"If you get in the car, you're going to ruin your life and someone else's life. You're going to end someone's life and ruin your life. And I would think if he knows what he knows now, And I had Ryan leaf on my podcast. Jeez, like, last off season. Wait, months ago now. We were talking about depression and suicide and like heavy, heavy stuff. And I told him, you know, when my brother took his own life, a couple of years ago, I used to drink alcohol, get in my car and just kind of hope something bad would happen. And I'm lucky, like nothing bad ever did happen. I never got into an accident. I never hit anybody. I was just reckless and very depressed and hoping for bad things to happen. I was just hoping, I don't know, I wasn't gonna hurt myself, but maybe if I ran into a building like that, I was literally that dark and that dark of a place. And it's crazy to think that could have been me. You know I've driven drunk and it's a horrible shameful thing that I feel horrible about. And I understand a lot of people are angry at Henry rugs. He killed someone. It's terrible. I kind of end up with Derek Carr. Derek Carr, the Raiders quarterback. Shared a message. Basically saying, if no one's going to love Henry rugs, I will. And I mean, I'd love to see it. Does that play out where Derek Carr picks up Henry rugs from jail in a couple of years? How far does that really go? Is that him sending him a text occasion? Like I don't know what that really means. So what does that look like played out Derek Carr saying that? And certainly it's very weird in our society. We always side with the star. Like we're like, Alec Baldwin the other day on a movie set shot and killed somebody. It was an accident with the props. I guess, I don't know how that happens, really. But everyone was like, you know, I'm so I guess so bad for Alec Baldwin and sure but what about the person who died? So I don't want to come across like I'm saying, oh, poor Henry rugs. I don't feel bad for him to rug as much. I'm just sad that that happened..

"Right. The only way the chiefs get him is by trading for him right. He's probably not thrilled to be a chief right now. Honesty yeah no. That's the one thing i can take away from it. It's like okay. What he's not happy about it. He's sitting there in. Kansas city cold annette against his will leak twice if you need to come rescue. Yeah it's It was a sad sight to see. Apparently boy he just like he wasn't in pittsburgh for very long. But i guess he wasn't having a good time in pittsburgh who was a guest kind of vocal about wanting to move on to another team. So that was. I was kinda surprising. Susan ever kind of like that. He's never liked that when he was with us like it was he was the leader and even when it only sucked he was the leader. And he'd ri- really stepped up. I'm out of here. Get me out of here. I think you said he's better than the guy he was sharing time with. Me said something like that which has never never good well. He's also coming to terms with the fact that he's coming to the end of his career and that's not easy to do Especially when you're in a new place and you don't trust anyone yet and yeah. That's that's i feel bad for my. I hope he has some success to where he can go. Play more if you wants but not too much success. Because he's a chief now right exactly. Is that the first day of school twice this year and those are never comfortable right now. That's that's been awkward. Twenty twenty one for mr ingram are lock. He had. there's two. There are two names though that i think that popped up because of the trade deadline. They weren't traded. But sean jackson got released by the rams correct and now. Ob jay is about to be cut over right just taking a back seat. I here's the thing. Those are fun toys to have known about. Why is because they're toxic i. No i've heard right. Think that oh. Bj's gonna up on the raiders. That was what i think. The effect of the chargers is they are now henry rugs lists right. Need a dynamic downfield guy i think. I think there's potential that oh. Bj could end up in vegas and toxic and where be surprised where it thrives on the epicenter. Welcome it right. And i don't wanna get into too much but like the whole situation with rugs man like that is sad very so sad in.

"I don't think it'll be that huge of a deal. We'll see. Yeah, he wasn't really that. I mean, of course he made good throws against that game. But against the Cardinals. But oh, he was great. He wasn't that much of a factor if you look at this they don't win that game without them. Yeah, I mean, I don't care what the stats that they don't win they gave with them. Yeah, because he's a team leader anyways. So like he's probably here to win. Yeah. The running game doesn't have that much room to operate without without. Where he could he just pop off one pop off a great throw any single moment. I was so hopeful that they're going to get that Hail Mary at the end. I was like, if you no. That would have been against the cars and it kept Jeff Janis. Dude, I was in. That was insane, especially he made an Hail Mary to Jeff Janis. Dude, like, oh my goodness. Twice. Wow on drive. Bro, what is that? This is the most talented quarterback of all time. I just realized that I stick to Tom Brady is the goat, but if you remove all of the accolades and awards and rings and stuff, I think if you just like, who would you take one game to be your quarterback? You have to take care of yourself. Yeah, like who else? Dude, he's. He's easily the most talented quarterback. I would say. I think Tom Brady, like I said, is the most achieved. I think all things considered. You know, yeah. Like you can't argue that Tom Brady is the goat at this point. But Aaron Rodgers, he unless he wins like 6 straight quarter like 6 straight rings isn't gonna be the goat. But he gets points for being the most skilled quarterback. I would say. Just go straight into Henry rugs. Yup. Man, this one sucks. So Henry ruggs was involved in a car crash that ended up killing a woman and her dog, actually. I think he killed the past I think there's a passenger too. And his girlfriend was in the car, but she didn't know in the other car. Oh, I think there's a pass. I only saw it was one woman in her dog, but that's two. Yeah, he crashed into the back of her car at a 156 miles an hour they said. Yeah. And his blood alcohol content was over twice the legal limit. Rugs got taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. And then was taken to jail after that. Pretty immediately cut by the Raiders who the Raiders are just going down right now. Everybody's anyway. I have pretty strong opinions about this one..

