"You've got to ask this. I haven't heard it all none of the shows or if I have a message, but or if it was on, I missed it. But how can you see bright conservative in that once I got the ball back after they got up 12 points? I'm not certain of that, Steve, because that is not really Josh's MO and sometimes coaches feel like let's take a quick look at what the only chance of us losing is and that's probably turning the ball over so you tend to do that. I've never liked it. The great coaches, Steve spurrier, being one, they never let up. They just kept pouring the gas on and I think that's always the best way to do it, especially when you have the momentum. And the better team, which they certainly did the other day. Thank you for the call. He was up next in Georgia. Hello, Hugh. Oh. Yes. Thanks for taking my call. Thank you. In the free season, you were talking about Alabama's offensive line and all of that. I just, I just can't see why the university of Georgia doesn't have the best offensive line in the SEC. When you include those four tight ends, I mean, that dynamite with those four tight ends included in there. But in my opinion, it looks to me like the SEC east has gotten a little bit stronger than we anticipated it being when the season started, just like you comment on that. Well, I think some of that is because Tennessee has really looked good. Kentucky, I think, was expected to be this good. I mean, there are some also some question marks in the SEC east, Florida right now is a team, I think, that is getting better, but it's still in transition. South Carolina, I thought it would be better than they are, but again, they haven't lost a game they probably shouldn't have lost. So I think that oftentimes makes it difficult to analyze. The show you're disappointed in what May that takes away from a lot of the impact of the show. Okay, well, thank you very much. I didn't quite hear all that, but I trust it was an interesting criticism. And critique. Ron is in Kentucky. Hey, Ron. Hello, Paul. Listen, I'm deciding that my old memory is not nearly as good as it used to be. But when I was in the 8th grade, 1962. Our teacher made us learn all 18s in the SEC and now I can't remember and we had a test on it too. And now I can't remember which teams were in the SEC in 1962. So I thought I'd ask and get your expertise on what teams those were. I assumed that Tennessee was one of them because my 8th grade teacher was a big Tennessee fan. Can you help me out? Listen, I'm not sure my memory that year is very good, but in 62, Tennessee was definitely a member of Alabama auburn, I think the question is, was Georgia Tech in two lanes still around? That's the one thing I don't remember. What they got out, but I could look it up. Right. Well, I'd appreciate that if you would. I'll listen to your show. Thanks a lot, Paul. Yeah, I think the SEC may have had more schools than 8 tulane and Georgia Tech were both in then. So was Florida, Georgia. Alabama auburn, Vanderbilt, all this and Mississippi state. So we're getting above 8, aren't we? Yeah, I think your memory is not as good as it once was because there were more than 8 schools in the SEC. There were, in fact, there were 12 schools in the SEC in 1962. And then two lane and Georgia Tech left and now they were and then they were down to ten. It remained ten until 19 92 when Arkansas and South Carolina joined and then of course you went to 1410 years ago when Missouri and Texas a and M join. So hope we can educate you back to your youth in the 60s. We will take a break. More to come right after this. You were listening to the Paul fine bomb Joe podcast. Welcome back here. Heather is up next in Virginia. Hello, Heather. Hello, Paul. How are you? I am well. Thank you. Appreciate your call. Okay, I'm first time caller. I had two questions, actually. I am a die hard Tennessee fan. I believe orange, my husband, unfortunately, yes, I said husband is a Bama fan. Oh, my. I know, I feel like a sponsor sometimes. But anyway, my first question is, do you think it's in the rot, realm to say that hand and hooker should be nominated for the husband or will be or is that just no? No. Today, I think hooker is very legitimate in the running. I would think he's in the top three or four right now. But that's something that changes week by week, but what you have to be is a contender. And he is a legitimate contender. I agree. I mean, I think as a T and C fan, you know that we don't get excited about anything. I mean, I'm excited about Josh hypo and this program, but as a Tennessee fan, you don't get too excited. So since I know the answer to this, I have a reverse situation that you do. What's it like being married to a Bama fan? It's been really hard to pass what 12 years. It's been really, really hard. But this was my other question, speaking of that, because my husband would never call in. Now I like saving. I think he's a great coach. I really do. But I do not believe he has been the same, it's been the same program since two. Since two have got hurt and I guess Nick thought it was his fault. And I tell my husband this tour was his pitch. And I don't care what anybody says he just looked different at different sounds different and he is just, yeah, that's just what I think. Well, they've won a championship since then, but in some ways, though, you're right. The program has been up in a little wobbly. One year they didn't make the playoff, which is a big deal. And then they lost last year. So I don't think we know the verdict on Saban yet. And I think it will come into focus really at the end of the season. If he wins, then there's no debate. If he doesn't win, then some will start asking a few questions. Well, of course, they're always going to. But I really do believe that. I think that Nick Saban got really soft after two it got hurt and it hurt his hit for whatever in the game against Missouri. And then I think that was it. Because honestly, he went to a call that shot. He should have pulled him out like it made him sit out, but he didn't. He was like, that was a moment in time. I heard from a lot of coaches who questioned that, but fortunately for tua, he was able to come back and I don't think anybody really blamed saving considering to her right now is one of the two or three best players in the NFL. Yeah, I think he's a little fragile, but I'll leave that alone. I think he's overrated. Certainly, Heather, you know, that. Exactly. Opinions, you know, there's like, you know, other things. Right. But thank you, Paul. It was a great talking to you and being on the show. Thank you so much. Thank you very much. And go balls. You got it. Trey is up next in Tuscaloosa. Hey, Paul, there were 12 teams in the SEC in 1962. And Georgia Tech and tulane were still there. So if the guy could only name 18, I would say he failed the test. What about you, Paul? Yeah, I think you said second grade. He obviously did okay later in life, but that was a bad beginning. And elementary education. Hey, I got two questions for you. What is this a man crush that Jim and Jeff have on Tim Brando? What's that all about? Trey, I'll try not to be flipping here. But I have no idea.

