Alabama churches offer prayers after a tornado, the Church of England delivers an apology, and an image of the Prophet Muhammad sparks a college controversy.
"On this week's AP religion roundup, Alabama churches offer prayers after a tornado, the Church of England delivers an apology, and an image of the prophet Muhammad sparks a college controversy. I thank God that he even has grace and mercy in the middle of the storm. Pastor David Nichols leads a prayer service outside crosspoint Christian church, which was severely damaged by a tornado in Selma, Alabama. The service took place last Sunday after a tornado devastated the historic city, killing at least 9 people. The tornado hit the church's day care, collapsing walls and leaving piles of rebel in some of the classrooms. But the 70 children and teachers who huddled inside during the storm were unharmed. Reverend leota strong of the historic Brown chapel AME church said the community is still coming to grips with the damage and lives lost. It's difficult to wrap your mind around how all of this city could sustain damage of this type of this level. Reverend strong says he praised the community will draw even closer together in the wake of the storms. And the outcome might be that it might cause us to see that we need really need each other even more. The Church of England has formally apologized for its treatment of LGBTQ people. This is after it said, same sex couples will not be allowed to marry in the denomination. The apology from the church's bishops came in a report following 5 years of debate on the church's position on sexuality. Church leaders have proposed giving same sex couples the chance to have a church service with prayers of dedication, Thanksgiving, or for God's blessing. After they have received a civil wedding or register a civil partnership. An adjunct art professor is suing the Minnesota university that dismissed her for including depictions of the prophet Muhammad in a global art course. Erika Lopez prater alleges in a lawsuit that Hamlin university subjected her to religious discrimination and defamation. The university dismissed her after a Muslim student objected to a 14th century painting depicting the prophet Muhammad and a lesson on Islamic art. I'm Walter radliff
Bills' Hamlin faces long recovery, family spokesman tells AP
"Hamlin's marketing representative Jordan Rooney tells The Associated Press that Hamlin still requires oxygen, and that his heart is monitored regularly, Rooney says Hamlin is able to visit the team's facility but is not in position to travel often, and requires additional rest to help his body heal. Bill's coach, Sean McDermott, said earlier this week that Hamlin is taking a baby step at a time. I'm John of water
how do the blame worthy receive no blame?
"This is a scandal that America grounded all its flights for the first time since 9 11. Can you imagine the disruption that caused the disruption is beyond belief and it's being felt now? Yeah, no, I'm flying today. Yeah. I just missed it. What would I do? Today would have been not only would the whole day have been lost, but I could not have gotten to what I need to go to. A whole event. That's right. That's right. The chaos that is caused in people's lives by grounding all flights what Southwest did, incidentally, I did ask when it happened is to Southwest, hundreds of thousands of people, and what tens of thousands of flights I don't recall. A few thousand north. It was a 7000 flights. I take a look. It was a ridiculously high number. Anyway, has anybody been fired at Southwest? It's now weeks, so I was told, Dennis wade and C, they're not going to do it immediately, has anybody? It's run by a board of directors. Is that correct? There is a board that essentially every corporation exactly has anybody on the board resigned or been removed, has any CEO and the official of southwestern. Among the sad effects of the modern time in which we live is that people who are not blameworthy are blamed, like the teacher at Hamlin college in Minnesota who showed a 14th century painting of Muhammad made by Muslims. Made by Muslims. Honored by Muslims, venerated by Muslims, but one Muslim student, a radicalized Islamist girl, said she was deeply offended by it, even though she was warned, I am going to show this is an art class, and this is one of the great artworks of the early Middle Ages. It didn't matter teacher was fired. So they blamed the non blame worthy and the blame worthy get away with what they have done.
Bills safety Damar Hamlin released from Buffalo hospital
"More than a week ago, Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest after making a tackle during a game in Cincinnati. His doctors in Buffalo say they completed a series of tests. Sean McDermott is Hamlin's coach. Grateful first and foremost at his home and with his parents and his brother, which is great. I'm sure it's felt like a long time since he's been able to be home. The doctors who treated him in Cincinnati say it's a remarkable recovery. McDermott says Hamlin's job now is to continue that recovery. For us, as to Mars dad is said to us multiple times and tomorrow is mentioned as well. They want us to go do our job and that's what we've got to do. The bills are preparing to host their division rival Miami Dolphins in a wild card playoff game Sunday. McDermott says it will be up to Hamlin if he wants to visit the team. I'm Ed Donahue
Why so Much Hate for Andrew Tate?
"I want to touch on this subject about this kid named Andrew Tate, you know, there's a lot of people talking about Andrew Tate and I often wonder is Andrew Tate being set up or is she really a sex trafficking person? I would argue, and I don't know the truth that we the truth, the truth. At some point, I would argue that Andrew Tate more than likely is caught up in some conspiracy. Because all too often, if you want to destroy a man's life, because you don't like him, you don't respect him, whatever the case would be. All you have to do is say he raped you. All you have to do is claim that he was holding you against your will. And in Romania, I was listening to people explain laws and Romania. It's not like in the United States of America where you have to have a level of evidence in order for somebody to investigate a crime of that magnitude. And Romania, you could just make a statement and they arrest you to investigate the statement that was made. And this is what I heard from a person who was in law enforcement. Speaking to a person in Romania. Now, this could be completely false because I didn't talk to him. But just based on what I've heard, some of the stuff that I've looked at, that could be the case. A lot of people hate Andrew take so much. It's because they mostly women don't want to hear the truth about what he's saying.
6 Year Old Takes Mother's Gun to School, Shoots Teacher
"It's probably highly likely that the 6 year old is probably not going to get charged. The culpable mental state is about 8 years old. So any child under 8, they're not competent enough to understand the ramifications of being charged with a particular crime. It's called culpability. And culpable mental state is 8 years old and above. So anything under 8, which this kid is 6, he's probably not going to go to jail for shooting and killing a teacher. However, there should be, and I believe that there will be charges filed against the parents if they can in fact prove that the gun came from the house. And I would argue that, you know, for your 6 year old to get a gun, it should be for your 6 year old to get a handgun should be very hard. It should be very hard. Like, how can you not secure your handgun? You just shove it under the mattress or something. The kids should never notice there and have an incredibly hard time getting a gun. I don't know. How do you 6 year old get a gun? And why is your 6 year old even understanding what getting a gun would do? And I would have to argue that what probably happened was that you have a young man growing up in a violent, violent environment. Mama and daddy, daddy ain't there. I would argue that daddy ain't there. That boy don't have a daddy acting like this. More than likely. It's possibility that he does. But if you ask me, daddy ain't there. The young boy's parents is probably either using drugs selling drugs, gang banging or something. And there's a possibility that they are not. But if I had to make a guesstimate, I'd say that they're doing something. Listening to rap music and thugs out stuff. All day long.
How Idaho Police Avoided Spooking Murder Suspect
"I was right. I was right. I was right. I was right. Now, I'm not right because I'm just so I'm just this brilliant Brandon Tatum. I'm right because I have experience in law enforcement. So as article reads, it says how police avoid spooking the Idaho murder suspect. And I want us to understand this because this is very crucial. When this murder situation came out, it was a lot of open ended questions, and I said on this radio show, I said, there could be a lot of things that police have and they just can't say. They can't come out and say it. Because if you say, we found a suspect in this situation. The person who did the killing know that they own to them. And what are they going to do? They're going to start hiding evidence. They're going to start Flynn. They got made commit suicide. All of the above. And you can't say we found a murder weapon. All we found evidence of a murder weapon. You say that, then the suspect knows oh crap, I left the sheath to the knife, they got it, they got DNA, you know, then they start, and then you catch them, you catch them at some point, they need to change the story. And they say, you know, I never had a sheet. All of those things are apparent in this situation and occur in police. Interactions or police investigations.
