Where's emotions on the when we call them we used to call them live on a, you know, NFL network. And if they were in the Super Bowl city, we bring out of the set, and, you know, at the press conference he'd be there will wasn't in the Super Bowl, so we call him at his home. And we put him on speakerphone. And I thought I dialed a fax machine because it was a square with number. But that it was him crying. But then when he comes canton, you know, for his enshrinement ceremony, he's backstage with me, and, you know, this is get the front steps of the hall of fame walks. He's walking toward he's got this big grocery bag with something in it. And I said, Tommy oh, it's surprises. I don't like surprises. Don't surprise, please nonetheless, he goes out there with grocery bag and one of his term to step to the podium. He pulls out of his grocery bag, a big, boom box, and he puts it on the podium, a his play the BG's and staying alive to which he starts dancing to stage paying. I'm staying alive on, you know. And he says the crowd is no I've been said, I've got great hands. So he picks up his bronze bust, which weighs about thirty pounds. Throws it up and catches it does that twice. And each time he goes, my heart in my mouth. So he then proceeds to think he's going to chess Bom the rest of his classmates and going down. The line chess pooping with everybody, Mike, single Terry, it, the Anthony Munos, you know, six seven times five foot nine Anthony's chest is a lot higher. And when he bumped Anthony's waste. He flies backwards lands on his rear end. So that was Comey McDonald's show, and then he comes back stage and says, what did you think Tommy, first time you through the bust? I said a prayer that you would catch. It second time I said a prayer that it landed on your hit. He understood humor, so it was okay, but yeah, he was he was. I would call him a character, but a loving character the guy had nothing but appreciation for the game. And he just loved it. They have fun. And Lamar hunt was sitting in the front row. "One so on. So that means we're down to one nine one one hundred and ninety seven individuals have access to this year. How do you get it? All you gotta do is bring three local receipts from your holiday shopping, your Christmas shopping, bring them up to the chamber of commerce on the square square and the hook yet shirt for your shirt gets you have to choose. There's a decision to make you can either do green or red. But you make that decision. And then you wear the shirt and your team, Manchester and. That's that's a great way to encourage folks to shop local. Yeah, I think it's it's twofold, we want to encourage more folks to shop local award for people who always make that cognizant decisions major award. That's right. So it's not even Fred she links. Right. So thank you. For shopping local like that not everyone is like, my wife and takes pictures at each place. She goes. But this is a this is a good way to say thank you for people that do that. We have a great small business economy here. And this is just kind of a thank you to people that support that I liked that very good. So we had a one of your counterparts. Bill Nichols was here last week who is the new vice mayor, and you're in the outgoing vice mayor. Yeah. Tell us about being vice mayor what it was like how long you were vice mayor and tell us about that. So in two thousand and twelve I was elected to my second term as alderman, and that was also the year that Lonnie Norman was elected back to mayor. He'd been mayor in the early nineties. And he asked if I'd be interested in being vice mayor. I honestly never thought about it. But yeah, took that role on in two thousand twelve after the election. And it was neat because early on with you, you have an outgoing administration, quite frankly, if you if you think back to those times it for me seems like a hundred years ago, but. We had basically complete turnover on the board of mayor and aldermen. There was only one that that particular year pushed the elections out to even the cycles, and we elected five seats that year. Only one alderman's seat safe everybody else's up for reelection. How about that? Yeah. I guess I don't recall it that. So after out of the five we have three brand new ordering that were like today. Myself. I was reelected. So I started to serve as vice mayor, and it was kind of a unique role. Because when I sit down and ask you what what's the expectation of the vice mayor, honestly because there's not a lot. There's not a lot lot of added task person. Bill nichols. Didn't know what the big dunes were. Yeah. We'll find out. We're going to be times where he's asked to sign Rickles. And if you're like me, I read every wreck requisition assigned, and I wanted to know what boat. It was attached to do and Bill is a is a diligent guy. So he will be doing those things. But, but, but I think the biggest part of being a vice mayor is discounted the philosophy of how you approach your local government because I believe that when you elect someone that you basically elect their agenda, and the mayor being elected as mayor he puts out an agenda. This is what I wanna do. And I may or may not support all of that. It doesn't matter though, if you're the vast mayor, you gotta kind of at least uphold the