Machine Learning Lifecycle 2021 Conference Preview

"In today's episode though we wanted to highlight our upcoming machine learning life cycle event. That's taking place. January twenty sixth through twenty eight. Twenty twenty one. I know that some of our podcast listeners signed up for our data for a conference that took place in september of twenty twenty and that was a really awesome event. we had hundreds of sessions. And you know lots of live sessions. Many more on demand with some incredible speakers at that event so just like with our data for a icon machine. Learning life cycle event is going to have that as well. We're going to have incredible. Keynotes incredible presenters and sessions as well really focused on that whole learning life cycle including m l. operations building models model management. So we'll have key five. He is for our sessions and our content for the upcoming machine learning life cycle event. If you like to check out that event we encourage you to go to life cycle. Comp dot com so m. l. life cycle co nf dot com. You can sign up as always. Our events are free to attend but so we wanted to spend you know a little bit of time going into the key. Main areas of focus for the sessions. And then some highlight. Some of the presenters sessions as well so the first area of focus is going to be on machine learning model development sessions in this will include and be focused on building and developing models so for supervised learning unsupervised learning reinforcement learning and then also across all different kinds of algorithms. So we talk about the three different types of learning and a lot of our podcast but just to go over that supervised learning through example unsupervised is learning through discovery and then reinforcement learning is learning through trial and error so that that area is going to focus really on model development for for that That all of that stuff. The next area of focus is going to be the machine. Learning model management so sessions in this category will focus on how companies should go about managing their models once. They're actually in production version eating life cycle management and then also aspects of that human side of management as. Well you know we don't want to forget at the end of the day. There are humans that are overseeing and managing this. So let's not forget about that aspect as well related to this idea of emo model management is this emerging space called ops mo operations which does overlap a bit and he talks about dealing with model life cycle in terms of The version being an iteration of models. And that's our of stuff but mls also keep an eye on the model as it's in production so things like model drift and data drift so these sessions on mo ops. I talk about what. Emma lops is how it relates to a related area which is taking a development code in the operational aspects of managing the development life cycle. There's a lot of things in common with that. There's a lot of different things though. Dealing with data drift a model drift and aspects of modernisation and models security and all sorts of things. So people definitely have sessions on. Emily ops quite a few and some emerging technology vendors that are expanding in the space. You're gonna wanna hear from them. Also we're to be looking at model governance so machine learning model governance. This is really focused on aspects of the the management of models in terms of access and control and decision making and who gets access to the various models and maybe differences in version in terms of. Maybe wanna keep multiple versions of a model around for different purposes. Maybe models trained in different data sets for different things you know. How do you handle. That can become very complicated. And you have to. Of course deal security and privacy and all these sorts of aspects. We're gonna be talking about that in the nfl model governance aspects. And of course we have lots of other sessions focused on adoption and development and management of machine learning models across the life cycle from people across the board who have been implemented on implementing machine learning. So just like our events we've have in the past We have three tracks. Are we have a track. That's focused on the technology side. So you can learn about how to do things and get insights on the from a from a technology perspective. We also have an industry track which is really focused on the industry applications. How are different industries applying these technologies. What are their use cases. What are the some of their lessons. Learned there's also some panels we might have from people. We do have actually throw people in different industries who are share around a similar topic and then of course we have large government and public sector contingency because governments around. The world are making use of machine learning for a lot of things. We're dealing with on our day to day basis of course dealing with things like pandemic and public health but still many other aspects of our life because the government's you know facing the same remote world that we are an ai machine learning Forms apart so we have incredible speakers and sessions and we'll we'll highlight a few of them right here in this podcast right so we have some great keynotes that we wanted to talk about. We have harrison smith. Who's the director of enterprise digitisation at the internal revenue. Service the irs. He's going to be talking about from digitisation to ai. How technology is transforming the government and in particular the irs. I know that many government agencies especially in twenty twenty digitisation and digitalization has been a big focus for that because as we shift from in person to remote work they've needed to really ramp up quickly a lot of their processes to make sure that people are able to stay functioning in their roles. So that's going to be a really incredible keynote. We also have maria wrote. Who's the deputy federal chief information officer from the office of management and budget ownby. She's going to be delivering a keynote as well about Ai in the government. We're also going to have tim persons whose chief scientists in managing director of the science technology assessment analytics team at the. Us government accountability office gao. He's going to be delivering a keynote about planning an agile government with artificial intelligence

