After being summoned to the White House for a meeting about vaccine development, Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Stephen Hahn says officials will take the time needed to quote get this right. The FDA is weighing whether to authorize the Fizer and Madonna experimental vaccines. While a separate scientific panel is tackling the question of who should first receive them, Han says. Everyone is working really hard to look at the applicant. Asians and get it done, but they have to do it the right way. Fauci expects tens of millions of coronavirus vaccine doses at start of 2021

"Actually saying millions. They're going to start receiving a vaccine in December. Joining us now is Michael Barr from our 24 7 network with all things vaccine. Good morning, Michael. Yeah. Good morning, Ron. And that's a good place to start because you've got the president who is officially called on the FDA commissioner Stephen Han to join him in the White House today and that since calling Han on the carpet And going to what I'm sure is going to be a grilling over why he hasn't moved faster to approve the Fizer Corona virus vaccine and that meeting's already kind of shaping up to be a little tense. Hunt issued a statement yesterday saying. Let me be clear our career. Scientists have to make a decision and they will take the time that is needed to make the right call on this important decision. What you're hearing out of the White House. Is that their center complaining the FDA is not working around the clock to get things approved. And because of that, you saw the chief of staff, Mark Meadows called Dr Hahn in for a briefing. Now, one of the things that we know is that you've seen Appear to be plane loads on some level of vaccines dropped off in different parts of this country as well as I've seen foreign as well on we're still waiting on the approval from the FDA to give it the thumbs up. We did hear from health and human services Secretary Alex is our yesterday that the vaccine will be shipped within 24 hours of FDA approval. And then, he said, I think rather optimistically that it would be up to nursing homes, hospitals and pharmacies to get that dispensed, and that's true, But you have to get it through the state's first and the states and what the process will be in those individual states. As to how to this first, the vaccine has yet to be determined. We're waiting for that guidance that will come in the meeting today from the CDC. To give a better indication of whether or not the follow through is, Let's make sure that our frontline workers and health officials, the people who are in hospitals and first responders are the ones getting that vaccine first, and then we can start to move into more concerning communities and then who would get things from their That's all relatively true as well. But the states have to kind of break those guidelines down. Based upon the movement from the Trump administration, saying that states would be the ones responsible and that it would be the most populous states and getting the first doses of these vaccines if you will, so there's a lot at play here. There's a lot that's being run through the government that could cause delays. But again, the theory is once the FDA approves it. Those vaccines that are sitting on the runway someplace in Chicago will be able to be dispersed and you could begin getting the vaccines out to people who need it.

