"Miss a payment, you're not going to be able to open your Windows. If I get to have air in the car, like it will lock itself. It won't open itself. So if you've missed a payment, you can't drive your car. I mean, it used to be in the noble land of America or Britain that a man's car was his castle. It was his refuge from its wife and children if you go for a walk near where I live, you are just in it, and it's nighttime you are confronted by the reflected faces of middle aged men looking iPad screens in their cars. At night. They're either Uber drivers or they're trying to hide from their wife and kids, but all of a sudden the car turns on you. Now your car is like a weird simp for the company man. In night rider didn't like David Hasselhoff and was just constantly trying to ruin his life. I already have so it's like kind of like going, you don't own the car. The company owns the car. And as a woman, I always sort of already feel like I don't own my car. Because I was out and I was out and it last summer and this little Greek man came over and he was like, oh, that's a lovely card and it perfect for the weather, and I was like, yeah, yeah, it really is and he was like, yeah, all bought that for you. And I was like, I bought it for me, and he was like, just look really confused. I think I ruined his day. Like he couldn't get his head around the idea that I'd bought myself a nice car. So already he's a woman, I feel like a lot of the time people are like, how did you get that? Let alone with the car company going. We can just take this back at any time. We feel like you can feel your husband's happy with you driving that car. Horrendous. That's very nice of him to allow you with your bad woman driving. Take it out. This story reads is very dystopian, but I kind of like the idea of them taken away a job from a human, and human being a bailiff and a repossessor, like I feel like it's the self service scan of absolute bastardy. And at least you don't have to put fruit. You don't have to put humans through having a choice of having a job and being an absolute bastard, or, or, you know, just getting on with their life. So I kind of like it that way. Cut out the middle man altogether.

"What we settle on here at the end is something that I feel like everybody, Brett Maher, you and me and everyone else could use a reminder of, which is that even if this stuff happens to you, even if you choke, even if you get the yips, even if you're embarrassed, humiliated in front of God country and Stephen a Smith. You are not broken, right? Like this is not something that you need to be cursed by forever. You can fix yourself, so to speak. And it's simple stuff. It's all the skill is still there. And you can fix it quickly. You can learn some voluntary relaxation. You can learn how to check in with yourself and do one thing at a time. You can generate some practice situations that sort of simulate the situation you're going to be in. You can write an external mantra on your hand or on your whiteboard or whatever that you look at when you want to take your prefrontal cortex offline. You can sing David Hasselhoff, right? Like these are pretty simple things that with a little practice works. And so I think the good news here is this is something that not only can be fixed, but can be fixed quickly. In other words, you are here for a reason. Well said David Epstein, thank you for not choking. It's my pleasure. Lucky for you, all of your jokes get edited out. So the world doesn't have to see them. Like Brett Meyer. That would be my tip. Get a staff of producers to make you look and sound better than you actually are. There you go. It's good advice for everybody.

