"Juju is a big physical receiver. Johnson is not small, but he certainly can't match up size wise right to Smith Schuster. Smith. Schuster is a good receiver, Um You know, I think the past game is going to be different for the Steelers. I think you're going to see more play action. I think, uh, I guess what I'm waiting to see is Ben played almost exclusively out of the shotgun a year ago. I'm very curious to see now that they have Najee Harris. If Ben is more under center and the run games, a little more conventional and traditional, and then they work. The play Action pass came off that Ben has been notorious for not being a big fan of turning his back to the defense. And, you know, obviously, if you do conventional play action with the quarterback under center, your quarterback has to turn his back to the defense. Right. And yeah, And if if it does, indeed go that direction, um I mean, look at last night, the Cowboys lose that game to the to the I don't know if you've seen any of the Tampa Babe. Um Tampa Bay Dallas Game. Most of the tape, right? Um, uh, you know, a guy like Ezekiel Elliott, who's a franchise kind of running back. They got big money invested in him. He gets the ball 11 times. Is the league. I mean, Is art or the Steelers. Really going to buck the trend that is everywhere else in the National Football League, set perhaps Baltimore and start handing the football off 25 times a game. Well, I think there's other teams that do do that, Steve, But there's no question people would argue. It's a passing league. I don't know if it's sustainable to have Dak Prescott dropped back 60 plus times every week and because it's week one, and they played a buck's defense. That is really, really good against the run. We don't know if that's the M O for the Cowboys going forward. Or if that was a function of the opponent last evening, so that that's hard to answer. Um I I just took with the revamped online with been a year older. Ben does not move the way he used to. I I just don't know if it's viable to have been dropped back by choice. 45 50 times a game which they did in a number of games a year ago. Then why draft Najee Harris? Right? Yeah. I think they will have a lot more balance to their offense. And I do think Ben is going to be under center a little bit more, maybe than even he would prefer based on what we're hearing out of Pittsburgh with new OC. Matt Canada. What about Friar? Move, though, Greg? I mean, this is a guy that You know what people are trying to get a read on through the course of the preseason. Obviously, Eric Ebron is still there. But Friar Muth is, you know a pass catching tight end. I mean, so He's not probably the same all around player that Heath Miller was for them for years. He's more of a one dimensional tight end. How quickly do they incorporate him into the offense, knowing all of the receiving weapons they have at the receiver position? Yeah, well, it's funny. You mentioned Heath Miller because when I watched trying with 2019 tape, where it was a full season in 2020 only played four games, but I watched all those games as well. And I actually made the Heath Miller comparison because he's improved as a blocker. Uh, he was better in 2020 is a blocker, and he was in 2019. And he's very, very good on third down. He's a red zone weapon. You know, I think he'll be a factor for them. I think the question really becomes, will they play? Or how much will they play at at 12 personnel with one back in two tight ends when they have three really quality wide receivers, and I'm not sure we know the answer to that. But I don't think you draft Freimuth in the second round. Chris. I mean again. Now we're just spitballing here. You know, they draft Harris in the first round draft frame with the second round. I don't think you do that not to have those guys be a meaningful part of what you're going to do, right? Yeah. If you talk about the matchups if Emmanuel Sanders is in or out of the lineup, how that affects the defensive scheme that which if Sanders is out, it means we can you know Logically, that guys like Colby's, You're going to have more opportunities. What about Cole Beasley's matchup with Cameron Sutton down in the slot? Um, how do you think and We go around around about what we expect from Josh Allen? What This offense is going to look like I think it for me. We've had this conversation Brown, and I think it's gonna be more the same than it was last year. I think Josh Allen is that guy. To drop back and throw. I Oh, without question, I don't think look We talked about this last year as well. Do they want to run the ball? Yes, but I think what they want to run the ball successfully. They don't want to run the ball in big volume. You know when they do hand it off. They want the run game to be efficient and effective, But this is not going to be a running football team. So I think you're going to see much of the same. Obviously, coaches every offseason tweet things and and they'll tweak certain things they like they'll tweak. Get rid of some things maybe they don't like, but I think the overall philosophy of what this offense is with Josh and the receivers is not going to change. I think going in Greg, we knew with all the changes that that steel or offensive line was undergoing this offseason that it probably Was not going to be a well oiled machine in week one or look like one Anyway. Now, you know, in the last week Zach Banner, who was projected to be the starting right tackle goes on IR. They take a kora for and move him back to right tackle where he played last year, and they're starting the rookie more at left tackle. In a road environment as raucous is Buffalo facing a veteran pass rusher like a Mario Addison with AJ EPA, Nesa ready to come in the second wave behind him. Um, I'm just wondering based on what you saw Morris College tape. Is this guy up to the task? Or are we anticipating he's going to get a lot of help via slide protection or from a tight end? What? What do you anticipate there on the edge? I did watch Dan more. Well, you're probably not surprised by that. And I'm not probably not surprised by that either. I did watch Dan more, and he played in the sec. And to be honest with you and I don't I'm going to qualify this by saying I don't fancy myself as an offensive line guru by any meat, but I thought he was a good prospect again. I can't speak to all the nuances technique. But when you play in the sec and you're facing pretty good pass rushers, you know you're facing a lot of five star recruits in the SEC. I thought he did a very good job at left tackle. Uh, you know, at the end of the day that his goal was to stop guys from getting to the quarterback, and he did that. And you know you can debate where a guy should be drafted..