"Of the NFL, wrapping up Monday a pair of teams Headed in opposite directions. Bears came out of the blocks quickly this season but have fallen since the Vikings rebounding since their one in five start, Vikings and Bears. Minnesota started with the ball ultimately would fumble away on the game's opening drive. Chicago, though, gives it back two plays later, second in 10, full shotgun steps up in the pocket pumps. Fires intercepted it picked up by the hit man. It was bobbled, but Harrison Smith has turned over the Chicago Bears. It's his third interception this season. 26 of his career. And Harry says, Take that review and I'm gonna bring it right back. Vikings get the ball right back, and they wind up converting it into points. It's 33 cousin. Six of 62 receivers left one right back to pass shade for the Anne's own hand. It is taught touched. Oh, Adam feeling with a 17 yard touchdown, he caught it on buster screen. It was a one handed left handed grab and the Vikings have taken us six sirrah lead. Okay. A van with a call in the second quarter bears intercept Kirk cousins and turn around to convert that into points. They get their second. Field goal of the night off that turnover, So it was a 76 game at the half Bears come out of halftime. And they received the second half kick. Dan Bailey puts it in the air. Cordell Patterson waiting for a big return five yards deep out of the end zone, trying to run it out down the sideline. Simply what the Bears needed. 105 yard kick return for Cordero Patterson and with it, he ties for the most in NFL history. Vikings would get a couple of field goals in the third. On their own. 20 accepts the snap pocket starts to close and falls has no where to go. He can't escape finally gets rid of the football. "The issue is now is that replay <hes> allows anything that is reviewable to be reviewed once replay his opened and nobody no fan is expecting to see if harrison smith is committed defensive pass interference but we find out that their receivers actually pushed off and now suddenly there's there's now a offsetting penalties as by rule through replay or a switch defensive. It's just offensive not defensive. No that's not happening happening. Come on man. That's happening harrison. I'm telling you i'm telling you i would. I would say that this is entirely possible to happen twelve on the field for instance okay harrison as you know. Here's here's a good example. You know aaron rodgers you know he likes to quick snap when perhaps one of your teammates gets off the field a little bit slower than needs to be and so <hes> let's just say mike zimmer says you know what i think i only eleven men on the field and that quick snap that led to a pass breakup down the field <hes> there was no free play their summer. Throw challenge flag to see where there's eleven or twelve men on the field. It comes back that there were eleven men on the field but at the end of the play <hes>. Let's just say just name out there. Xavier rhodes committed defensive pass interference so instead of it being saving yards. You now get a spot foul. I mean this is the sort of stuff that can absolutely happen harrison. That's my time with it. I believe that scenario. I was just i'm saying they're they're never going to overturn defensive a- to an office oh see you're saying you're now. That's a defensive player. Talking is what you're on now. I'm picking up what you're putting down down now. They would say gonna be unintended consequences though stuff that we can't even imagine right so that that's my concern on all this front but your your your your point was well taken though about how last year the roughing the passer stuff got fixed which means i guess the tweak equal come when the vikings earned that loss against the green bay packers. Is that what you're saying. There's a couple of more pronounced again. Okay 'cause we came in. You know <hes> critical won't be before. I let you go a lot of conversation about the n._f._c. North quarterbacks and chugging beers harrison <hes> where does kirk cousins stand on this in this competition and that's a good question you know we. We should probably should probably sure that up with him but you know we're not gonna. We're going to pressure them into that. I think it i think it didn't go go as well as some guys hoped it did. Form you know okay sounded like a good idea right if you're not good at it you know you probably should just leave it alone nine. I don't know i mean aaron. Cut nick ask her well. I mean could kirk. I mean could he. Is it a <hes> does he does he partake in a beer. I mean is that. Is that something that he does. Have you seen we're going to have. You're gonna have to have them on the show. Ask him maybe do facetime upward report so but is there. Let's put it this way then. Do you think that there is a correlation between the ability for quarterback to slam beer and win football games. Do you think that there is a direct line. I i do i do not. I think it's correlated no so that answers my question that kirk cousins does not slam a beers wasted the what you're saying <hes> no no doesn't answer because maybe i don't know maybe it's something else like someone else that they do. Scotch okay that's true. You know what drinkers choice it is. Aaron does look like he sips instead of slash right. He's got some fine scott. I'm sure he does <hes> harrison. I always appreciate our chats. I like i have no. I tell you to be back on right. <hes> right back at you as i i tell you every single time i always appreciate the way you play football and your honesty here on the show..

