"Head. They also bought a bunch of posters and. Memorabilia started making like eighties. Teen Angst movies. That's John Hughes. No these not the Brat Pack. These are more like they're running head pack. Yeah. That is last time. Regardless. The exhibition was a failure because the entrance fee was too high, they were charging. They wanted what would be in today's money five pounds to get in to see the head. Despite the failure of the Brat Pack Museum one of the Hughes Daughters continued showing the head anybody who wanted to see it. Yeah, well. That's another reason why your museum won't work like if you're like I'm going to charge you five dollars to come and see this, and then someone's like. Can I see? Oh, yeah, here, take a look, so they tried to sell their museum or or exhibition, and they couldn't. So it forced the daughter to sell. Sell the head privately. And in Eighteen fifteen it was sold to Joe Cya Henry Wilkinson and in his family. It would remain until the late nineteen fifties. Oh, wow, now as you touched. Upon earlier, there were claims that the head was not really that of Oliver Cromwell, but after a full examination in nineteen eleven by the eugenicist Karl Pearson, and the anthropologist Jeffrey Moore, the issued a one hundred nine page report that concluded that there was a quote. Ninety that the head was that of Oliver Cromwell Wow. At this point, the guy who had it is name was horace. Wilkinson and we're in the nineteen fifties now. Nineteen, fifty seven, he died, and he left it to his son, who was also called Horace Horace Wilkinson the second wish to organize a proper burial for the head. Rather than you know, put it on a pike on top of Westminster Zib it in a CD hotel or pass it around a campfire, so he contacted Sidney Sussex College. If you remember, it was the one that Russell couldn't get them to to take the head back in the late seventeen hundreds, and we're like no, thank you. They welcomed the burial. They said this great, so the head was interred on the twenty fifth of March, nine, thousand, nine, hundred, sixty in a secret location near the Ante Chapel. It's oak box in which the Wilkinson family had kept the head since eighteen fifteen. The box was placed inside an airtight container like I'm thinking like one of those tupperware lettuce Christopher's. And buried with only a few witnesses, including family and representatives of the college, secret burial was not announced until October nineteen, sixty, two and the site. Nobody knows for sure where it is, and it's because they're concerned that someone will try to snag. Some. You know toymaker. Talk! I made that had so. There's the rather interesting and lengthy journey of Oliver. CROMWELL's head I love it. That thing in the middle. A number of years ago there was a prisoner whose name was Steven Jay Russell. Stephen managed to escape jail by simply walking. Out, pretending to be.

"I haven't seen it before though not that. That really means much because I'm me but was new to me so you know everything perspective but return it's it's relatively new but anyway it basically goes into a whole thing that I really didn't know about it. Here's the longest hid longest. I guess residents here whatever on snl. Sorry SNL like. He played several presidents. And stuff. Like that just to give you an idea of the time. If you don't know who I'm talking about the kind of well. It's actually really sad dog on the show like He. He Fades in very well. He's not like Bill Hader. Whatever he's very good at becoming other people but It kind of goes into all that. But it's just a documentary about his. It's very Shiloh. Buffy base so it's very. It's very all of that but it's not again. It's very hopeful because you're seeing people who've come out the other side they're trying to kind of you know. Lend a hand to show you the you know how how can go And become easier and better. But I really wasn't expected I did not know as getting into I did not know about his history He he dealt with a lot of really serious trauma and had process and I learned some things about it Earliest about what could be. And it's it's just crazy to watch it similar The biggest thing like visually or whatever that I connect boy to with this which is a straight up documentary. Like it's all real footage and everything right is they show him. He says like and I had. I don't want to trigger anybody. It's very. It's like trigger warning. I would say that documentary though. So Watch out. I know trigger warnings. Weird that people like make fun of it. Also it's true myself included. Vote like it's very if you if you know what you've dealt with. It's got some of that so but anyway it shows you that basically it's like the when I was I was talking about the Mark Ruffalo show the other day. It's like I knew what it was getting into. Yeah Yeah so Basically I grew up watching him and like