The International Reaction To Joe Biden's Win

"Farm minister who has now tweeted. Congratulations joe biden. On your spectacular. Victory joined with other nations. Latest around the world congratulating congratulate and on behalf of new zealand. Vicky nice including lights. I want to congratulate president-elect buydell and vice president-elect harris. us allies around. The world have moved quickly to congratulate president. Joe biden vice president-elect kamala harris on their win even as president trump still refuses to concede the election for countries like canada france and germany. Biden's victory could signal a return to cooperation on alliances like nato and treaties including the paris climate agreement but the prospect of a biden administration seems less promising to more authoritarian leaders with whom president trump ford strong relationships during his time in office including north korea's leader kim jong un brazilian president jair bolsonaro chinese president. Xi jinping who so far have all refrained from publicly congratulating biden and harris. Joining me now is yes means. Sirhan london base staff writer at the atlantic. Thanks for joining us again. As mean thanks for having me also with us. Clouds ladas professor of history and international affairs at the university of north carolina. chapel hill. Klaus good to have you with us. Thank you hello. How are you doing all right. We are in very interesting political moment right now. The president trump has refused to concede and yet president-elect biden is moving forward and the world is noticing clouds. How would you describe the scope. So far of the international reaction to biden's victory well on the whole thing that has been a lot of rejoicing a lot of applause for biden. I think people are hugely relieved that the trump administration will not have a second term and most people are most leaders in in europe and asia and of people in that country's overjoyed. I six they were really getting fed up for the trump administration. It was too dramatic too. Chaotic to unpredictable and people are relieved to see a new administration. I cost you said the administration was dramatic and unpredictable. And i think many americans would agree with you but it continues to be dramatic and somewhat unpredictable. Given the fact that the trump administration is now calling for recounts and investigations into what they allege voter. Inconsistencies are world leaders looking at that and saying anything about that. The fact that they're still Has not been a concession from president trump. Well del shaking their hands. Most of them are shaking the hats but the key for that sorts to themselves because it is no point to interfere in businesses seen as domestic american politics very few people at least very few democratic leaders have any understanding for what is going on in washington. It seems to be pretty obvious that the was of a free and walls not done in a fraudulent way at all and over. Four million people can vote for biden Rather than for trump's majority will lots of for millions of popular vote. He won miss. Four million people and the people have accepted. That biden is president-elect. And booby the new president but they are. You know wondering what's going on in washington but hardly anyone is actually surprised. At the trump administration would embark on such a course of action because that fits in with what is administration was like chaotic dramatic unpredictable and quite irrational to some extent mean given what klaus just laid out there in terms of the continued reaction to the world leaders at least us allies. Saying you know okay. We'll watch what's happening and see how this all plays out. How much of the reaction you think is excitement about biden himself versus relief about removing president trump from office. It's a great question. I mean it's worth noting An and i thought can of clauses overview spot on that you know for a lot of world biden is a very familiar character He certainly not new to the world stage. I think it was in. Benjamin netanyahu the israeli prime ministers congratulations that he noted that he's known biden for forty years. And i think a lot of world leaders know biden. So it's i. I think probably if i had to guess my assessment would be that it's probably the latter. I think a lot of i think a lot of the protests you are seeing in the us in the days after the result was finally announced was probably fell at least to me is an american observing from afar like a lot more relief than necessarily you know excitement. This isn't to say that you know. Folks don't like biden or unexcited to see him at the helm on his set a recognizable figure. But i think the world generally kind of just took a big sigh of relief that you know here returns a. Us option that recognizes. The us is traditional role in the world and will hopefully be kind of retaking that spot on the international stage. And yasmin. you are in london. Where prime minister. Boris johnson has had a strong relationship with president trump. How do you think this relationship between the us and the uk will evolve under a biden administration. It's a really good question. There's certainly been a lot of chatter about that very thing here kind of leading up to the us election and now after that we knew the result i think there is some conjecture that you know obviously as you just said President trump and prime minister. Johnson had a pretty good relationship. I think a lot of that stemmed from the fact that president trump was quite a big supporter of brexit. And you know. I think kind of quite appreciated the sort of comparisons between him and johnson superficial is some of the may be particularly. I think he quite liked references to johnson. As britain trump some remembering correctly and there has been some talk about some potential tensions between biden administration and johnson's downing street. I'm particularly with regard to brexit. Biden has been very clear about his support for the good friday agreement and opposing anything that would undermine it. And i think there's also some talk about how you know johnson before he was prime minister had made some comments with regard to president obama's support for britain staying in the eu. Where i think he made comments about obama's kenyan ancestry in how he had an ancestral dislike of the british empire so these are no doubt comments that administration would probably remember well. But i think it's worth noting that you know. These are things. I do not think are going to shake up the uk us relationship. In a major way. I think there's a lot more that And biden share particularly with regard to issues like climate change like the iran deal and. Yeah i mean. I think more broadly i would expect pretty good. Relations between the us and the uk going forward While it's certainly true. That trump and johnson had had a decent relationship I think you know the uk is is certainly a country that would see its relationship with the us being important irrespective of who's empower claus does not same theory hold true for other. You leaders like angela. Merkel for example and wilma call who themselves had troubled relationships with president trump. And who i can imagine so far are somewhat relieved to see this New administration elect. Yeah the But regarding johnson outside that johnson dossier a little insecure. He was the first international leader. I believe who fold up biden and congratulate him. They said i think that shows the level of insecurity and also abidance irish background. Bill make him wonder how. how how much you consult poured onto the united states in the future and the united vendor the united kingdom needs a trade. Deal the us. And i think he is for it. You know i think he would probably have seen a second trump administration as being more helpful regarding angela merkel and other european leaders. They certainly were relieved. Undiplomatic led a very bad relationship with trump or with raza. Put it the other way. Round a macro tried in various locations to make overtures to trump it was trump really rejected it who couldn't really in the end stand. Angela merkel nothing kid. He had a problem with female leaders. You had the problem as lead us. Who voted much more open to immigration and to do something about asylum people who were looking for asylum in their countries and he could understand and he also criticised the eu including germany for its huge trade deficit of us united states or rather to the united states of course had trade deficit busy you and he almost criticized the eu and it's trade policies. As much as he did china he called the eu. Actually a foe. Which is you know really surprising that you consider your most longest standing allies in the world that you suddenly regard them. As foes at least in trade relations. So underline michael and the german establishment as well as the french and other foreign policies tablets in europe are usually relieved that they see the end of the trump administration and us yes-men just that biden has a very good reputation. He is regarded to be quite honest as perhaps a little too old for the job but on the other hand is a centrist is not extreme is on the last notes of right people know him they a appreciate his his personality is a people person you some would say. Here's a backslapping sort of politician but much more extrovert much. More outgoing and much more ready to compromise than Trump was so all that shouting at nato summits or g seven summits all that Very bad atmosphere attention. The you know the almost talk about to break up of nato and talk about that trump wanted to undermine the quesion of political union of the european union all that will be a thing of the past because by and his administration can be expected to be very constructive to what nate to enter to you however having said that may the last sort biden will also insist on the european spending more money on their defense efforts so he will not be softer regarding nate and regarding the defense efforts of the europeans and here europe really needs to do something because that is an old complaint which goes back to the obama administration and before that wasn't actually unique to the trump administration. And the you know that they are very reluctant to spend more on defense. But i think a practice the president biden will actually be more successful in persuading them at. That would be the right thing to do as you mentioned. Joe biden's age. And i think that that's something that we must talk about because if something happens to joe biden we could be looking at a president kamala harris. And i'm wondering this is something that came up yesterday in our conversation about The role that black women played in american democracy in electing joe biden. We've seen kamala harris the first woman of color to ever sit in that role that i wonder how she will be received by world leaders. Yasmine your thoughts on that yet. It's a good question. I mean i think you know. Obviously that history-making of of her being elected the first female of vice president of colors obviously huge certainly noteworthy among a lot of the congratulations. that were received. I think it was prime minister. Narendra modi of india who actually dedicated an entire tweet just tacoma harris herself And i think the reason for that is is obvious. Obviously her indian heritage. He he sees that is is an opportunity to further strengthen the relationship between india and the us. but yeah. i mean. I don't know i would anticipate We as you say. Given president-elect biden's age that kamala harris could have a more hands on role than previous vice presidents that we've seen In in for that reason we may find that world leaders will quickly get to know come harris in a way that perhaps they didn't get to know vice presidents of the past and it seems just based on the comments that we've seen uncle mirko also an a made a comment about looking forward to meeting a kamala harris that we could expect that you know the world will be paying attention to both of them very much. Not just biden klaus What's been the reaction From china and president xi jinping so far there hasn't been much of a reaction. Xi jinping has kept quiet. We don't quite know why this speculation that perhaps xi jinping want antagonize the trump administration while it is still in office. The course and ten weeks you can do a lot of arm. And he knows that relations between china and the united states are difficult as they are that will continue to be difficult under the biden administration. So he's keeping a low profile on the social media in china have however been lots of comments. Some people really regretful that Trump is leaving because it made the united states weaker. It created a vacuum in international affairs which was appreciated by some observers in china as us believe you know it is much better to have a more stable more predictable government even if that government is perhaps more strategic in its relations with china. But they appreciate that proper possible predictability and international affairs so essentially. It's difficult to say what the leadership actually things and we will have to wait until eventually shipping and The foreign ministry in beijing will come out with a statement but they will do so nothing at the latest one set to mastic insecurity about the election. Outcome has been resolved than they of course will congratulate her joe biden and kabila harris now of course Clouds one country that we know has been watching the disarray In the united states or at least the tension in the united states has been russia. What have we heard if anything from vladimir putin and or his administration so far the gun russia's keeping a low profile putin hasn't congratulated i them and He is keeping quiet. Does not much coming out of russia but the they of course are disappointed. That trump did not win the second term. And there's been talk about disinformation campaigns. Not quite as much as two sixteen but russia did its bid to perhaps enable second trump victory and trump. However the to be quite. Frank hasn't been soft on russia. The administration perhaps not the president. Personally who always had such soft spot for putin and very confidential talks with him and no one really knows. What when on doing these talks but when you look at his policy his administration's policies towards a russia that wasn't soft all imposed over forty times a new sanctions on russia. So he the administration actually hasn't been soft on putin. But i believe that russia fears of fields that the unpredictability and the chaos and the. Let's say less focused way. of the trump administration than what could you can normally expect from an american administration that that in the end helped a russia that often the president Closed both ice and that influenced also of foreign policy. Make us in his administration like the state department. Yes maine another Interesting figure here is israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu who has been a very close ally of president trump And that even translated into votes here. In the united states for the president from certain jewish orthodox communities. He congratulated joe biden and comma harris this past weekend. What do you expect to see from. Benjamin netanyahu in the near term when it comes to us. Israeli relations under a joe biden. I think this is something. That doesn't just apply to benjamin netanyahu but leeds had good relationships with president trump. I think narendra modi also falls into this category. And even figures like victor or bonham road regurgitate both of whom have also congratulated President elected biden But you know. I think he's a netanyahu in particular is a leader who obviously has a vested interest in maintaining a good. Us israel relationship irrespective of. Who's in the white house. It's no secret that obviously he benefited quite a lot. From having president trump in the white house the the moving of the us embassy to jerusalem being obviously one of those Kind of hallmark examples of a win for him That said He obviously you know. He recognizes that an admin the administration is changing. And i think he wants to shore up that relationship. But you know there's it it's been reported That the trump administration is hoping to kind of work with the israelis to sort of applies more punitive measures on tehran. Before trump leaves the white house in the form of sanctions to kind of make it more difficult for biden to return to the iran nuclear deal and try to bring that back it. This isn't to say that. Netanyahu and biden would necessarily see eye to eye on a lot of things i think we would probably see under a biden administration a return to the bit of the more traditional tone that we've known the us to take these israel Opposition to settlement expansion. That sort of thing support for a two state solution but indeed it will not be as rosy of friendship As we've seen between that and your home trump that's for sure we should also note that President trump's administration was also very close with bolsonaro of brazil. Both are considered to have really supported Populist movements and i'm wondering whether or not Desirable not who's also refrained from Congratulating harrison biden on their win and other populist movements across the world are looking at this and saying well maybe this is signals a change. Here i think it's definitely a loss for them. It's a setback. Because you know. I think particularly for leaders like bolsonaro. Who really sort of you know played on his relationship with president trump domestically I think this is a loss because you know even before particularly with populist movements even in places on like brazil where they aren't in power they could turn and look to president trump until their supporters. Look you know he's able to achieve this in the united states so we can achieve at here if know the greatest the most powerful leader in the world can do this that we can do this where we are so without question. I think it's it's a setback for them They lose that. You know that key ally in the white house But that said i think you know populous leaders like minded leaders to trump. Who could potentially take that narrative and sort of utilize it in their favor so While it is a loss for them. I don't necessarily think that it will end. Sort of their relationship trump or or will end them using trump is sort of an example to their benefit. Yes means seer. Han is a london. "To hallway chats. I'm Cara Clays and I'm Liam Dempsey today. We're joined by Hans School Road over the course of seven years Hans built a 12-person web design agency in downtown Chicago and then sold it in early 2019 to focus attention on his new start-up long-term again. Mm, Getting is an auto updating privacy policy generator Hans. Welcome. Thanks for having me. Hey glad to see you here today virtually hans-georg. Thanks so much for joining us. I love for you to share more of your story here. Tell us more about yourself. Absolutely. So, you know, I like starting I have to pick a divided somewhere. So I'm going to start it when I found WordPress because you know, I should date myself free WordPress and post WordPress cuz that's really been a big determiner of my career. We all have that that DeMark wage. Some point, I think you can start where ever you want though. If you want to go back further, that's fine too. Well, maybe a good example is how I got to Wordpress. You know, I was one of the first employees a Groupon Groupon was a hot young company. That was seemingly helping small businesses get more traffic through their doors and I drink the Kool-Aid as we would say a Groupon. I'm very much believed in the model of discounting a company 50% offer more for one day only and you know bringing people together to try out a place over the years though that company went public and I think their priorities changed and I shared my concerns with management they disagreed so I quit I was managing a sales team about a hundred fifty people and I decided I don't like their business model anymore and someone with a small business owner is passionate about what they do within their doors, but they aren't necessarily passionate about bringing that information online. And that was what group I was taking advantage of in my opinion. So what I'm Off to do was to help small-business owners share what they do best online and I think that message, you know, that was the that was the fuel to my midnight Midnight fire Midnight Oil. I'm always so bad with those things. It was the fuel to my fire to to you know, help the small business owner out and over the course of seven years. I found WordPress. I started building websites helping small business owners with their exposure online and the company was successful. I built it up to a 12-person team in downtown Chicago and I happen to be dating a privacy attorney at the time and I told her how I used to copy and paste privacy policies over dinner and her jaw dropped and she's like, what are you doing? I'm like, that's what everyone does. She's like, that's not what you do anymore. Not not what we're dating off and threw a few discussions we decided we we came up with the business model for Irma gettin which we I now have sold my agency and focus all of my time with Sonata on wage. Again is a privacy policy generator. What's cool about our Tech is that you copy and paste the embed code from turmeric added onto the website and that's what allows us to push updates to the policies when the laws change and we give web agencies a free set of our policies in the host that they like our product enough to want to offer term of got into their clients. They can resell it or use our affiliate programs whatever they wish off. But but what we're trying to teach the web industry is something I failed at multiple times, which is the era of copying and pasting privacy policies is over people like we have to accept the future. What is about to happen, especially in America with privacy laws. So that's where my focus is. Now. I am married to Donna and you guys are the first people get to say that publicly to Tom Thumb and yeah, we work from home now and we run from again together and and the rest is history great great story. There's a lot there to unpack and talk about Going to go back to the beginning part cuz I'm curious about Groupon as somebody who used it and hasn't really seen much of it is it sounds like and I don't remember when that was that Groupon and became a thing but it's just before small businesses had web sites. Is that what you're saying websites were definitely a thing. It was 2009 when Groupon which was typically previously called the point which I loved that website named the point., because what someone would just say, what's the point and you're like, oh, you know some kind of joke, but the point became Groupon and I shortly joined group on home sites were still around I was 2010 and you know, I was it was a wild ride watching a company go from a hundred employees to thirty thousand and three years and two years off, um in my career went along with it because of its growth. I naturally I was put in a position to manage people which was a wonderful opportunity. I love sales. I'd love song Is I love sales because I think a lot of people think of sales is bad and I always try to say no. No, no, no, no people are bad or people are good. It is sales is just a Communication channel. So am I only want to do good things with sales and and that's how I train my sales team. So that's something I really appreciated at Groupon. They they gave me the ability to do that for a while, but I felt like watch company went public priorities had changed and now all of a sudden we need to be focused on taking additional margins from small business owners and you know, that sounds good and all but when you're talking to a small business owner asking them to discomfort sells more than 50% and then you're taking more than well you're taking well, it's public knowledge. You're taking more than 50% of a revenue raised. I don't know some didn't feel right. So, you know, that's what I decided was no longer fit. And at least if you look at the stock market how Groupons performed over the last ten years. I think I was correct. But

What is happening with the Uighurs in China?

