"Is here and now in states within driving distance from Texas. Abortion providers say they're seeing an uptick in Texans traveling to their states to get the procedure. Abortion after six weeks is now illegal in Texas. Colorado is one of those states where abortion is legal at all stages of pregnancy. And joining us now is Dr Warren Hern. He's a physician at the Boulder abortion Clinic in Colorado. Welcome to the show. Thank you. I'm glad to be here. Colorado is one of seven states that allows women to access abortions after 22 weeks of pregnancy, for whatever reason. So you're not new to having people travel from other states with more restrictive limitations. What are you seeing in your clinic since the passing of the Texas abortion law? Well, we've seen a small increase in the number of women. Texas who need to have later abortions. Um I have been receiving patients from all over the country, in fact, all over the world for a long time, so we get a lot of patients from red states. But last week, for example, We had half of my patients were Texas show wherever the abortion restrictions are severe. We tend to get more, uh, patients from those states. How does the increase of patients impact the work that you do? What's your biggest concern with this latest law? Well, I think this this law is really Beyond medieval is dark ages stuff. I think it's very ironic that Women in Texas. Now we'll have to go to Mexico to get abortions. That was true 60 years ago, and we're going backwards, and I think that they're always there. Many women in Texas You need to have a safe abortion and don't have bus fare. They don't have any money. And so the Texas that made it increasingly difficult for those women have safe abortions within the state of Texas, and that's been true for some time. They've also cut family planning services, so women have Less access to contraception and other kind of important reproductive health services. To your point you've been performing abortions since the seventies, right around the time that The Supreme Court was deciding on Roe versus Wade more generally stepping back from Texas and thinking about the country at large. How would you describe this moment? Does it feel like a major setback? I was there in 1971, Sarah Weddington argued Roe versus Wade case before the Supreme Court for the first time. I was working working in Washington at the time from 17 1970 72. I was very involved in learning about what was happening to change the abortion laws. But as a federal official, I was simply apply standard with that, but I was very interested. I saw They row versus Wade decision 73 as a tremendous step forward and public health and social justice and we practice health care for women. And I think that we've been made progress, but the anti abortion radicals this country Really have become the fascism in America and the Republican Party has joined forces with those people and in the early seventies to use the abortion issue, get power. That's one of the reasons we're in this situation now. There are other states considering adopting something like what Texas already has. This could theoretically I mean, you're seeing it in real time. This could lead to even more pressure on your clinic. As even more people from other states. Come to Colorado. Are you prepared for that? Oh, yes. Well, we'll see the patient to call us. We're busy. I think that there are also many other clinics, both in Colorado and then neighboring states to Texas and, uh, in Oklahoma and Kansas. New Mexico that are seeing more patients and their many of those clinics are being prepared for that. My practice is highly specialized, but we do see more of the patients needing a abortion later in pregnancy. And we were saying before. Is there any chance that someone can successfully sue you? Colorado abortion doctor for performing An abortion on a Texas resident, because this law While very specific. It also kind of opens the door for the potential for someone to say, Hey, I know that this doctor and Colorado is performing an abortion on someone who is a resident of Texas. Well, I don't know. I think that this was really back to mob rule and which hunts and the bounty hunters. I mean, this is really an abandonment of the American Constitution. Process of due process and protection. Civil rights of any kind. So we, the Texas really a, uh nullified U. S constitution by this law. And the U. S Supreme Card basically upheld that they didn't interfere. So it's really an alarming situation. And as far as I'm concerned, I don't know whether somebody in Texas consuming I guess we'll find out Doctor. You could have chosen any form of medicine to practice. Why are you dedicated to this practice of performing abortions? I was asked in 1973 after I had returned to Colorado. To help start the first nonprofit abortion clinic in Colorado. And I agreed to do that because I thought it was very important. Implement the Roe versus Wade decision. I also had many conversations with women. Came into the clinic who had had illegal abortion. And I remember one woman in particular came in. She was a young woman. She had red hair. She was early thirties. I think And and I came in to examine her and as she was crying and shaking and trembling, and she was terrified, and I said, Tell me what's wrong, she said. It's so different. She says that the lights are on The shades are up your doctor. It's clean. Uh, please don't ever stop doing this. Tried for me not to have an emotional reaction to this just now Thinking about it was a terror in her face because having an illegal abortion earlier was one of the worst experience of her entire life. We got her through it. She was very grateful. Those are one of the various instances that convinced me by the end of the first year that I was I was working this other clinic. That performing abortion was the most important thing I could do in medicine, So I think that every day I feel more committed to this activity and as my work and I have a Wonderful staff were all committed to this, and I think that Patients appreciate the services, and this is a fundamental component of women's health care. That's Dr Warren Hern. He's a physician at the Boulder abortion Clinic. Dr Hern. Thank you so much. Very welcome. Thank you for calling..

