Roger Schulman: It Will Not Be a Sunny Day Tomorrow
"Mandatory evacuations have still been ordered in a lot of areas of hillsborough and pinellas county. And governor desantis this morning urging people to heed those evacuations, roger. Absolutely. We are not going to have a bright sunny day tomorrow. This is not going to be a pleasant experience for us, no matter where that hits within 50 miles down there. It is definitely about 70 miles south of the immediate Tampa Bay Area, but hurricanes are wide events. It's not like a pencil thin tornado. This is a very wide area of very disturbed, high intensity weather. So we are not out of the Woods yet in the immediate Tampa Bay Area. And those evacuations are still in effect, the airports are still closing, schools are still closing. It is a modification. It is a glimmer of hope for us, but it is certainly not happy days again.
Rep. Ben Cline Unpacks Biden's Request for $22B in COVID-19 Aid
"Is up now with the Biden administration on 22 billion more in COVID funding? That is a pretty ridiculous request on their part when they've got so much left over, they are in the face of rapidly declining numbers. Trying to prop up this pandemic policy where they can continue to funnel money to health districts to big pharma to all of their favorites in the name of this pandemic, which is we have continued to see declining numbers. So I don't know where that number came from. I think that if I never have to wear another mask, I'll be a happy day. And for them to continue to push for more PPE and more masking and more of this stuff is just the wrong direction. And so I don't think there's going to be support for it in Congress among Republicans or for more money for Ukraine or for attaching even at gay marriage bill to a funding bill. I think there's talk of that, but that's been discounted by our product and Democrats.

"Place, just like Gabby shared. And truth telling is one of her superpowers. You know, her being 42 years young, that's very powerful. So Gabby, you shared a lot of awesomeness throughout this entire interview today. Take a step back over all the things we talked about. What's the one thing you really want to make sure fire nation gets from our entire conversation? The one thing that I want the world to get right now is that there is a gentler softer way to live. There's this gorgeous passage from a metaphysical text called a course in miracles. And the passage is there is a way of living in the world that is not here, though it seems to be. We do not change appearance, but we smile more frequently, our eyes are soft and our forehead is serene. Doesn't that feel good to hear? And so my message is that there is a gentler softer way to live and it all starts with our choice. It starts with how we want to show up how we want to perceive the world, how we want to care for our inner well-being. Our happiness is a choice that we make. It doesn't mean that it doesn't require a lot of work and effort to get to a place where we change our patterns. But it begins with that choice. Yeah, let's end with a bang. Your book, happy days. It's all around the conversations that you and I have been having here today. Talk a little bit more about this book. Why you wrote it? Who is it for? Where can fire nation get their copy? This is my 9th book. 9 books and 11 years. I am so proud of this one in particular, because this is a journey that I had to live in order to write. And having the once again, the bravery and the courage to go through to the places that scare me so that I could come out the other side and put my face on the cover of a book that's telling a story of how to undo trauma and live

"Gabby, say what's up to fire nation and share something that you believe about becoming successful that most people disagree with? First of all, what's up, everybody? So good to be here. I'm giving myself a beat to think about my answer. So the thing that I believe about becoming successful that most people disagree with well, this isn't most people because I think a lot of entrepreneurs will agree with this. But definitely a lot of people, there's a whole other world out there that has the belief system that you need a business degree to be a successful entrepreneur. F that. I was 25 with a BFA in theater out there hustling at 21 with my first business all the way to 25 with that business and then often to a new business. And I was teaching and leading lectures at Georgetown business school at 24 years old. With no education in business, except for my own. Teaching myself. So that might be one. Well, I love that because it kind of sometimes helps you think outside of the box. So you're not just going in that straight line of what people think needs to happen for you become a quote unquote business person or entrepreneur or whatever that might look like. So there's a lot to be said of fire nation for this. Today, as I mentioned in the intro, we're talking about happy days because Gabby, we live in a world that makes it so hard to turn off. So hard to disconnect and just be present. So

"From my part, it's fine. She can go in forever. It's okay. Women would have like a separation anxiety. That they would have with dropping off their kids at preschool. They would now have it with leaving you after two years of being home with you. But that's good that she is so strong. She doesn't. Exactly. In fact, I set myself flowers, congratulating me on being two years. Surviving that. So yes. Did you actually consider sending her flowers for her first week back? No, I bought flowers to the house. Congratulating her. And then she brought me back like 400 brownies and baked by Melissa's and cupcakes and all those good stuff. I like that you got the flowers at home. Actually commemorate the fact that that was very sweet Paul. Right. You're much nicer than you let on. No, I'm not really. I'm not really. This is a very big milestone last week, a huge milestone in my life. I'm going to celebrate that like any other huge milestone. It's like your child finishing preschool. It's like being reborn again. That's what it is. It's very weird. We've all been living under captivity. So I still have everybody. Well, my kids are in school at least, but I've got people home. Right. And then I get scared in advance of my separation anxiety and abandonment issues. Even with everyone home, I started having panic attacks about what it's going to be when nobody's home. Oh, don't worry about it. It will be fine. Just parade around naked vacuuming. Nothing gets better than that. Like an untamed beast. I don't like my body naked as much as you must like yours now that you're all slim down. So that wouldn't be good for me. And I don't know the last time I actually vacuumed. Maybe I should start a mobile naked vacuuming service. Oh, you would do really well. You think so? Totally. Wow, maybe that's the next business idea. Nothing else has flown, maybe this is it for 2022. This is the new idea that'll sweep the nation. Exactly. Exactly. Yeah, exactly. And maybe you could hire people too. It's not all you is sometimes it's your minions that you send out. Correct. Right. So would you like to be a minion? Would you like to be a vacuum minion? No, but like some of your golf buddies who are in place. I'm telling you that none of my golf buddies you would want to see naked. Trust me. I've been in that locker room there. It's not a pretty sight..

