Why Tom Seaver Is The Greatest Met Ever
"People perhaps too young to have seen it and to have lived through it. How would you put into words what Tom Seaver meant to baseball and particularly in New York in the late sixties and the seventies? Well. He's the greatest met ever and there is not a close second. He's for me one of the ten greatest pitchers of all time when you look at his wins, his era and his strikeouts, the only pitcher in history that can match those numbers is Walter Johnson whose regularly considered the greatest. Of all time top seaver struck out ten batters in a row that is still a major league record and they were the last ten hitters of the game showing how strong he was at the end Greenie I was twelve years old when he pitched the mets to the world championship in nineteen, sixty nine it was absolutely breathtaking to watch a pitcher who threw that hard with that kind of precision and the way he threw that back news to drag against the ground. He was so big and he was so strong. He was Tom Terrific in every way he was he was like a superhero in my youth. I grew up in New York and I wasn't met Fan, but you couldn't not not only admire him but you're almost all of him. He became almost mythical figure you can. We talk about that a little bit not not just how great pitcher he was the numbers tell you that story but just what he meant in an even larger sense than that, how would you put that into words? Well he was so much a celebrity in New York because he was so smart he was. So worldly, he did the New York Times Crossword puzzle every day and apparently nobody did it better than he did and he never took himself too seriously Dick Schaap told this great story one night that Dick arranged a party out with a bunch of people, a bunch of writers and a bunch of celebrities. And among the celebrities were Muhammad, Ali and Tom Seaver and through the night went along alley. Brilliant Mad. But not a great baseball fan whispered to Tom seaver which newspaper do you work for Anti seaver like burst out in laughter that's how great he was at understanding his place and everything he said that what he retired, he wanted to become an artist, but he wasn't good enough to be an artist. But boy was he a great great baseball player who captured a town at the perfect

"In this game now down 5 to 4 after a Grand Slam, But you know, there you go. Don't worry. I know what losing is from growing up and everything else. I saw plenty of it. It's all plenty of it. Right. So the NFL has issued a warning to coaches Now, remember, we've been talking about this story about you know, they put this mandate about coaches wearing mask and everything on the sidelines, which I think personally is ridiculous, considering that everybody has to test all the time. And if the players don't have to wear those Oakley face coverings and things like that, and one of the coaches need to wear a mask and stuff. We know it is. It's the dog and pony show of it. That's fine, but the NFL said, Where are we going to find you? At end of the week? One week too? They start finding this any of them. I said okay. Pete Carroll came out said I'll pay the 100,000. Good, fine. I'm a paid every week if I have to. I got to be able to put my thing down and talk and I'm not worried. And I said, You're gonna have to get stiffer. Get harder with him. The NFL has issued another warning, Okay? And In a leaked memo said to AA teams. Says that this was the coach's general managers and team executives. The NFL will Address the lack of compliance with accountability measures that may include suspensions and or forfeiture of draft picks. Now, Jarvis remember a couple weeks ago, I said If you want to send a message to Pete Carroll about wearing a mask, suspend him. Tell me can't go coach. Thelma can coach Do it. Let's see how important it is to you. Let's see how important the mass protocols and things are. TIA. Make it to where it would hurt. Now the league is coming out, saying that they may do that. Because, as I said, coach have said, Hey, I'll take $100,000 fine. I gotta be able to coach. My guys have got to be able to do what I gotta do. I'll take it. Try. Vince and I guess in this memo says that both our own in independent medical advisers have emphasized the need to remain vigilant and discipline in following the process and protocols put place by agreement. With the NFLPA, as well as by state and local governments were only through week three of the season. If we play a full uninterrupted season must remain committed to our efforts and mitigate the risk of transmission the virus. Inconsistent and here, it's to health and safety protocols, which will put 2020 season at risk. Mohr Mohr on that getting through this season unscathed in just a minute out there so John Harbaugh was one of the guys. Um You know, was not wearing his mask. And being a part of this quote. I know we really tried our best. I compare with what we do here with the mass and all the protocols and anybody just now in the National Football League, But anywhere in the world we have been for all three games. Really good on the sideline. I don't think there's anybody better than me are staff from beginning of the game to the end of the game to thinking a three hour heated, competitive environment, especially when you're yelling that your mask is going to fall down for five or 10 seconds. I don't think anybody Could be held to that standard. So the NFL once you know if they really want this, and they really think it's important, fine, then get tough. Now. John Harbaugh. Um John Harbaugh in his comments, a cz Well, you know, said that he thought it was unrealistic to expect coaches that expect to think that coaches won't Be lowering their mask and and be doing these types of things. Remember, we said with Pete Carroll Pete Carroll said. Look, I'll take $100,000 fine. So that's why I said, You've got to come up with something different than money because they've already told you that money won't be enough. Simply money will not be enough to get them this way to this now speaking of uninterrupted season The game Sunday between the Steelers and the Tennessee Titans has been postponed to either Monday or Tuesday. Now I did not see a final word, but there was a lot of those we see in the rest of podcast world. There was a lot of rumor and innuendo going around that they were going to try to do it on Monday. I don't know if that has been since deleted or continued, or what have you but there hope was to try to do it on Monday. Um, they said earlier today the NFL did that. Most moment allows for additional time for further covert testing and ensure the health and safety of players in Game day personnel so four players, including starting nose tackle Daequan Jones linebacker. Um is it Comolli Korea, Long snapper boat Brinkley and practice Squad tight and Tommy Hudson in five team personnel. Tested positive now. According to head coach Mike Vrabel, who was told about all this and said that some of them were experiencing flu like systems, quote, symptoms, quote. Another is going to be a lot of questions about the game and who's to blame and where it started. Nobody's to blame. Or any pandemic. This very unfortunate situation, but one they're confident we'll be able to handle safely with the football team and the players. Best interests at mine, so they shut down obviously, all their football Practice and program and in everything like that. So my guess is by what's today? Wednesday, tomorrow Thursday. My guess is by Friday. They'll have a pretty good handle on if this game is going to happen on Monday or Tuesday. Not That's the thing is, you gotta You know, if you have one of these situations, you gotta come up with something now. If they play on Tuesday. How much of a disadvantage are those two teams come Sunday? Right? Monday night we expected and we know that play on Monday you're going to come back on Sunday, right? But what about Tuesday because member what they started doing with the Thursday game is that obviously you don't play until that whole following week, so You've got all that time off, would they do the same thing with Tuesday? I don't think they would. I think if you play on Tuesday, I think you're coming back Sunday. How much would that suck, huh? How much would that suck? You know, for the league that wants to preach about safety, But we're going to postpone it because of, you Know, Cove in but hey, whack yourself around on Tuesday, come back on Sunday and whack yourself around again. It does seem disingenuous because he can't start just chopping the game's off and things like that. It's just it would. It would start to get to be a scheduling logistic nightmare for all of that. So I don't I'm assuming if it did get pushed the Tuesday I'm assuming they've got a suit pack up on on Sunday. Unless you're telling me that they're going to go to Monday of that following week and then get back to Sunday to help him pick up that that day, But I don't know. And then you got the TV factor, right? That would be what it's titans and Steelers so that CBS right because they have the CBS know. Yeah, CBS has as the package, right? So does that mean if Let's say they play on Monday. Does that mean that CBS on their regular network broadcast Tennessee and the Steelers while ESPN puts on Monday night football? You think Monday night football? ESPN will be real happy about that. How does that work from a TV perspective? How did.

Oh, boy. Here we go. Why does Superman wear a Cape? Why does he wear a Cape? Why does he wear a Cape? Because no plane having a plain tiles. All right, Joe. Hi, j. Mo. You know, my Conspiracy theory, but a hardball coming back to Michigan was that he just wants the Detroit Lions head coaching job. Is there any scenario that you can put it out? Teo. University of Michigan schedule here that he that he could be the Detroit Lions head next year. Hey, thanks. Didn't you take that one? No, I don't think there is any scenario where Jim Harbaugh is going to be the head coach at Michigan. And look, it would be like, Ah, we all nobody really wanted. Somebody wanted it all. John beeline to go to the pros that you understood. Now, that was one of his goals that he did it above LA. You know, he went to Cleveland, but, you know, he interviewed the year before with the Pistons. If John Beilein when it wasn't a system that would have hated that, like, you know, business, we're going anywhere. And you know, as a Michigan fan him going to Detroit. I'm a Pistons fan. I didn't want to see that. You know, stealing from Peter to pay Paul. Whatever you want to dio. Look, I'm Alliance fan and a Michigan fan Michigan fans don't want to see is lying if you're just purely ally in the fan. You would be all right. But that would be, you know, cutting off half of your fan base. Happier fan base if Jim Harbaugh disappointing their year this year and decided Hey, I gave it a crack here. It all my contract renewed. I'm gonna just go back to the pros. You know, there is a possibility that could happen. No way would you want him to go as a cz Michigan pan to the Detroit Lions. Now if he went somewhere somewhere else, fine, but but not the lion. So There's a chance that Jim Harbaugh could one day even this year at the end of this year, go to the pros, but not to the lion bad business. Yeah, I don't see it happening. Ms. I don't see it happening. One bit. Ah! Even even a quasi a universe. You know where where the color green is actually purple. I don't I don't see Jim Harbaugh making the jump, you know, going to the Detroit Lions. If anything, I think he'd go to if a different you know, NFL job opened up where? You know? I don't know. I just think that the you know the I guess the history of it. Maybe he Maybe he'll look at that going the hell look at the lion's gig and just kind of go I don't know about that. Ah, like my guys, I haven't that I have on my team right now, Um I think we're hitting our stride here in Ann Arbor, and, um, you know, we're just going to take it one game at a time. Just like my good friend. Jake would say we just got to take a one play at a time. Drink the milk and eat mistake. I I just I don't I don't see Jim Harbaugh going to Detroit and any facet and any in any way possible. That's just That's at's, um, that's um, really deep conspiracy theories stuff there, Mikey. But yeah, it's ah, It's something that's something I guess, but I don't see it happening. Ah, no, I don't see it either. Mike. Um, thanks for the phone call. No man. Appreciate that. 7349 at 18 50. Let's go toe. Eric in South Carolina went up went up, Eric. It was going on demo. Oh, man. Hey, man, you know you don't mean there on my way to football practice. Yeah, I don't. I don't. I don't see Harbaugh born to the day that I think he could go to any. It happens codes before you go. The lion. Nobody has ever been successful as a lion. I don't see him try to be the first one to do it. What? Ah! I, You know, I was listening to dinner talk. And you know it is crazy because I grew up here and he trained this. Why? I think I would do with the way that Mr Paris Goto Off innocent will be pointing a bet with you because of the Detroit you grew up loving mission Harvest failed. I love the players and whatever. Trump, coaches push for college football as cracks emerge
"The debate over whether to play college football this fall continues many players and coaches are ready to hit the playing field like Mike Norvell head coach at Florida state they know that the protocols that are in place are safe they know that this is a place that that they can come to an end to continue to develop in all aspects and he's more worried about the players if this season is canceled I worry if that's taken away from them you know not only what is that going to gonna do to them you know mentally and having to experience more challenges more set backs Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh agree saying the Wolverines have shown that players can be safe even at school actually after

