"Have a championship. I don't think he'll be taking any chances during the playoffs. So right now, I think that there's just so much going on with even the safety of this car. The wreck that we saw with Kyle Larson and Ryan Preece was super scary. And you could tell that Kyle Larson was a little concerned getting out of the car. And then you see the slo-mo, Ryan Preece, and you know, you kind of realize that these guys do, you know, take a chance every week, and then you see a broken vertebra. I mean, it's not like he has a broken finger, you know? Yeah. For a driver that miss time last year because of a concussion as well. Yeah, yeah, throw that in there too. It's just, it's an interesting time for the sport. I haven't ever been too concerned with safety. You know, I've been watching for 12 years. It's never been a thing, whether it's outside of NASCAR racing or just in the current car. And it's just, it's a different feel man, I was just thinking to myself, like, hey, have Kyle Busch to win the championship now too, but you know, if he's racing some of these other things, like if you do that in the playoffs, you're done. You're not moving on. So do we factor that in? Probably not. But I think that's in the back of your mind. If you're going to build in some of these off track endeavors, the one driver that would impact more than anybody else would be, of course, Kyle Larson. Because he'll race anywhere anytime, anything. And that's just how he's wired. I think as soon as you kind of take that opportunity away from him, the 5 loses that competitive edge and the fire that's out there. But, you know, we'll continue to monitor, and we hope Alex Bowman gets better and gets back in a car. We were excited about his prospects this weekend. One of the drivers that we were going to focus on, knowing what he's been able to do in the past when it comes to Dover. When you look at some of the other numbers we've seen so far this season, Hendrick motor sports has led 36% of the laps, Kyle Larson represents 18% of those. GGR behind them at 16% Stewart Haas racing in that same ballpark, but as terms of trying to identify drivers that have shown consistency, hey, look, I'll tip my hat to Christopher Bell because JGR as a team hasn't been overly strong. When we look at his teammate in Denny Hamlin, you know, Larry Mac brought that up and said, we need to see more out of Denny and Talladega was rinse and repeat. The finishing position for Denny Hamlin this year has not been consistent with where he's running. But when we talk about surprises and disappointments, we got Larry's take last week, curious to pick your brain a little bit. And here with some of your thoughts are with another race under our belt. Well, you know, when is Ryan Blaney going to get his win? You know, I think that he's in a non points paying race at North Wilkesboro. Yeah, well, I don't think that because there's going to be a lot of tire fall off. I don't think that I think he might be fast for about 5 laps and then he is going to drop to the rear. But yeah, I think that the biggest surprise I would say is still, I mean, I know a Kyle has two wins, but I still don't think he's in any position to win the championship. I think the championship still needs speed at the end of the day, you have to be fast. And so far, the speed that we've seen has come from primarily two cars. And that's the 5 and the 24. I'm shocked at how much better they are than the field. I think that it's been what an incredible run by those two guys. And looking forward, we have Dover, Kansas Darlington, Charlotte. I mean, that sounds like Hendrix Phil. I think that you could see those guys each win two of those next races. And then gateway is a little bit of an unknown and then Sonoma, where Kyle Larson has been dominant the last two years had a little bit of an issue last year, but I think we could see a few more wins out of Hendrick in these next 5 races and I don't know where Blaney wins. I don't know where he gets that win. Yeah, I mean, you mentioned William Byron and obviously his current run of form isn't anything to write home about, but it's not what have you done for me lately business. You look at the full body of work. Still being priced like an elite driver and you can understand why is he second in terms of the Cup Series behind only Kyle Larson in laps raced inside the top 5 this year through the first ten races. So clearly nothing to be worried about. Obviously when we talk about Hendrick motor sports, they're doing all of this with their leader in the Clubhouse essentially and chase Elliott as far as selling tickets and selling merch, but Kyle Larson, we know not exactly going to play second fiddle to anybody, but wanted to pick your brain a little bit there. We'll have a chance to revisit a lot of these topics going forward every week gives us another data point. And after this week, ever so close to the one third of the season mark that we'll get to after 12 races. "You need help with those bonus picks, those head to head match ups. Come on over to Toby Christie dot com, check out rowdy dragon's NASCAR fantasy sports book. I'm