Customer Who Shot Robber in Taco Shop Could Face Charges
"Welcome back. Welcome back. Welcome back. I want to just finish the conversation about the gentleman who was a good Samaritan and they haven't charged them with anything. Mind you. They're asking him to come in for questioning, but the good Samaritan in Houston, Texas at the taco shop that decided to take action. And I really believe that he did the right thing initially. But I wanted to just make sure that I had this conversation on the radio because this man, he was a hero, and I think sadly he's probably going to go to prison. Because using deadly force, let me explain this to us. Because some people may not be familiar, they may not understand, and I would argue if you carry a gun around you need to be well familiar and well versed on the law and what deadly force is and what it is not. Now, according to majority of the law, nationwide, daily force can be used if a person feels that their life is in immediate, danger of physical bodily injury, serious physical body injury or death. So if you fear that you can suffer serious bodily injury or somebody can kill you, you can use deadly force against that person. Now, deadly force is not murdering somebody or killing them. A person can die as a result of use of deadly force, but your intent is not to kill that person. Your intent to eliminate them as a threat of serious bodily injury and or death.
How Football Benefits Black Men
"Every year in the NFL Draft, there's hundreds of kids that lives are being changed forever and they become millionaires. And if they manage their money right, they can turn that flip that money, flip that notoriety into doing something better. Football is probably one of those the most incredible opportunities for black people. And a man getting hit in the chest and a freak accident that's violence against black people on the football field. It's a stupidest thing I've ever heard. Almost everybody on the field is black. And I'll tell you what, thanks to our ancestors, we just have an advantage. I'm just telling you, we have an advantage. I just have an advantage. Some of my wife friends had no nowhere near the athleticism of my head. Was it their fault? They worked just as hard as I did. No, it's genetically, we have an advantage. And instead of black people like this fool coming out and exploring those advantages and speaking life to the great opportunity that Hamlin had, look at the support that he had. You know, it just reminds me how stupid people really are. And I use that word because I'm frustrated at the way people act. You talking about a man that collapses on the field. Who's the people after doing CPR on them? Black and white. I saw nothing but white people doing CPR on them. Now I know it's their job, but they're still white. Clearly they didn't do a poor job. They did the best they can to save his life. He got transported to a hospital, they did the best they could to save his life and I guarantee the doctor then white.
Damar Hamlins Collapse Highlights the Violence Black Men Experience
"I mean, look at the more Hamlin. I mean, he got hit by another black player. You know, go and look at a holiday right now. Go to the YouTube and type it, not right now if you're driving. I don't want you to get in a crash and say Brandon told you to do it. All you gotta do is go on YouTube, look up NFL, knockouts. 99% of them are black players knocking out black or white players. What are y'all even talking about? Duke university, duke university, anthropology professor Tracy, Canada, wrote a peace Friday headlining that demar Hamlin's collapse highlights the violence, black men experiencing football. During wish she claimed that the anti blackness of the system is inescapable. She wrote, I can't stop laughing this woman is stupid. She wrote as a cultural anthropologist, I've spent the last decade learning how black college football players navigate the exploitation racism and anti blackness that are fundamentally in its current system. Despite the article's title, Canada later admitted I am not aware of any research that compares the rate of injury between black and white players, but she said it anyway. Because she's a nut.
Damar Hamlin Miraculously Released From ICU
"There's not enough time in the day to talk about all of the stuff that goes on in the world. But demar Hamlin. I hope the guy actually comes out of this and becomes a great guy. I hope that he don't get crazy and then we all did this for nothing. But anyway, I think that when we look at the totality of circumstances, this was an amazing miracle. Most people in his position would have never recovered. This was a show. Let me say this. And I know that this is not as extreme as 9 11. Now let me just keep that clear because of the shock factor of death and destruction is more prominent in the minds and consciousness of people than something that's miraculous rooted in love and compassion. So I want to make sure that's very clear there would never be a scenario where love and compassion will stain the memories of people more so than death and destruction. It just won't happen it's the way humans are made up. However, a close second in my personal opinion was demar Hamlin. When that young man went down with that injury and he had lost consciousness in front of the world, I have never seen so many people praying. I have never seen so many people mentioning God. I've never in my life seen a personal ESPN prey on national TV now. He should have said in Jesus name because then it tells me that he not reading his Bible as much, but it's the thought and the perception that counts. The pursuit that counts, not the perception, but the pursuit. I think in good faith, he prayed on national TV, he took the chance. I don't think it was scripted. Pray to the lord on national TV. Everybody in the world is watching what happened to this young man and they watched him recover. In my personal opinion, that should be a sign that God is moving and operating in our day and time.

Sanders kicked the game winner from 50 yards out with 18 seconds left, and a battle of third string quarterbacks it was rookie 7th round draft pick, Skylar Thompson, who did just enough to send his team to the postseason. Seeing a win and feeling a win is important and especially going into the playoffs. Going to buffalo, which is a very good football team. We're going to be confident. Thompson completed 20 to 31 for a 152 yards and no interceptions to help the dolphins snap a 5 game skid. The Bengals beat the ravens 27 16 to avoid a coin flip for home field when the two teams meet again in the AFC playoffs next weekend. Cincinnati scored touchdowns off three first half turnovers by quarterback Anthony Brown. Joe burrow was 25 of 42 for 215 yards one touchdown and no interceptions. If he didn't win this one, I guess technically we would have won the division, but wouldn't have felt like it. So it's good to get this one. We're going to have to play better next week to get the win. Especially me. The bills played inspired ball less than a week after teammate demar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest during a game. For the first time in franchise history, the forty-niners ended the season on a ten game win streak after convincing 38 to 13 win over the Cardinals. The forty-niners are locked in as the number two seat in the upcoming NFC playoffs. Brock purdy was 15 of 20 for a 178 yards and three touchdowns. We look at it as a challenge, but we're also excited because it's like, man, if we do play to our full potential, it's like, what else could we do? So those are the kind of things that we ask ourselves every day and we're excited about, but I'm excited moving forward for being on a win streak. In the final game of his career, JJ watt had two sacks and 5 total tackles, but the Cardinals lost 7 straight to finish at four and 13. "As the ambulance carted Hamlin away in Cincinnati, we all braced for the absolute worst tragedy. Broadcasters were a time speechless, left near tears. Could this really be happening? All that really matters in this moment is Hamlin's health. He remains in critical condition at the university of Cincinnati medical center after suffering cardiac arrest following a hit. We want to express our sincere gratitude for the love and support shown to damar during this challenging time. Hamlin's family said in a statement released on Tuesday, we are deeply moved by the prayers, kind words, and donations from fans around the country. The GoFundMe that Hamlin had started back in 2020 to buy toys for children in his hometown near Pittsburgh, exceeded $4 million in donations by midday Tuesday. It had raised about $3000 going into Monday night. America, however, is a football crazed nation, so Hamlin's collapse will have to force a reckoning. As we pull so hard for Hamlin's survival, it's also appropriate to ask ourselves, can we in good conscience keep embracing this game? People have been wrestling with this question for more than a decade as science has shed light on football's health consequences. Chronic, traumatic encephalopathy, CTE, was once an obscure entry in medical textbooks. Now, it's the neurological disease associated with repeated blows to the head known for afflicting more than 300 former NFL players and perhaps hundreds more the condition can only be definitively diagnosed, post mortem. After years of resisting the notion that head trauma caused CTE, the NFL finally acknowledged the link between CTE and football in 2016. Hamlin did not suffer a head injury, many medical experts suspect his heart stopped due to commotio Cordis and extremely rare, but sometimes fatal disruption to heart rhythm resulting from a blow to the chest. Still, his injuries showed that despite the NFL's measures to make the game safer such as harsher penalties for head to head contact and cutting down on contact and practices, football remains an inherently violent sport that puts players at great risk. Up to this point, football's brutality hasn't damaged its standing as the nation's most popular sport. The data couldn't be clearer, the Denver Broncos, for example, sold for $4.65 billion in 2022. The richest franchise transaction in U.S. sports history. Amazon is paying the NFL around $1 billion a year to show Thursday Night Football games. And according to variety, 31 of the 35 most watched prime time telecasts of 2022 were NFL games, with Super Bowl 56 leading the way with some 99.7 million viewers, only the college football national championship game, a night of Beijing Olympics coverage on NBC immediately following the network's Super Bowl coverage, the Oscars, and an episode of Yellowstone also ranked. Something about this incident, however, feels different.
