"Right. i'm going to. Let's say let's start this week by talking about hell in a cell the big. Wwe pay per view. That occurred this past weekend. Going to wrap up the show with some of my thoughts. Since i haven't had a proper chance to talk about it and folks into chat. It's time let me know time to talk about what you thought about helena. Cell did you like did you not like it. What was your favorite match was. What was the match. Thought stunk or any match thing. Let me get to a pre show started with natalya defeating mandy rose in a singles match. Abby look this was fine it was fine. it was not the mentioned that i was expecting either. I know the thing with the thing with mandy. Rose is i. I think she gets a lot of. I think she really gets a lotta shit but this is a lady who whenever you give her the opportunity to do stuff she always try something new and i think we saw a lot of new things. Out of mandy rose On sunday she worked the ground game. She she. She worked at grappling game with natalia. Natalia is into that stuff because she's a heart and Apparently that's what all the hearts do. Because they're trained in that dungeon which essentially is just like you know some some gymnastic mats thrown on the ground plywood walls. You've seen photos of the dungeon. This i remember. I remember like back. In the ninety s when they talk about the fabled hard dungeon and they never actually show it. You wouldn't know that. Internet was there but stuff wasn't as widespread and you're like you think you hear about the hart dungeon that's where the train in this harsh environment. And you really picture it like this gloomy damp like disneyesque a area where you lock up people for for years chain to the walls have like vermin running around. It's just the dudes basement. He put a fucking plywood. You know on his walls just through some some shit down on the mat. It's like you look at it as i ain't so bad but back to look i don't want to spend too much time on this match. I thought it was fine. I thought mandy looked Looked pretty good. and Anatolia was fine to this. I mean it was a it was a good. It was a good opener. It's no. It's no serena devers israel which is the greatest pre show match time. I mean if that's the bar. I mean it's a hell of a bar right. You have to have a bar excited..

"It's just it's it's magic is match radel. I think his series with champa of what. He's he's got a lot of potential and i'm actually surprised at the amount of people who are showing different sides of what they're able to do in the ring that can kind of wrestle his style. I think Annex t was so surprised at his rise that they weren't even prepared to take full advantage of it. Yeah i i think that should be a top tier. He'll right now on his way to becoming top of the second tier long-term baby face with them. If that makes sense like he is so he's the type of guy who you could imagine in. This is more like an eighteenth. Eighteen months game plan would be the guy who you'd want to shut up a pat mcafee or shut up johnny gargano or shut up. Akaki adam cole. Even at some point. That'd be a challenge. It'd be a booking Challenge for the booker's but in terms of satcher he he just came out of nowhere and he was so he's so convincing and what he does and it's it's one surprised that they chose to moscow. Twas the champion chose him so to speak to be someone. 'cause champions promos were like i gotta clean up the locker room. These people don't don't in. It felt more like a velveteen dream. I'm entitled abba gimmick. Now give me the world and that made sense. But it didn't make sense then to go after timothy thatcher because that's your in champion seemed like they'd be two peas in a pod. You know criticizing these these kids with their smartphones. And you know video games like just a kind of Judgmental of the of the of the self entitled generation that they're looking at an surrounding number locker room. I loved his act. I just think the booking for him hasn't been strong the last couple of months and i think they're actually defining down more than was inevitably going to be the case so he's had a great year but i i was kind of hoping we'd be talking about him as a potential takeover main event guy in two thousand twenty one and i think they've kinda just the way they frame presented him now. He seems more like he's going to be kind of an upper mid card utility guy which is still more than i anticipated. Nine months ago he'd be but Or i wasn't even anticipating and being anything months ago so it's still a win for him. But yeah i wish i wish i wish he was in a better place. Yeah i think it was his style. He could easily because he's so believable. That that i think that any any any wrestles that that sort of super grappling realistic style. That people don't I think that you could present him as a guy that nobody can beat because they don't know the holes because they don't like they're just not they don't wrestle like that and when you're in there with somebody that does you know he's like stu hart stretching all the guys that are way younger than him in way bigger than him but he's east. Hardy knows every hold. He knows he knows all of it. You know i. I mean that. I always thought that just can't segments instead of being in the arena or whatever should have been in a basement that look like the hart dungeon or something like that where it's like. Oh my god he's gonna kill this guy. There's going to be blood vessels bursting in his head like those scenes from beyond the mat. That bret hart would talk about. But i think it's still possible. It's just a question of whether or not it's something that that they see next. He i think that if you have thatcher get the victory over champa a when they go next and spend the next three or four months kind of building champa. Shane obeys ler when she was championed. The second time you could get to this position where you've you could build carrying cross as a super. He'll the just beats everybody. And then all of a sudden. Here's timothy thatcher who you're not your magic and your smoke and your scariness and the you know the movie stuff is not going to work on him. He's going out wrestle. You and he's gonna break your arm and what are you gonna. You know you. You could be a strong as you want but who how you gonna tiktok anything. If both your arms are broken you know so. I i don't i'm with you. I think that in twenty twenty one. There's no reason that a a you couldn't have i mean. Can you imagine having the way you should do. It is timothy thatcher versus carrying cross. As your main event title match and then directly under that kylo riley vs adam cole in a grudge match like that way you're elevating those two new guys. You still have this main event level match between kyle o'reilly and adam cole. The winner of kylie nanu coal theoretically is going to go on to face. Whoever that champion is there's a lot of potential. There's a lot of potential. We'll see we'll see where it goes when you talk about An xt setbacks to holland was going to be a big part of things to and right night. Yet was a setback in annexed. T was really left. Happened to reshuffle things with karen crossing rich and back to back. Who knows what the plan was for war games. You know you go. That's supposed to be in that match because you know you come out of two thousand twenty with pedone being. You know you're going like this guy should get a run. His ex champion like this. This guy is is top of the line was never supposed to be in that match. Because it's not like it was going to be either only larkin ordained birch their team. So and and i would imagine imagine mcafee was going to be at ringside yelling at right holland done. So yeah i think it seems like don got elevated as as you know the the in for for holly who by the way done getting a push his great. Yeah i. I don't know that done as a top one one or two. He'll is what is what needs to present in order to A grow as a brand opposite of. Aew i think be done as a good number three number four. He'll and i think he got a a little land over over his The the fan perception of him as a top guy. I think needed a little more time to build with a new look but he was. He was if you want to bring him in off the bench. It's an upgrade overreach holland and a lot of ways to richland was a project. Also i mean you have to believe that even though he's obviously annex to uk champion. That walter would have been a big part of programming this year. Had it not been for covid like you know when you talk about opponent for timothy thatcher when you talk about any opponents for any like timothy thatcher verses walter is that sort of to unbeatable guys actually just having a fight main event match. There's so many spaces. Where walter fits in an a bunch of guys from an x t k you know walter and alien ilya elon drag of. I can't pronounce his name. But you know the match. I'm talking about. Uk was one of the best matches of the year and i was in an empty empty room. That was not even in a video screen room that was in a. There's no people in here. It's just these two and they're going to go ahead and have one of the best matches the you're gonna see throughout the entire year so real quick on that. Where do you think walter is in in fifteen months like after wrestlemainia twenty twenty two or is he on wrestlemainia that year. Do you think maybe even a more generalized question. Do you think. Vince mcmahon is going to fall in love with him and give him a big push i think. Yeah there's no way. I mean there's no way he's not. We saw. What happened with keith lee. Even matt riddle to an extent. But yeah i i think i think something with walter is going to catch vince. Mcmahon's i and yeah apps. I think that there's no way they're gonna even though walter. The story on him is he doesn't want to move to the states. They're gonna end up on so much money at him. He has to i really. I really think that at some point. They're going to go like no. No no. no we need walter and it'll be effective. You know what i mean. It'll work walter. Will long while because walter won't be anything but walter like you can give walter instruc- he's just gonna be walter and it is what it is and it works as it is and and i think you know you can be cynical as you want about the main roster and about what happened to some people but.