tearing down those head to heads to see if we can't figure out what direction to go with those guys. So come on over, check it out. Toby Christie dot com. Okay, that does it for today. And as usual, thanks for hanging out and listening to the final app weekly fantasy segment of the show. I am rowdy dragon. I'll talk to you again next week. There you go, rowdy dragon with his expertise on Talladega super speedway black. The dragon is breathing hot fire for Talladega super speedway. Blah. Absolutely, absolutely. So I think that's it. I think we're ready. I think everyone's got what they need for this weekend. We've done what we need to do. We're ready for this thing. And I'm excited. This is going to be a much different race than what we saw this past weekend. And I think this is one that's going to be a little bit of a barn burner, hopefully as long as they don't decide to run around the top for a good portion of the race. Edge of your seat the whole time, that's what I love about Talladega. You never know. One person makes one little error and it could be just by putting their car in a spot two inches away from where they were supposed to be. And it changes the entire complexion of the race. Checkered flag is flying on the show. This has been the final app weekly catches next week right here. When we will recap the racing at Talladega Superspeedway and preview, this is the best trophy at NASCAR Dover. Miles the monster is back. That's awesome. We went to Hendrick motor sports recently. And my wife remembered that that's your favorite trophy, because there was one of the monsters. Isn't that the one that carry really likes? I was like, yeah, and she's like, oh, that's cool. Well, at least it's cool. All right, good. Toby, you and I. Well, chat next week. We sure will. We sure will.

Larson pulls away from Logano to win at Martinsville
"Kyle Larson picked up his first ever win at Martinsville speedway holding off Joey Logano to bring home one of the coolest trophies in NASCAR, the Martinsville grandfather clock. I'm not in the clocks or anything like that. So being that it's a clock doesn't add any significance to me, but I think every time you look at it and you look at it, it'll remind me of the ten years of struggling. I've had here. Larson led the funnel 30 left of the race after Logano stayed out with old tires on the late caution. He said he could no longer keep Larson's Hendrick motor sports own. Number 5 car behind him. He caught me so quick and there's still 25, 30 to go, and I was like, I don't have a chance here, but I'll make it wide for a while. The wind also marks the first time the number 5 has won at Martinsville since 1984, finishing third was Martin Truex Junior. I'm Jerry Jordan.

"Close to getting out of the car 'cause I thought I was gonna faint, so I must have drank 8 bowls of water and I bought some water in the race and the team kept me calm. We got reasonably good result at the end so I was happy. We talk a lot about our drivers athletes. I think our NASCAR drivers, athletes, we saw from an F one driver today on a hot day in Austin, Texas. These guys are athletes. And I know you were listening to buttons radio as well, and you kind of heard that progression through the race too. Yeah, listen to it, especially at the end of the race, and it was really intriguing what he said because he goes, he mentioned to his team, he says, he's cut drivers are on it every second of the race. And he also goes on to call the race a roller coaster saying, quote, a whole F one season in one race. And so it was a hard day for him. I think at the end of the way it came out, I think you'll look back on palm this fondly. Obviously, this is not the last time that we're going to see him. We'll see him in Chicago. He'll be there and he'll also do the indie road course. So he's got two more races left with this Rick ware ride with the partnership with Stewart Haas racing. So as he gets a little bit more experience, maybe gets another better performance, he could top this 18th. Can you get a top 15? Can I get a top ten? If things work out. But that after the race is immediate reaction was kind of appreciation and enjoying the experience. I think is a good sign for him and for the NASCAR fans. I think a lot of people when I tweeted out were really appreciative that he looked at it that way and we're looking forward to seeing him come back and race again later this year. Yeah, it would be great to see him the Chicago street course race very curious to see how an F one driver does in the first NASCAR Cup Series street race ever. That'll be entertaining. Well, it certainly felt like probably a full NASCAR season for some of these drivers as well, Dustin with the extended overtime. And we were talking before we got started here. This is the pretty much the quarter pole of the regular season. When you look at where some of these guys are positioned in the points, I think to me the guy really jumps out Dustin is Carl Larsen finishes 14th today and is now 27th in the point standings and granted a lot of that is because of the penalty that Hendrick motor sports got for its hood loopers