"Miller. Stephanie Miller. And everybody come on now let's get started I'll change it yeah. Yeah. One. Anita in San Antonio. Hello. I didn't know. Good morning guys. Hey, you know, I'm getting kind of tired of all the hero worshiping of Liz Cheney. You know, when she was asked, do you regret anything? She said no. And I was wondering if she regretted having voted for Donald Trump twice. Yeah. Yeah, and she voted with him. What was it? 92% of the time. So, yeah. Yeah, and then she's pandering to Republicans when she says, oh, you know, Donald Trump is using your patriotism against you. That's not patriotism. When they didn't get their way, they just threw the constitution out the window. Yeah. And used violence. Yeah. So how is that paid to those people aren't patriotism and Donald Trump is using their fear and hatred against, you know, abusing their fear and hatred. Yeah. And he's weaponizing their, you know, I don't know what that is. Patronage is their racism. Yeah. White supremacy. They're based awful values. You know, the allows them to be their worst possible selves. Exactly. He prays upon their worst but that's not patience. Yeah. Exactly. But it's not patriotism is what I'm saying. Yeah. No, you're right. You're right. You're taking bags of the worst of them. What do they are? What is our drop saying? I forget, taking back God, taking back the flag. Taking back America. And all before breakfast. With fart jokes. Taking bread God. Taking back the flag. Right. Taking back America and all before breakfast. It's the Stephanie Miller show. And also. I'm sure God farts. Right. Okay. Yes, here is our velociraptor again. We've now got one major political party. My party, which is really become a cult of personality. And we've got to get this party back to a place where we're embracing the values and the principles on which it was founded. And talking about fundamental issues of civics, fundamental issues of what does it mean to be a constitutional republic. But congresswoman, you didn't answer me yes or no. Yes, I know that Donald Trump, I will be doing whatever it takes to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office. Okay, all right. We share that goal. It's the only use. Maybe we could be the scorpion that the frog. Maybe she could be the fraud in the scenario when she gets this across the river. We can. Yeah. Because the normal Republican value is we're also offered. Yeah. What could that be? What could we do? Well, I'm just saying we could be the scorpion and not the frog. So right, I'm just usually the frog. Right. Yeah. Michael Steele. Michael Steele told me he was the scorpion that was going to sting me when we get across the river. And I still love him. Okay. Steve marmel, our Friends. Well, you would date him, but your occupation. But you have a girlfriend. Now I can anymore. I feel like there's a list of men that madam X is going to go after now. Okay, stop it. Listen, Steve marmel, our friend comedian extraordinaire. Because we were trying to figure out the Harriet hagman, what, what's wrong? Jack Nicholson from the Joker? Is it Eddie azar? I don't know. That comes from living in a state without a Sephora. Okay. Steve marmel said the obscure Batman villain crazy quilt just became Wyoming's Republican nomine because she was also wearing like a thing that looked like a crazy quilt in addition to the wrong shade lipstick and also well, she does look a lot like the Joker. "By the way, Laura Ingraham last night, Harriet hagman was on it. I really thought she did a good job of explaining what happened in Wyoming last night. Joining me now is Harriet hagerman, the Wyoming congressional candidate who just defeated Liz Cheney, Harriet. First of all, congratulations. I remember talking to you before you decided you were gonna throw your hat in the ring for real. And now, you know, you got it, girl. You're gonna be the nominee for the party and I can't imagine you won't be the next congresswoman from the great state of Wyoming. Well, thank you, Laura. It's wonderful to be back with you. We started this a year ago or about 11 months ago and here we are with all of the hard work and the support of the great people across the state of Wyoming and all of our volunteers and supporters. We've been able to succeed. Did Liz Cheney call you and congratulate you. How is the tone of that conversation? I haven't had an opportunity to visit with her. We have been kind of wrapped up in all of the stuff associated with what's going on downstairs with our watch party as you can imagine we have several hundred people downstairs ready to celebrate who've been celebrating and so I have not been able to even look at my phone, so I don't know if she's called or not. So I don't really have anything to report on that. Oh, that's interesting. Did you happen to hear that part of her speech was a continued vow Harriet to make sure Donald Trump never steps foot in The White House after what happened on January 6th. Which was not, I guess not surprising that she said that, but your reaction tonight. Well, again, I have not had an opportunity to even see or hear what she had to say because I've been kind of focused on what's going on here.

