"Right. Welcome back instigators. W gr 5 50, MSG Craig and Andrew Elliott Friedman coming up at 11 o'clock, and he had some thoughts on his podcast with Jeff Mercat some today Uh, if you want to catch it, but don't do it till later. Um, you know he'll he's coming up at 11. Basically, just talking about how some of the teams that were initially out on Jack are now back in on Jack. So we'll talk more about that. And a little bit, uh, some quotes that might have stood out to us some other things. We'll talk about today expansion draft, not just the team. But the performance last night, the show We'll get into that. Why are the shot at Buffalo? Want. Let's not get into it. Now. Let's save that for later. But why? I just You know what? You know what can analyze that guy's performance a little later to and take a shot at us. I'm going to defend our nation Riff. Someone needs to, um What do you think So? Anything stand out to you. I have one. With what Kevyn Adams had. Um, yeah, You know, you couldn't hear the questions that were being asked. I don't know what he was answering. Well, there's there's security. Difficult to, um Comment on what he was talking about. But, you know, like I mean, my my only thing that I wanted to know about was the thoughts on them. You know, the team losing will bargain. And, uh, You know Kevin's comments? Uh Certainly. Very complementary of, um You know, Will Borden and his character and who he is, and they're they're receiving. Um, you know, quite a solid player, um, there in Seattle's so you know, a loss. Loss for the Sabres, but something that we can't dwell on because everybody every team in the league lost somebody, and, um, well, you said, And that bothers me when people say I read I read you know you You read comments. People tweet our show. You can tweet us at the instigators. Craig's at Craig Reveille 52. I'm at the instigator 76. But, you know, people saying no big deal. You lost the fourth or sorry, not even 1/4. They said 5th 6th 7th defenseman and I couldn't disagree More with that. I mean, I understand. I understand why they protected who they protected. I mean, we we've discussed that at, you know, at length, but yeah, but I'm not going to just sit back and say we lost. We didn't lose much. We? We? We lost a piece that we don't have. We don't have much physicality. We don't have guys that like to block shots. We don't have guys that So it's you know, when you have those guys, you're their commodity. You're you're losing. You're losing a player. Um, that plays a certain style that we have, ultimately none of and our entire organization Even in the minors. There's nothing like will Borgen. He was He was a big man that could that could skate. That was very physical and knew his his role. He understood that he wasn't trying to be, um, you know? Erasmus Daw lean when he was playing. He was playing Will Borgens game and that's the play defensively responsible. Be very physical and tough in front of his net. He skated exceptionally well and move the park well, but he wasn't leading the rush. She wasn't carrying the puck all the way up the ice. He knew his responsibilities. He knew what his strengths were. And we don't have. We don't have many players like him in our entire organization. So it's a huge loss. And the funny thing is I Stayed here and I look at, you know, Seattle crack and and what were they trying to pick and people? Out there saying, you know, they kind of dropped the ball. And you know they didn't pick the players that you know. The the experts would have picked right. But I'm sitting here looking at their defense corps that they checked that could be playing in an opening night. You have Jamie Oleksiak, who's 67 to 55. Carson, Susie 65 to 11 Curtis Heights and weights. I love it 65 to 33 Hayden Flurry 63 to await Adam Larsson 63 to await Will Borgen 63205. For those guys on that on that or five of them are our physical big They all skate well, and they play within themselves. It's a very difficult group to play against. Not to mention, uh, the Mark. Jared Dano. Not to mention that, Jeremy. Uh How do you say his last lousy lousy in You don't remember playing him. He was knocking the Buffalo Sabres all over the place. He was highly aggressive kid. Um, you know, played a really physical brand of hockey for for the Boston Bruins, and they ended up losing him. It's uh, it's you know, you start to look at teams that, um, you know, battled their way through the playoffs. They had Big Physical. Talk moving. Defenseman. Every single team instigators. W gr 5 50 MSG Kevyn Adams Press conference just ending and Elliott Friedman coming up at 11 o'clock, Apparently a couple teams that were that were in on Jack, then back out on Jack are now back in on Jack as the draft gets closer. So listen. I predicted that I'm not saying I said that, and I'm right. I'm saying like, I thought when Elliott said that last week or in his 31 thoughts, I'm like that they'll get back in there. They're playing hardball right now because they don't want to give up Quentin by field, a riff. Um But that being said, we'll talk to Elliott Friedman about that at 11 o'clock, one thing that Kevin Adams said here w gr tweeted out its vag. I'll give you that. It's vague, but I mean, like I said, Before we went to break I said, we're going to dissect. Kevin Adams isn't going to give you all his information and whatever he gives you is going to make it seem like he's not giving you any. Um, and this is what he said. He said We didn't want to lose anyone in the Seattle cranking crack an expansion draft. We love Wilbur. Oh, no, That's not the one. That's the wrong group chat. I'm sorry. I caught me by surprise. Um, I apologize. There's been a tremendous amount of conversation going on, leading.

