"Heinz Field That should be like old school stuff. And last time when I was in Cannes, Doug Here's the best. I was in Ken and Franco Harris. I got a picture with Franco. And of course I always have to, as Frank was walking away to go. You know you didn't catch that ball, Franco. Hedges. Got to sneak that in there. Every reader fans always going to say that, but great stuff, and I'm looking forward to old Raiders Steelers like again. That actually means something because they're both want to know. I think that's going to be a lot of fun to see the silver and black go to Pittsburgh this week. I hope they can play with the same intensity they played with on Monday night. You know, it's fun to hear is one of the one thing I you have to give a kudos to the cameraman. I love watching the head coach down on the field was some emotion. I know these guys that are just all stone face, and they just stand there with their board up in front of their face. You know, Come on, you know, let's let's let's see who you are. Let's feared reaction. I mean, Jon Gruden. You know he's giving your face on the sideline. You know, the other thing I love about this game, the owner up in the stands showing emotion. You know, you know, I just think You know, like al sometimes in years, towns he would just sit up there kind of stone faced, you know, never really getting happier, You know, sad or whatever, but I thought that was a big part of it, too. I mean, to see your owner out there fired up. Well, the difference. The difference is the differences out in one his hair to get messed up. Mark Davis can't do anything to mess up his hair anymore than it is right. It's just the way it is, man. I don't know. I mean it just out. Davis was always like he's when you see the 30 for thirties like, Where's my brush? Where's my brush is just great, man. I'm going on TV. I'm going on camera. Where's my brush? Man? Gotta gotta make sure the hair is perfect. I loved it. Many had a little John Travolta and back in the day. Al Davis and He was a character. No question. But I am happy for Mark Davis because I know he went through a lot of scrutiny movement moving the team here, But he saw a vision to turn the silver state into the silver and black state, and I think they're on their way. If they can follow it up and make the post season this year there, Look, the potentials there got to stay healthy. 17 game season. Doug. I know it's just one more game but as a player You know, I mean, yeah, People go well, we don't want to see another preseason game. But yet there's some of the guys that may not have gotten a good look because they only had a limited limited action there in a couple preseason games, But it's one more game. Now that you've got to make sure durability wise that you're ready to roll as you get set for the postseason. What does it do for the players? Uh, I mean, are you for it or against it? I know the game checks. You know, the players are. They're still getting paid beaucoup bucks, but that extra regular season game. How much does it mean to, uh to the fans and to the owners and and are you in favor of it over the last preseason game? You know what I really am. I mean, you look at the direction the NFL has gone over the last couple decades. You know, it used to be much, many less games. You know, much less preseason, You know, Then they kind of expanded it to 2020 games and then had all these preseason games. You know, and 66 in the preseason 14. That was early when I first got there. I don't know. I think everything is a transition from one thing to another, You know, certainly are our life and the world has changed, you know, from where it was 20 years ago. So you know the rules have changed. You know why? Why not? Especially in this year? Based on all the things that have happened? I don't know. I just think another game. It's like therapy for the nation. You know, this is this is like a prescription of getting back some medicine to get back to where? You know you guys all were before this whole thing Hit everybody's happy or sad. You know, cheering football and showing emotion and going to games. I mean, just all those things dialogue now, you know, I don't hear about the virus as much as any more. I'm here to buy touchdowns and interceptions. From friends that I talked to on a daily basis. So I I just think it's really good. I think it's good. I think the players Yes, it's another game. Um, but, you know, these are really, um well tuned athletes and remember this, too. You know, the rules are not the same as they were 2030 years ago, or you will not feel and you just try to destroy the other team, almost saying hurt them, but hit him as hard as you can over and over and over again. And just let him know. I mean, that was a big philosophy with us in Chicago bears physical as possible, You know, start hitting them on the first play, and you know, by the end of the game, they're going to get worn down. You know, those have changed now. I mean, really. There's a lot of teams that I noticed in college Now they don't even play defense. They just looked like take football. You know, they just grab people and trying to pull them down. There's no more of that hitting targeting or there is, but you know it's going to be penalized immediately. So I'm just saying, I think that the game is not as physical as it was years ago. So I don't see any problem with adding another game. There you go. Okay, so great stuff from Doug Plank here. Our number two sports X radio Doug do not want to get into the Political realm of what's going on in this country. But as it crosses over into the sports world, and we have the Buffalo Bills now requiring fans at games.

"Of course being the oakland raiders at the heinz field. Home opener for your pittsburgh steelers. We sit here at one and oh and we are looking to advance to become to know in back to back seasons here. The steelers can claim. The victory against the oakland raiders. Today's podcast will feature exactly why the pittsburgh steelers will be victorious on sunday getting the job done and moving onto to in. Oh in this early early. Nfl season first and foremost the raiders are nowhere near the challenge That the buffalo bills presented them. And yes. I know everything that has to be said about trop games and how often steelers play down to their opponents but typically those home opening games the steelers will take care of business especially against teams that are inferior to them. They they end up more often than not winning. Those games Just based off the pure adrenaline that the crowd at heinz field. The gives to the squad and really this will be the first sold out game. That's the steelers have played in heinz field since the twenty nine thousand nine season. It's hard to believe it's been that long. Since the stadiums been rocking at heinz field and a number of pittsburgh steelers will be playing their very first game in front of a crowd at heinz field. Not just the the twenty twenty. One guys that came in but The twenty twenty group the draft.

