"Health Minister Matt Handcock said today that half of all adults in Britain have now received at least one covert 19 vaccine dose, becoming the world's first major economy to hit that milestone. On Brexit and Coronavirus, Boris Johnson Leaves It Late

"Johnson, called an emergency meeting this morning. A variant of the corona virus is spreading in the UK and scientists say it could be much more infectious. In the original. Other European countries, including France, Ireland and Italy, have now banned travel to and from the UK and here's Matt Handcock, Britain's health secretary, Talking in the B B C yesterday. The new variant is out of control when we need to bring it under control, and this news about the new variant has been a Um, incredibly difficult. And, frankly, in awful year, NPR's Frank Langfitt is just outside of London. Hey, Frank. Hey. Good morning, Doyle. So you have a travel ban. You have a lockdown in some parts of the UK It is sounding a lot like March and April with respect to isolation. It does. It feels very much more isolated than it did even just a few days ago here on the island of Great Britain. Now France has gone further and say no trucks coming from Britain across the English Channel on fairies. The Euro tunnel, which runs under the channel is also closed. This seems to be a precautionary measure for about 48 hours. There's a lot of concern now around the Christmas season. We've already seen backups at the port of Dover, 20. Miles long. And what's been happening is people are trying to get freight across the channel before the deadline for the Brexit transition period, which is going to end on New Year's Eve. Right now we have truckers stranded on both sides of the water and the on Lee. Good news, I'd say is that shipping containers, which are the majority of trade, they're still moving, because, of course, they're not people driving the shipping containers. Okay, let's establish something that scientists say often, which is that to say often, which is that viruses do mutate. We expect them to why our government scientists in the U. K so concerned about this particular mutation. I think a couple of reasons. One is that it quickly became the dominant version in this part of England, where I am out in London and beyond. And that's not a big problem. We saw that with the Spanish virus, not over the summer when people tourist brought it back from Spain, the problem and and in London, for instance, right now, this new Varian about over 60% of the virus is found. In London. The problem is that this domination is coinciding with exponential growth of the virus in these areas. Scientists now believe it could be up to 70% more infectious than the various mutations that are floating around this country. And that's why I think you're seeing the dramatic response of these European neighbors. And, of course, the lockdown that we have here in London. One important good news so far is there's no sign that this mutation Has more severe symptoms or or is more deadly. Okay, That's some good news. What about scientists outside of Britain? Are they expressing concern about this? They are the ones that I've talked to particularly last 24 hours, vaccine expert and epidemiologist. They don't like the data they're seeing either. This is Emma Hot Cross. She's an epidemiologist who studies coronavirus mutations of the University of Baron in Switzerland. This is what she said this morning. I do think that it's concerning And I don't say that very lightly. Certainly, as evidence has gathered with this new variant, it does seem like there might be an increased transmissibility. And so I do think we need to start being quite cautious about what we're doing about it. And as you said earlier, Frank, the timing here is really messy because Britain still hasn't been able to strike a free trade deal with the European Union. Time runs out on New Year's Eve. This can't make anything easier, Can it No, It just makes things even worse, And I don't think people would have even imagined that this was likely to happen. There's the great risk. If there's no deal on free trade, there's no free trade deal. We see customs and tariffs going up in Dover. Right now. Trucks aren't even crossing the English Channel. So it could be even more disruptive than what we imagined would do a lot more economic damage on both sides of the channel. NPR's Frank Langfitt. Thanks, Frank, great to talk to him. The

Christa is really pushing for this so I I reached out I needed it. I said Okay said Hey. Ho Hope all is as well. It was wondering if I could grab or how classic Intro was wondering if I cope ball as well I literally I. I asked five people whether that was good or not so good. They approved wondering if a good grab or have you send my Thera- gun Miami's are also asking. I needed to add a funny love it. Hey yes absolutely I'm sorry I've been. I've kept it from your hands. This long appear well also was just thinking about this weekend. I feel bad about sharing that sarcasm being like a little interested leader. Now it is so there's actually no plan yet hook he goes. Let me know Do you have any plans to be on my side of town or I can bring it over to you and like obviously my a a habit is like oh you know when I'm on your side of town or make it fuck and easy let you know when I have my hair done I mean obviously of course full face on but actually my reading with Nikki number. Really helps is helping me right now 