"But I don't play tennis, and I know I would suck at pickleball. It's basically tennis. So that's why you need to be a cornhole or right. I really do need to probably work on that. Now, not that I'm a gross person, but could you imagine a sport where you put your pickleball in somebody's cornhole? Now that is now that is sport. That is naughty, mister Paul. I've told you, I'm so gleeful. I'm doing this. I put a shirt on because we're doing this via Zoom, but underneath sans clothing. I'm taking your approach. It's unbelievable. Do you really not have anything? Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. No, no underpants, nothing. Wow. I'm just walking around it's a good thing you can get up to go check on something. But you seem totally fully dressed. Exactly. So that's why it's being back in the city. That's so great that you don't well, you know, see, that's why I always say, you're going to keeping yourself busy, walk 15 miles a day. Right. You have things that you do. So if you're alone, you're okay doing them alone. N plus, you have your pals that you do stuff with. Exactly. So that's it. So that's why, you know, I almost ponied up the money to pay for happy days are here again so I could sing it throughout the show. But it would blow our budget for the next 200 years on the show. So I decided not to pony up, but happy days are here again. I just want to announce that. There's some questions I want to know. How is she finding the commute? Because now that a lot of people are going back are the trains full. No, I actually the trains are not full. She said there are about 50% full and they're running half the amount of times. So we make sure I make sure she makes it every single day. So as to not miss that train because if she misses it, then she'll have to stay at home for that day. So we make sure to get there. And she couldn't take the next train? Well, it could, but it's an hour and a half later and at that point, it's no reason to go away. And so we make sure to make that train. Oh, and with your must be a fun morning..
Politics Is Getting Murkier Every Day
"With respect to politics, my God, it's getting shittier and murkier every day. We've got a president who will not take questions when he says he thinks he should. The feed is miraculously mysteriously cut off when he leaves the podium and people want to know journalists literally doing that job asking, what have you learned about the crisis down at the border? And all Biden will offer us a lot as he keeps walking off the stage. He's a fucking asshole. He's not a president. And yet the other day I'm on Facebook and Anson Williams. Good old pozzi from happy days has the nerve and the stupidity to put up a post that says I for one am thrilled with the job that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are doing. Just right there, I want to go, what the fuck are you thrilled about? What you thrilled was the Keystone pipeline workers losing their jobs the first day in office. What you thrill with all this sudden immediate Amnesty for as many as 11 illegal immigrants around America. All you thrilled with transgender boys playing female sports at high school and collegiate levels and Olympic levels. Is that is that what you're thrilled with Anson fucking Williams? I told him he's out of his fucking

"She was finally getting her life back together again. She could now sleep through the night without having to wake up screaming from yet another nightmare. She could smile at people without faking it. Her heart was feeding normal. Now she could tell she had healed nor is he had managed to put her horrifying past behind her. She came out of herself made confinement and began to put yourself out there again. As long as you keep yourself lonely you will never get rid of that. Fear my dear. Her anathema amused. Ital- her thanks to her pretty look. It wasn't difficult for her to get a male attention. She got her fair share of ugly frogs to which she heated no attention before she found her prince charming. He was indeed charming and had a good heart. He had his act together to intact that nervous. He sometimes wondered if it was fair for him to end up with a once broken and glued backup girl like her. Don't feel guilty for the good things that come your way her. Andy's words would ring in her ear and banished the thoughts away. She was excited when he'd popped the question. She was going to be a wife but after the initial thrill subsided. She began to worry nanayakkara. Being the known media specialists would want to let his social circle know about the good news. She was however skeptical of doing that. She had moved to the city for a reason she was still in hiding although she was doing so in plain sight. But why are you not proud of getting married to me. Of course not nanna. I just don't want the unnecessary attention. Social media brings personal events. Like this i worked in the media. I've read the media. I've a lot of friends who would love to join us on our happy day. Why deny them that chance. How could she tell him. She didn't want to ruin the moment from him. I know he reserved. "I i think you just want pieces of great offense. So that kind of speaks to your michael gallup questions earlier of if this is going to be a really great offense. Won't michael gallup have some games. I think he he'll probably have a lot of them. And it's hard to complain like dot coming back from injury with zeke in those three wideouts and in two talented wide receivers with darwin and schultz that contributed. Well jar win will and schultz did last year. Like there aren't holes on this offense. You even have a great depth running back tony pollard. Who can Take a little bit of pressure off zeke or give you an explosive play like dacca's himself like it's impossible that this is not a top half offense in it's most likely going to be a top five offense in football. Yep i do not disagree. And they're by far my pick to win the division as much as i'm rooting for washington. Dallas is my pick. They have the highest vegas total. Where do you think that's a. I unfortunately just saw it so i will stain I mean are they really at nine and a half. There are nine okay. Yeah they were at nine and a half earlier. This offseason believe it or not but Without wide receiver room. Just because it's a great one doesn't mean it's easy to project for fantasy purposes because you might not know who to start winding stardom cooper lamb are going basically back to back in fantasy drafts. I mean you have. Both of them is fourth round picks and then gallops way down in the tenth round. So how do you see this playing out in terms of upside insecurity. I think security. If amari cooper is active by the