at Phoenix that's going to be the appeal will be heard soon this week. So that could change. But to me, what's interesting here is where Kyle Larson is relative to his other teammates. I mean, he's 5 spots behind William Byron. He's 11 spots behind Alex Bowman, where I feel like, you know, again, depending on what happens with the appeal, I feel like if at this point you're outside the top 20 top 25 in points, it's gonna be pretty hard to make the playoffs on points, especially if there are as many winners or close to it as there were last year. I almost feel like Kyle Larson might be getting into must win territory, not that he can't win. He can win in anything. And Hendrick motor sports has had the fastest cars this year, but it's interesting to me that that team is not off to the kind of start they would want to have either. Well, just think about this if the appeal goes against hendrik later this week and they don't get those hundred points back that at what point are you entering a mess when a situation for multiple drivers at Hendrick? I mean, I think everybody expects it to be a obviously a must win situation for chase Elliott to make the playoffs because he's going to miss so many races. What if Larson has a couple of bad races here the next couple of weeks and falls further back, then you have, you know, essentially the last two cup champions for Hendrick motor sports in must win situations, the rest of the regular season. I'm not as worried about Larsen at this point because of the speed. Again, it's interesting, you know, you think about the two wins that William Byron has, you know, those were situations where Larsen was strong and Byron beat him on a restart. If they split that, then at least Kyle's got that win. I think another thing that's just as big in a sense is William Byron, although it is in a better situation with the winds, he doesn't have those playoff points at least as of right now because they lost those ten playoff points in the penalty. I want to see what this appeal does and see what happens here but I like the speed that Hendrick cars have and let me see who else can close the gap if others can and how that happens the next few weeks. I think it'll be an interesting stretch here. We're getting into the short track season with Richmond next. You got the Bristol dirt race, which you're going to put Tyler Reddick, Kyle Larson, Christopher Bell. I'm sure most people are going to have those three on their fantasy teams going into that race just because of their dirt background and what they can do there. So I think Larsen's got some opportunities coming up. If he falters, it could get a little interesting especially if they don't win that appeal this week. It does get interesting, but he does have some opportunities, like you said, ask her just had its first road course of the season with coda. Next week for short track of the season with Richmond Raceway

"Back to the NASCAR R&D center after seeing something. And after looking at it, they have determined that, yes, they've been altered. So Chad canals did something here. You know he did. He was very quiet about it when somebody asked him about it. So the number 5 Hendrick motor sports team driven by Kyle Larson the number 9 usually driven by Chase Elliott now driven by Josh berry and his in his exit right now. The 24 of William Byron, which is one of the last two races and the number 48 of Alex Bowman. All four crew chiefs for these teams will be suspended for the next four NASCAR Cup Series events and 31 crew chief for Justin Haley, Trent Owens will also be find a $100,000 and suspended for the next four events. $100,000 for all that's 5 $100,000 right there in penalties. And for suspended races for all 5 of those crew chiefs and each team and driver will lose a hundred points and ten NASCAR playoff points as well. So what you've essentially done is you've lost the benefit of William Byron's two wins right there. The ten points, the ten playoff points, he just accumulated. For those two wins, are now gone. Now the hundred point sounds huge, but these days it doesn't matter, right? It doesn't matter much, but if you get into a situation where you don't have a win, which only one of these Hendrick cars currently has a win, the colleague car doesn't have a win. It's put you in a pretty precarious spot if you can't get a win. You're not gonna be able to point your way in very easily, like Ryan Blaney did last year. You're gonna have to have a win. You would think with a hundred point penalty, especially for the 31 colleague team. I don't see them pointing their way in. With a hundred point penalty. So there's going to have to be a victory on the book somewhere for Justin Haley. Alex Bowman, chase Elliott when he returns, but he already knew he needed to win. So that's no big deal for him. And Kyle Larson and the number 5. So there's going to have to be a win for these guys down the road. If only they were running really well, that is the thing they'll take solace in because after the hood loopers were taken away. They all four cars in the top ten and you said dominated the race. They should be okay.