And of course, if that would be not part of IRA, we would ask ourselves, what do we have to do? What kind of investment you would have to do to make that a leadership? All right, that, of course, is the CEO of BMW talking with Ed earlier. You talked with Oliver. What else did you take away from that conversation? Well, that was the weirdest night of my professional life so far and I'm not exactly. So Oliver Oliver zipse is the CEO of BMW BMW is this story German automaker, which is all about manufacturing and efficiency. Last night was bizarre. You had David Hasselhoff in the promo video. You had Arnold Schwarzenegger on stage, and then you had their latest generation of car, D, D, E, digital emotional experience is what it stands for. And basically, BMW is just done a hard pivot. I don't know if you guys have ever driven a BMW, but it's all about performance and handling. And what they demonstrated last night was a vehicle concept where the dashboard has no buttons, okay? No dials. The windscreen is augmented. There's augmented reality display as part of the windscreen. And what BMW is saying is this is where we're going now. We think the experience is different. We're actually going to really double down on software artificial intelligence. And this goes back to what we were talking to. Is this real? Well, BMW says this will be in production cars in 2025. And now I've reminded myself it's 2023. That's only two years away. So this is the kind of change right. These are futuristic things, but the carmakers have got much more real about delivering them into the real world. Wait, wait, wait. If there's no buttons to push, how am I going to fight with my family over the temperature in the car and like what music to play? Come on, that's no fun. So the technology is quite simple and that's easy for me to say. It's not simple at all, of course. It's a voice assistant where you make commands via voice and also

The result of diet and activity. Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system. It's 11 times the diameter of earth and more massive than all the other planets combined. Jupiter grew so large because it was born far from the sun. At that distance, it was cold enough for the planet's growing center to incorporate a lot of ice in addition to rock, so it grew big and heavy. And that gave it a strong gravitational pull. Jupiter used that gravity to suck in a lot of hydrogen and helium gas that were left over from the birth of the sun. Gas that wasn't available closer to the sun. Hydrogen and helium are the lightest of all chemical elements. So while they help make Jupiter

So she was like, you know, she was burning out. But here's the thing. It's about making a mark. It's about making an impression and taking this moment and making it whatever 15 minutes she can parlay it into. So again, to your point, if you know you're not gonna win, then how do I finesse? Exactly. But you can back me up on this. Okay. There are people who walk on reality shows and they know they're gonna be the villain. And there are people who just walk up to you and you're like, oh, you're gonna be the villain. I can smell it. I can see people who don't even know they're the villains. You know one of the things that i've learned in this industry and before i wanted to design part and i wanted to be knowledgeable as well designed before i got into it and you know i got offers before collections. And it wasn't right for me in my time in my life. I wanted to make sure that i was able to really be knowledgeable about designing. It had every day behind the pattern works the fabrics with everything. And so when i'm gone into it was lv. Yeah i was there designing it for eight months of the uk and it was like my baby. Because i wanted to make sure. We really capitalized on sizes the size within the size when i mean by that is that there's so many different size sixteen around the world right. Somebody can have bigger arms but a smaller chest or they could be a beautiful carrying it on their heads but then have smaller arms. I wanted to be able to still get the aylard piece so in order to do that. We had four or five different. You know curve fit models come in that were a size sixteen so i was able to make sure that i was tailoring the pieces to fit all sizes within a size so that it wasn't just tantalizing on one figure that may fit this one side but really making sure that that amplified the beauty and all of us. That's awesome awesome. And what is your ultimate goal with your career and brand because you can go in so many different directions. You're so talented. But what is your ultimate go. You know my ultimate goal is to get back onto a really great tv series and and really get back into action because that's where my heart and my love as but We've got some mazing projects that are coming out. But i think my ultimate goal envisioned as being doing my own tv series and you know being in my trailer collection and champion body positivity till the day to day i go you know. I think that that what we forget about. This industry is Here ever-evolving being so the conversation around body positivity in the conversation around self ownership itself is always going to be there and always going to be changing and i wanna be able to continue to concrete and make people feel comfortable with this idea around loving who they are today and also knowing that loving who they are exuding how they're going to love who they are tomorrow And so there's so many amazing things on the rise in for me when it comes to what i want to accomplish but the conversations that i want to really be able to make stand in. This grade is size. Inclusivity body positivity and mental health awareness. And those are three things that i will always project into anything that i do. I do a lot of different hats when it comes to what i do in the fashion roles whether it be hosting or writing but i wanna make sure that i projected back to the bigger movement and really helping is give it a space for the ones. That necessarily don't feel like they're welcome to because they are welcomed. And not exactly what you do. And i just i thank you very much for this podcast. And for all the do for for the plus action unity. Thank you thank you so much and do you have anything else happening that we can be on the lookout for that. You can talk about or anything that i didn't touch on that you want to.

