"But they make it clear that there's sa- powerful forces that are going in other directions in hockey talking and the two that they single out or eddy. Arnold who kind represents the crooner pop side of country and bill known his The traditional side country evolving into bluegrass. Which is the most radical form of country. So it's really interesting. I actually meant to start with his. Tom t hall quote thompson hoses great quote. He's talking about bill Row which is that he believes cosmic forces visit the planet in the form. By way of human beings is the way. Phrases at any any describes as a cosmic force. And i just think that's so perfect because you know with the show and everything. I'm trying to do what edward talking to do. Which is look at these things a a sociological aspect. Look at the audience. Look at the technology. Look at the the economy but when you're talking about music you're ultimately going to have to bow to talent and people like bill monroe and eddy arnold and hank williams attic cosmic forces a great way to describe that level of talent. That's you gonna be an impact. As long as hank williams was in the music business he was gonna have a massive impact You know just because of the raw talent and and bill monroe and and eddy. Arnold had that very much in common. One thing i liked about this was they make it very clear. That eddy arnold is the pop guy. And he's a contrast to the hard core tubs and hank williams but they also like playing cabot call. When you hear him during those hardcore yadel's he got that from jimmy. Rogers it's fascinating to made the jimmy. Rogers is definitely the forefather of the honky-tonk side but he's also the forefather of the whole western side. The whole gene autry eddy arnold tradition. And i just love seeing those threads connect where he got it from a. I mean eddy. Arnold did yodel from jimmy rogers but even that early in the game you can kind of tell eddie.

"Favorite rocking chair. And my favorite rocking chair. That's how much is the price on it. It's Hank Williams rocking chair. $10,000. I sit in it every time I go over and rocking it very comfortable rocking chair. Of course, you know we're not doing that right now, Like like many other businesses, Memorabilia dot expert has basically kind of close their doors to be coming in and out, but you can always reach him online and if a very successful Amount of auctions going on on stuff they have online. Yes, just goto. Remember leah dot iceberg? That was 10. Ted Williams, not Hank Williams. And Williams is the singer. Yeah, and also yes, but they are open still to do some evaluations if you want something evaluated. They They are appraisers also so they could do that. And they buy and sell and you go there. You talk to Victor Kita. Right, Victor Kita? Yes, and eating all right, great people. The course is Independence Day. And depending on where you live Fireworks may or may not be legal like here in Las Vegas there legal for today, and I think to cut off his midnight, But even then it's pretty restrictive because we're under a red flag warning and what that means is that we have dry winds that are around us that are pretty strong, Gusty. And once the fire gets started, that's the best way to spread it in the quickest So there are some restrictions on using fireworks today, and I just saw on the news last night. You think sparklers air are harmless? Those burned at 1500 degrees Fahrenheit. I didn't know that. That's that's 1/3 degree burn right there, isn't it? Yes. So, uh, once again, Dependence day, be careful for using fireworks. Treat them. With care. Simple reason. As hospitals have a lot of injuries because of fireworks Day summer, you know, just slight fingers with burns and at the people of that actually lost fingers and eyes. Over doing bad things with fireworks now when I was younger, I happened to see some friends of mine because I did not do this. They got Roman candles and they were shooting Roman candles of each other. And I thought, Wow, that that was just insane. And of course, my only experience was shooting bottle rockets that, Yeah, it's pretty pretty easy there. They're supposed to go up in the sky and pop, but I was out in the driveway. She bottle rockets up and I let one it went up. It didn't pop. It came down on the top of my neighbor's cars, Vinyl roof. And then it popped. So I was a little bit trouble. Little bit trouble. Then after that, So if you're looking for a V s so U can always get a hold of the Nevada State Veterans Office by calling 702892 I'm sorry. That is wrong. It's different number than that. I put the wrong number in here, so we'll correct that next time. Let's hit those covert 19 numbers were going this week worldwide 11.3 million. That's up over 1.3 million We went from last week's deaths at 499,530. 1000 is pretty good increase there and we also world recoveries, who went from 5.4 to 6.3 million. So just about a 1,000,000 Maurine recoveries. Which to me that that's always the good news is we get more recoveries. Of course, United States It's not looking is bright is what we would like it to be. We're up to 2.9 million cases. We have over 132,000 deaths when the president wanted to keep that cap around 125,000 and we've kind of exceeded that and we'll get into that after I give the numbers out. Different reasons why that happened. And of course, the recovery rate we've gone up by about 200,000 which isn't a CZ large as I would like to see. We went from 1 to 1.2 million. Here in the state of Nevada. We're up it 21,500 cases of covert 19. And that's up from 16.3 1000 last week, and the deaths went up by 30 which is a little bit larger than last week. Went up last week. I think about 28 we went up about two higher than that to 30 this past us. This past week. Now we look at these numbers each week, and they're still numbers that are climbing. Which Kind of gets me nervous in a way, but In another way, it doesn't as I said, Today is Independence Day. And what better way to show your independence by taking that mask off? I mean, if you look at the definition independence, let's go ahead and look at that. Right from the dictionary. It's the freedom control influence support. Are the like of others. That means a lot of people or brandishing it by casting caution to the wind. And pulling that mask right off, and that's that's one of the things that's happening out there. Of course. And again. I call him looters and shooters. I don't know what you call him. You may call protesters. But what I've seen looters and shooters is is probably the biggest part of it, and I don't see any of those wearing mask is that that always makes the news When there's police involved, and the public involved, he see it on the news. You see very few mask so You know, what are we doing here? Coming. I can say this now is that the pandemic Israel And we always stress retro normal. Because if we did the retro normal we could probably not have to wear a mask today if we started that from the very beginning, But we didn't so one of the things we do today's. We wear masks to help. Protect ourself from spreading it everybody else and if everybody did, that it would be a much better place. And I know some people can't wear masks but then has been recommended that they try a face mask on instead, and there's a really nifty ones out. There's ones that are kind of eyeglass type that you put on and covers your face. My wife just bought a hat. Has a wide brim on it. And the thing goes, that's velcroed on. Field comes down in front of you. So there's kind of semi ones out there and not that I'm promoting Amazon vile, promote smile dot amazon dot com because you can select Veterans Transition Resource Center as a charity that you want to support and a portion of what you buy comes back to us..