"Just a personality, but I am a people person. I'm upheaval placing. And I love to talk to people. I talk to people, as you know, I've told you, in elevators, anywhere. And so I love to ask people about their work. One 8th prager 7 7 6 which translates digitally into. Translates digitally into. 8 7 7 two 7 6 8 7 7 two four three this is the official one unless what? Yes. Oh, really? He prefers. My producer prefers this to, oh, I see. Well, they both good. I don't know if I have a preference. Isn't there even a third? There are several. No, no, no, I understand that. I understand, but there's no reason not to use them. So dear Francesca Morris, who was volunteered her time to work on this Labor Day along with the inimitable, the ineffable, the inexpressible, the in duplicate, Sean McConnell, who stayed dispelled. Don't seem your double in need of a little that was composed by yours truly incidentally. There are areas where I just don't like to boast. But that is one I am really proud of. That is the only piece of music I have ever composed. I didn't orchestrated, I am seeing it, but I composed it. So what do you do for a living, it's Labor Day and it's an appropriate question to ask, and I have a lot of fun. So do you. You listening. And it is, among other things, you will see an ode to America. Because unless crushed, the spirit of people, and this would be true anywhere. It's a values issue. It's not a DNA issue. There's no American DNA. And so unless crushed, which is what happens in the vast majority of the countries of the world, people just will do whatever they do. All right, so let's begin with ambler Pennsylvania and Hugh. Hello Hugh Dennis prager. Welcome on Labor Day. And I'm very thrilled that I'm number one on the list today. Thank you. Well done, that is something that is something. But I was just going to I work in a grocery store, okay? A supermarket, if you will, I work for whole foods, markets. And I work in the store in North Wales, Pennsylvania. Right, I'll say hello when I'm in Philly. Oh, very good. I know you come here often. Yep. And I'm a baker. I work as a baker there. I go in early in the morning. What time? I usually get there around four 30 a.m. go on and wait. So whole foods, which I've been to many times, but I didn't realize so the bakery bakes what? Well, we do actual scratch baking in the bakery. We take items. We don't just open boxes and bake the stuff. It's made from scratch. And watch the stuff you bake. Breads? Well, we do breads, but mostly we do cakes and pastries and what you would find in a neighborhood retail bakery. I thought, maybe I have it confused with another store chain, but doesn't whole foods tend all right, they do sell things with sugar. They don't sell things without official sugar. Exactly. That's it. Yes. But the nice thing about me on the fourth generation baker. Wow. Okay, I'm 59 years old, so I've been doing this since I was ten years old with my father. And what the nice thing is about working with whole foods is the ingredients I get to work with. Like we use only real butter. We don't use any of the artificial shortenings or anything. It's all really good. Let alone God forbid margarine. I've got two, two, two. So that's one of the nice things about it, but I know like little retail bakeries, they can't afford to use ingredients like that. But at Whole Foods we can and we still do, and that's why people say, well,.

"Well, that's good to know for parents out there. Sunny last question in terms of blockbuster. There's some trailers down the road that we saw in Thor and they pay a lot for those trailers. Is there anything you are waiting on the edge of your seat to see? Well, I don't know about blockbusters, but I do really like the trailer for Amsterdam. Did you get that? Well, that was not attached. No. Yeah, so Amsterdam is the new movie from the director of silver linings playbook and American hustle. Gars Christian Bale. It looks a little bit like a Coen brothers movie. It's not a Coen brothers movie, but it looks a little bit like Ellen brothers movie. And I liked Coen brothers. So I'm looking forward to that. But now it's that there's a dry stretch here probably we are we are going to be hitting post the first weekend of August when bullet train comes out the movie with Brad Pitt. I saw that trailer. I'm kind of looking forward to that. Haven't you seen that trailer 20 times? I've seen that trailer 20 times. Well, we see all the trailers 20 times now because there are so many fewer movies. There's only one big release every two weeks now, which I think is actually smart. I mean, I think Hollywood should get back to instead of a tent pole every week, a tent pole every three weeks and then a little bit smaller movies in the interregnum, but I digress. I want to finish by going back to Elvis. I have made the recommendation to a number of people that they go see Elvis. It divides on a demographic line that's fairly significant. If you're under 50, you're not going to you're not attracted to that movie if you're over 50. Even any kind of distant intimation of Elvis in your life, you will enjoy it greatly. What's been the overall grade on Elvis? Are people like it? It's gotten solid. I think a minus or cinema score, which is solid. Critics, critics are pretty positive on it. And you're right. It's definitely attracting an older audience. I mean, if you look at the numbers, if you look at the demographic breakdown, I think the second and third weekend or the second weekend, I think, was older than the first weekend was in terms of older audiences. And it's also attracting women. So it's attracting older women, which has been a demographic that has been loath to come back to movie theaters. And it's doing very well for itself, and it's going to cross a $100 billion this weekend. Tom Hanks can still carry a movie. And Elvis, of course, Sonny bunch, follow him on Twitter at sunny bunch, he earned his airline miles this week and of course the bulwark goes to the movie as one podcast across the movie aisle is another podcast. They are both worth listening to if you're a movie aficionado. Thank you. Sunny bunch. Welcome back, America, you at time for the poet laureate of the Hugh Hewitt show tarzana Joe. Hello, Joe. Hello Hugh. You know the last two weeks have been a little unusual for me. I hear echoes of something that I can't just put my finger on it. But I've tried to. The market is in tatters and everyone's obsessing. But the media is telling us inflation is a blessing. The post and times in chorus have been singing the same song. They say the cost of living has been far too low too long. Editorial opinion, every comment, every letter, all are in agreement that recessions even better. Biden has a program and the reason he began it is he knows that rising prices are a way to save the planet. And if you're in agreement, well, it's time to do your part. Go visit a museum, glue yourself to works of art. The earth has been exploited. Time to lighten up the load. So we better tell the farmers, hey, start learning how to code. If you're feeling cold this winter, why not rule up in your rugs? And if you're getting hungry, here's a burger made of bugs. The streets are filled with garbage, violent