"The pittsburgh steelers played their third preseason games the twenty twenty one season their first at heinz field. And the first one to see almost all of the starters play today we will look at what the steelers showed us and their matchup against the lions both the good and the bad. I'm your host jeffrey benedict. Welcome to the cutting room floor. An last week show talked a lot about the inside linebackers then at heinz field this week we got to see devon bush and new steeler joe schober play together for the first time as a pairing. They showed promise but also showed that they need more time than bush still needs time to get back fully from his injury and get up to. Nfl speed joe. Schober needs time to get accustomed to his defense to the steelers defense and his new teammates. Bush looked a little rusty. Like you would expect. He had a few plays where he approached a gap in the run game wrong. At least one time. He overran a play shumpert for his part. Look slow on his reactions and his assignment something you expect when a player is thinking about their role on a given play what their assignment is instead of. Just being able reaction la- relax employees. These are things that are going to work themselves out. These two guys need time. Need time in the steelers defense and they need time together. They're going to be all right. Now in bush and schober off the field they were replaced by roberts poulain and marcus allen those who played the rest of the game that was the steelers played. Four linebackers devin bush. Joe show bert roberts lane and marcus allen buddy. Johnson didn't play on defense at all. He only played on special teams where he does has looked good and he made a tackle in that game. Roberts spelane looks like he's locked down the job of the number three linebacker after you know. We thought he was going to be the number two guy. He's moved back to number three with the addition of schober. And i like him a lot better in that number three linebacker role. Marcus allen looked good. He has looked a lot better than he looked last season in this. Preseason he's really good in coverage on running backs and tight ends and even when he's thrown on a a you know a depth wide receiver. He's looked good He also has improved at hud. Blitzing where the steelers you know if you're on the running back especially if you're on the running back and the running backstays into block the is covering them turns into a blitzer and adds into the pass rush. Marcus allen is looking good there we saw him with a couple of pressures and with half a sack in this game. I think marcus. Allen is leading the battle to be the number for linebacker over buddy johnson over any of the camp bodies over anybody else. I think it's right now. It's devon bush. And joe schober is your starters. You've got roberts splaine as your number three linebacker and i think marcus allen is really solidified his hold on the number four linebacker spot and that pushes buddy johnson to number five on the linebacker list. Now the steelers generally keep four to five inside linebackers and forty-five outside linebackers for usually right around nine linebackers. Total is what they keep and that fifth the fifth at each position either position. Normally you've got you've got four outside linebackers four inside linebackers and then usually you get one more either outside or inside linebacker. Who's mostly gonna play special teams now with buddy johnson being fourth round. Pick and frankly he's looked good. He's looked talented. He shows a lot of promise he's just also showed he may not be ready for. Nfl snaps right now. But he's not. He's not ready to be a player. You rely on marcus. Allen roberts plane. They're ready. they're ready to be that player. So while buddy. Johnson really isn't one of the top four inside linebackers. He's a fourth round. Pick who shown promise. He's playing on special teams. He's playing while he had a special teams tackle against the detroit. Lions i think buddy johnson makes squad as the number five linebacker with a bit of a redshirt season. because i mean he's a fourth round. Pick any looks good and he looks like what you want to be like next year. He could be an upgrade on both splaine and marcus allen the way he looks right now he just needs experience he needs that seasoned to learn to grow. By the end of the season he could be moved up into a higher tier. The right now. He's not there by his promise. Says you can't really let him go. Which means for me. Seals are keeping five inside linebackers. They almost have to you. Can't you can't send your number four linebacker off the team. you're not. you're not cutting marcus allen. You're not cutting robert spelane. You're gonna keep them. You're going to have to keep buddy johnson too. What stands out to me. In that is we're now looking at if we're keeping five inside linebackers. We're only likely to keep four outside linebackers and three of those are set. Tj what's gonna comeback at some point. They're going to pay him. He's going to be he's going to be back playing for the steelers. Not just practicing by himself. Alexander smith has looked. Phenomenal and melvin. Ingram is a lock. He's our number three guy and he looked really good against the lions which is also allow the steelers to ease. tj white back in if he sits out most of the preseason you know if he misses if he misses the whole season they can still eat him in to game action. Because they have melvin ingram behind those three why highsmith in ingram the steelers have two young edge rushers who are competing and playing well in jamir jones and quincy roce. Now the buddy johnson marcus allen situation. Where really buddy. Johnson's almost locked to make this team as the number five inside linebacker in his all night opinion guys. This is what i'm seeing film. And this is what. I'm picking out from the roster not i don't have insider information here. I'm not claiming what the steelers are going to do. This is just how i when i look at it. This is what i see is. You can't let marcus allen. Go you're not let roberts bolongo buddy johnson. You've got to keep it right you. The ceo's almost half to keep five inside linebackers the.

"Do we cover the crazy viral video. That was post from the steelers. Lions game this past weekend. Oh this is amazing so as this was going on in in pittsburgh still preseason right fighter in preseason a man punches a woman after she slaps him at the lion steelers game so this was at heinz field in pittsburgh during the argument the women. The woman could be heard yelling. Get the f out in apparently makes contact with With the man then he says. Don't touch me don't touch me and then turns around paws off hits her. I don't understand a fight at a professional sports game. In general i love the lions. Look like huge fan. There is never ever my entire life or will there ever be a time where i'm like. I feel like. "Having a great drive burst through the trenches toward the end zone before getting walloped like pat williams mendy cough the ball up and madurai williams recovered the football at the three big break for minnesota looking to take the lead. The vikings would embark on a long drive of their own aided by runs by peterson and harbin. Far passes the rights for twenty-three shank oh for six in greg lewis for thirteen setup minnesota as they were approaching midfield. Tim would walk-off hobbled and far. Get up limping. as well. man. Things were falling apart here along. Pastor rice for thirty five was nullified because of a bryant. Mckinnie hold a few plays later. Rice was rolled out of bounds after being blasted by pol malo during a twenty five yard. Pass play big break there. But the red flag came out and the call was overturned. Big break there the vikings were cruising with a first down at the forty six after a run of nineteen by a pass to number twenty eight for eleven for. I've had his team at the ten yard line to follow farve. Dial up rice again. For touchdown what jeff dugan was nailed for tripping and the td was erased far passes to shaneco and ta he had the norseman looking good at the pittsburgh eight yard line what brett met brett and it was bad for the vikings we know about brett farve. But what am i talking about tony. Beard brett kiesel stripped farber of the ball and woodley picks up and he was off to the races. Seventy seven yards. Heinz field was iraq in that crowd was celebrating a twenty ten lead with six forty two remaining