"Yes is funny. some of the story. there's Hank Williams junior earlier Waylon Jennings but does plan a lot of Wayland song think Williams was there's a story from the essence any symphony the other night and for the life of me I can't figure this one out there's a concert there's a violent strike a soloist I suppose in the end Sophie motor and she's with the CSL and there was someone in the front row recording ms motor on our phone. and the violinist sought stopper performance and asked the woman to please stop recording instead of stopping the woman trying to try to start a conversation with her and everything stopped Erica's sister op the needle scratched off the record the whole bit and the woman said the the violinist said Hey guess what unless you stop recording I'm gonna leave. in which point CSOs president came for he was in the crowd he took charge of the woman's seed he said the told the Enquirer that he never got an answer whether one was recorded performance. and should perform better perceived of deleted it she was escorted out and then she started the whole movement over again but yeah I just saw Hank and kid rock in ten plays a mean fell I don't know about a violent but he throws down on the fiddle there are a lot of people recording and he didn't seem to be bothered by. according to star there's a lot of science I guess in the back your tickets as you're not allowed to record the performance what why would that be different with the symphony versus a show you see at river band or anywhere else for that matter. what what why would that disturb a violin soloist I could see if it's flashing light or something like that but. how do other musicians only pull this off of the crowd going nuts thrown beach balls around LOC a beach ball at the CSL beach balls or anything else it doesn't faze musicians whatsoever this thing. I need you absolutely to be quiet and also the focus laser like on my performance because literally every note is a gem. but what can I go to the CSO rock record of violent isn't it in the person's best interest to because then it goes on the interwebs more people see it may want to come to your shows later. so like your recording I I was one of the two you see all these people the concert. recording every song in their phone to go what exactly are you gonna do with this video well the posted on you too I can get a a literally a someone has recorded this in using real sound equipment not just a crappy phone on your galaxy three to record the sound of this concept is a sense also me your ears but guess what I'm AT speaker it's gonna sound like hell. over the interwebs. there is to stand in a recording the entire concert what are you going to do it as a bootleg concert and also doing it what what is it you're gonna post them go wow that's awesome because you're you're not yeah don't RO double K. your. see anything anyway. yeah there's gonna be somebody at some company that's actually recording it from close to the stage in. you watch it on TV or pay for the you'll pay for the download of the DVD or whatever it might be I just I don't know what it is about the orchestras the CSL again and go how come you can't record I am not I'm not a geek using this yes inning bad just I just it's interesting every concert event to have any problem if you recorded DO for your own use. but they're they're literally the show stopped because the woman is our front row recording the performance of the violence I I I wish I'd answer though I don't know maybe someone CSO has an answer for me on that one I don't know if it's just one of those rules of. polite concerts when you go to a symphony performance certain why that's different than any other concert I don't know big question mark US be in probably a bigger question mark the naps. would be the question mark hanging over our bangles this morning now yesterday I had Daniel Horan Dan on my brother he's older than me and I thought that quite honestly the bangles a pull this thing out there's no reason for the bangles not to win at Pittsburgh you don't have the killer bees anymore there's no Antonio brown there's no Ben Roethlisberger you don't have the tools that they once had yeah you got ju ju you got a couple players ago certainly a really good deal line but I thought okay mixing gets of going through the ball geo a little bit Ross is pretty damn good you've got a lot of ten one out there should be able to put some points on the board I thought after the first series okay here we go thank god strip the ball away from the Steelers again turn over in their in business and I got a field goal on because they they got the ball in the red zone and with a listing of three points turns out that's the only three points it would get online. and that really is the problem we're talking about here now watch this thing last night and let me ask you this would be curious to see if anybody even cares now the panels and to me that's the scariest thing is the apathy after this I'll tell you how bad it was and I ask you the question now do you see do you see as you look through the schedule here with your Cincinnati Bengals. do you see a winner on the schedule anywhere do you see them beating the hell out of Arizona and Larry fitzgerald next week in Cincinnati honestly I don't. do they go to Oakland late in the season at a four twenty five star here in do will get well against the horrible Oakland Raiders. what about the Miami Dolphins. do you see them beating the Miami Dolphins are just