Final Lap Weekly Fantasy Update

"Rowdy dragging here back again with this week's final weekly fantasy update the daytona road course. What an awesome race. The finish really mixed things up. I think these road courses are really gonna flip the fantasy upside down this year. So let's move onto the stage winners. We have first and second stage sweep done by. Who's good job. loosen the win. Who's looks like he felt a little short term. Gators three took that with two hundred and forty two points. Now the final weekly had two hundred and seventy two players to start the season it bumped up to three hundred and forty three players so a whole bunch of people had joined us. But now we're back down to two hundred sixteen players so i'm thinking there was a consolidation period where nascar just dumped. Everyone who had goose eggs for the first brace the second race or both races and Either that or toby was pushing some buttons and deleted everybody in any event if you have played with us before all you have to log back in and make your picks in. You're good to go however you're going to have to join the league now. Okay so moving right along. Let's take a look at homestead miami speedway. I got three drivers free to take a look at starting with the number. Five kyle larson. It is time for him to show what he can do in the five car. He did not race year last year and two years ago he blew motor up here so it is important for him to shine in the five car this weekend in show what it is. He has for that hendra team and another guy to look at. Is the number eight tyler. Rettig he had a good first race here last year he got a fourth place finish and he scored a segment points in both segments. Were dirt track. Racers excel especially the rim writers. Tyler riddick and kyle larson both loved to ride the rim and the last guy will take a look at the number eleven car denny hamlin. He's superb at this track. He's got three wins here. Last year. he racked up stage points in both segments as well some looking for denny to have a good day on

I would say that this was equal to a you know my my first goal winter ride the i've been in opposition so many times and i was nervous and just focusing on march so that it was it was definitely there but i was thankful that i was able to go up not make mistakes

"hamlin" Discussed on NASCAR Live

"This is nascar now. Back to mike. Bagley welcome back to nascar live with all this chat about denny hamlin winning the daytona five hundred. Let's catch up with the man himself and our cone. You are exploring team ownership for the first time in the cup. Series has been more or less stressful so far than you imagined. depends on the day Have good days. And i have stressful days. has been hard to come by for me. It's just hard to turn my brain off. It's it's setting a time where i'm like okay. I'm done working today. Done with emails done calling. I don't know when that time is because it's at all hours of the night But we're doing a really good job in the team's doing a great job of getting prepared for me. It's just more paranoia. Like what have we forgotten like you. Just don't show up to the racetrack. Adler not have a car cover if it rains like it's like what have we forgotten because you truly. This is a new team. That's getting built on the ground. You can definitely see and hear the excitement when you talk about. It and great opportunities are hard to come by hard to earn. A sport in a new team is a great opportunity. So what was it like for you to be able to bring bubba into the fold intel. Hand that he gets shot with not well it was. It was a great opportunity for him in to me. This is the best opportunity he's ever had in in the cup series or in racing in. general You know he's gonna be with a gene's got a great affiliation. Joe gibbs racing great opportunity with the the ownership with michael. We got some great partners that are gonna be with us for this entire year. And you know all the pieces of the puzzle or there is just again. We're we're we're trying to build a castle and we're we're still building the foundation you know so it's it's gonna be a learning process. It's him integrating into the gr type of system that. I've always been accustomed to in teaching that to him The preparation in which. I go through the studying that i do you know. There's a lot of different things that i feel like. I can help him in his learning curve for learning the system that i want to implore on steam. Even now you're diving into team ownership. You aren't giving up driving just yet. So how do you think being an owner might help you become an even better driver and vice versa. Yeah i mean. There's a lot of things that i'm still learning. I mean as a driver. I continue to try to find any weaknesses. Statistically or any weaknesses. I feel like. I need to get better at certain tracks. I feel like i need to really work on to get better at And so i think you know. Twenty twenty was a unique year. That i felt like every brayshaw i went to. I got a great shot to win and most of the time contended for the win each and every week as road driver. I want to continue to get better. I d myself kind of a third to fifth place guy skill wise on the road courses. Start when i want to become the best. So i've really got to work on it and and figure out how i can be better so to me ultimately by success with the eleven carin. Jacobs racing is the best thing that my team could get me staying relevant stay. Winning is the best asset that that twenty three eleven team can have the great american race just a few weeks away. And you're looking for your fourth win overall third straight. How would a win this year for the third straight time. Be different than the others. While it's history for my standpoint. It's it's something that's never been done. I i always think you. I can't believe that. I've won three but also can't believe all the ones that have let slip away in the last eight years many times where control that final restart in and not one. It's just been it's been amazing that the run really in the last probably seven eight years that we've had at the daytona five hundred so this one obviously would be special if i could win for many reasons but mostly the history part of it knowing that no one else has done all diving. Chandler recently turned aids looking back to when she was first born. How have you changed as a dad or even as a person over the last eight years whilst the patients that you gotta learn. The patience is the biggest thing that i can say. I've i've gotten better at As a dad. I don't know if it's gotten better professionally. But i believe as data just understand you know what i deem not necessarily important Because it's you know. Hey i really want this really want that like. It's important to them in their life at this time. So it's understanding from their perspective You know as a dad is being patient with them and china. Mold them into the person that you want them to be in the long run. We're talking about team on ship. You mentioned being able to impart wisdom on baba and teach him things being a father do think that inevitably has helped. You have the maturity to be a team owner. Yeah i mean. I've spent sixteen seventeen years in the sport I feel like. I know a lot on the competition side. I'm still learning all the other aspects. I mean i've gotten crash courses on marketing licensing all the other little things that involve team ownership here in the last four or five months. But you know. I'm learning as i go Not claiming to denote all right now. But it's it's something that i have a passion for to to really Be heavily involved in this team day today. And again i like. I like the direction that we're going I hopefully can build this into a tier one team over time and It's it's just going to scott you have to be open to new ideas and so Being able to mentor. Bubbas that one of the things that i think i'm gonna joy is that you know i see his raw talent. I know he has the raw talent. But it's refining that talent and getting the best out of your day. That i feel like i can help you have a national endorsement deal with dominos and i think at this point everyone has seen the commercial saw not gonna ask about. Pj's i'm gonna ask. What are you order on your pizza when you put an order in for pizza. What's on top. I'm playing. I i like it. I like to pepperoni urges cheese pepperoni for me. I don't get too fancy with the pizza even though everyone tells. I got venture outside the box. I know what i like and finally how do you do all your driver now. You're team owner. You're a data two girls. You have a golf league basketball league. Where do you find time. I don't have. I don't have any more like i. M trying to think of the other day. I was like i can't remember the last time i sat down on my couch in the afternoon. Like i just. I don't have much time. But i also enjoy staying busy. I like you know schedule alike. getting stuff done. I'm good at being able to adjust and shift my focus as needed to things that need need attention that i simply are see on something in iowa. Go to work on and and enjoy putting the work and seeing the results from it so for me a goal. This offseason was to work really really.

