"It would be really difficult. For for for Aaron Rodgers not to show up, but this is what's going to happen. With the with the contract will be very difficult. So I know Aaron Rodgers probably isn't happy. The best thing for Aaron Rodgers that do this year because sitting out doesn't make sense or not reporting the training camp doesn't make sense financially because the Packers could just say Okay, then sit out. You all this money back? We don't have the quarterback, but we're not going to the quarterback anyway. I think that makes the most sense to do right now. For Aaron Rodgers is too alright. Keep sitting out Don't show up, but once training camp starts Get back in there. Have your press conference where you have to answer questions lie if you want to. But and then move on because your best chance to win this year is in your current situation. It's not by being traded to Denver. It's not by sitting out and waiting till next year. I think Aaron Rodgers should report this year. I don't know if he's going to or not. And I'm not sure if the Packers really deep down inside one him, too, as well. I'm sure they like them back, but they don't want to have to grovel anymore at getting them back. Right. They've traveled to see him separately in the off season. They have apologized to him for drafting Jordan love or whatever the issue is, but he is not over it yet. And the president of the Packers. Mark Murphy over the weekend, said that called Aaron Rodgers quote a complicated fella. Which he is a complicated fella. But it doesn't and it really in itself shouldn't be a big deal. The fact that we're in this situation right now, and he's speaking Lee speaking openly about it, and Mark Murphy, the package president has always has already admitted. That it's dividing the fan base. He knows that you have people that are saying, What are you doing? Do whatever it takes to get Aaron Rodgers happy and you have the other people that are saying, like, Hold on a second. Like, what do you want to have a really good team. What's your problem, man? Like Jordan loves not taking your job. But telling you Aaron Rodgers sees as seen what's happened with quarterbacks around the NFL. He sees what happened with Tom Brady. Tom Brady is not happy. He goes to Tampa Bay. Tampa based says What do you need? Tom won a championship. They're going forward again. Aaron Rodgers was once the Green Bay Packers to have more urgency in China win right now. Drafting a quarterback in the first round in Jordan. Love is an urgency to win right now that's worrying about your future. And Aaron Rodgers looks at at Tom Brady and what the bucks are doing and says That should be me. That's what we should be doing right now, and we're not Taking a conservative approach. Russell Wilson, he saw he saw what happened with Tom Brady. He looks at his team and says they're not listening to me. They listen to time in Tampa. Tom's bringing in guys Tom's part GM part coach. I want that same type of role here in Seattle. You know what the Seahawks didn't they? They did it. He kissed his, but publicly, they said everything they needed to pop privately into the Adam Schefter is of the world. They didn't put out. Bad stories about Russell Wilson. They tighten it up. They, they they at least right now he's happy that could very easily end at the end of the season if they don't win again, But at least Russell Wilson's onboard this year you need to get Aaron Rodgers on board and I don't know if it can happen, but it doesn't seem like to me that the Packers are fully committed. To making that happen. As much as they say. We want to back in everything else. The behavior of the president of the team doesn't doesn't suggest to me that he's 100% on board with kissing Aaron Rodgers. But To get them back and let's remember this isn't this would be an instance where ownership gets involved, and the owner gets involved because the quarterback that's making 40 year in the owner have a unique and special relationship. There's no owner for the For the Green Bay Packers. There's the president. There are publicly owned team that they they're publicly traded. They're owned by the fans, essentially You don't have an owner getting involved. You have a president that feels the way that he feels. Alright, let's go. Let's take a phone call before we get out of here. David in Dallas. David, how are you? You're on CBS Sports radio. How about on John Nowhere and drilled Morgan Sunday night baseball for me? I don't know how you are. I'm 37. They were Basically like Generational thing Growing up Sunday night, my family would always go get You know? And then we were army. We looked everywhere, but we don't with the Italian somewhere. Back and watch the game while we ate dinner at the restaurant with Gerald Morgan. And John Miller. Yeah, I don't know what it is, but didn't the game seen bigger? Back then with John Morgan or with John Miller and Joe Morgan, Right, like it felt like he was a real event. It was Sunday night Baseball now with a Rod Uh huh. And and it's also like and I don't watch as much or really anywhere close to the amount of national baseball that I used to. But David backed into your point. It was appointment TV for me. I would always watch Sunday Night baseball John Miller and Joe Morgan. We're great together, I agree. Oh, yeah, And will do me is they always have a couple of years. Everybody wouldn't Everybody want him gone? Sometimes you don't know what you got to have done because look at it now, like you're saying with ESPN, they basically major sideshow. It's basically the outs. Rodriguez Sunday night baseball. It is now you're right verse verse for Ski Jin. He just kind of is there and a Rod won't shut up. Yeah, It's not very good anymore. But Joe Morgan, the late great Great job organ. Thank you for the call. David. Uh, yeah. Joe Morgan. Was He was a really good player. For a number of teams played laid into believe his early forties, he was the Philadelphia Philly in 1983. They call him the wheeze kids. Tony Perez was 40. Joe Morgan was 40 Pete Rose's 40 All plus 40 all on the same team. All the old Reds that were there made the World Series lost two lost to the Orioles and Cal Ripken. And Jim Palmer. But that was a you know, like, I love Joe Morgan. You know, baseball. Baseball team's grown up for me, it was Joe Garagiola. That would do a lot of the NBC Sunday afternoon game. So you actually had Vince Scully in the mid the late eighties. You had Vin Scully doing play by play on the national game on NBC. And yet, Joe Garagiola. As the analyst on there. And that was national baseball to me the first what I remember from national baseball, and then from there, he moved over the Fox and Joe Buck came in. I guess Sean McDonough did some things in the in the nineties, too. For NBC after after Scully stopped doing the national stuff, but that was it. I mean, it's amazing because when you think of football broadcasters and even college football, Brent Musburger was awesome for all those years, Keith Jackson was so good For so many years. Verne Lundquist. He did pro as well. But he I think he's he's best known for through an SEC games in golf like they're just giants huge stars, and then you go to baseball. It's more local right, like Marty Brennaman in in Cincinnati Hawk Harrelson in Chicago, Harry Carey in in Chicago. Now it's John Sterling in New York. But you had Mel Allen and Phil Rizzuto in Philadelphia was Harry Kallis. Did it for so many years. So baseball really is. It's a local thing with announcers and then nationally. Nationally, We look at all the football announcers as kind.