Put them in prison where he belongs the now talking about so that talking about throw the put them in prison and throw away the key of that during that put up some type of harsh disciplinary action needs to be taken place in the nfl. Moving forward been. You're almost kinda hoping that Rugs does get jail time. I mean who cares about. I'm not even going to speculate or get into or give my thoughts and opinions. Because i really don't have any right now about the quote unquote career of henry rugs to third as far as being employed by the las vegas raiders as a wide receiver. I don't know anything in terms of you know what's to be happening with this. I'm quite sure of course that the raiders are not going to be play him and moving forward. I know innocent until proven guilty but men in the situation like this where you know. He was involved in a situation where someone get killed The put him back on a football field. Not only the bad. Pr is just bad every way every which way what we're speaking about the nfl who's trying to do everything humanly possible to try to get themselves into a good image in terms of more squeaky clean image really nothing that the nfl can do to really take their product to where is going to have some type of series backlash among the viewers I don't think heavy rose could have gone out and gone john we. "Which is a little strange but because it seems like it's covered but it's actually an open air stadium With a separate roof. So i guess there's some lightning danger there casey but there was certainly lightning strikes in the first half for the chargers as they got out to that fantastic start in the first half and were able to hold back resilient raider team in the second half citing good stuff and that catapults our charges in the first place in. Does that sound. nice. I mean it's like the afc west is flipped with the chiefs on the bottom and the chargers on top. I known would've called this before the season. Definitely not alright dave. Let's move it onto our survivor. Three-strikes pool who'd you pick and how did you do. I was fine case with the most popular pick. It was buffalo over houston and they got it done in a big way. I went with cincy over. The jags and i was sweating that thing at fourteen nothin. Jags at halftime joe. Borough led the comeback in the second half and we live for another week all year last week. The people who picked new orleans over the giants they were the most popular incorrect p pick last week. Ac but heading into next week. It's dallas over the new york giants. Wow how's that make you feel casey. The number one. Ooh squirmy dude. I hate that and like all the grew cowboys super bowl contenders. This matter so much focused on this week. I hate it. Hopefully you can go out there and handle business. We'll get to that game in just a little bit here day but what the people are in the house for what. They're putting in their ear. Buds for the fantasy go back starts the week. How did you do bro. Well i could have increased my score. A little bit by replacing keenan allen with henry rugs. That would've given me two point. Four more but i still got the win and i got high score but believe it or not high score just by one point to come in first place for the for the whole league so i hate coming in second like my brother did get losing the game and having the second highest score of the week dismantle rudolph how you gonna do bold action like that brought them to four whoops man. Well i had been running like a ten or eleven game win. Streak counting my My championship run. Last season started off three now. But i got an ass kicking from those berle's locos this week. Dave and there was really nothing. I could have done about it my guy. Tom brady laden egg in his return to new england. Got me eleven points and Yeah it was pretty bad. So i was done in kelsey due to two point three last week. So it's weird. They score forty two points and kelsey gets twenty three yards against them eagles. I'm looking for him to bounce back this week. Hopefully i need to get back into the win column dave. It's time baby week five. We give you a preview of every single game and dave through four weeks. Seventeen sixty four. Nfl games have been decided by three points or less is tied for the fourth. Most in league history these games and are coming down to the wire just a couple. Mistakes are the difference between a win or loss. And i know. We got uber. Tasty game on thursday. Night football bro. Damn you got that right. Casey this nfc west which arguably is the best division in football. It's our los angeles rams at the seattle seahawks. Rams on the road are favored by two and a half. But they're gonna find a way to lose the game and boy howdy. i stopped. i stopped watching the game. Once second half started i went out. This happened last year. Between the dolphins and the raiders. In vegas and i'm like this ain't gonna happen again. This this can happen again is going to happen again. Two years in a row for the raiders but now the dolphins offensive line is terrible. You know they got back. Contending field goals but then the raiders. Just made it back down. The line. defense is probably gas by that point for the dolphins and they lost. I'm like okay. All righty tied to know they were. It was like what a minute and a half left in the game came out. There were car just go. Hey henry rugs fought now and then that was the end of the game. And and this is. I think there was a tweet from freddie's freddie's armed by the way what's up freddie There was a a tweet from i. Think