"A said no. I'm serious this guy is good to me. That's a sneaky could pick by seattle. That's not gonna get a lot of headlines. Was there one and perhaps the answer from his carolina. Was there one team. You're surprised by the pick from seattle. Because morgan geeky over players like jake. Bean to me is more than an eyebrow raiser was there one team out there. Few the assad. That's an interesting choice. I didn't know they'd go that direction. Well when i heard beyreuther that was one of them. Just because i definitely didn't know they were going to go in that direction. You have kevin stenlund. Yes you did. Okay i thought. John quenneville. I thought they might take the door of so. Quenneville from the blackhawks was another guy. That kinda surprised me a little bit. Hayden flurry didn't surprise me. I i. I wasn't shocked at all. I know what the kings i really liked. The curtis mcdermott pick. But some people thought they'd pick Calc lake so i was. I was kinda zeroed in on that. But i like mcdermott a lot. Like you saw dave paxton talk about team. You know mcdermott pretty good team guy. He's very tough elliott. Yes really really tough hockey player. yes he is. What did you make of the jordan. Abberley selection. I think they really wrestled without one. He could've gone. Bailey coulda gone bellows. Yeah i thought they really wrestled with it. You know balian and have the same term. there's a little bit more money on On abberley as opposed to bailey. I think but i heard they really wrestled that one just to figure out. Okay which of these two do we do. We want you know. I think the allens are going to be interesting. I know how much lamelo loves rumors about his deal. I'm about as guys. But i know there's there's some teams wondering if they're going to be able to fit bo villi there with everything else that he's gonna try and do. That's going to be a situation to watch. I think. I think the other. Big surprise is larson. I again jeff. I've said a couple of times. It really looked like this deal was going to get done and i spoke to another player there today. After that got announced that he was going to seattle at basically the same money they edmonton was willing to pay. Its not like the crack and a blue the other side of the water here and you know they just said he was a guy looking for a fresh start you know. He's been through a law. His father passed away and how emotional that was for him. You know cleft bomb leaving. They said that was a bit of a factor to bite. You know one of the players said to me that they just wondered if he ever felt comfortable they're like going to edmonton in that. Whole maelstrom of the taylor hall deal and all of the one for wind jokes and and things like that. They said to me that adam larsson never felt comfortable in edmonton because of the way he got there and they just think that with a way it started and and cleft bomb and the family challenges you went through that it was just like you know what it's time to go do something else that would make sense. And that's one thing that we don't talk about enough when your those two and their performance were married for a long time. Who's going to win this deal House larson playing measure. That off against taylor hall as ridiculous as that might be. Because one's a defenseman wanna left winger. It did happen right and listen. We've seen it. We saw was su ban and weber like the high profile ones. This is what happens and we never consider what that does to the player who's considered the inferior of the two. We never talk about what type of mental grind. That puts you through like i always wondered. You know what happened. You know what went through the mind of Of tom kurvers in toronto. After that deal and after you know look at turned into You know. Tom kurvers for the draft. Pick that turned into scott neater buyer like that could not have been easy for the late. Tom rivers at all. That and we never consider that. We never considered it. I remember when i covered the montreal. Expos it's spring training one year. It was the year after. They traded pedro martinez and one of the pictures. They trade him for was tony. Armas junior at locked. I didn't interview with him. And oh i just remember him looking at me during the interview. Singham i'm going to have to deal with this all the time other deals around the nhl other stories around the nhl right now. We'll start with hall taylor hall. We just mentioned him with that tattooed trade and now adam larsson has left. He's member of these. We should get the compensation here as well. Seattle crack adam larsson. Seattle cracking jamie alexia larson. Four years for av alexia. Five years for point six by the way do not feeling that alexia leaving almost and i know you're gentleman g you don't to take things personally but they feel like this one might personally hurt. Jim nill i always got the sense that he really loved jamie alexia. They brought them back. Remember after he went to pittsburgh thr- autumn back had great success held onto him at deadline. Winnipeg was pushing hard. Thought it was going to get done. Loved the guy off to seattle thought on that one. They almost trade him at the deadline. There was a lot of interest. Like i said. Winnipeg colorado dallas themselves. They obviously really liked him. If you're going to get outbid you're going to get outbid. It wasn't.

"But It just kind of sucks that you've been building up to this show your first ESPN NHL program. And What am I tuning in to find out? It's a list of players that I knew eight we ate eight hours ago. And one of the reasons to watch would be the drama of all right. Well, what else did Seattle get? What did they get for not taking carry price, for example. If there was a side deal there for not taking terrorist Senko for not taking Jake Bean, You know, what did they get for these guys for not taking players and I can't imagine they didn't make one. I can't imagine that. I mean, Ron Francis isn't doing anybody any favors in the entertainment department. Because, like he could be intriguing here, and it could be like, Well, hey, I know Listen, there was a lot of people. A lot of people thought we were going to take Carey Price. But yes, I don't want to don't want to disagree with you. But also his job should not up there be right now to entertain. Right. That should be What That should be the rest of it and and everything around him. Can you have the speculation happened right there as they're doing it. Had to mean It would be more interesting that way. I cats. Um yeah, It's just kind of Just we're rolling on here. We We've got 15 minutes until this show is by the way is supposed to end. Uh, from on ESPN two. They are almost done with teams there in the Western Conference. They kind of went division by division here. Hayden flurry it appears was the most recent selection defenseman from the Anaheim Ducks. He's currently on the stage with Chris Fowler and Dominic Moore. We bring back though Paul Hamilton on the West, her hotline and Paul we talked to almost two hours ago, and I don't really think anything's different. No surprises. Um nothing is all the leaks were correct so far, and there's only a few more players to be named. We've had a chance to see the home and away jerseys. We find out that the crack and like the Buffalo Sabres will open there. Existence on the road. Buffalo Sabre started in Pittsburgh before they came home and play the Montreal Canadians. And the crack in will Their first home game will be their second game against what I'm sure will be a rivalry right across the border, The Vancouver Canucks will be their first home game. And their first game overall, be a road game at, uh, at Vegas. I didn't realize I mean, I'm sorry. This broadcast is just you. Just thank thank yourself that you haven't had to watch this. This has just been I've had. I've had to watch it, but it's better with the sound down, So I guess we haven't really been watching it. You are the winner for tonight. Every time it's been up like I go to commercial break and I turn the