"2537 It's 8 19 talking entertainment news that Dean Richards, by the way, Dean Over the holiday break. I was forced to watch all three scream movies, cheese, and I guess they made a lot of money. But There's something wrong with me because I I don't know I was bored. Not exactly Constable Income E mean, I like the fact that they kind of poke fun at the genre and you know it zero to me, it's It's sort of like something for everyone. I'm not going to call him bad movies. I'm gonna, uh it's not really for me. Sounds like it's not really for you, but for a lot of people, it's a couple of hours of escape. And, you know, just Something to take their mind off their lives a little bit. You know, I just They're different from the Wonder Woman movie, but I've been getting so much reaction. To my review of the Wonder Woman movie, which was good people saying, Oh, there, you know, but it was boring. It was there. You know, the all negative things about it. And you know my response to that is I hold movies like that to a completely different Kind of standard. It's a popcorn movie. It's a superhero movie have to and you know, Same with scream. It's It is what it is it zero. It's not Anything we're going to be discussing in film class? Well, they did get some good people to sign up to be in those movies, didn't they? I think because they wanted to be part of the spoof. You know of the whole thing. I think they're working on the fifth one now. No kidding. I believe so. So are you missed number four. You can fill me in on the baby over the ground. Hog's day holiday chuckling at the Grammys are off for now. What's the latest on that they because the covert 19 is so unbelievably rampant in the Los Angeles area. Right now. The Grammys were going to take place right around the end of January. But now they have decided to push it back to March. 14th. Out of complete precaution, hoping that the numbers are going to go down between now and then. It's caused a problem because all the movie award shows Are usually right around that time in the Screen Actors Guild Award is scheduled to be on the night of March 14th. So that would be two major award shows going on at the same time if they go on as scheduled. Like that. But for now, the Grammys air being put off the Academy Awards aren't happening until April and in just everything is completely up in the air this year and and may get delayed even more. Depending on what happens with co VID in Southern California. But the David Hasselhoff auction went on as scheduled. How this is exciting. This is good news. Because this is still going on. You can still get in on this. David Hasselhoff is selling off a lot of personal memorabilia. Little action size figurines of David Hasselhoff from Baywatch Little little cars from Knight Rider, but David Hasselhoff Always had in his possession, a personal kit car. You know the car that was used on the TV show Night writer. I think it was a Firebird, you know, souped up Firebird. This car that could talk and had all kinds of high tech tools on it and could drive itself. You know, essentially what we call today, A Tesla Eyes up for auction and it'll be up for auction until January. The 23rd the current bid on this car is on Lee $375,000. And if the if the bid hits a certain plateau, Hasselhoff will personally deliver the car to you himself. Good that seems like that's worth it. That would be worth the price of all by itself. I was watching some, You know, some old clips of Nice. Right or not. I'm watching the show and watching. You know what kid the car could do. And thinking to myself. Well, most cars can do these things now not necessarily drive themselves. But you can pretty much talk to the car and tell the car what you wanted to do and what station to turn to. And you know all those kinds of things. Remember when when the cars started talking to you when they first had those Warnings that were voiced by usually a female voice. Your lights are you left the lights on. I was watching untold Johnny Carson show an antenna TV the other night, And it was the first time Eddie Murphy ever appeared on the Carson show, and he did a stand up and I I swear it is still as funny as the day he did it. It's not dated at all. One of the things he did was a bit on the voice in his car and how I was talking to you. And then of course, he went into how most cars uh sound. For example, When you do leave your light side, that pleasant female voice would come on and say your lights are on your lights around. And then he did it with the black voice. You know how it would, Yeah. On and it was really, really funny. A friend of mine's mom when, when my friend got a car that had all that and also GPS, you know the like the map that tells you where to turn and All this and that the mom thought the car was haunted. It's like Who's that? What does what does she want you to do now? Eddie Murphy doing this isn't right. I mean, I can't do it Justice, but it was getting along the lines of Hey, sucker, you blind You like this till Now You're deaf, too. You can't hear me. And finally, we have something in the new music department for you this morning. This actually This is a video that's worth looking for today. It's on YouTube. Breaking Beauty Podcast
