Caitlin Clark leads Iowa to first Final Four since 1993
"Caitlin Clark had the first 40 point triple double in March Madness history as the Iowa Hawkeye's advance to the final four with a 97 83 win over the Louisville Cardinals. Clark tallied 41 points 12 assists in ten rebounds and dominating the game. I pride myself in doing a lot of different things for this team. And this is probably the biggest game I played in, but I honestly felt it was one of the most common I've ever felt before a basketball game in my life. You know, I believed, and I visualized. Former Rep. Jason Lewis of Minnesota Shares His Story
"Bit about your background and then what, you know, what staircase you fell down to say, I need to run for Congress, you know? Well, you do, I was in the airport the other day and somebody came up to me, and said, I know you, didn't you used to fill in for Russia and you were in Congress for a while and I said, yep, that's me and they said, whatever happened to you anyway. We all get those. Well, look, I grew up in a small business family. My mom was from north Minneapolis. My dad was from Iowa. We settled in the Hawkeye state, but Minnesota was the second home. So when I fell into talk radio after graduate school, I opportunity to go home to Minneapolis and St. Paul, I did. And that was in the early 90s and raised my two daughters here for 30 years. Loved it. Got into radio. It was fortunate enough to hit the timing was good, telling them for rush and had my own syndicated show for a while. But at some point, Doug, you know what it's like, you could be a commentator so long, but after a while, you got to put your money where your mouth is and you want to get on the field and play. Because the only way to really change things is to vote for them. So I thought, and most, by the way, most commentators won't talk most talk show hosts don't do that because they can demagogue your previous comments like Supreme Court Justices from and I knew that would happen with me and it did with CNN and all the rest. But I really didn't care. I just said, look, I want to do something. And I was fortunate to come into Congress with a new president when we really had an opportunity to do things and we did. But it was really just more of an angst about, look, you can talk all day long, but at some point, get sued up, get in the game. And so I did do that and served. I thought in one of the more consequential terms of Congress, and then I ran for the U.S. Senate alongside the president, here in Minnesota, and two years ago, and October, we were neck and neck with Tina Smith, who was the Democrat, I would say from Minnesota, but really she represents Planned Parenthood. Her former employer. But I felt that we were going to win Minnesota. I really felt the president went. And we did great. I collected more votes than any other statewide cabinet in Minnesota history. We outperformed the top of the ticket by two points, but we had 1.9 million absentee ballots at 60% of the total Minnesota vote gained by mail.

Braden Smith leads No. 1 Purdue past Iowa 87-73
"Purdue freshman brayden Smith played more like an upper classman in the boilermakers 87 to 73 win over Iowa. Smith had 24 points as number one Purdue improved to 23 and two. Shots just fell and kind of just play how it went. So with shots being able to fall, obviously confidence goes up a little bit. So that's what was happening. So it just felt good to make a couple shots. The boilermakers saw a 21 point second half lead cut to 6 with 6 minutes left, but it was all Purdue after that. "Actor Jeremy Renner is recovering in an intensive care unit after suffering injuries in a snowplow accident near Reno Nevada on Sunday, a marchesa a letter with the latest. "Extra Jeremy Renner is recovering from serious injuries suffered while plowing snow in Reno, Nevada. I'm Archie's are a letter with the latest. Then you'll have an opportunity to Play and i think if i were to think of a couple i would think possibly awesome asked us here. I chance for him. I'm know comeback being on. Scholarship may have more responsibilities than getting some minutes this year. So i think you know someone who worked with played with and coached and he's definitely one of the best shooters i played with and really looking forward to. You know maybe seen him get a chance to play this year and some meaningful minutes and the other person added that in. Probably another freshman. I'm really looking forward to watching paint sanford. I think the kid out from walkie iowa kid and you know from what i've heard plan really well And just given his skill set how it will be able to stretch before with the shooting I think he's definitely another Personal out for so. I know I think they're like preseason projected nine or something like that but I do think they have a good mix of experience and youth as average games. Like we always do roy's and be able to score the ball. I know even losing all american. And joey scam to the pros. We've always been able to just and that was one fun thing. This year was gonna chance to see what goes through these coaching meetings. Like how do they kind of figure out how score and this way we can do this so that you know. I think we always have no deal with score and be able to run a bit more this year. I think with some of our wings so looking forward to that. But yeah i mean. My expectations are indefinitely and civilly tournament than from there. You know go as far as you can so I've got a lot of faith in the steam and a lot of coaching staff right. He final four. I think combined we have like 9 kids, whatever it is between the three of us. But when I was straight week, you got to go find Julian Vanderbilt, you got to tell him, hey, we need to zoom this week. And you got to get the man that basically took freshman interviews away from us until this year on the podcast to talk to IOI with state Julian always good to see you my friend. You look good. I appreciate that. I lost like 30 pounds and then I put it back on. So, you know, my body's in just a constant state of confusion, but I'll tell you what, it is good to be vindicated, freshman can talk to the media again. Players have social media accounts they can make money off their names and likenesses. I don't know what's going on anymore. Yeah, it was fun. You know, because I had mentioned something to Kirk just kind of quietly just kind of set to him, hey, you know, probably shouldn't let freshman talk now that name image like this is going on. You know, because I could go and basically, you know, agree to interview any freshman, pay him some money, you know, and do a weekly interview with the