obviously I didn't they show you know he's talking about and he says I was on national. Tv like very watch thing and you could see my could see physical Depictions of my My STATE HIS MO. His you know on unhappiness on wellness all that stuff and it was like so crazy to me as the same kind of dissimilar carnival. So it was it was well done. It wasn't like astounding but it's almost like a you know it's just real and it's good to. I think it's good for everybody to see especially like again like real stuff. I don't think it should I think if it's like revolutionary and everything as it words probably not Not so real you know what I mean. Yeah all right anything else for you. Yeah probably but you go ahead while I think about things. I've seen a lot of things. Actually have a Lotta things okay? Well as I mentioned I saw a handful of new releases first one. I'll talk about as Gretel in Hansel which Henry Wilkinson. This is the part I talked about a month or two ago and really with the hair. Oh No thank you. I liked it out the hair. The hair right yes. I'm sure it is very. It's not really scary. That's what Henry will a Wilkie said but the trailer it's not I mean that's like that's like two seconds gotTa if you've seen the Baba Duck or the witch it's not. It's it's less than that so it's really not that bad. I've having nightmares. I'm holding off okay. Well this one is directed by the guy who did. I am the pretty thing that lives in the house which we which we reviewed on the show. I wasn't there you realize that I was there. I tell yeah well and this is a retelling of the the Hansel and Gretel story but done very dark dreamy not that it isn't kind of already but Done in a very modernized leans in. Yeah Way and star Sophia Lois from the IT films and I definitely liked it l. My God she's saying her career is crazy. She's doing really well and I did look stupid movie. That Louis Stupid. No wonder I forgot. I'm sorry I made you watch that. That's good oh God was dumb with the ordering everything in the. Oh God no one. Yeah and I liked it a fair bit. Not as much as Henry Wilkinson would love to have a review of it at some point to have him on. It's so much fun. Yeah one thing about this director that I noticed right away. He is a master of composition. This like howls. Wilkie had to me how how? Things how scenes are composed with silhouettes. And and just the. I guess the rule of threes to be super film Schooley but he. It looked incredible gorgeous. Yeah Band storybook thing too so important for the Fairytale Kanodia. Yeah and it's it's very well written and acted. I don't know if there was as much lingering impact as maybe something like the witch has for me But it is Deborah. Definitely worth a watch if you enjoy dark fairy tales or very stylized movies because it has a pretty unique feel to it Y- other scared to watch you know maybe you and Henry Wilkinson can review that and the movie. I'm scared to watch and then I can kind of you know Vicariously have experienced without having to watch them. Because I'm scared everything all right. It's the one with Salma Hayek and John C Reilly and was that one where she eats the heart Oh Yeah I haven't seen that but that that looks intense. Yeah just wish it's like American horror. It's like there's an and especially Hannibal show is like all the stuff because it's like my aesthetic. I wish I could deal with but I'm just a but and I know this may not convince you but there's maybe there's as I think he said there's one scene that's bad. Oh everything else is pretty subdued but you know and then I mean it's it's it's like A. It's a dark fairytale so it's no worse feeling like right now. I'm sitting on the couch and I can see my screen and I feel for you to moving like the thank you. I'm like I'm putting knows no good. I'm putting on you that there's somebody behind you. There's somebody behind me because I can feel it but there isn't. I mean if you if you can watch doctor sleep or Crimson Peak. You've seen it now. Yeah like okay the other just like genre soap operas exactly all right and then I watched the rhythm section which came out in January and it's based on the novel of the same name which actually listening to the Audio Book of in his pretty good. It's pretty pretty good actually and It Stars Blake lively. And it's a story about this woman whose family is killed in a airplane crash but but then it turns out there. It wasn't a natural. No Cra- crashes natural as intentional. Yes there was a bomb on board. And it's very much in the vein of like Jason Bourne say. I think it's actually produced by the the people who did Jason Bourne. I'm deathly now watching I'm so it's just a like espionage revenge thriller which I very much big wigs right short. Swags she does yeah. I'm so out. Yeah now I. I love the Jason Bourne series. So I I enjoy things like this and it's fairly Genre based