Joe Garagiola Tom Brady Vince Scully Mel Allen Marty Brennaman Jim Palmer Vin Scully Phil Rizzuto Tony Perez Sean McDonough Joe Morgan Adam Schefter Mark Murphy Russell Wilson Keith Jackson Brent Musburger John Morgan David Joe Buck Harry Carey

Sanford dance made over music music. And if i think he needs to go right in their wedding all right well if you want to put him in for music great but you know the eighteen. Twelve overture is not sam spence. that's the eighteen twelve overture. He didn't create that music. I've had now we. We came up with a letter. Did we send a letter to the pro. Football hall of fame mclovin. We did okay. I do have that letter we do. Yes okay because i'd like to read it. I don't know the senna family. I just think there are times when you go. That person should be in the hall of fame. And i've said this before but on rare occasions that somebody that you might think doesn't belong or you didn't think belonged at all or you didn't consider you know that they should bucko neal to me for years. I kept saying he belongs in the baseball hall of fame. He was in the negro leagues and buck. A wonderful person. Wonderful ambassador of the game of baseball. And what buck did is buck was so selfless he would tell these voters about the players who played in the negro leagues. Just give them some background. We knew about sage will pay a satchel page. We knew about josh gibson. Cool papa bell but buck one into let everybody know about these other players that may be people were going to bypass or not consider and think just contributions to the game. That's why was always a strong proponent of buck. O'neil getting into the baseball hall of fame and john boyega. I had somebody say this to me who is not a voter but is well aware of the process and pro. Football hall of fame. Said well you know. He's just reading john fashanu. I said he's just read it. I see so if i look at some of the great acting if i decide whether just lines i mean we give you the lines. Like deniro. didn't didn't get the law. He didn't write the lines for taxi. Driver i mean there's something to do with those words that make it magical if i just go pay sinatra never wrote. The worry too sang the words. He made him his. Those words became his words in his interpretation. That what john fashanu did. There's interpretation there. it's his style. They've been trying to recreate style. They brought in harry callous. Harry kallis didn't come close to johnson asunder. Great voice. not the same. John was unique. And i thought why. Not have the voice of the sport in the hall of fame where you go in. There is an exhibit where you can press the button and you could hear everybody else. You get to watch their highlights. You press the button here. John ferguson maybe five of his best calls the autumn wind. Like they're just so many things that he did and he sounded great unique and i talked to mclovin. I said i want to write a letter to the pro football hall of fame and just on on behalf of john. Fashanu mclovin did james earl jones. Just read lines as darth vader. I mean apparently there's a. There's an article added right. Yeah and that's what. I was arguing about not fighting. But i did call the pro football hall of fame and.

"Hi It's Bruce Jacobs Chronicle Sports Department pinchitting here giants splash today I have the pleasure doing Mike Crew Co and Dwayne Kuyper about their thirty years together broadcast giants games talking about some of their favorite moments on the air awkward moment or two and. How they're destined to have perhaps the longest lasting partnership in major league broadcasting, history hope, you enjoy it. Guys, this has been a real test for everyone in baseball players, the media everybody, and you know for you guys you're sitting there and Oracle Park. There's nobody around there's not even a game goading is even there on your rug asking came out of San Diego and. You know I think people would agree that in watching the telecast it's almost like normal and there's not even some plexiglass between you. I mean, what? What's what's it been like? Well, it's it's different and you know the biggest thing is we have a constant dialogue going on during the game that you know something will happen. We can hit the costs which you just look at each other and we can talk you know and it. Kind of. feels. Good to be able to do that with your friend will now out he's a glass between us. And, I, I can't hear that. Great. So he'll go. He'll go. No idea what we say. I missed that little pattern that we have. So yeah, adjustment. We do obviously hear what we're saying with the headphones but those little moments between. In the broadcast where we could hit our costs, which we have the conversation I missed that. So it's it's it's not as good as normally as but it's still great. Plus. Plus Jinx Week. We get the. We get the banter in between innings you know where you know maybe. Bruce Votes you did something and we need to talk about it to figure out what the heck is going on or. We can't do it. We understand that this is the way it is. And we're making the absolute best of it and we can't wait to get to the park to do it. That's the bottom line. Is Difficult as might be it's not that difficult. We still can't wait to get to the park that's point now, you always really missing. Is the. Three or two hours. Before the game where we have so much fun whether it be in the Dugout in the clubhouse at dinner in the lunchroom. Doing our scorecards all that has changed, and that's that's the two or three hours that I missed the most. Yeah. No kidding. And I'm sure there are some moments where. The Games it's a road game somebody hits the ball down the line but the the the camera doesn't follow it. You don't know if it's fair. Afoul. And there's a weird gap there well I. This is not a secret. I'll bet I'd said. On the ground. Floor as telling near Yeah. All that is is just a way of waiting to see what's going to awful. On Road Games. When the should on the ground, you don't have any idea if it's GonNa go through or not. The balls hitting the air. You don't have really idea if that somebody you're out of the park. So on the ground in the air so that the best you're gonNA. Get. With the phillies they had up. Richie Ashburn Whitey Ashburn. And they had Harry counts and they were a great team. It's an example of how a play by play guy watches. The game as opposed to a color Alice. I watched the Monitor I don't watch the field. Watches the Field Harry Kallis washes field. There was a time in. In. Philadelphia where there was a foul ball that went back behind the screen up towards the boot and Richie Ashburn is sitting there staring at the Monitor. The ball hits of rate the chest. You never see. Eric Cal. Starts laughing at him. Hell as pissed because. Very callous awarding. Your bigly. Your favorite thought you were going to catch the. He was bad because he he didn't give awards well. When we're here tonight abolishing fouled up, I'll go for the monitor not trained myself for years. Well, look up just so I don't get. Richie Ashburn right? Yeah. Because he could come back in the booth and he tiny smoke it ahead. With the giants are on the road and we're sitting up in the booth. Will be watching now here at Oracle Park it's guard. Out, there. Hitting back behind hope play in Arizona here. Sam. Cisco going. Look over the walls. So it's weird. That's when you know you're at a pandemic season right there. That's pandemic. All the way Oh, my God. Let me go back as you grew up in Wisconsin during a golden era for the Milwaukee Braves and with Earl Gillespie at the Mike and I'm just wondering. About Thirteen when you know when they're blasting and everything. But what was the influence there was? What was it like Father Earl Gillespie? Look in those days there. I can't remember race game on TV I. Mean the only time to raise run TV is when they were playing the cubs. and. In those games televised wgn. SPN Blaine. Walsh. were. They were your attachment to the game. and. They were bigger to me than any of the any other players I mean Hank Aaron Eddie Mathews here didn't get any bigger than that but real glaspie. At style of his own and I never listened anybody else. So I didn't know if Glaspie was good I just knew that he was my guy you have you tell me what was happening in turned out that he was really good. And then my. The beauty of Earl Glaspie is win. Atlanta braves, stole. Braves from Milwaukee. Earl the job in Atlanta and he said. I'm. Not. going. So stock went way up when he said that. Lesson. Yeah. That was a crusher. So for you, Mike, it's you know stricken Vince Scali for God's Sakes and you're certainly not gonNA nobody's ever going to be him but as new listen to this guy. And then get older. Once, you take from the way Van did a game that you can use. Well then then never. had. An analyst, he was his own analyst He was the color commentator he was the. Play by play guy, he was two guys in one. But any taught me baseball and I and I. Loved Him for it and I thanked for it i. got the. Thank you for that, which is free special. And? Thank him. Every year is better back for that. But what he did, which was so cool and I try to incorporate it. In.