sound up. And, yeah, it's like what has had Happening. I can't even irises just way in over his head. It's it is just brutal. You know, Paul, I thought that like every time I've heard him, I'm like man. He just doesn't seem comfortable in this environment like I don't know what's up every team right. He just cuts them up. It says it's almost like he's saying, I don't want to be here either. So I'm just Skinner rip into the NHL and cut up everybody and and the things I have learned. I did not realize that the arena is a remodel of where the Seattle SuperSonics played pretty much at full remodel. People were telling me on Twitter. The roof is basically the only thing that's going to be the same. But you know they've kind of taken apart everything inside so that I didn't know we got a chance to find out their first two games both home and away. We and got to see their jerseys on actual players. They they've had about five of them there that they have actually chosen and Don Granados. Sister Cam E. As we know as a scout for Seattle, and she made one of the pics, so that was fun to see. And Marshawn Lynch was still just behind. That was interesting. Yeah, especially, he had to say Jarnkrok. It was beautiful. They gave him the perfect player to have to announce. I thought Calle Jarnkrok for sure. Oh, so that was the white boy. Kale was his. I think. What was his exact wording? Yeah, and Lenny Wilkins, the Hall of Fame NBA coach, he announced Will Borgen buffaloes picks so it's nice to see Peyton was there and Shawn Kemp some legends Sue Bird. Some of the Seattle Seahawks in attendance and having Lenny Wilkins there so That was kind of fun. I mean, there's a lot of buzz there, which is good, But ESPN is trying to kill the buzz as best they can. Uh, yeah, really, To be quite honest with you. They do have a lot of fish involved, though in the expense draft. Yeah, they're chucking fish. They got that box checked. They're chucking the crack in. And, um so, yeah, we got to see former saver. Dominic Moore. Throw one to, uh J. T. Brown is one of the announcers for Seattle. So he chucked the fish and Kevin Weeks like Cut. Where for Jared McCann's name? Yeah, yeah, that was hanging in there so Uh, Kevin Weeks is taking us on a tour of Seattle. In case you haven't been there, but As far as the nuts and bolts of this thing, Uh, I think he ESPN's all nervous right now. There. Yeah. Yeah, it's not. It's not. It doesn't seem like it's going. Great. Uh, let's put it this way. They have nowhere to go, but up, right? Uh, we're also Paul. Like I guess. One thing we're not learning is we're not seeing either on the broadcast, or even like just from checking Twitter..

"11 30. We'll see if he knows any more on the Jack Eichel situation within the lab. I mean, Trades because there are reports that, uh You know things are heating up. What do we make of all these reports? I mean, We just Is it real? You think all these reports about all it could be days, not weeks. It's right around the corner. I heard it's a keep your phone by your pocket type scenario. I mean, it's just I mean, where do we get all this information? Where do we get him? We get him, word of mouth a little leaking here and there people following up and trying to get the scoop. Well, you also get it because it's been quiet. Now it's been. It's been very quiet. The only time that it got really, really crazy is after Jack Eichel's exit interview, right? Because from the time Jack got hurt till the end of the season, we didn't hear anything. We didn't hear anything from Jack. He's injured, injured players Don't talk to the media. We got updates just basically saying, Jack is doing rehab and then Jack and his exit interview when he was asked about You know it was plus possible surgery or whatever from Paul Hamilton, and if it was his decision, that's where the bomb blew up. And Jack basically said, No, It's not my decision, and that's where the problem is. And then speculations went crazy about what his neck was. Wet surgeries were what's happening. And then now that the 12 week rehab here it is over. It's been quiet. Why? Because they're dealing with it, probably internally. So the quiet well, there's a lot that got out. And it is the more rumors there will be right because people are just chasing him everywhere. Yeah. But there was a lot that got out a lot of information that may be both sides didn't did not want to have come out. Um I'm sure they would have liked to keep it internal. But it did not happen that way. Now it you know when you listen to interviews and things like that speculation And everything speculative. Uh, you know, the mind starts going. The rumors start flying. But I'm going to tell you for the most part for the last month. It has been radio silent and we've just Um, start started. Now to hear hear a little bit that things have started to heat up on the Jack Eichel front. There are teams that are interested and things are starting to heat up starting to get closer and You know, we You know you we have people like Darren Dreger and Elliot. Uh, you know, That Are Looking for information, and and, uh I think that these deals can happen tomorrow or it could be months and months from now. But here's how you get information a few different ways. You get it directly from the team. You get it directly from the players or you get it from other teams around. Right now. There's no way Elliot and they're They're in Drager and anybody else That's an insider in the league is getting anything from the Sabres and Jack Guy goes down. They're not talking. They are not talking. That's not happening. So the information they're getting must be From teams around you call Ellie. You'd call Anaheim. You call Minnesota. You call the Rangers? You call all these teams, right? And Winnipeg Jets. Whatever. Yes. Yeah. So what's happening? Uh, with your team? What are you looking at? Any interest in some high end players? Would you part ways from some of your I n prospect? And then if you've got a door that's open to throw the Jack Eichel name out there you do it. You say what about Jack Eichel? And then you listen, I think, Sam. I mean, this could be obvious to you guys. I think Sam gets traded first. And I think the Anaheim talk is more about Sam than it is, Jack. I don't think they're in the market for Jack. Don't think they want Jack. I mean, I think they want, Jack, but I mean, I don't think I don't think they want to pay what they need to pay for Jack. But I also I just I don't know. I just I don't. I don't. I don't feel for some reason like the Anaheim deal. Or this talk with Anaheim is about Jack. I feel like it's more about Sam. No, He was in a pretty good spot. When you considered like, Yes, they they did not have a good year. But you look at the players that they have, um they've got a lot of young players. Uh, Troy. Terry is a very young player. Uh, you know, you've got Denton Hein and they got from Boston. I really like him. He's under a fee. This year. He's 25. He's young. You've got Max come to Ah, Who's an RFE this year? He's 22 on the defense they got, you know, they got a young Hayden flurry They got obviously, Drysdale, would you say that they have some good, solid group of young players. I think they do. Okay, So what do they need? What is their glaring one need that they need right now. Well, what they've been trying to do over the last few years has acquired like Mature, experienced veteran type of presence to help belonging to give him dad boost. So, um, and that's why maybe like they acquired Adam Henrique. Right. So now he's 31. But That's the reason why they acquired him from New Jersey one. I think they traded Uh uh, who did they trade to New Jersey. I think they got vetting them back, and they got in rig back. But anyway, that's what they were trying to do Somebody that's in the mental late twenties. That displayed for a while, and it could be a good support to the young players. And maybe that is more Sam name. It. Therefore, sentiments on on the Anaheim Henrik Derek Grant Church, Troy Terry. Ryan gets laugh..

