What Is Going on in El Salvador?

"Going on in El Salvador El Salvador's out of country we talk about a lot, unfortunately, the only reason we usually talk about El Salvador is the criminals that are coming from El Salvador that are coming into our country, but El Salvador is deciding to take things into their own hands. El Salvador borders the north Pacific Ocean. It is obviously in Central America, borders Honduras and Guatemala. And it's a small country, all things being equal, but it's also a very violent country. In fact, unfortunately, El Salvador, most Americans, if they were to think of El Salvador, they would think of El Salvador as being a violent, a viciously violent gang infested country. But I think this is worthy of noting of how El Salvador has decided to take things into their own hands and be leaders. So the new president of El Salvador, in fact, I don't know if he's new. I just think he's good. I don't know how long he's been in office. We'll find out in a second. President bukele has decided to embark on an ambitious new project. As soon as I saw this news story, I thought of a very specific Hollywood reference, of course I thought of Harvey dent in The Dark Knight where you just arrest like 2000 gangbangers at once. He's been president since 2019. So apparently he's been working on this for some time. Let's go to cut 60 Jesse watters who reports on El Salvador's new president moving gang members to do to a new mass mega prison. And is the country safer? Not only is it safer, but crime in El Salvador has dropped so dramatically there has not been a murder in the whole country in a week. What a concept

"We know that a vibrant economy needs a healthy democracy. So we asked both Tim Michaels and governor Evers directly. Whether they'd accepted the 2020 election results. Whether they'd respect your vote, even if it doesn't go their way. Whether they pledge to certify our state's 2024 vote. And if they would let the unbiased elections commission do its work without partisan attacks. At a time when the threats to the sanctity of the vote are as dangerous as ever, Tim Michaels refusal is wrong. I'm voting for governor Evers because I'm voting for a democracy. I'm voting for governor Evers. And unfortunately, governor Evers won because I'm voting for a democracy. $200 billion. On that line of messaging. One, after the other, after the other. So what does this man want? He wants something completely different than you and I. There's a scene in Batman. Or the Joker says, I don't know if it's a joke or might have been Harvey dent. Where he says some people just want to watch the world burn. As I said, a political pyromaniac. Now, who was the second biggest political donor? It's a Democrat donor. Not political. Who is the second biggest Democrat donor? Sam bankman freed. So you have 200 $1 million from a foreign born billionaire that says he doesn't believe in God and if there was a God it would be him and the second largest political donor deployed tens of millions of dollars nearly $50 million of stolen deposits from working class people in a cryptocurrency exchange. So you have a currency speculating vampire and a cryptocurrency fraudster that tabulated about 250 $1 million this midterm election cycle. So those ads that you saw nonstop carry Lake is too extreme. Stacey Abrams, the best thing ever. Some of them work some of them didn't. Like you saw that Evers one that ever is one worked. Nonstop, 250 million, a quarter of a billion. Was from Soros and freed two people. Both of which should be in prison, one of them has a higher likelihood than the other, but I'm not going to make any predictions about bankman freed's future. I have no idea. But he is a thief. Your midterm election cycle. Not yours, but the midterms that we cared so much about was manipulated and purchased by two let's just say very questionable, morally questionable people..

I always have just my hips more than anything. Because my hips are always super type. Yeah i mean. I go light with my lifts nowadays like i don't go heavy anymore just realized a long time ago. It's not worth it to being a thousand pound club. I'd rather have orm and do more reps than fewer reps. Have your way. But that's just my my mentality especially just like. There's no via trust at the gym despite me. And my gyms in idiot everybody sucks about me Nothing really super crazy. I watched a nightmare before christmas for the first time. I haven't seen it either. I'm not really big into claymation. Never really have been it's good It's not directed by tim burton. It's written and produced at least produced by tim burton. So it's technically tim burton's a nightmare before christmas but he didn't direct it and ashley's a huge tim burton fan. She probably her favorite director. She seen every one of his movies except for batman in nineteen eighty nine. She bought watch that one. I don't blame her. it's actually. It's actually very fun. All batman is nineteen eighty-nine with michael. Keaton and jack. Nicholson as the joker and billy dee williams as Harvey dent. it's awesome but it's It's an interesting timeframe for batman but a a a nightmare before christmas is is actually very good. I think i. I haven't published my review.