in the contest. Twenty to ten once again. Big deal tony. It would huge. And i remember for some reason i was watching the game over my mom. I can't remember why. I was by myself and i was just jumping up and down. And she said six forty two left. I thought it survived. Great drive by the vikings fourteen point swing because they scored a touchdown that was wiped out by penalty. Then pittsburgh came back. It's great defensive touchdown game over. That's what i was thinking at that point. Twenty to ten game over. Here's the thing though tony. The six and vikings were undefeated for a reason and they would not go quietly in the pittsburgh night or into the pittsburgh twilight. Maybe because it was still the afternoon. Percy harvey took jeffords kickoff all the way to the house for an eighty eight yard score. Harbin read silly on the run as well read. Tried to tackle. It was really bad. He was all over the place. The difference was three again in instant and also to make matters. Worse official was hurt on the play as well we you concerned more about the official or how bad jeff was made to look on this. Play tony as little a both. And when i when i saw the official get knocked at ground it looked really bad as far as Jeff read the effort they said on during the broadcast he should have steered him inside and it was just a horrible effort. He let me let him go to the outside. And that was it. The main thing. I was feeling at this. Point was numb because again as i said earlier i was thinking the game's over and just like that to three point deficit again with still over six minutes left in the game. And you've got a gunslinger like brett farve. And he was a king of the comeback back then as well but let's get back to the game. The steelers were looking to counter. But after first down they could not bend with sacked. The ball was not loose they recovered sepulveda's punt said only forty three yards in minnesota had the ball and three twenty one to either tie or take the lead. You talked about the sinking feeling. Tony i had it to. You knew what was going to happen here. it's brett farve here. We go far. The vikings quickly got busy when a twenty nine yard screen to peterson and seven yard passed. A taylor got them in motion. The vikings were in business at this point. The vikings could have gotten all in one shot. When i taylor had great coverage on a long pastor. Rice the saints all the way down to the steelers nineteen in arranged to tie it. Farben company were looking for the win when disaster struck. Tony farve screened. Chester taylor bounced off the running backs hands and into the grass of key. Aaron fox number fifty seven and what did k fox do at this point tony. He took that ball and he rates eighty yards for a touchdown and he was assisted by his Teammates played nice escort all the way down the field and this time the game was definitely over. It's ironic that chester taylor. The ball went off his hands because he was replacing. Adrian peterson who just made a great play. Like one of the most famous plays in my opinion. Ap's adrian peterson's when he trucks willie gay and picked up a big a big chunks of yardage player to earlier so one of momentum shift and whether way to put the dagger in the heart of the vikings and fox in the game because timmons was hurt. So that's another ironic part about this play. It remember care and fox was a guy that was a very valuable as a depth peace and we talk about debt pieces now today. How important they are to have but k. Fox was really good for team. He made a lot of things happen. His first career interception here. It was a big one for twenty seven. Seventeen lead minnesota. Well they would try to get in the end zone but this shake towns in had great coverage on harbin and harrison. Well he finished off far with sack. As time would expire to defensive. Td's for the steelers proved to be the difference. It was a very satisfying game. Tony it certainly was after got. What kind of a defensive struggle this game really was. i guess to defense obsessions It should have been but when you see twenty seven seventeen. You don't really think of defense but this was really. This is the defense of classic by two teams and they only scored two touchdowns in entire game and my right and is that a two defensive touches by the steelers kickoff return by the vikings it was really entertaining game. Despite the fact that the offense is weren't exactly killing it this game and you know the offense is were shooting themselves in the foot. Both got into the end zone and both had touchdowns nullified as well. So that's the thing to bring up. you know. This was the high point for the two thousand nine season. As later on that season mike tomlin tried to unleash. Hell that five game. Losing streak really killed them that season. The end of the season got better with a shootout guest. The green bay packers. We talked about that a probably a couple of months. Back on the retro show. That was a really fun. Game from two thousand. Nine thousand nine was a season where they missed the playoffs but they still did not have a losing season under mike tomlin. They still do not today. But this was a season tony that even though they did nothing with it with the momentum that they had by beating an undefeated team in the vikings here. This was the season that set up the two thousand ten afc championship season and a visit with the green bay packers in the super bowl in dallas. Even though that ended in a loss that was still a pretty good year as well. Tony two thousand nine campaign is a great example that good team just off the rails and not really recover until it's too late doesn't mean it's not a good team. It just means that they had a bad spell. They missed the playoffs. But as you said this is a team that went to the super bowl the following year. So i think it's a great lesson that sometimes even even really good teams can go into a slump and not really recover. Yes it was. That's a good point. One of the great out of conference games..

"Welcome back to the steelers retro show. I am brian athey davis. He is tony. Julius deaf man. I'm beating a dead horse. Aren't i anthony. Julius nephew tony julius. I'll take it ring to it now. I haven't really used that middle name most my life. Maybe it's gonna be my new thing. Maybe my signature. So i like it that said hey look down the street. You better watch out tony jones's coming exactly you don't mess with tony jolson especially on the internet. A lot of people don't realize tony. You're a lot nicer on the mike than you are on the keyboard exactly. I'm not even that. I mean it's all sports coni but you're doing your momma jokes solve sports. Really people take sports you seriously. I'm a lot nicer on the mike. Maybe i'll work on that in perfect my snarky persona on the mike. We'll see we'll see. I'm still early. You know what i think. Your articles are the absolute best in. That's one of the reasons that attracted me to wanting to do a show with you so you don't change tony and just like mc hammer would say. I'm gonna adapt his lyrics. He's dope on the keyboard and he's magic on the mic. Wow you are the man. I'm going to hire you as my agent. Pr guy fire become big. I'm telling you. I i'm telling you you're my posse. You're going to be my own man. I want to be like an entourage. I wanna be like e for you. Tony i'd want to be at least you're conciliator and if you become big thinking remember me. That's all that's him. I've got a lottery. Lists tony and if i ever win the lottery gonna play the lottery. But you're firmly on the lottery lists because you're my buddy. If i win the lottery. I gotta have fun and i'm to take people with me right you. I do people that bring you down at the end. You'll be on one of those Vice shows says we talked about hammer before hammer breath so many people from the neighborhood into a stage shows of the into his entourage and a guy would be standing there on the stage with his arms folded. And they're like what are you doing there like hammer tomio. Full my arms and stand here. And that's what i'm doing now. Hammer went broke from doing all that all those people were like. Screw you hammer. i'm out here. They use the poor guy like crazy. They weren't legitimate. Quit then right. Oh no yeah. They quit all right. This show is going off the rails in a fun fun way. Let's go back to the steelers. As they came out of the locker room with a first down ten to seven at this point to start the third