"In China's northwestern province of Xinjiang the government has locked up more than a million workers a Muslim minority in a vast gulag. The whole province is a surveillance state within a surveillance state. The government claims it's de radicalizing population prone to separatism. People in Xinjiang in your happy life people call for older to restored each in. China of course, is strongly opposed to any torture and prosecutor and discrimination of any avenue. Good people. This is not the case in. Child. The reality is that it's carrying out crimes against humanity. We're going to take a look at how the repression is tearing families apart and preventing leaguers from even having families. We'll speak. With. googlers forced always to look over their shoulders. And will find deeper complexity in the party's ethnic repression on a visit to a tourist town in south western China. Own. The government is persecuting not only adults but hundreds of thousands of children to. Reporting by the Economist has unearthed government documents that show not de Radicalization. It's a campaign to crush the weaker. Islam. Faith to erase their cultural identity to chip away in their minds and in their bloodlines at what makes them weavers. It's difficult to get firsthand accounts of what's happening. Clearly the weaker inching John are unable to speak. But some brave souls have managed to escape and to tell their story. Our China Affairs at its her Gotti Epstein has been speaking to one of them. Presume Daoud and her three children, Fridays? We're probably the most terrifying day of the week. That was the day when officials would question students and schools in. The interrogators were looking for clues about the students lives at home. They wanted to know whether parents prayed or used Islamic greetings or talked to the children about the Prophet Muhammad. If the answers were in satisfactory they could result in a family member being sent to what they call a vocational training centre. or The camps in Xinjiang New Gulag. One Bologna. Bake. As. Miss Dogwood told me her children would be nervous that they would answer. Wrong. And get her sent back to the camps where she spent two months in two thousand eighteen. Kept. A. Terrible. saw. The Donald Families Experience in this regard is is quite common and Chin John. Absolutely. People Focus when talking about the workers on the detention camps but really Xinjiang is an open air prison. For twelve million dollars, their surveillance both low tech and high tech Miss. Dodd Dawood told me of an APP installed on her phone and where afterwards when she. Used traditional Islamic greeting on the phone. She was called minutes later by her. Local police asked her why she did that. Victim get little bug Emerson S Allama. amendment. Get. Across the region, families will be appointed to write and read articles praising Seton King. Others might have to write and read hands to ethnic harmony and some have to praise other policies that the party is imposing on them including the placement of quote unquote Han relatives in their homes and given that much of this has has come out now in how do officials in an Giang justify that that level of surveillance Chinese officials say that they are doing this in the interests of the weaker pupil they say that they are fighting the three evils of terrorism extremism and separatism. They say, they are making Xinjiang's safer and they say they're making the weaker pupil happier. But in reality, the experience of workers in the camps and even outside the camps is one not of training for the workforce but of indoctrination of trying to strip them of their relief, zero city or of any sort of cultural practices which stripe them as efforts to be distinct and separate from China. So what happens to those who were deemed to broken these many tiny rules? Well, leaguers like Ms Dour are placed in the camps Kerr offenses was for. From Pakistan, where her husband is from visiting. Pakistan. A number of years earlier. Accepting money from a foreigner who has a family friend who lived in China and securing an American visa these are all things that police asked her about a four sending her straight off to a detention camp but she's apparent. I mean what happens to the children of Leaguers who are who are detained? Well, this is the problem that the Communist Party itself is having to face up to because they are struggling to deal with the children of the parents of detained in local work documents that we obtained the officials us a chilling tra- -nology to refer to children whose parents are being held by the state. They're called Don Kuhn or single hardship or swung double hardship depending on whether one or both parents. Has Been sent away and what the documents also reveals that they're struggling to keep pace. They want to place these children in boarding schools basically, and so they have spent a tremendous amount of money expanding boarding facilities at schools across sin John just in the last couple of years, and what are these schools like is not like kids version of the Gulag you described for adult that's not too far off I. mean. These schools many of them have high security fencing and that's even true of free kindergartens and they are places where the kids are kept. These are cited even in state propaganda sort of celebrated. But those kids are as young as months old the propaganda describes as being well fed well, cared for happy learning the national language. Chinese. The point of this propagandist to convey the notion that they are helping the. Wiegert children but obviously, the effect is much different. We've seen testimonies from Chinese teachers who volunteer work in these areas that described children in pretty bleak conditions and in terrible emotional states. But what do you mean by diluting the culture on the surface of it? This just looks like oppression does right and suppression, but it's pressure that's really designed to reduce the influence of the weaker people and even their numbers. Their policies supporting confirming ethic marriage trying to encourage weaker girls when the girl enough to marry Han men and their rewards associated with that those included job of flat or even keeping family members out of camp. And then there are other ways that they're literally trying to reduce the growth at least of the wieger population China enforces limits on families is in John. So women are being fitted with you at a much higher rate than the rest of China. Women with three children, which is the limit in rural. Xinjiang. are subjected to sterilization or a great risk of that. Ms Dawood yourself says, she was subjected to sterilization two thousand eighteen. The most abilities maintenance, this hustle bonetti based. So what do you think is going on here? Any seems the goal for the Chinese authorities is more than simply to to break the spirits of the weaker. I would say the situation meets every category of crimes against humanity literally has been defined by the Rome Statute International Criminal, court have forcible transfer population. You have imprisonment the prosecution against the identifiable group have the enforced disappearance of persons. It's a term that's codified international law and I think it's pretty clear and given that how should the world respond what is to be done about this? The most important thing is that governments need act they should offer asylum seekers. Should sanction officials in Xinjiang that are responsible issue banned goods made with forced labor I most important governments should speak up I think the right moment to call for action. You could see maybe China's cloud cracking a little under the weight of these horrific revelations. There are more people standing up to China and fewer standing with him today. There is a sign of hope for human rights and there is a sign of hope for the oppressed we were people in China.

"Mark will it show continuing into the night here on the sports later the giants again fall earlier tonight by a final of sixty three I continue to pump up the importance of the the rest of this homes had even though on paper doesn't look like anything right another game against the pirates tomorrow afternoon then the Miami Marlins are coming in for three over the weekend you know hold back the excitement but what I mean by that is you very quickly the giants could suddenly slip into a spot where the two thousand wins for boat she gets a little scary and you don't want to do that you don't want to put that on the plate of these young guys were all player you want to get this out of the way as quickly as possible they only need four more wins I and I think if I've got a ride there sixteen more games so they can still lose a lot more than they're going to win and still be five but you don't want that to bleed into the final home stand and if they don't get a little bit more done this week at least two or three more wins then it starts to get a little scary because you're going on the road next week for Atlanta and Boston it's conceivable they don't when a lot of games if any at all during that week so something to keep in mind there again nights like tonight to me they're just about a block and and normally no different than coach a little league team you don't ever get mad at at kids for for physical mistakes you you you you try to call people out for for mental mistakes and I think a lot of what we saw tonight were physical mistakes I don't I don't necessarily see anything mental out there so hard to come down on people for physical mistakes but by the same token Bruce what you call them flat they did not look like they came out dialed in and interested there were odd decisions in my mind like going to rhyme bear claw who hasn't thrown a strike in a week are going to give it a two run game and it indeed did blow up in their face. a bunch of errors you know you have a swipe tag at third base that was a complete way off I mean there were so many physical errors that it it it added up to feel like. some sort of an exhibition and again I liken this earlier to when you go to the office even if you have to just go in there on the weekend or whatever if there's going to be other people there if it's a professional environment you don't go in in your sweats and a and a T. shirt with holes in it because there are people who are getting paid and are paying money to be a part of the operation and you need to show respect for that and I am a believer by the way not a whole like you know dressed for the job that you want not the one you got well the giants got is showing up in sweats today and and there were paying customers yes fewer of them than other now has been all year but there were paying customers there tonight and the look on the baseball field was out was bad news bears ask the good news on the other hand is that tonight shows me that that far Han's ID these the kinds of nights that bolster his power to do what ever he feels is necessary in the off season even if it means moving on from some familiar names I'm really starting to move myself down the road of of feeling like that's becoming more more likely even if it means the giants having the eat eat a bunch of money because the the the empty seats is going to be the thing it's not about whether Farrakhan's ID or anybody else with the team feels like odd they've done enough to check and see if Brandon belt is ever going to be what they hoped he would be that's not it they're going to take the message from the fans and the message they're getting from the fans is. we're kind of done with this we're done with this like the World Series were though those great those gray but it's now been full of five four years since that happened and and we're kinda done with this and so if you're not gonna get it from the guys even though we love those guys we love Crawford in Belton pose even though we love those guys for if it's not gonna work you've got our blessing to go do something different so in that respect it's probably a good thing for Farrakhan's ID all right very much looking forward to tomorrow will will start to get heavy into football as we get closer to the weekend I was reading something from Drake Greenlaw about you know the rookie in his first game last week about how he had to jump in there when kwon Alexander got thrown out of the game of quality great before he got thrown out but you know there are let little things like that but I think our our under discussed that the forty Niners went through in terms of adversity and survived week one road game east coast lots goes wrong. forty Niners win by two touchdowns I mean that's a very significant change to what we've seen the last few years and so props to.

Can I please have free moment? You know, Mark you say quick opening day. You're a bay area guy. Larry I have mentioned coming to the microphone. It's great to have Mark Willard here. Who's praying at this season is not bad. Wise after the games lot of prayer. A lot of a lot of prayer emojis that I've been texting people. Yeah. I never asked Larry this. When you were doing the nighttime. Did you have a one year that was they were really bad where you just had to take a barrage of complaints. Always pretty good. Well, no, they they were competitive ninety seven competitive ninety eight ninety nine, you know, big time winners in two thousand one was the bonds year. Oh to they want to the World Series three. They one hundred games. I would say starting in five they started to go downhill. Okay. So I'll tell you five and you and obviously like I'm telling you something, but you could tell the audience was was different when they're not winning. Right. Well, I was probably more negative than all them. But. Being honest. That's new. What us out meeting the barrage at the time? And what are you getting right now market? We talk about this all the time. The real fans have listened to the game done the game been of the game on their way home. That's the real fan. Yeah. It's it's it's still early. And obviously what we got you know, I did Thursday and Friday after the first two games in San Diego, and they barely scored a run. So there seemed to be some concern. Welcome aboard. And then you know, the weekend happened and still wasn't good. But by the time I got going on on Monday. Even though they lost two three in LA that was a those more encouraging series. I think so San Diego series was depressing, but the dodgers series was really encouraged. Yeah. I mean, they lost two out of three. They easily could have one two to three scored around them. And it was it was competitive. I thought the the LA series was really encouraging because you saw the best team. Maybe the best team in the National League. And you saw the giants at least in a short series go toe to toe with. Yeah. Yeah. They you know, they were right there looks like a giant series, right? I'm in the games were closed. Their pitching held the dodgers relatively check after they score against Arizona. Forty two runs in four game. You know, so. Yeah. That was that was encouraging, and you know, that's only going to last so long moral victories. But Mark, I I'm eighty one and eighty one Larry little bit below. Oh, this Mark Willard, multiple market Willard. What do you say wager? Yeah. Isn't it already on tape on your show? I went eighty two and eighty eighty two and eight so okay. Real giant fans. Never lose. Well, you never know the one thing he don't know. She don't know what maneuvers. Our next guest far Hans ID is going to be able to pull off. There's a lot on them. Cheer based on opening day, and they already looked better with polar. So who knows I still think they and I don't know how we'll see what far on us to say. But I still think if you had one more right handed guy who could maybe hit an extra base hit every now, and then you're gonna put them now. That's the issue now where we can put anybody outfield. I mean, it was so what you gonna platoon. I think long term you probably can only have one of Pablo or Connor Joe. I really believe that that's going to be a tough call. I'm just thinking of the top of my head. You know, it'd be the giant one Representative of the all star game belt belt. You wanna bet one.