Heart screening may not have prevented Hamlin's collapse
"Doctors described demar Hamlin's neurological function as excellent and say the Buffalo Bill safety continues breathing on his own. The team's daily update also says he remains in critical condition at the university of Cincinnati medical center. Quick on the field emergency care, including being resuscitated in that game at Cincinnati on Monday is widely credited with helping save Hamlin's life, but it's unclear if his cardiac arrest could have been prevented with screening, cardiac testing, including EKGs and echocardiograms can detect some but not all heart conditions. One fluke type of chest trauma is impossible to predict or prevent. I'm Julie Walker.

Hamlin joined the team's morning meeting by video conference on Friday, bills coach Sean McDermott. They stood up right away and clapped for him and yelled some things to him and it was a pretty, pretty cool exchange. Hamlin went into cardiac arrest in the first quarter of Monday's game against the Bengals. Meanwhile, the NFL has approved a resolution that could move the AFC title game to a neutral site. That would occur if both teams played an unequal number of games and could have been the number one seed. NBA. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving led the nets to their 13th win in 14 games. One O 8 one O two versus the pelicans. Duran had 33 points and ten rebounds, Irving scored 19, including a deep three to put the nets ahead one O 6 100 with 44 seconds remaining. Our growth as a team is just seeing some of our leaders on our team included myself, just be poised. And it's making a big difference. AOC, GOP Rep. Gosar Talking in House Has Twitter Abuzz
"This article says that Twitter freaks out over AOC, chatting with GOP lawmakers during speaker vote. Somebody made reference that it wasn't on the 2023 bingo card. It says observers tune into the house speakers vote on Tuesday were surprised to find known rivals Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Paul goes off from Arizona, chatting casually in the House chambers. In a clip captured by C-SPAN and Wiley shared online gosar and Ocasio-Cortez seated alongside one another are engaging in what appears to be a friendly conversation during the break after House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy speakership bid fail short of the required 218 votes. The exchange was shocking, largely because of the lawmakers continuous history with one another, which came to a head when gosar tweeted an animation spoof video depicting violence against AOC and President Biden. At the time AOC accused gosar of being a white supremacist. Kosar was censured, censured, which is a different word and censored, censured, and stripped of his committee assignments as a result.

"Been around damar. We offer our prayers to him, his family. People in that organization, they've been through a lot, and this is tragic. You know, haven't been around the young man, know him, know the type of person he is. Yeah, that's tough. You just want everyone to know that they got a lot of people that care for them in this building and that the relationships, like this is one of the reasons why you build the relationship. So the people that are hurting from this can come talk to the people they need to. Let's be honest, nobody's fine. I think we all have a tendency to say we're good. So that's where our mind is and that's where our focus is. I mean, we obviously know what's in front of us, professionally, but our spiritual Audi playbook was open today. My heart aches for the whole bills organization, specifically the most family and himself, but also everybody that chooses to play football and the things that those emotions can elicit. I wish I could do something about it. Unfortunately, I can't. I don't know in moments like this, the slight minute comfort that I do find is there seems to me a pervasive pervasive theme when tragedy occurs for whatever reason you end up seeing glimmers of the best face of humanity. So I think there has been examples of that. Of people really aiding and supporting each other. It's a slight solace to an otherwise terrible event. The buffalo sports community came together last night. The buffalo Sabres, players, were t-shirts with love for three as they walked into the arena. And at the university of buffalo, they also honored Hamlin, joining the United spirit of sending well wishes to damar and his family. This community incredibly connected. And they're known for that in Buffalo. For more now, we bring in Elena gets emberg, who's in Buffalo and has been covering this story so detailed since Monday night. Elena, what has the last day been like in Buffalo? Yeah, Laura, on my way on my drive down here to the stadium. I actually saw a billboard that said praying for demar Hamlin. And I think that perfectly describes what this past day has been like. This community, I live here. I've seen what it's like, this community has gone through so, so much this year, and they are praying for demar Hamlin. We're seeing signs all over the city of buffalo behind me, the stadium, all of the jumbo little jumbotrons they have around the stadium, have damar Hamlin's name on them or recognizing him. This community is hurting. And I also, you know, this team is dealing with this on an emotional level. I reached out to multiple people in the organization today just to see how things are going. And you can tell they're not just worried about themselves, worrying about tomorrow and his family, but worried about each other and really caring for the people in the building. So right now this is a community, a team that is hurting and really just hoping for the best for demar back in Cincinnati. Yeah, along those lines, Elena, what is the rest of the week look like for the bills? They do play on Sunday against the Patriots. Yeah, Laura, I actually just as we were coming on to talk to you, the bills made a roster move and signed a safety. Jared made in from the jets practice squad. They released Xavier Xavier Rhodes a cornerback in a corresponding move. So that's an example this week is going on as scheduled. The bills held a walk through today. They had team meetings. We got to almost eerily normal injury report, Taryn Johnson was limited with a concussion. It's normal. They held a walk through. They're going through practices. They are preparing for this game on Sunday against the New England Patriots in the weakest continuing pretty much as it normally would, which given the circumstances and everything going on is a lot to say, but right now it's business is going on in there preparing to play the Patriots on Sunday. Yeah, I'm sure it's going through the normal motions when things feel completely abnormal for everyone involved. Thanks to Elena gets and for the latest from buffalo. And steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett tweeted yesterday with you every step of the way three picket and demar Hamlin were teammates at the university of Pittsburgh. They both served as captains for the team in 2020, the video you see here was tweeted by Hamlin before the bills and steelers game earlier this season. You can see the love that those two have for each other. And here's more from Pickett today. Tomorrow, you know, he's unbelievable person. Does so much for the community, a guy from Pittsburgh, stay at home. Couldn't went anywhere he wanted to. You know, stayed home and we had a great run together and he had an unbelievable career at captains together in 2020. Just all around, you know, great person and great family. You know, his brother was always around the facility. You know, so they're just like pit family, you know, to all of us and myself included. So, you know, prayers, thoughts and prayers are with him and, you know, just trying to keep in touch with his family through coach our dudes, yeah, I'm sure they're getting swamped with messages, but trying to stay up to date on how he's doing. And, you know, it seems like everything's going in the right direction. And just hoping not for the best one, we just want to get better. You know, I think football creates bonds like no other sport. I play basketball. I play baseball. I don't know, football has something special to it. You just go through so many ups and downs together and having four years with them are my teammates are all over the NFL and we're continuing to stay in touch and you create special bonds. He's like family to me and guys around the league are all checking in on each other and making sure everyone's okay, especially guys who have played with them or on the buffalo team or back at pit. So everyone's rallying together for tomorrow, so it's good. You know, it bums me out a little bit that something horrible has to happen for us to find out a little bit more about the great man under the pads. That is what's going on though with demar Hamlin and the bond that you're seeing about so many people who care deeply about him. So many people who have been added to that list of people who care, we all feel like we do. And we don't even know him that well like these other guys do. How would you describe just seeing that Bond play out real time marketing? I think it gives everybody perspective, right? I always liken it to, you know, you know this boogie, like when a family member passes and all of the family gets there and they say, we need to get together more. We need to talk to each other more. I need to call you more. I need to pick up the phone and reach out or I need to answer more when you call. And I think everybody has this reflective moment of what could have been. With demar and while he still fights this battle, but to see Kenny Pickett talk about him and the one pointing thing, football brings us together because it's so hard. And I know we try to explain that to people, but being a player, you see guys go through, you see guys get cut and brought back, you see the tension and the angst that lies there when cut tore about to happen. You see, I've seen celebrations in the locker room when a guy has made the team and we didn't, he was on the bubble, and we didn't know he was going to make it. It's just every gambit of emotion you usually go through in this game because your fight I've always said this. You're fighting mental and physical when you play football a 100% of the time. So it makes it different because you look at that guy in the locker next to you and you know that he's dealing with the same thing. You're dealing with. Unless they are kicker or something. You had to get that in there. Wow. We apologize to all the kickers out there. A reminder too that Coley Harvey, who's been outside of the hospital where demar Hamlin is still in intensive care, reported earlier, some progress overnight, some signs of the doctors wanted to see still certainly a long way to go. We'll keep you updated on everything related to damar Hamlin. And coming up next on the show, the eagles have lost two straight without quarterback Jalen hurts.