"That batman has like in his not only in his abilities but in his whole mystique he really is built up by this point to be very symbolic right and so if you're carrying that kind of power it's really easy. I'm glad they didn't make be like okay. He he's the superman route. Where it's like okay. Well i've used you to justify i've used you get as a means to an end. But now that i've used to justice has to be weighed upon. You know it's not the way it works. And i like that right at the end of the day. He's like okay. You were a means to an end and we'll let it be at that right. You know what. I mean at the end of the day first. I think i said this last time on. We talked about the first Movie but it blows me away at how how much. Christopher nolan drew from the story for the dark knight trilogy. Basically like batman begins dark knight and What's the third one. Dark knight rises definitely with the dark knight. He drew from the story. Big time yeah heavily. Harvey dent story. Yeah it's a whole harvey dent story and a lot of things that he does and Even in third movie when he's dealing with cat woman you know a lot of that is pulling from this Look we don't talk about the third movie. I don't mind it. It's fine but anyway at the end of the day. I look at these movies to see what kind of representation. They have from the comic book. Because i feel like if you're going to create an animated movie based off of the comic book that they are doing dc says we're making an animated movie based off the comic book of jeff loeb's like all on halloween. Okay well. I wanna see that book in live action. You're i mean in animated action. You know. I wanna see that represented to me on the screen. I feel like they did a very good job at that. I think it did it. I think it's it brought that book to life for me. I've read that book so many times. And i've had a love for it forever and i think it did a really good job of it and i have no problem with the movie whatsoever. So if you have ever read the comic book i would say absolutely. Watch us movie. You will enjoy if you've never read the comic book. Whatever watch this movie you enjoy ought to have read you tell you. Don't you don't need to. I'm just saying if you have read it and had reservations about the movie. Don't go see it or watch it if you don't want to read and are incredibly lazy and can't flip pages have a mind of your own..

Bold three five g. is phone and a tablet and one. It's also two screens in one. So they can be your office game room and movie theater. The big beautiful strain and side by side of select apps. Let you chat stream work and game do it all at the same time. Get the new galaxy. Full three five g. at samsung dot com shelter. Everyone how to live this life. I've connection and availability may vary check with carrier. Oh okay here's the i. I liked this movie. I a good time with this movie. Even though i think this movie if i sat down with a piece of notebook paper and chronicled its shortcomings. I would have to use both sides of the paper and yet adds fun and i also feel like a lot of the trepidation. That people hit me with when they were like. Oh you know. I've seen it in advance for this. Or i saw have you seen it yet. A lot of trepidation to me. At least it was a little overstated will lose sort of immediate experience with this movie. I mean i i. Don't i mean at the movie was fine. I don't. I don't think that it was like i don't think that like i said i wasn't i. I wasn't affected by like any of the fa at like i didn't get totally sucked into it. Like i still was the surface of it. Like looking at things like that's a little off or whatever until like it picks up momentum around Like once you just start like once. He accepts back. like nobody. Just notices this disgusting necrotizing garage growing from his hand all the way up his neck Like i mean his his girlfriend nobody. He sees on a daily basis. Not the are curation That the head of the the gallery or anybody dealer. Yeah he's like it. Takes his own mother a whole conversation to notice that his half of his face looks like harvey dent. You know it just looks mealy at gross. He just kind of like all right. Well i guess you know. Yeah sure whatever he okay. That's suspicious disbelief issue. I take that I like the main sort of twisted approach. Ray if okay the original candyman yet his white lady runaround cabrini-green and this movie you know as you fast forward to president. Cabrini green has been demolished. Redeveloped a redeveloped around and instead the characters in this movie are largely black. And they're very boozy bank. They had i think actually the beginning of the is really good at setting the stage of like. Oh these are. These are the boozy burbach. They're white friend. Who i thought was my man little dicky the white news. I thought it was little big. I'm sorry i thought. I thought i i was just saying okay. All right well but no. It wasn't like it was it was a. I don't know what his neighbors why we ought to be ignorant on a pike l. department Yeah i don't know. I really like this. This setup right he's like okay. The original movies about they live in like high ceiling departments in. Yeah they've a they they have these the bear they're people. They're artists living loss. Artists and art collectors living offs. You know i'd like. I'd like to how much of the dialogue in the early. Interactions were spent on the different types of wine that they stocked in the house. Scotto was dessert. wine yet and you have. Are you have our heroic artist. Anti right who turns out to have a connection to the bean events of the original candyman. But anthony is a tortured artistes. He's trying to get his art displayed in gallery displayed