"It gets a hit. Batting third is Jared. Karen's long I wanted to say Terrance long. But all of a sudden I froze up Terrence long. He is he he's in so many big plays of as baseball in the past. I remember Derek Lowe punching about to end that series. And then Derek Lowe made that gesture that I've only got everyone crazy. Terrance long. Unfortunately is on the bad end of a lot of plays. But there's also part of some really good as teams just you know, but back to the giants here. That's what everyone wants to hear about the giants spring training baseball. Thank just in case, you're not paying attention sending four seventy eight this spring. He lost eight to ten pounds. He's feeling good. That's good. I wanna see Joe panic play. Well, if he plays. Well, there's a good chance. He gets traded. Yep. On the tax side. Eight three one seven four seven said, I think society is going to prove his worth with the handling of Milan-San panic is longoria contract. Panic is on about a contract. He's an arbitration right now. It's just about what they can get from him. If he can prove to be a really good player again this season OB up designed to decide is he worth keeping and paying or is he worth trading away and getting prospects. I think in his perfect world mad bum shark longoria. Panic Will Smith Tony Watson. These are all guys you can flip and get some protectionism good prospects. And kind of start this thing over again one other name that can be thrown in there. Brandon belt hit safely in his last eight at bats. He is crushing spring training. Which is something. He does you sitting four eighty five right now in spring, and again, Brandon bell is a very polarizing figure to giants fans. Everyone expects huge things. He's a very streaky hitter has just so many fluke injuries that have derailed each season. He's played in. And it always seems like he's about to bust out. And be the guy that everyone wants to see bring up the sexy numbers, but it hasn't happened yet. But here's the thing about Brennan belt. The unsexy numbers are really good. That's the funny thing about for him bell far on Zaidi must love him. He's the perfect type of player for Dr Hans ID number one. Great defensive first baseman, really, really good. Underrated actually also career is over. Yes. Is eight eleven. That's nice. Nice. He has a career over his OPB is over three fifty in his career. That is really good. He drew over one hundred walks in one season. His slugging percentage is always better than people think because maybe his home runs or lower. He's playing an AT and T packbell SBC oracle park, and what he's also eating a lot of doubles triples. Also, his war wins above replacement. I like looking at this his last seven seasons two point seven four point four point nine. But he was injured most of the year three point nine four point three three point zero two point seven that means he is that many wins better than your average first baseman. So let's. Let's calm down a little bit on the belt hate. Yes. He's owed a good amount of money. Yes. Everyone wants to see him guest just have very consistent healthy season. Get over five hundred bath see what he can do. But I am not looking into spring training numbers and saying anything and saying, oh, yeah. Here he comes. It. Just doesn't matter serene. Trading numbers. Don't matter except for when you struggle terribly that kind of matters a little bit. You're like, oh, but as four one five eight one eight says belt, plus string training MVP equals nothing. That's true. They wanna see in the regular season. And I'm going say it right now belt is saying at the same. But I think they'll is gonna have a very big season. And one thing he also is excellent and his telling stories, I don't know if you've heard this story yesterday, he told the Amy Gutierrez on the broadcast but Brennan bellsa missing like half of his right eyebrow. And they had to ask what's up with that? Then he goes. And this is. Very honest. He goes, trimming, my nose hair, and then on it is on eyebrow guard is like, well, I want to cut off the loose straggling hair's just those random hairs on his eyebrows. So he started on his left side is going thin went to us right side and just cut off half of his eyebrow. Yep. That was Brennan belt story. I love it. That's why you love Brian bell. Besides him being a really good baseball player. He's funny. Matt joyce. The giants is brought in Matt Joyce is left handed outfielder does the move doesn't really make sense. Besides them just trying to get more competition in spring training. He's a thirty four year old outfielder bounced around a lot of teams last year hit two oh eight with the as is some lefty pop. It was the year before he had twenty five home runs. Those a good year for match. Always. Then he's let go by the Indians you struggling badly in spring training. You went one for three last debut for the giants. I just don't see it. I don't I don't see him. Really having an impact on this team. They need right handed batters they had to have Cameron babe in right now is the right handed compliment to Stephen Doug and another guys in the outfielder. And and camera may have been hasn't exactly been great. So I'm assuming far Hans ID is still looking on the markets. Seeing what's available, but I wouldn't get to held up on Matt Joyce being a giant, at least opinion and finally Bruce Bochy. Yes. This is his final season. It's crazy to think about the giants without with a different manager is retiring after this season. But this is his last spring training. Isn't that crazy think about how long he's been baseball? And this is his last spring training during the game last night. Crooked type got a chance to talk to both. And here he is reflecting us last spring. Today,.

"On that that clippers Laker call at the end similar Larry Krueger why? You know, I caught a little bit of that Lakers clippers game. I gotta tell you Tobias Harris still got it. I know Tobias Harris no longer member of the clippers. That's just my my Larry Krueger, Vince Carter Dirk Nowitzki. Still got it. Breaking down players who are still around the game. Good morning to you. Happy Tuesday to you Adam couple with you in the leadoff spot. I want to get into some giants baseball stuff. But the the NBA sound coming in prompted me to reflect a little bit on yesterday's game. This Laker thing for me. This bet with paulie MAC Lakers. Not looking good. They lost another one last night to the clippers one thirteen one zero five which is following a Kyrie Irving. Like a post practice press conference yesterday at at USF at war memorial gym. He did a a little presser kind Rippin the media talking about LeBron and mentioned LeBron that the media is questioning his credentials and questioning his body of work. And then LeBron comes out, and does what LeBron does he puts up damn near triple double and the the Lakers loose and actually raise on Rondo did have a triple double in the Lakers lost. So Lakers is not playing good basketball at all right now. I'm not even sure if it's beneficial for the clippers to be winning games as far as whether they're gonna have to do that draft picks swap at the end of the season for the deal in which they acquired or the deal in which they gave up Tobias Harris to the seventy Sixers. They do that. Swap best thing I believe with their first round draft choice, but we're gearing up for the Celtics and the the warriors tonight at oracle arena. Celtics play the dubs top at home in the Brad Stevens under Brad Stevens since twenty thirteen two thousand fourteen or two in three at oracle arena. All three of those losses coming by a combined total of nine point. So I'd expect them to show up. They've got offense of firepower. There are team that's struggling right now. They've lost five of six games. They did lose the Houston on Sunday. And then they want fifteen one zero four they came straight ear to the bay area stayed in San Francisco, and they practiced at USF yesterday. So we do have some sound from Kyrie Irving. We'll get to later in the show and then some stuff from warriors practice yesterday. We're Kevin Durant. Steve Kirk chicken on the Andrew bogut dealings that have been going on. And Steve Kerr saying, hey, they've been talking about it for a while but not much to comment on as of right now. And then there was some speculation from beat writers yesterday as two or so questions being asked us to whether or not Andrew bogut is still the right fit for this team. I don't think there's any question is exactly the type of player. The warriors have been missing. Remember? We talked so much about the like the the seven minutes at the beginning of each half of the six minutes at the beginning of each half that Zaza Pachulia would play where he was just out there to set screens. Not dudes Overby the enforcer. Warriors are lacking that they just don't have that. I love me some kevon looney, but he's a little bit for that. Damian. Jones doesn't have the fire yet. We also don't know where he's going to be when he comes back or if he comes back at the end of the season. So we'll have to we'll dive into some of that warriors stuff. We do have some. Lebron sounds. I'm Steve Kerr's from Kevin Durant. I'll check in on on games and practices from yesterday. And then Durant encour- on the Celtics today. But I do want to hit hit the giants briefly here. Larry baer. The giants announcing yesterday that Larry Baer will step aside from the day to day operations will not act as the face of the franchise at least for the time being Tim Keller had a good piece yesterday where he talked a lot about the the. I don't know the order of operations or the order of hierarchy in the giants organization. They've they've given us that group of people list of executives who will be handling the day to day, which I think then prompts the question, and this is a conversation. We had last week went when Marty was with us on Friday. Remember after the the Bryce Harper dealings went down. And and Larry Baer said, hey, we wouldn't be going after Bryce we wouldn't be doing this. If our Han did want to this is a far Hans ID thing. And Marty kinda came said, well, I don't buy that for a second. And I don't totally buy that first second. I I it's it's a it's an idea that that I think Larry Baer wants us to believe or the giants want us to believe that all the eggs were putting far Hans eighties basket that these are all his decisions when it comes to spending three hundred million dollars. That's not just up to the guy who's making baseball decisions. Right. That's gonna come from from the higher ups. Are you willing to go over the three hundred million? Are you willing to sign a guy to a twelve year deal? Which is what we heard the giants had offered three ten for twelve. So they wanted to make it as though it. It was far Hans decision. But there's got I believe the probably felt like that was a decent direction to go in or he wouldn't have been on board with it at all. But if Larry Baer tells you, hey, you gotta go gotta go sign this guy or we gonna make a hard push for this. We're going out to Vegas multiple times. Then you go and you do it. It sort of brings me to the statement that was given out yesterday that the giants ownership group in the giants corporation or baseball business has decided that Larry Baer will not be the face of it. At least for the time being stepped away to take some personal time within prompted the question for me did Larry Baer have a hand in writing that statement almost absolutely and Dave, and I were kind of joking about it this morning that it's almost like when a manager gets elected. And you gotta you have a bench coaches. They're calling the shots. But then you've got Bobby Valentine back there with Groucho Marx glasses and and nose mustache on. I'd imagine he's still got a hand in in what's happening with the day to day because this is a year of transition for the giants. And as a fan, I think it's a fair question to ask. Ask does any of this affect the operations or or effect for Hans ability to turn this thing around or to reestablish? This franchise is one of the elite franchises on the field in major league baseball. I think that's totally reasonable question to ask what it's the final year of Bruce bocce managerial career at least here in San Francisco and. There may be more. It could be rockier. I guess it could be tougher. If this was the first year if this were next season, and it was the first year of a new manager there might be more questions or concerns for for on the field stuff. But the statement through the assumption that Tim Keller maiden his article yesterday was that far Hans ID will probably be elevated now to not just being the baseball operations guy. But possibly being the face of the franchise when it comes to the big body or the big picture work. And it's only because he may be the right guy or the only guy who's capable of doing that right now. And he cited a comment from Billy bean from last year or say last year, wait in two thousand eighteen what's far Hans ID had taken this position. And it's an interesting comment and a and a good comment and endearing comment from Billy bean about far Farhan, he says, I don't know if there are many executives in our game that combine the two skill sets. That far Hans IT has we usually need including myself, multiple people to do the things that he far Hans. Eighty himself. Can do this charismatic? He says this is a charismatic transformational leader. That's what makes far hunt. So unique some of us make the sausage. And there's some of us that sell the sausage far Farhan can do both. He's literally one of the few guys in this game. Who combines the ability to actually understand and create the analytics with the leadership skills, and the charisma to lead an organization, he might be the only guy, I know who does it at that level. And I think this is coming from a guy and Billy bean who probably could have done that himself. I mean, this is a guy who was given a piece of the franchise over and Oakland a number of years ago served as the general manager, of course, served as a player, he sees all sides of this thing does Billy bean. So I think that's a a a nicer comments, you can make it also should tell you that far is a guy who is prepared to take on this role just talking to him. He's a charismatic is nice guy Mardian, and I got to sit with them at fan fest. And he's not a he's not like, a you get this sort of image. I don't think it's wrong. And maybe it's the fact that he's a New Yorker, maybe it's the. Fact that he's just an older guy, and he's been here for so long Brian savings curmudgeon, right? I mean, anybody who who listened to Ralph Barbieri for years here on KNB are and and the the back and forth. He would have with Brian saving. There used to be. I remember back in two thousand six and seven there were those fire saving shirts with the cartoon photo him. He was just a commodity. And he used to argue used to not really want to give you any sort of information. And I think that comes with being a an executive you can't speak specifically on certain players, sometimes can't speak exactly on what's going on in closed door meetings. But there are times where you got to speak out as a as a Representative of the team and give some straight answers. I felt like far haunt for the most part has done an okay job doing that. He's also very early in his tenure as president of baseball operations. And we'll now at least the assumption is he could end up being the the face of this thing for the time being all right? That stuff out of the way. I do want to talk about what happened on the field for the giants yesterday because we're starting to get a little bit of a weekend to some of these games. Now are with baseball games. We've been over a week. Now, we've got some guys who've gotten a number of at bats Evan longoria went yard again yesterday. And we're starting to see a lot of these bullpen arms. I saw one of the one of the new riders for dot com. Can't find her name right now. Here we go..