integrity of their agenda. Okay. But that'd be insane. I mean, I don't mean to say that we had these background battles. Everything's that's not. That's not at all. But it, you know, there was a level of responsibility there that you got to kind of work with the mayor will close. Now, I will say this you. I did. I've made the motion actually to to accept the slate of nominees that included Bill Nichols is mayor. I'm kind of proud of that because it was kinda like a passion the torch on. I also feel that once that happened. Again, don't mean, this this could go without voice, but I almost feel a little liberated again like I just don't want to in the meetings. I don't know. I haven't gotten to that point yet. It is a little different. I'm going to focus on a few things that I'm really focused carrying your own torch, not carrying someone else's too. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And I don't mean to be like, I was suppressed anyway, it wasn't. Because clearly I've always been pretty vocal person. How I feel about things. But, but yeah, I kind of feel like I'm pretty involved in a couple of things for the city. And I think that really now I can kind of narrow my focus on getting those things accomplished. We got some really big things coming up as a community things that you wouldn't think about things that aren't necessarily sexy things that we have to really look at. And we're in really good position to take those things on now. And that's I'm proud of that because two years back we we were in a position to do that. And we've kind of developed that situation. What do you think are the big things? Well, okay. So I said that they weren't sexy garbage is one and Bill spoke about garbage in. This is an Bill six years is that right? Where we send our trash will be full. They'll take no more, and I'll say the projection, and I'll say being in politics. I think it's all political too. Because there's a lot of contract's up for renewal in January trashes political. Well, so the receiver of the trash Rutherford county when they say, hey, you know. Yeah, we told you it was going to be anywhere from ten to twelve now. It'd be sick. I see a little bit of an inflated price there. Okay. So nonetheless with it's six years or ten years, we're still on a very narrow window. That's that's something. We have to address postsecondary education with governor Li coming into office, one of the things he ran on was, you know. Trade school that the T cap programs. We have one here now. But it's all a five year pilot, and we have to as community make an investment into the one of those programs. So that those are really two big issues that we have. And I think that also we as a community now we are in a position to make investments into certain areas on different criteria. So investments as far as you think we need to be planning a little longer range. Sure. Yeah. And and that's always that's always the preference. You always wanna be thinking ahead. But sometimes you just gotta kinda get your your chickens in the nest. Oh, sure fires to put out over. Yeah. That's when I was elected in two thousand two thousand I was twenty two and turning. Are you the youngest alderman, you're aware? We've had I was the youngest to fulfil full-term. And I was the. Longest I'm still young too. I was pretty naive. A run at the where are you twenty one when you're in or? That was kind of the story. Twenty one. Oh my gosh. I think of myself. At twenty one. I could never now I've always kind of been an old man at heart. I guess my Granddad. My late grandfather, Paul HOGAN was a county Commissioner for years, but beyond that he was also just completely dedicated to his community. You know, he started Hickerson station. Volunteer fire department. He was a reserve sheriff's office for several years was a court officer later in his life. The man was just given to us community. They on the other side, my grandfather French who still alive and kicking on top of powers road there. Still making waves, by the way. He you know, he worked out at the base. But as a branch manager at the time when he was there was kind of in this very unique situation where they integrate the workforce and people don't think about that today. But how that happened and how my grandfather actually utilize relationships with mayor Norman to help create that atmosphere and integrate the workforce out there was critical in that. And there's a political element to that. And so I was always kind of this public service was taught my house. And that's what you gotta do. You gotta find a way to give back somehow doesn't necessarily have to be alderman, but people that are involved in or the young businessmen's association or the. Kind of a philosophy from both sides of your family get up and work for work for your community. What are you doing for your community? And I told you off air, you know, still kind of it's still kind of surreal that my brother is a police officer. But it's kind of the same that same fabric is kind of driving him to that. He also served in Iraq with to the national guard. And so we took two different paths of service. But both of them were fueled by the need to serve or the feeling that we need to serve. And so here we are. You know, all these years later, it feels like