"Not a lot of substance to his material for me doesn't really like my fire that much but yeah he's a great technical player to me. That's about it this you know i would never wanna add rather be attacked by ants. North of one of his records. That's pretty harsh folk truthful laser. Being honest you know so like going forward like okay so out of all the lessons that derek hide has learned in his entire life. What are the biggest lessons that you've learned like for any child that might be or any anybody that might be listening. What are the lessons that you've learned that you could say you know. Hey like don't go down this path and like don't make this mistake and like like do this differently. What what would be the lesson that you could share with america. Oh gosh these questions do questions like are so far You know Maybe from my my own thing is like You know don't be rebellious. Be rebellious fight the power and all that but don't do it just for the sake of the rebellious you know like i wasted years like Rebelling against my mom and sister wanting need to go to college You know where. I could have like had it on like more efficiently and quicker Don't get fixated and stuck in bad relationships or toxic relationships with heat all not even. I'm not even talking romantically. But i've been stuck down a rabbit hole You know like Pursuing like bad friendships. bad romantic. What i saw it could possibly be romantic relationships that aren't working out or the person bad for the person is bad. Good You know and and just just causes you to waste time. You know i would try. Try not to try not to get involved in if you see something like and this is hindsight. I can't say that if you put me back to eighteen years old. That i wouldn't do it all again. But that's hindsight and it's easy to say that and give that advice but you know You know i. I know i wouldn't have been smart enough to take it. Well i think the thing about it is that Regardless a lot of times when you think back like us change that you wouldn't be the person that you are today with the knowledge that you have today without all the mistakes you might have made in the past. It's kind of a catch twenty two. It's like do. I really want to like actually not know what i know right now. Yeah i mean like. If i could go back i would instead of being a communications major. I would have majored in psych. Psychology really took took those as electives and really like those areas. Like my favorite most fascinating classes and i was like nah. I can do this. I can't get you know like the chain that. Yeah i'd probably go back and be a psych major and do something that you know It's fine. I still have a college degree and still works. You know. that's that's that's awesome and you know what you persevered through life and you know. I look forward to seeing your band out. If you have one positive message going forward to the entire world just from from who you are like one positive message for the entire world. what would it be. Oh my gosh that's Those broad stroke wake things on not really good at Can i get back to you on that one. That's like my coffee and just saying we think people.

"I don't think Courtney like. I don't think he did it because courtney necessarily know that. But i understand people hate courtney. Love's so they're going to say that stuff. And i don't like her as a human being to. She sucks as a human being. But but you know hey. Give her credit on you know. Those two albums are pretty good. You know. I think that she actually did the best with what she could. After that i mean. I think a lot of people blamed her for what had happened. It's like you know she was. She wasn't even in town. I don't know if you solve documentary. That francis being put up. That was a really unique documentary. Really kind of was unique. How she put that together. I thought it was really well done. I was watching that with my buddy joel. The other nights and it's very unique. You know. I mean it was very very very well put together but Anyway As we don't think things i don't like about her is like you know you hear stuff like she wouldn't talk to anybody or have a friend unless you were a platinum selling artist but then sort of like let What's her name tackling. Hannah from babes in toyland into her circle How punk rock street cred. And it's like yeah if you're if you're snubbing anyone who isn't a platinum artist punk rock courtney. Yeah you're you're sam that's punk rock you know it's kind of a narcissistic but she sucks being but i can like i can like some of her stuff you know i can separate the two yay. Yay i agree But what. I was going to go back and ask. You was as far as best guitarist and best bassist. Can you name it In your opinion oh gosh. There's so many good guitar players Different styles different ones It's really hard to say. Who's the best ron ashton from the stooges Probably defined a whole style that You know up through sonic us were constantly aping and still through to today You know. Johnny unders and other ones like who took Chuck berry rifts and fused it with loud roaring wyche punk You know in nineteen seventy three before there was punk rock You know so. i mean. He's incredibly influential As well that way Yeah keith richards You know incredible like legend of far player. Incredible rhythm guitar player. There's no denying that. I'm still trying to George harrison like some of his leads are so distinctive. You tell it's just him so only poison ivy from the cramps. She is like stellar like her guitar. Playing like just awesome bass players doing wearing zone. What do you think about steve. I r- What do you i mean. Do you think that. That's just who steve i guess. He's a technical leaning. he's a great guitar player. Technically it doesn't really do much for me. it's just acrobatics. You know you know. If i'd rather listen to jeff beck in the yard or for like stunt guitar like that It just there's.