"Yeah. But that's just what the city does. That's what these fans do. And I think that it resonates with people outside of buffalo, and they kind of took on the spirit of what we typically see here in Buffalo. Yeah, I mean, it occurs to me that this community effort that you're describing seems like an eerily perfect fit for the mission that this kid, demar Hamlin, now 24, but dating back to when he was a pre teen was always interested in. And so as this person, the only person that I know who has who has spent quality time with the man who has done the most important buffalo activity of all with him, Eden, untold numbers of wings. When you think when you think back to the time you spent with him, what are the quotes that continue to sort of echo in your brain as you continue to monitor also just as well-being in that hospital in Cincinnati. It's a great question because there's definitely one that will stick with me for the rest of my life. It is the reality that tomorrow is not promised. I mean, he was listing off so many of his friends that tragically died and he never really know why. He never really know who did it and you never really get answers. And so I got to a point in demar Hamlin's life where I mean, you don't know what's going to happen tomorrow. You don't know if the person you're talking to, your loved one, your mom, your dad, your uncle, your best friend. You don't know where their life is going to be. The next time you have a conversation with them. So what demar Hamlin said it would rank through my head, you know, as he is literally on the turf, getting CPR, and I actually pulled up my story because I remember him saying it, it kind of stuck with me then, and I wanted to see it again, but I mean, these are demar Hamlin's words. The way I grew up teaches you to cherish everybody in your life because you never know who you'll lose, you could lose anybody. Everybody I talk to, I say, I love you. And that's neighborhood tradition. So if we take anything from demar Hamlin, it's that, right? I mean, this is incredible that millions upon millions of dollars are being poured into his life mission. But just telling somebody you love them. I mean, I found myself doing that. During this game, reaching out to my wife, my mom, my dad, my brother, my sister. That's how I try to end every conversation with, I love you. And if we take anything from demar Hamlin, it's that. Right? Just love the people close to you and live every day to the absolute fullest. This is somebody who does that in every possible way. And I'll just say this too. I mean, his spear he's fighting like hell right now. I mean, I've reached out to some people close to him and I think that's what you hear is this is somebody who's going to fight and fight and fight and he's got everybody behind him. That is for damn sure. Tyler Dunn, thank you for telling us this story. Hey, thank you so much for having me,

"A young player, listen, you're aware of them. We know what the game is. I think like the reality for young players is from a very early age of starting to play football. You're taught how important being physically and mentally tough is. Physically and mentally strong. And just a brutal reality is if you're not, you can't make it in the NFL. You know? And so like as a young player you think, that's the most important thing because if it's not, I don't have a career. And then I think the reality is over the years of playing this game, you start to do really hard things. Like things that you physically and mentally, like didn't think you were capable of and you start to prove to yourself like, oh, I could do all these hard things, right? I could do the things that I didn't think I was capable of. And it gives you this belief of invincibility. I could do anything. You know, like, I'm Superman. And the injury stuff and the fear of injury, I feel becomes so much less and less and less as the years go, because you prove to yourself, in many ways, and again, to your own mind, I could do those hard things. I could do those things that hurt all that training in preparation. And while you're aware of the potential of it, you somehow some way become so consumed with the almost the draw to do difficult things that you don't think anything can stop you. You know, and that's one of the reasons why guys make it in the NFL and one of the reasons why guys don't. Yeah, you get desensitized to a lot of human elements. You know, we joked about this when we played. You get a high angle sprain and football, you rehabbing in two days. You get it working a normal job. You got 6 weeks paid leave. And not to make light of the situation. But I'm gonna go into my home because I was speaking to my wife and she was checking on me last night. And it's funny how people will check on us. That's former players, right? And I'm in my mind is solely on demar book. We have a 13 year old son, and we talk about BNB. We show June highlight playing football. Every Monday on this show. And our real conversations that we had for that one year that he played football. My wife was terrified. Yeah. And before he was born, when she knew we were having a boy, before he was born, she was like, he's not playing football. And I was like, well, why would you say that? In my mind, I'm like, if he pushes me and he tells me he wants to play, I'm going to allow him to play, but he's going to actually understand what comes with this game. And I think that's the difference. I think that's the conflict that parents are have been going through and based on this or going to go through. When you're having these conversations with your 6 or 7 year old and they looking at their favorite player and they looking at these guys, play on Sunday and they see the enjoyment of the game, it is our responsibility even more so to let them know what the risks are, but also allow them to chase that dream if they want to. It's difficult. I want to quickly go back to RC's actual tweet saying the next snap of football we see will be the scariest. I feel that we're going to be doing a game on Saturday a week 18 game between the chiefs and the Raiders. That would be the first time that we see football again played at the NFL level and I'm trying to grapple with what it's going to be like and maybe even the cringe factor of thinking, I just hope everyone's going to be okay. Now I obviously never played the game. Yeah. The fear. It's a very real fair. It's an unknown. You know, like, I sit here right now and I'm emotional, you know, about it. You know, like I watch RC from last night, and he's emotional. And honestly, I've been emotional a couple of times today. I don't know demar. I don't know him, you know? But I feel like I do. You know, like, when you watch that last night, again that bond of football, it's like, I know that guy. That could be my son one day. Like, that could be you. That could have been RC, you know, like in that very real relationship that you build in that game is so unique that the game of football while scary and dangerous, it builds those bonds that you can't really fabricate in anything else, and that's why I like the emotional attachment for X players or guys that are still playing is so real because you sit there and you think like, why him? Why that guy? And even though you don't know him, you feel like party was there with him. Party was there with his family watching this and it feels like your brother is down on the ground and I was just like, it's a very difficult thing as an ex player because Mark, as you mentioned, it's our job to make everyone aware of the realities, but it's so hard unless you're in it. Isn't it? Like it's so hard unless you're in it, you know? And you become calloused. To the reality of it in a good way. And this was just like the very real exposure of some of the real aspects of it. I think maybe it's a complicated reality. There's some glory and beauty to this game that we all love and that we celebrate and that I think we prop up. But yet you watch something like this that none of us have seen before and it is a stark and very harsh reality. Our coverage of demar Hamlin continues ahead. Keyshawn Johnson joins us with insight on what it's like to be on the field as a player during a situation similar to last night. I just had finished up with Pitt and the first thing I wanted to do was do the toy drive and you know, it was a great success. It was something that we did shorthanded. I definitely feel like this year coming up will be a lot better than last year, but it was amazing turnout. It was over $5000 donated and so many toys, everyone in my community was able to come out, get at least two to three gifts, and just be able to just have a great Christmas, you know? "The best news on Hamlin and believe me, I wish we could give it to you. As of right now, he remains in critical condition after a cardiac arrest. I'm praying for a miracle for demar de wake up and see the beautiful support he's received from across the world for this young man who is so selflessly given to those in need to be able to live a full life. I can't stop thinking about damar's mom, Nina, who was in the stadium and ultimately rode in the ambulance to the university of Cincinnati medical center. She's in a nightmare, no mother should have to endure. Thinking of his dad, Mario, and 9 year old brother demir, demar is his hero. I'm heartbroken for the players who saw what no one ever imagined seeing on that field. A jarring reminder of the fragility of life. We love this game for so many reasons that don't seem important right now. As that love has morphed into fervent hope for demar Hamlin's life. The family released a statement this afternoon