going what tied with the Miami Dolphins. I think it's all a tape even see three wins out of the state do you see what what are the schedule go okay there's a win. because after last night then after the diminishing returns I don't say it. I see a time that's all one for. that I have lost thirteen of their last fifteen games going back to last season and nine straight losses to the Pittsburgh Steelers. and to think that somehow this is a rival there's no rival you got a win once a while for to be arrival it's got to be like a fifty fifty proposition it's got to be the way it was maybe during the playoffs but the but the but the Bengals have not played out in a number of years. Andy Dalton look miserable out there. I often don't feel badly for quarterbacks I feel bad for a new dog eight sacks he was a roster had four more times and I think if it was twenty one to thirty seven hundred seventy one yards no touchdowns an interception for a passer rating of fifty seven point four but the biggest tell tell there to me is the fact that he was he has now been sacked nineteen times on the season eight yesterday that's nineteen times demi W. sack last season. twenty one eleven. he's on pace for a record about a record amount of of sex on the other side of the ball you gotta guys what a second professional start Mason Rudolph and he looked like he was very for the probable. the Bengals when the red zone three times and came up with the field goals I mentioned three points and three tries I got the field simply because of where they want up getting that strip. they got it in the red zone we get out and kick a field goal they really didn't know if they if they recover that ball of the fifty or the forty they would've been shut out last night. meanwhile the Steelers first two possessions of the second half it's over you're in bed by the time the third quarter starch. no one point I think they scored four five times a six possessions it just it was absolutely miserable last night battle for for fourteen on third down. and the best part is Pittsburgh got pressure using just four guys the entire game they rush for guys in you think there are forty guys out there how can five guys not stop for guys find big guys can't stop for big guys. I'm terrible comes a math but I know that's a lot it's not for on for this for around three we've got an extra guy out there to make sure this doesn't happen and sometimes we even put a I don't know look at Joe mix and we pull level that block on the corner back to even put up a receiver out ever see resident who to back out there to help block or tight in. so sometimes it's sometimes it's it's six. seven nine four but we can't stop them. I know that the Steelers all the problems dealers have that their delight is not one of them pretty saw the but it's not eight sacks a game guide it's not twelve times I got to eighty dollars good. this is terrible and if you look at the overall just leave it I'm not a numbers guys you know. but if you look at the number of yards the Bengals have gained in consecutive games since week one where they finished in Seattle of four hundred twenty nine yards total offense yesterday was down a hundred seventy five the numbers have been declining steadily over the last four weeks. they went from four twenty nine two one seventy five yesterday. do you really think that Hey we need some home cooking we got to get the Paul Brown stadium and beat the cardinals. I don't think they can beat the cardinals I'll be honest with you and here's the best part about this do you really care at this point I it's safe to say I think most people who call themselves Die Hard NFL football plan fans have moved on to another team I think this is part of I think there's a part of fantasy football two is you get a fantasy team. right R. E. you start looking at guys another team to become a fan maybe going Hey you know I could root for the Browns the Browns are doing something my wife for example just like well you know what we watch the we watch the Browns get. a good game that was pretty good I can get behind the house said is that if you live in Cincinnati going to refer the brown how many Steeler fans do you see in Cincinnati how many more Steeler fans you seem to do it of course that number is going to diminish. you know everyone who's you have the bandwagon fans no doubt about it why is still available because you're good like they like the pager Tommy bar patrons yeah I'm a patriot fan yeah for well since one well since the first approval lease their second Super Bowl went. it's easy to be a fan when when things are going good for your tape. but I think that's the case here in some circles we have other options you can get the game from outside the market your bar watching the game it was fantasy football why do you need to support the Cincinnati Bengals if this is the product on the field and quite honestly if you look at next Sunday's game against Arizona how many empty seats you're going to see how many empty seats to see the week before last when they are when they were home. airline empty seats here Paul Brown stadium. there's a lot of empty luxury boxes of Paul Brown stadium. well what would give anyone any hope whatsoever despite the pleadings of Zach Taylor that we've got to turn this thing around and Sally and looking very Marvin Lewis like at this point not granted it's unfair to throw everything a coach you know he's only been in the NFL head coach now for all four games. the problem is active.

