#272 70th Anniversary GP Race Review, F1 DOTY, WRC Is Cool But Flawed & Why I Don't Cover NASCAR

"Oh my goodness. Good morning. Good afternoon. Whatever. It is free. Oh, I hope you're having a fantastic day. My name is Zach shomler. This is strong opinion Sports episode 252. Thank you so very much for tuning in. This is a predominantly f 1 episode going to talk it is look it's a racing episode. We're not going to talk about basketball. I'm watching for basketball games tonight, maybe 5 if that's where my heart takes me the TJ watt film analysis is in progress. I found some already some really impressive stuff about TJ watt there's some college football news. Apparently the Big Ten and the Pac-12 are expected to cancel their Seasons. I'm going to wait till we have more information to really elaborate on that and go down that road. So I think football fans right now that are strong opinion sports fans as well or going sack, where's the content and I would tell them guys no problem like the contents coming later down at the end of the month, you know, as late as I possibly can. I'm going home. You NFL predictions Taco what I think's going to happen during the year who's going to win? Who's not again? I wait till the end of the year because I don't want to I want to factor in injuries. And as many I want as much information as I possibly can before make predictions about the 2020 season. I have some film analysis of quarterbacks coming up soon. That's vital to my predictions like Philip Rivers. Is he good? I don't know when I need to watch the film to find out before I do a real in-depth breakdown of how the Colts are going to do this year. There's a couple of quarterbacks like that room. Like I just need more information to make a healthy prediction. But again, today's episode is all about racing talk about the World Rally Championship. I'm going to talk about why NASCAR just doesn't do it for me and respectfully to like NASCAR and soccer or two sports that I get that people love and I simply do not they don't they took for me. We'll talk about why that is but first we got to start with this. We just had the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix at Silverstone in my goodness. What a glorious glorious Thursday. First of all, it wasn't just at my favorite driver Max for Staffing one. The whole race was fun interesting exciting. It felt like it went by in a blur of such a fast race track. I love Max for snapping. I think for sure part of that is because and simply due to the fact that he's the only person that appears to be able to challenge Mercedes, but man I have also got so much admiration for Max. He's a talented driver. He gets the most out of his car racing and race out and I want to talk about Max verstappen strategy down the road in a minute. But first we thought about Mercedes because Mercedes finished in second and third eye silverson Lewis Hamilton got second valtteri bottas was in third and you know, Max verstappen kept the pace quite easy Mercedes. In fact, it many points of the race, you know, yesterday Max was driving and had lap times that were faster than Mercedes was very very cool to see, you know at one point. He was even an entire Pit Stop ahead. Lewis Hamilton, which is like what? I haven't seen that from Max any it's been a long time since we've seen anybody in a healthy lead over Mercedes. It's like wow, this is pretty cool to see an part of why Max verstappen was so far ahead was because of I guess was not really so far ahead but was ahead of Mercedes was because Mercedes was having Tire problems and wage interestingly enough Mercedes was really the only team having Tire problems during the race, you know, both Mercedes cars had really bad blistering on their tires. Basically their tires kept over-heating Faith Like melting away on the tarmac and the theory out there that I kind of subscribe to as well is that potentially this is happening due to the fact that Mercedes cars generate so much downforce with the design of their car. So The Hires heat up faster than all the other cars and kind of melt away because of that downforce created. Now I do want to talk about Red Bull strategy with Max because oh my goodness. It was pretty cool. They took a risk in qualifying. Remember whatever tires you use to qualify with you have to also use to start the rice and so max used hard tires and qualifying and that did hurt him and qualifying it cost him some time. He qualified for P4 to start the race, but the home compound tires that he used are more durable. They might be slower but they're more durable in the long run and it helped him during the race you on Instagram Max it after qualifying on Saturday. She said not happy with p 4 but our but our choice of Tire could make it interesting tomorrow. It's like, oh, all right, and man Max really told the future he wage rewrite the the hard compound tires really helped Max verstappen. He didn't have any tire trouble Mercedes was burning up like a flame and the reality was that Mercedes was helpless to do anything. About it. They could not really find an in race adjustment to make and they realized at one point, you know, Red Bull just beat us today and they became really focused Mercedes became focused on we gotta try to get sick or third and get as many points as possible. Cuz today we're not going to be Max verstappen and Red Bull. We gotta just survive the day and you know Mercedes seems appears to really struggle in the heat. That's a big narrative coming along in form of the one right now. So the question is How can Mercedes avoid this from happening again in the future next weekend? The race is in Barcelona Spain and that's in literally like it's next weekend a couple of days off and some Mercedes has two very very quickly come up with an adjustment to handle the heat and avoid having blistering tires if they want to dominate the race on Saturday on Sunday, excuse me, and you know, we're saying he does have massive massive resources. So if it's down for maybe they can find a way to reduce the downforce. My question is if it is down force and they do find a way to reduce the downforce set-up of their car could that maybe slow them down and it's very possible that in a pursuit to handle the heat better Mercedes could entirely screw up their car and make it you know, they just gave you Tinker a little bit. You can screw everything up we've seen that in the past where a team has a good set up they