those swing players that could really impact who is available to the chiefs. And who's not I think the defensive side of the football is where there's just a lot up in the air. I think there's three locks guys. I think quitting Williams. Ed, Oliver Christian Wilkins are locks based on everything that we're hearing the swing players are. I think two of these guys very well could be locked for them to be gone before twenty nine. I'm not sure Jeffrey Simmons is gonna be available at twenty nine. I would against it. I think someone is going to love Jeffrey Simmons, and I think they're just going to not be able to pass up Jeffrey Simmons, Jerry Tillery. I think is a good chance. He's available. I don't think Dexter Lawrence is going to be gone either. Mattie. What do you think about that? I agree. Get your three definite locks. I actually think of your next group your swing three players. I think two of them are gonna go in the first round likely at least one if not both before twenty nine the hard part is just picking which one of those three because I have a path for each one of them still fall and decks Lawrence's definitely the guy that I'm the lowest on. So I think he's the first to get casts out. But at the same time, Vida Vega in the first round. You always have massive good athletes. They come around the NFL does like the they doesn't matter. If a game pass rush. They just cared their big athletic. They faked they could get the rush the passer. So I could see eighteen maybe it's probably not every team, but eighteen falling for Dexter more that way. So in reality, you got up to six interior defense of one of the top thirty two picks is many of them that we could get before pick twenty nine is probably the best for the chiefs. So let's hope that but. Say Simmons is probably my best guess on who will fall just because of the injury. That's the big thing. Now the character. She's but the injured the fact that you're gonna have to redshirt your first round pick, a do think matters a little bit. Q's going. My son is going and Christian Wilkins is is going as well the player. We're all kind of pivoting off of that. You want to go is Dexter Lawrence. I I mean, I know a lot of chiefs fans do really like Dexter Lawrence. I I liked extra Lawrence as well. I think he's very good player. I I wouldn't mind adding some more beef some worth lettuces them. But the chiefs loved Nadi Brit VJ goes out of his way to talk about him every single time. He steps to the podium. The chiefs have nose tackle that. They absolutely love already on the roster. And then they have save your Williams. You're not drafting a reserve nose tackle in round one a guy who doesn't offer very much in the way of pass rush. So that's a guy that you want as chief fan to go well before twenty nine because that means another player potentially is dropping the chiefs. There of those three swing impact players guys. I have a take. Oh, the diamond trade Jeffrey Simmons trade up for Jeffrey Simmons. I would do. I trade up to twenty one twenty. Many more rumors now that he's not going to be ready at all this year. Like as recently as last year. I. What week did that come out? I I know I know maybe that's just teams trying to get players to come down. But I mean, it really it's entirely medical checks. If you're getting him from any point of this year, he's an impact player. He's going to go that early. But I I don't know. I don't know trading up for an injured players rough. I he's just so good. I mean, he's easily one of the ten best clip players in this class. And that dude. He's he's special man. I honestly his story and the stuff that I mean, Mississippi State has given him awards and other. He's got an awards for his office service. Like all that kind of stuff all the character concerns. It's it. It was stuff from his past with a ton of nuance to I'm not trying to explain away. Everything he'll be the first to admit that he made a mistake. But I mean that dude is is a model citizen right now since his entire existence in college. So I'm a huge fan of his as a player of doing all the middle gymnastics for this right now because not lead this one so much. I you might have said it, but you did not like just come out and blatantly hit me with this beforehand. So I'm working through the entire process in my head right now, I've probably done as much more work on Jeffrey Simmons than most of people around because he was my position for the draft guide. I actually love Jeffrey Simmons last year when I saw the city state play. So I watched him over the summer multiple games. I watched live. I watched a post I research much as I couldn't do his background what he's done since being a Mississippi State all the community work that he does talking giving motivational speeches at schools in the area. He does seem like he's. Really turned around from the incident. I have zero concerns about the character issue. I don't think he's gonna relapse into the same thing. I don't think that's how he is people are gonna compared to the tyreek hill situation. I don't think it's even the same there. I think Jefferson's is actively very much out in front in public about what happened in ease willing to go out of his way to make other people better based on what he did rather than nothing til hasn't done that. But Terry kills still very much kind of a guy that stays a little bit more to himself. And he's not actively out there talking about an impulse to other people the motivate them as much so from that aspect don't care if I get into a room with a