"He's probably not to be honest with you. And so when you're 5 11 playing quarterback, and you're the number one overall pick playing quarterback in the NFL. There's a lot of expectation most some people prized and yeah, that's that's a failure. That's not happening, especially with With the codes and Cliff Kingsbury, who you know, wasn't you know, great winner in college. Of course, there was. You know, there was a wall that you need to put up in order to protect yourself from, you know any negativity that might come your way. He's defied it to be, for the most part he has in the first two years of his of his career. Yet you want to see how he bounces back as you said, and and any of the uncertainty was amplified because Number one year they've had him sporadically. Goodyears intermittent success The Arizona Cardinals, but it's not a franchise that you blindly believe in their direction. So when they draft Josh Rosen 10th of role, and then the next year, they draft Colin Murray over first overall, like what's going on here? It's it's you know, it's a mixed bag of messaging and whatever, and we always ultimately got the right the right call because Murray's just Is better than Josh Rosen. The one thing that's a little different in Marie's situation like even Lamar Jackson burst on the scene. John Harbaugh Championship winning coach, well known credibly respected Whomever eventually takes over for big Ben. You know if if Tom was still there if he wants to stay there, and I think he does, But, you know if Tomlin said he should be, But if Tomlin still there, Talman could shield him What a super Bowl. Lot of respect a lot of cash, eh? If Cam's got in a year or two, and they break in a rookie and with the Pats and Belichick is still there. Same thing, Deflect The thing that Murray doesn't even Josh Alan and I'm not saying the McDermott has that profile. But McDermott was was in a playoff game with Tyrod Taylor. So there's a little bit of Ah belief. He's he's from a very good coaching tree. Kliff Kingsbury doesn't provide a lot of shield. No. Four column Murray. That could be a little bit of an issue. Yeah, You're right there. Isn't that That you know the back of that sage voice? Yeah, like, will be fine. It's not even you know, it's not even that It is well, that also, But I'm thinking like the track record like to say, Well, he is going to be okay because we have faith in this guy. On DH right now, Cliff Kingsbury is not a winning coach on any level, you know, and it's not his fault, but that's the reality of it. And you know you hope that this is his Cardinals team doesn't stagnate. Because then it were afraid, reflect poorly on Cliff Kingsbury, who I actually think is doing a good job They were. They just weren't talented last season and I had a couple of really good players chain. Will Jones was one column Murray obviously was another first. Newkirk Christian Kirk, but I mean, it wasn't a ton of God had offensive line that was just jelling. Maybe individually good but collectively. They weren't They weren't good. Just want they want a talented squad. But a t end of the day you are is Bill Parcells, you know, famously said you are what your record says. You are And in right now, Cliff Kingsbury does not have a winning record is a coach on college or the National Football League, and so that belief that it's goingto happen. You can't just blindly accepted. Now They're partially there because of Cuyler because he's a winner. You can You can see it in his game. You see it in his personality, But you still got to go do it. And so negative day after negative day, he need to take it personally, And by all accounts he is he is taking it personally, is not. He's not diminishing it. Or, you know, sloughing it off like it like it was nothing. He's taking it personally. Nor is he making, Nor is he making it more than it needs to be. That's right, taking stride it so I had a bad day. Yeah, it is what it is. I'll be. I'll be better next week. Corrects ownership at something Eli was great at Yes, something Eli was great at totally different skills that totally different player. Several personalities. Actually, Eli and collar in terms of What the internalized But you know, one of the things that Eli was great at somebody you always owned up to. It always manned up to it and usually was able to follow up. You know, a bad team performance or bed, individual performance, certainly with verbal accountability and then generally some pretty stellar play. Let me ask you this year. Take your GM and I was all right. He'd have Josh Allen for the next five years of calamari. For the next five years. We've taken a TTE this point. I'm probably saying Josh Allen because of the where he's going, and I wouldn't have said that three years ago, even two years ago, maybe last year, I would have contemplated. I will probably send Kyla Murray late, So Josh Allen has exponentially grown and again. We talked about this. This this Buffalo bill staff and coach Dave all the offensive coordinator. How they let him be comfortable and becoming a winner. His way just just went just find ways to win. Whatever it is, If you're not comfortable making that, you know that slant that deep slam or whatever it may be, or that come back. You're not comfortable doing that, and you can escape and, you know, go pick up 15 yards and doing their legs. Just just get it done. And when you bring confidence through success, it builds a stable platform to go to grow. And now we're seeing the benefits of that with Josh Alan. And Is this his now his fourth year where it's so good? Just looks. He looks amazing, man. No third year I'm jealous. Those 30 or staying with Baker's In his third year, he looks amazing. 400 yards. He looks like a pocket passer and you'd put you know in the back of your mind. Crap, man. If he scrambles, we're cooked. So it's just like I'd love the evolution of him. I didn't believe in him. Be honest with you at all. I was not a buyer. And then here we are three years later to your 2.5 years later. He's the real deal. So I'd say, Josh our if you got him on the discount rack, you're lucky. If you try.
Big Ten and Pac-12 Postpone College Football Season
"The big ten in the pack twelve are thinking they may scuttle their football seasons. Now, this was leaked yesterday by Dan Patrick. and. It is. Dan Patrick. On his morning radio show said that the big ten and the PAC twelve working together they were going to cancel their football seasons. The vote was twelve to two Nebraska and I think Michigan. Where the two that wanted to continue plane? No one else wanted to continue plane Jim Harbaugh of Michigan is really upset about it and they're pushing very hard to change this. Pete Ricketts. The governor of Nebraska, is openly calling for them to reject the idea been SAS. The senator from Nebraska is also calling on them to walk this back to not do this. The SEC met yesterday in an unplanned meeting, the SEC Commissioner in in President Se schools met yesterday, and they've decided to take a go-slow wait and see how it plays out approach harbaugh. For his his credit in Michigan has pointed out that the players on the football teams are actually more a safer than the other kids on campus the protocols they put in

"You belong in the conversation with the super. Bowl champ your quarterback is calling them his Kryptonite. When you see when Superman sees Kryptonite, he goes around he didn't pick it up and rub it all over his chest. This was to kick a field goal I. Don't know if he thought he was GONNA win the game ten to seven or if he got who forgot who he was playing against but huge slating moment for the Baltimore Ravens the guy on the other side line. When he gets in there, he's calling flips to the fullback or a past the offensive lineman you're calling field goal that game is lost as soon as that decision was made I liked that thought and I think it actually illustrates the bigger point here and this. Is something that we touched on earlier Marcus and let's get more into it here that the ravens are sort of built to beat you a certain way they are built to kick field goals from the yard line because they are built to beat you something like seventeen built to get in front of you and then run the ball right down your throat and against a team like the Kansas City chiefs that just isn't going to work. So Marcus, what is the answer there? If you're going back to the drawing board today and your Lamar Jackson John Harbaugh, you gotta figure out a way to make sure you can spread this field and change your strikes a little bit when you playing against teams that are going to threaten you with the scoreboard and that's exactly what they're doing and look I. don't agree with rise.

