"Let's go to my conversation with hayley jones and just a quick heads up that they do briefly mention self harm and suicide in this interview. Although we don't go into any detail about it. Tell me about your relationship with food growing up so i in answering question. Honestly what feels really important to name up. Front is my identities. i like they very shape. How everyone needs to the world but especially with my relationship to food. They're just like such a common common string narrative has impacted that So i'm white. Which in my mind needs that. I benefit from living in a country founded on white supremacy and genocide. I'm never going to face oppression for the color of my skin and eye unfairly live with that privilege. I'm queer chan's and nonbinary sale the affects of homophobia and transphobia. He'll really a strong strong. String that runs through my story especially in terms of My relationship to food my body and you can movement and then i also identify with being neuro divergent and autistic and struggles with mental health and not understanding way differently. The neuro typical people or show up in the world in the same ways as notable folks was also a common guy continues to be slow those relationships and therefore body size of larger body from around ages. Seven to twenty one so most of my life. I'm twenty seven now. So the impacts of fast phobia diet culture body. Shame and disorder behaviors really really felt and in particular Encouraged in celebrated. When i was in a larger body but didn't like looking at my family set up by with my mom and my dad and my sister or an italian family food was mostly always accessible it kind of depending on income. How much money. My parents are making so i was always allowed to eat. Whatever wanted didn't house but it wasn't always all the foods i would want available. Family really didn't diets her. Say there was lots of body shaming commerce non necessarily directed at me like my mom not like her body. Your stomach or saying like. I can't wear short sleeves because of my arms so a lot of shame room body and it also food as well in the sense of being bad foods healthy foods unhealthy foods foods kinda shitty limited. So so no like adkins diets or calorie counting type things with comments. Yes or no official dieting. But the sort of good bad food moralizing language. That is just kind of par for the course and dia culture. Yeah that felt very pervasive and presence. Even though it wasn't like that traditional sense of dieting. And then i would say in a round like seven eight as moment really sticks out after a doctor's appointment. The doctor told me i was in the. I don't like this word. The quote unquote obese category. And it was like that moment that i internalize believes that my body was broken are wrong and not k. Next ten of winston disordered eating definitely started restriction and bullying began at times while due to my body size. I said that was like elementary school. And i just remember be so so depressed at that time in particular around my body like i felt like it was my fault that i was the size which in fact you know. There's with me really that really sticks out with these doctors appointments were. My body was shamed sound so painful. It sounds like it immediately gave you the sense of lake. This is my responsibility. This is my faults even if the doctors didn't intend that right. It's like the impact that it has of being told your body is too large is to make you feel like you did something wrong you or bad and that was the belief. It was like so quickly internalized. It really wasn't there ever before that. I didn't even make a especially make connection that there was anything to do with eating my body size in that connection also made that sentiment around the doctor that like i needed to somehow control myself around food so that was nothing to be a turning point for me. Yeah and that's so young. Elementary schools like really really early for that to happen. Yeah yeah it felt young. I mean i was only eight. And i four grade and then like i remember was also in the larger body from eighteen. Twenty one but things definitely changed around puberty. I gained more weight and definitely noticed that shift and in a larger body than in around eight or nine definitely bowling increased. And around that. Same time i i realized i was clear. Which cause such a panic for me. I specifically remember having this thought. Come up that. I can't handle being both in a larger body and being queer and i need to change one or both of those things as very unconscious but really repressed my queer identity and in so many ways i forgot like deniro realize that until nineteen twenty but at that same time. My engagement disorder exercise. You haters really really took off. It's really the past lonely. There was lots of self hatred that came out of that meals. Asians queer and still around my body and saw terming began at that time. And i just remember being a really really painful place. Yeah that sounds so hard with the internal and external pressure. It sounds like you're facing bullying from the outside and then self hatred and self harming from the inside. Was there any sense from your family that they were worried about you. Did you like ever get help for those issues at that time or was it really sort of like a private struggle. It was really really private. i didn't tell anyone i was card so can't shame i was so ashamed like these things were my fault like i was somehow at fault for being a larger body and at fault for being queer in things that i needed to quote unquote hicks.

