She was scared but it was really interesting. And the one thing i do is i dragged my family into some some fun stuff. I think they're fun so we did. We did that. This one is my son and.
Vaccines with Heather Simpson
"Today we're talking about vaccines well. More specifically about the toll. The anti vaccine movement has taken on our public health. Let's start with some basics x one of the most successful public health interventions in human history. They've saved millions if not billions of lives. They protected generations of children in the us and around the world from deadly diseases and right now the surest path out of the covid nineteen pandemic is to vaccinate as many people in as many places as possible but that of course requires wide scale public trust and participation two things that the anti vaccine movement has been working really hard to undermine vaccine movement has been growing in darkness for decades and now they've captured the spotlight as an is fear uncertainty to so doubt and spread lies about the coupe nineteen vaccines their efforts have been amplified by public figures who used their platforms to elevate debunked conspiracy theories and all of this is made much much worse by lack of accountability from social media and technology platforms themselves. The nfl move hurting our ability to recover from this pandemic and it could affect which vaccines this generation of kids received well beyond covid nineteen. So what can we do. How do we fight. The powerful tide of disinformation that began long before this pandemic and has unfortunately gained momentum during it. How do we overcome mistrust around vaccines and help more. People get the facts that they need to make the right decisions for themselves and their families while to answer this questions. I'm talking with two people who are confronting these challenges head on later. We'll hear from my friend. Dr peter hotels vaccine researcher and advocate and co director of the center for vaccine development at texas children's hospital. But i i'm talking with heather. Simpson a mom who fell down the rabbit hole and then pulled herself back up. Heather is an activist a freelance writer and a mom to three year. Old daughter hers is a story of how effectively the anti vaccine movement entraps people and a reminder that it's possible if not always easy to change minds. I started our conversation by asking heather how she went from someone who had always gotten vaccinated then anti-tax social media influence my mom vaccinated all of ice. It wasn't until i was eighteen. I had the choice to get my meningitis shot. And i hate needles so on. That alone chose not to get it going in college which was stupid. I did get the tea dot in two thousand fifteen. I got the flu shot school. It wasn't until me and my husband really started trying to have our daughter that we were like Should we do the schedule. I mean we haven't given much thought. And a documentary series popped up on facebook as an ad and it was nine hours a just pure propaganda. It was doctor after doctor blaming everything under the sun on vaccines so by the time. You're done watching all nine hours of terror. You're not gonna wanna inject your kid. I mean i was terrified. I was thinking if we inject charlotte. She will die in her sleep that night. The strength of the fear that i had was so so strong i was ashamed a little bit a little bit embarrassed about it because my mom groups were so pro vaccine so it didn't really tell anybody but when she was about eighteen months old i decided to start talking about it casually on the internet on facebook and it just took off and i didn't realize that their birth thousands and thousands of antibodies mom's on facebook that had all found each other and that there's this huge huge growing community and they just accepted me as one of them and it just took off from there.

Harry and Meghan Announce Birth of Second Baby, Lilibet Diana
"Harry and again had their baby girl and they named her little bit lily bit diana now i think having a middle name be. Diana was not a big surprise. I think a lot of people predicted that. Somehow someone did put out little bit a while ago and i don't know where i saw it but it was definitely before they announced that that was the name and then a juicy scooper wrote to me and said. Do you think it's a little bit of diana is maybe you're like heather. This is in every paper. But i'm just saying. I just got it and i thought a little bit of diana. She's a little bit of diana. Anyway congrats to all the young mothers running around montecito. that wanna be friends or go to the same preschool. Once you become friends with megan taylor. She's got an invitation. They were prima ballerina. They were really sharp hotel for long time and it did affect their hair line long-term so there is a lot of concern of when she's just going to release that ponytail and just like let herself be
Menopause: What the Heck Do My Labs Mean?
"Let's jump into today's topic. Which is how to interpret your labs. Now a reason. I get this question. A lot is because a lot of times. I find that the women who are asking their clinicians to order these labs either do so disgruntling. -ly were they don't do so at all. And they're left to their own defenses to try to interpret. What their labs mean or on the flip side. If they're willing to get labs sometimes. I see way. Too many labs be ordered like every progesterone byproduct. Which just isn't really necessary. So i wanna try to teach see how to interpret your own laps now. The first thing that you do want to know is guessing where you might be in the peri. Menopause to menopause transition now guessing actually means thinking about what your period are doing now. The diagnosis of menopause is actually not period in twelve months. In that is the most obvious predictor. So think about what you're periods are doing. That's going to be the first step in interpreting the lab. Work that you're getting so what i want you to do is either electronically if you pull out your phone and you start writing down when you have spotting or any type of bleeding that point to be really helpful and if you're one of those women who doesn't get periods anymore than this is something that you don't necessarily have to track but you could track what you may be think are. Pms like symptoms. So who are the women that don't get periods well if you've had a hysterectomy you don't have your uterus anymore. That's one reason you're not bleeding now in this scenario should have your ovaries in. Because if you're over his were taken out than it obvious that you're already in menopause. The other reasons you could have a progesterone releasing udine place in your uterus which is effectively creating a very thin urine lining. So you don't have any periods. You coulda had a uterine artery. Embolism action where you don't get periods anymore or you could have had an ablation and you won't get periods anymore. If you're not getting periods you can't use your periods but you may still beginning. Pms like symptoms so you might wanted then track. Are you feeling bloated. Are you feeling gase. Are you feeling moody. Are you craving salt or chocolate. Things that when you used to get your periods would let you know it was the hormonal fluctuation leading up to that
More lockdowns less crime
"Wall Street Journal article again By Heather McDonald Today. Quote. The media and Democratic politicians attribute to crime increase to the pandemic and the attendant shutdowns. But the violence surge of 2020 began only after the George flight void. Ryan's more than two months after Cove in 19 doesn't devastated the economy. Also no industrialized countries. So anything comparable crime dropped in the United Kingdom in Canada, where lockdowns for even more severe than in the U. S. So there's down Colfax data thing that just keeps getting in the way. How does that happen? Was definitely the lockdown. It was the lockdowns that did it. Ah, yeah, We're not really seeing that whenever they seeing that Because the rest of the world had lockdowns to in crime went down, lockdowns up, crime down, lockdowns up, crimes down, not suggesting lockdowns were a good idea. I'm suggesting to you that the correlation was an inverse correlation overseas. More lockdowns last
NCAA to Allow 100% Capacity at Baseball, Softball Championships
"Nc double a. is expected to announce today that the baseball and softball championships will allow one hundred percent capacity local and state guidelines allow. That's the key there depends on where where the where the situations are but mo- most are going to. There could be people that don't and that's really big news if you remember on march twelfth. Last year the day the the covert became a global pandemic as the was cancelling. The basketball tournament was also canceling everything else and think about how different things are right now. We're we're almost back. Wouldn't say normal momat. Maybe i would say normal anyway. It's good news.