Paul Finebaum reacts to Michigan president's comments
"Was some very important news yesterday. Out of the University of Michigan where the President Dr Mark Schuessel? Who has an immunologist by training? Not The most common thing you see for a president a State University made a lot of news by tapping down some of the positivie about college football talking about how there would be no college football unless students were on campus. He referred to his training as a medical doctor. Phd In relation to doubting seriously that there could be college football fans in the stadiums and they also broke down the importance of college football but in the context of the University of Michigan overall. Dowse a little water on that as well saying that the university stand on its own. This comes in some contrast to what Jim told us last week on on get up when he said he would be okay with football. As long as he didn't he said he would. He would prefer fans but it would be okay without fans who better to talk to you than Giannis. Bacon was written callous books on the University of Michigan and certainly among the very leading experts in the world the on that subject John. Thank you Happy Memorial Day and first of all great to have you on with us and we hope you've been safe and well over these last couple of months Always a pleasure Paul and so far so good. The only we need is forty hours of daycare for weeks. My four and a half year old kid if you've got a babysitter send them up For All you've done for us I'll I'll give you some good recommendations Thank you. Let's talk about the this. I thought was a really fascinating comment first of all. Let's talk about President Schnitzel in terms of who is he what his credentials are then. They're incredible but have someone like that. Move into the presidency at school at the University of Michigan. Well his background is Brown University And California cal Berkeley so the pedigree and all that he's got a PhD in some former science probably immunology say as well as an MD. So you couldn't call them stupid He's probably also not the biggest football fan in the world. I think he probably loves the Brown model. Where you play. But it's not Nearly the importance as it is in the big ten or the SEC and so on But also knows where he is that Hundred Thousand People Disagree and they love it quite a bit so he is definitely on a high wire there But clearly his roles immunologist took over in his latest. Talk as you said if you days ago and I guess yesterday sorry And Yeah you say is very clear about this that if all the students aren't on campus. We're not going to have intercollegiate sports of any sort at least at Michigan which is not to say the big ten goes along with that or the rest of college athletics. But it's pretty hard back back down from that once you've said that and as you pointed out Paul that goes counter to what Jim Harbaugh said a few days earlier that he'll take football and almost any form Fans in the stands or not. Some graduated schedule some sort of Not Black or white but Modified approach would be fine with Jim. Which I'm sure is almost all major college football coach so I see a conflict there and I'm pretty sure I know who's going to win it. Yeah I mean there may be some school football coaches that have the clout to go head to head with the president. I doubt Jim Harbaugh wants to do that. Unless it's twenty minutes after beating. Ohio state I I I WANNA ask you. I WanNa ask you about about his comments about the budget. You know the school inside and now obviously I mean. I don't want to translate for him but he seemed to be saying that you know we we would this football but we're going on with or without it. Yeah and Miskin can right now Now the catch that is not all the big ten can goes out football Sunday. The MAC you can't. I mean look at Eastern Michigan Kent State places like that Miami of Ohio so the separation between haves and have-nots stronger not weaker. Now its biggest. Cost Ball is of course nationwide and gets all the attention at Michigan. The budget for the entire Athletic Department is around one hundred and eighty five million dollars which is almost doubled in ten years which says something right there and yet the budget for the whole university assist seven billion with a B. dollars so and half of that as a medical school on the health system so the football budget is big. It might beat us That's what they spend on rubber gloves at the hospital. So it's not that big a deal to the president. John you have a pretty good pulse on the The Michigan Fan base. I asked gently what has been the reaction about what the president said yesterday. Some folks feel yeah. Maybe there's mixed generous maybe it is It is going to be hard to argue though without students on campus having football. You're talking about exploiting the students who are in your student athletes who are not paid etc. I was become a hot button. Issue the last few years as it always should be I think That becomes greater when you're perhaps risking their health When you're not risking the other students health To play football. So that's one point of view. The flip side of course is that stadium is both the hold one hundred ten thousand people and if not for nothing of course so obviously people wanNA play football In any way she performed they possibly can Go Back Paul and nineteen eighteen when Michigan played the first game during the pandemic early October. And it flared up nationwide thereafter so they did not play again until November The team went five that your politics and on the big ten which counts as big ten champs and yes five Cowan as national champs. If only if only we're talking to John Bacon The New York Times bestselling author. He's written countless books on the University of Michigan. I WanNa take a break here because there are many issues beyond what the Michigan President feels. Although his comments probably going to be heard pretty loudly and other ivory towers around the country. I WanNa talk to John when we come back about what college football faces in trying to open up more comments from the esteemed author John U