criminals are lurking, but they say that their statistics indicate reforms are working as a fight in Central Europe. Have you seen the latest meme go to TikTok and they'll tell you that's just letting off some steam. Well, at least we have some comfort from The White House press release where they tell us pain is pleasure and that war, of course, is peace. That's echoes of something by Joe. It's echoes of 1978. Joe, what year did you graduate from demon deacon, Lin? 79. And by the way, a demon deacon had a great first round in the British open. Well, I'm glad to hear that. But you came out. I was on special report on Wednesday night. And I pointed out I got out when inflation was 7.6. You got out when inflation was 11.3. And then we were both early in our careers when inflation went to 13.5. Aren't those the good old days, Joe? I guess you looked at me and you said, I'll never own anything. I'll never want to think hard. I'm going to have a half grilled cheese tonight. I'm telling you, this can not go on, but Tarzan and Joe goes on and on. He's the energizer bunny of poetry and you can reach him at tarzana Joe at Reagan dot com for all your poetry needs rates are reasonable poems are wonderful. This will be posted. It turns out Joe dot com, if it's working, is it working, Joe? Absolutely. Back on the beam. Back on the beam turns in a Joe dot com, but the people who need poetry write to Joe. "1172. Join now by the poet laureate of the Hugh Hewitt show Tarzan and Joe hello, Joe. Hello, Hugh on some reflection on this month's issues. Before mankind had learned to dance or even sing a tomb, we've mapped the months by measuring the phases of the moon, and as the year progresses and contingencies were planned for, the names of moss became bound up in all the things they stand for. April is the month that has been designated greed. That's when we pay the IRS more money than they need. I gather all my paperwork and when I do the math, I find that April also is the month we honor wrath. November stands for gluttony. Oh, how the world is bleak and when we all eat incessantly across a four day weekend. August is the month for sloth. Warm weariness profound and something that we poets pursue the whole year round. December is the month new car commercials pay a visit. We see those giant bows and the envy is exquisite. I live in I live, I wouldn't think of being rude. Gracious coexistence is a goal to be pursued. Name a month for leadership or name it for success. Name it for affection. I think we'd all say yes. But now I understand how the apocalypse begins. When we name our months in honor of the 7 deadly sins. That's what goeth before a fall. Like tarzana Joe. Isn't January the month of success, Joe? I used to live near a town called Lake success. And I thought, I only moved to Lake success Long Island. I would really be a winner, but never could afford it. There is a Lake success in Long Island. Lake success Long Island, a planned community. I think like Irvine. Well, I just think Lake success and Irvine and rustin have very planned community. Joe, thank you. That will be available tarzana Joe dot com. Are you open for business in.

"Debuted 20 years ago as of yesterday, I think Thursday. He is back with a new show and it was very funny. He said something on Twitter like, I don't want anyone to get alarmed, but we own the city is very much about how the drug war is bad. I was like, okay, so it's in line with everything else that you've done. This is very much in keeping with the rest of your work. But it's very good. It's kind of interestingly structured in terms of how the timelines of it work. It basically follows the it follows a corruption investigation into Baltimore city cops that took place a few years back. But it also, it starts 15 years before that back in 2002 and follows characters played by John bernthal as he rises up through the Baltimore city ranks and kind of. Okay, that's on my list. We own this. Now, have you heard about industry set in the city for London, the financial sector? That got recognized. I don't know this one. Well, I'll start with we own the city. How many episodes are there in we own the city? It's only 6, if only 6 episodes, an hour each. So it's only 6 hours, as far as the TV shows go, it's pretty, it's pretty quick. And it is one that actually I'm opposed to the binging model generally, but the way, again, that this show is structured just in terms of timelines and kind of overlapping stories and trying to keep track of what's what. I think it actually helps to watch three episodes that are whack. HBO Max. It's on HBO Max on HBO. Sunny bunch, I want to thank you and remind people that Sonny has two podcasts, the movie aisle, and the bulwark goes to the movie. You ought to be following sunny at the easy to remember Sonny bunch and it's why, not sunny bunch. And he'll be back next week to tell us about Jurassic. Are you going to go see Jurassic Park this week? I am not sure. I may have to take next week off as my wife is going to be out of town next week and getting to the theaters with two children. Not possible. We'll see. Quick question for you. Do you like the trailers? Yeah, I mean, I like these movies, mostly. So do I find it? I mean, I don't know. They're okay. I like Chris Pratt, and I like diced their 5 of them, I think. There are 5 yes, there are 5 Jurassic movies. There's the three dress parks announced now three Jurassic World. So this will be number 6. All right. Franchise, the franchise. Thank you, sunny bunch. I want to remind you that our sponsor is Andrew and Todd dot com. There was Sierra Pacific. They lend you money to refinance your house or buy a home or help your son or daughter become investors in real estate by becoming a non occupying co borrower. They help senior citizens with reverse mortgage. They help veterans with no money down mortgages. They help you refinance. So if you need to get money out of your house or you need a whole new house, go to Andrew and Todd dot com or call them a triple-A triple-A 1172. Join down by the poet laureate of the Hugh Hewitt show. Good morning Joe. Hello, Hugh. Well, it's interesting week hard to explain hard to understand, but we give it a try. It's said that in November, the left won't know what hit them. It seems that they lack common sense with them. But in a wicked world like ours were common senses lacking, it's going to take a whole lot more to send incumbents backing. For as I work to pen my poem to meet this morning's deadline, I could see only senselessness in each and every headline. A man in midst of lying and lying is a crime and though the reasons crystal clear he won't do any time. The courts in California have served us up this dish for purposes of climate of B is now a fish. Gases on affordable. Our policies to blame to mitigate the problem we'll just do more of the same. One in four are short we're headed in the wrong direction, but no one in The White House sees the need for course correction. It's crisis after crisis and that is the crises mount. We seem to lack the will to hold our leaders to account. So if you like the way things run and go right on doing what you've done, if you want our world improving, get on up and go get moving. That's common.

