Maybe that's some of that stuff won't be new information to you, but But while he's still got the talent, but he looks a so you know, he's definitely lived the hard life you know the rock and rollers life along that line, same sort of vibe, but a different ending was great doctor Who's Harry Nilsson? Oh, yeah, It's like a ride along that same day I had everybody knew he had drinking probably ended up dying from it, obviously, but yeah, that that same vibe. That was a phenomenal documentary. I've seen that one. I didn't see that. That's that's who is Harry Nilsson. And why is everybody talking about him? No. I've written a song, which everybody's talking, right? Um the love those just the those song writer artist guys from the seventies that a lot of those documentaries they're so good. Yeah. And I guess I was saying this last night. I just got on this jag watching one after another. And I just really gotten into him. You know, Um There are they're great. I'm one of watch the James Brown documentary. There's a good documentary on James Brown. I want to see and, of course, with the BG's documentary I've mentioned to you and I'll play a little bit of that. Just cause I There's a bunch of information on the beaches documentary, which is cool, too about, you know stuff that they overdubbed and we'll take a break here. When I come back. I'll play a little bit of that. Because that movie is just I think it's exploded on HBO. Max. I think a lot of people have seen it, but I think a lot of people of a certain vintage will appreciate it and just fans of music. There was. There was a lot revealed in that as well. "Desert right now In downtown San Diego, it is cloudy and 67 degrees. Dr O. Do we still have it? Or a Ah okay. Jeff Bellenger from the coconut song up. It's your deejay is coming out. Oh, yeah. Now Harry Nilsson was the best good stuff. Good stuff. Right. It's 5 23 and we've got news about. Let's see. Well, let's start with the Fizer because it sounds like Some big news here. Yeah. The Department of Health and Human Services and defense have signed a contract with visor. Now this calls for a visor to deliver 100 million doses of a covert 19 vaccine. So if and when the Peyser vaccine received emergency use authorization, the pack guarantees the initial production will stay in the U. S. It calls for the drug Baker to deliver the vaccine toe locations that will be designated by the government. These deliveries would start hopefully in the fourth quarter. The pact also allows for the government to acquire another 500 million doses. All right. So, uh, Best buy has actually done pretty pretty well. Yeah, Demand for consumer electronics is up and best buy is benefiting Business Update out this morning says sales for the Korean Quarter over all up about 2.5% from a year ago, and sales are up about 15% year over year since the change started re opening its physical stores Best buy has seen a surge in online sales, and the company also announced its workers will be getting a raise. Best buy is raising its starting wage to $15 an hour. That starts next month. Alright, well, so if you're looking for a job Maybe he had the best by United Airlines. Probably not good news for them. No. They posted an adjusted second quarter loss of $2.6 billion. The carrier says it is working to reduce its daily cash burn. United says it's well positioned for when travel demand eventually sustainably returns. More than 6000 of its workers have accepted voluntary severance offers, and the United announced this morning that its face mask requirement is being expanded. It will include airports and lounges now as well as the actual airplane's. All right, so let's talk about construction because it doesn't seem to have slowed down. You know, there are several sites that I passed by on my way to work and boy they seem like they're getting further and further along every day. Yeah, the leading indicator of new construction activity is showing improvement We heard from the architecture organization, the American Institute of Architects and Buildings are up. The chief economist with the AI has firms that focus on multi family housing led the increase. Business is still soft for firms that specialize in commercial and industrial design. Okay. I'm really curious about this story about tear gas and an increase in demand for home use. Yeah, it was a surprise to me, too. It's a company that makes the tear gas primarily for police in the military, but it also sells a device for civilian use. It's burnout technologies have seen an increase in demand for the launcher it makes for home use. The company says consumers are anxious about the recent civil unrest, so they're arming themselves with this non lethal device. Bernas device can fire solid ball about the size of 1/4 or balls that are filled with a blend of tear gas and pepper spray. They burst on impact, and the company says this could disable an attacker for up to 30 minutes. This is a it's a paintball gun that you put pepper ball with stinging pepper bowl is what it is. Sounds like sounds like that. That's right. Well, you know what you do, though, if you get, you know, hit in the eyes You put the lime in the coconut and then that you know that basically call the doctor on Then he tells you to put the lime in the coconut. You put it on your eyes and you're good to go. Right? I should think that that would actually hurt. Just let Jeff Dillinger from Bluebird. Always a pleasure. Likewise. Have a good day. We'll talk tomorrow. See, the problem is you squeeze your lives and it shoots out.

