Fresh update on "herschel" discussed on The Officer Tatum Show

"When they brought out the fact that he had domestic violence in his past, that he beat his wife accused of beating his wife up and then when he talks, he's from the south so he has a draw and he's not very clear about what he's saying and people perceive that as ignorance, you listen to him talk he stumbled over words. He's not very clean. And that crook, snake oil salesman, was a lot cleaner, could articulate his arguments cleaner. When they were in the debate, I mean, Herschel Walker should have swept them across the floor. You know, I know this is a different state, but like somebody like bar and Donald would have swept with a swept, would have the one after debate crying. I think he'd walked out of the crime. He would have to come console him. Byron Donald would have ripped him apart. But her walker wasn't quick. He wasn't quick on his feet with thinking. He was a smooth with his pursuit. His son came out and said he was a deadbeat dad that he never was in his life. He was abusive to his mom. He put a gun in somebody's head, his son, his biological child, came out and said that. Now, if it's true or not, it's irrelevant. People hear that and they become disengaged in supporting somebody like Herschel because of the baggage that he had with him. That wasn't a smart candidate to put up against an incumbent that they put $70 million into. I mean, $30 million. No, no, no, they put 70. I think Herschel raised 30 Warnock has 70 million. Or 60 million or something like that. So we got to stop looking at this like, oh, they cheating in the big it's like, no, we need better candidates. We need good people to step up and do it. People that are honorable. People that do have an incredible pass. That's not too crazy. And I'm not saying you should worry about that. I'm just saying it'll beat you up if you got a crazy pass. So we need better candidates. Doctor Oz, like, I mean, you could say they cheated on they want, but doctor eyes, really? Really? I wasn't inspired by Doctor Oz. I don't even, you know, I never watched none of his stuff. That dude didn't come out the gate swinging and, you know, he kind of was lukewarm on a couple issues. Like, ain't nobody's inspired to go at support Doctor Oz, some of these people probably weren't good candidates. Even in the state of Arizona, like, you carry Lake was the best candidate I could imagine. I mean, she did incredible job. I'd never seen anybody work as hard as Carrie Lake. So that situation was a little crazy to me that she didn't come across the finish line by a 100,000 votes. But the real problem wasn't the cheating. Because I knew they cheated to a certain degree. Newt Gingrich Tears Into Republicans Over Speaker Vote

"Gingrich has some wisdom to share. That has made some headlines. Let's play cut 26, please. You know, Lincoln in his first inaugural warned that the problem of secession is once you establish that principle, then everybody can secede from everybody. These 5 people need to take a deep breath tonight and ask themselves, are they really want to send a signal that every 5 people in the conference can screw up everything for whatever reason? They were three of them one end and presented Kevin McCarthy with 30 some different demands. Most of them involving personal advancement and in a free society, you can not just as you can't give into terrorists and you can't give in to hostage takers. You can't allow them to take the conference hostage and win. You know, I don't think newt meant that literally because the left calls us literal terrorists and uses the national security apparatus to come after us. But let me continue to build out an argument that I floated the base has been looking for a pressure release valve ever since the midterms. We had our hopes up for Carrie Lake. We had our hopes up to win seats in the Senate. We had hopes up for Herschel Walker and for Blake masters. And so we had a very disappointing showing in the midterms. We had a disappointing showing in the Georgia runoff. And then how does Mitch McConnell the turtle thank us? How does D.C. act after a disappointing midterms? We get an inexcusable, 1.7 trillion dollar bill that is now law that sent money to every LGBTQ fantasy camp that sent money to go secure the border of Tunisia Oman, Pakistan, and Lebanon, while disallowing any money, to be spent on our own southern border.

"Todd, a long time listener, I only tried calling a couple times, got through once. Yeah, I was listening to you on the radio all the time and they were talking about this, Mitch McConnell, and I told, I guess it was grace that answers. I told her I said, I used to be a Democrat and my dad was a yellow dog Democrat and I used to listen to him complain 24/7 after he voted for some of these people. And so I decided to become a conservative and I'm not sure which way to turn with his useless as they're becoming. Mitch McConnell, I guess what is nickname was the turtle? I guess that ought to be called the weasel now, but I'm not really sure, but I just wanted to touch base. We're here in Georgia. So we know we can't call our senators and get anything out of them. It's a fair point, but that is a good point. He does need a new nickname. I like weasel. That's a good one. I like that one. We tried to get Herschel Walker, and I love Herschel, but I know he wasn't the world's best candidate, but I give up on the people in America. How the Media Invests in Crazy Candidates

"Monetization of eccentricity is far advanced. And people make money off of this. And they make a lot of money off of being eccentric or extreme in their politics. But does Noah ruffman as a new piece of commentary saying, that ain't normal. That's just not where the country is. Do you agree with no or do you think actually the problem is much bigger than no one and I think? So Noah is correct, but the incentive structure of our politics is to be eccentric. Herschel Walker beat a whole bunch of guys and that George a Republican primary. And one guy was giving away an AR-15. And can you believe this nut job giving away an AR-15? Well, issuing a whole bunch of white papers of here's what I would do when I got in the Senate doesn't get you any attention. Doesn't get anybody to write you. Doesn't get you to go viral on social media. Doing a giveaway of an AR-15 does. And so the media complaints, oh my goodness, why do Republicans have so many fruitcake candidates? Well, the answer is because you only cover the fruitcake candidates. If you want more of something, reward the good stuff. If you want less of something, stop rewarding the bad stuff. And yet the media is completely oblivious to this incentive structure they've created, which is crazy Republican candidates are interesting. And sometimes you get this from democratic candidate, but it's less so. I think they're more self aware of the fact of, oh, if we spotlight the nut job count, it's like otherwise Ilhan Omar would be front page news every day. Ilhan Omar is front page news regularly unlike Fox News dot com because Fox News enjoys spotlighting nut job candidates on the democratic side.