Can You Use Hormone Therapy With a History of Vascular Risk?
"For the average woman. The risk of blood caught on oral hormone. Therapy is one in a thousand and this comes from the women's health initiative and that was statistically significant. Now the reason we care about blood clot to a one. We don't want you to have any type of blood clot but we care about it because if a piece of that clot breaks off and goes to your lungs you could have. What's called a pulmonary. Embolism which certainly could be life threatening. So we don't want you to have bled caught and we definitely joined boy so you don't have a risk for a pulmonary. Embolism now the risk of pulmonary. Embolism you take that one. Step further on oral Equine estrogens was much lower than that and no statistically significant so we just need to point out which is sickness statistically significant on trans dermal preparation so using dial which is the bio identical esther. Dial but again. Fda approved bioidentical estrogen. You don't wanna use compounded non. Fda approved esther dial on the transdermal preparations of dial the patches. Bright in the gel. The risk for blood clot is is lower. It's about one in two thousand now. I want to tell you that the risk for blood clot is highest in the first three to six months and after that timeframe it pretty much goes down to zero so to say this in layman's terms if you have been on your hormone therapy for more than six months and you haven't had a blood clot. You're probably not because your risks going to go right back down to zero. Your risk for blood clot does not continue to increase like every single year. That doesn't make any sense. What could increase your risk for blood clot is if you have another cardiovascular or vascular disease and that's why if you're on hormone therapy you wanna have your annual visit with your menopause doctor and discuss with them any new medical conditions or diagnoses that you
Facebook Upholds Trump Ban but Will Reassess Decision Over Coming Months
"We're waiting for this past. Week was the fate of president trump's ban on facebook facebook's oversight board ruled that for now the ban will remain. The board ruled that facebook was justified in banning trump but took issue with the indefinite suspension calling it vague and uncertain. They gave facebook six months to decide if the ban is permanent and also to fully explain their decision in the meantime president trump has launched his own site where you can get his statements in a twitter like format for more on why trump remains banned on facebook will speak to heather kelly technology reporter at the washington post. They came back with the sort of split decision. The way the board is set up and again it is created and funded by facebook. The people on it are chosen by facebook but it is considered sort of separate entity. And the way it's set up is that they have two parts every decision. I is binding not legally. But like i dunno gentlemen's agreement with facebook that facebook will do whatever the first part is and that is if it's going to overrule its ban or pulled it and in this case it did uphold the ban of trump and the second part is a series of policy recommendations and facebook is considering its suggestion that go back to the drawing board and come up with a different punishment as policy recommendations and that means it actually doesn't have to abide by it but it is going to have a public reply sometime in the next thirty days so they give them six months to come back with this new plan on it and basically. They said that when they suspended him it was vague and uncertain. They should have decided re going gonna permanently ban you or not so. That's kind of where that whole thing lies. The president did respond in say that free speech has been taken away from the president of the united states. As we remember this all goes back to the riots on the on the capital from january six and and a lot of the statements that he was a posting on his social media. So what were the specific things that they were ruling on the specific post. They did look at the two posts he made on or around january six. They also did look back at past posts but those weren't taking this much into consideration. It was really about the final decision and what it included and inspired post hit expressed support for the people at the capital
Making Sense of a Disappointing Jobs Report
"Guesses were at a million jobs added to the economy. Last month we got two hundred and sixty six thousand. The unemployment rate went up. So let's discuss showing knew richardson is at. Adp rather long is at the washington post. Hey you too high so nila let me start with you and and ask you straight up. Does this report mean we have to rethink. How we're thinking about this recovering. Yes i think that the the consensus was that we would just see million dollar Excuse me million job months for the next several months and now we see that the path ahead is just going to be more bumpy. It's bumpier than expected and we can expect a bit of volatility in the month to month numbers that doesn't mean that the recovery is underway is just not going to be a straight line smooth curve from path to finish start to finish so that's something that we have to reconsider Because the bottom of this thing. Heather was really really low. I i do want to ask you heather about why you think this happened and also about with secretary. Yellen said today's white house briefing room in response to a question about unemployment benefits. Having possibly put the kibosh on people looking for jobs. What do you think i think. There's two plausible explanations for what went on here. Number one is the way wall. Street's reading it. Which is this is just a blip happens from time to time. That months are come in very higher very very low partly because of these weird seasonal adjustment. Quirks that can sometimes throw the numbers off. And that's why you saw stocks still go up today despite something that should it looked like a bit of a warning but i think the bigger and deeper issue here is. There's still a lot of hesitancy to go back to work. there's hesitancy because people feel safe enough vaccinated yet. There's hesitancy because of the childcare issues and a lot of schools not being fully up to speed yet and been fully back in person and there's also a lot of hesitancy. Psychologically just been through this really harrowing
Podcast Advertising 101 with Heather Osgood
"Heather so grateful so happy that you're here with us to get started. Your background is awesome. Because not only are you somebody that has experience in radio sales. You've been in account executive in the newspaper business and for ten years you had your own trade show production company. I'm curious to start. What lessons did you learn in those roles. That helped you on your podcast. Yeah i earned. Oh much from. I would say all of my journey and the starting an odd sandals was nearly everything that i needed just to kick start my period because we started what i think is one of the hardest things sell which radio advertising and i was rounded by all of these amazing sales people who taught me so much and more than anything. They just really taught me the art of persistence and not giving up on the goal that i had set for myself so i really feel like that foundation and radio. Sales really helped pave the way for my entire career so yeah just a ton of learning lessons. I doubt i don't doubt it in so let's talk a little bit about the name. True native media. How did you come up with that name. Why did you choose to do something that uses those words. Why are those words meaningful for you. Yeah so trimming of media came from the idea of native advertising. So if you're not in. The advertising thieves is essentially a wet native. Advertising is ads with in content that feel like content so of course advertising whenever trying to trick anyone whenever trying to make them feel like something is content when it's actually advertising but we look at the types of ads that people respond to the onto advertisement at feel like an experience that you'll let content the something that you want soon and the value podcast. Advertising is host read endorsement ad right and snow. When i'm listening to a podcast and my my favorite hosts that i really know like and trust is they're saying garage like pros made my hair. Absolutely beautiful like vice. Have to go check this out. It doesn't feel as much like an ad as feels like media friend of mine recommending a
What is Surgical Menopause?