"You guys know. So that was actually from the dugout that was the video that was that was put out. From the dugout. I believe it was in Scottsdale stadium where the giants are working out and both she sits down and wasn't a formal meeting. And it was a handful of the regular beat writers. There is some local news. And he made that announcement that that this was going to be it. It's so funny because that statement managed with my gut I think is the one where all latching onto that. We're all saying mad, Bruce bocce. This is what we can all think of those those stomach not moments where boats was calm, cool collected in the postseason. He tabbed the right guys at the right time. He squeeze the most out of every fruit that he got and he got every drop of juice out of it, which is why they got three World Series. I mean, the the management of Jeremy Affeldt and Lopez and cassia and Romo when to put in Madison Bumgarner when to stick with a starter like Tim Hudson or a berries Zito or when to put down a sacrifice bunt Wendy hit run. It's funny because we look at that. Or we hear him say, and we can remember every moment that he's talking about. We think about those gut moments where Bruce Bochy said, I'm just gonna trust my guy. I'm going to trust the guy out there. Between the lines. And I'm gonna go with what I feel like is the right move yet. We've moved into this era of analytic baseball where they'll tell you. That's not the way to manage. You don't manage with your gut you manage with the odds and with the numbers, I think it's a little bit of both somebody else checked in on the tax on four one five says, you can't fire me, I quit is this have anything to do with analytics coachie went on. And we've got some comments on it where he says, it's not so much about the analytics has no I mean, I understand the idea that that far hunt coming in was telling Dave Roberts, you know, which which guys to start or how to make out a lineup or you know, which guy gives you the best odds against this pitcher or this computer says that this lineup is the most optimal for today's game. Bruce bocce, I think it's a combination of that it's still humans playing ball. But it's still a human element to this game. Bonnie Jalen, I yesterday talked about the Evan longoria situation last year where they opened on the road, they came home. And then Evan longoria said it'll be nice to go back out on the road for some of us new guys because there's less pressure when you're. On the road. When you're a new guy right only, a manager can pick up on something like that. Or only a human element can pick up on something. Like that saying this guy needs a break. This has got to lock owner or there's there's a delicate thing to managing a player for a hundred sixty two games over six months. He's it's different than playing football. It's different than going to war with the guy in football. It's different than basketball where you've got the the off season FIBA championships. And the Olympics were all these guys are best buds hanging out with each other all star weekend. It's an entirely different beast you live with these guys for six months for a hundred and sixty two games. So to have a guy like bocce who's got his finger on the pulse of that. And being a former player himself can understand that. It's also why he's the longest tenured manager in major league baseball right now. Now that Mike socia- has has taken a step back the longest in in. The National League is is burst Boji hired in two thousand six for the two thousand seven season the longest in the American League Ned Joost about that took over in two thousand. Ten Ned Joost twenty nine years in the American League. Now, the longest tenured, and if you go and you look through the National League at who else after Bruce Bochy the closest you can get to two thousand six Craig counsel was hired by the brewers in two thousand fifteen about that incredible. So twenty fifteen I we're we're moving into a different era baseball where managers are not going to be these old grizzly veterans anymore. I mean, we're we're we're getting past that. I mean, even I don't even know where they go after this. I'm not sure it it sort of shed some more light on what they were doing last year bringing in David bell before things went awry with with Bobby Evans, and they decided they had to go in a different direction with the front office and removing Bobby Evans from general manager. Hiring far Hans ID is the president of baseball operations. I think he's is what gave David bell the idea that. Hey, I should I should probably had out because I think the speculation last year when David bell was brought in to be the head of player development, or whatever his role was in the organization. I think that's what he was doing develop. Players. Keep an eye on the minor leagues. These speculation was that he at one point would want to be a manager in that. Maybe that's why the giants have brought him in. He would be the next manager of the San Francisco Giants once you make a front office change, and you tell the new president of baseball ops. He's got the option to come in and make a decision on his own. I think all that changes. So David bell actually did get hired as manager of the Cincinnati Reds. And you can't hang around. You can offer a managerial position you can't just hang around. And hope that something that you assume his communist coming. I would assume that bam. Bam Hensley Meulens will be one of the front runners. He's he's was a favourite ticket that Yankee job before Aaron Boone came out of nowhere and got it. He's managed or or he's managed the Netherlands in the world baseball classic. He's also speaks a dozen languages. He's got tons of experience. I think he's a player's guy. He's also what are the younger guys? So it's going to be all up to two hundred eighty two tab, the next manager of the giants. But there's a good chance that it could be. Bam. Bam Ulan is just speculation on my part, though. As far as what we've been hearing within the organization six five zero says, bam bam better not be the replacement or Bruce Bochy need an experienced manager. I don't think that's the case. I really don't think. That's the case you look around baseball. You look at which teams have been the most successful lots of times. It's first time managers. Look what the Yankees did. And I know they've got a lot of talent we got Aaron Boone there who's a first time manager you look at the Milwaukee Brewers what they did the last year and the last two seasons Craig counsel of first time, and you're not a first year manager a first time manager, I'm not I'm not sure you go get I don't really want. Mike Metheny things didn't go well for Mike the Fenian Saint Louis, and we're gonna have a lot of time to speculate on who the next manager is going to be but to immediately say, I don't want bam. Bam. You know, if things were if things go well this year, what if the giants do make a bit of a run, and I'm not saying they will ninety or ninety games with the giants. They went eighty four games. That's an improvement. That's a jump up from where they were last year. Do you say we just ripped the top off this thing getting entirely new? Coaching staff. I can't imagine. That's how it goes. That's not how the giants have done business in the past. I there's a guy over at Oakland. Bob Melvin and just signed an extension. I know he would have been the attractive choice. The as are not gonna let him come over into an interview for that job, nor do I think he would have signed an extension had even planning to do something like that. They got a third base coach over there. And Matt Williams got a handful of guys across baseball that could be interesting options or maybe it's somebody. We haven't even heard of yet. Maybe it's a name like a Dave Roberts a guy who wants to manage a guy who is who's moldability by far Hans ID who could be the next guy. So ninety five says, I can see Mike Metheny coach and the giants. Yeah. Just I mean, we love our former giants. But again, I think that we've got to start to erase the idea that this is the Brian Sabin regime right while he's still in the front office. I don't think we can start to calculate the way they will go about their off seasons or their coaching searches the same way they have since since Brian CBS took over in nineteen Ninety-six. Incredible. For me to think though that in thirty years since nineteen Eighty-nine this will. Just be fifth giants manager after this season. You figure the Humby, and you go to dusty and you go to Philippi. And then you go to to Bruce bocce so four managers in the last thirty years, not many other franchises across sports. Maybe the Pittsburgh Steelers can say that right? Four coaches are managers over the last thirty years. We've got some more bocce sound coming up on the other side. And also some good fun. Steph curry stuff, we'll keep taking your texts and your calls eight awake. Camby arts a good day for for reflection on Bruce Bochy and thoughts about the future of this team. More coming up. It's a Tuesday.