pro football reference saying that in the entire history of of them keeping track of football stats that there had never been a safety that did not involve at least a fumble or a turnover of some kind or at least a rush or something like that running. "My God, that's a great moment, really, really cool. And then I'm like, oh wow, the Raven's gonna win this game. Like, they get the ball back. Lamar fumbles. What a crazy, ridiculous, weird sequence. Now Derek Carr gave an amazing postgame interview. I recommend you look it up on YouTube. Look up Derek Carr postgame ravens at football, something like that. And I'm already a big Derek Carr fan. I really like him. I like his demeanor like him as a human being at a quarterback, like I think there's far more compelling quarterbacks around the NFL. But him as a human being, love the guy. Great leader, great person, and his passion for the game and for his teammates. Like this dude cares, he went out of his way to give credit to the defense saying, thank you for getting us the ball back and made a play when we needed it. And then he went out of his way. This is my favorite part. The defense that's a great comment. But then he made sure to give praise to Z Jones, the guy who caught the touchdown pass of the game winner. He was like a second round pick a couple years ago in Baltimore. And I heard someone say, it was actually with Peyton Manning during the alternate Monday Night Football broadcast. He goes like, who is Jones? Like literally like, who is this kid? Like, who would have thought that guy was gonna catch the game winning touchdown pass, but Derek Carr talked about how everybody should root for zay Jones because his work ethic is amazing. And he shows up every morning at 6 a.m. and he works hard like, I don't want to spoil, I probably already did it. Listen to it. I guarantee it's just like such an amazing moment with Derek Carr, praising his teammates. I loved it so so much. Now, one thing I want to point out from this game was that all three of the Raiders top receivers, whether it's Henry ruggs, Brian Edwards, Darren Waller, those three guys, I am pretty convinced Henry rugs and Brian Edwards about to have a breakout year. Henry rugs had a huge 37 yard gain in the fourth quarter on a third down. Brian Edwards had multiple catches in the fourth quarter and in overtime like when they needed plays, those guys delivered they didn't have the most impressive game I've ever seen, but I thought that when it mattered most Henry rug showed up and Brian Edwards showed up and then Darren Waller had ten catches for a 105 yards and a touchdown, cut this great beat his man inside, got to touch down, made two men missed jumping in the end zone. I'm really, really excited to watch the Raiders offense this year. My buddy Austin texted me yesterday. He's my hockey guy whenever I do hockey, I talk to the Austin and awesome. I was like, he basically was like, are the writers really boring this year? And I kind of get where he's coming from. And I don't need to out Austin. Genuine question. Like, no, the most exciting thing about the Raiders this year is Derek Carr and those three young receivers as Brian Edwards going to have a breakout. You're like, I think he can..

"Police you know. Completion percentage in the red zone or or passer rating in the reds. This guy is right up. He's top five top eight throughout the course of his career and in particular last year. And i think he's he's someone who right now is so. He's so comfortable with what john is doing from an offensive perspective. He knows everything about that. Offense to the point where it's like. They both will tell you he could probably teach it as well as can teach it that. I think you're going to see him. Play seeing play the best football. He's played yet. And he's going to take guys like henry rugs and take like brian edwards. Who was basically the hero last night and he's going to make them better player so that's really big. What's next for derek. Not just how how much further. He can take his game. Statistically how much better can make everyone around and how much he can elevate the people around the because that's truly wild we really you know it really comes down to it. That's how we really measure greatness at the quarterback is is you know numbers or numbers and i get it and some numbers have more important than others but it's really about. How much better do you make your team. And how much better do you do. You make your the guys on offense as far as elevating their level play and i and he realizes that i asked him that specific question when we talk to them For the monday night game and he's very aware of it. My thought you saw it happened last night. I think you're going to continue to see it happens. It's not very often. When i could take a highlight reel of a quarterback i could give you like three or four or five plays and it all happened in one game but i could also give you lowlights of three or four. Plays and lamar jackson had both of those last night. What do you make of his performance. Last night i think even though he wouldn't say that He felt any added pressure as far as having to play above and beyond his own standard of greatness that he's already set but the truth of the matter is he played last. Mike like like someone who knew that for spelt like i had to do something even more spectacular than what my normal standard is and he may have certain points in time gotten careless as far as ball security especially when he was running taking off trying to pick up some extra yardage..

