What Does Inflation Say About the State of the Economy?
"I would argue that is worried as I am about the future direction in the economy and whether or not consumers can continue to sustain this level of spending, what's interesting is we actually haven't had the massive downside in the economy that you might think. I mean, I guess I'm in the minority because my kids are like, why haven't we got on vacation? Why? I'm sorry. I don't want to pay two or three times as much for the same hotel room that I stayed in pre COVID that was a sliver of the price it is now. I just, you know, ethically have a problem with that. The price of everything is going up and restaurants are still crowded and it's tough to get airline tickets. I mean, all of this suggests inflation will continue. Because if you have that demand, coupled with these inflationary pressures such as we now have in the economy and there's so many of them. Finally, the fed is doing something about it, but there will be a hangover combined with real supply chain issues, yes, because of the China thing. And of course, the energy challenges because of what's going on in Europe. I mean, this is not going to get too much better. The economy could suffer because people may start to scale back in that spending. Maybe they don't go out to dinner as much. Maybe they're going on vacation as much because at some point it's got to sink in. It's got to sink in that they get less money in their pocket. I'm looking at the numbers here and basically there was nearly a 3% drop 2.6% drop in spending power in terms of what consumers have because it inflation is continuing to rise by this much. And yet, incomes are only going up this much, right? So when you look at the real number, which I realize nobody at The New York Times wants to do because they apparently don't adjust for inflation over there when they look at incomes like, oh, incomes are higher. Now they're not. They're not higher when adjusted for inflation. People actually have less money. And that's why you're seeing, I think, frustration reflected in so many
Great News! US Judge Overturns Mask Mandate on Planes, Trains
"Great news, everybody. We mentioned this yesterday. The federal mask mandate. On airplanes has been overturned. Catherine Kimball mizelle, a 35 year old former clarence Thomas clerk, appointed by Trump and confirmed by the Senate before the lame duck session ended has come in and has overturned and repealed the mask mandate. Now, the mask mandate on planes and on trains could be best described as almost like a hangover effect, if you will. A hangover effect from tyranny. Some restrictions have been lifted, but for whatever reason, the Biden regime was still very focused that they need to have mask mandates on travel between New York and Los Angeles. This has always been the great hypocrisy has been within airlines. It started with a different type of hypocrisy actually. And not just the hypocrisy, but a double standard and an inexplicable rule that was put forward and it was very simple. It was that why could I fly from Boston to Phoenix and sit next to somebody and remove my mask and be able to have a snack next to that somebody, but the restaurants are closed in Boston and Phoenix, the two places I'm flying from. It started in that sense, and now it's kind of changed to something even worse. Why is it that Boston and Phoenix has in rune dining? And you can eat in these places without a mask on. You have to wear a mask on the airplane between going those two places. And so the airplane has always kind of been a place of controversy throughout this entire saga if you will. The lockdown vaccine mandate mask mandate the entire kind of Fauci virus Chinese coronavirus saga, the airplane is a place where a lot of people have let's say gotten very heated fights and they do so probably for good reason because of the double standard of enforcement of the mask mandates. And I do have to say, I had a couple of pretty angry flight attendants throughout the last two years, but generally I have to say, flight attendants were so sweet, they were so understanding, they were very forgiving of even kind of jerks that were trying to defy the rule. And I'm not saying that to find the rule makes you a jerk. But it's a dumb rule, okay, but if you're now going to create a set of circumstances where, you know, you're going to, what's the best way I put this? Where you're going to try to make the entire plane have to land because of your own decision. That's very selfish. That's not looking out for other people. I don't like it. That almost happened on a plane that I was in and thankfully it got fixed and it got kind of sorted out. So the plane didn't have to get rescheduled. Mask mandate went on for far too long and never should have happened in the first place and this is not just a win for passengers. This is also a win for flight attendants as well.

A lot of drugs is to do with the failure of desire within couples within. Friendships is a failure. Desire drinking as a way to short-circuit temporarily. That's bob but the occasional revelry. Yeah to fit into the glass slipper which was originally in some russian versions of a for a for slipper and another was. Oh it was a brass labor. Anyway this is about hangovers. We should do one. And i like when we just meander your. It's fun. I haven't seen peden a little bit. Forgive me. it's a good time and we do need to do an episode. I would like you to read. Yeah because i mean one of my the yeah. I bring it up because one of my classes on the n- myths and folklore fairy tales and Theater and film and all that sort of that kind of Viewing them psychologically and it was really just a fun class like it was super super interesting to read so many fairy tales and think every time that i was like oh this is going to be kind of boring and and i was like oh. It really does something about those little especially fairytales. Think distilling those stories into something so excuse me simple was just like is wonderful. I was like this is just so it's constantly entertaining and Surprising and you know there's always sort of that different versions of morality bobby. Yoga is a real good one. You know bobby yager. "So you're saying you lament that they hangover was one of the last of its eras the gigantic comedy that everybody saw that created a huge movement. If we're going to say that i would say that. Seth rogan is the sole responsible member for making balls out comedies. When i ball's alchemy dude comedies. I mean like making comedy movies are not like they're funny. They are just they are funny. They don't need to be anything else they don't need to have heart they do and they are very well put together. It's like when you look at like blockers and good boys And you look at you know these other movies. You know that You know this is the end like they are they are just like i think he's the only person right now that is doing that is doing the traditional. Like this is a fucking. This is a comedy like. This is nothing else not trying to be anything else. Long is a great romantic comedy. It's not you know but that doesn't mean it's less than comedy is still got tons of jokes. I admire the hell out of his body of work. But we're not doing this film next. We are not. We are not but we are doing a movie. That i think will address some of these issues that we talked about about maybe representation and i think we'll talk about a different point of view because this next movie that we're doing i think we're going to get is making its way giant giant amazon way. So yeah why. Don't you lead us into it. Well we are doing at the time and movie about women behaving badly we are doing.