"Of the field and then to have the 48 kind of round out that top three was a very significant message to the rest of NASCAR. Like, hey, these cookie cutters, these one and a half miles, we're going to own them this year. Now, the one thing that will be different is it's not going to be 55 in cold. And when it's cold like that, there's a lot more grip in the race car and those Chevys could just hug the bottom. And there was not a lot of multiple group racing last week. I actually think that Phoenix could start to widen out, especially if it gets warm. Guys are going to start searching for grip. And then we'll find out what these Chevys have when it comes to handling of the race car. Now, I'm super high on Kyle Larson. He was arguably the best cart Fontana, even though we saw an abbreviated race from him. And then to see him follow that up with a pretty spectacular performance, almost a race winning performance at Las Vegas. In his only competitors were teammates. So something is going on with Hendrick motor sports that's definitely headed the right direction. And I anticipate I anticipate Larsen to probably be best, but Byron, if he qualifies well, he loves to stay up front and mix it up for the win. Bowman, he's a guy that can kind of qualify anywhere. And still work his way through the field at least better than Bowman. But I anticipate the 5 qualifying in the top 5 and kind of hanging around there all day. If we stay in the Chevy camp two other drivers worth considering priced again, depending on which book upwards of 11 or 12 to one as low as ten to one would be Kyle Busch and Ross Chastain. Kyle enters Phoenix with 13 top 7 finishes, including 9 of them coming in the top four over his last 15 tries. 2018 and again in 2019, he was first or second in both of those events. We've seen how well he can race at this particular track. Meanwhile Ross Chastain finished second and third he respectively and his two Phoenix starts a year ago. The only thing that makes me somewhat Leary is the fact that he was only 19th and 18th at Richmond and loud and so Phoenix, again, very good there. But on some of the loose comps didn't exactly perform at a time. Kyle Busch. By the way, he can win anywhere. Obviously, off to a good start. I know that if you look at last week at Vegas, he struggled in practice. And I thought, to be honest, I thought when I bet Kyle Larson over Kyle Busch as practice was kind of kicking off, that I was going to beat the market by 50 or 60 cents. And I was wrong. Because Kyle just figured out a way to qualify qualify Larson and kind of keep it in the top ten all day, even though he looked terrible in practice. So I don't know if that's him just getting the best out of his car or if actually these RCR Chevys were just a tick or two off of the HMS Chevys. But obviously Kyle Busch can win and also when it comes to Kyle Busch and Kyle Larson, if these guys qualify well and look good in practice, you will see them be the favorites almost every week. So if you can kind of steal a number on them earlier in the week upwards of ten to one, I don't think that that's a bad idea. When it comes to the 8 car. Now, when you talk about Ross Chastain, I think where Ross Chastain is at his success at Phoenix, he's super aggressive on restarts. And we know that this is an ongoing theme with this one car. But Phoenix offers a very interesting restart, not restart zone, but after you cross that start finish line, this is the widest track on earth. And you can get ten or 11 wide. And when you have an aggressive restart, like Ross Chastain, who understands that you have to make your ground up in the first 5 laps of a restart, otherwise it's really hard to make a pass. He's going to put even more emphasis on it. I think that's why we've seen him have so much success at this track. At least last year. I do think Chastain will be around all weekend. Of course he will be. But I would look for him to make up most of those ground on restarts and then kind of hang on to a position. I don't know that his long run speed has been there, but certainly short run with his aggressive restarts. Be interesting to see, I mean, when you look at Phoenix not exactly a track known for ridiculous finishes or a lot of these things going into multiple green white checkered overtimes and everything else that comes along with it. So we'll see if we get some sustained green flag runs late in the best cars can win out. But it doesn't mean you won't get a caution with 20 to go and to your point. You can see a driver taking aggressive approach to go from 6 to first if he feels that he can drive down on the apron, take advantage of the dog leg and look to put himself in a position to come from off the pace.

