U.S. Futures Rise to End Volatile Week; Bonds Dip

"European stocks rising along with US futures this morning mostly Asian shares they posted modest gains of tell mulches week of trade on certainly appears over global growth drawing to a close for this of Friday at treasures Perrin most of Thursday's gains what does it all mean let's wrap up the week with Michael Hughes and he's the chief market analyst at CMC markets joining us from London this morning my god thanks for your perspective of this morning did the smart money the bond market get it right or wrong this week with the version I think that's really the big question facing investors right now is the inversion a harbinger of an approaching recession or is it simply because interest rates are so low and you'll curves aside flat or negative the investors are not only looking for yield anyway I can find it and obviously you is he able to much higher than yields here in Europe or there is an element of deflation risk and I think really nice and the jury is still out on that if you look up blogs comments yesterday is quite clear to me the the US federal reserve is going to push back on a fifty basis point right calf in September we might get some more color on that Jackson Hole next week or even from the fed minutes next week but I think between now and then it's going to be a pretty bumpy ride given the geo political backdrop between the US and China and obviously Hong Kong as well okay with the data yesterday also with the employment picture here in the United States the question to you that is a hobby out of recession with data like that we've done I don't think that for me is the the big thing I think what we've best is looking for is more yield ply then IT of a risk of recession ply because you know you look at US thirty yep okay speck above two percent you call the US ten year one point five six percent you compare that to what you get out of here you know there's a there's an almost there is another two percent difference in terms of your pain you if you look at the German bund yield is a minus no point seven lotus quite a difference in Cary so US unfortunately four eight he's suffering from the fact that he's healed to so much higher now you can blame the fate you can blame the economy you can even blame president trump in the fiscal stimulus from every year ago the full the full size the fate essentially I think two of the shoot in terms of its right because I think the fight with a reverse the December one in July was probably the wise thing to do but if you look at the data there's nothing in that thanks for that would suggest that the US consumer is anything other than fairly resilient now that might change with the consumer confidence numbers of the coming out for August because the timing of those numbers all the rebound in July was then followed by president trump announcing those tariffs all the remaining Chinese goods in August now how that affected US consumer sentiment for this month could be a key indicator of how retail sales perform when they released next month but I'm not seeing any evidence that the US economy is insignificant trouble and count out the U. S. consumer at your own risk as opposed to the history is any indication well you have cigna so you can go by alma I'm a great believer in looking back a war history tells me with respect to well I called him Mr but by the same token I also reminded to think of all mark Twain's repeat to say history doesn't repeat itself but sometimes it often rhymes so in other words don't take anything for granted look at the price section and trade what you say also we will if you're talking about the differentials in in yields you know you also look at the the yield from S. and P. five hundred that the year that's also above some of the treasury's at this point it it it it kind of begs the question I suppose or does it what's the alternative to the United States well there isn't one but you also have to take into account the overseas earnings of these S. and P. five hundred companies and while the US consumers ultimately very resilient the S. the S. and P. five hundred does get an awful lot of IT seasonings if you go outside and in China and Europe at some point the US will catch hold of Mike thanks a lot Michael Hewson chief market analyst at CMC