"The other side of that is piano man and the other thing about Panama is the whole point of the song is how Great Billy Joel is now. I know that if you pay attention to these lyrics the point of the song is billy. You're you're so great is funny. This song is about how everyone in the piano bars? Always coming up to him and tell him he's too good to be. They're playing for them. The owner of the bar needs him so much or else place would probably go out of business. Be An empty here the lyrics. It's a pretty good crowd for a Saturday. And the manager gives me a smile. Because he knows that it's me they've been coming to see to forget about life for a while. Is this long limerick by the way and the piano. It sounds like a carnival and the microphone. Smells like a beer and they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar and say man. What are you doing here? The point of this song is you are so talented awesome. Joel the whole thing revolves around. Billy it really does. People are buying him drinks. We've referenced it a few times without explicitly stating it. If you're not familiar this song is supposed to be essentially a documentary about the period of time in which billy Joel got his record. Contract IS I stuff. Didn't sell well enough for that to seem like it might even continue to be a thing. We're all in the mood for a melody. Billy just not yours so he moved the hell to another city and got a job slumming in a piano bar for a while and then wrote this song and these are all supposed to be real people who really came into this bar so again go read these lyrics and think about the fact that this is a song about real people. Who are really like this Nashville. We're saying about piano bars. And it's really strange that people listen this song which attached to a nostalgic memory and people's brains because they didn't even invokes that in the first lyric of the song you that guy and black I think one of the worst things is when someone tries to copy our material from podcast. Tell someone about something we said. You'RE NOT GONNA get it right. It's just not going to be funny. You know so. I'm not going to attempt to relate any of this at all but if you hate the song piano man or you're just able to laugh at something funny about it. You should go look up piece. That Michael Ian Black wrote for the website makes Sweeney's I'll tell you the title of it what I would be thinking if I were Billy Joel driving to a holiday party where I knew there was going to be a piano. It's real annoying. How close billy Joel came to being a one hit wonder? Piano man was a top forty. Hit but it only made. It's a twenty five and then his neck singles tanked so it looked like he just came out of a piano bar scene and was gonNA LASHING. Pan Five minutes and everyone paying attention to him for doing something based on his true story. Or whatever. But you can't do this for real though so go back down his single. The entertainer barely made it into the top. Forty hit thirty four and his label was actually thinking about dropping him real fast for anyone listening to this. Who knows they hate billy Joel because of the hits and you've never gone any deeper than that. You should really go listen to the song the entertainer. 'cause it's probably the purest distillation of Billy Joel like this. Is Billy Joel Song? And the point of the songs to be all self aware and smart about himself and the music industry and his role in the music industry. One of the lines is. I won't be here another year if I don't stay on the charts that kind of thing I mean. It's almost like begging people I don't know like come on. Y'All how you gotTa don't fuck this up for me like keep by myself. Let me stay in detail. Guys come on known of the instrumentation on this song makes any sense. There are yes synthesizers. All over the place. Also a pedal steel guitar and a Banjo. For some reason. You throw enough shit at the wall and you gotta understand. This is a fan favorite song. This isn't some me picking the worst billy Joel Song Right. Even though that's what it would sound like to someone who's not a fan fans love this. This is what people like Billy Joel like about. Billy Joel is this. These are also people that like the song I don't man so but then he follows this up with the stranger which leaned super hard into the fuck it. I'm the street boring version of Elton John. Let's do this stranger. The only thing I think about that is that it was like a horrible horrible as kind of funny thing where like I said he used to say like you. Sit on your hand into a falls asleep. Yeah it's funny I had I heard this whole life but then it's actually in a movie. I think it's gone in sixty seconds. Okay James Cons Kid makes the joke maybe remember what his