Proposed federal law seeks to limit skyrocketing salaries of college coaches
"Well anyway. I I call one of your stories. He's just week. We're talking about salaries and congress trying to put a cap on things and you. Did I think a an amazing. I don't know how you doug all this up. A deep dive live into the evolution of coaching salaries. Take us through that process. Yeah I one of the one of the most interesting thing about college. Football is how in twenty twenty I guess in our in our myopic nature point twenty we think that we all have these like little arguments novel discussion Russia. We've been doing this thing for one hundred fifty years at this point in time there are quite a bit of things that just are not new and some of that is complaining about too many bowl games but another one of those things is talking about how coaching salaries are way too high. I mean it's it's it has quite literally almost almost always been like this. I mean Amos Alonzo Stagg at Chicago making six thousand dollars in eighteen eighteen ninety two now I went back and use the consumer price report and price some of these salaries out in you know twenty eighteen at the time buying power. And you know. That's six thousand dollars. Amazon does stag was making then was worth like a hundred and sixty thousand dollars back in eighteen. Ninety two there has always been this separation between what highly paid college. Football coaches made Versus what the Common Man Colombian mix. You know I'll I'll bring it to your audience and hit them home like bear Bryant when he's doing. Brian show that that famous Sunday highlight show That that became formative so formative for a lot of Alabama fans. He wasn't doing that just out of the good report he was because he was getting paid there Bryan getting in pay. That's why I thought he. I thought you said he was a benevolent. So I believe you remember this because you weren't born but he also had to Eat the potato chips and drink cocoa which by the way had bourbon in it. Yes absolutely I mean like bear. Bryant was Bear Bryant was cheering the back right now. Yeah so I find it amazing we we. We had a professor on earlier who who was very much a part of the Donna? Shalala Team Wanting to limit coaching Ching salaries so When did they make the big turn? When did they start going? I mean as as some of the critics say out of control to me. It really doesn't matter what any of these guys make but TAKE A. When was the big turn? I think they really and truly exploded in the nineteen eighties because in the nineteen eighties. That's when that Supreme Court hate happened with like Georgia Oklahoma and you know they got. TV rights You know they divorced the TV rights from the NCAA and schools colleges then became able to go. She ate television rights As entertaining defended themselves. Obviously than we get into the CFO era and BCS. And what we have now where the SEC. Disperse what was it. Six hundred and fifty some odd the million dollars yesterday give or take a few million yeah To all fourteen member schools. I mean look. The bedrock of this cannot be overstated. The bedrock bedrock of this is this when you as an Athletic Department at Florida Alabama at Lsu is Florida state when you do not have to pay your labor force when you do not have to compensate you or athletes. That money has to go somewhere now. That money goes to beyond coaching salaries. I mean that's the facilities race that is everything. Everything that makes these college will programs at opulent as they can be obviously a really really big part of the PIE now. Is Coaching salaries. Now Coaching coaching salaries the early eighties. That's stuff starts to get reported. That's my really really starts coming into Coming into the sport in a way that it had really really before that By the time you get through the mid nineties Florida's paying Steve Spurrier the one of the first billion dollar contracts so that he doesn't jump to the NFL at that time honestly the NFL itself explodes. You've got that competition. So it's it's the competition that that spurs in any industry the street Salaries and money and will lose those things but the early eighties. I think is where we can really pinpoint when college athletics kind of started growing up from a from a fiscal standpoint talking to Richard Johnson from a better society in now we all know what is going on. I'm interested where were you. Were you sit on this. Because the the so called Donna. Shalala proposal We heard Professor Ridpath on this would would curtail a lot of things I find find. It somewhat amusing chancellors and presidents at Private Schools More so than public schools making. I'm five six million dollars a year We have an offensive and defensive coordinator is making major seven figure salaries I know is a highly paid journalists. Where we're we're are you on what Shola is is attempting to to do at least down one lane in Congress right. I think you have a good point. the the facilities boom and the salary boom of coaches collect directors and the things that we coach Sports Mirror. That of what we see on the institutional side at a lot of these verses and I think that is one thing thing that really gets lost you know like you said like g Foreign President of like West Virginia. Like these guys make guys and girls make six figures seven figures. There is a lot of money in higher education in the United States at the highest levels. college athletics is it is not an outlander But like studies have shown time and time again going back thirty forty fifty years that when your football all team is good when your basketball team is good It becomes you know they always say that is the front porch of the university. Admissions skyrocket when athletics. Do well and that is. Why a lot of these University of course than anything else I think? Put Up with and we'll pay out the nose for Nick Sabin or Jim Harbaugh or a Davos. We or whatever I think the dirty secret is is the weight from Ro a lot of these endowments in some of these very popular. Schools would shrink a lot more than people wanNA realize. No I mean just look around. I mean boone pickens. She died recently. I mean the the amount of money that he put into Oklahoma state and I don't I don't mean to disparage Oklahoma state in stillwater Oklahoma. Oh my been there. And if you haven't Richard Make sure that you put that on your bucket list. Wouldn't it wouldn't have had that type of money And and a lot of these Jerry Jones. He's given to the University of Arkansas. You can go down the list And I mean and it's because of one thing we're trying to win in in in college football or basketball depending on on on where you live and what part of the country you're in. Yeah absolutely I saw a stew. MANDL's works in the for pretty athletic. He He has a college pat column and somebody asked him Ten million dollars. What would you do with it to build a staff? And I look the question and I was like look man if you WANNA compete with Alabama Lsu Clemson Oklahoma Ohio state. You need more your salary. You Pool has to be bigger than ten million dollars. I mean on on its face. You'RE GONNA have to pay a coach at that level. Five five and a half six six billion dollars. You'RE GONNA have to pay your coordinators eight hundred nine hundred thousand dollars because Dave Aranda was was pulling such a salaried Lsu a few atmosphere necessarily because he was such town defensive coordinator which he is but it was because one opinions coordinator so that the only job job they'll leave for is a G. Five or or power five kids coaching job. It's got bulletproof coordinators. I WANNA lose them. I don't want to take collateral. If they leave me they gotta take step up so okay. You're paying both your coordinators Like one point eight billion dollars between the two. That's like eight million dollars. Just gone to the head coach in coordinators. Now you're in another like five million dollars higher director staff your eight assistant coaches which is all right. That's your ten assistant coaches You want to compete with Georgia Alabama. All right we'll have a party because you have to fill out the rest of those staffs with analysts. We assist tense You know you gotTa have a staff of three saw guys kind of the shadow. Coaching staff that that Alabama kind of those famous or infamous. No matter how how are depending on which by the fence you went on but You know it takes money to keep up with the Joneses and it takes a lot of line really want we national championship. Always great to have you on Richard other than chicken. What's the what's the second most favorite food that you'll be serving the super bowl party Sunday lady a friend is bringing some guacamole? She'll be homemade guacamole. I'm not a big block fan but you know you know how this you gotta try say like it. So that'll that'll it'll be my My side dish. I cannot wait I if I'm in the neighborhood I'll just drop Bil- bring some bring bring a some some fruit cake leftover from Christmas. I couldn't give away Gringa fruitcake. Brings some cold ones man. I'll have seat for you right on the couch next to meatball. Thank you great. Great to talk to you again come back soon. Have you
Browns Make It Official
"We will start with the official news out of Cleveland Scavenge to ban skis hired by the browns. They announce officially on Monday. He's thirty seven. Spent fourteen seasons as an assistant in Minnesota but has never been a head coach at any level level his entire. NFL coaching career. As I mentioned has been with one organization the Minnesota Vikings Stansky took over play calling duties on offense late in the two thousand eighteen season. Minnesota ran the ball. Forty seven percent of the time with Danske asked the play caller. That's the second highest rate in that span trailing only the Baltimore Ravens was introduced at a press conference just a little while ago. I the foremost success starts with people and I know we'll talk a lot about culture but it is absolutely about the people and everybody knows the Harry Truman quote. It's amazing what you can accomplish when no one cares who gets. That's the credit and that's what I believe. We have in our building. We have great people. I know we're going to add to it will hire G. G. M. here in the next week can or two and we're going to add to this culture that that we're building here and we have the right people and again. I can't stress enough. How excited I am the be? Just a part of did you know to use a basketball terms to my dad can understand this. I want to be the point guard for this organization. I want to bring the ball up then I wanNA share the basketball and let so what else get an easy bucket though smiling over there. WE'RE NOT GONNA I'M NOT GONNA speak anything into existence right now I can. I promise you that we're GONNA work. I've already spoken to a few of our players already. And that's what I'm about I'm about working and I'm about putting a foundation together the other. We will be methodical about it. We will not skip. Step two two and three to get to four. We're GONNA start in the foundation and then we're going to reinforce foundation Shen said we can build upon it and when I'm talking about this I'm talking about schemes and technique will be diligent about working with our players so that they can develop into the the best versions of themselves and ultimately we're building a foundation for what we hope is a championship. Effort will have a culture of accountability. We'll have structures is in place the players will understand our rules. And what we're about and we're going to demanding and we're going to hold each player accountable. Because ultimately I know this about players they they May Not come out and ask you for that. But that's what they want. Well perhaps the tenth. TIME IS THE CHARM IN CLEVELAND. Stansky is the tenth full time head coach Wjr. The browns have hired since returning to the League in one thousand nine hundred ninety nine that is the most in the league over that span of the previous nine. None have posted a winning record. Heard and not a single one has lasted more than four seasons continuity and consistency has been a real issue in Cleveland. Victor certainly something they'd like to you see changes to fanciest step in the right direction. In your opinion will I believe he is and I think that consistency where it is important. And right because you put up that list of all the coaches and the coaches that they've they've pretty much funneled through throughout the years can you provide that level of stability that they've been seeking for almost a year in and year out. Can you provide that for their now. The thing I do like about Stansky a fan ski is that he has experience with creating plays for two star receivers and I think that's something that's going to have to translate over to the Cleveland. Browns obviously with Odell Beckham junior junior and Jarvis Landry and having that experience I'm sure enticed of that for an office inside bring him in and understanding that they got to get the best out of these players in the best out of all their play makers obviously nick included In the backfield now is he going to be a leader of men and he is he going to be able to handle. The Eagles and the different personalities is that are in that locker room. Desk the biggest question that still remains to be seen. It's defense gas interviewed with the browns. Before in fact it's believed that he was the first source of politics but Desta several seasons ago and and it didn't work out. Matt you spent time with him as part of that Minnesota Vikings Organization. What can you tell us right? He he was a young quarterback coach at the time. And so when I got there was actually a little bit older than he was which is an interesting dynamic but at the same time. He's been all around that building. You know he's an administrative assistant and when he started there then. He was a quarterback coach. He's I've been with the running backs he's been with the wide receivers so he's been in all the different elements of the offensive side of the ball. He's seen the ups and downs. He's seen how free agency can impact so he's got a great feel feel. He's a great leader. He's got a presence about himself in the other thing that I think that the Cleveland browns are probably drawn to is the simple fact that this is a very quarterback friendly offensive structure that he's presented presented in for a guy like Baker Mayfield that had had his struggles last year. And maybe some confidence issues. Maybe not though. Let's see the press conference the same time. It's a quarterback friendly. There's a lot of play action. There's a lot of movement of the pockets. A Lotta easy throws to be made screen. And then there's like you said that balance forty seven percent percent of the time the run the ball. There's great balance in that offensive structure in for a young quarterback and going into his third year after some struggles. I think this is a great fit for that organization Asian and going back to when they actually made this higher People in Cleveland were telling me that it was actually his run game because we see what he was able to do with Dowling Cook and how he was able to make become a good player to really a great one and he's a central part of that offense that we now see in Minnesota and that was a big part of it but in terms of now Cleveland going forward looking for GM the way it was explained to me is they really want these to head coach and gm to work as one. This is why they moved on. From John Dorsey Percy and Freddie Kitchens. They didn't feel like this was working together. So they're looking for someone who has the same vision and the analytics department obviously is of of crucial part of Cleveland. And what they're looking for a head coach and I think that's why Stefanski became that lead candidate because he's accepting of it. He wants to be part of that and You know I think I saw some reports out there about how Cleveland is demanding that their head coach presents the game plan to ownership and really the way it was explained to me. It's not so much that they want to see the game plan. They just want everyone to be in sync to go over to make sure they're all on the same page headed into the game. Well you can't blame him and and that is something that clearly was not the case. I think you make a great point. It's poor in that somebody come in and be able to work and mold Baker Mayfield but also be able to be the CEO and run this whole organization and have everybody else be accountable. I think Freddie Kitchens might have had one of those two things that went by the wayside outside the quarterback with the hiring in Cleveland. What it does mean? Is that every chair on the head. Coaching carousel is now accounted for. The browns were the fifth and final team to hire a new head coach in the off season. Three of the hires tires Stefanski as we just discussed Joe Judge with the giants and Matt Raw and Carolina our first time. NFL head coaches the other two quite the contrary contrary Mike McCarthy in Dallas Ron Rivera in Washington they will get a second chance or in some cases third or fourth various established. NFL head coaches of of all the five. Who Intrigues you? The most in their new spot intrigues me is Matt Rule. I WanNa see what really transpires here right. He seven years sixty million dollar contract. That's a big commitment big commitment. I mean we might need to think about going into coach. That's it has everything else that they're also saying that they're making a commitment to Cam Newton with the type of style and the offensive structured. That they've set up McCaffrey's there I mean they've got the pieces of the puzzle there now. It's interesting to see how that that offensive structure from college translates to the NFL. which is I mean? There's been guys like chip Kelly in the past right John Harbaugh's price guy. That's been the most successful but that was more of a pro style offense with the most the most recent Kingsbury in Arizona so cliff Kingsbury. Excuse me it's been a mixed bag. There's no question. Let me ask you this just circling back to something you said by hiring Matt rule it you believe this means a commitment to Cam Newton. Can you explain why why I just think that The Baylor and watching their offense of structure and the RPO that takes place that's run pass options and all the different things that they're well versed in and that the Baylor offense has been historically historically very successful with in terms of that offense of structure I just think that that Fits Cam Newton's game very well and so I believe that that's a statement saying look. We wanted to bring somebody in here that you're going to be comfortable in this type of offense of structure and go out and be able to put yourself in a position to have success extent to intrigue you for me. Is Joe Judge my beloved giants. I think well I just think because going into it. Once I saw the Vacancy Happen at the head coaching position I was all right. The giants are GonNa come in here and get either like a Ron Rivera type or even McCarthy and get a guy that will come in and commanding presence. Once he walks into the building and I think with the hiring of Joe Judge just left me like okay I. It felt like the same cycle almost felt like coach mcadoo a couple years ago when you give a guy a shot and bring him in if he can transcend The coaching position or the year. After that when you bring in Pat Shurmur and you try to bring take a chance on another guy. Felt like we're taking another chance on another guy but granted. I must say I loved after the press conference I loved his mannerisms I love. He literally embodied what the New York Giants Football Organization is all about when he stepped up there on that podium Liam so I say that with a grain of salt because I love the press conference and I think he's going to bring something different than the other two coaches did in the past. But I still left me scratching my head in terms of who was out there here in the type of guys that could've came in that building and commanded a present these guys by the way Matt Rule and Gioja Geno. It's not about winning the press coverage but they did rule who was must see TV. I was just watching. He's missing time with the giants. Who so I knew all about? He's got does I think you know obviously recruiting such a big part of being a head coach in college. You don't mean to recruit You know when you're in the NFL. Which is why? I'm an agreement with you. I think that is the most enticing match COPA or at least the situation of the coaches just because you just look at history and making that jump from college the NFL. It's not easy and there just hasn't been a high success rate there. I think obviously he spent a little time with a giant. So it's not like he's
Ravens run all over Steelers with backups to win 28-10
"We have reached the end of the regular season a twenty nineteen it's on to a new season and a new decade after a bye week for the ravens they now turn their attention to the post season as the top seed the north is not enough for this franchise they have their eyes set on playing in the Super Bowl in Miami in February and ten ninety W. B. A. L. the ravens carry a twelve game winning streak into the AFC divisional round after twenty eight ten dropping of the Steelers Baltimore's first touchdown followed by a fumble by Steelers rookie quarterback Delbert Hodges and that was it twenty eight ten ease your own final so Pittsburgh out and that really happen with the Titans win anyway the ravens are the top seed they get the buy in their head coach John Harbaugh focused on playoff mode the best team in football in the regular season this year no doubt about that but that doesn't count for anything in the next season and the next season we've got to go obviously go to work this week and become a better football team and get ready for whoever opponent isn't a divisional game here so that's what we'll do next but just taking a minute to look back tonight could be more proud of these players twenty more Prodi's coaches were Jordan pleasures we were too into state was made in the locker room that we'll find out what
"harbaugh" Discussed on Attack Each Day: The Harbaughs' Podcast
"Coaches Jimmy Jack Harvard director Pretty Matt Dudek is here producer Mckinsey's here as well we'll talk to Michigan football as we are now seven games into the Michigan football season this week's guest will be the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens ahead of the Ravens Flock John Harbor Renting's with Jack Talk here and attack each day the buzz podcast a reminder subscribe on Apple podcast you can listen by the podcast one APP podcast one dot com and please follow us contact us on twitter at Ad Podcast or using Hashtag Jack Dogs coach welcome back to the podcast our things now that the next game dependent game is the thing that you build upon most recently how are things here in the building well so much has happened since since our last podcast week ago I mean there was there was the gain there was a lot to that game thought team played You know in one of those Great College Football Games play a lot of character a lot of effort and heroic at times you know and really putting our team in a position to to win the football game so many so many performances like that shape Patterson Ronnie Bell Canada grown quick pay you know again I'm GonNa leave some guys out the nick eubanks Vince Gray thought played really well and so two ambery and the offense allied as a whole there was adversity we got down and then had some calls that we had made some big plays that got called back at another drive stopped and call felt was not the right call interference call so those those those things that are happening in but I think our team is learning that I mean it's to keep persevere keep overcoming now the only fair is the county fair that a long time ago so yet you keep you keep on to keep fighting and I and I see that has come together and continuing to come together for football team and you know really makes you I feel good about that the next day things didn't end in the victory and he'd go through some human motions of whether it's you're sad or you're angry about something wasn't fair you you go through you know the gamut of those things and and then when you've sufficiently done that and then you say it's respond you know get moving working get back up and added and and our team has done that in doing that and started this morning with a with a practice and coaches game plan and players being in going over the details from the from the game and and look on where to to our next opponent and Notre Dame and understanding that that what the every Saturday brings Is that opportunity that new opportunity and seizing it the way you would you would want our guys to do I mean lessons that go far beyond the game of football as a coach again over the years you look back the there there are times that you've won James Big and you didn't quite get the feel that your team had played the very best they could or as hard as they could or and you were and appointed and there's other games were like this game where it came down to the very end teams down by what twenty one points at twenty one to seven at halftime yeah I mean an atmosphere that's unknown to mankind unless you've been there I mean it is unbelievable and it goes from an hour before the game but until the end of the game and these kids fought so very hard and that's got to be for the leadership of the team I'm talking about the coaches and the players this tweak opportunity to build on that and I got an I just feel I just got a feeling that they're going to build on that and this will propel us into those last what five six games of the season and and it's GonNa put us where we want to be and and this week is so so very important but I know when I turned I was so disappointed when I when I turn the TV off and then I started thinking and reflecting about character this team in the in the performance in fight that this team had and how they came together as a team and that sideline at the end of the game and it's one of those times we did not win the name there's no question about that but there's something about this team that I really really like football at the end of the game it seems like it can come down to one play but obviously all the players fort lead to that point but when a play doesn't go your way towards the end players feel it you know it's especially if the balls right there whatever so how's Romney doing because he had a heck of a game and saw his emotions spilled out on the field and for young man like that played as well he has for you guys quit pretty quick bounce back but that's a tough moment for that young man Rodney Bell we'd take as many Ronnie Bells as you could possibly have on the football team and You know fortunately we have we have some others like Rodney but you know these he's in that that upper one percent of our best players and and some guys drop a ball and the don't have any reaction to it football means a lot to Ronnie Bell and and like I said I would I would take as many Ronnie Bells as we could possibly get and the other thing about that I I'm sure you're you're you're still coaching when happened the reaction of his teammates he's standing there and you get to see the disappointment is face player after player after player after player walks up put their arms around him and whispered in his ear and and the he was he was straight ahead looking and but that support from his teammates had mean so much much and for them to feel that way about him and respect him that much that was that was heart warming for me in writing bills is really tough-minded guy and it's as tough a football player as I've ever been around and as I said I mean after after gave me go through those motions those are that's life you know and and equally as important and what you learn and playing the game of football all is how to respond and have no doubts Ronnie is responding is you know he's he's up on it in full support of uh everybody on the team but we're not even we're not even at that point if it's not Apparati Bell we're winding down go over a point the the the scary thing for me in football it's not just in college football it's in professional football it's this pass interference thing how they're calling it and what they're seeing some things that are so clear for watching it on television I mean the announcers I'm not just talking about our game please let me I'm talking about all of football how how could you we not see that you got seven guys out there looking how do you not see it but I understand the cameras are up here and you're looking at it from all these different angles and these and these I can't see it but it's scary how that pass interference is affecting games at both the college level and a professional and there's gotta be I'm kind of way to address that I'm not sure what it is I know I'm talking too much but John at the professional meetings last February there were there and what he suggested is an official official in the press box watching the game the way the fans watch and if he sees something egregious or something that that should have been seen but it wasn't seen he can throw a flake or hit a button and it's a penalty and it's going to be called yeah some older official maybe as lost some agility can't move around as much but he has insight and he has is and and he's and he he can correct things and not allow these games be changed and winners and losers decided on calls it should be should be made a coach in the press agreed that that's what they should do but for some reason New York and whatever he decided that they didn't want to do it for whatever reason the AF had a when their brief incarnation before they folded halfway through the year but they had it what they call the eye in the sky official and that's exactly what you're talking about I think it would have been a better resolution for the NFL than the challenging the opposite power passengers in general which they have overturn I think one out of it's an absolute joke they said well we're not going to do the fish rulebook except you're you're speaking to the Fan Bay will we're trying we you're not just trying you better make sure you fix it Bagri point you turn you turn the page you move onto the next game is Notre Dame not a hard game to get the guys to turn the page and get ready or this is one of the three robbery games on the schedule that I'll be here in Ann Arbor this season big game coming up and I know for you you really excited to get them back on the schedule last year now you have a chance to get them at home yeah it's a big game winning the next game so important and talking about where our team is and and I would like our team and were they are and where they're headed and you had this opportunity at huge huge kind of kind of things that memories are made of I remember being made it was earlier today at a chance to watch some old clips I was watching the nineteen seventy eight the Montana versus leach game and you must have had a lot of fun down South Bend back eighteen seventy eight when it was the original renewal of the rivalry and it was a great game is coming back on that it was a beautiful sunny day in in South Bend in The two great quarterbacks away it turns out Dan Devine was the head football coach at Notre Dame he had been a very desperate coach in Missouri and he was on he was walking that sideline and Boesch Mbacke learn the other side and were you at that Game Jim I was do you remember what do you remember about it and they're sitting in the end zone and watching in Michigan victory can't remember the plays that well but I remember being there it's funny what your mind goes to I remember being in the Locker Room I swear to God knute Rockne a touch this touch this wall talk about being in a place like the big house or in that great stadium I was watching some of the highlights of marsh touchdown pass Rick and also rough plan and the one that Ralph Clayton caught was when he got popped right at the goal line and went down was out cold but he held onto the football and that was the second touch late the game they're really good played really good football very talented team that's playing very well together and very well coached physical team and and we're very excited about the challenge coach appreciate it as always coming up next to talk to your brother brothers coming off a big victory in Seattle we'll talk about the ravens in their win over the seahawks and the wedding band from Lewis Jewelers my wife's wedding band her engagement rings she's got a really Nice Lodge off.
"harbaugh" Discussed on The Lead
"Hey nick. How's it going good. Are you not too bad. So where are you right now. I am at Michigan Radio and Ann Arbor and did you go to Michigan. No I actually went to Michigan State. Okay so so we can't trust anything that you're about to say in other words people like to people like to make a thing of that but yeah that's not really you know with our job. That's what we do so just is what it is all right so what has been the mood in Ann Arbor since this game on Saturday. It's strange. It's not it's not like people are out in the street picketing or something. I mean they're not you know furious to appoint of you know this is just an embarrassment of a program program but they're hurt or confused or or something along that nature where I think that there's no answer really and you know people are kind of just it's a lot of head scratching and maybe more vigorous head-scratching than there's been in in recent years. What is the case against Jim Harbaugh. Like what is the big knock against. This guy can't be quality opponents away from home teams of equal talent when talent is even and he's in an uncomfortable situation away from Michigan Stadium that he can't get it done because that's and that's the one thing standing in their way from going from good to great and that was really encapsulated in this game last Saturday against chance Wisconsin. I mean you know what what what is it that went wrong on Saturday four to nothing dominate from Wisconsin they went down twenty-eight nothing in the first half and hapless it was the worst half they've had of the Harbaugh era. They got pushed all over. The place. Defensively weren't physical. They're outclassed in every area so they're at work. They're skin. There are coach thorough prepared the whole shot so it was really a complete and thorough beating. Do not let that final score for you. That was not a thirty five fourteen game that was thirty five live nothing game that was Michigan being down twenty-eight nothing at half so there's you know big pressure and expectations on every college football coach and on every program program but it seems like at Michigan are just dialed up a little bit and that partly because of the amazing tradition of the program and it all began with that victory victory in the first football game in Michigan team ever played in eighteen seventy nine. You know it's the all time winningest program in cultural history which in part because it's one of the oldest in Jim Harbaugh of course was part of that amazing Michigan football tradition as a player strike. It's not just that but also hear it in. I mean his his dad was an assistant coach at Michigan Back Promotion Boeckler and then he we grew up in in in several areas but I mean he played high school football for a minute in Ann Arbor Pioneer High School which is right across the street from Michigan Stadium he's in Annaborough harbaugh ahead a great college career and he also went on to have a along pretty successful. NFL career yeah yeah I mean and again toughness keping comeback that was the nickname was drafted by the bears. Ah Football game played eighteen years the NFL and I mean that's hard to do for anybody in and he's a guy who was football's entire life. you know he lives in breezy game he said before you you know his plan growing up was to college football play in the NFL for as long as you can go for as long as you can and then die and that's Jim her bows life. That's what he wants to do. And that's that's that's just how it goes and after he retired from playing he gets into coaching he goes to San Diego and then takes a much bigger job at Stanford turns out from kind of laughing stock walk into a college football power off the San Francisco Forty niners that you know struggling franchise that he takes and completely flipped on its head. I mean they were in the super bowl in your to according to the ball game and Ben Yates correct they were a contender for the first three years there and then things began to fizzle out between him and in ownership and management but a guy who again again every place he went as a coach you know he took a team that was struggling and flipped it and did it in three short order and along the way he earned a bit of a reputation for being you you know kind of a colorful character yeah. I mean he's an interesting guy because that's the best way to put it. He just he's really not apologetic. He's likes to sign a lot of quotes. People are heaping flowery words of praise Tanya then you feel more exposed before your enemies use that you try to shut this Ralph Waldo Emerson there and so when Harbaugh was was hired as a head coach at Michigan in two thousand fourteen. That was a huge deal. I mean he was one of the biggest names in coaching at the time and it was like the return of the Prodigal Nicholson. I think the gym was likely no Shirley was a candidate for any of these pro jobs open yesterday and yet he chose to come home. That was the largest attended press conference Michigan. Had I mean there. Were people pressed face thing on the glass outside the building. There are people waiting outside fans nuts. People were crying. It was a whole thing bringing a familiar name back to the state. There's this wonderful great coach and he can. He can out Michigan like to a better future and help them win more football so full disclosure here. My grandfather actually played eight football at Michigan. My parents met at the University of Michigan and I actually just did a journalism fellowship at U. of M. and there's this phrase that I've heard a lot on campus campus Michigan Man. No Man is more important than team. No coach is more important than the team the team the team the eighteen and if we can you explain what that phrase means most people who define themselves that would tell you that that that person is someone who is is willing to be super competitive and put himself beneath the greater need of the entire program whatever it be if you're a football player basketball player a doctor her or whatever you're you're doing everything you can for the greater good of the entire institution and was that part of the excitement with harbaugh. I mean was he seen as a Michigan man. Am I used to say Jim. Harbaugh Michigan went together like peanut butter and Jelly and a shot a red bull. I mean it was like perfect. I mean it was like the exact when he was hired. There was no other option and the program that he took over was somewhat in shambles. I mean they'd been twelve and thirteen over the previous. Two seasons frustration was virtually at an all time high and tomorrow's how does credit he came in and pretty quickly turned the program around yeah. He did what he always does. Michigan I mean there was a five and seventeen. They flipped it They were tenants revolving your they double the win total. This team needed more than anything was a boost in their mental toughness in their Mezzo confidence and that's what he brought back to this team. After this fan base he still calls it his favorite year in football the favorite year he's ever had and Harbaugh put together several ten win seasons which hadn't happened at Michigan in quite some time but of course the measuring stick for Michigan Football Coach is Ohio State and Harbaugh is yet to beat them. They've lost four straight to them so they have one win over st since it's two thousand three in our wise man will solve it you know of course again. It's a hard job because Ohio state chief rival states been one of the best programs in America for well over a decade so harbaugh has earned this reputation for not being able to win the big games but is that really fair. I mean couldn't this just be a case of bad luck in him. Losing a handful of big games yeah I mean that's why it's interesting because the two thousand Sixteen Ohio State game for instance was they played him for most of the game a call goes against him at the end and and they lose a thriller and so if it's that every time if they've lost six of those games like that that way then I would say no. That's not fair because I mean they're just yeah. They're on the wrong end of of of just the game. I guess but it's not that they're getting beat by a field goal at the last second it's that they're getting thoroughly and this. This Wisconsin was probably the worst I will start to question okay. Is this actually going to work because you're going to be able to take them from good to great.