"The lake paid bekker's As a lot of pressure for eighteen year. Old kid like all attention. But i mean dino such as good as you know talking positively about freshman before the season starts is always a good sign. So i think she's gonna do great things that you've done. Yeah definitely. I'm i'm real excited to watch ernest. It's it's a really big regrouping. Uganda who i feel like. Obviously historically has been gino spannis recruiters anyone Don stanley has been Maybe our recruiting a little bit in the last few years so for him to get a number. One is a pretty big. When it's not like you can't has gone anywhere but people think they've gone anywhere somewhere because they're not undefeated every single year more of so it almost feels like yukon has has come down off at top to your last year. They were probably not headed for one seat for the second straight year. This big for him to bring in a number one overall recruit. Think yet you say that. Then you're also like raising the fact that there wasn't a number one recruit last year but the year before you kristen williams was the number one recruit meghan locker number recruit kate. Lucy evanston was number. Occurred that there was plenty of another level of number on record. I think there is number one recruits number. One record that are like you're like what you would call program to injure as she went someplace else. So yeah definitely your israel point. They're usually get a lot of number one recruits on staley movie is going for the value. More you had three. What was a top ten or top fifteen freshmen. Last year. i think next year in twenty twenty one She has number two number three number four coming to south yet. So she she's out. Valuing gino gino. Lance is no one Goldstar whatever you wanna call five star recruit number one and dawn staley just fills team without tens But but but still still there definitely in bekker's is absolutely more hype than i think. Any of those names. You mentioned since breanna stewart. Es pressure on feel like she's more hudson's breanna stewart. Not because i think she's got to be better than brianna store. I think it's just like the lives of this kind of loss to the world. We live in like the social media and the attention which is obviously awesome for the women's game but just like so much different than like breanna. Stewart can do con- when i was starting college in the world's Different than it was eight years ago or whatever that was yet you is a great point. I was going to bring up as well link. It's who knows how hyped. Someone like breanna stewart would have been in. Its wake like we're talking about the eighties or nineties. Long ago. yeah -nology social media and everything changes so fast as that just the ability to build your brand on like instagram. For example as a sixteen year old is today's is just unbelievable. Compared to what it was even in the recent past the same thing like signed williamson on the men's side he became an instant social media sensation dunking on everyone. You know in high school and there's no way he would have been that hyped in two thousand ten rape exactly. Yeah it just totally changes the way things go. I mean even now tiktok. Like i don't even understand what tiktok it makes me feel all like you've got these like high school. Here's that are making millions of dollars on tiktok. And i'm like i don't understand it such a different lifestyle than when you're nights. Yeah i definitely have no idea how tax works either missions but it's It's cool that you know. i love that. The women's game like you said but also just young. Young athletes have sort of a way to capitalize on their brand. or whatever. You wanna call it. That gets great for the game but going back to freshman who you have on. That list of than pagers is kind of like the obvious person to talk about here. shoes at the top of my list. I mentioned the to from ole miss ahead Out sleepers. maybe if you wanna call him or just kind of phnom top. Ten's that i think will have a huge impact on their program from the standpoint of going to a program that isn't accustomed recently to getting those. It fifteen or twenty recruit So they'll have a huge impact right away as opposed if they went to say you connor or in but then the other one. We haven't mentioned yet that. I'm excited about his cameron brink stanford. We might talk about her a little bit more when we're going to get into the pac twelve some She's number three overall and she's gonna join hayley jones who was last year's number one overall and missed the latter half a season with an injury and should be back so stanford is gonna put number one in a number three together on the court with a bunch of players returning as well in gamut brank I you know from everything i read. I wish we had more sort of coverage of a recruiting on on the women's side. So we could you know every once in a while you see on espn. There's high school boys basketball games you can watch recruits. Zion was on tv before he went to do keno. But we don't really get that on the women's side. I wish we did more. So i could see these players play a work before they get the but but i have obviously read. Read a lot about like bekker's or rock cameron brinquin. She forthing read. She's she's an athlete. She's rim-protector but she can. She's a gazelle and she can run the