Dick Dale, "The King of Surf Guitar," dead at 81

"Listening to because dick Dale the king of the surf guitar died over the weekend at age eighty one or eighty two and what I always been a big surf rock fan, partly because I socialize with the west coast and reason and libertarianism in L A, but what I love about dick Dalby, besides the music, which is just frenetic and wonderful and exciting and happy and drama and comic it's dramatic and comic at same time. He started life. As Richard Richard Anthony, months sore in Boston Massachusetts fell in love with Hank Williams was dubbed, dick, Dale by guy from Texas, and then, you know, ended up on the west coast, he's Lebanese-American polish Belarussian, and it became dick Dale king of the surf guitar, and that and surf music kind of it it ended up providing if if the Ramones on the east coast in punk were a girl. Group like throw a nostalgia act for girl group music, which I think is a fair and proper just reading of them all of the west coast punk bands of note were basically surf rock nostalgia bands. And dick Dale is just great. And when you listen to his music, I think most people get happy, and I would say go to Spotify just hit him on artists and listen for awhile. And then for those who get really excited by it. He did a cover later in his life of Jimi Hendrix's third stone from the sun, which is this great meta narrative because in that third stone from the sun from the are you experienced album has this. It's it's a dialogue between two aliens who come to the planet, and they they decide that chickens are the smartest beings on earth. And then they destroy earth and Hendrix one point says the line you'll never hear surf music again. And dick Dale had a particularly interesting relationship to that line. But so I'm out for a minute. During that actually came back to like, the chickens taking over the I don't know. Oh now that they're the special. What happens, and that's why the alien like episode five low opco show. Yeah. I still thought it was the white mice or the dolphins or something. They were running things. Dick, Dale was so awesome. He played absolutely every instruments in his band better than everyone who played those instruments. So he was virtuoso trumpet player in a and is drummer and all these kinds of things amazing. He also, and this will be my contribution to what are we consuming? Because of the way that he played a guitar, which it it's a sounds like a percussion instrument. That's because it would take he had like the heaviest strings of anybody like that think of if you don't if you're blanking on dick Dale is Pulp Fiction. That's all. That's the odds. Miserly opening section. Because of the way he played guitar. He partnered Leo Fender, original development developer of the electric guitar and really helped create the Fender brand. Leo. Fender was in competition with less Paul who he named as one of thirty five recent heroes of freedom in our two thousand three anniversary issue, but they're the subject of a book. Great book by Ian, port called the birth of loud. Leo fender. Les, Paul guitar pioneering rivalry that shaped rock and roll? Which is really great. Dick, Dale plays. A a very strong supporting cast role in kind of creating the Fender amps, the Stratocaster telecaster, and all these kind of great guitar sounds that came out of that total pioneer. And you know, we think of surf music the beach boys, which is correct on once sense. But even before that it was all about. This instrumental sound on that was dick Dale and the ventures in particular and Knicks, right? They launched a trillion garage bands and an DIY kind of seen throughout southern California. And that and that history is with us

"We could make a fortune by booking people into the cabin. Now that we're talking about the ghost. Retire on the bond goes. Retire. You know, we talked about that. This is the podcast we're doing this. And if you're it's not about goes is just about all sorts of things. But we're we still got all my gosh. The first episode was doomsday, and we talked about the ghost there and Campbell's experienced Campbell in car. My two older ones. And then we talked about it in. I think it's the conspiracies episode. At the end of that one. And we told a story Campbell did about a friend of the it showed up and what he experienced, but I'm that is just scratching the surface. And I'll tell you why we were putting all this stuff together last month or so and this is the cabinet a cabin. Was built in eighteen part of his built in eighteen fifty eighteen seventy or eighteen seventy two and I was the biggest skeptic. I'll just tell you. And I've told you some of this on on the radio, we'll probably saves a lot of this for the podcast. And we'll sprinkle them. And we're we're figuring probably about every three or four or five episodes will throw in a ghost story because I mean, we've gotten so much responsible when here I mean, the there's just fascinated with it, and you're going, well, I know you're making this stuff up. Just, you know, people listed podcast a podcast now, that's not it at all. I'm just telling you, I was the biggest skeptic, and I'll explain some of this as we tell some the stories, but some of the things that have gone on. Inexplicable. I mean, you you can come up with all sorts of all that could have been so and so no it is. There's just no doubt now in my mind. And I was because they would come back and tell they start. Oh, yeah. Right. Yeah. You know, I'm figuring overactive imagination or too much alcohol, or you know, guys getting around sitting on the porch and they start telling this stuff. And then they start imagining things I'm just telling you some of the things that I have seen heard and smell. There are just unbelievable. See, I believe you. Because what my parents said