"But carrying cross got injured. So i feel like twenty twenty one. If it's gonna happen. That'll be the time and i think that it it probably will. I think that that act is really really strong. And it's only going to be stronger when there's a a crowd full of of people. They're chanting along with them. But i think two of the real standouts for an xt. One is pat mcafee. I don't think anybody really saw it coming. You know. I don't think people. I think people knew you know. He's an entertaining guy. Or whatever but quite honest with eddie kingston example. Tv time that. I didn't expect. And i've talked to pat because you know a lot of and it's interesting because a lot of guys that there is something to the fact that all these years because he's been wrestling for years and years and years and it's just been the independence while he's wrestled in some big rooms. He's wrestling some tiny rooms. The idea eddie. Kingston wrestling in front of no people is something that he has done before because he's wrestled every type you can possibly imagine so. He's he had to get used to the gig mattering the performance defining what the gig is And with mcafee. It's like he's never wrestled in front of people. This is the only way he knows how to do it. So he doesn't have that thing where he's missing the crowd. He doesn't have that thing. Where mid match. He should be hearing this sound to kind of know where he's at and he doesn't have to readjust because this is how he's learning And clearly i think he learned very very well. You know i think in terms of i think i the match surprise people because people were still down on pat mcafee even as the adam cole match was being built that night that he was on commentary in the first angle happened. It was like i don't think people really knew where it was going. Or what mcafee was capable of. Because i i mean a lot of people were still like. I don't know what they're trying to do with this. I think it was the first match with adam. Call that made people go. Oh oh that's what's here. And then i think the series of promos that led to war games as well as the performance in the wargames match. But i really think more. So than i expected the performance in the war games match because of the atom call match. I think it was the promos that led to war games. the made people look at pat. Mcafee differently pen maccabi type of personality that every wrestling fan who listens to podcast like yours and mine. Sam is wanting to hate outsider. Who comes in. And it feels like wrestling fantasy camp for a privileged. You know mainstream sports athlete who watches wrestling things. That looks fun. He's bombastic and cocky. So i gotta come in. I can do it. I can do it and you just want hate him. 'cause you're like go pay your dues. Go work out at the pc. Go on the work. Semantic steam matches for a couple of years. Learn your craft gain the respect to your colleagues works. Mindy shows go to japan Go into stu. hart's dungeon whatever whatever dues you gotta pay before you get a national centerpiece where you get to hold the microphone on national tv show. And all that. And i was in that category but you know i want to be objective about it. Not just kate on a guy because of his background and in privilege and i think like a lot of people they were won over by his performance he went out. Aaron yeah there was a little bit of gp your internet. This and that. And i was like oh come on. That's kind of passe. Any made it work. It totally finished personality. Didn't across as like. I'm gonna shoot brother new people. It wasn't any of that. It was like he was authentic. He was coming across as a heel. Should where i think every type of wrestling fan would boo him. But not like. Turn the channel or go. Who does this guy is in a bad way and then he backed it up in the ring. I mean my issue is in. My criticism is think adam cole should have been put in a position to sell an and make mcafee. Look as good as he did. I mean if you look at the art of it the mattress. Great but pat mcafee. You know i mean it. Her i to me there is a it. Does hurt hurt. The craft pro wrestling a little bit the world that's created if a guy can come in with no background in pop up and kick out of and may comebacks against that level of offense from a guy like adam cole who's been your world champion and top tier guy and i still have an issue with that in war games. I thought too much designed around giving him. Glory spots at the expense of guys. Who are going to be there weakened in week out on your tv show so that that's my criticism and i stand by that but in terms of what pat mcafee did he was really really good. I mean when we make a list of people who came in to wrestling from outside a wrestling as sort of you know celebrity appearances or making special runs. He's going to be on. That topped your list of people who just took to the ring and took to the mic and look like he had been there before and looked super comfortable in that environment..