"Hello, Shannon. What's going on, Paul? Hey there. I am sick to death of these Alabama excuses. I can not believe mitchie and Williamson have both said what they said of this combine, about the thing to play. It had been a different turnout. You know, Paul, Alabama staff had the entire season to develop depth at wide receiver and chose not to. You know, Alabama needs to be concerned with the fact that four trips inside the red zone, they converted one touchdown. They need to be concerned about the fact that the one touchdown that it converted was when I started on the 16 yard line, Paul. I mean, you go all season, you don't develop your depth and then the two that you rely on like a crutch all season go out and you're left with no offense. And apparently it's a cultural thing over there because not only their players saying it, but did not hear saving talk about how his players didn't step up and had the opportunity to. They sure did. Tell me this. Georgia was without Kiera's Jackson, Dominick blaylock, George pickens, areas, Aaron Smith, they had to rely on a true freshman AD Mitchell who caught the big touchdown pass against Alabama in the national championship. They had to rely on a former three star receiver and lad mcconkey who had no division one offers other than Georgia and a true freshman and brought Bowers because they had developed their young talent from the first game of the season. Why did Alabama fail to develop their talent Paul? And why could they not convert when they're inside the red zone on four temps only come out with one touch down the risk field goals? Shannon, it's a great question and I agree. I think once a game ends, you talk about it the next day and move on. And in fairness to mechi and Williamson, it's like these guys showed up there with prepared statements. I mean, they were asked about it. I understand. The Sabin comment, I think, is more is more bewildering, quite frankly. I think the thing that bothers me the most Paul, is it's beginning to be that attitude of well, if the officials hadn't made all those bad calls, we the one in the game, or if we hadn't played on the road, we the one in the game, or if it had been better weather, we don't want to gain. You know, if my aunt had testicles, she'd be my uncle Paul. But if don't count in this game, what counts my aunt is developing, well, in the south there's some answers to mustaches. But you've got to develop your young talent. Who Alabama fans should be upset with, is Bill O'Brien and the receivers coach for not playing those young 5 stars. I mean, it's not like those kids that came in against Georgia were walking. You know the problem Shannon and nobody talks about this either, but Alabama did not have very many easy games this year. The Florida game, we all know about even the games that you thought would be easy. Tennessee and LSU where they were prohibitive favorites. They were grinds getting fourth quarter leads. The Arkansas game came down to an onside kick, the auburn game we all know about. So that's about half the schedule that they did not have the opportunity to go beyond the obvious. And if I'm not mistaken messy, I mean, Williamson had four receptions for 65 yards in the game. How many touchdowns did you score? How many times did you see the end zone? I mean, he had an opportunity score to produce points. And in January, they also had they also were at full strength against Texas a and M game they lost, and against auburn a game that they should have lost. Listen, I think Jordan fans are thrilled to be national champions and they're going to celebrate this until they win the next national championship. I know that I am. But I will be my fans just need to fix the fact they got beat on the field of play. No harm, no foul with the injuries, and quit making danger excuses. Excuses are for losers. If they want to adopt that hey, if this and if that mentality, you can do that. I know a coach at Florida used to say, well, we out rest them on offense to what should have won the game. We won a game on the stat board. Exactly. So let's just go to stuff like that. You know, that's all I got. Thank you very much. Jason is up next in Alabama. Shannon can shut his mouth. You don't know what he's talking about. I mean, I know you get excited because your team had won one and 30 years or whatever. But I didn't know nobody got completely torched and beat down. What happened in the SEC championship game? Where was Georgia then? What were they napping? They were taking a break. It was all part of their plan. Sure. Whatever. You got torched in the SEC championship game. And as far as I'm concerned, it's one to one. I mean, the games were played three weeks apart. It's one to one. Let's go again. Let's get, let's get them healthy again, and go back. See what happens. They can win two out of three. I mean, Alabama over performed like you're saying, oh yeah. We didn't even plan on being in the national championship game. Every Alabama fan was like, oh, okay. Okay. All right. Okay, there's another one. All right, just like you said, we should have lost this. Okay. We won that one. Here we are. And then we got there and everybody in America, what did they say? Oh, they can't. They can't hold nothing against Jordan. They're about to get waxed and they put 43 on you with healthy players. What are you blind? Your two main production receivers go out? And you don't put 43 on them. They ain't nobody making excuses. They scrapped and fought their whole way the whole season. And got all the way to the end and didn't have enough juice. What else you want to know? Thank you, Jason. Let's continue Rucker is up next. Hey, rocker. It's very powerful. How you doing, man? We're doing well. Thank you. I won't try to make a quick point. Was his name Shannon? Yeah, yeah. I've heard him before and he's taking these to be drinking some wider red wine because he wines a lot, but listen, Georgia beat out Alabama, I'm out of bounds. And it's clear to me that they don't sit there and watch the game, but about making no excuses, but how did Alabama make him the first time? With a vertical passing game, correct? Yeah, I mean, I hear people, listen, that game was