and reviewed in galleries around chicago. He's at zack's exhibitions. He takes his art to the white guy. Who's like look you art. Your art is low. Y you becoming a little stale when you gotta get us some. Some ham fisted social justice pieces in here that i can sort of speak clueless leeann condescendingly about they have some conversations about white supremacy her cetera And then that's what anthony starts looking into the mythology of candyman he's mostly looking into it right as Artistic inspiration right he said like ooh i don't know a lot about cabrini-green let me go and some photos. Let me see if i can. You know what i mean. I think there's one conversation where he's talking to the the art dealer in in anthony's from the south side right and the art dealer tells them look south is played out. I'm not gonna lie. We all listen to chief. Kief fashion is over ray. He's being really condescending He's like well you know. Maybe i could do something about cabrini-green. And that's where he goes. And he's in these empty project buildings and then he runs into creepy bad at the laundromat. Who starts talking in coleman bingo. Every single one of his face muscles guy is is crazy. Like how how his mouth is moving. Good i mean like really is more so like his face as kind of begins to spasm as the as the movie goes on because i mean he seems very you know paternal and sage like in the beginning telling our hero as an e about the About the legend of katie man. Who he knew to be just like a mentally disabled man that just happened to have a hook for a hand was pascal candidate children and so mhm white girl quote unquote in the with razor and one of her candies and the cops came You know looking around and they beat him to this again. I think that's one of the points people cringe at and they go the doing this. Ham-fisted police you know racial profiling narrative in the movie. And.

And it's reminds me of one of the greatest works of art done in my life. I could see a whole class. Do you think conor isabel and connor. Do you think people would like it. If i did a class on the philosophy behind the dark dark night. I have a whole. I got a whole thing on this. It is a beautiful film. And if you if you watch our show listen to our show carefully. There's lots of little references to the dark knight. Almost every single podcast said by the way and the reason why it's so good is because it is the tension of good versus evil and the dark knight explains it in variety. Different ways the whole harvey dent descent into madness. Go knowing nothing but chance anyway. That's a whole different topic for this time. But there is a senior dark knight that reminds me of off. Ashraf ghani or the joker is surrounded by a bunch of hoodlums thugs. And they're all trying to say. How do we get the batman and joker points to the screen because they all want to give their money to a chinese criminal. This oh yeah. This guy will protect us. And the joker. Says i know us wheeler when i see one and that is a square. You think the batman won't go and find him and it reminds me of ashraf ghani as soon as i saw his face. "He's just ugly. Face right there in that if i ever wrote that character again in and had a chance to play it out that would be appointed discussion with an editor of. What can we do there. Because if you're not playing both sides of the coin it's just a bad guy a bad bad bad guy who occasionally right who occasionally flips the coin at comes up clean and he walks away from the situation instead of executing every and is that that interesting just like again is batman that interesting if all the is is the grim avenger I don't think so because when he got to work with you play the note once and then you just keep plinking at that. Make believe piano behind you. You know again and again and again of just hitting the same the same note and as a writer Or you look for those moments you drought. And that's what i look for here. That's going back and saying okay. What do i know about these guys. And how do i start to draw the little bits and pieces of who they can be and what they can do. I mean there to be big interest in harvey dent lately. I mean they did like a two party. Animated adaptation of that man in the long halloween. It's right i was that it was good. I i mean little. I'm urging support twos almost ninety minutes. I mean i enjoyed that. I think sometimes during animated steps short. But i mean some. I thought it was one of their best animated things in a long time. Okay check out to dig into that too. It's over two hours so together okay. i just wanted to mention. I don't know how hard it was. We would have alyssa writer writing batman in their early taste so much restraint not to like Fight for at least four pages long but now off the whole thing. Kind of juliet cowan style. The urges paycheck come on low. Got to do like two to forty eight page issues. Then i could have done the first one just all fight. Then the second one work at work through their more i would have been all scott mccamley hindsight. You're going to pick on solid story. thank you. that's that's i will. I will take that. And i will agree with that. Pickings nitpicking z. Right then that's the editor me coming out saying. Go back and change it you know. Wait a camp but yeah definitely if you're a daredevil or batman fan or both yeah definitely breed if you can pick this up pick it up his balance like sometimes we read this like. What was that last ethic. Other guy came out on top. Didn't they didn't they do. And i haven't read them. Didn't they. do like two or three others to other batman daredevil. They came they did at least one more years after this. I know yeah. Yeah and how does that..

