Welcome today five of the Thanksgiving the experience today. I I want to ask you one particularly interesting question that I love to ask our guests on the gratitude. PODCAST has that means reviewing who was or is that person that made a huge difference in your life. Think about it there might be a few people or it might just be. One person may be that they were there for you when you most needed them or give you a piece of advice that changed your life. Just think about it. Who is that particular person and remembered what he or she did for? Are you in our day to day. Life we forget about the people that really helped us along our way to reach the goals that we wanted to reach the rich the level at which we are today but I think they is a good day to remember. Remember that person do give thanks in your mind in your heart and if that person an is still alive to send a message to give them a call to thank them personally because they might not even know that they had such a big impact on you and You telling them this might make their day week or even their perception of life much different different because think about it if for instance if you if you are a teacher and maybe you've Retired and you think back about your career about all of the students that you've thought and You might think that your impact isn't that big if you don't receive any kind of feedback from them but when someone let's you know that what you did actually help them or a piece of advice that you give them had a great impact on them. You will see the whole experience of teaching and Your Life's work in a different perspective. Even though it's just one person it can really make a difference in your life as a teacher. I know that I did did this with My English teacher for instance and she was very happy that I called her. I actually wanted go visit but She wasn't available and It was a great experience to to be able to thank her for for all that she has taught me. And for the fact that I was able to exercise my English at her classes and that she had the style of teaching. That was extremely helpful for me. It was practical and Even though she she's kind of tough person or her at least a tough teacher. And that's what other if people think about her She was happy to receive this feedback. This appreciation from me and and I'm sure that you can think of one person that has impacted your life and that might not even know all this and I think this is a great opportunity for you to give. Thanks in inside of your heart and your mind but also to express it to let them know because it might just make like I said it might I just make their day. They're weak or it might actually change their entire perspective about their own life. Thank you so much for listening and now we'll see you tomorrow with day six. It's outcome coach chip. And we are just trying to get through this Saturday afternoon about one hundred and forty degrees here. and. These are just giving. Really heated up, so we're going to jump right into this This episode era number eighty five, and this is GonNa be. A little differently I mean we've talked about over the. Last eighty something episodes all about how? The mind the body the soul, but we really haven't mentioned that the about money. Finance and that's what most people always want one list. So. We're going to be careful because something is going on with our monetary system. Tendering currency with this government and all governments global. Robert Kiyosaki is going to lead us in on. This secret is going on right now. And? We'll bring. You have more upstate to as well so let's tune in right now to Robert Kiyosaki on a moderate Virgil podcast and listen to what he has to say right here right now the question. If you're sitting at home right now, we're at about your job or your business. One of you worry about what does the future hold and that's why this pilot, the most important program most people just watch the stock market. That's all they watch. They don't know much about home prices in their neighborhood, and that's not good enough, so our guest today is George Gamut the ultra complex. And puts it in pictures. If we don't understand them at first, just keep tracking with them. Because you're going to see what ninety nine point nine nine percent of the world's population will never see. What are you saying in the future? George what I want to stress and I'll explain this just momentarily, but what I want to stress to the viewer is that if you're able to just start to understand the macro economic picture, and it doesn't need to be complex the the reason you think it's complexes, because all these economists and academics, they use all this jargon and technical terms, but if you just break it down into simple English, it's actually very easy for people to understand, and if they understand it, they're. They're going to be able to make much better decisions for themselves and their family on a for in the in the future for their their finances, so I whether it's me or anyone else. Make sure that you're trying to really pay attention to what's going on. Let's just say that you you've been saving your money. You've been working hard. You've been doing all the right things you've got a little nest egg saved up and you go to the bank. You know like Oh, my gosh. They're only giving me point. Interest or zero, or who knows what it is, it's you can't even see the interest rate so small nowadays, so you say okay. Where can I go to get a little bit higher rate of return but I still want to be safe. It's gotta be safe, so then you might look at a product like a money market, mutual fund or a money market. Market Fund and then you look at this. We'll that safe all my buddies are doing it. It's just like a bank account, but I get maybe one point five percent return what the average person doesn't realize is they're taking exponentially more risk just to get that one percent additional return. So how is that because the way that the Money Market Mutual Fund? Fund gets the additional return. Is they take your hard earned savings and money and they put it into the repo market, or they put it into the commercial paper market, which is basically funding for corporations, the same type of thing, so the question then becomes that person that's just watching Monday night football, and just enjoying I just with the white picket fence. Fence the two kids the golden retriever. They don't care about what's going on with the plumbing. They don't care about the dollar swaps, but does that person really want to lend their hard earned savings to Deutsche Bank to HSBC some of these banks that could be crumbling as we speak or to put things into other terms like more America centric corporate terms. Would that individual want their money being lent to American Airlines right now or Boeing right now we're every single time you turn on CNBC TV. You see that they're asking for another bailout because they're about to go bust that that's how this macro and that's how the cash flow and the plumbing that Roberts talking about. That's how just one way that it can affect the everyday person so if I bank cycle and bust right now. What does that mean? It's not just the banks. It's the government. It's the private sector. It's our entire economy. Because the these debt cycles run in courses of seventy five to one hundred years. I'm going back to Ray. Dallaglio right now. At the top of a seventy five hundred year long term debt cycle so the only way from here down. Robert You you call this a lot of your books, and you kind of predicted this and had the foresight to see this coming, but when you get to the top of one of these debt cycles. Cycles the only thing the government can do. There's four ways out of it number one. They can choose austerity, which very few governments do, and that's just tightening the belt spending less. Everyone feels the pain think of the deflation-depression where the nineteen thirties or they. They restructure the debt while it's not likely we're going to do that with China. It's not likely we're going to do that with the big banks, because they're the creditors at, or they could just default to. Hey, we're not paying you. Or what most governments do is they choose money printing. This is creating inflation to bail out all the people who have the debt whether it's governments whether it's individuals, so went once you get debt to a certain level. You've gotta you don't have to, but most governments choose to inflate it away, so let's what does that mean for the average person well, if the government is going to try to create inflation, meaning the cost of goods and services going up what you WANNA. Do you want to make sure that your position for that so as an example if you own your own home? You've got to make sure that you've got a thirty year fixed rate mortgage because if they tried to create inflation, if interest rates go up then. Your interest rate is going to go up unless it's fixed, and what happens in when you're a debtor, and they create inflation. You're going to have the opportunity to pay the loan back your mortgage with cheaper devalue dollars. So the way they can think about that is if they borrow, it says one hundred thousand dollars. The rate of interest means that they're paying the bank back with increased purchasing power, because you've got principal plus interest, so what happens in inflation, though is inflation allows the borrower to pay the debt back with less purchasing power. So if your rate of interest let's say as one percent or three percent call it. In flation goes at the five six percent the Delta between those two as a transfer of purchasing power from the bank to individual homeowner, and I think a lot of people listening to this probably have a mortgage, if not on a rental property on their own home i. think that's the very first thing they can do to be proactive, also gold silver bitcoin. Bitcoin you talk about that all the time or sitting on this corona virus, which is changing everything. What is Your Crystal Ball? What are you seeing? Not Your Crystal Ball because you are studying it and you're seeing all the charts and the numbers. What are we looking at from an economic standpoint? I think the big question is do we have deflation or inflation? And that's kind of the debate going back and forth, and for the average person I think they just have to look at the entire Connie as supply and demand. So the supply is how much stuff do we produce? Goods and services demand is how much money we have our our willingness or access to credit to go out and buy the stuff so as most people know or were in lockdown. Depending on what state you live in what city so there's a lot less demand. There's a lot less. Of the goods and services that are actually being purchased, so that decreases the demand equation. That's what most people get fixated on. Say Okay, we'll. We'll just. We have to have crisis going down deflation, but they forget about the supply side of the equation, because if the people can't go out to produce goods and services well, the supply will go down fast as well so then the question becomes what's going down faster, demand or supply will then you look at the supply chains that have been? been disrupted coming into the United States. If you go to Walmart target home, depot, the majority of the stuff you see on the shelves was produced outside of the United States. So those supply chains get disrupted. That means less supply. Then what happens is usually going back to bally's example of long-term debt cycles. You get social unrest and I hate to say that, but that's just the reality of the situation. If you look at history and typically the way, the politicians take care of social unrest. Is Through Helicopter Mike. So whether you want to call it, M., T. Ub. It doesn't matter. It's basically the government spending money into the real economy. Getting into the back pockets of the average Joe and Jane, we could see a situation. The future of the Fed is actually doing it. They're not technically allowed to do it right now, but they've been breaking all the rules, so if there's more money in the pocket of the average person that means, there's more demand even though they're sitting at home, not going to work for those goods and services in the economy that don't require debt. That's key cam because people see deflation in inflation is just this. Binary right, it's either one or the other, but it's actually very nuanced, so there's less debt and a system that means. Asset prices could go down or via cars anything that most people by using debt okay, the price of those but anything people by our most goods and services people buying a daily basis that don't require such as groceries. Those prices typically go up on CNBC the other day that in a lot of markets around the United States food prices are up as high as twenty five percent. It's already starting this happening in real life. What's happening because of the corvette or whatever they call it? The meat packing companies are shutting down. And so there's now shortages of made a what what? So. Simple of supply decreasing faster than demand. What's happening in the Fed is pumping trillions of two point two trillion into the common, so you have a decreasing supply increase liquidity. And, that's why the shelves are empty for pork and beef and all those things. and. Arab spring which I. Don't forget when that happened. The real rioting wasn't about Muslims or Christians, and all this Arab spring was because. Mom and pop couldn't afford to go to the store food prices went. By. And I. think that's what you're saying is when people get hungry, the can't afford food. That's when the social situation gets worse. Hey. I'm Andy. If you don't know me, it's probably because I'm not famous, but I did start. A men's grooming company called Harry's. The idea for Harry's came out of a frustrating experience. Ask You shall receive I know people that ask and ask and ask and nothing happens. Because the asking is not done with the voice. When we lost the texts when we lost the words in our biblical texts that tell us that feeling is the prayer. We began to believe that the words of the prayer that if we say the right words the right time of day. Or the right number of times that somehow magically prayer will happen, and when our prayers not answered, we become frustrated and we think prayer doesn't work the science that tells us that we are connected to everything in our world, and that the language of our heart is a language that affects our world number-one that all matter is connected number two that there is a field of energy. That exists in what we used to think of is the empty space. This field is called the divine matrix the field. The Mind of God. Nature's mind. Quantum Hologram all different names for this field number three that when we create the right feeling inside of our bodies in our hearts. that. We make changes in the field. Beyond our bodies. It's a baton monastery seventeen thousand feet above sea level in the Himalayan mountains. This man is telling us. The secret was lost in our Christian and Jewish traditions when the edits were taken in from the books and they practice, and they live. This feeling is the prayer. The words are not the prayers. The feeling is the prayer. Feeling is the prayer. This is what is taught in those Tibetan monasteries, the monk snort the nuns. No, it they have taught it. They have practiced it for thousand seventeen hundred years. There's a catch, not just any feeling creates the desired effect Rumi says out beyond the ideas of wrongdoing and right doing says out beyond our place of judgment of right and wrong. There's a field room even calls the field. He said there's a field. I will meet you there. What is this place? The place where the feelings occur that create the healing, and the miracles is a place that is beyond judgment in beyond ego. It cannot happen in the mind that must happen in our hearts one word. In Cherokee traditions that means single I of the heart, the one I of the heart that sees what is not the judgment or the bias or the fear. That word is Shanti Easter. That is the part of you where your power lives to heal your body to heal the bodies of others to create peace in your world. It's in the place beyond judgment and beyond. Beyond Ego, what is the force that connects everything in the universe? Compassion is compassion unexperienced that we feel in our heart, or is compassion, the force that connects the universe that you and I are capable. We can have a feeling in our hearts. It's the feeling that the universe is made of compassion is both the force that connects and the feeling that we experience. Experience and that is what makes compassion so very powerful. A lot of compassion is the ability to see the world for what it is rather than our judgments of we make it so the ancient instructions. How do we do this? The instructions are very precise in the Buddhist traditions, and what we're finding in Tibet number one. They're saying that to create the healing to create. Create the peace to create the miracles I. We must feel as if the miracles have already happened without judgments without ego, and that's hard for the Western minds so i. we must do this to feel as if our prayers have already been answered without Judgment Without Ego. How many have heard of the lost? Gospel of Thomas The Lost The gospel of Thomas is powerful. Because it is believed to be the actual words of Jesus as he was teaching those around him how to use the power of human emotion in his life to unleash the force of the Divine Matrix in our lives I. We have to understand how it works, and the science tells us how it works. Secondly we must speak the language that the divine matrix recognizes, and science cannot tell us that that comes from our past from our culture from our history. From those who have learned in use this language for thousands of years. What did Jesus and what did the Great Masters say about this this language? because. It's the same whether you're talking. Buddhist or Hindu or Christian pre Christian traditions. They're all telling us that there is a field of energy and we have the language to use that field. This is an actual page out of the Gospel of Thomas in the Gospel of Thomas. To, very important keys, this was written the around three hundred years after the time of Jesus we must. That feeling is the prayer one too that we must feel as if our prayers have already been answered any GYP Sion Monastery with the tax that used to be our tradition before they were edited. And we're going to look at the instructions that tell us how to do that. Gospel of Thomas. If you have a copy of the Gospel of Thomas, this is verse one hundred and six translated from the Nog Hamadi Library, it says when you make the two. Fought and emotion one. You will say to the Mountain Mountain move away, and the mountain will move away, saying that when you can marry your thoughts and your emotion into one single potent force. That is when you have the power to speak to the world secondly. When you make the to one the to thought and emotion, when the to become one in our hearts, we create the feelings in our bodies. When thought passion become one. The Gospel of Thomas Another verse now this is Verse Forty Eight. It says almost the same thing. This was so important. Did, it was recorded at least three different times in the same Gospel look at what this says if the to make peace with each other in this one house, when Jesus is talking about the house or the temple. What is he talking about? Precisely you? You are the house. You are the temple. If the to make peace with each other in this house, if thought any motion, become one, if they make peace with each other in this house, look what happens, they will say to the mountain. Move Away, and it will move away. He's telling us again. In a completely different verse how powerful it is to marry, thought any motion, but they still haven't tortoise. Tortoise how how do you do this