the Hank Williams house at one time. And this was the last house that he lived in Audrey, his wife, basically lived there and her bedroom where apparently she died of an overdose. Really never got warm. I'm talking about in the middle of summer. It was always cold. It was always freezing cold in that bedroom that back bedroom of her and another time to I had Hank Williams junior just put out whiskey, bent and hell bound, and I had gotten a copy from the station and hang junior it had an apartment on the side of the house. And I would usually go hang out there to try to get away from anybody else. Well, women are coming by the apartment, I didn't want to see and I put that album on. And when I did that room got comb now, that's all I heard, but others had heard footsteps had various things happen to them in that. It's weird. It is weird. Well, I'm not going to give anything away 'cause we will tell this on a future. Pod. Gold's episode. Would you? Go to podcasts dot com. But I had let's just say was a physical encounter. I don't wanna tell you too much because that would sort of ruin this had a physical encounter. I'm just telling you, it's. You say well, yeah. Yeah. If that happened, you would be I stay out lot by myself, you asleep there, and he said, well, you would never do that. And I'm just telling you once you have and some you folks who have lived in a place that's haunted. You know, you'll you'll you can attest to this. Once you get over the initial fear. It's almost fascinating. I mean, you going well this, you know, I don't go out of their going freaked out. It's just like I'm just so used to it. I hear the stuff, and it's so obvious what's going on so Campbell. I'll let him tell the story to. I mean, this was in recent weeks, I left there and he had an encounter. I mean, not a not seeing but just but doors starts slamming, and obviously with the wind or anything like that. And you know, what's going on? He said because he he always dog me. But he says you say you're not scared. But there's no way you're not scared out here. I said, I'm not. So he's. And after that door slammed. He said, I just started laughing. I'm going this ghost is just screwing with me. I mean, and I said, well, you get to that point where it it's not frightful anymore. It's just it's you're curious. Yes. No, I would talk to Agri. Yeah. Actually, especially if you know betas back in the day when I was sending and special VM little bit. Oh, yeah. I remember one time I went out there. And I decided 'cause I was I'd been imbibing alcohol another thing. And I thought I'm gonna go out there and talk I'm gonna try to conjure her conjure her spirit to come out. You never we'd g board did now. No. I did not know we we've been giving good grief about that. He was the, oh, I'm sure you have when I heard that episode. I thought oh that's going to go over big with you. The family guy lady's gonna call. Yeah. That's in doomsday the episode, but go ahead now. But I you know, they say that if you are. Drunk or you know, that that kind of blocks any kind of receptacle. That you would add to the sensory research gone. They're sober. And and try to do that might have been different story. Yeah. Because she died, and she was gonna lose the how as she loved that house. And was this was this an accidental overdose. Romper? Nobody really knows. I don't think. But I I tend to think she did it on purpose being she was going to the IRS was getting ready to take out. Oh, really the next day. And yeah, with when my parents, why say my parents, my dad must step mother got it. It was in in disarray. I mean, it was not in good shape. So they fixed it up, and she's still there. Plus, I think I think they she probably got mad that he took some of it out and moved it down on which nobody believed that was Hank Williams house, and then they ended up tearing it down, and it was. Yeah. It was it was actually it was actually the part that he lived in at the end of his life because they just got that house just before they split up. And so yeah, he had lived in there for a while. And he had moved down to music row. And I mean, everybody was mad at him for doing that. I mean music people, I even tried to talk him out of talking to you talking your father, my mom. Yeah. I try to tell him that. I remember when it moved here is not going to go over. Well, and even Marshall Chapman wrote a song about it. So this would have been when he wouldn't he moved about eighty five or so years mid eighties. Yeah. I remember when they moved to down there. It's right on the corner there with the naked statues. Do you ever remember too that he didn't when he first opened it up the big grand opening? I go down there. Just to see what what it looks like the parking. Lot's not done. You have nowhere to park sit in there with us discussing look he said, no nobody here. And I said no wonder it doesn't look like it's open park. Are you to it? He and I would bump heads all the time. And then they ended up tearing it down. Yeah. Reba thank ribbon and novel. Will they tore down? Yes. Because they bought that whole area. Okay. So the a big high rise over there on that corner. And the funny thing too because one night they had a, you know Hanks. Stepdaughter used to work there. I really did like her. She was very very nice lady. She worked at the house. Yeah. Where the tours and everything funny. She had a birthday twice a year. It's amazing. But anyway, she was really cool. I really liked her. But they had a cardboard life-size Hank Williams cut out. And I I got wise wise idea I thought it would freak people out. I'm gonna put him in the window. And I did. And I drove by man that. The after its. And even the homeless guy came by. And he said no that want mother looking out. To win dropped his bottle of ripple and ran. That's what they say about