'cause normally I'd be like oh tempted to just like go. He was thinking about me but I'm like actually is not not the one but anyway getting back with Aragon. Thank God that it was an awkward which is Great. It's coming back home. Maybe anyway. It's our year twenty nineteen year. I always like is just reminder. -Til out there sometimes conversations conversations don't have to be that complicated. Yo you know what I mean especially with dudes to be honest. Yes they don't they don't care need to be that complicated. You don't have to call them. You don't and have to tell them like I'm so sorry if this is I was thinking of saying sorry if this is awkward but I need my therapy back. There was no. I'm not sorry the people on my God dude. People are like this so awkward. When you're in public. It's like shut the fuck. This is so awkward and and I. I wonder what your what does the subtext about. It's like just be able to sit to sit in a moment that doesn't feel a hundred read yeah exactly their inability so awkward. What's awkward about it. It's like not every moment it's GonNa be like perfect. Totally freaks me out of freaks me out. His turn always be this dude that we had in our friend. That always be like whoa that was awkward and unlike do that. You're like us now it. Is You fricken loser. It's that guy that wants to be a comedian of course Bram. Bear bear used the word yeah. I hate that hate hate that lake. That sort of marced yet forced lake. I don't know just like a weird humor. Yeah Weird Humor you. We had our you everything good good good cut. We asked the we as the group what we what we should talk about for the Intros and there was a suggestion a suggestion into the books we've read this year our favorite books that have really impacted us or Ben thought-provoking or interesting and so we are excited to talk about that in this intro throw Ya and my reading pattern I've learned and now accept is that I can't really sit for hours on end and read. It's not but I have friends who do and I'm among little jealous. You know where I finished his book. Today I started at this morning. I took out of House Harry Potter. I wish I wish I had that. I don't know if it's attention attention span or what so my styles just I'm able to pick it up. Open read for twenty minutes an that's up for the day. I think the books that I'm reading now now. Don't really allow me to to do that because most are self help rea- so I need to take one bet absorb it digestion and that's actually really early in this I was listening to this podcast. I forget the name of it but the person was talking about how you really learn and you should really be able to process and digest the information in order to make it applicable so it's not like plowing through everything just to get it done. It's really absorbing it right. Yeah I can start I have like I had this random one suggested to me recently by my therapist but and she gave it to me women who run with the Wolves Nice heard of that myths and stories of the wild woman archetype and I wanna read from the back that just gives a really good idea of what the says within every woman their lives a powerful force filled with good instincts passionate creativity and angels knowing she the wild woman who represents the instinctual nature of women but she is an endangered species in this book. Thus doctor stays unfolds rich intercultural miss myths fairy tales and stories many from our family to help women reconnect with the fierce healthy visionary attributes of this instincts nature so basically like we. I've lost this like we are condition not to be wild woman to tap into her to be her to really express her so it's a a really nice digestible. I just read one story like every day and I didn't think I would story is to be completely honest. I'm like Oh myths and stories. He's you don't even then I'm like Oh. This reminds me of college. Were breeding of Odysseus. I don't really know but it's great it. Like Kinda puts you in that you know Dreamworld of Oh this. This is something I feel very deep. Deep inside of me and I'm really unable to express this and like why I love that I really I really liked being untamed women y'all and then for for work. I just dip into Brunei Brown's dare to lead every night for a few pages brave work tough conversations and whole hearts so it's really coming from a heart centered that took place when you lead and what's been really helpful as how those hard conversations and so much bad is through wilner ability so much of that is through a setting expectations so much of that is being honest. You know being honest. When maybe you don't know or when you fuck up up your team if you have a team respects you more and there is more interconnectedness and the full goal or the the overall goal so I really I love Bernie? She's she's the best so even if you're not managing a team if you're managing a family oh you know a lot of different social construct sandwich that same structure or prescription. She prescribed works I completely agree. I'm talk. I'm excited to see that I actually haven't read it. Yeah that's really good and then I always have my. I've mentioned this on the podcast before but my ask your guides by chicks chocolate coat coach. Shit now. I read this romance novel. I notice it looks like our own Ken. This is connected to your divine support it systems so she really gives you a set by subway. Then it gets deeper as you go along to connect your spirit