time the draft come around and he's back at camp which is the expectation prior to the season. Then i still have this. I'm gonna be hanging with mr cooper. Because i think the security is there. The upside is there. When he's been with dak he's been absolutely phenomenal. He's also he moves around. They use them on the outside. They move into the slot. They move them everywhere because he is their primary. I re target even if he's not the most talented. If cd lamb. This season has leapfrogged him in talent. I do worry a little bit about the utilization. Will they do that now. That he's not a rookie. He absolutely could explore more but landing around two cds of the cd. I i am to a little bit. Because and i'm not happy about it this just true. Yeah well especially in right on hoover especially with the amari cooper injury. It makes it a lot easier. "I got i got something. That offering up on the podcast. Now if you have been with this podcast for a large amount of time you know. Congratulations and thank you for still sorry. A while. back jason moore. That's me use. You tried to start a movement a movement when it came to a beverage. Oh yeah the jason. More vet jason moore. That's right what was that. Oh it's half sprite half lemonade It'll be honest. It's probably about fifty five percents. Sprite forty-five lemonade. Hey when you order you just say jayson more than they know fifties fun. You also have to specify again. You can't say jason more. He tried he tried. You tried a lot. I've ordered plenty of jason morris. And then when they ask what that is. I teach them what it is like has an announcement to me. Yeah so i don't know if you saw the the viral videos of Nba champion jaanus. He is he was out. There ought to be illegal. yes Destroyer of our souls. But he went to a chick-fil-a and he bought a whole bunch of nuggets. He also bought a half sprite half chick-fil-a or a half lemme did Sam laminate half sprite. Salt in the wounds yes. I saw the salt being poured in. Well it's gonna get worse listening. No because chick-fil-a they're not is now in fact offering in some locations a chick-fil-a fifty fifty. That's what they're calling it. A chick-fil-a fifty fifty apps brighthouse chick-fil-a limited arm down with that. I thought you were going to say it was a jaanus abuse. Janas little angry though. This is great news. Because i can let let chick-fil-a help proliferate my creation but now it's it will never ever ever be j. samoa absolutely once people get one. I'm well not timestamped this brooks because it'll be the jason more still working on. Yeah it's coming all right. let's do it. Let's get divisional all right this. There's a lot to talk about in the nfc east a lot. This was not a good division last year. Seven nine one eight two six and ten teams of foreign eleven team. We start by talking about washington. But again i want to remind peterbilt they were seven and nine right so like distortion has happened. I think you know you win the division and that comes along with while you know. Mike spin excited about washington. I think we're hopeful for the marriage of ryan fitzpatrick in this in this football team but this was a seven nineteen. This is also a team that right now. What do you think the vegas line is for washington. Oh see i. I wondered if either of you have thought about this. I feel like it's easy to project the fifty fifty teams. There's fifty five. There's a five hundred team. So i would usually say but it's i'm going to more games. Eight and a half. I'm going to give them nine eight and a half. Jason has once again cheated and read. The i mean. Got it right on his own. Nope no you've been hitting them pretty. Well started to in seven last year. Though with dwayne haskins kyle allan. This was a this was a bad offense of football team with a capital b. Really really bad. Great defensive team Second in terms of pass yards given up four points against put it together to win over the last handful of weeks. Enough games to win the division with a sub. Five hundred record. So i think we begin by really examining i think the upside and downside of investing fantasy wise into this offense because on paper last year thirtieth and total yards. That tells you what you need to know. Twenty-fifth points per game It was led by hoskins. It was led by alex. Smith taylor key for a for a moment and allowing the kyle alan and this year the big editions. The two big additions of ryan fitzpatrick and courtesy him. You and so. Can those two editions take this from a dead last or nearly dead last offensive football team and put them on the map as the top half one hundred percent to me. They can do that. And here's where we need to bust out a very interesting stat. That differentiates fantasy football in real life football. You just illustrated how terrible this offense was overall and yet they had to go to top twenty four running backs a top twenty wide receiver and a top ten tight end for fantasy football. So don't let the the the the idea in projection that a team is going to have a bad offense completely scare you away from fantasy options on that team they are. They are not mutually exclusive saquon teams. So it it happens. But i think the addition of ryan patrick is is gigantic four four. What this team can do moving forward and what this offense will be. The the quarterback play was very poor for this team last year. And and is is fun as it is to talk about ryan fitzpatrick in sing his praises. He's not the greatest quarterback in the world. In fact the last time that we had seen him you know we've we've seen him with a full season where the games. Once in the past eight years he is just a spot starter. He's been a backup but even with all that he is much better than what washington had to deal with all of last year. You get terry maclaurin. Who's one of the best young wide receivers and the game in my opinion the athleticism the actual skill at the wide receiver position and a player. Who is willing to force feed him. The ball a with ryan fitzpatrick a quarterback. Who's not afraid to let it rip before you know for sure that terry maclaurin is actually open. He's trusting in the player and he trusts in that he's gonna make the cut and end up wide open. He will take some chances. Yes it turns into turnovers but it also turns into a higher powered offense as a whole so. I guess the question then is ryan fitzpatrick. I think due to the history. You just outlaid and age right. I'll be thirty nine during the year being draft the quarterback twenty five in the fifteenth round. Right now but every single time that he's been given the opportunity to start in recent years tampa bay miami The jets we end up. You know two weeks into his..

