Many news had 25 and 55 years Andrew O'Day. This is a Bloomberg money minute. Throughout U.S. history, innovations and how people and products are transported have been key drivers of economic growth. 19th century, it was railroads, in the 20th, autos and airplanes. "Involved in the city's business. The House of Representatives recently voted to not let the city move ahead on its revised criminal code. It is now in the hands of the Senate, bob Cusack, editor in chief of the hill this morning telling WTO P, he does not think the Senate measure will succeed, but he says there may be longer term problems here for the district. 31 Democrats voted with Republicans to overturn the D.C. criminal code, which would change some mandatory minimum sentences and penalties and increase the right for a jury. But it's not going to go anywhere in the Senate. It's democratic held in the Senate, and even if Republicans did have a slight majority, they wouldn't have the numbers to get the votes and overcome a filibuster. So this is something though to watch because in future years, this is a top priority for Republicans and they could go after D.C. laws again, but they're only going to make changes if they have control of The White House and the Senate and House. The revised criminal code would go into effect in October of 2025. D.C. is getting ready to launch a program where residents can get their compost picked up along the curb. DCS reports this week, this pilot program will start sometime this summer, though no formal date has been given yet The demand for such a program is apparently pretty high in the region. Last year, 128,000 people took advantage of the ten drop off sites around D.C., composting about we're told 450 tons of material and all. Montgomery and prince George's counties in Maryland along with Arlington county in Virginia have similar programs in place right now. "The grandmother firmly believed it. And cannibalism is happening. My grandpa would be building shit out in the are you still watching that goddamn wrestling? Can we be in there? My grandpa would want me to go outside and I'd be like, dude, man. This is some real shit. You understand. People are really fighting. Yeah, no, it's weird. Because the first time I also had on record was also audio dramas because Star Wars did four or 5 between Empire Strikes Back in return of the Jedi. There was an audiobook you could get that was when Guido and hansel the first met. And I remember prior to Star Wars. And I remember listening to that multiple times and then listened to between and then listening to the soundtrack for jaws all the time. I don't know why we had that, but we had a lot of soundtracks. They did a lot of motion picture soundtracks for reckoning. My parents got me the equivalent stuff of the Star Wars books and then the tape that you put in the tape player and it'd go and then like every so often it would have a sound that tells you to turn the page. Yeah, to turn the page. So yeah, I had a lot of that. What was that even called? What was that? I could hear it. I could see it in my head, but I can't think of the brand, but it was like a, yeah, well, for the Star Wars ones, it was R two D two. You turn the page. Yeah, to turn into page. That kind of stuff. Anybody listening? Man, I'm sorry. Fun fact, I'm old. I grew up in the 80s, back when wrestling was real. Son, he still got hurt. That is absolutely true. That'll be it for us. Thank you, everybody. I'll try to timestamp this with like music interlude and just put I believe it was about two hours to two hours and 52 minutes. Thanks to everybody who's listening. We appreciate it. "So you have that on Friday night with your best picture who leads the who led the AL and FIP by the way coming into this one. You'll let that happen. Cy Young candidate. Sorry young candidate. And then you spoil a Nick pavetta Jim. He goes 5 and a third gives up one on 90 pitches. He had no business doing that, but if any team's gonna let him do that, but it's the New York Yankees. He did it. Yeah, he did it. Then Tanner, how can Darwin's in Hernandez? Whatever happened there happened there. And then on Sunday Night, again, tailor made. Eduardo Rodriguez, who's owned the Yankees this year, I still don't understand why it goes 5 innings allows to strikes out 8. Two or three of which should not have been strikeouts, but he got him. Struck out 8 batteries. You got the start you needed from a guy who has no business. He's a 5 ERA coming into this one four 9 70 RA coming into this one. Has no business pitching like this against the Yankees? Does it again anyway for the fourth time this year? Because one of his other outings was only an inning long. So you get exactly what you need. You'll let Jordan Montgomery battle you down down as hard as he possibly can in the Yankees have a fairly well rested bullpen. So like, you had the chances to get after Montgomery. He was giving up hard contact in the fourth and the 5th. And then Garrett Richards, is that the guy who's coming in, you know? I just don't know. I haven't watched enough Red Sox this year, but again, this is what I allude to about everything else. Just take advantage of the bullpen. This is not a good bullpen. I understand Alex core has pressed a lot of buttons and it's put guys in the right situations, but overall the talent's not there. The roles are largely not there. We saw hansel robles in the series, Garrett Richards, adamant of vino, Ryan brazier, Darwin's international Tanner hauck, like Matt Barnes, Martin Perez, Ryan brazier was good. Yeah, Ryan brazier was good, but at that point, it didn't matter. He recalls we saw a Mora like a lot of I don't know. I can't be all really critical because I don't watch enough of the Red Sox, but that seems like questionable use to me. Sal Moore is a pretty good arm. Matt Barnes is certainly better than these other guys. Why do they come in in the first inning? We saw him for one more came in for two and a third, and that was it in the first game. And then Matt Barnes comes in for one and then you have a three two lead on Sunday in order to salvage this entire thing and then you go to Garrett Richards and Adam out of vino. I just don't, I mean, arvin's ERA went over a four after that. But Garret Richards, I know he's been better in the bullpen, but he's still not that good of a pitcher. And Adam Avino against his former team, I know like you can only test your luck trying to play trying to mine fuck your opponent. I think Alex gore should know that at this point, he won the first mind fuck, then he goes for the second one trying to bring out a vino out there to punk the Yankees again. You know that's not gonna happen again. He already did it how many times did he do it earlier and they're using like two or three September out of vino is just a different guy..

And if you just kinda hold up in his house for two years because he was a repeat sex offender who needed to be off the streets correct right no wasn't no No and the most egregious one that i read about was this new up and coming singer that he supposedly blackballed because she wouldn't sleep with him anymore. You know they had a consensual relationship and then it broke off and then she claimed that he is kind of submarine her career. Nothing could be further from the truth. He did everything you could possibly do for her. And she's a star now and in fact followed all the contractual agreements that they had. He did everything he said he was gonna do. Yeah wait okay. We'll then but well at one point he may have said. I don't wanna do that right. Maybe i don't know but that's my point. I yeah okay. I said I mean my. I remember my my my kids comp- they complain when they're taking out the trash i don't care. Just take out the trash you can tell me. I don't wanna do this. Take dress as you're taking out the trash. I got no problem with complain all you want. My parents actually had a problem with that. I really like that and you could see how you see. How jeffey exactly right. "The cost of producing electricity from natural gas is now just about the cheapest of any source the only thing that's really cheaper by any Significant amount is hydropower which mostly comes from canada and from The nagara river and that area in upstate new york is you're gonna get power from the supply of power in new york is actually very complex. we get power from connecticut Through cable that most people don't know about that runs under long island sound we get power from upstate. New york From hydropower plants actually six nuclear power plants in new york state Other than indian point. They're they're mostly upstate. They're building a cable. The most people don't know about either From all the way from canada from montreal down under lake champlain. And under the hudson river and that one cable will carry enough power to replace this Final reactor that's being shut down at indian point however cable won't be ready for several more years if it is actually approved in the meantime New york state's most likely way to replace the power lost by the shutdown. We'll be to crank up the existing natural gas generating stations to replace that Electricity and also to increase its imports from other states. So i don't think the lights are going to go out but It's very likely the cost will go up. In other words. Your electric bill will go up because when when a when a utility goes out to the multi state market for additional power. It's an auction and on a hot summer day when everybody's bidding for power. The price can go very very high. So it's typical politicians. Don't care about our prices going up. Big just do whatever is convenient for them. I mean that's annoying. And what happens when the so when the cable comes in and if it's working then the prices rate nobody lowest prices. The prices are not going again. Well not only will the price not go down but Government is going to spend literally billions and billions of dollars On projects won't be ready for ten years or more For example this This new new york state green new deal is planning to build something like ninety windmills wind turbines offshore long island off jones beach off montauk point and then they're going to build undersea cables some as long as two hundred miles underwater to bring power from those offshore wind turbines to story which is sort of the power center for new york city..