and kind of trashy it was it I saw. I read about it on Wikipedia it. I think it had the worst wide release of all time. Goldline was up there too. Yes it like. The budget was fifty million and it made like two point six or something like it was very very bad. She's not she doesn't bring people in she doesn't like people think she is. Margot Robbie. She's absolutely not no lively. I think you're very kind woman and she i. I like her in a few things. I don't think she's amazing by any means but I agree. She's not she's no Tom Cruise. You know she's not she's not bringing this on. My analogy is much better. Sorry it was also I just only. It's like one of those things like I'm I'm here for Jig John Hall. You know what I mean like Or Mugabe for as it as it goes like if she's in it alike like it not just because she's in it but like her taste like search around into you know what I mean and I was like anti-theft it like if she's they fill amino yet yeah her. Her choice of movies isn't always that great. Except for Elvis and Annabelle shout out. I told the director when he came to speak at one of my classes. I was like I love Neil's like oil. You was like yes and the reason I got to tell him that. Those are really big class but He was showing he done other stuff. That was like it was like a lifetime. Movie whatever with Blake lively and Max Miguel. I'm like obsessed with it. Okay it's a classic. Try and tell me Deborah. It's very Khloe and probably has made to bomb obsessed you know and And I had to leave halfway through the class And he I guess there's like something play onscreen so he like when I take a you had to go to the bathroom or something or other so I saw him as I was leaving the class and I was like. Oh I just want you to know like I love. Those of us knew bell is Great. I know it probably doesn't seem like I'm being sincere because obviously we have class by guy go to a funeral so piece by and that is that on that Henry was very nice. He seems so. He went to be like a farmer. Something for a few. You know an interesting live. Oh Cool Wall shout out now I. It was the only one he is the only a he was the only SPEAKER. I like to that. It was like one of those one towards all speakers. Different every class different speaker. Whatever those are called. And here's the only one I liked And now the movie I would. I would say it's only for people who really enjoy spy thrillers. Otherwise there's not going to be a whole lot there it's not. It's not amazing. The editing in particular is pretty choppy. Oh we can handle address. It pretty much feels like a extended montage like. It's it's like. How like Dunkirk is essentially a montage of all? But it's all about time it's very much I mean. It's the inner cutting and the pacing. It's it's almost no. I love dunkirk. I'm not hating on that. But it's like you know. Christopher Nolan has that style like in inception and the Dark Knight trilogy wearing gloves though they work very well Oh yeah of course but a loose mortgage that can wreak havoc. Yeah like like where he will kind of be able to do an extended amount of time but have a lot of stories. Enter cutting and flowing well and this. It's just one story. And the the editing is so choppy that it's like it's just burning through things very quickly And so- fairly forgettable a couple moments and I I like the idea of the character and the Ark of character but it it's the execution is off and then also I watched one other new release. I saw the latest film from the Director of Macbeth. And assassin's creed call true history of the Kelly. Gang and this is a Australian Western. I think that's name starring George Mackay from nineteen seventeen the main guy. He's now my did not I mean I. I didn't like the other guy in nineteen hundred live lifetime. I don't like him very much either. No and this is a set of better. Has Charlie Hunnam? Why did you lead with Charlie? He's barely in it. But okay. Well I'm not seeing it. Josh Allen in. That movie.

La gophers maybe. I got close but you actually did it so yet. Yeah so I had a near death experience. Since about a month ago I was driving really late in the rain which was not a good idea what time it was past midnight. It was like maybe one fifteen scene one thirty in the morning okay. I really wanted some cookout and that was a bad call on my part. If you don't know cookout is come to North Carolina for a day host. You can see from my house. I have a very nice guest room upstairs. You gotTa have cookouts. Even I think so. Yeah Smelted a lot milk show. milkshake melt so many milkshakes is so good they have like fifty Brazilian go jingles. Come here we really. We have lots of really great hospital. Well maybe not. We're not having really good. My Dad's is that my dad will take care of you. If you get sick from the fast food there you go we can go hiking. Just come I just just come. We'll