"What actually is surgical menopause. Well is actually quite simple. Although it can seem confusing if you have both of your ovaries removed and nothing else that is surgical menopause. You could also have one ovary removed and then a year or two later have the other ovary removed and when the other overcomes out and you are left without either of your ovaries that is surgical menopause so to make it really easy. It's when both of your ovaries are removed again. Just to clarify you can have one ovary in and that is not surgical menopause because that ovary. Ken and i say that with a strict that over can still work perfectly. Fine and you won't be put into menopause. If you have one over just like you can live with one kidney. You can totally live with one ovary now. What if you have your uterus removed. It makes no difference in terms of surgical menopause. So let's go over a couple of different examples you could have juster uris removed and both over. Stay in that's not surgical menopause. You could have your uris removed and one ovary removed and that is not surgical menopause. Because you got other over still in you can have your uterus removed and both of your ovaries in that is surgical menopause. Just to drive this point home again. It's when both of your ovaries are removed irrespective of what happens. To the rest of your pelvic organs mostly your yours tubes in her cervix. Now what are the indications for having surgical menopause for having both of your ovaries removed. Well there's several. But the one that i ended up seeing most commonly is for risk reduction so we doctrine well if you have undergone risk reduction surgery and you're listening to this you definitely know but for those of you that don't a risk reduction a surgery where you remove both of your ovaries is typically indicated for women who have a genetic predisposition to usually ovarian and or breast cancer so female cancers in general a perfect example of this is a brakha mutation and many people have heard of brakha mutations. It was very much in the news. When angelina jolie phone out. She had a bracket mutation and so she underwent risk reduction surgery that means angelina jolie was put into surgical menopause when her ovaries were removed again to decrease her risk for ovarian
A Prayer for Clarity About Your God-Given Purpose
"A prayer for clarity about your god given purpose by heather khalil read by liam martin. The lord will fulfill his purpose for me. Your steadfast love. Oh lord endures forever do not forsake the work of your hands psalm. One thirty eight eight. My old friend. Pedro leaned against my kitchen counter. Drink in hand and asked me a question. I knew i should be able to answer. How is god using you. These days heather at the time. I didn't give myself credit. For how i already served god. I couldn't recognize god's purpose in my ordinary life. Because i didn't really understand what purpose was i couldn't see it. Even though it was right under my feet cure four things. I got wrong about finding my purpose. One i thought purpose was a fancy destination. Not a long dusty journey for most of my christian life. I assumed finding my purpose was like a cosmic job search. I should put together a mental resume and seek out job openings ministry or serves opportunities that fit my profile. When i landed up purpose. I should keep it for life in truth. Our purpose is an ever evolving multifaceted apprenticeship to jesus not a single clearly defined role that lasts forever. I found great comfort in realizing the ebbs and flows of my life or booth modeled in scripture as in wandering the desert anyone and reflected in nature as i witnessed the cycles of tides moons and even my own body. I'm on a
How to use progesterone, the right way.
"Needs to take progesterone. Well you need take gesture on if you are taking an estrogen and if you have an intact uterus now i want to go over why you need to take it if you have an intact uterus. And that's because the main role of progesterone is to protect your uterus from unopposed estrogen. So another way to say this as if you have your uterus. If i gave you estrogen in did not give you a progesterone. You would be at increased risk for uterine cancer. That would make me a very bad doctor. That is the main reason to take professor in a really. Wanna say that again. It is a main reason to take progesterone so this is why if you don't have your uterus which means you've had a direct any the slang term for this partial. His direct meet remember. Partial hysterectomy is just a slang term full. Hysterectomy is a slang term. Those are not medical terms but usually parliaments district uterus removed and foam means uterus removed in either case. If you've had your uterus removed you do not need to take a progesterone. So the caveat is could you take progesterone yes you absolutely could take progesterone in the case where you don't actually need one so for if you've had a hysterectomy and you're taking estrogen only in what benefit would you get from it. Well intriguing many. Many hundreds of women are really not a ton benefits from progesterone to write home about except for one big one which is it can be relaxing at bedtime so for some people can help them fall
Matt Gaetz sought blanket pardon from Trump
"Matt gaetz listen to this. He asked before. Eddie we knew any of this. He asked the trump white house. When i was still office. If you can have a blanket preemptive pardon as as innocent people do for any future. Crimes isn't even festive. I just a blanket. Pardon donald donald trump today spoke out on this. He said that is bullshit. He said it is a total fake news story. Everybody knows that. When i was in the white house all legitimate requests for pardons had to go through the kardashians and today it's in the news with matt gaetz a report. It was reported. I don't know but that his associate in this endeavor with the young woman is pleading not guilty but is going to change it. Guilty and probably testify against matt gaetz and say that matt gaetz. Listen to this us then mom to send nine hundred dollars to this guy who then sent the money to the women which ironically is one of. The only times that trickle down economics has actually worked.
