"Would bring them to faith. And for those who are within the hearing of these words that have faith, I pray that you have built them up in faith. And all things, I pray that you are glorified and that you are honored that you are praised and proclaimed and that she would do these things either through me or in spite of me. And this I pray in Jesus name. This is a passage about signs and one of the funny things or I think curious things to me about signs is that signs are only ever signs to people who already believe. How oftentimes we as Christians have talked about the signs of God, we've talked about it in Sunday school at different times and things along those lines. You know, how God shows us, you know, who he is and that he is, he is real. We see it in nature and the design that is found in nature. I actually want the TV shows that Denise and I like to watch. They mentioned the Fibonacci sequence. And that's kind of one of those again, that signs in nature that God says, look, here's my thumbprint. You know, I'm doing something. The regularity that you see that mathematical sequence showing up and the gold ratio that is made from that. And if you don't know what that is, ask me, because it's kind of a fun thing to talk about. But the design is found in nature. The Old Testament prophecies that are fulfilled. In Christ. And for thousands and hundreds of years, prior to the events of Christ, these things have been said, this is going to happen. This is going to be we just recently read. This is going to be where the messiah is going to be born. That was 700 years on the 750 years before the birth of Christ. Think of how much changes in 700 years. I mean, the United States wasn't even the United States. It was a big continent full of indigenous people running around with bows and arrows and things along those lines in those days. I mean, this was this was Woods and wilderness. 700 years ago. You know, a lot changes, but yet the profits have said in 700 years, this little town, this little podunk town, the messiah is going to be born. That's pretty impressive. Events in our own lives that are just providential. The right person showing up at the right time in the right way with a thing that we most need. When we were thinking perhaps even about them, we're praying that God was sending somebody to help us through a time of difficulty. You know, these things don't happen by random chance. They happen though. A sermon that aligns with a Sunday school lesson, how often times have we seen and talked about that for years, I've had Sunday school teachers saying, did you look at my notes? And I kind of want to say back to them. Did you look at my notes? You know, and we see that a song played on the radio at just the right time when we're blue and needs to be lifted up when we're happy and we need to be kind of whatever it happens to be. One of the things that kind of amazes me and animal rescuing a human being from death. How often does that happen? It happens a lot. More often than we sometimes would think. Do you realize that records of dolphins saving drowning swimmers and sailors dates back as far back as ancient Greece? There are records of Mariners falling off board of their ships. And sharks circling and a group of dolphins coming in and chasing away the sharks and pushing the drowning man back to the ship. As a Christian, we see God's hand. We see that as a sign that God exists. How can we not see God's hand in some of those things? But to the non Christian, they describe it in ways like chance, good luck, say one of the popular things is to call it karma. You know, it's karma. Coincidence, serendipity, you know? It's all of these things other than guys. It's anything but God. To the atheist. God gives signs. They give signs in nature. God gave signs regularly through the Old Testament to guide his people. We were at a few weeks ago as we were working through numbers. The budding staff Aaron. It was given by God as a sign that Aaron was the right rightful high priest. The following with Moses. The thuman, it's kind of one of those funny things because we don't really know exactly how they worked. But the arm and the thumb and the high priest war in the Old Testament days. They were to help him with judgment, you know? Do we go scientific and say they glowed? Are they vibrated or there was a spirit? We don't know. We just know that they were there to help with judgment. You know, for the higher priest, and he had access to those things. The golden, the fleece, not the golden fleece, wrong. Wrong story. The golden wow. The fleece of Gideon see that G there with fleece and my brain just kind of wants to go golden, please. When's mythology? One's true history. Let's keep them straight. All right, the fleece of Gideon, true history, not mythology. That was wet and then dry and things along those lines. The rainbow. God gave as a sign of the people. One of the kind of interesting one is hezekiah king hezekiah's recovery. You know, he was sick to the point of death and he recovered. And then he thought, well, all right, great. And God judged him again. He went, oops. You know, how much we are like that. And we do that. Again, that was described to be a sign. Isaiah's sign of the coming messiah being born of a virgin is a sign that God gave. So we would know. David, king David, in some 86, says of signs, expecting signs. For God's people, he says, show me a sign or bring a sign that those who hate me when they see it will be ashamed. So here's David expecting God to use and do signs to humble and to shame his enemies. New Testament. Jesus is always working signs. You know, the wedding in Cana is called a sign. The healing of the official son and John fore is called a sign that Jesus did. The feeding of the 5000 is called a sign that Jesus did. In fact, John and his gospel said there were so many signs that Jesus did in the presence of the disciples that John couldn't even record them