floor. And i'm really excited to watch. Watch her play at stanford. Yeah i mean. Obviously we talked about the topic. Time was exciting conferences. women's basketball Agreed i'm excited about stanford this year. I think we'll talk about that more later. But she is going to be a fun addition to your point about being able to watch too high school so i totally agree with that. I wish there was more opportunity to do that. I remember was to somewhere. It was the summer before. Christopher liam's in olympia nelson doda started at uconn. They had like the fiba americas like you eighteen world cup that summer. I think it was world copper tournaments tournaments fiba anyway but the to them a lot of the like big recruits at your played in that tournament and i thought it was so fine over the summer to be able to like watch their games on youtube. a feel for what these players looked like on the court before the season started which is not necessarily opportunity usually have a freshman. Yeah yeah absolutely. Hopefully that's another thing that'll be growing you know in the women's game in particular the more Social media grows in the internet in streaming options grow It'd be really fun to be able to know about these players sort of their game just by watching the game as opposed to just what hear about them. Or maybe youtube highlights because youtube highlights make everyone look good but it'd be really cool to be able to know about some of these these players a little bit more before we see them on the college core. I share one more. Freshmen to add to that list before we move onto the next question. Haley at louisville's think another one one of the. There's been quite a bit national attention. Around but i think in the backward there you've got her and then you've got your senior point guard. Let's believe them listed as a pre season. All american couple of places. Dana evans so that should be kind of a fun. Pairing to see how that all works out. Yeah that'd be that'd be really fun to watch In the acc for sure all right we find another question here while speaking about the acc. Got one from travis lund on twitter about not really question to statement but i wanna talk about it anyway. Because i think it's one of the best stories heading into the season you've got tna tiana being back on the court at syracuse. Yeah we know. We talked about this before we started recording. But it's just one of those stories that i think the world needs. I think we all need twenty twenty with everything that that has happened in all this negativity just in the world. I think it's it's sort of a feel good story to see someone like hannah. A battled cancer in in being able to to stick with come back in in really the first game that she steps back on court. That's going to be a special moment. And i'm excited for a great for those of you. That aren't familiar with her story. She was point guard at syracuse for two seasons and then missed last season battling breast cancer but obviously doesn't incredible story that she's gonna come back to sierra pie for them in. We shouldn't say like a point for syracuse. Like she was a nationally recognized point guard rail she was very good point. Guard got a lot of national media. Attention obviously really horrible. Have dale with battle with cancer but a feel good story. I think is exactly what we need to start with..

"A study by Dr Maitland. L. Omri found that knives are strikingly common among social media. Motivated attacks. She notes the sexual connotation of penetration. But there's also visual motive. Someone poisoned could still look good in online photos. Someone stabbed won't even if the victim survived. They'd be scarred forever. On Line and off but Haley Jones would never go online again and Brian. Lewis would soon be banned as well within hours of the murder. The police had Brian in custody. He went to trial the following September. And it took the jury just three hours to hand down a life sentence. Brian remains in prison in the UK will be eligible for parole in twenty twenty three as Hayley Jones knew all too well. It takes strength to leave an abusive controlling partner. But no one has to do it alone. If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic violence. Call the National Domestic Violence Hotline One. Eight hundred seven nine nine seven two three three. "Anybody to Hayley Jones of three short three panelists role on the baseline where she's been magnificent rebounding in Crisco press applauds the efforts that's our own Jim Arthur on the air for sports network from Learfield IMG college one up one down in terms of opponents for Air Force women's basketball they beat CSU just three days after they beat them to close out the regular season they beat them in Vegas last night so they have moved on to the second round they will take on second seeded Boise coverage begins tonight on this fine radio station at six thirty and I they just continue to be a great story and I'm not surprised that they beat CSU at all but your sign and I were talking about this affair if they win tonight I think they play for the mountain west title I really do because if you look at the way that the bracket sets up if they can be Boise which is a tall task no doubt about it but if they beat Boise then they play with their Wyoming or Utah state neither of those teams is