"What Ben Officer said this morning as well. What did the Steelers think? Or what might they do? Because they've been down this like you said they've been down this road with Levian Bell. Um, and if the player won't budge They're out. How much did that Now? I get it. It's a it's trying to compare apples and oranges. A running back versus an edge rusher in the NFL is a little bit different. But how much did that cripple? The Steelers when they were trying to put a season together with Levian Bell, in essence, holding out and how will it cripple them? If a guy like T J? What? Holds in I think it's so first A. It's an interesting exercise, but I think it's sort of moved because T. J Watt is indeed going to play. He's not going to not play but You want someone who is a leader of your club. Do you see taking you into the next generation? I mean, this is a guy that you expect to be a cornerstone of your club for a good period of time. You don't want him to be frustrated and angry and happy and feel disrespected and undervalued and underappreciated. So I think that that's something in terms of what he means on the field. He's the guy that is. He's a playmaker. He's the one. He's the biggest playmaker on that defense. Mike Tomlin love to talk about Splash plays. In fact, when he talked about The previous two meetings with the bills, it said. The bills have had more slash phase before interceptions against Duck Hodges two years ago. And then, of course, that huge pick six before the half last year. You say what makes more splash plays than anybody else on this defense and really than just about anybody in the NFL. You look at where he ranks and quarterback hits and quarterback pressures and facts and Forced fumbles. You say? What is that guy? So a DD looking at the other parts of their defense, and we realize you know, we're talking about a top five defense here. There has been a little bit of turnover. At in the secondary. We don't make up. Fitzpatrick and Joe Hayden are still back there. But there's been some turnover at linebacker, too, although Devin Busch is back in the fold, So what do we make of The back seven assuming T. J Watt is in place as anticipated. I think that Killers lose something and always having my kilt in as there Lot corner who is touch a physical, aggressive Blitzer. He, of course, is now in Cincinnati. But the Steelers have a lot of versatile guys down there. So Kim Sutton, who can play outside may also play inside. He doesn't necessarily have the same physicality. But he's a very heady player who can indeed play inside. I think you'll see a lot more of makeup, Fitzpatrick moving around and not just playing center field. And I think, Minka someone who can play well in the box. I think that You'll definitely see a little bit more of trying to create confusion. Although you know Josh Allen now has what three years in this offense. I don't necessarily expect him to be an easily confused guy. I just think that That sort of part of the play here. As the linebackers shows have been very, very happy with Joe Schobert, Joe Schobert. They made a trade for him just a few weeks ago. He's very quickly come in. He understood the defense and you said I was actually wearing the green dot the headset helmet. Making the defensive play calls and when we asked my column about him this week, we just talked about how heady he's been and how wealthy it is. Yeah, That's a big step. Getting a guy that you can believe in that quickly can. What do you think about his ability to, you know, obviously step in that quick and be the option. Um Does that give you pause that a guy who is available like that could come in and make a difference like that. I know. You know again. I think that this is one of the when I used to cover college football. Greg Siano was the head coach of records. And he used to always talk about 1. 11 1 11. As long as everybody does their 1 11. She'll be okay. And I think that that's what the Steelers defense really is. You know Devin Busch is the flashy sideline to sideline linebacker who's going to come up with these? Dynamic plays and it takes one thing off his plate. If Joe Schobert is helping to set the defense is making some defensive calls, And I don't think that you need Joe Schobert to do everything you want Devin Busch to do or you don't need Joe Schobert to do what you're counting on Tyson Ah, Lalo, the nose tackle to do and helping the clog up the run a little bit. I think that There are some new pieces to the defense. I think not having stuff onto it, and instead having to play with Chris Wormley or idea bugs is a little bit of a step down. I think that TJ want, you know, maybe he comes in and play 60 cents because he is indeed an exceptional player. Maybe They kind of have to rotate him a little bit. But that's okay because Ingram's actually been better than expected. Flipping it over to the offense. DD um I was stunned. You could have knocked me over with a feather during the draft. When the Steelers are on the clock there, I believe it was picked 24 knowing their offensive line. Departures. I'm like, alright, Here we go, tailor made offensive tackle. Here We go Market down in ink with the Steelers. They go running back and then double down in round two with a tight end, And I know that the early returns on Friar move have been positive, as have they been for Najee Harris. And I realized they drafted a couple of kids later in the draft. We're going to start at least as it looks right now on the offensive line, but Four out of five new people on an offensive front is a hard thing to put together, even in a regular off season. What is your assessment as to how it has come together? Through preseason evidence. I don't know. I don't wing and a prayer. Er, Yeah. I mean, it's really You know what? Najee Harris has been everything that he was advertised to be. And then he is not only a fine fine, fine player who can, indeed er Who promises to Be able to make something when there is nothing Pat Friar move, as you said, also has been Tremendous. Pass catcher. He's looked really tough. He's not the blocker that Heath Miller was not quite as big, but I think he can be a very, very promising player. A bit more complete than any other tight end currently on the roster, So get two very nice skill position players. I am still of the mind that everything starts up front..

"No question, but that's not a new discussion. I remember when he came out of Wyoming, and I remember the comparisons then, and I saw that in him then so not surprised at the comparison is not surprised by his skill set and the things that he's capable of doing and the things in the style of game that he plays. Mike Tomlin. Josh Allen as the Steelers and Bills meet in the opener on Sunday. How do you feel about Mike Tomlin? Bulldog? I have old ton of respect for Mike Tomlin. I like Mike Tomlin. I suppose if he were my coach, like, you know, the coaching the team coaching the team in the city where I worked, Um yeah, it probably would be, um, you know, Be a little more nit picky about him, but I mean, he's been there a long time. They never are bad. Um, you know, there's probably stuff the fourth down, so you know all the stuff that you don't really study or or sit with when it's not your team. Um, but I I've always I've always admired. I've always admired him. I think he's I think he's I like how he sounds usually, and his team's performance sort of speaks for itself. I think he's been excellent. Yeah, that might be the exact right answer on Tomlin. I was I was hanging on every word there. Uh, like if I were on in Pittsburgh, I would be maybe needed nit picky. And I think You know that has its place. Sure, like the details are big, and I think that's exactly right. I think Tomlin is The results do speak for themselves and no losing seasons ever right, like, Not even so. He's handed Roethlisberger right like that. That's the the asterisk on that Sean McDermott. Might be a better coach than Mike Tomlin. But He doesn't have a Hall of Fame bound quarterback waiting for him when he gets there. And and Tomlin does, and he's two years or so into his job when or Roethlisberger is like three years in the league. Whatever it is when Tomlin takes over, so that's that's pretty nice luxury. The details part. I think Tomlin is probably Top five or maybe even better. Forgetting his team ready. That's not just emotion, but that's like preparation. A lot of that is maybe defensively but In terms of like game decisions. He's the worst. I mean, he's just the worst he he should have. He should have someone else do it right. Like he he really should. He should have someone else do that part of his job, But that will never happen. And it almost never happens anywhere. It will never happen here because look at his record. Well, one that's making decisions is different than having people advise you. I think we learned last year. I don't I