The path was clear, but it would have required that I go along with president Trump's lie about the 2020 election. It would have required that I enable his ongoing efforts to unravel our democratic system and attack the foundations of our republic. That was a path I could not and would not take. "Sriracha for breakfast at land decker for dinner. USDA approved. Welcome back to the Jim bohannon show one 8 6 6 5 O Jimbo one 8 6 6 5 O 5 four 6 two 6. As Tim McGuire reports that Wyoming congresswoman Liz Cheney has conceded to Harriet Hagan her Republican primary opponent backed by Donald Trump. Wyoming Republican representative Liz Cheney loses a GOP primary to Harriet hagman, a lawyer backed by former president Donald Trump. After conceding the race, Cheney told supporters. Now, the real work begins. The three term member of Congress and co chair, the January 6th committee, says former president Trump and his allies at the national state and local levels are a threat to the nation. If we do not condemn the conspiracies and the lies, if we do not hold those responsible to accounts, we will be excusing this conduct, and it will become a feature of all elections. America will never be the same. Cheney adding. I have said, since January 6th, that I will do whatever it takes to ensure Donald Trump is never again anywhere near the Oval Office, and I mean it. I'd Tim McGuire. So not surprising result, the polls at all indicated that such a total thrashing would occur. In fact, the outcome was determined very early in the evening. It was roughly a two to one victory for a hagerman. 30 some percentage points. And still to come tonight, the Lisa Murkowski, Alaska, senator, and she is in a battle with a Trump back to opponent in Alaska, but those results may come later than we're in fact on the air here. Interestingly enough, rikko ski at one point in her Senate career ran for reelection, lost the Republican primary, ran into November as an independent and one reelection. So that's an option available to her, my guess would be it would be an option available to live Cheney although I doubt that she would carry enough votes to pull it off, but nonetheless, so we shall we shall see, but again, to primaries of considerable interest tonight, one 8 6 6 5 O Jimbo, one 8 6 6 5 O 5 four 6 two 6. And we'll see what happens in the Alaska. Also in Alaska, we have the special House election to put a member in Congress after the death of Don young. Who had been there since the Jurassic era, roughly close to 50 years, I think. And. I suppose the favorite based on the name recognition of the first round of voting is the Sarah Palin. We'll see now that this is down to four contenders, and most of them are fairly well known in Alaska. So name recognition may not carry that much of the day in any event. Interesting elections noted across the country as we continue to take note of the fact that we're getting closer and closer to November. By the way, a Saturday is the voter registration deadline in the Delaware. So be sure that you are registered to vote if you aren't already in Delaware. She was one of the few Republicans who openly criticized former president Trump, especially when it came to his unproven claims of election fraud, and in the end it cost congressman Liz Cheney, her job. Our work is far from over but the daughter of former vice president Dick Cheney has conceded the primary election in Wyoming tonight to Harriet hagman, who is endorsed by the former president. Is an attorney. She is someone who was once considered a never trumper. She once called Trump xenophobic and racist, but obviously she has changed her tune and she's earned the former president's support. She is backed by former president Trump. She espouses the same 2020 election lies as the president and could very well be an election denier heading to Capitol Hill. "Alaska and Wyoming are home to the next marquee primary contest this season where Republicans who have challenged former president Trump face the voters. For congresswoman Liz Cheney, the stakes could not be more clear for what this election contest represents. She is in the fight for her political life back home in Wyoming, and this is how she made the closing pitch to voters in her state. America can not remain free if we abandon the truth. The lie that the 2020 presidential election was stolen is insidious. No matter how long we must fight, this is a battle we will win. Ever since, Liz Cheney voted to impeach Donald Trump in the aftermath of January 6th, and as you know, she was one of ten House Republicans to do so. She made her mission for her political professional life to be about eradicating Donald Trump from the Republican Party. For this, she not only has drawn the former president's ire. She lost her job as chairman of the House Republican conference. She was booted out of leadership, and she found herself on an island largely inside the House of Representatives, which is exactly why Nancy Pelosi plucked her out of the Republican Party