"An uncharged phillies promotions and entertainment. And I take a look at your story and I see a quote that really caught my attention on any he given night. You might have a band acquirer I ball presentation and honorary batboy. You need to time and script it all. You have to make sure it ends at the appropriate time so so we don't affect the baseball. Sometimes we had to scramble but if we were tight we'd rush things maybe tell Dan Baker to read the lineups a little bit faster. Tell tell me a little bit about the scripting of all of this briefly You know people probably are not aware of it. It's a second to second minute to minute presentation before the first pitch isn't it. That's exactly what it is. We generally we. The PHILLY's always sell the baseball came first So the we had to fit everything that we were doing within the timing that would not affect The start of the game The pitcher warming up anything like that So we'll on any given night I would just go down the list of everything that we pat and kind of timed out in my mind or in or write a script and then tying the script out and kind of back time at show that we would start start with sufficient time that we always ended up with the anthem. Starting at six fifty seven which Then you know the pitcher the starting pitcher it gave him sufficient time to get that get to get his warm up and without us interfering with that because we tried very hard not to start the anthem while the starting pitcher was warming up because then of course he had to stop what he was doing. So we we had to work around all of that and sometimes work around guys but running on the field and whatever we have to stage it so that we didn't interfere with them anymore more than we absolutely had. Just let's talk about some of the promotions You've you've said in an article that I read that the ones that work and do well L.. No problem there but the ones that bomb literally sometimes with one of the promotions is the one that you worry about the most. Let's talk about some of those those promotions oceans and tell me about kite man first of all well. Kite man The first attempt that he made when he came in he had built a ramp out in Centerfield and he only made it. Oh Gosh not even a third of the way down the ramp because before he just sell off I mean he literally fell into the stance. Thank Heavens as opposed to falling down like a rock onto the field He did it a second time. got a little further and then we did get a third kite man. 'cause finally made it home plate but it it's something that as you're looking at it and getting started every ounce of preparation that you can You know there. There's only so much you can do as far as the rehearsal for something like that where we could. We always did a rehearsal but if it was something like that that we couldn't didn't do than we listened to the performer and took every precaution. We could just to make sure that it was just as successful as possible. I have seen any any the bomb before but let me hear your experience with him. I'd love Donny. Oh my goodness For anybody that doesn't you know what it is. Then he basically put themselves inside of a box and blows the boxed up and he comes out and he is such a performer. And I'm sure to some degree. This was was real but he would come out of the box and stagger around a little bit and then end up bringing the first ball over to whomever remember withdrawing it out and he was just a very nice man a little different but a very nice man and he came out in one piece right not a lot of pieces amount one piece tell me about Canon Man The very first one we had was I wanna say it was like nineteen seventy four and He was a a bit of character as well. You know anytime. You're doing something like that. I think you have to have a little bit of an unusual personality but he he was the one that told me that if I had a year to live let let him know because he would make it the best year of my life. I remember that has so. We're yesterday and rocket man Rocket Man That was interesting. Living in that He strapped these rockets on his back and took off from Like the that part of the lower level got up to almost the top of the stadium and then came down and landed on the field. My favorite story and the one that I was reading about you when you had the the circus was in town and you invited The train to bring over what you thought was going to be one elephant. Pick the story. From the aircraft's Yeah There was a trainer at the time was world renown in that field also His name has gone through several Williams and What we do is we have a reciprocal agreement? We would give tickets to the baseball game. Came to the circus and then the circus would give us some tickets but they would also bring an act over to do a pre game entertainment and so we were anticipating disappearing elephant. Because that's all it's ever been brought over in the past and We kept waiting for them. And I'd run up to the top of this big ramp That came down into the ballpark and I did it like three times. And on the fourth time I got up there and came face to face with elephant number one and then realized there was a lot more elephants behind it so I took off down the ramp right out onto the field. He brought them out he lined them up in front. How's The phillies dug in and at the appropriate time for him he had them stand up? Well it's like turning on a fire hydrant address. It was unbelievable. The hey type. Let's say the number two type is like hey it wasn't isn't too bad and it's relatively easy to clean up but when that water came out. Oh My heavens not dug up dunk for weeks. There were players flying all over the place. You know it's often said you don't WanNa work with animals. They're talking about actors. Tell me about the rampaging ostriches. That was an act where you they. They were on Like an apparatus where We had Richie Ashburn and I think it was Harry. Kallis was the other one on the and they were supposed to race around the field and for some reason those. Ostriches got down to the bottom of the ramp and the Announcer started to get on the the college behind it and the ostriches wanted. No parts of anything. They were spitting. They were fighting. They wouldn't run. They wouldn't go in the direction of my. Gosh it was a mess and also also. You've had a dogs Do their act out there as well. And there's an interesting side to that. Tell everybody about the dog. Oh this was The dog bit The movie God I'm blanking the dog's name right now but they they have a dog that You did different movies and he would do different things it was in a they Like a winter setting and he would do something winter and whatever but anyway the baseball setting and He was to go out on the field with the young young girl. Girl who also starred in the film and they were supposed to excuse me. Go out with the philly fanatic. And as soon as he got out onto the field. The players were warming up because it was between innings and he saw the ball and took off and so two of our players. Were throwing the ball back and forth with the dog running back and forth and I'm saying to the trainer Jenny. How do we stop this and she said well? You didn't tell me the deep ball out here. uh-huh look out her baseball field. So the the young girl who was the star of the movie she and I took off off and she ran out and she grabbed the dog and the two of US got him off the field and I thought Oh boy lesson learned on that. That are ask a few you more questions the next time you have something like that. I know you probably feel like you were over the forty eight years rolling the dice at times when it came to national the anthem singers. Because you're never quite sure what you're going to get again. And you have said that the toughest thing is the fright factor on it. Tell me a little bit about some of the experiences with with the national anthem singer. She had well. We actually We've been lucky. We had some beautiful performers over the years sure We did get to the point though where we had some difficulty with individual singers and we went to choirs for the longest time but but We did have one woman who sang. I heard her in rehearsal. She did a beautiful job. She seemed very confident. No problem problem and all she got out on the field and she started say can you say and she looked up and she went already. I forgot the word. Can I start darn games and I said just saying just saying so. She started and you could tell. She was a deer in headlight again and I was kind of singing coming along with her throat singing along with it but then the beautiful thing about that is. The crowd joined in as well. They realized that that she needed some help. And as soon as you could hear the crowd Singing along with her it relaxed. You're completely once you got by that. I won it relaxed completely and then it it just ended up being a very positive thing. You hear all the negative his things about Philadelphia Fan. Well that's one of the positive things about Philadelphia Fan. One of the great stories is also can Channel Six cameraman wanted to do the the national anthem and I mean he bugged you for a long period of time. And what happened Well he got out there and he began singing you and I thought Oh my gosh. I guess he's sending the second I I I'm not familiar with these words Excuse me trying to follow along with them and finally realized kids forgotten the words and he was just making them up so again the Philadelphia fans just kind of jump in and they began singing the song appropriately and they picked up right at the the the point where he was and they began singing appropriate. Now they did so with the end and he just at the end of the song he just finished up walked off the field. I don't know that I ever even saw. I know during that forty eight period here period car will Linda had to Skywalk one thousand nine hundred seventy two the other seventy six. So tell me about those I mean what was you know what stood out to you about that. He was amazing Such a professional He made he oversaw and of course he had his family working with them as well But he oversaw. I saw everything that was happening You know setting up the equipment and whatever but the very first walk that he did Because because we were doing it between the Games of a doubleheader you couldn't put the the Guide wires into the ground anywhere because we you had to play a game so what they did with the guide wires coming down and then we had our security that were holding the guide wires and the purpose of that is to make sure that the wire that he walked on stage stage straight and he got started and he started walking down and then they began watching him so they weren't the wires learn is taught as they should have been and then he being professionally was he was pointing out the people move back. Move back move back and we realized what was going on and and He ended up finishing his walk doing a great job. Lovely man that's a lovely lovely man..

