"Great now will he will no question. Thanks. Thanks much I. appreciate the call we'll be back in a moment. And we're back and we head back to the phones. This is suing cary North Carolina. You're next on the EIB network alone. Irish I remember back when Harry Reid and the Democrats were after Mitt Romney on his taxes after it was over I saw Harry Reid on a show and he came out and said that he knew it was a lie. But but yeah, that's what got me. He said, well, it worked. Didn't it? So you know they're just bringing up this tax thing on trump the same thing they they know it's not going to get him anything, but they just want to get everybody stirred up. No I. Think they are hoping their look at they. They've got trump on the brain. They are frustrated like you and I can't believe that they haven't been able to get rid of him yet. A Beside themselves. They've thrown every weapon they have. And not only have they not gotten rid of him. When you get right down to brass tacks, they haven't put a dent. He's still happy is still running the show. He's still president still doing everything he can to implement an agenda that they hate. They haven't been they've they've when I said they haven't put a dent look. there's no question that they have slowed down. The implementation of trump's agenda and they have distracted him I. Mean, this stuff is not occurred. in in a vacuum, but from their standpoint. We're talking here about the Democrat Party and media which are now one in the same thing. If they target a Republican, they are convinced that they can get rid of that Republican. The case of Romney Harry Reid. As I said earlier in the program today. told the Press Romney hadn't paid taxes in ten years had a friend of His Holiness. The president will, where's your evidence in? Harry Reid's you're asking the wrong guy to ask Romney guy didn't pay taxes one depressed knew they went and asked Romney. We've heard you pay your taxes in ten years Romney than what you're talking about, of course I have, but they ran with the story. And then it later turned out that Romney and pay the taxes in full he didn't know anybody anything and they went to Harry ridden hurry to the work then. We wanted and we. Meaning Obama beat Romney had worked. Didn't it? Well, they? They haven't been able to say that about trump yet. Nobody's asked him. You people wide through your teeth about this Russian collusion in the meddling business..

"Don't know if I just I still can't in my heart I just can't see this thing happening tonight I just can't. Buy I hope it does part of me that hopes it comes off just because of the. Curiosity factor here but again, Ebony Bowden New York Post Biden's campaign did agree to an inspection for electronic earpieces at the debate several days ago and now they are declining which which means. The agreed to it. But now on the day of the debate, they're declining to go through with the inspection. Why would why would that happen? Now folks I wanNA. Go back. We touched on it yesterday and I pretty much. said all there is to say. About trump's tax returns but I wanNA go through this. One more time because it's it's a subject that's largely misunderstood. A lot of things are misreported. About taxes in general who owes them who pays them who doesn't and why? And as you know, the Democrats used this as as a as a weapon. Remember they said. Mitt Romney Harry Reid calls a press conference. A friend of mine told me to Mitt Romney hadn't paid taxes in ten years. And the media said the Harry Reid well, whatever it is. Do you have Harry? Reid you're asking the wrong guy don't ask me. You need to go ask what Romney Romney's guy that hadn't paid taxes in ten years. The media said Oh. Yeah. Good Point. So out nowhere read accuses Romney of not paying taxes for ten years in the media starts asking Romney. And Ron. Of course, this is absurd I've paid my tax, what are you talking about but it it survived the entire campaign that Romney had not paid his taxes or it was alleged to have not paid his taxes all started by Harry Reid Romney Rich Guy not paying his taxes class envy class warfare typical Democrat weap- another during the same thing with trump but this thing is blown up on them The thing that you have to remember that you may have forgotten if you go back to the debate between trump and Hillary Clinton in. October. Of Two Thousand Sixteen. Donald Trump admitted that he hadn't paid any federal income tax for years. The New York Times had the story October Tenth Two Thousand Sixteen Donald. J trump explicitly acknowledged for the first time. During Sunday's debate that he used a nine hundred, sixteen, million dollar loss. And he reported on his nineteen ninety-five income tax returns to avoid paying personal income taxes for years. Trump's response of course, I do of course I. Do was the fullest. The wealthy developer had provided since the New York Times reported that he had declared the loss. Asked directly during the debate if he would say how many years he had avoided paying federal income taxes trump said no. But at the same time, he said he had paid hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes calling it a simple thing I pay tax I pay federal tax to the bottom line here is. That here comes a New York Times in his massive bomb of a story over the weekend that trump hadn't paid taxes and trump admitted that he hadn't. He acknowledged that in a debate with Hillary Clinton aren't we talking about this again? It's a rip Van Winkle issue. What are we all fall asleep for four years..