"You are only allowed to use a chair. Same thing with a strap match strap was the only thing that you should be able to use on your opponent. That's legal and not get disqualified but again it's not how it happens. It's not how it goes and that's my. That's my hugh problem with things. Is your be the reason that it set up. These things are not legal is because of other matches on the car. In when you're using those things is take it's not. You're not allowing another mass to tell a story you're taking away from the entire car she I understand what you're saying about them. Deviating from the original rules match. But i think this match was to combat. The cody will release strap match which honestly was probably the best stretch i ever seen and fence. They went out of the ring. And since they you certain things. Wwe probably make it as brutal as you can't make it like. There's and i've xbox not that his opinion really matters to anybody but he. You said that. Dexter loomis camera. Guns is the best strap match us ever seen and i was like. That's false through your. You're totally just pandering to the wwe audience this because although it was a good strap match it wasn't any there was no. Wow factor was just you know. Old school beat him up. The the psychology was a little wonky in that match. But i mean it was an okay strap match. I don't think it was complete garbage. I definitely enjoyed it but to come out and say like the best one you've ever seen. I don't necessarily agree with that. The fact that i agree because hellman even came grams comes out and he goes. This is the strap were using. We're using this one. And this is the official weather but not analogy doing with this one. Nothing was done with that. It's not like it had a special detached thing and it was. It was just a regular strap. So the i get that the original Original use of it was to distract extra rumors and then he went into but it played no other part in that match. And when you make such a big deal about it something should be done i. Yeah what also it kind of was. I think it's only purpose was to distract everybody so then he could beat the shit out of loomis any just oversold it so you so you as a fan or expecting something to happen but it already happened. You know what i eat so it is. I mean i was kind of expecting somebody to kinda like hong over the ropes. Not like brutally but for four seconds or whatever Interesting concept. I came up with him. I had for a strap matches. Although there are no rules they they should enforce rules like you should have to keep it inside the match and there should be like attend ten twenty second count out or something because then you could play with the finishes a little bit. Because i i was thinking. Like how cool would it be if like camera grimes. for example. Who's like the squirrelly he'll in this particular feud if you went an wrapped himself around the pulsa. Dexter couldn't get in at one by count out like that would be pretty cool. And that's something you could establish rules and you know. Make a difference. I wholeheartedly. I think something needs to be done more to these type of matches because highly by alley because of how you know. These things are just getting redundant so z. Let's just talk about what your. What was your favorite match of wargames. Fatter mousa dropping out. I was on that. That was my favorite as well. It was. I mean. I expected to be hard hitting those too so he had a hard hitting match you. You basically had in the middle of war games where you just had a strap match where you use weapons or in the in the two cage matches you're going to see weapons like this was just an old fashioned wrestling matches two guys with two different styles. One of 'em's just they're they're both very intense but one of them is more like a working whole verses you know punch you in the mouth connick guy and watching the two of them create a match that suited both of them was great. The psychology behind this match. Way chapel one I don't i just. I just really enjoyed this match and i might be slightly is because the two men in this match are my two. Favorite wrestlers in annexed by chop has always been on the top of my list as far as a favourite annex ski and thatcher from just from just watching. His in ring were yacht himself over it in my book like he he it started all like he was almost like a type of character where he didn't have a lot to say but he was very intense in like could work. The are make you submit. Stretch you kind of like a a stu. Hart dungeon pat gimmick where. He's had his little students and he gets them in the ring and he stretches on all that so i'm a fan of that that's a it's always grab my attention. And then he and then he goes dozen in the ring. Everything he does is believed. He's a type of guy where you look at a mirror. Like events would never hire. He doesn't have he doesn't have the he's missing a couple teeth. He basically when he first came on. I was like wow so dean. Ambrose two point all because he kind of looks just like dna. Ambrose does especially what he wears jeans. But i you know. I i can't have i don't have. I could talk about timothy thatcher like the way the things he has done to impress me since he's been on tv for hours city. Why was it your favorite match..

But you you know you're a friend I you a long time. I can't escape it. Can I? Know. No one ever. Sean. First of all, thanks for coming on the show again I for those who don't when Shawn since I think he was he was. Seventeen years old. What time did you? Hear hear older than I. Am you know? What What what what year did YOU MOVE TO MINNESOTA? Wasn't a eighty, eight or eighty nine. Eighty nine, it was. It was like that. So was Kinda like. Minneapolis I think I came in the middle of eighty nine or something. No. No because never came and did roper the first time and it was snowing like like a sob outside knows how did that? I. So beats. You're doing. All that out remember I borrowed really. Wellington welcomes Yellow and. Through to speak aches looked spandex Titan Shirtless shirtless with no ten and like a hundred, our many pounds. Yes you're. Oh it was. Yes. I, I'm sorry. I just GonNa say so you were I think at that point I was eighteen and you were seventeen and I'd been doing the torch for a year or two when you arrived on the scene and yeah started working he shows and having standout matches with a number of people Wellington Wilkins pre USC shoot fight of sorts not more or pay. You. You were wrong go. Yeah that was that was a lot. There's evidence of that on youtube somewhere. It's kind a rough. Copy but. Some of it's pretty hard to watch man. They bring it gives me PTSD slash docs. Well, I knew you were like a thousand million times tougher than me False skinny run like me. Relative tall muscular wrestlers like flex luther lex Luther Right but or. Reagan Red Tyler, and Larry What your. Was Heckled Journey, but he's a good too. I remember offering a free copy of the torch newsletter. One time at Roper is and he looked at me and we'll know. She's Systems. Guys. Yeah he was. He was he was different but he was one of those guys that they would bring. They would that Ron Peterson the Boxing promoter that rain. What would bring to? Do jobs for the boxers and he ended up beating the boxers. He's one of those guys. So but this the thing I was GonNa say is I? I knew you were quake than me Just from taking bumps in the ring and doing what you do I, respect anybody who steps into that ring and does that but when you got twisted in a Pretzel by Wellington Wilkins, I mean that was that was insane. I mean this is he I don't know how to compare to Dean Milenko I guess in terms of trying to pick somebody who's a little bit more mainstream Wellington seemed like a guy who probably would have done pretty well in USC had to come along to five ten years later. Yeah early in the early UFC. Yeah and but. And Yeah Willie Willie I just call them. Very sadistic and you know he was a shorter individual so You know he he had that the Polian complex. that so many are. Pretty tough guys actually has. And Yeah no I was. That was a typical Sunday morning though. Bertrand Tampa. So I mean it wasn't like I just as. You know wasn't used to a couple of hundred people watching you. Consider in. Somebody Stu Hart's Dungeon. In. Yes exactly we're going to. take phone calls it a little bit I I, want to invite collar participation, and you can kind of guide the topics we talk about in today's show for the caller part of the show, the number to call a six, four, six, seven, two, one, nine, eight, eight, that's.

"You would gnome as an e C W world heavyweight champion. Welcome to first match Justin credible what's going on buddy dude I. It's a pleasure to have you here on the show and we're gonNA make it easy. We're going to go jumping that first match time machine. Let's go back to Waterbury Connecticut and just kind of tell me a little bit about growing up and your love a pro wrestling came from. It really started when I started to get a W. TBS You know when cable I started to really come around Universal in eighty, four, eighty five and just to see rick flair because. Connecticut was WWF territory with home in all those guys. So when I saw flair and studio wrestling with the first time, the horsemen just released just You know was amazing and all throughout high school you know. Before the Internet was doing backyard wrestling kind of before backyard was a thing and right out of high school I was working when I graduated high school I was working You know part time job at a grocery store. During my breaks, I would read the pro wrestling illustrated magazines and they had a advertisement. For a wrestling school in Calgary, the her brothers Bretault. Family and back. Then like now you could go on the Internet and just bruegel anything and there'll be a million schools everywhere back. Then it was like that it's still a lot cafe. So I worked hard saved up the money and a fluid to Calgary in the summer of ninety two. Okay. So when you got to the heart brothers camp was this actually at the dungeon or was this like the pink bowling alley were Jericho Okay so you're at the paint bowling alley. Yeah, with Jericho Jericho in land were there the year before? Okay and it's funny. Jericho's actually my fourth match ever and Lance was probably six or seven. You know. So we we just you know we were very lucky at the time. We didn't realize it but you know we were so many talented guys work up. There was really it was not like this today you know what I mean. So, tell me a little about getting to the obviously there's the infamous Hart Dungeon that everybody knows about and that was the lore of that and again after having Jericho on the show and a couple of cats that kind of went through the heart but again, decide hearts will call. Point. Just what was your expectation going in and what was the reality to that training talk about that first couple of days I didn't really know what the expectation would be I just You know the first couple of days I got Calgary's literally cross country for me all the way up in the north west of Canada on coming from although in the East Coast Oh you know I'd had really been on a long flight like that before and then You know just just showing up putting up the ring and then realizing that they're they're gonNA make you run a couple of miles and do five hundred squats before you even get into the ring to train you know the physicality that went along with it So yeah, I mean it was it was.