in the early Christian? Bible Your Bible today, there is a passage how many have heard ask and you shall receive. Have you heard that before? The asking is not done. Please please bring this to my world. That's not asking to ask. We must speak to the field to the divine, Matrix in the language, the field recognize. In a language that's meaningful. The field doesn't recognize our voice. It recognizes the power of our heart. Our heart we have a feeling creates electrical waves magnetic waves. That's the language the field recognizes so when you create the feeling in your heart, as if your prayer is already answered, that creates the electrical and the magnetic waves that bring that answer to you. They took out the two sentences that tell us how to ask into the original Aramaic it begins. It looks very similar. So, this is the re translated version with the missing pieces. All things that you ask straightly directly from inside my name, you'll be given. It says so far. You've not done this because if we ask with our voice, we have not done this. Ask without hidden motive and be surrounded by your answer. Be enveloped by what you desire that your gladness be full. It's not saying to speak a word. It's saying to be surrounded to feel as if if you are surrounded. You are feeling as if your answer has already happened. Be enveloped by what you desire because that is when you are thought in your emotion, become one. You think the thought of the healing in your loved ones, and you feel the love of that thought they become one, and that is the language this field recognizes. This is precisely with the Buddhists are telling us. Ask without the judgment of the right, or the wrong or the good or the bad asked without the ego. Ask from the heart feeling from the result as if it's already happened. That's it for the power. Half hour on this, said Saturday. A hundred and four degrees out there. I'm staying inside. "Eh. Free Talk Live. You can bring up whatever you want here. The toll free number is eight fifty five four fifty free like freedom. That's eight five five four five zero three seven three three. We have the discord call in line. Rooms they're over at discord dot L. R. N. Dot. FM You top into one of those and you'll sound almost like you're sitting here in the studio with us and with you tonight. You've got Ian me the Captain Ed me Mark So Coming up here lots to talk about. I've had a story about uber of their back in the news. There's another lawsuit once again. that's been filed against them by some upset drivers who want to be considered employees rather than contractors. And this is a situation. We've been following here on the show for years. I like what Uber and lift have done to upend the transportation business to challenge the taxicab companies and bring some much needed innovation into that space. Now captain kick ass. I know that you you are from Seattle. Big cities like that imagine. They have quite a bit of Uber. Options the the difference between Uber around around keen or area of New Hampshire. You've done both Uber. Uber and Seattle is a significant difference in Seattle. You can call up Uber and and will literally be there in a minute. Yeah here. There's you know oftentimes away to the half hour. So yeah I think the most host I've ever seen on the APP in Keene New Hampshire which where we broadcast from was to two cars to think. That's all because you know they show you where the cars are There may be a third. I don't know I don't know if it shows you. Does it show you the cars if there's someone in the car meaning would it show you the car because I would think it wouldn't. I would think that it would show you only the The vailable right guess too. But I I don't know so if you WanNa comment maybe super driver and you have an opinion about whether or not you want to be considered a contractor or an employee because it's back in the news after Uber has already fought against the state of California criminal gang known as the State of California on this particular issue and in fact there's even a different story that is related to this Headline Uber Lift Post. Mates refuse to comply with California's GIG. Economy Law Nice. So we'll get into that as well but right now from NBC News. A group of current and former Uber drivers are adding to the legal challenges facing the ride hailing company with another lawsuit disputing their status as independent contractors tractors more than thirty current and former drivers were named as plaintiffs in a lawsuit filed last month in federal court in Wearing California San Dan Francisco of course where a judge is already hearing at least one other proposed class action suit and threatened up that threatens to upend the business model. All of Uber and Gig work companies. Like it the drivers alleged that under California law they should have been considered employees not contractors at least since two thousand eighteen ruling ruling from California Supreme Court that ruling sense written into law by the state's legislature laid out the criteria for determining whether a worker is an employee or contractor and. I'm curious to what these employees that can show up anytime they want are hanging their hat son. Yeah well right right. Yeah and when we talked about the California's that may be the very worst thing for these dudes if they become quote unquote employees of Uber. Oh yeah well now you got to schedule. A shift starts at four well. I can't think of a ride service right. So I'm thinking taxicabs I'm thinking town cars as you know like the the classy ride to the airport type thing leans. I can't think of any of them in which they are really employees with the. There's maybe like shuttle drivers for like the hotels. I'm pretty sure they're going to have companies have employees around here My understand well. I don't know about the drivers but generally the drivers drivers have to renting a car. You mean either lease or purchase the car through the taxi company and then my understanding is that they are then contractors until they pay the lease off. Yeah I don't I I don't know I guess I'm judging that based on having seen some advertisements to hire drivers around here but maybe they're averaging hang out the cost and they're they're averaging out the pay they're calling that you'll make ten dollars an hour or eleven dollars an hour. Maybe it's not an hourly employee thing. Maybe you're right. Maybe they are leasing. Those cars curious to hear from somebody who's done. Taxicab Driving Marquess have you. Yeah I've been a cab but I wouldn't know whether I was a contractor and employees. Were you paying the least the car I know I was getting half of the meter. And then whatever tips I ahead so I could be a con. Well were they telling you on the show up. They were trying but I would leave. I I admit it made a different deal. So they wanted you to be on these twelve hour shifts so start at eight and get off at date and that kind of thing and that wasn't the my arrangement at all so the dispatchers were usually pretty huffy with me. Because I'm like I'm done and on the other hand you know so what. It wasn't the deal I made well and maybe it varies from state to state to write. Maybe taxicab operation operation. Laws are different so the lawsuit asked for class action. Status says the class maybe more than fifty thousand people who've worked for Uber Ever since the law was signed. Although the size and make-up of any class action must be determined by judge the driver's alleged they have little the independence that would characterize contract work. Christine String Golly says we live in constant uncertainty uber controls almost every aspect of our jobs but doesn't care about enough if about our lives to give us the basic benefits. Most employees take for granted. She said well. It's because you're not an employee you know part of the deal with contractor. Is You get any of that stuff. You're responsible for fending for yourself now. You were Uber. Driver at one point for a short period of time until local haters got me kicked out right so Five Star by the way you can speak to what it was like to do this particular job what I mean. What what what about? It was like a job versus a contractor position. Well having not really had any a lot of official contractor positions positions in my my life I would say it's very different. I mean you like you pointed out you show up when you WANNA show up. I think it's a very important Britain. Ask that's a huge is that you're not an employee if you're setting your own hours I'm using my own vehicle some using my own tool right. That's the other. What's another key? Difference between a contractor in employees is the employee shows up and expects to have whatever they need to do the job provided by their employers. They don't the employer doesn't tell you to show up with your hammer and you're you know acts or whatever it is that your tools are in this case if you don't have a car you don't get the contract. They're not going to work with you. They don't have have a fleet not yet now. Eventually the UBER is expecting to have a fleet of automated cars that will be computer driven and then they won't need human beings anymore. Yeah and then. The cars won't be employees. They'll just be search tools capital assets. So yeah it's quite different and they incentivize of course the contractors by offering better pricing during busy times for instance. So if you're in Seattle and there's some what is at the seahawks I guess in Seattle if there's some football game or some big convention or something like that that comes to town convention whatever. It is They know Espresso. SIP An convention and they know and they'll send they'll set a certain like zone of Extra pay right what do they call it Surge pricing yes surge pricing so you can actually create your own surge here in in Using Uber so if you go on Uber Nobody's available and then you check back on it and nobody's still available double check back on it and nobody's still available. You will create your own surge and then suffocates the market so small and then somebody will eventually jump on because they get alerts through the APP. Let's say hey there's a surge so I did that one time on purpose very cool and got the right to pay more for it though. I had to pay more for it to tell you what it was tied. Yeah is it doesn't form that the writer says hey you're gonNA pay twice and the driver was like. Oh I don't know what's going on right now but there's a surge in this area. I don't know I don't know it's eight fifty five four fifty free. That's the toll free number of you want to join us here. We'll talk more about this situation. California again it's being reported that Uber and LYFT are refusing to obey to refusing to comply with the California Gig Economy Law. And that's what is creating this lawsuit here. If these people are mad they are you know. The government passed the thing. You need to do the things they say. Say Uber's argument and lifts argument is well. It's still doesn't apply to us. Whatever the stuff they put in there doesn't apply to US up here freetalklive? She's a great choice so head over there to local DOT bitcoin dot com as we continue talking about the latest lawsuit just one of a myriad of course uber has been facing across the planet They've I've been up against various different hostile governments hostile taxicab companies and the taxi. Cab Lobby even the taxi cabbies themselves physically cle- attacking ridesharing drivers in the streets. Running them off the road smashing their tail lights. There's just been all kinds of negativity negatively towards these guys and now of course a lot of lawsuit kind of action here In this case it's California once again. Where about thirty thirty drivers some of them current some of them former? It doesn't say how many are are in which category but these people are saying. They're plot where employees you treat us like we're employees. We're employees and Uber is saying now we don't think so The lawsuit seeking class action status. This story from NBC News Dot Com Uber Didn't comment to NBC News for the story but the company has said that it believes that it can lawfully continue with the business model in which drivers are not considered employees employees despite the new California law known as a b five. And we'll talk more about that coming up here in moments. The company has said that it's offering improved benefits such as sick-leave not sure exactly how that works if your drivers are contractors curious to know about that and implementing a quote wrote guaranteed minimum. Earning Standard on incl- well also arguing that drivers are not core to its at base business. I just it just sounds to to me. Like thirty. People are just crying. That's really what drivers not core to their business. I don't know that's it. You know we don't get the the actual statement from From Uber here. So maybe they'll be more in the next story about pat but the name ridesharing suggests that I'm going from one location to who another and this service is going to help me find somebody who's going my way. I've never seen that. As part of the Uber Earth thing now it may be but you mean just somebody who happens to be going the same direction. But I've never seen that sort of. Let's share a ride. I I've seen it but not what's in the Uber capacity. I used to work in an office building near a freeway and Folks would Wait at the bus. Stop Not for the bus. Ride the bus to on the freeway but for somebody who needed to pick up the appropriate run of passenger the Hov Lane Hov Lane and stop and just pick them up to get across the bridge using the Hov Lane so that was ridesharing. Without the APP I hold on. There is the UBER option. Where you can allow other riders to come into your ride? There is that now you mean the When you have that sort of shared ride thing? Yeah what I mean is that Uber is much more like a taxi. Cab Service than it is like a ridesharing sir. I mean technically Uber. They would deny that they would say that. They are a matchmaker there so so there there I mean that's essentially what they do. That's the core of disagree with their statement that the drivers are not core to their business while cars still have Dr Drivers Record. They're busy. I don't know what that's I would say. That the terminology ridesharing is a brilliant bit of subterfuge. Because if if I were sharing a ride say when I leave the studio and head home I'm not interested in somebody who's going north when I'm going south and that's it's not ride sharing a taxicab on the other. Hand will take you where you want to go. So if you're going north sure ring ring. Let's go the meters down. Let's go north and I'll drop you off because that's what I do for Work and money but if I'm a ridesharing all I'm looking to do is share the cost of gasoline. I'm from here to there. No all I have to go slightly out of my way to drop you off in your driveway there. You Go have a nice evening. Thanks so much for the The little bit of dough because this ride home would have cost me. I don't know thirty seven cents in fuel and With you along I have now actually made was a dollar twenty five I. I've made almost a book by going home. That would be ridesharing to my definition of what ridesharing is now. I would say that these taxicab taxicab drivers that work for Uber which is a taxicab up our contractors working for taxicab APP and Win Uber Tells Little Phillips they look like little fingers and they shouldn't little Feb because that's what happened but you don't WanNa use the term taxi you don't want to use the term taxi cabbies are legal terms and they defined in law and it would be very stupid for Uber to use those terms under that under that situation that they have to come up with their own dera. Matchmaker is what they are. They're different than a taxi. Cab Company in that. Yeah there's still centralized it's still requires Uber as a Central Corporation to make sure sure that these matches get made but ultimately you have a pool of drivers who are willing to drive and some of them are logged in the market right like captain kick ass. Sometimes people get the heads up. You were talking about that earlier. And then they come in and serve the demand and then there's a pool of potential riders and all. The APP does is it. Connect one connects one to the other and it's services the driver by providing payment methods that so the driver doesn't have to have his own credit card. You know contract with the merchant services here cash. Yeah Yeah So. So that's all they really ultimately do although certainly the The drivers that are upset here would like you to believe differently and would very much like Uber. Would it be considered a taxi cab company even though they just don't operate the way. Taxicab companies traditionally have operated Taxicab companies have a fleet. They They set you know they. They have drivers who were very specific on. Its Specific Times says the taxicab company may not have a fleet. Today may have Owners with separate medallions so they may not own the taxis right. So what's the benefit to the owner of joining the company. Then just to get ride state. They sort of the dispatcher. Batra basically yeah so I did find the Uber Press. Release here since we were wondering. What exactly was that you know Uber had to say and this is from Tony West Uber's chief lawyer chief legal officer during a call with the media. This is after the California law simply bill five passed the California Senate and pass the Assembly. He says that let's see. They got a new progressive framework. That establishes a guaranteed for the first time ever a guaranteed minimum earnings standard that would provide stability for drivers while allowing them the flexibility to earn more and work whenever wherever and for whomever they choose news. You got some opinions about the direction. Things are going the direction. Some of these uber drivers are trying to make things go by filing lawsuits against Uber. Again out in California which is definitely a a weak point the Californian government certainly unle is likely to take the side of these people who are finding the suits. They've already passed a law right. It's almost as California. Wants to drive more people out. We're so productive. I think we just eclipsed France as as most productive era seventh most productive or something something like that on the planet. Well why not just go drive some of these really successful businesses out of our state and make sure that some people who are marginally employed or even worse off. Well that's what it will come down to if and we've seen this happen before in Austin for instance where Uber and lift both decided. They weren't going to be working king in Austin after Austin passed a particularly oppressive set of rules for those companies. They just they said all right. Well I don't think California things they can do it to them. the Austin but they can't do it to us. Seventy five million riders the United States Global Globally. So I'm I'm looking here at this uber. Press release about the California Law. This came out in September of Twenty nineteen. And they say that they're establishing dabbling for the first time. Ever a guaranteed minimum earning standard that they say would provide stability for drivers while allowing them the flexibility to earn more and work whenever over wherever and for whomever they choose. I still don't know what they're talking about. I did search for guaranteed minimum. Earning standard put quotes around it. Right on Google all right. Well you know Uber what what what are you know. Where is this explained? There's some sort of Page on their website. That explains what it means to have a guaranteed Erin teed minimum earnings standard. And I have yet to been able to find it if you WANNA weigh in though you know if you know like if you're working for Uber maybe they've sent you a memo or something like that That explains what this is it where they say. Well if you're logged