"They know it to me is more about cd. Liam because see lambs being drafted very similar to saint spot amari cooper. And i just don't know how the amari cooper may be missing a game or two had you're saying you raise your if id lamb hopes. Because i would star michael gallup one hundred percent of weeks is not there. I i would agree. I guess my point is. Is i think by that time. We will know whether or not he is missing games. And i don't expect him to miss games if he doesn't miss games that i'm not that interested muscle saquon on the pup to start training camp. Cady area's tony on the reserve cove. Nineteen list I think we're all hopeful that there will be far less cova reserve news than we had last year where it was a mean. That was a wild ride for fantasy players. But this is. This is not great for canaries. Tony like miss some time which to be to be fair to the news. We don't know though we don't know if he was just exposed correct. We don't know if he is positive or not but if he's if he ends up. Missing training camp goes beyond ross time. I hear what you're saying. Don't hear what i'm not saying. Don't hear that took the tony. Mrs training camp that is devastating for his first half outlook. Very unlikely. I mean he was a player that we're not expecting big things out of rookie year anyway. So you're right. I mean he's not really in consideration rem andrei stevenson starting on the injury. non football injury list in early june. They had said he's fighting through some things. But if you are looking for clarity in that backfield. I'm going to be honest with you. Patriots running back patriots running back around stevenson. thank you fourth round. Pick i before even knowing this news. I made some trades. Tr- angling for damian harris ou in the recent weeks now. I didn't get him but i went after him with intention. Because i am starting to rise on i saw the consistency that will see from damian harris and you know his real threat would have been stevenson being there on day. One genre working himself into a timeshare but the odds of that were already low and then now with the injury i mean. This is aiming harris's backfield and honestly i mean if if you don't know who ray stevenson is. is a rookie prospect. Coming in who Has dealt with weight issues and in whether he's in shape or out of state makes a gigantic difference to you. Know what you see on the field the fact that he's on the nf. I list spire me to believe that he's gonna come into the season once he gets back in perfect top peak performed shape. So that's that's yeah. Speaks to what you're saying and then Just circling back to the kovic policies. For the nfl they did announce on thursday therefore game cannot be rescheduled due to a covert outbreak among unvaccinated players. The game will result in a forfeit for the team with the outbreak Yeah i mean. We always some rescheduling last year. So there is not going to be if that happens. You won't get a game back for that team and rice players. The this is. This is the nfl flexing on the players. Sending a message saying get it done the nfl. Pa came out after this. It's at just so you know these were the same rules last year Which i did not know that at at first but basically the then we know. The last year this this one is Specifically talking about unvaccinated players the but last year the rules of a game in scheduling and those in the money. Yeah yep otherwise that's all. I've got for news. That was today's news brought to you by sleeper as always sleeper. They've been adding some great soft lately. I ipad support something. They've been working on I i heard an idea. That's worth mentioning somebody. Somebody talked about you. Know they complain about people taking too much time in a draft and someone had the idea of doing chess style. Rules on drafting where you have a full. You have a set allotment of time. Oh how funny. And so while you're on the clock you're you're using up some time and then when you make your is that what that clock does you didn't know that i either in chaz never thought it was just like that's how you really flex on somebody like your and look at the amount of donald takes me to do my move. You get a set amount of time and time do you the whole game the whole game so if you were to go over your time in a game you would then lose. You didn't know that now did because i'm not a nerd. That just hurts neither. Have you guys watched the Oh did i watched queen's gambit. I did you comprehend that reality during the entire eight and never once said. I've always seen them hit the little timer. Yeah i just thought it was like this. Keeping track of how much time it takes a bus now to searching for bobby fischer reference. But what do you think about that idea for like you know everybody certain amount of time so if you wanna take it up i love that sleepers always willing to explore new things. I think that's a terrible idea because that just gives people much more time in the beginning like woj more time in those first few rounds to okay slowdown in five. Oh game. I don't know what that means. Google mike is back in a five. Oh game the white and black clock. Each gets five minutes meaning that the game could take up to ten minutes total. What do that's not. That's not a I have when i finish a chest. That's certainly not fast. That's not regular chess. Lord chess a slower game was five fifteen to thirty minutes. Yeah in a whole new world. Also mike needlessly dunks on all nerds from everything except for his own nerd. Dome also is. I have i. I'm a little out of it. I'm a. I'm trying to push through wild night of dungeons and dragons lifestyle. Not not a joke. But he's not a nerd like those also. Now you know why. There's no alarm all right so you can switch to sleeper. Put your league on there. It'd be great before we start. Nfc i don't wanna think today's sponsor code kademi Look.

As i was getting ready for the day because in the off season when we have three shows a week we record these the day before and when we move into the regular season schedule we record them very early in the morning and i realized that now My kids are going back to school at the exact same time that that starts in the whole like any summer lazy routine any any slow. Wake up in the morning. It's gone. yeah all right at once. I had the the realization whatever yesterday up back to the old alarm clock. Yeah i know we've been getting up so slowly in the morning. You don't use an alarm clock no do you anyhow. What's no the. The sun is my alarm clock. Me up he wakes me every moist alarm clock sleep forever. What's it set at. It said at seven right now what you need an alarm clock to wake up at set. That is correct interesting. Yeah we've mike and i are. We've been trained. From years. And years of i guess ab- sunrises and sunsets kids launch. Because at the the old job we weren't the boss he's never said That we do have big news to talk about on the show today. We're into the nfc. East divisional breakdown shows a lot of great feedback. Coming in about these episodes last Last week we did. Or i should say thursday. We did the. Nfc west had to talk about the camakers injury. No i make anti-dudayev bringing information to me and i just embedding it to make sure that it was right. Anything else that we need to talk about brooks anything. You've got on the agenda before we get into the news now. Let's talk news so michael. Thomas news notes from around the league presented by sleeper. Okay we woke up to it. And i get this is. This isn't the worst like this is not the camakers news. no great. But it's not that it's not camakers and there's a lot to talk about where the michael thomas expected. To miss the start of the season he underwent a surgery in june to repair ligaments in his ankle in june. Thanks saints beat writers. They kept that On the down. Low and the estimated time of recovery for this surgeries four months. And so he could be on the sideline for several weeks into the year of seeing everything up to a half a year. And i believe the three of us when we went into the ultimate draft in rankings. We made adjustments based on the present. Right now assumption. That he'll miss at least six weeks. Yeah he he feels like a perfect candidate for the pop list which means he automatically has to mitch. Miss those six games Not mitch them. No which is what the bears quarterback last year. Yeah well nobody beats mitch Trae quant smith marquez. Calloway dante harris. Welcome to your wide receiver room No more emmanuel sanders. No more jared cook who you know whatever you wanna say about how. His skills are progressing. He had experience at the nfl level. So right now. Don't know the quarterback you don't really know i mean trey quit. Smith has the most experienced by far of that group but has been inconsistent. We're looking at emmanuel sanders. Contributions last year with michael thomas missing time. He was over seven hundred yards receiving. So how do you look at this offense now in you know adam. Trautmann's their alvin kamera's there. Yeah i mean those two guys get clear bump adam trautmann. Mike is super excited because he was he was one of the first to the party on the atom. Trautmann train and this this ends up obviously giving him an opportunity for more targets. You know we've seen a lot of times win. A tied in becomes fantasy. Relevant is because they are just necessary. It's it's not like they're super talented. Now you're mixing the hopeful talent. We have not seen. It relies on the nfl field but he was drafted with talent in mind to be a good pass catching tight end at the nfl. Llamas drafted tight end. He wasn't a a day three pick. That is like well. Let's see if this guy makes the team right and you mix that with the necessary opportunity so that that that gets a little exciting for those. Are you know in that camp. The wide receiving core is as it stands. Now without michael. Thomas might be the worst in the league It's it's one where you expect new orleans to there. There are no free agent. Wide receiver veterans out. There just waiting to be scooped up of any note They're all larry jerrell. Right.