A statement by the campaign's attorney, Thorne Hern, says the campaign decided not to pursue the lawsuit because, according to the statement, The Wayne County Board of Canvassers declined to certify the results of the presidential election. That's what is coming from the Trump campaign, and even Rudy Giuliani says they're withdrawing the lawsuit in Michigan as a direct result of achieving the relief that we sought, according to Giuliani. To stop the election and Wayne County from being prematurely certified before residents can be assured that every legal vote has been counted and every legal illegal vote has not been counted. Two Republican members of the canvassing board voted no on certifying the results. But then they changed their votes to yes when the board agreed to request an audit of some of the precincts. Michigan Secretary of State says the audit will not take place because she says no serious problems were found, and the certification has been sent to the state. "So what is the answer to their question from the standpoint of the abortionist in that industry? I mean, the answer to that question quite simply is that they want money. So you know, Dr Warren Hern for 30 Week, Abortion is charging somewhere between 17 to $20,000 and over 50% of insurance companies will pay for abortion at that stage in the game, so he's billing insurance companies. He's billing Medicaid programs. He's filling even. You know, I've heard of Canadian women coming down. He's billing Canadian health care program, so he it's money for them. And so he doesn't care if if there's you know a way, the reality is that Joe allows for abortion for any and every reason, you know, a lot of people will say, Oh, no, no Audi There has to be some sort of reason. Dough allows for really any exception. It could be It could be for any structure in the woman's life. Financial, emotional societal. Any reason can be a reason to have an abortion in the late in late term under Roe. Right, a legal in America. Under under Roe and Oh, yeah, and Evie Johnson, our guests the movie unplanned and dead. Every When you touch on on the money pieces. I've got to tell you. I had no idea that Warren Hern and other people committing the monstrous act of He's late term abortions were making 17,000 to 20,000 per abortion for some of these abortions. But when you stop and think about, I mean you were in that industry on the other side was that just to come and motive across the board was the money. I mean, it's hard to imagine anybody be willing to do what they do. And what they did for any amount of money. I mean, of course, they're saying, you know, Well, we're doing it because we're you know, we're providing compassionate care to women and these women in these terrible circumstances. You know, So you know, they're saying one thing. I mean their forward facing, you know, uh, Aren't they altruistic right for helping women in these crisis situations? But the reality is that they're you know, they are doing it for money on a They're not doing it for free. They're not performing any abortions for free. That's a warrant turn has never performed. Aboard and before Hey, you know, he is charging every single time he commits an abortion Every time he killed the child. He is He is collecting a significant amount of money. And is it fair to say everything that and I don't know him personally, and I don't know his practice. But let's say that over the years he had occasionally. For whatever reason, done one for free that the point is still that as a whole, the's are enormous money making enterprise is literally as a matter of medical fact enormous money making killing machines. It is an industry. The abortion industry is a Gilligan Dollar Industry, Um if it's not a charitable cause This is not something that is, you know, just some unfortunate procedure that people are trying to keep rare. Are these abortions are being committed. You know, a million of them. They're just recorded. There are many more that are going unreported every year talks about that I mean some state of the state with the highest number of abortions. Aren't even required to report their number. So California, New York, They don't even have a date. Reporting. Requirement. So we think there's about a million abortions a year. But we don't even know that that a factual number And with the number of with the acceptability of RU 46 the medication abortion pill over the Internet way really have no idea what the abortion number is. At this point time we'll be the percentage of late term abortions. You know, it varies between 15 about 15%. So we're talking about tens of thousands of abortion you're talking about. About 10 to 10 to $20,000 her killing. I mean, this is a lot of money, and only about five abortion is in the country. Are collecting the money off those babies being killed. Dr. Warren Hern in Colorado is a very, very rich man. Every Johnson our guest. Have it the name of your ministry again for those who want to follow it, maybe help out Sure it's called. And then there were none and people can find out more at abortion worker dot com and maybe to wrap this and so grateful for your time on this truly historic day with the nomination now official and barring Martians landing Something like that to Amy County. Barrett will be on the Supreme Court very shortly to me. One thing that's striking and it's been striking to me since shortly after Roe and I was at a meeting as a little boy, a young teenager, maybe with my mom in the basement of Holy Cross Hospital on the South side of Chicago, and she was meeting with Henry Hyde, just the two of them talking about how they were going to respond to Rohan say babies. This is probably in the mid 70 sometime. And what strikes me and talking with you today is that the vast majority of the leaders in the pro life movement, the vast majority of the heroes have been women. Women like my mom. Women like you women like Amy Cockney Barrett, who walked the talk in very real ways. My mom used to move pregnant teenagers into the house so they could have their babies and then she'd support him afterwards. You are one of the troops. Civil rights here over here's of our lifetime. And any Cockney Barrett look at her family. She's walked the talk. I mean, you know, just look at this movement. I look around our movement and I see a movement made up of convert. Right? Um, you know, our movement is made up of so many people to and that's really the beauty of it. It's a movement made up of people yet. Walk the talk and people who have have lived on the other side people who have had abortions people who worked in abortion clinics, people who were once radical No supporters.