don't know that I have the text saved anywhere. But McDermott named two guys that he leans on during games to like, help him. I don't know if it's exactly like red light yellow light green light, like Philadelphia talked about having when Doug Peterson and Frank Reich were there and they won the Super Bowl. But McDermott has conceded that he's got I assume these are analytics. And these are analysts data analysts that are helping him make decisions based on you know the data. Um and, um, so I guess I want to be surprised if almost any team doesn't at least have those people on staff at this point, How much of a conduit they are to the head coach during the games. Is, you know, something will never know. It's up to the coach to let you know, like, and I always found it. Um, I was. I was pleased that Philadelphia was his open with that information as they are. Or were and same with McDermott, although I don't know that he's ever said I'm doing whatever they tell me every time, you know, uh, well, that's right. And that's not that's. The Eagles was also that way, because that's what yellow was right. Right. Yellow was, it's up to you, coach right? And that's I. You know, I wonder how hard to sell. That's probably in that article has probably been reportedly how hard to sell. This was to Peterson. But it worked. He couldn't last. I mean, it's quarterbacks which quarterback was so bad? Yeah, like that eventually. It blew up kind of on all of them, but Yeah. I mean, Tomlin is he's a He's a star right? Like he's been there for so long. He's No, He's got a rank pretty high when it comes to winds. Now I don't have that open. I do have what I think is a fun Steelers list open and that is receiving Uh, catches actually career catches for the Steelers. This is a fun list. I'll bet you know who's first. Antonio Brown. Second, okay? Joe. Do you know who leads the Steelers all time and catches Heath Miller? Third Come on. Wow. That was a joke. Whoa! Third. That's amazing, isn't it? Yes. I mean, that is amazing. He is amazing. I mean, he was there for ever right? But still, he was never great, right? Yeah. I mean, did he ever catch 80 passes in a year? Probably. I guess if he's there six second leading receiver, right? Or what would you say It was 3rd 3rd 3rd? Yeah, um Boy who would be on top there because all the other guys like the famous guys, the Hall of Fame guys, right are in an era where you just weren't putting up huge. You know, 100 catch season was did not something that really existed for Lynn Swan or John Stallworth. So they wouldn't be at the top of this list. Is it? Hines Ward? Yes. Okay. Yeah, that was that was there. That's good. Hines Ward, Antonio Brown, Uh, Heath Miller. Wait a minute. No, I changed. That is right. Change the column. I was sorting by Hines Ward, Antonio Brown, Heath Miller, John Stallworth, Lewis Lips. Slaps nice Louis Lips makes the top for high if it catches for the Steelers. Then Lynn Swan than L B nickel. Okay, Who I don't know about that was in the fifties, like the Steelers were this awful franchise until Knoll and that those early seventies drafts. Then they became that dynasty that they were. They've almost really never quit. I mean, What is that 50 years They have almost always been good. Uh, Tom Levian Bell is eighth than Juju is ninth and then Franco Harris. That is the top 10 Tomlin, by the way, 22nd all time and winds with 1 45 to above Marv. He has more wins than marvelously. What's the number seventh? 22nd 22nd. Okay. 22nd all time and wins. Yeah, he's four behind cower. So that's all with Pittsburgh. So he's almost the writing a Steeler coach of all time. Whoa! Hold on a truck. No, no. Yeah, about that. Yeah. What's he won 93. That's the Tomlin is maybe two years away from that two good years away from that and say, three years away from that. None of those guys ever coached with any other team, right? I just sort of casually yesterday. It's funny that we we, like, ended up talking about Mike Tomlin here yesterday on the show. At some point, I and we were talking about them and him..

"The guys that he needs and then he has those sort of like a safety blanket guys and so if he can find a open for our mussa guy who is going to catch that ball and so having that confidence in him to be able to jump off a he's able to find him he knows when he throws it. It's going to be there I think that just speaks volumes. And i think it won't be long if it's not on gamed the you know the first week of the in the first game it's going to be just a couple of weeks down the road and we'll be talking about him as tight end one for sure. Am ben sorry. Dropped heath miller comparison. And you know it's that connection in no in that when i throw the ball. He's gonna find a way to make this happen. That's great stuff. And i've heard mixed reviews on after drafts. On what type of blocker he is but he's looked depressed and look again questions about the sewers offensive line but having tighten that blocks better. I'm eric brown. Hey can catch passes no time but he was never known for its blocking and heath miller you know. Everyone loves him as a receiver. But he wasn't extension of the offense align in he had a good offense aligned with with the steelers they alive. Good guys there. But that's the. She became at six outfits alignment on our running plates in. You know i think dow alone even if the question marks that Fans are seeing on the offense line that can make the offensive line so much better. So i'm encouraged. There's some good things that we're seeing here. Sewage fans with pat farmer. Let's get the number one the whole time clark by him number one. Pick first round. Pick for the steelers in the draft Man this podcast wash your were bemoaning. That struggled to the steelers are rang. Game had We were talking around draft time going. Hopefully we get one of these best. Running backs and sewers. Got nudge air san. I thought they played not j. A little bit too much in the preseason in my opinion but you got to see a good sample size of notching. I think not j. some the uncertainty Lines actually slow not j. down I sold some runs. Were he really had to struggle to get those couple actually yards in arizona lodging because the offensive line by a like his attitude. I he'll nice long reception against the lions. I liked that. I'm seeing some good suffering not to harass. I'ma worke year for him but i'm feeling a lot better than the running game that did the sign of last year so yeah now december one. I'm bees who we thought he was. Alexis parkinson the preseason all your thoughts. Yeah he's It's been beautiful to watch him. You mentioned he works hard to get those couple yards. But i think that's the key that he does get those couple yards. Felt like with james connor. You just kind of run into the line and then stop but he actually make something happen. He gets positive yards. I actually feel good for the first time since its peak feeling good about when we give the baltimore running back When the offense has that other dimension of not just two yard dump passes. Now i did get. My heart stopped when ben through that high pass to up for it. And i thought for sure he was gonna get sandwiched and for the year but yeah he. He looks fantastic. I'm really excited to see how this plays out for him. Yeah definitely joe. I mean we talked a little bit last week in our power. Five about The running backs for the steelers. Historically who have carried so much work load they shortened their careers. And so that's always going to be a concern for our steelers running backs because Because we're worried about wearing them out And i know that that played into a little bit of labiancas mindset when he got later into his his his tenure with the steelers and wanted to sit out but what i love the most about watching nausea in a preseason set of opportunities he came to play and wasn't squeamish going up for that pass in the in the middle of preseason and wasn't squeamish about those extra yards just here to play ball and that's what i want out of the steelers running game and i'm excited to see him be apart of everything because when we have a solid running game than i think all of steeler nation is going to be happy with everything that happens offensively with our team. Yeah i gotta call us. Sportsmen new men point to football game nadia here sky reading of seventy seven come on najjar should be. And i don't know hopefully man's maybe trying to spark a fire under not jay i. I haven't seen tweets not his mad ring but what's improve bit come on come on yard games and let's get that ring up a little bit you know what's taking their dead ben snow a couple points behind him. Come on if four. Louise from jay come on here so but they just want to underrate. Everybody who's on the pittsburgh steelers. I think and believe me. If we have more time we could talk about minka and teaches rating. Very.

