I think is You know valuing dates on what he's seen coming from the other states around the country you know, put my question I just from the commissioner from this conference ages was on. Do, you think in all the other conferences as the big ten. There's a difference in at the levels. Each school's at like. You know. Is there a discrepancy between schools in the SEC know being prepared or not like? He was saying Cropper's. Yes. I mean I think the bigger you are of the more ability you have, and and I think. The conference commissioner said a minute ago. Mean they're they're everywhere. Texas and Florida are really big areas They have an Alabama School I. Mean They have other school? It seems like everything has gone north to south and. Whether whether People WanNa believe what they hear or not. That's not really the issue. There are there are a number of pockets in the south that are under tremendous pressure right now as you saw in New York in New York Connecticut in New Jersey and now that has moved around. Those are not easily those are not easy situations to fix and I think the big difference between the three states I mentioned you. Had you had governors in those three states who were committed to getting to the finish line in the south? You still have a lot of resistance. Right well, I can only hope for the best, and I wish you well to stay safe and your crew. Time to Pause: Monday

"Start off our week with the calmed down countdown to help clear and calmer minds. Make sure you're sitting comfortably right now. Rest your hands on your knees. Set up tall gently. Roll your shoulders back. Close Your eyes. If he'd like I'm going to count down from three. All you need to do is take Nice. Deep breaths in through your nose. Ambrose long and slowly out through your nose if you want. You can time your breathing with the numbers whenever you hear number. Breathe in and breathe out in between ready three two one great today. We're going to practice loving kindness. This is when we send friendly wishes to people in our lives even though we are not saying directly to them so that they could hear it just by thinking or saying it out loud makes our hearts and minds feel good and we can share that positive and carrying energy with them as we think of them and when we do see them it also makes us remember them and think about them even more which will help make it easier to make kind choices towards them. If we keep practicing this we are going to say these words while we think of four people. May you be happy. May you be healthy. May You be safe. May you live with ease. Close Your eyes again. If you'd like we're going to start off with the person close to us someone you will live with for the rest of your life so you should make sure to take care of that person. It's you give yourself a hug right now and you can keep hugging yourself as you repeat after me. Either in your head or out loud ready. May I be happy? May I be healthy? May I be safe? May I live with ease? Amazing you can put your hands down now? We talked about loving kindness in our my Celia. Mindfulness episode and we explained that living with ease doesn't mean that life will be really easy for you. It means that you are relaxed and happy and able to deal with life now. Let's picture a second person. Someone that we love. Think of that person right now. What do they look like? How did they make you feel if this is your second third or fourth time listening to this you can always choose a different person each time or the same person it's up to you? Now keep picturing this person as you repeat after me. May you be happy. May you be healthy. May You be safe. May you live with ease. Well done. Now let's picture someone that we might not get along with very well. You might find it very difficult to be kind to this person. Keep thinking about this person as he repeat after me. May you be happy. May you be healthy. May You be safe. May you live with ease excellent. That might not have been easy but I promise you that you jested very good thing last one. Think of someone in your life that you might not know so well maybe a kid in school that you see sometimes in the hall but haven't talked to or neighbor who you see on the way to school. You might not even know this person's name but there there and that person has a whole life that we have no idea about family friends. Maybe a job. Things are scared of a favorite color. You don't need to know much about them to send them. Friendly wishes picture that personnel. While you repeat after me may you be happy? May you be healthy. May You be safe. May you live with ease. That's it you've just practice loving kindness. This is something that you can do every day anytime. Remember how he said that the people who think of right now will not hear us? Here's an idea. Call a relative or friend after this episode ends asked the GROWNUP THAT. You're with if you can just call and say Hello Adam. How doing maybe tell them what you did today. You don't have to talk for too long only if you want to. But it would probably brighten their day to hear your voice or even see you over video chat and you can do this every day. With many people practicing social distancing by staying home right now it is a nice way to stay connected social distancing. Does it mean emotional