"Pro wrestling camp with no heart brothers, who is training you at that point? We'll keep the first day to. Take over money. And I asked the question which is funny, because actually working right now. Someone's of how many matches ahead. And he's like. He's like what are you talking about? Remember is big. Insulate gearbox. Like. That's really talking about. Gearbox knows street maps they. Had even come from though I mean usually again like you go back to like if there's a talk I call him, shorty. Gearbox I don't know whether I can't. Remember call me gearbox. I'm nineteen years old and I was single. How do you not know how many match you want to find out how many games Wayne Gretzky's ad I can just go to the library at the time, not just the one line. Look it up, but. The fact that he didn't know civil. If I ever have match away, I was on forever. I knew matches. I started having matches I'm gonNA keep a log of it which has kept to this day and here's a scoop for your show. October seconds twenty twenty will be my thirtieth th anniversary of of being in the restaurant business law, and I'm going to release this entire list of matches. Do some stuff around it, because no one's ever done it before, and no one will ever have career like I've had traveling around. The World Shirts Masol of these all of these matches right so. Not to get off track, so you're going to release that. Are you going to do some video and sound like? How is that spoken word do yet. What I WANNA DO! Is this Guy Alex? Marvez is transcribing this bit arresting story. Me Dave Meltzer Bryan Alvarez and just sent them this list. All self publishes for people who want to buy it, and then I'll do kind of. you know we'll just sit down in a room and just talk about all of this history that I have. The three four five hours, or whatever it is, Kinda make a make a chronicle of it. That's awesome. Yeah, so so they was candidates so. He came the first day and it was the the the training center was in a place called Frank Systems Silver Dollar Action Centre, which was basically a casino a bowling alley. And we trained in the back room of this Casino Bowling Alley where if you stood on the top rope, you could touch the roof, so it was actually pretty easy to sanitize grand. Yet such retrain. The Hart? Dungeon went to Pink Bowling Alley. Where we train. So what was training like? You got some guys who you don't really know you know training you. Who was with you? I, know you've got a pretty big notable name that trained with you right off the bat, so let's go into who that was and then just kind of what those those days wore those first couple days. What are you doing in there? Yeah well. The First Guy Matt like when I show we we, we lived in a place, okay tokes, which was outskirts of be like limited branded for Tampa or something like that, and it was really small place, a real kind of farm community and the hotel that was called the Willie, the willing and you think seen hotel a summer. This hotel was a fucking shit hole other. There was bullet holes in in my window. One of them was a sticker. Though in one of them's an actual like was likely retaining archerd are cemented. Somebody put the stick. When was like that's Bullshit Watch this. No phones in the room so if my parents call me. At a door acres phone for you walked Haugen phone. The full the fire alarm. For, a while just went off in the middle of the night. Multiple Times and I was like amount losing all possessions, which was like two duffle bags with the like packaged stuff, and this is all this was elevated to walk down the side stairs, so stairs bicycle bicycle down there. We followed his rise in the world of wrestling from Stu Hart's Dungeon to Ted Turner's WCW. And finally Vince McMahon's wwe today will cover Benoit's return to the ring and his final years with the W W we'll look at the events that led up the Benoit family tragedy in June of two thousand seven and how it impacted the world of professional wrestling. As a whole Chris Ben was year away from wrestling in two thousand one and two thousand two was one of the darkest times of his life and it had very little to do with the injury itself or the pain from his spine surgery. It was the torment of knowing that the business was carrying on without him as we covered last week. The Guy couldn't even stand to take a two week vacation when he worked for new Japan. Now he'd been forced to the sidelines for twelve months during his rehab. He sank into a deep depression. Ben Wa turned to heavy pain medication use for the first time in his career pushing his body to recover as quickly as possible. He was irritable with his family. Lashing out at them. It all put a huge amount of strain on Benoit's marriage normally Nancy Benoit's was the perfect counterpart to her husband's wrestling obsession. She'd worked in the business herself as a ring. Valet working under the ring. Name woman not only to understand the realities of life on the road. She understood the business itself. Better than most wrestlers wives in fact their entire relationship was born out of a wrestling storyline in one thousand. Nine hundred ninety six. Nancy was married to wrestler Kevin Sullivan. Who was also the WCW booker in an attempt to generate some heat? He instructed Nancy to start spending more time with Chris Ben Wa in real life. He hoped gossip about their relationship would reach the wrestling rags and this quote unquote real life. Affair could spark an epic in ring feud on the only problem was no one really noticed or cared. The smart marks who actually were paying attention saw Nancy Benoit's fake affair as an obvious ploy in refuse to play into Sullivan's game for one thing. Ben Wa was a pretty boring guy outside of the ring he just wasn't the type to suddenly strike up an affair with someone like Nancy unless someone told him he had to second. It's not like Nancy and Kevin Sullivan were storybook couple. Allegedly Sullivan was notoriously abusive towards Nancy and had engaged in plenty of affairs himself. At the time. This was all happening. He was rumored to be sleeping with his own valet. Jacqueline so if Nancy really was cheating with Ben Wa good for her but like so many things in Chris. Benoit's life the line between what was real and what was K FEHB eventually blurred after several months of Sullivan. Pushing them together. The pair really did fall for each other in nineteen ninety-seven. Nancy ended her marriage with Sullivan and got engaged. Ben Wa the guys in the locker room joked that in his search for a new angle Kevin Sullivan had essentially booked his own divorce around this same time. Nancy retired from wrestling. In February of two thousand she gave birth to Benoit's son Daniel and from that point they basically had a long distance marriage. Nancy stayed home with the baby while Ben Wall was on the road. That is until the summer of two thousand one when he ruptured a cervical. Vertebra and had to take time off now. Not only was he home all the time. He was depressed and Sullen. They fought constantly with their eighteen month. Old Son watching from the sidelines. Eventually Nancy filed for divorce on the grounds of cruel treatment. She also filed a restraining order against him. She didn't accuse him of physical violence but alleged that he destroyed furniture and other inanimate objects during their arguments she said he would fly into rages seemingly unprovoked. However Nancy later dropped the divorce paperwork and withdrew the restraining order. They got back together. She must have seen a change in her husband and it was probably related to his. Wwe comeback. Because Chris Benoit's was finally getting his title shot. Ben Watt was an undeniably talented wrestler. Wwe superstar Chris. Jericho said Ben Wa was the Michael Jordan or Wayne Gretzky of his profession. He was that good. He influenced many many wrestlers all around the world and change the style of pro wrestling in this country. He was a fan favourite. Always making the top ten matches of the year list. He was a hard worker in the ring. Always making his opponents look good and he was a consummate professional never missing a match or showing up unable to work and yet he toiled away in the mid card for two decades. He was just seen as too small to be a champ. The only time he'd been given a heavyweight title shot was as a last ditch effort from WCW to keep him from walking out the door and he turned it down fed up with the lot of them. He'd