"A red zone passed in that transition into the game. as he caught two huge touchdown. So that confidence going to continue to go there and if he can continue to get those comparisons to heath miller. Ben rothlisberger is giving him right now man. He's a set for good career because man everybody around her steel loves heath to this day. But when you now look at what ninety hairs brings to the table. This is a guy that everybody saw what he did alabama but when you see him practice you see him in game. The palace always falling four. He's not missing many holes and he's always gaining yard or so from that perspective. The offense alon. They are confident because they really feel like. Hey we open up the holes. He's able to do that. And one added element is the fact that he can catch. The ball added the backfield. He's a three dollars back. You can pick up a plaid past a past protections and then ultimately league out of the backfield in a manner that you saw it at forty six yard run that he caught a fab yards and was able to run an additional thirty nine for that so as he's really really good to see we're not he harasses at at this point. Where did the steelers fit in the afc. North in your opinion. Because i look at cleveland. And i think they have a superbowl caliber roster. You can make a case of the best offensive line football baltimore with lamar jackson. And they really did a lot of work. Through the draft to kind of rebuild that defense and and also give lamar a couple of weapons. This off season but pitchers really fascinating. We've talked about the fact that robbie this could be a make or break year for him. We talked about some of the new additions. But how did the steelers that stack up in that division because it didn't end well last year. But there's so much talent on that ross absolutely and i agree with that and this is something that when i look at where the steelers are at. Its two maybe three must-have baltimore's in in steelers Grocers are pretty much the same when you just look at the manor steelers lost last year. You have to put cleveland in front of him so in from when you look at that steeler maybe second or third but again this is why you play games at this point in right now cleveland as a little unsure of themselves because they never been at the start of the season where everybody's talking about their the top dog so it's gonna be interesting to see how they unfolded..

"What his intention was, but it came off as a shank. I believe the exact same thing like Chris just said I rest my case. Well, you didn't because he just said he knows what my intention was already went through the Jets schedule. I went to the Cowboys scheduled to you know what my my thoughts of the season are going to be. You know what they are? And yet, you just asked that question. Oh, no. I'll bring it up closer to being honestly. Even that intonation is just like, I don't know, intention of really wanting to find out from you right now. You know what? We'll just wait till later on seriously? T j I think a lot like tweets. You guys look too deeply into. I think you looked way too deep into that. Here's the deal. Okay, Cool. Here's the deal. I'll be the bad guy here. Sure, Josh. Yeah. I'll be there. I'll be the hill today. Okay, Two guys that I'm looking at from this weekend that I that really to me. Played Really well. And I think it bodes well for the season. One of them is to a ton of our law. Mm hmm. I saw a quarterback that was decisive. I saw a quarterback that new order. He wanted to go at the ball, and he flung it around. 16 to 23 183 yards in the score. That's a lot I'm wondering if we're going to see any more from him in week three of the preseason. We're just going to now sit back and watch him show up. In New England to all Here we go. Can't wait to watch that week. One game if he's taking a big leap forward if he's taken that leap. He's comfortable if he now knows the offensive lot better. He now has the cadence during in the huddle. He now has the whole world grasp of what his team Wants him to do and he's got confidence coming into the season. Oh, baby, because we all know he's done. He's done so many people wrote him off because he wasn't Justin Herbert. People wrote him off because he got the job when maybe he didn't deserve it. You know? Then he lost the job that he got when he didn't deserve it. Fits how to come in and put things back together after Humpty to have broke it a couple times in December. Uh, you know, so That's the way that that's the whole narrative about tour. Oh, Justin Herbert Way way better than him and dolphins made a mistake. I liked what I saw him. And then here's the other one. I named them my struggle. One of my shrug Emoji teams of the 2021 season don't have no idea they could have 12 wins. They could have 12 losses. No idea. I'm no longer saying there are struck Emoji team, they they're not gonna have 12 losses, That's for sure. Big Ben Roethlisberger came out and looked spry man. He was a man. He looked Hall of Fame stride like nobody's talking about me. Nobody's looking at us and the guy who has a big Reason. And hand in the Steelers success offensively this year. Also took a screen pass 46 yards. Nagy Harris didn't have a great day on the ground. But that kid He can balance this offense out. Big Ben. Two touchdown passes. You've thrown both to Pat. Friar Muth. The tight end of the 10 states out of Penn State. Yeah. Good hands. I won't say who said this to me, but I'll read the line. It's somebody who's in the NFL. And I won't. I can't even say what what they do. Pittsburgh. Here's the quote text I got during the game. Pittsburgh hitting on a white tight end from Penn State was as predictable as the sun rising in the morning. Why was that predict before? That just I mean, you know, it's an even big cat was like a great great throws to Heath Miller. And I'm like, No, it was Matt Spaeth, man like you send it to you know, Okay. Yeah. Miller. It's just like that guy. We've already go, man. Here we go now. I mean, so if the tight end is again It's just one day in one quarter of preseason action. I get it. But if if if it was against the Lions, if if, if if if they got the tight end that big Ben can relate to. And they got the running back who can balance the offense and Claypool is healthy, and they got the two other receivers in Johnson and Smith Schuster. Why not? And then defensively, TJ Watt, who is now one of the top 10 players in the NFL 100 list. And Devin Busch comes back and Joe Haden's back there and you got more guys. And they hit on some of these other guys. Don't sleep on the Steelers. I agree with you. I know you can't believe it. Everybody thinks the Steelers are toast because of what happened last year, Ben comes back. He's eaten. Primanti brothers ice cream or whatever he's doing right now on the big Ben seven BB seven system, Whatever he's doing, he looks man harmonies with no bread problem. Yeah, yeah, the gluten free permanent brother's friend. Even we eat honestly, even with bed saying, you know, I'm gonna take care of my body I going to do this. I'm gonna do that. Even with that. We're all like, Yeah, right. To make it look better for many have under gluten free. I don't think so. I have to be like the probably not I got it. The president now even him having a new re found. You know, understandably focus on personal weight and health because all you gotta do is look at what Brady's doing. Roger doing. Right? I mean, I saw a guy who looked terrific. He looked like the brought this burger of of old like running around and moving in the pocket that shake and And buying time..