What are we got there henny penny. I know you liked the long spaghetti but it's better yeah yeah like the most chilly the penny i thought it was a long spaghetti which is too difficult to make for a lot of people. That's good point about doc sticks together. That's bureau mom used to make our own noodles the long she used to cut them some rolled out of the table then cut it and then hang hang up from hangers all over the kitchen. You weren't there you weren't there jack. You're obviously our members are usually was in the wintertime when there there was a big snowstorm coming and she would start to make the homemade noodles he was usually on the road recruiting class one time at pittsburgh and i was telling our kids about jackie. How she made her own bread she bake your own bread and she made her own noodles spaghetti and and one kid asks to mr harbaugh did she turn her own butter order. If there was a snowstorm coming she might churned butter she was she was handy around the house. She did all those those. There's extra thing we used to hang the pasta from the i'll lay the law the light fixture up above because it had all those arms lana anna that the lights were outside hanging over that i mean there's fluorescent lights. You know they weren't fluorescent. They're called share like a chandelier but it was not an expensive light fixture ordered. We live where we had. Chandeliers wasn't a show light layer. It was a life you're. You're just a regular like fister. Among yeah sputtered have little hawks on smokes some decorative my mom you know a lot out of a lot of women that were great cooks seventies eighties kind of rolled around and a lot of them went to the microwave jag harbaugh aw stayed with the actual baking in the cooking and stirring in the homemade. Did we have a microwave not not in this essentially. I don't even think i did we did in high school. Bowling green kentucky was your first microwave. I would've been the eighties. You'd never turn to it well. I didn't use the microwave threw off and that's what i'm saying yeah. That's why we're so healthy. I don't know what i'd do. Boy jack harbaugh ever cooked a meal. You're fifteen eight. Years is a marriage. Has he ever cooked a whole meal wholemeal well. He does know how to make popcorn and he does well. He did make himself as sandwich the other week. Wow that's a first. I've never seen that you've shamed me. Shania podcast or could make a sandwich now experimenting with sandwiches sandwiches and looking to move forward. He dead make himself a pizza once when you were in town in kentucky and he sat on the knife to hear that story oh she stabbed stabbed himself with the knife that he was using to cut the pizza. You'll get a tetanus shot but anyway you were playing with the bears as we were somewhere where we could get their practice practice stuff scrimmage this scrimmage eight. They were gonna show some scrimmage. Vilma jackie was gone and so i had a pizza there and i knew the show was coming on so i got the pizza out of the oven and i'm carrying it and i knew i wanted to cut slices in it so i took the pizza in front of the t._v. Set now if you can just picture this. I'm holding holding the t._v..