guides to your writing dear guides to do you know different types of guides so it's really cool and you do a little experiments along the way in it fucking works the all who's the the author for that one. Sonia Coach Coquette C. H. O. Q. U. E. T. T. e. she also trust or vibes at this one's. Real Rogan love that she got to work one works spiritual or and then like a story time where he time one love that that's great correct so I actually plowed through all love Janine roths books this year I needed dig in. I have read anything so Janine Roth is she talks a lot about the emotional relationship chip and familial relationship that we have with food our relationship with food and I really love her approach. She's been really inspirational for me and a few other people people that were very close to yet simkin who's been on the podcast Janet Cabreja who's been on the podcast so I read all of her books. when food is Love Women Food in God when you're eating at the fridge pull a chair emotional eating or breaking free from emotional eating and there was just a bunch of them and there's actually one that was a workbook that I didn't. I didn't do but an end to be to be completely honest. I think if you just read woman food and God or when food is love. You'll be good you could you could explore the other ones about it because I feel like sometimes there is redundancy. You know when I read all of them. At the same time it was really beautiful to kind of explore the ways in which I could could see how my eating patterns within my life and with my childhood came to play with my relationship with my family with my mom and my dad and everything like that so so it's really informational. It's it's not like a diet broke. It doesn't really tell you how to eat when to eat or anything like that. It just helps you to really analyze and look at your relationship with with food and what food means for you and your life is food. Intimacy is food. Love is food. Freedom is food and escape. Whatever food is for you. It helps you really understand that and then works through that in a really beautiful way so interesting about that like is intimacy. Is it freedom as an escape. Yeah it's interesting. I know it's like so they describe each one and then deciders like a little quiz or not. West but CERNAN yeah. That's really just how I kind of thought it so in there is different ways and relationships that it is described but that's kind of the way that I gathered that information information yeah expand the ways that works cool but yeah it's really good and I would highly recommend for anyone that has binge eating. You know anything related. Did you any food issues where they would like to better understand why they do what they do as relates to food so that was really good. That's Janine Roth. I'm hopeful to have her the podcast and then I just I actually reading Graham handcocks new book America before INS about new discoveries discoveries as it relates to findings archaeological findings and historical findings that they've discovered in north and South America in the recent twenty years I and it kind of goes against the fact that we believe that we are the most advanced civilization civilization to exist today and it speaks to the fact that there were most likely more advanced civilizations than us that existed in the Americas in previous times and it talked about about a global cataclysm that ended the last ice age and how there was people living before us that were more advanced and had better technology than we do so it's really beautiful and it's just really interesting and and really thought provoking and I really love grandma handcock. I think he's an amazing person. I think he's so well-spoken and it's it's interesting seem to think about and talk about and with that. It's kind of like a fun oftentimes what I'm looking for in books as something to better understand myself but more you're so I'm always looking for information. That's interesting conversations. I want to be always thinking of new things. I want to always be bringing new information to the table. Whether it's a podcast with friends with my relationship it's really important that I remain dynamic in that way and I'm learning something new so great man Cox books are really good for that and Graham was also on the Joe Rogan podcast cast so you can hear that podcast episode and he talks a lot about it so if you want a teaser to the information from his book you can look look there and then I actually got recommended commended this book by a friend 'cause I'm looking for more information about the history of race relations in America and and how I can go deeper and that now I can learn more about that