important to Alabama, Alabama wouldn't have played for the championship without that game. It turned out not to be very important to Georgia. Leslie is up next in Georgia. Hello, Leslie. Hey, Paul, this is Leslie from Georgia and I want to respond to Jason from Alabama. We won when it counted the most. So he is obviously still a little saucy about Alabama losing the national championship. Yeah, and I don't want to be little the SEC championship. It is really important. But Alabama has been in that position before, where the year before. They could have lost a game. I mean, to this day, I'm not sure what happened on that Saturday afternoon. It doesn't really matter what happened. Georgia won the game that everyone will remember. They will not remember the game in Atlanta. That's right. That's the most important game was the national championship. Go no. Go dogs. Woof woof. You is up next in deep gap hello, Paul. Hello, Hugh. Let me get off of my speakerphone. Sure. I've been formulating an opinion about why three of the major conferences decided to back away from an expanded playoff. Okay. I did a little math. And here's what I came up with. In the last 20 years, the southeastern conference is one 70% of the national championships. Correct. In the last ten years, they won 60% of them. Ohio State has won one 8 years ago and another one 20 years ago for a 10% number and the pack 12 one one 18 years ago for a 5% number and our brothers over at the Atlantic coast conference had two good years with Clemson back 5 years ago and 6 years ago. And one about 9 years ago with Florida state, here's my point. I think TV revenue is totally dependent among the projected number of viewers for any given event. And the last thing the Big Ten or the ACC or the PAC 12 need is for the SEC to dominate a 12 team playoff. If the SEC has four or 5 teams in that playoff and they clean house, the Big Ten, the Atlantic coast conference and the pack 12 will lose the overall battle because they will lose the conference mediocrity that they can maintain when they don't have to play anybody better..

"Fast. I'll be right back, America's stay tuned. Join now by the poet lorina do you hear a show? Hello, Joe. Hello, Hugh. I have a little Christmas tale for you this week. It was grandpa's final Christmas. He had his favorite chair. I saw him try to smile, but it was more a weakened stare. Grandpa was a handyman. There's nothing he couldn't fix. He loved his German Shepherd dogs. I think that he had 6. But age and sensibility at last have had their say and he couldn't get a 7th when the last prince passed away. The first one was as white as snow. His nose was long and pink, his scowl had the power to have made Jack London blink. What kind of present can you give this question bears repeating to a life that's at its limit and adjust that's barely beating? And what are presents anyway of what are they a part of a something for your closet or something for your heart? Well, my sister had the answer. There, I finally said it. She's such a lovely person, but I rarely give her credit. The look upon his face, I haven't seen before or since when he opened up that figurine which looked so much like prince. A picture in my memory, I will forever see his best friend was alive again. Oh yes, so was he? It was such a magic moment. I hope that you all live one. I hope you get a gift like that. I hope you get to give one. That's grandpa's presence by tarzana Joe. That's grand, Joe. I only heard half of it because after you mentioned prince, I thought of my grandfather's dog Bruno. Yeah, like 7 dogs. They were all Bruno. They just kept naming them Bruno. And so it was very easy on the grandkids, but you're right. That is magnificent, and it was your sister's present idea. I want to give a credit. No, I take no credit. I actually have to, for all the goods. I want everyone to go find that. It turns out Joe dot com. That's the best ad for the tarzana Joe poetry writing business you've ever given, Joe. Oh, well, thank you. But next week, there may be even a better one. Well, this one can be red. It turns out that Joe dot com and if you want to order up one, go to tarzana joint Reagan dot com and send him a missive grandpa's present will be hard to duplicate though. Joe, well done. Thank you. Welcome back America. You do it. Josh mandel former state treasurer in Ohio is running for Senate in Ohio. His Twitter account is Josh mandel, Ohio. Good morning, Josh, how are you? Good morning, you doing well. Do I recall correctly you're a marine in Afghanistan? I did two tours in Iraq. Okay. So this is still an irrelevant question, but I knew you did two tours. I thought one was in Afghanistan. This morning at The Wall Street Journal, it's reported that more than 60,000 Afghan interpreters and others who have applied for visas to seek shelter have been left behind a total of 62,000 Afghans are believed to have been left behind the State Department official said your reaction Josh mandel. Well, the Biden administration has sent a message to every country on this planet. And every person in that country that America, unfortunately, at least under a Biden type administration is not one is not one that can be trusted as a partner. And it's said that we left all these interpreters who went out there and risked their lives with marines and soldiers doing patrols left and behind. And he when I was in the Marine Corps, we used this system called the bat system. Biometric system where we would scan the iris eyeballs and the faces, facial recognition of the we call mims military age males. So whether they were friends or foes, we'd scan them would be out in patrols or new checkpoints. And then a big database. In addition to Biden leaving all the salt weapons and humvees and night vision goggles and helicopters behind, he also left behind that database view. And it's now in the hands of the Taliban. And so the Taliban is literally using that database as a kill list to go hunt down the very exact interpreters you're mentioning and anyone else who helped Americans. I mean, it is, I think Joe Biden will go down as one of not the worst commanders in chief of the U.S. Military in American history..