I have detach myself from cnn. Since saturday or sunday. I finally let go. I feel like. I've made of made some friends there though. I'll probably be checking in on them every now and again. Over the next four years. I think i really did admire their coverage and forecasting and it really did make me feel a lot more informed about the election than i've ever been had been before so yes i feel like i owe them some sort of commitment in the future but just it's been quite nice for the last twenty four hours to have let go because literally it on the entire time and it was fortunate because it meant i did see the moment that they called it. I think they were the first ones. And i know a lot of people that had it on for four straight days and then kind of miss the actual moment. My sister was complaining about that. But i i did have it on in the background. I fell asleep with cnn. On phychi consecutive nights and i dreamt about john king on both of those nights so that is the twilight zone vortex that while i was just sort of in the room with him while he was doing while he was doing his touchscreen analysis just sort of there and and part of it which was great great. I hope john king that you. You're having a lovely long sleep if you're listening which i'm sure you're very alicia. We've listened enough to him. Yes exactly it would only be polite now. Well let what's happening. There was also tennis unfolding in paris tournament. Won by in three sets yesterday in the final over alexander zverev. Rough on adult did not enter. Qualifying in severe novak djokovic is the confirmed year end number one for six time but unfortunately we we have to start off with something that is sort of a bigger more significant story than than all of that and a very very unpleasant one we. We've covered it Briefly appear until now in our previous podcasts and as we said i think on thursday we were expecting this big interview done by ben rothenberg as it turns out in bracket magazine one of the publications that he contributes to not the new york times as we were expected but in in rocket magazine. A a big interview and account from olea sharapova. The former girlfriend of parents finalist alexander zverev who has made allegations of physical and emotional abuse against alexander zverev. The this was a very very indepth account that she gave ben rothenberg in racket magazine. They spent two hours together at a family. Friend's house in new jersey family friend of Of sharp over. I would urge you to read the piece so that you can hear her story feel self and make up your minds about how you feel about it but it certainly incredibly harrowing and saddening account. It's very very difficult to read. She details Allegations of abuse taking place at the twenty nineteen. Us open at the labor cup in one thousand nine hundred and live in a number of incidents she alleges at serves home in monaco. Over the course of that year. She doesn't go into detail about the end of their relationship. She said that's something she may or may not tell a delay date but she talks about having her head hit against the wall about being smothered with a pillow. She talks about taking making an attempt on her own life during this period. It's an incredibly distressing account. And it's one that has been put to alexander zverev over the course of the week in paris. He obviously released that instagram statement. A week ago at the time. That sharapova initially made the allegations on her instagram we. We read out verbs statements at the time but since this more detailed account from sharapova came out of his been been given the opportunity to to comment further on off his first round win over michigan. As a young teacher in high school or junior high school or elementary school says, okay I'm done with this. I'M GONNA. Go to chiropractic school. How did you find that path? It sounds crazy I I really believe God led my path the was orchestrating it. I didn't know at the time but I was Going back to slippery rock, they did a phenomenal job teaching. Know that that point in time in the late seventies early eighties a high school student. Rugby. Probably. Wasn't that comet I mean it's still common but I know there's a few teams in the Pittsburgh area. I. Never heard of it. I. Played Sports was a little kid by love football baseball and then going to slippery rock I didn't play their played intramural stuff and they talked about the rugby team I thought that's crazy. I am not playing rugby. You guys are saying when I moved to Florida my roommate. On the rugby team and I was playing softball for local church and I was the crazy I was diving into at second base diving for every ball. I'd leap filthy broken and this is a church league and they're looking me saying why you're doing this. If you'RE GONNA play all up. So my roommate talked me into visiting watching a game. So I went watch the game thinking that this is going to be brutally insane I. Loved it. I thought this is this is just what I want for pair spikes on a mouthpiece. The next Tuesday I was at practice and that was back in nineteen, eighty, eight of fifty. Four and I've been playing almost consistently several years off and on with the team Kinda folded up in that. Yeah. Fifty four still going strong. It's like celery shot shut me with some some rugby blood in my system and I can't get it up. My wife thinks I'm crazy but I think she's given up on trying to talk me out with this one.

What Moon Landing?