"About a mutual friend and vegas because we were there shooting the league and as i was texting with him To people walked by with like shirts of his character with the baby on it printed shirts and as this is fucking surreal like this the hangover has become like this is like it. Is you know it is a part of the culture of vegas like they. Are this other thing. Yeah really are they really are you know they it. Yeah i think legs elephantiasis become like the saint of vegas. He's eight oh. Please don't let me die this weekend. I mean it's he's not that guy but he's he's hilariously. Funny i mean they actually. I think in many respects like his career is one of the most interesting because he does what he wants to do how. He wants to do it when he wants to do it. And and could have taken a very different path probably based on what was presented to him and is i think only made things that he ultimately feels. That feels true to what he wants to do. For the most part they got a lot of now your character gets hit by a car scripts and then he got nothing. But now your character gets hit by a car scripts and i don't mean to like i'm not trying to disregard your thought experiment like when we get back to transgressive films. I think comedy is in trouble. I think i think that comedy is a mainstream thing does not work anymore and i think it works on net flicks and think it works in smaller venues and as movie theaters. Right now are struggling. You've yet to see these movies. pop through. And where they pop through a movie. Like pop. star Mcgruder and these are definitely years and years apart. They're hilarious. Movie is fact and after the fact and and and we're seeing this thing people don't take a risk on the unfamiliar like if there was a step brothers to yes it would be like if you look at like the comedies..

"Well there you go. I mean look i want to talk about a couple of things here and just say as we're continuing to think about this space and i want to address something that said there as well when the movie comes out. We're in an era of peak. Adam mckay movies right. Stepbrothers comes out the year before this Judd appetite is doing sarah marshall which i think is one of the best you know. And that's not an just to be clear. Wanna make sure. I credit my directors that is not a appetite movie. It was produced by appetite movie. That's a stoler film. you still are. Have you have this great ben stiller tropic thunder which is one of my all time faves. So it's not like oh. This came out of a time. Where comedies were not working comedies. We're working this. Just i think captured a different style of comedy than had been out there and it sort of feels like it worked in that way that it just it captured something. I don't know what about it is different. You know But it just may be said the things that people have been saying or been afraid to say that that that these are good things but they but they are it definitely had more of a raw edge to it. But i will say it is worth noting that for me. What is a problem with this movie. Is those stereotypes and and as much as he talked about the filmmaker being aware of the woman. Breastfeeding not being a disgusting thing. Our characters are not and that seems to be one of the only times truly where we're commenting on stuff. That doesn't feel right. It doesn't sit right with me. I don't love. I don't love the portrayal of you know i think there's a lot of racial insensitivity across the board and if and and there's one thing to be done by someone who's making choice to do it and there's another thing to be done by someone who is a doing a caricature and not having that background And i think that that's something that is sometimes problematic when you are pushing forward very aggressive stereotypical things and you are not that thing and so there is there is i have issues with that. I also feel like I also feel like the the treatment of women is like an. I'm not just a little base. It's base in its knicks them. Not fun and And you have amazing women in this movie i'll just say like jillian. Digman rachel harris who are incredibly funny performers. Who are forced into these roles where they don't really get to do much of anything and that's a shame and you know and and pretty much all the characters and interact with our male characters with these heather. Graham you know. There is something about it. Where my i don't know if this is the most representative comedy..