"We finally made it fourth weekend of October fame third Saturday in October has gone the fourth is tomorrow in Tuscaloosa, but they don't really care about that here. We're in the grove. And we are ready to roll as old miss having one of its best seasons in a long time. Lane kiffin will be here in just a few minutes and it's great to have all of you with us for the next couple of hours. LSU and all this offenses come ready to play in the high scoring afternoon. That is tomorrow afternoon. It is the featured game in the SEC and the two coaches are ready. Mike Carell will top players in the country. It's very fast. I can run the football through the football to think about you can see my career. He played with his heart. He played with character. And he's very tough. He's not very good shape. It hasn't been for the last two days. So you guys know how we are on injuries, hopefully he'll play, but I do not feel good about that right now. Obviously we don't want our quarterback Brian 30 times running off our core vaccine and play this week. So my running backs need to step up. We just started studying old myths. I've been looking at my Carell all morning, and we expect an end to play, but we're going to study a second team quarterback, but Nolan Matt and no one goes when he's kind of throwing me a smokescreen. She always has great players. You know, they put it together in the run game last week, and I saw the back running people over, they look like Leonard fournette. You know, so that's a challenge, obviously. So the battle of wits between coach kiffin and Ed O and we will talk to lane kiffin in a few minutes and obviously that's a question that we are going to ask about the health of Matt chorale. Meanwhile, what about the health? Of hooker in the Tennessee Alabama game, Tennessee, hinden hooker's health, looking better, according to the coaches and look according to people familiar with that program. They absolutely need him without hooker, their chances of beating Alabama are none. Their chances of being in Alabama with him are slim. I think the rivalry between Tennessee and Alabama is, you know, one of the old great rivalries in college football goes way back. I know it means a lot to a lot of people. You know, in our state, certainly means a lot to me and hopefully we'll get that translated to our team. Josh I was on a really good job at Tennessee, their team is playing really well. They're explosive on offense. They make a lot of big plays. They run the ball very effectively. First of all, you got great personnel. It starts there. You know, their ability to be different and I say that meaning apply pressure with pressure. And some of that being simulated with a drop in ends, their ability to get pressure with the front four. Their ability to fit the fit the run game and apply it at a really high level. You put all that together. They've been difficult to move football. So quite a lot to do with this weekend. It is a weekend where a number of schools have buy weeks, nationally easily the weakest group of games that we've seen all year in the SEC. We've obviously talked about the two big games, the one here. And over in Tuscaloosa, where else will we go this afternoon? We have a big grass as we always do. We'll start with light, Kevin, he'll join us in just a few minutes right here. And then Katie George from Tuscaloosa. On the call for the Alabama game. Wright Thompson to poet laureate of the SEC he'll join us. He's an Oxford native Tebow, Roman Harper, Jordan, that's a pretty good combination of great SEC players there, Laura will drop by Marty. The athletic director and the man who hired coach kiffin Keith Carter will join us in the final hour as Chris storing and your phone calls at 8 5 5 two four two 7 two 8 5. We'll try to squeeze the calls in between guests and we have a little bit of time to do that right now. Hugh starts it off in deep gap North Carolina. Hello Hugh, good afternoon. A couple of quick things. My good pal, Charlie Horton was a running back at Vanderbilt in the mid 50s, and he was one of the most prominent officials in the southeastern conference for almost 30 years. And I asked him after a very poor officiated bowl game that Kentucky was in with northwestern about why the southeastern conference officials were so much better. And he's been retired 25 years. He's 86 years old. He still is at his playing late, and he walks with a push card 18 holes, Paul. He makes me feel ashamed. He told me the following. He said that every official needs to pass a physical exam and a stress test before they are allowed to officiate with any team in the conference. He said that the southeastern conference drills the mechanics of where you supposed to be and how you move to try to ensure that every official has at least a fighting chance to see the play as it develops. I think Charlie probably nailed that. These guys are human. They're not perfect, but I think that southeastern conference officials are the best that I've seen of any of the college officiating. I got one quick question for you. I think that at this point, there are three teams in the southeastern conference that have one loss and plus Georgia's undefeated. After watching what Georgia's front 7 did to Kentucky's offensive line, I'm convinced that's the best front defensive 7. I've seen since Doug gets played for Tennessee in the 50s. I don't think Alabama has a prayer against him. And here's my question to you. How many one last teams will there be in the southeastern conference at the end of the season and after the championship game? Right now there's old miss Kentucky and Alabama. Yeah, I think there could be I think Kentucky has a chance. I think they do not belong in the playoffs. Christmas Day. Give him a good new year's bowl and I'll be a happy camper. But George just showed me that they're not in that league right now. And for the record, Paul, floated and have a chance. Then oh boy, the reason Kentucky went with short passes is because when you've got three seconds to get rid of the ball before the defense hits you alive, you don't have the time to develop long plays. And that's just the truth of it. That Georgia defense is for real. It's the best I've seen since the mid 50s. Thank you very much. Great to hear from you. John and Louisville, you're on the air hello John, go ahead. God, I wish I had used voice. Anyways, I love Fridays. I'd love to see these campuses and I love you on Sunday too. Do you ever take a day off? Listen, the football season is short, John. There's plenty of time to luxury around the pool. Well, here's Mike Tommen and request a Mike Griffith and question for laying kiffin. The usual Mike Griff is in fact, I'll agree with Jimmy is somewhat of a drama queen. But he spent I don't know how many minutes building up Florida then he tears him down. Then he takes his usual cheap shots at other coaches like Jimbo and lane kiffin. But laying out breadcrumbs back 11 years to the cost and excuse for the fan insurrection, so to speak, it was just off the charts..