Kansas Speedway Starting Lineup: October 2020 (NASCAR Cup Series)

"Series rat of eight kicks off this weekend at Kansas despite other media members thinking it's more and other weird stuff. These are the drivers that are going to battle it out for four spots over the next three races Kurt Busch Alex, Bowman Martin tricks junior joey logano chase Elliott Brad Keselowski Denny Hamlin, and Kevin Harvick bloom that is a star studded pack of drivers there for sure. So eight races will be pared down to four for Phoenix. which is going to be the round of four, which is only one race I guess but I mean look at look at that lineup, you've got one, two, three, four, five champions. You've got the guy who's the perennial second place Cinderella story that never gets it done at any Hamlin the most popular driver and Chase Elliott, and then Alex Bowman as well. The future forty-eight drivers. That's pretty cool and we've got a great mix of manufacturers. Yeah. Yeah. No joke I mean we've got a pretty good representation of everything here. We got to Chevy's two toyotas. Fords right that were at. I see in three three chevys. Sorry. Three Chevy Chevy three forwards and two Toyotas. That's pretty good. especially when you consider how few Toyotas are in the field. That's that's par for the course you're only gonNA get two of them in there but that's that's a pretty impressive field of drivers for this. Finally, all right Kansas speedway opened in two thousand and one it's bad fast on the list of top ten fastest tracks, which is a weird list. Drivers, of course, have to dodge rows and rows of corn and wheat growing right there on the racetrack in between the workers and the cracks. would. That might not be true.

So really good example of this is Hurricane Irma which was in two thousand seventeen had twenty five foot waves heating the Florida race track down in Lewke where I am and we had a storm surge at building, which is in Summerlin K. of only five foot. So we didn't have a rift system they're healthy ray system there you can imagine that that storm surge those waves would really decimate the land. So I I can hear your Australian accent Australia of course, famous for the Great Barrier Reef what's going on with climate change and coral reefs around the world? Well, wide was seeing a great reduction in live Carl Kaba So this is across the well whether it be Australia United States or any Pacific Ocean island nations. You might have heard of coral reefs as the rainforest say and that that's saying is because even the car reefs tyke out less than one percent of the seafloor. twenty-five percent of nine marine species actually rely on car roofs. At some stage of their life we're seeing Wolmar, she anik temperatures. We're seeing a lot more pollution going into the oceans, and this is resulting in las of live Carl tissue almost as much. If any consequences of climate change, I can think of the people who are really in contact with this are shocked and appalled and upset at a level that those of us who don't come into coral on a into contact with Karl on a daily basis. I don't really get I mean I have your you're in the Florida keys I have a nephew who's into a skin diving and spearfishing in Miami and he's a young guy, and just in the years he's been doing this the coral around Miami I mean he's like shocked and upset when he sees it and says, he can't really fish anymore just because of the change in the last decade, we have lost around ninety percent of that Caro cover in the last forty or fifty years and some of the race in the. Case now or the Florida Reef tractor as low as between four and six percent starting Caro cover, which is quite loy. So we're talking on zoom you have a fantastic backdrop of coral and I don't know enough to know what kind it is but we hear these terms like staghorn coral and I heard of Elk Horn coral what are the main forms of coral that you're working with and what do they look like? We have branching corals and we have massive Carl's so branching Caro's the Stag owns the call and you. Can picture what the antlers of a staghorn or alcorn look like they look exactly like that. So skinny branch is really perfect three dimensional habitat for fish and shrimp and all the Little Rafe critters out there, and then we've got a massive Carl's and these might be brain corals essentially look like the folds and grooves of a brain stock Carl's have They polyps alike little cop. So little stars and their every feeling Carl's they the Carl's that are creating the race and really growing that lodge Rafe structure that remained stable off the storms

"Nation it is w here a little preamble before this week's episode with Jack Hamlin of energy strong. There are some air quality hearings coming up September seventeenth eighteenth, which you can sign up for online, and it's extremely important that our voice gets heard and Jack talks a lot about this on the episode and really the purpose of energy strong is a grassroots advocacy of educating the public about the benefits and the safety of oil and gas. Development sixty, five, thousand members, strong. They're they have great mission and the purpose is just to get our industry and our employees and our people involved because it's not enough to sit on the sidelines. We've sat on the sidelines for too long, and as a result, we've seen regulation after regulation proposition after proposition, and even when a proposition lake proposition one, twelve shutdown in Colorado it was immediately replaced in in a snowstorm in past sp one eighty-one, which changed the mandate of the. Changed rulemaking and has gone through that process. They're now discussing the exact same setbacks voters voted down and so there's lots of ways to get involved. But right now energy strong and heartache of the day or asking you if you're a Colorado resident, please please please sign up for the September seventeenth and September Eighteenth Air quality hearings and let your voice be heard about how important this industry is to Colorado to the tax base to schools into providing clean affordable energy to heat our homes to drive our cars and. To encourage investment in this state rather than have that investment leave it's critical critical issue and Jack knifed talk about it a lot on this issue on this episode I. Hope You enjoy it as always. You can reach out to me with your thoughts, comments, concerns, and just chat your mind so that you can get prepared for this air quality hearing on September seventeenth and eighteenth I appreciate you. If you like what we're doing subscribe until next time be safe. Be Good. Have a great day and by for now. What is going on hot take nation? It is the w here for another episode of the hot take today podcast. I am joined today by Jack Hamlin who has A lot to cover we got energy strong got mergers of your former engineering firm that you're the president of summit engineering First of all, how are you doing how you survive in Kobe things go on. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. All Things considered frustrated like most people Lot of a lot of things don't make sense in terms of mandates and policy but Kind of dance between the raindrops and get through a best weekend. A motorcycle boat those have been kind of my salvation this year. There you go. I've been hitting the golf course a lot as. I mean if you think about golf the resurgence like the eighties when they were doing nothing but building golf courses and communities, I mean every T- sheet golf has experienced unbelievable resurgence of people picking it up for. Finding it 'cause it's a great social distancing. I'm sure motorcycling boating is the same how packed or the roads of motorcycles and the lakes of boats these days. Pretty pretty busy a lot busier than they used to be. We used to leave for like an overnight trip to aspen her or a veil or something on. Thursday afternoon to be trapped. Just get on with work at about noon and get out of here and we do that now and it's like you know we can traffic starting on Wednesday. The boats by Chatfield were my votes atn it's. They, they reach capacity by like nine in the morning on the weekends. So if you're not on the water by nine, you're waiting kind of a one on one off. The and but people are tied up in the League zones having fun and just trying to Trying to have some sort of like semblance of normal life. It is crazy salutes. I don't know where to start if we WANNA start with energy strong or we're going to start with. The merger that you did seven engineering. Why don't you you? You take the mic and you you start where you WanNa Start Lord have mercy okay. All Star with the energy strong thing that's Kinda. We'll go chronologically here. Energy strong with was Kinda founded out of A lack in the market that we saw oil and gas has always been pretty historically terrible about marketing itself and Really. Engaging with people that aren't involved in oil and gas to help them understand our industry and the products and services that provides so Kind of spawned out of Senate Bill One or prop one twelve, the