to be the vice chair of the January 6th committee in the House. That prominent role also made sure that she stayed in Donald Trump's crosshairs. There is no rhino in America was thrown in her lot with the radical left more than Liz Cheney. The people of Wyoming are going to tell her, Liz, you're fired, get out of here. That was former president Trump supporting his preferred candidate in today's primary, Harriet hagerman. She is the beneficiary of all the Trump maga crowd antipathy for Liz Cheney. Despite the fact that actually Harriet hagerman, just a few years ago, when Liz Cheney first ran for Congress in 2016 was a high profile supporter of hers. There is the Wyoming primary, which I'm going to talk about now, and then also the Alaska primary, which I'm going to be talking about later with Kelly shabaka. Now, Liz Cheney is not going to have a good day. I think it's fair to say she is going to not just be defeated, but kind of walloped trashed, humiliated. By let's remember someone who kind of came out of nowhere. I mean, who heard of Harriet hagman? When I had Harriet anchorman on the podcast, she seemed, well, she seemed very green, very new to politics. And kind of finding her way. And I have to say that Harriet hagerman has turned out to be a pretty formidable candidate. And by that, I mean she has zoomed in on certain key themes. I don't know if you've seen her or ad, what she talks about, you know, we're fed up, we're fed up with inflation, we're fed up with what happened in Afghanistan and it has the climactic statement and we're fed up with Liz Cheney and then she just like walks off the stage. And so one of the themes of Harriet hagerman has been that. To associate herself with the maga agenda and to make a blistering critique of Biden. And she's done that. The other is to emphasize that she hagerman is a real creature of Wyoming. And Liz Cheney is, well, I think at one point she even calls her the virginian because she has a home in Virginia. So the idea here is that Liz Cheney is part of the swamp. And so as I say, hagerman has run a good campaign, and I think this explains not just her lead. She probably would have a lead anyway, but the magnitude of her lead.

The big climate and healthcare bill passed by Congress will be signed into law today by President Biden. Republicans counter that the legislation does little to immediately take on voters biggest concern, inflation. And in the house, Democrats still face a lot of political headwinds, with the GOP still favored to retake the lower chamber this fall. On Capitol Hill, Mitchell Miller, WTO, news. The Justice Department does not want the FBI's rationale for the Mar-a-Lago search warrant made public. They say releasing that document could compromise its ongoing investigation. A court filing has federal prosecutors objecting to a request from news organizations, including CBS News for the FBI affidavit to be released. The Justice Department says that would irreparably harm its investigation, specifically by naming witnesses who have been interviewed by the FBI. The filing also confirms that the investigation quote implicates highly classified materials. The FBI says some of the papers removed from Mar-a-Lago last week had markings indicating they're so sensitive, they're only to be read and secure facilities, known as skiffs. "The Annie E Casey foundation. This is all things considered for NPR news. I'm Mary Louise Kelly. And I'm wanna summers. Alaska and Wyoming are two of the least populous states in the country, but occasionally they produce politicians with a big impact, like Sarah Palin from Alaska or Liz Cheney in Wyoming. They are both contesting Republican primary tomorrow in their respective states. And those races are attracting a lot of national attention because they test the power of endorsements from former president Trump. Joining us now to break it all down is NPR senior editor and correspondent Ron elving, hay Ron. Good to be with you, wanna. Good to have you. So these are two of the reddest states in the country. Wyoming gave Trump his biggest vote margin in the country in 2020, Alaska was not far behind. So why would there be any question at all about his influence in these two states? Well, in Wyoming, Cheney has been a household name for a long time. Liz Cheney is the daughter of Dick Cheney, who was a congressman and of course vice president for 8 years. She herself has been a landslide winner in the state three times, and in Congress, she's voted with Trump and the other Republicans more than 90% of the time. But after his supporters riot on January 6th, she did vote to impeach him, and she has continued to denounce him since and she is the advice chair, of course, of the committee investigating that attack on the capitol, and has in many ways been its most eloquent voice and Trump's most forceful accuser. Now she knows that's been hurting her with the folks back home, the state party literally disowned her. Trump has endorsed someone against her. In fact, he did it way last fall. She is state legislator Harriet hagman and the latest polls show she is way ahead of Cheney at this time. Yeah, cheating may be behind in the polls, but she has not backed off in her campaign this summer. Here is a little bit of the video that she put out last week. The lie