"Does now anyway a little bit. It's good. it's good motivation than connection. But i think it could have been handled a little bit more in that way so He does it's easy to pick the stuff apart But there's things that work the whole harvey dent. You know matt murdock. Thing is is is gain. I think the turn at the end were dent. You know sort of struggles with that. Reminder from daredevil works really well. I think Dense insults that manner or good. You got them irritating Arrogating this you know. Look identifies the rodents in the room. there's but These are the things you discover along the way probably could use the third or fourth draft To get to really the right place. But that's beyond the fact that this point now like i said i enjoy. I really enjoyed the story I'm sure it was probably it probably wasn't mandate the page count. Because i was like man i could. He's more of this. Oh yeah the page count was just what it was. That's tough right but you need to. But that's when you need to. Yeah the you need to think about on what kind of store you're trying to tell. Forty pages was is that this forty eight county. That's over twice. The length of the typical comic was effluent. So that's that's good breathing room but man you could fill up forty pages easy. Oh yeah i mean. You're doing a batman daredevil. It's like how often does this happen. You probably want to stretch your legs zena. But that's also why again it's hindsight going back on. Complicating the problem in in in saying i've only got forty eight pages only got forty payton's bigger quotes for those listening. That still control up really quickly. So uncomplicate your situations you can let them breathe more in a more hopefully mature in better writer than i was then so as easy for me to pick on that guy. You know with thinking doing that. I probably would have said now just to face alone right again. Could've could've been a good somebody to play off the two sides of Batman more right even though hilas look you're saying before. Oh it's just daredevil. Without money. I mean as far as batman without money and certainly one point murdoch had money right had house. Who's a lot more in that that. Let's just keep recreating the millionaire playboy. Vigilante type mole but but that would have been probably an interesting thing. Maybe maybe the whole story was more from from two faces. Point of view to face playing off the light issue darkish sides of the characters in the coin with some kind of you know Macguffin or rationalization. I don't even know what it would be. But now i'm thinking about that injustice. We're talking and saying. Wow that would have been an interesting story and maybe the whole faces point of view for that fast. A and could have been an interesting thing. Maybe i'll call you know tom awesome. Say them you know. Mattie baddies whole final jetsons versus you know all all highly against rehabilitation here the of turn but but that was but that's also little bits of the characters right. You know it's in a dent was willing to play with the rules. A little bit and murdoch was always there either on the matter the off the mat. Aren't exactly yeah. You know he's a. He's a complicated character. But i know you written a little batman but did you enjoy writing batman. I'm do you have a bat. "Wait there's more seasonable the same show with the animation changes and just my. I couldn't do it. And i tried fair enough and you know this. The show was a incredibly popular because people just love seeing a batman show. It was like the critics loved it. They absolutely loved the art style. It had a very art deco theme going for it like nobody had done batman like this before because it wasn't just focusing on batman. You had you know commissioner gordon. You had harvey bullock renee montoya. You had Harvey dent both before. And after you had joker you had your a lesser known villains like klay face showed up in the animated series and forget he still. Yeah i mean like. He's not a list. Mr freeze penguin all those. But you also had people like you know scarecrow and mad hatter my favorite version mad hatter and the animated series but then he decided you know what it's popular. We should make a movie and it was originally going to be direct to video. But warner brothers was like now. Let's push it to theaters which to me like. That's really surprising. It is surprising but the fact that it was the first deatrich feature produced by warner brothers. Animation directly was pretty cool it because they moved to theaters. it had a time crunch. Yeah and they had to condense everything into an eight month schedule. Essentially eight months schedule. That is not enough time to make it a movie and do it. But you shouldn't have. They made this in eight months and they did a good job. I mean they were able to use animation. They already had all the characters designed from the show. I'm sure that help but still to have to create entire movie plot and directed eight months. That's a lot. Yeah it's it's impressive and This was released on christmas day. Nineteen ninety three. So this was the warner brothers. The big push because there's always big movies that are released around the christmas time. And this was warner brothers. Big hit for ninety three and it paid off. Kinda i mean it. Didn't it did not make back. Its budget theaters got coastal. The budget was six million. It made box off. Five point eight million but i know when i went went to. Dvd dvd's vhs sales. That's when it made back. Its budget and did really well. I'll say i saw in the theater. Think twice when it was up in its original run. And i bought the vhs first day it was outta came in a nice clam shell case. I loved it. It was great. Okay i do kinda remember those clam show releases of vhs tapes. But it's been so long since. I've held a vhs tape. I still have a nice collection of them..