"hansel" Discussed on Behind The Numbers

"And welcome back to behind the numbers. Today we're talking about real estate. Investing with david hansell who is managing partner at lucerne capital partners. A lot of good stuff covered in the first segment. Don't wanna waste any time here. I'm going to jump right back in david. We alluded to the idea about raising capital to fund these investments in the first segment. Now's a good time to talk about. What exactly you're doing and how you go about raising that capital. Sure so. I don't want to save as easy for us. I talked about alpha before we built that company off the heels of retail investors that are long term investors of ours and naturally when we went in and started to invest in real estate which provides better tax advantage to them as far as the income returns alive and followed in atlanta's to grow rather quickly and build a very strong track record but We we typically we typically look at Deals in two ways. We would either phone in what's referred to his syndicate the apple where we come anime fire an asset in the go out and raise for that we put up typically five ten percent of the equity side by side with our investors And then they will join us in the investment on they we get their pro rattus be income in the tax write offs and the appreciation and then we recently logged to not tober a fun vehicle which is kind of like a mutual fund for multifamily value add investing Did that for a couple of reasons. One in allowed us with the type of filing at we go out and open new doors new relationships for capital to meet new investors that one have interest in exposure to real estate and learn more about that. So we're actually in the process of raising capital on this new fund that we targeted twenty five million dollar raise in. Were a little more than every there had scheduled. Those investors participate on like said a pooled of dea bowl where they're getting exposure to multiple multifamily acids and other multiple geographic areas so really focuses on strong asset protection and the look to achieve on these types of assets loaded team annual lies returns of really effectively like an irr but there's ongoing cash flow that comes to these investors so it's a nice. It's a nice mix of both ongoing income asset appreciation in tax benefits very very investor portal that we community share tells about out of the performance of the assets refunds. And while this is certainly not without risk In a low interest rate environment to get that kind of return certainly has to be attractive. So good stuff. So for the folks who may want to be Interested in learning more about how they can invest with you in that vehicle. How can they do that. Sure so same as before getting in touch on you could shoot an email to info at lucerne. Capital dot com. That's l. u. c. e. r. n. Capital chp al dot com or. You can go to turn capital dot com and we have a chat bot that. There's you know if you're interested to learn more about future. Investments makes it very simple so david. Let's talk a little bit about the impact of the global pandemic on your business w- what's changed as a result of the pandemic. And where do you see your industry going forward as we emerge from the pandemic. Sure while if i could really give you the exact property say probably be retired at a network here but Got a crystal ball right little joke jokers low but you some things coming into this pandemic. There was a housing shortage. That certainly has not changed some of the problems for the real estate industry. As a whole which many of you can imagine you're well aware of is occupancy now. Multifamily is the lowest risk at all real estate assets. If you think about your office space in retail. there is a lot of vacancies. There is people still need a place to live. You know there are issues with reds and things of that nature the aspects of a focus on or more middle income of media. Come people that are looking to live in apartments and not ownership so say we're immune to it but we've been able to keep Our occupancy levels vary hi we are seeing in the philadelphia market specifically That the leasing velocity the at the rate at which new units at least as slow download. The warm weather in the vaccine as through will see that open up again but know. There's the underlying concern that that you know. There's a large outbreak again. Shutdowns happening even in the face of the vaccine With can generally challenge the market is all people will need a place to live and that kind of is what happened. The other pieces that there's a lot of migration out of the northeast down to the southeast and not too dissimilar like people from california moving to texas in arizona on the north on the east coast or a lot of people out of new york. Moving down to the carolinas. Were very active florida. Luckily philadelphia's.

COVID-19 Vaccine Embraced By Black And Latinx Americans

"A growing number of black people in the united states. Now say they do intend to get vaccinated against covid nineteen. That is a change. From a few months ago when public health officials were concerned but what they called vaccine hesitancy in those groups of people. And that's right. Scott and here's npr's science correspondent. John hamilton to talk to us more about that. Hi john hi so give us a sense of how much things have changed was sure back in december surveys. We're showing that black and hispanic. Americans were far less likely than white. Americans say they plan to get a vaccine. It's at some points. That gap was more than ten percentage points but more reason surveys including one done in the past week just that gap is closing and may have even disappeared. What were the reasons. Some members of these groups gave about their hesitation will. There were a lot of concerns about the safety of the covid nineteen vaccines. Some people worried that they'd been developed to quickly might not have been tested properly. Then there were these vaccine myths and even this information campaigns and they're spreading false ideas like getting vaccinated could affect a person's fertility or change their dna. And of course those things are true. But they're still out there. So why have those fears subsided. One reason is information. Campaigns government sources including the centers for disease control and prevention have been providing detailed information about precisely how the vaccines were tested. And how they work. Another thing is personal. Experience more than forty people in the us are now fully vaccinated so pretty much. Everyone knows someone who got the shot and is still okay. And then there have been a lot of prominent leaders in the black and latinx ex communities who are very publicly supporting vaccination. I spoke with one of them a couple of days ago. He's a doctor at the university of miami named hansel took. And here's what dr took told me. I received my covid vaccine on. Tv on the first day that it was being offered here in miami and there are many people that i know who have received the vaccine. Because they know that. I did the research and i would not recommend anything from them that i wouldn't recommend for myself or my family. Does it look like a vaccination rates among black and latino americans will eventually catch up with those of white and asian americans. It's important of course. Because of black. And latino americans have been so hard hit by this pandemic yeah i. It's not so clear. The problem is that vaccine. Hesitancy is really just one barrier to getting immunized and another big one is access. You know so far. Vaccination sites are likely to be found in areas that are more affluent less diverse in some parts of the country. It is still hard to get vaccine information in spanish. And then there's the challenge getting time off from work to get a vaccine something that can be really tough if you only get paid when you were actually on the job. Doctor took told me about yet. Another berry internet access. He said you know not. Having internet access became a problem when we all we had was testing and you had to go online to make an appointment. Here's what he said that was multiplied when we moved to using telehealth so people who didn't have access to broadband which does not even exist in many of our historically black communities in miami. They were not able to access their physicians for a year. And now of course. Many vaccinations states require you to go online to make a reservation so that seems to be changing say but there is still a long ways to go.