"In the nineteen sixties, two things were happening more things are happening to. One it just two things. disclaimer were bottle of wine in the first one is the Cold War, which was basically between the US and the US are that started after the end of World War Two and nineteen, forty eight and lasted until nineteen ninety-one notice how I know when World War Two was. Throwing shade at the orange. I've had wine I'm a little snarky year. Then I'm not upset the way. The second thing was happening was the Vietnam War, which lasted between nineteen, fifty, five, and nineteen, seventy five. I did not think that was when on. Okay. But seriously I didn't realize the lasted that long either I thought it started like late late. Late mid to late sixties and went into the seventies. Yeah. Holy moly history is important because not only does it give us context as to why things happens, but it also serves as a blueprint showing what not to do if anyone literally anyone decided to pay attention in history class but whatever Got I. Him. So I'm fine. So in the nineteen sixties, the US was dealing with two things one they're trying to get the upper hand in and the other they're trying to distract the public from. Does that make sense had wine? Yes. Okay. Basically, it was a perfect time for the US government to distract everybody Hooker Luna verse. Where you're mass please. And this is why they decided to fake the moon landing. Where's the wind. please. Oh happy day. This explain why it started drinking. I'm so happy right now just help it off girl you're in need it I wanna make sure Rebecca some two but no, I don't just doing with to me this is a subject but I chose up my own free will thank you so much. This is going to be amazing. Okay. But why why would we do this? The US was currently racing the USSR to be the first to the moon and the fastest way to do that would be to fake it's. Kinda like when you're never mind. There it is. Oh, we made it two minutes. That's where we learned it from. The Moon and Do to the bad press the Vietnam War Gotten General the moon landing would serve as the. Distraction at the time luckily in this day and age that only have hundreds of people been able to see through the thin veil that is as opposed moon landing but have also been able to poke holes and this historical events. Can we make sure that you know take this is poured slash s please. You can't tell that from my voice I can I only sound this way when it's bullying? Sixties radio. Broadcaster Boys. Here for all of it. So now we're going to dive into reasons why are evidence as to why the moon landing did not happen? Okay. GimMe all of it I is there's no wind on the moon correct in the flag was waving. Yep that's pretty much where we're going. Imagine this iconic scene, the year is nineteen sixty nine. Neil. Armstrong. Neil. Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin are on the face of this lunar body preparing especially made us flag plant on the moon as they're securing the flag in a never ending show of colonization Oh my God something curious happens the flag starts waving in the winds, which is weird because there is no wind on the moon. The Moon essentially does not have an atmosphere meaning. There is nothing to cause old glory to way proudly in a patriotic breeze. That's
How to regain calm when anxiety hijacks your brain
"Today, we're speaking about how you can regain calm when anxiety hijacks your brain something that were both very much aware of. High Anger. I Hsien. Good. Thank you. It's good to be back with you after taking some time off this summer that we both needed and I'm grateful for the time and also very grateful to be back together with you talking about something. That could there be anything more important than learning how to regain. Calm. When anxiety hijacks your brain this is excellent subject. So thank you for putting our notes together today I really appreciate it. So glad we're talking about this. I think it's really An important topic something that's been on my mind of the last couple of weeks as I've been listening to and responding. To Client Sund, noting some conversations and concerns and our group and just in from around me at this really unusual time. So many challenges many the same and many different depending on individual circumstances them. I'm hearing and seeing a lot of elevated anxiety and. A lot of cases of anxiety really just barging in and taking over the mind and saw would be helpful to have this conversation today. Let's start with how anxiety flares up and then take it through what happens and how our body responds. How it starts is that anxiety frequently hijacks are thinking with a fearful narrative. So, for example, there might be some what if thoughts for worst case scenarios? Ashrafi. Thinking that happens in a heartbeat really flares up in our mind and causes acute distress. and. The body then responses if those fearful thoughts true because it doesn't know the difference between a real th Brat a real thing that's happening all what's running through your mind with thinking. What. If this is true what if that's GonNa happen the body response as if it's true Ziff, it's real. and. Then when the body reacts in that way, it froze up sensations that go back to the mind. The mind notices thumb on becomes modest up and so we get caught in this fierce ikbal but feels so frightening and completely. Takes over our body and mind. So that's why we're calling him. I- jacking it really is an intrusion something that burst into the line imposes. Right, fair right anxiety quite suddenly. An off. Feels like it came out of nowhere. Yeah. That's been my experience. I'll be hopping along just fine having A. Perfectly lovely day and then and then a symptom or sensation will come up and and occasionally like grabbing a tiger by the tail boom there it is when we don't. Have these conversations and we don't Explore how it worked and really break it down in the hookah about what you can do about it. It's that thing where it feels like I was having a completely happy day and this am of the blow that's what really causes major disturbance. When we can look at the recipe for it and make changes to that and pick it apart of it gives us more. Of the situation because anxiety seldom comes out, the blue is seldom comes from nowhere. What normally happens is it begins with a trigger, a symptom or sensation. It might be a message, a news item to something that that sets our mind off something that strikes a vulnerable place or a concern or a memory in us, and the mind zooms in on it instantly, and then it would create an anxious narrative which really comes from Ikea vigilance that's running in the background already, and the mind will make a story around that rigor that makes it instantly more solid, believable or potential threat, and then as soon as the mind creates the story. which can happen instant the body reacts. Our heartbeats faster are breathing become shallow. We might feel lightheaded or shaky. And these sensations in the body fee back into her mind and further disturbed the mind. An increasing society and this repeats and builds into a fear cycle a fear loop that feels so incredibly real and is often very hard to bear until we know how to stop it and gratefully, we can stop it. Yeah that time it goes I think many people listening will be familiar with that. Experience. So what we really wanted to do, today's bring some hope and some strategy to the situation, a mind and balanced respond calmly to incoming information. But a mind that's already challenged by anxiety will react rather than respond site just fires off and you don't have that boost. Assault or that goes. Bo-. Thinking about things making choices, challenging it challenging what's come up an anxious mind would just though with A. and. It lacks resilience to process the incoming information and to respond in a self-supporting way. The good news is you can change this. We can all change this. We can learn the break the fair cycle and have a completely different experience to something body or on the news or somewhere, and then we just off. is almost like you're tumbling downhill like your woman it. You're on top of the mounting and the next you've lost your Fulton and you're in freefall as bills but. We work with we can change it.