Same exact occurrence. Fook you harvey date. Here's some acid. Yeah and like this. That's like the the one. I do really love his origin in the dark knight movie Because like it has so many fucking implications but if they could have done it in the courthouse would have been extremely powerful anyways. "Here to fight for truth and justice american people in this room which one is wearing spangled and be not of you got math. Pretty sure he doesn't dress. That man has saw. I watched this episode this this last. He's anti here. He's not that he's spanning. No righty well. Let's just start initial thoughts of the movie. Well okay will include both parts initial thoughts of the overarching batman. Long hallway go. I'd say i think it was an interesting good story over all over all around Yeah i think it felt more like a detective film than anything else. And it was a good change of pace. I feel like most batman movies. They try to an interesting feeling like a superhero movie. This felt like a detective. Slash mob film the whole way through even with poison ivy showing up or yeah or or mad hatter whatever it still felt like a good detective film i liked it. I enjoyed it. I look felt like the pace in the second half was similar to the the pacing in the first half and i was hoping that would pick up a little bit and get a little bit more. That's fair action driven by the story. You're right they're just swallowed wrong. All right this story overall was fantastic. The development of batman which is really what this this story is about. It's about kind of introducing rogues gallery or bruno's in it. Did i get that right. The rose gallery. I'm so proud of myself. I've learned something through this guy and then allowing him to deal with the transition from of harvey dent to to face And everything else..

"David esquire goiter. Recently sat down gave an interview and talked about such things as stupid executive studio notes that he's received in this time and what he said was the all time stupidest one was when he was working on man of steel and executive gave him the note. That if superman destroys the pod that he flew in from krypton to the earth than he would be unable to return to krypton if he ever wanted to and he was still to change this. Because what if superman one day decided to visit the blended of his birth Describes the interaction as hearing it to a long pause and then responding with crip don blew up. We had twenty minutes of that in the movie. Which really just goes to show you again. That studio executives are kind of useless when it comes to making movie but gore would also talk about other topics such as the original plan to have the joker in the third batman installment as when they were outlining trilogy originally they were making preliminary plans that if it was to evolve into three different movies that they would have the joker on trial for his crimes in the knight and this was originally going to be the point where he turned harvey dent into face but as we all know that event took place within the second movie in heath ledgers real life passing remove the possibility of that character appearing in the third film and as tribute to letters performing. They did not even mention the character of the joker in the dark knight rises but proudly the real money quote of his interview was how he talked about. How the c. You was never able to catch up to the mc you detective comics is attempt at a shared. Cinematic universe was kicked off in twenty thirteen with the release of zack snyder's man of steel for which goya wrote the screenplay antique credits the main reason for them being unable to catch up to the success of marvel was because of leadership he said that there was always stable leadership marvel whereas when it came to dc there were many changes in terms of who was running the company from year to year. He would also speak to an issue that had long been criticized about dc films. Have they all sort of have the overly bleak brooding tone to them that many people associated with the studio trying to just recreate the feel that christopher nolan had created within his films regardless on whether or not amid sense and while man of steel is a fairly good film. it was criticized for superman. Who is supposed to embody truth than justice and have an optimistic on the world being put in a movie environment where it's very depressing and visually leak and goya said that when marvel would make a movie adaptation of one of their beloved characters it was true to the source material ant man felt like ant man and the hulk felt like the hulk so ultimately the reason for the e..