quarter they started out at the twenty six and started moving the ball on the ground so the second year man rashard mendenhall and then nine while mike wallace tore off a run of six with fifteen yards on after a facemask penalty with a ball to minnesota something. You're in line tony. Don't have it right here okay. Soda territory. Ben converted a third and one at the eight with a personal foul on. Benny sapp tacked on not. I don't remember benny sapp was. He warns little brothers something. He's the acting like that on. Its play because they weren't headed out for the steelers thinking on his play when he committed that personal father was kind of a stupid from the eight. The drive stalled after sack in an incompletion to ward and homes lot jeff read old skippy your boy skippy tony. He salvaged the points by connecting on a twenty seven yard field goal. The steelers lead thirteen to seven with eleven. Oh nine remaining in the third tony. This is twice now that they should have been in for touchdowns and they stalled. They have settled for jeff. Reed points what are you making of this. Could they just not convert. Can they not finish. Certainly seemed like that early on and steelers defense was legendary back in those days. But you gotta take advantage of these reds and opportunities and that's you said this twice now that they had to settle for three seven alternately often comes back to bite you in the nfl indeed does nearly seven minutes later. Steelers HC Mike Tomlin hopes his team isn’t confident after loss

"Mike. Tomlin was in front of the podium. The virtual podium for add a thing. Well just we just talked to him next because the steelers had just lost twenty seven to seventeen against the cincinnati bengals on monday night football. Might tom had spoken to the media after the game. Obviously until on tuesday on a short week leeann week sixteen. The pittsburgh steelers absolutely need a win. And mike tomlin had a lot of questions to answer as the steelers. Prepare for the indianapolis colts to come to heinz field in the season. Finale there at the big ketchup bottle. He started things off of the recap of the cincinnati bengals game. He said the loss still stings. The steelers simply just have to perform better but he also mentioned that some things about team went from bad to worse and he was mainly talking about the team's poor starts. He talked about three turnovers in the first half essentially spotting the bengals seventeen points. He said it wasn't just the offense though. The defense failed to get the the bengals the field even with those turnovers. They never forced field goals. They must they gave up fourteen points in the last two turnovers. He's just a very poor start to the game. He said the score that the steelers face the way that they wanted to operate offensively. They couldn't lean on the run the whether they wanted to. He said the nonetheless with all of that said in his bad as the team was. He's vans cannot expect sweeping changes. He's a they just have to do it better when he meant it. He's talking about he. S to the steelers have to perform better. They have to plan better. He is still confident. You can't expect the head coach. The same thing different. He is still confident in this football team with the coaches that they have they. They need to shut their mails and go to work

"Let's check in with Jeff Hathorn at Heinz Field. Can a third quarter owned by the Denver Broncos, especially defensively. An interception by Justin Women fled to a Brandy McManus field goal, his second of the day, and then after stopping the Steelers on fourth and short. Broncos drove the length of the field, helped by a pass interference on third down and a roughing the quarterback by the Steelers. No offense, catching the touchdown from Jeff Driskel, then catching the two point conversion. The Broncos in this game, despite the loss of their quarterback and the loss of Jerry Judy for much of the game, although Judy returned in the last drive Steelers with touchdowns from James Connor and Ben Roethlisberger to chase Claypool, but Dealers just hanging on a 17 14 over Denver just starting the fourth quarter and again No Philip Lindsay for the Broncos today, but Melvin Gordon is 55 yards rushing and Courtland Sutton is playing with a shoulder injury. But Jeff Driskel right now, 10 of 20 to 1 72. Touchdown and an interception. So pretty solid relief effort by Driscoll Let's head to Philadelphia. Right now, it remains a tight one and fourth quarter underway. Here's Michaela Wango and a 24 19 now for the Rams, who lead this one in the fourth quarter moments ago. Jake Alia with 33 Yard Field goal for Philadelphia has second field goal of the game of the Rams, assuming the previous drive. Rams had a first God knows what that all first and gold all four but a pass interference penalty offense. The passengers first pure instantly killed that dream that this little for a Samuel Sloman filgoal of 30 Yards on that would make a 24 16 and just moments ago various Henderson with a 35 yard run for Los Angeles that gives them their 1st and 10. Inside Philip is 35 yard line. So we're in the fourth quarter. The RAM Los Angeles trying to add to our announcer this lead up by a score of 24 to 19. Alright, Thank you very much. Michael Owen, go the first quarter belonging to the Falcons of third to the Cowboys, and we have a game in Dallas. Here's Bob Stevens. Okay. We just completed the third quarter really tightened up. 18 K. Atlanta leading the Cowboys 29 24, but the Falcons with the ball now at the Dallas 12 yard line. Has not lion hit Julio Jones with announcing your past on 1/4 and two at the 40 hardline at brought it down Teo deep into Cowboys, so the Falcons collecting the Falcons and let it 29 attendant halftime that the Cowboys got back into it on a pair of touchdown in the third quarter. Dad, Prescott scored both the first one. Was a two yard loss was captive 74 Yard Drive set up by a 37 yard pass from Scott CDO. Am the rookie out of Oklahoma. And then the second one Crest. Gotta wondering one captain. Seven plates, 74 yard drives. And Antoine was by past to Lauren Cooper. A one handed circus catch was moved them they deep into Falcons territory. The novel Falcon on the once again after 12. That wine is 18 or twenty seven hundred three yards and cuts down. Two of the accountants quickly got three and 22 yards while Dad Prescott is 21 26 for 268 yards. Again. A big fourth quarter coming up and things have typed up here. 29 24 falcons, and they're on the move with the Dallas toward going. Alright, Thankyou. Bob. The 40 Niners have led the Jets throughout despite numerous injuries. Let's check in with Mike Mancuso. Okay, We just has become ugly. It's 31 26 40 Niners on top. You mentioned the numerous injuries on both sides. Really? Uh, but the Big one's Jimmy Garoppolo played the first half hurt his ankle. He's out. Nick Bosa hurt his knee in the first half. He's gone. Defensive lineman Solomon Thomas also hurt his knee. He's gone. Rahim Moto art Most Arctic Can't say his name right. The general he heard is the first half and he's out for the 49. No weapons for Sand. Donald even pyramid in Hogan, who started at wide receiver there, bowled out. They got hurt during this game as well. Just just been dominated all over the place line of scrimmage offense. This is the ninth possession. They have just two field goals. Uh, so completely one sided game for the 40 Niners who are looking to win for the first time this season. They stay. In the area and I'll play the giant's next week 8 50 remaining in the fourth quarter. 