make a change and they actually make their car worse. It's possible that If Mercedes car gets slowed down, then it's gonna throw a really big set of unexpected adversity in the way of Mercedes kind of like a he already did last weekend and I honestly wouldn't mind if Mercedes dominance got slowed down a little bit and maybe making things more competitive. I want to see a a Formula One grid where we have Red Bull and Mercedes and Ferrari and maybe the best of the rest all pushing closer together. It'll be really really fascinating and fun. And so I don't know I don't love watching races where Mercedes and I don't hate Mercedes. A lot of people hate on Mercedes. You have to respect them. They're a well-coached team. They have a lot of money sure and you can say they buy wins and I honestly wouldn't argue too much with you on that but they're still very well run. They make good decisions and Valerie bought us and Lewis Hamilton are very very talented drivers. You can't take that away from them, but I I hate to say like I don't hate to say that it's important to admit that. The more the Mercedes is nerfed. The better it is for everybody else. It's more interesting to watch Formula One when Mercedes is on more of a Level Playing Field with the rest of the grid. you know now I want to talk about voucher about. Because What happened without sorry on Sunday gives him a justifiable reason to be frustrated in my opinion. You know Mercedes had Botox take his second Pit Stop much off earlier than Lewis Hamilton. And so at the end of the race Lewis Hamilton had fresher better tires and easily passed voucher botas and it's like I don't know if that was favoritism or not, but it did look a little bit like favoritism towards Lewis Hamilton and from voucher botas perspective. I could totally understand his frustration being like guys you left me hanging. I had no chance to pass because he had better fresher tires, whatever strategy you were doing. Why didn't I get that strategy as well? Why did I get such a they did two pit stops along run a beginning a very short run in the middle of a longer one at the end weidenbaum a longer run at the middle similar to Lewis Hamilton. So weird team decision and valtteri bottas has every right to be a little bit frustrated in that instance. Now Charlotte Claire had a good day for Ferrari you finished before he had a One-Stop strategy executed it very very well. And you know, that means you took a 1,000 only one Pit Stop during a 52 lap race. It's awesome. I really enjoy watching shower laclare and to me he really out performed the car in the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix at Silverstone. I mean he I I hope that Ferrari can improve as a team down the road because Charlotte Claire could win a lot of races in my opinion with a better car. He's a great driver and I just want to see off and move around him not keeping cuz I don't really care about Ferrari. I'm not one of these guys like yeah Ferrari, I just like Charlotte Claire and maybe one of my favorite parts of formula one anyway in sports in general. I root for players or four people for athletes. I'm not in New Orleans Saints fan. I'm a Drew Brees fan. I'm not doing a Patriots fan. I'm a Tom Brady fan but I love players and I love rooting for drunk drivers in the sport. It's so fun. And I want to see Charles LeClaire get more support around him because he's a talented driver and I don't want to see it his prime years get wasted and I think he's he's on the cusp of time. We saw a couple flubs earlier this year. We'll talk about you know, there was that moment in the steering Grand Prix where for whatever reason Charles LeClaire drove inside making it three-wide on his team-mate Sebastian Vettel that was an unnecessary risk, it would cost him but I will say a man Charlotte killer just gets better and better and better every time I watch him and he's entering his Prime and I really hope that Ferrari does not waste those years with shower Leclair. Now I do want to discuss a the complicated. I don't even know what to call it. The the complicated season of Sebastian Vettel, you know, he's the other driver for Ferrari ever heard of The Other Woman like you're married and you have the other woman the woman who's not as important smashing that will see other driver for Ferrari and Look Ferrari has a good PR team. Say All the Right Stuff Ferrari makes it look like they're trying to help Sebastian Vettel they sit what they say is we love said we're making all these adjustments. We're trying to get better performance out of our car wash. The problem is that on the track. It looks like the only reason Sebastian Vettel is out there is because Ferrari needs to have two cars on the track there for Seb needs to be out there. I mean you can say a lot of pretty stuff about Sebastian Vettel honestly Ferrari every time they say we're trying to make adjustments. It really feels like they're blaming Sebastian Vettel and I really have never been a fan ever since I there's so many movies about Ferrari and about, you know watch This is silly but even the way they're predicting either they're shown in the media why it's Ford versus Ferrari or watch. What am I saying? Watch Rush? I know these are movies but early on in life for our was painted as a company that is a little bit weird. They have a lot of favoritism. There's a lot of stuff that goes on behind the scenes at Ferrari that I go. I don't like how they're run and off. Unfortunately. They're living up to the way they're portrayed in the media and any part that's because they're portrayed accurately in the media. I mean, why was Sebastian Vettel given a completely different strategy then Charles LeClaire I get you have to infer inform the one if you give both your driver's the same strategy, you are more prone to having things go wrong. You want more of a scattershot. We're we're gonna try one strategy with this guy another strategy with this guy to see if you know, if one fails the other one might work I get that but from Sebastian vettel's perspective you go. You gotta be frustrated like why is Charles LeClaire getting the best off? For when I'm not I'm clearly not wanted. I'm sure that's how sad would feel and it's clear said that's the worst car of the two Ferrari drivers. It seems like Sebastian Vettel gets no love no attention and Ferrari appears to just be done with him. Like they're like, hey, we've already moved on we're done. We gotta finish