the setback measure. That's where it spawned out of a Dustin case was was the founder of energy strong and recognize the. Hey. Like. We're losing this this fight. And it's not a lobbying fight. It's not the traditional political fighting. It's an online social media battle that oil and gas industry had no idea they were. They were running commercials on TV. Yeah. The typical mechanisms to try and get message out you know someone running along the creek senior love Colorado in why gas was great but it really didn't. Put any sort of semblance to what what oil and gas did for the? Everyday. person. So you know being on social media, I was on facebook I'm not anymore just couldn't handle it anymore but yeah. Let's say we'll talk about that after this. I mean everybody knows I mean all the sudden everybody. He became an expert on setbacks fracking and Blah. Blah. So. We were there to like there was no place with oil industry got together. It's very tribal. You have your upstream midstream downstream field engineering, everybody's kind of segmented and you've got these groups like GPA, pipe liners and. COGAN API and all that but nobody really orchestrates communicates across the industry wavelengths to to have a unified message a but our opposition does and they primarily did that through social media they said this is. Concerned. Parents. On the other side. So people that didn't understand oil and gas. Concerned they don't understand the facilities. They don't understand how safe pipeline has XETRA. They hear the talking points that you know oil and gas. Polluting going to ruin climate and and so forth. So. Put together energy stronger than we got together and formulated a loose business plan on like, Hey, we've got to get to other states in Colorado in the middle of its let's focus here first and then everybody assumes places like Texas and Wyoming Safe. But they're not as we've seen some recent A. Kinda of town hall meetings they're saying same story is here but yeah, I grew up in Colorado I've watched it be really safe oil and gas to now kinda looking over your shoulder when you talk about it so. We got this online group on facebook primarily going reach forty thousand members there were able to to really. Get people out. To. Town this another didn't. Twelve that that all went through right? As we kind of accumulated people. Then Senate bill one, any one came right on the heels of that, and that's when it was Realize like, Hey, we need to get down to the state capital. We need to go to these town hall meetings when he saw the at the go go OCC. And that was kind of were energy strong spawned and we've got it's totally grass roots to combat a grassroots effort against us. And we're just trying to educate advocate for the industry using you know kind of what you're doing and what Alex Epstein is doing is trying to use. A lot better you know. Really. Eloquent speakers but. Trying to just get as much data out there we can whether that's through publishing a newspaper article or getting on facebook and posting articles, get people aware and understanding what's going on. With me so tell me about the learnings that had because the key phrase that I heard that you said was grassroots and you know I mean obviously the end of the energy industry in Colorado put as I understand it between twenty five and thirty million dollars into fighting prop one, twelve and prop one twelve comes to an end, which was a significant capital expenditure lots of energy investment was. Put into that and immediately on the back that was one eighty one, and we'll talk about these grassroots efforts but but in your experience, are you finding that these that the the opposition oil and gas does that feel grassroots to you? Does it feel like it's just concerned citizens who are building a book and and building out talking points or what was that experience been like? Yeah, that's been. Great Question. So it's been. Really really frustrating. So there is a component of of concern people and I'm not going to try to diminish that I've engaged people that are opposed to oil and gas industry at various town hall events and at the state capital to try to understand with what's their purview wire they really they drove the state capitol after all, it's heated with natural gas to keep us warm from this the storm outside in February how could they be against something? Soaps so great. Deal is you know it's in our backyard we see pipes and pumps and process equipment flares, and we don't understand it and it should be here. So they are concerned and they're concerned about the kind of gas lighting that goes on around Elevated. Emissions or whatever. But then yeah, there's a very being where I really realized that it was beyond grassroots and really started to get orchestrated was the Irie townhall meeting I worked a full day.

"Doug Gottlieb in for Dan and the Danettes today we got Denny Hamlin coming up in a few minutes with us, so keep right here at Fox sports radio. As NASCAR. The National Football League Major League Baseball now trying to figure out how to deal with the latest tweets from President. Donald trump was a day ago. that he questioned the validity. Validity of the bubble Wallace story, and wanted a Bubba Wallace to apologize for the NASCAR hoax of the noose in his garage, saying that that in the flag situation benning the confederate flag resulted in low ratings for NASCAR. He went on to talk about how the Indians and redskins nicknames, which were initially made to show strength should stay nicknames. He went onto reference. Elizabeth Warren and you know and we're off to the races. Doug with this last these tweets, the last twenty four hours, or so when you and I talked about this yesterday, we said listen, the best thing to do is to ignore this and just move on because the NFL if they could do it over again from two thousand seventeen. They certainly would say you know what we're not going to just start. Start getting scattered because president trump is tweeting about kneeling football players and Colin Kaepernick. The best thing to do would be to ignore it, because as we said look, there's political stuff, and this is something that you can't win and notice that the difference in the responses so far. Is that when this happened? Redskins, the NFL really no one really said think. We've done this before. We've been through this Roger. Goodell put the moment of unity out there saying we blew it last time. Let's go forward together and NASCAR had a bunch of drivers who responded to this because this is something brand new for them. And? We talked about saying hey, be ahead of things and just move on, because you can't win this battle that that's going to go on. If you continue to engage this. Yeah, I look I. Don't think you have to go four on frontal assault I would guess at the NFL stance changed. One. They didn't WanNA. Go against their players and to My guess is that they feel like trump's done November anyway, and you WanNa be on the right side of this thing right like. "Here tonight. Then have final time down the back straightaway. The point Yoda into the banking three or four headed for the checkered flag in the southern five hundred eight. Hamlin complaints the Darlington sweetness again. Winning last night of the nation live race tonight winning with co time southern five hundred for the first time in his career now back to Mike Bagley. That's how it sounded on May Eighth. Two thousand ten some ten years ago. Denny. Hamlin winning at Darlington raceway. We welcome you back to NASCAR live. And we continue our conversation with the driver of the Fedex Toyota Denny Hamlin Denny. Let's get into the nuts and bolts Darlington this weekend. It's going to be a little different this time through. It's not going to be five hundred miles. Going four hundred miles on Sunday stage breaks or different. It's going to be a go in raising. Come back out on the same day. What are your. What are your thoughts about Nascar coming back to racing at Darlington this weekend? Yeah I mean one thing I can tell you you know. The southern five hundred by the hours is probably one of the longest races that we have It might be the longest even over the COQ. Six hundred if I'm not mistaken simply because of the miles per hour that we run versus the actual miles so four hundred is nothing to another week at. It's GonNa be a tough race. Especially during the day. I remember racing Southern five hundred During the day early my career and it was a very very tough race and so A day race in South Carolina. It looks like the weather's GonNa be pretty warm It's GonNa be a tough physical task for us to just fire off and go so You know there's going to be a lot of challenges. I think that you know me. Having some have the old guy knowledge of knowing where to track changes from dates tonight I'll be able to give my crew chief and good information about the what we need to work on and You know hopefully it all turns out. Well it's definitely been one of my best racetracks throughout my career. It has. You've got seven wins. They're five in the xfinity