that read on behalf of our family, we want to express our sincere gratitude for the love and support shown to demar during this challenging time. We are deeply moved by the prayers kind words and donations from fans around the country. We also want to acknowledge the dedicated first responders and healthcare professionals at the university of Cincinnati medical center who have provided exceptional care to damar. We feel so blessed to be part of the Buffalo Bills organization and to have their support. We also want to thank coach Taylor and the Bengals for everything they've done. Your generosity and compassion mean the world to us. Please keep damar in your prayers. We will release updates as soon as we have them. Thank you, the Hamlin family. Coley Harvey has been at the hospital since last night gathering news. Coley, what do we know about the status of Hamlin right now? Laura, we know essentially what you just referenced. And that is the fact that damar Hamlin is still in critical condition. What we can tell you as well as according to the Buffalo Bills in a statement released earlier this afternoon, Hamlin was taken into the ICU last night when he arrived at University of Cincinnati medical center, and he remains in the ICU. That is according to a statement from the team. We've also heard not just from the family and from the bills, but also even from the Bengals who released a statement via owner Mike Brown earlier today, and he commented on something that you just referenced from the family. And that is the first responders, those medical responders on the field who administered the care immediately to demar Hamlin, giving him that CPR that was so crucial with this particular injury. And according to Mike Brown's statement, he says his medical personnel undertook extraordinary measures, both teams demonstrated respect and compassion while fans in the stadium and people around the country bolstered the support for demar and the love for each other. And that's the sentiment that we've been gathering all throughout these last 16, 18 or so hours since this injury occurred. What has the scene been like at the hospital today is we continue to wait for the next update. It has begun to pick up. We've been out here again, all night last night, all morning today. It was pouring rain earlier this morning. So you didn't really see the same response that we saw last night in terms of the fans showing up to pay some level of respect. That is beginning to happen. We're starting to see a tribute just about a block or so this way from where I'm standing right now. That's beginning to grow. A few fans were actually out at 3 p.m. eastern, holding a moment of silence for demar Hamlin. They also set a prayer at that moment. And I've been told that at 8 55 p.m. eastern tonight, which is the same time when demar went down on the field. That fans are going to hold a candlelight vigil as they continue to try to lift him up. They're going to do that just another block or so like I said down from where I'm standing right now and will be monitoring that and seeing just how many people turn out because again, The Rain has stopped. It's a lot clearer right now. Just quickly, I want to also add last night. I had a chance to see bill's receiver Stefon Diggs coming in right here at this corner in an Uber and I actually helped him walk towards the emergency room because he didn't know exactly where to go. And as he told me and later told the police officer who kind of had to question both of us as he was trying to make his entrance, he said, look, I'm frustrated right now. We need answers. We want to know what's going on with our teammate. That's our brother. And eventually the police officer let him through. And so I can tell you that Stefon Diggs did get a chance to go into the hospital, but as we also know the bills are back in Buffalo today. Does support for Hamlin worldwide thanks to Cooley Harvey from the latest there and we'll check back in with you if anything happens. Hamlin went to high school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania played his college ball at Pitt. Steelers head coach, Mike Tomlin, as you see there, had a personal relationship with Hamlin. He spoke about that today. It's about demar Hamlin. Man, it's a really personal thing for me. Being a Pittsburgh and that young man being a Pittsburgh, I've known that guy, probably since he was about 12, just got a lot of respect and love for him as a human being. His commitment to the pursuit of his goals and dreams of doing what it is he's doing right now, which is playing in the NFL and to watch him make personal decisions and make that a realization, it's just an honor to get to know young people like that. Had an opportunity to express that to them whenever I see them, we've played buffalo, each of the last two seasons, and he and I get to have a moment. Because it's just cool to not only appreciate these guys in terms of where they are now, but to know them since they were younger people and to watch their maturation, their development to watch them, you know, earn what they've been chasing. It's just really a cool thing. And he's an example of that. I got a lot of love for that young man. We lifted here him and that organization up in prayer. Dan orlowski and Marcus spears with us. Dan, what was it like for you watching all of this unfold last night? Uh, yeah, so last night I was traveling back from a college football game and in the airport in RC, Ryan Clark, FaceTimed me. And I was like, man, why is RCI? I wasn't there in a television FaceTime me and I answered the phone and he's like, bro, damar Hamlin just collapsed in the game. And I was like, what do you mean on the sidelines or something? He's like, no, and he explained the events of what happened. And I'm sitting there going like thinking like, what are you talking about? You're like, I've never heard this when it comes to a football game. And I see RCs like facial expressions and the way he's speaking and immediately I knew this is different. You know, this was very real to RC. And so after chatting for a little bit, I'm like, all right, I got to find my way to a television. And as I got to the television, like my initial thought was like, he'll be okay. He's a football player. He's going to be okay. And then as I watched. As I watched the teammates reactions, like I thought of the locker room. And I thought of, you know, the relationships that football builds and thinking how football for everything that is, it's just so different. It's just so those people that you share the locker room with a different relationship than basically any you have in your life outside of maybe your spouse. You're tested through more. You've been through more together. You share so many similar goals and dreams and aspirations. You've come from so many similar challenges and when you, when you see the teammates reaction, when I saw the teammates reaction, I thought to myself,

"That their fans unsolicited join bills fans and within an hour had a candlelight vigil on a prayer service outside of that hospital. Bengals quarterback Joe burrow going into the bills locker room as did many other Bengals players into the locker room to console their opposition about the terrible tragedy that unfolded before them. On the gridiron in Cincinnati. Out of tragedy, it is wonderful and a blessing to see the good that comes out of people on so many different levels. Yeah, and you know, again, it's about debar Hamlin and that's the biggest thing you've got to just hope that he gets through this. And Stefan, we've said this, it's something we've never seen before and you just got to hope that guy pulls through and we'll figure out the rest after that. Yeah, I was watching the game with family in Canada, my brother, who's a physician and it happened. He remembered the lions bears game. I believe it was early 70s, 1971, or an NFL player died on the field. And it was, he specifically remembered buckets. The famous beers linebacker Hall of Famer, who was calling medical personnel over in 1971 and tragically, this player died. And so many thoughts went to, oh my God, is this going to be the second NFL player to pass away on the gridiron on the field? But you can't say enough about medical personnel who are there instantaneously, trainers, doctors, everybody from both teams, hearing that for 9 minutes, he was given CPR. I mean, talk about literally at this time a lifesaver. And not for nothing. That was the first 9 minutes. Then there was like another 21 of before he went to the hospital of you, frantically making sure he's okay getting him into the ambulance. The ambulance, I don't know if you saw the story last night waiting for his mother to get him to the ambulance. And his father, they waited for them because she was frantically trying to get down on the field. And that's the other thing too. Obviously, your thoughts are what the player, but then there's the other side of it, which is family. And then his teammates, right? And anybody who's been a part of a sport knows your teammates are your own fan. These guys see their teammates more than they see anybody else in their life for 6 months a year. Watching reactions of superheroes, I'll call them like a Josh Allen or Stephon Diggs or any of those guys and watching them visibly just sick. And again, I was at the cavern Everett game. I remember that. This was not even in my opinion. The reactions of people watching them and their faces real time was just scary. It was scary. And especially at his poor mother was there. Right. In the crowd. I mean, as sun soon to be Dan as a father, you're just thinking, my God, that poor woman.