the year with you cuz you're here you're under contract and we need a second driver home but Sebastian Vettel finished p12 and Ferrari appears to be not really be investing very much and I get it. He's leaving so I don't blame for our area kind of somewhat understand for re going this page on his way out. We're not going to wrestle I tend to them but I do have to feel bad for Sebastian Vettel like man, this dude is not getting the love or attention. He needs to be successful as a driver and it does appear that in the standings. It hurts them and maybe Ferraris accepted we're not going to win this year. This year's all about developing Charles LeClaire. I get it. But either way Sebastian Vettel still an important part of your team. Number two driver is a guy who can bring in points for your team and Ferrari has appeared to just completely right off Sebastian Vettel and does not appear to care very much what happens to him? I don't care what they say about people are going to comment, you know, well, they said this they said that they said this what are their actions actions speak way louder than words and Ferraris actions appear that they have very little care in the world happens to Sebastian Vettel as long as he finishes the race to some degree. Now Nico hulkenberg finished in peace seven. He was filling in for racing point for Sergio Perez filling in for Sergio Perez with racing point and obviously the dream of having Nico hulkenberg get a Podium. It didn't happen. It was a little bit disappointing and I'll be honest Nico hulkenberg did not even outperform his team-mate Lance stroll and you can say well and strong has been driving the car. All year is got more familiarity. Land store got P6, Nico hulkenberg got p7 and there was a brief moment of excitement for me when Nico hulkenberg went and got out of tires a man who he's going for fastest lap and that never happened and racing points going to be happy to get Sergio Perez back whenever he does come back, I think next weekend and honestly, I believe that Nico hulkenberg may have just missed out on his chance to ever get a form of the one Podium position. Maybe he gets another spot down the road right now. He's not signed with anybody next year in formula. One and I would be shocked if Nico hulkenberg ever really gets another opportunity in a great car to get a podium in Formula One. I like Nico hulkenberg. I I hope he does maybe someday both doctor bottas and Lewis Hamilton retire and they go. Hey, we're going to bring in George Russell and Nico hulkenberg will be our driver number to that'd be pretty cool. That's a dream of dreams. I think honestly they're Mercedes is Esteban ocon whenever they need a new number two and maybe George Russell. Is that guy to be their number one some day in the future, but to me, it's like me and Nico hulkenberg got piece off and started in P3. The dream died pretty quickly right off. The jumpy got passed by Max verstappen and I don't think that Nico hulkenberg ever going to get another opportunity this good to have a chance at a Podium spot. I just don't think Nico hulkenberg is ever going to get a Podium position at the end of a race ever going to finish in the top three of a Formula 1 race in the rest of his life time. It's sad It's also an unfortunate reality. I mean, he's gone a hundred and seventy eight races now and never gotten a Podium and you can blame the cars all you want you can do whatever you want. But I feel like if Nicolas Berg and you can even say like Nico hulkenberg was in a car wasn't very familiar with this weekend and all those arguments make sense to me. But the reality is that Nico hulkenberg repeatedly hasn't gotten it done that and it's sad it's harsh. I don't even like that. I like Nico hulkenberg. He's a good dude, but repeatedly he hasn't delivered when he needed to Alex Alban peniston finished in P5. Honestly thought Albert had a tough weekend, but I will say p v is not terrible p v it's better than he's done in a while. He had in the steering Grand Prix. He got p 4 a.m. I want to see Alex album pushing Max verstappen and Mercedes weekend and week out, you know, P five behind Charles LeClaire is an improvement for Alex. I want to give him credit their home. It's a step in the right direction and I just want to see more Improvement down the road from Alex Alban. We'll talk about why that is in a minute. Now after the race after the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix, the driver standings are now like this. Number one. You have Lewis Hamilton with a hundred and seven points number to making a jump ahead Max verstappen as 77.73. You have after Botox with 73 points. Then after those three, you have Charles LeClaire with 45 points and Lando Norris with 38 points. That's the top five right now in the driver's license and formula one. Now in the constructors standings in the team standings. You have Mercedes with a hundred eighty points. Number two, you have Red Bull with a hundred thirteen points. That's the battle for the top two now the battle for third and also the battle for best of the rest, you have 15 vying for two spots. You have number 3 Ferrari with 55 points number for McLaren with 53 points number five racing point with 41 points even thought they also had 15 points deducted. They're still very competitive there in the race there the fifth-highest team right now in Formula One and then you have rental in fifth place with 36 points home rentals in sixth place with 36 points the two big battles right now in Formula One are who is going to get third and fourth for teams competing for only two spots. So who is going to get third? Is it Ferrari? Is it rent a McLaren? Is it r n o as a racing point Who's going to get fourth for teams vying for two spots? And then who's going to win the game? F1 championships he was going to win the drivers championship and who's going to win the team Constructors Cup Championship. Max verstappen is in second behind Lewis Hamilton in the drivers Championship. He's ahead of outdoor boat dock and Max were snapping really has a chance to push Lewis Hamilton Lewis Hamilton, especially with the heat coming up. If Lewis Hamilton's tires are struggling again next week and maybe the week after that Max verstappen has a great opportunity here to make a run at Lewis Hamilton now Red Bulls. The only team near Mercedes their number two in the constructors cup and if Mercedes keep struggling with heat, it's going to open