Yeah i mean a lot of people would punch me over the head. But like i really even though i know everybody hates courtney love. I always just thought that. Like i really liked her anger. Back in those days and You know it is it was. It was at the time. But i'd be curious to see who you thought. Your best guitarist were Back on a on the going to get back to that in a second on. Jack courtney love yes. I think horrible. But i like whole i think whole is good. I i love The the lived through this record. And i love celebrity skin. They're good record. There's no denying you know he's a horrible human being. Do you think she's a really horrible. You think i really produced like the like. Do you think that kurt cobain was the majority. Or do you think there were a couple of other people in the band actually really produce the and she was just the face of it. Oh no i think that. That kurt cobaine. I think that's a conspiracy theory that whole no ordering that kurt cobain wrote all lived through this. I don't believe that for a second. That's just people that don't like courtney love because she's a horrible human being making you know we're not like she doesn't deserve that but i just true you know i just. I don't think it's true. But you're not that thing. Bet like he actually blew his head off of her no. I think he had a lot of depression issues. He had some You know he. He was A junkie which really screws with your moods to especially if you're predisposed alike. Depression or whatever You know I know he had horrible stomach. Machine used to and no. I think it was mostly like the old by probably chemical imbalance like that. 'cause like massive depression and i don't think it's.

This records suck weird like horrible nerdy guy us and she walked the planet like constantly. After about a week of that. I found myself borrowing it and taking it into my room and listening to the when she when she was out on a date or something and and then from coastal we went into the clash we went into blondie. We went into You know like the ramones that you know talking head just went from there just went from there so that was like yeah so my sister and i have always had she shaped my musical tastes at the oh and patti smith. We were driving into like when little bit few months later when we were fully into this new stuff She had a cassette of patty smith easter and we were blasted driving through like greenwich village looking for parking space. So yeah she she really did me a good service with that so i had punk rock it. You know like nine ten years old book because of her. Who do you think is actually the best female punk rock singer in your overall or at least the top three. Who who do you think would be the top three well. My favorites are I'll tell you all the ones. I still can like her news like those. I rented Yeah so i mean. There's a lot of good female punk or the The maybe not heard her singing so much but the band the slits are really cool Big there's a lot of good females in in punk rock especially Early on you know. So oh susie in the band cheese susie sue She's she's awesome. Yeah yeah she's awesome So yeah and as far as A female guitar player goes. She's not the singer but Poison ivy of the cramps is an amazing amazing guitar player and You know tina weymouth of the talking heads is an incredible like i never thought. Stop making sense until recently and I just thought like recently I don't know how that. I miss that but realized how much tina weymouth added to that band and and you know how important really was just by seeing the live clip. You know to to live concert movie So yeah yeah that that. That was the good thing about about punk rock twos. It led a lotta emails in whereas before you know before that there. There wasn't really as much you know. Oh and also poly styrene of the xbox she she wails like a cat but that album is germ free. Adolescence set album is just hodel classes. It's great. I'm gonna have to check that out People he touches on x ray specs or cool because she touches on like consumerism and all the the hollow point of capitalism in her lyrics.

"It's almost like seeing like you know three out of five new york altogether great after the show the promote or who put it together Had a joint. that was like waste coke. And he my singer. Myself and johnny thunders links group too so i can actually say i kinda did drugs with johnny thunders. Not that crazy drugs. He was doing but You should hire can still make that win. No no no no. I wasn't but yeah that was that was pretty craziness that was. That was a pretty crazy night. Obviously never forget you know stories like that are so unique and like nobody else can tell a story unless if you were there about something crazy like that so i mean you've got to have some very interesting stories especially like touring going around and like you know being in a band i mean. What do you have a other than these. Have like a specific show that you knew that you did the best job that you ever had done as far as playing guitar singing or you know Keyboards oh what most of them. Lots of them. Unless it's an off night. You're always doing that unless it's an off night. I mean that's the number one rule of show is is to get make them. You know we wanting more and even if there's only two people in the in the bar that you're playing play like at the pack you know because that's two people that will read the word or come again or bring people so you never just from sleep on it. Like i've had bad dukes. Though where like the technical difficulties brought it down And well like between meawhile back or whatever like yeah or guitar are cutting out or the mics aren't allowed enough or just bad horrible sound or something breaks and at first i would very much rattle me Until i've been doing this little while longer and eventually i learned how to overcome technical Things have still put on a good show too..