"Yoke Freedom Dot Com. All right. Let's get back into the show All right. So there's some other things. that. Are. Interesting. In Article So Just by the nature of the reports kind of interesting. Okay. So there's a few things and maybe this is something to keep in mind right? Trump's flat out denying this. He's saying that this is not accurate that these numbers are not correct and they're not looking at his his tax returns now. I keep this in the back of my mind right Harry Reid who was the Democratic whip in the Senate. Is the minority leader I believe one point. One of the High Level Democrats, he's he's retired now probably making lots of money doing some fucking job for one of these big companies that he helped out when he was in there but he and I have no information on that I don't actually know that that's true but I bet them right but he so he famously or infamously at least people who follow politics he. SMEARED MITT, Romney. Before, Mitt Romney had put out his tax returns and said that Mitt Romney pays no income taxes. But. That's you know. I. It was a claim that he clearly didn't know could. No but he just made it with certain day like Mitt Romney is rich and he doesn't pay any fucking taxes and then Mitt Romney out his tax returns and he paid lots of taxes by. made a higher marginal rate than Bernie. Sanders paid and he's rich it was millions and millions of dollars in federal income taxes that he paid, and they asked Harry Reid about this. Like months later after the election and they were like, Hey, you know you kind of lied about this guy like you said, he didn't pay any taxes, but it turns out he did and you were wrong. So like do you regret doing that and Harry Reid with? No hesitation said he's not president is he? So I just. After, following politics for a while it's not you know, don't put it past any of these people that they would make up a lie like that I also don't put it past Donald Trump that he would pay as little in taxes as he possibly could like I. Don't you know. I think that's A. That's that's possible too. But just the Harry I just say Harry Reid example the just kind of keep in mind that it is A. That is possible that this is all bullshit. One of the things that jumped out to me, that was very strange. Is that they claimed. Donald Trump. Paid seven hundred and fifty dollars in federal income tax in the air two, thousand, sixteen and Donald. Trump paid seven hundred and fifty dollars in income tax in the year two, thousand seventeen, and I've I've heard a couple like different accountants? Point this out on social media, but it does seem kind of strange that Donald. Trump. Who owns all of these businesses has these enormously complicated tax returns, but it would come out to the dollar to the penny to be the exact same in back to back years that seems very strange Maybe there's an explanation for that but it's one of those things that kind of makes you wonder Now, of course, he is under audit. He's been talking about this for a long time. That's his excuse for not releasing his tax returns kind of bullshit excuse he could release them if he wants to but. Maybe, there's something fishy going on there. One way or the other who the fuck knows personally I don't really care The other thing that was interesting about the article is that they claimed that they had verified the New York Times did claim that they had verified that these were trump's. That, they had access to the real trump tax returns and that they had gotten them from people who had legal access to the tax returns but it was very interesting. The way they worded it they worded it that these people had legal access to the tax returns not necessarily that it was legal certainly, not that it was ethical for them to be sharing it with the New York Times, now I don't know What you know like I don't know how many people would have legal access to trump's tax returns. It's. Like for most people, most normal people like for me like I have an accountant, I have tax guy he has access to my tax returns. and. The IRS but that's My wife you know that's it. Those are the only people who have access. Now for someone like trump, there's probably a bunch of tax lawyers involved in this also, but that's who we're talking about. Right counsel tax lawyers. That's who would have access. So what's going on here? In accountant sharing personal information with somebody else or as a tax lawyer sharing. Confidential information of one of their clients with New York with with a newspaper to clearly with the intent of damaging them politically because if so I don't think that's technically illegal. If you're a lawyer I. Think it's something you could lose your license for, but it is certainly wildly unethical and you can like. You can have whatever feelings you have about like. Well okay. But this is journalism. So even if they get the news and some unethical way, then it's fine to go and and share it because we have to get the truth that to the people on the problem would be that the New York Times does not believe that certainly when it's anything reporting, that could damage the credibility of you know. The NSA or the CIA or fucking. Like that though if it's wikileaks dumping things and they say that it was hacked and that someone gave wikileaks information that was hacked, they are furious about that stuff that being released though this is enough to fuck in you know put Julian assange and imprison potentially they're holding them right now. Right. So it's not as if they are view is no. However the news gets out there. We just want the people to know the truth that's only when it comes to. Trying to damage Donald. Trump, it's also I mean. Look. This is fucking forty eight hours before the first presidential debate..

"The revenue from the apprentice and from licensing deals is drying up several years ago he sold nearly all the stocks that might have helped him plug holes in his struggling properties. The tax audit looms and within the next four years more than three hundred, million dollars in loans obligations for which he's personally responsible will come do. If that is the case. Well, first of all I I would suspect that they would probably be able to restructure those loans if he wins reelection to restructure them to get out pass twenty, twenty four. But. I look I, get the concerns I just think at this point, they are hypothetical concerns. And also I do think we should acknowledge that there's a whole lot of this on both sides of the aisle happening how did Harry Reid? Who is a boxer from spotlight or whatever? Nevada become a multimillionaire with house at the Ritz as a public servant There's a lot of this I don't want to engage in the what aboutism but I do think that if you hate the president, you're gonNA put her to the worst possible light. If you love the president, you're going to put it in the best possible light and the truth is somewhere in the middle on this particular issue he has lots of businesses that are losing lots of money ironically appears if you take the New York. Times. At the word, he hasn't been able to to trade on the presidency to boost the profitability of companies. I mean, here's the thing it says that the trump hotel is losing money in Washington. Again I mean there there is no evidence that the president is trading this I understand there is a there would be a temptation. Financially. But we don't actually have evidence that this is happening. We don't actually have evidence that the president is in the pocket of the Russians as so many people for so many years have claimed. There's no evidence of that. There's there's no evidence that the president is getting money, and by the way, if the president were getting sweetheart deals and kickbacks under the table, it wouldn't appear in his income tax returns anyway and it would raise all sorts of red flags if it floated to the bottom line unaccounted for and we can't find it in there. So yes, I get people's concerns I, do I don't want to be dismissive of the concerns. But I do think that a lot of the concerns come with hyper partisan lines from people who just don't like the president and can acknowledge that the there that they think is there isn't actually there and that this is a common pattern among business people to deduct losses and to personally take responsibility for losses to be able to offset, the to be able to offset the losses. To benefit themselves in other ways I, I'm not a tax lawyer. I believe we should have a flat tax that we should have super simplified taxes I. think there are too many opportunities in the tax code for people who have enough money to hire enough lawyers to be able to navigate themselves through A. Financial advantage if you want to understand the wealth gap in this country, the reason the rich keep getting richer it outpacing everyone else has a lot to do with the tax code. It has a lot to do with their ability to hire lobbyists to carve out special interest from themselves in..