"Hello everyone and welcome back into the gsm see movie podcast for our fourth end final segment. We are brought to you by the gsm. See podcast network. I'm your host rich mcdonagh and in last segment. I just finished talking about the netflix film. Fear street part three sixteen sixty six. Which is the third installment of their fear street trilogy. That was made all at the same time and each film has been released on the streaming platform in the last three weeks. All three of these movies take place in the same town where bizarre things happen. Only they take place during a different time in the town's history but they all share the similarity of taking place while various supernatural and gory things are happening. The rationale behind these events all date back to sixteen sixty six where a witch cast a spell on the town before she herself was killed for practicing witchcraft. And as you can probably guess by the movie's title this one on ravel's the mystery by taking us back to sixteen sixty six to show the audience. How all of this began. And if there is a chance of undoing the witchcraft these three films are adapted from the books by our elstein and if they are a success on net flicks you can expect to see a lot more of them because there have been over a hundred of them written so if you are interested in taking a look at a trilogy that was filmed all at the same time. They sure to check out the fear street movies on netflix. And you can catch the third installment fear street art three sixteen sixty six starting july sixteenth. Isn't that fun how they did that. But moving on from how they managed to time that movie out to be released on the sixteenth. We are going to commemorate film that was released on july eighteenth all the way back in two thousand eight and that is the legendary film the dark knight and i know there have already been a lot of internet nerds before myself. That have dissected this movie and made video essays analysis as well as other dissections but none of them were me so it is my turn to talk about the dark knight. If you enjoy this movie feel free to stick around if not go suckle lemon and without further ado let us get into it as movie of course. It is directed by christopher nolan and he himself has cited the michael mann film heat as the primary influence for this film style and there are definitely parallels between the two films he is revolving a team of bank robbers trying to cash in on big scores and the opening scene of the dark knight is literally a bank robbery. We see crew of low time criminals in clown masks attempting to rob a bank and throughout the opening scene. They're all picked off one by one by their fellow bank robbers because this was the instructions they were given this scene. Not only sucks you into the action right away. But it is a perfect introduction to the joker who is secretly one of the bank robbers and the last man standing. But when you take a second look at the components that go into the bank robbery and the plant itself it is rife with the jokers mentality. He expects that people will turn on each other if it is within their own. Self interest is crazy enough to try to rob a mafia bank showing you just how unhinged is and despite the audience being shown one thing in terms of what the plan actually is. What you see is never what you get because just like in cards. The joker is wild and you cannot anticipate what he is going to do. So that is how the film kicked off and it is really established that this is the jokers movie despite being named the dark knight and movies supposedly starring batman. But a little bit more on the joker later. We are going to talk about the three men that really make up the driving force behind this film. And those are the characters of batman harvey dent and commissioner. Gordon played by christian. Bale aaron eckhart and gary oldman respectively these three men align because they all have the same goal and that is clean up the city of gotham and it's crime and the three of them kind of make up a spectrum of how to deal with this harvey dent is the idyllic white knight. That is trying to do it. Through enforcing the law and playing by the rules. Commissioner gordon is his certainly doing his best to stay within law but as he's been on the police force for a very long time and seen a lot of stuff he knows that you kind of have to bend the rules and sometimes get your hands dirty in order to get results. This more than anything is what causes him to have a relationship with christian bale's batman. Who is a proponent of vigilante justice. He believes that the only way that he can overcome crime is by fighting fire with fire and living outside the law so he can enforce it now. The relationship between these three characters is incredibly pivotal to the plot asia. Their own part to play and they're all put to the test in one way or another during the film and possibly the most cinematic moment of the film comes when the three of them are together on the roof