"You know, like we all say it's a game. It's just a game, but it's your family at the end of the day that really means everything. And I tell everybody that the bills players and the staff, their family, the western New York. But yes, family is everything and we really hope and pray he's going to be all right. Amen to that. All right, John, thanks for joining us. Wish it was for something better, maybe in a few weeks, we can have you on for you winning fan of the year. Thanks, guys. Appreciate it. All right, take care. Thanks again. Yeah, I didn't know. I thought that his GoFundMe had a lot more money in it. I didn't realize it was that low. The goal was 2500. I think it was at like 1500 before the game. I mean, insanity. I mean, last night were recorded on Tuesday. Last night, Stefan, a half hour after it was over a 100,000. And then it went to 300,000. And then it went to 500,000. This morning I woke up, it was at over 3 million. God knows what it's at now, but yeah, and that was the chasing em's foundation on GoFundMe. And I was going through the list of some of the donations. You mentioned 1500 bucks total prior to his injury. There are people who are donating $5000 at a time. And I think that goes to the testament again, right away, bills mafia, the first reaction from fans from fans was canceled the game, do not play pray for demar Hamlin. And then, okay, what can we do to give? And the fact that his GoFundMe for his charity and his foundation is up to the millions of dollars. I think speaks to the testament of the hearts of bills fans, Bengals fans. NFL fans are around the country and the fact that this is just a good guy. We got to pray for it. And I was going to say that they were talking this morning on the radio. Miami fans were throwing in money. And again, you expect people to help out. But your biggest rivals are pitching in money. And I saw this last night. It's right. It's almost sad, but events like this bring people together. You forget about all the bad, right? And you come together and you do what's right by the player by the families, this charity. And I'll be one to say, knock on wood, this goes well. And he gets out of the hospital in a few days or a few weeks. Maybe the next GoFundMe is for Cincinnati hospital or the people of Cincinnati something in their neighborhood because they did, in my opinion, a phenomenal job last night of getting what needed to get done on the field. And then at the hospital and everything around it. Yeah, the entire Bengals organization, their head coach going to Sean McDermott's and having the conversation of, okay, why are we even thinking of continuing this game? Unsolicited Bengals fans going to their trauma center. And I didn't know this until reading tons of stories that specifically the NFL in every city. They designate. They have an emergency plan. That they go through once a year, and that every single city has a designated trauma hospital. Obviously buffalo ECM C is that trauma center.

"Yeah, it was weird a couple of the last people have probably leave the stadium. It seemed our seats anyways and you just looked around and be like, wow, this is horrible. It's about all we can say to each other. This is absolutely horrible. And yeah, we walked downtown and it was like people were out downtown, but no one was celebrating from either side. We just sat at the table and kind of looked at each other and we were just praying and hoping that demise is going to be all right. It was, like I said, fans from both teams, John, leaving the stadium silences knowing if he was alive or dead or in the hospital not doing well doing well, who knows? What was that feeling? What was that emotion like? And again, not just maybe with your daughter, but with everybody around you, I saw bills fans and Cincinnati fans at the hospital. They were doing prayer at the hospital. You see bills players going to the hospital. What was it like walking out of there? It was very kind of eerie and very quiet and usually when you're leaving a stadium, there's one team that's really celebrating. And with this game, there was nobody celebrating anything. Everybody's kind of heads were down and they were just walking out and it was very quiet, very, very eerie, almost. And then John, can you talk about just the passion and lava bills mafia? And Mike just mentioned he's right. There were bills fans, Bengals fans going to the hospital in Cincinnati. They had a candlelight vigil, prayer vigil. And now it's the chasing M's foundation from damar Hamlin, where he had a GoFundMe in his charity basically gives toys to impoverish kids at Christmas. And I think when the GoFundMe started, it was like literally 2500 bucks. Right. They had less in the GoFundMe before it started before the game. Right. And now it's in the millions of dollars. So John, you've been a super fan for so long. What are your thoughts about bill's mafia supporting this foundation, the chasing M's foundation like this? Yeah, it's very typical bills, mafia, it really is. I tell everybody, we're crazy. We love to have fun more than anybody. But we are the most genuine and generous fan base that there is. And it shows right there, but absolutely shows. It does make you proud to be from buffalo. That's for sure. Last question, John, you're obviously the bills Elvis. You've been bills Elvis for many years now. And sometimes you write things on your guitar, depending on the game. What's going on that guitar for this this week's home game against the Patriots. Yeah, I don't know, I'm going to have to I'm going to be leaving Cincinnati in a few minutes here and my daughter and I want to hatch it over on the right home. I've got a couple artists, Friends of mine, and maybe I'll hit them up to paint something nice on their forum or we'll have to definitely figure out something like that. But yeah, we'll be working on it on the right home. I'm sure. And then John, stuff on last question. This incident, this scare the fact that to this minute, we still do not know if demar Hamlin is going to survive. This is horrific horrific medical emergency. Does this not put things in perspective as a fan of saying, okay, we love our bills. We're passionate. But this is literally life and death. And this is what's important, focusing on him. Oh, definitely.

"We'll hear from coaches, the players, the referees, even about, okay, who made that call because I know Sean McDermott the Buffalo Bills head coach was in discussions with the officials and the coaches on the other side of the field that Cincinnati Bengals, and it appeared as though coach mcdermot said, no way, get off the field, we're not continuing this game. And the Bengals coach seem to do the same thing. It didn't seem like he was just following suit. It seemed like he was like, yeah, we're good here. We don't want to do this. Again, instead of on, you know, I coach in the local area. I've played football. I've been around football for 25 years. The last thing that you want to do. And I never saw anything like that. But if a guy gets injured, when I was in high school, a kid got not on our team on another team got taken away in an ambulance because he got a concussion. But that fear that immediately sits in. These guys are fearless, but then that happens, and they're not fearless anymore. They immediately mentally check out and just say to themselves, oh my God, that could have been me. But also to thank God for the circumstances that they're in an NFL stadium. Right. There are trained medical, professionals, physicians, EMTs, on both sides of the field. And at that exact moment where demar Hamlin went down, it was a blessing that you had so many caretakers, literally caretakers on the field tending to him immediately. And also, too, it also stresses the importance of whether you're playing in a little league game, a high school game, college game program, pro game that there's an ambulance. There's medical professionals who are there on the spot and guide forbid. If something like this happens to before then, a seemingly very healthy professional athlete. Yeah. Again, I go back to you just got to pray and hope the guy is okay after these next couple of days when he's in the hospital and you said it perfectly in the beginning. It puts it in perspective. Everybody in Buffalo and Cincinnati for the last week is like, oh my God, this is the greatest week 17 game you could ever have playoffs. Number one seed, Super Bowl favorite, all this stuff. And then in 8 minutes of a game, it's just immediately like, yeah, this isn't that important. A one seed is not that important right now. Yeah, I mean, it doesn't matter. Between the 9 minutes into the Bengals game and then moving forward about home field advantage. We're the bill is going to be ranked within the AFC. They're going to be behind the chiefs or anyway. Nothing else matters, except the health and safety of damar Hamlin. Everything else afterwards, when they're going to replay the Bengals game. How will the game go against the Patriots on Sunday? Play out in nothing matters. Except the safety and health and well-being of demar Hamlin. Yeah, I think we're going to go to the live line now, Stefan. That's right. John Lang, you've seen him. He is the bill's nominee for the fan of the year. He's very well known not just in Buffalo as Bill as Elvis, but all around the country. And I know John was there in Cincinnati for the game John.