"And I I wear John, and I've had the the great pleasure of being with your wife of many many years. It's it's what the you're. I know you're over a quarter of a century. How how many years are you married? Oh way over that. It'll be forty two. Okay. I was being benevolent. What's been the key for for you? And the MRs. Well, that's that's a heart. Honestly, Paul a very hard question to answer. And it's not a single answer probably recognizing. They're always ups and downs. Right. You're you're married guy. You've been married a long time. Sure. And I think I seriously think oftentimes people delude themselves about what a long term relationship is. You know, they get some imaginary picture in their head that. Is not reality. And then they surprise they get surprised when a reality shows up, and it's it's like, well, you know, what what did you expect? And you know, I think man run into the problem of imagining that the woman in front of them really is the woman of all their fantasies, whatever their fantasies are appropriate or an appropriate. And the woman may be great. But she's not going to live up to all those fantasies. That's just not realistic. The woman on the other hand imagined she can make that man become what she wants him to be That's not happening. You know what? And so between the two of them. Sometimes you can get a real real disconnect there. But unfortunately, for whatever all the reasons are you just don't see as many long marriages these days as we used to. Yeah. That's an interesting question. And I wonder listen, I'm I'm not gonna try to talk. I'm an expert. I mean between the two of us we've got a lot of consecutive years going in marriage. But, but I I you know, if I could just throw myself at the mercy of the judgement. Dr I think the key for for my successful marriage was waiting not rushing into it. Maybe growing up a little bit being mature. And I think too many people do rush into it, Ken. Yeah. You know, Paul I think certainly we've seen with our own children when we have three and they're all married now, they all waited longer than we did. And just because we married younger than they married. Older. Does not guarantee on either side, but I think that can wait. And honestly, and I'm probably shredding bit into today's sociological issues. But there's pretty clear research that that has people who do they having children do better. And that's that can be delay to get married that can be a delay until you finished college that could be delay until you're, you know, twenty eight that have twenty, but boy, those of us that have kids know that once this show up your life changes, and it is irreversible. And. I think that a lot of young people these days having children that they're not emotionally prepared to raise much less financially prepared, and whether you're even if you're married and that child comes along to on that could be tough. But it's I mean, there's there's many factors. So listen, Paul. I don't think there is. I don't think there is a marriage expert, you put two human beings together. It gets so complicated. There are people who can help you. But boy for anybody call themselves an expert, I think that's foolishness. Well, did well done. And we appreciate your your thoughts on that. Let let me get to the subject that we really did want to talk about. And that's what's happening with the transfer portal and free agency in college athletics, especially football. I know you've given a lot of thought to this. Give us the lay of the land. By the way. I don't know it sought today. Paul that. I guess the NCW has taken such heat from coaches and ADP they're now going to revisit their guidelines. Did see that? Yes. Yeah. And you know, what will come out of that? I I don't know. I personally feel like this cows out of the barn. And you know, there could be modifications on along the way, by the way that article that Adam written Berg, and Tom Ben Hern wrote for ESPN, I think you have one or both of them on with you a couple of days ago that was really an outstanding piece..