31 6 49 is on top, but they're going to have to get healthy in a hurry. There's no question about that. The Giants, incidentally, settle for a field goal in that last drive, so it's now bears 17 13 and Tyler Higbee has just caught. I believe it's his third touchdown of the day. The extra point is good. I get to cover Super Bowl 50 and Elissa. I was working for a station at the time that had golf on leading up to the Super Bowl, so we didn't have the game. We had golf. Well, guess what happens. You're standing outside of this incredible stadium outside Heinz Field, and I'm getting ready to do a Super Bowl. Preview show. But guess what golf had other players. We went into a playoff. Which means if you're in local news, you don't know if your show is cancelled or not. So you are waiting so behind me. They are kicking off Super Bowl 50 and I am standing outside of the stadium, not seeing the Super Bowl, not knowing what's happening, but hearing golf in my ear waiting, Elissa, I finally got cleared and walked into the stadium with some of the actual I'm going to call them fake fans because it's the people that you see. Down on the field during half time during the show that are out there and making it look all glitz and glamorous, and I only found out then that they actually are not all just real fans is actually a huge correlated event. How did I not know? Anyways? I didn't actually get into the Super Bowl until right before. Half time, So I still have to see it. But I mean, if you could just think that I'm like, Oh, this incredible experience and once in a lifetime, and then for the 1st 45 minutes, I'm standing outside. Just begging one of the players to please finish this play off that went into multiple holes. It was ah little bit gut wrenching at the time. Obviously. Incredibly excited that I got to have that opportunity. If you have a story like that, call us 1888 Say ESPN. And we do have a caller right now. J. R in Los Angeles decided. "Dea think that Cam Newton on the New England patriots when everybody for the last few months or so have simultaneously thrown dirt on the Patriots and elevated the Buffalo Bills. Do you think the. You have to bet right now. Bad Online. We'll hear about them in just a second go on Ben Online. Who Are you picking in the AFC right now? Well. Let's really break down the Patriots you know we're talking about. What's going to happen now that Brady's gone? How many! Hall of Famer Potential Hall of Famer and Hall of famers and Pro Bowlers. Have left the Patriots in the last two decades. Many men meant. Yes, that's all they do. All they do is turn over personnel or for the Sidebar to that is guys. Get thrown money by other by the other thirty one teams. I'll go hill. Replicate what he did in new, England is like no, no, there's some weird Voodoo that goes on up in Foxborough. That does not translate down the Tennessee or Texas or wherever else you're talking about right, so we're not talk. You know we're not talking about. What are the dolphins going to do without Dan Marino. Because they've changed show so much personnel on the offensive and defensive side of the ball over the last twenty years that if there's any team that is poised to turn over one guy now, he's the quarterback. Obviously, that's a super important job, but if anyone has proven that, they can swap one guy out for another guy, it's the Patriots. Of Foreign. Any other organization. And proof of that for any of the cynics out there, they're ignoring I know. It was a limited sample size, but Jimmy G. One every game he ever played Jacoby perset was was good as well when he had the takeover for Brady. Yeah, it's a and you know for what it's worth. Three BLEDSOE came in way back when at the start of the Millennium and beat the steelers in in Heinz field when Brady got hurt, so there's plenty of track record that you're going to be able to plug qb in there and succeed. It is interesting though that given the way Brady plays versus the way that same position and everything else. Else but wildly different way, but people say well how how CAM GONNA fit into that New England system. Have you watched the Patriots play? They don't do the same thing weekend week out. They always change it. They're obviously GONNA change what they do to accommodate number one now.

P. and and now you know how to Dougie well he'll be referring to the bureau of prisons so how much have these requests by due to covert nineteen you can create a dramatic amount we did an analysis using Bloomberg law you see what the increase in opinion just generally how many times judges have issued an opinion mentioning compassionate release for March and April and this year it was over four hundred opinions and we looked at the same period last year and there were sixteen a dramatic increase production the change that was made in a lock on the first day back in twenty eighteen made it a lot easier do you have to petition the gap before a federal judge the judge always had that okay it and approve it by D. O. P. when candidate keeper in getting it to the federal court he had to say okay in her quest to get before a federal judge the first impacted and that he'll be thirty now or thirty days that have passed then they can go directly to the court and the judge can can make the decision themselves baton in combination with and then I can really landing more of these cases there then there about the band you spoke to judge Jed Rakoff who's one of the most well respected judges on the federal bench what did he tell you about these compassionate release requests hold me in the past he had been a compassionate release requests before end menu he is a senior judge now on the brothers of New York and he's been there for quite some time yet not being one of the request for the pandemic and now he's been more than ten and he's also really notable judge in the area because he is and that when you buy a lot of other judges that basically allows that thirty day waiting period between when an inmate request a compassionate release to DO P. allows it to be where so it makes it easier for these inmates to get their information through the court actor and then a lot of judges have agreed with that been some courts have disagreed with the kind of a what we're seeing among the federal court but you know the ones that that you know what in the circumstance with the chronic virus this is okay in Maine don't ignore what their ministry of right before coming to our court so what's the reasoning of the courts that disagree with judge Rakoff wrote one of the court that disagreed with him one B. thirty seconds and they're basically saying just because the virus doesn't mean we can go against doctor does which you know it does say that you need to have their own parking they know or you need to wait thirty days before you can bring your photo court you know some of the other judges had said that that is really important more now than ever made your P. review meeting for quite first because they're the best situated but conversely I heard Robert can't they believe judges but the fact that you're in and oftentimes near request land before the judge to sentence the inmate and they know the case well and can make determinations about their situation and better than B. O. B. not it seems as if the judges are using different criteria to decide whether or not to release inmates and the decisions are all over the map is there any way to tell which request will be granted and which won't honestly right now it's really hard to tell and that's because this is the first time judges have been reviewing appeared on a lot of these issues in our in other areas log when judges are reviewing it for the first time you do see discrepancies and then get worked out over time but in this area it's happening within the span of a few weeks a few months during a pandemic you're starting to see those depressed crop up all over the country and it will take time as it does with any legal issue to you know get it up the appeal court and maybe there's a circuit what if someone killed by thirteen bring court and the Supreme Court argued that issue but until then we're going to have a different opinion across country and not part of the risk here is that similarly situated inmates are going to be a different outcome on different judges in different courts are there any numbers for how long it's taking to turn these petitions around I think it hang on the inmate requesting it depends on the court you know we've seen some court have a higher amount of new technician but in the end everything will they matter I mean you've got to have that with one judge you said thirty days before the pandemic is very different than thirty days during the pandemic there was another case where an inmate actually caught corona virus while he was waiting for him addition I'm glad I'm not case a federal judge and I actually would have granted the petition but now that you have coronavirus I'm going to deny it you can reapply that might be something that that we review at a later date but obviously the optician gonna take longer now because of the circumstances then it would have before we intend on the corner and and we've had a number of high profile releases from prison including president trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen and his former campaign manager Paul Manafort.