They're going to put in their mouth or whatever the hell, they say they want to say, whether they're going to say, you know, this is the biggest prop. Is this any different ban any Admiral ward that we've ever gone? And this is how it starts. No. Does Does it? it? You're seeing the opening real for the movie didn't Trump the movie we, this is all going down. I says, George W got to be a war president. So can he be a worse? I, I think I think. Trump is sincerely, concerned about the name Trump in association with his shirt. And I think he, he, he may really this, a war with Iran not going to play. Well, this is not going to go well, so I'm I don't know if he's negotiating. I'll let you bomb living crap out of a ran if what Israel, the Golan Heights, if you get the regularity, some something, more something, and the debt goes to the roof, I don't see any any investment worthy of my time in the system or all are worried about who's it doesn't matter. We gotta do like J stuff. So when you're teaching classes, and so on, they get all these skills to what end. To spend more living lifestyle to say, yes, that if anyone say, yes. I want to say no to J skills are gonna come in handy, because they're messing with electric grid black blasting, all of a sudden becomes a very important skill with electric a whole bunch of axon. The survivor Mack zombie, apocalypse Dhabi's new EMP proof bug out truck run on anything us motor oil, vegetable oil, you know, hydraulic fluid whatever transformer former Cleland oil take literally goes like this. He goes now you don't wanna windy day, but. A bucket or a barrel underneath a transformer you shoot the bottom of the twenty two and just let it drain. I'll be dumb Moroz. That'd be living the life talking about former on a pole and not one of the ones from the movies. Okay. Hydraulics burn. But is a lot easier stuff. Like, you know semi trucks on the side of the road. Easel fuel or maybe not fully diesel fuel. But, you know, thirteen gallons of engine oil, you know, fifteen gallons transmission fluid hundred gallons of hydraulic fluid, if that has a wet line for like a dump truck or something. So it's identifying resources around you being resourceful, which is part of freedom. I give you perfect example. Yeah. When he looks at he's going because I'm taking Bob and I have been going, we really need something to cover. So what's he talking about? He's got a gold rush mandate line. They need some water retention they line with those pawn liners. Thick run the hell tape it up waterproof into done water freaking wait of a light on not leaking. Okay. God forbid some rain on it. You know. So we're going good. Yeah, why? Because Jay knows all this stuff. He cross referenced all of the things that he does build. Well. About how when skill in a poxy heat, the heat up at the same rate, so they don't expand pack and have the other fissures that you would have and other types of materials that I repeat that. Creena virus. You have the same expansion Thermo expansion rate, okay? All three yet. Well, not identical. But it's close enough. So the poxy doesn't start cracking on top. Wow. Better. If you stretched. Under two, and it seems necessary information to do anything, literally. Right. Absolutely. Because Bob tell about the dome that we finally put up, you know. "Roads. It's the earnest handcock show where we're going there arms. In rome. We don't do sticky. But if we did they'd all lead Roman Alexandra feeler. This is. Gordon introduce Halcion. We didn't do that properly, good friend, good friend of the show, and I really appreciate it. Alexandra Priscilla is an attorney in Italy Germany, and Spain. And it's fluent in five languages due to the socialist, indoctrination of European schools and universities. He joined Austrian economics and libertarian philosophy only in his mature years as an attorney, specialized in commercial in tax law, you often represents clients against the state, and the banksters faithful to the jeffersonian principle that when law becomes injustice resistance becomes a duty. He always drives to undermine as much as possible. The multiple laws whose only aim is to encroach on our freedom. You know Alexandra. He's one of those true, patriot kind men merica into, you know, vigilants type guy in ili injure many, and Spain. So this is he's defendant. All of us against the man, you know, in Europe is what's going on. Oh, and you get to keep your money. Oh, did he say that out loud? You're not allowed to say that. So what's going on, is there's a story that? Brace for impact Italy poised to launch euro parallel currency. Now. Why would they want to do that? Well, because they're not keeping with some agreement or European Union gets to control the budgets of individual countries or have some Sater veto power. You're not allowed or something. And it turns into that they can send a fine, you know, the European Union could slap three billion euro fine. I guess in pounds or euros, or whatever. So to say three Bill, it's like a lot of money in fine on Italy for excessive date debt. Well, yeah, they got a big dent. They're spending more. My name should and kinda kneel whatever, but the European Union just to have what kind of say, now we went through this with Greece before, and then, you know, who's going to lend him the money or not the money or they're going to default, and they oh, germ every Germany. And if you don't pay they got tanks. Well, then you got macaroni. And, and Merkalis guys are wanting to have a European Union army and I'm going. All right. Why do they need an army? Well, we're defense. Yeah, yeah, that's it. That's a ticket. You know, I'm going no there to enforce something. Well, is it? Well, we'll just take Rome. You know, then you kick consider your debt paid I I'm, I'm, I'm not really understanding, the concept European Union, and what I kinda get is it's kind of a trade agreement, but the biggest control and what they really I care. Not who you know who makes the laws as long as I get the control the money, and it seems to me that the European Union is totally based on banking. How far off Emma? You're not far off at all. In fact, the European Union is very weird construction..

