"They're winning the minutes without Connor McDavid on the ice. Leon Dre's adults carrying his own line if I want 5. Like every single thing when we've been like, well, this team scoring a lot on the power play, but I don't know, these things worry me about them when they play a really good team in the playoffs. They're doing every single one of those things now. And yet it's going to be 7 coin flips against the kings and that brutal. So good. That sucks. Yeah, and they play a very annoying style and they never take their foot off the gas pedal and there's going to be no easy minutes in that series. So that's a brutal matchup. I think similar to what I said about Carolina. I'm very skeptical about Vegas. They're like almost a carbon copy in the west because their defensive system has been really good under Bruce Cassidy. I'm still, we've seen them in the playoffs in the past and I haven't seen anything this year that makes me more confident that they can generate really good chances against good teams. When they get into those games and so if they're playing Winnipeg, I think of the superior team, but against Connor hellebuyck, I could kind of see them tripping up in round one even though they're going to be a heavy favorite in that series. So that would be my pick as well. But yeah, it's tough to think of beyond, I guess, whoever plays Boston, like that's going to be a massive, of course. That's going to be a massive betting spread in terms of them being a favorite for the most part, all these other ones should not be that divisive, though, because or I guess they should be divided because you could really make a very reasonable case for either team in the series. Let me ask you this somewhat related to the overall question here. Which team, if you're the bruins would you want to face less? The islander the Panthers.

"And because Connor hellebuyck is the best goalie in the league if you are coming at him in straight lines. But those numbers, I won't say fall off a cliff, but they drop significantly. If we get into east west play. And one of the reasons Eric comrie's expected saber percentage is so damn low, the lowest in the league is because this team gives up lateral plays like there's no tomorrow. They're one of the worst in the league at it. And so that's a great case in point for not you can't just plug a good goalie into any team and expect good results. I would be very wary of putting a Connor hellebuyck behind buffalo system and expecting him to have the type of success he's had in Winnipeg where for all their warts. In two of the past three years, and when he won the vesna, they concentrated very well on limiting the lateral plays and allowing teams to create high danger. In a ways that played two Connors strength. And this was more teams should be doing. If you got a goalie with very specific strengths. And I don't think the way buffalo plays now placed economists. Well, Soros also makes sense from like, he's two years younger and has an extra year on his contract, so next year. One more year than he's a UFA as 31 year old. Please don't. No, of course. "It's a pretty advantageous environment for him to be and now he certainly held up his end of the bargain, but I don't know how you can look at them right now and be like, plan us all work is a better goaltender than Connor hellebuyck. I just kind of disagree with that and I thought that's what the vesna was about, but I guess I guess the awards market or the future is here seemed to be like what we think will happen, which is the voters will go that direction as opposed to what we think should happen based on merit. I totally agree with you. If I had to vote for vesna, I would vote sorokin for vesna. I think the numbers that sorokin has put to Io sorokin has 43 goals saved above expected in 44 games at even strength. He is literally or this at all strengths. He's literally saving one goal per game versus his like when you put that into that context, the islanders are a dumpster fire. They're roster stings. And the fact that they're even in contention for the playoffs, in my opinion, I wouldn't even hesitate to vote sorokin in first. Now, hella buck and hallmark is debatable, in my opinion, because I don't necessarily think hello buck is carried the jets this year, but he's been extremely consistent. It's just really hard to argue with that hallmark record. It's tough. So I mean, I wouldn't want to have to have a vesna vote this year because I'd be the guy that votes to rokin and I'd have some explaining to do and people would be like, how could you they're probably going to miss the playoffs? How can you vote for a goal that they would, if the islanders didn't have and that they'd be picking in the top 5 this year? They would, the wild thing is that varlamov is back up has also been probably like one of the ten best goalies in the league. It's such a good combo. They have an unreal combo of goaltending there. Here's the thing, rob. And I think this is what's going to be working against them because people see that and like, oh, well, both of them have been good. I bet you half the voting body is just working under the assumption that this is like the Barry trotz islanders where this is a good system for them to be in and that's juicing the numbers, which is just not factually correct at all. But unfortunately, a hockey people very rarely update their priors. And so I think there's just going to be some of that train of thought and that's why he's not getting the credit he deserves for the season he's having. So I've bet against the islanders more than any other team in the league this season. So I've watched a lot of islanders games. And I can tell you and I don't have the zone time stats up in front of me advanced metrics. If you watch the islanders games, they are mostly getting caved for the majority of the game. The other teams just cycle at will in their end, they're getting good quality chances. This is nowhere close to the islanders defense that we were accustomed to from years past.