series two in the Cup series. Why is it one of your best tracks I don't know it's just one of those tracks that really fit my style of the easy corner. Injury hard on corner access It's just one of those tracks that really does reward that so Not sure exactly what it all is. That I feel like I definitely have a good knack for it and it just seems to work. Is it consistent? I know the tracks been paid. It took a while while not that long but it took a while to get to get worn back out again. It's back in that in that worn out. State is Darlington the same every time you go about the expectation of tire fall off and the track changing all that or are there new things that are different about it? Every time you go back a little bit I feel like it. Changes like eight man probably five percent. Every time we go there What for whatever. Reason that the pavement Whatever they use their It gets washed pretty quickly. The Sun down there it gets a lot of Sun And so there's just attractive very very difficult to predict you know. I don't think you can just go back with what you had last year and you just are going to be good. I don't think that that's the case I think he'd got Daf and Like I said I. That's that's why I like going to new places I feel like I can adapt quicker than others and You know I enjoy the challenge of firing off. No practice qualifying. You'RE GONNA have to really trust your instincts on this woman and hopefully you think right. You Trust instincts hauling off into turn one at Darlington Wide Open. No practice no qualifying. That's going to be the old tiptoe through the tulips her right there. I imagine for the first couple laps. Yeah you know. I think that there's GonNa be a handful that are going to be very aggressive at the beginning and I think there's others that are going to be kind feeling things out and seeing how will play out I think to the races long enough to where You know you can take it easy to understand your race card. Give for mission to that. I fit stuff for even second to adjust your car and get it where it needs to be and listen. No one's going to get someone is GonNa unload closer than the other and that car. If he's up towards the front it could be ugly early but certainly these guys starts to figure things out as racist. Go on and you're probably going to see a pretty competitive race in couple of things here before we let you go. You get done Sunday at Darlington. The experiment series will race there on Tuesday. You'll be back on Wednesday. We've had a couple of Primetime Cup races before. Like five hundred have gotten rain down and carry it over but this is our first foray into a full cup race under the lights mid week. What are your thoughts on midweek racing? Yeah I love it. I've been pushing for a very long time and I know that there's I talked about red tape. There's plenty of red tape that keeps midweek races from happening and a lot of that surrounds racetracks and the camping that they have The audience that the people in the crowd since we don't have that that makes perfect opportunity for us to run midweek races People don't have to travel and they have you know jobs working in the week. They have you know. Most of the people travel Outside of a hundred miles or whatnot. So this allows us to to experiment with that and see how the ratings go and How many people were tuning in to watch it and certainly think that this is an opportunity for us to to you know have a lot of it is on us and and people are going to be watching to see how it all turns out and one more thing when you do go back on the Racetrack? Sunday and Wednesday than the following week at Charlotte. You'll be racing against Ryan. Newman and Matt Kenseth is coming back. What are your thoughts on those to be being on the track when you guys take green on Sunday? Yeah we turn back the clock though fifteen years. It's I mean me and mad had some funny dialogue going on yesterday and You know Kinda looking about what we were talking about. But you know he's like hey you know. Let Me Know GonNa foreigners I'm telling them to pound sand you know 'cause not like I want to help him by the way so he he's just been a great friend that we communicated You know we started talking about a year before. He became teammates with a A jerky racing and then even when he When he left We talk a lot and I went over his house quite a bit and federal kids. Hang out together so got a great relationship with Matt and Yeah I don't ask me in an interview a few days ago. What do you think about? You know you happy. See Matt Basketball Track. I'm like no like you can still get it done. I don't want another congested out there that can potentially beat me. So I know that he's every organization he's been in he's elevated it and I would expect the same thing with shipping. Asti with him so But I do look forward to to raise for Buddy for sure. Well we appreciate your time. Thank you for the entertainment over the last seven weeks..

"And you won't stink now back to Mike Bagley. We're back on NASCAR. Live if you've been with us over the last seven weeks or so you know that. A lot of the NASCAR drivers have been participating in the NASCAR. I racing pro invitational series and it ended just as it began then he on one the first one at homestead speedway and he won this past weekend at virtual North Wilkes Boroughs speedway. And he's on NASCAR. Talk about Danny. Welcome back to the show how we doing. So you're a winner at North Wilkes borough. I would say that's gotta mean something. You look great on Sunday man. That was awesome. Yeah we were fast. You know something about that racetrack. And that's just Kinda fit my style and I love the short-track Anyway. Everyone knows that But you know going to. I really enjoy going to somewhere new. I feel like I can adapt to track. You know quicker than than normal And especially being a short-track it just kinda fit. You know my style and the way that I drive and Yeah we're we're fast from the get-go how did you? How are you able to do that? You always say that when you go to places you take to it pretty quick. What about your driving skill set allows that to happen? You know I on on the short tracks especially I think. It's using the gas in the break. I think you know. Sometimes you know together Just foot work I think is what makes it You know better for me. And my style particular That's the only thing I can really attest to it. I mean other than just instincts right. So it's a shame. I never got the race that Trask In real life I think I was about seven years. Too late for that but I remember seeing all races back there back in the day and I remember was fun racetrack to watch on TV So when I ran my first you last year of I cannot believe the elevation change. That frustrates has like. This is a never didn't you don't appreciate it on. Tv as much so Certainly with the blast drive. I thought it was one of the best racers that we've had off season. Well you talk about Sunday North Wilkes borough. We've been doing this for seven weeks. Obviously race fans chomping at the bit. As are you me and everybody else in the sport to get back to real racing which will do and we'll talk about it in a moment at Darlington but what role. In your opinion you've been one of the participants. What role has the NASCAR RACING? Pro Invitational Series played. How's that helped? A lot of people get through pretty dark time in pretty uncertain time. We've got right now in the sport. Well I think it certainly helped with fosters. That are you know. We're counting being on on on your weekend week out Because they're sponsoring the real car. Got Them an opportunity to still be on. Tv and still have the opportunity to showcase their brand Advertised that was a huge help for the race teams to kind of give them You know that kind of pro Bono and not and not really charging anyone for anything and it was really good collective Effort from everyone involved between NASCAR and the drivers of the race teams and the sponsors so it all came together. You know typically something that is that day with that big of an audience. There's a lot of lawyers talk and and wording that that people gotta find off on but everyone just knew that listen. We're in a difficult situation right now. Let's just get past the red tape and get this done and we were able to do it. Pretty quickly Through your head racing right from the get go and You know it was great racing and hopefully kept people entertained from what we're hearing what we're seeing on social media and folks reaching out to us. People have been entertained and the very appreciative of it. Before we get into this weekend's logistics and all that how things been like in the in the Hamlin House I know that at times you've had to corral remote controls and everything seems like that you're doing good seems like the families looking good. How is this past seven weeks or so been treating the hamlet house? It's been good. I mean I personally have just been didn't projects done of of Definitely in the best physical shape I've ever been in. There's nothing to