"Million dollars in debt. To home different countries, what is the leverage they have? So for me, this is a national security question. The question is, what does Putin have on the president politically personally financially in every way that the president would try to undermine our commitment to NATO? Okay this is just This is so tiring. This kind of crap is attack and then MSNBC has on the greatest of all political analyst, a person who wants played politician on TV in we're now beyond the point of parody. Mean do you remember there's a commercial back in the nineteen seventies in which a guy who played doctor General Hospital led off the commercial by saying I'm not a doctor but I play one on TV cable. Now he got Jeff Daniels who was not in fact a newsman but played one on TV. Now, he's talking about his theories about trump's taxes because we need to hear from Jeff Daniels. Okay. Here's Jeff Daniels on that great news network MSNBC. Talking about in Helsinki what were you know all the stuff I mean? There's there's all of that the tax germs that he won't show us. It's so obvious and where is he getting the money? Where did he get all the money and and I mean all roads as as a speaker? Pelosi, said, all roads lead to Putin and You know time's running out. This is a bad movie where living through. That's what it says Winston Life and death. I mean honest to God. He really should. But that that is that is very solid stuff right there from Jeff Daniels definitely needed to hear from from that guy from the dumb and dumber guy I need to hear from him right now get them online stat. We need to hear from Jeff Daniels right now stat on trump's taxes. At. The final angle of courses that trump is four then he said he is and that's really bad again do I think it looks good for trump to pay seven, hundred, fifty bucks in taxes over the last couple years no I don't but wouldn't matter. They went after Mitt Romney and said that Mitt Romney didn't pay his taxes you pay fourteen. percent effective tax rate Harry Reid's lied about it is any of this going to make a serious then for trump probably not is it gonNA come up tonight probably but again, did you I, think it's that the media are going a dog over this thing and I'm just like why you don't have enough material against trump you gotta go to this seriously. Okay meanwhile in other news. President trump has been saying for a while here that he is deeply concerned about voter fraud and about the possibility of voter fraud well practiced Veritas has released some videos alleging widespread voter fraud in Minneapolis they are blaming representative Ilhan Omar. They're suggesting that she is to blame for some of this. They apparently got a hold of a person who was involved in Doha. No Mars, get out the vote effort and the suggestion is that they have basically been paying people for the roads according to twin cities, dot com, the pioneer press a report by the non-profit. report by the non-profit. Suggests that the mishandling of absentee ballots in Minnesota in Minneapolis Somali community is is now making news and it and it should here's a little bit of the video from Project Veritas. Again, this is being now checked into apparently by the state authorities in Minnesota. So we will see how much there is to it although it's run by Keith Ellison. So I have my suspicions as to what the findings will be in any case here is the project Veritas Video.
Trump's sister criticize her brother in secretly recorded audio
"President Trump Sister Federal Judge Maryanne Trump. Barry has been secretly recorded, saying some pretty harsh things about her brother recordings made by her niece, Mary Trump in the audio obtained by CBS News and first reported in The Washington Post. The president's 83 year old sister deplores Mr Trump's tweeting lack of preparation and lying. She says she drove him around New York City to try to get him into college. Mr. Trump dismissed the recording, saying in a statement every day it's something else who cares for one year And then he got into university. He had somebody Takers and thinking, no way. And he said in a statement. Spokesperson for Mary Trump says she's secretly recorded a rant because married Trump realised members of her family had lied in prior descriptions, statement says Mary Trump recorded the conversations to protect herself never expected to learn so much. Mary Trump recently released an unflattering book about her uncle. The president hears what White House Chief of staff Mark Meadows Fox News Sunday had to say about the recording any family member that would secretly taped 15 hours of a conversation with somebody, obviously, to promote an agenda. She's been very vocal in her support for for Joe Biden. This this is really a sad day. In response statement from the White House attributed to marry in Trump Harry Reid's every day. It's something else who cares? I miss my brother. I'll continue to work hard for the American people. Not everyone agrees, but the results are obvious. Our country. I'll soon be stronger than ever before.

