Obviously the town was shocked. Close-knit everything you'd think of conservative. Leaning as the police started investigating they started putting some of the pieces together. But since the murders happened between county. Lines ruskin greg counties. It meant it was already a contentious investigation. You'd think about an investigation anyway especially at this time. Nineteen eighty-three probably didn't get all the evidence. Maybe not as thorough as they would have liked and so this complicated things even more soon. The texas rangers also be involved appointed by the department of public safety to keep the case. Organiz sensing the tension between the two different counties. Two cousins from tyler. "So frustrating Because many of us have been saying really, since March, we've gotta fix our testing infrastructure. We've got to have the kind of testing capacity when Americans gonna go and get tested and get results right away. The government just hasn't done that in the private sector has been doing its part, but you really need the federal government. Speak of the government s so the FDA there on the precipice of reading the first rapid test that could be the point at home. Now, there have been some non improved versions, and the FDA is like no stay away from those things. If you find him online, there's actually won. The FDA is in the final approval stages for that you would be able to do right there at home yourself. I think that would go a long way. Of course, we continue to have The rapid tests making their way into south border. The school's We've had nursing care facilities going back about a month ago, the state of Florida continuing to get about 440,000 per week of those Abbott rapid test, and as those continue flowing that contained a flood of more people, that's helpful as well. But you know what else? Could be helpful. Good hygiene everywhere. And I got to tell you, um In the grand scheme of my corks when it comes to hygiene. Bathrooms are realized analyst there few places that potentially can scare me more than a public bathroom. Jim Ryan. ABC News is here to tell us about One of the ancillary positives that might come on the hygiene front from the pandemic. And that is Jim. We we kind of talked about everything, maybe advancing five or 10 years that was already in motion. Tell us about the smart bathroom. Well, right, and you've probably seen I think everybody has to walk into a men's or women's room and in an airport or a sports venues, I think, put your hand on the positive. The water starts flowing by itself turned to the side and and the dispenser spits out paper towel or starts blowing on your hands trying to drive him unsuccessfully. Usually I might add, but that's been going on for some time. But it's big advance now in a different way because of covert 19. The goal is to try to keep people from Touching surfaces and to keep the social distance from each other. And so the new technology in the trade magazines in the aviation industry or are going crazy about this stuff, airports and by the way, Surveys done by those people indicate that most people like you, they want to clean restrooms, so passengers rank that high on their list. So if they have a good experience there, then they'll have a good overall experience in the airport itself. So The technology. The new technology is kind of interesting. For example, there will be a screen a video screen outside the restaurant to tell you how many installs air available how much space is available, whether there's a line so that if you continue no choose to go to a different location. If there is a line that way, you're not bunched up against other people. Now they're also will be. And in fact, at DFW Airport where I am little lights above the stalls, red or green, red occupied, beat green means vacant. So that you're not needlessly touching a door handle or something when you go inside there, So yeah, that zit has advanced the technology, the state of the art if you will in bathroom sanitation. My heart sings. This is all very exciting. So what? Houston is the first study that is, uh, the early adopter told this new technology. Well, they started off with some of these kinds of things. Both airports in Houston, Bush Intercontinental and Hobby Airport on the south End of town have adopted a lot of these technologies. They're being praised by the industry. DFW here is adopting these things. Atlanta Jackson. Hartsfield also is moving in that direction, so you know, it's that place is busy, for example, is Miami and Orlando for heaven's sake. Assume any kids go through there. I'm sure that they'll they'll be next in line to try toe Seo, you know, adopt something think because there there isn't a return on the investment. The airport's realized that That is good news all the way around, Jim. Thank you very much. Jim Ryan ABC News and, Yeah, I want to say, I don't know if it's this exact same thing, but it sounds very similar. I believe it was Austria internationals here. That Ram, sir Damn, I'm pretty sure. Austria international. It would have been last August. I was there. And Yeah, they had this going on and they would tell you the says to the stalls. You didn't have to touch anything. Really? I was like, Oh, my gosh. This is the only way a public bathroom should be. Good experience of that is kinda like what we're talking about rolls out everywhere Bring it on. And if the pandemic can help bring better bathrooms to public spaces again, one positive legacy and I come out of all this nonsense this year. All right. Top three takeaways for today. Starting with Something actually said. At the same time two weeks ago. The morning after our elections. And I said four is a huge story, but not the story today. What a difference that makes that the right people in the right places. And I'm speaking specifically of the supervisors of elections, and Broward and Palm Beach County. All right. This is Cruz did a deep scrub of the main security area. A spokesman says the screener who tested positive for covert 19 most recently worked the 3 a.m. to noon shift on Tuesday. Any screener who also worked that shift must now quarantined for 14 days. Say employees have criticized the agency throughout the pandemic, saying hires up aren't doing enough to protect them. In April screener at Atlanta's airport died after coming down with the Corona virus. Officials say they're trying to limit pat downs and bag searches to minimize contact with passengers.