into the APP in a city like Seattle for for three hours we guarantee you'll get this many rides or something like that. I just don't even know what that could mean because they can't really easily guarantee a certain number of rides because one of the the difficulties that Uber drivers face in a marketplace where. There's a ton of Uber. Drivers drivers is if there's too many drivers and not enough riders. Then you're not going to get as many rides you know because they they hand out the rides. It's the drivers based on proximity. So whoever is the closest driver gets the call to whoever that is the only way you won't get the call all is if you're rating is in the tank if you're not if you're not doing well on ratings they might so if five star driver and you're a four star driver captain maybe they'll give me the right the ride the one more star. We'll find even if a little further away because I know that if you hit like three and a half stars they knock you off the system. You can't go below a certain rating and keepdriving having keys episode of Black Mirror. Oh I've heard it's a really good show though what I mean. What if somebody just gives you a one star you know well? Sorry that's not going to be good for John. So can we get so if you've got enough rides under your belt one star isn't going to if you don't have benefits your I if it's your first week then sometimes you just meet a holes in life right so out of the millions of drivers that Uber has has Connected to their APP These thirty people. Somehow you know Have I don't understand the problem. They have that that they're trying to thicke. Say What benefits that these thirty people who are suing or go get a job if you'd answer but that's it they wanna they wanNA gig where they can set their hours and get benefits starbucks bucks. We'll give you benefits with twenty hours a week. I mean if you don't understand how the APP works and get the heck out of the APP but there's no reason to involve the government in you. Know Your your quibble about what you want l. but there is a reason because the government is Criminal Gang that will use violence and they can get their way if they get the government on their side. Well right I mean. And we know you know the What is the the old adage the the gun in the room right exactly And so now you know somebody else's pointing the gun at other people to try and get their way right but but the APP isn't broken. Nothing broken they signed up for to be an uber driver. They agreed to the terms and conditions when they signed. That's the most offensive part about. What is you agreed to this? You came in you asked. Hey I want to be part of this thing okay. Here's what here's our terms all right. That sounds good. Probably didn't read them but they went ahead and signed him about. They had an idea what the terms were when they signed up and got paid the first GIG and all that stuff. Nobody nobody signs up for Uber Thinking. Well I'm GONNA get benefits. I'm going to get paid hourly. Yeah I'm going to show up. Whatever I what I wasn't I'm GonNa Uber But I decided I wanted the guaranteed minimum income and the benefits that it supplies. Yeah I wanted to be. I considered as one of the people. That's going to be able go fly to Mars. Says this has nothing to do with it Ronald Zambrano make sure everybody knows that. Harambee didn't kill himself Ronald's umbrella who's one of the attorneys who filed the suit said. These drivers have devoted their efforts to making uber. The powerhouse it is today if uber won't treat its drivers the way they they deserve these thirty drivers in particular then the well. There's another one two. There's two suits now in California drivers. Then the court needs to step in and enforce the law. He says the outcome of the litigation could have far reaching consequences as other states including New York are considering whether to take up legislation. Similar to to the new law in California and New York City and New York have not been friendly Tuber either putting in. I think it's like certain minimum charges or something like that. I know Captain Kick Esther's news out of Seattle that they're raising the minimum tax per ride tax in Seattle on on Uber. They're like doubling or something like that and so it is just not easy for these guys to To do this business but thankfully they're not just bending over. That's one of the things that I do like about. Them is is that they will fight. And that's probably one of the reasons why they're not a profitable company is because they've just poured I don't know how many millions of dollars into attorneys right yeah. According to story at the at NPR they are now refusing to comply. And there's a new law that has gone into effect that is supposed to make it harder for companies to hire workers as contractors but GIG companies like Uber lift and food delivery platform. Post mates are refusing to reclassify their fleet of drivers as employees supporters of Assembly Bill. Five companies have been exploiting contract workers for years because they are considered employees who benefits like health coverage and workers compensation station. So just you know real quick. The difference between the contractor and the employee is. Where does the responsibility for right? If you're a contractor and you you take on a job as a contractor you have more responsibility right. You don't file your taxes you all that kind of thing And take as an employee. You are getting absolved. The responsibility and I'm real tired of folks pointing the gun of Government at other folks to be less responsible. Yeah I mean it's frustrating these stories and we'll continue because now the stories about how they're refusing to comply with the law will uber lift. They're saying it doesn't apply to us. It's not like you know we're refusing to comply with it. It's just our interpretation of what you've written Britain is that we still don't fall into the juristic. A this is free talk live He. We have the discord call in line. Nine rooms over at Discord Don L. R. N. Dot. FM here with you tonight. It's Ian the artists currently known as Captain Kick Ass and mark all right right so it looks like mortified penguin. Who is I believe? A either former or current uber driver or lift and Uber He says the rules are region specific to Uber Age of car minimum ratings et CETERA. I guess what he's talking about is what it takes to be on the road for Uber. There so I guess what really WanNa know is what are they saying to drivers. Maybe the maybe you're not finding out 'cause you're 'cause he's in Virginia so they may have only only sent out what this guaranteed minimum standard earning standard or whatever is maybe that only went out to California drivers and they didn't send that out nationwide nationwide But we're looking at not only the lawsuits that Uber has been facing but this new law in California Assembly bill five that just went into to affect according to NPR. It went into effect last week so Wednesday. And they say that it's supposed to make it harder for companies needs to hire workers as contractors But Uber and lift and other companies like post mates are refusing to reclassify their drivers as employees. Ace supporters of the bill say the companies have been exploiting contract workers which hey exploitation if they put an agreement in front of you and you voluntarily choose to sign it right now it is. If you're a lawyer sure well. This is about the public. You know viewpoint right. They want to manipulate manipulate public. Opinion on this so using words like exploiting it's more important really makes it sound bad now look like I said. I don't defend Uber on all their practices. I'm certainly certainly not happy with how they treated me personally. But even if that hadn't happened I'd still have my critiques at them One of the things they did right when it wasn't long after I started was they you cut the rate from eighty percent to seventy five percent so used to be that you got eighty percent of the fair as the driver. Twenty percent went to Uber to pay for their lawyers lawyers and you know and eighty percent which the driver well that changed to seventy five percent now that may have dropped since. Then maybe seventy now I don't I don't know what it is but now you could argue that will. That's not what I contracted for. Okay walkaway right. Yeah if they didn't if they changed the rules on you which they have the the right to do. Based on their terms of service all corporate term terms of services the same they all have that that paragraph that says that we can modify our terms of service any old time we want we just you have to give notice in some of them they even say we have to give you notice. Anybody who hires contractors can cut the rate they're giving contractors right at the end of the contract or if it's in the middle of the contract if they have the right to do that right they you know tell them yeah yeah. Newspaper delivery was at least nice to where I grew up largely contractor. But you're right. I think that's true here. To relay. Delivery is right. I'm not talking about you. Know The kid doing his paper out. I'm talking about you. Know getting one thousand newspapers between cities and delivered. Yes but that's all I mean. Some folks would form their own company and then they'd be an independent company that contracts contracts to the newspaper company to deliver said periodicals to whatever destinations that. That's fine and I'm actually I wonder what's preventing preventing that from happening on the Uber. If you're a contractor could you start your own transportation business and then contract through Guber to do right delivery as a business rather than any individual. Yeah probably not as a business but you could probably try to start your own transportation service and then allow your drivers to do that. I don't know how you would get money out any tough and again as you pointed. Uber has so many drivers. They don't have you. They don't have a problem with supplying drivers places so the APP is definitely not broken. It's working klay whether they would want to bother author trying to negotiate with some business to provide them with more drivers I'm sure their perspectives. Be Like yeah we got plenty of drivers. We don't need you and that's the fundamental difference at least to me. Are the freedom. Read them that you get with being a contractor. Is that you work with. That's what I'm saying. And it's not like they're gonNA change your rate during the ride. Okay they're going to give you notice and they're gonNA say all right well. It was eighty eighty percent. It's going down to seventy five percent at the end of this month. So if you want to keep riding with us then you're agreeing to those new terms otherwise have a nice day. Thanks for your service. The last last time you log out of Uber can be the last time you log out of hoover right. You don't have to go back the next time might tempt you back with you. Know surge pricing or something like that but your choice zero thirty people who've this lawsuit you know. There are multiple methods for getting things done right. Not Everything has to be done the same way right so You know you can earn money by starting a business you can earn money. Taxi Company can earn money by being an employee. These are all options this for you. Depending on what's best for you and your circumstances you don't like the way a certain organization is handling how that's done. Go find an organization that lives up to your standards. That gives you the things you want. But that's you know that's the way we think about these things like. Hey you don't like it get out there and compete get out there and create a better thing but these people are just want to sue sue sue and force companies to behave in the way they want and gets let's get sell l.. Four one one dot com did go out and create a better thing. There's a better rideshare APP out there. It's just that for whatever reason Uber's got the lion's share in lift has next bit. Well here's the reason Uber and lift had a huge venture capital late into them and they were first to market right right so so I gave her like five hundred million they really yeah and so did well right and what Uber did very wisely and I lifted something similar was was. They would give you your first ride free just like a drug dealer. I hits free. I just take a hit lint. As long as it's belief twenty bucks dealers alerts to give away free drugs. That's what they said back in the day. I know they told us. It's you know it's a good plan right. You WanNA get your customers acclimated to your product your service in this particular case give them a good experience and you know I had a good experience. The first time I was a Nuba writer. Imagine you did to marketing. We're probably took it together in like Austin at one point it was like his car's clean in I loved it was great. That's that's pretty much all. We do now with the exception of at certain certain airports where have to get the kind of like half to take a taxi or they make it super difficult to get an uber just cost less. Yeah Yeah that's the reason is. Sometimes you wait Uber Kosslick attack yes. Hoover cost less so if they if I thought I was going to that level of service at price and responsiveness if I thought it was anywhere there the last time I called the taxi On my own without being an airport with you I had to sit out the cold for forty five minutes. I'm waiting like Oh you were serious. They they never came and got me the only time. I'll take a taxi. Acceded Airport is if they're they're right then and Uber's are not around right now. There's a tax guy waiting for you all right fine I get to the hotel or whatever. The average Uber driver earns three hundred and sixty four dollars a month. Well okay average right so but what about people who are doing part time right so right I mean you you know if I feel like working one week one one Saturday a month and I'm I'm pulled into the average. How many hours? That's really the question of the three hundred and something dollars in into. How many hours ours are they making that Supporters of this bill again accusing the ride sharing companies of of exploiting their workers. The law touches many industries from trucking to tech back to certain medical professions. Ab Five does include. Certain carve outs for professions such as dentists and attorneys. Interestingly surprise the GIG attorneys have decided they need carve out to be exempt from this this bill democratic Assemblywoman Lorraina. Gonzales says misclassification is a problem throughout the economy but she zeroed in on gig companies during during last year's legislative session quote that same week that workers had to go on strike because their per mileage fee was being cut an investor was celebrating his thirty thousand dollar investment investment. The became one hundred and twenty million in one day. She said during a debate on the assembly floor shortly after lift went public saying something is wrong with the way that we've allowed these he's companies to operate unquote. Okay so the investor who made a bunch of money is investing based on price of of the stock. That doesn't have anything to do with how things are doing. Maybe the stock's overvalued. I have no clue. is she going to be out. There advocating for wage cut for the workers when the price price of this stock tumbles Yuck goes cuts in half. The legislation codifies a ruling from the California Supreme Court that established a new test for classifying workers. Super Long Time time. There's been like a national standard and you can look it up like there's a certain I don't know where I don't remember what the test is called but there's like a standard test of okay. Does the person set their own hours. Yes yes okay. That person's likely contractor is the person using their own tools. Yes okay this person's likely a contractor and then there's other things is what a few different points I don't have them them all in my head but there's a new test in California. Gonzales says she hopes city attorneys in the state attorney. General will hold gig companies responsible if they do not comply with the law Uber and lift declined the interview but they and other companies have developed a multipronged strategy to avoid complying with the law. That's eight five five four five zero three seven three three joining you in the studio tonight. It's Ian oops sorry kept. Try that again. The Reverend Captain kick-ass and mark and coming up Captain kicked out since. We're talking about driving related stuff here tonight. You've got a story about the Chevy volt which is an electronic car That is apparently subject to being hacked. And we'll talk about that coming up here we'll get into it but We've been talking about Uber and lift Post mate site which apparently delivers food. The these various different driving related GIG economy companies that are under attack big time out in California. Multiple lawsuits have been brought against them by a bunch of whiny drivers who are or a very small minority right like these are the the loud mouth minority. Most of these drivers are going out there. They're working they're getting paid. They're taking people around and they're obviously happy with it because they keep doing it. But then there's a handful of few dozen who've said WELL WE WANNA be getting benefits. We want to be able to log into the APP whenever we feel like it and also get Benny. Everybody wants more things for what they do. You know the guy the the plumber who comes to your house and says that he's going to work at sixty dollars an hour for he would like to get one hundred and sixty dollars now. It's just a market won't bear. There's competition and you know I mean the what it's quite possible to. It's just speculation wild conspiracy theory quite possible. These aren't even really drivers. They're just labor activists that went and got a job. Anybody they can do just downloaded the APP. Download the APP and maybe they went on a few rides. They had standing right. I mean there's no way to tell us either that or it could it'd be that you know. This is the less educated segments of the UBER. Driving Population alliterate are Are Not hard to defined right and so like Or inexperienced right. They've never had a contracting job. Maybe they previously had a job where there was a minimum wage or you you know an hourly rate and that kind of thing and now they're trying uber to see what it's like and most over making above minimum wage. So the people who I've known who we've talked to talked on the air with they're happy they're happy with what they're making even after. They factor in car repairs. And the things that you can't really easily you know consider when you first insurance would be. What would disturb me? Well they give you some level of insurance. I think through the APP basically as long as you have a fair you're covered by. Hi there insurance okay. But if you're driving on on your own even though you're logged in if you've got an accident before you pick up somebody that won't cover although interestingly enough when I got got a car after relocating to keen here in New Hampshire I got insurance on it right because I know you don't have to here in here in New Hampshire strict. There's not a you know it's my car I'm going to ensure it right but They did ask. Are you going to be doing any uber or lift type of activities. He's got it right. Yeah they do charge more for that. Don't they yeah. I think there's a a a fee if you're an additional pay up or by up if you're going to be Uber right because if they find out that you were obering when the accident happened they may not cover you. I'm assuming something happened at some point. I'm sure guaranteed teed. So here's here's more of the story again. How Uber Lift Post meets? These other companies are not going along with this new law. California passes a new law. Ah says all right well. We are going to apply these new set of standards to determine what is a