Why Didn't Herschel Walker Win?

"So plenty of things going on, but I want to get back just quickly circle back to the Herschel Walker situation. The gentleman called in earlier and he asked the question, why don't the blacks Herschel Walker was a better candidate, a better man, so in et cetera the issue is in candidacy anymore. And I don't think I finished my point. I want to make sure that I do that. You have both people on the left and the right that are talking about the quality of candidates and listen, I'm not gonna lie to you and say that the quality of a candidate doesn't make a difference whatsoever. Particularly in the primary, that's the case. But when you're going up against Democrats in the general election, that's just not the case anymore. And this is what I'm glad to call or call in because I want him to hear this, but I also want those of you in the listening audience to hear this. Again, we live in a post constitutional America. I can't stress this enough. See, we're still thinking, why didn't Herschel Walker win? He loves life. You know, he loves business. He wants everybody to prosper. That's where we're at. The left is chasing ballots. We're chasing voters. And that's what happened on election day.

"What happened with Seth rich? What happened with Seth rich? Carl, why are you talking about this stuff? This is insane. Let's not go bad. Let's not go silly. Guys, I want you to understand, again, I can't express this enough. We are run by an administrative state at this point. We are in a post constitutional America. And I still think a lot of conservatives are having a hard time grasping this. We're still trying to fight battles. And I do it myself. I do it myself. We're still trying to fight battles is if we're fighting against a left, a democratic left. That, that love this country, that want to uphold the constitution that are going to that are going to abide by the rules. There was, I did a podcast last week, please again, subscribe to my podcast Salem podcast network dot com. The Carl Jackson show dot com breaking down what really happened in the Herschel Walker race. There's this, there's this narrative going around and frankly from Republicans and Democrats alike and what I would call the democratic left alike that Herschel Walker lost because he was a bad candidate, and I'm not saying that Herschel Walker was a great candidate. I don't believe he was, but I'm not one that gets all hyped up in a personalities. I want to know what you're going to do legislatively. I want to know what you're going to do as far as deregulation is concerned. I don't like more regulation. I don't want these bureaucratic arms of the government to get any stronger or any larger than they already are, but there was a there was this myth going around and it's still going around and again I would say I won't say by rhinos, but Republicans that don't get it. And by the democratic left at Herschel Walker lost because he was a bad candidate when as a matter of fact, he lost because he was outspent three to one, he lost because the left had an amazing ground game in the runoff season and the Republican Party still had not learned their lesson. The RNC Needs to Be Held to a Higher Standard

"There was a powerful article that was published last evening by Jennifer van law. We're going to have her on the program in a little bit. Analysis of RNC spending since 2017. The only first by saying this begin by saying this. That when we analyze and we judge the Republican National Committee, the GOP, especially the committee itself, it must be held to a higher standard, it must be held to more scrutiny than almost any other organization and I'll tell you why. First of all, the Republican National Committee is a very regulated organization. The Republican National Committee can not receive unlimited donations. The top, the most that they can receive from a person or a couple, I believe, is $750,000 per year. Now you might say, well, Charlotte that's an extraordinary amount of money. It is, but super PACS, as you saw with George Soros, putting a 120 million in can raise a lot of money very quickly from small amounts of people. The Republican National Committee can also coordinate with campaigns. So the RNC can work with state committees that could work with the Arizona Republican Party. It can work with the Georgia Republican Party. The RNC can also pick up the phone and talk to the Herschel Walker campaign. Could talk to Donald Trump's campaign. They could do things called Jay V FCs. That's right. JFC is joint fundraising committees. For example, they did this with Donald Trump and it was called Trump victory. So used correctly and used properly. The Republican National Committee, the GOP, is able to go places that super PACS legally are not allowed to go. So for example, super PACS that you might see American crossroads, which was Karl rove's deal or priorities USA, which is a left wing one. They are not allowed to pick up the phone and work with campaigns. They are not allowed to pick up the phone and work with state committees. They have to be separate. They have to be walled off. They're not allowed to coordinate. The Republican National Committee and the Democrat National Committee because they are parties are the only organizations that are allowed to coordinate on messaging on strategy, on resources, on funding, and especially when it comes to the state committees themselves.

"Republicans, much to my chagrin, are consistently as you said, caught off guard. Things happen, and I just sit here, and I'm like, how did you not see this coming? We saw a comment. I'm not quite sure how you didn't see this coming. But to me, that plays into the party. Capital T capital P, that consists of the establishment on both the left and the right. I'm sorry, I am not a Mitch McConnell fan. I think he needs to go. I'm not, I'm not a Kevin McCarthy fan. I think he needs to go too. There are two, they don't stand strong. Democrats stand strong. They backed John fetterman like he had a date on jeopardy next week, right? They backed him like he is the smartest, most capable person ever to run. What did we do with Oz? What did we do with Herschel Walker? Mitch McConnell's after going, well, they're not the best candidates. Are you kidding me? Right. This is why they play us time and again because we're idiots. Yeah, and in large part, there are a lot of things that happen in these elections. You can't blame everybody for or give credit to everybody for winning or losing lots of things have to happen to get someone elected, but a lot of times the right doesn't do the things needed to get elected. Yes. And instead, we lament the rules. So if I tell you you can score points in a football game by kicking, running and passing. The right says, well, I think passing and running is unethical. So we're just going to kick. Fine, but you're going to lose. So if ballot harvesting is okay, if mass mail in matters and the election, you better do it better than the other side. Continue to rub your face in it. And by the way, if you beat them at the policy, they'll change it. You saw that with Facebook and Obama, he weaponized it to the great job. We weaponized it 2016. And what happened? What comes out to say, we really should start to, you know, kind of changing the algorithms on Facebook. We really need to kind of censor Facebook. Because we get better than they did. If we ballot harvest harvest better and we do these things the right way, they'll want to change those policies because they'll be afraid. They're going to lose elections. Okay, so