"Well. And i think it bodes well for the season. One of them is to a tongue vilo I saw a quarterback that was decisive. I saw a quarterback that new order wanted go at the ball and he he flung around sixteen to twenty three one hundred eighty three yards and a score at a lot. I'm wondering if we're gonna see any more from him in week. Three of the preseason. We're just gonna now sit back and watch him. Show up in new england to well here we go. I can't wait to watch that week. One game if he's taken a big leap forward if he's taken that leap. He's comfortable if he now knows the offense a lot better. He now has the cadence down in the huddle. He now has the whole full grasp of what his team wants to do. And he's got confidence coming into the season. Oh baby 'cause we all know he's done. He's he's done he had so many people wrote him off because he wasn't just in. Herbert people wrote him off because he got the job when maybe he didn't deserve it. You know then. He lost the job that he got when he didn't deserve it. Fits how to come in and put things back together after humpty to broke it a couple of times in december. So that's the way that that's the whole narrative about two. Oh justin hermit. Were way way better than him. And dolphins made a mistake. I liked what i saw him. And then here's the other one. I name them shrug at one of my shrug. Emoji teams of the twenty twenty one season. Don't have no idea. They can have twelve wins. They have twelve losses. No idea i'm no longer saying. They're a shrug emoji team. They ain't they're not going to twelve losses. that's for sure. Big ben. roethlisberger came out and looked spry. Man the man. He looked hall of fame. Spry like nobody's talking about me. Nobody's looking at office and a guy who has a big reason and hand in the steelers. Success offensively this year also took a screen pass forty six yards. Najji harris didn't have a great day on the ground. But that kid he can balances offense out and big ben to touchdown passes. He threw him both to pat fryer mouth. The titan are the penn state out of penn state good hands. I won't say who said this to me. But i'll read the line. It's a somebody Who's in the nfl. And i won't. I can't even say what what they do. Pittsburgh. here's the quote taxed. I got during the game. Pittsburgh hitting on a white tight end from penn state was as predictable as the sun rising in the morning. Why was that predictable. At fry's timing you know. Even big cat was like a great great. Throws heath miller was matt spaeth man who sent it to you know elbow. We've already go matt here. We go now. I mean so if the tight end is again it's just one day one quarter. Preseason action i get it but if if if it was against the lions if if if they got the tight end that big ben can relate to and got the running back who can balance the offense and klay pool is healthy and they got the two other receivers in johnson and smith schuster. Why not an defensively. T. j. watt. Who's now one of the top ten players in the nfl. One hundred list and devin bush comes back. Joe hayden's back there and you got more guys and he hit on some of these other guys. Don't sleep on steelers. i agree with you. I know you can't believe it. Everybody thinks the steelers toast because of what happened last year. Ben comes back he's eaten Profanity brothers ice cream. Whatever he's doing right now on the big bend seven bb seven system and whatever. He's doing man for manny's with no britain properly. Yeah gluten free manny brothers. Even we eat honestly even with big saying. I'm gonna take care of my body going to do this do that even with that. Were like yeah right better for many heaven. Gluten free probably even him having a new refound you know understandably focus on personal weight and health because all you gotta do is look at what. Brady's doing raj doing right. I mean i saw a guy who looked terrific. He looked like rob of old. Like run around and moving in the pocket that shake and and by and time and just stand back there and finding his guys the beyond meat. Roth is back green on meet rock. Let's burger. i think people are writing the steelers off real lions preseason. There's all that's all think about preseason. Football's like guy. Look there's this institute it's the lines was just one quarter was one play or sign of things to come rain down judgement in pittsburgh. Pa coach tomlin. You gotta home. Just give me one man gotta get to his high on. My bad judgment will move. We will bend look spry. That's the headline. Eight and a half steeler win total baby. I don't know what you mean by that. "Wilson may be on his mission converting people by making them make super bowl bet sell. Okay join the movement bill you could. You could actually have a church named after you recruited enough people to get in the same boat with you actually. If enough jet fans join me in they went to super bowl. Then yeah we share like a whole path. I honestly think that you could. You could pull jet fans and say. Would you give up caffeine alcohol sex before marriage if it meant that. You got a supernatural. I we had a bunch of wives. You could get a bunch of wives. Yeah we would just be bad. Mormons opened like a bad mormon temple. I think so. Let's try stay. Greeny signed up and he was by wives. I think you have to give. I think if if you win a super bowl you have to give you to be a good woman for a year at least yes. You can't yeah. How about the rest. Nothing of february. No no this is nothing otherwise you exactly how would actually convert. Yes and you have to be the fall. All the rules for one full year tat is ridiculous. Our the clock resets. I think you can do caffeine. No billy i'll say this. If jack wilson wins the super bowl and so it's over the course of his entire career for the jets or the jets for for the job if he wins and you do not follow the more rules. You're fired you're fired until you complete a year. now you can be on. You can say on helmet jets in that first year. Just was what if you fuck up. Then you're out pro being more in free you set aside and i forgot okay. Well what's jackson. Remove all right. So that's the deal other