contractor. And what is an employee and Uber Lifter. Basically saying all right. Well we don't think that we qualify. Yes sir what what are this. This is the list of okay. They're going to get into it here. Companies are negotiating with lawmakers I up to create and negotiating with labor unions to create an alternate in a class of worker. Basically a contractor with added benefits earlier. This Week Uber and post meets filed a lawsuit in Federal Court Challenging California for new new law. Then there's a nuclear California's really no never liked this. Federal Government Arrangement Anyway. How come we have to follow? All this stuff should leave. They should they should be able to So should we. Then there's the nuclear option gig companies have sunk more than one hundred million into a ballot measure to exempt them from the requirement that they're hoping to put before voters this November drivers on all sides of the debate have weighed in a group called Gig. Workers Rising has mobilized drivers demand better wages and the opportunity to collectively bargain this group lobby the lawmakers to pass ab five but others say they fear losing the flexibility that comes with setting their own hours as a contractor Affonso. Martinez says quote with this job. I have the freedom to work when I have time right. He drives her uber. In the Sacramento area area says it allows him to balance the demands of being a father to school age. Children who have special needs industries such as trucking journalism in those involved in the GIG. Economy are pushing back by filing suit in federal court but some companies also people who have a difficult time getting employment for whatever reason can do quite well with Auburn lift driving I mean they they they just care how well you drive and how will you treat the customers and how your your rating comes back but it you know. There's people immigrants for instance lots of immigrants driving for Uber and lift. I don't know what all their arrangements are. But they're making making money uber. According to the actual I'll get back to Uber's press release because I think they're going to get into it there. This is more focusing on what the drivers are saying. But some companies are scrambling to figure out how to comply in December sports website SB nation announced. It would terminate contracts with hundreds of freelancers in light of California's his new labour law. Sorry guys fired. Wow Bradley Geyser. And we'll griffith or a couple of those freelance writers have contributed interviews commentary and reporting to the Sacramento Kings blogs town royalty for the last five years. Geyser says writing for the blog isn't just about making money on the side. He says it's also allowed him to raise his profile files. Sports writer said. I don't think I would be where I am without trying to be a writer today without the opportunity they gave me vox media which owns SP nation did not respond to a request for comment. The company says it plans to replace freelancers with a staff of fulltime employees. But just how many remains on the new law does provide a specific the carve out for freelancers they can contribute up to thirty five submissions per year to a single outlet and still be considered contractors but a lawsuit filed in Federal Court by Journalism. Some photography associations argues the law violates the First Amendment while the to Sacramento area. Writers are involved in the suit. Griffith says he supports it quote if you can't hold Auburn lifts feet to the flames and the laws affecting people that it really wasn't supposed to affect than something needs to be changed and quick. He says so sounds like companies companies. That don't have the money to hire armies of attorneys are just you know running scared from this law. Sure while Uber and lift on the other hand are are doubling down. I'm just like you know what other industries is. This going to affect right. I know A majority of You know hair and nail salons those sir contracts right so yeah so you're a contractor. You rent the seats from the Salon or whatever you know that kind of thing. So so you are a contractor in in that way and there's a whole bunch of other types of contracting work that You know sounds like are going to also get pulled into this from what we've learned the smaller contracts important to take Uber and lift down and you know anything new and productive contrary to some of the rhetoric this is Uber's press release about ABC five. Which is the law that they're challenging out there? eighty-five does not automatically reclassify any rideshare drivers from independent contractors contractors to employees it does not provide drivers with benefits nor does it give drivers the right to organize in fact. The bill currently says nothing about rideshare drivers what Ab a b five does do is fairly straightforward it inserts in the California Labor Code a new legal test that must be used when determining whether a worker is classified as an independent contractor tractor or employees and that legal test is already the law of the state since California Supreme Court handed down its decision in dynamex over a year ago that legal test called the the. AP test certainly sets a higher bar for companies to demonstrate that independent workers are indeed independent under that three part test arguably the highest bar. Is that a company. You must prove that contractors are doing work quote outside the usual course unquote of its business but just because the test is hard doesn't mean that we won't be able to pass it. In fact several previous rulings have found. That drivers work is outside the usual course of Uber's business which is serving as a technology platform for several different different types of digital marketplaces. Meaning like they're driving. Food right eats They're driving people around the toll. Free number here is eight fifty five four fifty fifty free a little bit more from their head attorney. Your calls and thoughts are welcome if you work in the ride sharing economy and you want to comment on these drivers that are suing These ride sharing companies Vinnie's out in California. Of course you can bring up whatever's on your mind or maybe you're angry taxi cab we'd love to hear from you. This is free talk live This is free talk live. You can bring up anything you want here. Our toll free number for is eight hundred fifty five four fifty free like freedom eight five five four five zero three seven three three. We are talking about the latest lawsuit lawsuit against ride sharing companies like Uber and lift Some drivers out in California once again claiming that they believe they should be considered employees. He's why well because they don't like having to be able to set their own hours did not get benefits. Essentially that's what it really all boils down to. They want to be able to tell all these companies how they should do their business even though they've already agreed to the terms of service and their driver agreement tour. You know whatever paperwork Philis this mentality like I don't go like okay. She had a job. Do go find that situation. If you don't like the situation take your guess what you're empowered you have the ability to think for yourself and change your situation. It's really not that hard to find a job for best I can tell I. Mean unemployment is lowest in America's Ben in a very long time I I've heard ever but whatever getting a job Bob. Isn't that difficult if you want. Set Hours where somebody tells him with a show of want you know insurance all that kind of stuff. It's out there. But how can they get a job. They show showing down Uber. They were successful. And it's a big company. Had corporations are ruining the world and stuff so a little bit more here her and then we will change gears and get into the Chevy volt being hacked Kevin kick ass. Has that story but a little bit more. This is actually Uber's the press release so we've read the news pieces here. Which of course you know interview the attorneys and the drivers and you know we've heard a lot of wining so far and I want to preface this discussion Russian that I don't support everything? Uber does critic of some of their business practices. But one thing I do support. Is that a company. Should be able to contract contract with their workers in whatever way they want to contract okay and I don't even care if there's all these tests about whether or not you're an employer whether you're a contractor. I don't care if you are doing something that is within the the The Bailiwick of that company. Meaning you know rubers arguing. Oh well we're not a driver's company. Were just a technology company so therefore we're not you know. The driver's aren't there contractors. Because we don't have drivers that kind of thing I don't care I think that if you are a accompany and you WANNA have contractors instead of employees and you make it clear to them. Hey you're a contractor. You're not an employee and they signed that agreement then that should be the end of it. But that's it's where the government goons come in and they you know just roommate. Just don't like it when people make their own agreements with each other right so this is about ab five. which is the House House? Bill Out in California that that ultimately passed that attempts to put even more constrictions and a more difficult test on determining whether or not a person is an employee eh meaning it's more slanted towards the person being an employee than being a contractor essentially. They would like to outlaw contract work in California but they probably don't think they can get away with that A nationwide level but they say ab five actually limits. The Supreme Court ruling due to eleventh hour amendments to the bill many industries are now exempt from this new. ABC detest that Ab five is code. Finding State Law Governor. NEWSOM has already committed to sign this bill which will go into effect in January. Did last week as we learned because we continue to double bolt because we continue to believe drivers are properly classified as independent and because we'll continue to be responsive to what the vast majority of drivers tell us they want. That is what they want. Most he says is flexibility. Drivers will not be automatically reclassified as employees even after January of next year. So there's basically saying look we're doing what are drivers want okay. There's thirty people over here filing a lawsuit but here's three hundred thousand of them. Who are totally fine with what we're doing right right? Three hundred you know. They're totally fine because they're continuing to go to work. I mean nobody's going to work under any circumstances making as as much as they'd love to make that just doesn't happen that's not the Way Pricing Works Ladies and gentlemen and your paycheck is just pricing for your Labor. Her I mean pricing means that the person selling gets less than they would like to get and the person buying pays more than they'd like to pay. I'm sorry two hundred thousand according to the press release but that's still a lot of people he says. Today the drivers have control over when where and how they work they can choose to work for any of our competitors at the same time and many do and that's true you see it. There too. Lifted Uber stickers stickers. On these car and if you start getting into classifying these folks as employees. Then you've got non compete clause right that kind of stuff. That's a great point is that is that what these these people who are filing the lawsuit really want people that are filing the lawsuit in all likelihood when you're talking thirty people out of two hundred thousand are likely just plants. I think you're right about that. I had not considered that before. But when you brought that up tonight that these are just labor activists who went and got got a GIG that way they could file a lawsuit. I I think you're dead on. I think that's the best explanation that they're just morons. Labor has given found morons. who found an attorney in this case Labor's had a lot of recent sent wins and successes and they're trying to make a comeback and you know the the the press is out there that the nation's better off because you know Labor from the fifties and sixties? I don't know I mean I've heard I labor unions. Yeah Union I've heard I've heard arguments for and against. I don't know the answer but in this circumstance dance. I can tell you that this doesn't make a lot of sense so I get unions four pipe fitters. Who are working on nuclear power plants? I can see see that but I don't really get a Labor Union for people who are driving cars. which is what all of us do all the time I mean it's not a skill? The union organizers certainly would like to be a union because they get paid to just sit around and Organiz sure or whatever whether basically management they're basically thickly management of a management company in the US ninety two percent of drivers drive less than forty hours per week and talking about over here in forty five percent of their drivers drive less. Spend ten hours per weeks almost almost half really you know minimal part time on this. He says this would change dramatically. If they were employees we will continue intended to defend the innovation that makes that kind of choice flexibility and independence. A reality for over two hundred thousand drivers in California he says lastly a few words about our plans going forward we. We'll continue advocating for a compromise agreement and we're encouraged by the governor's comments as well as the Wall Street Journal that he's fully committed to negotiating solution but we're still pursuing several legal and political options including working with lift. That's their competition and other Internet platform companies to lay the groundwork for a statewide ballot initiative in Twenty Twenty Twenty Uber and lift together have already transferred sixty million into a campaign committee account and were open to investing more to put us in the strongest position. Possible to run on a winning campaign. And that's going to be tough. You know because it's California where people are not exactly free market minded in general so it could be a mistake to try to open this thing up to a vote because that may indicate that the people of California of disagreed with Uber. Lift the people of California -Fornia have given them a spanking and sent them home I don't know how it's GonNa play out or if they can even qualify for the ballot but looks like they feel that that's a good way to go with sixty million million into this campaign coffers. I wouldn't trust the voters of California or friendly note or any place anywhere because when you start asking people's opinion that I don't have a stake in something you start getting some really crappy opinions. I think all the dogs should get a dog treatment. Right now we'll get out there and by a bunch of dog treats and start hugging a lot of work with shut up all right. Let's go to the phones and to your calls and thoughts coming up though captain kick ass. You'll be telling us about the hack of the Chevy volt which I believe is their electric. Only we will get into that but first since we've been kind of talking about transportation tonight we'll go first though to Ralph in Maine Ralph. You're on free talk. Live go ahead. Yeah I wanted to talk about a surgical procedure that We all Kinda like take for granted. Nail will mutilation of the genitals circumcision. Like what's with that. I mean what why. Why are we doing doing that? Well it's probably the most prescribed for the most problems of any procedure out there I mean you'd you'd think this was a cure all for everything the the way that throughout the years All the virtues of of circumcision have been extolled and frankly it doesn't have much value at this point. It's basically a good for two things. If your child grows up to be a Hobo and doesn't wash himself yeah. It can prevent some sorts of infections in that circum- that situation so you know anti Hobo Surgery Surgery I don't think any of us have a child with the hopes or expectations. They will grow up to be a Hobo. You know the other aspect it's aesthetic. People were are used to seeing that so they're they're afraid that for whatever reason their kid won't fit in the locker room fit in the locker room or something. I don't look daddy in that kind of thing right right. I don't know if that answers the question I think you asked. Why Ralph and if I recall correctly there was a push by certain anti self pleasure in Christian do-gooders particularly Men named Kellogg in Grand Director. Kellogg cereal yeah. Those people who were really not a fun couple of guys apparently and they believed that Young males should be prevented an older males in every male should be Should not be pleasure in themselves. And they believed that at this removing of power many hundreds of thousands or millions of nerve endings. I don't know how many they got in there. But there's a lot right like you're literally removing nerve endings from one of the a sensitive regions of Man's body that they thought. Oh It's GonNa get rid of all these nerve endings. Masturbation in men will stop touching themselves. This color nails at the I mean it's baby mutilation but that's absolutely what I wouldn't put it on the scale of what goes on in in places in Africa. Okay you mean female genital genital mutilation but it every part of saying that male genital mutilation accurate and not not to mention it. It's a big money maker medical establishment set up by Rockefeller yeah about six hundred dollars. Plus and You know Around the late eighteenth century when these doctors recommended as a cure for masturbation the queen even knighted her Top doctor for recommending it and Meanwhile the Rockefeller Medical field like you. You know Herb herbs homeopathy all the other modalities of healing Were pushed aside in favor versus the what we call now. All Pathak medicine which is drugs and and Surgery I mean really. It's it's a money maker you know. What is it that has been discounted about the masturbation thing? Why are we just like giving our children to this horrible practice practice of just when they're born? I mean what pain you know what. What does that caused? Psychologically there's some International National Outfits Council of Violence Against Children who are against it the German Academy for Pediatric Adolescent Adolescent. Medicine Listen reation blow back in In the heart of Sub Saharan Africa. The word originated. And we're going to start standing up or are young boys. Get about male genital mutilation. Thank you definitely appreciate that. Thanks for the call tonight. I don't think we need to stand up with any of the stuff saying you know. It could cause psychological damage that could be easily checked and I think what how what you're you you take a test test group of people who have been You know circumcised and people who have not been circumcised and you check and see how many times they've been to prison You know what are they act doubt on. How many times have they been arrested? This would be relatively easy to see because we know how trauma childhood trauma works. I tend to think that that is just spurious stuff. That's that's thrown into the mix. But here's here's a factoid. For you all medical procedures have risk and by factoid. You mean gene s something that appears to be true but not or factoid. That is a small little fact. TAT's it's a little fact I mean factoid. Almost doesn't mean what it used to me now l. means the opposite so give me the number of what was it again All medical procedures have raised. That's right and that means some children die. Every year from infections having to do with circumcision has to mean that. Yeah Yeah I mean to presume otherwise sounds like a pretty pollyannaish stance so so how how what. What percentage chance do you WanNa take for your kid to die so that his wingding looks like the what you think they should look like? In my opinion. It's