After midterms, GOP reconsidering antipathy to mail ballots

"Are starting to reconsider the party's resistance to mail in ballots. Got to be careful with those ballots. Watch those ballots. When former president Donald Trump condemned mail in voting in 2020, conservatives began to shy away from it. They're unsolicited millions being sent to everybody. But Republican National Committee chair ronna mcdaniel said on Fox News this week that Republican voters need to cast ballots early beyond the challenges of COVID-19, ballot glitches, long lines, or bad weather on election day, giving Democrats a multi week jump on voting makes it more difficult for Republican candidates to catch up. In Georgia's Senate runoff, Democrat Raphael Warnock topped Herschel Walker by an almost two to one ratio in mail ballots, Tea Party organizer Debbie Dooley is a Trump loyalist, but says the midterms were the last straw, the GOP has got to put a priority on competing with Democrats from the start, she says, and beat them at their own game.

"Now we have, you know, we've had these horrible midterms and as we sit here now, the greater horror of Herschel Walker having lost in Georgia. And so here you have Rana mcdaniel that I pronounce her name, who's Mick moron is actually how I press. Okay, now that's take it easy. But I mean, seriously, this is someone who typifies. She's been the head of the Republican National Committee, and she has typified these kinds of problems. She's the niece of Mitt Romney, who unfortunately is someone that I once voted for him. And I am grieved deeply grieved to see how folks like Mitt Romney and the late John McCain and so many others really, really, really were not on board with what I thought they were. And it's heartbreaking. And so now here we have ronna mcdaniel who's been the head of the Republican National Committee. She seems to be guilty of this kind of thing. But the good news, this is the end of the sentence is that she is now being challenged for the head of headship of the Republican national committee. This to me is very hopeful. It's hopeful, but it's also, I think, a little bit premature hope because just yesterday, Lee zeldin posted a great statement on social media. And you can all go and find that on his Twitter page that said that he's not going to challenge her for the Republican national chair because it's almost baked in that she's going to get reelection because of how corrupt the process is and how much I think will be forthcoming about how corrupt she is and using her position to essentially for lack of a better word bribe the rest of the RNC members with other favors and benefits and things that will ultimately support her.

"You think part of the reason people in Georgia sat home on Tuesdays, you know, unless I miss unless I didn't hear the news, governor Kemp, what he should have done, he should have gone through his good old boy network that he has throughout the state and say, hey, what you did for me do for Herschel walker on December 6th. But I'll bet he didn't do it because he probably associated walker with Trump and he is a never trumper and but he did. But he did campaign for Herschel Walker. He did? Yes. I mean, he did. And so yeah, so I guess you didn't know that, but Jeff, to your point, yes, there are Republicans who have deep disdain for Donald Trump. There's a whole bunch of never Trump Republicans around and they're getting worse. They think Trump is over. They think and incidentally, believe me, just like we, for 7 years, reports of Trump's political demise are dramatically exaggerated, okay? I mean, they're already worried about a third party effort by this neutral, I don't want to bore you with this, but believe me, the mainstream media still reporting on the potential return of Trump in 2024. Danielle Covers the Recent Loss of the Georgia Senate Race

"We just got the sad news that Herschel Walker has lost his race for the United States Senate. Warnock unfortunately will continue to be one of Georgia's senators. And something I want to draw attention to is that Georgia, traditionally a red state, maybe now a purple state because of Atlanta. Is literally represented as though it is a blue state. Georgia will continue to have two Democrat senators representing them in Warnock and ossoff. I find this really weird because Brian Kemp, the Republican candidate, cleanly and clearly won his race for governor in Georgia this fall. So something is going on here where for some reason, people are voting red for statewide offices, yet voting blue for nationwide offices. We apparently saw very high turnout in the runoff, but it may not have been enough Republican voters turning out Herschel. So what does this mean for us as a nation? This means that the Democrats will have a 51 majority. So an even greater majority than they had before. This means they will no longer need Kamala Harris as a tie breaker vote. This also means that senator Manchin and senator sinema will carry a little less weight than they had before and being able to block the runaway train of the radical Democrats. So this is all very bad news. But the good news is, the Republicans have taken the house so we have a narrow margin there. So we will hopefully be able to get some things done hopefully be able to prevent the nation from getting far worse too quickly. But the house has had no say in confirming appointments. So those will likely all go through the Democrat controlled Senate and presidency and be confirmed.

"Lots of speculating all the armchair, the Sunday morning, analysts are the Monday morning armchair quarterbacks are going to come out of the woodwork. It's Trump, look at the and here's something that I admit is hard to shake off. It's hard to ignore the fact that every Georgia Republican running for office in the entire state won except Herschel and every one of those Republicans criticized or contradicted the election integrity argument. And I'm going to say something that is painful. I don't like to say it. I don't like to acknowledge it. And I invite you to challenge me. I don't mind. In fact, this is a day where you want to challenge me challenge away. I hope you'll call me. Because it seems pretty clear to me. That whether it's Georgia or Arizona, the drum beat of election fraud focus doesn't work. And we're going to have to acknowledge that it's time to look ahead rather than look behind. And I hate it because I'm as disgusted with Democrats, manipulating election laws to suit their needs, they used early voting. They used mail in ballots, drop boxes, all the garbage they came up with and what we did is we rejected all of that. We don't like early voting as Republicans. We don't like mail in ballots. I mean, even with Herschel winning, the Democrats technically still had a Senate majority, and I suppose that might have been what caused Republicans to stay home. But stay home they did. Democrats showed up. In Georgia and nearly 200,000 Republicans in Georgia, stayed home. It's really, really stunning because Georgia Republicans had one job. And the country needed those Georgia Republicans. Approximately one point 9 million Georgia Republicans voted for Herschel Walker on November 8th, approximately 1.7 million voted in this runoff. 200,000 fewer Georgia Republicans. And to a Georgia Republican who will call this show and say, well, yeah, I just couldn't pull the lever for Herschel because I just didn't show up because he wasn't a great candidate. Because I feel like Warnock is a trashy candidate when he's up for reelection in 6 years from now. He's going to be a vulnerable candidate. I think he'll be an easy target to take out. He is not a quality candidate. He is not a Christian man. He is not a representative of the black community if you ask me. Why do they vote for him? Because he's a Democrat. "Big news coming out. That Herschel Walker did not win. The election. And so we'll talk about that right now and I know that there's a lot of people that may want to make an excuse, but I believe that there's no excuses that need to be made. We literally did not win the race. We did not win. And if you see that Brian Kemp won and we lost, this race, then that tells you something. It tells you that we did not compete and we did not do the things that were necessary to win this race. It wasn't cheating. It wasn't ballot harvesting and none of that of the stuff because those things, we could have done to if you help ourselves in this particular election, but we didn't do what it takes to win. And I'm glad to see that Herschel Walker made up in his mind that he was going to say he's not going to make any excuses and that we just did not run a good race. Let me give you some numbers. I think I had them here. So if you didn't watch the election, I think with 99% of the vote in, I don't know if they have a 100% of the vote, but this is as of the 7th, which is today 9 45 a.m. this morning. Harsher walker ended up getting 48% of the vote and Raphael Warnock got 51% of the vote. So he got beat by a pretty decent margin.