name is. Scott Caan maybe Yeah the stranger is where you sit on your hands until it falls asleep and then rub one out. Yeah feel like someone else's doing yeah thinking about that makes listening to the song. Stranger a lot more bearable makes it more enjoyable. Just terrible idea. Because it doesn't sound appealing only sounds including the song. Now the move. It just sounds appealing to people that maybe have had never had bad experiences or something. I don't know why as I have a lot of downtime in hotel rooms I mean I've tried it. It doesn't really do anything. Yeah this still my hand just asleep. This is awkward. It's just some dumb shit. You say to your friends when you were in tenth grade you know what I mean like one of US still hasn't hit puberty and you're trying to see if he'll laugh or not that kind of thing. I think if somebody were to say to you in a non joking manner like no. You really should do that. You would definitely think that person was completely inexperienced at life in general should try no really now right now in front of me here in the sleep. What's going on here? I cannot stress how important it is for anyone upset about this episode to make sure they've listened to at least five. Harry Nilsson albums. Before they have a heart attack. Acting send us some hate mail a nineteen seventy-two son of Schmil sin is probably the best Harry Nilsson album to make my point. Listen to the song. You're breaking my heart. Billy Joel wishes. He could all right. He wishes he could the nineteen seventy seven album. Nilsson is also scary. Good basically what happened with Harry Nilsson? I don't know if people know this. Is He started hanging out with John Lennon. When John Lennon was in the middle of his. I'm just GONNA get real drunk all the time phase and both of them were drinking way too much in by nineteen seventy-three. Let's say and Harry. Nilsson fucked up his vocal cords and he kept shrinking made some very bad albums than RCA fucked up the release of his big comeback album in nineteen seventy seven. It just left a gaping hole for the stranger to walk right in there. The longer Harry Nilsson went without coming. Back the braver. Billy Joel got in the more. He starts trying to sing. And enunciate like Harry. Nilsson listen to the song. Don't ask me why off the nine hundred eighty billy. Joel album glass houses Nilsson. I don't know shit about that. You have to listen to Harry Nelson much. No no you should is at piano music. It's it will. Harry Nelson is a guy who does that without.

Opening Act - Rumors in Rock
"First false rumor. Did you ever hear the rumor about Keith? Moon driving a Rolls Royce into a hotel pool. I've heard a lot of stories about Keith. Moon well. He is the quintessential rock and roll guy and bad boy he definitely collected Nazi memorabilia. He may have bitten. Steve McQueen's Hog and blew up his drums win. The WHO played on the smothers brothers. Comedy Hour. I cannot wait to do his episode I am. I have like four books based on. Keith Moon I am. I am locked and loaded. I Love Keith. He is my soul. Well so those things may be true however there was a rumor that he drove a Rolls Royce into a pool at the Holiday Inn in Flint Michigan on his twenty. First Birthday. This is not true. According to Pete Townsend. The story is actually a combination of two different stories. That has become one not true rumor. So Keith Moon. In one of the stories like one of the incidents he left the Hamburg off of a car and it rolled into a pool which was under construction and to not have any water in hit home. Which would be worse though driving? Dr Into a pool with water or driving a car into a pool without water but he didn't drive the car into that. I'm just like either one either or I'm just saying like it just rolled in on its own. Which would do more damage I think you're pretty much screwed either way fair enough. The cars a loss of it goes near the pool. Yeah Okay and then so the second story that this was combined with to create the not true drove. Rolls Royce. Into a pool was that he charged new car to the band. Who refuse to pay for it. So Moon drove it into a muddy pond in his garden and call the dealer to come pick it up. So it's too true. Stories rolled into one story right. That's not true. Yeah Oh yeah. It's incredible and that's not our last Keith. Moon rumor either. Nope our next one which is true now okay. I should say with the caveat that these are true and false based on articles that we both read and so there might be room for error. So this is just like fun. Yeah it's just fun and it's inauguration. It's yeah just what we found. No one has photographic evidence. It's just fun fun so I hope you guys out. Don't get angry and you're like that never happened or that did