"Boy all pro free safety from your Minnesota Vikings missed up Harrison Smith. Harrison's traps, literally just broke my left hand. Those are the traps of the gods. My friend the traps of the guns. Harrison, you grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee, correct? You just drove from there yesterday. Did you know a little bit of snow, but made it could miss you guys. Sometimes it snows in April. I know you'll like the Knoxville Tennessee, that's the capital of the world and third grade Harrison Smith you were faced with the choice. You could stay on the travel it you did your research personal Wikipedia. Amazing. Media. It's a million. You can only stay on the trouble Sochi begin you first year of tackle football. I read a quote with yours where you said, I pick Soka at instantly regretted it. Why why why I mean? So I love the game. But like you said about my traps like I was built for football us threats. I felt frappes of many suck at soccer players soccer players. Do not have those have the cardio for soccer either. So after I mean, I love soccer, and I was playing it. But I just missed a little bit of the contact of the American game. So so I had to choose it. But I still I still attribute, you know, having good footwork and things like that from playing soccer at a young age. I love this, quote, the you would often come home from soccer practice a football uniform and a hell head out to the front law unquote, smash yourself into a group of thirteen Patrie's. Yeah. Yeah. I had I had some problems when I was a kid, and I thought it worked. I still got the play soccer and seventh and eighth grade. So we'll say slushing yourself into pantries is exactly how Clint Dempsey used to play soccer as a professional. So when I read the want a loss, you were a USO. And if anyone is here from the US silica tonight, another one full, so USO dilemma, sir. That Harrison other than other than the violence. What kind of a soccer player was young Harrison Smith, actually, I kinda played every spot. I played from forward center mid defensemen goalie and honestly there was violence as well. So honestly. Familiar? Yeah. I mean, I think I think at the young age, I don't know if we did the card system, but I was I was given some starting talking to. And I mean, my my rightful place was the American game. So I apologize. Well, soccer's lost football's gain you a draft at out of Notre Dame in the first round in two thousand twelve by your Minnesota Vikings. You wasted. No time in establishing yourself in the league. I know you're from Tennessee. But the way you play unleashing massive hits. Then just brushing yourself off without wanting any attention. You might be the most Minnesota style player of all time. I take that as a compliment I and and it's also like not fully on purpose. I I've tried the celebration thing and I get too excited. Then too tired like my heart rate gets up too much. So I'm just like it's too much for me. I'd rather just I got the next play coming. Feels friends did the did the soccer celebration. Knee slide at Wembley feeling feeling. Did the niece lied, and he actually entrusts it to Kendrick's does the he's done the Rinaldo that jump yet turn it. But I don't know. It's kind of dangerous with the knees. So we told you dangerous dangerous to do anything Rinaldo trust this quads are so big. So so the NFL guys the violent game though. I don't do the Alto celebration for us got. Got. Yeah. Yeah..