"And you also have an like. Maybe you've thought this through already to with with ravens corner issues. Right so marcus. Peters was obviously under the literally the preseason snap practice. Snap after gus edwards was so he's out is jimmy smith playing in this game. He still smith's questionable. But i think the expectation is that he's gonna play baltimore. Secondary is really deep. Though just another reason why. I kind of like the under in this game like they have a lot of good players like like. They're not as good as marcus. Peters but they are like one of the teams that could potentially absorbent not having completely like like the chat like destroy the team. So marcus peters being being out. I don't think destroys them. But i think rugs literally one catch gets you there so i'm gonna personally going to be in on the rugs bet. Okay yeah my thought would just be like if we know that. This is a deep position group for the ravens. And this is an area of strength. And it's derek carr throwing to these guys the rugs thing. I totally understand like it's literally one deep target so you would never catches over but maybe the average like catch like he just needs to catch the pass like to me. It's got like i get why these numbers are low and we liked the under in the game like this is why people are like well. He's being so reluctant to agree with all these vets. 'cause i liked the under in the game. I think it's going to be a low scoring game thirty five and a half though. It's not like it's like a hundred yards touchdown here. He's the one catch. And i think he gets it so you think there should be. What do you think this should be done. Because you say it's thirty five. And you think it'd be like in the mid forties. I forty everything i think. It's priced appropriately. Because of the what he did last year. But i think that this is going to be better than that this year. So it's a bet on henry rugs. Basically the idea is basically like this is where rugs was lying when he was actually healthy last season. But like this season's going to be much different. Because the indications we have from the raiders and that's the reason to make the bet basically. Yeah i yeah exactly okay that actually i mean that makes a lot of sense to me and with edwards. Like how about this..

"You know he's going to lay it all on the line for this team, so You know, I have all the trust in the world in court and that entire room and he has he should and and that The conversation has come up, and I know that we've tweeted out some stuff. Anthony Roisman tweeting us some stuff asking Who's going to have a better year? Courtland Sudden or Jerry? Judy? What do you think about that? I think it depends on what you Quantify, as better year. Um, you know, I think Jerry Judy is going to get some more targets from Teddy Bridgewater than um, in Cortland. Because Courtland had a report with Drew lock and kind of doesn't have that with Teddy Bridgewater. Least what we've seen out there in practice where Jerry Judy kind of dies. You know, I think Cortland could be more of a goal line target for Teddy Bridgewater. Just with that size, then then, perhaps Jerry Judy, So I would suggest that courtly does something Jerry Judy can't do to be honest with you. Um so you know, I think that if you're talking about receptions or yardage, Jerry Judy might be the guy talked about touchdowns. Corner might be the guy, okay? By the way, we have some see you buffs tickets to give away. I'm gonna give away some in this segment and will give away another couple of pairs in the next hour. In this segment. I'm gonna give you a chance in just a little bit. Not now, just a little bit too NC you Texas A and M tickets for this Saturday's game. Empower Field of Mile high. It's 1 30 kick. We're of course, going to have the game right here on K away news radio as we are at the home of the bus. We're gonna give you a chance to win. We have We have 42 packs to give away. All right. 42 packs pretty awesome. So stick around. We'll give away to two packs this segment. And then we're gonna give away some more in the next hour, so stick around for that. I said one of the conversations I wanted to get into with you. Sort of stemming off of this article from Ted Win. From the athletic, where he went over the best personnel groupings from the box to the Ravens. The best teams equipped to basically run these personnel groupings. They go so 10, which is running back zero titles, four wide receivers, you want to guess who the best 10 personnel team is in the league. This was pretty obvious if you think about it. The best 10 personnel. Yeah, or wide up. That's kind of Arizona. That would be a good one. Actually, let me see that Make the honourable Arizona Pittsburgh. You think No, it was not Pittsburgh. We'll see your honorable mention where cowboys and Browns actually the team that he thinks is the best as the Buccaneers with Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Antonio Brennan, Scotty Miller. Oh, I thought you were the most effective out of four wide just personally, Okay, Because Arizona is clearly the most effective team in the league out of four ways. That was, that's her base. Yeah, he's saying, the only team that runs out of 10, right? The Bucks run 11 most of the time. They do, and they're certainly one of the teams that is one of the tops in 11 as well. By the way. That's where the Broncos show up on this list and invent for those asking Tan is one running back. 10 is one running back. No tight ends. So the 10 10 and then 11 is one running back one Titan and C 11 and you know with the Broncos. We talked about them when scanned arose here. A lot of 12 personnel one running back too tight, And that's how those those numbers get. Classifieds. Definitely. So, so that's kind of where they put that 11 personnel as I mentioned, that's where the Broncos show up. You want to guess. And this this should actually also make a lot of sense because one of your favorite teams Who is the best 11 personnel. Out there. I mean, the boxwood were really the most effective team and they're definitely on the best team on that out of 11. Kansas City probably can seize up their action with Tennessee Titans. Yeah, that would have made a lot of sense Prior to quote now that Corey Davis, they swapped Corey days for Julio and I think that was a downgrade Little bit, but At this point, his career you know in his prime was still a little bit. Yeah, right. So kind of interesting. I mean, I'm taking a look at this thing and kind of rolling down here. I'm just gonna kind of roll through this, and then we're going to have a conversation about what's best for the Broncos Broncos show up on here. A lot of teams running 11 personnel. He has runner ups run up the Panthers, the Bengals, Broncos chiefs, Buccaneer, Seahawks and Washington. 12 personnel is actually in division here with the Raiders. Foster Moreau and Darren Waller is your to tight end. So 12 personnel one running back to tight ends two wide receivers Darren Waller, Foster Moreau, Brian Edwards and Henry Rugs with Josh Jacobs on the field. That's his favorite 12 personnel. The 40 Niners are the best 21 in his opinion. Two running backs one tight end two wides. Weird because, well, yeah, good. Well, so the way he's categorizing this, um, because use check is considered one of the best. Pullbacks full backs in the league, so he has used check and most hurt on the field. You can Samuel or your wide receivers and George Kittle. It's tight end. I see it is a runner up on his Vikings, Ravens and Raiders. Vikings. Ravens Raiders. Okay, Yeah, 22. So, So again. You're seeing a little bit of a pattern here because the Raiders are a team that like to have multiple tight ends out there on the field. The Ravens of certainly one of those Ravens would be the best 13 personnel team, and they're the best 22. Yeah, that also make that also which is two running backs, too tight ends one right receiver. He has them as the best 23 the best 13 as well. The 13 I agree with 23. Yeah, that makes more sense to running back three tight ends. Yeah. No receivers and in 13 is one running back three Titans one wide receiver. So teams that really want to just run kind of jumbo out there often, if not with extra tight ends an extra offensive lineman if possible. Dedicated to the run. What would be the best personnel? After all, that? What's the best personnel for the Broncos? The best personnel for the Broncos is One running back..