"Nathan from Georgia is Charlie I love the show. I look to you for clarity, moral clarity, especially on political issues. I'm a little torn. It seems like the Herschel Walker campaign against him is working as a Christian. I don't know how I feel about all of it. I'll probably end up voting for Herschel Walker. Can you help me understand? Yes, okay. So first of all, we had Newt Gingrich on the program about this topic. And there's a couple dimensions to this story that I want to unpack. The first of which is let's kind of go to what we know. There was an allegation this week of which the evidence is very shaky. That says that Herschel Walker paid for an abortion for an individual I think about a decade ago. The evidence they have allegedly is the woman has receipts that she did actually get an abortion and then afterwards Herschel Walker sent a get well card allegedly with cash in the get well card. If I'm clumsy on the facts, please correct me. That's the best that I understand that. And so that's very weak evidence, by the way. And Herschel Walker vehemently denies it. And it's a serious allegation. I'm not going to say it's not serious. We're pro life. I think that if someone pays for an abortion, it should be taken lightly in any way whatsoever, but he denies the allegation and they need a lot more credibility than that. And okay, it's a Daily Beast dot com, Herschel Walker paid for girlfriend's abortion, Georgia Senate. The Daily Beast broke the story. Okay. It's a serious allegation, but he completely denies it. Okay. And so as if we learned nothing from Russia gate and Brett Kavanaugh and all these different sorts of things that we shouldn't first look at the facts and the circumstances and also the all out smear campaign. And if Herschel Walker did this very serious thing, if he did, is there any room for redemption or forgiveness or for clarifying? No, of course not. So that's one part of the story. And the story would have basically evaporated or disappeared from that kind of serious allegation almost overnight and leave it to the Democrats to go and find this woman who asked not to be identified at a privacy concerns, and that she and walker conceived a child while they were dating in 2009, he urged her to get an abortion, the woman the one said she had the abortion and that she was reimbursed for it via Herschel Walker. She supported these claims of the $575 receipt. And it get well card from walker and a bank deposit receipt that included an image of assigned $700 personal check from walker.

"House. I don't live there anymore. So Herschel, let's close by talking about pastor warning. I am amazed. I stayed away from the story about the domestic violence against his ex-wife or wife. I can't remember who he ran over. But I didn't do that when he ran in the runoff. It's just not what I do on this show. Are you getting hit by a double standard in the media where in the pastor gets a pass on his double salary and you get hammered on anonymous allegations like this? Is it a double standard to Georgians know that? Well, I'll Georges know that, but you know, that's not something I really bring up because I said it yesterday someone who asked the same question, I said, you know, right now, the people want to know what I'm going to do as a senator. And, you know, the allegations when you say allegations, unless they are true unless I know they're true. I don't talk about it because I think it's unfair to the senator. I want to talk about his record right now, his record is terrible. His voter is terrible for Georgia. And then, you know, he's done this in less than two years and he asked you for 6 more years. And my question is, can we put up with this for 6 more years? I'm saying, no, we can't. We can not continue to go like this at 6 more years. So Herschel Walker to close. Team Herschel dot com is your website. How are the money supply as you go into the last four weeks here? Well, we're hanging in there. You know, senator, I'm going to hear more, so he raised over 20 something $1 million. I think at the end of his at the end of this run, but what was so strange is, are they going to 8% of us from Georgia? Answer some from California and New York and we're doing well with putting our numbers out and I think we're still being a top four top three fundraisers on the Republican side and so we are raising our money and we got to keep moving forward and I'm going to go out and represent the Georgia people because right now people are hurting with this border wide open like crying the way it is inflation is terrible right now. I got to keep doing my job. He's getting out and meeting the people saying my message. So the people can see who I am. They can see my heart, they can see I'm here for them that I will always be here for them. And I'm going to fight for them. Team Herschel dot com if you want to be part of Herschel Walker's successful run for the Senate, I appreciate you coming on this morning Herschel in the middle of the storm and answering the questions straight up and directly. I appreciate it. Keep coming back. Well, thank you and we're going to win this thing. We just got to say together. Don't let anyone divide us. We got to stay together and there's the state of Georgia by together. Let's get this country back together. And the only way we can do that is in October. Everyone get out and vote and they vote for people that believe in this country..

