'It's Worse Than Slavery': Rep. Maxine Waters Attacks Horseback-Riding Border Patrol Agents With Whips

"Wonder if you're a blacklist to america first or black voter what you think of. Maxine waters saying the photographs of customs and border patrol agents using the reins of their horses bridle to stay that animals and protect them from illegal. Aliens who on american citizens is worse. Then slavery now. I'm no historian. But i've seen roots which by the way if you're not familiar was ally. The author had to admit that he made it up. You know couldn't akin tae not actually a real story but the imagery is accurate if not the individual person and the story. Slavery involved the selling of human beings by black africans to white traders. They're being carried over the seas in the insides of ships in truly inhuman conditions. Worse than any prison with disastrous survival rates to arrive on the shows of america and many other countries brazil as well brazil had more slaves per capita than america ever did. I wonder why brazilians don't have inherent racism in their culture. Like we are told we have here thanks to the purveyors of crt and then they were treated by mostly southern democrats owning their plantations as chattel a fancy word which means property like a horse like a donkey like a meal like a bale of hay. They were prop petit. They were shackled. They were beaten. They would torture. They were killed. With nary a consequence for those who kill the may were lynched linked mostly by democrats or members of the k. k. k. which was a democrat organization. But that the lynchings the beatings. The murders was not as bad as the image of a customs and border patrol agent. Doing his job on the border

US: Drought in the West Is Causing a Domino Effect

"Domino effect from the drought in the West, and it's probably going to affect all of us eventually. Let's bring in Jim Root from Los Angeles. Jim Michael. I'm talking with a group of Western governors President Joe Biden acknowledged Extreme heat prolonged drought. Supercharged wildfire conditions are affecting the country. In many ways is not just about a water shortage, which is severe enough. Almost half of California is now in what's termed as exceptional drought. That's the U. S. Drought monitor is driest level. The exceptional drought covers 47% of California, up from just a third of the state. Only a week ago, 100% of California is in some level of drought. And has been for several weeks now. The domino effect of that well. Fields are left follow. Fortunes removed. Fish relocated recreational activities curtailed poor air quality, along with widespread water shortages and extreme wildfires, But another domino that has fallen affects large animals. California rescue groups and sanctuaries are reporting an unprecedented spike in calls for help from desperate owners of large animals. The severe drought has left them with no water or grazing grasses for their cows, goats, horses and sheep. There are reports of big increases of cattle being herded onto other people's property and hard hit Northern California. Many can't afford the soaring cost of hay or the price to hire a veterinarian for that matter to euthanize and haul away animals. Most livestock auctions were shut down by the pandemics of selling. It's not an option either. All of this could and will likely result in higher dairy and meat prices across the nation. And then there are the wildfires. And it's not just about the historic acreage burned in more than a dozen states and the poor air quality over Western skies, But As the president notes smoke for many of these fires burning in the west and along the Canadian border. Is affecting air quality of states across the country last

Why Do Elephants Like Peanuts?

"I am alice. I'm eight years old. I live in houston texas and my question is why do elephants like peanuts. Thank you great question analysis. When we're learning about animals. We tend to get our information from a lot of different places what we read what we if we can observe an animal and sometimes what we watch on. Tv and the idea that elephants like peanuts probably comes from the cartoons and movies. We've watched over. The years elephants are herbivores. That means they eat grasses and bark vegetation in zoos. They'll eat fruits and vegetables hay and sometimes pellets of food. That kind of look like pet food. The connection between elephants and peanuts is that in early. Zoos and circuses. Lots of peanuts for sold for human visitors to eat sometimes. These zoos and circuses would let humans feed the animals. And just like your dog might sometimes eat people food if you give him or her. Some the elephants would eat. The peanuts got offered these days. Zoos don't let you feed the animals and that's a good thing. Biologists and veterinarians say peanuts army. Great food for elephants so while it's funny to see elephants. Eat peanuts cartoons. They don't do it in the wild and it's not really a food. they like better than anything else.