up an opportunity where Red Bull So Max or sap driver can compete with Lewis Hamilton and but if Red Bull wants to as a Team Challenge Mercedes two things need to happen. Number one Mercedes needs to keep having problems with tires and they need to keep having heat issues a blistering needs to continue in order to help Red Bull stay competitive with Mercedes. But number to Alex album needs to step up with Alex. Alba needs to take a step forward and join the conversation for third and fourth place every single race every race this year like it or not dependent on results you've had Mercedes one and two and Max verstappen at the top Alex Alba needs to jump ahead and join that conversation. So that's what I'm looking for in the coming weeks and Formula 1 month how it is Mercedes handle the heat what happens in the battle for third and fourth and can Alex Alban make a step forward to join the conversation at the top in Podium finishes long weekend and week out in Formula One races. Alex. Alman is the key to Red Bull success. He needs to take a step forward and get better. Okay guys want to answer some questions from the audience. It's time for ask Zach. This is my favorite part of the show. It's where we read questions from the audience and case. You don't know how to send in a question. Would you go to patreon.com forward slash you give a dollar a month? You can give more if you want to please do it literally helps pay my rent. But a dollar a month gives you access to both questions on patreon and if you submit a question, I will not guarantee to read your question on the show. My only guarantee is I look at every single question with my eyeballs. I read messages. I try to respond to them every time I can and I picked the top couple questions to read at the end of every podcast or as often as I do ask Zack on a podcast. I love answering questions. It's a and look down patrons a big deal to me. It really a couple of months ago help pay my bills. It kept us afloat. Really really helpful really big deal. Thank you to the people on patreon. I am so grateful for your support. Now the first question for patreon is from David. David writes in if I can get my stupid phone to flip. Why does this always happen? Whatever reason I use. What is this called Google Docs Google Docs never can figure out how to get the thing vertical. It's such a weird app. Even a screen lock it stays sideways. And so annoying David writes in David says, hey Zach. F one question here among all the Midfield Dr. Teams drivers, which two drivers among field teams. Would you pair up together to make a lineup of your own Midfield team? This is excluding. You cannot have Sebastian Federal shower Le Claire Lewis Hamilton. Robot sauce for stoppin or Alex zalben. Thank you so much David. Thank you for your question. It's funny. You know, first of all, I would call Ferrari right now in Midfield team, but I and I was a bit disappointed. I would have picked up there to be my number one driver if I could so fair enough. I can't have shower Leclair. How would I build a team with only Midfield driver's what what lineup would I want inform of the one there's you know, you said I couldn't have six so that's what's it 20 - 614 other drivers I could choose from and it's funny when I answered this question independently in my head. I actually I ended up picking McLarens current line-up because I really like the two drivers they have and it's funny McLaren's not going to have the next year. It's been a while the tube drivers. I would pick her not going to be teamed up again next year. Maybe it's telling though that I did pick McLaren and the lineup they have right now. I didn't pick McLaren because like McLaren I picked McLaren because I like they're two drivers independently and they bring things to the table. I like I'll explain that right now. Number one the first guy I would she was if I was building a team. Is Carlos Sainz your number two driver is so so important right now. Why is Red Bull not closer to Mercedes? They have a great driver Max for stopping wage, but it's not just your star driver. You need a good number to Alex Alvin has been up to the task. So far this year to join the conversation for Podium finishes very often. I would pick Carlos happens to be my number two driver. I love Carlos Sainz. He's very talented he can get you points. But the most important thing that Carlos Sainz brings to the table as a number two driver is that page unselfish and he's a team player. It's such an underrated quality for your number two driver. Can you get points? And is he going to stay out of the way if your number one driver Factory bolts us is the best number two driver on the grid right now right behind him in my opinion is Carlos Sainz. I love Carlos Sainz. You want to pair Carlos Sainz with a dog? That is how you score. A lot of points McLaren right now. I believe there are forth and the standings that's because of the finish that they're getting from Lando Norris doing his job and Carlos Sainz supporting behind am getting a lot of points with the number two drivers spot, you know Mclaren has Carlos Sainz right now next year Ferraris going to have Charles LeClaire and Carlos Sainz Ferraris going to have their star driver talented young star Charles LeClaire paired with Carlos Sainz who's a Dependable cleanup hitter and a guy who can score points and will not cause problems for a number one driver Ferraris got a good driver line-up moving forward in my opinion. But since I can't pick Charles LeClaire, I cannot pick Max for snapping. I gotta pick somebody to be my number one headlining star driver. I want a young guy. I want someone came up and coming star and in my opinion if I could not have Lewis Hamilton who I don't know if I'd pick Lewis Hamilton now anyway, because he's aging I don't want a younger guy like Hamilton's incredible do not do not home. Got statement to go man you hate Lewis Hamilton Lewis Hamilton utmost respect he's amazing. But if I'm building for the future, I want a guy in his early twenties to build around to me. It's either Max for Staffing or Charles LeClaire. I can't have him or or Lewis Hamilton or LeClaire. So the guy I choose the young Rising Star I would build my team around is Lando Norris. Lando. Norris is twenty years. He's got a cool name that's helps with marketing gotta you gotta Factor then a little bit but not too much. The main thing that landed Norris brings to the table is that he's a