of major crimes unit. Discussing how it should proceed in their war against the mob. It is shot absolutely beautifully beginning as long tracking shot and it begins to revolve around the three men to illustrate the disorienting situation. That they found themselves in. Not only that but with this camera movement the person who gains the upper hand in the argument is able to find their way to the center of the frame and not only that but we are probably given the best example in this film of the dual nature that exists within harvey dent long before he becomes two face throughout the scene. Half his face is covered in shadow. And when he turns to commissioner gordon in order to say that he is willing to take the risks that come with these actions is faces incredibly well lit and he looks like a politician giving a speech on television but then he turns back to batman in order to discuss the illegal ways they are going to capture money. Launderer and his face is plunged into shadow. Now i think this is the best example of that technique used in this film. But if you go back and watch the movie you will see throughout the entire film. There are a ton of examples of aaron eckhart space being partially lit while the other half is covered in shadow as well as a number of times where he himself turns to shot in profile where we are only able to see half of his face and when these things occur you're able to see how they correspond with how he is deviating from the quote unquote white night to someone with a true dark side so throughout the film. They're setting him up to turn into to face and there are so many great parts of this movie that aaron eckhart performance is often overlooked but it is really one of the high points of the film. He said that his character was really supposed to be a representation of robert f kennedy because he wanted to portray a politician that was idealist. Who is really pushing a message of peace and harmony. He definitely did that and his portrayal of harvey dent was amazing as well as the descent into madness. That was the character to face and while there are a lot of things going on in this movie. The real conflict of the film is the fight over. Harvey dent is the law abiding district attorney. That is trying to usher. In a new era of justice. He carries a coin. That has the twin heads of lady. Liberty on it. The character of bruce wayne slash batman is looking at him as someone who can do a better job of fixing gotham than he ever could..

"Should play that man and he doesn't to perfection. Remember running around screening so excited every take that he delivers he he was just he just got it right away. He knew her hair or long. Time to to step into this role and it was. It was a treat to get to go there with him the past so good. I defy you to find somebody in this cast who you wouldn't have as a live action version of the senators now. They are spectacular. Well i as far as i'm concerned i didn't ask movies so i'm happy to heap. Praise on those who brought this cast together including The west recent are cassie. Waste director and the producers team. It's exciting. I hope people people fall in love with this cast. The way that i have was it a challenge to write holiday. Oh yeah that's a. That's a tough man. I mean you've got a central character integral to everything that's happening in the story but is A complete mystery. Yeah and and you know. I i talked to. Some people started this process who who had read the book and read it more than once. Who for whom holiday was still a complete mystery and so it was a challenging thing to go in and say okay. Let's figure out how how to do this in in a way that's really satisfying to to you. Know keep pace with the story and and give people more of an understanding of who holiday and we're holidays coming from. Yeah now the movie. Pg thirteen was there ever any talk about making it at our rating. I don't know that. I just know that i went into it in terms of scripting. The movie thinking you know. I'm just going to be faithful. And what what you know. The chips will where they will and And and whatever rating ends up getting we get hit with close it you know. Part two is rated r You know so. I think that's just a function of the tory story. Remember we when we went in. We did this two movies. I said well what makes sense to me is. The first movie is there. Two sides of the coin. The first movie is beautiful. Beautiful on mars side of the coin. This is the pristine side of the coin and we get to see the system. And and it's it's working but but but the the wheel are coming off. And then part two is very much the marred marked up bad side of the coin it's dirtier it's faster and it makes sense that part to would would would get an r rating versus persons part one pg thirteen. That's just natural to think how the story worse in and and in movie. I it's also good for me. At least for a little while i would think we get to see harvey dent in a more heroic fashion rather than what ends up.