happen bub-bubba so like don't don't get mad at us is just this is just meant to be fun and a little bit looser so and just for us to kind of talk off the cuff so Our next one. Which is true. Is All about Ozzy Osbourne. Oh my so ozzy. Osbourne achieved infamy overnight after incident on January twentieth nineteen eighty two in Des Moines Iowa during the height of his drug problem. That is putting it mildly. Ozzy Osbourne was performing when an audience member through a bat on stage. The singer believing that it was rubber and I do believe that he thought it was robbery. I don't think he would have. I believe that too. Yeah bid off its head as a stunt only to find out that the bat was real and alive not only that but as he declares in liner notes to the two thousand two reissue of diary of a madman. The Bat wound up biting him as well which forced him to be treated for rabies. The incident fed his rock madman legend along with the one time that he bit off the head of a dove which basically what happened was when he first met with Columbia records in Nineteen ninety-one. He took a live dub into the meeting with him and bit off the head in front of the horrified executives. Awful yeah so crazy man out. I wouldn't sign him to a record deal yeah. He was also arrested for urinating on. Or near the Alamo. And while on tour with Motley crue he allegedly got into a one upmanship. Dare contest with Nikki. Nikki six and I'm sorry that is at is a contest. I would never even get close to know but he ended up snorting a line of ants better than biting the heads off live animals. I think though no okay. The dove thing is kind of unforgivable. The bad thing is understandable. But you snorted a line of ants would if they were fire ants also. You just have ants in your sinuses now. I'm sad I read that. Oh my God you have to elaborate immediately regretted it I apologize. You should move on move on Thanksgiving on next all right. Here's a good one Kay cass. Elliot choke to death on a ham sandwich. Can We bury this now? Please yeah really not cool. I don't like this lie at all. This rumors terrible are you. Doing Mama Cass. Yes I am all right so this came up. Following a series of sold out gigs. In London Mama Cass retired to her apartment where she died of heart failure on July. Twenty Ninth Nineteen Seventy Four. A rumor spread very quickly that she died from choking on a ham sandwich which is just a horrible thing to say you know yes. She was a little overweight route. So it's believed that the rumor started when Dr Anthony. Greenberg the physician who I examined CASS. After her death wrote she appeared to have been eating a ham sandwich and drinking coca cola while lying down a very dangerous thing to do. She seemed to have choked on her ham sandwich. So so great job Dr Greenberg for that one. But point of fact her autopsy showed that a heart problem leading to heart. Failure was the cause of death not a sandwich or any other item lodged in her throat or trachea. She had actually had very little to eat the day before she died like her stomach was pretty clear. No dead I'm actually going to piggyback and double down on a Mama Cass and Keith Moon. True story with us. They were not but they did die in the same apartment. Yeah rockstars have been taken from US. Way Too young and it just so happens that two brilliant musicians died in the same apartment at the same age of thirty two Singer Harry Nilsson I love. That's my alarm. Every morning I wake up to his song. GotTa get out okay. If you've seen the show Russian dolls you'll know why I wake up to a song every day but He renounced his London flat to friends when he was traveling. And so on June twenty ninth nineteen seventy four Mama Cass of the Mamas. And the Papas was staying in the flat while she was on tour and died of heart failure in her sleep and on September seventh. Nineteen seventy eight Keith. Moon of the WHO overdosed on a sedative in that very same apartment which is eerie because they died in the same apartment under the same landlord at the same age. How crazy is that? That's a little