"All right, so Dan asked me to breach several weeks ago. And give you a little background on the ground. So usually the outside preachers are going through the Somme. And the next song is psalm 38, which Brian read for us. And so I spent about a week probably in psalm 38 looking at that. And it's a bleak. Passage to say the least. You know, I was struggling getting excited about it. And but I was going to do it because all of scripture should be preached. And we are blessed with elders and others who preacher that are willing to preach all of scripture, no matter how hard it is. And so I was diving into this and I got to admit, I wasn't excited. Do you ever listen to the preachers that bring lots of good news, happy thoughts, and they skip the other stuff? I could easily be that. That would be my band. But Dan threw me a bone. A week later, he comes to me and he says, hey, how about Isaiah 40? Would you do that? And I look at Isaiah 40 and I'm like, yeah, I can do Isaiah 40 because not only did he throw me a bone, but threw me a bone that had a lot of meat on it, okay? Easy meat, okay? This is actually a bone that is probably still in the cow. It is so much neat on this Isaiah 41. So I went from looking at stuff like your arrows, pierces me deeply in your hand presses me down to comfort, yes, comfort my people, okay? So there's the heart of my message coming to you. This is where I'm at. And so. I wanted to give you that little bit of background. So you could understand how joyful this message is. So with that, well, let's go to the lord and prayer. Heavenly father. Lord. Your word is so rich. Lord every piece of it. Lord, let us look at these words. From Isaiah, lord you gave to the prophet, the lord, you've given to us lord not as a history lesson, but lord, as an understanding and a revelation of who you are. Lord, let our hearts take these words. Lord and not turn them into some action that we can be proud of, but lord that the spirit would work in a lord that we would turn them into your glory lord that we would see your glory shine through them because that is their purpose. That is their true meaning. A God who is so far above us. And yet lets us come and sit with him and worship him or thank you for that as this message comes lord, let it truly be you. In Christ's name amen. Hit a little bit of background in Isaiah. And at this point, I kind of feel like, for those of you who have been here for a while and done a Wednesday night with us for how long were we in Isaiah. I feel like I should just say Justin, can you recap Isaiah for us? And I bet he could do it. So Isaiah is it's not exciting for a matter of fact. Of psalm 38. Chapters one through 39, okay? It's somewhat of a bleak thing. I mean, just to start out and Isaiah, chapter one, just starting the vision of Isaiah, the son of Amos, which you saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of esia, jotham ahaz, and hezekiah kings of Judah. Hero heavens and give eero earth for the lord has spoken. I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me. The ox knows its owner and the donkey it's master's crib, but Israel does not know my people do not consider. Alas inflammation. A people laden with iniquity, a brood of evildoers, children who are corruptors. They have forsaken the lord. They have provoked anger the holy one of Israel. They have turned away backward. So this is the flavor of Isaiah. Most of the way through Isaiah up until. Chapter really about chapter 35. It starts, there's still some bleak coming, but up to 39. So in chapter 6, I got to tell you, I associated well with Isaiah in chapter 6, Isaiah gives his account of his calling to be the prophet and chapter 6. See, he recognizes he's in the presence of the lord, just okay, so every once in a while, my Sherman study feels a little bit like a pinball machine. You throw the ball up there and it bounces around a little while until you get to settle back down, okay? So every once in a while, I'm going to bounce. So right now I'm going to bounce. I'll try to warn you, but I can't promise. So I'm going to bounce. So in the song, beautiful tune Al should die. We sing it occasionally. Some people pick it quite frequently. And the song L should die. It talks uses the word add a 9. And when Isaiah inverse one of chapter 6 says he is in the presence of the lord. That's the word adenine. Now, the significance there is ad and I is translated as O lord. And what that means, so we have almighty. We have so many names for God, but Adam and I is O lord. So that is a term that comes out from us to him recognizing his sovereignty. We would say O lord because he had sovereign over us. We would recognize his lordship. And so that's Isaiah right here. Isaiah says he is in the presence of the lord at an eye. So he's recognizing God sovereignty and his lordship. Then he gets to hear the Sarah from choir. He recognizes his unworthiness in that, says his lips are unclean, but then a live coal is put on his lips, and it is told him that his iniquity is taken away and his sin is purged. Okay? Then God asks, who will go for us? And Isaiah see volunteers. She says, here I am. Sin me. And then God gives him this message. Keep on hearing. This is the message that he, the start of the message he is to bring to Israel at this point. So, okay, I'm going to go now, God says here is your message to Israel. Keep on hearing, but do not understand. Keep on seeing, but do not perceive. Make the heart of his people dull and their ears heavy and shut their eyes lest they see with their eyes and hear what their ears and understand what their heart and return and be healed. So he is actually giving a message of Israel's got a hard and hard and you can go tell him they've got a hardened heart. And so his message to them is they've got a hardened heart. So that is going to take us this message of a hardened heart and judgment to come and judgment that's at their doorstep and we see that judgment up until.