"You're listening to the Sack Guild show. I am watching a video right now. Of E think it's Yeah, it's Devon White. Devon White is taking a victory lap around Raymond James Stadium. On a horse holding the Lombardi Trophy. That's pretty damn cool. And can you imagine after that day, I'm assuming it happened today. You're on the booze Cruise. When you sober up a little bit. I have to go to the stadium and take a victory lap on a horse with the Lombardi Trophy up in the air. That's awesome. So Devon Devon White. That's how he's gonna end his his offseason. I guess he's a He's a guess he owns horses. Because appreciates his actual horse. His profile picture is him on a road with the horse. Not only that. He's going around. Is this Lambeau Field? I'm not sure what stadium it is, but has gold bleachers. He's riding a horse on a field back in 2018. Maybe Alice you Oh, that's that's where probably is. It's Alice. You a college was this I had to get into Lambeau Field in November, 2080. Yeah. Linebackers for for the bucket here, said some playoff run That's one of the greatest defensive performances that you'll ever see. Think about the I know they played four games, a three game stretch. You went up against three Hall of Fame quarterbacks. Three of the best You ever do it? Not the three best but three of the best to ever do it in my homes, Drew Brees and and Rogers. That defense dominated each and every one of those games. Wolf. Just absurd. Big around the outer parts, by the way, for all your car care needs get guaranteed low prices and excellent customer service and around the auto parts. Better parts. Better prices every day already. Let me get into this Henry rug story. So the Raiders of the gift that just keep on giving So everyone does interviews this time of the year Henry Rugs was on NBC Sports Bay Area. I'm going to read you the quote. When you go through the quote, there's going to be most of the quote that you're going to say I have a damn problem with anything that he just said. You have no problem, But there's one line in there. And this is now what the headline is. And this is what's going viral when I read you the one line You're probably going to be hysterically laughing. So here's the quote from Henry Rugs who just completed his rookie season. The receiver at Alabama who was the first receiver, surprisingly, was the first receiver off the board in this draft. Many thought it was going to be C d. Lamb. Andre or Jerry, Judy and Henry Rugs was the first receiver off the board and the Raiders the last two drafts. Who thought Cleveland Farrah was going? What fourth overall who then thought Henry rugs was going as early as he did. They also had that surprise draft pick in the first round of Damon Arnett, who was Kind of Ah, second or third round projection. And in between, you know either late second or early third, and they took him in the first round. So this is what Henry Rugs had to say after a very disappointing Raider season. Where the Raiders start up the year six and three, and they finished off the year with an eight an eight record. Do you know how hard that is to do? See, I'm gonna give you my top NFL storylines, the top 10 storylines coming up in the top of the hours. We look back on this season. I didn't put the Raiders in the top 10, but I almost wanted to Because it is so Just unbelievably tough to start off the year six and three. And not make the playoffs. Back even as much as we trash the bears. The Bears got off to that start, and even they found the way to still back their way into the postseason. So here is the Henry rugs, quote. Quote. I would never disrespect anyone in this league, but I feel like we definitely have. The team definitely have the pieces, and if we put it together, we showed a knack game. He's talking about the Chiefs game, the one that they wanted, and also you had another one where it was close. That we could compete with anybody, all right? That quote, right? Trace Nothing wrong with that. You don't want to be disrespectful, but in league you definitely believe that you have the team. Even though a lot of people are going to question that you're showing confidence And you think you could compete with anybody. No problem with that. Correct. 100% accurate, Okay? So then he goes on to say I know that one thing we have to do is to stay consistent and focus on the little things and we could be a top contending team. As you would say, 100%. No problem with that. Correctamundo Correctamundo. Now here's the last line. He should have just stopped there. This is not an article knowing gives a rat's ass about this. But now because of the last line this is why this is a talking point, especially here nationally on the sack Help show on CBS Sports Radio. He finishes off this quote by saying, We definitely should have been in the playoffs. So let me dissect this two ways. Is this. We definitely should have been in the playoffs because we started out the year six and three. And we failed to capitalize on that..