He's i'm i'm his biggest fan and so i got her signed poster right before finals and it didn't help migrated by overall. I mean i the poster i know i i regret that now. It was a good one too and i thought she was gonna help me a little bit but now now i didn't like a lot of people knew i didn't make it known and sometimes it was hard but in georgia like you said who you are knows how about how about you know people will say things and about coaching and about your dad. How do you kind of get callous to it. It just kinda stopped caring because i knew that they knew nothing about what they were talking. Well i mean sometimes it hurt but you have to develop a thick skin one time. There's this thing on april fools where the teacher was like. Oh tom crean got fired today and i was in the class and i was like i was like that's not true right text my mom. I was like what's going on so that was her idea of an april fools joke so that was fine overall. It wasn't too bad and i got through it. I mean people definitely had a lot to say and they thought that you were gonna tell your dad and their opinion opinion doesn't matter and they're just a a student that means nothing like in their opinion james. Tell us you hear. Jimmy's experience your experience. Your dad's the head football coach you've been here. You came here when he came here together for four years. How how is it to be a student and and your father's the head football all coach university of michigan. It was such a funny little process wasn't it because i applied to michigan when he was still at the forty niners thinking he was secure. They're going to stay there here for a long time. I just thought it would be funny thing to apply to where my dad went to schools. It would be a fun thing to say oh. I applied to michigan. Maybe i'll get in. There'd be a nice thing to tell him. Then i started getting really obsessed with the idea of coming here right about the time that he was decided to come here anyway and we decided about the same time it wasn't because he was coming here here. It sort of just became the thing where i was trying to get so far away from my parents gulick two thousand miles away from home and then suddenly home comes to me. We're all here together which has been so amazing. Okay just one thing you're you're out. Somewhere right was your day. What is jim harbaugh thinking. How could he possibly run the ball when in its third down and an eight yards and you're with your friends and they're talking about your dad is if he doesn't know anything about football i i normally don't get much like that because i think people that blunt maybe but the funny is part has been then because they got here in two thousand fifteen the same year he got here. You know like the the frenzy was kinda. Fever pitched so at emden. You know they sell like sublimated t shirts shirts of his face bobbleheads christmas ornaments. I had one of those what's fidget spinners but the space leonard weird stuff and people would <hes> because my name was on my door just said james and somehow process of elimination..

And they're just sitting there and watching movies and joying those off probably never movie that I watched I this rewind wanted every single time to everybody seems very. Everything is like having the they're loving it. That's kind of a consistent theme. Everybody on time this morning guy breakfast time, and and just ready to like just attack the day the tax day known to mankind Kabul in studio. They're back in studio right now. So we'll kick it back to you guys. And we'll see you soon back does soon. But first here's Maddie de with offense coordinator, Josh Gaddis. We're with coach Gaddis offense coordinator wide receiver coach coach Saturday morning. We just woke up long day travel. What is your first impression of Capetown? So far, just amazing. How beautiful it is literally where we're saying. It's amazing resorted to selling right against the water. You see mountains waking up and saying the sunrise, it was like a kid in candy store this morning, waking up I'll just excited and kinda seem sunrise beautiful as part of the country as we are one hundred yards away from the beach right now big crashing ways on. Threes. What do you think the guys are seeing child excited with your interaction this morning? Oh, the really exciting. You know? That's all the talking about is how beautiful this place is, you know, they're very thankful for these opportunity on his trip. It was something that we would probably a little bit worried about what the long flight, but our kids analytics during the will they slept on the plane, and you can tell their excitement in there. You know, this time for them to bomb. You know, they're having fun being around their teammates enjoying this opportunity to give it a day. And what was the thing that you did the pass the time on the flight? Well, I watched all our spring. Yeah. Download it all failed from practice and a lot of spring cleaning, you know, as far as watching our ups and practicing and a little sleep in there and watch the movies caught up on designated survivor so season two of that. "So by the way, the Jim Harbaugh rumor today for a pro football talk said one team will aggressively pursue Jim Harbaugh. They did not name the team. They said there is one team that will make an aggressive move toward Jim Harbaugh now Harbaugh the recruiting season is mostly over. I do think there's reasons why Jim Harbaugh could leave Michigan. He's never gonna wanna national championship there. The south has more good players in their geographical footprint. Bama. Auburn georgia. Clemson. Second of all recruiting pain in the butt, most coaches don't love doing it and three he's a Super Bowl caliber head coach who was unjustly fired because he couldn't get along with jed York or Trent, bulky. There's also reasons why I get Jim Harbaugh would stay, and I think those are very real it his program he played there. He loves it. Boesch mbacke Laurie idolizes them Michigan's a great place to live in Arbor. Second thing urban Meyer's leaving. So it's going to be Jim Harbaugh and James Franklin and a bunch of dudes. And then you don't have to deal with the crazy owner. And that's the thing he got thrown out of the NFL because of crazy owner, but my my takeaway on this is. Jim Harbaugh got fifteen more years of head coaching. He's going to be offered a job every year in the NFL for the next fifteen years, and he's gonna get a situation. I thought the Indy job was perfect. Andrew lock. Have been. But I think it's too soon to leave Michigan his work there. Do not finish. Just ask yourself if you're an aspirational person. And you're you've already done great. You've got a pile of money, a beautiful wife and family and your legacy cemented and for fifteen straight years. You get offered the highest level of coaching. Yeah. I don't think his his legacy is cemented. There yet though. Well, I think if you went to couple big ten couple years, but he's certainly not a failure at mission. No, he hasn't won the level. And now he will. So I I just don't think Jim for fifteen years gonna turn down all the opportunities. He's going to be afforded blazing five tomorrow. We are red hot back to back winning weeks. One of our last blazing fives. We have about three to go in L A. See you tomorrow. It's the herd..