Seniors Urged To Act Now as Access To Vaccine Booms in Florida

"More than 750 pharmacies in Florida, including Wal Marts, Publix and Winn Dixie's are now offering covert 19 shocks and with access to the vaccine improving. Some top medical officials are urging seniors to act now, even though the numbers of confirmed cases are starting to come down. Jackson Health System CEO Carlos Montoya warns. We may not be over the hump yet. We're all concerned that we could potentially have another search down the line. Jackson has already vaccinated 73,000 people, many already receiving their second dose during a zoom town hall. Dr Hansel took says he can't understand why some aren't coming back because it's literally the most important thing you can do for humanity at this time. "We get to go see her? Well, you guys, you're asking me the question that every single patient is asking every patient encounter. We sit down. We go over their concern. And then they'll say, Hey, When can I go back to normal when his life going to come back, and I jokingly telling me you're looking? You want me to look into my crystal ball predict the future and guess what? My crystal ball is probably about as powerful as your crystal ball. So in other words, so that you'll be sorry for Okay, So what I tell them when they when they say that, as I said, Look, you've got to research your own specific condition. And let me tell you what I mean by that if your grandma and grandpa and they're in Nursing center center or assisted living. And they've had thrown a virus which is happening a fair amount of the time. People say like my grandma's had it and she has the antibodies and then they've also been stage one vaccine or stage two vaccine. Don't say Look, I just want you to think about this. If they've had it recover. They already have the antibody. Which is exactly what the vaccine doing. And then if they get vaccinated, they kind of get a double dose of the animals. They have the natural antibodies. Now they're having basically the response from The vaccine antibodies and really the risk factor. The younger you are, you know, the less risk factor. So if you're healthy and your kids are healthy, and your grandma and grandpa have either had it or they had the vaccine. In my opinion, I think it's totally fine to visit him. Okay. Now there was also a report that came out that said Just because we get the back to scene doesn't mean we get to ditch the social distancing the masks. What is that all about? Because If we get the vaccine, Doesn't that mean that we either can't get it or give it Well, you're just using logic. Stop doing that. You need to buy into the you know, basically all of the fear, factors and stuff they're going out there and all joking aside, or sarcasm aside. What really is they're saying is that we just want to do everything possible to reduce any accidental transmission and so wash your hands. Social distancing the guidelines are, you know, wear a mask, and we've even heard some other guy's lines where l You should wear a double mask, which we're going to see someone that's in the high risk population. It really was the other thing that we're not talking about that I think is an important discussion point. Is everybody needs to do be doing things for their immune system or their health to be healthy, which is, you know, reducing your sugar intake, eating, helping life foods, making sure that you have immune system modulating. Things like vitamin A vitamin D zinc, vitamin C, explanation, garlic all of those things I think have a place in this and if you do everything possible to reduce your risk factors And Grandma and Grandpa are are doing what they're supposed to you. I think that there's there's some opportunity to go establish some relationships or or basically go back to those relationships. Have been off for the last year. So we were kind of we're chatting about this in the news room, and we're kind of taking a look at the closest equivalent that we have right And we know that there are differences. But the flu is a recurring thing. Every year, scientists do the best they can to predict which flew variants are going to be the most prevalent. We go and get our shots. We go on with our lives. Sometimes they're dead on sometimes they're not so close. But you still have, you know, extra immunity. And so you know, why would this virus be different with at least three vaccines on board? That's such an interesting, fascinating question with so many possible Hansel's, too that in your aunt then and you're right, like there's Why are we treating this? You know differently than And the other too, like the flu every year, and we're knowing that the flu vaccine is, you know, kind of a hit are kind of a miss. And how many people are getting and I've seen 30%. I've seen reports of, you know, pushing 50%. The flu vaccine, And yet it didn't shut down our entire life as we know it like the Corona virus, And so what? Again going back to knowing the The information trying not to buy into the fear of everything that's out there right now and also being able to be responsible and visit Grandma and Grandpa and I'm telling people look you get is healthy as possible. And then it's my advice. You do follow all of the guidelines. But you gotta live life. All right, Dr. Jason West, joining us. Thank you very much, doctor. Thanks for having me guys. All right here. "America's new favorite game with our show, And that is why the hell is this on the show sheet today? Now a few minutes ago is dawn. I wondered about dawn Dawn wrote something that we were very unsure about today. Right now, though, it's Alexis and I've been I couldn't wait to talk about this. Alexis has written the following on the show sheet. Hansel and Gretel. Is sadder than I remember. Yes, I repeat, Hansel and Gretel is sadder than I remember. Um Explain yourself, Alexis. Okay, guys, when I say Hansel and Gretel Think about this German fairy tale. What kind of what? Themes come to mind. Mom come kids being lost in the woods being shoved into another one. Potentially a witch candy house. Yeah, Okay. The trail of bread crumbs. Yeah. You think of the breadcrumbs. Your base of knowledge of Hansel and Gretel is frightening me a little bit. I'm just being very real honest here. It scared me a little bit like go ahead. Yeah, that's that's generally what I thought too mean. That's pretty bad, isn't it? All of those things being you know in the oven and there's a witch out there and you're lost in the woods. Well, I'm reading this book last night, too. Then my kid, I'm going. Oh, my goodness. It's really sad for these Children. So do you know why they're in the woods in the first place? No. They had to run away from their wicked stepmother. Yes, and leave the little bread crumbs, which, of course, the birds ate. There's they overheard their step mother and their father, who was a poor woodcutter one night talk about how they There's too many mouths to feed and that they need to leave the Children out into the forest. And they were just gonna leave him there. Yeah. Now I thought Within the same day they started venturing into the forest to try to get out. And then they follow this bird. But then the bird actually leads into this which right? No. They spent the night in the forest. And didn't find the witch until the next morning, so these poor Children would cut her cut. Her father just says Okay. Step wife Who's the step Mom, We'll leave the kids out in the woods. No problem. They sleep in their cold. And then they follow this bird. Then they see the switch and it's a candy. You know, the eating the candy off the house, and then she invites them in. OK, so then The whole Stove thing happens, right? It's Gretel has a moment where she can shove the witch into the still well before that. The which puts him in a cage. Poor Hansel is dragged out of bed. She threw him into a cage and she tries to get a big breakfast, so he gets nice and plump. And the kid. He's smart. He has a chicken bone that he puts the chicken bone out because the woman's kind of blind Yes. Yes, any. She's like you're too thin. We gotta keep fattening you up. And then finally she just gets annoyed within says all right. We're just gonna heat the oven up because you know what? It's time to eat. I'm hungry. And of course, gotta eat, too. That's right. But Gretel knows she gonna cook me up too. So then she pushes her in In that bird that led them to the the Gingerbread house in the first place. Comes back and leaves them back out of the forest. And they had, of course, pocketed some of the jewels and stuff from this witch is home and brings the best of the father. That's why they're in the oven. Yeah, then brings him back to the woodcutter father who left him in the woods in the first place, right? They're supposed to live happily ever after. Yeah, they don't resolve that, Do they? It's just like here's your crappy parents. You that didn't want you and left you in the forest. So this is sadder than I thought. Now I hear is the only problem. It sounds like you're very animated when you're telling us this story, and didn't you, Jason? Didn't she learn If she's very animated, like she's auditioning for, Um, uh, you know, um, some type of voice work in a Children show that then won't go to sleep. You monotone Whenever you read him, Hansel and Gretel. You know what God great question. I was really trying. But there were a few moments like you threw him in the cage. I was like, Wait, wait, cancels in the cage. Why did not remember this them and he's looking at me like What He's like. I want to be a Paul night. I can't wait about that. Oh Grimm Brothers fairy tales. We really think about these stories. Really sad and Hansel and Gretel. It's sadder than I remember. But, yeah, I was trying to be as monotone as possible. Did you complete the story Or was it so horrifying to you that you stopped? Oh, I had to finish it for myself. Luckily, he had a pipe down a little bit. And I was like, Oh, I