"For sure? Sure. It does. And I think that anyone that maybe reads into much about the bell Chastain Jones, Keselowski Logano and Stenhouse actually testing this package. I know that the package is slightly different than what they tested, but also it's going to be like 30° warmer. I think for the first time, we're going to see a hot slick track. We haven't seen it in Fontana. We didn't see it in Las Vegas. And that's why I think that those cars that were hooked up on the bottom, those Hendrick motor sports cars last week. That was the fastest way around. The hotter the slick of the track, guys are going to be searching for grip. They weren't able to do that as much during the testing, which was I believe 45 days ago or something like that. So it was not as warm. We've had a super, super cold winter. So this is the first day that we're going to see in the 80s will be Sunday. So I think you're going to don't read too much into the fact that those guys have actually had some on track testing because you throw 36 cars on the track and you ratchet up that temperature. You're going to get completely different racing. Well, I can tell you oddsmakers aren't exactly clear in terms of who should be the driver to beat this weekend because depending on the shop when you look around the betting market, ten to 12 drivers widely priced as low as 8 to one upwards of 12 to one, and they're all the most prominent names in the sport. No, this isn't a super speedway, but as far as odds makers are concerned, they don't want to create any numerical advantage at least until they have their heads wrapped around the kind of racing that they'll expect. The one thing that we could take away from last year was that Ford flat out dominated Phoenix a season ago. They Ford drivers led 89%, 558 of 624 laps. That were run here in 2022, including 248 of the 312 in the spring race, and 310 of the 312 in the fall installment. Team Penske obviously disappointed with how they performed last week in Las Vegas, qualifying was great. We saw Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano go off as co favor to some of the most prominent books, but they drop like rocks through the field. When you look at these two drivers going into this weekend, Joey Logano went off at four to one in the fall. We knew that because he was one of the championship four. Ryan Blaney goes off at 60 to one. Both of these drivers now priced at 8 to one this weekend and I don't even know what the hell is the sponsor is for this race and quite frankly they don't care. Well, I would say the pricing for the championship race you have to take with a grain of salt because Ryan Blaney was the fastest car in the fall. I don't even think it was close. And I think that he just did his teammate a huge favor and basically the one car buffer between Joey Logano and the contender and Ross Chastain trying to make that pass. Not one car pass Ryan Blaney last year in the fall, not one. I mean, he passed everybody. He was leading by. I would say three or four seconds when that final caution came out. Joey wins the race off pit road. Ryan Blaney just went out there and just blocked for his teammate. I think that that's I don't even think it was team orders, but it was like one of those things where he knew what he had to do. So I was very afraid. Very F one as they take shots at that sport multiple times and over the course of this time. I do think that if all things kind of remain the same and the reduction in down force is systematic across all of these teams, which it should be and you're just looking at just the handling has gone away by 30% and it doesn't change much else. I still expect these two guys to be very fast. Ryan Blaney, if you look at his 8 to one price, I mean, I'm not getting involved at that price right now, but I could see him unloading very fast in practice and qualifying well. And then being a 6 to one car, where I would absolutely back him at 6 to one if he looks good in practice and qualifying the body of work that he put together last year. He was the best car in the spring, made a mistake, had to go to the rear. And then basically let his teammate win the race in the championship last year. I am a little bit more bullish on Blaine than I am Logano. I'm not going to put too much emphasis on what we saw last week. I think that was a little bit of an anomaly, but if it happens again, I will make note and prepare myself for future races when these two guys open it as co favorites. Well, I mean, we can't ignore their third teammate who was actually the top performing member of the Penske stable last weekend in Las Vegas and actually the top finishing overall. That, of course, being Austin Cedric, who sees himself at a long shot price tag this weekend. He was 11th in the fall race, coming off of a top ten finish last week, three straight top two results in the Xfinity series. So he does have a little bit of track record of performing well at Phoenix, but I'm not sure he's going to factor into any of the calculation as a legitimate threat to win this weekend. Maybe crash the top ten or a guy if he unloads quickly. The one thing about sender does he does qualify well. If you're interested in playing a number, I think we've seen some 70 to ones on him.