"A one seventy two hundred C. ultimate Chicago movie cage match the Sweet Sixteen wrapping up here we've got one more which we're gonna do right after the holidays on January second which would be the fugitive which of the overall number one verses Christmas vacation which is tough at this time Andrea algo verses yeah but the Grizz walls another movie just like Wayne's world that is set in Chicago but shot on a Warner brothers back lot is funny because the Olsen was here he was one of the at I guess there's a script doctors a rewrite on the film and he hung out on the set and they said they use shaving cream for snow on Christmas vacation so essentially next time you look to see the snow wherever they're outside maybe around the house or whatever that that's all the fun that's all done in LA but that's that's a point like what happens just like we had with Wayne's world that's a film that was the dark knight whereas Gotham not Chicago dark knight lost because of that argument and Alison cutting made a very strong argument that about last night was a better Chicago movie because of the fact that it was shot here and about here everything is here David Mamet everything sexual perversity in Chicago and dark knight DJIA's lost because of that because the fact that it had a disk that a little a little problem I I thought Mike bays are put up a good fight yeah because it is the Gotham by shooting in Chicago Gotham become should yeah I I I I I think you do you put up a good faith absolutely it's Berg though did they did this on the other side of the Heinz field they're all in black and yellow right yeah the bridge is right right all right so for this match up but it's a tough one I think for Chicago as but Scott you said eloquently that you know you have a goal coming into this cage match it wasn't necessarily about who trains moving on you knew you were the underdog but you had a goal I'll never make it to the pros baby but if I got five people to watch this movie and experience it I'm happy I mean if you have a wants to watch it that's all this is a moral victory I know I'm going down it it shouldn't be that I believe but I want to hold this movie up as I slide down it is a it is still to this day hold this one the best documentaries ever may haven't seen that one hasn't seen it watching hoop dreams risky business as we good closing arguments here as as a lot of people you know I've ever I like I said tonight motional attention the attachment is really a generational in the sense that people are voting for whichever movie they sort of grew up with we saw that with ease talking about Wayne's world but in this case risky business is that that you're yeah risky business and in my story and I understand the my story is not a universal or be particularly interesting compared to other people's stories but I think that movie even if you weren't like some affluent white kid in the north shore or whatever the other equivalent was wherever you live there's something about its depiction of a particular kind of experience call it a loss of innocence call it's finally understanding that the world you live in is not the rat is not the end the entirety of the world that I think is universal I'll also say that it was such an important movie in American culture we were talking about how many times the dancing scene has been parity how many lines we know for the movie in a weird way it's hard to laugh at the movie because we know the jokes and it's I'm glad to tell America that it actually holds up it deserves its place in our culture yeah I also got to tell you guys not being from Chicago for me one of the reason I want to pick this movie is that despite the irony of it not being mostly about Chicago that was a movie that spoke to me about what Chicago was like in that weird dichotomy of affluence and darkness and you know beautiful homes by the lake and things that are good a year and darker and more mysterious that meant a lot to me and it's something that stay with me even now that I've lived in Chicago for twenty years your true Chicago and through and through thank you risky business moves on in and the poll numbers fifty six percent for risky business forty three percent we came we moved to another many friends got you you have to see who dreams it's a brilliant movie about real people living in the kind of Chicago the Joe good some would never have seen yeah and it's a a great film and deserve to be in the Sweet Sixteen and maybe a different match up maybe gets adventures in babysitting hoop dreams just flies right and a quick shout out to medium cool and thief and all the great Chicago all the greatest guy didn't make it we love in the memorial section all right Peter Sagal wait wait don't tell me Scott Goldstine comedy improv daisies restaurateur guys can't think enough for coming in as risky business moves on I'm I am amazed because what a worthy opponent and where the Phil Mazel Tov thank you Sir season and.

"It is the final segment. We know the hour we've been talking about streaks of all kinds individual teams winning losing years. Whatever you have yeah we got through interesting one There towards the end. It's remarkable in its own right As you know organic is it might be but the Washington generals what was the Number that we actually came up with here Mary. Two thousand four hundred and ninety five straight losses to the Harlem globetrotters for the Washington generals and it should have allegedly continued except they accidentally beat them one game one hundred ninety nine. Well you don't want to let one team on you. Yeah you don't WanNa lose twenty five hundred street games to anyone team in any sport regard. I don't care who you are. I don't care about the talent discrepancy and you know I it even goes to show Elliot blind dog finds a bone every once in a while once in a while. The Washington generals are going to find a way to defeat the Harlem globetrotters whether it's accidentally odd purpose or accidentally on purpose and losing streaks are kind of amazing. The browns won one game at Heinz field. That was back in two thousand in three and they play the Pittsburgh steelers every year. Here's one of the kind of shocked me is that the Cleveland Cavaliers have not won a game in Miami since two thousand ten includes includes the four seasons that Lebron James returned to the cavaliers since twenty two Miami just holds them out south each and we did a strip club study.

Where Does Cam Newton Go From Here?