"If you run into me, I've got about ten of them to give out to fans. So try to keep a few with me when I do the shows that the public house, but yeah, you're right lawn lawns right up there. Russ hodges. I listen to when I was in New York, and I was just a kid and as Sam spear says, I listen to Russ Hodges, Frankie Frisch crazy things like that. And, you know, Connie Desmond, of course, VIN Scully at that time, Al Helfer. There were so many that listened to Mel Allen red barber Phil Rizzuto Jerry Coleman Bill white. What? Isn't that funny? When you start going through the list? How many great broadcasters are launched Simmons baritone voice with all due respect. Russ Hodges was the art Carney to Jackie Gleason. He was Barney rubble to Fred Flintstone. He was the guy that he knew his stuff. Yeah. Yeah. I'm gonna tell you, you know, earning a slow waltz. But it was absolutely beautiful launch statements was just law literally larger than life. And and when he described Mazen McCovey and Mary shell and those guys in that era. I had no idea how formative it was. But it has stuck with me, you know, well into this point in my life, and it just like I said, I could debate the other three all night long. Lon. Simmons is the guy referred to the George Washington on my mount Rushmore, very good. I'm glad you said that as I said Maria from the media relations department, she gets it, and she's going to create more exhibits around the ballpark for just the things that we're talking about today. She does a great job. So yeah, very good. I am enjoying this. Thanks for the call. Very good. Thank Martin, very good. All right, boy, we've got another segment coming up with you. But Josh raffia enjoying this morning. You know, it's always nice to hear other people's perspective. And you know, we all grew up in different areas. So it's kinda it's kinda cool to hear what people think, and it's so personal because as we always say baseball brings you back to that. That moment this story. I told this morning about the young man, I ran into who's the Harry callous fan. You know, from the Phillies his grandfather's earn the ashes are in the in his living room. And he, and I tell them about the Harry Kallis CD, and and I brought him one. And he's putting the CD next to the earned. You know? I mean, that's that's how significant these kinds of things. And that's what makes baseball baseball connects generations in the giants have done it as well as anybody look at you know, there's Lindsey Nelson. We haven't even talked about him you guys you don't remember him to Iraq. God I am. I that old. Holy cow. Phil Rizzuto, but Lindsey Nelson was here. And of course, as Hank McGraw points out Michaels was here and Hank Greenwald for so many years and Lon Russ Hodges Bill Thompson, remember that. When I first came to California, he the games with LAN at that point. So yeah, I enjoy it. So oh, we can do another segment eight oh, eight Cambior. If you want to do it a couple of things and listening to some of the spots over the weekend. And here we are second weekend is down Rafu. We've got about twenty eight more to go, and we got twenty nine after this one twenty nine okay? River islands. It's always fun talking about them and being associated with them this year. It really is. And we played a couple of the spots about river islands. Maybe think about a couple of things that I just want to talk about and river islands is a new master plan community. It's in Leith rip. It's a little bit. To the east of Tracy, but when you're in the bay area, and you're thinking about where to live and commuting and things like that, you know, how the bay area's now spread out, but it's got different things for different people. And if you're retiring if you're in a home, and you sell it and you want to buy another home. You go out here. It's less expensive. And you have extra money to do what you want. But there's so many things to do in that area 'cause you close to the gold country you close to Yosemite skiing kayaking, they have lakes there and all that stuff. So it's good for that. And then if you're a young family, and I've been out there to see it. If you're a young family looking for a good by this is where you go and they've got K through eight schools out there. They're going to have all sorts of things out there. It's almost like an expansion team that you're in the beginning of it so river islands dot com. And as I talk about getting more familiar with it, and it's it's really very special very special to be part of it. So I'm very glad that they're part of our show this year, the other one I want to mention before we go away bridge Bank. You know, I always like to talk about them on each show. Let's see bridge Bank. Sees each client is having unique set of circumstances. And therefore takes time the craft custom banking solutions said of taking a one-size-fits-all approach bridge Bank is a division of the western alliance Bank, a member of the FDIC. So those are some of the things I wanted to talk to but what a weekend the baseball as raff says we've got twenty nine more next weekend. Let's see next weekend. We are in Scottsdale on Saturday. I'm not sure who they're playing Saturday. You got Josh draft got the schedule. They're on. They're playing the cubs on Saturday. Oh, really? Okay. Cool on Saturday. Vernon Oakland Sunday at Mesa. Yeah. So we're on the road for third row game. By the way, I'm here at Salt River fields tonight. Maybe you can hear them cleaning up the field in the background here. But yeah. Next Sunday were in Mesa. We see Ken Korec and Vince Cotroneo we'll see the as over there. That's close to where I live. So the community about. Seven minutes for me. Yes. The next Sunday on the road Sunday. Evan and Erin are coming down next weekend. So see them here. And it was nice having Carmen here. Raff was a nice having Carmen here. Yeah. It's great. It's always nice. You know, just regrouping everyone coming together finally for the for the baseball season. Yeah. And then Allie, and of course, Adam Copeland. I enjoy being on with him on Fridays. I'm going to be on with Gary and Larry tomorrow at ten thirty tomorrow morning Pacific to talk about the events of the last week with the giants and stuff like that. So it's all happening. It's all happening. And we've got giants dodgers tomorrow on the internet and some Marga and Orioles pitching in that one. So as each week goes on the regulars will play more, and we'll get a better feel for what's going on. But we're starting to get the look at the second catcher position. And we're getting a good look at the outfielders that we're clearly seeing and we know kind of what the infielders can do. But it's the outfield that we're getting starting to get the picture on what we. Have here in the outfield. So as each week goes on it'll be a little bit more. Fine tuned. All right. We'll take a break come back and talk about your mount Rushmore. And if you want to just throw in one thing for me, the best athletes on this giants team Duggar Alan Hansen to those are the three that I came up with view on a jump in with that. "That addition. I had the VHS tape and now it's gone. And I want that exact version I found a shorten one on YouTube. I want the whole thing with Harry Kallis. You gotta smoke a cigarette after it if you're a bear fan. It's great. You may need some help getting that. Because I'm I'm watching you try to download that flicks for your upcoming trip. Challenge for that. Three people with black hasn't come in yet. But you and Mallard both set fifteen seconds. Yeah. Can I? To bring people on the inside. We're currently trying to run a radio program cap. That is correct. We will handle that at the next commercial break that is correct. Three one two three three two three seven seven six three one two three three