"Id so we you know we were able to go there. Get in and get drunk so In walks joey were there for like ten minutes and in walks. Joey ramone and he i. Of course i freaked out all over him and i was signed my shirt and then other people that are coming up to him. What stuff and he goes no I'm not doing that tonight. I just want to hang out. I told him a favor he finds my sir and he just goes up to the bar. There wasn't a lot of people in there. There was navy. Like i dunno like fifteen people but it wasn't crowded at all and You sat there and got really ripped and hung out with and was just very nice. Very cool you know so. And he had this groupie with them. That was being like ultra protective Any any female. That would go up to him. She was like You know doing her little aggressive pose but Because there was a guy she kinda left me alone but yeah he was super nice super super super cool and super nice and he just wanted to stand there. Have his drinks and get loaded after the show and Yeah it was real cool. That's really neat. Because sometimes you can meet Celebrities or people that you really admire. And and i like to say they just had an off day and they might not always be like mean but they just had an off day and you call them on that off day and you're like oh they weren't all what i expected them to be you know. So reported over to to him. He thinks this is all allegedly. Because we don't want to get anybody in trouble now johnny salt instead doesn't matter and everybody knows he was a drug addict anyway Okay so johnny. Salton takes And johnny salton would admit in any way. He's told the story to people He takes johnny thunders into over town. They don't and they come back. Very excited, let's put her own hope. Before the other F word comes out. We got if we're flying. You that was great. She is excited. She wanted thousand dollars uses. The F word extremely allows air. I wish. I wish that you know what one of the rules that we could put on hold during this corona virus thing is like using foul language on the radio. Can we just like let that go until we're back to normal? Well, why don't we? Ask Time. Doing say we've forgot the rules. That's all okay, okay Danielle. Companies that are forgiving your mortgage and auto companies that are letting you pay your car payment later tacking it onto the end like. Should say you know what right now if you need to say, these words to feel better and feel more comfortable. Relief exactly. Do. We have essential workers. We have essential language essential words we must use. The effort is so liberating. What's upscale? I heard a news guy. Call somebody in a hole on the news, and he was unapologetic about it, and they let it go right through, and it was online. I think we'll use that the other day to. True I think call someone a dickhead. The other day to didn't I. CAN WE USE IT? Yeah, you did. Okay all right. I think that's okay. Didn't we realized that's an all right word? Think so. Okay, let's move on. Hey, so we've got this idea and look I remember the old days. A Daniel used to say used to talk about a glory hole. What was it used to say about the glory hole. What I Remember I. Didn't remember you were talking about a glory hole in story once we're trying to tell you that glory hole is. I didn't I didn't know what it was yeah I. Remember the story, but I remember not knowing what it was at the time without going into detail, I have a new definition of glory. It's for your haircut. Okay, right. You. Stick your head through the glory. So what I'm envisioning is this because I I need a haircut. No one in the right mind who wants to stay healthy should be cutting people's hair right now, okay? So what I'm saying, you know how you put a window air conditioner in the window and you close the window down to hold it. Yeah so this is a glory hole contraption in Alex and I were going to put on masks and go to home. Depot and get the would to make this. Okay, here me out. So you put this glory hole contraption in your window closed the window, and it holds it in ended. It has a hole in it. Then you stick just the top part of your head through, but nothing that can emit like saliva or mucus or anything that can get anyone sick all the haircut her person will see on the other side is the top of your head with the hair, and then they can safely cut your hair from outside. It's the Hair Salon glory hole. WHO's with me? See needs another name. The name is perfect so I was talking about this with one of my friends yesterday when we came up with it and we want to. I'll send you the plastic that like seals around your head, almost like the bottom of door. You know how they have those little plastic things that suction, so that's stuff can't come in. It goes like that around your head and then your head. Head sticking through it. You do this because new this a women haircut. It's gotta be a little different. We have to be sed- seated up a little bit and our hair has a can't. Our hair can't all be back because you know you have to have layers in there and just can't be a haircut that goes straight across. Okay well, then we'll figure out a an angle. Alex you're the one who builds things. We should look the hairy whole. The Harry Hole we the Harry. How about that? Put on the sign outside of a hair salon? We have the new glory hole like it's not going to go well, you didn't. Alex's Harry, hold. People are texting in Harry. Hold as well they. Call it the Harry Hole Yeah. The Hair Salon Harry hole all right I'm in. Really something. But.