The new communication rules

"Talking tech is brought to you in part by northwestern. University offered in partnership with north Western's Feinberg school of medicine. The program prepares students for emerging opportunities across the healthcare spectrum. Details are at SPS dot northwestern dot EDU slash informatics face it. You're not going to call somebody before texting. I and asking if it's okay that's one of the new rules of communications in twenty nineteen Delvin Brown from USA day. Just wrote a big piece on the new rules, and we've got him here on talking tech dalvin tell everybody what's up. I guess one of the most common rules is one of the things. I think we can all agree about is that you don't send anyone a one word text in. Nobody likes to to send out a long detailed text message. And then, you know, go to check your check the reply and it just as Kay in all so. I think that's one of the that was one of the big ones that have people had talked about. But but also, you know, I think to there's a lot of people who are saying don't double text me don't send to texts in a row kind of thing. Give me a chance to to to respond. So that was a really common one. Do you have any that you can think of anything that you personally in your personal life any new rules that you live by of when it comes to communicating via won't be the new ruling, you don't call someone before either texting or emailing and saying mad call you. Yeah. I mean, it's up things like that. You know, you would think are Britney common sense. But in one of the interesting things about about the whole thing, as you know, we get frustrated when people don't know. And that's because no one's really teaching instinct, interestingly enough, one of the people I spoke with said that they feel like Snapchat and Instagram. EM's as the future and that calling and texting even is on the way out, but I'm gonna text gonna ride that texting wave as long as. That's fine accepted to many people show up on my phone without their name associated with the phone number. I don't know who they are. Yeah. Do you mean where they text you send you a text message? But you don't have the number saved. Will you didn't you didn't bother to associate the phone number with their names? So just this phone number shows up in ask you a question, and you don't know who you're talking to. And then the other thing is we don't answer the phone because they're it's all rubber calls yet. Well that too. Yeah. There's a lot of those coming through, you know, one of the things that I found really interesting to was one person it said, you know, that when they receive phone calls, they declined the call to send a text to the to the person that was calling them. So it's almost as if you know, some people don't even need the calling feature anymore. If they're in know, refusing the Hewson to pick up will the new rules. You've enlightened us Davin Delvin Brown's article for USA day, the new rules communication, look for it at USA today dot com, you've been listening to talking tech. You can find me on Twitter at Jefferson Graham, Delvin, what's your Twitter at Galvin undisposed around. Already. That's an easy one. Thanks, everyone. For listening. "One is down. You know? They don't they don't do too many things with. That I thought start out cool eve Hewson plays made marrying in. And cheaper. She played. Yeah. Rachel over over though. No, she not a bad actress. But they don't give shit to do at the beginning. Like, she was going to be much of a bed as Robin Hood. She starts out as a thief, Robin, Robin Hood, and and after that scene. She don't do a damn thing after then she knows she does she serves soup. Nice clothes and win serves. Pretty much. Still some later. Okay. All right. Her boyfriend. Jamie dorian. Jimmy will his name. They even to go back to the dark Knight comparisons. They don't that's a spoilers. You probably shouldn't. I kinda got. We'll tell you. I'll let you do it afterwards. But that is the most daring one in your face about like, that's what I meant by these still certain villains. But I'm not going to spoil it for anybody out there. Okay. So So, know. you know. Listen up put it this way. It's not is. As much as much as I'm making. The sun is way is not a ninety terrible film is not. I mean, this is bad is bad. But you're Corey I'd have a terrible. Oh. I know about it once like when you hear something like this you want like Ted it should apart. But that's not. That's not what I'm supposed to do. I'm supposed to come in and say, how movie is honestly like, you know, it's not it's bad. But it's not terrible. You know, because I'll tell you there's certain things that good like the medieval sits in the movie, they they have they make full world that looks real. Even the buildings and affects look good. No, it is shot. Will they make a worthy like lived in? Not like, you know, they'll go overboard with it like, they do with King, Arthur right here because King Arthur, you know, they herald king, which is more of a magical movie, but they they they want to show you how much money they have. So they just put it onto thick this. This seems actually want to create a world of these characters to inhabit. Because that movie tried to build his own superhero. Universe should have a spin off with the with the nicer the roundtable, you know, they're gonna be like medieval of vengeance..