"For 2023, anything politics really we were going to talk about today. Obviously for those from buffalo watching that football game last night, things changed, not only for buffalo, but also this podcast today, Stefan. Yeah, I think it puts things in perspective. Demar Hamlin of the Buffalo Bills collapsing, many people not even knowing if he's going to survive. Puts things in perspective on so many different levels, whether it's talking politics, talking the NFL, talking a game. I mean, leading up to the game against the Cincinnati Bengals, it's all everyone talks about was the importance of home field advantage and the bills being the top seed in the AFC. And then the good lord really puts things in perspective when it comes to the and it is a tragedy of damar Hamlin collapsing on the field and is literally on life support as we speak and as we record this podcast. I think it also a blessing to talk about the bills fans and their initial reaction of giving. When Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback bills mafia donated to his foundation as the chasing ems foundation, literally up to millions of dollars. Yeah, yeah, and it used to be kind of shocking, not that I didn't think buffalo is a great place. Of course it is. But you see these numbers roll in and you're like, holy moly. And it was like you said, first, it was the Cincinnati quarterback Andy Dalton's charity. Then they did one for two of this year, I think, when you got his concussions. And it's sad to say, that field in Cincinnati has seen two injuries this year. The concussion where he was completely out cold in the field was in that very stadium, 8 weeks ago. And now here we are again. And I know there's some controversy about the NFL about whether or not they were going to continue with the game because the commentators had said, players are going to have a 5 minute warmup and they'll continue the game. You saw Joe burrow, you know, throwing the football around. And my initial reaction was, my God, you have to cancel this football game. You know, especially seeing the reactions of the Buffalo Bills,

"Think there's two parts of this. I don't think the disqualification adds anything to what's going on with the 18 of Kyle Busch. But getting outrun by Danny Hamlin may or may not. He didn't win that race with one of the better cars. Ty Gibbs did run pretty well to your point, DJ. I checked in with ties management team. He didn't even get TRD simulator time. I think we talked about same time. It was iRacing. It was 40 laps on iRacing. Jeff, your son is learning this new car. You're around drivers all the time in this new car. How impressive is it that ty Gibbs, I don't even say talent because I don't think a question that it was his maturity that impressed me the most that he was willing to be held back and just go through the process of a Sunday in the Cup Series. So I think that's exactly right. I agree with you a 100%. He did a nice job of doing exactly what the goal was. The goal was to run some lats stay in the lead lap. Hopefully get something good happen. They did. They got to restart with the rec with Denny Hamlin or all Chastain. He was in the right line, picked up like 7 or 8 spots, but then never gave them back. Like that's what you expect from a rookie you expect, okay, we're going to give you a talented rookie. We're going to give you some track position and then find a way to keep it. He did all those things. So I agree with I agree with what you're saying. He needs to learn how to be a cup driver. He knows how to be an extended driver. He needs to learn how to be a cub driver and drive these cars. Yeah, I mean, he's impressed me from day one. The day that he went to went to Daytona on the road course and won that race, I'm like, that guy's for real. There's no getting around it. Yeah. So let's move the conversation forward a little bit when we look at Kyle Busch, right? So 60 wins, two time chain. I think everybody knows what you're losing behind the wheel if you can't re sign Kyle Busch. There's no doubt. No one up here is going to say man can't drive. The question is there's a little bit of fog around the business model M and M Mars is out. Can they sell him? Can they raise the capital to bring him back so the simple question is, DJ, if they can't get the business correct. Yep. Would you lose sleep over having to let college know? Knowing he's probably going to go win wherever he goes. But moving Thai gives into that seat. Yeah, okay, so let me say one thing first. And so this is going everybody saying Denny Hamlin cheated and got disqualified in Kyle Busch. New one knew anything about what was done there. They drove their race cars the way they were. And that's what you do as a driver. You don't know these things. So leave them out. If you're going to stay at the team, took this. I'm going to say, I'm going to disagree with a little bit of what you said there while I go, I think it's they're trying to sell sponsorship. When you're talking to companies that are willing to spend 15, $20 million to get on the side of a race car and your organization with Kyle Busch as the driver and your team gets disqualified from a race. I think that's a point that they're having a hard enough time before that happened to sell sponsorship there in today's world. I don't think that's a good thing. Couldn't have been could not have been worse timing. You know, this isn't something that we need to say. They go do all the time. Have they always pushed the envelope? Absolutely. Unfortunately, they got called at this time. So I hope that it doesn't do that. I would not, I know they are doing everything between Toyota Joe Gibbs Racing and all the marketing companies. They've even brought in other people trying to sell sponsorship to keep him. They do not want to race against Kyle Busch somewhere else because they know the talent that they have there. He's one of the top drivers to ever come through that the sport of NASCAR race and then in the Cup Series, future Hall of Famer. You don't want to let him go, but I think this could hurt. There's already friction in the relationship, if not the deal would be done. Because whether it's business or not, it's still friction, right? If you can't pay me, and I think you should, or whatever's going on, that's still friction, even if we get along. And then you add this. Then you add this, and I can not get out of my head, helmet, New Hampshire, saying on the radio, hey, make note with the slowest Gibbs car here. And then you get beat by a teammate, and then you get d-q'd. There is already tension and this does nothing to help it. So absolutely nothing. So that's fascinating, though, because so right, so the crew chief in me, right? I was never been a team owner, had never been the rep out there trying to sell myself. I see the DQ is just one more penalty. But if I'm hearing you correctly, I want to go back to this because this is fascinating to me. Your point is that it's not points and penalty whatever. The image, the perhaps tarnished image, does a company in today's world won't align with someone who has been disqualified. Forget penalties, forget fines, disqualified. You think that term right there makes this penalty larger than points in money. I had 100% to me. I think that's why this is the biggest penalty that they could put down on someone who never you look at his teammate Denny Hamlin. He got the trophy and all of that taken away. And the wind. He was going to be the winningest driver ever at Pocono. But when you're trying to sell a company on the fact that, hey, we're a reputable business. We do things right. We do everything the right way. And then you have a dequeue beside your name at a race that you ran second in. I think they, in one sense, they appreciate the effort, but in companies they're probably trying to sell to. They're out here, these companies are ones that are dealing with the public and they can't take that chance.