Biden rallies establishment in bid to turn back Sanders
"Biden Wins. Every county in South Carolina from the hills to the C. Colossal victory in the first representative state. Is this the second day of the rest of his political life? Well it certainly feels that way. I mean look at the last forty eight hours. You have money which he hasn't had you've had endorsements you have people on the hill rallying around him. There's a Russian expression I think Peter might know it Success has its own aroma. That when you start winning that something happens that there's sort of an aura. People wanted to see him win. It's not just that he won one really big. And the the proportion of the African American vote the way he dominated constituency which is so important in a Democratic primary centene incredibly powerful message to people who had been wavering about him Peter Baker I recall a donald trump using biden's name a time or two in the past. Have you any evidence about how the president is processing the Biden Victory in South Carolina? I'm really what it may mean for the rest of the race. Look I think we know that the president would rather see Bernie Sanders. He's Kinda Telegraph that as his opponent. Candidates are notoriously bad picking their opposition. They they may not always have the right decision on that. But I see the contrast between the socialist and his version of capitalism as advantageous choice for the fall so tonight at the Rally. You heard him go. After Biden. Newly Resurgent Biden. Pretty harsh terms. He mocked him as feeble minded. Kind of has been ridiculed the vice president for his verbal gaffes lately confusing names saying that could be tomorrow's Super Thursday instead of Tuesday that kind of thing and he seemed to relish it but at the same night is trying to stir the pot. He's trying to get the sanders supporters. Upset whatever happens if he would lose if he were to lose. The president is saying is because it was a coup. That was the phrase there. Were he used today? I think on twitter because he wants to say they're the establishment is stealing it from Bernie Sanders in his view. He wins either way. He gets a candidate he wants and Bernie Sanders and a stark choice. Or you know. He gets a moderate Democrat to face but makes the laughter try get the left anyway. Upset BECAUSE BERNIE. Sanders did get what he says is fair do congresswoman. It's hard to imagine and fast forward through the history of the Democratic Party to a time where there has been one colossal consensus figure in the Democratic Party coming off his historic two-term presidency. He and the former first lady are often at the very top of opinion polls for most admired man. Most admired woman talk about the Barack Obama effect potentially on this election. Well I think it's a significant effect and I don't think it just rest with president former President Obama. I think you know when you look at people who were central to the Obama Administration now coming out in support of Joe Biden. That is in some ways telegraphing where the OBAMAS are and so. This shouldn't be a surprise me. We in some ways it would be kind of odd. Obviously if Vice President Biden didn't get the support of these allies of President Obama. We'd be all over that that. I do know Susan. Rice endorsed today among others. Well she did and I think that you know when you look at the range of endorsers especially today from Susan Rice and shoring up the foreign policy backing Joe Biden on domestically to have better work. Stand there along with Buddha judge or with char that makes a huge difference. Those are big signals sometimes. Endorsements don't matter at all in a campaign and we overestimate that but these were big Carolina. I'd like to read from you. The work of Jonathan Martin and Alex Burns over at your outfit very simply. The headline tells the story frozen in anxiety. How Democratic leaders leaders struggled to confront Bernie Sanders What is the story mean for the future potentially of the Democratic Party? Well it means a couple of things one if you look at that story part of the reason that they had a difficult time building consensus at that point around. Biden is because the campaign was really bad. The candidate was not reaching out to people as obvious as Harry Reid. The money was not coming in. Joe Biden was running in a very old fashioned way. He didn't have the base of say small donors and I think that story gets that and I think everyone should read. It is really the tension that might erupt if the Democrats are successful in kind of building up Biden as the Anti Bernie and prevailing like do they risk alienating. Some of the young people especially young men have gotten excited about Bernie Sanders to your first point. Sometimes people just like to be asked Harry. Reid came out in the last twenty four hours and endorsed but as they say that would have been nice lovely before the primary in his State. But actually you're raising a good point because today. I don't know if you've heard Biden's remarks he asked for people's help. He asked for their support. So somebody is sort of getting that message to him and Dunn Edwards a blatantly political question. What do you do about the split in the party? What do you do if you arrive at your convention? You'll be there and Bernie Sanders has slightly more of the delegates and that there's a group that wants to nominate Joe by first of all. I hope that we actually don't get to that point because I think it is really difficult. One and I would urge Democrats to stop running the Anti Bernie Campaign. They can run a campaign that elevates Joe Biden support coalescence around Joe Biden without sort of putting a knife in the Bernie Sanders supporters. I think that would be wrong for our party. And it certainly will not help us coming out of the Convention to have fully United Party. I mean Bernie has said that he's committed to that and I actually believe him on that point and I don't think he's GonNa be used as a pawn by Donald Trump. Should he not get the nomination but exit and that kind of exit is really important and so we have to figure that out? And I don't know yet whether burning might have enough to go into the convention and consolidate support and get the nomination. That could still happen. I do think for all you viewers watched Texas if Joe Biden does really well there I think in in Bernie a does well on Super Tuesday but Joe Biden has enough reason in enough momentum to to really challenge him in a number of places. I think there's a really good shot that we go and I'm not just saying this because I've dreamed about it as a reporter forever but that we go to a convention and have a contested convention you guys are on different teams just simply just because the anxiety for anti I get it. Zantac sales will spike Peter. I've got a tweet from Aaron. Blake over at the Washington Post again to keep things fair. Republican members of Congress haven't sent one tweet or press release mentioning Burris Ma or Hunter Biden since February seventh per alleged storm. One day after Biden Win South Carolina. Senator Johnson of Wisconsin sends this letter on a Sunday. No less Sometimes Peter the Republicans are Director. Never Ironic fifth well. Look you know. Burris wasn't necessary in the Republican. Playbook when Biden was down and out he was a fourth-place fifth-place finisher and the early primary states and they had bigger fish to fry at that point. It was Michael Bloomberg on the rise Bernie Sanders on the rise. They were focused on them. Now Biden of course is resurgent. You're going to hear a lot. More about Burris men Hunter Biden. And that's something that Democrats have to take into consideration is they picked their nominee because it is a subject. They're going to have to address the fall. If Joe Biden is their nominee either got to figure out how they're going to answer it how they're going to defend against going explain it. Some of these things can