"Like i think you're right. Todd phillips doesn't want these characters to be that likable he likes the world as of innocuous but also the the the thing that is so cool about it is when you put in somebody that you know. There's a comfort level to them like there is there is like oh i know will i know well is gonna will ferrell. We'll take care of me in this movie but when you don't know what these characters are you don't it's new and it's exciting and that's what we should be. That's what should be going through. We shouldn't like it's the biggest. The biggest dream is that we there. It's not predictable. We don't know who's going to die. You know when we see a movie where a main character has an early exit. Oh my god know or something like that like what i love about this movie is. We don't know what to expect and so that makes people uncomfortable. I love that. I actually picked a longer review the doubles down. Even more on this It's from richard corliss time. You wanna make a comedy about guys who in the true meaning of bromance on a horrible weakened in vegas but you can't spend a lot of money on talent who do you cast the leading role of fill. The smart aren't the smart energetic audience. Surrogate might have suited. Jim carey vince. Von so go with bradley cooper i. I'm fascinated by reading that. Like phil as the guy that richard is like. That's the audience surrogate. He's the one that we like Steve carell would have been perfect. For stu the amicable henpecked dentist ed helms corrales cohort on the daily show in office costs so much less. Now alan the roly poly cute guy with a surface of energy in a sociopathic streak. Can't afford jack black so give stand up com- exact galifianakis a chance. Okay we got ourselves a movie no unless your definition of pure perversity includes the portrayal of convicted pedophile. Who's given weekend custody of a baby or if your idea of the decades funniest movie would contain a senior heroes. Get repeatedly tailored before class of cheering. Children you'll also need an adult indulgence. For racial parenthetical asian in sexual parenthetical. Gay stereotyping the site of inappropriate. Gentlemen with their pants off in will that last bit is always funny. The rest is about as easy to endure as a real hangover in. Then it says it he like then the review starts to really get into into the world of romance films which there are a lot of at this point. It's as it applies. All the numbing lee familiar tropes of the bromance comedy that have made this flourishing sub-genre as rigid in its conventions as kabuki theatre whether the guys and bromance dating each other like i love you man going to bed with each other super bad or marrying each other. I now pronounce you chuck. And larry the common thread is the assumption by men of the traditional movie male and female roles the women of the hangover with the fleeting exception of heather. Graham who plays a hooker with a baby are creatures either to ignore or flee from. Bill's wife makes to impression. Doug's bride to be is briefly is a briefly satan figure of increasing anxiety and stews. Longtime girlfriend is a shrew from shrews. Ville she so stridently castrating stews climactic display of spine kind of like the chester. Seen from alien only dorsal is a given from the get-go whatever the critics say about this movie. It is a bromance so primitive that it is practically bro magnet..

"That zach doesn't just fall down go. Boom a fan of fall down go boom that he staggers to him in a way that's even more terrifying and menacing and funny than it would be it then then what you're expecting and look i love robbery go. Rubber goes my buddy and that sequences amazingly he brings so again improv and what people are bringing the things like this is like that scene is because he had seen in so many different ways but more intimidating you see that scene There's so much going on there that elevates that seem to yes you're getting this funny thing of them being taste but all the comedy around it is is really good. I was gonna say before. I think the problem. I have with comedy movies and sequels in general. There's not a hard and fast rule. Is you you close the loop. It's sort of like the reason i comes. Work is because you never closed loop you know for the most part. Most sitcoms That you know or you know in the old model it's like you're always back to square one again like you don't want to necessarily fall in love. You don't wanna get you wanna change situation. You want to kind of just retread these characters in use them over and over and over again but when you have a movie that needs to arc and you end the characters with a definitive ending. They've grown they've changed. They've done something it's like shits creek. Perfect example of this. I guess the characters are growing throughout the series but not right away and at the end.

"And maybe to appoint starsky and hutch. Is this idea of. We're back in the seventy s. We didn't have to play by those rules. You know and and you know but but it is all about rule breaking you know You know a and creating a different moment like what. What are we doing here like. How are we breaking. The system even wore dogs. Which i don't think people many people saw Myself i saw announced. I forgot i saw were dogs was about like kind of getting your own. You know You know how the government says is kind of okay right. Why is this okay. Can i take in crazy ideas to eliminate figuring why this is a broken system. Yeah yeah like. I think that makes us films really interesting. As body of work you know in of them the hangovers. Probably my favorite. To the honest you know like. I think that they're this whole film. Feels to me like like waking up and not getting to brush your teeth like this film feels legitimately like dirty and terrifying in a way that i appreciate feeling uncomfortable. I mean this movie kind of operates like a horror film. i mean. Leo's for filled in so many ways. I think that that's why this movie works movie works. Because it's not just a straight up comedy it's a stylistic film that is a who done it even though there is no done you know. There's a sort of like this. They're trying to figure out this mystery. But i will say one thing about the har- the idea ed helms who is really missing that tooth he pulls it out so when you said they will. How much is improvise. Well there is something that would never have been in any other version that movie but you have this character walking around with a gaping hole in his mouth. And that's it. And he is one of your. You know your leads of a movie and even just looking at that the first time you see it. And even in the end when he's pulling out with the pliers It's like oh it's just. You're not used to seeing that on the big screen like that kind of that as a lead. You know maybe as you know in like in national an-and vacation you could see cousin eddy being a little bit weird but that is a pretty aggressive look behind it that he did it because zach galifianakis. It think he could do it in this idea of like what happens when a group of men get together like how they egg each other on to become more destructive and what is funny because the one thing i do think that is really funny is asses. Like there's a lot of assets in this movie a lotta male asses in my recollection. Tell me if i'm wrong. There isn't a lot of female nudity in this film. Maybe more in the in the post credits than in the actual film not yeah eighties. Which is surprising you know and and and even the way heather graham is when she is naked in the movie. She's breastfeeding so it's not even done a salacious way. In a way it's actually done and this is what am i wrestle with. It's done in a way where it's being filmed in a way. That is not gross. But the men react to it in a way that it is gross..