on Boise's level but this is the bigger hurdle for them to clear if they want a chance to play from out west title me think about that when is the last time an Air Force basketball team had a chance to play for a spot in the NC double a tournament it could happen for the women but they got it it seems obvious they got a win tonight will die they have to win tonight but I think if they win tonight they're playing for mountain west title on Wednesday and they just continue to be a great story you have the men's side going through all the troubles they are and I want to talk about Paul Klee Paul Klees column on that but he added the guys over the weekend we'll talk about that a little bit but there's such a great story and made it's great to see a program build up like Crisco Breck has built up this program and to see it paying off now I'm excited for the game tonight again our coverage begins at six thirty tip off at seven right here on action sports thirteen hundred story number three today is the end of the combine wrapped up over the weekend who help themselves out the most who got hurt by a V. combine results we had Tony Pauline of pro football network on and our number one he says tackle from Iowa Tristen worse was the big winner now good chance he goes in the top four five picks and separates himself from a very good group of tackles at the top of this draft I think one guy that you say could be the biggest loser from this weekend is Louis Christian all brand slower forty then he was picked to R. revealed that he had he still has that core muscle injury to abdominal injury that's going to require surgery and he's someone that Tony said could fall the way to the third round I don't know that I believe he falls that much because I think that with this surgery it's being a little bit over blown I know he's had injury concerns in the past and he's been hurt by it he was a mid first round pick when they see you season ended yes this enough to make him drop two rounds two full rounds I I just don't see it I think there will be a very smart team at the tail end of the first round or the beginning of the second that will say we can't make our first round pick we can't make our one pick the viscous and all but if we get the guy we want with our first pick any comes back around and I'm talking about the Broncos I don't think you last to the Broncos the second pick but if he did I think the Broncos would be geniuses to pick up in the second round I think if you go to the right team where they can be picked he shared with you I think love is conditional has a chance to have a decent NFL career decent to very good NFL career hate to say blessing in disguise because I'm sure Levesque I should not would rather be healthy than not I think this silver lining here is that he has a chance to go late in the first round to a team that doesn't need to pin their hopes and dreams on San Francisco Green Bay New England I am going to a team like that would be better ultimately for his career and we always talk about this with quarterbacks but it applies to every single position on the football field if you're the draft pick of the Bengals in April your chances of being great have been diminished it's not just for Joe burrow it's for anybody they take if you get picked by a San Francisco or New England or Seattle or Green Bay you're going to a good situation you're going to a good organization any team that can be patient with you and can put you in the best position to succeed that's what you hope as big of a bummer as it is for love is Christian alt there's a chance that this turns out really well for him just hope that he sees the light at the end of the tunnel because it I'm sure right now is pretty bummed out five two two nine eight seven two if you want to react to any of the three stories that are driving the show coming up next Paul Klee wrote a piece in the guise that over the weekend about Air Force men's basketball very insightful as always and I have some thoughts on it that I would like to share and we'll do that next on exports thirteen hundred from.

"Thirty nine to go in the third quarter and for buy a dozen Nevada taking its time out to get re group here and I'll be back on the floor with Booker man as a west my aimed at least see pass into the posted McDonald we called for the Falvey tried to hit Lacy underneath not a bad vowed to take if you're Nikki McDonald that'll be the first to Val on Air Force in her first foul Donald joint on the floor by killing them all Riley Snyder Emily Conroe and brown archery Thompson Nevada after the inbounds pass has at the top of the key meio with they guarded buy a Thompson now they get it in down low and a good tape and a towel it will be a three point play opportunity here hello now be a mile west strong take to the rim absorbs the contact Riley Snyder comes out of the game because she just picked up her third FAO free throw won't go for Wes rebounded by make Donald so remains forty four thirty four six away to go in the third quarter McDonald into the front court has the near side we need some help though gives it off to Kaelin able top of the key for Thompson show co op the offense here with ten seconds on the shot clock gets a screen for McDonnell now open for three eat that ones off the mark and the long rebound comes down to the wolf pack the man is