"You talk a lot in the piece about some of the reasons that people are delaying motherhood or parenthood in general And there are a lot of really practical reasons for that. I kind of felt like in the piece. You almost made the case for delaying. Like you like mustard. The evidence for delaying. And you didn't exactly bring the same amount of evidence to the case for having your kids young. You just kind of said you kind of wrote it about that very personally like you did it and it worked out for you and you just expanded on that a little bit but I was wondering if you felt like there were arguments against having kids young or four having kids young that you had thought about and and discarded like one thing that i've really noticed in this pieces that you didn't mention fertility at all which felt much interest from my perspective but i'm curious if you did that Intentionally so i was kind of curious. What the things that you had thought about an kind of discarded might have been. Yeah well. there aren't arguments in favor of justino having kids as young as you can. Because i wasn't trying to persuade anyone it was more that if you were thinking about it or if you were on the fence or if you're scared but it was on your mind. This was sort of a helpful. Like hey can it can be okay like it's it doesn't have to be the end of the world. My thinking on fertility. Is you know every woman already knows. No woman needs to be reminded that You know fertility is time compressed thing and the technologies that are supposed to expand fertility into later years are expensive and spot highly reliable. they're not one hundred percent there invasive. We all already know that nobody needs me telling them that and so i was not trying to write a piece. That was like you know you girls you you better get it together and make hay. "He was traumatized. And he was converted through trauma. That's exactly what happened to him. So if if we look at this, and we see a scenario of people being traumatized and thin Through that trauma that that amazing transformation takes place. Now you see, and look at all the woke people that have come about Wait a minute. Amazing in a negative way or in a parts. Amazingly horrible, right? I was gonna say amazingly horrible. Well, it is a basis because its moral terror he described it perfectly. Moral terror and We see America under assault. Now, JP Sears is making fun of it, but he's actually he's telling a story that you may not be able to tell without a sense of humor about it, because it is so tonight. Right now it is dark. He nails it, though I mean, other words, think about the hours of thinking about what is going on in our country that many of us have, But so many of us don't want to think about it. We distract ourselves. The sad thing is This may backfire on the left. It may backfire on the Khamis because what we have is time on our hands and if used properly, In prayer and meditation. Maybe you'll get some answers the way that even this comedian, he's absolutely correct in his assessment. It's all engineered to give the elites control over us. Through fear throughout moral terror as that that's right, said that's right and to control not just people but everything. They want us to be their pets. Good. 00, man. That's a heavy statement right there. I want to play a clip now of Chris Hays on MSNBC. Now again and you We've heard all of this degradation of President Trump. We've heard the put downs and the he's out of his mind. He's crazy. They have to dehumanize somebody before they can get you to the point where you accept the idea. This person isn't actually as human as the rest of us. And this is what's continuing Chris Hayes on MSNBC listen to what he says. Delusional, and I love the fact that Speaker Pelosi said OK, let's go with the $2000. Yeah, I agree with that ought to bring in someone else. The conversation also served in the U. S. Senate. Al Franken, former senator from Minnesota and Alan, Come I'm curious your reaction this I mean, part of what has made this entire negotiation, maddening from everyone that I've talked to and reporting on it is here. You've got this president who could basically make Republicans do anything who hasn't lifted a finger on these negotiations hasn't pushed them on anything has totally checked out if you wanted to. From the beginning, right, He's got these people doing like Stalinist self criticisms on camera he could have because I've had them probably delivered $2000 check, but he's been nowhere and now the last minute Was the whole thing up. Immunization, demoralization minimization, minimizing trump making him as if he's a one dimensional person. A two dimensional person on the piece of paper that you could just take that paper, crumple it up and light it on fire. This is what the left is doing The chopping off of arms to see this is the equivalent the verbal death by 1000 cuts. That's what they're doing to Trump. Yeah, well, You know, it's funny. I've done a lot of traveling. I've done millions of miles of traveling and airplanes, Millions and millions. I've done millions in cars but on an airplane The one thing you know is that you know, they say if we have a crash landing, leave your things behind. Just get off the airplane. Because you know, here in a basically an aluminum tube that's gonna burn quickly. So get off the airplane of all