"I don't think it read on paper but these actors. And i think a lot of times in comedies actors elevate material yet. Somebody exac in a movie. Who i think is so incredibly funny aware he was able to avoid some pitfalls and traps of maybe some of the writing and do things that i think are very zach like i mean the things that you would see in stand standup act. So he was able to bring a very strong point of view and do things in and maybe make some all choices. I read one thing last night that there was a joke that line. Where zack said. I know they gave out rings at the holocaust because he said was his. Grandmother's holocaust during is such a funny joke. And it's such a great job. And i think there was a joke that was in there before. That was a joke about like having sex. With like ed. Helms mom or grandma or something like that you know so so i think there is this idea of. Let's try to elevate the material in each performer. Kind of bring. What the they had to it you know. I think ed is incredibly funny as well. You know who could just be like okay. I'm not going to necessarily do this. You know this song around the piano. That's ed that's different. That ed is bringing to the movie so i do think that they're probably remnants. There are probably things that are of its time. And then there are things that are elevated because of the casting of this movie across the board from even people like rob riggle and and brody stevens In the police precinct. You know rachel harris also incredibly funny and jillian men like all these people bring something to it and and working with. Todd he is incredibly collaborative as far as letting people trump material on the page. And then when you're saying actors like subverting some of the lines that might have been in the script it makes me think of something like the way wins zach galifianakis characters supposed to say Retard he completely mispronounces it. Time again like retard to make the joke something different than the actual word. You know what i mean. The on him in not like that. Word itself is a punchline. Yeah absolutely i mean maybe we just call it out like this is a movie that thinks that way guys are sweet in empathetic in misunderstood and deserve to you know. Act out their feelings and have friendships. I appreciate like the idea of like male friendship being a really important thing in this movie but it is also a movie. That's like women are nagging or women are literally sex workers or like a bride that you can just lie to a lot and it doesn't really matter. Yeah i mean. I also found it to be a very weird catchall that bradley cooper's characters like oh yeah and i'm married and i have kids like wait what it's dropped in in the last twenty minutes of the movie..

It's very hard Jamie fox very talented guy end. I'm constantly kind of interested in intrigued by what he does and how. He views himself. When i've heard him on howard stern the way the talks about himself in his career himself as an actor and performer are Absolutely fascinating and Yeah i i get to be more of a jamie foxx van As i continue to live my life. Even more than we have this day Absolutely and if it wasn't for will smith turning down django we would never gotten the performance and this is an interesting thing because the hangover is a movie that is known throughout hollywood as being a film that pretty much everyone turn down. Now amy as i get into this film with you i have to just be incredibly honest at the at the forefront this is going to be the hardest movie Ever for me to talk about because many of the people involved in this movie on many many levels are Are close friends of mine. Some of them were my wedding. Others have hired me others fired me very recently so I may be holding back some thoughts in this episode. I may. I may be going lighter than normal but i wanna make sure that. I'm fairly saying that that is the case. I'm here to to let you all know that. I'm not an unbiased. I can't have a unbiased point of view on this movie. I am incredibly biased. In these are my friends. And yeah so that's where i'm at. I didn't realize how any i didn't realize how much it was until until actually watched it last night. And then i remembered that. I.

"To Hangover one is seven hangover. Three is eleven. ted is number to meet. The fockers is number three and a movie that not even a An american film number four. It actually is the film that was the basis of. I don't know if you remember it. But this kevin hart Bryan cranston film The film that it was based on was a french film called less untouchables. Yes i have seen both of those in the bryan cranston. One is truly awful. I've also never seen a falker. Am i missing out Meet the parents. One from my recollection is pretty fantastic. And what. I think is really interesting about this. List is of course. The hangovers are higher than the original. Because when you have a hit like the hangover and the second one is coming out hell. Yeah you want watch that movie like you like. Everyone goes up because everyone to watch it on dvd or streaming probably not even streaming as a thing at that point Which it isn't you are running to the fear because you know this is going to be good. Same thing for meet the faulkners And i would argue in both of those cases not not not the not the case. Not the case saddles not better. Are you saying flat out that the hangover to is terrible. It does not exceed the first film. That's all i'm gonna say. Yeah i mean. I have a whole theory about how the hangover to could have been rescued and could have brilliant and it was a belief that i held deeply throughout the entire movie up until two thirds of the way through. And i was like you're not gonna do the plot twists that you should obviously be doing now. I wanna hear it well. we'll get into. We'll get y okay. I love this excellent. Well i am very excited to talk to you about this movie. So maybe amy a toast to film. Once was the biggest grossing r rated comedy of all time and.