into the front court over to Booker back up top to Jimenez guarded by Conroe passed to the far side for essence Booker five points for her here in the second half bio near side wing with thirteen on the shot clock it's the free throw line puts up a shot that one gets a friendly rolling goes in forty four thirty six air forces Lee cut down to eight couple changes coming up the next was a long pass in the front court Emily Conroe with the easy a shot of the night lays it up in not sure how you lose track of the game's leading scorer but that it did there and Conroe gets it easy to use forty six thirty six back up to double digit lead for Air Force now at the top of the key on my iOS with it the Vasquez on the near side over to the corner ten on the shot clock baseline drive here for Booker puts up a wild shot that one will go rebounded underneath the book back also not going in for Nevada and it's rebounded binding Nikki may Donald now to brown archery Thompson with a head of steam gets it out three ball on the way that one's off the back room no good and rebounded by Nevada we are more let was opened just couldn't get it to go now the wolf pack back the other way way up up in in for laci violet Mani Lacy with now six points forty six thirty eight for twelve the go order number three Cassidy Hoffman will be and at the next whistle my left with it at the top of the key looking for Snyder on that Emma on the baseline camp finder their hands it off to Thompson seven on the shot clock over the elbow for amble past down low for McDonald's stock will go and this one is tipped out off of Nevada money Lacy did did out airforce will keep possession and a whole slew of changes coming for both teams but only after a time out is taken three fifty one to go in quarter number three will keep it here forty six thirty eight Air Force with the lead give us a chance to I take a look at some of the scoring here in the second half essence Booker came out like gang busters hit a three then headed to what Air Force is been able to weather the storm here take a look at the leading scores Emily Conroe with that that last lay up has fifteen points to lead all scorers you have Kayla animal was seven Snyder McDonald each with six Hayley Jones zero winters each with Ford brown archery Thompson and the Cameri heath round out the scoring with two points a piece on the other side essence Booker with those five early points here has a team high seven she's tied with Alyssa Jimenez in that category Amani Lacy now with six Nevada is come out shooting fifty percent from the field here in the third quarter same can be said for Air Force Nevada five of ten air for six of twelve so both teams back out on the floor after the time now for Air Force who will be Kaelin and mold the triggering Cassidy Hoffman's out there with Cameri he Hayley Jones and Liam Marley now shop from he won't go and now be a Falco old on Imani Lacy it's a good call because even though laci had it Asian inside she threw her arm back to try to clear out he not terrible if you have the basketball but it was almost to gain separation so she could pull in the rebound so we if Alan Lacy her third that's something look for as we move towards the fourth quarter able with the shot no good how often with the good save of forced labor ended up Brenda hands of today Williams Williams pushes back the other way way up is man's rebounded by Kaelin able here she comes stops lets the defender go by and hits the easy jumper it will now with nine points airforce back up by ten Alexander on the near side wing for the wolf pack gives it off the Hamilton Hamilton drives baseline swung around the perimeter re point around the way is no good from Williams in its rebounded by Air Force your gums Marlette so just take a shot herself off the back board and no good rebounded by Alexander now here's a man is still taking open three she'll miss it nobody wants to make open shots rebounded by Hamilton Joe pass in the paint for laci lay seed Alexander free throw shot from the free throw line is good count for to not just one that's the deficit down for Nevada it's now forty eight forty two sixteen to go in quarter number three camera he's running the point gets a scream from Hoffman as on the near side guarded by Lacey bounce pass into pain looking for Mar lad and we'll have a whistle going against Air Force Cassidy have been the guilty party here changes are bound here with two oh five you go in the third Cameri he'd Kaelin immobile both come out of the game probably just be easier to reset the five on the floor will be run at archery Tom sincere winters we are more let us in Mickey McDonald's and don't forget about Hey Lee Jones all out there on the floor for Air Force and now believe they're going to have a video review here with two oh five to go in the third Air Force leading forty eight to forty next up for Air Force they will be heading to San Diego state that will be a two o'clock mountain time it tip off for Air Force and the Aztecs of so San Diego state Aztecs coming into play tonight at six and six in fact they're off tonight so that not only enter the evening six and six in conference play they'll exit the evening with the same record airforce looking to hold these six game slide there and if you were wondering I know what a seven game losing streak would not be the longest