two three seven seven six is our phone number. So Dan Orlovsky was on for his weekly hit yesterday. And I said to him Daniel. Ladda case who you're picking and why? I'm taking the worms to win not believe that they are much more of an issue to the patriots and the patriots the rim. I'm not surprised by the public because it's the patriots and the we're still here mantra and Tom Brady spellcheck. We know the dynasty all that stuff. But I do believe that we lost sight of football in a way. Like, okay. So first of all, and I know that. I know that the Rams are in the Super Bowl because of that, you know, agreed penalty non penalty but the patriots in the SuperBowl because of a four inches of deport hand. So that's like this is this wasn't a New England team that went into Kansas City and just completely dominated. It's also the fact of. I look at the Rams found a way to get off the field in overtime where New England is never had to play against a home. So there is a lot of kind of story lines that allow both teams to get in there. But when you just watch Cape and look at it, we forgot how good the Rams are. And I don't know why most of the country. I've forgotten how good the Rams are. There's one team in the NFL this year that was top five authencity in both running the football. And throwing the football. That's the Rams. So like that that matters over sixteen seventeen eighteen games. And when you look at it and go where New England strength or they take away your best player. Where's New England's week weakness when you have a bunch of good players. And that's what the ranch do because they stressed you're force and distance six cover guys, especially New England. What's the plan for all the good stuff? They did on defense this year. They were one of the bottom eighteen in the NFL defending play action passes. They were one of the worst defenses in the NFL defending play action pass who's the best play action passing football team in the NFL. Yup. The New England actually the worst defense in the playoffs when it comes to defending the player should pass. And so when I'm looking at it, a strength on weakness. I go man the Rams have acute your vantage. And then I know that New England the Tories for taking away a great player. They're going to double team. Aaron Donald no doubt, first of all Aaron Donald double of all it's super place the way he has the last two games. He's the number one keeper defensively, it's not Aaron Donald to place the way he has New England's gonna struggle offensively because they are often so dependent on being efficient on first and second down, but stews playing dominant football like he has and I expect him to doing that doesn't want to get into third eight games. They don't they're not good enough offensively outside to get into a and eight game. I just think we've lost sight of how good the Rams are. That was Dan Orlovsky who did a ton of film study on the game just said look every he thinks that they're the more talented team. He thinks they obviously Brady is Brady as he said, but he goes to best play action passing team in the NFL. The Rams one of the worst defensive teams in that scenario. The patriots for the play action to be effective you need to be able to run the ball is Todd Gurley healthy, obviously, he was not healthy in the NFC title game, which he's denying by the way. He just said, I just bad. He said that that's not that's not accurate. C J Anderson girly were held a fifty four yards combined in that saints game. So the play action is only effective if you can actually run the football. I don't disagree the week before we went for fifty right? We're over a hundred. Yeah. To fifty as a team against the eagles in the two combined for two hundred thirty six. So to me the big question is the health of girly and Ken they established that run to make the play action effective like Orlovsky mansions. And then on the flip side when he talked about the Rams defense. Can they get to Tom Brady? The patriots offensive line has not allowed a sack in there. I hit in the first to propose postseason games. Now. They haven't seen an interior defensive line like they are going to see on Sunday night, Atlanta. And again, they'll probably double team Aaron Donald we'll sue played to the level. Like like he did in the last playoff game. It looked like the sue of old. But that's not the way he's played at. Certain spots throughout the year. So if they can get Tom uncomfortable in the pocket that changes things drastically, don't you think it does? No question about it. I was looking I wrote my handicapping column, which I'll give out my picks tomorrow on the air. But in the column that I write for sports book review. They asked me not only to pick a winner, and perhaps a shot at the total. But to make some picks in props one of them that any old check. And I talked about on Monday is plus it's between one eighty and two hundred depending where you do your shopping plus one eighty two plus two hundred will there be successful two point conversion, I think you're looking at Sean McVay for sure is a guy that loves trying to pointers ballot. Check with Brady absolutely likes trying them. So I think that's a prop that makes some sense. And then my picks on longshot since I am going with the Rams to win the. Football game outright. I looked at as Dan had said and Dhamma conch suicide seventy five to one and they're going to double team Aaron Donald. Worth a long shot play Robert woods, if they're going to double Brandin cooks is a lot of the stuff. I've read from analysts say they're gonna take Brandin cooks away at gives Robert woods a chance. Plus, he's the guy they run in jet sweeps which gives him a chance to break a big play. He's fifty to one if they do double team cooks. Also, the tight ends. They had huge games against the saints higby and Gerald effort that could be a nother value for you. If you're going to place a wager on someone to have a big game. Yeah. I mean for me to go bet Tom Brady and get like literally. No odds, Jared Goff, whatever I'd rather just crossed the game. But if I have a twenty dollars ticket at fifty to one go, whoa. But let's be honest. If if someone on the outside has a big game or Seabra has a big game. Golf's going to get a bulk of the credit a bulk of the votes and Brady's gonna get a bulk of the credit. The vote. So why on the Robert woods thing? Everything. I had read said that they have used him a lot in jet sweeps and in practice that is something that they have discussed being able to use him in a wide receiver reverse. Well, if he was to break one of those and cats along touchdown. He certainly going to be in play on the conversation again, he's fifty to one so long shot. It's a lottery ticket, but you take a chance. Three one two three three two three seven seven six. Let's grab Carl in Nashville. Hey, call. Hey, guys, first of all they warm. Hey, man. Listen, I I'm I'm from there to stay warm. I talked to my parents, and my siblings, and they're like, wow. So. Yeah. So stay warm. You know, take this one guys. But this is the way I feel about the NFL. I watch the NFL like I watch wrestling pro wrestling. I know it's fake. I just like watching it. And before you, you know, you anyone else wanted to rip me up. Let me just take you a little walk down memory right now. I I just made them up my years ago. Then I'm going to enjoy it for what it is. All right. I watch Neil. Donald literally look at the Dallas Cowboys db. I watch the Seattle Seahawks. Get jobs in the Super Bowl against the Pittsburgh. Steelers are watch the Arizona Cardinals. Back and let the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receivers role while the whole game never pressed once the defense they have been playing that whole year. I watched the best one back in the league with the Seattle Seahawks. I watch those guys I watched that guy get out to the one yard line. And what do they do? Shotgun. Not only do they not not leave that guy in the back in the backfield in motion. Now, you gotta run a quarterback that can Rogers good that you can throw. He's thrown into a crowd. I watch the I ram Super Bowl against the New England Patriots the greatest show on turf overwhelmingly favors to going in and destroy the upstart because they were the Super Bowl champs the best team at that time. I watch. Carl Carl we got it. We got come on. You don't believe what you're saying? I can't believe what you're saying. I really really I watch it like I watch professional RA. Car like, and we thank you. We appreciate it guys. Jay cutler. Yeah. So who the twisted individual that wrote the script for the NFC title? 