take care carbo see hillsborough. All the Boroughs Hills Hills Chapel Hill. So my car hydroplanes. I lost control and I was actually hit. The we haven't talked to Orange County Sign County and they sent me a fine because I hit the sign and knocked it over so like I literally was on the county line and this isn't funny in any respect but that's kind of amazing. Of course I would issues like kind of kind of beautiful if it's going to happen to be on a county line. Did the sign fully fall down. Did you know that the guy the guy asked he was like do you want to take it and was like I don't want to have any to that it's still there. It's still there on the side of the road. Is it a released. It was the other day when I drove flame. Durham there Durham Durham can live is it. It was the Durham Or an term. Okay Yeah nobody does visit you care about you term. Sorry but if it was like Chapel Hill that about what they would say yeah maybe a burning an effigy still would would have had something there. Yes it was ben really cool to like it because you know it's a it's a long one and sort of twisted. Look we gotta get we. We can ju- it. It can be like a Cathartic at all. The force of the crash was so strong that the back of my truck like flipped fifteen feet in the air cheese and got stuck between two trees. Oh man and it was really bad although somehow how none of my food spilled but they wanted for the movie as well. Yeah but they wouldn't let me take it because they were like oh gases is or something and it was like but it's right there I had. I'm not trying to keep telling you it's okay. You know Connor. You're my best left me for a year. Euro crap till the SWINTON swinton. Yeah he tells us when we've been that's hilarious to doesn't you know it gender fluid thing I guess so anyway I I only call toast. Wouldn't tell us when I would not put Pronoun till the someone's Win Tilda Swinton in any case so we love to share. I won't name the restaurant because I really liked this place. We love to share cake from there. Like a thing we do. They have beautiful delicious cakes. Right that's bakery staple for special news and every now and then we just share big. It's very like like yeah. been like a indulgent. Yeah and she's doing we talk whatever and and one time we we gotta be and we went on a merry way because we like to eat in parks or something outside. Why do and he deals with same? Same don't worry. I bring my own silverware onto plastic. Anyway shut up better anyway but but we were like. This tastes weird. We're like he's kind of like gasoline and we were like weird. We Ate Mormon. We're we're all this doesn't taste like it so we we didn't know was going on and we were like that was probably a really bad idea. This was a while ago now so I remember the full details. There's also you know it might have brain damage so I get but I we ate way too much of it truly tasted like gasoline Basel. We're really cheap over like I'm not I'm not gonNA waste too. Yeah and then but then we call my dad naturally published rows and he was like. That's that's probably it's not good. Go try to throw up as serious. And he's like. I got the WHO know turned out that they had just redone and the floors there which I think I knew but they kept the cakes in its little refrigerator and the paint thinner or paint some kind of thinner on us or something some kind of thinner migrated up into the cake. Jake gnarly so we ate a bunch of paint thinner. Oh Yeah we didn't get higher which connor proud of you know since he wants to go into government stuff he can't engage but if it's accidental. What can you do certain? Yeah Yeah Yeah. So we told them. Obviously we call them more like like Yo. Don't let people have that cake. That's bad back going do that. And they're like next time you come in. We'll give you a free piece cake. You we know who you are and I'm mad about this. We only did it once. We could have gotten freak for life back tomorrow. Be like Yo I freak freak eight. I was told today into you. Yeah but we did at once. What am I gonNa do it? I feel too bad. Okay one. I'm for one I'm fine. You know what I mean. Yeah Yeah Okay get back. I don't remember where I was. You couldn't your food gas. Yeah they wouldn't let me my food by try to smell gas not really love this. It's it's a tough oh I love it. It's bad because the cake L.. Since I was a baby I don't know Yeah Baby Narc left. It didn't always make left a great faltering homeless muffins. Yeah I've got tissues. That's what I'd always fall asleep in the car but then when we got to the gas station said like the birds were Cherbourg. I loved him smell L.. So banker you okay. All the stress is do you know I can. I can get behind that. Yeah I think it's the the like burning gas smell that I'm not a fan of that's fair enough. The WHO when aflame once see. That's what my main concern was. Aflame is not.