things. Big ben looked awesome yes bins pump. Fake is back. it also made me. I don't know why sort of following this guy. But it went back to the writer ryan burrow. Remember when we read his tweets he he was bumping all his tweets just as a refresher he said benz. Camp says biggest concern is weight loss. He's been so driven since season ended. Sources say his diet stricter and brady and source goes on to say from an arm. Standpoint ben is more likely to win his first league. mvp that finish outside top ten in passing again. His ben is the source. But i listen. When like there are signs of big ben when he is doing that pump. Fake it gets the gets a camera to move. and then he throws the heath miller for touchdown. It's like okay. The steelers does big time. Officially by keith. Miller look great as he's ever been looks like he's still twenty five years old i. It's preseason for the cameraman to because i've noticing a lot of that unlike play actions. They're getting duped pretty easily. Yes and if you're a cameraman right now you have to buckle down because the robot cameras in the end zone that shooting an ak are coming for your job yes. We need to buckle that shit up by week one. I would have this been as my number one quarterback in division This been now we saw from the week. Well let's not forget by the way our friend. Joe borough is coming back. I feel like we haven't said his name. I haven't heard his name out there. That much. joe. Borough would we end up calling him last year. I think he he moved past poise. I think he ended up being that dude before he got his knee. Broken in half But i feel like we need to respect your borough more absolutely we also need to respect is now it has become like an insane story. The fact that the the baltimore ravens have won. Nineteen preseason games in a row That's just that is actually a streak that needs to be like acknowledged and also given a ton of credit. Because they're not like you could just do that by playing all your starters for the entire. All preseason games. They're obviously not doing that. They haven't lost a preseason game since two thousand fifteen. I'm convinced that somewhere. In john harbaugh's like contract. There's got to be a bonus for winning preseason games because it makes no sense. I think john harbaugh has in the back of his head all the time that he's been beaten up by his brother playing sports in the backyard so he has a chance to win it something competition. Yeah if he has a chance to compete and win do it. Each and every time gotta take advantage of of every chance you have to win even when the other coach like obviously doesn't care about winning. Yes and he game so the question becomes do we bet on it because i feel like the second. No we get in on eventually. It's going to be over. It's been mush. I've like. I've thought about betting on it last week. It's too late it's too late you can't you can't get on very early on. I always go back to whatever it was you. Tap and their streak of their bad basketball team. Look it up for me cheek. I think it was. Smu knows you tap basketball. They covered like thirteen games in a row. And i was on it from like game four and it was one of the greatest feelings to be on that or the blackhawks. I period over run a couple years ago. You have to be in on it. Within the first. I'd say half dozen games to really feel like invested in. Also be at the point where you're going to bet it blindly knowing that you've already major money Like if you get to that because like that's really what it comes down to is. If you have been betting this ravens preseason thing for a couple years you just keep smashing the bet knowing that you're still gonna come out on top. Yeah but we're too late in if we bet it will obviously go the other way. Yeah i don't know. I feel like i have to get in in the last game do it. I have to try go full. I mean do jersey's going to have the partial sportsbook right. Yeah i feel like that's gotta be my inaugural better. Yeah trace mcsorley playing I don't know now he's out for the for the preseason back injuries. That's not good. That's tough that's really bad. All right mitch trubisky. Who is the guest on this show. Great interview coming up. He diced the bears. Defense up I mean it just shows listen. People are gonna probably listen to this interview and be like. Why did you go hard on mitch. I've always been pretty consistent with mitch. And that i. I didn't think he was the guy but i also thought nagy deserved a shitload of blame and then you see him with the play. Caller like brian table and obviously it's preseason but they were running tampo and he looked fucking awesome. He looked honestly like a first round quarterback. He did he look that good and i'm convinced that this year he's going to get in a couple of times isn't blow games. He's gonna look just as good as he did in this preseason game honestly he doesn't even need to get anymore just based on on what he showed against the bears today at the end of the season there's going to be a team like the eagles. Yeah that's going to go out and be like. Hey mitch might be the guy. He was a first round. Pick remember and they're going to get them and he's going to be good if he has a good play caller. Yeah it's also crazy to look. Obviously just fields changed everything. But it's crazy to think that ryan pace. There was a moment in time where he said to himself. Andy dalton present day is better than mitch bisky present day which is just not true. Absolutely not true so and now they're doing the song and dance because matt nagy keep saying don't starting week one i i get it. People are saying. Well you don't want aaron. Donald to kill justin feels guess. What every teams got grown men playing you. I mean like if it's gonna happen it's gonna happen right like you gotta get him in there. I think they're just doing it because they have to figure out a way to make. It seem like ten million dollars to andy. Dalton wasn't a mystic. that's part of it. I also think part of his matt nagy told andy dalton in the process right. You're going to get the starting job next year. So i know that just feels..