"Continuing news happening now, computer issues are affecting airlines across the country. Let's go live to WSB's Pete combs. You know, it's never a fun day when you have to go to the airport wait in line at security, and then try to wait at the gate for a plane that is either late showing up relate taking off. Well, that's apparently the case right now. And the reason is a computer glitch at a system called sabre that is a reservation and check in system that's developed by American Airlines, but it's used by airlines all over the world. And when it goes down everybody feels it right now at Hartsfield airport. We're looking at delays that ranged from one hour to more than five hours. However, American Airlines now says earlier today sabre had a brief technical issue that impacted multiple carriers, including American Airlines, the technical issue has been resolved. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience now guys this is gonna take a few hours probably. For the system to right itself. But the good news is the glitch apparently has been found a dentist and taking care of. And now it's just a matter of making up for lost time. "All things considered from NPR news. Atlanta's Hartsfield Jackson airport is the busiest in the world based on the number of passengers who moved through it every day a number expected to rise when you throw in a little old event like the Super Bowl. I'll Atlanta hosts the Super Bowl on February third. City officials have of course, been planning for months, but those plans did not factor in a partial government shutdown. John Selden is general manager of the airport. He joins me now from Atlanta and the Atlanta airport. Hi there mister Salton. Hi, mary. Louise, how are you? I'm doing. All right. Thank you start here. How many passengers pass through security on a typical weekday at hartsfield-jackson somewhere between sixty thousand to seventy five thousand depending on the day of the week and business travel and holidays, but we run somewhere in that range. Okay. So sixty thousand and maybe a little bit higher. How many you bracing for for the Monday after the Super Bowl? So we're looking at somewhere between one hundred and five to up to. One hundred ten fifteen thousand people going through our check point on that Monday morning. So close to double what you would have on on a typical weekday very close to double or record to date. I believe is ninety three thousand so the conversations and the planning before the shutdown was significant and the TSA was going to bring additional canine to do screening and additional officers to do screening. How confident are you that you will have enough TSA officers who you do need to do the security screening the actually show up and be on the job that day? So Mary, Louise, we are concerned we do not expect, and I shouldn't say this. But we do not expect the full staff. There are many of these federal employees that financially have limitations of childcare and paying for gas. So that situation is critical to how many can actually show up for work pay their bills, stay in their homes and take care of their families. But we are doing all we can with our stakeholders with our neighbors friends to support these employees and do what we can to provide them the tools that they need to be able to come to work. Sure. I'm wondering though, when you when you described bringing in additional TSA agents who are not normally based in Atlanta. There can't be that many spare TSA agents anywhere in the country at the moment. Right. Everybody's dealing with with shortages. Well, the the TSA is doing all they can to to get a requisite number which they think they need to get here on the TSA agents will be on there. Government credit card. They'll be putting a hotel their food will be paid for. So those agents they believe we'll we'll show up and support the operation here at Hartsfield Jackson. You described passengers showing up at the airport coming straight from the game who are gonna weep for flights out on the Monday and the Atlanta newspaper. The journal constitution is reporting that travelers will be able to pass through security up to twenty four hours before their flight in order to spread them out. The plan. Then being what that they would spend twenty four hours in the terminal. That's correct. I mean that sounds like. It may be and we have eighteen hundred volunteers that will be badged that can get through the checkpoint and help and support our travelers that will be here in the terminal for an extended period of time. So how closely are you following politics in the shutdown debate in Washington right now? Follow it, very very very closely. It's on in my office. Twenty four seven boy Johnson. We wish you much luck weathering a Super Bowl weekend. Good luck. Thank.