"And it was I don't know what she's player lower their home it initially. And then as a defender like what what else are you supposed to do besides? Yeah. Do the same thing venture. But yeah. But the defender obviously got the flag. So, you know, I it's definitely. It's definitely a hard. You know, it's hard to to do some of those things. But that's that's you know, that's why NFL got the best of the best out there and you try to try to play within the game. And then like I said let that decision makers. Are you still bullish on the future of football? Yeah. You know, like you said, you know, as a defensive guy, I you know, I don't like rose against the defense. But you know, I think in the long term it's going to be good for the game. And it's gonna it's gonna keep around 'cause you know, with with everything going on kind of the vibe around football, the past few years has been you know, that that people are getting there's too much head trauma and all this. So we gotta find a way to to to lower that. Finishing up with Harrison Smith of the Minnesota Vikings. I'll end with this Harrison, I'll I'll just ask you when you're a kid growing up in Tennessee. And even when you were a safety at Notre Dame. Could you have envisioned the success that you would have had to this point near career? And if you were to maybe give a little bit of advice to a young player today. He was looking at you and said, I wanna be like Harrison Smith. What would you say for for starters? No, no. I I never really thought I would play in the NFL I wanted to. But I never, you know, it's it's. You gotta have some lock on the way as well. I think my advice would be, you know, young. I I used to play anything whatever it was. I was going to play. And then once I started getting recruited and go into a big time college football program. You start thinking about the NFL. I think that I think that was kind of the worst thing for me at a point. I just started saying, you know, whatever I'm gonna worry about it. I'm gonna go playing up on. But it's hard as I can do everything I can to make every play and not worry about what comes next. So I that's how I still try to play. Is that is that right now moment not not saving anything for the next play or the next game or the next year? He just leave it all right now. So whatever you're doing whether it's football or any other sports. You know, I believe that's the best way to approach it to leave everything out there. Every time you step out on the field. Harrison Smith safety the Minnesota Vikings, really appreciate your your lessons and your thoughts and your education about what it's like to play this game today. Thanks. Thank you very much. Thanks to my guest, Philip Lindsey of the Denver Broncos and Harrison Smith of the Minnesota Vikings. In the week-to-week NFL, it's all about survival

"From Minnesota. There was a chance that. Vikings might get the football back down eight but a stupid personal foul penalty on Harrison Smith only would have been second down. But I mean, he's he took a shot at Trubisky late. So you'll get a chance to see the bears on Thursday thanksgiving but Arne getting back to that. Cowboys win today over the falcons and now especially with the Redskins are a quarterback without. Oh my goodness. What a horrible horrible injury. That is. I mean the divisions there for the Cowboys for the taking. Yeah. Don't look now. But Dallas when we're talking about the NFC east is a game behind Washington there at five and five Washington is at six four listen, we'll we'll get to the eagles in the falcons. I know the falcons are in the east, but we'll get them coming up in just a bit. Hey loan. Behold. Arnie maybe the team that looked the best today in the NFC east. Your New York Giants any Eli manning three and seven only three games out of first place right now, but got saquon the boss oil, and that looked a little better about to welcome back them to the division. Title race. Don't take away from it. I will take it away from you yet. I'll let you I'll let you have it for a little bit. I mean, I still believe the raiders can finish eight now. So. Give me give me another week at least with the giants. So foreign six three and seven for the third and fourth place teams. But here's Dallas. Now just a game out in the fife and five and they get Washington on Thursday on a short week with the new quarterback. Washington's gotta go out and find a backup quarterback as well to beyond Colt McCoy. So I dunno Arnie. I almost feel like that. This is a team that for many weeks. We've tried to bury we've listened to the frustration from Bobo our technical director is a diehard Cowboys fan. So he's been frustrated. But now all the sudden with the Lincoln Riley rumors and the Jason Garrett gone the trade from white Cooper's working out now. And they're giving the ball to Ezekiel Elliott. And here we are spending. Most of our first seven minutes talking about Dallas and a resurgence. I got him. I'm as much as you say you call this. And I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm shocked by this over the last couple of weeks that we started with that is because if we started with this takeover. For the show, but I'm going to say it. Anyway, someone's looking for a quarterback what better place for a quarterback in the nation's capital? Then Colin Kaepernick, I mean, what a what a fit that would be all going the Washington playing in Washington. Can you imagine? I mean, a name need one pretty bad. All right. I got a double check who had tweeted that in. I someone was looking