I've often thought. Hell, No, I'm not leaving my stuff. I got my backpack up there. I'm gonna grab my backpack. If anything happens Well, I have to tell you I'd come back to my point I made earlier in this hour about you're not really, truly happy into you have nothing because we're so connected to our things. And after a while, you start to realize those things own you. You don't own them. Well, they own you. You're just the caretaker's Yeah, but hold on. Hold on. Let me counter that with a thought. Every day of our life. We exchange our our life force and our energy to acquire those things. That's what our culture is basically built on. That's what we have a capitalist. Culture. We have an economy. We have huge creative work force that produces things and services. Okay? So I want to be careful because these things are the things that we've exchanged our life and our energy. For now, if they can convince you that those things aren't important. Then we're one step closer to communism took to pure outright socialism. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. I mean, this is dangerous territory, So I understand that you're saying don't be too attached to things. But at the same time if they can pry us away from the America that we grew up in which where where it was a meritocracy where you worked hard. You earned your way through life. Now the government is minimizing you by $600 that is just horse. Rap. And then I quit. Let me finish my thought. Because you broke in What I was going to say is Be ready America. You walk away from everything you own. Don't be the person that you know the old joke about, you know. God, what happened? You know, I was waiting for you to send the rescuer for me and God says, I sent two boats and a helicopter to get you. Everybody probably knows that story. The point is that You have to be willing like the Von Trapp family. When the Germans come for you in Nazi Germany, you have to be willing to sneak out in the dark. And get the hell away. But if you're not, if you're not willing to to leave everything you own, you can always come back right? If it's so important, you could say, Well, I wonder if my stuff is still there. But don't Care about it. Be willing to save your family be willing to walk away from all this stuff that owns you. And really the idea is that they want to use everything you own as a pry bar. To control you because you know what? So what? You have to sell a few things. I'm not going to rely on their stupid $600 stimulus. What is $600 do for me. You barely pays my power bill. I don't know what they've done. You know what they've done is they have basically told you how unimportant you are as a human being. By offering that little flimsy bribe to you. Go away. You got you $600 leave us alone. That's what I said. Tables. Perhaps Listen, we've got more better things to do than take care of your pitiful Selves. You gotta be willing and I just saw the reason why I was gone last week. On Thursday and Friday. I sold a couple of vehicles. And to make the deal. I had to drive them all the way to Las Vegas, which I did. And I, and it was like he was kind of actually fun. I got to be by myself for 35, or 40 hours. "Along with Kathleen Hays from the Bloomberg Interactive Broker studio in New York. Going to take a look at some of the price action in markets in Asia right now, with the opening in Hong Kong, allowing the hang sang to kind of pick up about 4/10 of 1%. Now in terms of more fiscal stimulus, which is one of the big question marks here in the U. S. The Republican led Senate is now the biggest obstacle to a compromise. Majority leader McConnell earlier Rejecting the latest plan from the White House worth about $1.8 trillion. McConnell said that his GOP colleagues in the Senate won't go along with this. On the other side of Congress. We have a plan from House Democrats worth about 2.2 Trillion. Will this ever be reconciled? Well, Treasury Secretary Mnuchin spoke earlier today with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Actually that conversation. There were many. The last one happened late in the day. And that was this conversation where Munition told Pelosi. The president will personally lobby to get those reluctant GOP senators behind any deal they reach. Meantime, the economy is obviously feeling the negative impact of a lack of stimulus. We had ICO data today in the states applications for first time jobless benefits unexpectedly jumped last week. To the highest level since August. Kathleen Well despite thes wranglings markets seem to be betting on additional support sooner or later. That's according to Morgan Stanley CFO Jonathan Pruzan, he said investors anticipate Democrats taking control of the White House and the Senate. After the election. I think the blue wave is out there. I think that's partially priced into the market. And I think that's a function whether regardless of the outcome of the election, I think the expectation His continued fiscal support. Not a question of if it's really a question of when and how big So the S and P 500 has advanced. We should point out Tio close about 11% higher than we were at the end of June. And speaking of the political angle on this polls now showing Democrat Joe Biden widening his lead over President Trump. Other surveys have shown Democrats gaining in some key Senate races as well and