"Okay, Let's go back and look at the film on Do you know sometimes learning? What not to do convey as helpful is learning what to do so I'm gonna be a Quincy. Exactly How many times they tempt providence here and think they can get away with a five man rush and blades or whatever. And go man for man on, you know, now, and Kansas City's without the tackle, So okay. Yeah, that that may change the price of poker here. We'll see. On day may think they can get home with their four man rush a little bit better, and they might, but you better get there quick. The problem of the four man rushes lead alleys up the middle is well, no matter how good against unless you get there, quick. So I for one, I'm gonna be very interesting to see how both these defense's begin the game. Not sure you know the 40 Niners just a year ago where? You know a 3rd and 15 away If they gotta stop on 13 15. They may have won the Super Bowl, but they did not, and it ignited Kansas City. And it starts to Jimmy Garoppolo Talk here in the Bay Area incessantly in the 40. Niners lost the Super Bowl. You won the Super Bowl, which Trent Dilfer is your quarterback, And then you made a huge transaction. The off season to get Elvis ger back. So talk about going back to that time when you made that quarterback change and And just give me your thoughts on the 40 Niner quarterback situation is is Jimmy Garoppolo. Good enough in. Obviously last year, he would have been, But as they reassembled now, in the lead the way it is now, is he good enough to win you the big game. Well, that's that's the big question for them. You know how what their faith is in. They see him on a more regular basis. We've we've not seen in Jimmy Garoppolo step up in the big moment. And you can't based on just one game. I get that and leading up to that. He really didn't have to do a lot. And that's not his fault because the defense was so dominant. They were in control of so many games. But that's the thing that you really have to ask yourself. Have we seen enough to think that he can step up in the big moments, and you're right. That's awful. The contrast of you know they're they're half the league literally literally have to leak. 16 teams are gonna be in the market for a quarterback and there's gonna be more quarterback changed. I think we've seen a long, long time because of it looks like a good quarterback draft. There lived a lot more free. We already seen a trade that we very rarely see when you saw God and Stafford swap out with with Los Angeles in Detroit, So I think that's a harbinger of Yeah, This is going to be a little bit different off season there. That's the biggest thing. Okay, if if not grapple, then who? Well, that then who? You know, convict eight. You're what you're going to do next is well, if you don't have already answer that, well, there may be some answers there, and that's what they're gonna have to. That's what they're gonna have to decide for me. Garoppolo just you know, I just I don't seem stepping up the big moments. That's the thing that concerns me the most. Brian Billick is joining a Super Bowl head winning head coach from the Ravens popping one here on the SportsCenter. Maybe it's always been this way because you guys obviously in 98 with Culpepper and Moss and Jake Reed and Robert Smith. You guys had this great offense, but you look at Kansas City and just the amount of offense that they can generate. All the rules are in favor the offense. Do you have to have one of those guys? You know one of those quarterbacks, you guys. Obviously the defense would Trent Dilfer. That is that is obviously not the norm. But these days do you have to have that that quarterback to get you there to win it? Yeah. Because of the number of good quarterbacks. You have to go through. On day, so you better be able to match up that have to be a Hall of Famer didn't have to be an all time great, but he's got to be good. He's got to be able TOC TOC, manipulate the offense and take the low hanging fruit. And by that, I mean, just be efficient money does. You'd like one that could make special place outside the design of the offense. There's only so many of those, but depending upon IU configured, you better have competency at that position, or you're gonna have a tough time getting through the gauntlet off what is typically Ah, good quarterbacks getting to the Super Bowl. Right. We talk about your ex tech shoulder pads all the time. It's awesome. Love that you're on to talk about him. Tell us and until the people who haven't heard the X Tex shoulder pads and why they're so great Yes, We've been at it eight years now, and I think about the first starting up with it, and that was their number one pad in the National Football League and deservedly so it's a very special path. They're basically form fitted. And now we have eight years worth of data to put together. You know, in the old days was your big linemen, you big path. If your little D b, you get a little pat Well, now it's almost forfeited based on age injury, history, height, weight position, all those things that come into you know, making it the most functional pad on the markets. Why the number one pattern Leigh majority of players on both teams will be an expected this Sunday. Among college game as well. Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Ohio State, all replete with expect that they're available with high school students now and you've got to get your players a coach Well, and you gotta get him protected in the best way to protect them is to put in the next backpack. Yeah, they are awesome. By the way, it's It's always funny when you look back years and years ago at how big the shoulder pads were, like everything gigantic shoulder pads. I didn't know how the guys ran like I saw Barry Sanders in Oklahoma State and like my God, How did bear even run? He's like 5, ft seven. He's got a giant pads on It's amazing how little change there actually have been. Amazing X deck shoulder pads. Brian Billick, by the way, it says here used Coach 21 for 10% off in order. Check him out X TEX shoulder pads, Brian. It's always so great to co to catch up with you and get your knowledge. We really appreciate it. Thanks. That's great. Thank you. Coach Brian Billick was looking. I was watching something the other day. And it was an Oklahoma State old uncle mistaking game and Barry Sanders had these gigantic shoulder pads on like my God, I was mentioning this the hole or I mean, I get nothing but watch, uh, NFL network. We played every Super Bowl 30 minute version, So I watched every single one back and It's miss certain positions. Guys just like linebacker said Huge, huge shoulder pads. You know, the one guy who's shoulder pads. He kept him small was Bill Romanowski. That's right. You did not have. He did not have huge shoulder pads or Bill could hit you and I When I look at Bill D. Smith, by the way is sitting down with the commissioner. That be interesting, huh? I think Bill being you know as the classic Sam, Strong side linebacker, you know, jam and tight ends, but he could drop and cover. Better than I remember. You know, they could also physical in the box and playing down. It was also a great special teams players. So yeah. Roma was the one guy out there that were probably ahead of his time with the X Tech. Smaller pads, the lighter ones, But back then, I mean, just humongous shoulder pads. I mean everybody on the field. We got a little bit of time. We got about a half hour until we'll talk to Henry Rugs. Wide receiver for the of Raiders will get you caught up on the latest will slip into mortars as they have the Mavericks tonight. Plus, there's an interesting story around the orders. "All right, take a break coming up in about a minute. Daniel Kilgore, the former center for the 40. Niners sent out a profile pic and I think he's kidding. But it's of like half a haircut on his head. And they said that the barber who tested positive the chief's barber, They told him mid haircut of Kilgore that he had tested positive so they made him stop the haircut. So Kilgore had half a haircut. You can't do rookie hazing and he's not a rookie anymore. He said that he's the backup center, so I think I'll be good to go for the game and the wide receiver. Marcus Robinson had 20 tweets chiefs players and staffers scheduled, including the homies to get in that chair. Did you get a negative covert tests from your barber before your blooming yesterday? "And in 2020 is certainly a typical. There's never a dull moment. It's become a calendar around the you know, around the calendar year event, really with the NFL. There is never a dull moment with this sport. Well, The thing that you know the league is mastered, is obviously dragging out the off season and dragging out Events, whether it's training camp or minicamp, R O T A's or the combine with the draft or whatever, Um throughout the year and really the only time in which there is any downtime. Is from the 15th of July. I'm sorry, the 15th of June the 15th of July. That's it. So I think the same thing plays out on Sunday. There really is no downtime and with everything happening at once. I mean, I know that I go to work almost every Sunday morning. Rather better said I come home almost every Sunday night. Saying there are 5 to 6 things that happened during the afternoon that never in a million years. Would I have for any of us could have forecast and that's the beauty of having all the games on Sunday, and that's all that That's the beauty as well. Of the show that we do. Because everything is done simultaneously. Fantastic is the best reality show on TV, Your boys? Yeah, you know Andrew Siciliano from NFL Network also from direct TV in that red Zone channel that you really are the personality delivering all of those crazy story lines. It's great to catch up with you Enjoy the Super Bowl. Thanks for a couple of minutes. Maybe it's been too long. Good luck shoveling. Stay warm. Oh, yes, well, Inger and I remember the days of snow at Syracuse. In fact, it snowed on graduation day, so it's not one that we could easily forget. But this is not Lake effect. Snow in my New Jersey neighborhood. Andrew rubbing it in a little bit because Los Angeles obviously not dealing with any snow, but cool to have him on the show for the first time, and he points to some of the memorable moments of the 2020 season. Certainly the Alex Smith we agree on, but he mentions that Henry rugs touchdown catch with the zero coverage. By the New York Jets is back when they were still attempting to win their first game of the season. Man that certainly lit up the NFL. Remember what weekend? That was what a week of the NFL season it was, but that was a moment. How about the Hail Mary slash Murray, in which the Cardinal stunned the bills? And then what? Did they not lose again until the city championship? I mean, it was quite a run for the bills and what a spark that game that stunning lost provided for them in the death. Heard so ah, lot of memorable moments. What ones That sounds awkward, Which ones stand out in your mind now coming up in 25 minutes, We'll talk to Trent Green, Former Chiefs Pro Bowl quarterback who is still based in Kansas City, but straight ahead. "To think about it, and that's that's too much of a side track for me right now, who you know, saving can put his name. He can comfortably go into a room. If somebody says Hey, the greatest coaches in sports air in this room, he can walk into the room and find a seat at the table. Okay. Uh, the big debate on Twitter last night is s somehow the game became What should the Jets do? It number 20. My gosh. I was amazed because they made it seem like Oh, OK, Now we've seen enough of Devante Smith. What happens is ah, lot of times. People don't watch. You know these players during the regular season And then all of a sudden they act like a