be dismissed as well. President trump was exaggerating. But there are some things that are genuinely troubling to a lot of voters even Democrats who have been disturbed by by some of what they've seen so this is a big factor in a way the Republicans are trying to stir the pot here before Super Tuesday. But it's a reminder that we're playing we're not playing ball and this is going to be a big contest come the fall. Whoever's the nominee Peter you're around to cover the Obama White House year among the former presidents biographers when people ask you what you saw of the relationship between President and Vice President? How easy was the relationship that kind of thing? How do you answer? That's a good question. I didn't start off that easy. In fact these are two very different kinds of personalities. They came from different generations. Different backgrounds different experience levels different introvert extrovert kind of ways of dealing with people but over the years they were together they really did bond in a pretty significant way. I think certainly you saw that by the time. Beau Biden died and Barack Obama gave the eulogy at the funeral. That was about as close a bonding moment as you can imagine between two political figures that doesn't necessarily mean he. He thought that Barack Oh so he thought that Joe Biden necessarily the best candidate to run this year. I think the Rock Obama had his concerns but now that we're facing a choice between Bernie Sanders and one other candidate. You can sorta see as as you put it as Kelly and her colleagues wrote the subtle hand of of Obama coming into play here which clearing the field to some extent of the the other Moderate alternatives that is a biden versus sanders. Kind of contest. Everybody Strap in Super Tuesday star. Hours are great thanks to Peter Baker to Caroline Ryan to Donna Edwards for starting off on manic
Joe Biden Accepts Endorsements at Dallas Rally the Night Before Super Tuesday
"Okay as we approach super Tuesday there is a lot of campaign activity to keep track of people to judge the former mayor of south bend Indiana has endorsed former vice president Joe Biden the judge suspended his own presidential bid last night also today Minnesota senator Amy Klobuchar plans to suspend her campaign and she also endorsed by them they're set to appear together in Dallas NPR political correspondent Asma Holland has been traveling with the biting campaign she joins us now has some other there are let's begin with this booty judge endorsement what did he say tonight well it just happened a few minutes ago here in Dallas and he said he was delighted he endorsed by did in part because you feel like you know this is not just about winning the presidency it's about winning the local Senate and house races and he made some sort of I think coded references to Bernie Sanders suggesting that being the loudest is not always about being right he also mentioned that he feels like Joe Biden it's just a particularly decent person he sees that he said would you run against him but also when you start your wedding comes with own hometown of south bend while he was vice president okay just a step back for a moment though I mean we see endorsements from the judge from club which are along with an endorsement from former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid which also came today for Biden how big a deal do you think are all these endorsements put together today I mean it's tricky I mean for Joe Biden said get news right you had a pretty rough opening to this primary season finishing in fourth place in fifth place he's I hope you had a remarkably strong last seventy two hours not only would that resounding victory in South Carolina but they're just getting us we would contortionist and really what we've seen is we've seen a moderate candidate in this race decide that they were going to coalesce around one single alternative to Bernie Sanders and they decided that that best alternative is Joe Biden you know on the other hand though Bernie Sanders had run at the anti establishment figure in some way not really he's in North Dakota bolstered his theory of the case which is that the democratic establishment it is not for him and they have never supported him and didn't you know he's not always been a part of a long time member of the Democratic Party right so if you're on the Sanders campaign right now I guess how might you be feeling seeing all these endorsements coming in for a bite and I mean it's a tricky thing to say what they wanted an endorsement from someone like beauty get you Bernie Sanders has really ideologically Gifford with substantively on the debate stage you know both provided an empty dejected suggested that Sanders Medicare for all vision which is too radical it was not in sync with what a vast majority of Americans wanted their queue and and really I think it's gonna Sanders campaign you're hot again the establishment and most of the north is that we've seen today well really good for Joe Biden in terms of you know consolidating the traditional democratic establishment support you know what Bernie Sanders I would argue it makes it a stronger as well so I I really would say you need a clarifying vision will be what we actually start counting votes I'm super Tuesday went fourteen states will vote right and speaking of super Tuesday I mean what do you think the effect will be tomorrow on super Tuesday and going forward of both the judge and any call which are not being in this race anymore I mean look Joe Biden certainly has much to gain specifically because we see these two candidates who dropped out of the race go ahead and line themselves up behind Joe Biden impact judge tonight here said that he was endorsing but any hopes that his supporters would join in and that I think would be most interesting out there is that when we look at some of the polls earlier in the week last week it looks like Joe Biden was really on the cusp of being viable in some of the states that means he needed needs to get fifteen percent in order to accrue any delegate to win clover shard JH no longer in the race at all it seems likely that he'll get at least a moderate this and at least that way you'll be viable and be able to get delegates and to me that is the biggest difference is that really will likely see many more places where bite in across the board is able to recruit delegates mark all right that is NPR's us Mulholland thank you so much
Reid pushes back on Sanders suggestion that a Democrat with plurality of delegates should be the nominee
"I don't know if there's going to be agreement when it comes to topics at the democratic convention which is coming up in Milwaukee by the way there they are debating a bill in the Wisconsin legislature to allow the bars in Milwaukee to stay open until four AM the bars are almost always open in Wisconsin I'll just tell you that much but former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said yesterday that senator Bernie Sanders or any presidential candidate should not get the democratic nomination if they and the primary process in first place but are shy of the requisite majority of delegates he was dismissing suggestions from Sanders and his supporters that he should become the nominee if he finishes with a plurality lead ahead of the rest of the candidates but still short of the nineteen hundred ninety one needed to secure the nomination