do but to to work out at least twice a day and just for me. I am in great physical shape. I feel like You know it's been a very big learning experience being a A bad teacher. I have a new appreciation for all the teachers out there. That are teaching these kids and You know we got about one more week of that. Thank goodness And then on top of that just I mean I. I tried to get myself off. You know not a small and not a major but just a a very decent sized project wants a day get done. There's something let's let's get this done. I've been putting it off for this amount of time. Let's just get it done. Ray felt and trying to put that on the calendar and I feel like I'm I'm pretty much ready. I'm all caught up here. There's not much else to do other than things. I'm trying to create do and I'm ready to go back to work. You talk about staying in physical shape and and you are in good physical shape for for those folks out there. That are curious. What do you do to maintain good physical fitness normally? And what have you had to do in this downtime to maintain that to make sure that you're in good physical condition? Well fortunately for me and I mean very fortunate that I have you know home that I can work out in There's a basketball court downstairs that I can run up and down Doing suicides and things like baths which is Kinda. You know for the first time doing a lot of online You know training sessions and so I it really holds you accountable when you see other people working out. And you don't WanNa be the one that sits there and is got his hands on his hips and stuff and they're like okay ten more seconds than you see everyone else working out. So it's been it's been a different transition but I really been buckled down on my eating. Been tremendously better. over this time so it can be opposite of what you think would be right. Everyone's kind of at home and and it's really easy to Kinda just lay around and not get stuff done but I really been disciplined on. You know the physical side of things and making sure that I'm in good shape when we're ready to go because there's just not going to be much time We used to have a week to to recover between races. And we're just not going to have that time now. What is set? Good physical fitness gave you inside of the race car. Some folks may say well look at him. He's just sitting there. He's driving five hundred miles. It gets out and then goes home but there is. There are dividends that are paid for the physical fitness and the physical health. That you're in. What is that so folks can understand how that benefits you well? A lot of it has to do with the G. Forces and Darlington's one of the toughest racetrack that we have as far as physical fitness concern Because you know there are a lot of Jesus especially in terms one and two so it really honestly for me about you know it used to take me four or five days when I was not in very good shape to recover from races on Sunday. I've spent most of the time. Tuesday's just kind of laying around trying to recover and get myself back going again and then certain Wednesday. Thursday are getting a little more active. But we don't have that time now so I think what this does is creates a shorter recovery time There's a lot of you know neck muscles back muscles that really get strained. Does you're trying to hold yourself up in the seat In in the stronger you are physically in those areas that the less you know the less impact that that is going to have on. You've therefore you won't need to recover quite as much because you're not fatigued as much so doing that. And I think you're staying hydrated is going to be a big big factor With these short layoff in between you know the the Wednesday Sunday races So I'm GonNa try to stay on top of that and Seattle plays out. We've got more coming up with Denny Hamlin as we continue on NASCAR live in.

"Live now back to what he came Baker. Hang out with us this week on Nascar live over the weekend. Alex Hayden sat down with Brendan Gone to talk about his town of Las Vegas and its ties to Nascar as Las Vegas resident and businessman more importantly in the city of Las Vegas. What does it mean to to you as a businessman and a resident to see what NASCAR's become in the city of Las Vegas? The look when when Ralph Ingalls Stat the late roughing Staten Richie Klein when they talked. My Dad was there early on when they were talking about it and and they talked about taking this piece of dirt where we raced off road cars. And they're going to build this big thing and we're talking ninety five ninety six these meetings going on. It's like really. We're starting to get bigger but it wasn't you know you didn't think about it being in Vegas and Professional Sports in Vegas. Everybody Kinda went at the time. Sporting wasn't really the big thing as far as the biggest entertainment in the world so they bought into it and even they all said you know what let's do it and if they built a beautiful race track. F- years later Putin Smith buys it puts that beautiful garage in their makes this an entertainment race where they've got showgirls and live bands and the infield and it was a big deal and my dad early on realize what it was the biggest sporting event in vegas like the biggest event we had as a town. It was huge. And we've been trying to fight and scratch and for a second date and we got a second date and if there's a place they can do it it's Vegas so for me the Las Vegas businessman and local. We've bought into this thing years ago. Alex we love the Racing Nascar fans in Vegas loved the racing. Look how many race car drivers are from Las Vegas? You know okay I suck. I mean I never became anything really great. But you've got Kyle Busch Kurt Busch. You've got no Gregson coming up. You have the allegiant airlines racing team which had spencer racing for a while and now. Spencer runs their program but they've own their own race team. They're Vegas residents you've got Riley herbs coming up now no Gregson coming up. Now you got superstars from the future being groomed vegas hotbed. There's you realize there is not any other town in America. That has as many champions in Nascar Stars Than Las Vegas us. He says Spencer and Their Race Team that Spencer Gallagher G. M. S. Racing's what he's referring to okay but but Las Vegas a lot of people have visited Las Vegas whether it's for a convention whether just a little vacation people don't realize that is a booming place for people to live. This is a big place which now I think the sports world beginning to embrace that you mentioned this the second date. Nascar race there. We've got the raiders town. Obviously the National Hockey League Zehr Professional Baseball's or not major league maybe yet but professional baseball is there the professional bull riders. Are there everything that is top notch? Sports is now going to vegas as town. That knows how to follow trends in the one thousand nine hundred. Vegas wasn't adult playground right. You had all the shows on the Strip. Were were topless reviews and very adult oriented in the nineties. It became more kid friendly place and the town went kid-friendly we built the MGM was built and they built an amusement park with circus circus. Adventure Dome Roller coasters. And all these things and then vegas went back to being a little more. Not Quite as adult as it was in the seventies and eighties. But more you know what the kids stuff didn't make us as much money. Let's go back to what made us money. And we went after Broadway plays and big time. Production shows with the cirque shows and everything. Now what is the biggest form of entertainment in the world? Sports Sports is the biggest business. So Vegas doesn't drop those trends. We suckered the raiders into coming to Las Vegas. We built an arena on personally one of the worst pieces you could ask for but they built an NFL stadium. Right in the dead center of the resort corridor and now we have this beautiful facility. That's going to have the football team there. That's going to have. We're going to have the super bowl one day. We're going to have even bigger concerts than we already. Have Vegas rides trends? They just move. The you said professional baseball there. The Las Vegas fifty ones. The fifty one's invented a stadium. That's been there since nineteen Ho. God there was like nineteen seventy nine eighty two or something that's been a you know a AAA ballclub forever. They built the Hughes. Exact corporations built a core GIS May. It's not a major league baseball saying but it's one of the top three stadiums in AAA baseball up in Summerlin Nevada. Because sports is too big now and they're selling out AAA games. Nhl came. Oh my God you never thought it would work now. Nhl Nfl's there you talk about. Maybe Major League baseball coming. I think the biggest driver now though is when we grew up Alex. And you've been around the sport with mealtime. Yeah saying the word gambling almost got. You tackled and Hog tied and put a gag ball in your mouth. Don't say that word now. We Talk I I. I just got done doing the gone racing show. It's a