crazy talented and his best years are ahead of him. The only two people to get on a Podium this year that were not from a Red Bull or a Mercedes team team were Charles LeClaire Orlando North that says off. Landa Norris is a very very talented young driver if I can't have Max verstappen or I can't have shower laclare then I want Lando Norris and the only reason why Lando Norris isn't dead. In the same level as Charlotte Air Max Force happens because in my opinion is a year or two behind them Max verstappen Charles LeClaire a little bit older. They've been racing a little bit longer and form in the one and I don't even know if that's accurate. I just know that they're older and their results show me they're a little bit better right now. But if you look to the Future Lando Norris is a rising star and I would take Lando Norris as am I young Superstar number one driver in F1. Those three guys were stopping Charles LeClaire Orlando Norris. They are the future of form of the one they are rising Superstars verstappen already is one laclare already kind of is one Lando Norris is on the rise, and I would pick Lando Norris to be my number one driver of all the Midfield teams. So again, I'm only Built the McLaren current line-up right now. And ironically I'm right. It shows in the standings. Oh, wow, who's forth and Formula 1 McLaren because they have other than all the time. Seems to have the best driver line-up in my opinion. Now there are some honorable mentions. I want to talk about Esteban. Ocon is a honorable mention as a number two driver. He's a good dude. He's got some Talent. He's a team player. I like Esteban ocon a lot. And if I couldn't have Carlos Sainz if I couldn't have outdoor botas then my number two driver would in fact be Esteban arconic FS Ma noqon at a faster car. He's a good driver. He's a guy who can score a lot of points great number two, and if I couldn't have landed Norris I couldn't have sour Leclair Max for staff. And as my number one member I'm looking for a young driver who is I believe could have the talent took a future Superstar. Then the guy I would choose is my number one. If I couldn't have those other drivers, I would have George Russell as my number one. He's a great driver in a bad car George Russell's twenty two years. He pushed the Williams car to its limit a couple of times this year and I want to see George Russell and a good car someday. It's very possible. Maybe George Russell is a future driver for Mercedes like when dead battery boat. Has gone or Lewis. Hamilton has gone maybe George Russell's the guy who could replace one of them at Mercedes. And so you're dressel's the if I couldn't have the other driver's eyes listed George Russell is my honorable mention as my number one driver headlining my team hopefully in a good car. Okay. I need some water real quick. But of the giant thing talking a lot this episode how many minutes are we in 27 minutes? And oh my gosh Galant right Cindy says hi Zach. I wanted to say thank you for all content Gallant. Thank you so much. I'm working my butt off. I'm glad you liked it. He says I've been following U for I don't know. How long now I appreciate your work seeing you talk about F1 recently. I want to ask have you ever watched or heard of WRC? If not, can I recommend a short video introduction? I think you might enjoy it even cooler would maybe be a reaction to the video. Here. It is since you click link. All right, man. Thank you. God bless Galant. Let's talk about the WRC the World Rally Championship the video that Gallant sent me is called. What is WRC question mark and the World Rally Championship. It's a great video. I watched it. I'll include a link below wherever if you're on YouTube, I guess and I recommend watching it if you've never heard of the World Rally Championship Game, Gallant thank you for including that in the message. It was a really fun watch. It got brought me some insight actually did. Let me to watch a couple other videos about rally rally car racing. I don't want to say that rally car racing as a whole is wildly impressive. It's such a cool sport. These drivers are undeniably talented again, the word I would use is just impressive. They're versatile. These guys are driving through a dirt. They're driving through snow. They're driving over jumps there on the edge of steep Cliffs. They're driving at night in night races. They're driving through fog. They're driving on street races rally car drivers are they deserve a lot of respect me. These are drivers that times are doing Tire changes mid-race and what another thing that's cool about rally car racing is you have two people in the car the driver and the co-driver and their relationship is really cool and fun 2550. So rally car racing in my opinion just from a Top down view is undeniably a cool thing. But I do think the rally car racing could benefit from a Netflix, you know drive to survive style documentary series, you know, I want to get to know rally car racing and I don't know how to do it very well, but I'll be honest here is the problem even if I watch a docu-series, I still don't think that it would get me to watch races, you know at best. I'm probably going to maybe someday watch Riley Curry highlights because it's entirely cool the subject the jumps the the crashes the fast-driving the there's there's cool intense brief moments in rally car racing that I go. Wow that's wild thoughts. But I'm not an inherent Motorsport fan, right? I am a I'm specifically a formula one fan because f one has a specific set of conditions. They grab my attention. Here's a rally car does not have so Riley car is a time trial. They do not have wheel-to-wheel racing. It's not really a race the same way that formula one is this is A series of time trials to me while it's very cool and very clearly impressive. It's just not as interesting to me and I'll be honest. I'm very open about this. I'm a I'm an American right bought a car in my in my world has never been something presented to me and the only Riley car driver. I'm familiar with is Ken Block can block I learned about because of Rob Dyrdek the guy who did Fantasy Factory and while that might make people mad at me and I'm sure there's a bunch of star drivers and rally car. I've never heard of but to me formula one is more acceptable and the drivers are stars. I'm invested they are teams and drivers. I am emotionally invested in Formula One. So even though I can recognize rally cars a cool