"His current occupation therapist is current case manager to come in and visit Mason. Accumulatively Mason therapists will come to days at the week. In his case, caseworker or case manager will come like once a month or so just to check his progress, right Intel to them about things that they were doing. It therapy in in that was working Mason was still going to go to therapy on Wednesday Fridays, but for longer periods of time. Right. So he gets his scooter first week. Everything's good. Then you know the next week his therapy shows up in everything is good in they tell us the therapist ain't that Mason should go less days. Instead of four said afford anything. He's three instead of the terrorists come to think that there should come every day just to help them transition in the the better he does more they can. You know, we her off of being reduce our monotone. Right, great. We've got a player. Nobody's the same page. A week goes by this. Then the following week, which was last week hurricane. We get an Email saying from the teachers that we think they would like to. They have some concerns in wanna talk to us. Now the Mason was in class for fucking days. Don't count the first day. 'cause I as just a lot of bullshit right pairs of their most of that day. So he was in by Hewson class for four fucking days. Right. Okay. So then hurricane happened? Last week was supposed to meet the last Thursday. Hurricane happened school closed down on Friday in a Saturday, right? I mean, Friday, Monday, Thursday, Friday. So Mason didn't go to school that week. Right? Because we didn't want him to school until after we talked to the school in see was was going. All right. See what happened. So we say, okay, we'll have his caseworker com will all have many no need for the casework. Just the parents. That's fucking strange. So they have her game as we can't do the meeting. They access to come on Thursday after school. 'cause they think Mason is going to be down Thursday because he was out of school. Monday classes were closed and Tuesday opened back up, but take Mason go to school Tuesday and Wednesday. He wouldn't went to school, but it was a teacher's work. Good. So now we're at Thursday. We didn't send them school Thursday. We send them to a relative's house, and I was went to work, came out of work for like a couple of hours go to this mean we get into meeting Danny. And first thing they tell us is how great weight Mason is, but they wanna know why we chose them versus going public school. Isn't that kind of their thing though? You said like the teachers specialize that day, you see you, you're on same pages me his mother, right? That's the reason why the his teacher has a degree that she has experienced with children with autism spectrum and she has like the masters in behavioral science. So she knows about these different things. The teacher's aide who also is there has a child that actually is on the spectrum, right? So we feel like he's getting the best treatment. He can get plus a leashes there who's Hysteresis. She's there with them and you know, helping out, you know. So we think that this is okay. But before we go to this mean we keep getting these reports from his therapist and then his caseworker how the teacher who's supposed to have all these qualifications is complaining about. She is not a quip to do this and she's tired. She's supposed to be retired by now. She sitting it'd be in his classroom now. She's been complaining to complain the plane in for the entire few days that makes it went to school. So now I'm like, okay, you complain in this it, that's that's the one meal. Then again, is mean they tell us that they don't want my son in class. So weird. They say the reason is because CMS which is the public school diner it has, you know, different programs for children on the spectrum in they have Clack setup for children on spectrum. They feel like is better suited to be on the spectrum. Right? Okay or not be in his class, but this is the problem. And the reason why we didn't go with that option in the first place because if we send him to see him as they wanna do another evaluation on my child. The evaluation that will stick with him throughout his entire tenure through that fucking schools..

"And plug those into the long till cure tool and those are much more broad those are for the people that they you know they they don't know what lee pays is they don't know it click flaws as they just know they need like an affiliate management system or they need a on a squeeze page builder they know enough that that's all they know that they don't they're not familiar with the brand names so that's like a lot more broad but it that's kind of scaling big once you've attacked all the other key words and brands out there and competitors so that's kind of how to scale with with click funnels and there's so much opportunity like there's there's only so much that i've been able to do and that's why i'm kinda sharing this because i know there's a lot of affiliates out there that day get really impressed by my results are other people's results they're posing screen shots in the facebook groups and you're like wow you know these are big numbers i want to achieve that and every like every body that is a willing to put in the effort can absolutely so there's plenty of opportunity for each person even if you just focused on one batch of key words like if you wanted to be the guy that kind of siphoned all the lead pages traffic and referred does that traffic to click funnels you could be that guy or if he just wanted to focus on the in hewson's off traffic in kind of syphon that traffic from google and youtube you could you could be that guy and just just pick a place to start and then again as you but as you start to make more commissions you're gonna get you're going to want to make more that that's a way to scale because i don't want you to run to these roadblocks where you're like man in our went from zero two thousand bucks a month but how do i get to two thousand a great are you are you doing primarily videos for that content are you doing blog posts at work.