Should it be longer absolutely but that is not the premise. The premise here is to only pick a hundred to make those hundred films hurt you. What are we eliminating. What are we putting on it. We want each choice to make you feel a little bit of pain and we are close. We are close to our one year anniversary. We have forty films on the list and this last year. We've been looking at a ton of films and we're going to add a few more to our list in just a few more episodes and we're gonna get closer to our goal of one hundred great movies. Amy i've been thinking about the last year. I know we talked about this last time too. But i i've been really mulling over all the movies we've watched in the last year. I really wanna make sure that. I picked the right ones because they enjoyed a lot of these films. I know i know it's really hard. Are you getting any empathy in your system for the afc coming up with a list of films in this big like. That's dumb wisest there what's your problem. And now we and been joining us. Enlisting with us and shaping the list and telling us what you think we will all have our asses on the line and continue to make sure that the listeners here put their asses on the line. We want you to compile maybe five or six moves it you want to add to this list from the last year as we branched away from the af. I you can do it at our discord page which you can currently find under my discord which is discord dot. G g slash. Paul scheer is. They're making your list. Let's start a thread. let's start talking about what we want on there. Because i think it's going to be a real knock down drag out battle a lot of people. A lot of people came at me for not liking speed. But i think when they when they saw fugitive they also saw that you know. Wow i forgot about this moving. This movie is pretty damn good But yes i've taken the most heat on the show amy. I understand now what it's like to be in your position with a hot take because man. Oh man the speed reactions. I was not. I was not ready for it that jurassic park of taking a lot of heat but desert park. At least i feel like. I have like a seventy thirty split. It just thirty are very vocal. But the seventy are on my side. Speed could not find many people on my side. It's much more vica. An an eighty twenty split. I still say watching the movie. You don't remember it. It's kind of like you yourself under the bus. I like that Well amy last week incorrectly identified the hangover as the highest grossing comedy film or summer comedy film of all time. We are in the middle of our blockbuster extravaganza. here's summer blockbusters. We've we've just been doing lots of like action installed up sifi pretty much. Everything was steven spielberg's thumbprint on it. In some way and paul you rightly have been banging drums saying where are comedies. Where the comedies are where we find. Original material is where we get away from like the the meyer of intellectual property which is beginning to crawl up my limbs like black tar and be from becoming fossilized mastodon of really died here..

"In the summer of two thousand eight. My wife sarah. And i traveled to europe with another couple. Our friends laura and ryan. I like laura and ryan a lot but one thing you need to know is that they are the sort of people who really try to suck the marrow out of life and make the most of their brief flicker of consciousness and all that stuff. This is very different from my style of traveling wherein i most of the day psyching myself up to do one thing visit a museum perhaps and the rest of the day recovering from the only event on my itinerary. The trip took us from denmark. Sweden and then on to iceland a small and mostly rocky island nation in the north atlantic. That attracts tourists primarily by offering free stopovers to anyone who flies iceland's national airline. Iceland air. I was interested in visiting iceland partly because i have a longstanding fascination with tiny nations and partly because my publisher jewish strauss gable had told me she loved this one hot dog stand in iceland called bayern's be to answer the trips to sweden and denmark had been lovely there were smorgasbords and museums but the highlight had been an evening spent with ryan's swedish relatives. Who lived on the shores of some vast lake in the swedish wilderness. They welcomed us to their home and proceeded to get us blisteringly unprecedentedly. Drunk on sweden's national wicker bronfman. I do not often drink to excess. Because i have an intense fear of hangovers but i made an exception. That evening ryan's relatives taught us swedish drinking songs. And they taught us how to eat pickled herring and my glass kept getting filled with bronwyn until it lasts the eighty year. "Row madrid. I thought severe played off the park in the first half playing without a without a recognised striker. This was a hangover. And is this another example of china that madrid never say die until the end quality that or just sheer dumb luck that they got the equaliser in in in in such a such a way. 'cause shot was definitely going out. I thought not talking watching severe. I was kind of brought to mind some of those performances from boss loaned kouadio la where just had the to just moved it and moved and moved and keep moving and it was the degree of control was was really quite something and watching up close because i was ever says well it was. It was very very striking the ease with which severe seemed to be able to control the game. It's true huge amount of challenge. But they were much much side although madrid did react in terms of your your question about is this real madrid. Always finding the life last night that they didn't win made me think well you know this talks didn't find a way for but actually if you look at the table and the way as now that nine minute goal from tiny crews redden has depending on who you're giving it to actually could be huge because it keeps row madrid's about boss alone them and it also puts it in a position now going into the final four games that yes the league titles athletic images hands but if not let's go produce much draw now it goes back into roman hands and obviously without that goal they would have needed outlets country to lose one of those games. Bit Clinton a few other kryptos and it seems to be tied into China and also gold. We'll get to that in the moment, but, yeah, Big Queen lost 15% in a short period of time less than eight hours from set late Saturday night early Sunday morning. The other Cryptocurrency, the second largest eat your ECM lost 18% so more than Bitcoin. There seems to be like three reasons why this is happening, Kevin. The number one reason for the plunge is what a lot of people have been talking about. Analysts. The economists are saying the crypt of currency market just Huge with frostiness and well, overvalued. I mean, there's a coin last week on and I'm not endorsing any certain around a Cryptocurrency but do going it's sort 400% in a week, so that's just huge. The second reason is ah. It's unverifiable report, though, was put out on Twitter that claimed that the U. S. Treasury was looking into charging several financial institution. For using crypto currencies and also from money laundering. There is a movement by the iris just to let everybody know called Operation Hidden Treasure, which coincides with this. Ah, unclaimed report on verified So that is a real thing that the iris is coming down on people laundering money and not paying taxes on Cryptocurrency. And the third reason why this just might be is run the aftermath. All we talked about last week Queen Base when public on the NASDAQ and it ran up, and now it's just this is kind of like the hangover. That's happening s o, But there's people out there saying, you know, Bitcoin is is going to be with us to stay, and it's also competing against the US dollar. Well, and