Land of the Giants: The Google Empire
"In nineteen nine hundred. Nine marissa mayer was sitting in the most important interview of her life. It was at a startup called google. That needing was at their conference table in the main conference room at one six five university which also happened to be a ping pong table. Meyer would go on to become one of the most prominent executives and silicon valley from two thousand twelve to two thousand seventeen. she was. ceo of yahoo. The back in the late nineties. She was still a student at stanford about to graduate with a master's in computer science and google's cofounders. Sergei brin was not going easy on her sergei did all the talking and quiz mutants. We allow different computer. Science topics had me draw out. Like the graphing of k means clustering and and centuries and how to find the differences in the centers. And things like that. Meyer was a star student so she answered those questions problem. But there was another interviewer in the room and she noticed something was a little off with him. Larry seemed quiet and truthfully obviously somewhat distracted. Larry page the other founder of google. The pair wrapped the interview utterly. They had something else on their minds and the the door opens like you kind of hear. What's going on her side. Then i heard the call and say okay like who's going with us for the kleiner. Pitch kleiner is kleiner perkins the legendary venture capital firm. And i heard a lot of foot traffic heading out the door and then heather horns. The office manager reappeared and said i'm sorry. Larry and sergei had an important venture capitalist pitch this afternoon and they have taken the the majority of the company with thumb. So i think you're going to have to come back tomorrow.
Menopause Myths Debunked
"Average age of menopause in the United States is a 51 the average age of entering perimenopause in the United States is 57, but that's just the average there's a bell curve to everything. I have plenty of patients in their mid-to-late fifties who are still having regular periods and on the authors. Decided that bell curve. I have plenty of women in their early forties or even their late thirties who are experiencing perimenopause into menopause or the menopause transition. However, you want to do it and then there's an entirely separate diagnosis of women who have premature menopause which is menopause before age forty and early menopause, which is menopause between ages of forty five forty-five. So really you can be admitted pause at any age any age the youngest patient I had back in Ohio was seven fifteen and the oldest patient I have is about 57. So I mean what a huge and range and there is no way to know if you are going to be the average person. There's no good. Crystal ball. There's no way your family history can totally predicted. There's no genetics that we know. There's no Precision medicine that we know so we do not know when each and every one of us is going to go into menopause because job A perimenopause is its own Beast that people don't think about for many many women. They start to experience menopausal symptoms in late perimenopause. In fact, they did a wonderful YouTube video on this so Health by Heather Hirsch is my YouTube channel. I definitely recommend checking that out and I just did a video on how to tell if you're in early versus late perimenopause, but symptoms of menopause can definitely start before the textbook definition of menopause, which is one year of no menstrual. So you can never be too young to have any
Heather McGhee explains how racism keeps everyone from having nice things
"Heather mcghee welcome to the podcast. So glad to be with you so your your book is called the some of us. What racism costs. Everyone and how we can prosper together. i'm going to admit right now. I'm not done with the book but a deep in the book and it is terrific in helping folks understand. Basically as the question starts why we can't have nice things and the key lime and see if i can find it here and all my in all my notes Comes in when you talk about Swimming pools which people have read reviews of your book or even your your op-ed in the new york times. The swimming pool is a metaphor for so much in this country. But there's a key line in in that chapter. That has stuck with me. As i've been reading the book and as i read about things in the papers today and you right warren and montgomery these are two towns in alabama warned in montgomery were just to of countless towns in every region of america. Not just the south where the fight over public. Pools revealed that for white americans. The word public did not mean of the people. It meant of the white people talk about phil flesh that out for us so this is really the question john. Has you know. I spent twenty years in public policy as a wonk trying to move economic policy solutions to insecurity and inequality trying to convince lawmakers to do the right thing in an economy where one percent of the population owns more wealth. The middle class where nearly half of adult workers are paid too little to make ends meet and and it just felt like i was hitting an iceberg. And i didn't know how deep it
EU and Britain try to broker a vaccine supply deal as leaders discuss blockade
"War between the U and the U. K seems to be in avoided after discussing plans for more controls on vaccine exports. In an effort to improve the rollout of doses for member states, you leaders finally decided not to impose restrictions on their exports. The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, had warned against blockades which could affect the number of jobs sent to the U. K. You is insisting, though, that AstraZeneca on the other vaccine firms fulfill their deals with the block before exporting any jabs. The whole row has highlighted the difficulties in supplying vaccines at record speed. The time. I need to set of great need. We could speak now to Dr Lose Breen, Academic of University of Bradford, who studies health operations, including supply chains. Thank you very much indeed for talking to us here on news day. Just last if he could some of the difficulties in producing so many vaccines in social to space of time. Give morning. Well, I think we all are very familiar with vaccines. We will become experts pretty much overnight with regards to high vaccines are are procured either meet on Heather ruled out within any country, but it is incredibly complicated. The race for vaccine was very intense. You know, we had a novel of investment globally with regards to get in these vaccines that we've been very lucky that we have secured so many vaccine candidates as they call them, But it has come at a price. I think in that respect, and we can see that some some parts of the world have prospered much better with regards to you. Accessing vaccines and Cushion there might their patients getting the jobs into the arms more than others, And that does seem to cause some concern. And certainly this case was regards to you. "We were invited to something on friday after nikki's dinner and terry. I looked at each other and went nope going home. Yeah you know. I really am own. I mean i just kind of you know we did. We kind of did stella's party. Which i was in her like pod from school plus cocoa one other friend right suite. You know it. It probably looked a little bit. More like enron lots of kids but it really was just kind of you know pretty contained like that and then you know we'll see you guys every now and then and then like two other families and knocks it and we kind of all are just trying to you know. Stay ourselves and be as you know as awful as we can. But that's that's really it. So i kind of figure we'll do or opened up. So are you kind of open to staff at this point. Have you gotten strict during your thinking to where you're not really doing any groupings even close friends. You have been doing stuff with like. Would you still go to dinner with