figure making it up. You gotta cut out of a goat. That's what it is next year get into ghost and your son knows how to play the fiddle. Unfortunately, does not. But I do have a violin. They gave me several years ago that it sits down in my office. Whoa. Oh, I know it that's spooked. That is spooky by the way. Your son tells a great story. He's a very good storyteller. Like is. Oh, man. But it's true. I mean, this is thank you. I know I know, but you I can tell. Oh, yes. From it's from the heart. Yeah. Because I could tell him when he was telling it he sounded a little on the scared side. Oh, yeah. Oh, you should have seen these two dudes the morning after it happened. I mean, they were my gosh. Because it's really weird. I mean, it's just the whole thing. I love your kids, man. They have got to be the most entertaining. They really are. I enjoy being around them. I'm soldier. I'm trying to get the other two who are big Carolina fans. They Carolina basketball. A matter of fact, Douglas, the youngest writes a blog for for tar heel tar heel blog dot com. So you could check if you say Douglas Valentine relation. That's my son. He got gig himself, and he's he's won their best writers. He just loves the tar heels basketball stuff. And I said man, we gotta studio in the cabin now and going there and. Into a podcast. I dunno. I dunno. You do podcast by Carolina said I told you something that will sell. I hate Duke. It'll just be called. I hate doing there. Well, there you go. Hey. But you get more us if you if you wrangled Alabama. Well, that's the very well. I couldn't do that. My dad had come back and humming or I hate Trump. Everybody hates Trump there. Why Trump speaking of the yes? Yeah. How long do? I. Not me. I love Trump. I'm just talking about something that would sell. I like what he's doing. Oh, I love we don't know if I love him. But I love what he's doing. I think he's absolutely hilarious. I think he's funny. So funny, he met tell so here we go. We're going to the state of the union. I right and Donald Trump meets with the contractors to build the wall. You think that's not on purpose? These folks are at the White House with the blueprints and all this stuff out there, and they're looking over everything. So did he met this is actually yesterday met at the White House to discuss the wall along southern border presidents reported discussions came a day before Tuesday's state of the union address where he's likely to address the desire for a wall along the US Mexico border from the hill. Trump has tease the possibility of using the speaks to declare a national emergency to direct construction of the wall, though, it's unclear whether he will do. So I don't think he's gonna do tonight in Jim demint was on. It says I I don't want him to do it tonight. I want him to build the wall. But if. He talks about I'm going around congress declared a national emergency night. Then he'll get all these boos from the Democrats. It'll be a big seen. Just screw them. Just do the state of the union. Don't let it be marred. By that talk about how wonderful the economy is what we would -ccomplish, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And then say I got a big announcement next couple of days, and then have a rose garden announcement. And then that'll be that. Okay. Yes. All right. "It's a good song. Really good talk to me about that song. Well, that's. It was my first single like you said, and well that song pretty much is part of how I kind of got my other songs. So when I sing that song. Sometimes I won't even think and I'll just be singing it. Everybody's like, hey Mason. Is that Mason Ramsey, and I'm like. And then I just start running all over the stores acting crazy. Yeah. It's a good song. Yeah. Very very. So you're big Hank Williams senior fan, right? Yeah. How did you get into his music is he's a from a long time ago? And it's not most twelve year olds probably wouldn't be Hank senior fans, it'd be more Hank junior fans from watching Monday night football. But you you you like his dad? Yeah. Because my grandpa he was born nineteen thirty seven, and he would always listen to Hank Williams senior and as grow up and God and older. He would heave singing it. And then when I was about three years old. We just kind of picked up on it and just started singing it. And so that's how cool that's cool. And then you saying at the walmarts how many times would you go and sing at different stores. Would you do that every weekend? Pretty much every day. Oh, wow. And then people thought and the rest is history. Now, you're sitting with us, and you're cooler than me, you're now, you're not I know what you do play my game at me. This is can you do? So we're we're having. I'm having a battle of wits with the twelve year old Mason's Ramsey right now here winning. Yeah. Yeah. Teach us how to yodel share. Okay. No. I'm not trying to teach you how to yodel like, Alan Iverson. But I'm teaching total Mason. I don't want to. Yeah. Eddie your lay. You'll eat right. No. It was. Oh, yeah. Louis. One more Yoda. That's pretty awesome. Pretty cool. Yeah. I wish I could. That's really cool. Strict yodeling having a good. Practice. Yeah. You just do it. Yeah. You make it seem that easy. All right. My last question for you Mason. You're a little bit of a ladies, man. You got it crushes right now. You're can steal anyone's girl. Really? Okay. Because I saw that. "Can you tell the two apart? I don't know. Jason petty is here Ben performing as going for Twenty-three years. Yes. Twenty three years now. We do have other shows. I mean, I have about six or seven shows that are written in tour with one is called classic Nashville roadshow. And it's is we have a series of those shows that pay tribute to all of the great innocence, George Jones, Merle haggard and Patsy Cline, and Loretta Lynn and