doctor that says he is gonna play by ten eleven even the playoffs. This would be something that I could absolutely stomach Aitchison to take a very bold GM to go. Make that move. Wonder who that could be? I don't know. You got to back it up. What's your defensive line rotation? Look like when you make this move, and they're all healthy. What is your general breaking outlays? I don't know. I don't care. I believe in Bill figure it out at the talent. But if you're the you're making this move, what is your plan? You gotta have a plan. You can't tell them. You don't have a plan. I haven't thought that far through okay? Frankly, I'll be Ruthie, humid. I'll be real issue. I just know that I don't have a I don't have a worry about them being able to figure it out. Let's just say that Chris Jones deep into that. I think about it. You got it. We've talked about this a lot like that's something that makes a lot of sense. But I'm taking rotationally. We're not talking fulltime there. Yeah. I'm just I just know that that dude is one of the ten best players in this class. He's disruptive. He's very talented. And he is a blue chip player and gave lex ability going forward for Chris Jones to it gives you we've talked about. I mean, we've talked about maybe moving Chris Jones to end a little bit. Maybe that's one of the ways that they figure this thing out. I just know that dude is one of the ten best players in this class and ED talk about cobbling together enough disruption to make this thing work. He definitely helps you solve that problem. And that's that's where my head would be figure it out this. That's the thing. I've maybe I should be giving more thought to just ole output figure it out, Chris Joe Christians, and I never going to argue with the person that says just draft talent and try to figure it out. I was wondering if you had a plan to be gene was trying to come up with the wash Steve talk as shoe, maybe you should have focused on who's plate of what percentage of snaps for something. Or learn life skills. I would like CS about at a so close or whatever. I mean, Craig teach me a lot of things. You we've them. Can we move to the position a lot to cover still? Berlanti shoots. Nick Boza is a lock Josh Allens. Lock. Rashawn Gerry Brian burns. Rashawn Gary are all locks either. Believe to go before twenty show. Gary twice, by the way. Yeah. That's. Area. I I think Montas sweat and Colin Farrell or the two guys that are going to be the most fascinating. I'm going to ask you guys this mask, you this Craig you haven't got a chance to talk much lately. Montana is on the board at twenty nine. How do you feel? I'm running to the board. I mean, if his heart is fine. Like if he's there at twenty nine his heart is probably worse than we're getting credit for but they didn't call him back in for combine reach X. They let him do all of the drills. I let them do all the position drills everything like that. They let him do it. So I just don't see how it's the same things marines Hearst. I'm running the board because he fits back Nilo perfectly. And he offers a little more speed and a raw lump of clay that they can mold into a guy and put out there and actually have a higher ceiling for somebody on the outside. So here's I don't really have a hold up. If tesla is there at pick twenty nine let's say in not training four. Yeah. You're gonna make the hard things figured out because it is probably a little bit of a red flag. But overall, he's exactly Craig said he fits the mold. He fits position of need. He would file righted probably be the best defensive end even right away. And I'm not even crazy high Montas wet. I think he's still got a little bit to learn as a pass rusher. And I'm not a super high ceiling there with him with that. But he's going to be a solid player for a long time. If you get that at pick twenty nine that fits what you're trying to do. I one hundred percent or stand it. Now, I will say this is we just came off of his Mississippi State brethren I would say Jeffrey Simmons over Mon sweat, even with the injury at twenty nine. I think he's a better player. I two, and you know, I think we're all kind of we're not as high on Monty's. What is I think the NFL is? But if twenty twenty six teams pass on Montas twit and it's twenty six because the raiders and the giants, right? Multiple picks. Twenty six teams pass on Montas sweat. I I don't know how I would feel about the cheese taking them like I just prototypes of big swing type thing. I mean, he he has more. Right. I understand. But the hard stuff like I even if he's there twenty six or whatever I'd be a little nervous. That's still feels like a big swing because a bunch of teams are worried about that heart. Okay. What do you think? What do you think that chances of one of Montesquieu or calling filler being available at twenty nine? Give me a percentage I'm going to say, I'm gonna say fifty percents. I'm gonna say that maybe the heart concern is a is a concern. And I'm gonna say I don't feel particularly confident that Colin Farrell's on the board at twenty nine. I'm gonna say fifty percent, Mattie. What are you going to say a little less of when ago thirty seven point nine two six percent? I do think that the heart tissue for sweat is a the big boobs here. Like what's going to have you just don't know what it's gonna go. Because if it's a MAURICE her situation, nobody do that was happening until it was happening. So that's the big old up. But if sweat is even just only off a couple boards on most teams. There's no way he's making it