hoped that he would be given a fair shake in. Wwe BUT VINCE. Mcmahon was just as size conscious in the late eighties McMahon and refuse to hire anyone who is shorter than he was six one but was eventually forced to retract that stipulation to widen his talent. Google still he held cruiserweights in much lower esteem. Treating them as bi level guys ratings. Were down especially among diehard fans in management. Knew THAT BIN. Wa was a smart Mark Darling. So at the end of two thousand and three they made the call then. Wa was finally getting pushed to the top of the card author. Matthew Randazzo described the decision. His Book Ring of Hell saying it would be Benoit's medal for long service for working injured countless times for always being a loyal hardworking and obedient employee. Ben Was K- fade. Fueled Prophecy had finally come true. His road to Wrestlemainia started in Philadelphia Pennsylvania at the two thousand four royal rumble pay per view. This is always one of the more anticipated and auspicious events of the year. A thirty person match with a unique elimination stipulation. There are no pin falls or submissions. Everyone has to be tossed over the top rope on. This gives big guys a huge advantage and make smaller wrestlers like Benoi easy targets. And they don't all start in the ring at once. Every ninety seconds a new wrestler joins the fray with this means that the higher your entry number the less time you have to spend fighting and the last man standing the one who can outlast. His twenty nine fellow competitors is awarded guaranteed shot at the world heavyweight championship Wrestlemainia. But Vince McMahon wasn't ready to just hand been Wa- his title shot. He was still going to make him work for it. He named Ben Wa as entrant number. One Ben Wall was going to have to beat every other man in that ring to prove himself to the fans the royal rumble match was the night's main event when the Canadian Crippling Chris. Benoit's stock down to the ring the crowd was primed and rowdy. Probably a little drunk. They had no idea they were about to watch. History be made man after man charged down the ramp and into the match. A one by one. They all win over the top rope after almost an hour. Ben Wall was one of two men left standing in the ring. Ben Wa and the big show David and Goliath when the seven foot tall big show easily scooped. Benoi into the air. The crippling wrapped his arms and legs around the giant's neck. He squeezed and squeezed eventually forcing his giant opponent. Over the top rope. A Guillotine choke hold. The big show tumbled out of the Ring Ben. Wa was the last man standing. The referee raised his right arm in victory. Not only did Ben Wa win. But he'd broken the record for the longest amount of time spent in the royal rumble match lasting one hour. One Minute thirty five seconds. One of the commentators declared Chris Benoit has worked his ass off for nineteen years in the day has come. He earned it. You GotTa give the man credit you gotta respect.

"Before we get into the story. Let's talk about professional wrestling for a second. People are quick to point out how wrestling is fake. But that's not really an accurate description as WCW world heavyweight champion Bill. Goldberg said it's not fake. It's predetermined home. What does he mean by that well? Wrestling can't be called a quote unquote real sport. Because it's not a competition. The outcome of every match is decided backstage by Booker's and promoters so no. It's not a sport. It's a performance one that requires a great deal of real talent in real athleticism. Sure guys pull their punches kicks. Don't actually connect. They oversell their injuries to the crowd but the work done in a wrestling. Ring is undeniably grueling and physically punishing. There's a right way to take German SUPLEX. But there's no easy way you're still landing with the full force of your body weight on hard suspended. Matt which is really just a few inches of wood covered by even less foam padding. And if you land the wrong way you can pinched a nerve or rupture a disk or break your frigging neck yet night after night. Show after show wrestlers take to the ring and dive head first off that top rope all in the name putting on a good show and telling a good story and like all stories there are heroes called baby faces in villains called heels for decades wrestlers resolutely maintain their caricature personas both in and out of the ring upholding the strict rules of K. Fehb CANNON. They only referred to each other by their in ring names. Heels only traveled with heels faces only partied with faces and backstage. There are always two separate locker rooms in a fake sport K. Fehb added the necessary realness to work all the wrestling fans out there into believing what they were seeing someone who really buys into the world of wrestling someone who either actually thinks it's real or allows themselves forget that it's predetermined is referred to as a mark. This is a holdover. From the origins of professional wrestling matches were basically mobster backed bedding schemes. Working a mark is con artists Lingo. Later years they weren't so much conning you out of your money as they were your loyalty and Phantom and Chris Ben. Wa was self admittedly one of the biggest wrestling marks of all time. He could never get enough of professional wrestling. Even when he became a professional wrestler himself. Author Matthew Randazzo wrote in His book ring of Hell at heart. Chris Benoit's was just a big fan. Someone who had irrationally followed his childhood dream and continue to pursue it long after he knew. Better Been Wa- up in Edmonton Alberta Canada in the nineteen seventies at that time wrestling promotions. Were broken up by territories who you saw in the ring depended on where you live. Alberta and most of western Canada belong to a promotion called stampede wrestling run by Stu Hart stews wrestlers trained in the dungeon known to be one of the most punishing initiation rites imaginable in a literal basement prison in his mansion. Stu stretched new wrestlers in sadistic submission holds only releasing them when they begged for their lives through. Blubbery tears in this crucible. He produced some of the most violent hard-bitten ASS kickin fighters around. They had to have that kind of talent to survive with their fans ran. Dozo explained is stampede. Ever offered up the type of cartoonish phony action that typified pro wrestling elsewhere. The Bar Brawling audience would riot in heckle and at the center of this destruction in the late seventies early eighties when Crispin Wa. I was a kid. Lewis TV SET. Was the dynamite kid. Tom. Billington Benoit completely idolized him. It only five foot eight and two hundred twenty pounds. Billington made up for his smaller size with insane acrobatics in the ring that could rightfully be described as suicidal his signature move the diving. Headbutt Song Billington Leap headfirst from the top rope arms at his side drilling his skull into his prone opponent chest. He performed the spine shattering stunned thousands of times in his career unsurprisingly. Billington was wheelchair bound and brain damaged for the age of forty other wrestlers called him a cautionary tale but to Crispin Wa. Dynamite kid was his favourite performer personal role model and professional blueprint. Every other wrestling champion was some seven foot. Three hundred pound monster that slapped little guys around in the ring but billiton's agility stunts made the big guys look like uncoordinated Claude that he could wrestle circles around. He proved that mid weight wrestlers could be champions two as long as they had enough guts. Ben Wa who was also small guy decided at age twelve. He was going to follow in dynamites footsteps. No matter what Ben. Wa went to work building up his slight physique through weight training and allegedly steroid use by nineteen eighty five. He could bench press four hundred pounds that year he join stampede wrestling and was brutally initiated into Stu Hart's Dungeon according to Ram Dozo. Stu believe that a pro wrestler should above all else be tough and humble and the only reliable solvent of a rookies ego and fear was the merciless concentrated application of pain. After a trainee experienced true pristine pain there would be nothing that could ever faze him in the ring. This last part was especially important not just to maintain but also to keep a wrestler from getting injured. The choreography