a horrific and barbaric practice. That should go the way of the Dodo. I you know and also this. This is the way God odd made it and if you go and you change it you're saying that God made a mistake and I mean that's just I know there's religions based around doing the cutting and stuff. Those religions are wrong. I'm going to go on the record You have a religious ceremony. Don't cut your kid up for cares. I mean you could do it later if you want it to like. Let's get your people have to have it right. There's sometimes a kids You know the the part in the front there doesn't open up enough and so when it slides back it's uncomfortable and these sorts of things. We have a medical procedure in included in plastic surgeon the arena plastic surgery to handle Dole. That and it'll be fine. Everything's okay there's a variety of things that can be done including ointments and stuff like that to to avoid avoid it but I mean you're you're talking about a small percentage of kids that are GonNa need this particular procedure so so you don't need to do a preemptive siege the procedure that has risk and isn't circumcision. Like religion fueled a lot of from originally originally not so much these days just common now. Yeah that's just the way it's done becoming a lot less common. What happened when you now? You had Jack Outside of the Tame Right. We're just going to ask like you know in most hospitals. Is it like check here if you want to be circumcised. Because that's why I was GONNA say I can't really ask you because you didn't have a baby maybe in the hospital you did not have a baby in the hospital and we decided that we were going to go with the whole intact thing because we didn't want to take any why. Why do that just wondering ordering what happens with most parents because most people go to a hospital is at one of those things where it's like? Well we're just GONNA do it by default in you have to opt out or do all these people opt in some sort of a consensual thing. The terminology mutilation. I think is probably pretty correct. There tends to be more Less straightness in kids that are not intact than one at are so I mean you can't do a perfect cut so there's pulling more on on one side than the other and what's it to its creates some bins the toll free number tonight. We've been talking overarching Lee tonight about transportation industry related related issues. We discussed Uber and lift. And their new challenges out in California fighting against labor unions and government goons and taxicab companies and such. But now let's change Into the story about the Chevy Volt. This is the Electric only car and mark. You've got an electric not electric only but you've got an electric hybrid riber. Yeah plug it hyper. Did you look at the the volt. Did you consider going all electric when you made that by. We make a cross country country trip every single year. Not Going to cut it. And I'm not interested in trying to find plugs every two hundred miles to if that I don't know I'm sure that these are the right vehicles for some people. They just aren't weren't city-dwellers. Sarah Yeah all right. Don't commute very far. That type of thing. What do we I need to know captain so I ran across this article Because I'm always interested in you know privacy and this came across one of my feeds About spying ironically. Enough but the article headline is Washington Post packed into a Chevy volt to show how much cars are spying on their owners. So it turns out. Your car is basically a computer littered with these days and electric's of all types sensors of all different types fright. What happens to that data? Where does it go who collects it These are all really good questions that this particular article points. Yeah well I know that Our Friday night co host. Chris Wade from THINK PENGUIN DOT com. Jose Super Privacy Oriented Kinda guy like when you want when you want to get. Somebody's opinion opinion. Who knows a thing or two about this this stuff? He's the guy to go to and I know he was telling me the other day. I don't know if you were there for this conversation. But he was saying that he wants to buy another car from two thousand and five specifically because after that point they really started going heavy into more computerization. Obviously they had computers in the car around then too but they got it in. You know even more to where there's like black boxes now in cars that are recording all the data seventy-six Jimmy four-wheel-drive Dr. That's your bug out vehicle baby but he wanted to buy another two thousand five certain type of car before they put in this like Internet. Blackbox that You know they. They had black boxes prior to that. But those black boxes just recorded the data and kept it in the car but after two thousand five they started to transmit the data. Like if you hook like your cell phone up or whatever to your you know what do they call the package where you get that computer in the dashboard or whatever's I don't know what you call it. Whatever that you've got in your car mark those? Those is punch screens or touch screen car. link-up your cell phone with that whether using your Internet connection to Upload Data about you sure and so he said he wanted to buy another car so even though he doesn't actually need a car right now. He just wants to get an older car so he can garage it that way. When his current car dies you can go back to this same model car or this older under car and not have to get a newer one? Yeah that's That's smart thinking my opinion. I don't know that I want to say it's not good for them. The their their vehicles that are intended to move move. Maybe he'll drive it around a little bit. I probably idea you have to maintain it but This is from car driver DOT COM Your car is collecting and transmitting a lot. More data than you think as this investigation graphically depicts The Washington Post published an investigative report today in which it gets a a hacker to figure out just what kind of information on star and a randomly selected 2017 model cars. Internal computers are collecting a lot. It turns out including saving pictures. Here's your contacts and logging where you go. There are ways to limit how much data you're collects but they're not obvious. The paper concludes and the Tin Foil. Treatment meant humorously shown in the incoming photo won't do the trick. They do have like a looks like it's pretty doesn't sound very safe. He looks like he had his his kid. Do you know what I mean. There's all kinds of poorly done. Wrap your windshield and tin foil. Not a good plan It's easy to count up the benefits to connected cars from using your phone phone to warming up the cabinet on Winter Day. Setting the speed limits for the new teenage drivers in your household telematics can make life a bit easier. But you're probably not surprised ASTAIRE's dark side here that these upsides come with some potential downsides as well this was proven in a big way by Washington Post columnist Jeffrey Fowler. Who dug into just how much information his test? Car Twenty seven Chevy volt is collecting perhaps more important portent though Fowler wanted to see just how much information. GM is getting from. It's connected cars. They randomly chose the bolt. This didn't have specifically to do with the bolt. It said in the very first this was a random choice right so this they're doing it with the volt they're doing it with their whole line just to be clear. Yeah Yeah and I think that They alluded to specifically onstar styles. Dumb but We'll find up more here in a second. I'm always taking the brunt force of this particular complaint for whatever reason but I can't imagine that it say Google you know about this APP Ian. You had it on your Fi- it on my phone and it's an APP that basically interfaces with the automobile to help you get ways right on that screen and all that stuff. I'm doing the same stuff I mean. Let's be serious here. Who are we talking about rights? We're talking about the biggest information company on the planet. Yes they wanted. They know exactly where I've been all the time I can go look and onstar shelby as you said Onstar gets the brunt of it. But that's because they were the first to market with you know in car assistance. Yeah manage and so even if you don't have onstar you can probably bet that the guts of this system is still in your car and like you said if you connect Google to it poof. It's GonNa Grab All that Data and upload it to their cloud instead of on stars so we'll continue the story here in moments and if you want to weigh in on and you know the lack of privacy this is the the world we live in today. you've got to spend time you gotta spend effort. You gotta spend money to achieve a chief privacy and in these cases they say there's way the turn you know certain ways to turn this stuff. How do you really know? You know one of the most private accident. Somebody commits going to the bathroom. Aside from specs I guess right but and This all came from Actually have a child. Abuse Charge. Sounds terrible but what happened happened was I was out at Denny's eating with my daughter. I was high on weed the people who worked there. He says there's a good chance you're high on we threaten. Sorry go ahead right Oh yeah but Yeah so the apparently the thought I look stoned and they called the police the police. He's came there asked me I said yes. I have had some weed but dr here who are planning on driving home. I didn't think you'd be an issue because you know we'd legal and high thought. It was the same as alcohol because I was the lottos pass. And you're allowed to have a drink with your kid at the restaurant as long as you're not driving home home drunk but apparently they said you have to have one sober party there and it turned into a child abuse charge lost my you know on places. They said that they say that in Colorado. You have to have a sober party when you're just out and about or out with your own child no matter what. If you're with supervising child there has to be one sober party there with someone else who's sober. It wouldn't have been child abuse but I was at high off my but you know so many children. Yeah this is insane. I've I've not hurting hurting out. You are in a pickle and I know what you mean about the The invasiveness of the government mandated you A. It's far different. Most folks only brushes with thank you as is like a pre employment drug screen right where you go to some clinic and you know they kind of leave the door open a little bit you know. But they're not staring at you but when it's government mandated. You know it's a little bit different so wait a minute. I just WANNA know so. They arrested you in front of your kid. What happened there? Oh yeah they so what they did. was they arrest me again handcuffs. My daughter's trying Asking what's wrong child. Yeah Child House of us but they called her mother. Luckily they didn't put her into protective custody. I'm not with her mother but her mother came and picked her up You know looked at me like I was the biggest biggest piece of crap in the world and I left with my daughter as since Saturday. That was a little over a year ago and I have not seen my daughter one then and I've been working to get her back since then I'm still on you as still trying to sean. My you know that I'm clean and all that you know prove to them even though hey working with the government like I just I have to get my daughter back that the the most important thing to me but I mean he might go in there take a you a I feel violated and it is. It is a violation and the idea. The suggestion here is that you're somehow not so burr. For if you have had smoked a little cannabis and that's not going to affect your ability to parent. It's not there are I. Don't know how many millions of parents out there here in the United States who use cannabis on a recreational basis. But there's a lot of them and they're fine. They're not beating their kids. They're not becoming more violent. They're not dangerous. They're or not and as you pointed out you weren't driving you. What did you walk there? How'd you get there? Yeah I lived right next to the denny's we walked there and we're going to walk back home right so there's no risk whatsoever. You'RE NOT GONNA lose trauma. God where'd you go. You know you're not gonNA lose drag your daughter or something like that just because you've had a little bit cannabis but here's what I want to recommend to everybody out there and again I'm not an attorney So this isn't legal advice but my recommendation based on my experience is do not answer these. These people's questions you basically talk to your way into an arrest in that circumstance because you were honest with those cops thinking Oh there's no problem I'm here well turns out you didn't know what all the laws were and Well you told them what the truth was and they went ahead and punished you. That way you're guilty whereas is you could have said. These officers are talking. They medical professionals. How could they possibly know whether I was stoned on? You could have said I don't ask questions. Well leave me alone it with a huge mistake and as far as tell them how much edible eating um which in the report they said that was equivalent to a keg of beer in there. I have no idea what God thirty milligrams which is nothing for me but yeah so my advice. My advice to you is be very careful in in you know tread carefully because now you have family court involved right. It's because there's a child got involved. Now you have family court involved in all of the courts United States of America that family court is the least responsible and the most powerful without hardly any oversight. So it'd be very Andrew feel free to let us know if there's any other developments of interest in the case. All right let's go back to your calls and thoughts and then we got more on hacking your car coming up here in a little bit. What data is your car collecting on you? We'll talk about it. But first we've got Alexander ZANDER calling in. He is on the line all the way from the Mariana Islands. A good afternoon. Alexandra what what time is it over there. Yeah it's about one twelve twenty pm. Twelve twelve so hauling high noon. Yeah I heard that last call was absolutely the heart-wrenching here will happen that that call it and it just made me think about how important it is to keep your privacy up and make it as hard as possible Ospel for the government Infringe on your rights and in regards to. I suggest all your listeners. Look into window tinting laws in their area Since all Americans are driving around most of the day to get to work go on errands having increased window. Tanking Really Improve Your privacy on the day to day basis for different between getting pulled over and not some states are pretty restrictive on this. New Hampshire is not a good state when it comes to window photinia. I believe there's no tinting allowed. If I recall correctly on the front windows you can have tinting on on the like the rear seat windows this but maybe the back windows. Well I'm not an attorney and I have not researched this Closely I know. That's better in Florida. And what's what's the the Law Marianas. There isn't a law suit mentioned that the whole thing. It's not very safe. It's not my car completely blocked out now. I feel so much better both the UV protection and more importantly the privacy. This is just to be clear. You already got a car. You've been down there to two weeks. You already snagged a car for yourself. This went onto the local facebook bye and sell group negotiated with a Chinese non-citizen but Chinese resident hair picked his car. Signed it over. It was pretty easy process. All in all I went and looked for a Mariana Islands craigslist and was unable to find it What they use a facebook like to keep personal? They don't want all those craigslist scammers on their instead. It's tied to your personal. It's much safer and more trust asked and I don't want to be getting back on facebook. Tell you that I've been off facebook for two years although I gotta say that people really do seem to like the facebook marketplace replace. I've heard a lot of good things about like Aria needed a skateboard. She went on their found one. No time cheap thirty dollars skateboard. Or whatever got her what. She That she needed and she got it fast. So it sounds like it's probably one of the better features that they've got so so you bought. This car was like an American car Japanese car because the Mariana islands are like almost to Japan and China. Like it's in the Asian Asian Pacific or whatever so like what kind of car was it. But a Nissan Car Japanese car so upping. His cars are the cheapest and have the most availability for parts in they do sell GPS and enforce and all the American class now So you bought a used car and did it have like is the steering wheel on the left side of the car or is it on the right side. If you're sitting in in looking out the front of the car this same as everywhere else are looking. Okay Yeah I don't think there's any place in America where you drive on the wrong side of the road. Sure in you. I presume that also means you're driving on the same side of the road as you would in the United States. Yes that's correct. Yeah it's I don't want to give people the wrong impression although the the freedoms might seem like those better than the US Asto the US. Yeah well I mean but as you pointed out before the The crypto Frontier Crypto Frontier Dot. Org that's this project of migrating crypto the people to the Mariana Islands. You've you've argued that it is probably the freest of all the places in the United States. Because it's not quite you know it's not a state and so it doesn't have the same overbearing. Federal level of invasion. I mean the feds are there. There's no doubt about it But that's not quite the same. You've pointed out that they have looser immigration rules. More people can come there without as much trouble for instance yeah One regards to your your federal comment the federal presence measured by expenditure at least is the lowest of anywhere in the US so about at sixteen million dollars a year of federal spending which is lung. Watch much lower. I believe New Hampshire is over one hundred million. Wow there's a big difference. Federal spending there is a D. H. S. and the TSA instead of having hundreds of each agent you'll have a couple the FBI field office is not even a handful of people here. There is a federal presence. But it's much smaller. You feel that the lack of regulations relations with the lack of taxes the lack of many other things that I don't think the feds control window. tinting those are generally state related laws but it is good to know that there are no regulations on that. So do when you went. You got your window tinting. What percentage did they don't they rate percentage of light that that is allowed through yet? That's how they sometimes stewart the place I did. They had like a medium and guard and darkness are blocked out. You can't see anything in probably a legal. I love it. Yeah all right anything else you WANNA share update. Yeah that You should look into tenting laws in your state. It can make a big difference privacy and if you're fed up with the the lack of ten freedom you know where to come there you go. Thanks Alexander Crypto Frontier Dot. Org is his website. By the way. I did Sent out an announcement mark that you are. You're on your second to last. Show from New Hampshire on Free Talk Live your ass. Show is going to be on Wednesday night and then you're leaving leaving I to Hong Kong for a few days a week maybe not even not even And then you're going to be going from Hong Kong to the Mariana Islands where you will be making a home for yourself there for some indeterminate period of time right. I mean I don't know exactly what's going to happen to the Mariana Islands. But I've seen the case made that it could be a very free place and it'd be a great place to attract people who are interested