at the under over under eight minutes into the show. You would. How about that? I think that was I think that was the over under. I'll have to double check. Oh, yeah. Mike how many minutes into the show this Arnie talk about capper Nick going to Washington? Even though the last time he played Arne was dating supermodels beating Kerr one on one with a nice flowing ponytail. I say two minutes. So actually we hit the over there. I'm sorry. How could you not know? How is that? Not a perfect fit for everybody around for a team that needs an emergency quarterback. But see that could work against them. If they need emergency quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, I dunno. It may take him a while to to get up to speed. So they may have to go with somebody who's you know, a little bit more ready to play. And it's so crazy because you hear these same names rotated over and over Mark Sanchez already was the name that was brought up today. Someone that they might bring in for a workout. How about wait? What's Nathan Peterman? All right. Brought him to Indianapolis or someplace like I don't remember what they brought him into. Oh, man. So tough news today for the Redskins. Not only did they lose the game. But they lost their quarterback in a gruesome injury and shades of the Joe thighs men injury whenever we were kids. It was just good task. We'll get to that coming up in just a bit. But let's stick real quick with this cowboy falcons game from another perspective. What are the hell has happened to Atlanta? I mean, I understand injuries play a major part, right? I get it. You have what's he's had a couple of changes in the coaching staff not a lot. But this is just I mean, this was an offense that was deemed next level. It was it was cruising. And now. Thank you. Thank you. I didn't have to say it Bobo had it. But it was it was really bad really bad army. I don't know where it's going. I mean, look it's one thing to take a little bit of a dip. But what they're going through. It's just you know, it's head scratching their even with injuries. They still have a pretty good offense out there. They shouldn't be having a four six record. This is ridiculous. You shouldn't be losing to the Cowboys at home. You're much better team. Where's that offense? What's going on with Matt Ryan? I know you don't wanna point, you know, all the blame at your quarterback. But under three hundred yards. You know, you've got Julio Jones there, you still got him to go ahead and throw the ball to you got some new you've got weapons around you. What's going on out there? I got to start pointing the finger would Matt Ryan. And I thought a couple of weeks ago in part of this might have been because I opened my big dumb mouth Atlanta to go to the Super Bowl. I thought they'd won three straight. Why? Didn't think they had they had they had won three straight games after a really ugly loss to Pittsburgh. They beat the buccaneers. They slid by the giants and then they put a pretty good weapon on the Washington Redskins. But then they go to Cleveland, and they get beat last week. They lose the Cowboys today and Arnie their next three games are at New Orleans home for the suddenly I'll know I don't wanna get carried away on the Mark Jackson. We'll talk about that later. Suddenly resurgent ravens. And then they go to Green Bay those are three even on Green Bay's not playing its best football right now. But already they could be four and nine for sure gonna be foreign seven when they play the saints next week with the way that things, but what the hell is going on in Atlanta right now, it's a tough question to try to answer. And I wanna to say something also go up surprised that you did start with the Cowboys in Atlanta considering the biggest win today put somebody into the Super Bowl. And I thought that's where you were going to start you you really bury delete. I hate the skull. You on the air back and say you buried the lead because the Pittsburgh Steelers with their win today. Just put them in the Super Bowl. Meaning they'll beat the patriots at home, which means they'll get the number one seed, which means this year Velgo to the Super Bowl buried elite. Well, you know, it is kind of shaping up a little bit for maybe a Pittsburgh New Orleans slash Lossiemouth battle in the Super Bowl. I think we'll learn a lot tomorrow night. This is crazy because here we are Sunday night and a majority of the time the Monday night football game. Here's a conversation. We have as we're heading out the door in our final segment. Sunday, Monday night, football's usually, hey, don't forget tomorrow night. We'll see next week. But now with the Rams and the chiefs. I mean, I I don't know Arnie I- Kansas City quite a bit. But you're right. I mean, I know knock on Kansas City because I know as soon as I say anything about Kansas City. They start dogging on the raiders. Yes. The raiders stink. You're really good this year. How does that make you feel better? But you you can't help. And I know it's all difference because it Mahomes, did, you know, Patrick Mahomes likes catch up to not hear that at all on social media. Yes. I'm actually with you on this one. I now Arne because I love what Kansas City is doing. I'm enjoying watching them play. But you know, what they have sold a short in the playoffs before they have disappointed when we thought they were the team to beat. We have heard. Hey, things are different this year. You just wait till we get to the playoffs. Guess who's consistently been there and consistently got done the Rodney burger?