nancy. Nancy and the couples. I don't have a problem a well. I think it now depends. I think we're going to start offering on a case by case basis and just be really smart. We're not going anywhere cancelled. Our plans were dug in got some time off which i think is great. I i my answer is i. don't now. I have to think about because going out to dinner with one couple. If i knew that they had been at a party. You know two days earlier with ten other couples that puts us at risk right. And i do have a daughter immune compromised and i. I don't know. I don't know. But i don't want i don't want to harp on it. I feel like day by day. Things keep changing. So let's just enjoy these good moments. Yeah and the best thing. Is you know do what feels the best. At that time it might be different tomorrow. Exactly exactly you're good to have a plan b. and to figure out what that looks like so to your point so we did these little parties which i feel like we're very safe. Today's the twins real birthday doing family dinner at home like we always do party hats your family dinner on their actual birthday. Yup is what we usually do. So we're giant night which excited about and that's it and then we. I made a reservation for dinner at a restaurant for thanksgiving. Is we all know. I don't cook chef. Heather is retired. Although i am going to make one thing tomorrow russia heather. I'm gonna make pralines dairy free. Pre i love it. I love pralines. My mom used to make them. They're so good and chef. Amanda posted a picture of them. And i texted her. I'm like oh my god. I need that recipe. She sent me the recipe and told me to use ripple ever have ripple so i just bought their dairy free ice cream if anyone's dairy free out there because it's always been a struggle with me because you know i hate coconut most vegan ice creams or dairy various grimm's or coconut base. And then now max to she likes coconut but even still but ripple makes ice cream. That i have to tell you. I think it's delicious. But they also make they make like a like a half and half a creamer milk ish thing. I don't know what it's i can't remember. It's made of off the top of my head. But that's what amanda said to use it at so it's it's dairy free. Yeah that's cool. So i'm gonna make those but anyway so we're going to go up for thanksgiving and That's it yeah here we are But it will tell you that it's like i. I don't even know how much of the second actually talk about. Well let me talk about something positive. I have you ever heard of tha d'allest So it's like the to do list but it's like things you're proud of kind of like that. So here's the thing so you know we all make these lists of things that we have to do. Yes by the way. You'd be very proud of me. Because i did. I swallow the damn frog today. did you out. that's my mother. I'll tell you about that. But the tallest list is like i did it. So instead of making these huge lists of everything we have to do and then feeling like i didn't get it done and instead of focusing on what you've done you focus on the things that you have left to. Do you make your two dollars. Which is like you know what i did. Today i organize the kitchen. And i bake the cake and i took a walk and i made the phone calls that i need to. It's your and it celebrating everything you did instead of focusing on the stuff. You didn't get done love it. You'll have a to do list or the only antidote. I don't really write a be. I just became aware of this yesterday. So i can't really speak as an expert at the And i've sort of fallen off the wagon with journaling. And i'm gonna try i think that's my resolution for twenty twenty. One is to try to bring it back. Journaling on little subjects at are important to me. That could be books. One day or things that i want to focus on and remember but i have been writing like a free flowing journal morning minute type of thing which i'd like to get back to so i haven't written down the two dollars but what. I have done what i did do today for. I got on with you. I.

"Dubrow world, and now you can live in two times a week right here on podcast one welcome back everybody. Okay. So by popular demand. We're going to do another cue as session here. So many of you have asked me to bring back dear, heather over the last couple of years and I'm going to that's part of my plan for Twenty Twenty One and thank you guys offer your responses and more questions and everything and and I'm so excited about the direction we're going. Anywhere, but for today. I have a ton more questions. We're not going to get through the mall, but we'll get through some of them. There's a recurring theme of I, the F., and how Terry I met and stuff. So I feel like that needs to be its own whole moment but I, think with some of these questions we may tap into some of that. Lot of you asking me if I'm having a better week this week since last week socked and the answer is now I actually got another huge. No yesterday's that awful. You know it's crazy instead of feeling. Defeated for some reason. I felt like Yup okay. All right. Well, that's the way the trends been going. How am I going to turn that around because I always feel like you know the things that I try to do or the content try to make sometimes I have to rely on other people rely on networks you rely on agents you're on all these other people and wait for answers and wait for you know people to watch your tapes and your cereals and all that kind of stuff. But Anyway, I sort of just. What okay. So what can I focus on? What is important to me right now what am I gonNA focus on and that's and that's what I did. But I got a lot of questions are when you're in these moods when you're feeling down and all this, what what do you do? So business wise like I just said I. Don't know why I just hit like the proverbial wall I guess it was just so many knows and I just like it was almost comical and I might okay going in the wrong direction or the timing isn't just right yet or something but. Do, you do to pull yourself out of those moments for me definitely working out I was so good at the beginning of lockdown and then I got bad and then I stopped working out gained weight and I was telling you guys who started going on Old Lady Walks. And then I started I do get a couple of questions about Tracy Anderson and I was doing tracey Anderson the tapes the beginning to get some muscle tone and all that that I'm not getting by not going into the gym and I had stopped doing it and I did start doing that again about a week ago and I'm telling you I feel so much better like my body feels better I almost feel like I was getting old and creaky crazy you know Terry and I when we sell our skincare and supplements a lot of questions about that too. We'll get to that hopefully. I'm. One of the things that Terry Terry says, which always shocks me every time he says it is sitting is the new smoking and that is so crazy. But if you think about it the less you move the less you move and I think that people as they get older if you get creaky or you start have pain, you don't want to move because it gives you pain and then. The less you move, you know less you're able to move because your joints get stiff and your muscles get tight and all of that stuff. So it's so important to keep moving and you Lindsey had said I don't know this was like six months ago she was like Oh my gosh I'm Gonna I'm doing this thing where I'm lying down on the floor and getting up I'm like why she's. Because I read this whole thing about getting up off the floor is really important to do as you get older unlike your thirty eight year relax. But still a very, very good points. I'm so glad my very smart friend very athletic doesn't need to be able to get off the floor right now because she can friend. But it but it rang true to be, and so I thought you know what? That's why I feel worse because I'm not moving and that doesn't mean you have to run a marathon every day doesn't mean you have to kill it. I