"Hi Angie, what's on your mind? Hi, Todd. How are you today, sweetheart. I'm well. I'm livid. All these voter fraud things. If I could figure out a way to vote a 150 times, I would vote for Herschel Walker. Here is my thing. I watch these commercials. These two second 32nd commercials about partial walk or supporting and paying some woman to have an abortion. And they keep saying he's lied. Well, let me ask the country something. Haven't the Democrats lied their whole way and if he did pay for this woman's abortion, wouldn't the Democrats want her to be on their side because they support killing children? You know, that's a fair question to ask their Angie and they're being mighty silent as a matter of fact, the war not campaign that this is interesting. They're not taking the bait on this one. They're not going after Herschel on this issue. And I think because ultimately, this is a matter of redemption. Yep. But we watched the ads and it clearly states in 2009, you got people on there in 2009. We watch it every 5 seconds. Every 5 seconds, these ads come on in the state of Georgia. And when you get people of all races getting on there, well, he killed a baby in 2009 and paid for an abortion. We just don't think Herschel Walker is for Georgia. I'm livid. So those ants are playing those ads are playing in Georgia right now. Yes, yes, you can get on the YouTube thing in the state of Georgia. I just watched one right before I called you. And there's a Caucasian woman on there saying that we're who should walk or lie and kill the baby and we just don't think. Vote for Warnock. We don't think he should support Georgia because he's lied about aborting this baby. Look it up. I mean, it's on YouTube. Talk about it. Talk about racist. Talk about racist. Exactly. Exactly. And this is about Republican. This is not about Democrat. This is not about liberals. This is not about. This is about God and our American nation. And we are being laughed at. Literally laughed at. Then I got on excess north Georgia. The other day, and you need to maybe call them, they put out an article that the early voters for November, their ballots have been lost. They can't find their ballot. Well, we're going to be all over the voter fraud stuff and I can promise you that, and we got to run. You can hear the music there, but I can promise you, we're not going to let him get away with stealing the election again. Not going to happen again. I can promise you that. There will be people in the streets of that happens. 8 four four 747 88 68 protesting peacefully, of course. 8 four four 747 88 68..

"And so as we'll see, when Odysseus gets back to Ithaca, there is Odysseus trust nobody. He doesn't trust in some ways he doesn't even trust his son. He doesn't trust his wife. He doesn't trust the slaves and workers on his in his household because he doesn't know if they've kind of gone over to the other side. So this is a very striking and memorable passage here and. It closes with agamemnon referring to his own son orestes, who is he asks Odysseus, is my son orestes dead. Now the significance of this, of course, is that in the story of the Greeks, it is orestes who will avenge agamemnon. It's orestes who will kill his mother and also kill against this. And it's a kind of horrible cycle of family murder, if you will. Think of it. The wife murders the husband and then the son shows up and avenges the killing, by the way, all of this is brilliantly depicted in aeschylus's great trilogy called the oresteia. But agamemnon at this point doesn't know where orestes is and by the way, neither does Odysseus or this hasn't been home. So he goes agamemnon. He says, like, am I not? Why ask me this? I do not even know whether he is alive or dead. And with this, the conversation between Odysseus and agamemnon closes, and then Odysseus sees Ajax. Now you might remember Ajax as the second most prominent fighter of the Greeks. But at the end of the Trojan war, the Greeks had a sort of vote in which they decided to give Achilles his armor, not to Ajax, despite the fact that Ajax was kind of the number two man on the battlefield. They decided to award the armor to Odysseus. Why? Because Odysseus was the man noted for his cleverness, his deceitfulness, and also the fact that he came up with the idea of the Trojan horse. That was really the final blow that brought the Trojan war to an end and produced a sack of Troy. And so here's Ajax and in the story of Greek literature, Ajax was so angry and furious that he had been passed over that he committed suicide. So here he is, Ajax and the underworld, he sees Odysseus and what does he say to Odysseus? Nothing. He sees Odysseus and silently passes by him just a wonderful scene Homer is using here and not action, but inaction, not dialog, but just silence to convey the full meaning of Ajax's continuing indignation. And interestingly, this is a scene that has echoed through western literature, the scene of two great warriors coming across each other in the underworld and one silently passing by the other, saying not a word. "Charlie, we admire Flores on the podcast and she was talking about a phrase I actually hadn't heard before rape trees. And it kind of took me aback and I see it again in your trailer rape trees. Tell us what rape trees are because I think that's symbolizes the horrific nature of what's going on. It also symbolizes the fact that even the people coming across are being exploited. Correct and the left doesn't care at all. So a rape tree is a tree or a location that usually is hidden in between hills or it's a little bit off to the side on the Mexican side of the border, usually a couple hundred yards from the United States border where young girls are taken by cartel members and raped and taken for sexual gain before they're released into the interior of the United States. And so they're tied up to the tree and this is where this brutal act happens. And so because of that, the more, let's just say savvy coyotes or the ones that are trusted I put an air quotes will give birth control to young ladies of ten years older or higher that make the treks into the interior of the United States. You are expected if you are a young woman trying to come into the United States that you will be raped before you come into the United States. If you're not, you're considered to be it's very lucky and you're very fortunate. But there's an actual physical location where this happens where we go and film it. And the other point is that the rapists appear to be taking a certain gloating delight in what they've done, they take the panties of these little girls and literally hang them up on the tree, producing a kind of ornamental tree almost a gruesome testament to what they've just done. Yes, that's right. And so it's their kind of, that's a really good way to put it ornamental type of celebration of this.