Latest airport ransomware attack highlights how cybercriminals hold data hostage

"This past week Cleveland's airport began to recover from a computer attack that took down its flight information, baggage displays and it's Email. The FBI says it was another ransomware attack on a sensitive government network, ransomware locks up victims files until ransom is paid more. And more critical public service networks are the targets before Cleveland. The city governments of Newark, Atlanta, and Sarasota were hit and San Francisco's transit authority. The Colorado department of transportation and the port of San Diego today. Twenty six percent of cities and counties say they fend off an attack on their networks every hour, perhaps even worse. Dozens of hospitals have been held hostage across the country. In January twenty eight teen the night shift at Hancock regional hospital watched its computers crash with deepest apologies. The one hundred bed facility in the suburbs. Of indianapolis. Got it CEO Steve long out of bed. We had never been through this before. And it's something that I read in the journals. And I say, oh, those poor folks. I'm glad that's never going to happen to us. But when you come in, and you see that the files on your computer have been renamed in all of the files were renamed either. We apologize for files or were sorry. And there was a moment when I thought, well, maybe they're not so bad. They said they were sorry. But in fact, they had encrypted every file that we had on our computers and on the network. Well, the as we've said still had long told nine one one to divert emergency patients to a hospital twenty miles away. His staff turned to pen and paper. Nothing electron. It could be trusted. This is a ransomware. So this is a virus that has gotten. To the computer system. Would it have the ability to jump to a piece of clinical equipment could have jumped to an IV pump could have jumped to a ventilator we needed a little time just to make sure about that time was a luxury not offered in the ransom demand. Your network has been encrypted if you would like to purchase the decryption keys you have seven days to do. So or your network vials? We'll be permanently deleted. And then it gave us the the amount that we would need to pay to get that back and that came to about fifty five thousand dollars that was the same price demanded of the city of Leeds Alabama three weeks after Hancock hospital near David Miller was surprised his town of twelve thousand would be a target not much to notice in. It's at least not since Charles Barkley graduated from the high school. I didn't know that this Mauer attack was actually a ransomware attack soon as we've found that out that took it to the different level. How do you make? Well, it was. Going to cost us money white the hospital. The city of Leeds was cast back into the age of paper. No, Email, no access to its personnel files or financial systems can all companies and local governments expect to be attacked. I think everyone should expect to be attacked the FBI's might Chris man says cyber-crooks, no governments in hospitals are likely to pay because they can't afford not to until his recent promotion Christmas was in charge of the FBI's cybercrime unit. You're waiting for the day that somebody says we have the nine one one system held hostage in a major city, and we need ten million dollars today. I hope that day never comes. But I think we should prepare for that possibility. Crispin says in twenty seventeen seventeen hundred six cesspool rent somewhere attacks were reported. But he figures that's less than half more. Most businesses. He says would rather pay in admit they were hacked on the wear of one ransomware variant that affected all fifty states that had some thirty million dollars in losses and over six million dollars in ransom payments. I would tell you that the losses are very significant and easily approach one hundred million dollars or more just in the United States that ransomware variant. He's talking about is the one that held handcock hospital hostage. It's cold Samson. After one of its file names experts told Steve long Sam Sam is unbreakable. There was nothing that we could do to unlock those files are only choice was to wipe the system and hope that we had backups or to purchase the decryption keys to pay the rent. Indeed. That is exactly what that means. But Sam Sam had infected the hospitals back-up files, the FBI adv-. Vise long not to pay. But after two days after his staff filled out ten thousand pieces of paper, he paid the ransom. The crooks demanded digital money known as bitcoin ransomware is possible only because bitcoin is so difficult to trace mayor Miller held out two weeks before he paid his bitcoin ranson after a little bargaining at the said to grit my teeth and realized that this was a business decision. And that was the way to do it. So they asked for sixty and you paid eight how did you get there? Well, I agree and