All its Your would be would be more but Yeah a minimum of a bottle in in in one session of drinking and I i never wanted to be an everyday drink because there was. That's what i considered. A problem not realized that five six days a week. Out of seven He's anti-israeli problematic. Because you're never regained recovering. And what was the older you get your hangovers along as well. CDL Talk with Danny Martin CEO of Esposure
"I feel like we haven't talked about cod at all. Maybe apart from week one we've touched on it but here we are. it's it's major stage one. We're already a fifth of the way through. Yeah it's crazy is is just gone by so fast in it. At least it's kind of for the most part always ghana's expected you know there's not very many surprises in the league right now so if you're just tuning in and playing some ketchup. The standings are kind of what we thought they would be at the moment. Ed my guests is tim. They stay this way. Most of the year you know like it. We know who the best teams are. A lot of. These teams have carried over from last year. And we're seeing them shine again this year. A few disappointments sprinkled in though. I think it's safe to say especially from our preseason kind of chat right our preseason predictions anyways florida one in four after defeating phase in week. One a little shocking like i. You know maybe it's just more of a hangover from last year that i think it's shocking because the team is at the same team as it was last year So quite even if it was the same team they over performed in my eyes last year. Yeah we would probably weren't going to get those same results with that same squad now with the new squad you know. They're going to probably be fine chances. Are they move up into the top eight and get a chance to play with the big boys at the end of the day but Yeah i mean. I think even toronto electronic try probably a little higher on going into the year thinking that they they won the last group stage or whatever. It was whatever it was called last year for. Cdl you know. They won the last group stage heading into champs and thought they would. You would see them. Take that next jump. We really haven't seen that unfortunately from them but again so so much time left. You know they did win today so they are at least moving onto round two of losers here and Staying alive so maybe they're so little hope form in this tournament. But i you know they would be a little bit of a disappointment for me up until now
Aus Open Day 6 - Silent, subdued, but intriguing
"Think today day six over the twenty twenty one australian open the first fully crowd list day. I think today was the new year's eve house party that you feel you have to gauge new year's eve show up. You do the rounds for a couple of hours and then you sneak off to a bedroom and go to sleep or it's just the hangover the day after we sit there and just drink cups of tea and no answer any calls the hanger day off to the the banging nights out the ends in where you're just gonna sort of pick up pieces and clear mass. Yes i came. That may be works better. And wait for your next party in a day's time it's the regroup day. It's fresh as week when you when in my case you have one thing and you're saying that's it you can just have a normal week and then you gotta do again the next night but so what you do. Is you just insert little arrests days. Yeah don't understand human beings. The enjoyed fresh week genuinely look back and say i enjoyed freshers week. I didn't understand human level so they walk among us. Catherine apparently say it's not but i didn't enjoy today i just dino it it just i mean there were no crowds. We need the. We're going to be crowds that that was a shame How how much. How much was the fact that there were no quarrel to contributing factor. To the fact that today was a was a bit of a dump squib. I mean this has been the dump squib hof of proceedings burnett. We've we've we've made to conceal that on the podcast. You know there have been highlights will will big those up as best we can on today's pod but how. How much was it the crowd. I think it was definitely parts of it in that. You know we're all. I did feel a bit of a downer just because yesterday was so exhilarating and and it has been such a lovely failing to have crowd noise again. Because we've we've been went out and delivered this last week so that that was in the back of mind. I mean there were moments. I compensated in the way that i would've done with the crowd and then there was silence and i had to say oh i forgot. There's nobody here quite open because it's you might as well just be honest and admit it's weird. It is weird at the same time. I feel like for people like us certainly me anyway. I shouldn't speak few too. But i just i'm so i love watching sport so much when it's when it's tied and when the stakes are high the not having the crowd gives me something else and we. We definitely tapped into that at the us open and through some of the other events because kind of we. We didn't have any choice. It's either embrace that or be down about it all and if you actually listen and watch especially today as this was the first match i've ever seen of nadal at a grand slam. We had the two but at a grand slam especially with the little question marks about the back and all that sort of thing and being being pushed as hard as come pasha possibly push him. I loved just watching dow compete in this role style without any cut-away as to the crowd or anything just so pule to be out to. I felt like a like a sneaked into private match and could just watch. And and so i got something from that and i was intrigued by some of the matches exhilerated. Not really and it is. It is more pure than other slam tennis or any tennis that we've seen without crowds because they weren't prepared for this. There's no attempt to conceal the empty seats. There's no crowd noise track on standby it is exposed before your eyes and is

The computer screen keeps giving us an excuse not to get out of the house and engaged with the world. It gets real human interaction. I bet that food that we keep eating stuff taste good. Going down makes us feel like crap. The next week we feel when he put on weight will those people those places those things stop giving them your time and energy. Just don't go there. i mean. put them now. And when you do this when you put them down when you quit you quit giving them your time you inadvertently find yourself spending more time and in more places that are healthy for you that bring you more joy. Why because you just eliminated the who's the wears the once in the winds that were keeping you from your identity. Trust me too many options. I promise you there's too. Many options will make tyrant of is. All i get rid of the excess wasted time. Decrease your options. If you do this you will have accidentally almost innocently put in front of you. What is important to you process. Elimination how about that. I love this thought process in. This is so much what i think about. When i'm thinking about changes that i wanna make or when i'm thinking about if my anxiety is extra high or i'm feeling uncertain which guesses anxiety to right but this is what i think about like. What are there things in my life that are causing me more anxiety and discomfort in disease and this is people places and things we talk about this in twelve step programs a lot and again when you want to change something when you want something in your life to be different. Then you have to do things differently and often times. That's going to mean making decisions differently. It's going to mean different people. Different places different things. Have you ever thought about it this way about moving things that don't serve you rather than adding more things. i think. We have a tendency to add more things. Like we're always in this quest for happiness and it's about stuff and things wanting to add things to distract us right in. I'm all about distraction especially in the throes of a craving or high anxiety or when. You're super upset. I think in those moments one of the best things you can do is kind of distract yourself until some of that emotion comes down in then. You can figure
Why Is It So Hard to Remember What Day It Is?