Paul for taking my call Three things if i if i have time one shout out to my man matt Don't know matt. He loves his team's. I love matt If he needs any dating advice. I'm for peace from san antonio but I could write a trilogy. Toma volumes on the good the bad and the ugly and i'm willing to share my body and knowledge with him anytime number. Two penn state over auburn hundred five rabid fans. Incredible environment this permit third generation texas. Aggie that was an incredible environment. Auburn would have beaten them in a walmart. Parking lot and west. Virginia forced to think that had penn state beaten vanderbilt on the same night in the same environment. They'd be number five right now. It's an homage to the seat Number three. I want you guys to watch my fighting texas aggie defense this saturday. I want you to. You got to do there in the we go back and watch that second half against colorado. This defense is real. I know we're living in the age. Where defense don't matter. But i'm thinking that I'm thinking it's still does. And paul appreciate you taking my call. I'm a big fan man. I watch as many times as i can. I'm listening to you on sirius channel. Eighty one when. I'm not in front of the tv. Well jake thank you. That's great that's great to hear you call back again. Thank you appreciate it. Yes sir us one of my favorite phrases randy. I'm a for peace texas Description or southern. Like we need to reinvent the the the language jerry is in kentucky where there are a lot of for pieces between hollers. Hello jerry paypal. How you doing. We're doing well. Thank you good longtime listener first-time caller great show Here in kentucky. We are on all my friends. What your show Ran down the columbia on saturday Hope to make. Sec nation see. They're just wanted to get your thoughts on this Jecklin hod kentucky team Up here we can't figure them out. I mean they come out and play pretty good against louisiana monroe and then You know they beat missouri probably not a lot better with the turnovers. Then come out absolutely you know. Give a stinker against ut chatanooga I've been down to south carolina. Before like i said we'll going again. It's a crazy atmosphere down. There goes a little bit worried. They've got some playmakers. I'll put shane beamer. Doing down there. just wanted to give your thoughts on your thoughts on stoops's team and what you think i know you gotta give the pick on fcc nations. I will pressure you too much but what you think of that. Game and What's kentucky gotta do to come out for all and i think sometimes Keeping teams getting teams to play the those terrible opponents difficult. A great coach once told me that he said you. We're lucky if we can get our teams up four times a year and i'm not making excuses for mark stoops. I always wonder. Why is it so difficult because you only play twelve games but i. I think you're dealing with players. Nowadays are so plugged into what they here. And you and i both know. Nobody cared about the chattanooga game. And it's just hard to you know sitting here network you know you're trying to pay attention to all the different games with games. We just and that's one of them. You just go you go. You go past as fast as you can and i think that trickles down. I think the players here that They know nobody really cares. I know they just have to go out there and and do the bare minimum players. Look those games. I mean i have friends who are defensive. Players who say they love those games because they can pad their stats. But you know you can probably do that whether You know everybody is is on the same page or not. And i i think coaches to play the play the vanilla game where they they don't they don't wanna give anything away and the players know that y- you know you've got a big game the following week and then you've got florida coming up so you just literally you go through the motions. And i i. I used to do that sometimes. Where we'd be someplace where You really didn't want to be but now you know that you have to give an effort but what to. What degree of effort do you give absolutely some. I guess my last question for you. Paul is about a six point favorite. Do you think that's too much. No i don't I mean. I i haven't really i mean i'll i'll i'll. I'll spend more time on this game when we get there but I think south carolina is extremely young and inexperienced and from a purely from a matchup standpoint. I think kentucky probably you know inspite of what we heard last week from the carolina fans You know probably is in pretty good shape in this game. I appreciate you. Thanks for taking my call now. When you see me saturday morning you know wearing a game cock helmet. I don't want you to say that. I misled you. I do think. South carolina fans are going to be up for this game. i mean they. They knew the smart ones last week was probably a lost. Cause i don't think they view this game the same way. I mean they i think in their hearts. They think they've got a shot at kentucky. Let's check in with hugh who is in ohio. Hello hugh i paul. How you doing. We're doing great. Thank you got a couple items. I wanted to talk to you about That last Play in florida game For the two-point conversion I've watched that replay over and over. And i really believe it was a quarterback option and that ball carrier would not turn loose of the ball to give it to jones He roller pulled out of there and then when he wouldn't give you got behind him tried to shut him in me that ball. You're not taking this in. I am. I mean did you see i am i am. I'm not sure. I've watched a game since Although i think i'm going home tonight to watch the replay of that play because I wanna see what you're talking about. I well you know how the run that quarterback option. He can either right take it. Depends i defend. And he tried and kid would not giving the ball. Second what you're talking about a blown or simon. You think that was the blown assignment. I i think that blown assignment. I don't think it's any wind blocking okay. The next question. I don't know what's going on up here to stay in a couple of years ago. We lost joe borough in the portal. This year we lost that wide receiver alabama right. The game chain connected get let me. I'm up against the clock. I'm i voted ohio. Say schedule i. I know everybody's down on them and they're going to lose three times but your schedule is is pretty palatable. The rest of the way. I that doesn't answer your question but we will come back kirk. Herbstreit went to ohio state. He'll.