at the same time Democrats are expected to hold their majority in the House. Well, let's take a look at the corona virus recovery That's going to push China's GDP growth well beyond that of the United States. But then the Hong Kong Economic Times ran this story, saying that Cafe would cut jobs and the remaining staff would face a 30 to 40% pay cut. Of course, the two big prongs on the macro outlook is the Treasury secretary Steve Mnuchin. Negotiating with Nancy Pelosi a stimulus bill. We got you a little stool and microphone. So official you guys are the best. Yes. Brian. Good to see you again as per usual. Side Light. Find. Your podcast look jealous. Yeah. Very Key lady it's going be. Brian here's here to talk about king kids in a new group. We've talked about them before you've done some benefit shows for them. We've had several artists on the show who had been mentors with them. We have a friend Alana mentor a huge impactful. Music moment here in Austin would you like to explain a little bit about what kids in a new group does? Absolutely. So we like to help kids in foster care and the local Austin and surrounding areas basically get what's called music, mentor ship which. It looks like music lessons, but it's kind of a way for them for a mentor to come into a child's life and connect with them and kind of help them through some hard times and. And do that through music. So it's pretty cool bad assery. In Austin all the time involving children Q. The more you know. Okay. So I I. I'm sure you have a ton of really awesome moments a throughout this mentorship program process, but you have a favorite moment of yours favorite concert favorite student they're not listening so doesn't really matter the yeah. Fair point. No I'm just kidding. Mentor I cast. Cool. No so I was a mentor myself before I started working fulltime for them. So I had a student myself and it was wonderful and he was awesome and we kind of got through. He wanted to learn a neil young song. I don't know how He's got. Inside no I love Neil young but I don't know how fourteen year old in two thousand eighteen knows about Neil young and wants to learn one of his songs I was blown away. I was like this is so cool. He got grounded a lot. Dad's records. He wanted t one. And led Zeppelin and Neil young and all these all these cool bands I'm like you know who taught you these things it's amazing. Awesome. Sound like you've come to the right place child and a little bad ass kid that's. All aspects else you got a teacher really cool. Kid Music. That's pretty sick. Yeah. That was great. Do you have any like music mentoring experiences from your childhood that you kind of pull from and with your experience or like work at King? Yeah I mean I had a guitar teacher when I was a kid kind of I knew I wanted to play guitar because I saw this awesome guitar that looked like Angus Young's guitar from ACDC had a garage sale. I'm getting that and then I'm GONNA learn how to play it, and then I realized that learning how to play. It's really hard on your own as a kid so there. Took me to get some guitar lessons than that. I. Really became a mentor even though it wasn't like you know set up that way it was just like us my teacher and he also became a mentor on the way. So Saturday cool. Yeah. What would you like our podcast viewers and listeners to know the like about king and how can they support you direct in that way? What was your elevator pitch for King, guess well yeah we we're always looking for new mentors. So if you're if you're looking to help out kids in the area. In foster care.

"Aware and Hays county we find more cases of cove in nineteen that in Thailand it's by a pretty wide margin unfortunately and it's because of that Kyle has been moving a bit more slowly than the state hasn't re opening but mayor Travis Mitchell wants to give the city a fighting chance always try to stay one step behind the governor's essentially because we had so much exposure and as for those high numbers Mitchell did say earlier this month they could be a result of more testing sites and testing more family members the council's very hopeful that big annual events like fourth of July and find this guy will still go on this year without a hitch after Gaza more news radio cable to Jack up to ten thousand complaints of price gouging during the pandemic you've been received by the Texas attorney general's office Attorney General Ken Paxton says each complaint is investigated in several lawsuits have already been filed as long as they gathered acting under the disaster act I would say we have a responsibility for dealing with these issues twenty two colors the disaster over then we're done we'll certainly look at the ones we already have but we're we're done dealing with price gouging as going forward Paxson says there is no rule of thumb to determine if increased prices are market driven or if it's price gouging so you have the new college degree and now it's time to find a job but that is totally different now than it's ever been before says Thomas Vick with Robert have completely different time we've never seen anything like this before but there are industries that are still trending up and we have seen recent hiring pick up over the last few weeks or so for example he says they are seeing more hiring in pharmaceuticals financial services and of course health care and.