"Any ideas and suggestions and you know there were towed several things it's like well one We'd really like if you guys explored more wood-frame miller did like maybe after the events of year one and that was a a really big influence single. And that's why the long halloween. You know crotch speaking happens around that time. Yeah i mean. I was about a trip over what you were actually. Just going to say right there to where it's like dude. Yeah you totally. Get that vibe. To where batman is. He's no longer young. He's no longer fresh in the game. But this is not the years on years on years of experience. Batman that we've come to know from like other projects we've seen. This is the batman. Who's are i know the streets. I got the great tech. I know how to fight these criminals. But i'm still developing. I still got realize you know how to be a detective. Yeah it feels like like a year three or four type of ordeal as what it seems like. He's been around. Long enough to develop a relationship with gordon and with the gdp. But he's still young enough in the game so that there's lulu thinks he's doing like he's wearing too much in these weighing him down. Cabin even talks about that. And that's something that younger batman did those little things like that. He really be trying to punch his way through a A crime scene or a detective work rather than you know putting his brain more to it. And that's something that commissioner gordon speaks on at one point. Yeah and so like there's little things like you said it's not like they beat you over the head with it but like you get enough. Turn to stand with the going for. And i really appreciate that also a fun fact about about the Original comic book that it was It was mark. Waid there were Writer mark waid who towed Jeff levine tim sale that. Hey if you do in the store that heard about like this kind of batman early on his career that follow up on your one mitch that you include more harvey dent. Because we don't get a lot of harvey pre to face vast. Oh that was good suggestion. Harvey dent came. We trust We can't trust him to be such a great but also integral part as story. And why i love about the movie to is. They're not letting up on that right. Harvey dent still even in their own amalgamation of story still play such a centerpiece for the story. And they don't reveal too much they play with you. Even it's ballsy it's good you know well done guys a really great job bruce timm to help out with the live action movies guys got a deal what are we doing shit i feel like it's a foolproof plan but i've always seen all your shit to many times Shit yeah yes oh just kind of piggybacking. If would you said earlier for the homeless sue. Maybe unfamiliar the longtime we store that tastes place early on in batman career where there is There is this killer Known as the holiday killer because he seems to kill only on holidays and this killer is targeting people who are part of the falcone crime family. There's going to be two parts. That's cool yes. It's very cool very cool. They've only done this one other time with dark knight returns which is again it's another gallon and but in this movie we only went through four holidays and we have another nine more to go so we went through. Let me see if i can remember. Because i saw the movie so i watch. Cnn you were you were gonna watch so we had it started on. Halloween makes sense and then it went to thanksgiving christmas new year. And yes and then it was. It was just over. Yeah that was weird. It was it was robbed. But i like how they just didn't apologize for ending abruptly leaving more for part too. Because that's that's what a two part movie. Does they leave. You wanna cliffhanger more of the rings they don't wrap it up and fellowship of the ring. They have them walking on a mountain and then they just go to black. So let's let's. I'm going to be doing differently. I'm not gonna you know go through every single this movie now. i'm gonna go holiday by holiday accents. Maybe touch on a couple. Things happened in between them so the first begins with halloween. Because lent's the name you know long halloween. Johnny viti was murdered in a bathtub. And a jackal lantern was left behind along with a twenty two pistol with a baby bottle. Cap is a silencer. I thought you would like the caliber and that was given. I looked up the baby bottle thing. It doesn't work but it's cool. It's a cool signature works batman world. Good point eight. does this. This was one heck of a way to open up movie. What were your thoughts on the beginning and how this kind of just set the tone of the movie yeah. It doesn't feel like a superhero movie. That feels like mob like a mob movie. That's high started mom movie it's a it's a murder you know a random murder of one of these high ranking mob. Family members i love. I love that her fun to see the falconi family and the reaction weather from it. And how you know. It was tied into this case. That harvey dent was prosecuting. And they're thinking the falcone's killed this guy that's right it's that scene right. Yeah okay so because there was the scene that with the italian restaurant. So i'm confused as to how that fits into the store. I was just sort of an opening. This is a mob movie. Type gotta have an italian. Like all of a sudden give gets gunned down in italian restaurant. You're like oh my movie okay. That was later on. But i thought that was halloween. That was that was that was thanksgiving. Your member i'm confused. Okay anyway all right. So johnny beady. He's dead but the kony is they don't seem to. They don't seem to know who did it. They're pretty upset and there and immediately you've got like this. This is detective Moon not superman is gonna fly in there and and stop brainiac or or something like i appreciate that you a new zealand. Yes good that was good justice league for the win.