"Because you know I don't know if this is just me I think it's not just me 'cause like people like really like youtubers stuff Bali. Sometimes you don't WanNa Watch like a play pretend show per se you know what I mean. The fees are like it's all comedians that most of whom I like know and love anyway and it's like them doing so the premise of the show and the I think so too the endure on Youtube. Youtube like fully lift advertiser rush. You GotTa get off daily motion or something there there. Hey it's not my fault. I tried to buy the DVD's he's they don't make them for this region DVD's or different in different countries. Start Post Khloe. Welcome to my blue rate buying. Hell Oh yeah I want that. I can't what they say. Sorry Henry I had to buy years ago before I do. Any of woody Allen's mess when I loved match point and I still love match point nine fine. They had no BLU ray for American BLU rays. I had to go through act. I had to go through back channels order from some from shady site but I got it over there sitting there. I got the British version. That's crazy that Maj point you had to get back and you're telling the joke you give me that Timothy Shell movie back here on just kidding which one would never want anyway it okay because you know what ties me over. You're from not being able to see a movie because it's Woody Allen and I won't pay for any way or anything what's keeping me sane about this is is that L. Fanning is also in it and I don't like her one little bit. I think she's really bad at her job Dakota uptown on girls great movie once upon a time in Hollywood right and she was good. She's coming back however she's so funny the little one no thank you also big MACs me gala. which is like Max Minghella like true love? But it's weird weird. Yeah right lowered anyway. Oh taskmaster best. So basically. It's just like five. British personalities mostly comedian. Whatever and the the two comedians like hosts the show and one is Greg Davies who a lot of people may allow a relatively to other comedians like? He's done CUCKOO cuckoo heard of. I've told you about Kooks Andy Sandberg. He's in the first season then. Taylor lautner takeover. No listen to me. Now listen to me this is. I'm not a joke. Everybody is not a drill. Genuinely Taylor Lautner. I prefer his seasons Tanny. Sandberg's like he's Hilarious. Is there way better. He's very good in it. I'm not kidding and I'm not a you know team team Jacob or whatever nothing of the sword okay if anything. I have disdain. Initially sure did but no hilarious. Kuka's who's good so anyway and man down also very funny okay. Henry has no idea anyway. Everyone knows anyways gravid really funny. So he's like those basically these comedians just a compete and do these random tasks and they have to be like creative in like it's just random stuff like get this potato into the hole in the short short amount of time. You can't go on the red green because you like green like like golf whatever but it's red because the ground is green grass so confusing but anyway. It's like a big circle. You can't win the big circle but you have to get the potato. It sounds amazing. That was really bad example. But it's like low key my favorite one because something really funny happened. Watch US you should. It's so good and like Kathryn Ryan in his Toga. Like a lot of people have a special on Netflix. Maybe I do like. I'm just trying to like I might turn into a crazy person. Trying to like a sword. proselytize it's not like make everybody. I love my British comedy shows. And everything like like. Maybe if you've watched one of the James e Castro has a special on netflix flexes. Well like maybe. If you've got one of those like Irvine which season a comedian you like is on and watch it and it's the best thing ever and so creative just happy. It's like all the try with the world's you know I'll give it a look. Sounds Fun. It's the best cool all right anything else. I've been just watching a lot of that rule. There's like seven seasons which for England is a lot and they keep going up and up for a season was like four episodes second season. They said well people like at six. Now they're all eight. Yeah it's like the great British bake off off. But if you have like eighty like is really my style interesting yeah no fielding from Bake off the new animal only got mel and nor fielding to host of Bake off at different points are in the season of taskmaster. ochre come on guys get get on it. Yeah all right. Sorry we're not me it's fun it's fun though or Mel Nanjiani one of the tasks this was getting ripped as possible and the next Two weeks taking place all right. Well I I guess that about does it can't deal with it that that about does it for the show quite a journey. A will next time star wars authorizing sky wake and maybe cats as well. We gotTA GET Henry Wilkinson. Is this yeah. He has to be here for cats both while he he likes stylish good. I think I'm gone that day. chloe cheese us so it's GONNA be a time but we'll definitely try and get a guest on at least one. I love my friendship unshipped. This show really has like added a special little sparkle to my eye of life. I think you that says we have fish. You mean you. We weren't even friends before we know each other. It's it's true thanks. Jim Never best friends anyway. But I'm what I was saying with that complement. There was a big. But which is I really. Don't WanNa see those movies now even cats just for the experience of it. I mean not not saying it's going to be good movie but just what the movie is like. I cannot wait to see how ridiculous that movie they redid. They redid it. They onic day saw that. It's still going to be frigging weird catch. Aren't that small. They're just not we'll talk about one star but yes so too too big movies for next week too big. I mean at least ours. But we'll do we'll we'll go see together Khloe. It'll be a good the time so I can't talk. I always go to empty. She's GonNa be people in Star Wars. Well you whisper. That's fine head Donald. We've met but I'll try. I mean attacks. Now I won't be talking. I personally don't mind if you talk so tweet it'll yeah snapchat girl in a white Christmas brutal brutal brutal we can see even though you turn your brightness down we see she used flash every time dummy because it makes you look better. I'm not that way but I guess so. Cool stay tuned for that. It's going to be a great time and music buds at some point. But we're trying to figure that Khloe. Thanks for taking the time I appreciate it. We'll figure out a time to go see star worse cats if you want to see what like to do I show in for both replace over and I would like us to dress up for each. Should we go as one from each exactly catch will go as vader and and Luke Yeah Pretty Basic. But that's okay. I mean now with us being them to be fair to new dimension. Oh yeah that's that's better then. Obviously no you're all right. Well I'm judy dead. Yeah of course yeah all right all right well thank thank you so much for joining us as always and we hope you enjoyed it. We hope so. We always enjoyed it. We sure did and I haven't as much as we enjoyed six UNDERGRAD. And we'll see you next time the thing go the one pig gang around..