"Colleague and racing analyst Chris wormy and worms are I got a beef and a bone to pick with you before we even get into some NASCAR stuff. So you don't know where I'm going with that. So I'm going to catch you by surprise. So I get a very nice thank you note in the mail from you and your lovely wife for the gift that we gave you and you guys tied the knot. Thankfully, outside of NASCAR season, I get a beautiful picture of everybody in the wedding party. I'm nowhere to be found. I must have been standing behind you in the picture was taken or you conveniently edited me out. I feel cheated that I wasn't prominently featured there. And once again, further supports you actually believe what you say. I have a face better for radio and podcasting than I do. You know what? That wasn't even me. That was Jenna. She said, you know what? We can't have Todd in this picture. And so she did all the editing herself. Now I don't know. I didn't even realize you weren't in the picture there. Unbelievable. I'm looking at this thing. You know, my better half is poking around, she goes, I don't think you're in the picture and she goes, nope, I can see you. You're right in the middle of worm and Jenna in the back because I can see what looks to be your suit jacket. So I know my place more often than not. And I'm perfectly fine. You want a funny story about that. We initially thought that the card or the very generous gift that you had given us was from someone else. And I'm like, no, we're not. We're not even better. Are you kidding me? And she goes, oh no, it's from Todd to go, oh, we're cashing that shit for sure then. Well, I appreciate that. I'm glad to check. And I'm glad to check for $8 and 78 cents. Didn't bounce. And it was all going to be predicated on your NASCAR performance this season. Above all else, but we obviously have a lot of ground to cover. For those folks new to this day green podcast stage one, all about what we've seen last week in a storyline that broke after we recorded last week that I think is worth us touching on because it'll have major ramifications or potentially can on the season long pricing to win the 2023 NASCAR series championship. Stage two and interview with Brian Murphy that I think a lot of folks are going to enjoy Murph one of the better follows on Twitter in the NASCAR community. Open and willing to answer any questions that you have about the space. So we try to peel back the curtain about the new down force package that will be unveiled at Phoenix and get his general thoughts about the state of NASCAR and what we've seen so far this season. And of course, stage three, where we'll deep dive the race that is essentially your home track at Phoenix international raceway this weekend. But where my note was profitable for us Sunday, unfortunately, we couldn't get the top ten on Ryan Blaney home that we gave out in the state green podcast. Thankfully, the matchup or relative rocking chair with Eric Almirola, finishing on the lead lap, Ricky Stenhouse, I think, is still trying to cross the finish line somewhere north of Las Vegas at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. But I have to ask, sometimes we can confuse a variety of things. It's better as we go, yeah, it was a good race because it was profitable for us. But I have to ask you as a NASCAR fan separate your betting portfolio from everything else. Did you feel that was a good racing product that we saw on display in the Pennzoil 400? Okay, so from if you wanted drama, you did get it towards the end, but I would say that the meat of the race was fairly boring. If there weren't cautions or stage breaks, I think we see Byron get out to like a 5 or 6 second lead and just kind of a snoozer. I think that there were a lot of people that were upset about the Alma roller caution. Obviously we were because Blaney was running tent at that point. But whether it was a caution or not, I don't know. Everything that happens with a sport, I kind of have to look at it through the lens as well, safety first, but also how do we make money from it? And if there's going to be a caution late, okay, if we're still doing the live betting thing, okay, how do I make money from this? And you can't really control when they're going to throw the cost or not. I think you're wasting energy if you're angry or not angry or whatever, when they throw the caution, I've just learned that you never know what it's going to come out. From a racing standpoint, I do the one thing I did like about this race, I do think that the two best cars were racing for the win at the end. And I always like seeing good cars that were set up well. These crews spend a lot of time as we talk to Brian Murphy, and you're going to see how much he knows about the sport and everything that goes into it. These guys spend a lot of time and effort trying to set up these good cars and it still takes an element of luck to make them to get them to victory lane. It's not just a foregone conclusion if you're the fastest car. So I did like the fact that the two fastest cars were racing for the win. But yeah, I could see how it would be a little boring. In those middle 150 laps or so. Well, I mean, what we saw in that quote unquote boring race was HMS dominance. Third time Hendrick motor sports has finished one two three in a Cup Series event. Quick work by William Byron's pit crew and able to 24 to get out front beating Kyle Larson off pit road for that overtime restart with ultimately led to the lead. Leaders all took two tires and Larsen just flat out won the race, ends up leading a 176 laps. Obviously, we saw those two cars really distance themselves from everybody else. Alex Bowman a distance third. But more importantly for the fan of Hendrick motor sports and NASCAR in general, one of their teammates was unable to race and that, of course, was chase Elliott. More information has come out about his unfortunate snowboarding incident that kept him off the track on Sunday. It looks like he's going to miss 6 weeks in total. But I'm not here to talk about drivers, the choices they make off the track versus the commitment on the team. I've never been behind the wheel of a car.