"I've would not be surprised if brought Colin kaffir Nic along with them, and we would just watch dolphins Twitter just burned to the ground. I wanna be surprised either because they support Kenny stills who is doing the same things. Cowan capper Nick is doing Cowan capper Nick gets in trouble from people because he was the first one to do it. But it all fully supportive of Kenny stills and everything that he does and Kenny stills in Colin Kaepernick, talk and work together, I presume on social injustice and everything that goes on with debts. So yes, I wouldn't be surprised either. So let me throw this at you. If Jim John Harbaugh became available, but Jim Harbaugh didn't. So that Harbaugh last name in Ross is very close to the family. You think he chases John Harbaugh? And would you want him to I would say Apso freaking Lutely? You get that deal done. I would say yes to because he has established success with the trenches. And I think that's something that's been sorely missing. The dolphins for a long time to just have that physicality. Let's use this weather to its advantage where people down I mean, that's what that was the mastermind behind this whole stadium. So let's get physical. And let's use that advantage. I think either Harbaugh would be an upgrade on that front. The I agree either John Harbaugh or Jim Harbaugh would be an upgrade to what we currently have. I mean, you saw what he did there in Baltimore. He want super SuperBowl. Joe flacco. I mean, that's pretty damn impressive in itself. He's just one of those guys who just understands football coordinators are always good his defenses are always good. You know, they're they're pretty solid on offense. I mean, John Harbaugh Jim Harbaugh. I'm in for either of them. I mean, I I like Adam gays I hope he succeeds because if he succeeds at means this team's doing good things. But if you. Get John Harbaugh. What he's done there in Baltimore the stability. They've had. I mean, they've been consistent contenders pretty much each never year. I mean, that's hard to overcome east conduct like that more than Lewis with Andy Reid, you know, who is with one team so long that they're just trying to move on. I don't know if they get rid of because Baltimore still in the thick of things and Lamar Jackson. You're starting to see hope, but if John Harbaugh available go out and get him. We are recording this podcast in the middle of the titans Jaguars game. Just say Derrick Henry is going off. He scored another touchdown. This is third touchdown of the nights ninety nine yarder. Earlier this one. Another long one previously head about a twenty yard of this one is a fifty yarder. Derrick Henry what a freaking night. That's that's actually is fourth. Touchdown. He is up or touchdown. Okay. Is up to fifty point nine points in standard fantasy football leagues. I mean, this one has his two hundred nineteen yards rushing. Four touchdowns. Is unbelievable. And it was funny. It's week fourteen. And finally realize that they have dare Kenro on the roster that she the football. It's just mind blowing. If if anyone started Derrick Henry in fantasy, and I'm sure there are people who did you just advanced the next Ronald playoffs. Congratulations. I know this is the dolphins podcast. You know, we're watching a game right now. I just had to interrupt because he is just going nuts right now. That's insane. I just picked him up on waiver wire too. I have a playoff by this week. So man, and he's got a giants match up next week. So my have to start him. Yeah. I'm checking all my leagues right now on I'm not playing him any of them main. God he did it on eleven carries. Two hundred nineteen yards on eleven carries. Yeah. That's just ridiculous. Absolutely insane. All right. Let's get back on track. Here. We talked about Harbaugh. We talked about Ross we talked about exhibit. How Tom soul we broke down a bit of the patriots dolphins games. And that's been the news this weekend. Dolphins land, basically. Right. I mean, if the dolphins lose on Sunday their season for all intents and purposes, basically officially done. Yes, they could still spine to squeaky way in nine and seven, but they probably would have a one percent maybe less chance to even get in..

"Ooh. Basically, you use the word, basically there, it would we have it on record. It was within the habit on the phone on record. So I don't have the video, but there are still still but the catcher didn't have to extend right? The arm was in the in the in the range. So I can't say that. But here's a here's a trivia as we lost George Bush forty one here over the weekend. I saw an interesting statistic he is the only president of the United States to throw out the first pitch in a major league baseball game that threw the ball from the mound because a lot of times presidents used to do it from the stands, but he played any play baseball. Sure. All right Yale without saying. But of all the great things about George Bush, forty one to me, that's cool. The man walked onto the mound. Now, that's pressure. That's randomly the local tied. George Bush forty one he went to college Yale with the Fords. Martha. Ford firestone. And William clay Ford. They went to school together and a real close tie between the Fords and the Bush, so one of those things that you just says you start reading all the news over the last few days. I saw that one of the local interesting local type totally random has nothing to do with the basement. But thought I would mention that in here. What come I the first time? I was down here. Come. I am a again on the left. You have all these footballs from the championship and that kind of stuff and to the left. There are some old books like the Harbaugh history. Nineteen forty seven what are the old books that you have down here? That's interesting. Because back when I was growing up we had this book in our house. They Harbaugh family tradition. The ancestry of the family and in the book, it's it is about one thousand nine hundred forty eight but it talks about the family settling in Harbaugh valley in Maryland in seventeen thirty six is when three brothers came over Joost Harbaugh and his two brothers came over. And settled about one hour from Baltimore you can drive from John's house to Harbaugh vow. Alley in about in about an hour, and there's a mountain there and each brother settled, a different level, low level, medium level and a high level, and they raised cattle sheep sheep, re race sheep there. And it's Harbaugh valley, and you go there in Harbaugh Harbaugh valley road, go Jackie way, all with their every almost everybody in the family with their took their picture by it. But there's actually two difference cemeteries of the two different brothers and in that on the cemetery. It's one of the Harbaugh's was a minister and churches there by the cemetery. So there's all these different names. And there's a lot of Harbaugh's and a lot of Miller's and different people who and each one of these books is about the Harbaugh, and you might the life of. Reverend Henry Harbaugh DD, whatever that means and this poems that he wrote. Now, there's people out there. I know they're shaking. And saying Reverend Harbaugh and then homes in the same sense with Harbaugh name or shaking their head and saying this can't possibly be true. But I doubt if they found that blue book, it's well well-worn. But but that also means that there's a loquacious nets and one of the Harbaugh's that we know very well loquacious. You're going to have to explain that to me. Right. I think you might be right wise locations mean, rather well-spoken and talkative. You know, tell stories and all that runs in the family. I'll say it runs. Just ask your son about how much water there isn't a Great Lakes, and he'll go on and on about that..

We're not having any talks right now on Jimmy Butler, but he was very transparent, very open, his players I'm told and that it's it's not is very unique. When a GM or team president comes in meat. Your players right before the start of the NBA listen, you guys are good. You guys are safe for now, but I think eventually depending on how the temporal season goes talks are going to rekindle. All right. Trump's give people your Twitter account that can follow you. He's a new NBA guys. Very good. He's a hustler Shamsher Rania. What's your Twitter account? Just my name Sean Surani k. spell it for the audience. It is spelled s. h. a. n. s. h. a. once you put the first four letters, it'll you got enough all I know how the Twitter thing works. I four letters, boom goes right to it. You're a blue check guy. All right. Good luck to you. You're fantastic. I follow you all the time. You do your work. You're a hustler. I like that. All right, coming up next shit, Jim Harbaugh's all those things and all you, Jim Harbaugh haters. Oh, get ready. It's gonna be a bad weekend. Let's give me a terrible weekend for you. If you hate Jim Harbaugh and for those of us who love him, you know, the ones who actually follow football and apparently no, he can coach all that next. The herd. Via mobile postseason heats up tonight with game six of the NFL CS Manny Machado and the dodgers just one win away from their second straight to the World Series. They'll try to finish off Christian yelich from the brewers and Milwaukee coverage begins at seven. Thirty eastern on f s one and the Fox Sports app. Yellow is gonna win the nationally MVP, but he's been shut down in the series three for twenty. I think one of his hits was abundant was so he hasn't done anything in this series. Josh hater is available for tonight and I think you know, earning the series, I thought Milwaukee was the better team. Boston was the better team than Houston. This goes either way I felt early in the series. It was Milwaukee, but yelich isn't hitting and so cross your fingers. If you're in Los Angeles, I do think the dodgers in the Red Sox would be the better World Series more stars, historic parks in history. Alright, every week. At this time I take the biggest or second biggest third-biggest top two or three games in college football this week. There's one huge game in college football, I call it these spoiler alert. So if you don't want to know the result of the biggest game in college football. All this weekend and please by all means turn away. Here we go. Warning Colin is about to reveal the outcomes of the biggest college football games this week. If you don't want to know exactly what's going to happen turn away. Now I'm Michigan is going on the road to take on Michigan state. This is a tale of two different teams, Michigan, it's Jim Harbaugh's best team ever. They run the football. They pounded it for three hundred yards and three TD's against Wisconsin and you can't run on them. They're the best rushing defense in the country, not Alabama, not Clemson. They have to me, they have the best defense in the country, but easily the best rushing defense in a rushing conference. The big ten at quarterback. They've turned it around with shaped Patterson. They had an awful first quarter against Notre Dame, and since then have been the best team in the conference. Meanwhile, Michigan state, it's an inbetween year offensively. They allow the second most sacks in the conference which is big trouble against Michigan's defensive front and also mission. Egan state. One of the rare Michigan state teams that doesn't play great defense. They're running backs, only average three and a half yards a carry. You can get to their quarterback and they don't get to yours spoiler alert. Michigan wins this game twenty eight to twenty at..