"Country Hays county that's right it's incredible other amazing beautiful for those of you listening alive of course you know about the the current corona virus things going on and for those listening via podcast maybe this is thrown out twenty years from having to it won't even know what happened can you put this in a capsule time capsule a recording of the podcast and people really lose it I'm done I want to go to a restaurant and I want to go shop for something I'm happy to do what I'm doing really that's right which is working in the hang out my family well it's a suite of but I do have six children that's right with that it's a big family a lot of things going on this the the corona virus has affected the medical community and all of us in some different ways I thought I talk about two unique ways today that it affects this one is directly related to urology and they're the ones related to how it's been affecting doctors and and help professionals right well I think we had a question I got an email from anonymous person she just forwarding this email to us because your physician obviously the title though was alarming physician burnout and suicide exacerbated by corona virus outbreak I know some of us have seen that very sad story on the news of the doctor in New York Dr Brene she had coronavirus she recovered and sadly she took her own life so what are your thoughts on that well I I think that that question and that listeners concern really hit home when I heard the story of this of this week it really upset me because although mental illness and suicide and the pressures of life exist always the specific circumstances of being socially distance or going into a job in which you're putting your life at risk when that's not really what you went into that job for writing this it was the hope to become lifesaving not necessarily putting your your life on the risk of your your your life on the line but I also think that the hospitals and the medical system and society have taken a lot of health care workers for granted really as a sense of of a source of cost for so many hospital systems and I don't mean patients I think the thing patients have always been very appreciative and gracious of service they get when you work with in a large system a big hospital system a big county public health system it's taken for granted that you're gonna be there everyday when you're gonna show up to work and for years I have said that the reason that insurers and hospital systems of power for doctors is because they know that ultimately were likely do the right thing we're gonna take care of the patient matter what we're going to fight for them to get their medicine we're going to fight for them to get their surgery and it's not because we're getting paid it's because that's kind of what we feel our duty is to our patients and society but there are lots of doctors and nurses who have been called off their hospital jobs because you know patients are down in the hospitals the Mayo Clinic is for allowing thirty thousand people but then there's the expectation that they weren't going to come right back to work and then that compounded with the terrible tragedies that these doctors are seeing kind of in the front lines in New York thank goodness the numbers are going down and things are becoming more manageable but almost the trauma of a of a wartime medical facility for people that were not trained to deal with that kind of onslaught and then necessarily because of how how cute the situation is not being able to access mental health facilities in the other support system so I'm hoping that the the health systems the large hospitals will you know remember that the doctors and the nursing staff and the janitorial staff that work there that is really what your hospital is not necessarily just the the the patients that are walking through it's it's the it's the doctors and the medical staff and all the support personnel that make that health system work and if somebody needed to take a really big financial hit it should have been the doctors nurses and the and the and the four eight on the floor first it should have and that they should have been kept on that you know as long as possible even at the detriment of the health system and a larger or the or the insurance company for member that's more of a you know just my two cents on why I think that the physician stress and the stress on the medical system I don't think it's going to go away sh soon now that Texas opening up elective surgeries are coming back in the hospital for opening up a little bit more there's incredible pressure to immediately get back to work right you know this week alone I probably operated for twelve hours a day every day and it that's going to keep up just to keep up with the backlog for months and so it's going to be you know for our staff here for our staff at the hospitals I mean I'm tired of so don't worry but so we're gonna do just fine but but for the staff and all the support personnel really thank I think everyone out there for for working so hard on keeping things going and you know it really helps people keep things going talk a whole testosterone whatever you're not a borrower distance and I just thought I would share another interesting a court of coronavirus and urology which is that there is evidence that people who have had a coronavirus infection can have a massive drop in their testosterone levels so although in Travis county and then Williamson County there's been less than you know two or three thousand confirmed cases there's likely a lot of cases out there that weren't tested for so if you are a man and you suspect that you were that it that you suffer from chronic virus and you think that you may be having persistent fatigue persistent low libido or if you think that it may have affected your fertility in some way it's certain that certainly a reason to come by and get a quick evaluation so the lab test for testosterone is just a quick blood test on a seamer analysis can identify your sperm count and the tests of the **** of men who had coronavirus showed a very rapid decline in the number of sperm they're having a voice so early on in this is in in in this crisis we got a call from a patient who wanted to have their sperm frozen because they have heard this before and so we arranged for them to get in at home sperm freezing kit so he was just worried that if he got the corona then he would become infertile and when an insightful Rayburn insightful move really must be a good husband costume I think that home semen and sperm presentation he was like two hundred Bucks and they delivered it to his house we're going to keep it they keep it in there that they gets it gets it gets sent on like on dry ice and sent back to the facilities they can put it in liquid nitrogen and it's a really interesting kind of business model I had never used the at home because you know we have the cryo facilities here in town that we send patients usually but it really gave us the option of exploring and an interesting and and new way to deal with in a novel phenomenon of this in this disease which is the potential of testis failure a whole New World hello world well it's amazing what a shrine people how to get a hold of us or something because if you have questions about anything related to urology or even current virus will answer but we can't.