"In the early part of the twenty first century psychologist dr david. A ls performed possibly the shortest experiment in the history of the social sciences. He gathered sixty five randomly. Selected test subjects invited them into his office one by one and asked them this fateful question. What day is today. that's it thank you. Please sign the release form on the way out done so what could possibly learn from asking people the day of the week. A heck of a lot as it turns out using this simple experiment and others ellis was trying to decode the complex psychology of time. And even to help answer. The age-old question wait is wednesday or thursday because although each weekday is twenty four hours long they're far from equal from a psychological standpoint. We spoke with ls via phone back in two thousand fifteen from the university of lincoln in the uk. He said when you ask people about monday and friday they have a lot to tell you and those words evoke very strong emotions whereas when you ask them about the middling days people tend to draw a blank asked to free associate about monday. Ellison test subjects wrote strongly. Negative words like tired boring early and rubbish it being the uk after all and when asked to describe friday they came up with wildly positive. Words like fun friends party and someone unexpectedly bacon. When asked about the rest of the week people struggled to come up with anything at all. Tuesday for some is like a monday hangover long and busy topped the list but the description most people came up with for wednesday was simply middle there even a lot more pop songs about mondays and fridays and other days of the week considered new. Order's blue monday mamas. And papas monday monday. The bengals manic. Monday the cures friday. I'm in love. Katy perry's last friday night. Rascal flatts friday though. Of course let's not discount. The midweek brilliance of the rolling stones ruby tuesday but ellis pointed out that there can be serious unintended consequences to these strong and weak psychological associations with certain days of the week he explained. Suicide rates are higher at the start of the week for example and stocks. Perform better on friday. Mr medical appointments also peak at the start of the week in the united states. These can be a costly inconvenience for doctors and patients but they can be costly to the whole community for state run health systems like in the uk the better we understand the psychological biases toward different days of the week ellis says the better we can tailor interventions and then settled nudges. That might have significant societal. Pay off in a previous study for example l. Found that working. People are much more likely to miss monday. Doctors appointments than retirees. The health system could save loads money but retirees at the beginning of the week. And us working stiffs on fridays. Which brings us back to the original question what they is it today when alice asked that question. He timed each subject's response on mondays and fridays. He discovered people gave the correct answer twice as fast as people ask on tuesdays wednesdays and thursdays some mid week folks couldn't think of the day at all given the strong if opposing psychological associations with monday and friday. It's not surprising that people are more aware of those days. It seems the rest of the work week and get lost in the shuffle.
IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN WORSE
"Alcohol was a looming cloud in this bankers. Bright sky with rare foresight. He realized it could become a tornado. How can a person with a fine family and attractive home. An excellent position in high standing in an important city. Become an alcoholic as i later found out. Through alcoholics anonymous. Alcohol is no respecter of economic status social and business standing or intelligence. I was raised like the majority of american boys coming from a family of modest circumstances attending public schools having the social life of a small mid western town with part-time work in some athletics. The ambition to succeed was instilled in me by my scandinavian parents who came to this country where opportunities were so great. Keep busy always have something constructive to do. I did work of all kinds after school and during vacations trying to find that which would appeal most as a goal for a life work then there was world war. Want to interrupt my plans and in education to be picked up after the war after that came marriage getting started and business and family. The story is not very different from that of thousands of other young men in my generation. It shows nothing or no one to blame for alcoholism. The drive to get ahead to succeed kept me too busy for many years to have any great experience with social life i would have begrudged the time or money for alcohol in fact i was afraid to try it for fear that i would wind up like many examples. I had seen excessive drinking in the army. During the prohibition era i was intolerant of people who drank particularly those who drank in violation of the law in time i became an officer and director of one of the largest commercial banks in the country i achieved recognized and national standing in my profession as well as becoming a director in many important institutions having to do with the civic life of a large city i had a family to be proud of actively sharing in the responsibilities of good citizenship. My drinking did not start. Until after. I was thirty. Five and a fairly successful career had been established but success brought increase social activities. And i realized that many of my friends enjoyed a social drink with no apparent harm to themselves or others. I dislike being different. So ultimately i began to join them occasionally. At first it was just that an occasional drink then. I looked forward to the weekend of golf. In the nineteenth hole. The cocktail hour became a daily routine. Gradually the quantity increased the occasions for a drink came more frequently a hard day worries and pressure bad news. Good news there were more and more reasons for drank. Why did i want increasingly greater quantities of alcohol. It was frightening. That drank was being substituted for more and more of the things. I really enjoy doing golf. Hunting and fishing were now merely excuses to drink excessively. I made promises to myself my family and friends and broke them. Short dry spells ended in heavy drinking. I tried to hide my drinking by going places where i was unlikely to see anyone. I knew hangovers remorse. Were always with me. The next steps were bottle. Hiding and excuses for trips in order to drink without restraint. Cunning baffling powerful the gradual creeping up of the frequency and quantity of alcohol. And what it does to a person is apparent to everyone but the person involved when it became noticeable to the point of comment i devised ways of sneaking drinks on the side rehearsals then became a part of the pattern stopping at bars on the way to or from the place where drinks were to be served. Never having enough always craving more the obsession for alcohol gradually dominated all my activities particularly while traveling
"hangover" Discussed on Behind the Steel Curtain
"Good evening. Pittsburgh Steeler fans. And welcome once again to behind the still presents the Steelers hangover once again, my friends. My name is Brian Anthony Davis from by the steel curtain with me as always it's my good friend also from by the still curtain empty deaf. Yo as we talked about everything Steelers in the post-game extravaganza called the hangover. Give me about twenty four hours to go ahead and digest the game. Of course, the Pittsburgh Steelers did not play yesterday. But members of the Pittsburgh Steelers were in action in Atlanta, Georgia. In the Pro Bowl and something very notable happened with that line of one catch for sixteen yards shoe do Smith's Schuster limped off of the field. All reports right now for saying that he should be. Okay. But that makes this person think that. Really we come to a point where the Pro Bowl is just not even worth it anymore for what could happen. So that's my question to use dealer nation, and Tony that's my question to you, my friend, good evening, buddy. Hey, Brian happy Monday cook yeti weekend as far as the Pro Bowl. If the question was that we come to the end, I think so yes, I didn't even watch it yesterday. So for me it ended last year when I saw them not tackling the game. You know, what I I did not watch it. But when when Mike Evans is getting interceptions and now with Kamara is playing defense, and you know, it's fun. But I go all the way back to believe from numbers taking I I will say nineteen eighty nine. We're f- AT's were one of the top rookie running back through the game. John Stevens for the New England Patriots. And that was a time when we did not hate the New England Patriots. They were still wearing really cool red, white and blue jerseys the red jerseys that wait how with the the patriot hiking the ball. That's when they were a team that they were kinda lovable losers at that point. They were nothing great. They played once Super Bowl completely destroyed by the bears a few years earlier, but he was at the Pro Bowl, and he wasn't even in. The game. They were playing the rookies we're playing an organized by the NFL beats football flag game. And he tore up his knee and just ruins career. I'm if I'm not mistaken, I don't the he ever came back. Was severe of in the injury Chon. Stevens was his name S T E P H E N F. Go ahead and look up. If you have nothing better to do. No me for my money yesterday. I I was happier. Just watching watching the Royal rumble last night. I would much rather watch that than the game which the AFC did prevail actually twenty six to seven. If anybody does care. I guess, you know, this is the hangover, Tony, I guess maybe we should go over stats from that game. What do you think? Sure. I know once that Jude you had one catch for sixteen yards. The other ones I'm not so sure about what's what's okay? So the leak outlet, you guess. Suit was the leading rusher for the AFC. Leaving the AFC James Connor. Same kind of six carries for eleven yards and a one point eight average. So the leading rusher was tyreek hill who had two carries for twenty four yards. And I guess they were probably reverses. But if I'm looking at this, a twelve eighteen total Kerry's, the the loan touchstone that came on the ground was from Anthony Sherman. He's a fullback, isn't he? I believe so. Yes. Sherman was four for eleven. I mean, the not not very good on that. And let's go head over to. This is so fun. So and I say that very quickly. But let's go ahead and see who the leading rusher in the NFC was and give me a phantom who's not Tom girly. He did not play in the. I'm gonna go. Errs rain back Cohen. I'll just take stabbing dark show reek to Rico in actually no star with three carries for thirty three yards though. TD's Zeke Elliott. Barkley was to for ten year. Boy, Cohen one Kerry two yards. Wow. The woman came were this did you? You know? I mean, I didn't even check to see if there was a fan or yesterday for the Pro Bowl actually should have the I'd put two there was and I bet you guys some BTS's..