'cause I gotta beat that guy comes in. He goes, I got here's the deal. Get to believe what I came up with last night. I was in the shower. I got it's gonna come down to a defensive play. And he's not gonna commit just one foul. He's going to absolutely obliterate the guy with the head to head an PI, and we're going to miss everybody is going to be looking at it and the three guys charged with doing it. And if we called either one of the penalties the saints would have kneeled three times kick arguably the game winning field goal, and they'd be going to the Super Bowl. But we're going to change it. Because this is this is fake. Wow. Come on. Yeah. Let's go on and get back to a couple of other things here from yesterday. When Roger Goodell spoke, I'm done with the Rams saints. I'm onto the game. Yeah. Let's it's it it. They didn't make the call. I'm sorry for the saints fans. And glad it's not bears fans. Even though we feel like we'd made a field goal. We would still be probably be twenty five point favorites. Everyone thinks. Anyway. There were something else that he spoke on yesterday, and it has a bears tie potentially to it. Here is the Commissioner Roger Goodell Kareem hunt cream punt I think everyone knows that. He is. That issues under investigation and has been he is a free agent. If he signed by a club and the golf clubs understanding will go on the Commissioner exemplifies at that point in time until the discipline process has concluded whether there's disciplined or not disciplined, we would finish the investigation and then make a determination. So that's that hopefully will happen soon. But we haven't concluded the investigation, and we're working to do that. There has been a tremendous amount of progress in that investigation over the less. I'd say thirty to sixty days, right? So there's the Commissioner on Kareem hunt. And from what he said, you can go sign them right now if you want, but you still don't know what the penalties are going to be. And I'm sure before anybody whether it's a bears or anyone else signs him. They will get an inkling from the Commissioner's office of. Here's what you're looking at don't you think I do? But you could also get him probably add a smaller dollar figure right now before you find out what the NFL right if he comes the investigation showed this this and this and he suspended two games versus ten games..

"There. Thank you so much for hanging out with us. We appreciate you can't be are is the number of conversation have had with the play by play voice of the Rams JD long. Super bowl. So fired up for aren't you? I am because no one in for a long time going Bellarmine together playing baseball. I absolutely go bells. When guys have success buddies of mine, it's the best and then to see this. This is this isn't like success. This is like this is the peak is the pinnacle of it, Jerry think with this new gig that you got the Phillies nothing that way. Now if I mean like some of the moments that. Yeah. It'd be a part of sure. But I mean, I could see you doing this for as long as you want. And I'm sure in the booth at some point. That's great. That's a great goal. Actually. I'm being serious at some point wrong wrong areas. Say that in Philly why? They're going to start planning on, you know. Well. Harry Kallis passed away in the booth Philly. I wasn't talking about. I know what you're saying. Like, it's not live more thought about right there is I said that I was like, I didn't think you're bringing sensitive. We're talking about you talking about the gray hair. Cal's you're not even on that level yet. You have a long way to go to get there, my friend, if a long way to go, I got the Harry. Yes. You mean? But it's just I mean, you're talking about Jay belong to Kiala games for the rabies like the very, I think more or less the next version of Dave Fleming. Okay. I can dig that. And I would not I really would not rule out. A and b. My prediction is. The year that John Miller and Dave Flemming become too big for the giants which never going to happen. But you know, what I'm saying how much bigger can they get they're already doing national? I'm you say global games. JV might be that guy. I I like it. He's very good. He's very good. But it's interesting though, it's interesting to your body's getting broadcast and jobs. And now here you are with the Phillies color analyst. Going gonna be good. That's going to be great. Yeah. It's going to be outstanding started get that rhythm down. When you know when to pop in pop out. You know, me I us. Blurted out. We just run over everybody. What's the worst part about it? Having do not say a word when there's a homerun being hit. And like not sure oh my God. Once in a while though. It's good like we heard crew co when the giants clinched the pennant ten we heard Eric Davis. When was it? Alex Smith had that run against the saints. Vernon Davis in the end zone. Was does get caught. I mean, sometimes when that color analyst pops in there. It's good. Yeah. Just can't be overdone part work is that like look I get I get super excited. I know you do I love it. Offer any that's how I was. I tried to take my approach that I was in the dugout because you can't do the game the game. I would be like just nonstop. Yeah. But in the dugout just bringing energy and bring something that no one else has because you want people to follow that many people followed, right? I think it's fantastic. It's just a brilliant. Brilliant thing looking forward to it though, man. I really am. How long pitchers catch report with the thirteenth of February? Right. Well depends on who they are fourteen days. Two days away. If he's pointing at the plane. Rundown. Word fourteen homework. Thank you all players the nineteenth in an opening day. Fifty six days away. It's going to be here. In the blink of an eye before you know, just like that. We got to get into this the next. Well, I mean when we stopped talking football. We'll get back into the dream team. Oh, oh is that Greg down even more? But it's the point where like I gotta stop. I'm an idiot. I didn't know I continue to like throw numbers on getting yourself up over this. I'm not beating myself up. I just feel like I'm a nerd you're a nerd don't try to hide it. Okay. You're nerd where embrace it in reading nerds or cool now right urge are accepted in twenty nine hundred PISA nerd, right? Kind of your pseudo semi nerd nerds are cool. Want to be known as nerds, bro. I don't care. I think that's stigmas over with. We want to be known as social influencers. We want to be known as social. Influencers ones the fire festival. Oh my God. The fire festival again. Brutality brutality. All right. I want to get back into France and dream team. And all the numbers that he's crunching. We'll get back into baseball coming up next. And then now Roger Goodell had something to say today if you care about it. It's just one of every time he speaks Roger it's boring. It just drags on. He doesn't really ever say anything. They were talking about calling