And Howard picks his way over the left side and fights inviting stereotype near the forty six yard line before Eric kendricks. Can make the stop. And Jason every time the bears run the football up the middle. You don't think they're going very far. And then they end up a five yards at the end of the. Yeah, they're just with allows good job at his leaning on Minnesota's defensive line. Moved them off the ball. And. Scars wondering Baxter. Jordan Howard, hitting the downhill pretty hard to slam it up in there. If you can get five yards. I bailed make a second or five. You can do so many things play action pass the ball. You still run the ball? Again, leave us up with a third and short, and it is second and five of the Viking forty six yard line Trubisky. Under some pressure set up the street a Cohen Cohen Jerry to the right side of the right sideline to the forty yard line. And the speed got him out of traffic and got him a first down at the forty that play had Vikings all over it. But Tariq Cohen was faster than everybody else. You. Yes, it did play was sniffed out by the Minnesota. Vikings and Harrison Smith came in the backfield with Theriault three Cohen. I mean, he is a mismatch nightmare. Gets out on the edges whether it's a safety as we dissolve there with Harrison Smith or linebacker. He is very very difficult to get in ground space. And that'll be the final play for the moment because we have reached the two minute warning brought to you by kid. How old are your smoke alarms replace today? With kid is worry free alarms. Joshua Bellamy the wide receivers and Tariq Cohen getting the nod ahead of Jordan Howard tonight at running back. Cohen the single back from the twenty one yard line. Now Cohen emotion out of the backfield. The slot left side now goes in motion from left to right gets the hand off on a sweet Cohen a little stutter step at the twenty five. And he's tripped up at the twenty six by Eric kendricks the middle linebacker from UCLA defensively for the Vikings. The Neil hunter and Everson. Griffen limbaugh. Joseph and Sheldon Richardson along the line Ben Gideon along with Eric Wilson the outside backers Wilson starting for the injured Anthony Barr, Eric kendricks who made that tackle in the middle. Trae Wayne's Xavier roads are the corners Harrison Smith and Anthony Harris starting for the injured Andrew Syndey ho at the safety spots second and five of the twenty six yard line, Jordan Howard. And now is the single back to receivers to the left of line motion coming across for Miller from left to right and now back to the left side. Again, they faked the give to him on the street that give us the Howard and Howard is dropped for a loss of the backfield. Penetration from Harrison Smith into the backfield drops him at the twenty four. Four and it's thirty seven. Try to piggyback is second down play with a playoff of their first downplay, which is emotion the jet sweep and pro ticket the opposite direction, but Harrison Smith had known of it where the Dallas does it out. Put him in a third down situation to terrific defensive teams. Both in the top five in the league in total defense entering this weekend. Third down and seven. Vikings allowed just an eighteen percent conversion rate on third and four plus. So this is gonna be a tough one on third and seven Trubisky from drops throw pressure coming steps away. He's in trouble trying to run to the twenty-five leaks out to the right side at the thirty five feet. And he's got a first downs. A thirty three yard line. Bisky tripped up by Neil hunter. But Jason he missed three or four Vikings. I'd say they missed him. But he really miss them as he moved around for the do in life. Nice job in the backfield initially to step up get away from the pressure gets out in the edge. And then just bouncing off a bodies. He's bouncing off.

"He said, after the game that the jets new the hand signals and new place for being called before the snap is that's something that makes sense to you. Yeah, I saw that report, you know, every now and then you'll maybe see a hand signal or something but to. No, I think to know every play that's coming beforehand, I think that's probably probably a little overblown. I don't know. I'm not sitting in those meetings, but you know, you try to watch as much as you can and and pick up on formations down to distances and sometimes you know you're prepared and they right, exactly what you think. And then other times they're on things you've never seen before seen before, you know. 'cause 'cause everyone's good in this league players, the coaches and everyone adapts. So you know if if that's what he says is that's great. You know normally a little harder than that. Yeah. I mean, you play the lines twice though. I mean, so it's not just watching film. It's it's a team at, you know, better than most. Is that? Is that something you've been able to pick up just a. A hand signal and you see it and you know what's coming Harrison. Specifically with the lion? Yes, sir. No, I I mean, I can't. I can't second that just 'cause you know, maybe maybe I'm not as good as studying film. I don't know. I, you know if they did. That's awesome. I hope we can do the same, but what can you pick up and film seriously? Walk me through that a little bit. It kind of depends on how they're kinda spliced up. You know, sometimes you can see see a little bit pre snap stuff. Sometimes you can't. You know, normally just like just like they watch