"This is not, this is not quantum physics, right? This is not trying to split the atom. It's very simple. You build a wall, you hire agents, more agents, you give them the ability with the rest authority. You reinstate remain in Mexico. You get harsher on the Mexican government even threatening tariffs like Donald Trump did and say, if you're not actually going to enforce your side of the border, then you're going to have a penalty. The Mexican government has just basically put their hands up and said, well, if you guys don't want to do anything, then we won't do anything. And the result is 5 or 6 million new illegal people in our country minimum. Very well could be more than that. I mean, I even read some way that the Mexican government is providing a sort of a transit Visa. So if people show up at the Mexican border on the other side, the Mexicans go, hey, listen, we'll give you safe passage over to the U.S. border. It's really not, but they don't allow them to stay in Mexico. That's the point. Mexico actually protects its own border against citizens coming from other countries into Mexico. Yeah, that's right. This could be fixed in one afternoon. Donald Trump saw this scam and he called up Honduras and Nicaragua Guatemala and Mexico and used the strength of America and said you're all going to get tariffs. You're not going to get every time you call me and ask me for something from a natural disaster. You're not going to get it. And we saw border crossings go down. Huge dinesh. Now, was it totally fixed? No, but we were talking about in Trump's last year and I'm just kind of going up top my head I think it was 405 100,000 people that came across the border and then a lot of them were then deported after because of remain in Mexico. We're talking about, we're talking about two and a half to 3 million a year. And these are just estimates, by the way, dinesh, when you go down there, we have pictures of swarms of people. We're talking 2000 people in one night that come across one sector. How are you supposed to process that? And there's another part of the film that people will see and they'll be able to see it at Salem now dot com. What's called the dump zone. So there's an area where all the they call them migrants. I call them border jumpers and line cutters. They'll come and they'll dump their IDs and dump their ability to trace who they are. And so there's this massive garbage pile that I go through and our documentarians, our team goes through. And what we see is IDs from Iran, IDs from Afghanistan, IDs from Azerbaijan, IDs from Syria, IDs from Russia. So as soon as they drop their ID and they go around the corner because there's a barrier there, right? But it's kind of a joke to be honest. They go around the barrier. As soon as they claim asylum, you can't even go back to get the ID to correlate them, then you don't know who they are.

"What is the left doing with the Herschel Walker story, the way in which they have pushed this idea through The Daily Beast, study paid for girls abortion or a girlfriend's abortion in 2009, 13 years ago, and then look his own son says that he was a bad guy and that he was abusive and that he had all these children with different women. While the left is running, let's call it the access Hollywood playbook. Now, what's the access Hollywood playbook? The access Hollywood playbook is that the left realizes that the right. Holds itself to a high moral standard. And the left's point is this is wonderful because we can get them every time one of their own guys falls short of that standard. We accuse this person of hypocrisy. Now, first of all, the charge of hypocrisy is is false when all you're saying about someone is that they fell short of their own standards. Let's say, for example, I have a moral standard and that moral standard is I will never tell a lie. And then it turns out that in some circumstance I tell a lie. Am I a hypocrite? No. I'm not a hypocrite. I'm merely falling short of my own moral standard. Hypocrisy is something different. Hypocrisy is when you don't believe in the standard at all. And your posture of believing in the standard is a fake. Think of the pharisees. The pharisees posed as very pious men, but they weren't. They didn't actually care about piety, the piety itself was opposed. It's not like the fight pharisee said we genuinely want to be holy men and were falling short. If that was the case, they wouldn't be hypocrite. They wouldn't be fair to say, to use the phrase today. Now, with regard to Herschel Walker, we have to remember that that Herschel Walker is not running for father of the month. He's running for the U.S. Senate, and it turns out that he is the man standing in the way of a virtual communist Raphael Warnock getting another 6 years. This is about Georgia, but it's not just about Georgia. It is about whether we want a red state like Georgia to put a virtue of far leftist. Into The White House to represent that state. Think of what a scandal that would be. And above and beyond that, the Senate is hanging delicately in the balance. If Biden got one or two more senators, he would have secure control of the Senate and think of what that means for Supreme Court Justices for legislation. So in the name of writing a moral high horse, I'll be willing to sell out not just Georgia but sell out the country. This is downright insanity. In the case of that Hollywood access tape, what Trump basically did, he blew it off. He basically went and you could almost argue that Trump followed an ingenious strategy of lowering the moral bar and then jumping over it. And he refused to make it a big deal he refused to cower and refuse to do what Republicans normally do, run away, go into hiding, refuse to return calls of the media, act like they've done something wrong, have crisis meetings to figure out what to do, disavow fellow Republicans. Trump's point was, okay, maybe I did, maybe I didn't, this is what I meant to do, and then I'm moving on.

"Use promo code DI and es H dinesh. I'm talking about the controversy involving Herschel Walker and Georgia and what should good Republicans conservatives good Christians do? Should they vote for Herschel Walker? Should they somehow say, oh no, we're not going to vote for Herschel Walker. We're just going to sit this one out, which is kind of what the left wants. They kind of know that the conservatives aren't going to vote for Rafael Warnock. And I was making the point in the last segment that this kind of abortion documentation is easily faked. Remember, this is being done by a media that has absolutely no commitment to integrity or honesty. You can't trust one thing that these people say. And I'm not just talking about The Daily Beast, you can't trust one thing and BR says of The New York Times says, these are the same people who cook up dossiers, make false allegations. They have multiple allegations against Trump oh, bounties and on and on, it goes one lie on top of another. And so this should be seen as the latest in a train of likely falsehoods and cooked up lies, and they don't hesitate to perpetrate these lies. Now, so the question is, are we stupid enough just to go on face value? Oh yeah, well, this obviously happened. You have to be born yesterday to fall for that kind of nonsense. Now, let's turn to Christian walker. A guy is a good guy. And a guy who was actually a victim. He suffered. And he suffered and he even says this in one of his videos, he suffered because he was raised fatherless. Now he's not the only person to be raised fatherless. Father listen, this is a huge problem in the country. It is an even bigger problem in the black community where it is sorry to say an epidemic. It's basically the norm in black America. So this is heartbreaking, of course. And Christian walker is right to be disappointed and even angry about it. Now, here's the point. Christian walker was born in 1999, his father divorced his mother in 2002. Christian walker was three years old. So he doesn't know firsthand from memory what his dad is really like. Mostly I'm assuming he's learned it from his mom. So he's reflecting his mom's perspective. He even says in the video, my mom and dad had a bitter divorce. And so you're getting an account of a man who's coming from somebody who can be assumed to be very hostile, giving one side of the story, telling at best a partial truth.