"Schedule your free in home estimate. We have been watching a lot of high profile congressional primaries taking place in tomorrow will be one of the highest profile. It's the Republican primary in Wyoming, where congresswoman Liz Cheney recently aired an ad doubling down under criticism of former president Trump. America can not remain free if we abandon the truth. The lie that the 2020 presidential election was stolen is insidious. And joining us live from Capitol Hill with a look at that race and others WTO peace Mitchell and Miller Mitch the latest poll suggests that congresswoman Liz Cheney is in big trouble. She faces opposition from a candidate supported by former president Trump. That's right, Liz Cheney was poised to be easily reelected in Wyoming, then of course January 6th happened. She was one of ten Republicans to vote to impeach the former president. In addition to Cheney, only three of those ten still have a chance of returning to Congress. And while polling in primaries can be inaccurate often, the latest polling in Wyoming indicates Cheney is badly trailing her GOP opponent, attorney Harriet hagman, possibly up to 30 points. Has a history in the state's Republican politics, but she recently went all in on Donald Trump's claims that the election was stolen, saying there's no doubt it was rigged. She actually opposed Trump in his bid for the 2016 presidential nomination, but like many other Republicans, she's come full circle. She's also sought to focus on issues involving Wyoming voters arguing that Cheney's criticism of Donald Trump on the January 6th committee has been a distraction. Mitchell, let's move to Alaska where Republican Lisa Murkowski has some hurdles to overcome and her reelection effort. That's right, Murkowski was one of only a handful of Senate Republicans to vote to impeach former president Trump. So of course, he's opposing her endorsing Republican Kelly Chewbacca, Chewbacca has touted her conservative views and tried to paint Murkowski basically as a part time Republican. What makes this race different is Alaska just changed its voting system. So the first four candidates in the primary no matter what party will go on to the general election. So this is really a preview. They'll do ranked choice elections in the fall, and that could get interesting since the winner has to get at least 50% of the vote, political observers, curious about how the lower ballot candidates might affect the votes for the two frontrunners. Well, also on the ballot in Alaska, candidate in the house race who's trying to make a political comeback. Sarah Palin. How about that? Also a very interesting race in Alaska while former governor Sarah Palin has a lot of name recognition and former president Trump's endorsement. She also has a lot of political baggage from her term as governor, which left her unpopular with many state residents, unlike the Senate race, this is a special election to fill the seat of the late congressman Don young. So the winner will finish that term and then another race will be held in November, Palin is battling against a Democrat, former state representative, Mary peltola, who says she's the woman who can win this race and has had an ad showing her cutting up Alaskan salmon. They're also running against Republican businessman Nick begich since this is also a ranked choice vote in the fall, the second and third place candidates could ultimately impact who wins if pelto managed to win, she would be the first Democrat elected to Congress from Alaska in 14 years. All right, thank you, Mitchell. Capitol Hill correspondent Mitchell Miller. Up ahead on WTO, the nationals call up their top prospects to play tonight against the cubs. We'll fill you in. It's four 14. Moments like watching my grandsons

Cheney and Murkowski: Trump critics facing divergent futures

"The GOP political fortunes of two Trump critics are on the line in tomorrow's primary elections They have a lot of similarities Liz Cheney and Lisa makowski from their state's most prominent Republican families both have hammered Trump backed his impeachment after the capitol riot and were censured by their state parties Tomorrow their fortunes are likely to diverge Cheney faces a tough outcome against Trump attacked Harriet hagman Murkowski though is expected to move on to the general election partly due to Alaska's new elections process which allows her to avoid a GOP only primary The Senate seats been in her family for 41 years Her dad held it before her Sagar Meghani Washington