"Hong Kong I'm Kathleen Hays and I Brian Curtis trading will begin in sitting at the top of the hour we do have the New Zealand market trading it's up about two and a half percent here features a mixed as mentioned earlier Hong Kong China up it looks like S. and P. E. minis and Nikkei futures down a little bit details with the Christmas coming up shortly plus you get the markets in Hong Kong and Shanghai opening in about three hours Kathleen we'll start with U. S. stocks rallying on expectations for once for White House stimulus measures to counter the economic impact from the corona virus yesterday remember equities plunged the most since two thousand eight and earlier today further selling took index futures twenty percent from records before a recovery took hold blackrock vice chairman we filled a brand says more U. S. leadership is needed now the weather we have the U. S. leadership that we did have in two thousand eight to sort this out that's a big question I think this is this is one of the concerns that that sort of sits in an overarching way over the whole system right now where is the leadership where is the U. S. leadership which was one of the defining features of the crisis in two thousand eight that's blackrock vice chairman Philippe Hildebrand U. S. airlines meantime as outlined deep cuts to their flight schedules because of the corona virus let's get some details here with Bloomberg's Charlie Pellett it comes amid an industry crisis it is shaping up to be worse than the aftermath of the nine eleven terrorist attacks delta and American Airlines have withdrawn their profit forecasts and say they will reduce domestic and international flying and United Airlines holding says it is running stress tests for a potentially quote dire scenario in which revenue would plunge by as much as seventy percent in April and may that compares with a decline of about forty percent in the two months after nine eleven United president Scott Kirby Saturday JPMorgan chase conference was held virtually quote we're planning for extreme scenario hills we're not planning for hope in New York Charlie public Bloomberg daybreak Asia at a time when the airlines have been battered by flight cutbacks because the coronavirus Cathay Airways releases a twenty nineteen financial results today the curry will likely offer an update on business conditions companies lost about one and a half billion dollars in market value over the past year the stock was initially battered by the U. S. China trade more than social unrest in Hong Kong and now course that corona virus outbreak Kathy is left mainland China capacity by about ninety percent of but the majority of its work force on unpaid leave well hundreds of coronavirus patients have been treated with Kelly adds experimental Ebola treatment it's happening under an FTA program to allow access to unapproved drugs Gilead sciences expects to know by April whether a clinical trial in China testing the anti viral drugs from does appear can effectively treat patients who've been infected with the virus that causes covert nineteen Chinese president xi Jinping visited Wuhan yesterday for the first time since the coronavirus emerge this trip was intended to project confidence in his government has managed to contain the spread of the outbreak the visit came as China reported its lowest case tally since January eighteenth yeah that visit would have been unthinkable two weeks ago Kathleen let's get to the prisoner he is scanning the markets get a glimmer of what's happening here in the Asia Pacific today Doug so it was very much a risk on as you guys are saying here in the states and as a result of that a lot of weakness in the end where the dollar is concerned the N. right now at one OO five twenty and in spite of what was a three percent drop in New York trading yen against the dollar Chicago Nikkei futures would normally take that is a big positive that that's not the case right now we we imply a move of maybe a hundred and fifty points below where we were in the cash market yesterday in Tokyo in two and terms of the U. S. treasury market the ten year was last quoted in New York at the yield of eighty basis points so that's where the action is going to begin in the Tokyo session right now in New Zealand and six fifty is better by more than two and a half percent and futures for the ASX two hundred in Sydney imply maybe a little bit of a positivity a move of maybe six tenths of one percent to the upside you guys were talking about the the airline story the other big story to talk about is what happened in oil a big recovery in crude WTI was up about ten percent in New York trading we had the of Russian energy minister indicating that Moscow remains open to further cooperation with OPEC to stabilize the market however despite his remarks Saudi Arabia is escalating the oil price war with Russia and the Saudis have pledged a record supply of twelve point three million barrels a day that would occur next month even so WTI finish the session here in New York at around the forty eight thirty four thirty six right now we're trading thirty four forty eight in the electronic session adult prisoner at the Bloomberg interactive brokers studio in New York Kathleen now it's time to take another look at all the global news the head of the CDC Dr Robert Redfield says the fight against one of ours is shifting from.