"Jeremy the first line of your story is. He can't go out like this. It's kind of crazy to me that that is even being said about Cam Cam Newton in the first place. If you look at the situation with the Carolina Panthers and Cam Newton a guy that called Superman of former. MVP It is just hard to make sense ESPN NFL writer. Jeremy Fowler has spent the last few weeks reporting on Cam Newton's future going into the season of you to tell me that Cam Newton would potentially be on the way out of Carolina and there will be this big mess I would not by any stretch have believed you before we get into the confluence of factors that led us to this moment. Explain why it's so unusual to even be having a conversation like this about a quarterback like Newton will mean. It is crazy because he changed the game game. This is a guy that was bred to be a winner from his days at Auburn he won the national championship number. One overall pick set rookie records Kurds for total yards on winning. MVP in two thousand fifteen three different seasons of ten or more wins. Everything was lined up for this guy to be a top five top top ten quarterback for the next fifteen twenty years. Just terrible lineup. What an improvisational improvisational play by CAM? Newton he altered the way. We look at the style of the quarterback position. Because we've seen running quarterbacks before but this is a guy. I was flipping into the end zone quarterback. He's making the superman sign with his arms after scoring and and you know he was Such an imposing figure that he looked like a combination of a pass rusher linebacker and a running back coming at you full speed and the whole the mack truck. That was something ended. The League really hadn't seen before goodness isn't this is the NFL. You're not supposed to be able to do that. And then there was the off field appeal. This is a guy who would show up to. His press. Conference was a fashion show. He's got the bedazzled hats glasses being able to be Orally gifted. There's something that I think. A master to a degree. I mean this is a guy that we couldn't take our eyes off of whether whether he was on the field or do you think his style of football in some ways impacted his body in a way that led us to this point it has to be a factor. I mean we're talking about a guy who's taken eleven hundred plus hit since two thousand eleven and more than half of those have been in the last four years since around two thousand fifteen. That's more than Russell Wilson. More than any other guy. Things have piled up on them as a result he was all about power shear power that was part of what made him so great. He did bulldoze you in the open field. He could run for the thirty yards and so just. The pounding as a result has clearly affected where areas now so the first few years of camps career sort of builds towards this magical season in two thousand fifteen. He's the MVP and it all leads up to the Super Bowl and what should have been a high point for him ended up being a low one the pants lose and perhaps unfairly the the indelible memory for a lot of people is the fumble. He failed to recover. Do you think that game changed perceptions of him roll. It stripped him of his invincibility. One one personnel told me the Denver took his Superman Cape. They took it away and he was never the same after that. And that's probably unfair because it's one game on the the biggest stage but you know. Denver played a certain way where they kept hitting them. The seven six rushing four-ball comes out of the hands on the ground still on the ground picked up by the yard line. And since then cam sense of some really good moments but it's been a little hit or miss even on the field when he is in the lineup and so it was a turning point for a career that was at a wildly high trajectory at that point you're talking about not only an MVP season but he could get into the end zone. Whenever he wanted that year it was just? He played a pretty much flawless season. And then it all SORTA changed after that game so that super bowl will is kind of a turning point for Cam than what happened last season in two thousand eighteen well last season he was a potential. MVP candidate after the first eight or so weeks. The panthers are sitting at six and two Newton looks great. He's got nineteen total touchdowns you know he's rushing but he's also being patient the pocket making throws so this was a team That was on the rise and was sort of recapturing. Maybe the magic. They had a couple years earlier for that. Super Bowl run so it was nothing but promising at that point an annual in early Donovan. Where you go to Pittsburgh you go to Heinz field? You're thinking this'll be another turning point for your season and then TJ comes the blindside. He knocks Cam. Newton he runs right into that right right shoulder into the turf and he had already been on the injury report with a shoulder injury. They didn't think it was serious at that time but watts shot clearly reaggravated things to the point where by by the end of the year he was struggling to throw the ball. Forty forty five yards. I mean it was pretty ugly out there right. I mean he wasn't pulled but I remember number. They stopped using him for Hail Marys I N. It became apparent that something was deeply wrong. Throw by CAM. It didn't reach. The end zone landed fifteen yards short of the goal line. This is a guy that could throw sixty five yards on a rope. And so they're taking them out putting Taylor Heinecke of all people to throw a deep ball. I mean there couldn't have been a deeper foreshadow for maybe the problems that were rising with Cam Newton's future alright so he ends up shutting it down for the last two games of that twenty eighteen season and in the off season. He has some shoulder surgery but by the time this season starts it seems like he has recovered and things are looking optimistic again for Cham. How does the twenty nineteen season actually began for him throwing the ball? He looked pretty tentative. No touchdown passes in the first two weeks. He didn't really look as comfortable normally. Does you know that you can win games with them but certainly not an MVP level that. They're there used to so after the panthers second game against the Bucks. It's revealed that Cam has some kind of foot injury but nobody really knows what's going on right. There's a lot of mystery around the injury and all of a sudden campaigns out this fifteen minute youtube video go here we are just record. I want to be brutally honest. The video was him. Basically Chilin in a hat and glasses passes and he's in like this leather black chair and he opens up about his foot injury as I'm about to jog around realize okay. Uh I feel like in the game but it's like something missing. There was a bit bizarre. But it's it. It was good that he came on spoke about it. And try to provide some clarity and in that video basically said got hurt. preseason hurt the foot against the Patriots this is where I got him away because automatically. I got play we go. I can't let fans down. He basically told coaches. Hey I'm good I'm all good. You know I'm Superman. I can continue to play. And then once week two-headed reaggravated the injury. What happened offended with this footage metatarsal bones and they separate from the base of the? That's a list rank injury but if it's a really bad separation or some sort of break then usually need surgery. Cam has not had that yet which pretends everybody to believe. He's got a sprain but a pretty bad one just hasn't healed yet but he doesn't want to have surgery. I'm able to get the time off for me to. He'll get back to one hundred percent then. I have no doubt in my mind everything everything that we won't as a team can still be accomplished. He made clear in the video that they need to go away and get back to what I was. and that's significant anytime. A player says that that means they're out that doesn't mean they're going to rush back to play and so he basically new I think at that point I was GonNa shut it down