genius. They go. Oh, my God. You've seen this guy, this Smith guy in Alabama. Yeah. Yeah, he's been doing it all season long. The jet should take him Number two. Overall. Also based off last night is when now Now you've seen enough with Devante Smith. Was it the previous game or the previous game or the priest? Yeah, So now they're talking about Devante. Smith, who wasn't even on the list for Heisman candidates to start the year wasn't even considered the best wide receiver on his own team to start the season. It's almost like this meteoric rise like Joe Borough had way we've seen this recently. Where you go. Wow. Where did this guy come from? Mean, Joe Burrow came out of nowhere. He was going to be targeted as 1/5 round rap pick. Right fifth round draft pick. Then he's number one pick overall. Devante Smith. Nobody knew him. Or at least you knew him. But you know, you thought all well you know, they've had Judy and rugs and waddle and you know this other guy Devante Smith as well. And then all of a sudden he becomes the featured guy. And then wins the Heisman Trophy. But what I take him number one overall, I'd have to know a whole lot more about him. Number two number two. Overall, I'd have to know a whole lot more about him and what the Jets are going to do. If the Jets stay with Sam Darnel, then you take the Vontae Smith. Is Jamaar Chase member Jamaar Chase didn't play this year. He's the L S U wide receiver. And was widely considered the best receiver coming into college football this year. Is he better than Devante Smith? Is he different than Devante Smith? When you have that wide receiver You can get open in college. Can't always get open in the NFL. Now they do jet sweeps. They do all of those things to try to give you a little bit more room to maneuver very thin, Very small. Um, but you got to get your hands on. And if you don't Then you're in trouble because he'll make you pay. He made a corner. He turned the corner last night. It just simple route. He turned the corner. There. Three guys. They're from Ohio State, and he ran right by them. And they had the angle. There's nobody else in college football who has that now we've seen other players have unbelievable speed. What he does, and the scout said to me last night as we're watching. Because he said, he sent me a note he goes. This isn't fair. And I said What is in fair he goes. Devante is just not fair. And he said he reminds me of Chad ochocinco in running routes, he said. What will be lost when guys run fast? Nobody ever talks about. Do they run a route? How do they run their routes? It's just like Henry rugs can run by you, but I don't know if he could be a great football player. Jerry Judy did not play well for Denver this year. These were all very talented Alabama wide receivers, but what separates Devante Smith from them from what? I was told his ability to run around. And run a crisp route. And I said, Well, could he be Steve Largent and Bob Hayes? And he said, his ability to run around like Steve Largent, who is as good around runners we've ever had And then Bob Hayes's as fast as anybody who's ever played the position. Hey, said he has that ability. That hybrid of I could end any settees humble. Said one of the traits nobody ever talks about what Devante Smith is. He's humble said Did you see him celebrate at all any of his touchdown last night? Maybe celebrate. Does he do any of that? He just He plays football. He's an entertaining. He's an entertaining football player. He's not an entertainer. There's a difference now. I don't know what he's gonna be like when he gets to the NFL, but what you see and what you saw, According to this NFL scout who's the source? You said he's humble. Goes out there in place. He does all he does everything that you want a player to do. He's not a star. He doesn't act like a star, and he said, that's very attractive. When you're trying to put together a game plan, he might be a decoy. At some point when it gets to the NFL, like you've got to be ready for a variety of things when you get to the NFL, But he said, it seems like he is equipped to get ready for that next step. But give credit to him because he is a unbelievable route Runner. Yeah, I always worry when again like you said he's got more than just speed when speed is the number one thing, and when someone's wispy, wiry, I get worried. You know, there's players like Hey, von Austin. I thought this would be fantastic. So did I. And then he wasn't. But then Tyree kill is fantastic. Henry rugs looks okay. Out of Alabama. He's got lots of speed..

Football Four: Tua Tagovailoa's injury changes outlook

"We can obviously the big story is to a tie willow in his his it injury the thing is is that I is I continue to look at this but I I don't think the mag Jones is going to be too and that's it in second round but because of the the research hi I'm looking to receiver corps and and other than the NFL who salivating to get their hands on these days but I mean before we can help them out divide days with Jerry Judy Henry rugs Jaylen waddle obviously not shares in back then they've always got two or three or four backs they just have so much talent don't I I would caution against county Alabama out because two is out he's great but they have so much talent you never know what it that's the thing I mean it it's going to be up to Steve scar us our ski thirty the in the off the corner next they've been a head coach the come up and have to alter game because to work with such a good quarterback who can beat you with his arm and it's and he and his feet now they got a they got to work on those running backs get the ball to them and also you know what put those put the ball right what is why receivers are they going to do is catch up can't catch the ball and take off around with it don't don't count Alabama now but they're going to help a tough hill to climb try to get into the top four in the college football