Building Confidence with Jonathan Van Ness
"Hello jonathan so. I'm a huge fan of queer eye and of yours personally because you're radiating joey all over the place whether it's watching you learn to figure skate on i g or your daily morning coffee boogie you. I really just love all of your content And virtually officiating a wedding. That was also very cool during quarantine so cool so we're really honored to have you on breaking beauty. Podcast tell us from your perspective like what is self confidence. What does it look like. And why is it important. Pay attention to. Oh that's a really good question. I think for me. Self confidence is so important because it will competence is like one of the central tenets of self of like being centered self and what that means is in the therapy that i've done so much of is like we wanna be self led like my idea. Being sulfide is like the person that like. Even if i'm late or things of kind of gone awry like i can still be calm. I'm not reactive inaugurated you know. You're centered selfish. Very like calm clear compassionate courageous. It's like really like the best version of yourself and so confidence is part of that in so when you feel confident that's like a really good indicator for me when i feel confidence a really good indicator for me that my centered south. I miss. i'm not in an a people pleasing my personality. I'm not in a irritated part of my personality. I'm not in like a overly work mode part of my personality. I'm like you know self-led fled so accurately talks about that. There's a lot of people in virtual eaters and spiritual thinkers who think who talk about being selfless. So confidence is such a big piece of that. But i think the thing that people miss the most often about confidence and i know that for myself i did too is that you can be competent and you can have a part of you. That feels really confident about something but then also really insecure about something else and can happen at the same time There's parts of you that feel confident but then there's other parts that you know are insecure about certain things and so the trick is is wet part of yourself. Can you identify with. Can you hear from that part. That might wanna change something or maybe doesn't like something about yourself and say look i hear you like i get it. I understand why you might feel that way about yourself. This is like you talking to yourself. Maybe we got those ideas from society or like something. That doesn't really feel organic to us. Like while i hear what you're saying i need to get in the back seat because actually centered. South is here. And we're not going to be berating ourselves today about that like expectation of beauty that we know that part of me has for how it's supposed to him kind of china mores in it by with this parliament industrial confidence about you know my heart may essence. What i do for my friends what i do for me. The only or feels like super confident about my face. I have i will say this. Maybe i am maybe really competent. But my face is like one thing. I've never been self conscious about like. I've always thought like a really pretty face like i've cobblers. I like i've always been like work. There's other so. I always looks like something. You feel competent. It doesn't mean physical thing it can be a piece of who you are and then just tried to identify with that. Because i think there's anyone who feels completely competent about everything all the time every single thing. Yeah i read in your bio that from a really young age like forever. You were out and i and i think about back then like what gives you the confidence to express your authentic self. Even from a young age. I say the include ryan episodes of like you know there really was like i could really be in a closet if you had like is in ears like if you were in my presence. You were very much like okay. Like i was fully fluid in nancy. Kerrigan kristi yamaguchi oxana by all geos zodiac sign. I also knew about everything about the electoral college in the presidential election of nineteen ninety-two. I really wanted to talk about i. Thought ross perot is actually. When i understood. I understood like the words. I didn't understand the politics of his leaks. I was i was really engaged in the world around me also just extremely feminine and i wanted to wear tights that i wanted to her off the shoulder. Things and i wanted to like run up to my dad's best friends like push them in runaway. Be like it was just exactly how i am now but if i do is coming out of the closet officially linked answering yes to the question of our i was getting asked if i was gade called gay and like just was asked to from such a young age that i think by the time it was like in sixth grade. It was like by fifth grade already done. I'm buying and pamela anderson's. I watch being watch like i you know but really it was david hasselhoff that i get enough up. He was such treatment in the nineties. Yeah until he started rapping. Of course you started rapping. Did i miss a diva rap. I'm pretty sure he was a big rapper.