sport. It's probably still not a sport. I'm ever going to follow at school. Hey, if you love it, man, dude great and I can say I'm not a big soccer fan soccer doesn't work for me but soccer doesn't even look cool to me soccer. Just never even make em, Want to watch it. I didn't want to I don't even want to watch soccer highlights rally car is cool. The idea is awesome. I want to watch highlights. It's exciting. But for me, it's it's a it's a sport. I'm never going to be invested in because there's this long weekend a bunch of time trials where in comparison F1 has one big Main Event a big race. And if you want to make Formula One your entire weekend, you can there's multiple practices to watch there's qualifying to watch but even more than Formula One rally car seems very very spread out, you know, whereas, you know, F ones focused on the main event and rally car has the whole weekend. So look, I don't hate Riley car at all. We'll talk about NASCAR in a minute. I don't care about NASCAR. It'll never grabbed my attention. I don't even want to watch Nascar highlights, but rallied car is cool rather car undeniably cool. But because there's no wheel-to-wheel driving because it's so long. It's never going to be a sport. I sit down on a Saturday and watch unless I'm really bored. I just I can never see a future where I watch them. Even though I can admit man. If you're a Laker fan I get it. It's cool. It's just not something. I want to follow right? So no hate from me. Just also no real poll or Draw or grab as well. Now Alex writes in Alex says, I know you've been covering F1 recently, but would you ever consider covering NASCAR? I mean look no offense to NASCAR. NASCAR is never going to grab my attention. Here's one thing that is important to me. Is that in my opinion? I don't know. I don't know if it's in my opinion. It's really kind of objective. Formula One cars are objectively better than NASCAR. NASCAR is objectively inferior from a performance level to form of the one right you you can't watch Nascar go around the track ends at the speeds that like you try to watch a NASCAR go around an F1 track. There's no competition. They're they're they're just not as high performance as a form of the one month and I also want to say it seems like there are so many Nascar teams. I looked it up. There are Seventeen teams in NASCAR. How many drivers do you think are driving in Nascar? I counted thirty-seven drivers 370 37 to me. That's too many and the couple times. I've jumped in and watched a NASCAR race I go. I'm overwhelmed with how many drivers there are not too long. And it's actually not very interesting to me. I just don't the big circle kind of that the the kind of long-term joke about NASCAR's. It's only left the whole time and it's not only left. I watch the race recently moved where there was like a little what do you call it? A the name is I'm drawing a blank here. There was a little turn I'm like, oh, I was a little why can't I think of the name right now? It doesn't matter. It wasn't left. The whole time is my point. But to me, it just doesn't grab my attention. It's like soccer. I'm glad people like NASCAR it just as you Kane. That's what I'm thinking. There was a little chicane in and ask ourselves god. Wow, that's that's surprising and be different than I thought and I'm glad people like NASCAR. I really am if you love it all the power to you. There's a great I've seen a great YouTuber. I forget the name like NASCAR is not so bad. I'll never watch YouTube video about it. NASCAR is interesting enough where there's some YouTubers. I forget the name of them right now. I think it's called black flags. Something easy is a great YouTuber. He does great videos wage. And I've watched a couple of those videos, but I'm never going to sit down and watch a really long NASCAR race cuz to me, it doesn't grab my attention. It's it's interesting Sports in general are my passion. So I'll watch a documentary watch a NASCAR documentary, but I'm never going to sit down and watch a NASCAR race, and I probably am very rarely going to sit down to watch a soccer game because while I'm glad people liked it, I just know my limitations and then know that NASCAR and soccer are just really not for me get the final question of the day comes from Liam Liam writes in he says hey Zach, f one question for you here who would be your driver of the year so far Hamilton to see obvious option probably the best driver of all time in my opinion and in the basically Mercedes, however, I think three other drivers could have an argument for different reasons. The first is Max verstappen who I view as the best pure racer out there on Sundays. His overtaking ability is pretty much unmatched and there has been has been incredibly dead. Consistent all year second of my opinion is Charles LeClaire in the Ferrari that car has been an absolute disaster this year and the team has fallen from the into the best of the rest category. However, the clarity just a few podiums against the faster teams Mercedes Aston Martin Red Bull and arguably McLaren to and finally wrenched Lance stroll has been brilliant in the racing point and I know you're a fan of his interested to hear your thoughts show Liam in the UK. I want to start by saying that Lewis Hamilton is undeniably talented. He does not get the respect. He deserves with Mercedes people give all the credit to that car and Lewis. It's a great driver that that just cannot be forgotten in form of the one how talented of a truck driver. Lewis Hamilton is if you switch Lewis Hamilton a maxxforce a band Max verstappen would dominate the same way Lewis Hamilton would in my opinion but the same way Max verstappen his constantly pushing Lewis Hamilton if they switch positions Lewis Hamilton would be constantly pushing Max verstappen with a Red Bull car now, surely Claire and Max are both pushing their Founders to the Limit. That's an important thing for a driver to do. I mean Knox Force happen in my opinion is my favorite driver in Formula One, but also the difference between Max verstappen and shower Le Claire is that Max verstappen is a bit more developed in his talent and wisdom with a car. We saw the earlier the max verstappen where he was crashing and doing Reckless stuff and he seemed to have gotten it out of his system and been really really consistent this year. And I want people to remember the moment in the steering Grand Prix where Charlotte Claire took himself out of the