"Bowl worried about problems around the big game. In Atlanta, Hartsfield is already busiest airport in the world. I mean, people going in and out of Hartsfield. They got big problems. And now you've got tons of people rolling into Atlanta. The TSA by the way calling in coughing is upset up to seven percent. So they they don't really want to work for free. Imagine that. Well, I don't you know, when you see that. What's like double? What it usually is people sick. Yes. Yes. It was like two percents left. Seven percent. Yeah. I mean, take any workplace. Yes. And say, you know, what you think is going to be getting paid for this. How many more people would be called and going to put up with that pain in the butt Super Bowl thing. No. My question is do you think this could break bad for Trump? Yes. Just because of the bad for Trump the whole story of government shutdown. Yeah. I do. I think the if you take the temperature right now, the majority of Americans blame Trump for the shutdown. This is the thing he can't afford to have. And he's having it. So how does he turn the whole conversation around? How does he reframe the conversation about border security? I think I think the next caravan. That's heading our way, I think we'll help drive this point home that we need to do this. I also think a really great state of the union speech may turn the tide. It doesn't look like that may happen. Well, if Pelosi doesn't go and Schumer doesn't go and the Democrats don't attend even better. Well, he's going to be interrupting him. Yeah. Well, she can send the invitation and essentially cancel it. So yeah, that's what she's talked about doing. But they would still have to cover. What he says if I'm him. Yeah. I go to Wendy's just have it there. I'd rather have it in front of the people. A rally. Yeah. Think that's probably what it turns into. I think you've got three may four. Actually, you know, news networks that are driving the narrative that it's the GOP's fault, and they're being people being spoon fed this information. And you know, you start to tilt it. I still think fault is the wrong way. Even looking at it. Who is yes, Trump is holding out. And I would say if you're asking me whose fault is the government shutdown. Trump Trump said he'd take responsibility for so you're saying the question being no. And I think that's a lousy way of framing this whole thing because the discussion is about whether or not Democrats should appropriate or agree to appropriate five point six billion dollars talpet border security that should be the conversation not about who's to blame. That's a stupid conversation. We know that's where it's going to go, of course. And then it will be who blinks once they get the temperature of the public who's going to blink here. And I think Republicans are already getting a little shaky right now. Of course, they are. Okay. Well, since we're right on the edge of this. Do you have a prediction for today, you sticking with it as far as do you think we'll ever see a physical barrier and actual wall built on the southern border? David has said no in the past. I still don't know. I don't think so well outside of what's already there. And what's already been talking about just like the full size? The entire border new construction just new construction happening before twenty twenty. Yes. No, no. I don't think. So I think Trump is still going to wind up being boxed in and because he's not getting that kind of vocal support. They even need. I think he's gonna get boxed in trying to build the wall. To try to do it through the emergency declaration, national emergency declaration. That's gonna get challenged in court. That's going to be caught up for a long time in the courts, and it's not gonna happen. And Scott, you say, I think it will. Okay. Moving on to other things. Bob costas. He's out. Leaving NBC splitting with NBC after forty years ending his legendary career at NBC doing sports. Apparently, he needs a lot of help packing. Those so boxes that are there at NBC that he has to move out one of your lines for a long time was I don't know what to think about this topic because Bob Costas has not weighed in yet. Right. Exactly. What year did that really take gun control thing? It was. And then it was the football injuries head injuries at football. He got so boxy, man. But it was like over time that seemed to happen because he was a sports guy. And then it was like I feel like I need to give my commentary. He wanted to be other than just the sports guy which happens to a lot of sports guys. They want to make that transition into other things. So how do you think he will end up being remembered as one of the greatest sportscasters of all time or no I liked him? I like first of all I like, Bob Costas. I loved the fact that he loves baseball. That's always been his thing. He loves baseball. Yeah. I think he will be remembered as one of the great sportscasters. Yes. His Olympic coverage. Pink. Suffered through and wait for Trump to go pink is. On a tweet something like that. Right. Brian Williams was there when Costas gave notice and he was dodging gunfire to going crazy. Oh my gosh. Okay. Also wanted to ask you about Chris Hansen. Chris Hansen, man. Is remember the to catch a predator? Remember those? Yes, come in have a seat. What are you doing here? What are you doing with Botkin condoms? Yes. I don't know. All right. If you were to be honest. Did you get any enjoyment seeing these creed? Yes. Okay. It was entertaining. Man. Chris Hansen got his own treatment. Connecticut. Cops confronted him and busted him four bouncing checks buzzing checks worth thirteen thousand dollars man catching him at his own game. Still I get what you're say. According to the Stanford PD Chris bought get this three hundred fifty five mugs, two hundred eighty eight T shirts. Six hundred fifty vinyl decals from a mom and pop shop for marketing events, he planned. Like his own merge. Just got. Real sad to catch a predator. Chris Hansen shirts pay for