"Editor have them pissing in his hand and there was a concern as well that's expressed by some establishment Democrats that she is the discussions that you have about the shredding of norms and institutional institutional concerns like it's something will go down in history as very dark time in the history of this country told of a presidential selection for Supreme Court nomination for Year Mitch's been done I said that's a dark stage in the history of our country hope he's right I'll be willing to do something like that again although I think the implication was he wouldn't to in our election you were more outspoken about it than anyone else there was a time when the president wanted all four leaders Republicans and Democrats rats to sign a joint statement about this and to issue a warning to Russia why didn't that happen Jay Johnson came to visit the FBI with him and he proceeded to tell the leaders of the House and the Senate Democrats and Republicans realize Russians were missing with our election and he thought every governor should reach out him for help to make sure the elections are protected and I wanNA letter retin I may and McConnell policy and at the time whoever reported area and Matchwood and sign letter did he say why yes he did he said he thought the elections were not federal government stay out of my she'll be a state function and we got a letter but it was so weak it was just it was it was meaningless the letter if I do think that he felt that it would disadvantage trump if there was such a letter was trump I thought he I think he believes that you would disadvantage the Republicans One thing that you and the president agree on is neither of you were that crazy about the way Jim Komi handled the election at the FBI Komiya elected trump I think that he he was he's a republican he didn't want to seem that was partisan and he was so unfair that right before crunch time in the election he came out talked about somebody phillies emails really ruined her getting elected president so he's the cause her out winning in my opinion do you think he did enough relative because the take a stand for fear he would be seen as a partisan any wound up hurting everybody he it was a really a bad move and every time I see him and self righteous manner talking about people should do the right thing he should run right thing how much culpability do you feel for some of the partisan rank or you mentioned earlier that you regret it some of the things said about President Bush but you did what you needed to do in the role that you you were in our other things I don't really I don't I don't go back and lament what I did or didn't do I did what I did. so you know I was always a kind of after I took a test test in college my friends at stand around and talk about the test how did you do this did you do that not me over with I'm through nine don't go back and say could have been nicer I could have been meaner I could've done I just did time what I thought was the right thing and that's one thing about me David no one ever had to guess how I stood on an issue I was always very very candidate and so what do you think all this shattered norms are are gone is like Humpty dumpty you can't put it back together again these democratic senate norms Things that we took for granted thirty years ago when you were were I think the Senate has been damaged sufficiently and it's not put back together very quickly in the foreseeable future we've got a Senate that's going to become more like a house or appliances then it was the old center meaning very partisan meaning that the collegiality that existed won't exist anymore more it's GonNa be just like the house just like the house and it's worked out great if the leader of the Senate has a president Saint Party but it's not gonna work out so well that's not the case but that's what you have to deal with you you it sounds that you like you miss the backs I wish I were in the Senate but I'm looking back at the time that Americans should understand how the Senate used to be you know We had Democrat senators who were always dealmakers we had Republican senators who dealmakers and that's not a bad word legislation that Arctic compromise and once that spirit of compromise gone it makes legislation extremely difficult to pass there was the vote country I feel abuse mistake I made legislatively was voting for that I voted for that but within a week or ten days at the so I realized I'd been misled General Powell my friend he misled me under st into on a purpose but you know there's no question that I realized quickly that I was wrong I became a tremendous opponent of the war near Ben People that pose more than I did after that but I don't know who it would have been I was really opposed to it Iraqis have been killed but hundreds of thousands millions displaced the whole Middle East is in a state of turmoil and countries are and just re-engineered we have migration headed into Europe by the millions because of that war and so even though the government's in that period of time we're all dictators at least they were stable dictators and the country the whoa that part of the world was fairly stable but now it's not it's terrible what you think of the president's decision earlier in the week to out of northern Syria and leave the Kurds to family denison a tweet in the middle of the night sometime I this is one where he's getting Republican opposite is just not right there is this hangover though among the American people you pointed out it's now been almost two decades of engagement trillions of dollars thousands of lives lost so there is a policy reason to stand by your allies there was a policy into try and keep the Turks from slaughtering The Kurds but when the President says talk about endless wars let them fend for themselves and so on don't you think you striking a responsive Chord Sri is but it's fairly misleading because we have thousands of troops stationed in Korea and Japan they've been there for forty fifty years or more because it helps stabilize that part of the world and I think that we have to be very careful of this knee jerk reaction I'm I'm fairly con the working to help American troops in that part of the world for a long time because they may not be combat troops necessarily but we're GONNA have to solve our people there on the ground for American security that's right for American security the affordable care act they're very few people who had as much to do with its passage as you is the leader in the in the Senate there were other issues that people wanted to take up cap and trade on climate change which is thing I know is a great interest of yours Now the immigration reform And you hear in retrospect well they should have taken those things up in the first two years but I remember getting a call from you explaining why you couldn't and what the senator Senate calendar would endure when all but also I had to endure Barack Obama because this good man told me I would call and say I can't the healthcare bill done and he would say it's more important my reelection we've gotta get it done people tried to get this done since Harry Truman and we're we I think we can get on this Mama speaking so I felt a tremendous pressure to get it done and having been searchlight at TB wagon came through X-rays Hers Cheddar negative positive they thought she had TB everyone doctor was a false positive when we're now by can't imagine how she must have worried about it I did as a little boy so healthcare was something we had to get done and it was one of the landmark piece of legislation in the history of this country had matches social security and matches Medicare matches Medicaid it is important he's legislation and it did so much help so many people and even though the Republicans have done everything they can to damage the basic bill itself it's still there framework of it and we need to improve that we can do that it was in my opinion other than his stellar reckon foreign policy bronc Obama's legislative success nothing more important than what he did on healthcare I obviously don't disagree with you but the point I was getting at is there are limits to what one can do as the leader in terms of the Senate calendar this was an enormous lift David or just driving everybody crazy analyst airings but we had to get that done come let the air out of the tires so no one could say we were rushed we rushed it and we didn't we let the finance committee all the time they needed so I there couple of heroes we