Tropical Storm Isaias Likely to Form in Atlantic; Warnings Issued for Puerto Rico, Us Virgin Islands
"Hey, Natalie a there, Brian. So I was just going to talk about what you call Izzy. Izzy? Yes. It would be Tropical Storm Isaiah or Isaiah's. I'm not sure how they're going to end up pronouncing it right now. It is just a disturbance number nine that we're dealing with so far into our hurricane season. It is out in the open waters of the Atlantic. This one, though, like all storms were definitely eyeing. It is expected to reach the Leeward Islands. Within the next day to two days, The National Hurricane Center has initiated ADVISORIES. There are tropical storm warnings out for Puerto Rico and the U. S Virgin Islands right now, if you take a look at the the forecast By sometime in the late weekend, it could impact South Florida or some portion of the state. However, once it becomes a tropical storm And it reaches at least the first barrier of lands out in the in the Caribbean. It all determines what the future will be of this set. Storm idea, or Isaias? So why is he is he all right? Is he busy? Right into your points Got taken to the hurricane Center forecast? If you're you know, thinking, Okay, Well, what would this mean to me? They're the good news. Bad news in this forecast. The good news is they're not projecting it as of now. To strengthen into a hurricane and any point s O Happy day. They're the not so good news that they would have us being prepared for a tropical storm this weekend, so that is the view of the current possible from the
Warner Music Group prices IPO at $25 a share to raise $1.925 billion
"That time now for our stock of the hour it is Warner Music Group which went public earlier today it's been held off for a day or so it's gone public and then the price is actually gone up since it started trading we are joined now by kill whites to take us through the Warner story yeah David started trading just over half an hour ago right now the stock up the better part of six percent trading around twenty eight sixty one a share that's after it priced at twenty five dollars this morning the midpoint of the marketing range raised about it one billion one point nine three billion excuse me in the listing which which I should point out I was actually up size seventy seven million shares up from just seventy million makes it one of the biggest offerings we've seen so far in twenty twenty and values the company at nearly thirteen billion dollars of course even as you alluded to this was delayed from yesterday to observe the music industry's blackout Tuesday to support the protest against police brutality in fact it was really delayed about three months because of the pandemic so the fact that the company now has come public we're seeing it being taken pretty well by the public markets sends a pretty positive signal about potentially renewed strength of the U. S. offerings after we saw those really put on pause for a while because of this pandemic David yeah exactly I wonder whether it says more about the history of the equity market which is really on its way back with that says more about the state of the music market is the music market sort of stay at home kind of business well it's a little bit of both isn't right we've seen obviously increased demand for risk on the part of investors and it's not just a big week for Warner music we're about to see six point four billion dollars in IPOs total this week some definitely revival of companies coming to the public markets but on your point about the music industry of course is really is a lot about streaming Warner music especially is very catered towards streaming about seventy percent of its revenue comes from digital sales Spotify apple for example account for about twenty seven percent of revenue be looking at the last fiscal year in fact that is everybody is home bound we can't go out to concerts etcetera to get entertainment lately is giving an added boost to Warner music here yeah let's be honest Kaylee I've downloaded more music club and stuck at home that you have to do so maybe it's Happy Days are here again for the music business which let's be honest has really gone up and down down initially string was not too good for it yeah absolutely there's been a lot of back and forth for certain and not only is this good for the music business I would point out to you that the man who really is making all the money from this IPO land blah blah Finnick excuse me I'm totally butchering that name you do a far better job job but he actually is getting eighty five percent of economic interest in this ninety nine percent of the voting right is basically all of the proceeds from this IPO are not going to Warner music they're going to

How the Democratic nominating battle could end in a messy 'brokered convention'
"Saturday the times is interviewed ninety three party officials all of them super delegates who could have a say on the nomination of the convention and found overwhelming opposition to handing the Vermont senator the nomination if he arrived with the most delegates but fell short of a majority wow such a situation may result in a brokered convention a messy political battle the likes of which Democrats have not seen since nineteen fifty two when the nominee was Adlai Stevenson and then the Happy Days episode you when I talk right like Stevenson and running against I like I like I like my bike like I like Ike but there there you go and I think it was only nine of the ninety three that that supported Sanders yeah so you're talking you know close to ninety percent of the super delegates St I'm sorry right we we would not go with
"I'm Saying Goodbye": Maria Sharapova Retires From Tennis at Age 32
"Don't know if you share my sentiments. This was news. That is not remotely surprising. We were all expecting this. I think Most people had already pre filed. The Maria Sharapova retires column and yet I gotTa say it feels you know an hour into this but Feels a little weird definitely I. This is not like Last time we had big Sharipova News at SL which was of course it. Two Thousand Sixteen and that that was a big surprise. This like you said I think we all saw it coming. It was a matter of when and not if so for to be now is I think a pretty normal timing given whether she's going to play Indian Wells and Miami probably would have kick started her into the French and Wimbledon and then sort of. You're playing out the year at that point so for her to call it quits after all. Cheyenne this little gaps. Seems to make sense but I don't know what do you think? Yeah ranked ranked three seventy three. Something had to give here. This is a five time major champion. Who you did not think was going to play the wild card game for very long. I I guess I would perhaps suspected she would have played Indian Wells. It's an event where she's had success. It's two hours from her home in southern California she would have gotten a grand sendoff But you know this. This is I had these two competing instincts with Sharipova. What what do we know about her? She is fiercely. Driven fiercely competitive. She is and always has been. I think we can talk about this a bit later. The consummate professional and those are really dueling instincts when you're ranked three seventy three and not playing it anywhere near the level that you're accustomed to Part of you probably says I can fight through this. This is just more adversity. I can overcome. I'm better than this. I just need to work harder. I can get my body right. I can get my mind right. I can get back. I don't WanNa go out like this and another part of you says surely I can't have this indignity. I can't be losing round after round early. I'm not seated so I'm playing tough opponents. My Body's giving up on me so I think you had and they came from