Indian riles is and I think clearly with Farrell's too good to make it that far. I'm gonna say eight point seven eight percent just drill really really low. I I don't think either one of them will be available. I'm with Matt I think maybe sweats off a couple teams boards, but not everybody's and it could be teams like the chiefs that are he's author boards for all. We know. So yeah, there's an eight point zero eight percent chance that Jalen. Ferguson has been selected by the time. The cheesecake eight point zero eight percent gone with eight point zero eight and I went eight seven eight what was I should have whatever months has Leslie. News that mast fan seven. It was seven point one seven four. He is isn't it? Film. I know does it and that's why we're not as high on this other people the linebacker position. There's not much to talk about here. Devon Bush, Devon white. Or basically, the only two linebackers in this entire class. And everybody else is getting taken on day three or should be taken on day. Three. Basically, maybe knock Wilson neck Wilson's good. But when do you guys just give me a guess real quick? When do you think the first linebackers taken off the board Craig if it's not five at Tampa? It's eleven Cincinnati. All right. You're gonna get Detroit Denver Cincinnati bet. One of those four teams that's picks. Eight to twelve in one of those teams at least one of those teams taking one linebacker. I will say this. I think that if the later the linebackers start the better off it is for the chiefs potentially because you know, that ten to twenty range like if the first linebacker doesn't go off the board till Devon white. And I I wonder if that actually helps the board kind of position like four quarterback for quarterbacks. Do go off in the top fifteen. And then you know, like like Ed Oliver is appropriately drafted in the top five ish. Six ish. If you know, Rashawn Gary goes in the top ten fifteen like, I could see potentially. Maybe the the linebackers being drafted late pushing a team that might have been more interested in taking a an edge position player. Maybe maybe one of those guys kind of falls letter because of that. So that's one thing. I'm keeping an eye on. Okay. The safety position. Chauncey Gardiner Johnson. I think is a lock I think that's it. I think Nasiri outerly Taylor app. Jonathan Abram may be in play because everybody's been hyping all three of these guys up like that their top twenty nine top thirty players. I don't know if I feel right now where we sit today great about any of those maybe Adderley, but I think what could happen is if the safety the first safety off the board goes early. Maybe that's what kind of starts swinging things. Mattie. When do you think the first safety goes off, the board made we're crossing our fingers for Carl Joseph life thing here. We will see somebody fly off the board with is earliest possible that nobody really thought about these with you. I think Chauncey garner Johnson's your best bet on the first round that I'm still thinking early twenties at the absolute earliest form Seattle seems like an obvious pick. But I think teams like Philadelphia or you're gonna be the makes even Oakland mid they tried to add some safeties. But when workers Joyner isn't a guy that can do everything safety. There's just there's options. And here's the thing. I think after you pass Chelsea Gardner Johnson. You got the next guys have listed with the seer Adderley table rap Jonathan Abram. I think they're all very role. Specifically, they are various guessing to one thing. They don't have much like flexibility to play in the slot or deep or in the box. Good at one thing or the other. And that's fine. They're good players at that. You can find other quality players at that. Same thing a little bit late. In the Strath. That's why haven't been super wild about going safety early in the drafts for the chiefs. So that's why the other guy I would even bring up. Here's Dr savage. Do think there's a chance that he is that your Lee or maybe by yearly surprise safety that creeps up the first round that nobody saw coming because I do think he has a little bit more versatility. And we've already seen. He's superb athlete. So that would be my only other guy even throw in the mix. I might throw in one third hill. Just the reasoning of being able to play safety corner. Kick down in the slot man, cover. Those are the type of guys I think maybe like I'm going to go on a little limb here and say that one Thornhill goes before Taylor rap and Jonathan Abram just because I think that's fair. I think he should probably I was just kind of speculate on what we've kind hurt the league or right? We we hear the league loves Taylor rap. We hear the league loves Jonathan abor. But in reality, the NFL is doing away with that type of player like that that type of guy that enforcer over the middle of the Kam chancellor type guy, you know, big hits over the middle blowing people up that guy doesn't really survive in today's NFL all that much anymore. And that's that's a little now Abrahams. Not just that wraps not just that. But that's kind of where people view them a little bit. So I I don't think that they're going to go necessarily as high as some think so. Yeah. Chauncey at twenty one. And then you're hoping that maybe a team really falls in love this year Adderley, and he can kind of. Push them other players that the chiefs like down a little further. I think the, you know, the earliest the early the safety comes off the better. So, you know, if if a safety goes