all these years later. He's thirty I'm thirty three. But we are in a situation where we have found service is. And what I think is neat now is at my my kids, particularly I mean, Colton ten years old. Billing Dale sixteen years old Thomas is five years old, but particularly Colton commerce. They don't remember a time that I wasn't serving. So, you know. But it. Yeah. Issues that are ran on rely. I thought we need to bring the free fare back. Walks has always been a big push that was on the fan. Being in a school zone. I'm a I'm a huge proponent anytime. Anyone to ever come to me and said would you write a letter for us to get this grant for the sidewalks? Yes, I'll send it immediately. Who do I dress the tutor? Well, my goodness. These are my neighbors right here in. But. Yeah, I mean, I was lucky though, because being so naive and young and really not having a complete grasp of what it meant to be an alderman. I was actually able to dive in with this unbiased view of things and kind of helped create my own path is an elected official, and that's taken me to some places that I didn't think I would ever go to and have passions that I didn't think I would ever have one of those being tourism Tampa. I have to give credit a lot of credit to mayor superstar. You know, she was a very motherly figure to me. But I got elected. It was kind of you know, you say, thanks to your mom. You shouldn't say grown up. And I've I've. Superstar clearly had some differences of opinion on some things. But she was all she always took her time with me, and was always very open to sitting down at talking to me and talking things through and she understood that I was very very wet pioneers and wanted to be helpful. But she wanted to be helpful. And so I told her I said, I really want to be on the committee the first year I served I was on public works which was perfect because the sidewalk issue. Become even more involved in that then told us I really really want serve no other than public works. I want to be involved in another committee tourism. I didn't think it was. I thought it was kind of placate. Here's another meeting. Oh, but I got all the tourism, folks. Carol Russell and fills Dick's Barbara served for several years, and in those ladies really kind of took me under their wings. Well. On this kid is trying to push this. Let's do do do, and I learned a lot. And so it was I wouldn't have it any other way. I think the way it worked out a build relationships with those people and have a respect for the way things were to the transition of the way things are. I have a lot of people to think for that. I think I think mayor superstar kind of had a vision for tourism in particular and felt like I could fit that mold. And I'm proud of what we've accomplished there. And I look back all those days of me, go the mayor's office, and please put me on something. Let me let me do something. And of course, everybody gets elected. They wanna be on safety or they won't be able to find it. And you know. So I took the tourism tortured. We ran with it. We've we've accomplished a lot of things particularly in the last six seven years when we come back from break. Let's talk about some of the things tourism has accomplished..

"Welcome to the show. Hey, Dan, Hickerson, kellyn. Good. Hey. So I I have to take issue something you said before the break. All right. I don't think the metoo movement has been good or productive at all. Actually, I I think that it has hurt. People cavenaugh comes to mind and another thing that comes to mind is I am scared to date anybody. Are they scared? Well, maybe I don't know. Like Matt Lauer and Bill O'Reilly, and guys it had power that we're like trying to force their assistance to you know, our subordinates or even co workers to have sex with them. I mean, I'm I'm glad that that has been exposed. Okay. I will concede that. So yes, there has been productive where it needed to be productive. But many but much like many things like the. It's taken way out of control. Take control. Okay. Right. People's lives. Quick thought if you don't mind, why are you free to date anybody because I'm afraid if if if the bad break up if something like that I'm going to get accused of sexual assault or something, and you're not gonna have a witness every time, you're alone together somewhere. Exactly, it'd be my word versus her. Hashtag metoo comes at me. I'm not I'm not I'm not Cavanaugh. I don't have a lot of money for a great lawyer. You know what? I mean. It's fascinating. Let me tell you it because I think for every false allegation out there. There are ten rapes or one hundred rapes her thousand rapes that go on reported, and and and that's a crime how many sex assaults there are where where people don't come forward. And I don't criticize him for that. I know how frightening. It must be on the other hand there are false allegations are false allegations. And I don't do criminal work. I'm a civil lawyer. But when I was four five years out of law school this kid came in my office one day. Let Tino kid I from his family to ever go to college and he'd been arrested he'd been arrested at gunpoint in his dorm room and charged with raping the daughter of a very prominent Indonesian leader. And he's like man, this was purely consensual. I don't even do criminal