From self-isolation to cancelled tours: Artists feeling the impact of COVID-19

"Started on March fifth and was supposed to wrap up on April twenty fifth a tour with stops in thirty one cities to promote their latest album warrior down but after only a couple of shows whoops oh climbed back in the van and headed Home Frontman Adam. Sturgeon joins me from self isolation in Sarnia Ontario. Hello Adam I hurry good So tell me where were you when you made the call to head home? We were in New York City. One of the epicenter stop so a little bit of risk taking their I suppose but Things seem to unfold very quickly once we were there. We decided that the best case scenario was to get back over the border Go to our sort of personal isolation stones and and just Take all the necessary precautions and in exactly. Where are you right now? I'm just starting On Lake Huron in a small place called camel lackey. And why are you there? Well Ah bandmate family was in a similar position to ours so we were able to kind of sell play slate together Because I have a toddler at home there was a lot of different concerns between day-care and trust so I'm not able to get home to my family just yet Better safe than sorry. How long are you going to be in self-isolation We'll we'll do this for For the recommended two weeks and must be very difficult for you. It's challenging of course but as long as the the Wifi signal which is just on the purchase is okay. We'll be able to facetime. I feel for my partner at home. Because the we've got a real wild child going crazy playing basketball and pulling things off the wall. I have really great support and I'm really thankful for her right now to now. There's a lot of effort that goes into planning tour rehearsing getting ready booking time off How did you feel when those cancellations started to add up? Well if you can understand it is disappointing. Of course in this was One of our bigger for a One of our larger tours and our first tour the US which we've been working towards for several years and we really waited and took our time trying to make sure that we were GonNa go on the best possible tour that we could All that said there there are much more important things in life such as our health and wellbeing. And we're all really levelheaded about it and we know that I will make all the necessary changes to to to make sure that when we can't get back on the road we'll do so in a good way so You know we're we're pretty okay with things come now. We're talking about the financial impact of cancelled tour dates and unsold merchandise and all of the stuff The two places bands make most of their money. What does this cancelled tour mean for your band financially? Well I think for the for the band were we're in an okay place? No huge losses But of course the implications trickled down. So Uh for you know we feel for the booking agents who maybe you're losing wages No we have to pay off the pay off a record a little bit and so You know the loss fails to do have back on us but What is more challenging for artists in our positions are making Making light of our personal lives so the types of jobs that we have outside of our music careers In in most all of us do have to have dogs inside of Music. Those are where the struggles become palpable. And so the lost wages here are Are Challenging again. We're you know we're dealing.

"Adam is with us on the show hello Adam how you doing great thank yeah I don't Hey you got a question for me about college so my daughter and get you more years to finish up and get our undergraduate degree and she needs money to help her do that so we're researching wall and I know I'm not supposed to cosign for her as a you know suggestion but all the long companies want me to cosigner long exactly and I'm nervous about that right is you should be so if she's beyond her ability to borrow under the federal student loan program yeah any loan you do is either going to be a parent plus loan or it's going to be in the call it something slightly different than that now but anyway the the parent loan or it's going to be going to a private lender to borrow in either case you're on the hook because your daughter being a student doesn't have the ability to qualify for that borrowing on our own and they're gonna make you sign on the line either way whether you do it alone that you are solely responsible for for a loan that you share responsibility for with her okay so what what I don't get get all this money now that the the current signing Florida for graduate school there's an unlimited amount of money and I find that most the colors I hear from that have massive amounts of student loan debt there are people who acquired that debt in graduate school or professional school where under the federal program you have basically unlimited borrowing well I guess like today's standards you'll be you know she'll be in that once you graduate thirty thousand dollars or even more than I like but that's not a tragedy you know the way I look at it and my formula over the years has been the trip wire is you never want to borrow more for a degree then what you're going to earn the first year in your job with that degree and so it thirty odds are she's gonna be fine at forty you start getting into territory where it could out run what she might earn her first year or so out of school hello hopefully that's not the case right now if you'd do alone where his her alone but you cosigned yes you need to stay on that like a hawk when she finishes because if she gets flaky or forgets to make a payment or whatever not just her credit gets ruined yours gets ruined to right so you want to have online access to the loan to make sure that it's getting paid every month just like any other bill whether you're gonna choose to pay it or expect her to pay a yeah what kind of differences there in the interest rate on the federal parent loan versus what you found fixed rate from private lenders I think it was the difference between like three and a half to six percent so you can get really you think you'd get a fix three and a half percent the the what they call it when you get from the government okay yeah see what whatever money you can borrow it three and a half you want to do that first as long as it's six straight and then after that there's going to be a lot of offers for various variable rate loan programs it'll have what what quite low rates don't take any of those only take fixed rate loans and compare the terms of each of those and with private lenders there are our last rights you have available to you later on then you do with federal so a private loan needs to be a good point well we're in interest rate before it's worth doing.