must know. She left the oven up. What happened? Why did they just stay at the gingerbread house with all the tour treasure? Yes. You always want your your parents, right? I guess even if they don't want you anymore, they leave you in the woods to go chop wood that just I just wow. It is. I mean, it is, uh, I will. I agree. It's Way way darker than you think that it issue you know, Hansel. Incredible. It just sounds all great, but no bread, And I guess it was just a little crust. That the step mom gave them as they were going in. So he when he sacrifices little crust and then shared it with shared Earth. What's that? Got to this part of the boy? My girl said. I got Iris. You know, she was German. And so I got Her for Christmas. A big book of Grimm fairy tales on and I used to read some tour and we would just laugh because they were so scary and bizarre. I'm like, Oh, my God. And she would just That was a funny thing for us to do is laugh of the Grimm fairy tales that we're just not good for kids like Little Red Riding Hood is way different like, Oh, my gosh, They're horrible about that. I mean, talk about. It's really like scaring kids into being good. A lot of the themes were You don't like me? Yeah, well, ma'am, so you can we mark you down is never reading one of these again to your kid or Well, I mean, at this point, he doesn't really get it. So you he's just for myself consuming all of it. No big deal. Yeah, we all have our thing. It's only it's only mom who's freaked out true like what is happening here. Now I do kind of want to go back and read them all. Just go. Oh, wow, because I think back and it's like, Oh, Hansel left some bread crumbs and a birdie. Supreme Court to hear case over congressional seat count

"Agreed to review a lower court order blocking President Trump's push to change the numbers from the 2020 census. NPR's Hansel Owen reports. Trump wants to make an unprecedented change, too, who was counted in the numbers used to reapportioned seats in Congress. The Constitution requires the numbers that determined each day chief congressional seats include every person living in each state. President Trump wants to exclude unauthorized immigrants from that count, which would be an unprecedented changed how the Constitution's language has been interpreted for more than 200 years. A lower court blocked that from happening, and now the Supreme Court is set to hear aural arguments on November 30th. The timing of the hearing increases the potential for Trump to try to make this change while he's in the White House. Angelo

It's there's there's not one issue we agree on that. I can think of for the most part yet, and you wrote this, and it just really sent chills down my spine. You wrote this book to sound an alarm as a warning. Warning to my fellow patriots about the left's undying commitment turn America into a land, our parents, founders and framers wouldn't recognize it. It's perfectly put, and that's the direction that they're headed on page twenty seven. You have a great part about how Ben Franklin says we ever republic. If you can keep it, can you talk more about how this truly is? A referendum election in some sense and the left is trying to do to our country. Well the the story about Franklin's interesting, because it's, it's the constitutional convention and somebody says he comes out one days, says, is it a monarchy republic republic? If you can keep it Reagan, I quote him off. When I give speeches, said Freedom Charlie and you know this is but one generation away from extinction. And you know when if you want understand if socialism is adopted if their stated goal is adopted America as we know, it then becomes unrecognizable look, I can understand psychologically. There's a component of maybe people that that have been indoctrinated in schools, and you're great at this because you're going in to hostile environments every day, and you're saying you know what there's another way of thinking here, so maybe the idea that people think Charlie that some things are oh, everything's going to be free and they're gonNA forgive my loans at I'll have a guaranteed government job guaranteed government food. How did obamacare workout now? We're GONNA have Medicare for all or or double down on the stupidity of Obamacare and guaranteed retirement. Guaranteed vacation sounds great. But simple math shows you that you'll never get there. And that's why in the Fourth Chapter of the book did this whole history of socialism which is a history of failure? The point is look at the issues. If if we're talking about law and order. They've cited in Portland in Seattle and new. York and Chicago with the radicals. Joe Biden his yet that I know of said one good thing about the ninety nine percent of cops protect and serve and put their lives on the line for us every day. You're right. Okay, so law and order taxes. He's pledging to raise your taxes through the roof. That will destroy the economy Then they're gonNA just add all the bureaucracy. The Donald Trump spent almost four years. Eliminating that'll be gone. That means nobody's GONNA WANNA DO Business. That's why the Biden Obama economy was so bad. Then you look at where now energy independent for the first time in seventy five years with a number, one producer of energy in the world will lose that for sure We'll shut down coal fracking. Oil Gas exploration production those tens of millions of jobs high paying jobs career jobs for people. Then it's about amnesty. Or the United Sanctuary states of America versus Border Security and law and order of never mind foreign policy. We haven't even touched that part yet, so. There's a lot at stake. If those plans stated plans are implemented. America will go down the past you know. The Trash bin of history as Reagan, said Freedom One generation away from extinction we will. It I shudder to think what will happen the three you and your children by kids, and and maybe one day grandkids. ARE READY FOR THAT And I love the framing, because as the founder said either we're GonNa live free and defendant right now, or we're gonNA. Have a country that you know. We don't WanNa live it, and that's really the framing. That is so important right now, and you talk about and I'm really pleased about this. Shawn because I think we have forgotten about the Russia hoax too quickly in. In the conservative movement, you have been the leader on this every night. You were covering it. You didn't let us forget you help. Muller Accountable, you had investigative journalism and it just seemed that an Oxana names, but other conservatives just kind of drifted away from like Oh. That's what happened happened. You have two chapters on this in the book. Can you talk about that? Yeah I mean I call it Charlie, the the biggest corruption abuse of power scandal in history and the Ukraine was oh. Okay, we failed with Muller after three years. We won't. We won't even bother with a special prosecutor not to I'm going backwards here but to get to Ukraine. You? Know they're talking about quid pro quos, but you have to ignore their presidential candidate on video saying you're not getting a billion US tax payer dollars unless you're fire. That prosecutor is named Shokhin. WHO's investigating my son Hunter who went on a and said? Do you have any experience in oil? No Gas, no energy, nope, any experience in Ukraine. Nope, why are you being paid millions? No, because you dad, so there was a quid pro quo and millions of dollars for the Biden I call crime family. That's exactly right, so. Listen and China's even worse. You get to this whole thing what we now know and I believe what's coming. It's like, and this is where the media's corrupt because. They're just the propaganda wing of all things democratic. Socialist. We now know and have all the evidence that we'd ever need is that they protected their favorite candidate. Hillary Clinton. For things you and I and everybody you know that follows you and you have a massive audience would. Literally never get away with. If you had subpoenaed emails Charlie Kirk and you decided to delete them, and you decided to acid. Wash your hard drive with something. I had never heard about bleeped bleach bit and bust up your devices with hammers. You'd go to jail. If you violated the espionage act, you'd go to jail. They protected her. Then the narrative began we now know began in August. We know crossfire hurricane representatives actually went to brief. President Trump General Flynn. Flynn on national security, but they were there to try and get information on trump and Russia, the most amazing part of this, because the Democrats and the media live for all these years is that they knew and they said and they wrote, and they even testified. There was never any evidence, but there was a dirty Russian dossier. And now we know even the New York Times acknowledged full full of Russian disinformation and that was used. And they were warned not to use it, but high ranking people abusing their power, wanting to take out candidate, trump, transition, team, trump, and then deep into the Presidency Donald Trump. They use the dirty Russian misinformation dossier to ruin Carter pages life and roomed his civil liberties and constitutional rights, but more importantly to spy on candidate trump, and then they had their insurance policy. The fact that the mob in the media ignores it is beyond comprehension. I have so I have two chapters. One is on the Russia hoax, and the other is on this whole impeachment witch hunt. And I want everybody in your audience to understand one thing here if I can get one point across. Yeah, they hate Donald Trump, but they hate us more. They think we are as Peter. Struck, said the smell by the way I probably shop at Walmart say money. Why not you have a woman I love Walmart I love COSCO's. I Love I love it all. And I've shopped there my whole life I mean people always stopped me when I'm in a grocery? So, what are you doing here? Shopping? Wa I like to eat a cracks me