defense. He says I want you saw Representative for free long story. Short completely innocent completely innocent. We're really lucky to find a janitor who had broken a Bill for him late at night. So he could buy a condom and go. So anyway, we proved that this was completely consensual and the DA very much to his credit Trump the charge, but my only point is the false allegations can be absolutely devastating. And since you don't normally have witnesses in these circumstances. I can't tell Kellen he's crazy. I mean, it's this one says Krista this text to to you. And to me says metoo movement is trying to locate the fan operator was in the Monroe shoot because miss Monroe appear surprise. Is if she did not give permission for dress to be blown up. You know, she's an actress she can act surprised, certainly. But yeah, I I think that there's always a chance that things can go too far think by and large me has been a good thing. But now it needs to. It it. It shouldn't go too far in the case of accusing people who who haven't done anything used as a political weapon in the case of cavenaugh. But I am glad that it exposed powerful people doing bad things and has changed some of those norms to allow women to be able to work with men and not fear that they will be expected to do things. They don't wanna do. Yeah. And the thing though, that again, drives me crazy is is that the left exempts the left, you know, Michael Hancock. 'cause we agree. I think we agree if that had been a conservative mayor he would have been driven out of office. Crecy happens on both sides. Wow. I give me give me a similar example Donald Trump in in. What's that multiple accusations of a sexual impropriety fast condemnation from the right vast, right because the alternative was so bad. But my handcock also got admonished by the left, but he stayed in power for the same reasons that Trump stayed in power. Tell me about when when John Hickenlooper condemn Michael handcock? I must have missed that one. I can look it up it weighed never happened to you. You can look for the rest of your life. You'll never find it. Well, I think they were people who people can condemn in public and private, but the fact that these men are still around shows that powerful people can get away with things my only point is is respectful disagreement on the relativity, it isn't. I mean, there was widespread condemnation of Trump from the highest levels on the right in the middle of a campaign. Michael Hancock show me. There were a couple little squeaky voices at brave voices. But show me the left coming down on Michael Hancock. No, it's not the same. Well, it's not the same. Because there's a lot more power on one side than the other. But what do you mean, a mayor of a mid sized city versus a president of the world's most powerful Denver Colorado in the middle of the metoo movement. Give me. Sex that he sent we're really inappropriate and wrong. And I'm glad that that he was he was discovered. But in the end, I think that people tend to let their own team off the hook. But it is not the same on both sides Republicans across the board came down hard on appreciate. It's it's not bad Christie. You're knowing the truth here, but can't wait till Monday. Jesse thomas? Great.

"All right so it's really all you have to do is look at the statute and whether in with intent or not intent it reads the statue will read with intent and if it's left off then the assumption is that you don't have to have intent it is simply a crime in and of itself much like if you take if you're driving and you just pop into pilot people and you're having any intent to kill people they implied intent is put in there so i think his argument is that is correct two for two two for two by god you want to do another quick one well depends you wanna do it and then do we have enough to okay all right so this woman deborah hickerson is a passenger on a yamaha wave runner one of these watercraft like jet so yeah yeah right and she falls off and she falls off the back and the jet coming out of it this is a little delicate but it's medical it goes up in her and causes a lot of internal injuries so she sues yamaha now yamaha's she says you're you're you're wave runner is defective etc yamahas defense is this lady on the wave runner itself as well as in the owners manual are explicit warnings that you must wear protective clothing that severe injuries can occur if water is forced into your body cavities result of falling in the water or berry being near the jet and they specifically say you have to wear a wet suit bottom when you ride this thing also no more than three people should ever be on it at a time nobody under sixteen should operate it and don't be on it if your gluck gluck gluck she was wearing only a bikini there were four people on it and the person driving it was a ten year old but she gets into court and the court has to decide if she has a case okay well if she were to have a case then those jetskis are out of business that's it you can't manufacturer jetski because the the the way it works is the water shoots out the back and if you fall off you're in trouble and they gave you all the they not only d are you an idiot if you haven't figured that out on your own right jet skis you get on it goes forward and back it.