him. Mugs. Bumperstickers? No one shows up to his event, this is spinal tap now. Isn't it? Yeah. Well, the guy said, hey, man, I took them hydro. We gave them to him. And he bailed on the twelve thousand nine hundred ninety eight dollar tab, the says after the first check bounced he said, I'm going to go to the cops Krista. No, no, no, no, wait. I'll make partial payments. The owner said no, I want my money. He then by the second check. It said I need more time. I'm going to sell my boat. I'll come up with the cash. Holy smokes, man turned himself in Monday. By the way, it was booked and released from jail who knew Chris Hansen had fallen on such hard time. Isn't it amazing? That mean, he's looking for money. I don't think he can release a greatest hits. Well, that's nice selling the merge county fair with the Burj tent set up selling the greatest hits what's on it. You know, you say you're looking for hot sex. There like clips and clips of this stuff all over one cut one with you. Let me lick you everywhere. Cut to golly. I know because there were all these creeps. Yeah. You know, he ever seen a man's blank bowl. Well, there was that creepy part of the whole thing too. Yeah. Yeah. We gotta move on. In trouble, bro. And that's the greatest hits from I always liked the guys over there. They're like, well, I was concerned about her. And I came over here to nobody got their aunt. Yeah. Right. Okay. Right. There was a survey out. I want to get both of you guys reaction to this. And the question was would you relocate for a job? Sixty two percent said yeah, I consider you know, what would it take a forty four percents at better pay and perks. That would be the top thing maybe for family or personal reasons. Those about seventeen percent sixteen percent for a better cost of living. Sixteen percent to advance their career six percent, only for better weather. I was surprised by that. Yeah. They also found the seven cities that people really want to leave if they find a job somewhere else. This is interesting. That's when this thing gets interesting to me. If you had one guess. The city you wanna bail from to go to another one. Yes. Got to be a cold weather really want to leave. I would guess not a cold weather spot, necessarily, San Francisco would be top of mind for me. I wondered that going to say Detroit. Okay. Here's where it gets interesting. Your mobile wrong, Los Angeles, made it, okay? Chicago Seattle Seattle was the most surprising. That is a little surprised. It doesn't seem like people that are in Seattle want to leave. But if the cost of living is up, and then you've got homeless issue. That's part of it. I think they'd rather see it fixed. But. Charlotte North Carolina. To Moines Iowa, Des Moines. Yeah. Raleigh North Carolina and Miami. Like, Miami, the weather. Yeah. But yeah, but you gotta budge they know nonsensical things to deal with their and get this. You said Detroit, right? Yeah. The five cities where people are least likely to want to leave for the sake of a job Detroit is in the top five because there's no jobs there. Now, they've done a pretty good job over the last decade or so. I'll give him credit Credit's due. Yes. But you would never guess that. The places that people don't want to leave winter. Terrible winters, although talk about miserable winter people. Don't want to leave Minneapolis either. Love it. Minneapolis. City, but man is cold revisited several times. "Loose Memorial Drive. The better. Still at least forty minutes out of sandy springs report hundred twenty marks. So the Macintoshes of the city are getting ready for the Super Bowl hartsfield-jackson is going to spend another ten million dollars in preparation for this. The city's got you know, the anti-terrorist plan all this stuff. But if I can get the breaking news sounder longer. This is probably the most important thing to come out of Super Bowl Sunday. As far as preparations are concerned where is this coming from TMZ sports? Shoe shows you we all know what she shows are. Yep. Gentlemen's clubs. They have been granted the permission by the city to stay open till four AM January twenty eight through February fourth including clubs that don't serve food because apparently there's a blue law if you don't serve food you have to close by certain that the elders the city elders of the city of Atlanta said, you know, it's the Super Bowl was. Yeah, we're gonna pass we're going to let that slide. So all the shoe shows all the dancing establishments will be open till four AM that Super Bowl weekend. Again, January twenty eight through four February fourth you guys weren't here in the late nineties. No. And that was literally the premier attraction to the city of Atlanta. Like people would book conventions here just to go there. Just because of the establishments where you could see the shoe shows, the gold club was, you know, I don't know if you guys ever heard of the gold club used to be on Piedmont road. There was a big scandal. Because they were they did some dastardly deeds. But it was like the best known place to see shoe shows in the United States of America. And it was ripped club wasn't on the up and up. I think part of it was of what you hear debt for trials. So apparently, that's what they called it. Yeah. That's hilarious. It was like there was like federal indictments on this show. I think the biggest thing was. So I mean, literally, it was like just think of the most premier show place in like like, I would go there. And the only reason I did because we when my uncle cigar store, east supply cigars to that establishment. So the the general manager will come and pick up the scars like, hey, come see me. I'll get you in VIP. Right. And I would go with my buddies and have literally six dollars in my pocket and being VIP's with like professional athletes, Patrick Ewing. And you know, I'm there I can't even get a dance or a drink. But I'm just saying it was quite a quite an amazing time. It was such an advantage to for our hometown teams the