up. So but think about that. smelly Walmart Shoppers while irredeemable deplorables, wow! Bitter Americans as Obama said that WANNA cling to their God. I'm guilty their Second Amendment Rights Guilty Bibles and religion I'm guilty of that, too. But. It's contempt for your audience. It's contemporary my audience. It's because they knew better. And they will ling. This was an attempted coup. Now do I think there's going to be arrests and prosecutions I? Do spend much slower than any of us would have liked, but the evidence is overwhelming. It's incontrovertible sad actually that this could happen. That was going to be my follow up. Question Sean because when I travel and we get thousands of e mails a on this topic. When are people going to go to jail? And can you give me insight on this? Can you give us any clues any crumbs that we're starting to see from Durham? It's I call them. It's funny. You say crumbs because call them the the Attorney General Bar breadcrumbs. It's like Hansel and Gretel. Remember. We're we're trying to follow and see the trail exactly yeah. He did say that the president was spied on. It did happen illegally. The. Think about this. If you go before Judge Judy I wouldn't WANNA lot because Judge Judy I. I've met her once she'll eviscerate. You I watched her show. You. Don't go before a court. The information that you have not verified. It actually said at the top of a FISO Warren Charlie. It says verified. Okay. We now know the dossier was unverifiable. The sub source we now know, said this this bar talk. We were making this up. This was never meant for anything and again Hillary paid for it funneled money separate issue. And so, what is going to happen I don't have a crystal ball but I. do know all of the facts that are in the public. Are Enough to indict many of the names that your audience is most familiar with. I would argue. Komi McCabe struck page. I'd like to know a clapper. Brennan's role in all of this ends up being and and others. The more fascinating deep question is. Will they get to that January fifth twenty seventeen meeting inside the Oval Office? This is when member Biden said George Stephanopoulos Oh I. Don't know. Anything about this, you know this whole impeachment Russia thing. He was the one same. Bring up the Logan Act fifteen days later Susan Rice in that meeting did the Cya memo the day that Donald Trump was inaugurated. Obama in that meeting shot Sally Age by saying a He. He knew everything about the Kislyak Michael Flynn call. If we look. To sum it up. I think we're GONNA get there because the evidence. Is that overwhelming? If we don't. I fear for the country? Because of you. GonNa Raid Manafort's home predawn raid and you're going to raid Roger Stone's home. For lying to Congress by the all many of the names I mentioned were referred for the same crime and you're gonNA. Pull it twenty nine guys in tactical gear, frogmen and tip off CNN cameras and. Have a biased jury for person. We won't have equal justice and equal application of our laws, and worse than that Charlie is. We lose our constitution. Yes, all our laws are are predicated on next great document and some `perfect, but it creates the path to perfection at a more perfect union so. Long answers. I'M GONNA talk. Show I love it. No, this is what our audience needs to hear, and and thank you for that and look I I completely agree because if we do not have people and I, say this as carefully as I can in handcuffs for what they did Donald Trump then I I will lose faith in the American justice system I. Don't want that and I don't want revenge I don't retribution I want people to be held accountable and I would want the same if someone did this to Barack Obama because it should never happen to a leader ever. Yes. and. They've gone after every single trump friend confidant, and yet if you oppose Donald Trump you get different treatment, talk a lot about the constitution in your book and the founding of our country, Sean going to be honest, I've been very let down by some of these supreme. Court decisions lately Can you comment on that and the importance to get more people like Kavanagh? Who's actually ruled brilliantly? Unlike John Roberts. I! I'm a little. I don't know what's happening. Roberts I have my theory I guess I have my sources people that. have their own ideas based on some knowledge? For whatever reason and I think this goes back to the obamacare decision. He has allowed. How the court appears to influence his decision making. I also sense with no evidence whatsoever. You're not a big fan of president trump, but that should not come into his thinking. Now. If getting rid of bureaucracy and lowering taxes and energy, independence, and securing our borders, and law and order are all part of this election. Let me tell you another big part of it. And it's you know we're taping this ninety. Whatever days away from the Election Day, I what about and we got asked. What about the Supreme Court? Yes, I go through a whole list I. Forget what paid maybe sixty seven I forget. A. In the book. Of. All the things Democrats would do if they're getting power one, is they? WanNa, stack the courts. Get rid of the Electoral College. And I. What, they're saying they. WanNa do is scary. They used to hide it Charlie. When I every single Liberal Democrat running for office, they would run to the left in the primary. They race back to the center, but you knew they wanted the left. There now openly embracing the most radical elements in the country and you know. Unfortunately we're watching it all. Play out nightly on TV and and that sad what I see happening when I think we have to remind a trump supporters that these are not trump appointed justices, a gorsuch I think ruled incorrectly on one ruling. That's it besides that gorsuch and cavenaugh have been tremendous and terrific verses Roberts. I just think we have to give the audience a sense. Sense of continued conviction that the trump appointed justices will continue to rule correctly and Clarence. Thomas and you know the the Thomas Family. They get no credit at all. I mean what he has done. And can you comment on that? 'cause I, E, you've actually been you open my eyes to that like eight years ago and I never learned about Clarence Thomas as a high schooler until you I mentioned it just as a quick aside on his incredible career. I like to do on TV and antidote on radio, too. Sometimes I call it the Hannity history, lesson 'cause I lived through all of this. I know this is going to see. You're not even thirty three, but my radio journey started in nineteen eighty-seven crazy right. Now on my twenty fifth year of Fox, I didn't think I last two. So I feel very blessed. As a side note if you haven't read my grandfather's son. Which is about Clarence Thomas is life. It's amazing. But. You know it's interesting because him and Scalia. To my opinion, my to most favorite justices in my lifetime. Scalia this incredible wit and genius and understanding and. They got a little acerbic side to when when he was questioning Clarence Thomas always set by quietly. What they called a high tech lynching at the time, the more modern. Let it. You gotTA. Remember Yeah. And you know. It was then Senator Ted Kennedy you know Robert Bork's America the borking of America. That was Clarence Thomas. Now we see it more recently cavenaugh. It exposes. The, who is Joe Biden? Who is his team? Because Clarence Thomas and Justice Scalia or the people we need on that court. We call them constitutionalists or originalists, the original intent, not people that would sight foreign law as liberal justices have done or not people that feel that they can rule by judicial Fiat and dictate or legislate from the bench. Democrats always wanted the court to do that which they could never. Do legislatively or win at the ballot box and that's why they want. We call them. Activists Justices Clarence Thomas. has shown a fidelity to the Constitution at the Antony Scalia. That is beyond enviable And the differences styles always interesting, too because Justice Thomas will always be quiet. That's very few questions. Anthony Scalia was in there in a wrestling with people. I don't know about John Roberts. I can't get into it, but I do believe the next president United States is a very good chance. You have a lot of older justices may want to retire. And I think that the next this election in just three short months. That's on the ballot and that's that's generational now. And Sean I think we have to pressure the Biden campaign to do what trump did and release a list of justices I mean president trump was so transparent and Joe Biden hasn't done it yet. Intentionally, of course, because he'll probably put repeated to lieber something on the United States Supreme Court I mean as horrifying as that might be so in two two quick closing question Sean and thank you for being so generous with your time anchorage, everyone you know. Know go by live, free or die. the first is this. Can you just talk about? We are heading into the election. A lot of trump supporters. They're failed. They're falling victim. They suppression pulse I wish that wasn't the case, but it seems like the memory of two thousand sixteen as faded where people forget. We were down by double digits. Can you just give a little vote of confidence to some of our listeners out there? That think we're just losing. I WANNA. Give the vote of confidence, but I want people to feel this way. I want people to think I'll use a football analogy that our mutual friend Linda that you know. Who's your biggest fan? My radio producer? He's amazing. Amazing, but she doesn't even know how many points you get a touchdown, so I'm giving these football analogies. I, want this election. I want people to feel the way I feel which is. We're on our own twenty. Two minutes to go. We have no time outs We're down by six. We got a cross. The plane marched down the field, cross the plane and hit the extra point to win. So if people feel a sense