Holland people are up an arm up in arms to say the least i could not care less but not really i mean i i love spiderman but if they recast them i mean that's they've done it three times already. It's gonna happen at some point <hes> and so now sony halley doing. They're gonna do a news spiderman. I have no idea that's the thing it's possible. His time hasn't come for to be done. I don't think so because the thing is since now. They have the rights they. I think they could cut them if they wanted so. That's that's the thing people are upset about. <hes> yes so now sony has the rights rights to spiderman films and all that and so people are pretty upset by it also by disney anyway sony disney owns marvel yeah not sony and they sold spider man to sony or some some rights or like the the right agreement something like aw that's like really feisty. I feel like that's really weird bothered relief. I e that's really where they would bother to do that collides. I definitely don't need to yeah yeah. But what do i know also pretty sure oh. "There are some interesting legends surrounding many of our institutions of higher learning. For example, there are famous stories from Cambridge where students believe they've seen a floating head in the hallways, the head of none other than Oliver Cromwell who served as Lord protector of the Commonwealth of England, Scotland in Ireland from sixteen fifty three until his death. Oliver Cromwell died at the age of fifty nine in September of sixteen fifty eight. He died of illness, but interestingly, because of his political reputation, his body was exumed from Westminster Abbey on the thirtieth of January sixteen sixty one, and his body was subjected to a posthumous execution. His body was hanged in chains in London and then thrown into a pit. His head was cut off and displayed on a pole outside. Westminster Hall until sixteen eighty five. And then the head was owned by several different people including documented sale of his head in eighteen fourteen to a man named Joe Ziya Henry Wilkinson, and it was publicly exhibited like a museum display before finally, being buried beneath the floor of the ante chapel at Sidney Sussex college Cambridge in the year, nineteen sixty. And today students say that his head, his head haunts the campus grounds searching for the rest of his body, looking for reunion with the rest of his body so that he might once again be made whole. Interestingly, there's a death mask of Oliver Cromwell on display at Warwick castle. I have to wonder if the mask was made before or after Cromwell's head was removed from its body. When I come back here in just a second, we're going to explore the story of a town called one, two, three, four. I've got the suicide or was it murder of famous nineteen, fifties, television actor, George Reeves who played superman and an original story to cap the broadcast a story about a monster under your bed. All that plus a good haunted hotel story on the other side of this. In the spirit of today's broadcast, I've got a recommendation for you. My friends, it is a course called death, dying and the afterlife. It's taught by Dr Mark Burks and and he talks, frankly about a subject where often kind of weird about right, our own mortality, the fears of dying. Losing those we love and then dealing with that loss, the ritual surrounding death and the therapeutic role of ritual and cultures around the world end ease the near death experience or after death where people say they went off into the spirit world and came back to tell us the story. And of course the controversy and debate surrounding Indy. As we talk again about suicide and the stigma around it, religious teachings on death from the Abraham faiths to eastern religious traditions and probably most relevant in my own life..