falcons the hawks the Braves because out of town teams would come into play. And you know, the night before. They were there till four in the morning at the gold club. Anyway, the gold club in trouble. The biggest reason why I mean, they were doing a lot of stuff allegedly. But the biggest reason so let's say guy comes in from Omaha, Nebraska, right business trip, this convention insurance convention, he goes to the show, and you have to give them your credit card. I guess in like the VIP room, or whatever, I don't know. I never did this because I didn't have any money, but they would. Rack up the charges? Like sure they charged dudes twenty five thousand dollars on their card that weren't real charges. And they go ahead and dispute it tell your boss, you know, you're you tell your wife, whatever you guys wouldn't. They would just let it slide or write it off or whatever I think that was the beginning of the downfall of the goal club. But heyday trials, and it was it was crazy. Anyway, the gold club is gone. No more. But that was that was the main driver for the convention business in Atlantic because they would have conventions toward Georgia will congress center why why pick Atlanta over Las Vegas or Miami. Only because of the motley Crue talked about the pink pony. Yeah. Exactly. So that was like the mid to late nineties was the actually tattletale tattletale tells you the apex of of the shoe show establishments in in Atlanta. And now, it's good to see the city council embracing. Former routes of the city, you know, and and giving them away for the weekend. All right. Stay open for which I think is a good idea. If you think of the meat heads. They're coming to town like my friends, which we're going to talk about a second. So here's the I've got friends come into town. And I'm assuming they're going to stay with me because Deb showed me some of the hotel rates. All it's. Oh, yes. It's insane. I'll tell you how much people are having to pay for hotels. Here's the Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer of New York now is that Trump shutdown drags on more and more Americans are getting hurt. Public. Servants have been working without pay critical agencies are unable to perform their functions. Inspecting the food supply protecting our airports in prisons, preparing tax refunds, helping farmers small businesses. Get loans. Earlier today. Senators van Holland car-, carton Warner and sorry. Ben Holland carton. Warren Cain wrote the president urging him to meet with average federal workers who are being hurt by the Trump shutdown. President says he talks to federal workers. We never see him talking to anybody with the exception of the two people always appear on Fox News because their heads of the border patrol union. No one else. So I agree with my colleagues from Virginia and Maryland, let the presidency. The pain the Trump shutdown is causing he'd benefit from listening to their stories of federal civil servants were working without pay locked out of their jobs. Maybe then President Trump will understand the damage he's causing by holding these people hostage until he gets what he wants. Meanwhile, leader McConnell, Senate Republicans are hiding in the shadows. As if they have some kind of version two doing their job when it involves even the slightest break with the president. Leader McConnell and Senate Republicans seem more concerned with not offending Donald Trump. Then helping American families. I have three words for President Trump leader McConnell, and our Republican senators open, the government open the government, you can do it in a minute. Then we can debate border security, that's the responsible position. And it's the position the American people want the overwhelming majority of Americans support our position. And here's the amazing thing. Thirty nine percent of Republicans in the Quinnipiac poll supported the democratic position. Don't shut down the government to get the wall. Those comments by the democratic leader in the US Senate Chuck Schumer of New York USA today has been looking at the economic impact of the shutdown among its findings of the eight hundred thousand federal employees affected by the shutdown three hundred and eighty thousand have been placed on unpaid leave closed federal attractions, particularly the National Park Service means lost revenue as of last week, according to the national parks conservation association, six million dollars in fees have gone uncollected. "Five seventy KLIF. How long do you usually wait when you go to the airport, and you got a flight how long do you usually wait before you get in the car, and you say, all right? I'm gonna get down there. Because you never know how long the lines are going to be I only like to get there. I like to get at the airport. Yeah. Man, if I could I like thirty minutes before they start to board, but no longer than that. Sometimes an hour. But I don't like that. I like to Bank that TSA is on it that they can get me through less than fifteen minutes. And that I'm there with time to spare before even boarding starts. So what's board starts? You still got what twenty thirty minutes, thirty minutes almost? Yeah. Before the they shut the door. But then the problem is you get on last on the plane. There's no place to put your bags. So they ended up having to look most of the times they put it in. They take it from you before you get on anyway. Yeah. All right. So and so they put it in the cargo hold, and you know, with all the baggage claim and all that stuff. Okay. Longest I can ever. Remember waiting was at Atlanta's Hartsfield forty five minutes and that was over thanksgiving weekend. And that was a long, wait. I didn't like it. But you know, forty five minutes thanksgiving. That's I didn't think it was so bad Atlanta's not a bad airport. They got those trolleys the take you everywhere. Yeah. That's what I remember getting on does not allowed to walking. There's just walking to train that takes your wherever you're supposed to go.