our film, you know, kind of what our favorite things that we do, try to try to do that with them. And you know, personnel groupings and downs and distances and scenarios of the game, you just try to kind of sim sim simulate those things in your mind, and and the scenarios you could be faced with the game comes around. Well, we've gone this long avenue even mentioned the name, Kirk cousins, so I might as well do it here than than the notion outside of your stadium. Locker room is that same team sensually couple more improvements. Kirk cousins in here just roll the footballs out. You guys have a Super Bowl team out of respond to that. That I think them would be pretty upset with me. If I, if I agree a role in the football out, he actually says that term a lot about how this show and all the footballs out. Yeah, you know if he thinks we're getting a little lackadaisical or something, so we, you know, we definitely don't have that that feeling in the locker room or in the building and no matter who's on our team or how much high forgetting outside the building that stuff that we don't let affect us. We just focus on inside the building what we're doing, you know, making plays when they when they arise. And that's offense. Defense special teams and and Kirk has come in and and you know, already made a this tremendous impact for offerings, but also defense working against the practice has been awesome, and it's helped us out a lot. How so? Just because he's he's such a good player and he's he's very quick to learn about the things that we're doing and how we're trying to attack him. So he tries to counter that. So it just keeps us honest and and really gives us good competition throughout the week. All right. Tell me about the big tackles campaign that you're doing for third season role. Harrison Smith? Yeah, big brothers, big sisters in twin cities. You know, try to raise money for them for mentorship for the youth here, and you know, I don't ain't for every tackle that I make. And if you wanna match it, WWW dot big tackles dot org. You know, help me out how big brothers, big sisters out. It's a great organization. So doing good things. "That's literally all you can do. You can't do that. But it's not just a game. I mean, this is Aaron Rodgers. This is the Packers. This is the Vikings. This is the NFC north. Hold on. Let me let me continue setting this up. This is this the guy that Anthony Barr knocked out. I'm telling you, you know what I mean? Yes, yes. Yeah. I mean, I'm sure that that storyline will will get a lot of heights. You know, especially with the new rule changes and everything. You know it is the division games, no matter who it is, you know, they, they are big, especially when it comes down to the end of the season, and people are positioned for playoffs. So you know, we, we understand that we also understand, you know, the pride that the Vikings fans have, you know, with this kind of border battle. So we we understand that and and and you know, ramp it up, but it's not, you know, it's not make or break right now, but we will definitely try to bring a game. You mentioned that rule that you mentioned about not allowing to put your body weight on a quarterback when you sack him. Do you ever talk about that with Anthony Barr in the locker room. No, we don't. I mean, we we, honestly, we do talk about trying like how to play within the rules a lot just because it's hard to always sack of quarterback and then slide to the side of them. It's just it's hard to do in real time. So we talk about those things, but you know, I think he took a lot of heat on on social media and stuff last year from from people. So it's more of a joke than anything for us. So what are those conversations like when you're a defender talking with your coaches or amongst your your colleagues about the rules about lowering your head about moving your body to the side, about doing all this and trying to play his instinctively as you possibly can cause that's in many ways. What got you to this position to play in the National Football League Harrison Smith? Yeah, I think you know, normally these conversations start with divas players complaining saying how hard it is stuff, but that that doesn't help us to complain about it like they made the rule. So now we have to figure out. How to play within it. So we, we talk about just, you know, lowering kinda lowering your target instead of launching and aiming. You know, just kinda recklessly consciously thinking about when you're making a break but already lower in that target, keeping your head up wrapping up. As long as you're trying to do those things, you know, maybe an accident hair here there happens, that's that's the nature of the game. But if you're trying to do them, that's that's, you know, if you have that intent beforehand, it normally translate translates to, you know, cleaner tackles was in the rules of the game today. Viking safety Pro Bowl, safety Harrison Smith couple more minutes left with him here on the rich Eisen show last night Monday night, football, Darren, -ly of the jets picked off. "As I said, I think they'll be talking about that win his comeback from being on the cart being down by three scores, they'll be talking about it on the day. He gets his bust and jacket and the whole fame. Taking on a Vikings team that looked impressive turn over Jimmy Garoppolo as many times they did Harrison Smith of the Minnesota Vikings in that secondary