"Earlier. Now, he's kind of tweaking some things, you know, you always want to get better. So for me, I was kind of seeing how not worried about launch angle stuff. I want to be the gap to gap guy that I am no health does have a big effect on up. I do want to try to make some tweaks here and there L we'll see in spring training. How those tweaks came come out. Joe panic, gap the gap. Chris Shaw looking to leave the yard. Brandon Crawford just looking to pick. It. It's getting me in the baseball mood here. Give it up guys Chris Shaw. Brandon Crawford Joe panic. We're one more segment with you guys wanna hit sort of broad general baseball questions, but just a little bit about your team. And we talked about bomb and there were rumors that he was on the trade blocker. He wasn't or he was on the trade Walker. He wasn't given what you know. Brandon have many teammate forever and BUSTER had a comment yesterday said, hey, did you guys talk to bum? And BUSTER said nobody talks to bum in the off season. Is that accurate? And so these trade rumors are just like he's in. He's in the woods and North Carolina. And nobody's talking about. Yeah. It's pretty accurate. Think you bum? Kind of goes off the grid enough. But I mean, nobody nobody involved with the giants would want to see them get traded. I don't think so. Simple as that leads to kind of the big question. We haven't asked and that is the change at the top far Hans ID comes in. And you mentioned analytics and getting information from the analytics department and again starting with you as the elder statesmen, Brandon you've known Brian Sabin and Bobby Evans for a long long time. But that news goes down. Here comes the young man at MIT, he's from the dodgers and the as and he walks in two hundred year reaction and have you had a chance to talk to him. And what changes you think you.

"Us great content every Tuesday and Thursday despite nothing going on in the off season. It's always fun. Just to talk to Mike about baseball in life and everything, but Mike we have a present for you today. The line. We have a transaction and it was actually broken by our own Larry Krueger shadow to crew, so Mike drew Pomeranz a former all star. And a guy, you know, from the San Diego Padres signs for a very team friendly one point five million dollars one year deal. And it looks like we're starting to see far Hans ID's. The philosophy get to work, which is stack lefties stack trade pieces and stack some talent so Mike good morning and all your thoughts. Yeah. Good morning. Well, one thing we found out with this acquisition. This. He likes left-handed curve balls. Do you think about what the dodgers had on their staff last year with Kershaw hill? And would and you reassess those are really good left handed curve balls Pomeranz. In oakland. So he knew all about him. And he is I mean, he's a he's a three pitch guy, basically. But with a lot of deception is delivery out the fastball. You can spot the fastball up and down and still get swing through with it. Really another good curveball from a almost a high three-quarter release which got lots of tilt. And the guy was something to prove. I mean, he had a great year two years ago. And and then last year we had some problems in his elbow. Apparently, if you're reading same articles, I am he said last year he didn't prepare like he normally did he he kind of took the advice of the Red Sox and save themselves. They got the spring training. And when he got their like was behind all year, and it kinda snowballed into some arm tendinitis in his elbow and anyone kind of a an off year. So he's coming back. This year was something to prove. And I liked that mentality. But again, the style the type of picture that is another big curb ball guy from the left side. So I I find that interesting. He's thirty years old bike. He's got great pedigree. He was he was a top draft pick coming out of ole miss and and yet he's been traded a fair amount. Like, for example. Four times. Thank you. Bye. Jill. Yeah. So does that say something about a guy when he gets traded four times? Can it can say the, you know, not a good guy. He he's not a personal teammate or whatever. But when you see a front office sky reacquire a player, and that to me tells you everything, you know, about the guy the guy's a great guy. The guys a hard worker. The guy is he's stellar especially a new general manager in a new city or president. I should say as far on is. He knows all about him. And he couldn't wait to get to get this guy. I think they've been negotiating this Royal and just the current market has allowed Jackson opportunity to get this guy. I think under normal circumstances. I mean, he's a guy who's going to get a three year deal for, you know, twelve fourteen million bucks a year not happening this year. So it really has become very opportunistic for a lot of organizations that I think four hundred took advantage of this. But I'm thrilled to get this guy back. In a or to get him in a giants uniform because of all that he represents thrower bigger ball tough has something to prove. I love all those things. So I think it's a great add, by the way, just getting back to that thread that you and and us in Dwayne all discussed about players not being happy Pomeranz made eight point five million last year. And I know he came off an injury. But for it to fall down to one point five million just shows, you what this markets liken. I understand why the players must be it's great for the giants were happy and everything. But for Pomeranz. I mean, he like you said he was expecting a lot more. Well, and I think you're gonna see more and more of this. With the giants as they go forward. If you have a guy like Pomeranz, who's got a great pedigrees had a great career and also has an off year. Well, if he's coming out as free agent, she obviously found out that he didn't have a lot of marketability. I think it had everything to do with the fact that he had some problems last year or some arm problems. Well, what better place to go to then San Francisco, which is a very pitcher friendly environment. You have a great defense behind you. Allows you the opportunity to to recreate yourself to to make yourself marketable for the next year. So I mean, I see more and more of this. But again, I I liked the fact of the Jasser lengthening out they've got depth and they have options, but a lot of those options. Now from the left side is that to me is intriguing. It is intriguing in one more just on the left east thing. Just kind of how it stacks up is is a staff heavy with lefties a problem for for for example, the giants I mean, they're so left-handed heavy that it is a problem when you face the dodgers, and they come at you with review and Kershaw hill is generally a rule and a good rule in baseball to overload on lefties. It doesn't matter if you can get right. He's out if he's got something in his arsenal to get right? He's out. I don't think it's an issue at all. I mean, look at Will Smith. I mean and never ever considered him a left handed specialist because he has the ability to get right enters out in what did that do for him? Well that allowed him to climb up the ladder and in nest in the in the closer role. It's because he could get ready. And so I think that's thing. You look at it. I think you look the track record at whatever left handy left-hander your evaluating. And if he's got a good track record of getting ready. That's not even an issue. Yeah. So drew Pomeranz joins the squad. He is. Of course, a former all star. And as we said, you'll get his two thousand seventeen season where he went one hundred and seventy three innings with one hundred seventy four strikeouts in the IRA in the threes. A A F I P three eight three point eight four. If that's what you want to go with a whip of one point three five, so a pretty effective stuff. And with with Derek, Holland all of a sudden they're rotation. Looks a lot different than it. Did. Over the holiday season, Mike USA somewhat. Yeah. I think to you wanna point you bring up Derrick hall, and what is the one thing that we all really appreciate from Derek, Holland is that he's versatile last year. He pitched short relief. He pitched middle relief. Spots started any finally found a home in the rotation and cover the same guy. And I think you're going to see more and more of this as the giants go forward with with Iran. I mean, he he likes versatility in not just pictures, but players as well, they if they can do other things if they can feel comfortable in other roles, those are assets feathersintheir caps, and that's exactly what palm ranches. So speaking of Zion. You mentioned him. He did comment on a couple of other issues. He says he's still is aware that they need outfielders. And he's actually says he feels kind of optimistic about it. Mike. How fans I think are starting to get a little sweat on the forehead about the outfield situation. But how do you feel about Zaidi's saying he feels like he's got some good leads? Well, you can say that because there's guys out there. They're they're players out there that would look tremendous in a giants uniform. They would give instant credibility to the outfield defense answer the offense if they were to decide and what we're seeing with Palmer. Some deals out there. And I think if you're in in France position where you don't have quite the the money say that the White Sox have I mean, you can still get a quality player that could give your your your lineup. Some credibility. Guys out there so between now and and the first pitch of the season. I think you're gonna see a lot more players coming in. It's interesting because the giants are all maxed out with forty minutes. It's gonna be interesting to see what they do if they do make an acquisition of an outfielder or two or three what they do with the roster as the forty minutes four right now. Awesome, Manchester that giants could possibly check back in on some higher market guy. Like a Harper Machado. Do you see that happening or maybe more of a middle tier Adam Jones or AJ Pawlak? Absolutely see that happening. I mean one thing about about Larry Baer and the giants in the giants ownership meeting today, they are not afraid to make a splash. They are not afraid to go into the the free agency market in and spend. And I think with with the fact that some of these players who are out there right now what they had envisioned for themselves. Contractually? Those bubbles have cut have been burst. And now there are deals to be had. And I think when that happens it brings everybody in baseball back into the fray in order to bid. I if you're not worried about having to spend seven eight year of money for seven or eight years, and you can get a quality player for three or four years. You might see the judge get right back into it. And get one of the big fellas. I mean, we're kind of seeing that happening as as the the market approaches. The the bell ringing day the pitchers and catches first day. Guys are going start pulling the trigger. They're going to start signing for less. So I think once that happens, then you can't discount anybody you can consider everybody is still out. There is still a possibility for the giants aside. Boy, if you look at their spot track salary they're committed one hundred and sixty four million on the payroll right now. So there is room to still stand in luxury tax and do that. And by staying into the luxury tax last year. They gave themselves the freedom to actually go over the luxury tax. If they want to this year without any severe penalties talking to my crew on the guest line that drew Pomeranz signing at a very low cost. Boy when you look at some of the salaries, and you look at some RJ nineteen point eight million and DJ Johnny Cueto at twenty one million. You start thinking just the timing of when you sign is everything in the market was different back, then so the giants right now or the players right now signing for a lot less Mike, I say Marga he also commented on him. And I know you haven't seen them. So you can't speak to his how he looks fastball. Looks or anything but just interpreting his comments he said he's on schedule now to go to camp. Camp, and he's on scheduled to be healthy. But he added, but he's not a guy I can pencil in for thirty two starts right now. What's your interpretation there? Well, I think that's pretty much what what's going on. I mean, we've heard reports from the giants. Trainer. You know, he's smart. Just don't everything he needs to do. He's strong. He's in tremendous shape. His arm feels great. He's long stretch it out. But it's not the same thing as when you start cranking up your arm to get ready to pitches a starter every fifth day..