"Money from your wife listen to the show people call in and left and right for route your pay scale you made me all kinds of money probably pay my mortgage for al I love you for I'll make love to me all these things are happening. the car ride are going to LA Thursday so early then tomorrow night after the show when we go on a Thursday we leave after the show on Wednesday night at like four in the morning and then we get on a six ES amor on a bagel jet airliner nothing is finer. all rights been trying to get me to get new self help books to work on my life repertoire always reading a self help books to try to improve myself and better myself. I don't do that John Gordon guy he told me to read this book that book to you know make life better for me and everyone around me. well before I read you know penthouse on the flight and that didn't seem to do anything for me in terms of helping my life at all but. I did get some bad articles that went well I mean the bedroom moves I I learned were. pretty impressive when you think about it very insightful letters to the editor there by the way I'm on episode seven mafia halfway through number seven of the boys there's only one last. that's a great that's a crazy kind of said that was only themselves and thirty been filming season two so that comes out like early next year so to make its way to like summer something it's a great show thousands you know you all you have all the superheroes of going on forever that this one is whether or not perfect in the kinda you know those jerks the scum of society but everyone thinks they're great you know via closed doors is not what it sees so it's awesome to see I like that twist yeah it's really freaky I thought it was really good and violent I just thought it was fantastic the amount of really blood guts and gore thank you I just chaos right on that show you everything is least six you know when you least expect it you don't see it coming. by the way Sunday it's an animal on CBS double header with a full day of games including the bill defending their home turf against the pats followed by the Vikings bears at Soldier Field in a key NFC north battle it all begins with our team previewing the day's games on the NFL today. at noon eastern on C. B. S.. so there you go anyway I wanted to tell you about these spreads that I'm seeing. for the NFL on Sunday. so Thursday you got Philly Green Bay that line is four and a half I sighed even earlier tonight tonight at five it's still four and a half here where I'm getting it in Vegas and then Sunday Houston mine is four and a half Bobby and you get that on there because I thought I saw it on on like he has been a five is four and a half in Vegas you can still get it at. Baltimore Cleveland Baltimore laying seven there giants lane three to the red skins. Chargers lane sixteen of the Miami at hard rock in dealing seven to the raiders Detroit laying are getting six and a half from Kansas city. buffalo getting seven at home from the pats Atlanta laying for to the Titans in Mercedes hot town Atlanta GA Yang Ying Yang Yang. rams lane tend to Tampa ten now at the Coliseum. Seattle's lane five to by the time I get to raise an eyebrow about Arizona. there you go. and then not Chicago laying to an after the Vikings at Soldier Field coming off their win Monday night quick turnaround play Sunday they hate those Monday night Thursday night games these players and the jags are in Denver Denver lane three they're all in three lane three and then on Sunday night Dallas lane two and a half to the rams I got it at three when it came out right and then Pittsburgh on Monday night playing for. the bangles at Heinz field in Pittsburgh. so. any of those stand out to you they're carver high any of those games in particular stand out to you like the bills online I know you don't like betting on your team when they have a big gamer like any game for that matter you don't bet on the bills the no I never get involved you just fandom yeah it's too much emotion there's just too much emotion involved in me. I I'm not gonna look a clearly so that's when your game one something like that you can lead a motion get too far involve that happens with me when it comes to the bills see that every other game there's not every game on the card but if there's games that I liked and absolutely I'm going to get involved he like the saints chances against cowboys Sunday night. I do like the saints chances I think that they're gonna absolutely be in the game I think that games going down to the end. thank the saints come when I do I do tell. the Broncos are home Landry the jags in Denver CO valley when a game right now I like the jags on Sunday the bears and Vikings I see right here not yes and they got a bears minus two. that's even better mafia way into with the bears than two and a half yes give me just a game because both those just such strong defenses and the office is haven't really clicked at full speed I mean you've heard you seen some good plays with the Illinois digs for Minnesota but they're really going just cook just passing the ball as much as they can so they're not you know run up the score like people thought that my what causes thinking he's a sling the ball over the field so I was gonna be a sloppy game I think that's gonna be you know in the trenches war just coming back and forth at each other a lot of parts and eventually someone goes go about because of the high score that might be a good under his another one Texans minus four and I had informed habits minus four here again retailers. the strange line. they're begging you to take the Texans. I don't like the line I think the taxes what when the game normally I'd you know that it just screams to jump all over Houston they're the better team a much better team back to back weeks on the road for Carolina. the kid guy Allen playing quarterback. something the right there. just not right now they should be favored by more than four and a half for whatever it is what about the giants with Danny dimes laying three to the woeful red skins and New York at Madeline's. I seems really low especially given the fact they can and can't seem to get the ball to his own team there five turnovers in one game though only be done if you'll go on the road that seems fishy to me I think both teams sock so I I think it's just about there I know that he had a great. game last week but it's one game you need to see him do it again before you really invest heavily especially moving the line that much just off one game against Tampa last week I had the six and a half I loved it the lines are getting six and a half from the cheese can they hang with my home sweet home with everybody else right. if I'm with everybody Chargers came into their building two weeks ago Chargers and chiefs supposed to be you don't want to the better teams in the IRA. Philly date they play well against these teams at home so maybe they can be but now you're also talking you bring the chiefs indoors on a fast track. man. you know that's gonna be a while game know how that it that has a chance to be a really delight me over there thirty four. the big over I don't actually feel like The Lion D. has played well the last couple weeks what about bad Monday night game and that's where the bangles and Steelers the Steelers are land for and their winless and so the bangles I think the bangles have gotten progressively worse although you know they were. they were in their first game and then they were in the bills game they came back and had the lead. yeah I like the Steelers here a little later for I'd lay even more than that I think the Steelers take our finally they take out and and three start. on the bangles this Monday night I just see the the the going that way Thangal sucked they're they're one of the two or three where Steve the only. wow so don't seem to be to me I feel like I can land right on the line I mean this amounts that even have it as a board a hawk again if you get that hook I might be inclined takes its tonight it to match them and just stay with about four points. so I guess the one of the questions is can Kirk cousins when in Chicago I mean because I I think the bears defense is going to mess with them. I really don't I and I loved all the cook and I just there's something about that bears defense it's for real and our plan at home and that guy I told you at at U. S. bank he's great I mean he really is good at home and on the road they looked you know really average are you willing to agree with that or do you think that the Vikings can go in and be done more than just average just described her cousins whole career I mean that the guys always average is what he's been he's but of course that's a get the big one throws away you know doesn't take the smart play takes a rescue one pays for but then again you have so much faith that your vested against that Vikings defense either when they finally got going as residents but their offense been horrible all year I think that to basically look great last night all things being equal to Gabriel three times you cannot deny that he looked good last night last night he look like for the first time carver high like it got it one twelve games last year now grant you a lot of those winds were because of the defense yeah he got it going a lot with Gabriel specially last night I thought they move the ball pretty good Redskins as we know not great terror getting he's gonna get more of a challenge against the Vikings on Sunday but I think the bear de they will eat cousins alive at their place being in Chicago. I like the bears a lot and so did you see the falcons game when Jones content touchdown pass and took it away from two defenders in the corner of the end zone is so strong and big any got that ball do you think that Matt Ryan and Jones hook up and they finally look good in a game against the Titans and win at home or they just just gonna keep losing and they get their coach fired number what I always say about the Titans they win the games that you don't think they're gonna win they lose the games that you think they are going to see the other one in this I think the Titans might win on Sunday and well well well well what do you thing mafia. I think marriage got tired of reading right down his neck right now so you better have a good performance otherwise he could lose his job by mid season that's a very good point as well eight five five two one two.