Kabir today. They were talking about the the non call for the past interference. But every time he answers the question. I mean, even would only take a few days to finally respond. Oh, finally, right. It just it's just a little while later. It's not even worth play. It's we're talking about but not worth playing because if I if I play it for you. It'd be more boring. What I sound like right now, by the way, stay woke. I swear to God every conference. Yes. Yes. They woke for ya. I swear he plants people to ask questions. Very does. Sure. Does. I don't. I don't. I don't deny that second. I absolutely I absolutely. We had to get the right people. I took that long to get the right people to get in there, actually. So that's why you know, he probably had a press conference set. And he looked at the question. How do you do such a great job every year? That's a great question there, drew. I just want to let you know that I put everything into it. And you know, I mean, I'm only one man. Yeah. Well, there's a lot to take Commissioner. I have a question for you Commissioner the question for how much how much charity work. Do you? Do it is just so important to be involved in the community. I don't wanna talk about referees or call a cabinet commission. I'm gonna talk about your community work. I'm really glad you asked that I do more than anyone as Commissioner of the NFL. There's no one that does a great job at our. We know that ceremony in the league, we know that community out, you know, outreach. We know that, sir. So whatever might be on concern of the game. Does not matter because it's really smart about what I do your. So brilliant Commissioner, you're so brilliant. I appreciate you saying that it feel like, you know, not everyone really respects it. But you come in here with the different attitude, and it really really impresses me. I have a follow up. Oh, how come calling externally? Well, you know, I've done a great job in in trying to make sure that there's no collusion. Oh, you're so right Commissioner, I know I've talked to each individual owner. You know, there's no colluding. No, absolutely. Not calling Kabir Nick if I could say his name, did I say his name, right? You pronounce the correctly Commissioner. Yes. So smart. That was great job. By those perfect. You're missing by the way, the little head nod and wink, like get this guy. I'm done with. I'm done with him Donald security security. It's like that. It's a softball questions and not nonsense. He's talking about. I mean. About the non PI call the call from Goodell. We understand the frustration of fans are talked to coach Peyton the team the players. Team's going Bs. Right. As he said that he didn't talk to us. Yeah. There's a lot of saints players that came out and said, no, he didn't we understand the frustration that they feel right now we certainly want to address that he didn't. He makes it sound like he personally win to the players and talked about it. I'm sure a Representative of the NFL speaking on behalf of the Commissioner went and talked to coach Roger Goodell, then go and talk to Coleman. He didn't go and talk to Michael Thomas. He didn't go and talk to Alvin Kamara or no not a chance. We did we rank him. We're we're talking about commissioners Cadel between Batman Manford silver Goodell. He's yeah. He's actually to by Adam silver. Oh, yeah. That's a very very very wide margin. Between those two Dana white. Broke Dana wasted four major sports. Right. The whites number one day nights number is number one in my world in my world. I like him a lot. He's a great job. If he ready to marry him. Wait samarium. I still say that sometimes too. I know it's never left all right away number. I want to get back to this. Dallas Brayden dream team France. And it's crunched so many numbers we have to get into. I can't even figure out which is best years in certain people here. That's what we're trying to do is figure out the best years these individuals. We'll do that coming up next Robert Kevin Franson. "Able to watch your your favorite team, you didn't have to be in that city? Yes. Mclovin. One thing that changed things was you with sportscenter. You would highlight Harry Kallis calls calendar. I was so proud is a Philadelphia in to hear you say that. So we got to know a little bit of the different voices through sportscenter. All right. We'll talk to Trento for join us coming up a poll question. Mclovin Woody hub. We get to Trent. Okay. We have Rams versus the field, and we have a Marconi related one that I can save, but we could start there who do you take Rams or the rest of the NFC as a favorite. So if you're four weeks after four days, look like who's going to get home field over them. So someone's going to have to go to l. a. and win in the playoffs. Also to factor in Garoppolo being out for the rest of the season, what that means for San Francisco, they were supposed to be an aide. Maybe nine win to in Seattle might not be as good as advertised in Arizona is not that good. The Rams could end up with thirteen or fourteen wins the way there. The they're built, certainly the offense defense like, I got questions, but you got a lot of time to figure that out. Trent Dilfer former NFL quarterback ESPN analyst in of Super Bowl champ with the ravens kind enough to join us Trent. Good morning. Thanks for joining us. How are you. I'm doing great. Dan yourself, I'm doing all right. I don't know how impressed I should be with the Rams. I know that we do overreact, but I'm curious as a former quarterback who played at a high level and you look at Jared Goff. What is the difference now with Gough as opposed to two years ago or even last year. Well, I think it's any time you're that perfect blend of talented, quarterback rape, play, caller skill, people around you. You know a lot lot of pieces around you. You're going to see this progression of a quarterback and the confidence come out. I think that's the biggest thing is total command, you know, soul coughing. So what he's doing, he's a very, very gifted player. It really bothers me when I hear people say just system guy like they minimizes talent. He's a peer. Pure passer has been since he was seventeen years old. I got to coach villa leave, eleven. I is tremendous feel for the passing game is playing of arm talent. You can threaten all areas of the field. He can throw it all. You can throw guys open. He can layer versus. I mean, he's really nothing he can't do with the football. I think it cow. He didn't have the total command of the position because of protection schemes. And now McVeigh and the protection plans they have in place and all the tools. They give him at the line of scrim. Image. He can play the game on his terms. He can get through the plays that he wants to get to. He can get himself protected. They have a great running game, obviously. And I, I think what you're seeing is is the fullness of a guy when you put the right pieces around them. I've, I've been really impressed like everybody else has this year, but I was impressed last year for a second year guy that had a rough rookie year to build to grow in the physician and win a bunch of games and be highly productive. That's what you're looking for in your quarterback. What would be your big concern with the Rams. Defense, probably. I mean, they're loaded personnel wise, but they play this that this has always been waged deal that he plays his style, a defense that when a team can attack the inside of the football field when they can get you when they can get a skill players mashed up on linebackers when they can get big plays against them, that that defensive scheme has a ten tendency to get gashed. But I don't, you know, they're gonna be playing from the lead. So with the lead so much. And like you just mentioned before I came on their division is so poor..