"Kathleen Hays and I Brian Curtis here in Hong Kong trading is underway in not just in New Zealand here at the moment we'll get to we'll get the Australian market opening up but just at the top of the hour thirty minutes from now Kathleen all right well let's take a look at the data now the markets Asia of course following through from what started overnight continue to the U. S. and here we are day to yeah we had the crude oil tumbling in the New York session by more than twenty five percent to you are exactly right Kathleen we saw this coming yesterday when Saudi Arabia essentially said it was going to flood the market with crude oil after a disintegration of that OPEC plus alliance right now WTI holding firm at thirty one fifteen that's after two point eight percent slide in New York trading so on the equity side of the equation if you look at the energy complex the S. and P. five hundred energy group was down more than twenty percent and that led the S. and P. weaker by a seven point six percent the Dow was up seven point eight percent today and some of the big energy names leading that decline meantime the nasdaq composite the composite index dropping about seven point three percent so away from the energy story and that price war we have the situation with the coronavirus Canada reporting its first death we had the Italy struggling to lock down its financial hub that being maligned as the number of infections and deaths there sort by about twenty five percent the euro strengthening in the U. S. session word about fourteen fifty four right now in the early Asian trading the kind of flat we had a big move in the Japanese yen of stronger against the dollar by about two point eight percent we're one oh two nineteen Indiana vis a vis the U. S. dollar so we're strengthening now in early Asian trading by about two tenths of one percent and I'm looking at Chicago Nikkei futures now eighteen thousand seven seventy so we're more than nine hundred points below where we were in the cash market yesterday in Tokyo and yesterday we saw a five percent drop in the Nikkei for getting set to go to the White House briefing room president trump and his staff will give us the the very latest on the corona virus outbreak now in terms of the total number of cases globally now we are at eleven a one hundred eleven thousand to eighty four total number of deaths globally thirty eight hundred ninety two now here in the U. S. twenty two people have died and we have five hundred sixty four confirmed cases but of course you know done that one of the big stories and weather reasons presumably the president cited to address the nation this is the daily task force briefing the task force is led by vice president Mike pence is because there has been so much criticism that he's talking it up being optimistic at the time away and that the nation needs a clear plan when they need it a more realistic view when they need the the the testing kits so what we can be very interesting to see if this is what transpires today you know it's interesting David Westin Bloomberg's David Weston was talking with former treasury secretary Larry summers today in Somers was saying we may be in the first stage of economic damage well from the corona virus the first stage implying that there are many more levels here I can write on the human side of the equation there's a lot to be considered well and again personally that's what the as it is concerned but certainly a Democrats have been very very critical of the president a lot of talk of how important it is to his reelection to happy I have this be a success and knowing with the stock market that has been a crush some twenty percent knowing that there will be damage from to the economy there's that's no one's fault it's the viruses fall but this is something the president presumably has in mind as he looks at his strategy and here now the president is taking the podium to address the nation from the White House for thank you very much we just attended a important task force meeting on the virus and that everybody is talking about all over the world the matter where you go and that's what's on people's minds and we are going to take care of it have been taking care of the American public and the American academy we are going to be asking tomorrow we're seeing the Senate is going to be meeting with house Republicans Mitch McConnell everybody and discussing a possible payroll tax cut for relief substantial really very substantial relief that's a big that's a big number we're also going to be talking about hourly wage earners getting help so that they can the fetal position where that I could never missed a paycheck would be working with companies and small companies large companies a lot of companies so that they don't get penalized for something that's not their fault it's not their fault it's not our country's fault and this was something that we were thrown into and we're going to handle it and we have been handling it very well the big decision was early when we shut down our borders were the first ones ever to do that we've never done that in a country before whatever situation that would be allowed more dire also we're gonna be seeing that a small business administration and creating loans for small businesses we're also working with the industries including the airline industry the ship industry which obviously will be hit we're working with them very very strongly we want them to travel we want people to travel to certain locations and love to other locations at this moment hopefully that will straighten out sooner rather than later but we're working with the industries and in particular those two industries we are also talking to the hotel industry in some places actually will do well in some places probably will do well at all but we're working also with the hotel industry but the main thing is that we're taking care of the American public and we will be taking care of the American public and I really appreciate the professionals behind me and the professionals actually behind them in a different room we have a tremendous team and it's headed up by our great vice president Mike pence and I want to thank Mike because he's been working twenty four hours a day just about he is been working very very hard very diligently and very professionally and I want to thank him I want to thank the team and they'll have like say a few words thank you very.