had is pushing us for their number of heroes but he was certainly one where the votes there let's leave healthcare side were the votes there in those two years when you had a fifty nine sixty democratic senators could you have passed comprehensive immigration reform out of the Senate that the national legislature is a very awkward monty and it's really hard word to get a lot of big things done because it just takes all the air out of the tires and it was all we could do to get the healthcare so if you have the majority can't do that in the Senate so slow process in part because the filibuster that's right and so when you hear these candidates talk about their Ambitious Plans Elizabeth Warren is an example she she has some very ambitious plans that's part of the corners univer campaign I've got a plan for that and the plans are very much about a more expansive activist government do you ever and others have done spoken as well do you ever listen to these things and smile and say timeout let me let me give you a reality check broccoli Emma was the first to use the presidential directives more than any other president in "Where was Joe? Did he not see any of that? I mean just think that that was just. I mean what what happened there was he asleep? I don't get Ryan Grim, as a great piece in the intercept, I think, is excerpted from his book, or at least based upon the research did from his book about about the, the fiscal cliff, and how Biden went around Harry Reid, Harry Reid had wanted to go over the cliff because I know you remember this, but people may not remember that the Bush tax cuts had to sunset within ten years because they were pass through reconciliation. So this fiscal cliff, basically, was like, if the Democrats do nothing, if they basically went home for vacation at the end of the year, then all the Bush tax cuts would have been rescinded. It would have obviously, given the Democrats all the power, they could come back if they wanted to give, you know, give you know, re- institute middle class tax cuts, they could have done that they could have owned that and the power position like you couldn't possibly want. Ask for a better situation in terms of where you get in because you didn't have to do anything. It was a runaway train, and you could just sit there and say like. The Republicans don't want to stop this train. That's fine because it's going to stop. It's just gonna stop at the spot, we wanted to spot stop. And then we're going to leverage that and get what we want, and the Republican have to go around and Joe Biden stepped in. I, I don't know if it's ideological or just sort of like some type of ego thing or just some type of notion like I'm gonna own this. I'm gonna give them if it's literally like somebody goes, like I want to buy that bicycle of yours, and you say, okay, eighty dollars and they go, I don't know, and Joe Biden goes, I'll resolve this. "Welcome back to a special edition of meet the press. I'm Chuck Todd now to a conversation with a colleague of mine, you know, him as the man at the big board. NBC news national political correspondent Steve Kornacki, I wanna pivot here a little bit too impeachment. I was out in Vegas. Harry Reid this Harry Reid and John Boehner are doing their, hey, we got John bainer to be his cO cheer for. It's fascinating to guys that I never thought really got along. Yeah. When they were in congress. They swear to me they did better than you realize that they politics. The public politics kept things away. What was interesting was sort of a whole bunch of people from Harry Reid's past were there. Whether it was a to Obama chiefs of staff were there. Dennis McDonough and Rahm Emanuel. There was a Frank Farren compass Grogan sort of old time Republicans you'd bainer in. So there was a lot of talk and a lot of chatter about impeachment and a lot of chatter about the politics of impeachment. And I reminded I told people that after Sunday after the show I got an Email from Tom data's Tom. Davis Republic, former Republican congressman who you you. And I both like the guy because he's such a junkie. The way he likes counties, the guy can tell you county results of presidential elections that go back to the fifties. And he sent me a note to remind me says, yes, the politics of impeachment were not good for the Republican party in nineteen ninety eight. He says, but I promise you, George W Bush is elected president without it. And I mentioned this to a bunch of these. And I I don't I don't wanna say who said what to me I throw out some names, and I mentioned this and one of the people jumped on and said, you know, there's a lot of truth to that the long-term messaging that the Republicans gained on the Clinton brand in general and on character paid dividends throughout the first decade of the twenty th century. And it's something Democrats to think about what do you make that? So my take on it is. And let's let's plug your book, man..

When Adolescents Give Up Pot, Their Cognition Quickly Improves
"We see where a lot of adolescents are using marijuana mostly in the legal states grades are dropping like a hot rock, and when the marijuana is removed from the kids extracurricular activities the grades go back up. And this is in cases, where fourteen to twenty percent of the students in a middle school in high school a couple of areas they were the experience of the group that was experimented on admitted using marijuana heavily. So that's that's a good chunk of people there. So we'll try to get to those and other stuff here for crying out loud. How I gotta get this in gotta get this in. We'll lead off with this in the next hour yesterday. I had some very compelling audio from way back in nineteen hundred ninety three the impassioned Senator Harry Reid talking about how wrong the fourteenth amendment to the constitution is with birthright citizenship, how wrong chain migration is how wrong that lottery system is for allowing people how wrong the lottery system is for allowing people in your all of this just wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong. Missouri Senate race: Claire McCaskill, Josh Hawley race intensifies
"You know, this could go either direction, but like you mentioned, you know, Heller. Was considered the most vulnerable vulnerable vulnerable Republican in the Senate, and he still is by he's actually been able to get around some of the issues that were really big Thornton inside at the beginning of the campaign. One of the big issues that Jackie Rosen who is a political newcomer. She's a first term congresswoman she was recruited by Harry Reid to run for the house in two thousand sixteen. So she doesn't have a lot of experience, but she's been going after Heller really hard on healthcare. Heller was one of those senators who came out initially when Senate Republicans were debating repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act and said, you know, I have some concerns about this. But then he eventually voted for that motion to proceed voted for the skinny repeal of the Affordable Care Act to get rid of the individual mandate. So Jackie Rosenthal, going after Hans saying, you know, you flip flopped on the Affordable Care Act. She's been running these really memorable ads featuring this orange inflatable to man, the kind of thing you see outside the car repair shops as sort of I come here type deal all she's been running ads accusing him of being Senator spineless saying he'd been blowing with the wind. Of Washington, and that sort of been her biggest attack against him is that he's cave to Senate Republican leadership, and he came to President Donald Trump going against the best interests of Nevada. And what's interesting about that is Heller actually said that he was ninety nine percent opposed. Donald Trump is sixteen election. He's been slowly warming to the president over the last two years. It was really happy about tax reform campaigning on that issue. So Jackie Rosen's than sort of trying