two-time Pro Bowl of first team. All pro last year here. Now on the rich Eisen show, how are you doing Harrison? I'm doing well how always really appreciate it. What were you able to to see out of Garoppolo that you were able to exploit that other defense's have had trouble doing Harrison. You know, it always starts with with our guys up front, whether pass rush and they, you know, they make things a little easier for us on the back end when they're getting pressure and and getting the quarterback off the spot and getting them uncomfortable. So you know, that's where we start. And then we just try to cover on the back end and take take advantage of the opportunities when they arise. That's very Bella checking. So just do your job is basically what you're saying right there. Yeah. I mean pretty much you know, we, you know, we've, we play a lot of passion and we study throughout the week and and just laid on the line on Sundays. But you know, as a defensive back, you know, when we get when we get interception or something, and people get all excited, I always like to look at the d line. 'cause they normally affected that play more that people realize. There is an I in Harrison and Smith for you to say something like that. It's. It's it's a team mentality right there. So let me ask you this Harrison Smith. Who do you think you see under center in lambofield on Sunday, Aaron Rodgers, Sean Khazar. I mean, I I, I watched the game Sunday night and and I saw, you know, obviously Rogers came back and you know, let them to an amazing comeback. So you know, he's he's capable of doing credible things on the field. So I wouldn't be surprised to see him out there. So we just gotta get ready for for both. I guess, I guess so. But so you're, you're expecting to see twelve when it's all said and done. I mean, yeah. I mean he came back in that game, so that's that's what I would expect. I mean, we'll see what you know. We haven't really been able to get our meeting and yet on until tomorrow. So we'll see what the coaches are thinking. What does this game mean week too. You know, hey, I hate to sound Bella checking again, but you know, it's the next game. It's the biggest game. One game at a time with me Harrison Smith..

Philadelphia Eagles, Vikings and Kirk Cousins discussed on Skip and Shannon: Undisputed

"Kirk cousins made his Vikings debut on Saturday and Denver, and look, radio only played one series, but when a perfect four, four, including touchdown, pass to step on days. Last week we should report put the Vikings number one in their preseason power rankings, and we are now joined by vox NFL analyst and former Viking, Greg, jenning. Thank you for joining us on this Monday. This is an easy question for me, but I like your opinion, is Minnesota the best team in the NFL? No, they are not. No, they're not. Philadelphia Eagles are the best team in National Football League. There are most recent Super Bowl champion. They have not done anything that leads me to believe they did not get better. They did not improve going back to the Vikings. However, if if I were to rank them, I would rank them one to somewhere around there. The NFC is so cluttered at the top right now. There's there's so many great teams that have great potential vite the Vikings being one of them. Obviously, we saw where they ended up last year. But here's why I say that they're not when you take a quarterback in case keenum who let's say he was a b to a b, plus quarterbacks his with his performance with this performance. Then you, you take him, you remove him and you insert Kirk cousins. You don't gain that much. You get better in my opinion, but you don't gain enough to where I can just automatically say you're the best team. Now, when I look at the way they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in that NFC championship game, if they have Kirk cousins, do they win? I don't think so. So I don't give them the throne just yet. They have to prove it in their schedule will let us know real soon whether or not they can handle being one of the bullies in the NFL right now they have a, they have great depth. I love their coach. Probably one of my favorite coaches in the NFL right now and Mike Zimmer. I think his mentality, his approach his his way that he has shifted the kosher there. It's permeated through every single player. Only the players, but the people within the organization, just his approach to the game in his approach to winning. And I don't think that you can just dethrone the Philadelphia Eagles with the moves that they made in acquiring Mike Wallace lowly, NADA, Michael Bennett. All these other guys, acquisitions, let alone they get Carson wins back at some point this season. And that last point. This is why say yes, gift, because I don't know the health status of Carson Wentz currently, and you look at what Minnesota's done with this. You look at their delight limb Bill Joe's Everson Griffen Harrison Smith Kendrick bar. They're loaded defensively offensively. Now they had they were, I think, pro football focus. Bleacher reports. They had the number one receiving core with the day. Rudolph bring down and cook back down and cope with having an unbelievable year before he went down. Now the the thing that separates them that a no break. Owner, if Phillies line is good, as we got next Dallas, they might have the second best offense of land. I believe Kirk cousins is substantial upgrade over case keenum substantial.