of genuine urgency and worry and concern, I'm cool with that because fear often as a great motivator, not irrational field fear, but if people do not vote, you will get the government that they're telling you. They're going to give you believe. That that is their agenda. To be a Republican and win. You GotTa always use this analogy got to run the table I gotTA. Get Florida Georgia North Carolina can't win without Ohio. No Republican's ever become president without it right? You got hold Iowa then you got pick off Pennsylvania Wisconsin hopefully Michigan maybe MINNEA- Minnesota will be play. Maybe the city of Arizona will be in play. By Joe Biden reference for those of you. That didn't get. We got a hold Arizona Gopher Nevada New Mexico. New Hampshire and Maine's second congressional district. If every single mom, this is a battle cry. You started out this interview with this. I wrote this book not because I like writing books. My last book I donated every Penny I made to charity I don't care. It's not that. This is a tipping point. Charlie this is I, don't. See if these policies are implemented how America recovers. Irreparable harm the to the rule of law to our courts to our economy, they want to wipe out the lifeblood of of the world's economy. This this promise of socialism and I go into such detail about how it's always failed. Here's a quick socialism of example. Member obamacare. Keep your doctor keep your plan. Save on average twenty five hundred dollars a year per family right? Okay. Millions lost their doctors. Millions lost their plans. We're all paying about two hundred percent more and add to that. Forty percent of Americans almost forty percent have only one obamacare Biden Carriage James Choice now. How did they do with that promise? Medicare is going broke. How did they do it? That promised social security. Charlie hate the break this here. He paying into it. You probably won't get it I. Barely Skate through, and they might give me ten cents until they means tested and then take it back, How does it? How did Liberal government work in New York City with all the anarchy cutting a billion dollars, so please? How's IT WORKING IN CHICAGO? All. These liberal cities have where the violence we've been talking about takes place. They all have one thing in common. They've been run by Liberal Democrats for decades right. Most of these states have been run into the ground by Liberal Democrats for decades. If you WANNA know what America will look like if Biden Bolshevik Bernie. Pelosi Schumer and Bozo. That team gets place look at new. York state and city look at Chicago the City Illinois. The State Look at California. Look at Oregon. Look at Portland, the city. Look at Seattle. Look at the state of Washington. Yes. And I. Love this country too much. You know it's an all hands on deck moment and Every everyone of you've got this connection with younger people in this country. You have this incredible. A credible platform you built, and it's become powerful and meaningful and transformative to the country, and you're going out there, and you're fighting on these college campuses and you. You know it's not easy to be in the middle of a I call it a shift. Show all the time, but let's well put, but you do it. And it's freedom works. Every time you give up freedom for security, you lose your freedom because the security that they're offering. These promises that can never ever be fulfilled. In America. The land. I'll close with this unless you want to go further I can keep going the. Barry Farber who was a mentor of mine. Just recently passed away like ninety ninety one. And he always said there's never been a country in the history of mankind that has accumulated more power and abused at less than the United States well I add. A country in the history of mankind that has accumulated more power abused at less, but used it to advanced human condition. The reason America is great and exceptional. If I can say that today, it's not perfect, but it's great. An exceptional is because of its people, and because of the fundamentals of liberty and freedom. So that? Natural rights versus government or rights, natural rights come from God doubt by our Creator. Life Liberty pursuit of happiness while you can't pursue happiness these days in Chicago New York Moreland Seattle. So there's a lot on the line. I love your audience. I'm so thankful for all you're doing, and you've got a great team that you building review and you're out there fighting the fight and I just urge you guys. Just fight like your country depends on it. Because America's, we know it. It's all hanging in the balance. Yet was Sean. You've been so generous the last quick thing I defend the president all the time personally as a person. Can you comment on that because I've had the opportunity to meet him? not as much as you obviously and get to know him, but a lot of people here misrepresentations in lies about who he is as a human being. Let's close on this note. Can you just mention one or two things that that people can take away from that? You know first of all. It's interesting. Nobody seems to understand Donald trump yet. They don't want to understand. I mean Donald Trump. The Dog Bites the beasts, things you feeling sad or get cancer. You Complain Trump. I mean that's how saying the leftist. But here's a guy that is so unique he this guy is like a soon nami force of energy like I've never met my life. The most distinct and unique quality he's had is as president. You mentioned the Supreme Court. He put those people that he said he put. He cut the bureaucracy as he said he'd caught, and he cut the taxes as he said he'd cut. He did the North Dakota. A keystone pipelines Anwar Likey said he would. He's building the wall or almost four hundred miles. A wall by the by election will be over four hundred miles. He found a way it was. It was an uphill climb He said he wanted to pull us out of foreign conflicts, but not back away from evil defeated. The Caliphate took out. Baghdadi and Associates took out Sola Mani took out the Al. Qaeda leader in Yemen. So? What makes him special and unique in terms of presidency is that he is who you see is who you get. The guy that's fights on twitter is the guy that's fighting for a better trade. Deal the guy that fights. Against Liberal Democrats and the media mob is the same guy is fighting to keep his promises that to me makes him the most unique transformative political figure in our lifetime. And Right now. The. We tip the scales. You have a choice. It's never been a bigger choice. He will keep his promises. Coronas been a little bit of a curve ball to the world, but even that ten days after the first case, the only guy that I know of thought about a travel ban will be donald trump. They were teaching at the time and Joe Binder Biden was call them Sinophobic, so he's a man of his word. He's a man that will fight to his last dying breath for this country and the promises he made, and that makes them in my view very transformative. Men will. The book is live for Your Die God bless you, Sean, thank you for that. You do and we really appreciate. It helps you soon. Thanks bye. What a great conversation that was! "Let's take a look at I. Guess the mandatory series win. You got done watching it. I guess. How overall satisfied were you with it up and down for you like this episode was good? But this episode is kind of a Dud. What what was your first impression as a whole I think I'd dug the whole the whole series whole a few more times? I really dug it from beginning to end when it was down it was still great. Its lowest points were still pretty high points. Okay overall. I really dug it but I also have like a huge love of Westerns and Samurai movies. And this kind of felt like it kind of felt like a way for star wars to play in a new sandbox. It felt very reminiscent of the original trilogy while also managing to kind of have its identity. Yes okay segues is into a good point. I noticed right away on the series the simple things like the fades from scene to scene. Where the same little you'll circular fades aides or sideswipe fades from? Yeah from you hope. You cannot do that when I graduated from film school. One of one of the things they told us in in film school is don't ever do that. It looks it looks amateur. It looks bad. Really for whatever reason star wars can do it and the reason they the reason they can do it is because they just kind of did it at a time when they were defining what Star Wars. This is so when episode four came out or Star Wars or the original movie nineteen seventy seven when that came out already visually. It was so distinct and so oh very specifically star wars that it can incorporate silly things like a like a cross dissolve across fade or a circle Michael Fade or whatever you wanNA call them It can do that because it is star wars and and if you saw that if you went to go watch the avengers and and you see that really slow white from the right side of the screen to the left side of the screen to transition. It would look very out of place in Lynn very artificial because because that's not part of cinema language but it is a part of Star Wars language and incorporating that into the man. delorean was something. I've thought was incredibly smart. Yes you actually see that in things like Djeddai Fallen Order And a lot of video games as well. Okay we'll incorporate that in the cut scenes it just it's A. It's an easy visual indicator that this is star wars I love that when I saw that on the very episode. That was one of the simple simple fan services that the what other fans services or things did you see that Cairo. I the main thing. The first first thing I saw for sure was was the rifle and everybody talks about the right okay but it deserves to be talked about talking about man. Does the knife owned the mandatory rifle. Yeah it's It's it's kind of like a long rifle with a tuning fork. Yes that was Boba Fett rifle in the holiday special which