all the massive hits that made country music. You know, what it is? Now, there are some folks that would argue that that is country that is country, and and that what's modern played current day. Play is not there are some. I've seen your arguments that isn't that. The current stuff is not country. I have a tendency to agree but up to a point because then you start swapping generations here. You know, there was the Hank Williams style of tonk real hard nose traditional music, and then when Patsy Cline and Jim Reeves came in people were saying, well, that's not country. It's got violence in the background. And it's got orchestration and that's not country. We go through this every. Ten to twenty years country music needs a kick-start to sell more albums or CD's or whatever, you know downloads. It is now, but you know, it's it's country has gotten so far away from the traditionalist movement because there are no kids being raised on farms anymore going into the music business. I mean, there's no you'll get one. Every once in a while. You'll get a guy like a Chris Stapleton. Who's a lot more blues e than he is. The traditional hard country. But you you still got some out there that you know, this ranchers kids it come up, and they wanna sing the George strait stuff. And the western swing stuff, and you've got the hardcore fundamentalist out there. But as far as pitching it to as you well know, the people with the most expendable income our ages fifteen to thirty that's hundred music is pitching its mainstream toward are those people who will make a purchase. Now, our audience is obviously older, and they may or may not make a purchase, you know, because they're they're a little more, you know, tight with their money just because you kinda have to be once you get to a certain age. And so, you know, you really have to you really have to impress people to get them to buy your CDs at the show. I mean, we have our CDs for sale show to get them to actually come out and see the show we have to do a lot more work to get people out there. Well, let's tell them about. The show. That's one way to case. In point Jason Pettis says starring in Hank and my honky tonk heroes this Saturday night and Sunday at the art center of cannon county. You can go to arts center of c c dot com. What's a show about what are we going to see we'll in Woodbury, you will see basically the story of Hank Williams, and we start really with the beginnings of country music in nineteen twenty seven that's called the big bang of country music in Bristol, Tennessee, record producer by the name of Ralph Peer came down from New York City to Bristol for two days of all disciplines for recording talent he called it put ad in the paper. And he got up here on State Street on the Tennessee side State Street in Bristol Virginia and had people come in and one of the guys road to train from Meridian Mississippi to be there. His name was Jimmy Rogers Jimmie Rodgers is a big time. I heard he's in a song. His name is Jimmy Rogers on electrode a pie. Yeah. He was a yodeler called the blues yodeler the singing brakeman, and he yodeling and all of his songs in Hank Williams, loved him. So we take about some of the heroes of the early days of country music before it was called country. The Carter family was there at those sessions later on June Carter June Carter well later on June, June was George she was the daughter. It was AP Sarah in mother may Bill those three and Sarah was the singer mother may Bill played that style of guitar that almost no one can duplicate now. But it was she was self taught. It's amazing to go. If you go listen to the Bristol sessions. It's an amazing to me. It's incredible for some people they'll be bored out of their skulls because it's that old folk mountain style type music, and anyway, hang listen to these people on the radio, and then the grand opera get started in nineteen twenty seven as well, ROY Acuff came from east Tennessee and blew everybody away in the nineteen. Thirties and Hank loved him and wanted to be like him and another guy from Texas by the name of Ernest Tubb. So we pay tribute to the core of of Hank's learning, and then hang played the honky Tonks in southern Alabama. They call it L A, which is lower Alabama. And you cut his teeth at some of these joints where they had to hang chickenwire up between the band and the audience because they were so rough. Wow. Hang loved it. I mean, he loved that atmosphere. And that's where he started get that hockey talk style of writing and singing, you know, and that sort of brute force type of style of country music, but he also he would write love songs. He would also write songs just about everyday stuff. Like, hey, good lookin' is he meets this girl. Really good looking. He wrote a song about it. You know? He was very religious to it, very spiritual side. So he wrote I saw the light just a contemporary country gospel standard. Now, he wrote that song. So we we go through everything that happened in his life. He was a hard drinker. He married a lady they had a love hate relationship. They love to hate one. Another. But she was truly the love of his life. They just couldn't get along. They just fought all the time. So that would that added to all of these cheating fighting songs? He ended up writing about her his wife, Audrey. So it's a whole wonderful story that was condensed into a short twenty nine years. He wrote over four hundred songs in twenty nine years. And there were so many more that we missed out on because he died in the back of a Cadillac on a West Virginia. Highway New Year's day nineteen fifty three. I noticed you brought your Qatar. I did bring my guitar. Can we get you to you? Sure. Can't mess around with a little bit. All right. Let's hear what you got. All right. Let's do the spiritual one about I saw the light..