in the teen somewhere, I think that actually could really help the chiefs and kinda put them in a situation where maybe a run starts on safeties in guy start paying their saying guy. Go get Adderley. We gotta get. We gotta get whoever. We'll see where we're we'll see where Thornhill because like, I agree. Like, I like Thornhill better than you know, I like him better than rap. I like him better than than Abram too. So it's just Bursa Tilleke. That's that's cover skills. I he's warmer corner. Yeah. Sean, shall we move. Taylor rap to our linebacker group or keep him at safety. I we're close that was. A little bit about that. As as as bad as the linebacker classes. Oh, man, baby. That is linebacker three. He'd be pushing Mak Wilson for that for certain. I can tell you a whole lot about running a slow forty and play in box eighth. I just baby. Maybe like maybe Jonathan Abram Taylor rapper or linebackers in this class. There's he can lose what he's doing. But he can look if you could just switch either Abram speeded size or wraps covers though like you would have a great safety. It would be worthy of around one pick. Just unfortunately, Abram can't see anything in Taylor rap as like the safety version of Jalen, Ferguson. Others. You little Jalen Ferguson's, Sean. Slander there. That was nice file position. The cornerback position. This is going to be Mattie has been riding this trade sits probably like November, not quite November. But close we've been talking about this quarterback class as we've gotten into this cornerback class and looked at it. He keeps saying I want I want to give you a chance to talk about. 'cause I'm not sure we've actually talked about on the show. Quarterbacks go off the border earlier. Even if the quarterback class isn't good like there's like a lot of talk that you know, the Cornerbacks are going to go off the board early. They're gonna go off earlier than their think. Even though we look at it. And we say I think there's one lock right now, greedy Williams or Byron Murphy is a lock. And then the other one is a fringe player. You may want to throw in guys like Shaun bunting. You know, maybe de'andre Baker guys. Like that are fringe kinda swing players is this going to be a year where it's an anomaly at the cornerback position after we've talked through all this, Mattie. What do you think where we at kind of explain some of your your thought process to this whole thing? No, it is not going to be the Lear. It just doesn't happen. As NFL goes more in more towards a passing league coverage becomes more and more important. I think all these analytical websites, whether you would use pro football, focus or anybody else that charts advanced that will come out until you their number say coverage matters more than anything else on defense. Now, it simply the way it is in the NFL his treated it as such quarterbacks get more money than they used to have quite caught up to edge players, but they're closing the gap or any pass rushers quarterbacks are getting drafted as high as defensive ends Astros. Look just last year, but Dinsdale war getting taken over Bradley Chubb at how many people how some people ripped the Browns for it. But then you had nother faction it came out and said this is the right move with the play came out both of having tastic reveres. I don't think Cleveland has in second thoughts about taking the equally rated quarter over the equally rated pass Russia that just it is important in the NFL into. As day age. So with that said quarters are not going to have just one corner in the first round. I know that's all we wanna put their because we want quarters the fall of the chiefs, but someone's gonna take a chance on greedy Williams, who is a picture perfect of athletic profile cornerback you want. He's got all the skills traits that you're looking for even if he can't tackle doesn't wanna tackle. He doesn't add it. He's gonna cover guys. Byron Murphy has great tape. Rocky soon has great character traits to work with a mighty warrior so on so on so on these guys have things you can work with. And when it's something that you can work with and a position that matters so much the NFL now, you don't wait. Okay. But Matty, my questions specifically for you is do you think that to are off the board before they chiefs picket twenty nine I want to know that answer. That's a tough one. You're gonna say, yes. But I don't think it's greedy Williams environmental. I think it someone. I think I think that rocky sin more money or you warrior, a ends up going before greedy or by Murphy likely by her fix. I really do think the Greenwood earlier than people think I think Byron Murphy is going to be the third or fourth corner. Taken for one of those other guys. Okay. So here's I'm going to audible creeks. I want to ask both of you answer. This. I wanna ask Maddie. I would you sacrifice a run on quarterbacks to ensure that let's say clone feral can be traded up for it. Twenty one. I would rather have Byron Murphy or greedy Williams at twenty nine trading up the barrel twenty one okay Craig same question. Could you if you could you sacrifice all these guys just so that you could trade up for Colin Farrell? No. And I'm also the type of person I team edge. Like, I think that the chiefs need to add an edge. I've been pretty strong in that even though I remember he's my dude I want the chiefs to draft him a really do he'd be my favorite pick. But I just I don't want the chiefs to sacrifice all these guys. And part of that is I if you afford me a moment here, I asked the