"You know you you have to try that. Sometimes you always had a really good year for them this year. Mackenzie liter sure has in. There was a belief that the maple leafs tried to alleviate florida of the the burden of having such a wonderful defenseman on the roster and they did definitely did try. But you know that's the thing that you know. I was really curious about here. Is that no florida. Dave tried some unconventional things this year and so far they've been working and now they're going to try a couple more. I'll tell you that first round series. Whoever it ends up being in cambridge with these divisions are called right now but whoever finishes second third of that florida carolina tampa triumvirate. That's going to be one of the best series of the first round. Well and you in in a lotta ways. It's the central division by the way. You're really kind of hope that it's tampa because you just wanna get these teams meeting in the playoffs ashamed. That won't have to go out in the first round. But i don't care just these two have been in the league for too long that close together in the same state for them not to play against one another. The other end of that. Sam bennett deal is of course. A calgary flames and brad tra- living. I thought he did well. I thought his value was good. Basically to second rounders because they got a prospect from last year. I heard some a couple. Couple me about that prospect after we put it out there a meal heynemann. There's a. there's a couple of really liked him as a player. They say that he's going to be middle. Six guy who's gonna kill some penalties and drive people crazy. You only the good things about them. What happens now. With the calgary flames. I mean this was. This was a tough day for flames. Fans been tough season for for flames fans. It seemed like it was a tough day for brad. Tra- living did some things that He kind of got the feeling he had to do. Like this was not the plan for the flames. This year i the flames go out and pick up town of and pick up marks from it as a general manager. You not expecting to have that type of press conference on trade deadline. No i think they were hoping they were going to be able to move ryan to there. Were definitely some talks around him but obviously it didn't happen. But you know what you gotta third rounder for riddick. You got the two seconds. Essentially for bennett. But i do think the flames are pretty much doing their legwork. What happens now the other team. I heard that chuck fletcher had an interesting comment about. I'm gonna fix some things in the off season. I think philly's been doing a lot of their legwork to laying the groundwork for what's what's going on the surprise they did scott lot no Because i think lot and wanted to stay you. Know the tanner pearson deal. That really changed some things. I think it affected the follow deal and i think it affected the lot and deal by those. Were two players who wanted to stay. You know. I have follow wanted to stay in. La and lawton wanted to stay in philly. And i heard that the pearson deal kind of changed the landscape around them you know and you have to do your grinding on both sides but neither one of those two guys wanted to go anywhere as a matter of fact like in phillies case. I think they investigated trading him like they were checking their the market. I heard la like robert. Blake was was saying. I don't even if we don't sign him which they did. I'm i don't know if we're trading them. I probably not want to get your thoughts quickly. Vancouver can actually talked about. George ben from the winnipeg point of view. Jim benning also moving adam. Good debt chicago blackhawks. Matthew highmore comes back the other way you know it was it was. It was interesting watching christopher stieg. Who who knows high more played with them Go out of his way to mention. How good a player. Highmore is and what the vancouver connects. You're getting in this cow. Well i i mean obviously the cannot twitter was not giving it rave reviews so i was very interested in hearing what ver steeg had say. You know i. I think there's a couple of things at play here number one. I think got at was ready to go from vancouver. Let let's take the kovic situation out of this okay. Let's just talk about it from a purely hockey point of view while one thing that jim benning did mention is this is the classic. He needs a change of scenery. Yes the all. We reported a couple of times this year. That good that was out there. I think they talked to nashville about him. I think they talked to boston about him. And probably more. Those are two why i know of. I think that was ready to go. I think he felt his career was stagnating in vancouver and he was ready to move on and i think the canucks were ready to obviously ready to accommodate him. They did now. Ian mcintyre who does a great job of reporting reporting there for us. He said that there was no correspondence with the whole situation. And good at being sort of the patient zero of the covid situation out there. Look i i find it very hard to talk about in the sense the might teammate. I don't like disagreeing with my teammates and it's be exa happy disagree with all the time. I just think that this whole last couple of weeks has put an enormous strain on the franchise and i had one agent. Who told me that some of the players really thought the coverage of the symptoms and stuff was way overblown. And i had others. Who told me no. This is serious and some players are really unhappy so the truth is probably somewhere in the middle right. You know jeff. I just look at it and i'm like it's hard to believe that the past couple of weeks didn't accelerate an already unhappy players departure. Make sense a couple of things not things that happened and will conclude on this not things that happened but things that didn't happen The name ryan gets laugh was a surprise to a few people just hearing that his name was out there. Now we've talked about the anaheim ducks before. And i think a lot of people looked at the anaheim ducks and said hachem. Not more moose. But i think a lot of people were surprised even to hear his name involved in trade discussions despite the fact that he's an impending unrestricted free agent. Nothing ended up happening with ryan guests laugh but was it ever close. I don't think it was close. I think it was discussed. You know like. I said i. I believe montreal called asked about him and you know. I don't think he was going there. I i think if it was anywhere it was close. I think gets laugh wise willing to discuss the possibility of vegas by you know. One of the things in anaheim did wise. You know the prices were really high for a lot of anaheim's guys One of the teams that was asking about josh. Manson said to me it was like they were basically saying. Don't ask but if you do it's going to be so high that you're not gonna wanna do it anyway. So that's kind of where it was there. I really liked anaheim gamble on hayden flurry like i. I see two teams. That got what they wanted there. I thought it was a good gamble for anaheim a younger player that needs more of an opportunity to play and.