"I want to talk today at some length about the left's hit on Herschel Walker. Herschel Walker, the Republican Senate candidate in Georgia, a black man, a famous athlete. Someone that the left has been gunning for. And they want to secure Georgia for the left, and they want their own candidate, Raphael Warnock. By the way, far left, the sky could almost be described as a communist. And he by a weird turn of events got elected in the runoffs in Georgia in early 2021. And many Republicans were like, well, it's only going to be two years. We'll knock him out for sure. This is a red state. But here we have this bitterly fought race between Herschel Walker and Warnock. And so a big article coming out from the left. This was I believe in The Daily Beast. I have the article here. Essentially arguing that Herschel not arguing, attempting to document Herschel Walker paid for a girlfriend's abortion. This occurred evidently 2009, so 13 years ago. But nevertheless, they claim to we have receipts, we have documents. We even have a get well card sent by Herschel Walker that is has his kind of trademark signature with a kind of distinctive H now the woman, the article confesses is a Democrat. She's a leftist. She doesn't like Herschel Walker, nor does she like what he stands for. She's angry that he's anti abortion and she wants to see him defeated. So this is a think of it. This is echoes of Anita hill making a hit on clarence Thomas for somewhat under somewhat similar circumstances, making allegations supposedly producing evidence, although the evidence itself is only as good as what you're willing to believe because this kind of evidence is extremely easy to cook up. And a very often conservatives just jump to oh, this is very damaging. But we're still walking vehemently denied any of these allegations. And basically said, look, no, that didn't happen. That was not true. And he doesn't deny that he sent the card to the woman. He did know the woman, but he says, I send out money, I send out cards all the time. As a famous athlete, he gets a lot of requests. So anyway, this is really what, and the story would have been what it is. Take it or believe it if you will. I don't think most Republicans would give it pay it much heed. The left, of course, would you have to try to use it as a weapon against Herschel Walker. But then right in the middle of this comes young Christian walker, age 23, and he begins by putting out a couple of very hard hitting tweets against his dad. He's clearly no fan of his dad. And basically says that his dad abandoned his family, told a lot of lies.

This <Speech_Male> is a <Speech_Male> razor thin race, <Speech_Male> and as I said at <Speech_Male> the top, it really <Speech_Male> could determine <Speech_Male> which <Speech_Male> party controls the United <Speech_Male> States Senate and <Speech_Male> in fact, if <Speech_Male> neither candidate gets <Speech_Male> to 50% <Speech_Male> on November <Speech_Male> 8th, we're going to be <Speech_Male> in a <Speech_Male> Georgia runoff <Speech_Male> in early December. <Speech_Male> So <Speech_Male> perhaps control of the Senate <Speech_Male> will have to wait until <Speech_Male> then <SpeakerChange> to be <Speech_Male> determined. <Music> <Advertisement> <Speech_Music_Male> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Music_Male> That's it for <Speech_Male> today's political briefing, <Speech_Male> thanks so much for listening <Speech_Male> and please take <Speech_Male> a moment and be sure to <Speech_Male> follow us wherever <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> you get your podcasts. <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> We'll talk to you <Speech_Music_Male> <Advertisement> tomorrow. <SpeakerChange> <Music> <Advertisement> <Music> <Advertisement> <Music> <Advertisement> <Silence> <Advertisement> <Silence> <Advertisement> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> On this week's episode <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> of the podcast, all <Speech_Female> <Advertisement> there is with Anderson Cooper. <Speech_Male> I'm joined by <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> doctor BJ Miller. <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> He's the co author of the <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> bestselling book, <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> a beginner's guide to <Speech_Male> the end, practical <Speech_Male> advice for living <Speech_Male> life and facing <Speech_Music_Male> death. Um, <Speech_Male> I say, welcome <Speech_Male> to being a human being. <Speech_Male> You have a lot <Speech_Male> in common with everyone <Speech_Male> who has ever lived <Speech_Male> by virtue of <Speech_Male> having lost things. <Speech_Male> And you're <SpeakerChange> okay. <Speech_Female> Listen to the podcast, <Speech_Female> all there is with Anderson <Speech_Female> Cooper on Apple <Speech_Female> podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts.

"On the federal climate change Bill. They continue to try to fool you that they are helping you out, but they're not because a lot of money is going to trees, don't we have enough trees around here. Bigfoot and wildboy. No, I just told you it was Herschel Walker. It's like trying to get them wrong. I'm so bad at this. Rude pundit said the exploitation of obviously brain damaged Herschel Walker by the GOP is one of the most cynical political gambits I have seen in a while. Okay, so this would be another what the hell Herschel? This is the woman for Herschel event. Women for her show? Yes. Okay. How many attended? I don't. There were two people on the stage with them in the video. Women, women. They felt safe. I don't know, but this story that I apologize. We apologize in advance for what the hell. About this bull that was out in the field. It was not in the theory of the 6 cows with it. And the grass was as foreign to his knees and all he had to do is eat grass, but he had 6 cows. All we had to do was eat grass, but he kept his nose up against the fence. Looking at these other three cows I want to hear. That's what he kept looking at. He worried about those not worrying about what he got right here. You got seats and no one is great. So one day he decided he got invasion of the sense of seeing he jumped because he wanted to get over there. So he could barely get up and he said, I think I can get this. And he backed up one day in 2001. And as he was running, he told me that he made it barely made it over the fence. He got on cut up on his belly. He made it over and he rolled over and he was so excited that he made it over to the other side. So now he trucks up to the hill with the other three cows. But when he got there, he realized that they were pools too