"With Laura saint LA Bowman. Of course, totally understandable, given that Josh Barry had never driven a next gen car before in a Cup race. This was his debut at next gen, so finishing 29th, you know, like you said, he's just trying to move the ball forward, just keep the seat warm. And we learned today that Hendricks have to decide tomorrow on who's racing Phoenix because they have to put the seat in the car when it goes out the Phoenix. But I want to go back to what you said Kyle, about how it might be different for drivers today because we've seen this recently in 8 years ago, Kyle Busch broke his leg and had a foot problem after that Daytona Xfinity rec, he missed three months and he comes back and wins the championship in 15. I don't know how much sim work maybe played into that, but that's certainly I think a good kind of parallel to what chase Elliott's probably I mean it's pretty much the same generation even though a different car do you think that maybe bodes well for chase? Oh, definitely, definitely. Because we know, listen, we know how severe Kyle's injuries were. His injuries were to his lower legs and his ankles were, those were bad, bad injuries. Chase's injuries are to his lower leg. It's not into his foot. It's not into his feet. It's not into multiple bones. At least that's not been the report. It just seems to be the tibia, I guess. It's what they're talking. Now, I don't know how severe that is. Again, but it seems to be a little bit more concentrated in one area than what Kyle Busch's were. So I do think bodes well. For chase Elliott, to miss X number of races and be able to come back and get in that car and be able to go out. And listen, and we know he can go and win races, just like we knew Kyle Busch could. We're not talking about and I'm not this is not a criticism on any other team. But we're not talking about a Michael McDowell. We're not talking about an Eric Jones. We're not talking about some of these teams that can win races and have one races, but they're specific races. They don't contend week in and week out. We're talking about a Hendrick car and a driver that wins weekend or can contend weekend and week out. And even if you only give him 6 shots that went in the race, he's got a shot at all 6 of those, not like some other teams that just have a shot at one. I understand what you're saying too about the waiver. And I totally think, you know, 5 times most popular driver, they've given a waiver to virtually everyone who's ever applied for a waiver. I fully expect that they're going to regret this request from Hendrick motor sports for a waiver. And I'm with you. Like, I don't want to come off like Joe fan on SiriusXM NASCAR radio saying that these guys should be told what to do with every minute of their lives because they make millions of dollars driving a cup car. But I am curious Kyle, what do you think? This is what struck me about the chase Elliott news. So this injury happens Friday morning. And it happens in Colorado. Several hundred miles away from where Chase Elliott is practicing and qualifying a cup car the next day at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. So do you have any issue at all with the optics of that? I know that these guys should be allowed to live their lives, their professional athletes, and they have a lot of people depending on them, but on the other hand, they need the stress relief. They need to figure out how to maintain that mental physical health balance, but the fact that he's doing this and then we know he's flying like that night. Again, all the way to Vegas to do his primary job. Is there anything about that that might make you turn your head? Nah. No. Listen, and I know. Let me say this to you, Nate. Optics, and that's a great point. And that's a great point. The optics may not be good. You know what I mean? A completely understand what you're saying. But at the same time, at the same time, you know, it's Kyle Petty. And let's just put me. So Kyle Petty races at California motor speedway and you know, you do this. You do that whatever and I'm riding my motorcycle to the racetrack and I hit a slick spot and I go down and I break my leg. What the heck? You know what? That's what I do. I ride motorcycles. Tony Stewart, in between California and Phoenix, Tony's out in the desert, running one of his doom buggies or something. And he rolls it over and hurts his back or whatever. You know, my point is this. My point is this. It could have happened on Monday. It could happen on Tuesday. It just so happened to happen on Friday. You know what I mean? And that's where the optics, I agree with you. I agree totally, but it could have happened any day. It could have happened any day along that week. Did you expect him, and do we as race fans expect him to get back in his cocoon and go over to Vegas and just set in a hotel room and don't do anything because I don't want you to get hurt. I want you to get hurt. So you can't do it that way either. And again, again, again, again again. With the optics be the same, would we be having the same conversation if Kyle Larson had flown to Northern California and run a sprint car race and flipped it on Friday night, knowing he had to be in Vegas on Saturday to qualify his car. Would we be saying the same thing? And according to serious radio, race fans would say, thumbs up, dude. That's good. You know what I mean? We love Cal Larson. But it's different because it's snowboarding, it's different because of some of the subsets. So it's a perception. You know what I mean? The perception is, you know, it's snowboarding versus being in a race car when you get hurt. So