"Basketball question last time. I came to practice. I was complimenting you on your Rick James because I love Rick made a Rick James saw for you give it to me. Well, that's it. That's where it was. I didn't go with the full clay inflection. But I was going in that direction and cope you, and I did a lot of clay voice yesterday. We were texting Klay voice to each other. We that's true. Conversation in clay voice last night. When I go to practice if Polly's watching I don't like to miss I wanna make them all hitting the rim. So we did the cell phone ears of the day for hearing short beers. Yeah. Because he goes I love Rick James. Where it was almost slipped into full Klay mode right in front of Kevin Durant. I did a song for you by Rick James. It went well for one five says little Kim's best song is called eat my. Oh boy. Okay. Well, I can't read the rest of that eve. My apple pie. I stayed off it copes. You don't need to jump in. What sorelle? I got to Nikon laughing. Sixers I would love bobblehead of you guys along with some juice on a beautiful Friday morning standby severely handicapped right now with the lack of headphones. Hold on let guys drink is juice. Okay. Sounded okay. Juice. Says I support it. That is a Klay Thompson cadence in Polly's later saw for UK d you went wealth four hundred. Says a third four eight says has Katie seen a recent picture a little Kim? I don't think he'd want that damage. That's exactly what I said. Eight one ace's Murph you use the phrase break balls. Can you use that in today's day and age, or is it a micro aggression? I got to tell you the truth now since it got brought back you did use the phrase break balls, and it was so it actually I thought it was very funny because it's so frowned upon that you can't say break ball. So when you said that I was like, well, that's that's well placed as a well placed break ball could. Now, you can seven seven says man, K D out. Man. I don't wanna hear that. I don't think that's true. Not after the relationship we've forged with Murph and MAC what's up man KB four two forces. I'm going to go in and say, Katie will add a third straight player of the euro ward. Eighty out or I don't know because I feel like we're gonna have to do a makeup avalanche votes for George Kittle. Is there another? After the after the score after this Spielberg like snub of of George Kittle atrocious. That'd be the biggest one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made. Shame to be an Argonaut. It really is bad. Four one five says we here at iron springs are waiting for your bobblehead. And so is original Joe acceptable. I I guess I gotta carry that one mostly for the iron springs guys because I live right up the street at three one offering a foursome at Pebble Beach for a Murph and MAC again. You better take that by the way? Anybody in the audience, seventy Grateful Dead tickets for sure. I can make some happen, by the way. Katie said, oh, man. His multiple seven of seven to nine says you little Kim. Now think Sammy Sosa twenty nine hundred. Aw, man. That's a tough deal. Feel bad. Now have his dream. Did I? And and then seven oh, seven rounds out the segment per saying. So is this far Han guy going to do anything? All right. So that he'd go probably a little little little self a little comedy, speaking of the Farhan, God, he will be joining us on the other side as we re rack the far Hans ID conversation. You're going to enjoy it very much..

"Twenty minutes tie block is gonna jump in as well. Looking forward to talking with him. And I tell you what. Get nervous if maybe everybody else's make it a lot of moves. But that's not the case either. And we know that Bryce Harper and Manny Machado or kind of they're just kind of holding everything up kind of holding everything up to the point. Where do we ever talk about it in these terms with free agents almost feel like it's gotten rude. It's kinda gotten rude on the part of Harper Machado because I mean, how many different meetings could they be having. I feel like baseball and Farhadi sort of he addressed this earlier this week. Hey, showman with a good article in the chronicle about it. He said, yeah, it seems like it's taking longer and longer in in baseball. And I tell you what NBA NFL they've got it figured out. You just get a flurry of information all at once everybody take a meeting at the end of the meeting. Here's all I'm gonna go sign with. It's not like that in baseball. But I want to remind everyone, and we welcome your input on anything. Giants this hour eight oh, eight can be our four one five eight eight can be if you want a text in as well, if if you don't wanna call success can be boring sometimes success can be a little bit boring. I mean, think of the Spurs think of the patriots it can be a little bit boring sometimes. So if that's what you're trying to build. You don't necessarily want. Just give me the splash. Give me Mr. right now. No, no. I'll wait for Mr.. Right. Think about it this way and a couple of quotes to pass along to you from far Hans ID he said we are going to make quote one good baseball move after another one good baseball move after another. That's all we're going to build the team, not one massive move. Not one big trade. One. Good baseball move after another change, the culture. And he also still sees a quote, deep pool of free agent pitchers and outfielders. All right. So the waiting games, not your thing. Right. Waiting is boring. I get it. But think about right now what we're all doing. And I was actually just going on a walk through union square about an hour ago. And there's a lot of people out about while. They're they're taking a lot of decorations down at is still a lot of people popping around and all the stores. Why I'll it's pretty simple, right? Sometimes the longer you wait the better deal. You get you had your eye on a on an ugly Christmas sweater. And then you never got around to going over there to pick it up at the store. And then what happens you go back this week to present off? Four hundred Saudis probably doing the exact same thing. Why haven't they traded a Watson or a Will Smith as of yet? Well, if you got a lot of major if you've got a lot of major relievers big-name still out on the market, all wait, simply wait, simply wait for those guys to sign, and then now, whoever is whoever's feeling pretty desperate to get a reliever now they need to give up that much more. So I get what he's doing. Now also wondered about this, and I and hit me up on this one at eight, oh, it can be our. Kruger tweeted out the other day saw this over the holidays. Everybody knows this is a rebuild except for the giants. And they need to wrap their head around that I wanna I wanna pull apart this word for a second the word rebuild. Oh, it's like a cuss word in sports. Isn't it? Use that word around me rebuild. Are we always rebuilding all the time? Isn't every team even the most successful ones? Rebuilding all the time. Bob myers. The other day talked about how. They would have liked to have brought in more centers. Now in hindsight for the warriors. So we're always rebuilding all the time. I need to rebuild some more space in our house because of all the new gifts that came into our house last week with all the kids, for instance, it's always going to be something that's on the move. I don't think that this is such a swear word that we need to be so frayed of. I missed the update where rebuild automatically meant stink to high heaven at the same time. It doesn't have to mean that I get tear down. Now. There's a phrase I would wanna stick stay away from tear down. We're giving everything away or going out of business were starting over from scratch. Rebuild is something that every team needs to be doing at all times. And so while we don't know exactly what this is all gonna look like going into this season. I wouldn't be so frayed of that word. Yeah. Four hundred is gonna rebuild some things you us the last few years, there's some things that need rebuilding. But my guess my bet and we'll talk to Alonzo Powell and tie block and many others about this throughout the week. And throughout the weeks to come for sure. But my bet is while they're in the process of rebuilding some things the conversation is not necessarily about over by the way, why we're doing this. Let's tank let's get a top five draft pick every year. Trafton baseball doesn't necessarily work that way doesn't need to work that way. So the word rebuild. I don't think it's such a cuss word. I don't think it's so scary. Alonzo Powell the hitting coach starting last year for the giants is gonna join us coming up next time block in in a little bit. He'll join it about seven thirty five joy to Lewinsky is a Yankee the giants had some interest. That's not happening and a name that another major league baseball team might be interested in with the giants. The question is what the giants be interested in dealing and we'll get to all of that coming up this hour also play of the day, and it has everything to do with Thai black do you remember back to more optimistic times you remember opening day Dodger Stadium last year? It was block versus Clayton Kershaw. And it went the giants way..

"I don't I'm not concerned about him. Only throwing you know, two hundred combined innings over the last two seasons after three. Throwing two hundred every season before that. I'm more concerned about his actual performance in those two hundred innings because you know, if you give him one hundred eighty innings next year, what kind of quality are those one hundred eighty innings going to be. Yeah, I agree. Well, his preferred certainly have fallen off. And after I think it was six consecutive seasons of two hundred or more. He has been in one hundreds the past couple years because of that injury in part. So he doesn't quite come with the durable. Were course, who's guaranteed to give you two hundred label anymore in as tech mentioned the efficiency within those innings has tailed off to ease. Less stuff. Doesn't throw quite as hard as you Stu, obviously he is seen as the ultimate gamer and clutch playoff guy. And the question is do you bet on that being a predictive quality? If you are a team that expects to be in the playoffs or you're going to pay more for Bumgarner because of his playoff record or you're going to trust that he can duplicate that in your uniform. I don't know, but. The other really interesting aspect of this to me is far Huns eighty and can he come in with have the courage? I guess are the boldness to come in. And immediately dismantle the remnants of the championship giants teams because you're in a tough spot where the giants probably should rebuild as much as any team. Should they probably should turn the page on those teams? But that's always a tough thing to do in for a new executive to come in and say, not only are you going to be bad now. But you are not even gonna get to watch the guys who remind you of when you work that is a tough thing to to come in before your team is even played a game in and start tearing it down, even if it's one of those things where you know, if you're selling to a fan base. I think most giants would would agree with that assessment of the team that it's time to start taking this team apart. You know, this is sort of what not to bring everything back to the Phillies. But this is what what they did in twenty thirteen fourteen. They never trade. A cliff? They waited years and years to trade Rollins not lead. They never traded. Ryan howard. They took until twenty fifty to trade to trade Cole hamels, and those were those were tough things to to swallow a fan, even if you know that it's that it's good for the team the long term. But you know, I think this this honestly might be one of the vantage of bringing for Hans ID's. He's going to be he has no connection to those teams. He's going to be completely on sentimental about it. So he's, you know, got no reason to to hang onto. Brandon Crawford or Bumgarner. I think the I think you're going to be okay. As as, you know, in terms of not having unrest in the in the streets, San Francisco as long as you don't trade BUSTER Posey. But this it's interesting because like Goldschmidt Goldschmidt is the I would say the best position player. Maybe the best player overall in Diamondbacks history, and Bumgarner has had so many iconic even before twenty fourteen has had so many moments in that giants uniform it's hard to imagine playing anywhere else. Here's a here's a stat to supplement. What I was saying for or so fan graphs tracks with a call pitch values where they basically look at how effective each pitches, and categorize them by type so from twenty thirteen to twenty sixteen one Bumgarner was at his best. He had over those for years the third best fastball. Among all starting pitchers numbers one and two or Kershaw. Scherzer's. So that fits he is one of the best fastballs in baseball over the last two seasons. His fastball has accrued. D- below average results each season..