of most matches is called in the ring. Generally the only thing laid out beforehand is. Who's going to win? And what their finishing move set will be this. Means the wrestlers have to be able to communicate quickly and accurately during a fight. No matter how beaten up or exhausted or cuss they are they need to be able to react on an instinctual level when another wrestler jumps at them from a top rope or picks them up and body slams them onto the map Stu Applied Malcolm glad wells ten thousand hour rule to professional wrestling but instead of running scales on the cello his boys were running the ropes and taking pratfalls. Ben Wa was a diligent student silently. End Graciously taking his lumps. While this could be seen as a young man adopting professionalism toward his chosen career it could also be seen as the first time the line between real life and K fe blurred for him. The dungeon was legendary among wrestling circles. He'd known what he was signing up for going in he was in on the secret stews stretching all part of the act part of the art so if he played the cave part signed to him tortured trainee wrestler. He'd eventually be allowed to move into his next role promising novice wrestler. Eventually he'd be made the leading man heavyweight champion the more his masochistic work ethic paid off the mortgage life followed the cave script closer. He was becoming the next iteration of the dynamite kid. After only seven months on the stampede active roster nineteen year old Ben. Wa was given his next big break. He was invited to train at the new Japan pro wrestling. Dojo in Tokyo. The DOJ O.'s reputation for punishment and sadistic torture of trainee wrestlers. Made Stu Hart's Dungeon look like summer camp. Their graduation rate was estimated at one percent and been Wa- suffered even more targeted abuse for being a Guy Zine a foreigner and an undersized one at that it was assumed that no Westerner would have the strength to endure the training. He should just drop out now and save them all some time as described by Matthew Randazzo. All the trainees called young boys or co highs. Lived in the barracks at the DOJ. You veterans or seniors called Sent Pies were assigned to mentor them. Young boys were required to show absolute obedience to their send pies no matter the request whether it was doing their laundry buying their groceries or washing their back in the shower when the actual training portion of the day began it started with one thousand squats and five hundred pushups. If any of the young boys showed signs of weakness or pain. They signed another set of five hundred. Only after all this exhausting punishment where they find the allowed to enter the ring and even then most of the time they were stretched if they were allowed to spar it was in the customary. Japanese strong style which was designed to be as real as possible. If the trainers felt like the young boys weren't selling their moves hard enough they punch them in the face for real drawing blood at the end of the day. It was all the young boys could do to drag themselves to the barracks and collapse into their bunks as excruciating as it was Wa in customary fashion. Put his head down. Follow the rules and muscled through after all the dynamite kid was also a product of the new Japan Dojo. This was just one more step on the road to becoming his idol but he honestly hated his time in Japan. He didn't speak the language. He was constantly harassed. He hated the food and he was incredibly homesick. Ben Wa started to retreat. In on himself he earned the nickname. Houdini from his friends for his ability to disappear into thin air fellow. New Japan wrestlers Scott Norton recalled when the boys would be out drinking and eating. We'd be laughing having fun. And then you look at Ben Wa and he'd just not be there his eyes would be blank he'd be on some other planet just staring out space like a Zombie. He did this all the time. Everything in his life was centered around the world of wrestling and his future in the business when he was in the ring came alive establishing himself as a talent to watch but out in the real world and while I had no idea who he was so he simply allowed himself to disappear..

"Even as popular wrestlers continued to leave the WWF for the rival WCW. Brett Star continued to rise. The excellence of execution became his tagline. But that's really what he was so kind of raw talent. He proved himself to be so valuable. That when and all the other stars Kinda left the company he he stepped up. Brett was emblematic of an old school kind of wrestling. His technique was unparalleled. Ll in hearken back to the shooter style of wrestling that he learned in the Hart Dungeon shooter style. Is You don't really see it anymore. But it's kind of European pins South Asian wrestling hybrid. It's one part grappling and one part hand to hand combat and it was famous for its submission holes. You could see all of that influence. Come through in his finishing move. Finishing move is the move that you do that. No one else can answer you know. And that's the move that when you apply the fans no it's over it's also the move when the person gets out of it the fans. Oh my gosh this is a match that means something and so breasts. Finishing move is one of the the all time great finishing moves and a move. That really really does not feel good. When applied is most people can attest to that have had applied to them by one of their friends when they were growing up? And that's the sharp shooter and it's a submission move like you know you. You basically locked the person's legs and apply pressure in such a way that Oh my God they could probably snap your leg if they wanted to. And it's also so mazing watch and put it on because you're basically watching someone make themselves in another human being into Human Pretzel so they're they're folding their legs and there's like it's like an a human origami at a certain point. The Brett was joined by members of his own family who formed the core of the Hart Foundation. Now that's not a charity. The Hart Foundation was is the name for the crew wrestlers that surrounded bread. There were his brothers in law Jim the Anvil night. Hart and the British bulldog and there is Owen. Hart the Youngest member of the heart brewed in the nineties. One of the most prominent plot lines in the WWF was a rivalry between bret and Owen with playing the overlooked younger sibling out for revenge from all the hear from people that did know him was one of the funniest was charming. Most down to Earth human beings on earth but he he could play horrible horrible human being in the ring and just was just so funny and just had such great sense of timing became a star. When I was a little boy was bigger than me and when he was older than me and he pick on me and tease me and make me bully me? There was a time when you used to be but then and I've got bigger and I got I got older back. Here's Brett talking about having to keep up the charade in a documentary about owens life. We never talked to each other same flight same plane same. He'd sit in one spot nights in another one time. We got detained. At Calgary. Customs Owen wants something to me and I kind of lean back and I said the maximum rate or something like that and also in this woman's customs officer come barging little office. And she goes I. Gotcha I knew that you guys talk. I knew you were friends eventually. The two siblings reconciled in the ring and routined up but soon enough real life drama would intervene. Vince McMahon the head of the WWF was losing viewers to Ted Turner's WCW. But Vince thought he we had a solution he felt that America was done with a straightforward heroes and villains at wrestling had promoted for so long. They wanted something different and we in the WWF think did you. The audience are quite frankly tired of having your intelligence insulted. We also think that you're tired of the same old simplistic theory of a good guys versus bad guys. Surely the era of the Superhero urge you to say your prayers and take your vitamins is definitely passe. Hey he started to turn wrestling into something. More provocative but Brett didn't like the new direction. It's got a lot more raunchier lot. More sexual shows very very sexual in a in a bad way. I don't think you watch wrestling for sex. I don't think it's I don't think it's become something you presentable to your children like like my kids won't want any more or none of