is the infamous holiday special which I've seen and it is as bad as everybody says and it's not like it's not like a challenge to go watch it do do not watch it. Don't and watch it. It's not it's not even worth laughing at. It's it's so hard to watch but In the BLU ray release of the Star Wars The star awards box set episodes one through six on the bonus disc. There's actually an Easter egg on their. That has the entire animated segment from the holiday special. Yes so you can actually see that and it's really cool but in that segment it's very much like a Ralph Bakshi inspired character design. It's really Kinda cool but you do see Z.. BOBA FETT teaming up with Luke at first and then he betrays him but he's got this weird rifle that should never ever work and everybody thought it was a cool looking rifle. I never thought we'd seen it and live action. Let alone we would disintegrate people. Yes that was another little throwback to empire pyre when vader tells Boba Fett notice integration. Yes because he had that rifle and rifle disintegrates. Yes it does look a little bulky on him but they still make it work. It works completely nothing about again. That goes back to what I was saying before about the visual language of star wars and again in the empire strikes rex back in the original theatrical cut. There's a shot on cloud city of a guy running through running through cloud city as it's being attacked by the empire but he's holding. What's supposed to look like a futuristic device but even in the eighties? Everybody was like that is an ice cream maker. Awesome husband was just running with an ice cream maker but they brought that back And so the the client played by Verna Herzog. He actually carrying all of his best car in one of those ice cream. Oh and so. That is another throwback that I really so when he opens up the best guard the open up that containers just the ice cream maker and it's the same kind of ice cream maker that that that extra was carrying awesome and it's Super Fund. It has no bearing on anything. If you didn't know that it's it doesn't take away or add anything to it except for the factory like I know that the super fans hansel catch it. Sure the casual fan okay. Whatever you know they won't even notice it but still get to enjoy it absolutely? Yeah and the show is filled with stuff like that. There is an episode where the episode with Bill Burr where they go to like a heist episode. Yes super the prison ship. Yeah there is one on living person on that ship. That person was played by Matt. Land Her who was the voice of anecdotes skywalker in the clone wars. Yeah and a whole bunch of other stuff but it's cool to have that clancy brown played a de Veroni wasn't Ronin. He was different. He was a different species. He was the red guy the horn. Yeah but The Big Guy. Yeah but that was clancy Brown. who was the voice of sabotage press and a bunch of other true in the rebels? Yeah and and Star Wars rebels he was sabotage press. It was really cool to see people from the animation side of things being incorporated into the live action. which is the kinds of stuff? I want to see moving forward with specific characters. Sure On the inverse of that you know we're we're getting to see live action or we're getting see animation people in live action and on the mandatory and then also in Rizal Skywalker. We got sorry guys. I'm talking about it. We got to hear. Canaan from rebels was one of the voices. You heard you heard Soka. You heard every you know people who were doing voices specifically for the cartoons in for for super fans you know which if I may indulge myself they already introduced you as a superfan. Oh good good a resident expert. Sorry whatever is just whatever cooler than I actually am but it was really fun to be able to to see those things. And if let's say I'm talking to you Leigh and you have no idea who Canaan is and we see rise skywalker you're thinking it's super cool because you're seeing this really cool scene. I think it's super cool because I'm seeing is really cool scene and also Kanaan's yeah and so it's just kind of another little the thing and and the reason I bring rays of Skywalker with this is because it's all happening right now right now You know we can. We can talk about this next year when you know when I owned the box set of the man delorean and I own the skywalker. Saga and I can watch those at the same time and and it doesn't necessarily have the same effect because we can watch it whenever this is something unique to December of two thousand nineteen this is as we're experiencing the lore. which again there are some of us like like you and I who will watch the cartoons and the TV shows and read the books and read the comments but there are are some people who only will take the movies or now the TV shows as that's all they know about wars and that's totally cool but at this point you know we saw in the Manda Laurean the child the baby iota used the force to heal somebody and a week later? We're watching the rise of skywalker skywalker. And we're seeing those same force. Power is being used and just from a serial point of view for storytelling. I I'm completely fascinated by. I'm really really excited that I can experience it this way and nobody else was going to experience it this way in now even now. We're we're staring at the New Year here in the next couple of days. People aren't going to be able to experience it that way anymore. Because it's already happened past and it's kind of a lightning in a bottle

Musical Note Perception Can Depend on Culture

"Music music but what shapes our perception of music to candidates are the limits of the human brain and the exposure. We've already had to music during our lives. If we only test participants with expense with best music than we'd really can't know whether the speeches come from the experience or from the biological constraints psychologists noory Jacoby of the max-planck-institute for empirical aesthetics during the past few years he and his colleagues have visited a remote area of Bolivia took investigate this question so we traveled there by taking canoe ride or it can Cessna plane or a couple of hours track to communities. Don't have running water orange. The CIMINI are an indigenous people who live in the Amazon Basin we specifically recruited participant from the believe in Amazon because this this participant had relatively little exposure to music for example octaves are a staple of western music but Jimani musical instruments don't feature them as an acoustical go phenomenon. An octave is defined as the interval in which the vibrational frequency of the bottom note is half that of the top note. They're considered the same note inactive apart for example Middle C. N. Nine High C. for the study she money participants pence were asked to listen to simple melodies and sing them back to the researchers. This exercise revealed that the money don't perceive tones that are knocked of apart as the same note on the other hand participants from the US did recognize octaves other musically trained Westerners were better at it than those with no musical training ansel Hansel what is exciting years highlights the importance of experience and exposure on the mind the researchers in the journal current biology in an earlier study Jacoby Bubis colleague Josh Mcdermott and his team from mit found that the chimney don't find an unpleasant to hear notes sight-seeing f sharp played together but there are distant Combo. That's particularly grading too many western years. Despite the evidence that experience influences pitch perception biology college is also a factor. Jacoby says the new study also revealed the both Westerners and the Toumani have trouble distinguishing between really high notes above four thousand thousand Hertz even though human hearing goes all the way up to twenty thousand Hertz and that may be because no matter where we're from we hit the limits of our brains before we reached the limits of our ears. The Future of Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar, and Disney's Movie Monopoly

"I think we have to go and see twenty three right off. The top. I manage just told me that she read a thorough examination of the announcements made at this this weekend event. How are you feeling. Are you excited about the disney plus era upon us yeah but you have to do this. Julia minoshe from nonfiction chris farley watched non-fiction. You can just look blog. I clarified clarifying. I i think for disney and for me <hes> possibly in different ways you know disney has a strong brand as we know and it is quite articulate clearly articulated ticketed in this and i think that there will be many people including parents and star wars fans who have end marvel fans watch look forward to and i will be sending ending my streaming money elsewhere very interesting not surprising take from chris you are the coast of a podcast called the watch a long running podcast a hot. It looks closely a culture at large but particularly television a lot of t._v. Shows and disney plus. Here's my take on them. Don't care. I'd like to talk to you guys about the movies that were announced cheshire. Okay aside from the mandatory and i do care about this. Say which i care about all the there are two more stories memories t._v. shows. I'm sorry yet theoretically the mental learn is the only thing i have a clear percents of what it is and what it's going to be which actually does feel like the star wars show that we should have had like twenty five years ago very like <hes> grounded in the dirt small character look as opposed to the intergalactic battle kind of t._v. Show the other shows. I don't even know what are those shows. Isn't there a urine mcgregor. Obi obi wan the whole thing right. I think he's lovie wine. Even as i was saying it out loud i was like oh got him getting the names right. Am i getting the names right. Have you guys like a mandate. We're going to do a star wars episode