William Byron wins at Las Vegas as Hendrick dominates
"William Byron hit the jackpot at Las Vegas Motor Speedway leading 176 out of 271 laps to take the win and lock himself in to NASCAR's playoffs later this year. Happy with getting the first one of the year it's been a while since we've won. It's been almost a year and it's nice to kind of just get back to what I feel like we're capable of. It was a teammate trifecta as barents teammate Kyle Larson finished second. I thought Kyle was really strong. He could stay close to me for a lot of the runs. The 24 pits I was just better than ours there at the end. So bummed, but all in all, we needed a good run today. You have second and all three stages and good points today. "For a while. Yeah, no, that sounds really cool, so let's kick things off with how it went. This morning, as you're listening to this, we're recording on Wednesday, Daniel Suarez reached a multiyear extension with track house racing, which will keep him in the number 99 Chevrolet Camaro for years to come, which is good to see, right? Yeah, I mean, he got it done last year, so I can see that that's a no brainer. Yeah, and since the team opened, he was the first driver they signed, he really impressed in year one year two here. This past season really impressed. One is first kept series. Victory, it's noma and worked his way into the playoffs and finished top ten, the championship standing, so a really good season for him has been rewarded with a contract extension. And to that token, you look at the other side of things here on the next announcement, Alex Bowman, with Hendrick motor sports, also signed to a multiyear agreement. Financial as well will be returning for multiyears as well. Alex Bowman locked in at the number 48 team there. Really, really good stuff because a lot of people kind of rumored that if this season doesn't go, well, Alex Bowman might be on his way out because he just seems to be that fourth guy like you have the other three guys are a huge names and then there's Alex Bowman who wins a lot, but people just for a reason don't believe Alex Bowman out there. I don't know what the deal is, but here it is. He's locked in and I think he's got the ability now kind of race with reckless abandonment this year, trying to win some races. He has multiple win seasons. It's not like he's, you know, the guy has won more than pretty much almost anyone else besides like chase Elliott and Kyle Larson over the last four years. So the guy gets it done. That's tough competition when your teammates are those guys. Well, in the knock on them is that he only like he wins like he shows up these things wins late out of nowhere and then that's all it is. He just wins a few races a year and you don't hear anything else out in the rest of Europe. That's what this format is though. The whole point of it is out of that. Kevin Harvick had a career out of that. Yeah, that's the whole point. So I just find it funny when people complain about it when this is literally what the system has been put in place to reward only winning. So yeah, that's what it is. But yeah, Alex Bowman locked up for years to come. That's very interesting news. It's coming mid week here, like right before the 500. Yeah, yeah. And we've also, we're going to talk about entry lists and stuff later on. I think, but we had some shuffling on the Daytona truck series entry list this week. Okay, let's shuffle them up. We had Johnny solder who we know listens to this here show. He does. In a shop. Yeah, he was entered in the number 46 G two G racing entry for Daytona. He ran in with that team last year at Daytona. The less than favorable results, but he was lined up to do it again this year. They have now replaced him with norm benning on the entry list in that 46 car. So no real reason given by the team yet. We don't really know the full backstory on that. But we'll eventually get it, but G two G racing has put norm benning and the number 46 Toyota tundra for Daytona. Guess the good news is Johnny now has a little more time to listen to us. That's true, and he's over there at news murder. Running some local short track stuff, which is another reason why it was really shocking to see him off this entry list. He's already down there. So something has happened. I don't know what, but Johnny solder will not be around the truck series race Daytona. Even though he had a locked in spot too, that's the other thing. The team was locked into the race by virtue of his past champion's provisional, and now they don't have that luxury. So the question now becomes what happened and why did it happen? And what happens next? That's bizarre. That's where we're at. Very weird. All right, well, whatever. Tony Stewart is going full-time racing? Yet did you see this? He's going to be going like drag racing, full-time. Top alcohol drag racing with Mick Phillips racing. This is just a wait, you drink alcohol while you're racing, that doesn't seem wise. I don't think that's how it works. I think it's that they use alcoholic fuel. To