losing streak of the season all loans for Air Force they had one earlier on in the season but in a good position right now leading forty eight to forty which two oh five to go in the third quarter referee still discussing bowling and now they want to us speak with the two head coaches and we are not privy to the conversation be nice if they came over here did that but they're not so bored discussion and now Crisco bract doesn't seem thrilled with the conclusion the officials have come to where and Chris go Brecht will come back to our bench so what you're going to call can't city Huff been here for a little bit more than just you your run of the mill Phalle here's so it will be free throws for essence Booker she'll knock down the first flagrant Fallon second free throw is good as well from Booker and now Nevada will get the basketball so airforce leading by a six two oh five to go in the third quarter inbounds pass goes to my my working on zero winters gets a screen doesn't really use it still has winters honor now pass down low for FY is still laid up in Marguerite FOR with the way up and back the other way Thompson can't get this shot to go get their own rebound now Air Force leading by four times and brings it to the top of the key to reset things ninety seconds to go in the third quarter picked up by Booker Booker swipes at the ball now Tom C. dribbles it off of her foot and Booker takes it away Booker pushing the pace back the other way loses the basketball but it rode the hip of Haley Jones out of town so we'll stay with the wolf pack one nineteen to go in the third quarter Hamilton will Pat the basketball throws it in knocked away by Thomson il once again stay with the Nevada the good hustle play there by Air Force Alyssa Jimenez back into the game for Nevada instilled triggered in right in front of the Rome band she gets in in the Hamilton near side wing picked up there by Marlette able to tries across or over to no avail now looks to drive in the lane exit out a man is with the jumper that one is no good and if thou will be called in this one going again Alexander the Alexander getting called for the FAO her second team second one minute to go here in the third quarter Air Force holding on to a four point lead air forces led by as many as twelve in this game passed to the far side looking to drive his winters cut off their gets it out jumper on the way no good from Nikki may Donald gets our own rebound is it off the winter it's now up top for Thompson fourteen on the shot clock it's a screen from Johns uses it eight on the stock markets in the lane lay up up in in now we have to talk about the form here for Thompson sees twice now winning with the right hand instead of the left hand as Booker answers with the three well points or points to points Sokolac now turned off fifty forty seven Air Force can hold in try to extend their lead eight seconds now six five Thompson looking to go to work as at the elbow three seconds downloaded John shot up good if it goes it does and in the third quarter will come to an end not a great position there to in the third quarter for Air Force and they will have to I'd put in some work here in the fourth quarter if they're going to hang on to this lead it is only fifty to forty seven Air Force leads the Nevada wolf pack will be back with the fourth quarter after this on.

"Don't score the basketball the ball very well They're just not a great scoring team so to be able to hold down to pretty good scoring teams. The way that they did was super impressive. But I always just questioned and whether a team of the defensive identity is a team that's going to be able to go all the way to the end because at some point in that six game. NCA tournament. Run Your outscore somebody. Yeah yeah no no and so. That's kind of where I kind of wear I land but when it comes to pull voting I'm GonNa tell I'm gonNA confess and this may not go like I'm not a charts and things I want to go look so I'll check. RPI Some strength of schedule. I held I held. Ucla pretty you know you know at the at the ten then eleven you know. I held them kind of in that space while I waited to see because I know they have talent and I know that they're you know like and I know that their coach which twelve and they're an they've experienced and they've got all of those seams but up until they went to Georgia and then beat Indiana and then got into the PAC twelve and played anybody right right Arizona has been an interesting read because I also believe they have talent but they didn't play anybody either until they got to the PAC twelve. And now they're you know now they've got a record you know they're gonNA swim upstream a little bit and staying in that top half of the pack twelve. Yeah Yeah No. I'm with you and I had them in my top five this week. I mean I tell you. I've got lots of text messages. I mean they were number five. I believe a minded people. How is this happening out? I'm like listening. It's also like I said the testimony things before we move on from this topic but I'm so glad to get your thoughts on this because I think we need to start. Having these conversations often about pull voting but South Carolina is number five in the country with eighty four points per game. So they've got some office. Yeah I just had to give a little. I just had to give my little by little