in creating a crypto cluster and perhaps Some adoption so. Yeah I'M GONNA go check it out. We've created a chat chat room on our discord server. I've seen Alexander in their answering some questions. Not Everybody is friendly. Of course on the dischord servers. So you're going to get Some viewpoints that are gonNA be challenging But it's a good place to go and kind of talk about. We've been talking about the internet connectivity which is surprisingly good out there because like a bunch of lines go into Guam and the Marianas are just to the north of Guam. There's really good internet connectivity. There's as well we got more coming up here. Thanks Alexander. It's free talk live. It's Ian Yup. You noticed cat cat them. Before united trying to silence dissent seems anti EU. It's captain kick ass everybody edmark. So let's get back into your story. Captain you brought in this piece out. It's talking about the Chevy volt but they admitted the first paragraph that that was randomly randomly chosen as the car where they looked closely they. They hired a hacker at the Washington Post and said we want to know all about the data that this this car is collecting. And so it's not just the volt it's going to be not probably every car in Chevy's line and probably the Toyotas and probably the Nissans and probably everything out they're likely at this point whether it's government mandated or just the direction the industry's going in. You better expect that. There's some kind of computer watching you. Yeah for sure From using using your phone to warming up the cabinet on Winter Day to sitting speed limits for teenage drivers telematics can make your life easier. But you're probably matic's that's a new word for me. Maddux ex. Yeah Yeah it's the ability t. e. l. e. yet just like you think it s Can make life easier. But you're probably not surprised to hear that these upsides come with some potential downsides. Define it here. If you don't mind. telematics is an interdisciplinary field that encompasses telecommunications Sion's the technologies for instance road transportation safety electrical engineering and computer science so yeah computers in cars right And this was proven in a big way By Washington Post columnist Jeffrey Fowler We've been over this already The reporter made it clear clear that this is not a volt thing or chevy thing right. Nearly all new cars now have connectivity including onboard Internet connections For now exactly what information goes where is a bit of an unknown by anyone other than the automakers themselves as Fowler writes. My Chevy's dashboard didn't say what the car was recording doing. It wasn't in the owners manual. There was no way to download it to figure this out fowler. Had someone hack into the volt. He discovered that the car was recording details details about where the car was driven and parked call. lugs identification information for his phone and contact information from his phone. Right down to people's addresses is eagles and even photos. Wow well that sounds so bad until you realize. That's true for Google for everybody right so you've got your phone like Google knows all that information about you already so you. It's just oh and apple. A different corporation is trying to mind your data. Well they're mining the data data. That's captured on say a Google device that you've connected now to your car and now both entities have all that information correct replicates right it in another example of follower bought a Chevy infotainment computer on Ebay used I presume and was able to extract private information from it about whoever owned it before him including pictures of the person the previous owner called Sweetie Unquote MHM while GM subject of follows experiments. It's not the only company collecting data on its drivers now. I suspect not in two thousand seventeen the. US Government Accountability Office looked at automakers and their data privacy policies and found that the thirteen car companies it looked at are not exactly using the best practices for example while automakers say they obtain explicit consumer consent before collecting the data the. Gao says that they offered a few options. Besides opting out of all connected vehicle services to consumers who did not want to share their data. Yeah I find that a lot of this What was the the term that they called it telematics? Hello Matic's really. Isn't that great when it comes to the car for me. The as far as your experience is the best feature here. I found sort of new cars. Is this adaptive cruise control. So you can have you can set a cruise control on my car at fifty five or whatever and and as low as twenty five and I don't know how high you can go and it will go that speed until it finds an obstacle and a little you know. Stop Stop Ish like if a car is in front of you. It'll slow to the speed. That cars going forty. It'll slow to forty and then if that car turns off it'll speed back to fifty five. I've I've had the car in front of me. Come to a complete stop at a stop light and then the vehicle and then start going again and my vehicle picks back up and goes forward. Pretty Handy it's nice. I mean it's almost driving itself at that point. It could definitely save somebody from an accident. That's for sure okay. So these companies companies are collecting. This data no doubt about it. I mean it's almost to be expected at this point in technology in time. But what about the government. I mean here. I think it's ironic that you have a government accountability office talking about how bad these companies are. When in point of fact that it's probably the government that has mandated a lot of the technology? G Go into these cars and further. They certainly will utilize this technology to do things like gather your data about you if they are trying to collect data on on where you're going and what you're doing with your car. They've got a warrant to track you. They'll get all they'll get access to all this stuff and and then they'll use it against you. Yeah it's the whole privacy. Thing is the a delicate balance between you know convenience and ease of servers more balanced right. There there's no more your balance out there. It's all you have no privacy basically by default in this world today if you want to try to have more privacy well you got to put in some more time and effort of effort. Yeah how do you undo the Google Web. I mean get a flip phone or something like that right. You'd have to really. I'm just check it whenever you you know aren't using it drive to a different location when you want to use your phone or you can't use payphones for the most part they don't exist anymore. Yeah the only way is to set up your account like let's say you've got an android phone so you're going to be using google. You set up a new G mail account You you literally burn that phone and do nothing with it and it could personally identify and delete that Google address that used as to create that or a series of hard resets on your device. Oh it's Tuesday time. Too hard reset might've back to factories so that wipes out all the crap that's on there but all that's it's been store at anyway somewhere you know so you can't really get away from any of that when it comes to be in googled I mean at this point you just moved Zim Bob Way. Get a flip phone. I mean if you want privacy other than that it's gone GM's Onstar privacy. Page makes it clear that the company may use your information to improve the quality safety the insecurity of products and services to develop new products and services and for marketing quote unquote in response to car and driver's request for comment for this article. GM spokesperson spokesperson said. Nothing happens in terms of connected services without customer. Consent consented consented to it. Okay wait a minute you mean that thing where it said you agree to the terms and service or terms and conditions that you hit okay or accepted on that. No one actually reads needs. That's what they're talking about when you buy a new car and I have never purchased a new car so neighbors but when you buy a new car and it's got all the new fan dangled gadgetry and Internet Senate connected Yada Yada. At what point do you click. I agree probably the first time you turn it on a Ula like I've never seen that. Come up in a car because you weren't a new car by But that's the other thing if the other person who bought it opted in and then you buy it used or you get into the car and you're borrowing it or whatever you're not giving the the terms arms of service you just plugging in your phone and boom. You're connected well. Even if they have a new terms of service every time you plug your still read it would make a difference it those things. Don't make a difference. They've done that studies on it where it says you've given you a firstborn child and your soul to Satan sold like a whole variety of things and people read that stuff and as I pointed it out earlier in the show tonight. It doesn't matter if you read it because they can change the terms of service at any time and some of the terms actually say they can change them without notice. Yeah frequently they'll give you notice like shoot. Should you need male or whatever we're updating our terms and your continued usage of the car is your continued agreement that you agree with the new terms. That's what I'll say perpetual auto Renault. There's more coming up here if you WANNA share your thoughts on tracking his. There's also even more sinister started sided and it's free talk live. You can bring up what you want here in knees remaining moments we have enough time for you if you dial in now. Our number is eight fifty five four four fifty free like freedom. That's eight five five four five zero three seven three three tonight in captain and mark and also want to say thanks to nick. That's an I. K.. Nick who is free talk live silver amplifier. So your choice and you can use pay pal you can use credit card as well at amp amp dot freetalklive dot com wanna tell you about divvy. We've been talking about cryptocurrency quite a bit here on free. Talk Live We were in fact the first media media and the world to discuss. BITCOIN and CRYPTO currencies. Had An interesting time of the last month or so. But I don't want you to forget about some of the little projects projects that might really turn into something divvy not only did it Increase more than the vast majority of crypto currencies. Did last year news article on that not too long ago but The rolling out a new wallet which is going to allow you to spend earn store and exchange digital money in seconds allow you to exchange between divvy bitcoin and government money right in the mobile APP and withdraw directly to your bank account. No need to wait though. Disease already offering the first one tap solution and for earning passive income with their multi-tiered master notes allowing anyone to earn by supporting the divvy network. And these are the one click master notes. They make it really really as it's easier they can go check it out. Divvy Project DOT org. That's divvy project dot org all right we're talking about vehicles. Yes and the computers within them. And how much data they're collecting. It's happening with pretty much every car company out there Is it a government mandate or is this the direction direction that the industry is moving in. Because well it's just all those benefits right like you. Can you give an example earlier from this article. Captain Kick Ass that you you can set a governor on the card and make sure your teenager doesn't go faster than fifty five miles an hour or you can tell where your husband is when you think he's cheating on you or whatever right right like there's all kinds of things you have to set up your preferences and like the thing that concerned me the most about learning about this was like you know somebody who uses more than just their their own personal vehicle right. It's your vehicle. It's your primary driver and you've got your phone and data stored in it and all that kind of thing that's one thing but like if you rent a car and you connect your your phone to that. What happens to that data? They get it all they get it all and so just to sort of wrap up the subject of the the article Says this is at the Washington Post as as summarized by his car and driver Darn Con- yeah So the author of the article says to limit what private data your car collects about you. Follow recommends not connecting connecting your phone directly to your car via the built-in USB port and also to use twelve twelve volt chargers instead So instead of charging your development in his that can capture some of your day at the twelve. O One that cigarette cigarette adaptor right he also suggested using using an APP called privacy four cars. It's the number four privacy. Four cars K.. To make sure you delete your data from cars you use but don't own including rentals souls or when you borrow one from a friend These tricks might not be enough when the upcoming five G.. Networks arrive in allow vehicles to transmit more data unless time coming coming soon to a dashboard near you. So then there's a little bit more of a sinister aspect to distance beyond the fact that the government could track you which is the obvious one. Here There's also the chance that they could stop you right like you know this was this was brought up with onstar years ago and it was brought up as a like a safety feature like well if we need need to. We can stop the vehicle if it's out of control or something like that right l.. That also means that the government can contact with the steering wheel to the Left and run into oncoming traffic in case we need to assassinate fascinates. You that's what I'm talking about with the sinister aspect of this. I mean now. There's no real way to prove that is what has happened but there are some people who believed that with you certain questionable deaths of people who you know may have had some government interest in them. Harambee I don't think it was a car. Accident did him in I just wanted to check but but there I don't remember specifically what I've what I've heard somebody say well the government could have done you know somebody who died in a car wreck like that even. Yeah I don't know what is what's the cells controlled by the cells of his body. You mean Earl. The cell was in prison cell. Oh Okay Gotcha. I'm still not in cell. Okay that's just in the libertarian. So anyway back to the serious matters here But Yeah I think that's a legitimate concern that people have and you may say to yourself. Well that's not. They're not GONNA do that. Well you would never know if they did. That's the thing it's it's going to be done and and You guys you remember that. TV show twenty four Kiefer Sutherland. Never saw anything so in that. Show an amazing amount of things that were improbable for government to do probably at that time it was a little bit for everything. All of those things are now being done though. Five three hundred. What's Yeah Yeah I would think so But like you know it was the secret government force in like because they were the secret government You know agency. They could tap into into like any cities Camera System Their bus system. You know all that Kinda stuff. They could do exactly what you're talking about like shut down a car if they could remotely hack into it some Wade through like an Onstar or whatever so like again. It's you know science fiction sort of you know like that comes to pick through is now happening and I actually just saw great movie last night called upgrade which is a just a excellent kind of lower budget action film. Home it's about a guy and I'm not going to give away anything here. It's the first scene in the movie where he and his girlfriend slash wife are going out. They got that's something to do and it's a semi futuristic in that it's like maybe set fifteen or twenty years in the future from here so all. The tech is completely believable. It's like stuff that we see being built L.. Today it's going to be mainstream you know in a relatively short order. And so he's like this Car Guy who fixes like old cars and he likes the old. The old cars muscle cars that kind of thing but his wife's got one of these. Hello Ma'am let's take you where you need to go and the the seats. There's no seats to sit in to control the car. It's one of those kinds of guys right and we know this is coming where you get in the car and you can sit there and play Yahtzee or whatever the whole time while you're in there and so they The car gets taken over by some thing or person or whatever and it drives them off the path of where they were supposed to go. They can't can't stop it right. They've realized that they've gone off the beaten path. They're going into the bad neighborhood. Association starts But anyway and there is a snuffing that so that goes on actually right after that so the car takes them to a location and there's a criminal gang that's there waiting for them and they ice this guy's wife and and they shoot him as well and the rest of the movie is about him Getting revenge and he's assisted in his revenge. Because he's turned into a paraplegic by or maybe a quadriplegic. Anyway he's pretty pretty severely injured in this This fight so he can't move anymore and he's got a chip that's implanted in him. That is Makes it so. His brain can once again communicate with his body. self-driving cars we don't have an Exoskeleton for this dude he doesn't need an exoskeleton that ship actually allows his brain to again resume abusing his body but the chip also has the ability to take over If he gives the chip permission and so the chip ends up like helping him be this like super super level hero kind of just with people's Butts essentially advice because the computer is controlling his His move that hasn't crossed my Feed yet it's a great movie. It's called upgrade upgrade. But you know I bring it up because the car thing that we're talking about here is critical. T- There's actually another scene in the movie where another car crash happens. Because somebody else's Elsa Kerr has taken over by a computer in the midst of it driving and it's just some innocent guy and they put his car going in reverse and runs into another another car. Carter kills somebody. Yeah the the Internet of things or I. O T is it's commonly referred to is both a wonderful and scary depending on the application right and end with government out there. That's what makes the scariest. Can you imagine government you know having the ability to Oh I don't know you know. Oh there's a an altercation in downtown cert- city here right and the government can just like shut down all transportation in the area. Sure what's scary Yup. and His this future in the movie. They got drones everywhere. There's constant constant drone surveillance of say the thing about the mysterious drones in Colorado. Something like People have seen these. He's you know flocks of drones and nobody knows. I don't worry about it. It's not a problem and so now of course of course just watching you. Lawmakers wants got to have new laws making all drones identifiable at anytime. I thought they already had that. Don't you Isn't the law supposed to register it with the The okay a certain weight. "Idea for Harry's came out of a frustrating experience I had buying razor blades most brands were overpriced over designed and out of touch at Harry's our approach is simple here's our secret hey I'm andy if you don't know me it's probably because I'm not famous but I did start a men's grooming company called Harry's plus free shipping just go to Harrys DOT COM and enter five thousand at checkout that's Harrys Dot com code five thousand enjoy welcome to round three of the parenting rounded up podcast for the week of September thirtieth obsessing over every detail means we're confident and offering a one hundred percent quality guarantee millions of guys have already made the switch to Harry's so thank you if you're one of them and if you're not we hope you give