"Was subtle how you said on two consecutive days because what we do with aid do and nobody can stop lowest well that was that was just planning a seed they're she'll be defect she knows that they read everything and that was very subtle but public challenge to them so when you match up to this defense against the great quarterback or grey running back or great offense day respond every single time there there really is not in the section they may have a bad game against the lesser team but when they know that it's somebody that's gonna lead off sports center well they're they're gonna play and so i think the challenge will be when they play it seemed like a bills with rich denison it's just an awful lot it's going to be those games but when you param against somebody that they know up they're going to play and they're gonna make it really hard for you not look like the super bowl defense a couple of days ago all clear the kazak joining us here ondrive type sports so then would you say that sunday is a trap game for the broncos uh i don't believe in shock games in the and the pros i think it's true in college i saw a lot but the college ranks but in the pros they you know marcel garish no stock will prove dose hewson with parents classes one dollar so they they identify with players more than teams and so he built uh you know several really good players on defense they don't have many on often say at one a kopach shadia mccoy uh but i don't i don't think it's a trap came necessarily i just think it's a really tough game and you know somebody asked me why the spread was only three when the bill played that well and they haven't i don't believe this award touchdowns released or many of them and so i don't think it's a.

"And to eighty and he hits the ball farther than everyone else and it's very obvious that he does that and he kinda came out of nowhere in place for the yankees and on and on and on it seems like you can just appreciate what aaronjudge does as a casual thin much more easily than you could appreciate even someone like mike trout where you would have to watch him regularly to see all the little things he does and all the ways he contributes and he's on the angels obviously in he hasn't been making the playoffs and and that hurts but i think he's not necessarily a better player as good a player but i think just what he does is so easy to see and so easy to communicate in given that and the market and everything it seems like maybe he is the guy who would have the most kind of crossover potential for people who don't care about baseball and more subtle baseball skills yeah i was actually having a a very similar conversation over the weekend a friend of mine is a a show runner for a popular latenight television program i'm no i'm referring to him and honestly but anyway hewson town over the weekend he's based in newyork and he and he is a he's interacted with aaron judges had aaron judge on on the television show and a you know we've all we all read the articles about how aaron judges just a great dude and he's very levelheaded and he's always reaching out tell the players for help and he's always receptive to the fans into coaches and the beers and all that stuff he's just a a good dude who is able to make a bunch of the just means that he needed to make in order to become the second best hisbullah player on the planet i don't know i don't know where that is yet but with the with the show runner was saying was that in his opinion at least the only thing that was really a holding judge back was we had to wait to see what he did in the home run derby i was talking to this friend on saturdayit was like if judge kills it in the.

"Delicious and i i should say third washable and my grandfather were classmates in all in under grad in and um so he kinda treated me a bit like a granddaughter you know and uh he he just so full of stories of the best storyteller on earth and as much as i could uh between having to work really really hard i would sit with him and he would reminisce um you know he could go from telling a story about going down to fight these civil rates battles look going down into these sleepy southern towns and getting out of their within a hair of his life to um helping draft the kenyan constitution to to hanging out with lena horne or hanging out with langston hewson college uh down in the village with a hip crowd everything they came out of his mouth was like gold and he was just delightful i loved him dearly did justice marshall believe that black people would would ever be treated as equals under the law he certainly hoped it i a he he really hoped that that would be the case did he hit did he make you any more or less optimistic about the future of racial justice and equality oh well the year i clerked for him there was a school desegregation case in which the court retreated basically the court where it was the beginning of the retreat from them policing school desegregation you know basically saying to the extent that neighborhoods are are are are segregated is not the schools fault so they they shouldn't have to overcome basically people preferences and where to live in and then that was the beginning of the end rate of of of having vigorous enforcement of the ideals of brown and.