so you should host and she she has ever told you. The story of this is a fun game to play. If you're like in a car and really board is you can ask you just tell you the plot of a movie a husband and i do this sometime and we maybe we should just do a podcast sometimes because it's really wild what people remember but famously i was asked to do the plot of star wars and i gave the entire plot with like intense analysis of the sexual tension between luke and leia and then also hans solo and the trash chute and all this stuff and just like did not mention the desktop the sexual tension between hansel and the trash chute. We are in russian. Oh yeah and i even got but at no point. Did i mention like the death star them blowing it up like the central plot of the movie just didn't exist in my brain spoiler. Sorry we have revealed views here officially that the death star is destroyed and star wars a new hope very sorry to everybody who hasn't seen episode four chris. Would you make the movie news non non non star wars edition so we got some moral news. We got a little look at the lady and the tramp live action yeah so for most of my life. Disney has been like a non factor <hes> it was a i never really grew up in disney household and a lot of these <hes> sort of legacy titles. Don't really mean a lot to me. I don't even know if i actually seen bambi like for instance. <hes> so a seminal event in movie history interesting to have the doorway into disney is marvel and star wars for me but now being introduced to this huge volume play and that that is kinda gonna come attendant with all this stuff and one of the things that we probably talk about when we get into the summer movie awards. That's been kind of confusing for me. This summer is having take things like aladdin seriously. You've been doing that no but it's like that takes up a lot of airspace. Have you seen either aladdin no yeah so you're not taking taking it serious. Oh i'm not taking it seriously but wouldn't you say that it plays a larger role in like pop culture in general because of the like the volume of the megaphone is that much louder pre everything builds everything else and now you've got these three things that disney legacy titles marvel and star wars say nothing of pixar and everything else that take up. I mean this is what you're saying a stranglehold on your brain. It's like sixty five percent of the airwaves man. It's true although in nineteen ninety-two aladdin was a big deal to so if you were hosting the watch which i don't know what would it have been call one thousand nine hundred smells like teen spirit yeah exactly if you were hosting smells like teen spirit the podcast you can get out of your windows media player six days to download it would still be forced to talk about and in some form or fashion but you're right the the the amount of mindshare that they have right now obviously is overwhelming and this is. I mentioned this biennial event. It doesn't happen every year the fact that it happened at this exact time while we're going through a me when wesley just had this conversation last week on the show we were like we are being choked out. You know brock listener has come to choke out with content. You guys get that referenced. I it's about wrestling. It's he wasn't in fighting with my family to today. Thank you to too much time on this podcast. I it is interesting like i could not help but see the announcement black panther too and just how far away that is. We are a thousand days away from black panther too. That's a long time. It's a it's become a cliche to say. We're all gonna be dead by then or the world will be on fire but it's possible that some things are significantly different culture at large a thousand days from now. We may not even have t._v.'s in one thousand days i don't. I don't know what's coming so to be planning that far ahead for something thing particularly something that is so anticipated yeah. I thought it was so strange. I thought it was almost like teasing away. That's funny because i had the opposite reaction which she's like this thing that we have been predicting for a long time which is disney as monopoly is here the this we have seen the realignment of the studios and the streaming services and kind of what the big names are going to be and we have been like well disney's just going to own everything and disney will have this movie and disney will have the streaming service and the men were in all of this i._p. And this was just the confirmation a certainty of okay they have consolidated. All of the i._t. Is together they have their distribution plan ready and disney plus and what what we expected to happen is going to happen and i have an easier time imagining how black panther too is going to fit into entertainment as we consume consumer than i do like basically any movie that a traditional movie studio is releasing or even most of the t._v. Shows on basic cable at this point but i think that the interesting thing that came out of some of these announcements between black panther being nine hundred days away and spider man being excommunicated from the is that there are a lot of people waiting on line. You know what i mean to get in to get their big screen time. There's a lotta characters. There's a lot of filmmakers producers who are all like so. This was a a huge hit and we've got to wait like four years and my guys gotta be in like a couple of thirty seconds spots and post credit sequences of the internals. That's you're telling me it's like that. I'm not single. Black panther would walk away from you. I don't think he michael jordan's. Not gonna get did going to do that but the spiderman thing i thought was indicative of indicative of so he being like let's go let's. Let's do another one most definitely but i think it's because while i think what you're saying is right that the playing field is kind of settled in a way that it's at least for the next next six to twelve months is going to be disney versus net flicks and then h._b._o. Max will come along and then you know. Universal will clarify what they're plays for the most part we we know what the short-term clarity around things but three years from now. I don't know if there's going to movie theaters close three years from now. I don't know if we will have have forty five hundred movie screens three years from now so getting that far ahead of ourselves. I think you're right chris that there's a desire to kind of plant flags. There's there has been mark. Harris has been writing about about this for coming up on ten years. Now this sort of like we plant our flag on a film that we don't even know what it is seven years ahead of time black panther too in particular those struck me as weird because it might be after the rise of skywalker. Maybe avatar to the most anticipated movie that exists that we're aware of world is that i am. I overstating it to say that will add. I think the avatar to is a good example. I mean not that. It's going to go black panthers. The wait between black panther one and two is nothing nothing resembling avatar in avatar too but it is indicative the fact that i think that like without seeing a single piece of footage. I think a lot of people are like. Does anybody still care about avatar. I was gonna ask coup is anticipating. I've talked to you besides get mine. I don't now i don't know but underestimate james cameron at your peril because this is what happened with titanic and this is what happened with avatar people were like is this going to be good. I don't know if i care about this and then boom biggest movie of all time and then biggest movie of all time twice he did that twice. People were like i don't know he lost his fastball. He's a weirdo. He loves to play with his toys doesn't understand humanity so i i wouldn't underestimate cameron trouncing

Governor Ronald Reagan, Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation And Richard Nixon discussed on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah: Ears Edition

"Here's one pretty big story that got buried because of the pre presidential presidential democratic debates and it's a story about an American president who is racist and no it's not the one you're thinking of some surprising audio recordings have surfaced of a phone conversation. Nearly a half century ago between President Richard Nixon and future President Ronald Reagan President Richard Nixon recorded himself talking to then California Governor Ronald Reagan in October nineteen seventy one the day after the United Nations voted to recognize the People's Republic of China Reagan had phone Nixon at the White House to vent his frustration at African delegates who celebrated the vote <music> cover comfortable where the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation said it said that fifty years ago he shouldn't have and he would be the first person to apologize. You'll be the first person you should be the only person to apologize. What does I mean? It would be weird if he was like well apologize but only if those monkeys apologize I what a strange thing to say. Also they like if he said there's a recording he said the thing so now that recording come out Ronald Reagan will have to be cancelled which is going to be hard because life cancelled him I well it takes a lot of work to cancel Hansel a dead person. You got to hold a seance some this spirit back from the dead. We like Ronald Reagan. We have called you back to tell you by Felicia so now because of these newly released tapes Ronald Reagan officially has a racist Asterix next to his name as do many former presidents Woodrow Wilson was a segregationist Andrew Jackson wiped out native Americans. Thomas Jefferson had sex with his slaves and George H W Bush shot to Puck Yeah said it proved me wrong so on the one hand it there's disturbing that America has a history of racist presidents but look on the bright side it also means that Donald Trump is more presidential than we