us a try with this special offer get a Harry starter set with a five Blade Razor waited handle shave Gel and travel cover offered just three bucks there could be lots of interpersonal problems that but I like the concept of it yeah I mean like Terry when your kids were younger there wasn't so much texting right I mean we didn't have a lot of car pooling for stuff I don't think they did did really carpooling things in are helpful to each other and then you can guess setup carpooling that way so you know it seems in one way it could be really helped a blessing and a curse in so many ways we heard about this new APP that's called Flock F. L. O. C. at which is like big group text chains painful but you know at least we have texting about something or other so Wednesday is complete day here on parenting roundabout and complaining about car flying You know and I got tired of that we still do we still there's there's a friend of my son's we pick him and his mom up for things all the time full because I'm like I said the group texts get paid full but there's already I mean I already have on my phone so this is you this app you just kind of like you create a flock which is your little group of people who and there was a situation at one point where my son's friends would have been good opportunities for carpooling accept that it it is supposed to be a way to organize carpooling serve more easily than the way I always end up doing it being all the skating stock so to add yet not yet another APP I don't know if this is the best way to go back because I yes I think you're right is nice is a nice except if somebody's generous and gives them out and then never gets any they probably the I've had that experience as a passenger not so much as a as a driver having to organize things my friend Lisa's mom would tap on the accelerator uh-huh I did like the fact that they have something in the APP where you can gift somebody like a cup of coffee or something like that yeah you can give them a gift card in time with the radio so that was always beach baby was the big hit then these baby beach baby with blurts far enough to drive and then my daughter was carpooling with another student up the street because we actually live it's there's never been a big group okay you get everybody today I'll get everybody tomorrow when I was a kid we my parent- my mom and some other people did a lot of car pooling even more there's like team snap I think is another one so I don't know like how do we how do we make this process working can she tapped on the accelerator times Nicole you're saying that you the one time you carpooled you hate part of their moms drove rice I was the only one that drove so I was I was the Carpool I was a car pool of one I would pick everybody up and take them places been there done that and both d shirt but we're still waiting for that day when will reach the finish line and have no further need to lay down a dark room with a wet rag over our eyes were quite a ways away from the elementary school that she went to and it just like it caused me more anxiety than what it was worth kids were younger the schools a half a block away so we you know again there is walking listen until here we lived yeah yeah I've had limited experience of car pooling because I grew up in a situation where I just walked to school and then when she was younger like she was in second and third grade and and it was a big it's a big school and when I took her to school I would actually get out of the car the you know the regular tax I have whatsapp or some other group the group me with us for our scared don't because we weren't really texting then and I would just be so anxious about when that person would arrive and then I'm Katherine Lecco and I'm here with cold Air Deke's high and Terry Morrow Hello Mom's of teens and young adults and when it comes to parenting talking about a certain day and kind of set things off on the wrong path so yes I couldn't do it it just there was no really taking their friends to school because their friends were all taking the bus to so even once I started taking them nobody else none of their sized also that one of the reasons I didn't Carpool a lot school and my kids were younger because they took the bus they got the The Special Ed bus rise so you know did they made their way up to the classroom and that really stressed me out because I was hoping that you know I was thinking about that Oh she's there so it just caused me more anxiety in other ways that was in the end and it just runs were have been interested in ride So then I got I just I don't know how they were dropped off or what happened I don't WanNa know but looking classroom and made sure she got her classroom and I know that the person news carpooling with just basically up to the curb and the kids attack enroll the you know one of the benefits of an APP or some sort of more organized program is like there's always you know I have actually just the ride was so long because that's the ultimate carpooling because they stop at everybody's house in the entire class or have to get to the school that was twenty minutes away and I thought you know what I'll just take them it's fine I'm able so yeah I mean I think it's one situation where there's a dad who always bring my son home from hockey because that data is a

Rivals Keep You Honest

"The host country music interview took for the day. Rebel can keep you honest as readers Manga and watching the enemy or where there's in Colorado ships that is you've got to characters who have the same basis you'll experience and training and they're basically want to kick the living heck out each other. This is what Oh cool because these two characters because they've got this intense rivalry going. They've got motivation to do. The destination possibly can are constantly challenging themselves are constantly finally figuring out new ways to apply their talents and basically are to your new ways to give up on whoever the rival is frenemy may purposes. This is sort of cool because it gives the chance to watch these guys actually get more. She'll more powerful as the enemy progresses thus it becomes a really cool thing thing for the enemy on top of that you've got people taking bets in email. They know who's been eventually win. At least in theory it's still provides a nice little competition for watchers because again you've never really sure who's going to come out on top in real life. This is sort of cool because you can establish this rivalry just like the enemy characters view this is somebody who you can face off against honest and just trying to one up on and try to get better than they are. This is sort of cool. Because you're going to be finding announced by having a rival going to be doing a lot of stuff you didn't think was absolutely possible by having that sense of competition. You're just going to be trying to do it every possibly can to be better than that other person the only word WanNa hear. You don't want to hear it in to the point where it's absolutely enemy. He just gets really only nasty territory. Everybody's really nasty side effects like pr issues and you just even possibly some actual injury jury. If you can find somebody in just have some fun with it you know see. What's the two of you together so often but generally destroyed outdo do each other's happens you're gonNA find it? Welcome to speed round Sunday on the parenting roundabout podcast where we share a mini episode from our past for your weekend listening pleasure. We'll be back tomorrow with a brand new episode. Welcome to the parenting roundabout speed round today. We thought we would ask. What is the scariest place you have ever been? Catherine you've been named place really scary. Well I haven't been to any like scary haunted houses or just the billboard like this place yeah no like deserted abandoned insane asylums tmz or anything but Scary in terms of like heights. I have been in Ireland to the cliffs of more which are beautiful overlooking overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. But you know if it's a cliff and there's no this is not the USA. There's no barriers. Here's our fences or anything like that. You can just walk right up to the end so I think that's probably my scariest Nicole. How about you? You found a scary places other than like walking through the woods. When you were a kid you know I was just say that? I'm scared. Not Hearing you tell those stories actually there is. There is a forest up in the area where I used to live in Canada in Vancouver and it was just Near our suburb that we used to go hiking in and it was really eerie at certain times to say like forest is a living thing right. Oh it was like the most Eerie Forest Sundays other days would be walking through it and it would just be a haunting we. Yeah we stopped going there because it just became too to plus. We saw that that movie. What was call that the time? Oh my gosh the one where they filmed it and they were camping. The Blair witch project so I think that the saluted the end hiking yeah. I'm trying to think one play. I don't know about the scariest but one place we were that was somewhat scary was when we My husband and I went to Russia to get our kids and it wasn't that that the country was necessarily that scary scary but our situation of being like completely at the mercy of other people for Transportation for our translations for whether we'd get our children are not for every element of our existence on strangers who we couldn't really understand. That was pretty scary. Went on for a long time and at some point. We're staying at these people's both houses and they got tired of a staying there and they stopped coming home and we were like sweet food in the refrigerator. It was you know we get so used to you get. I used to being in control of your own life and you always know that. Okay if something bad happens I can call somebody or I can get to this place I can get in my car. I can go someplace and we had none of those things. It's like the end in one of those suspense movies. Where you wake up at a gun drain? You have no idea how to get anywhere do anything. So it had a happy ending. That particular Giller Suspense Movies but as he scary there for a while and that will be a speed round. Is it parenting roundabout dot com for all this Ah.

I don't maybe five I was real little. We were driving to Disneyland. We had some cousins from the Midwest. Visiting US and we're GONNA. Take them to Disneyland. They were in the back seat. I was in the front seat. This was back in the days. Children when? There was a cease full bench seat across the front of a car in the front of the car and be nobody seatbelts, so we had this accident. I wound up wedged under the dashboard. and My mother hit the window at such force that she shattered it. So in the immediate aftermath. We all think that she was dead. My my cousin in the backseat was pregnant, so she had to go to the possible to make sure everything was okay. My Mom, I don't think she didn't have scratch. She was fine. But we always still tell this story about how she three years. It was a family story about how she shattered the chill with her head and was fine so. Hard headed woman. Every I always think about you know for free short person such as myself airbeds, both a blessing and a curse, because I'm never going to get thrown under the dashboard, but the air bags probably gonNA. Kill me so. I have never been in an accident where one deployed and I'm grateful for that Catherine of you ever been in a car accident. I have not been in anything serious, so that's good, but memorably when I very first moved here to Wisconsin, I I really think it was the first day that I had taken my daughter to daycare, and I was coming home and I was going to. You know work. This is what I still had a job that I'm doing from home. And I was like okay. I'm GONNA, get. A Chai Tea. For my first day. and. This is before we even had a starbucks. That's how long this was but we had this other little like drive through coffee place. So I go and I'm pulled up behind someone and. She left her car in reverse. Within the drive thru line man so when she went to leave, she, of course back right into me. And obviously it looked like it was my fault. Because you know when yeah, it was my front end, so would he had to have the. Bar Isa be a witness. To our insurance company doing she was just sitting. There is other personally backed. Right into her, so yeah, that was like my welcome to. City this is. Luckily the barn, the Baris guy was. As to yeah. How about you Nicole of you at a personal experience with an accident, not just a child. Yeah, no knock on Wood I've only had two minor minor little fender benders. I've just basically not break soon enough. That's been my fault. INTO SOMEBODY ON. A couple of those are not gonNA talk about them. Knock on wood. We are good in that department might help and on the other hand. He has the propensity for accidents ono yet one of his more memorable ones, but he also is fortunate enough to walk away from them, but he remember one year we just started dating and he was driving on a snowy road because of course. The roads are generally snowing most of the year, yes. He drove his truck like he hit some ice and it went off the side of a cliff and. Down an embankment and Bushes and shrubs and. Yeah, is quite the. Quite the accident, but he walked away from that and all my gosh why we was memorable because. Ours. Yeah that's scary, yes. Well. As beat around. We're going to go into a paper bag now. Hey I'm andy. If you don't know me, it's probably because I'm not famous. But I did start. A men's grooming company called Harry's. I wonder if problems with diversity is that it can get a little bit weird when we actually try to fill INS Faucet we think they're underrepresented. Let me straight up. Don't get me wrong. I'm all for diversity. I think the more voices that we municipality have the better you know it. Just enriches us as a cultured. How access Respective all these different ways of looking at things as right especially I think it's totally awesome. And fortunately the problem that he loved writers are more interested in trying to find Bryant. You told her a directed and still them and while it sounds pretty awesome. There are some major issues that you need to keep in mind before you do that. That is you should be tackling a character just because you think that your Gender Representative Younis tackle that Turkey fun because interesting because it's going to be challenged. You need to tackle that character because it's something you actually WanNa do. Not because you think it's going to feel some sort of goal in the following. Is that once. You actually start going along concept it you have to fill this Roy. And you basically create a character specifically to fill the void you create create a lot of interesting problems for yourself and none of these are good. I mean they should just be the kind of problems you absolutely should be avoiding like the plague and he's I can't stress that enough when ready store. You need to have the story come. I if if anything else comes first the story of suffering so well everything else in the book issues. Unique something basically tie everything together and that's where the story does that. It actually moves things forward and actually allows people to explore your world a little bit more on the other hand. If you read about filling the void with particular the type of person you're going to create the situation where that person comes from for the story. I should never be the case. You wouldn't be doing all these little fuel details at about two character how the character interaction To characterize specifically because of that Chris Becton so on and so forth and it never inge. Well you get so worried about that character that you forget about story you know the commission becoming before everything else so worry more about writing best re possibly ham with that particular character. If the caregiver happens me really really strange different something. You're trying to do great but don't do something just because you feel there has to be some sort of political needs to do so straight up worry about being best. I don't worry about being. I liked his tip. Anyone here a little bit more checking out a web comics from using interviews availability podcast distributed near you. Thank you have a great day.

My husband was here in the states working working and then I was teaching more than full time at that point. Sorry Admiral Time at that point I believe from what I can remember and so oh yeah I needed to have some sick manage everything. I don't think my old school district is listening being but I needed some of those days days paid vacation days or one of the very very very few things I miss about working in an office. Just that you could say that there is a structure in which you can say. I don't feel well. I'm not going to work today. I am going on vacation occasion. I'm going to enjoy my family for a week. That never happens now and it. Yeah it it didn't really happen. It doesn't really happen happened when you're a teacher either. His it's more work to prepare that to be a way than it is to be away than generally your whole program stops when you're your way so you're backed up when he come were trouble. We'll be back tomorrow with a brand new episode. Redid a bathroom. Which led to having to repaint like four other rooms which is long story but we did In one thing we do not change however in the bathroom was the blinds that were in there when we first bought our house. We called like budget. Blinds are one of those places and they came and measured every single window and we got blinds in the. You know the louvred strips of wood and ever since then we have those blinds all over in the the rooms that we want to cover the windows so just wondering for you guys is. Is it a thing to make sure your windows are covered? And if so are you a curtain family or a blind. Are you blind? Are you blind? I'll you terry. What's your story? Yeah why definitely important to cover the windows? Yes Our old house. We had blinds. That were like the long hanging strips of a heavy fabric once. Yes we have something like that downstairs in this house but that one it was all over like the the big window in the living room and stuff and here at our when we moved. We had curtains made for all the windows in this house and they were really nice for a while and now they are really dirty and they're starting the him zurve coming down and they're really looking kind of disreputable. But I just don't feel like doing anything about it. We have this great window in the front of our living room. That looks out onto the street and it has a little not quite a window. Cpa Little Ledge and it is like the dogs second favorite place in the house after his bed so she will jump. Put Her feet up on the ledge. Put a little face. Shove the curtains aside and look out so of course then one whole end of the curtain is covered with dog rescue and stripling unfortunate. And so yeah. We have curtains everywhere in various stages of disrepair my daughter. Who has the noisiest bedroom? Has These really thick blackout curtains and she room. Yeah Lot We are curtained. I think they're easier. And what do you? What do you have Nicole? We are definitely a window covering family. And Interestingly I've started to notice that lot of people here aren't like the only yeah a lot of people don't have window covers here and which I find really disturbing like I can't it it. Really stresses me out if it's nighttime in my windows or blinds closed so Yeah every when we first moved in we our windows measured in head some budget line company come in and put them in and then our even our sliding glass door. We have curtains that we pull across. So Yeah we. We like to be windowed covered up all buttoned up been known to hang sheets over windows when I was waiting for curtains. Just because privacy is important.