question of you guys earlier today, I was looking at about the top eleven corners there, and we were talking about how all of these guys have basically gotten some sort of early round to buzz at some point in the process Shaw. Bunting is the bottom of that group right now. And I was asking you guys who on that list. Would you be like seriously upset or shocked if they went in round one and Lonnie Johnson was really the guy that that we kinda all agreed just because his tape is pretty poor. But I mean, I just don't think that the the gap between a lot of these guys is so large that that that the chiefs want to be sacrificing a bunch of them because if they sacrifice a bunch of them a sacrifice a run on him. So that they can trade up for an edge. That means that they don't have any when it gets back around around too. Because all these guys if they all at one point have round to buzz that means you're missing out on them. If you have a run, Raymond the first round. And right. I would almost rather. If there was a run on 'em taking even all the way down. Down to Sean bunting at that point at twenty nine which I know chiefs fans are going to turn their nose up at a little bit. But I I would I would much rather have a situation like that than risking missing out on one. I guess. Yeah. And I think like where we have Sean bunting ranked in the Casey draft guide might surprise people that we'd probably be okay with a guy like bunting. It's mostly. I think there's just a good ceiling to end these great athletic profile a willing to actor. He's a physical player who's best. Football's ahead of him. So he just may not be as close to his, you know, ability to to contribute at a high level right away. But here's one thing. I've kind of you know, I I don't know if I've said this on the pod. Or if I if I've not I don't know sometimes I think the process lead some players to more rapid, accelerated growth in their developmental process. I think some guys that you know, are finally exposed to good nutrition. Good coaching, the mental side of things all these things and just extra time to grow. I think some guys just grow up quicker through it. Sean bunting might be one of those guys where the process. Has been very good to him and very helpful to him in his development. Right. 'cause I don't know if he's been playing cornerback for too long anyways. So you've got a great athletic profile. And yeah, his tape. We we had like a thirty. Do we have a third around? Great. Yeah. We do. Yeah. On buddy, right? Have been higher on them to anyway. But you look at those kind of guys like buntings the kinda guy that the tape. You saw in November December he might have made a huge jump in the last four months, and I will. And he's one of those guys that the process could benefit right? And I will say this of players tier one athletic testing quarterback players. The thing that Casey grabbed draft gut. There have only been two players since twenty ten that were tier one testers taken the first round that were not first team pro bowlers only to one of them is Gary and Conley. Like, it might just matter of time for him. The other one is Bradley Roby who has been a very good player for a long time. I mean at both those guys are still good price. So of those guys if you're looking at shown bunting at twenty nine history would tell you that. You've got a good shot in the past decade. You've got a good shot of getting a player that could be a very good player. Sure. And I think the path to him being a good player is not hard to see you. And like, I think that's you know, I kind of just turned into talking yourselves, Sean, but it's not gonna be that hard for his even if the grade says it there's there's a lot in there. Right. And. The athlete. Profile is very real. Sorry, go Mattie, greater stuff on the highest. Look Sean bunting ended less five corners off the board of the first round. I don't think I would wanna take him at twenty nine. I'm probably the one that wants to take him at twenty nine the lease. Because like Craig was talking about earlier, I think that gap between even budding and somebody that you'll get a gig at sixty one sixty three is so minimal even if you wanna go down to what we're gonna call our third group of quarters, Julian loves, David logs, guys like that. I just think they're close enough the shot bunting that I would rather not take him it into the first round. And would rather wait to the end of the second. See if somebody like, Joe, Walsh Williams, falls, something like that. It just on the grades being funny. I probably has been the woman's been the most anti de'andre Baker this whole time. But we don't talk about enough of this podcast anymore. Users chantey goes in the first round as well. Even if we don't like him that much, but I also granted him the highest at I won't the lease to do with him out of anybody on the out of this group too. So. Funny. Weird how that works? Well, and I think, you know, the Sean bunching path to being comfortable with that is if the run happens, right? And so you're not as confident that when you get around to sixty one you're gonna get someone that you're throw rat. Right. That's where I think that's kind of those of the past talking. You're talking me into Sean bunting, honestly. But we grew. So okay. We are going to come back after this break talk about some trait up scenarios, we think will be available at some pretty key spots when it comes to trade ups right after this. So we wanted to talk a little bit and kind of closed. This thing out talking about