The nominees for clips really liked but couldn't fit into another category. Are. From the outcasts emphasis, Shannon. For spe- Keating. Right. That case Bank. Dane, Dane, Basset dang. From Jay z part one, Shannon. What my least favorite Jay Z album is Matt mccart. Holy grail. Thank god. See people. Me about that. That's insane. Because it's garbage. From Jay z part. One Evan Saudi jaycees views on women in rep is fascinating. Because he talks about close. He country about women that are already hose. But it's never like fuck that bitch. She's never liking smack ho. He's always like, let's just go to a place where homes are let's go. See some hope. Yes. It's like he he just he just wants to fuck the hose, and there's nothing wrong with that. From Harry, Nilsson part, one Taranto ride all even all even give this album a couple of the steel from songs when it's used like steel drums, when you have the role warlike permissively like to give it a little bit of an edge. We're. We're we're like. A little trill like a little tag at the end of the vehicle phrase. Like, that's that's how you steal Jones. Well, there are other songs on here where he just kind of blitz. The steel drums blink. Yeah. It like. Except when you have a keyboard, you hold the keys down. So the tone. Using like keyboard except when he hit a zeal into. And so it's just this like stupid little staccato and all over this. I got from the food episode Christopher, I wouldn't say even girls can tell isn't. I wouldn't say their strongest album, I know some people call it like a secret masterpiece. But even that has more of like a spoon five bent feel to it than this one. Gwyneth Paltrow Opens Up About Her Experience with Postpartum Depression
"One of our favorite topics. Oh, Cooper scoopers. Paltrow? Make fun of something dumb. Going Paul show his setter done with her goop. Well, goup, of course, being her lifestyle brass she's a hot mass, we like to make fun of her mostly because she's full of a bunch of junk science, and and really the thing that's sort of irks about Gwen Paltrow is the notion that she is better than all of us. And she's like, and you're going to buy stuff, even though you're never gonna be as fancy as I am. There's just a lose patronizing kind of central smug little smugness. But here's the headline. Gwyneth Paltrow says she broke out of postpartum depression, by using alternative therapies, so when I read that headline I think to myself, oh, God what sort of fake did? She put in her. She shoved up her. And I shouldn't have said it that way. Wow. Not today. Sorry. Bad. Mail anyway, Holly, you actually listened to the interview where she talked about this. But let me just get the story out first that Gwyneth Paltrow, essentially says that she didn't need medication for her postpartum depression. She just used no alcohol and lots of extra sleep that. I have a severe issues with we can talk about it in just a moment. But Holly, I do since you actually listened to the conversation want you to sort of put it into perspective because this was not an this is not as flaming goop. Statement as perhaps it could have been no, it's not a total flaming pile of goop. So this is on her podcast celebrating the tenth anniversary of goop. And this is one of the subjects. He's talking about. Now, Gwyneth Paltrow. She talking about having postpartum depression after giving birth to her son Moses, and she said that she wanted to seek alternate methods that she was seeing a professional a doctor regarding this the doctor offered her a prescription. And she said to the doctor that she would rather instead of taking this prescription try, alternate modalities. Put the lime in the coconut. Yes, exactly. She wanted to listen to Harry Nilsson song and solve all of her problems that she did qualify. The statement by saying that she is not recommending this to anyone. She's not a doctor. But that this is the way that she wanted to work through this part of her life, and that she suggests that that medications for some people are lifesaving. But this is the angle that she decided to go. So that's a very fair representation of what she said. At least insofar as I read it you you listened to it. So I figured you know, what let's hear it from someone who actually listened to it. But she does it in that way that so like, so no, technically, she she did say, you know, I thought I could go to medication if I needed to. But I I was going to try some other things. So I just stopped drinking and slept. A lot more. Which I take a huge issue with because she is a lifestyle brand, she's the face of a lifestyle brand that is she is a life that she thinks other people want to live, and she makes money off of people trying to accomplish her sensibility. Right. And so it is not you just because you give like an asterisk after the thing that you say that doesn't mean that people aren't still going to try to reach out and live the life the way you are living it because you're setting yourself out there as an example. Right. And so people are gonna listen to that example. So even if you're saying, call, your doctor, there are a lot of people out there who aren't they're going to be like, you know, what I really don't wanna take drugs either. I think she's really smart by saying you just need to rest more. Well, guess what? That's bunk. And all you have to do is talk to a doctor about it. That's not sound science. And that people would listen to her is what