What comes to mind who comes to mind? Would you see as being successful. The thing with success in my opinion is that it's personal and At one level we are actually successful. Exactly where we are today because one of the reasons why we are not at the higher level financially or professionally or in our family life is because we like it here we like where we are right now and at least a part of us is happy with this and feels this as being success. But usually we don't feel successful and it's just because we failed to see this. We fail to see. Our results failed to see The good things that we are able to do the things that Other people might consider us as being successful at but we we're so used to. It may be that we don't consider that and and today I want us to to focus on that to focus on the things that were actually successful net and to appreciate ourselves for them. Think about your job. You might be doing this for. I don't know few months a few years or even neck. It's just for you. Something really normal to be able to do what you're doing but other people might consider that right. You're successful in in doing exactly that. Think about your family. Life was going great when it comes to your family life. It's possible that you had to do a lot of work with yourself to overcome certain limitations and you got to a certain level of success that might actually make you happy and make you fulfilled old. Where can you find success in your own life? What area area of your life in what area of your life to people look up to you? What do people appreciate talk about you about what you do about your life by seeing this you will be able? Oh to amplify it. You'll be able to see more of it in your own life in the life life of others and it will bring you closer to higher level of success due to even more success to even more realizations give. Thanks for the success that you enjoy right it now appreciate it appreciate yourself for being able to enjoy this kind of success. He doesn't doesn't have to be big. It doesn't have to be the way other people see success. It has to be how you see. Success may be the simple fact that you take care of yourself that you manage to learn learn how to love yourself or it can be something even bigger but don't think that your success needs to be big in the eyes of bothers for it to be a success for you and it's the most important thing for you to feel that energy success and how it feels for you not Indiana fathers so I'm glad that Successful a person like you gave me their time and listen to me. Welcome back ladies and gentlemen for the technical issue extravaganza formerly the america off the real show. I your host and we are live again. This is hopefully my last by the gremlin. Palooza gonna have to get up early and get the laptop finish put together anyway. So we're going to give the guest and miss leslie about another ten or fifteen minutes or so to finish talking about where we lost them. So we're back. We're live of things back over to the now. Hello thank you ricky Rest in peace to bassey. We all can't wait for the new machine to be up and running but pollen still rolling here. We're not sure we're we got cut off but you know we blew a few. We blew the fuse. It's so hot and heavy this conversation that oklahoma couldn't shake it. Would it be the but we're talking about you know the the the opinions of malcolm x. Hide that actually were quite similar. Ironically to rush limbaugh's about freedom about prosperity At about how. Everybody is the same in american society if you can allow people their individual liberties and let them be unleashed with their own Inspiration and their own genius and and just leave him alone. Leave all of us alone and it's the opposite of what the liber all. I hate the word liberal. What progressive socialist Ideology wants to do cheer. So what i like is call if you don't mind for you to wrap up what you saying about the other famous quotes of malcolm x. That are famous to you and to people that have really studied him. But not so much other folks and i do want you to spend a couple of minutes talking about the film a night miami. If you don't mind yeah thank you So i was saying that. They're very similar. The similarities are the education versus indoctrination. Both were avid readers. Both were seekers of truth. Both champion personal responsibility. Both champion business ownership And they both had a divergence and the would if you will malcolm When he went to mecca it was a matt. The malcolm Before mecca and there was a malcolm after mce and the malcolm after mecca was much more focused on not black versus white. That how do we treat people as human beings. How do we respect people as human beings regardless of their color right and he said there was a lot of things that he did instead as muslim that he was sorry for after He returned to mecca Both really had a focus for embracing the truth regardless of were that were that led to them right and like malcolm said if you're not ready to die for put the word of freedom of vocabulary rush had his divergence in the would as well Rush or the longest time was republican versus democrat and then there was a paper that came out An article if you will call the ruling class in america and that article Really resonated with rush recognizing that a lot of the republicans went to the same schools as the liberals They had the same teachers. They knew the same people they they intermarried so to speak if you know that a lot of a lot of families similarities and it was a difference between being a republican and being a conservative. And what you saw from. That was rush really moving away from republican too conservative conservative principles and what's best for the united states. What's best for america culminating in is i don't wanna say choosing but his Meaning into the trump candidacy in two thousand sixteen choosing. I would say anointing my man there. You have it right and and there you have it and that and that was frustrating for a lot of people right to two they were expecting him was in for me as well It it took me a long time to to come to the some of those same conclusions very but those are the those those are two men Malcolm and rush. And i love russian. I you know I wish i would have had the opportunity to them know. Just how much how much he meant to me in. My family eat literally changed the direction for me and my brothers And our our families Business owners and now we've got rush babies and and Had the opportunity of listening to his wife speak on the radio Listening to people come in or call in and share their stories. And and it really. It really touched me. Because i recognized. That's me too me too. I could. I wish i could have just met the man just to let them know how much i love them. And i feel the same way about malcolm You know and so to the movie. The weekend in miami the and if you don't mind if i can just add one thing. I'm sorry poppy hatchet at this earlier. My brother who sometimes. I mentioned on these shows. He's in music radio broadcasting He again like all of my brothers has been a big fan of rush but him extra because because they have that career in common he did get a chance to call in to rush after the election. Last year. so i think it was around late november and he was so excited that he called into him and then of course. You've sent us the clip any One of the biggest honors of my life and because soon as i knew that he had been diagnosed with that disease. Shell like the brand new schedule for the Brian and Vinnie show starting this week if you are a subscriber this is the way we're going to do it retro Ron Nitro as well so no shortage of things to talk about it's going to be crazy everybody watching call me text me let me run smack down this week and more importantly than that not just how many people try it out but how many people decide to stick with it three four weeks from now that's going to be the big question w e pay per view weeks we will of course review the W we pay per view which of course is this coming Sunday for me Helena cell so that is the new schedule so here is the raw five point preview for tonight or whatever they call it now we got set the rollins defend the universal title against Ray Mysterious. I think David geared are GONNA do Wednesday's not sure about that yet obviously the role report still on Monday nights wrestling observer radio and everybody else doing all the other shows everybody's going to go they want you're still gonNA get your Nwea you're still gonNA get your superstars you're still going to get your retro Rod Nitro and if you want Vinnie reviewing current wrestling I mean it's going to be very very very interesting I think and again this is just a smaller story from this weekend but just ads out of the pile of stuff for this week I'm GonNa try and watch everything or is everybody going to pick and choose I think there's going to be more picking and choosing than ever before and we're gonNA find out how many people try out only with new Japan and rush obviously with ring of honor the sound like they're going to have to give up their names because they're owned by Sierra L. L. but it's one of those stories tonight and if you're going to do seth rollins versus Rey mysterious I mean probably would have been a good idea not to beat ray material like drum for the past six months but for right now it just seems to be mid card issues that have plagued cml because of the changes in the way that they're doing business but depend la parks or guys like that guys who may have an impact on something here in the states you know literally on impact or a w or maybe somewhere else is that because of everything else that's going on it's going to be more news worthy later on and I think the ripple effects are going to be felt later on and the success that these two have and depending on the way that decides to do their business it's going to be very interesting and again some of the bigger names ply their trade so wherever it is somewhere else anniversary of all things that took place this weekend the one that's flying under the radar is that you're still going to get a W. and annex t presumably will be reviewing the smackdown show on Fridays with Dave I think that is the plan like what are your thoughts on all of this I think coming out of this weekend going to start watching CMO L. to see how many guys stopped appearing on shows and WanNa try their plight match probably layout ray who knows maybe he'll lay out rick flair and Hulk Hogan who are going to be on Miz TV tonight impressing although the only a four more of those are five more of those up in the WB network so that trump much longer those are gonNa last unless they hopefully will upload more of those and the deal with Russia and Dragon Dragon Lee leaving because the fact is going to have on other promotions with a higher profile in America Dragon go home show for Rawlins versus white in a cage is rollins putting the title on the Line Against Ray so my guess is that Bray interfere in the ED is tonight this is one of those debbie things I'm excited for the match hopefully the match is going to be good but there's this classic Wbz this is a big show kids probably going fulltime smackdown I suspect he's going to win the title from Kofi Kingston on Friday but he's going to be on raw tonight we have got Alexa Bliss versus Sasha banks for the women's title do I have to read this Sasha banks has been a one woman wrecking crew whatever they don't think long term so this is just like a last minute thing right here so seth rollins Ramos cheerio tonight on raw this of course is the go home show for Helen cell so the L. for one little Miss Bliss grudges with banks go back years and include contentious rivalry over the raw women's title he's going to be doing something with them I don't even know I guess just you know they're they're so he's GonNa talk to him brock listener returns to raw tonight brought pardon in other words the notoriously vicious bliss is certainly out for retribution and if the boss was looking to coast into hell in a cell unscathed again now he gets another US championship match against Aj styles because it's me ziglar Robert Route also facing heavy machinery and yes believe it or not after burying Cedric Alexander on the last pay per view and burying him the next night on raw and beating him again leading up to a raw women's championship match against Becky Lynch Helena Cell and Alexa Bliss Nikki Cross have been her punching bags of choice over the last couple of weeks after defeating Cross on Rob Banks will next get a crack at the goddess only Alexis Unlikely to sit back and allow herself to be reduced to a roadblock on banks path to win twenty seventeen for another banks Bailey seemingly injured blistering a tag team match on raw two weeks ago making the rivalry oh yeah you remember that everybody I totally forgot for the tag team titles that's the lineup tonight anyone expecting any title changes belts on the line possible out there I know a w fans are going to be paying attention to make sure he doesn't kill himself on the show but yeah that's GonNa be tonight I guess on streaming through fight how many people out there will not be watching that instead taking the alternate option Joey Danilo last show for game changer wrestling. I'm sure there's going to be a sliver of people on the air what's going on Hey Brian this is Russell in Franklin yes russell there's something about this she might have another thing coming at you guys remember when Alexa cut it out two weeks ago and then they just totally dropped it happened so anyway they're facing off tonight but listen listen listen ridiculous totally over thinking this Fox obviously felt they needed to be on Fridays otherwise wouldn't so what's unofficially they all owning they control thirty percent of wwe stock I've given them that deal right that's why they gave them a tremendous there was a bidding war between USA and Fox Fox one so TV or whatever it is against the independent wrestling DOT TV but yeah the G C W show Joey Vanilla so hopefully he'll be in one piece come Wednesday night go to the phones hey I'm Andy if you don't know me it's probably because I'm not famous but I did start grooming company called Harry's the idea for Harry's came out perp durable blades and sell them at honest prices for as low as two dollars each we care about quality so much that we do some crazy things like a world class German Blade factory obsessing over a frustrating experience I had buying razor blades most brands were overpriced over designed out of touch at Harry's approaches simple here's our secret we make just go to Harrys DOT COM and enter five thousand at checkout that's Harrys Dot com code five thousand enjoy yeah hey I'm andy if you don't know me it's probably because I'm not famous but I did start a men's grooming company here's our secret we make sharp durable blades and sell them at honest prices for as low as two dollars each we care about quality so much that we do some crazy things like by a world class just three bucks plus free shipping just go to Harrys DOT COM and enter five thousand at checkout that's Harrys Dot com code five thousand German blade factory obsessing over every detail means we're confident and offering one hundred percent quality guarantee millions of guys have already made the switch to Harry's so thank you if you're one of them every detail means we're confident and offering one hundred percent quality guarantee millions of guys have already made the switch to Harry's so thank you if you're one of them and if you're not we hope you give they get into it within the board will say well what's more valuable right now that's a thirty percent of our entire company called Harry's the idea for Harry's came out of a frustrating experience I had buying razor blades most brands were overpriced over designed out of touch at Harry's our approach is simple enjoy you're listening to wrestling observer by with Bryan Alvarez and Fox has paid for smackdown Fox's not paid for control of the company they have not paid for if you're not we hope you give a try with his special offer get a Harry starter set with a five Blade Razor waited handle shave Gel and travel cover offered scenario by that case the tail wag the dog at USA is wwe programming so wwe interest in USA. Then good the Fox is so invested in w w the evidence the flocks deal it's added thirty percent to the DOT COM I don't know how these contracts were working with Fox and WB but there's contracts doc okay that's that's like Fox having thirty percent control I mean no that's not like stock it's not like Fox having thirty percent of the control not officially clearly feels like they need me on Fridays we'll talk about this more for the breakup of life Fox deal the no one's pointing out like Before they signed a deal with that like fifty bucks double mounts about seven promoting Saudi Arabia right away start over again what what's the big problem here control of whether or not they go to Saudi Arabia they have not paid for control of WHO's going to become the champion the paid for the television show and hi with this special offer get a Harry starter set with a five Blade Razor waited handle shave gel and a travel cover offered just three bucks plus free shipping is to be USA with wwe especially right now while they try to develop some new shows that tried to take off they are really reliant upon wwe so for years TNN paid them They got other deals with the USA network. I mean it's business it's a business deal there's always some in they have the pressure now they can say hey we don't like doing we'll cut the no you know isn't that we lose thirty percents no but if that's if you're going with that measly there's GonNa be some influence like they wanted to be a big show I mean if you did a draft and you send everybody from the main roster to raw and you gave the annex t guys too and guess what if they crap the ratings or crap the bed when it comes to the ratings and Fox has to cancel them doesn't mean in the future or even while it's going on that Gotcha all right thanks so much for the call listen they're they're at war with a W and they've announced a watch along they're going to do an INEX- t I mean if there's a a really a crooked you know exchange in all of this realistically it's actually the the the one way it's actually the network to wwe and that's us Mike Zimmer Vivey on the sports byline broadcasting network back in the show Brian Elber is here Wrestling Observer Live MC semper fi also wrestling observer. Hey let's go the phones you're on the air what's going on Hey Brian it's Bj from Arizona seven so I'm going NSL on Sunday. October sixth obviously they did a one with Sasha banks on whatever day that was the day after the clash of the Nichols Shawn Michaels doesn't have a great memory about that period so what he claims happened in what actually happened like kind of two different things Louis but Fox is not going to be doing this hey you can't go to Saudi Arabia we don't like it hey you can't you can't push this guy is the champion we don't like it it's not GonNa Happen He's here and there is plenty of it Goldberg Next Edition of Me Chronicle these are pretty good it's going to be airing directly after walks I mean there's GonNa be some problems but I mean that's it that's that's the way this is w. e. I mean USA paid the thing would probably be pretty good as well and also Kevin Dunn announced that pyro is returning for all of you that Care Henry and it's actually surprising that they put it on the network in the sense that when you watch it I mean the explain I mean they kind of explain this Sean flames lasers we're rolling out completely new sets opening logos graphics theme music for both Ron smackdown it is definitely premier week and he said there are a lot of you I could not possibly care less but when I talk about pyro people get very passionate I can't even watch anymore because they don't have pyro once. ESPN show these documentaries are always great the cane documentary I watched it last week it was awesome. It's actually not a documentary it's a Helena Sell Nineteen ninety-seven document I wanted to make sure that I beat them on Wednesday night for sure I do aws earning exte- angle on Monday night but we'll see all right violence in the match there was so much blood it was just a crazy match and you're not GonNa get anything like that it hell in a cell today but it was a great documentary so I think that the gold that's what they did it's ridiculous it's painful to watch what they did back then compared to what they do today and also just all of the there was so much of closing angle with an x t guys running in and doing some sort of something I mean we'll see they can put at any point during the show I mean if they do a bray white the point of it is they show you the story line for Helena sell dating back to Summer Slam and all of the twists and turns and everything like that and you watch you get over the fact that absolutely show like I would actually be I would be very surprised if nobody from an x t showed up tonight Gotcha I'm really hoping so and then also get back to your life with CBD Medic Available Online and at CBS these statements have not been evaluated by the FDA this product is not intended to diagnose treat cure or prevent any disease show would not be a fit on F s wander would not be a fit here or not be there it's just business that's how it goes and yet ww needs to be sensitive to Fox's needs in the knee just one last question do you I saw John Morrison and coming back to do you know if that starts tonight or do they have any date on him yet no idea no idea to put on a really good show in to get that rating and everything like that but to act as though they are beholden I mean actually if anybody said is beholden in any situation it always seems pyro I quit watching well you are watching again because pyro is coming back to raw and smackdown this week we're bringing back pyro shows he says Rawda Night and as I'm a huge fan I was just wondering I don't know if you've heard anything is there any chance that any of the annex t guys show up on the show tonight at the top of the third hour they could in the show with an exterior they could switch I don't know what they're gonNa do I have no idea of next season going to be there if it were my show and I was going to war with a w this show there because you all sorts of things push that next show so hard tonight I I wouldn't be surprised if like you know they did a show that and then you think about well in twenty nineteen what did they do well bray white one on the firefly funhouse he challenged Seth rollins to Helena cell match because October is Helena sell month I mean the USA needs wwe so they don't get bubble for Fox they're so huge like this this isn't a thing we'll see how much of that is the case well it's not a bad thing that they're going to have new logos and sets and graphics and all that sort of stuff as for the first time ever we're going to have dedicated writing teams raw led by Paul Heyman and smackdown led by Eric Bischoff anybody in that division yeah so what they have their own show what what does that what does it matter seriously what does it matter all right let's go to the phones you're on the air what's going on what's up you know sometimes people remember that a lot more finally than some of the content on the show so as long as this time around the content matches the explosions everything will be just fine it is official that to five live is moving to Friday's so if you're a fan it is once again going to be airing with Smith how this is a winning concept and there really are making it even more difficult and I guess it just doesn't make any sense at all to me and what how does this help I run on Friday you can put more focus on these documentaries and things that you're doing if you're so concerned with the eyeballs on Friday I just I don't know I mean I just don't see t I just don't get it I really don't why you could put a you can make a show called two oh five whatever you WANNA call a tool get rid of the show you don't need the show these guys could be blended in to the other seven hours of programming that you have especially on Annex Times now I mean the explanation is that they don't want to burn out the audience having five live air before after annex t the crew needs to be there for two zero five live instead of just being there on Wednesday because they're already there now they're going to have to work Wednesday and Friday because two of five live is inexplicably being moved to Friday so that's the update on tool five live they had all the opportunity in the world down to a five live will make the Friday's air live and the w network ten PM eastern beginning this Friday tober forth the most exciting hour on how's it any different whether it's on Wednesdays or Fridays not to mention to a five live is going to be handled by the