to keep her her head above water, and sort of just run a straightforward campaign and the biggest attack against hers. This fact that she's a political newcomer running ads against her saying she's accomplished zero in the house. She accomplished zero before she announced her bid for the Senate. So why do you want to elect her when you know, I've been around? He I I was in the house in two thousand six he's been around for twelve years. So they have that experience contrast as well. Interesting because Heller was was not pro Trump. In fact, looked like he was gonna face a a primary from a very very trope pro-trump candidate Danny hurricane. And apparently Donald Trump called often Danny Tarquini and told him to run for congress instead. And now Heller seems to be pretty Trumpian running running in this campaign. Exactly. Yeah. When when janey Tarquini and who's run several political offices in Nevada over the years has never won. But but frequently runs he got in that race, and he actually said that Heller sort of waffling on the Affordable Care Act to repeal and replace was one of his main reasons for getting in the race. He was he was unhappy that Heller wasn't out in front behind the president from the get-go. But then you had Heller changing as though ultimately being a little bit more supportive of the agenda and that president ended up getting behind Taylor. And actually recently called him one of his his his best friends in in congress rally out here in Las Vegas. Okay. I want to come back to this including the the importance of the of the Hispanic vote and. Role. It's gonna play in in Nevada. Nancy, let's come back to New Jersey. The Senate contest between the two bobs Menendez in Huston. His we mentioned for it's really gotten into nasty territory, even by New Jersey, even by New Jersey standards. In fact, we this is the this. This latest is is an ad from Bob Hubin, according to the FBI

List of people did things that it's literally it is Harry Reid be end and on August twenty seventh embassy released a letter. It was a public letter to James Komi that he put online anybody could have found it. It got very little play. I'm just going to read the first avenue encourage you to go look it up for yourself because in retrospect it's extraordinarily damning says, dear director Komi. I've recently become concerned at the threat of the Russian government, tampering, and our presidential election is more extensive than why the known and may include the intent to falsify official election results. The evidence of a direct connection between the Russian government and Donald Trump's presidential campaign continues to mount and has led Michael morale. The former acting Central Intelligence director to call Trump and unwitting agent of Russia in the Kremlin, the prospect of a hostile government actively seeking to undermine our free and fair elections represents one of the gravest threats to our democracy since the Cold War, and it is critical for the federal. Oh bureau of investigation to use every resource available to investigate this matter thoroughly and in a timely fashion. The American people deserve to have a full understanding of the facts from a completed investigation. Before they vote this November and it's, you know, there's more where that came from, but that sentence, the American people deserve to know the facts that has guided me more than anything that I've done. I thought finally, someone gets like your obligation as a politician is to serve the people. A journalist obligation is to serve the people, and there's obviously something major going on here. If a Senator would write this kind of open letter to the FBI was just wrote the letter Betty wrote it expressly that so that the American public could see it. And so that even though we were being denied information from the Obama administration from, of course, Mitch McConnell, and the GOP actively suppressed it from Komi who both suppressed it. And you know months later may the sich. Nation, even more confusing by putting up letter about Clinton. He's still wanted us to think for our selves to go out and find this information. So there was some Solis in that, but I also found it very, very unnerving because it made me know that I was right that this was serious that this was important and that our government and our agencies were absolutely blowing it in a way that could have incredible and possibly permanent consequences for the freedom and sovereignty of the United States..

Brennan pressures, pressures, Harry Reid, a democrat Senator up on the hill, former Senator Harry Reid who has since left pressures him to write a letter to be I, which he does in August the twenty sixteen Brennan passes off this, this hot potato then to politicians laundering the information for himself and disconnecting himself from responsibility. Knowing the information is garbage and cannot be vetted to appropriate channels. Harry Reid pressures the FBI to open the case political operatives. Jonathan winer who's working with Victoria Nulan in the State Department, get the same information to make it look like it's independent, which was coming from multiple sources. It's the same garbage. It's passed the Jonathan winer, do political hatchet men for the Clinton team who then passes it to the FBI. The FBI goes, well, we're hearing this twice now. This was a sophisticated information laundering operation to detach the CIA from any responsibility of having to vet garbage information and get it into the United States to us by law enforcement entity because John Brennan has no law enforcement powers. The same information is laundered through the United States Department of state, bureaucrats diplomats, not law enforcement. It's passed directly to the FBI to give it a patina of authenticity. "Problem allen this seems like an artificial majority if you will it's so arbitrary it's so arbitrary and i'm curious as to its it's legitimate life expectancy because we've seen the filibuster become less and less of of a factor and of course now there's an even greater growing popularity for getting rid of it again this is a requirement to reach the super majority of sixty votes to pass legislation now curtis a lot of folks feel that the senate sort of self inflicted requirement to reach sixty votes before passing legislation is like this escape hatch that essentially grants lawmakers really too much cover for never getting anything done where are they so wrong your take on while it's interesting that you know the holy let's think about how are able to have this discussion and then it's a realistic discussion it's because of harry reid you think back to what had happened there and how mitch mcconnell basically got rid of in response you know per got rid of the filibuster for supreme court nominations and we did away with that for judicial nominations in the united states of america i'll be it you know we're divided and all that you know all host of problems but we're still here we're we're still here you know the year few years later you know because of that in the point you know the senate is such a deliberative body and things move lower but but the argument you're you're pointing out is that it's you know using c has been used as an excuse to knock get things done you can folks see this filibuster is sort of camouflage for really bad faith votes for which lawmakers are just conveniently not held accountable why because legislation in question always dies when not reaching that sixty mark so right now curtis right now senators let's say wanting to placate some voters without angering others can do so by voting for a bill destined to fail knowing that when it does they can tell those who wanted it that they were with them all the way and guess what they can do so while not having to worry about alienating those who did not want that legislation because the bill never crossed that sixty vote threshold so it seems like an excellent escape hatch for.