I not running at all. You know because of my he'll issue and I'm really not working out hard like I used to work out but I will tell you in the last week or so I'm working out better and I feel better and and just the act of working out. You know you do get those endorphins and you do expend energy and all that. So that's one thing I do the other thing that I do is. In the morning after I dropped the kids off. I come home. So it's a different routine than used to be, but I come home and I do this thing where I drink a glass of lemon, water. And just water and I squeezed fresh lemonade and the nutritionist Dr Lycos told me to do that and so I do that and then I drink this coffee to Terri and I are developing this coughing I, know are we always developing products? It's crazy but it's kind of like a brain coffee and I'm not typically a coffee drinker because it always giving her decisions but I loved his coffee and so I have of samples and everything's I've been drinking coffee and I make it with. Chocolate peptides in it and I put a couple of Stevia drops and then I use this coconut milk. What's it called? Are I know I by the way I, realized I linked almost everything are talked about last week except for that bracelet with the heart so I'll have to remember to do that. But I think it's called Khalifa. Coconut milk, I don't like almond milk and. A, lot of coconut milk don't taste like creamy too fattening this very light, but it still tastes criminal. It's delicious and I mix that up and I drink that and I just sort of sit down and look at my emails and just. You know look at social media a little bit before I started the day and I. So enjoy that incentivizes just those little rituals and those little things that can sort of pick you up out of your doldrums. All right. I get asked a ton. What is something that people don't know about you? This is totally random and maybe slightly odd but I don't listen to music in the car. Don't listen to anything mccart I have car ninety, nine percent of the time is quite. Weird. That does that okay. So I'm going to tell you why do it so back in the day? When I moved to Los Angeles I was a came from the musical theater world and and I moved out here to be an actress and you know I it's of waiting tables I got a job singing at Disneyland, and then from there, I met the sky we put together his fourteen piece big Dan basically instead of like waiting tables that was my job that is higher under living for four years and so when we first started. We played a lot of weddings and we did club gigs and stuff like that was fourteen piece big band. Now, you can imagine how loud it is to stand in front of fourteen pieces. For like five hours it's very loud and we didn't have those fancy earpieces or anything that was old school. We'd big monitors in front of us and ban was really loud and everything. So I would sing with the band for four or five hours and then get in the car to drive home because I was. So weird is that all of our gigs I living in La and basically all of our gigs were in orange, county we used to play you know at this place called Bureau Peretti's. At south coast. Plaza and then we did a lot of gigs like at the at Newport or and at the montage and the Ritz and all those hotels and everything and private events, and then eventually we got more La gigs which was great. So I didn't have to drive so much and we actually ended up being the house band for the nanny. instead of having a comedian warm up the audience, which is what they typically do. Sit Com tapings because you're there for so long they had us there and we'd play all.

Because, you know, we didn't need things we did talk to everybody. And, you know, me, I don't like to talk to a lot of people in this talking a lot of people. I don't know. Hey, thanks for where you hook greatly. Yeah. So I was just going to look at that cake. Individual cake. And at the very beginning of remember all those different stations of airtime types of food, didn't need any of them, by the time we did it was cold. Right. It was cold and been there. Remember, they gave us that huge spread in the room. I was just telling you know, catch. But it was like it wasn't fresh right in the thing. That's not how I remember. No. It was great. It was great. "You're listening to Heather do broS world not that good Cova last night. Because after the whole Oscar thing, right? I wanted her to go to bed because terriers looking for some romance. So, and you know, he had told me earlier in the day. Okay. I have been apart for a few days. And so I wanted her to go to bed right like bedtime. She can't you stay with me till I fall Z by. I think it's time for your goals. All stay here for like, ten minutes. Rub your head. And then I think, you know, and she started hysterically crying, and I begged gimmick blaze goes there. And he did he did he's been so good this weekend. I had this secret special errand had to run on Saturday. And I said you have to come with me because I have to bring cocoa, and you have to watch her, and he was like really pleased came with me so cute at lunch with CoCo is really nice. That's good. He's such a good always. So sweet not. Ever seen him. Not sweet. I mean, of course, everyone's different their family when you're casual not one time if I ever seen him, not not just sweet, but like overly consider it. He's a very good boy. But you know, I'm as bombs so he's going to walk all over you. Of course question. How is your morning this morning because I posted something on Instagram this morning, and I've already got so many comments getting back into the routine. Yeah. Because the kids were off for a week and here it is Monday the first day back. Yes. How is your morning? I just cushion an extra half hour. And so it was fine. Like, I feel like they need more time to get up and get into the routine. So I did everything earlier too. So I literally planet extra thirty minutes. So it was super smooz. So you woke them up three minutes earlier and let them happened thirty minutes earlier. And then we still got out right at this normal time. Like, LeRoy took an extra half hour. Honestly, that's genius. Like, I feel like if you know, look I knew going into the night before. And like, okay, I'm gonna lay out all the clothes put up a lunch things out. So it's like a quicker thing and just start thirty minutes before. And so then it's not as painful because otherwise I started to be like, I've asked you ten times together bit of Ed. But this time it's like I woke them up. I got one dress like you can just take a little bit more time with it. And then you don't Li they don't start their day like hurried in raising your voice. Oh, it's so smart. How did it go for you? Not so good. So I got up the normal time. And I woke did my normal routine woke up Nikki for his notes. So crazy I wake up in age order to really wake max up for as she takes longer. Yes. Have to start doing that. Anyway. So I woke the twins up laid out Nikki's toothbrush. I always did. Got max up and said hi to Mark the tortoise and then went into get the little ones and CoCo was sleeping in cat spat. Okay. Because I think she was upset last night because I had Nikki go in there. Want to come in my ribs as you went into poor cat was Zo gnawed anyway. So cocoa slept in their woke them up and from the moment cocoa odor. Is. She was crying and whining. It's hard to get back into it at you're going to bed late waking up late. It's just and the freedom. Yeah. Totally. And I totally got it. I wasn't even I didn't raise my voice. I was not mad at all. So understood I just kept going. I get but she was just crying wanna go. Don't wanna go to school yet. I just give today. Like, Honey, I know I understand. But you gotta go, and I just kept talking or just keep moving along and moving along and brush her teeth for her like, I'm her ladies. Helped her with the closed like I'm or ladies made pull up underwear. Cut off the tag. New thing. She great fuller..