them. Not even the teenagers and it's just become something. I don't really want associated myself with the clean athletic strain of wrestling that Brett embodied who's making King Wafer something flashier but he was still the biggest star in the WWF and a huge draw. Brett wanted a new contract from the WWE. It didn't feel that he was offered the money he deserved told them he was going to go to Turner depending on who you believe. Vincent man was given time to counteroffer. Sure he wasn't given time to counter off or depending on who you believe. There's a lot of different versions of these stories but he was decided that he was going to go to. WCW and he still had the heavyweight championship chip. And that's that's the key you know Vincent Man did not want him leaving with that belt he want him to lose it in Montreal like that was the idea. He's like he was. He was GONNA lose it to Shawn Michaels and he said. I just don't want to do in Montreal. The next star up from him is Shawn Michaels and Shawn Michaels and Bret Heart in real life end in wrestling. Life have a massive rivalry so this is how much they hated. Each Other during a live live broadcasted monologue Shawn michaels insinuated. That Bret Hart was cheating on his wife with sunny. I need this this woman wrestler. You got some ninety days. Get the job done. So that's how ugly the rivalry was between them. So when they got in the ring together they really wanted to beat the shit out of each other and the idea that Brett rat would have to hand over the title to Shawn. Michaels was the highest of insults. The animosity was very real. That's the one thing that I don't think anyone really questions like now they. They were buddies behind the scenes but they were great friends at one point. You know here's Brett again in wrestling with shadows talking about just how humiliating would be to lose to Shawn. Michaels in a Canadian arena can't do it. I discard Vince. Just assume blow my brains out would be the same from a character standpoint. That's what we'll be doing birthday. He met Hardwood bullet brain cells so they come up with this plan to basically instead of losing to Shawn Michaels the match that they had planned for each other in Montreal. It will end in a draw a sh- MAS is what they call it. When a bunch of wrestlers sort of like ambushed the ring and the referee so disoriented doesn't know what to do? He just has to call it off and then the next day Brat was going to just sort of forfeit the title Brett sent in his resignation in signed with the WCW and finally ended my career fourteen years with the WWF. I can't help but feel really Oy. Heart broke and disappointed. That dumb left this company. What Brett didn't know is? Is that Vince Shawn Michaels and almost certainly. The referee had a different idea of how the match would end in Montreal in. Brett's the home country where he is a bona fide hero. They decided to kind of go behind. Brett's back they told them. Okay fine you know you can have your your victory in Montreal. And then we'll take the belt off you the next night. But they went behind his back and they came with a different plan. And that plan was they got Earl hefner involved the referee and Got Shawn Michaels in on it as well and it was decided that Sean was going to win the belt on November Ninth Nineteen Nineteen ninety-seven Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels got in the ring in front of twenty thousand fans in Montreal Sean Puts Brett in his own finishing move this like tribute to his family to his father. Sean puts in the in the sharpshooter Kirby Center and almost immediately the REF calls for the bell to ring and Shawn Michaels winced title. And he just books out of the Ring John Gathering immediately. Everyone just got out like let's get L. earlier. You can clearly see the shock on Bret. Hart's face he was promised that he wouldn't end his WWF career by losing in front of a Canadian audience. But Vince McMahon had lied to him. That's when he sees Vince McMahon Ringside and. He spits right in his face. Bread red search trashing camera equipment around the rink and Brat knowing that the. TV's are still on him. He starts to spell the letters. WCW WCW in the air. He's just walking around spelling. WCW and basically saying fuck you. You fucked me. I'm GonNa Fuck you and it was war. Afterwards he heads backstage and asks Shawn Michaels if he knew what was going to happen. Sean lies and says that he didn't Sean you're talking witness. Aw God still came back. Your Vince McMahon comes to see bright right in the locker room and Bret Hart he punches his billionaire boss right in the face. Here's Vincent Man being interviewed a week after the Montreal match I was disappointed in Brett when he hit me.

"Stu Hart was born in Saskatoon in Nineteen fifteen and he had it rough from the beginning. Stu Hart drew up a farmer's boy like he grew up on armie grew up very very poor and at one point. His Dad actually went to jail for falling behind on his taxes. He had to be tough. Because a okay back in those days. If you're left handed you were basically abused by adults. And he was left handed and he was treated very poorly enforced just to use his right hand which You know right away he was he was treated like like an outsider. Like there was something wrong with him. You know I think from a very in early age. Had to put on this very macho persona he has a really really tough it out STU become the professional tough guy. He's a weightlifter weightlifter. A bodybuilder a championship collegiate wrestler he even becomes a football player and joins the Edmonton Eskimos but a cycling accident. Destroys his Zack. Let career he'd broken multiple bones. He was hospitalized in Edmonton for months. And that's when his friend. Aloe Ming convinces him him to join the navy. They both love bodybuilding and weightlifting and they become like the beefcakes in residence at the navy base in Nova Scotia Russia if you could just imagine them weightlifting with artillery equipment and sometimes even showing off by bench pressing each other they start to organiz wrestling events. And that's how Stu Hart first became a wrestling promoter but even then he was still getting in the ring himself. That's the thing about STU. A heart like we're talking about a professional wrestler. We're also talking about someone who probably present landscape would be a UFC champion like his level of physicality and kind of what brought to wrestling as far as these emission holes. That's that is carried on to this day. He's so talented. And he's reviled by other wrestlers. For how how. seriously he takes himself and even though he's a good guy a lot of the fans don't like him because their girlfriends in their wives have the hots for him. MM-HMM STU and I'll end up moving back to Alberta and starting up a wrestling promotion that will turn into stampede wrestling. They put on live events and eventually eventually these were broadcast around the world. He would run shows all over the place on these shows. You'd be fooled with with rabid fans that would be just living and dying by the action. The ring stampede wrestling is a phenomenon. It's quite possibly the most successful Canadian. TV program in history. Yeah I mean it runs for decades in more than fifty countries. STU would train many of the wrestlers himself in his basement which soon became infamously Asli known as the Hart Dungeon. He put his victims into vicious. Submission holds until they couldn't take it anymore. He was a master of these types of holes and he would apply them with great delight. He loved pain and cats which is another thing that comes up time and time again when you hear about the house is wrestlers that would see the litterbox on the counter the pancakes with the SPATULA. Then foot the catch litter faucet the same spatula in nineteen. EIGHTY-FOUR STU Hart. He's almost seventy at this point. Sell stampede wrestling to Vince. McMahon junior a wrestling promoter from New York who's buying up and consolidating local promotions and he's a capitalist of the highest order and he didn't want just the peace. He wanted the whole pie and I think he would be very proud to admit that too. So He's cable. TV to his advantage vantage and he bought into markets where there already were wrestling territories in really produce stars and he went around rated territories for stars and those stars included some of stews on children. He's a doting husband and he wants a family