Hopefully, you'll have one this hour got a play of the day stat of the day coming up, by the way, our friends had Callaway created some Ryder Cup specific chrome, soft golf balls. And we're giving those way on our social media today. Also said of European golf balls USA golf balls to give away fans just need to reply with which team they think will win the Ryder Cup. And then we'll pick winners on Monday after the event wraps up. And we'll send out those golf ball. So really cool thing from our friends had Callaway Sunday night AFC north rivals clash in the steel city. It's the Steelers and the ravens football night in America. Seven eastern kickoff. Eighty twenty Sunday night only on NBC. All right, mclovin. What are you have? We're waiting for Trent Dilfer who will join us coming up. Okay. Can I start totally Adelaide field? And then we'll get to some real ones. Bob euchre's on in our three who is the most iconic baseball announcer of your lifetime. And I have a list. From Bleacher report that has at sixteen and decided to say seven names ahead of a Marty Brennaman. Jack bach. Phil Rizzuto Harry. Carey Harry callous, Ernie Harwell in Scotland VIN scully's number one on this list. The list is actually Scully one Harry callous to. And then Mel Allen is up there. But is Bob Yuka right in that list of the most iconic voices a baseball. No. I don't think he's an iconic voice because the brewers weren't very good. So you didn't hear his voice? He is a celebrity and his his best play by play. Or is most known play-by-play came in the movie major league, but he was in has been a celebrity for a long long time. So I don't think you think of Bob euchre as a baseball announcer, even though he's a great baseball announcer. You think have been Scully you think baseball announcer Mel Allen baseball announcer. Who's the most iconic of that group has been Scully? It has been or is Harry Carey sneak in because the oddness of all that he's a character. I don't I'd he wasn't a great broadcaster later in his life earlier in his life. He was Jack brickhouse. I mean, there's so many great ones Marty Brennaman. So hall of Famer Phil Rizzuto was a character. Yes. Yeah. That's to say how how much of this is just based on where you grew up because as soon as you say baseball announcer. The first person that comes to mind. Me is Phil Rizzuto. But I don't know that he would ever make that list. But that's growing up as a child and learning the game. That's who. I remember always hearing he's fourteen on this list. So he did make some back. Yeah. Yeah. Paulie? I would go Jack buck from the scope of how the reach of the cardinals back in the day on chemo ex. There were cardinal fans. All over the central United States, not just in Saint Louis. You can go to Arkansas all over the place. And even as a cub fan, I was respected Jack buck will you had Saint Louis you could pick up Campbell ex wwl w with the reds with Marty. Brennan at night, you could pick up a lot of these radio broadcast. And I think that that that's where you had this expansion where you became a cardinal fan, and you could have grown up in Tennessee or Braves, you know, when they had Ted Turner when he created TBS you were able to watch your your favorite team. You didn't have to be in that city. Yes, mclovin. One thing that changed things was you with sportscenter. You would highlight Harry Kallis calls calendar. I was so proud of the Philadelphia and to hear you say that so we got to know a little bit of the different voices through sports editor I will talk to Trento Peru will join us coming up a poll question. Mclovin. Woody. How do we get to Trent? Okay. We have Rams versus the field. And we have a Marconi related one that I can save we could start there who do you take Rams or the rest of the NFC as a favorite center four weeks after four day, look who's gonna get home-field over them. So someone's gonna have to go to L A and win in the playoffs. A factor in Garoppolo being out for the rest of the season. What that means for San Francisco they were supposed to be an aide. Maybe a nine win in Seattle might not be as good as advertised and Arizona is not that good. The Rams could end up with thirteen or fourteen wins the way there. They're built certainly the offense defense. I I got questions, but you got a lot of time to figure that out Trent Dilfer former NFL quarterback ESPN analyst, and of course, Super Bowl champ with the ravens kind enough to join us Trent good morning. Thanks for joining us. How are you? I'm doing great, Dan yourself. I'm doing all right. I don't know. How impressed I should be with the Rams I know that we do overreact. But I'm curious as a former quarterback who played at a high level and you look at Jared Goff. What is the difference now with Gough as opposed to two years ago or even last year? Well, I think it's any time. You're perfect blend of talented quarterback. Rape. Play caller skill people around, you know, a lot of pieces around you. You're going to see this progression of a quarterback. And then the confidence come out. I think that's the biggest thing is total command his whole cough coughing. So what he's doing? He's very very gifted player. It really bothers me when I hear people say Justice system guy, like they they met him is talent. He's a pure pure passer has been since he was seventeen years old. I got to coach bellied eleven tremendous field for the passing game play of armed talent you can threaten all areas of the field. He can throw throw guys open Lehrer versus. I mean, it's really not being he can't do with football. I think get cow leader. Now, the total command of the position because of protection schemes and now McVeigh and the protection plans they have in place and all the tools, they give him at the line of screen. Image. He can play the game on his terms. He can get to the place. He wants to get to e can get himself protected. They have a great running game, obviously. And I think what you're seeing is is the fullness of a guy when you put the right pieces around them. I I've been really impressed like everybody else has this year. But I was impressed last year for a second year guy that had a rough rookie year to build grow in the position and win a bunch of games and be highly productive. That's what you're looking for your quarterback. What would be your big concern with the Rams? Defense. Probably I mean, they're loaded personnel wise, but they play this. This has always been waiting deal that he plays a style of defense that when a team can attack the inside of the football field when they can get. They can get skilled players mashed up on linebackers. We're making get big plays against them that that defensive scheme has a tendency to get gashed, but I don't you know, they're gonna be playing from the lead. So with the lead so much and like you just mentioned before I came on their division is so poor. I don't have a whole lot of concerns for them in the regular season. It'll come down to playoff football. And if they're Oprah playoff while healthy, they are at the end of the year. And whether they can, you know, I think one thing you see at the Rams is. Yes, they will run the ball. Girly gets a lot of touches. They definitely wanna throw it down the field. Like what they want to do more than anything else is great chunk plays in the passing game. I think when you do get into playoff football. If you have to go on the road and play some more, bad weather. You gotta be stubborn with your running back. And are they willing to be stubborn was getting girly the ball in situations where they normally wanna throw how concerned would you be? If you're a Vikings fan today. I'd be concerned. But I'm definitely not an early season panic diety more the one thing I learned the last four or five years is of timber is still the preseason. You can you can lose it in September. But you can't win it. I don't think they've lost it yet. They're behind the eight ball little bit it would last night's loss. But teams are still learning in September. Now with the limited offseason practice with as little as starters playing the pre season we see this every year. And I've made the mistake of knee jerk reaction in September. You really can't teams are just starting to figure out who they are. I think are Tober is more telling than September. But I would not panic is a Viking fan. They're well coached. There are lots of good players. They've been there done that. I think they'll correct the things have gotten in trouble this point. I think they'll be a contender by the end. Now, I know that you've learned your lesson. You said over the last couple years, which leads me to the patriots the patriots after a one and to start if the patriots. Lose to the dolphins. Dot dot dot finished. Very concerned. But I would write them off. They don't look the same. But they are getting Attleboro back. They will grow offensively. I can see them trying to run the ball or bit. Moral bothered me. The other night was not able to convert on third and short. You know, there are one of the better third short teams league in the past. I think they'll fix those things with coach scar Nekia their offense Hawaiian coach. Again. They're the team you can never write off because they're all about development. They're all about how they are. Weak nine more than what they are a week two three four. So either history alone would be would make me say, I would still give them a very long leash. Even a fair to lose the dolphins. Talking to Trent Dilfer former NFL quarterback also contributes to the NFL networks Thursday night pregame show with the Soling science segments. If I said, you can have a quarterback for the next five years we have a draft coming up next hour, and you could you could you could pick any quarterback and you get him at his. Age, but you're getting for the next five years you have the number one overall pick and you would take ours. Oh, well hardest questions right now. I just doing this with Ryan russillo. The other day, I probably go with Wentz. And that's hard. I mean, there's there's seven eight good options. But I'd probably go with Wentz. Would you take Aaron Rodgers at age thirty four if you had him for the next five years? Probably not. And that was the one that probably not. 'cause age. I mean, he's obviously one of the greatest of all time. He does things that you know, literally, make your drought jaw drop every time you watch him play. But I again, this is one of the hardest questions at all football right now. And there's really no wrong answer with between seven eight nine guys. But I would probably go Carson Wentz. Explain what you're doing with the NFL NFL players association, the exclusive trading card partner.