"The storied legacy of Mercedes Benz is rooted in empowered women who've gone on to show the world what they can accomplish. This July will manica has teamed up with Mercedes Benz to feature women who've charted their own paths and achieved greatness. Join us on this journey as we celebrate women who were driven to pursue their passions. Even if it meant changing course along the way. This month on romantica, we're talking about dynamos. Hello. From wonder media network, I'm Jenny Kaplan, and this is William manica. This month we're highlighting women who fled dynamic lives that have shifted evolved and bloomed, often later in life. Today's dynamo made huge contributions to the field of astronomy. She was the first woman to discover a comet, and the first woman officially recognized in a scientific position. Please welcome Caroline Herschel. Caroline lucretia Herschel was born in Hanover Germany on March 16th, 1750. Her father was a gardener by trade and was also a talented musician. He encouraged each of his children to study music, mathematics, and French. When Caroline was ten years old, she was struck with typhus. The illness stunted her growth. Her parents told her she would never marry and that she would live her life as an old maid. Caroline's mother wanted Caroline to become a house servant. The Caroline's father gave her lessons so she could receive an education. At the age of 22, Caroline's brother William invited Caroline to live with him in bath, England. William was a musician and conductor. Caroline worked as his housekeeper, while William gave her singing lessons. Caroline became a prominent Sopranos singer in bath. In his free time, William studied astronomy. He made a name for himself building powerful telescopes. Caroline gradually developed an interest in astronomy, too, and at the age of 32 became her brother's apprentice. She was quick and nimble when cleaning mirrors and mounting telescopes and careful and meticulous when recording and organizing Williams observations. In 1781, William made a major achievement in the field of astronomy. He discovered Uranus. William was knighted and appointed court astronomer to king George the third. In 1783, William began a 20 year survey of the night sky. Dividing the sky into sections, he stood on a ladder at his telescope and called out his observations to Caroline, who recorded them. Together they documented 2500 new nebulae and star clusters. Caroline also did some of her own studies. She spent her free time with a 27 inch telescope looking at the night sky. On her own, she discovered 14 new nebulae. On August 1st, 1786, Caroline observed an object moving slowly through the sky. The next night she saw it again. She had become the first woman to discover a comet. In 1787, king George the third officially employed Carolina's Williams assistant. Caroline was paid 50 pounds annually. William married in 1788, meaning Caroline was no longer responsible for being his housekeeper. She had more free time to dedicate to her astronomy studies. Over the next decade, Caroline discovered 7 more comets and submitted more than 550 new stars to England's existing star catalog. William died in 1822, and Caroline returned to Germany to live with her brother Dietrich. She continued her studies and received many awards for her talents and discoveries. In 1835, Caroline became one of the first women to receive an honorary membership into the Royal Society alongside fellow female scientist Mary Somerville. In 1846, on her 96th birthday, the king of Prussia presented Caroline with a gold medal for science. Caroline died on January 9th, 1848 at 98 years old. Her tombstone reads the eyes of her who was glorified here below, turned to the starry heavens. Several comets are named in her honor, as well as a lunar crater sea Herschel and the asteroid lucretia. All month, we're talking about dynamos. For more information, check us out on Facebook and Instagram at will manica podcast. Special thanks to Liz Kaplan, my favorite sister and co creator. This month on will manica, we've teamed up with Mercedes Benz to bring you stories of dynamos. I'm excited to share, we've got another bonus episode coming your way tomorrow. Featuring rose Kwan. A South Korean native and IT executive who crossed geographies and gender norms to pursue a career in stem..

"All right as we continue with our friend herschel walker. Let's talk about herschel. Walker a potential united states. Senator told me that you're giving it serious consideration. Where are you in this process. And and what do you think will be the determining factor for you to get into this crazy. I i know you've been in the octagon so you know what a battle is and your warrior your whole career. What would it take for herschel walker to jump in that race. Well you know i. It just takes that my family you know. They're they're They're putting together as well. Because it's not just about me. And that's why i keep telling people people to style like tomorrow decide right here. That's the guy. I got decide at my own time because i said this is bigger than just plan football. This is bigger than plan Getting into the octagon. This is the united states senate seat that can change the world know it can change georgia. It can change a lot of things so it's not something i got. I need to take lightly. I need to take it very very seriously. And that's what i've been doing and people may not understand that. But they don't understand herschel walker guys if you don't understand her to walk it has nothing you can do to me. They're got to deter me from my mission and my mission his and make the right decision for the state of georgia. Make the right decision for this. United states of america. Because i love this country. I love the state of georgia. I love this country stands for. we're country law and order wisconsin. They have borders. And i'm like that's what i that's what i know. And then you know. I love our military base every three weeks. I love the united states military right now. I think what we're doing. This country is not right to them. Let me ask you this. Because i think this is determinative in in so many different ways. If you if you've heard what stacey. Abrams and raphael warnock in jim. I'm sorry joe biden has said you know jim. Crow two point zero. Meanwhile the state of delaware has the most restrictive voting laws in the country compared to georgia. Which has some of the most accessible how they hurt that state with that narrative. Well they just continue to use that word jim crow. You know like i say. I'll say an element. You mentioned jim crow racism. Ah you're racist nobody can say anything. Let's get away from that. But i think people have to be on as i said. I love the lord. Jesus i love my god but you gotta speak the truth. The truth is we have a problem going on with something. That's going on country. Our leaders don't seem to want to respect what the constitution is united states that stands for and one of the things i was looking at. I say the ultimate office is you're supposed to defend the constitution. Foreign and domestic. That's the tate. Well i hear that. They want to change the constitution but the constitution is bigger than that. No part of whether you're republican or democrat should have the right to change the constitution. I wanted to explore this further with you. I like the idea that you're doing it your way and i know you that if you get in. I know you well enough and a long enough. That if you're in you're in to win that. I do know herschel walker. We love having you back. Your dear friend. Think the world you would love to see. Iran would support your candidacy in a heartbeat. Thank you for being with us. Thank you thank you sean. Appreciate.