race like the first lap he drove inside on his team-mate Sebastian Vettel tried to go three-wide. It was a real place. Just a dumb overly aggressive move. That was a poor risk to take and it showed a bit of immaturity from Charlotte Clark as a driver. We're okay. We still need to see a little bit more development from Charles LeClaire. Now, he really put it all together in the second race and silverson the 7th anniversary of Grand Prix where I see. Wow. Okay Charles Le Claire is getting better. He's developing and the next year you might be as consistent. Maybe as max Prestige is this year? So the Clara still developing attic Max or stabbings a better driver both are great in my opinion the driver of the year because of the way he's consistently just thought I mean, he's really outperforming his car in the Red Bull Max verstappen is pushing his car to the Limit every single week to me. That's the driver of the year. I would not even consider Lance stroll in the racing point. It's kind of weird like with Liam. You said I'm a fan of Lance stroll. I'm really not I don't have a big affinity for Lance stroll. I think he's actually underperforming his car. I don't think Lance stroll has been some crazy. I'm on this year and I want to do also say so my driver the air is Max for stamp and so far in my opinion. But driver of the year is kind of like MVP or most valuable player in the NFL or the NBA. It's all opinion based. Do you have your own, you know driver the year? I have my own driver the Year. Everybody has their own choice really know where you can measure that and so I think it's all kind of silly. It's a fun conversation to have because everyone has their own and it's fun to hear your opinion and my opinion we can compare them and talk about where we all thought I but at the end of the day driver of the year is just as silly a conversation as a most valuable player is in other sports, and so well, it's a fun conversation. It's also not a very important not a very helpful conversation because again it all comes down to your opinion versus mind guys. My name is X onlar. Thank you so very much for tuning in. I talked about Formula One and racing wage a lot longer this this I thought this was going to be a 20-minute episode. We went for a much longer time than I would have. Thought. Thank you so very much for tuning in. I hope you have a great day. I'll see you tomorrow. Probably tomorrow around noon. June we'll talk about the NBA. Hope you're doing well, but I'm bum bam we are done.

The Greatest F1 Team - Team Principal

"The greatest one team. Hello and welcome to the final part of what is being a very special seven We've attempted to answer the question. What with the lineup of the greatest F. One team look like from Race Engineer. Team principal lead to lead drive at chief designer and even the ready coveted number. Two driver's fault we've set out to build an F one team made of the best that has ever been. Iron House panel made up all of our F. One experts from across the globe have all pick individuals throughout history. That they believe are the greatest of all time and in this series. We've been discussing the careers under winus of the individuals that have made it into the top three for each joke role. I'm jess highest. And today I am joined by James Allen John Noble then Anderson and Rebecca could so I reckon everyone but want to be a team principal given the past anelle disposal but what does the ideal candidate need to be good at? What makes a great team? Principal STANDOUT OVER. The key thing is just being all areas. You can't just be strong in one area. Econ speak to get in the sponsors in. Just be good at managing the drivers. You conscious be good at dealing with the politics you need to be there across all areas and keep things under control And I think all our a top three team principles all delivered this their most accessible peaks of their careers They've will lead from the front stood out in the crowds and they've all proved to be moss strike in winning championships. It's unbelievably difficult to win in formula needing to win World Championship. It's been when multiple world championships is. All three of our finalists of dom is odd. Takes an awful lot of them because it's like it's like a bar soap. It's always on the move. He's just keeping hold things in an someone wants to lead. This wants more money in that drive to keep a winning team together is really hard and then to motivate them to win again and again and again even though it might look easy for me. Outsca IDAHO YOU know. These teams winning multiple Welsh Car Course Are But just having the best just having the best drive of getting to that? Point is unbelievably difficult. So I think that's why it's been good that you've signed this to the last of the series early. Because this is the ultimate row because Ev Fountain at everything comes from the team principal younger I team principal. Younger right designer. The right drivers in anybody people don't want the team with the right team principally they on the the team so it's it's fundamentally important massively difficult to do. Well let's look at the passing. We find in third place as voted by our panel of experts from around the world. And it's going to be one of the most iconic names in Formula One. That still carries his name to this day. That's of course Steph. Frank Williams who founded the team his own team in nineteen seventy seven and was celebrating the first win two years later at remarkably US drivers and constructors well championship in nineteen eighty. And they want to be the last of his winds. He really is emerges sport legend. Isn't he yeah he's He's lost of the MOHICANS. The among our our shortlist echoes. If Chapman far came before oversee he competed against a guy who's founded a team from nothing. I started by entering customer. 