betting show on Sundays. Me and people stony have the fancy racing show Vegas embraced it now. The world is embracing it and Keely for us. Nascar has embraced it. And that's a huge thing for sport. Brendan gone joining us here. You mentioned the moneymaking. You bring up the gambling. Obviously gambling is synonymous with Las Vegas and whether people wanted to talk about it or not. It was taboo. I think that quite a bit gambling is now what it is and people can say what they want but fantasy racing is a form of gambling. Listen when they asked me if I wanted to do a fantasy racing show on Sirius? Xm Yeah just gambling NASCAR and that and they go. No it's fantasy and I go. Yeah it's gambling NASCAR like nobody's fantasy. I'm like yeah I got it I can do it the world though we grew up in a world there were twenty years ago. I almost lost a ride because somebody even mentioned the fact about my family's history that was like I couldn't even talk about it now. We have the studio the Vegas Data and information network is a glass box in the middle of our Casino and Sports Book that beautiful. It's unheard of Alex. Like now other places are doing it now. They're jumping in it. Everybody's doing it nascar embrace this early. When when NASCAR came they were the first professional sport other than boxing to come to Las Vegas and Nascar said you know what that's fine? Put Bets up on your board way. We're worried about the team staying in casinos and doing it. They they never. They knew that our sport didn't have to worry about that stuff so they've they've embraced it now even more so. Kansas has a casino out of turn to right on the facility. Nascar just now. It's a huge pen. Gaming of last year they announced the deal and I can't remember which bet betting site they didn't Nascar's coming out with their own in game fantasy betting APP so you can bet during the race change when the stages end. Nascar is the sport that has the biggest upside from the betting standpoint football. It's been happening forever it's saturated yeah. It'll gain more more places that are legal. It'll gain more that you'll see more legally bet but it's already been illegally bet for decades. Nascar now is going to have the biggest uptick because now as fans go wait. Wait wait. I can bet. And they're going to be heart betters. Which is the Best I love Kyle? Larson I'm going to bet on. Kyle Larson you know. This is GonNa be people that just bet with their hearts and it's going to be awesome and as a businessman businessman. That's a good thing. Well we let our hearts because normally the heart doesn't do as well as the head but the main thing is it's available now and the ways it's available we've come up with ways to make racing fun to bet group matchups. Were you pick for people? You don't have to win the race. Now you're picking a race. It's a forty man horse race. It's really hard to pick a winner but you can do top three. You can do group match ups. You can do head to head matchups. You've made it where now in the old days if it's a boring race man you're watching the guy lead by thirty seconds like. Oh this sucks. Guess what now go to sixteenth and seventeenth. And I'M GONNA show you Chris. Buscher Austin Dillon. Ty Dillon and and Almost at Elliott Sadler and Tyler rettig their group F. That's the big money for somebody. Somebody has five hundred bucks on a plus two eighty on tyler radic to win that group and there's five to go. You can have drama in sixteenth place. It makes television. Go better makes eyeballs WANNA watch longer and in the end. What does that do mean? Sponsors want to be here it brings us all up. The rising tide floats every boat. Hire Well said also you Mitch in Las Vegas as a city keeps up with the trends. All Right South Point Hotel Casino. It's great to keep up but you also want to be a leader. What are you guys doing to try to separate yourself and be the leaders in these trends? We were the first ones to put a television studio insider casino. We've we when the laws started changing. We got really lucky. That I'm a guy that you might have heard of once or twice some guy named Brent Musburger via small-time Guy Brent musburger built the visa network and he wanted to do it in the south point and he got a typical Michael. Gone deal a lifetime lease for one dollars a year and okay It's it's a typical. It's a great Michael. Gone that great businessman that he is give it away and and look but it started it started a phenomenon in Las Vegas and in the country that now we can talk about these things. They're a twenty four seven network. Now that talks all day. Long Sports. Betting doesn't matter what it is NASCAR included. That's one of the biggest things. And then we also were were the only Rena with the world's largest or country's largest indoor equestrian center so we just we have our niche. We work well in our niche and my father as much as I'd love it hates pains me to say it but when you're lucky so many times in a row you kind of have to start saying you might be good. I think Michael God's got a career in this he does I think Brennan Gone has occurs. Well speaking of career you're driving career. You've said twenty twenty will be your last year as a racecar. When he's seventeen was my last year. Ten Twenty Twenty S my last year of being just having fun and going on vacation. So what's next for Brendon? Got Obviously based off everything. You said you're going to still have a footprint in the sport of NASCAR racing may be just a different realm. Well I just. I'm not going to come and play in the NASCAR world anymore. I've had a great career. If you told me in nineteen ninety-seven that I've even been have half the career I had. I'd be honored so look busy already. Got City Light. Shine my moonshine company. That old NASCAR official. Mike Dolan is my distiller. We're out there and it started to do well. I got a cleaning company. I have two casinos in in Mesquite Nevada that I run for my family so I am busy enough as it is and then I have two children and we are starting to. Bmx big time and it's time for their area there era for me to start doing it with them. But I'll always be driving I race mile road stuff. I won the Baja thousand last year. Which for our family is is big to us as the Daytona five hundred. Everybody around here and I might go if I can lose some weight. Yes I need to lose some weight. Go figure I said that on there. I'm okay with it I'd love to get back. Maybe some sports cars have two bucket list races that I still WanNa get to. And they are Paris to car which I was almost pulled the trigger on this year but I will make sure most likely and and so I wanna do those two still got lucile. Wait to get to the mall. What's the magic number weight? Wise that you need to lose. I can lose about if I can get back to about two. Oh five two hundred. I'd be happy you can do that. Oh I I can do it. The question is how much effort I'm going to put into it. You know as you get older. It wasn't as easy when I was twenty five to lose twenty pounds so now it's going to take a little more effort brandon all the best. Thanks for so much and look forward to to what's next for you. Brinton gone always appreciate it. Mr Haden Sir. That's Brendan Gone and Alex. Hayden on the way next forty eight stories with Jimmy Johnson. And later we'll take you back to this week. "Of NASCAR live. You know earlier Jimmy. Johnson said this would be his last full time season in the NASCAR Cup series and I had a chance to go face to face with a seven time champ. Now the checkered flag is coming out. It is all over and Jimmy Johnson for the eleventh time in his career has picked up the win here at Dover Jimmy Heading into twenty twenty year last season and I kind of have the sense that this wasn't like a light switch epiphany tight moment when you said twenty twenty. It's going to be in it. Was it more like a dimmer switch where it was eventually just bright enough to where he said. Okay yes and no. I very intentional with the things that I do. I spend a Lotta time literally writing pros and cons and just trying to make logical decision and I kind of got to technical with it in had time still on my side from Rick and ally all of our partners truthfully like a feeling show and in that can enforce in October timeframe. It was crazy to me that once that feeling showed up by new and it was time to go. I could have waited till you started the year of some other different points in time but once once I knew ricky gave me the advice when I went to his house to let them know. Like you're not GonNa want to sit on this phone we're GONNA have to move quickly and Here we got through the end of the year the last race Miami and decided to To send out that video announcement that we did. And since that moment and the announcement and the decision. I've had nothing but more clarity on its infield so good about the decision I made you know. It's it's retirement from fulltime NASCAR racing. It doesn't mean that I've done racing and put everything possibly can into this year and to be as competitive as I can be hopefully winning races.