"Paddock Chevrolet Sports of the NHL trade deadline came and went yesterday and well for the sabers. It was relatively quiet on deadline day, the only activity that happened for Buffalo Was the official trade announcement of Taylor Hall, who goes to the Boston Bruins, along with Curtis ALS are in exchange for foreign Andres Bjork and a second round pick in this year's draft. Fair to say, you know, there's obviously nuances between a no trade and no move clogs and what all that means, But, you know, the reality of the situation is back in the off season. When we signed Taylor. We felt strongly that we need to be having a one year deal to make sure that we were being disciplined and remain flexible. Moving forward. You're part of the agreement was to be able to offer him and don't move. Klaus and I understand that that's general. Manager Kevyn Adams. "Think those are just moved to kind of like once again. Bolster that roster and Picking up dude. Nick to kind of add a more insurance in the net is kind of like. I thought that was an underrated move. I i could picture tube. Nick point like starting games in the playoffs for them. Because i actually am curious. Like really diehard avs fans at how you feel about and i think he's been awesome there but something about him just doesn't scream like i'm completely confident getting into the playoffs. I i don't know if that's complete ignorance on my part but dube knicks. Like all right. Well he goes in and now you have like a real other a true backup in a sense where he's playing. You're you're very comfortable. You know what i mean. It's not like oh my god we gotta have group our stay healthy. It's like if something were to happen. We have a guy who's done it and done it real while the past eight years. Whatever it's been. I consider it a very similar move to a toronto de the added. Some depth in net batted adept on the back end and they added some depth upfront. You could argue. That felino is better than soderbergh at this point. But a couple years back when i watched sorta replay with the coyotes. I think he had nineteen bucks. That you're like he's a fucking solid solid third-line forward. I just realized to group how he's unrestricted after the shia to they don't have any goalie signed past this year. Colorado but yeah either way and also to grew. Of course you know. They lost last year due to injury and they had to go to the third dirt shrink goal and they weren't prep fart. So you know if grew by gets feld again at the duke nick. Before the yoenis show hanson they got from buffalo. Who has actually been pretty good in the first game. Daddy got a shadow and stop so all right. Let's see we got a couple more before it gets off i interview edmonton picked up defenseman. Dmitri kulikov from new jersey conditional fourth in twenty twenty two it'll becomes a third if edmonton wins one playoff round. Let's see nashville picked up defenseman branson from ottawa. For seventh in twenty twenty three. He's going to be a ufo as well. This is fifteen three seasons. Let's see jets. Picked up. Judy ben from vancouver for a six rounder. They needed to do something to they. Were looking at people. Were looking for them to get a couple demand. They got the goalie and they got the forwards to do it but the defense has been questioned. So ben is a veteran. And you bring a man and he'll be able to play. But i actually thought that they try to do a little bit more same and i think nashville too. Like they brought in good branson I think that like once. They started playing well and are sitting in the playoffs now. That was the complete end of echo going anywhere. He's also signed next year. So i don't know i i'm just my brain is not working right now and all. The the winnipeg caused the same way. I was feeling we're on like a compliment that forward group but it. There's nothing to be to be done in the markets too high. I mean i. I like jordi bad. I think he definitely add some depth to that back end but nowhere near where i think they need to be in order to get to that next level like they're they're outmatched against strana right now and if you think that your ford group can out compete. There's oak and of course solidifying goaltending. Sure i think wheeler has a konki. Now does he. Yeah y'all gonna get that little. Yeah healthy. He did skate monday. I mean that's a positive sign but yeah yeah that's good. Yeah did you see the collision you have a brady. You get hit with his elbow. But he's an advert. Yeah those high speed both going for the puck and you know brady's plays high but he's he's not a dirty kid. I don't think he meant by any stretch so either way we hope it gets better. We want them out let's see chicago. Blackhawks picked up local kid. Adam god debt and they sent vancouver centre matthew high more one for one year ago debt. He's leaves so good at northeastern. And i think i don't think he's a checker. I don't think he. I think he has to play on top to line and he never got the chance. He was always playing on a bottom line in vancouver for what i saw. So he's a guy that goes to chicago and just starts playing way up in the lineup. I don't know what i saw in college. I thought he could be sick in in the show i i agree with. Chicago's the type of team where it seems like guys come in they go. Let's see if you can do it. Let them fly. Whereas travis green you know more likes the guys in their roles spots and you know maybe to play a little bit harder wearing some guys. It's just not in their nature. I like i like when guys go to chicago now. Because i think you're going to get to see them try to flourish in offensive positions whereas like but but also like it might be like okay. Yeah he was done. I don't know the book of all right. Let's go up to the province of quebec montreal. Canadian's picked up a pair of defenseman. They got defenseman. John mero from detroit for fifth in twenty twenty one and they picked up. Eric gust of some from philadelphia for seven to twenty two. Obviously both those guys at montreal. Just shoring up like all. These teams don't Carolina hurricanes. They sent defenceman hayden flurry to anaheim for defense mignoni. Hot con hocken. Pa six twenty two And basically that's it for all major trades. Unless i won't narrow. I