Yeah they're and had to make the transition back he said it's only a matter of time for i get that beautiful beard back but i like to travis kelsey you know. He's a super fashionable. You always rocks aggressive looks. He's your face look like in the internet was i. don't ever fuck again and it was routed. The internet to do that travel travel. You do whatever you want. Do you want bonfire camp out. You do whatever you wanna do that. Boom and reach out to your brother. We're chasing kelsey. It's time for jason kelsey to step up and shave his face and take the heat a little bit off of his brother because man people were eviscerating. That guy on the internet got an area last night travis. Kelsey was trying to all right. What happened then. The first tweet. I saw was like one of those random college athlete like post. It was like a random high school. Athlete was picture. Travis kelsey and it said high school in one thousand nine hundred ninety two or something like that and i was like traveling like grown man in high school and scroll down another one and it was a black and white photo like what is this and then all i saw was just a burial ow. Not oh no travis woke up and or maybe came out of a napa one on what was going on so i'm trying to what the fuck did while he knew it though. Susan had zoos. You shave at you know at aj. You've never had a beard so if you grew when i think people would be freaked out but my dad was a mustache guy back in the day when he showed up one day without a mustache is a new fucking human being that can happen or it happens all the time i have plenty of. I remember kids growing up their dad. Same thing they had it for twenty five years and all of a sudden something happened they cut it and you know they have like the old. Farmer's tan were that mustaches. Been twenty five. It looked completely different than they grow back in like fourteen hours. It comes back to poor travis. Cousy okay travis. Tweeted this hashtag mustache. Mondays on august. Second maybe this is why he'd shave it all off and it's all those guys with mustache on that thing or a little way to go about it. They don't have all got. That was the micro. I thought the mouse thing. I thought he potentially v for vendetta the anonymous the guy off the mustache looks good but he has to reset and they caught a bad angle. Another one too. It's kinda like saas phase on how you doing here right to. Can you imagine if he had that face and he was trying to rocks. Some of those fits going on planes. He would've just had to wear jeans with an under armour polo tucked into it. Like have been the only thing he would have been able to wear to the point. John deere flannel get brian. dicky's all wear their. He knows he's going to be. Hey it's trying to get you're not trying to camp. He'll be back on the other side with the beard. I assume as he was probably so mad about mustache. Mondays is a guys. If we do mustache money. I mean on everybody's doing it was the younger you think he looks. Just like heath miller to me. I think he's channel heath. It's going to be his best season because he was a long time. Pittsburgh steeler tight end by the way for.

"Are going to be told to sit out. I can see. Ray mcleod playing a lot. I see james washington playing a lot at least in the first half but rigo bussey man. My goodness guys been tearing it up in training camp really excited to see if he could maybe duplicate that in a preseason game next part of the question any and given keith butlers tendency to put linebackers on wide receivers do you think. There's anyone on the team that can actually do it. Besides devon bush. I think there is. I think that marcus allen could do it if he can be more of a linebacker he is a safety. Technically by trade by the way was drafted out of penn state. I think he could do it. I also think that you look at someone. Like ulysses over the third. He could do it as well if he can. Stay healthy a gigantic. If but still he is really athletic and people just don't realize how athletic he actually is if you can get usually three and devin bush to be the tandem on the inside that defense. That's probably the most athletic inside linebacker due in the national football league. When you're talking sideline to sideline matchups would be tremendous. I don't know if it could happen but if it could boy that would be great next question. Todd hall says now that they've announced the ring of honor. Twenty twenty one class where four players. Let's see if i can think of off the top of my head Jon kolb louis lips carnell lake and tons shokhin. Yea i did That was the four for the twenty twenty one class. He's is it too early to say james harrison heath miller. Joey porter should be part of the next class. If not who is the next class. So on the steelers preview. We talked about this. We had a person watching live on youtube and they gave us a five dollar donation at a super chat as we call it to ask us that question i think james harrison and heath miller should both get in the next class. They were dominant at their position. They won super bowls. Team heath one to james harrison. One so i think my gosh. He's a leading. Here's a sack record for the steelers for crying out loud. I'd love to see them get him in there. I know people hate that. He left and went to the patriots played in the super bowl. They didn't win it but still they hate that happened. So i don't care i really don't get james harrison there. Joey porters the only one of the three you mentioned that i would say maybe he should wait a little bit. But when you look at his numbers compared to greg lloyd. You think that. Maybe joey porter should have a spot in there and joey porter did when the super bowl with the steelers so i think all three will eventually get in. I would say that. Heathen james hairs zombie and before joey porter are. Let's go to brian. haynes longtime listener. He said only two questions we jeff number one regarding are ruining the seconds comment about ben. He's talking about him saying they have not closed the door so to speak on rothberg returning in two thousand twenty two. He's what would it take for him not to come back as long as he's competent this year. I think that the only way to ben. If ben is still able to play at a high level if ben still able to deliver the football down the field. He's not banged up. He doesn't have some horrible knee injury. Achilles elbow shoulder whatever if he doesn't have that the only thing that would have him say i'm not coming back is if the steelers. It's the writing on the wall that they are not close to being a contender. That's the only way that i can see that going down that way. If he says. I feel great. I see hearings so play but i'm looking around me. This just doesn't have it years also think next season i mean you're going to have g g smith schuster. He's going to be a free agent. Dante johnson will be a free agent. I believe i'm sorry. Not deonte. johnson. James washington will be a free agent eric. Iran's going to be a free agent. there could be a lot of turnover on offense in. Maybe he doesn't want to go through that. I don't know that. I think the steelers have been can play and still played i level. They would be stupid not to have him back. Second part o'brien's questions. Db believe there is an actual possibility that haskins displaces mason rudolph as the backup hashtag writer to die crew. Hashtag thursday's game day. Thank you brian. I appreciate you always being a very loyal fan of the show. So i do think there's a possibility that haskins could displace mason rudolph as the backup. And what makes me say that. Based on the fact that mason rudolph in my opinion has not proven anything in even though people wanna point two two thousand nineteen and they wanna point to the spot playing at twenty twenty and that week. Seventeen game in cleveland. I that does not as not told me that he is ready fulltime. I am not saying that. I think haskins has done enough to say. That mason is expendable. I'm saying that if haskins does have starting experience who was a first round draft pick who does have the pedigree that haskins if he plays well could displays mason as the backup did not say he's a feature did not say he's a future hall of famer did not say he's the heir to the throne. But he could displace him as the backup. Not putting that out of contention at all taught haul ass with the negatively on mason's play so far does he get significant snaps on thursday even though he is tapped is tapped as the backup or is it a haskins. Dob show now. Todd you asked this question. Probably before. Mike tomlin took to the podium. Mike tomlin said the mason rav is going to start. They don't know exactly how much he's going to play. They have not made that announcement but they said that haskins definitely gonna play probably the second quarter that would tell me that mason rudolph gonna play most of the first dobbs has the entire second half christie. Who i love. She's she's awesome. She says don't have a question but my thirteen year old wyatt. He took a picture at training camp yesterday. Any any wanted to send it to me. They're headed back. They were headed back to practice on tuesday and is a picture of big press. This guy honoree tweet this picture after the show this picture of you can go to my twitter feed and you'll see it. I mean this guy's huge. I mean you see this. Maybe it's the angle but it looks like they're your seeds are great chrissy and man. He is a monster. big press. That makes me all jacked up. That's awesome. i'd just re tweeted it there. You go so thank you awesome. It's awesome and then last question here. Believers says number one has moved to heinz field over latrobe. Made any kind of difference in your eyes. I don't know. I think you'd have to ask the players. I don't think the media is really asked any players this question. The players love it. The players don't wanna go sleep in dorms serious having football football football. Basically shove down your throat. Twenty four seven and that probably were remind them of college players. They don't they didn't like that. The like the pros they. They like being a professional but at the same time i think there is some value to always being there of team bonding team building and things like that. So i think it's kind of a. There are some pluses and minuses. It depend on the player's number. Two what is your big surprise cut. That'll be made that. No one is expecting for me. I think on offense. I'll try to give you one on both sides. What i always do on offense. I would say a surprise cut says someone that is cut. The no one's expecting i want to say..