"And looking forward, there are more primaries ahead, Mark, including in Wyoming. Everybody's watching that one representative Liz Cheney is expected to lose her seat, but I don't know that it is a foregone conclusion. Let's just do a what if? What if Cheney does lose? What comes next for her? There's some thought that she might use this as a springboard to run for president that she's committed if nothing else to seeing that Donald Trump does not get reelected president. Or even when the Republican nomination, so there's some thinking that even a loss in this Wyoming race could sort of make her a martyr for the cause that she's defending truth and pursuing a righteous path. The big question I think we have about that race is how many Democrats and independents across over to vote for Cheney. I mean, the polls suggest that she's going to lose and she's going to lose big in that Republicans overwhelmingly do not support her and support her opponent. Harriet hagman. But Wyoming is one of these states where it's a sort of open primary where anybody can go in and ask for the Republican ballot. And there are signs that a lot of Democrats and independents are interested in supporting like that she's taking on Donald Trump and could pull the Republican ballot. And that could sort of skew the outcome. And if there's enough of these folks who are crossing over, it could make the race a lot closer than we think or that the polls right now are suggesting. All right, Mark, I want to thank you for taking the time with us. We're going to be watching those results with you. Thanks so much. Thank you. Matt Vespa: The Republican Base Changed, Cheney Opted Not To

"Matt Vespa writes. The Republican base changed, Cheney opted not to, so August is where she'll end her career. Matt Vespa writes, does this at town hall? Does this family not comprehend that their time is over? And no Donald Trump isn't the greatest threat our republic ever faced is historical illiteracy and other affliction impacting the Cheney clan? If Liz ventured back to her state once in a while, she'd know that her voters can't stand her. Liz Liz Cheney isn't going to stop Trump from another run at 1600 Pennsylvania avenue because her little kangaroo court select committee can't find anything that warns a criminal indictment. Second, she's going to lose her primary. Wyoming conservatives had enough of her anti Trump shenanigans. We have a strong candidate in Harriet hagman. Liz's days are numbered, and this cringe worthy ad from Dick Cheney might have cost her votes.

"Seemed to be enough. It was, and then in California, a Republican congressman David valadao narrowly advanced in his primary out there. Trump didn't really intervene in that race. I think maybe because of Kevin McCarthy, who's a neighbors of district that valadao has may have prevailed upon the former president to stay out of that race. But is probably the only Republican who could win that district in November. Ten of their ten Republicans started to impeach Trump 6 of them were seeking reelection for them decided to retire. So we've had two of them had to go through the have had to go through the crucible of primaries and then you've got four left three as we mentioned on August the second and then the last one is the biggest one probably of them all on August 16th Liz Cheney and Wyoming. Yeah, that one is going to be particularly interesting. Is there any chance at this point that that Liz Cheney actually winds up pulling out a victory here? It's really hard to see just based on the polling. I mean, totally shows are well behind. And it seems like the anti chaining vote has coalesced around one candidate Harriet hagman, who's the choice of former president Trump. If there had been, say, four or 5 serious candidates who could split the anti Cheney vote and allow her to win with a plurality. I mean, that would certainly benefit her, but because most of the anti Cheney vote will be will accrue to Harriet Hagrid. That's not a good sign for Cheney. Yeah, it's going to definitely certainly be a difficult race for her. I know you were tweeting out today. Some of the folks who have donated to her and it's really eye popping to see how many of her colleagues have donated to her opponent. Harriet hagman, Greg, we've only got about 30 seconds left, so I'm gonna put you on the spot here with a really short answer. New York primaries are also coming up. What's the one race to watch? The member versus member matchup between Jerry nather and Carolyn maloney two 30 year incumbents are both share committees. They are forced into a into an incumbent versus incumbent face off the top. "Our policy and promise to you on this show? No squishes allowed. The Dan bongino show. So that was Harriet hagman, she was great. Jim, what did you think? Mike? What did you get Jim says she's a star, Mike, what'd you think? Yeah, she was great, right? I mean, very, very well put together, yeah, I was impressed you. I mean, you only get 15 minutes to make your case. I don't think I could have done it any better than that. And listen, I'm not a fan of Liz Cheney that's obvious, but you know, I feel like my role given the importance of this microphone and this radio station is