You can't help but to think about Alicia and his servants surrounded by an army of soldiers and Elijah sang God open the eyes of my servant to see there are more with us than with them. And got to opens the eyes of elisha's servant and the servant sees that there's an angelic army surrounding them protecting them. You think about Elijah when he's going up against the prophets a veil, it's him versus foreign 50 prophets and bail doesn't seem like there are more with Elijah than with bail, but the beauty was. The lord God was with elisha, is with his eye and the people of Judah here. And that changes everything. There's a real sense in which perspective is the key to strength and courage. I think about it. Everything changed when hezekiah said to the people, God is with us. Therefore we don't need to be afraid or dismayed, because God will help us. And fight our battles and that changes everything. So the most important thing for any one of us then. Is to make sure that we are with the lord. The lord is with us and we know the only way that's possible is through faith in him and obedience to his word. Are we living in obedience to his word and trusting and his presence with us is promises to us according to his word. So God we pray that in each of our lives today, you would help us to abide in you. You would help us to worship you to fix our eyes on you and to obey you and your word. We know that this is where blessing has found. We know that this is where courage is found. Just like you said to Joshua and Joshua chapter one, when you told him not to be afraid to be strong and courageous as he meditates on your word day and night and as he's careful to do according to all that is written and it got you to help us. To abide in you to obey your word and to trust in you as we do to have second chronicles 32 type perspective that leads to strength encourage and godly pray for your help. In our battles, God we pray that you would do that which we can not do. We are weak and you are strong. We are hopeless on our own you are our hope. We pray, your joy is our strength. God we pray for your help. In all kinds of things that different ones of us are walking through right now. We pray for your help and we pray that you would help us to be strong and courageous to not be afraid or dismayed, but to look to you and trust in you and rest in you and to help you promise to give. All glory, be to your name, oh God. You are for us. Nothing can stand against us. And Jesus name we pray. Amen..

I read this scene here about all of this joy and gladness in sacrifice and worship and obedience in Jerusalem, like had not been heard in years and generations because this picture is a reminder of the joy in the gladness that we celebrate today. Like on Christmas Day, the fact that the God whose holy habitation is in heaven has come to you and to me to this weary oral and he has come specifically to pay the price for sin and sinners like you and me. He has come to save us. That's his name. Jesus name means he will save his people from their sins. This whole picture and second chronicles chapter 30 of all these different sacrifices for sin and the joy that brings the full and final sacrifice for sin has been made. And so we have reason to celebrate today that Jesus has come. Did you just live the life we couldn't live? Died the death we deserve to die. And he has conquered the enemy. We could not conquer sin and death itself. So we celebrate today. Jesus. All glory, be to your name. God on high. All glory be to your name. Glory to God in the highest. We've raised you for the joy and the peace and the forgiveness. And the reconciliation and the life you have made possible for us. We celebrate you today, lord Jesus. We celebrate you, oh God. We praise you for your love for us for coming to be with us and we pray that as we celebrate the joy of Jesus today that you would help us to spread the joy of Jesus among all the nations God we pray for people today, people groups today who don't know the good news of your grace and your glory and you're coming in Jesus got to pray for the Berber of Morocco's specifically God, I think about meeting different Berber men and women and children in Morocco and the number of them who have little to no knowledge of who you are and what you have done. God we pray for the spread of the gods among the Berber of Morocco and thousands of other people groups like them got to be prayed and in the next year between now and this time next year Christmas next year got her pray that more people groups would be reached with the gospel that you would use us. Our lives are prayers are giving our churches toward that end God that the gospel. The good news of great joy in Jesus would spread to more and more nations. God use our lives toward that end, we pray. There's always celebrated. The reality that you whose holy habitation is in heaven have come to us to save us from our sense. We pray with joy in Jesus name today. Amen..