"This is Heather do pros world. Here's Heather open. All the presence everyone's eating biscuits bef- this before we started building. We're sitting around the table, and everyone was just really happy and sweet and nice and the whole thing art. So everyone knows that I want this new wreck we've talked about this, right? And it's been such an issue for years, and whatever. Okay. So we're sitting there, and I go I have one more gift for you. And he goes what? And I don't want the ring. Really like genuinely genuinely don't want. It. Why is that? Okay. So here's what happened. And now you're going to remember that I started saying this to you a few weeks ago. So what happened was? I kept saying because we keep meeting with different jewelers. I keep saying I want something special. Right. So I think because I don't like to see myself coming going hate, what am I biggest pet peeves is when people copy me, I'm not talking about like, oh, I love those shoes whatever shoes, but like some cool design element in my house or something. That's very particularly me. Like, right. I shall piece of jewelry that I have. Yeah. Something that screams. Heather, you know, I it would bother me one of my friends like did that. Okay. And that not that that's happened recently. But it's happened to me in the past. And I it just bothers me. I don't like it get your own thing. Yeah. And so every time I keep looking at stones. It doesn't matter the size. I'm just look at them. And I go nothing. I'm seeing makes me go. I must have this. They're beautiful. Right. Nothing screaming that. And then what happened was you? And I went to fourteen carrots, by the way, a love for to guarantee. Oh, see. There is amazing. And he showed me this gorgeous stone had already been sold, but it was really beautiful and really special. But even still I eat shows it to me. I'm like, yeah. That's what I want. Find me something like that. And then we walk out and now in our walking by this counter, and we're looking for her to look at rings. And they had this case of black diamonds. And there is this cocktail ring in this case. And I put it on I want. I can I try on that. And it wasn't like I tried on ten of them. I want that yet. And they pulled it out. And I put it on my finger, and I go, oh, I love that. And I said a picture to Terry Nichols. That's hideous. And I go, okay. And so I put it I I'm like really a video of it, whatever. And I put it back in. And I'm like see I love that. That's so special like, I I don't know many people that could carry that off of be that screams me, and my I kept going. I went back and looked at a picture. So in the second box. That's what was in the box. Right. Here's the other thing. Another really fabulous jeweler, namely, your we've known for years in his head gotten beautiful things over here or love weirdly, do you know, I met him through paul-cohen. Yeah. Yeah. You told me that and also David August, right anyway. So you're came over and he puts out all these beautiful stones. And I'm looking at it. And I kept saying, you know, the thing is is that I'm just looking for something. I don't know different. It's the reason why I always wear a band instead of like my engagement ring just beautiful, but I don't wear it. Because I like interesting I like. That big van cleave ban the go, right, right? Just like wearing the changing them. Yeah. And I keep thinking about I kept thinking about it. And then two girls in town, not friends of mine, but two girls that live nearby posted photos of these rings that they received, and they are I mean like doorknobs, really. And I was so turned off in your like, I looked at it. And I was like it's not what I want. And I thought it's just not me number one. It's not me number two. It just feels like anyone can have that. I mean, if you have the money, right? Anyone could have right. It's just a hunk of stone. I like, I don't know. You know, what I like doing? I like when we're somewhere findings on things..

"And when you're in a place of self worth, that's when you don't feel that need to kind of put people down and to judge other people for where they're just like, this isn't right for my life checkout life, reboot every Wednesday on podcast one or wherever you get your favorite podcasts. Now back that Heather do Bros. world where we're gonna go. So this is how I believe the trip out because of the press and everything. So we're landing on Sunday by the way, as I said, this already happened by the time you're hearing this, but this is the plan. So let's tell you what the plan is. Let's see how it actually happened. So we're flying in on Sunday and we land around seven, we will may or may not have to get the check luggage if it's there and wasn't lost. And then we're going to check into the hotel. We're staying at the puck rot hotel, which I've told you. I love love love not only other back-row glasses in the bathroom. The bar is divine. You haven't been there. Have you know, do you have a whole wall of like different shape and size pictures, somewhere art, summer mirrors, but they kind of light up from behind some of them and they change colors and it's so beautiful and everything in there is Bacharach and these served all the drinks in Bacharach glasses, but the colored ones. So they're red, champagne, flutes, greened out. So beautiful and. Everyone in there is dress so gorgeous Lee, and it's just quite an experience. So we're going to stay there. Oh, and they also in the rooms like on the desk, they have on the corner of the desk. There's like a circle that lights up and they have almost a like a crystal. Think about what like a like a cake plate looks like think about a crystal cake plate sitting on top of this circle on the desk, but the circle lights up. So the whole cake plate is lit from underneath. Yeah, and they leave you like little chocolates. Oh my gosh, on the lit up cake plate, jeez, and then on the and then leaning on the just little details like the mirror in the room. If you want to check yourself is a beautiful, huge framed mirror that's leaning against the wall. And then they have a bulletin board with with a ribbon that's crossed like. Like a ham, discuss pattern and they have things stuck in there. Oh, cute. Like buck, stationary, postcard, and it's so I mean, the details of the hotel r so beautiful. The sheets are incredible. Just everything and the products in the bathroom were all Lemaire. Oh my gosh. That's insane. So it's so extra. But talk about experience. I mean, that's like definitely, yeah. The one time we were there, it was when it was when Harry and Meghan we're getting married and they have this where you check in. They have, I want to call it like a cell on, you know, just like living room very long, like a bunch of rooms strung together and in one of the rooms is a very long table. That's got a trough in it. I think it's got, no, no, it doesn't have it has bulls on it filled with champagne. Oh my goodness. So they did a high tea and a fashion show in honor of their wedding and all I didn't know about it and we were there to press. I think, anyway, but all the women were dressed like they were in England with fascinating hats and dresses event for it. That is. So they had a fashion show of wedding dresses and things it was just unbelievable. I, I love stuff like that..