not to lie to you either. If she was a weak candidate taking on someone we really need to get rid of it before the next term, we don't need two more years of Liz Cheney, electorally speaking, obviously, we don't need her, we don't need two more years of her. She's terrible. I would tell you it doesn't do me any good, but she was great. Harriet hagman, I think she's going to be fantastic. Let me get to this and I'm going to give you another update on the dreadful January 6th committee and Adam Schiff, folks. Jebby has evidence. Adam Smith has evidence again. Adam Adam Schiff, not out of Smith, he's not the famous economist. Adam Schiff has evidence. Again, hilarious. How many times are you going to get burnt by that? Hey, Charlie Brown, come kick the football. Adam Schiff. Nancy Pelosi must really love this guy. Imagine the humiliation of constantly putting Adam Schiff on these committees running on the show's good. We definitely have evidence now. Can you produce it? No, no, not yet. Next year. Maybe a nation. Tomorrow, like rocky from rocky three. Tomorrow. There is no tomorrow. Put up the evidence now, Adam, put it up. Hey, do you know what big tech and big government have in common? "A couple of stories I wanted to put on your radar screen here The first is in Texas they passed the laws called house built 39 79 And this law quote requires multiple perspectives when discussing widely debated and currently controversial issues So now they are requiring in Texas schools or at least in this one particular school This is the Carroll school district The executive director of curriculum and instruction said just try to remember the concepts of house built 39 79 when discussing the Holocaust Make sure if you have a book on the Holocaust that you have one that has an opposing that has other perspectives One teacher asked this school wide administrator how do you oppose the Holocaust Believe me the administrator said it has come up That has come up Why do conservatives want to teach an alternative to the Holocaust Obviously they wanted to deny what happens when governments flip hard right It happened in Chile with Pinochet he killed thousands of people And this was Milton Friedman's grand experiment for the Chicago school of economics and libertarianism and neoliberalism It happened in Germany with Hitler It happened in Italy with Mussolini it happened in Spain with Franco It's happening right now in the Philippines with Marcos It's starting to happen in India with Modi Obviously it happened in Russia with the Putin that's happened in Hungary with Orban It's we're moving in that direction Poland is moving in that direction very rapidly Countries all over the world are leaving behind democracy and flipping hard right and you know they'd really rather not point out that very often when that happens hard right governments kill their own people It's just like it's what comes along with it Especially when those people protest So number one why conservatives want to teach an alternative to the Holocaust Because they'd really rather you don't know what happens when governments turn hard right Number two how do you think Liz Cheney feels now about citizens united There's a major tech billionaire who made his money with Facebook and PayPal and whatnot who wants to be the patron of the Trump wing of the Republican Party according to max chafkin a Bloomberg reporter and author of the book that contrarian Peter Thiel and Silicon Valley's pursuit of power And he said that this is they're trying to find Trump ism after Trump And where does this well Liz Cheney again big big fan of right wingers on the Supreme Court Big fan of citizens united This particular billionaire donated the maximum to Harriet hagman the Trump backed primary challenger to representative Liz Cheney of Wyoming Hagman has continued by the way the woman that she's running against in the primary from Wyoming hagman has continued to claim that there are quote legitimate questions about what happened during the 2020 election and she also supported the Arizona so called election audit So what do you think now about citizens united Liz I'm wondering I was going to say I'm wondering what a Republicans across the border thinking about citizens united but obviously the answer is right in front of us The majority of them love it because it means that their pockets are filling up with gold There is literally no limit now as a consequence of a series of Supreme Court decisions that their peak in 2010 with a 5 four right wing all right wing all four so called liberals dissented And dissented loudly with 5 right wingers on the Supreme Court saying that when a corporation or when a billionaire just pours unlimited amounts of money into political campaigns that's not corruption That's not bribery or even attempted bribery that is merely free speech and therefore it is protected by the First Amendment of the constitution It's amazing It's absolutely amazing You know what is going on here With this whole thing is tragic.