But doctor Hamlin Emory does, he's sitting right here doing it right now. Doctor emery, welcome. Thank you, Eric. You operate on the left coast, you're rarely in New York. So I'm thrilled that you're in New York. I said, if you ever get to New York, I want to bring you on the program to talk about what it is that you do. But I was glad that just last night, Alvin and I were talking about this, you and Virginia were there to see some of what I do, which is Socrates in the city. Have you recovered from that? No, I endured it. It was extremely interesting. Inspirational. I know. And I wish the video were up. It takes time to get that edited and everything. But there were so many people I was saying from out of town. A number of people from California, Minnesota, so anyway, I was just thrilled that you were you were there. I want to talk about what you do. In the introduction a moment ago, I was trying to explain it to my audience. It says here, I can read the official description of who you are. "Say, we will get it up. Now, there's always after the Socrates event. We have a patrons dinner because a number of people have written checks to make it possible for us to do this because the $100 ticket or whatever we charge. It never covers it because we've got to film it. We've got to do all this. We've got staff. So at the patrons dinner, people get to ask him some questions. And a couple people said, when you were on the moon, did you, what was it like sleeping on the moon? And did you dream? And good question. He said, nope, I didn't dream. But he shared some crazy stuff. And then, but then he says, but you know what? I was on the island of Maui or something like a year or two before we went to the moon. Like I knew that I was going to be an Apollo 16. And he shared something. And I think he shocked all of us. There were 40 people at the patrons dinner, and he said, I had a dream that I was on the moon in the lunar rover, which is the car that they drove up to this dune buggy. And he goes, I was with my partner young, whatever who was driving this thing. And he says, we came upon a set of tracks, this is a dream that he had like a year or two before going to the moon and actually doing this, right? He says, we came upon a set of tracks, and we contacted Houston, and we said, we found some tracks here. And we filed the tracks, and we found a lunar vehicle just like ours with two people in it. And we walked over to it, and we looked in, and he says, and it was me dead. Oh, gosh. That's wild. Now, when he shared this, I thought, this is a Twilight Zone. Twilight Zone. Yep. That's what it sounds like. This is a dream that he had over a year before he went to the moon. So it was totally vivid. And he said, so when he shared it the whole table, we were a God listening to this. Because I thought, to me, it seems like kind of a demonic thing, right? You have a dream like that. You think, well, I'm not going to the moon. I'm going to die up there. But he shared some stuff like that. Anyway, look, when we come back, we've got our friend doctor Hamlin, emery. And by the way, you get $50 because you said a gog. A God. It's one of those words. We have doctor Hamlin, Emory, who was there last night, and I'm excited to talk to him. But we will get the Socrates in the city stuff up ASAP folks. It was really next level. It was astonishing. So.

"We're about to play america's favorite games too right now. Green flag black-flag redesign statement. And if you agree with the statement our panel will give it a green flag. And you'll hear this now. This agree give it a black flag and you get this. All right can start with hermes sadler since he drove so far. All right all right at least to pass. Champions will be eliminated in round one. A green flag have to elaborate is just because his that kind a year. It's just been crazy. And what you see and i just got this feeling that this year is gonna be different and strange and upside down and Surprise after surprise a green flag me. Right alexis ericsson. Yeah i'm gonna go black flag actually Certainly could happen. But i don't see it happening especially at around one now round two. Perhaps that could definitely happen. But there's just some other guys Down at the bottom of round one that are that are not past champions. I think are gonna go up. I all right. What do you think doug rice. I'm going to agree with her. Sadler and say green flag. I could easily see a couple of past champions stumbling over the next couple of races. Kabua's all but said he's given up on his team so he could be one of them and who else could suffer that same kind of fate. So i agree to to one so far. Brad gilly what do you think. I think the gentleman to my left and my right are crazy. One pass. that's true. Look i think kyle busch goes out You go back and look at his history and he has melted down in the first race of several playoffs before and that literally just set the tone for him not even be able to compete for a title. So i would say one but not to all right. Alliance is having my back here you go. You're you're up next on this. When alexis darlington will not be the last attrition race in the round of sixteen. Oh gosh yeah green flag. I mean we're going to richmond and we're going to bristol in those are racetrack. Second call is high. High attrition High tempers high everything. So yes i say green flag. I do not think darlington. We'll be the only one that will see multiple multiple playoff drivers suffering. Ill fates. I'm gonna bet doug agrees with you. Do i do agree wholeheartedly. Green flag. I thank the folks up to bristol need to order a couple of extra records and maybe a backup role black. Because there's gonna be some torn up sheet metal there brad geli oh green flag all the way we look. We have nine hundred laps of racing still left in this round. I don't know that it's necessarily gonna be richmond but stranger things can happen to doug point. I think speedway children's charities is going to have a lot of sheet metal auctioned off after bristol. all right. how about her me. Sadler black flag. Whoa oh woo. You know the reason. I say that number one i want to disagree with everybody else because it makes a good radio and television and all that but number two these teams and drivers that have dubbed themselves. This whole at darlington. They can't race aggressively as much as they. Maybe would like to so. I think we're going to see not trying to not sale tickets for these tracks. But i think you're going to see drivers that are trying to come back or dig back out of that hole to be a little bit more conservative at richmond and bristol. Maybe so then If they could just take the reins off or they might have to be desperate at bristol. Good point but that's not part of my narrative bristol baby all right dirt left meredith. Love that all right. Let's go to doug rice. I on this one. After not winning a race in the regular season denny. Hamlin will go back to back with a victory in richmond this weekend. Good that happen. I wanna say green flag. Why not yeah. Let let the guy go ahead and that takes away another race from somebody else that needs one guaranteed to advance. I like i like that to use hermes word narrative. How about a brad guilty. I will say black flag not just disagree with doug but i don't think he goes back to back. I think there are people right now. Who are way better on short tracks denny hamlin even though this is his home track and i know he's won a lot of raises here. I'll say black flags can be someone else saturday even her me. What are you saying Black flag. I said earlier matt narrative earlier in the show was dinnie. Is he's good richmond to stats. Say that they don't need me to say but he's really really good at darlington how he can take a fifth eighth place. Car may be win with in richmond. Not as much. I think he. He's always hit great cars. They are anchor drive them. But i think I think somebody just goes to victory lane this weekend alexis. What's your narrative mind is. I've got dogs back. I think.

Choice, you became a recording artist and gotten your musical chops going later in life. Yeah. And there was so much more in your life before all that happened. Yeah, so we go in the way back machine and where'd Where did this all happen? How did Laura Hamlin? Become Laura, Hamlin. Well, my mom's got video of me when I was to singing Twinkle. Twinkle Little Star song, my little pigtails and really my whole life. All I ever wanted to be was a singer and I knew it from a very young age but I wasn't really around musical people. So, for them, for example, the only live music I ever saw really is a child was like country music dinner theater, right? Okay. And and then, every once awhile at a family cookout wage, You know, somebody would bring a guitar and they would sing some old country songs, but I was always, you know, sitting there cross-legged and starry-eyed every time that that happened, but it wasn't very often. So, I did take piano lessons in junior high. I didn't really like it. It didn't stick, I was in chorus and stuff, but I don't know. Just I didn't, I didn't really have anybody to follow behind or a buddy who was encouraging me that much. And so at age, twenty-nine, I still hadn't, you know, taken up an instrument for reals. I hadn't really done any actual singing karaoke terrifying. Wow. Yeah. Well I'm going to take you karaoke singing Because That'll be amazing with like it's pretty now. I love it but you know it's funny cuz karaoke was so terrifying to me when it was the first thing I had ever done a it's still mentally. Like I get more nervous singing karaoke than singing in front of like a thousand people. I bet you blow some people away doing karaoke. It's pretty fun. In fact, I remember the first time I went to the legion up in Heber Arizona, a little Country Town up north. I didn't know anybody and I walked in on a Friday night by myself. And before I knew it, the keg G host were like choosing songs for me and like, kept giving him. I went back. Yeah, it was super cool, but anyhow. So, yeah, at age, twenty-nine, I decided I'm going to take guitar lessons and it just started up there and I felt really silly. I felt silly. I was, you know, I'm like to my teacher and my the oldest student that you have is this ridiculous. I was practicing all my little Mary, had a little lamb stuff and I, you know, I felt really silly but I just had to do it and I'm so happy that I did. Yeah. I'm so glad you did too. You really like when I first met lower I'm like, why aren't you like really famous? And the fact is people just don't know how great she is so the right person hasn't discovered her yet, but I'm going to do everything within my power, to let the right people meet her because her music is so incredible. You don't want, you just play just a little snippet of something. I want people to just get your Vibe and just how amazing you really are. Sure. This is a, you know, in honor of transformational radio, I love it. This is the song. Can you hear that? I can hear it, man. Sounds good. That I wrote called.