"So many times you see like these kids do the Michigan on like YouTube or Instagram or whatever, right? It's like the goalie can't reach the crossbar anyway. Like that's not fair to the kid. But to me I wanted to, for this story and I was down at the I was at the all star break and used it as just basically a chance to talk to a bunch of guys that talked to Andrea vasilevski talked to Minnesota Mark, talked to Connor hellebuyck. Just talk to a bunch of goalies about what the threat of the Michigan does and kind of how it came to be. And there's two things that really were interesting to me about it. One is the Michigan as much as we think of it as a flashy as a flashy showmanship move. It actually came and became more prevalent in hockey because of the pendulum swing. So goalies for reverse VH, quick ten seconds thing, so reverse VH is the style of play where the goalie is is basically doing a post lean imagined when they load their shoulder into the post and they're staying down and everything like that. So that became super popular in the NHL and trickle down to the youth goalie camps and everything like that. And so the goal is basically found a new formula to play the post play from below, plays behind the gold below the goal line, everything will get and talk to a lot of goalies basically. It's kind of now, if you're going to lean on the post and you're going to do that and you're not going to and you're leaving that top corner there, especially for younger guys, the Michigan just became almost a natural progression of, okay, I'll just go right to that spot. Like, it said something where as much as in the old stand up style, puck's behind the net, the goalie standing there. It's not like you could flip and you'd sound like you could do that. It's because the goalie would be standing. And you would just hit him in the head. So it's interesting to look at the Michigan as a, and remember that it's not just showboating. "Yeah. I mean it was in the bubble. But yeah. They want last year. I mean, so they did. They did wage. That way as well. You're absolutely right. So yeah know their expectations are going to be like sky high as they would be. You know it's it's it makes total sense. They're going to have expectations to do this again next year. Montreal is in a weird spot and that's kind of the Point prices that even though he's thirty-three foot for a lot of goalies is, you know, nowhere near like the end. Yeah. I don't want to take care of prices near the end like that, but he has had his fair share of health issues, wage, and frankly, like, as well as he played in this postseason. I think he played tremendously, he hasn't been Super remarkable in. This might be controversial to say he hasn't been super remarkable for several years now. He's been good, he's been fine and he hasn't had a great team in front of him so it's not all him. I understand that just verify super see, okay, but if you're a Montreal fan I think that you've gotta and he's such a hero there. It's hard for people to talk about about him at all but like big band and pits exactly what caused be also a hundred percent. If you're, if you're if you're a Montreal fan I feel like you've got to know at some point that as good as he's been for your team, you're closer to the end than beginning. Yeah, with that. Well, they run their run was so improbable but we don't look at Montreal ago. They'll be back because they weren't even supposed to be here in the first. If they don't make the playoffs next year would be, that's why I would probably without having without, you know, the off season is going to happen, stuff's going to change. Guys are going to get you know, traded in resend that's fine. But I think that right now if you you know had to make me choose yes or no way, I'd probably bet against them making the playoffs and they're going to keep carry price but should they? "Shouldn't be that surprising that they're here and it won't be that surprising if they win the whole thing because this is ultimately the end of day, just a really, really, really good hockey team. That's incredibly deep, very well-coached, very experienced, very skilled. And when you run into that, you're gonna have a hard time. No matter who you are. And that's why, you know, despite what's happened, the past three rounds over on the west side with Montreal. I have to pick Tampa here. I just, I just because just because this happened before, in this same fashion with Montreal, they've beat teams that I didn't think they were going to be that people didn't think they would have beat, you have to look at everything. I just I just went over and I don't see how, you know, I'm short of the great story short of some momentum. I don't see a lot of on-ice ways that that Mantra can win, but who knows? You know, I hope that we're back here in in a couple of weeks and I looked on because there's a really cool Cinderella story that finished off, so that's what I'm rooting for. Yeah, unfortunately story doesn't win titles, it does. I love that to be the case and I, by the way, I've watched Pretty sparsely have been off-and-on. I watch game six. I watch dog. Seven words, game V game. Six of the the Montreal series. I watch five or six and seven of the Islanders lightning serious. I I'm really excited Monday night would still come out Monday morning. So Monday night is game 1 in Tampa and I'm going to watch every game of the series. I hopefully will be text me back and forth. I'm really like all in it feels more manageable to have one serious rather than to to watch and you can track of it the same time, but I like can't wait. I think it'd be really interesting. And it really the question is, can Montreal this massive Underdog. Even make it interesting. I think we're at the question, they going to show first of all, they're going to keep it interesting.