"This is Heather do pros world. Here's Heather totally burned out, covered in beads, whatever I packed and got on the plane, and I decided nothing. I just got on the plane and I was sitting there and. To differ going to believe this, but I spend almost the entire flight listening to Christmas music all my God mar you. I know it's a timber, my My God, gosh. it's just. White heart just like. You cited the way they're decorating for for Halloween downstairs, and I was listening to Chris, I don't know. I think what happened was I was I had my air pipes in and I was looking at my phone. I didn't feel like watching anything. And so. Look through my music and I went, I saw like all I want for Christmas. Yeah, that and then I just started listening to Christmas music. So I went on title and I listen to Christmas music. Okay. Now you can never give me crap exiting tickers whose music do what it made me so happy, right? Yes, it is. It's just a really beautiful time that I like it takes you to a beautiful time of the year does, and I thought and you know, I love celebrating things, but it was, I don't know. I think I was just sitting there and I was so happy to not be driving. I just had a moment. And you know, Terry does all this medical legal expert work and and so he had a trial the day after we got back. So he was studying because there's a lot of briefs in depth does and whatever, and he loves it. But he's sitting seat next to me and he's studying just sitting there listening to Christmas music. Thinking about like what I want to do for my birthday, it's still don't know. But I was like, just sort of thinking about whatever it was crazy. But I had such a lovely flight, so glad. And I have to tell you I came back rested, really, I really did, and it's not because I slept. We did a seventeen hours live in minutes. Oh, you knew I ran into to kill reds. Well, really love her. So I was on in the car on the way from the airport, and I was looking at Twitter and a follow on Twitter. She said something about something Minnesota and I was looking at my, she's here and then I was looking and. Because I had seen this article about her talking about vibrators. Oh, randomly, like the day before. And then I saw she was in Minnesota, and I'm like, she's gotta be doing something Yvonne. Yeah, anyway, so I ran into her. So she cheese like a brand embassador for this vibrator company Oshii is that is so interesting. So I've only met her. I think I've only met her once or twice before that, but you remember Andy on watch what happens. Live ones asked me who I'd swim in the lady pond with like, what other housewives and you sent her. I said, Carol, you did. I did. I forgot about until after I saw her again. I'm sure she doesn't remember. But anyway, she looked so beautiful. Should her hair's gore? She just looks gorgeous and love it. We wherever you guys at Ethan at ran into her there. I'm like, I knew you were going to be here. That's so weird in love. Yeah, we had a great conversation. Yeah. And you know, talking about housewives a little bit and talked about Yvonne and whatever and just hung out she. So she is. She's like everything. I'm not. She's a very, 'cause I told Terry afterwards yet where he was wide, you picker first of all, she's beautiful, but it's not like like what we were just talking about with the boobs and the hair and the island. She's like that that cool sexy, she doesn't even try kind of hipster. Yeah, she's cool. She's edgy. She's edgy and cool. And she's so smush is yet to tell them like what she's doing, what she's working on it. I don't know. It was just cool to render. So she was in a good place and she was wearing this fabulous dress. And I was like, where I'm like, I love yours. You wearing socks with her heels to notice, oh, doctor about that money. It was just so random to see her Eden prairie. I was like, and although I noticed in her dressing room, there were flowers and snacks..

"This is Heather do pros world. Here's Heather Ben. Here's something that I want to speak on going back to the working out because it it's all really important the eating and the working out. And I think that we often get frustrated because then you know, I'll hear you and I'll say, she makes total sense. I'm gonna do what she says. Just gonna get up in the morning. I do them what happens. I'll do that for a week. I'll be like, I still don't look like her. So it's not. It's not a week though xactly, but I start getting down on myself yet. I don't see the results and I still see even if my body changes, it doesn't change to the point of that vision that I have in my head, and I think we all have to get past that and we all have to aim for the best version of ourselves. So if you do that, you know in one month you're gonna look and feel better than you did a month ago. You're not gonna look like Heather Dubrow, but you're going to look a lot better. And I look this five years ago just so you know, I didn't. I'm not saying it looked bad, but it wasn't fit like this. It takes time and like I would get to a point like after a couple of years of working out eating like this, I'd be like, oh, why? How come still in a bathing suit. I look like this and how come I can't bend over because my skin is so lose it, how you know what I mean? And Turbie like how perfect gift to be like, when is it going to be good enough? And then I started going, okay. Maybe he's right, but still you have to have your own. Vision of yourself? Yeah, lifted. We've to give ourselves a break and say, all right, well, maybe I don't have breasts anywhere, but you know what my arms look good and you know, but maybe when I bend over, I've loose skin, but at least what I stand up straight, it looks really good. You have to give yourself permission to like allow it to happen to not be perfect. Nobody is perfect and like everything else we have to stop living in the past. We had to stop looking at ourselves when we were twenty five or when we were thirty and saying, you know, I just don't look like I need to get back to that. We're never going to get back to that. Our skin is not going to reverse. No, can't really anti age. You can age better, you know, but you, I think you can. I honestly do. I think that if you eat right and you exercise and you really toe the line and again, I'm not saying never enjoy. Never have. I'm saying in general, eat well and exercise. Take supplements and live a pretty clean life for the most part. I think you actually can turn back the hands of time. You can slow them down, but you're not going to go back to looking the way you did when you were third or sure hype. And now some of us look better than we did back then. Yeah, but we are older and I think that look, we're all going to get older, cut willing. We're all going to get older, but the thing is to look forward to that and and look forward to whatever that version of yourself is coming up, whether it's your thirties, your forties, or fifties, or sixties. There's a better version of yourself coming up. And if you focus on the fine lines and you focus on the cellulite or in the little flab total, you're gonna be miserable. And it's really important for all of us to remind ourselves to embrace that version of ourselves that is coming up. That is going to be different. And yes, she's gonna be older. She's not going to look the same, but you do your, she's going to exactly, but also, but you gotta think about it this way too. It's not. I mean, yes, we care about how we look. Of course, we do. Our thing is, women is like how we look and Rex just the way it is men. Visual that you know we like to look good..