"As the Hughes purchase the head in seventeen ninety nine for two hundred and thirty pounds like depre- before them. They were curator's of private collections. The brothers prided themselves on acquiring artifacts related to Cromwell. The head was going to be their magnum opus with it. They plan to open a big exhibition. The Hughes brothers handed out flyers and put up posters all across London for their bond street exhibition. But most people believe the head was a fake. The brothers couldn't truly verify the head was Cromwell's or not. When they pressed former owner, James Cox about the matter. He was a lucid giving only a few details about Russell with no credible evidence to back up the head, the exhibition failed. The head fell back into obscurity with one of the Hughes daughters, keeping it safe every now and then however, people would ask to see the head. And she'd gladly show them. These people included WIlliam Bullock and sir, Joseph banks, famous naturalists and scientists of the time as the years went on the Hughes daughter. Finally was tired of carrying the severed head with no takers from use-of-force. She finally sold it to desire Henry Wilkinson in eighteen fifteen. The head remained in the Wilkinson family's possession for more than one hundred forty years. Pretty soon the head took on a new name, the Wilkinson head. During that time, the authenticity of the head was called into question. The first was in eighteen forty five. When writer and historian of the time, Thomas Carlyle called the head a hoax. Carlisle had never actually seen the head however, and pass judgment entirely upon a friend's firsthand account. But by this point, few people cared enough about the head. In fact, most assumed the head was probably a fake. Can't say, I blame them. There's really no hard evidence to say otherwise, what do you think? I agree. We really have nothing concrete to go on at this point. But things did change for the skull in eighteen seventy five. When another contender rose up to challenge the authenticity of Cromwell's head, this skull was called the. Shmole in skull. The name Ashmonin comes from the museum where the skull was housed the ash million museum of Oxford like the skull owned by Wilkinson. It had a pike through its head leading many to believe it was really Cromwell's at first. The ash mullion head was declared that Chanoine article yet has competition between the two heads, grew demand check. The often Tissot of Wilkinson's head did also. So in eighteen seventy five famed zoologist and physician, George Rolleston examined both skulls to his surprise. He found that Wilkinson's head was not only authentic, but even closer to the description of Cromwell's head than the ash Molin skull. It boiled down to how the head was piked according to historical accounts. Cromwell's head was piked from the bottom to top. The ash moly in head had been stabbed starting from the top. That's the. Shmole in head couldn't be Cromwell's. But while Wilkinson's head was pike from bottom to top, that didn't make it Cromwell's like many skeptics of the time. Roulston needed hard evidence. And fortunately, no one had any clear answers other than hearsay. And if you documents, nothing that truly verified whether the skull was Cromwell's. So this skull went back into obscurity until you Genesis Karl Pearson and at the polish issed Jeffrey Mirant examined the skull in nineteen thirty five in their book, the portraiture of Oliver Cromwell with special reference to the Wilkinson had they observed that the skull had gone through an in bombing process, very similar to what Cromwell's corpse would have gone through. They also noted that the head was of a man around the age of sixty who had been decapitated with an X, which was both the age. Cromwell was when he died. Died and how his head was severed after debt. Pretty compelling evidence. But like you said earlier, couldn't the head of been any other famous person's true? Many people were piked at the time, but fewer embalmed. And that seems to be the key here later during the nineteen fifties. The head underwent an x-ray examination while they couldn't give a concrete. Yes, the exam supported much of Mirant and Pearson's observations for all intents and purposes. This was Oliver Cromwell's hit. By nineteen sixty. The current owner of the Wilkinson head. Horace Wilkinson decided it was time to lay the head to rest working with the Sidney Sussex college. Horace Wilkinson had the Wilkinson head buried in secret near the ante chapel on March twenty fifth nineteen sixty. The burial was witnessed by a few key college representatives and descendants of Oliver Cromwell. Two years later in nineteen sixty two, they announced burial publicly. They even arrested a plaque near the burial site to commemorate the final resting place of Oliver Cromwell. Thus ended the saga of the Wilkinson head. Is the Wilkinson head really Oliver Cromwell's or did it belong to king Charles the first? Or is it the head of an unknown? Man is Cromwell's real head buried nays be the site of his greatest military victory. Or was it buried at the red lion in? We can't know for sure, but given all the evidence presented, it's more than likely that the skull buried at Sidney Sussex aka the Wilkinson head is indeed Oliver Cromwell's head agreed the estimated age way. It was piked and evidence of in Beaumont all point to the Wilkinson head being problem. Wells, all other theories, though entertaining, don't provide any real evidence whether the head buried was Oliver Cromwell's or not. Perhaps now the head can finally find some peace as opposed to traveling Britain in pieces. That's probably why those at Sidney Sussex haven't revealed the exact location of the burial site. They don't want to see the head go on another centuries long odyssey. Exactly. Oliver Cromwell can rest easy. Knowing his supposed remains have finally been put to rest. Thanks