"Orleans and after he lost the texas fans started chanting. Sec pc basically mocking us. And i guess you hate us. 'cause you and us and now they're asking to join the you know what i'm gonna do next time. They come into sanford stadium and we kicked their butts or in a start yelling and go back to the big twelve. Go back to the big twelve like it. Hey thank you very much for the call. Hugh is in deep gap north carolina. Hello hugh hello paul. Listen friend i've got a. I've got a bone to pick with with your analogy about the pod process that is being discussed for this new merge of texas and oklahoma If you consider the geographic boundaries that were that with auburn and alabama coming east and missouri going west. What you're dealing with in the east is a ninety year history of seven of those teams having a relationship and playing ball every year and i think it's would-be with a great deal of trepidation that you would throw that out. That is an evolution. That's revolution that's uncalled for. In the event that the competitive drive between east and west is out of balance. That needs to be adjusted. But frankly i think with texas and oklahoma and lsu and texas a. and m. There are true match for auburn. alabama georgia and florida. And frankly paul. I think any discussion about a four-way pod if you look at the historical games the georgia has with florida and allburn. And how you gonna put them in a pod that doesn't include those two and frankly. I think there's a much better way to do it. We're gonna look at nine games for sure. You see the regular game with strength on strength and you have a roving game that would change every year that means within six years every team would play everybody else and frankly that may not be as good as doing it and four. But at least you wouldn't tear up ninety years of tradition for an evolution. It's totally uncalled for. Let's face it paul. They east west competition in the south. Eastern conference has built the strongest competition and the strongest absolutely strongest conference in football ever known in america. There is no way the big ten with who. Ohio state plays can compete. I heard that discussion yesterday. If you gutted half of the teams out of atlantic coast conference and the big t and you might compete. Well what the hell are the likelihood of that go on down. I don't see any way that the big ten can compete with the southeastern conference for balls or money. But i do not think it's necessary for us to consider taryn up what has worked well for ninety years out. Ain't that's crazy. We need to think in terms of evolution and not revolution. Thank you very much. Maybe we should re redo the scopes trial. Let's take a break more calm. More of your phone calls at eight five five two four two seven two eight five a lot to do on the program and we are just underway to listening to the paul. Finebaum show podcast. "Afternoon who here in the middle of the week. He was just a week ago as we came from hoover. Alabama that a bomb. Shift that we're still choking about sorry about that Went off and we're still here trying to figure out what is going on. Let's get to the program and how about this. I never thought i'd see this day. I can hardly talk sorry about that. I just tried to gobble some mortar down. And i swallowed the bottom of the water the gators. Ucf agree to a three game deal remember. This was a big issue a couple of years ago when you had a different athletic director. He got into a squabble with scott stricklin. That athletic director has now moved on to the university of tennessee. And it looks like they've got everything worked out david shaw. I don't know if you'll be. Welcome at nick sabin house anytime soon. He had a few choice. Comments yesterday about bri now in fairness he. He did the requisite nick. Sabin is the greatest coach of all time and and we would. None of us could ever hope hope to equal him but this is what he said. First of all. Nick sabin is smarter than any ten of us in this room combined and so there's no way that that was just a throw in is obvious to me. Nick wanted to plant that and make sure people knew that. It's a great way to recruit people to come to to you which the guy hasn't started college football game and he's already signed a whole bunch of deals to make money to me. I don't think that's what this whole thing is supposed to be about. I don't believe that that is true. Market value. I think that's alabama value. Does that mean alabama there by the way i think. David shaw is one of the smartest coaches in the country. However will kind of matthew on a us but david shaw must've missed dion sanders admonition last week to. You're not supposed to call him nick. Come on david your you need to call that man the same thing. We all call him. coach sabin. So come on get with the program. Quit calling him. Nick about this headline here. Are you ready for a new players association. What's going on here. Is this really happening. Possibly and from the athletic nicole. Our back stewart mandel. This is interesting. The athletic director. Excuse me the commissioner of the pack twelve. Mr clear cough is suggesting and roundabout way that because the commissioner of the sec is on the cfp steering committee and may have also been driving this bus for expansion. Although that is not exactly the way the league puts it down the maybe the cfp expansion will have to take a pause. Not now again. This is a story to be digested and discussed and we will talk to nicole aerobatic later in the program. We'll talk to dean blevins you. Oklahoma fans know who he is He's a sports director out there. And okay see he. does a lincoln riley joe. Jim ross legendary announcer for wrestling. And one of the big fans will get the take on. Jim don in the former georgia coach. But what you may not know is that he was once the offensive coordinator under barry switzer at a you n. nico- arabic will Join us as what. And i have to say I realize every one of you can't listen or watch the entire four hours but if you ever missed a call that you need to hear again it was this one yesterday from will in austin texas. I'm here in austin. We get a lot of transplant. Those transplant they sure liking You know reaching out and saying things like this is going to be texas running the show. Texas is just gonna be one of one of many. They won't be the alpha dog and high still think texas is going to have. Maybe they don't get multiple seats at the table. But i still think they sit at the head of the table and the sec. I see runs through austin now. Haven't even been voted in the league yet and wills already talking. About how the sec. Runs through austin Let's talk to jim in north carolina. Hello jim gerrad head. Hey paul how are you doing. Well thank you. I was just calling in We'll help me out a lot yesterday for years. I'd wanted all the disdain for texas. And now i understand. It didn't take long. Did it no my goodness you know you know. If if that's their attitude. Florida but watch at texas may be become the most screwed to dislike and see. I don't think that will be a tough competition. primarily because you have so many The day the texas officially joins the sec. There's going to be a battle royale between missouri. Arkansas and texas am to see which one of them will hate texas most well. It was just kind of amusing to me. it said. They're going to get to chairs table. Well yeah. I can't wait for. I can't wait for them to tell sabin Hey man you need to go to the back of the room. You're no longer the the the alpha dog coaches room you do you think it. At the university of texas. They have crash courses in humility. No listen humility is not a word in the lexicon of the university of texas this. This is going to be fun and i think it's great. Yeah yeah and. I don't want to continue this conversation to. I don't want to do anything to discourage texas From coming into the sec. Because we're trying to make a living here on this program in texas. It's just giving us life security. Where yeah you need to send a check the will. Oh i yeah. I i've been calling out to austin all day. We're we're i can make a contribution to the texas alumni fund. I want in. Maybe maybe a direct landfall wheel Yeah we'll we'll should. We'll we'll ought to be entitled to the The private line that Some that former guy claims Ticket into this program. Hey thank you for the call. I do appreciate hugh is also in north carolina. All right are you there. Be patient here. It's been a while since she's been on the program. You forgot how this works. Walk that we'd get you on. Yeah well yeah a little bit different tall. I'm absolutely thrilled with the with the events that are going on. I just think getting back with strong geographical proximity to the teams that you have in your side of this of the division is going to be wonderful. I do have an issue with the with the claw deal.