and a big family and he has one he has twelve kids. Eight boys all of them become wrestlers. Four girls every single one of them at one point. Mary's a wrestler but from the start there was one who stood out from the rest. Ask From Calgary Alberta two hundred thirty pounds Bret Hart reds very much. His father's son and I know that's a strange thing to say because his father had eight sons brothers aim at heart is an unbelievably gifted talent. Athlete you know physical specimen who was trained by his father and just kind of raised. And he's he's a big physical person. He's not big by wrestling standards and definitely not huge huge by an big by the wwe wrestling standards of the mid eighties. which is when he kinda showed up there but he was just so talented in so so unbelievable in the ring that he could make even the big fish giant look good when he was wrestling Bret Hart? He didn't quite fit into the wrestling world. World of the nine thousand nine hundred eighty S. This was a time when outsized characters like Hulk Hogan and Andre. The giant roamed the landscape. Brett was confined to being a mid card performer. Remember at this time wrestling was all about the caricatures. You know you were a wrestler slash a Voodoo Shaman. So you were a wrestler slash policeman. You were a wrestler slash a garbage man. Maybe you didn't have have a sort of Villian type character. You wouldn't really get to perform in the main events Hulk Hogan at that time I'm was like Rockstar meets. Gi Joe I think it was sort of the inspiration and Bret Bret Hart was just bret. Hart I mean. Even the way that he talked about himself was very different because he would talk about his real life. He talk about growing up in wrestling. He would he would talk about growing up in Calgary he would talk about coming from a wrestling family but it wouldn't be long for bread to finally get his big break. What happens pins is in the early ninety S? There's a steroid scandal that rocks the WWF almost brings it down and Hulk Hogan is at the center of that and ultimate warrior. All the all the the a-list stars are embroiled. In and Vince McMahon needs to rebrand brand he needs to do good guy one that shows what wrestling really stands for so he sets his sights on Bret Hart it brings in Owen. Har- builds up the Hart Foundation and Brett goes from a standard baby face to the the biggest star in the industry in a matter of years.

So every single w restaurant right now could potentially be the pete rose of wrestling because if you could make this onto matches right four hundred fifty bucks. Well I guess that's the the odds are different right but if you could make five hundred bucks a night betting on every rustling paper there's gotta be some cheap bastard out there that's the Pete rose of WWe right. Yeah Yeah Yeah that's not nice not bad But man that here there little event I saw the ref jump up and check my probably heard clank and I was like I I was like what's going on and and then all of a sudden a few minutes later he really started seeing that blood. You know show up by the end man. It was it was it was pretty gnarly. Yeah that was Was the funniest 'cause I saw the replay on that a couple times too but he he is right there. I mean he saw heavy jumps right up. There used to it. That's what she did. She she banging on the post. I think she got some whiplash on it but I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the shit out of the room. I don't I don't listen. I realized that so Atlanta. My ass was icy in her. I went up again after another beer. I'm like I'll hit that motherfucker. I hit a bigger one and I had a drop after Atlanta Talbot again so the whole moral story is if you break your owner Bruce. It is the same thing. It's just a different. They can't do anything about it. It's just a longer recovery time so I did that match. I felt fine honestly. I felt fine. I didn't Bob once. I never took one guy soup. A SOUP. Like that's a half. A bump took an airplane spin. I did I did. I said please God some. You don't gentle so so a week later and felt fine. And then a week after that. It's like flared up and it's killing me so I don't know I want to go. It's nice by the time of the day we were and it was so slick everything was melting and it was. It just was not good as felt right off on mass but you know live and learn wrestling. You don't need your body for that. No not at all especially your tailbone. I tried to do a forward roll today. Killed so fucking mad look emotional as Washington because he did but I don't I told this is all one hundred attitude. I hit what I was hitting the road until I told us the hunters as though as a whatever the next matches all the face bumps and spike my head and everything in the world. And with Ian, we will talk about ring of honor's huge pay for you coming up next Friday, December fourteenth, call final battle. So look on looking for that conversation, quite frankly class kid, he in Cochabamba real good job on the ring of honor product and a looking for this conversation. Also think day meltsa for answering my crazy questions you'll hear a little bit later on the program. And don't forget that today as we record this the fourth day of Hanukkah, I want to say. Hello and happy Hanukkah to my mom. Sivarasia? Berry bloom. He's a super agent. Now, he has t shirts. So we ref on Sunday evening for the Jewish families around the world and shore that as you should. But right now, ladies and gentlemen, we got so much. We got a lot of ground cover here, man. We have got a lot of things get too. So right now without any further ado, here's what's on my mind. Certainly leading off. What's on my mind is knowledgeable and out of respect regarding the death of the forty first president of the United States, George H W Herbert Walker Bush. He died last Friday as we record this on Wednesday. President Bush funeral was proceedings were beginning, and and the return to the White House in Washington DC. He's quite the man boy talk about a guy that lived a full life. He was the father of the forty third president former governor, Texas, the father of a former Florida governor and for us wrestling folk he was a big wrestling fan. He's personal friends promoter Paul Bausch in Houston, very well publicize their relationship and also one of my mentors was mentored by Mr President Bush, and that would be the. Cat lead. Ernie was also golden triangle area and orange Texas. I think our newest from so Ernie in the former president were very good friends at that time. I thought routed a nice job kicking off their show. They remember it's of President Bush and all running from Houston his last hometown. And remember also have missed this broadcast on down the road back in the day that George Bush was also wog mcdaniels little league baseball coach in Midland, Texas, when H W Bush was out there drilling oil wells oil business. So a great president great statesman classy, man, a good, man. A good man, which I believe should be a free requisite for any public servant be a good, man or woman as a case may be also on Wednesday morning. Here today as we record. Again, we hear the sudden passing Tommy Billington also known as the dynamite kid. Ironically, today's Tommy's birthday, he turned sixty. He turned sixty in Maine passed away earlier today in the UK, one of the most influential innovative entering performers that I ever saw covers a lot of ground a lot of years. He influenced a lot of talents. If you go back and find the match, I think around eighty two the Donna my kid versus tiger mask. It was amazing. And you watch it from eighty two now, I see that. I see those kind of moves. These transitions are the segues today. That's how far he was the head of the game. So. So cruel irony that the man who trained one of the reasons telling you so good is he got his experience in the ring and from paying audience in Britain as a teenager, fourteen fifteen years old, Mexico, different style. The the Stu Hart dungeon and Calgary another style and then in Japan. Even more influence and technique and style ISM. So Tommy did it right. I don't know if he knew he was doing it. Right. But he got experience you've got to think. Well, maybe he went to wherever we could get booked. But in the process of going where you could get booked mic some decent money. He learned different styles and different presentations. So that allowed his game to always be changing any volving. And again, he didn't have any problem..