"Doug alley been for Colin, this is the heard. Klay travels join us next hour Claes been killing John Harbaugh. Jim Harbaugh, excuse me. Probably John Harbaugh as well. And Ma and PA Harbaugh clay Travis out kicked the coverage. The morning show on FOX board. Frady hilt ill, join us. Also, you can see them a new TV show, lock it in. We'll see how his picks went week, one of the season as part of the deal now, right? Like clay, killing people over there picks in over their numbers. Now the sudden dude, you're putting a TV show daily, putting your your betting bets out there. We'll see how we'll see how that that that works out. Get you ready for this upcoming NFL season. Fascinating reaction to the Cleal MAC trade lady on bell, still holding out, not showing up. Louis reaction be like if the Steelers traded Leon on Belfer two first round picks today. I think the amazing for this dealers. For the Steelers, but nobody's giving like nobody's giving up to. I on picks for a Twenty-seven-year-old running back who might be the best in the sport. Why are we saying the same thing about glue Mak obviously, is values higher because of his age, his position and the fact that you don't seemingly don't fade as much from that position. But who has a greater impact on the game. Clay, Travis mixed. Our walls taken a Michigan later on in the show. We got NFL football in three days, three days. D do that thing where you can't the day you're in? I don't. That's like the old back when used to have to ask directions. This is a hard one for millennials used actually have to either have a Thomas brothers guide. We'll have some traditional map or stop and ask somebody, hey, Adam, I get the Jimmy's restaurant. Me go, you go biz six lakes and you take a right. And the big question is you pull away was count the first light. I'm at the corner. Do I count this? This one or is is light zero. Nobody does light zero do they anyway. So we are three days away. And actually, if you really wanna get down from it less than three days away. And it. 'cause tomorrow's another day, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, but the Thursday Thursday is completed. That's the end of the anyone. Point is were a couple of days away from NFL football. I was watching Alabama and it's fascinating how Alabama's able to consistently do it. And others are not. Now you could have put you could point out that last year they buy your estimation, not winning their conference championship, not getting the conference championship game. They should not have been in the conference. They should not have been in the college football playoff one that they won and look. If that's your argument. If you wanna go with, you have to win your conference championship. That's fine. I think that's obtuse to the realities of divisions that are not equal schedules that are not equal teams that are not equal. There is a certain I test to it. But with so many of these teams struggling to find consistency as good as Florida state had been for years, the Andre Francois goes down, gets hurt, and suddenly the bottom falls out there. Whereas Ohio State with a third string, quarterback wins national championship and Alabama with Jalen hurts, who's an average quarterback better running quarterback than throwing quarterback and gets replaced, they're able to keep it going compete for national championship year after year. I think the thing you find with the Ohio states in the Alabama's recruiting juggernauts is this is basically what Kentucky and Duke would look like if guys had to stay in school for more than a year. Just the depth of quality recruits at they're able to get, allows them to sustain success for longer than his people comes in the same way. Comes in the same way. But the hardest thing in college football is were trying to, and this is the perfect example why it's hard at the end of the year is what happens to the start of the year, was I impressed by Alabama? Yes. But let's remember, Alabama played essentially a home game against the Louisville team, who even with Lamar Jackson, hadn't shown himself to being an elite top twenty in the country team, and they lost large action who was far and away their best and most important player..

"This is pretty exciting Jason today. Kiss he's an alum of Saturday Night Live. He's movie star. I loved him in the movie race. I don't know if you guys have seen the Jesse Owens movie race, but it was phenomenal. And here's a comedic actor doing a very serious role and he was terrific. And that movie is also the executive producer of Detroiters, which is basically where this conversation of having him on came from, and we'll get to that actually just a moment with coach, Jim Harbaugh here, and then of course, so in chrome, which is also dramatic role for him and heck of a good movie you've ever seen. I have not seen that one yet. He's a really, you know, most guys get into your your comedic actor. You're serious actor. Eventually you can do some crossovers, but I was fined comedic. Actors have a harder time crossing over because you're kind of typecast. I think he's done a pretty good job. Jason's today. Kaz has of putting that type cast aside because he's a, he's a very funny guy could do some physical comedy at cetera yet he can have the role of Jesse Owens as coach. Ch- who here I am commending a guy for playing a role of an Ohio State coach here on our podcast, but he was terrific in in race in a serious role, and you're talking obviously about another one. I've always been impressed with comedian stand up comedians. They can do it all. I mean, they can. They can act. They can get on stage and do an hour hour and a half set and all the things that they're dealing with with a room. I just find him really intelligent people and they can they, they're knowledgeable about so many subjects in there. I envy the part where they can. They can just come back with something like right on the spot. And usually I think in my best stuff about a half hour later. I'm driving home, and if I did just ahead of right there on the tip of might done, what was I think I could really knocked out of the part did I never? It's not on the tip of my tell you, oh, it's like a half hour later, Mary deep and it's coming much deep. You know, maybe let's just talk about maybe the greatest of them all would would fit into the category that we've just talked about the comedic actors that have done serious roles and I have a name and I'd like to have anyone kind of find one better. Okay, Robin Williams. It's a great example. Great example, Jim Carey, Jim Carey had some very didn't know that until recently. He's he's kind of going serious actor. Just recently hasn't areas he'd done some things in the past. He had done a few series, the passive Wilson myth and moving Hannity he's done. He's the. Andy, I have not seen Andy. Andy call. You turn it and call. He was a role. He's had his career. Tell you once you turn into Andy Asia peg -tective you're making who've I guess my point, I guess because he had to it as Ventura, he's creating a character in the movie. He had to be Andy Kaufman and not. That's such a hard roll eighty. Coffee was so unique that had to be such a hard roll to get really honed in on, but he was terrific in that movie. The movies are very, very entertaining. Jim Carrey had a very good career. Yeah, the same. Another another example. Yeah, there's a few of them. I know a lot of people judge actors and comedians and things like that. But. A comedian, there's no, there's nobody really has to write a review. Did the crowd laugh or not? Wait a second next day, the comedian, they could say, did this or that and didn't do this very well. But the votes are already in. We were there. We were all watching the show. I mean, brought the house down and. Whether I think it's darn near possible to make people laugh that well, my wife tells me whenever I tell a joke, I just I'm not good at it. I, the timing is off. I don't have an understanding for for timing and it's like telling a story, you know, you tell a story and you're good at it that you know, you know how to great, great. Lying about my story right here. No, no, you're doing very well. Bob a lot last week..

"It locked. Can you send your friend our way. Twitter, tall, hey, Dave. I hate to do, but we gotta we gotta run. I wanna. Thank you so much for joining us bet online dot AG. Thank you so much, dude. All right. Don't begin soon. Dave, Sam don't even lie. You would put some money down. I'm an app, you knew him a degenerate. The weirdest thing you and I have. I have put money down in the past. Have you done a bed, you sure didn't plenty profits in my day. Give me one come to mind. Weirdest online propaganda. I think I bet once during a boxing match where evanger Holyfield was helping to call the match the over under was how many times the other announcers will mention Tyson. Biting his ear off. And the over under one and a half, really. And I took over, I took the under. I was like, they're gonna, ask him once. He's gonna answer it and then they're going to move on. And I was right. Oh. I thought they would have made a meal out of that. No, it's just an ear. It's not enough. It's by the way that's. Now what I said. Attention. So what are we looking at Gary, how we doing on time, we got to wrap this up. We got about ten or fifteen more than, okay, thanks, Sam. Kidding kidding. Did you. What are we talking about? Yeah. What are we talking about? Throw it out there sisters. Do you watch any you have see over the weekend? Did you open this one? I love the story about Jim Harbaugh. Did he Jim Harbaugh. Favorite thing. He told his old quarterback William Speight who I think is now the quarterback at UCLA not to eat chicken because it's a nervous bird. So he just he, he did not want his athletes to eat chicken because he thinks chickens are nervous nervous by Moses because they're nervous meet. We'll get into this is just another example of Jim Harbaugh being a fucking weirdo are what you eat. They're taking song. Chicken, I'm going to be a chicken on the field there. There are these worms. I, I know your listeners are going to come at me with this, the correct science on the story. I'm going to get it wrong, but I feel like the gist is right there. Were these worms and scientists were like these worms have so few cells in them like we think they, this could be like cell transference one creature to another. So what they would do is they would build these little mazes for these worms. It put food at one end and they'd make him go in and they would do this maze and learn all the wrong ways to get there. And then they'd finally get there. And then they would take these worms and they'd mush them up and feed them to the other worms. And then the other worms they put in the maze and they didn't go into the wrong way and the way out, right. So what I'm said is, so what I'm saying is Harbaugh he's onto something. So what I'm saying is it's okay to eat chicken, but don't eat other nervous football players. That's not good point, right? So take nervous chickens, eat nervous chickens, fine because there's no interest. Jim wasn't in it. You can't. Species doesn't work eating chicken inter species species. Interspecies. I see what you're saying. Yeah, there's a, there's a definitive logic. Yes. If you eat another nervous football player, you're going to be nervous. Don't do that. That is a cogent argument. Thank you thought as well placed dated Jimmy Shubert. He has this bit about chicken omelette like omelettes that have chicken in them. He's like kind of looking maniac. That anywhere it's called the mother and daughter. The worst come at me. Here's.