was gonna ask you about merrill to to montreal wit. I heard a couple of people pop up on twitter like all. This is the undercover one of the best moves of the of the deadline. Is that just a hyper bowl. Bullshit or what. That's when you look at like. I think some of the stuff comes from advanced numbers and stats that. I do not really like no not not really no. I don't know so there are certain players who are so valuable when you look at advanced status and that regular fans were certain numbers or certain. Gm's look at his as not as good as these numbers say right. Maybe he's one of those guys. I'm not sure. I know he's solid. But when i saw some of the things you're talking about i was like i didn't know. Is this good. Maybe maybe i'm off on his game. But i know what you're saying. It seemed like that was like a lot of people. Thought that was the the not the unspoken but a deal. That wasn't talked about enough. What i mean yeah and and and also talking about the number stuff and analytics like that's why people went crazy crazy over the mantha and brand thing mike. Why get that. It seems like an overpayment and not a great deal at this time. But it's like you're also comparing a guy who's playing in detroit guys playing in washington so you have to take those with such a bigger grain of salt and ultimately that comes down to like what the on argument is case they gotta get price gallagher and chirac back You know i. I said it long time. This season's gone on. I don't see them competing for a stanley cup. But you never know if price can get hot. We'll see. But i don't see them getting out of the first round all right. Do the last two days twitter should have a wanting signed for the hot takes like sometimes you get aggravated like the shit stuff. He replied but the last couple of days. It's been comical. Like obviously the bruins of men making deals. I've been tweeting stuff but just bruins fan. I'm one of them. But like some of the shit. I've been hearing like what's an example the row like stuff like they should trade rask. I was like okay. He's hurt right now. He's on a restricted free agent. Whose rally you sleeping. I'm no that's just like blows my fucking mind. Bruins fans would ever want to train to correct like all all they should trade block. It's like okay. He's got covid in. He's restricted who and the people. It's like do follow hockey. Like who are you going to trade. What are you gonna move. Read my replies from sunday man. Like i usually get aggravated fucking holland because the outrageous shit that it's like do people like not knowing the fucking cbs toronto. Any like cross. Avs crosby the dollar. Gets you boiling. Crosby malcolm one four. one. I'm going down with the ship with drager. We're going fucking crosby to the odds at least in the next three years or so often on hall to the maple leafs i. There are a lot of reports about him going and they ate half the salary. So it's not like a salary was a thank you very much. Higher pump. Thirty bucks posed episode. It's fifty fifty..

"Is has added some veteran players to the mix like Brett Conley, who's won a Stanley Cup. Stillman. Is it still a younger player, but at the same time, I think that he can add Lot to the mix. And Vinny headed of Stroh's has come back in here 27 years of age, and he has performed very well. So I really think that Stan did an excellent job and I got to give him an A for for what happened here today and in the last 10 days well before we get into our next, just as the dust continues to settles, Sometimes these trades come in really late. But as you look around the landscape, whether it's in the central division that the Hawks are in right now, at least for this season. Or around the league. What's jumped out at you? Obviously, Columbus made another big move since the Blackhawks played a zoo. Toronto has really stocked up here. Detroit made an interesting move here. This afternoon, and Florida picks up a little bit of physicality and tempt. They already did some business with Columbus as well. But then you know you have you have collects of Colorado and and Boston. Making some impacts Move Washington as well, I mention Detroit What has particularly stood out to you in terms of teams that have really helped themselves here being in the central or overall well, I think within the central division we can focus on that for for just now, Sam Bennett is an element that Florida is gonna use it in the playoffs. He's a physical guy he is known for producing in the playoffs. It just hasn't worked out and Cal Greene is this is another high end. First round draft pick, and they thought that when Darryl Sutter came in, it was going to be kind of more his type of a coach that he would excel in that in that manner, but didn't seem to work out that way. So he's going to get a fresh outlook with Florida. He's gonna bring a physical presence when they Florida Panthers lost their main man back there. They're big stud defenseman in Aaron Ekblad. You knew that they had to make a move. And Savard who end up going to Tampa Bay was was a name That was kind of bantered around a little bit. But they picked up Mon tour from the buffalo sabers. And then this kid is a good player. He's really gonna help him so Think Buffalo didn't Earth. Florida didn't excellent job of picking Montoro out from Buffalo, and I think he's going to add a nice dimension to their blue line there that they were kind of missing with Ekblad being out of the equation. I think Tampa, which is a solid team really didn't have to do a lot of tinkering, but they needed to solidify their defense. They picked up a solid defense of Physical guy and in Savard, which is a big loss for the Columbus Blue Jackets, who, on the flip side of where you're at Columbus picked up some some prospects and some draft picks from Toronto, but they lost their heart and soul and Nick Folino, so I think it's going to be tough. He he was the glue inside that locker room and has been for many years and he was a guy that Head coach John Tortorella really relied on to stabilize that locker room when you know he himself gets a little bit fiery. So it was a great relationship between Tortorella and his captain Flano that is gone now. So Columbus kind of hurt themselves. Carolina was