some key trade up areas, and who we think might be available in those spots. So I'm just going to list these all out real quick. And then I'm gonna let Matty Craig, and then I'll kind of close out and give our opinions on what we would do what we think of these. So we kind of came to the conclusion we think, you know, people that could be available at eighteen where the chiefs could use their second round pick. That's even value on the trade shirt that you can find the Casey draft guide. A second round pick gets you about eighteen so clone fail the edge from Clemson. Byron Murphy, the cornerback from Washington. Simmons from from Mississippi State Montas sweat from Mississippi swit- state, Gary bradberry from from North Carolina State the interior offensive linemen Chauncey Gardiner Johnson. I think that's your pool. Eighteen at twenty one. We restrict it down. We would still guess Colin. Farrell Simmons Murphy. Chauncey garner Johnson's still available at twenty one. Your third round pick gets you to twenty one at twenty nine. We think it Simmons. We think it's Tillery Jerry Tillery the interior defensive linemen from Notre Dame. We think a guy like Imani are Awari as a guy that could be play there a guy like Justin lane, the cornerback from Michigan state or rock. Yes. In from from from temples a lot of those kind of fringe round one round two corners in some people's eyes, Mattie with all this information that you have here. What decision are you making? Work it in order, if I'm sitting there looking at pick eighteen with those guys available of not giving up a second round pick out like that pool of players enough that I think somebody will slide down without Mike ward side, put no fought into giving up a second round pick to go eighteen pick twenty would I still have three guys clearly Farrell Jefferson's. Byron Murphy, I'll like were eight picks away douse was getting a little dicey have three guys super high left. I think I would still let it ride at this point. If I felt through the chiefs that one of them would slip the twenty nine so I'd probably still let it rule, and we got the pick twenty nine Jeffrey sevens was the last of those three. That's why would end up here. The scenario. Don't hindsight. From this position though. I would trade up by third round pick to go to twenty one and take Cleland Farrell or by adversity at probably flip a coin these I love both of them pretty much equally. I think I've lied. Murphy coverage is a little bit more important. But with all three of them there at pick twenty one. I don't know if I would make the move in real time without. Knowing that they're coming off the board for share Brit, peach talks, a lot about the pockets in the draft and looking at the pockets, maybe the pockets of value there at eighteen you can look at that. And say, oh, I don't need to give up a top, you know, sixty five asset in order to find a guy if I can wait and give up, you know, pick number ninety two to try and catch one of these dudes in this pocket of value. But like Matt said at twenty one if you had four guys there that you conceivably thought was a good fit for you. And you had to wait another eight picks. Now, I'm making that move up on draft in one of those four guys, I'm probably taken Byron Murphy as well. Even though I think the Cleveland furrow would be a major asset on this team. This team just doesn't have any Cornerbacks on this roster really worth a whole lot after this year. So I said earlier I'd trade up for Jeffrey Simmons, I trade up for clone. Fair. No more. I think in this scenario. I'd give up my third around pig for clone. Farrell. I love the player. I think he's also one of the ten best players in this entire class. I know his testing has limited his opportunity or his lack of testing is kind of kind of kept a veil over over some of you know, some teams opinions potentially on and that might be wise falling, but he's a fantastic interview. High character player he's got the the prototypical size, and I think he's one of the ten best players in this class too. So I think I would move up four clo- Farrell knowing that I'm gonna be able to get his productivity for an entire season. I do it for Simmons to I think about with Simmons too. I like both of those players a lot. I like Byron to like this is a tough spot. I like all the players that are available at twenty one. I'd be thrilled. If the cheese could pull it off. And the reason I say twenty one is because the Seattle Seahawks want more assets. They are clearly don't they only have four in this class. So you could give them an extra. A third to move back to twenty nine. I think the Seahawks in the ravens are very much in play to trade up. So those are two spots. I'm keeping an eye on. But I'd move up for clone. Feral I might have to be more aggressive again in the second round. With those two second round picks to try to get a cornerback. And ensure I think you could do the, you know, the same way that the chiefs did that Cincinnati Bengals where with the Bengals where they took. They traded two picks to move up and move back with both of them. I think that she's could do that very easily to you could kind of turn it into like a the fiftieth pick in the draft. Just take whatever cornerback is available there like fifty. So that's that's what I would do. Guys. We will talk to you after the we'll talk to you at the draft show on Wednesday. There's going to be a lot of coverage this next few days this entire week. You're going to be able to find so much on the pride podcast network.