"All right. We will get into the warriors at today, but it is a big day again to review far kind of unusual to have so much baseball on November seven and eight. But hell it was a big big big seismic day giants history. So I want to get into some Zaidi. Yeah. They told us it's Zaidi tidy. So I guess it's kind of kind of rolls off the tongue. I'm glad we were told. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Doing his thing. I had heard Tolbert on yesterday in the face off with fits in the car a lot lately. Probably not getting that coveted nap driving around a lot. I've been there homie. I know. And I heard the afternoon nap away your entire like physicality starts to change because I've missed Knopfler bunch. Suddenly, you're like some other guy your physicality stuff you're under slept. You're sore. I got aches and pains. Zeal you turn into an angry animal an animal like a sasquatch. Have you? Are you have you Napper now? Or are you getting into it or? No, I take naps. Yeah. Yeah. And then, but I work out. So that kind of helps me get through my way and get you know, you can get your balance work out. All right. That means after working at you, don't nap. Now, I kinda jacked up after I work out. And then I take a little nap hour nap, and I'm into like, the the I found the sweet spot to be fifty to fifty five minutes. How about you copes given that you do the fricken leadoff spot. Napper? I don't have any day of the week. You crash early. Right. That's eight thirty out here. We're looking at looking at twenty nine year old man there. Yeah. Up up at three in bed at eight thirty you need less sleep, you need less. Yeah. In better young. Dude last night in his time changes like the, you know, the our earlier last night. I was I was petering out at like seven thirty. I was to actually. She's a. Now, how are you on Friday nights? I'll Friday's the worst needs to don't beers. And then do ten o'clock. I hit a wall. Again. Yeah. Friday wall Friday Friday. It's a weekend cited for all. Right. Speaking of amped up most giants fans pretty amped up. I haven't gone to the text line yet today. But I I would imagine most people were pretty happy with the way far Hans ID expressed himself and handled himself. I guess copes you I heard you read a couple of negative tax like the one guy who said his talk with Boji was just making an excuse to blame the managers. Come on come on, bro. I got a three response to that techs come on, bro. So anyway, here's far and it started with Larry Baer talking about a two hour meeting turning into a six and a half hour meeting. We had an initial meeting on Friday, and for some we met last Friday, and we set it up as we have with other candidates for initial two hour block, the two hour meeting with six and a half hours, incredibly engaging incredibly transformational thinking and beyond far hands very impressive intellect way. I felt and then others verified when we did reference checks and others when they interviewed him is that brings a great balance. To his view of the game and his love for all elements of the game. And the way elements come together to produce success by what an impressive intellect you have said who's that little red riding hood or whatever. So having a six and a half. It was the last time you had a six and a half hour, sit down six and a half hour anything. I mean. Six and a half hour. I don't know we do it wouldn't work. It's just too much you fly. If if you if you're on a plane like from New York to San Francisco like six and a half and by the time, you're so pissed at the guy next to you in the in the especially when you're my size with long legs. It's I'm constantly irritate. You'll see soon, buddy. Jo you can look forward to my ear at ability. Oh. I am like that too. I walk around the plane. I do everything I can to get out of my seat. Those seats are not made for guys are size and just not if someone on the middle seat leaning too much. This is not a wine airlines. Everybody's comfortable and Hawaiian airlines. All right on the back and start to get friendly with all the flight attendants, you'd be some more juice. Let's talk gets up and stretches I knew it half. Do we know? Why could? Well. Yeah. I had good for you. So I had a back surgery years ago, and one of the things might if apparently the sitting upright position is one of the most harmful positions for my injury, which is a herniated disk because all the weight is going on that lower disc of your upper body. So they gotta get up stretch. Take the weight off, you gotta you gotta move around. So I do. Yeah. That's it. They always want to stretch I ever started staring. While seat first off, you always gotta go while seats. You see paulie at an airport not settle until he gets the best seat. I start making moves he's kicking out. None. Excuse me, ma'am, assured Paul you'll be sitting in the best excuse me sister. Can you can you grab your habit and moved to a different seat? I got stretch my ass out his New Yorker, although I'd say the six and a half hour meeting getting back to Zaidi is that I would imagine they were at the Beverly Hills hotel spread out across comfortable couches with jugs of lemonade and water and cookies and all that you know, what I mean, so fix them lemonade. Yeah. Right. And cookies lemonade. Yeah. So now bear says transformational thinking that was the one that kind of jumped out at me there guys and then Zaidi comes on Zaidi. Yeah. And he he just begins thrown. He knows what to do many through flowers to the fans telling us, he's telling us how awesome we more. Yes. Last time..

"And if they do that they could have a great chance to win as long as they're good defensively. If the defense isn't there like it wasn't last night. And tonight, it's also going to be an issue. But I think if you see a good defensive game that you worked account versus price, and you and you hit him early. Then I think it's called accused for a dodger win, do you believe in Clayton Kershaw if when he gets an opportunity to go out there and a big game again in the series. Yes. I think he's going to pitch in game five and he's gonna throw a gem in that game. When you're gonna be back at home. He's not going to be in the cold. He'll get better defense and behind him. 'cause when that home it's not that teeny tiny ballpark that they're in. And it's he's gonna pitch much much better there, and you're going to see another win because remember last year he pitched seven strong innings of eleven strikeout ball in game one of the World Series against the Astros. And then they lost the entire series, partly because of him of other reasons, but you can lose game one and still win the series talking to Greg Bergman here on the show on Twitter the opposite way at Bergman, Greg. It's where you can find his really really fun, really really cool. Very very informative postgame show. He's a post game host for dodgers nation. Greg. Andrew Friedman, the president of ops for the dodgers the GM plus and far Hans ID the actual GM. Those guys have not been there for the entire six year round of the dodgers have won the NFL west and they're trying to get over that line and win a World Series. It's the dodgers fan. Again, and there in the World Series there in the World Series the second consecutive year. But if they don't get done, again, are there any kind of changes in any kind of consequences any kind of move as Dave Roberts or something else that seismic as as a result of yet again coming up short. I mean, I really don't think so just because interfering and four hundred eighty have done everything that they act that they need to do one of the deepest teams in all of baseball where they can do. This matchup baseball that they love to do with having entire righty lineup. Bringing a whole bunch of lefties when the Red Sox bringing their right handed relief relievers. They've got Manny Machado. They got Brian dosier. Starting tonight dot Ryan Madson. They went in got the guys that you want them to get last year, although it didn't work in the World Series. You Darvish was the prize of the trade deadline. They went out and they got him. So they make the moves that need to happen in Manny Machado is now a dodger right now, it's a huge. Thing. And when it comes to Dave Roberts. There's only been three other managers total in dodgers history that have gone back to back World Series. And Dave Roberts is she is just basically a guy that gets along great with the with the clubhouse understands what four hundred eighty Andrew Friedman wants and make sure that they can that. He does what they what they want to make sure that he does he gets waited across on the game. So neither none of these guys are going anywhere. You've gone to the NFC S three years in a row and the World Series two years in a row that doesn't call for a firing. Greg. Bergman is Manny Machado dirty player. Yes. He has a dirty player. Do you want to be a daughter next year because we Jerry Hairston junior on the show, and he thought that Machado had really cost himself money and opportunities, and he said that you heard from five ball clubs five that we're going to kick the tires on Machado in the season Machado, a free agent and aren't going to anymore. Your do you want to be a dodger next year? It really depends on it depends on the cost you the dodgers because they stayed over under that one hundred ninety seven million dollar basically cap that the repeater tax that they had they stayed under. So now, they're not under any repeater tax whatsoever. So they have the money they can do what they want. But he's gonna cost two hundred fifty to four hundred million dollars. And yes, he is a jerk on the field. He is a dirty player. He does what he needs to get done. And you have Cory Seager coming back who is there sort stop with the future and Cory Seager is a hell of a ball player where a guy. Yeah. Exactly. He's going to be an MVP at some point in his career. So I don't know if you've moving him from shortstop is the right idea. We all forget about it. I you know, every game I go. And I look at who the pitcher is I you know, put like Chris sale verse dodgers. And I see what the stats look like almost every game Cory Seager batting four hundred against this pitcher. It's crazy. He's a he's unbelievably really good. So I don't think it's necessary to bring it back. I think he's gonna cost too much money. I don't think they've want to bring him back. I think he's going to go to somewhere. The Yankees really seem like the place for him Didi gregorius just going to Tommy John shortstop, it just seems perfect. Yeah. Make them even less like are, Greg Bergman twenty seconds, twenty seconds. Give me your prediction World Series two thousand eighteen how it ends. How many games looks like the dodgers are gonna win the series in six they're going to win tonight six to three in LA, and they win it all in Boston or replaying that either way brother. Because you gotta right, Greg Bergman great stuff, man..

"You know you if you start dealing with those and if you're yao seattle becomes more than it is right now it's just it seems like just kind of a of a minor issue that could be rail how things are going pretty quickly in joy and we're talking to joe davis and sports net la who had a crazy weekend but to see some really good day man um joe you mentioned jack petersen and i've been tough on him because i've been pointing out that since he came up he's been excellent defensively great power number's but that his batting average has always stunk if i'm going to be fair here since he came off the disabled this two weeks ago he sitting 340 so so peterson is starting to hit which was the one thing he wasn't doing before so to joe's point as long as peterson's plan like this not only have a great defensive centerfielder but you have somebody that that's a doing some damage at the plate joe let me ask you this the dodgers an office is our very smart active guys they kind of heavy a think tank with andrew friedman in for hans id and in a bunch of other guys in that in that room so i'd be surprised if they did nothing at the trade deadline but having said that do they have an obvious weakness on this team like if you're trying to improve it i won ten games and rosie can final at a fault with them what area do you think they might look at article thirteen is going to be on the table gurney contender i think um you know you early on he would have better righthanded outfield bat to help good lefthanded pitcher timber i think they're court clean and nine now against lefthanded starter so that kind of died uh now there is no obvious need i think that others with starting pitching thing and then you would always any contender while the a bolster the starting it shouldn't you'd like to be able to bolster the late innings of the game to bridge too kindly janssen as well and the dodge of open spend great so far but i don't think you never have too many pieces at the back into football.