a little bit more quiet. They ended up slipping shipping away. Hayden flurry and Picked up some, You know, small stuff. They're so I really think that Florida Tampa addressed some of the issues that they had some of the more interesting things around the NHL. That was the Boston Bruins picking up Taylor Hall and not really getting They're having to give up a whole lot to get him. I think Taylor whole stock has dropped so far down. He's just having a terrible season this year. And for whatever reason for a guy who was the M V P and One of the top draft picks way back in the day. He just hasn't been a fit in any city that he has gone to which it just seems like It's a really weird situation. But Boston, I think Has enough leadership inside that locker room that even if there's an issue there that you can absorb Hall and make sure that he buys into what's going on there. I think that he needs that visit veteran presence around him toe, keep him on the straight narrow and make sure that he's consistent in the way that he plays the game. S O. That was a real interesting one. I think that Montreal solidified what they were looking for on the on the back end as well. Ottawa in the same position is kind of Chicago. They got rid of A lot of older players and brought in picks and prospects. So there was some interesting stuff, not a lot of work going around the NHL as far as major trades, But you look at Detroit again. They got rid of Anthony Mantle, which was a big pickup by the Washington Capitals and And they kind of paid a price for it. But at the same time, I think that if you're Steve, I zoom in the gentle manager in Detroit. You're realizing that things aren't going the way that he would envision them to be going right now. So again, he's restocking like Blackhawks are and hopefully in a couple years when these younger prospects and reach their potential to start to read through potential, you know you're gonna be in contention and building better by design is sponsored by architect of Chicago and creating thousands.

"At three after Carolina just jumps out of the gate in the second period scores two goals in the opening 50 seconds worth and drive. This is the first time in a long time that we've really seen the black box in long stretches of scramble mode. I mean they were able to even after those two quick goals in the opening, helping many of the second period Carolina just got coming in coming for a while, but the Hawks asleep, We're able to withstand it, but Don't can imagine Jeremy's to please a man in that room. Probably his Unpleased displeased his Rod Brind'Amour was in the first period. You know that the players Of the Hurricanes understood that they were not good in that first period, and that that's a kind of a veteran group of guys that they have in their their defense is is not young. Their youngest defense is Hayden flurry of 24 years of age, and he's played a lot of years. In the NHL, so they've got a lot of Experience guys in there that know how to react to a bad period now for the Blackhawks. On the flip side, they averted any more damage. After that, scoring, giving up two goals in the 1st 50 seconds. They hung on there. But one major issue in that second period was face off. State lost 19 of 22 face off 19 and three or the drugs. What's legal? What's the league minimum? These days? Troy which I'm gonna volunteer? I'm gonna I'm gonna go down and volunteered and I'll play for the league minimum. I'll take the face off and I'll guarantee you'll go right back off the ice. But they need to find a way to start winning some face offs. I mean, they're just getting destroyed in all areas and Carolina once they get puck possession. They just keep.

"A little bit of a different look to the fourth line for the Blackhawks than we've seen here. This far this season. So you look at their little bit of skill that has been added to that that line a little different dimensions for suitor in they're coming off a game winning goal is fourth of the season it with Patrick came to the team lead in that category. Philip Currie, Chev. Was going to face off with Vincent Pro check, but pro checks been tossed out of there is some good strength down the middle for the Carolina Hurricanes in the center ice position. Ah, hold Trow check install all very good, and they just won the draw for Carolina. But courage have had the puck along the right boards, and he lost it. Back. Either way, Come to cane Stroh check down the left wing hot zone shoots kicked out of there by Lincoln and punch centered from behind the net by Trocheck trickles up the slot. Here's a shot from Brett Pesce E that was blocked in the slot. Pain reaching for the puck out near the line works it free. And then Keith is able about it out to center ice, and then, with a little poke check, he'll direct it down into the hurricane zone. Martin. He just got it. They're sent it over to Brett Passy along the right boards, and he'll spend it ahead on the right wing for Trocheck, its center ice. It's office sick and down. Behind the hawk at the Canes go for a line change. Keith carries the center. I spats the puck off the left wing glass just inside the hurricane blue line, Alex to bring it back in the lineup. Had a chance. Lost it. And now I gotta back at center ice. Got it in over the hurricane line. To Dominic Kubelik. Top of the right circle of Dylan Strome. Bottom of the left circle. He fired one off the side of the Net. Strong gotta back in behind. No, Alex to break it to stroll in the left wing corner. Sent it up the boards. Nikola Boat and pitching from the left point to the corner. Got it on goal turned out of there. And then Kubelik fires from the left circle. That was more of a past of the right circle. Nobody home hurricanes get it back. No hawks. Don't Sebastian on How long the right wing side two former hockey table terrifying and got it into the deep slot and Dougie Hamilton pumps. One tore the net that reflects up off the glass terrifying and behind the hock nets in the left wing corner, jams it into the crease and Lincoln and down the knock it Wide, and then the puck spun away to the near class by Dylan stroll. Hurricanes keep it alive on the Hawks sown Jordan Martin look at the left point sends it down the boards behind the