"He came. Welcome back and ask our live free time now. Daytona five hundred champion Denny. Hamlin joins US ON THE GUEST LINE. And then he Congratulations are certainly in order. But it's a swirl of emotions around everything that happened at the end of that race we got some pretty good news late today on Ryan Newman's condition. But I wanted to start off by talking with you about what happened at the end of that race. Because you know you're doing donuts and you're celebrating you think way we won the Daytona. Five hundred. People are climbing all over you guys. And I think it's a little bit outta line because people don't really have a concept of how gigantic places and all the swirl that goes along take us through the end of that race and let folks know what really happened there Yeah I mean. It was pretty simple and straightforward from our standpoint Once we cross the line you know. Obviously we're congratulations all and all of that going on the radio and then I go down to check you know which is pretty normal like that done and then kind of go celebrate as I'm going out of London attack spider says Hey Mary leave room for the safety vehicles going to the crash and verse torture and so yeah of course wrecks happen all the time and they know that especially at the end and I don't know the severity of it So I go to you know go through the grasping out a few times. I'm looking around like well. Where's Jamie little like we're supposed to be doing an interview here? Sir Finish on so. I set my car for second way on her. And then I saw the crew guys kinda rushing out there and so I got out of the car and we all gave hugs and everything and then I realized Oh. I don't think we're doing this interview. So she came by like. Hey just go straight to Victory Lane. And that's when they told me that What was all going on with Ryan so You know it was unfortunate We didn't. I didn't know you know certainly had a- drove into victory lane and you know call today but Yeah I just I wasn't. I didn't know anything that was going on and super unfortunate for for Ryan and and his team it really was but at least we got a little bit of encouraging news late today and this is really one of those events that shows you how tight and ask our community is doesn't it. Yeah absolutely I mean you know we all you know. He's a father two girls. I got two girls so it all kind of puts his perspective of you know the gotTa cherish every moment. You never know right. We take these cards for granted super-safe and we've been very fortunate for the last nearly twenty years but you just never know when something Freak accident could happen similar to what happened with Ryan where he he turned over. And you had a car hit them at probably the wrong spot that that you would wanna get hit and in a very vulnerable place. I think that's an interesting point because I think we have kind of gotten to. Where with all the improvements that have been made to the cars? We we kind of expect guys to just pop out of the car and walk away. And that's that just shows you. It's not always the case. Yeah no it definitely is not always the case. That's for sure but You know I it's sometimes you gotta have kind of a wake up call and and I think this hopefully it looks like His his conditions improving which is great. And so maybe it could be one of those moments where we shirts really buckle down and say okay you know. How can we use this study this and make the cars? Let's talk a little bit about the race itself because three out of the last five Daytona five hundred trophies are now yours and you've kind of become the superspeedway whisperer here. What have you done to get to this point where you kind of figure your way? Through all this and navigate your way to the end of these superspeedway races especially at Daytona. Because it's a different beast than you see weak. The weak yeah. I mean. We've just been on an incredible run the last nine years or so maybe eight or nine years with having like top five in the last nine years. Since it's something crazy you know something I never would envision but we just got on a run there and seems like you know we've we've found a knack or we've been really lucky one of the two of being able to get to the end of these things but You know I I was. I probably could've or should've been in in your the wrecks. Were there yesterday. And and just we found our our our way around it and You know we get to the end. I feel confident that you know. I've got enough of a notebook from from past years that I know what kind of moves need to make to try to get a victory and you know really. I use a lot of you know with Ryan right there at the finish line You know Kinda sucks him back similar to what I did. At true x-ray finish line in two thousand sixteen. We talk about these races all the time and you got teased a little bit. After a comment you made a Daytona Media Day about kind of being able to sense when things were about to go awry but there really is something to that isn't there. What did you mean by that because I think the guys who really have success at these tracks can kind of feel when something is not quite right? Yeah I mean he's just kind of consensus it you know. Use Your your senses right and you can use your eyes to see the intensities getting ramped up and really once we got inside that last fuel window inside inside of Stage three I mean I I was in places I didn't want to be. I mean I was literally about the bailout package because I could. I could just sense that we we're not going to be able to continue just sustain the moves that we were all making like somebody was going to make a mistake and and push too hard or too close and calls wreck and I mean it happened. I just happened to be able to squeak through it And so I was really fortunate there. But you know it's the racing and the first stage is so different than it is in the first in the last thirty forty laps of the race that it's it's an entirely different race and you have to position ourselves before that even let's finish up with this any now with Daytona. I know that's been on your mind ever since you. You cross the start finish line but now we get back to mile and a half tracks heading to Las Vegas this weekend. What are you looking for there with a year worth of knowledge under our belts now after racing car last year yeah? I'm looking forward to it personally with our team Definitely are worse racetrack. We raised at last. It was by far worse race. Track so I I love. The challenge are going back there and like conquering something. That has gotten the best. You so I'm interested to see what Chris brings there for me and and go work on Friday to see if we can't make a race winning car right. Well Danny congratulations. Three out of the last five to five hundred trophies are yours and we'll look forward to catching Las Vegas and see how things go out there. All right thank you there you go. Hamlin driver of the Fedex Toyota the Daytona five hundred champion again. When we come back we'll chat with Jimmy. Johnson Sir are you where you were going forty.