dig before we ride out But I I am curious though Michelle with Arizona State use you know the PAC twelve inside out we'll move to the big Stanford Oregon matchup in a moment but it is on a state now amongst the favorites to win this league. You know I still don't think so I still I but I like them. I like them as a top four finisher a lot more than I did last week. I really he was trying to. I was having this kind of thought process about. Who's you know in the top tier that you know I think we pretty solidly know who the top four teams right now? We are in the PAC twelve. And you know I mean it Stanford Oregon Oregon State. Ucla just in terms of talent experience resume. All of those things. Arizona State hadn't beaten a ranked team until they. They had this incredible weekend. They need to keep it going. They're going to go up to the Washington that is While those teams names on her are Lower Tier PAC twelve teams. It's a tough trip. That's you know that's a long flight from longer one of the longer flights from Arizona. You've got to. You've got aboard two to planes because you've got to go to Seattle and then you've got to get yourself to pullman. Most people landed spokane. You gotta take a bus like it's kind of. It's kind of a tough trip in and of itself. So it'll be interested to see when they go on the road and they don't have that home crown energy and things like how it goes but I think Arizona State probably probably sits pretty with Arizona's US and battling for that five six pack twelve right now I mean they're obviously an NCAA caliber team. I just don't know even with what they did this weekend. I don't know if I can see them. Busting ended up top group. Were not very interesting when we will keep our eyes on this weekend and what state does moving forward now. Let's move onto the big. ESPN matchup nine PM. Eastern Standard Time on Thursday and that is between Stanford and Oregon now. Now here's my thing. I think people are shaky on Oregon. Now I'm shaking on Oregon okay. They lost two games that season once Louisville and and obviously the aforementioned Arizona State and I really start the year I would have said they're not lose a game this year especially after the USA basketball we could do a whole nother podcast on that. I was like they are not going to lose a game this year. Is there reason to be concerned about not even Oregon being the number one contenders for national champions coming into the season and at the not at this point but even making it to another final four. UH-HUH UM I am not ready to say that yet I talked to Kelly graves the other night said night or two ago. And you know we talked about how you you know the assumption that you know you go to a final four. You have four returning starters. You have a lot of people back that somehow you know what happens is this season is kind of a pick up where you left off or continuation of the previous season. But they're a different team they have You know might take Zora moved on. They're kind of their floor. General who've been a four year starter for them they brought in many on more transfer from USC. Who's a really nice player? But it's just different and then she's a totally different player than my tae. Okay and they're you know they're relying on you know freshman you know. They've got Josh Shelly. They've got they've got freshman in big rolls and they're not shooting the three very well and that's just I I mean you know. I don't know that they've got a big disruption of of chemistry as much as they're not scoring quite as much and Sabrina Aaron bully and sought to and they're not they're not shooting the three the way that they were and I know people say some. It's a little live by the three die by the three but you know they lived on the three last year and they're not shooting. They're we're not shooting nearly as well from the Ark this year and so I think that but I think that's fixable I will if they go if Sanford it goes up and beats them in front of ten twelve thousand people in their arena on Thursday. I think it's GonNa rock him a little bit But I but I'm not quite ready to say say that yet. I still think Oregon is a team. Because they have the P.. They have the fundamental pieces. That is just a matter of putting it together but I think that you know they have they have. It had a lot of expectation last year. So I'm not GonNa say I think it's expectation or pleasure or pressure. I think there's a little something off and I think a lot of it is around that three point shooting. Yeah I mean in Saas. shos concern following at any moment and they've had that pressure on them. I think they're actually much better at handling that as time has gone. They've had that pressure since they made it to the elite eight their freshman year. Sabrina Lena Ruth whose freshman year. That's been like okay. Well now that you've done that what are you gonNA do next But it does. It has taken me back and I do think I agree with you. Totally in that. That is a different team. I think we know shots aren't falling in my tape. My my take. Everyone's job easier. She was a very under appreciated player. Beyond with you. Yeah I mean. She took pressure off everyone and so that is a huge loss. But they'll shots are falling. It's a totally different story. A to your point I just you wonder what it starts to do to the psyche of