"Hank Williams is in your community sort of. Take some petty Pettis here. Then on the thunder radio waves before talking about your. Hank williams. I don't wanna say impression. It's not the right word started as an actor, you know, playing the role of Hank Williams from that developed sort of a singing style like him and mannerisms. And of course, a look like him sort of. And I've been doing shows about him since nineteen ninety six twenty three years now kit longer than Hank was Hank. My guys died at twenty nine. He only started seeing it on his fourteen. So I got him. I haven't been Hank longer than Hank was Hank. You only live twenty nine years. How does it feel about this crazy thing we call life feels great? I mean because Hank Williams is sort of a finorm he's he's one of those icons. You know, he's he's like the Elvis of country music because everybody looks to him as the guy that that everything came together. He was the guy that paved the road for everybody else. He's the guy that started it all I mean, he didn't really start it people came before him. But he's the guy that galvanized it. You know and made it successful. And before him, they didn't call it country music folk, and it was mountain music, and it was western music and blues, and spiritual and he came in and just sort of galvanized all those things into what we know is modern country music and became an icon. So people I mean, I get so many people come into the shows in California in just a tour of western Canada. We've got him. Up in Vermont. We've got them in Florida. You know, everywhere southeast in Texas, and those are the mainstays, but you get up into the mid west. He's huge Canada. He's huge California. They think he's a folk hero not country. No because you know, we've been talking to folk festivals and things like that. And they like we weren't even changing the title to my solo show from the lonesome tour which we've done for a couple of years. Now, we're going to change it to Hank Williams folk hero because he truly is one of the great American folk poets. The rural society, you know, he's from Alabama grew up dirt poor. And he wrote about what he knew. I mean, he wrote about his surroundings in every day things that was the first person that really did that for the farmers and the rural people so they really made a connection with him. I get so many people tell me they remember the day. Hank Williams died because it was such a massive event. Sort of like, you know, when Kennedy was shot when Kennedy was assassinated people relate, those those. You know, very negative things. But they remember them they hold onto them, and they can like imprinted on your life really is or or this music reminds them of their grandfather or grandmother, father and mother, and there's something about Hank's music haven't been able to put my finger on it. I've got a good idea of what it is. But it's so important to them. So I don't take it lightly at all even after twenty three years. I still talk to the audience in reverence to this guy because this is meant so much not only to them. But to me as well. Wow. Got hank. William was the country. He's full keys, and you mentioned different places. You've got how many performances have you done as he is there a way to keep track years? Well, over two thousand I mean. Well, you know, you thinking at least seventy five to one hundred year for twenty three years. I can't do the math. But. That's what we do anywhere from seventy dream Queen. No, I wish I did. Because I have wealthier dream. Jason Pettis not only a performances comedian. Thank you very much. I do more than just your the Hank Williams show. But that's what we're here for, you know, we're we're replaying at cannon county arts center Saturday and Sunday with the Hank honky tonk heroes show, which my which is my bread and butter show. It's the one that's. Was first written for a casino in Atlantic City, New jersey in two thousand and one. So this is it's eighteenth year. Wow. Yeah. And the thing kid from Manchester Tennessee would be asked to write a show for a casino in Atlantic City. How'd you get that gig? You know, we had just well we hadn't yet done New York. We had not done off-broadway yet. We had an agent that was out of Minneapolis. And he was pitching the show the the Hank Williams show and they had a casino that did not want the play. They did not want to play that. I was in which was lost highway. They didn't want to two and a half hour with an intermission because they want people on the floor gambling, sir. Okay. Wanted a seventy five minutes sort of tribute show to him. And so that was when I first wrote. My wife's phone going off. That's when I wrote the Hank in my honky tonk heroes show for Atlantic City, New jersey, and the funny thing was is that at the seventy five minute, Mark when it was over they opened the back doors, and you could hear the machines, and they were like scuttling people out get back to your machine get back. Wow. They wanted people gambling. This is this is entertainment for them. But when the seventy five minutes is up we need those people money. So you are for Manchester. You lived here hallows born in Manchester county general which is no longer coffee. It's something else rehabilitation center, Dr young who just passed away a year or two ago one that delivery. But yeah. Born here. I haven't always lived here. She and I have lived in Nashville, New York, Los Angeles. And you're referring to your wife. Yes, right here. You think you're talking about Tiffany? Hope petty. She's been a guest here on listen. Learn talking about the we Actors Guild that the mansard center. She's the president and CEO of the we Actors Guild. I am not that. I am dead coordinator for the we Actors Guild. There's no president. So everytime. He's so hope every time he says, we he means the to we we didn't do New York. Ed, we. We live in Manchester now because lucky for us we got pregnant in two thousand six and we were living in our condo in Nashville. And I said, let's get back home. Plus, my dad had just been diagnosed with Parkinson's, and I wanted to be a new a we could get a house cheaper here than in Nashville. This is before Nashville exploded. Really wish I bought land or something. Invested in something I didn't know national just gonna explode the way it did. But we came to here to Manchester bought a home in sort of took care of my dad till he past couple of years ago. And then I told her now's your chance to move. And she's like, no, I love it here. You have kids. How old are your children? Laura lie turns twelve tomorrow. And James is nine. Who if I asked her kids, and they're not here. They're in school. When if I asked her kids who Hank Williams was what would what would they say? Daddy. You have been playing Hank Williams since before they were born in by playing all you ever singing as acting as that to a lot of people. You're the only reference, and I am assuming to your kids. And I include the history of my shows, you know, I I tell all of story, you know, you can't really tell Hank Williams story in singing songs without knowing what he was going through in life because everything he wrote was an autobiography of what was going on in his life. So to really know Hank Williams, you just need to listen to his records because he'll tell you himself. But telling the story, my kids know, the story, Hank Williams better than they know my my life store. Well, one day they'll ask if I can remember at that point. I'll tell them they know that James was telling me when we come home for Christmas that he told me the story of I saw the light of how that was written. He said do you remember how daddy said that that song was written? And he told me the entire story. It was almost James sang it at karaoke. Yes. And James, Ed, we go to karaoke nights, sometimes until home, and he wants to sing all the hang songs like daddy and Susan convinced suit. Bought me, a brand new reclining chairs?.