the same place but they're two very different ways to react to to the same core instinct and today she said enough is enough. I mean I think you're right that You know February is a strange month in tennis. And I guess you know we're we`re. There's no perfect way to retire from the sport and we see even within tennis players very differently. Some players go on this goodwill tour and some players like Caroline Wozniacki says look. I'm going to pinpoint this as my last event and go ahead and prepare your tribute reels. And I'm GonNa play this event knowing when I lose my last match. That's IT and Sharipova. We've seen other players. There's players do this as well. Sharapova pulled us out of the blue and it's it's a Wednesday and she's not at a tournament today And retired in her own way. So I don't know I mean the other. There are a number of questions that stem from this whole conversation and jump in any jump in anytime here. I mean I think the overall question when a player retires as we assess legacy I don't know particular bullet points. Jump out at you Jamie. I think I think highs and lows complicated legacy Of course is going to be attached to share over The the craziest thing I think if you look at the timing now she's ranked three hundred seventy three which says absolutely nothing about her career but to your point. I mean she was at the point now where she was trying to come back and she's nowhere even near the top one hundred You know not even winning any matches and it's it must be really hard for her honestly to you know given all that she's accomplished. I think we said thirty six. W titles obviously the five Grand Slams all these rivalries quote unquote particularly with Serena Williams which is also another interesting conversation to have but I think it was probably getting difficult for her to continue to be you know struggling and Her her legacy given you know the the MELDA NEOM and the ban will always thou always be part of her story? Yeah I think you're absolutely right and today should be happy day. Celebrate a five time major champion. I mean I was looking at her staff and I think we forget how good she was for for a variety of reasons. I think to the casual tennis fan. They were misled by two. One is the head to head with Serena that you reference. She beat Serena Breakthrough Center women. Final Two thousand four and then she loses whatever. The math twenty two is the derived. So lose eighteen nineteen matches to Serena Williams And I think that to the casual fan that we say rivalry. And then we sort of have to amend that to say with a lopsided rivalry which might be an oxymoron. The other thing about Sharipova that I and I wrote about this that I think is a great Sort of misleading bid about her is she had this regal disposition and she endorsed product after product. And it was very upscale. And it's Evian Cole Haan I remember you. I remember walking in New York and seeing her on three different billboards for three different upscale products. And there was this or of elegance. She was selling herself as much as she was a brand. She was selling sort of cosmopolitan posh elegance in yet. The tennis was. I was called her sort of tennis. Gym Rat I mean. It was not elegant tenants by any stretch and Jud admit to that and she was in her own way your own six foot one inch which she was a grinder and she was not what you call an athlete. He wasn't a graceful mover. She did not play graceful elegant tennis and I always thought that was really to her credit. That you'd see her on the back court and she'd be doing her footwork drills because she knew that was an area to improve and she would be working on her serve which always gave her fit in part because of the shoulder injury and she would grind out matches and she would win tough matches. She did not. This was not the female Roger Federer and I think tennis fans of course know that but I think casual fans see all of this aura of elegance and assume she played that way and that wasn't the case at all I mean the the screaming grunting grinding sweating. You'll brushing the hair that had managed to her forehead. That's the Maria Sharapova on the tennis court has an athlete And I think you know again I want to just this should be a day to give credit to someone who had a tremendous career and five majors. Yes but thirty six titles almost forty million dollars you got to number one. I mean this is really an a-list career and you know she had the misfortune of playing. At the same time Serena Williams and there was a lot that went into that relationship beyond the tennis. That probably did not work to Maria benefit but you take away. Cerita you take away. Venus Williams seven majors. Maybe Justine Henin. Maybe Kim Clijsters and I think it's very easy to make the case. Marisha published one of the top five players of the Post Steffi Graf of the last twenty five years and tennis so this is really a remarkable career. And yet as you mentioned if we're going to talk about her honestly. This wasn't the way it was supposed to end. Which is you know a a doping ban. I thought a very clumsy handling of the doping ban. I thought it was very out of character and off brand of her to have been so sloppy. Not just in the violation but then in the aftermath and how it was handled and some of the the the the press conference that we referenced and she was never the same player after that and you know co correlation is not causation and may simply have been that. She was a little sport and she was in early thirties and players get older. We see this on not just in tennis but in in sports in general I mean thirty two big number in in women's tennis but it was not supposed to end with a doping band and a ranking that drifted deep into triple figures so overall macro great career hall of fame player but there is a tinge I think of bittersweet. There is a little bit of disappointment. That This wasn't the way this hall of fame career was supposed to be a gift. Compare what we saw a month ago when Caroline wozniacki is out there on the court and our families there and she's toasted and all of the players are making tribute videos and were. She's crying but she's saying I'm not sad and she does. I mean I talked to her the following day. She was all gussied up because she clearly had been doing the spots around. There's definitely a difference of a decision on your terms and decision that was made based on your body and The time of your career. You know it's it's very different in comparing into. What was the Yankee especially given those? The Yankees recent title in Australia just seemed very full circle for her to do that. this again is random but also very expected. I think one of the things I always sort of liked about Sharipova was Her personality in in two ways. I think we talk. You talk about her on the court sweating grinding shrieking. I mean everyone. I think even if you're not a big tennis fan you know share Provo. Because maybe she made you mute the TV while you're watching a match and that's something that a lot of people will probably joke about but you know she worked hard in the court she was always like fierce and and you know a competitor for sure but she also you know. I remember processors and and interviews where she's actually has a very great personality and and you know quite opposite of that fierce competitor where she could be funny and she was actually Kinda Witty and and You know there was a a side to her personality. That was very likable. When most people on the court probably saw the opposite so overall she's a huge name. In this sport she's one of the handful that transcends just tennis you you mentioned her and she needs only one name There's only a handful of those type of athletes so I think She will definitely be missed. I think we're fair to