hawk net around and up the near side and to bring it will deflect the puck down into the hurricane in the Kanes, Get it back and regroup and then a pass from Hayden flurry from the hurricane zone, misses his teammate at the hotline and goes all the way down. Icing called against Carolina whenever the Blackhawks returned to full strength after a penalty but is sponsored by Northwestern medicine, orthopedics under relentless pursuit of better medicine. One other thing that Carolina does is Does anybody in the NHL is worth in the offensive zone. They throw pox at the net. Everything that they do in the offensive zone generates towards the front of the Net for words Need to be blocking some shots here tonight. Here's Morgan geeky Angela Hock Zone along the right wing side after he had Shaken his check from Carl Soderberg on the hot zone. And from the right wing boards geeky will flip it off the right side glass into the corner. And Chicago area native Ryan did single Had it lost the puck Sean the other way through center ice. Hey, go on The left wing corner Hurricane zone spends it behind the net. Soderbergh came out with it. The Hagel in front of Chutes and Pat save made my Reimer boy. Hagel nearly had his first NHL goal. Here's the single A native of Weeden, passing the puck ahead to center ice to Martin back to the single over the hot line of the right circle Fair to shot looked like Murphy got a piece of that with a sick Murphy is able to stop it in the far corner where the Han behind the net back over to Murphy, then up. The left wing hime are hustling through center ice and over the hurricane line to the left corner, Sharp angle shot and Reimer put his love up to knock it away. Just talk to the near boards warrant. Fogel passing ahead, especially confident the Hoxton walked into the net and got a shot away. And that was turned wide by Langton and then special Akane friend in tow. Langton in both Europe in okay, more chances here, the 1st 3.5. Minutes. Then we saw a whole period against the Columbus Blue Jackets. This pace is like a playoff picture. This is the way Carolina plays. They just motor. There's Jordan Stall down the right wing hawks. Don't put it out in front session. A cop shoots since cars And Andre. Such niqab look like he got body position on the Hawks. David Kamp, who was back checking as hard as he could. But special coffee redirected that stall passing behind Lincoln and the Hurricanes ever won. Nothing leave. They don't waste any time, boy. They move it yourself and they move it with speed. One handed pass by Big Jordan stalled, drafted second overall in the draft that Jonathan Tevas was third. Nice little play here right through the front of the crease area. David Camp was back in position, but he's got his you mentioned beyond the other side of the equation. You don't take the stick away the man or the pocket..

Say for instance, Thomas Secure Scott Mayfield you know what I mean how the contracts parade over I feel like I should know this especially considering. So like if a guy has one year left on his contract as he pulled that same one year over to the new team or is a five year contract as he pulled the entire five years over to the new team yet. So. Even if his one year contract, I feel like that's a risky move. So say that I. So, this expansion drafts going to be taking place in twenty twenty one, right? Yeah. So say that I. Am A player. Why does the islanders at Barclays center? The came to the defensive zone. Drawl win trying to work it out tied at two four and a half minutes to go in the middle period. Carolina brings it over the line. Greg mic drop for Martin point now for slave in skating about the left circle around panic broken up Dougie Hamilton high slot the blocker save it dropped to his right and the outage able to get into the fall wall and out of harm's way club down there by Greg mechanic, left wing corner. Plays around right point for an open. Jacob Slaven already with eleven assists now and the Stanley Cup playoffs. Put it in the near corner battle continues for Patrick Brown. And then pellet tried to get it out. Couldn't do it. It's held in mind. The keg high slot surrounded by his shot his block and a loose puck finally grabbed by Brock Nelson. They'll slow it down at island rights Brock lift a stick of macaque there to prevent him from getting shot off. Here is Nelson right wing over the canes line changing behind him sold by some time in the far corner canes double team and take it away and quickly come the other way, WalMart right wing over the outer line one on one kind of go around Nicoletti forces wide, Nikki turned over to Nita rider left wing corner. Plays around right point looking for teammate and FOX is shot wide. Right. Trying to lose fucking crease. Robin letter gets the cover, and then Nido goes out at Thomas Hickey sticks up and they're up into each other's faces as well. Hannity officials jump in between two to the score three twenty to play in period. Two. There's a bouncing puck off the Ricky shape from. Shot that goes right off the backboard looked like it was going to rebound out well away from the net, but Nita rider, not sit down at a mid air. But to back in front of the crease as about also off Robin Lehner who never lost sight of that puck. So the rebound from meter rider. Well, covered by letter ticketed like the shot from neater either the stick that went onto his net. Mitre that's why he gave a shot with the stick gator out or may have gotten a fest right into the face of Thomas sticky. No penalties. Call either way crosscheck sickie or rough against Nita ride. So we will stay five side the face off in the left circle of island rice to the right of Rodman Leonard who again came in number one in the NHL playoffs both goals against average at one point four. Save one point four seven save percentage at nine fifty two canes. Win the face off its Hayden flurry. It is serious debut at left point with a shot that flock and quarterback flips it out the center trying to send away Matt Morton at the Carolina line, but breath cash beat him to it. You got a native of? We'll go to the man advantage actually having worse now with Morton and Nicoletti with another member of the canes as this starts to get a little testy. Greg.