"Together we could learn, educate ourselves and make a difference for communities in need. As we continue the breakdown of round number two, the culture on the clock with 54. At 53, the Tennessee Titans going to the FCS level offensive tackle out of North Dakota State, Dillon Ratings and in You got a story about this young man, a young man that was a first team FCS All American. And how about the bison? He's been charged with protecting trade Lance's blind side and there's a small town guy lost his dad an early age and When you grow up in a town of about 3000 people is, he told us when he joined Freddie in the Freddie Fitzsimmons on Tuesday, he said I had about 500 dads. And so if you screwed up, you were going to get it 500 different ways. And that's that small town living But we brought up Can you play guard or tackle? He said. I'll play anywhere along the front. I'm a winner. I don't lose and we asked him. What was the last time you lost? Listen to this. My first My last lock where I put cleats on and played in the game was my first game in my junior year of high school. Wow. What happened? Do you remember? Uh, no, And that one was even above where we played a school. That was two classes above us. We scored four touchdowns, couldn't convert next two point. They scored three touchdowns, converted a two point conversion and their extra points and then they take the field goal to win it 25 to 24. Anyone in the detail he goes, and I don't carry with me at all. I promise you all I do is win. You put me on that offensive line. I'm gonna kick somebody's. You know what? I am a winner? No, By the way, the bison they want eight of her 98 of the last nine. FC has titles. That is a Mike Rabel player. That's a Mike Vrabel type pick. I think it's a home run for the Tennessee Titans TV. So I was just gonna say it like this is a really good job. When you look at their first couple of picks Caleb Farley, they lost three corners. Hopefully, he's we're going in story. And Isaiah Wilson was their first round pick a year ago. Swing and a Miss Sweet Hey, Dylan, right? It should come in and start right away. You know, when you look at S E s schools They go around and senior bowl and it wasn't too big for him. That was really encouraging. And he's a long, big frame guy. We haven't had almost 66 long arms, so I think he's a guy that could compete right away at right tackle. Okay. We currently have the sailors on the clock. I do want to say to when it comes to Ryan. Tannehill, look into these numbers, okay? As they just drafted to tackle when he is a clean pocket without pressures, Cube ers and 90. That's just behind Aaron Rodgers. That's it right When he's pressured. It fell to 21. That ranked 22nd. He needs a clean pocket. Maybe a zoo much as anybody else. Bart Scott, I'm I'm I don't know. Barn. You said the Washington football team was going to take a quarterback. They took a tackle. Now you're saying it's going to be the Steelers. When are we going to see a quarterback? Go in this small Blacksburg? What is this? Me? Honestly, What does this Nino In terms of the talent gap? We saw a cluster of quarterbacks go within the 1st 10 picks yesterday. We haven't seen a single one taken in the second round. Yet despite there being a real need Let's give Ryan Pace and cow Shanahan credit. Right Pace. Hey, we gotta go up and get Justin Fields Calcium and, hey, we got called to get Trey Lance because there's five and then let's draw a massive lie again. We could talk about Davis bills, and that's easy for us to do that because we're here. Talking about the value, but if you're trying to operate a franchise, this guy played five games and he has a you know, there's some questions about his knee. Kyle Trask. Very good. Throw. The football doesn't really have great mobility, which we know that's not where the game is going. And then Kellen mind someone that's gotten better under coach Fisher. But his accuracy has been a big concern. So l to answer your question. League is agreeing with a lot of Ah lot of people were saying that there was five and draw a line. The reason we kept speculating about the sixth quarterback O in the first round was to get the extra year on the contract. The pick is in Franco Harris at the podium. And let's not forget they need quarterback. They desperately need offensive line health care they need. David Harris. Okay. Alvin Mack Sun goes, we'll see what happens is Franco legendary Steelers running back from the seventies. You know they could. You know what? Though? That was me. They could have given the man an actual terrible towel. He had to swing his little mask around. It looks sad. The pick is Oh, they're going to go with tight end. Wow. The man Friar moves Protege States, Very Mac, Massachusetts. This guy is a really interesting player coming into the year at Penn State. He was gonna be the heir apparent to the next great tight end. Well, before Kyle pits came along, he played behind my Kosecki. He is a big strong Physical athletic tight end. This is a Pittsburgh Steeler. Bruner. Yeah, Bruno Mark cruder is a good comparison. I think this is a really good pick in this part of the draft. Again. I think they should have got an offensive line here. They don't have started like that. But they don't have a left tackle. They don't have a starting center and they haven't agent quarterback so Very interesting pick. I like the player. I'm not so sure This is what I would have done if I was Pittsburgh. Ian, What can you tell us about Pat Fireman Long conversation with his former offensive coordinator, Ricky Ronnie is now the head coach at Old Dominion, he said. That is quote an old school ballplayer loves everything about the game. The preparation, the camaraderie, the teammates, the boys in the room being coached, interacting with fans. Every bit of it these days healthy. He's gonna play 10 to 12 years in the league, then become a coach. He just loves the game loves playing ball. One of my favorite players that I have ever coached at any level in football is on brand for the still is running back soon. As you said old school. I was like on brand for the Steelers, because you think about you know Heath Miller as well, who was been robbed his burger emergency..

I if if we're thinking of the same dude highs drafted tight end anyway. Call pits had an eighty three and three eighths inches wingspan.