ESPN radio throughout the debt. He has for a long time now been a courtside season ticket kit older for the Charlotte bobcats and the and the Hornets. And I'm sorry I'm sorry that you that's been the case any like. Why do you keep throwing away that money that way? Well I actually got me a great Friendship and partnership with the Jordan brand. Hey are you not know it all Kinda works out. Well friendship with Jordan himself right. I I've read you telling the stories about being I don't know if it's weirded out but super super surprised as I am that Michael Jordan is a huge racing fan. Yeah no doubt He said that You know 'cause I was asked him you know how how he knew. He asked me about a ratio going on two weeks ago and this has been ten years ago and he says I don't understand what happened there and I was like. Wow you watch racing man and I've been ever since I was a kid. My Dad used to take me to the races all the time and just last wanted ever. Since so he'll he'll be down here Miami and GonNa come support me again and The last time we were in the final four was two thousand fourteen. He broke the family down. He's going to do that again. This past Jordan going to dance wedding. Oh my gods So he travels with you he travels around with you to support US specifically but how did the friendship. How did it form? What was the starting point on it? It really started at a Hornets game. I mean I was Obviously he sits kinda right there by the players and where I have to walk out During Halftime has to go You know pick up a couple of Coca Cola's is Right there right past where the players are at. So I'm walking by and he I guess he's just Kinda grammy or hey you know. Of course I'm looking at him and he he struck up a conversation. We kinda exchanged phone numbers. And we're Texan kind of for the whole second half of that game and they say that that was you know he's he's been great religious. A A great friend of mine and you know messages. Need on the regular saying good luck or good job or man Dan. You you you stunk there. Did you think to yourself the while. You're texting him. The whole second half. What the Hell's happening here I am I was I was? I had my friend with me right there in Obviously he's like wait a minute what what are you gonNa like. He's I can't believe this is looking at and so of course I was saying boy Dow but breath. Yeah he's just he's down Earth Guy. Obviously we both share a lot interesting golf. I come out came down to Florida for them. So it's been it's been a good fun on friendship way. Do you text him like. Hey Michael let's go fix the damn team. No I I know my boundaries and in one is to not talk about the orange. Okay well are your boundaries do include and again this is Denny Hamlin the Nascar Cup series championship. Homestead Miami speedway Sunday three PM EASTERN ON NBC. Do you have an indoor basketball court correct. Correct Yeah So have you been tempted to invite him or is that outside the boundaries. Well I mean I I've not. I may have invited him at some point. You know his Charlotte's main residents obviously mostly down here in Florida but Yeah I mean I know my limitations. You know. We don't look we don't like to look foolish. So why would I volunteer. Look Foolish and and have him over there just an embarrassing. I gotTa Tell Ya. Friendship with Jordan seems very stressful. You don't want to send the wrong thing or else it's over. No doubt it out to do you have any good Jordan gambling stories Well not none of the stakes that That's been in the media late later but We we like to have a friendly wager for sure. Can you tell me a little bit about what happened with you. Enjoy Lugano a couple of weeks ago. You seem like a reasonable man eve- even tempered but those things happen sometimes when racing. That are problematic. Correct I mean you know from my standpoint I made a mistake on the racetrack Got Into the side of them where it was at the end of the race where everyone the role was pushing and shoving and it was really tight quarters this at Nascar short track And it basically cut his tired out and and it was upset about it. Wanted come over and talk to me We were having a very civil conversation for a while but I don't think that I probably was giving him like the You know man and I you know I'm so sorry I'm so sorry type attitude toward them I was you know I apologize. That I wasn't over the top. And he I guess he just Kinda took offense to it and then he'll shovel the shoulder but as he was walking away not not as he was standing there and so I was like no you. Can't you can't do that so you gotta are. You gotta stick up for yourself and and essentially go after the guy so what level of sorry where you actually though like did did you. You were sorry yeah absolutely I mean I knew that I messed up I told him that I just misjudge the situation. And if that answered just good enough you know for him and I think that yeah really I think he you know. He's stated that he would do things differently. I don't know that I would. I mean you can't just let someone you know you kind of shove on the way on the way out the door and not doing anything about it so I think it was handled the way it needed to be any Hamlin. Once you've got a baby we got my kids here and they're starting to play with each other langer my lap so I just yeah. We're down here in Media Day in Miami Getting Ready for the last race and I want to enjoy it with them and spend time with them. During the time Roy for some reason dumped the baby a baby was not cursing. It was just a baby. I got scared thought it was occurs denny any handling with us the NASCAR Cup Series Championship. Homestead Miami speedway this Sunday three PM Eastern on NBC. When you look back so you've you've been very steady is is the big memory? If you have to choose one victory is it does it have to be Daytona. Because because of the tradition there. You've wanted twice another one. It's the biggest race by far as far as the prestigious side of things. You know one two of them One of them in two thousand sixteen was on a final passed. We had the closest finish in the history of that race You know that was a big one. But I'll be honest us with is probably the one I had last weekend was the most significant one of my career because we were in a win or go home situation we had to to win and we you know we. We didn't win. Essentially were out and we work can be part of the championship. Four in Miami and we stepped up to the plate and we knocked doc it out Denney put us at the post race celebration after winning your first Daytona. It was major. I can tell you this. I was not prepared for the the media. Day that that ensued right after Daytona in two thousand sixteen. I learned my lesson two thousand nineteen though I definitely did not go quite as it's hard at it but man. It was a tough plane. Right up I was sick for most of the day and between interviews it was just. It was a tough one. Well how much did you drink like. What was that nightline? Did you sleep at all. Well I don't know you know you can't you lose cam at some point right so you were throwing. Oh you got you got sick that yeah I mean you guys are once in a lifetime opportunities and he just you know I was able to have my team around and so most wins After the races are over the driver you know gets an in the plane. He goes home the teams in the plane and they go home and they're never together but with Tony. No no you guys use media the next day so you have to stay overnight at the track. Well as you know in the city so it'd be able to like go out that night and celebrate with them essentially like a championship. Mike Ryan is staring right. Now at your home on the Internet We're doing this to us so you're not bragging about this but can you sort of take. Take us on a tour fewer trying to impress somebody with your home. What what would you show them? If you were trying to impress somebody. Okay all right. That's a pretty easy easy. When I mean you can either go to victory lanes where there's putting green and a bowling alley and all that stuff and or you can go upstairs stairs? My favorite room has always been my media room Where we watch movies and stuff but it has a glass wall that looks into that two thousand Sixteen Daytona five hundred car with the trophy right there next to it? So it's it's like victory lanes you know. We have the confetti. The car dirty still right off the racetrack. So being able to have like that car. That's significant car. My biggest win sitting right there in the living room is very cool. My grind is just sitting here staring at this. How did that go over? Were there any objections putting it there anywhere else in the family. No No I had sole control of the building of with that house So I kind of did it in is oddly enough you know when I was In the middle of doing all the plans and all that stuff I knew knew that I wanted to have this kind of glass show room of of cars that are significant to me and my career But never knew like what would be that that. That's let's showcase car like I don't have a showcase car An oddly enough right before we moved in. We want to five hundred and I'm like well we've got the car now at school Denny Hamlin with us again Nascar Cup series championship. Homestead Miami speedway this Sunday at three PM EASTERN ON NBC Denny. Thank you for being on with us. We appreciate it all right guys. Thank you L. I..