a team that to me they had to be thinking. Okay Sabrina coming back. We're trying to win a championship. Not We're just trying to win games in the regular season at this point but anyway it'll be a big test for them against the Stanford team and I want to switch the Stanford real quick because is this is not the Stanford team that we thought we would be watching right now and I think it's often unfair to them even when they were ranked number. One I don't think people understood that they didn't have my Dodson or DJ Carrington. If you would've told me that this team at this point without some of their a key players especially Carrington would have only one loss. I wouldn't believe it I mean what car is doing with her youth and and moving up mentality would have you seen from Stanford on your in wind can. We may be expect if at all some of these key players back. Yeah it as far as we injuries. He's I don't know I mean I'm not feeling like anybody's return at this point is imminent LEXI holes playing so offer them. Lacy whole life is is back in the lineup lineup. And getting a little. I think she's getting more minutes. She was out for a bit I don't know about the other two and I think they're going to have to go a decent amount longer without them for now But Stanford the thing that Tar told me what she said this is the most compacted roster. I've had in terms of talent when she says when we go to practice. And we've got our scout team or whatever like my one to twelve is the most compacted I've ever had in terms of ability talent. I went with me. Which means they're crazy deep right? It means that they're as young as they are. I mean there's lineups I mean if you think about it you know. She's got Kiana Williams who I love her game I just think she's just such a you know when she's playing well she's absolutely driving them. You Know Hayley Jones a freshman fan believe he's a freshman lexi holds a sophomore or You know playing way above her years I mean. She's got a young team on the floor and then she brings in players off the bench and she's got Hannah jump coming in and hitting threes. She's a freshman and Astra rectal. She's a freshman and you know not a play a player like naughty singles GonNa make a huge difference for them because she's got experience ever but this is a young deep big long team and they're not going to blow you away with anything that they do. This isn't one of those you know. This isn't Oregon. When they're on a roll hitting threes and they're just running away from people offensively and they're also not an Arizona state where they've got the defensive identity they just do everything? Well well like what I feel about Stanford Right now is that this is just a really solid team and they don't beat as Kelly Graves told me the other night they never ever ever beat themselves. You have to beat at them. They just don't beat themselves. And so you know we'll see I mean this is going to be a big test for Stanford to To go up to Oregon and you know and we know that things you know. Maples you know Kelly handed petar worst home loss. You know at Stanford ever last year and beat them by forty and then Stanford turns around and beat some of the PAC twelve championship game. I mean I I think this is. I don't know who's GonNa win this game. I think it's GonNa be really really interesting. Though and I just see Stanford has kind of this. You know solid block of talent and depth and a really interesting team because they just think they're not going to be they're not gonNA blow in the wind one way or the other. Yeah yeah well we're GONNA find out a lot about Stanford On Thursday night. I mean I think you're right about the environment and Eugene it's godly. I mean I wouldn't wish that on anyone. So that's that's GonNa be really tough but I still think you learn something about your team. Every time they take the floor in Tara always surprises me. I mean it just shouldn't be right but her teams are always ready. They're very level headed very focused so expecting big things. What else Michelle? What else stands out to you about this season? You're giving us all the what else is on your mind. No you know I mean we're you know we're just out West here capitals basketball. I was GONNA say four top ten teams kind of fun my goodness it's super superfund. I mean I think you know you know I think what Arizona State did this week and is is really impressive. But Charlie's had Oregon state's number for a while too. I mean their record against Ah Oregon. State beat them quite a few times. So that maybe isn't quite. You know the fact that they put those two games together. Is You know it's surprising. And it's pleasantly surprising thing and it Kinda shook things up but you know not you know in the in the when you break it down a little bit not super surprising they got orcas state. That's Kinda the way they play. I'm excited did. With what a DEA Barnes is doing in Arizona because she has talent and because she's generating so much excitement in the community my biggest takeaway from the pack twelve is but I'm looking at these crowds and there's you know people cal- thought how a very good year and they had six thousand people at hop on Sunday night to watch him play a much better game against Stanford than they did three nights before before and Chairman Smith who played at Stanford..