freshman now. I wanted to. And he's like, you know, it's a good point. You know, he's probably make him available. Tom, are you taking credit for a freshman? No to be able to interview that. He's. Already made the decision. He had already said we were talking about it. But I was just like, it's time to let them let them talk. I know we've talked about it a lot, Julian, but honestly, when we tweeted today, you're going to be on the podcast. People, I mean, people brought it up. I mean, you remember it well, you stand by that comment. I mean, do you not? I do. I will forever stand by that comment. I've got I've got good friends who went to Iowa state, right? My wife spent a semester there and I've since converted her. I mean, you know, it has never been untrue. I think. And that's one of the beautiful things about sports is you have rivalries where like, you know, I could know that somebody's a good person at heart and that's fine. There are good cyclones. There are bad hawkeye fans, but at the same time, I mean, I don't, I deliberately do not wear like red and yellow on the same day. If I'm wearing red shorts, I can't wear yellow shirt if I've got red underpants. I can't wear yellow shorts. I mean, that's the level of just of just absolute disdain. So it's been an impressive thing to watch from afar. What they've done in india you. Tom allen's done a nice job in his ten years. Really kind of you know if they had a breakthrough last year for sure. So the intriguing thing with when when you look at iowa and what's going on with offensive line is their defense. So i'm weak big-league back has it seemed extra long. I listen to the kirk show tonight for a little bit. And he kind of talked about. How last year seemed a long time ago. And with the weirdness and the not having a bowl game and all that kind of stuff doesn't seem like last time and then especially with the fact that like for fans balancing iowa in person in two years it just it this game. We took a while to get here. I think more than usual this year. And i think people were extra excited about it it. It seems like it's been a while timing. And i'm excited to watch college football this week and and watch iowa kicks me too. I'm excited to see all the fans back in the stands You know. I was up in the press box the other day. They're sending us over after we get done talking players just over to the press box in then we go back over to the football complex. Talk kirk and You could see Some of the infrastructure that they have put together inside of kinik with Adult beverages bud lights and when my friends sent me a picture of the miller lite truck getting unloaded there so they're also going to have You know like the local brewery psych back pocket Big grove and single speed. I've harped on this for a long time that You know the keys fry will. Football are the offensive line in the defensive line and it seems like both positions are kinda up in the air with the offensive line. When i didn't hear from kirk was boy. We've got a lot of I think they feel okay about the guys. But i didn't feel like know kirk didn't go up there and say we have aid starters. You know he didn't come out do that but he said it might play six seventy guys. He's got to figure out what he's got in those guys so I thought that was minor league concerning. At least you know it should be because in the analytics depressure team. So we'll talk about that of minutes but And then the defensive line it sounds like you know shan way black Been kinda dinged up. Maybe some other guys dinged up along that defensive line so You know some guys might be a little bit more limited And their snap. Count on saturday so we'll have to monitor that. Watch that on the positive side. it sounds like spencer. Pewtrusts is really coming along Seems like he's really kinda getting a better groove and playing at a very high level In practice so we'll see if that translates field but It just it seemed like maybe something's starting to click with him at the wide receiver position from the true freshman standpoint keegan johnson in arlen. Bruce applying cook also mentioned jackson. Ritter which i thought was interesting. One of the walker. Who's kind of top. Six rotation. I i should die back to the offensive line where you know. He's kinda throughout you know boast even scott mentioned of true freshman Colby may and other true freshman. I don't think though stevenson play but You know it's ascension is named got brought up So i'm just. I'm curious about the options blind in trying to play on a rotation of some sort. I still wonder if mason richmond's gonna get the call at left tackle but will see right now. It's jack plum was said. Stop the depth chart. Really the only two guys i think that. Are you feel comfortable. That aren't going to have probably rotation or cogan said garden opposite.

"Because our guys aren't here yet So i don't have a great feel for that number in fact i haven't been told that number yet and it's something it's a touchy situation with. Hr training staff and how you go about it. And and so We have been proactive. In in sending out Men most of the guys you know basically asking them to consider getting vaccinated because it will make everything better for everyone and then make their lives a lot easier. Once they get to campus with the protocols they won't have to follow. Oh i. I am pretty confident that our our rate is going to be real high When we get back. But i truly don't know that answer I'll probably find out early next week. once once we get the team we meet. We meet at two o'clock on monday for the first time So so anyway. That's the answer that question. And and i i do feel feel like Our guys will have a pretty high percentage not close to present. But i don't know for sure because i'm not privy to the information yet. So how does that sound. Was it last year with everything that i said to go through the hoops to jump through. I mean they had been it was really hard and and and you know you don't wanna make excuses and you don't you don't wanna do those things but there were so many things that happen. Because code that affected her season and affected wins and losses and it affected injuries and affected players. Draft potential mean. It was just a frustrating frustrating thing to deal with. Because you you you didn't have control and in baseball. You hear me talk a lot that control you know controlling what you can't control is the most important thing you can do. Is baseball player. Because if you get caught up in results you get caught up and You know trying to trying to live in the past on bad calls or no missed calls or strikeouts or walks..