'cause then decided to strike as a constructor. He was much derided early on in his team cooling wanker Williams but he pressed on forced amazing partnership with Patrick Head. That team to the very a. You could argue that you know as time has gone on. Williams's obviously declined incredible success Through the nineties recapture the glory as with BMW in the two thousands maybe some strategic decisions when against them. I should frank given up more control to allow seem to modernize but you have to hand. It in. His team is still going and night. Chapman's tain latest STA- declined in his later years Ferrari. Before his death they went going through the best of times. It's very hard to stay on top as change saying earlier even to get to. The top is extraordinarily difficult site. You have to hand Frank Williams. He's probably not the guy you'd you would want running on modern great steph form team considering that Williams has been in decline for a while now and they have won a race in two twenty twelve. And we've only won one since two thousand and four but nevertheless the legend Formula One. Somebody that we should definitely acknowledge that Frank Williams is not only a fantastic principle. Listen example of the termination because Rennie stocked to follow his dream. E was not a very good condition. E E bill this team from the ground so it was not easy to start so yes to do a lot of problems because was not easy especially the first couple of years but the way you build the so big company into mortal sports fighting with the big factor because of course they time also providing wasn't while the doctor will feature was is an example of patient. When you when you're really believe in something and you spend all your entire life to follow your dream. Sometimes you sacrifice everything our new also there that the human relationship because you out totally folk who said when your target for me. This is an example for a lot of people and I think now is more difficult to find the person that every time is ready to risk himself everything just because he want to to to see his dream realized in the sporting the target that the achieve was absolute Testing I think the number of people might be a little surprised. That is not wrong. Dennis rather than Frank Williams. I think it's seems class finding the balanced decision of this wide level. Our F when experts from across the world. But I think for me what makes Frank Stand up a Ron? Dennis is one of the points That which is he used. Determination outside apples that resilience solvency coming back from his nineteen ninety-six road accident to then. How will the success to be had but I think it also speaks about the way that he built a team. In how empowered the team around it mentioned actors fundamentally Off of the success of Williams. I always used to say Ron. Dennis was the best and worst thing about McLaren because we such a big personality. Sat Dad. You couldn't really get away from that wears with Frank Williams. It's I think the fact that he was sort of Sorrento had multiple phases of success which which is difficult every extended period of time but those are the fact that people have bathroom empowered and he's organizations than they were in Rome. Dennis is in my is why he made the two thousand three and runs Frank won't be running on pavement. Fortunately and nor will the current FAA president. John Todd now. Obviously Ferrari has always been a high pressure environment and that hasn't always lead to success and before taught became team. Principal Ferrari had gone eleven years without a constructors title and fifteen. Without a driver's he built the team that would go wants dominate the early two thousands. Just how did he turn that around? These friars ruled viewed as united. The Shoemaker Gloria's and brilliant job Michael Jordan but actually it was all the results of what Jonathan to turn for around scared of the old. Furry mentality come into this. New reactive racing team wasn't straight straightaway didn't come easily difficult early years trying to turn things around and get them going but once he hit his stride once they got but Dream Team's cover of Schumacher Ross brawn. Rory Byrne John Todd you know they pushed on and paradorn an a brilliant brilliant era Formula One and three John was a brilliant team principal roofless times unpopular times but three all is number one focus winning And the end of the day is your drop as team principal. The number one responsibility is victory. The rebuild challenge that John Leads to. Diaries is not to be underestimated when he went that they didn't have a gearbox departments in. Marinella informant while it was in Surrey so I mean there was so much work to do. I'm in bed. I was watching biography. Michael Schumacher. John gave me a lot of a lot of times and he was sort shining around it that before. He got that if you like. And he said it was like kind of creaking old building that has some wonderful architectural features but basically ahead interiors just needed to be completely refurbished and essentially what he did Starting just after his his run of success. Excuse me with pleasure and building the team up for MEG. And then putting the right pieces in place obviously Michael Schumacher was a fundamental Came along in nineteen ninety six and then Ross Brune in nineteen ninety seven alert. They added some extra personalities. That was Kinda cool about team. The way they operate it was on a Fair so the principal figures. Todd ruin the shoe Mecca Montanelli but none of the wanted to let the other one down and it was just this e credibly intense so to grew a leadership group. The top of which Schumacher was definitely off the meant that they will always always always striving for that extra few percent occasionally them across the line carries neither. Do some things that were not particularly popular. Whether it's t motors decisions. Some strange stuff. Lighten Black Flags and so to get out in the steward's removed was kind of thing but they will absolutely bang up against the limit of what was what was permissible de. Never wanted to let each other down. I think that's what made that team. So so unbeatable. I think that quarry that are two points that might be of the coupons for the success of jumped out the first one that he was able to choose the right people and When each as you said the sproul cash market Audebert that that was very top-class in slow the second one is that e the responsibility over everything in Maranello that was a big risk because in case of bad result of course he was the first one that still be fired but he said I am the team principal. I am the boss and the everybody must follow Meyer. That is not easy. Ferrari because there are a lot of politics in the history and it's a very crucial I think that the is the only way to run properly for if you want to run property you bus heads. The complete control of the debt was John. Paul was able to have it to able to establish a new culture a long established team which is extraordinarily difficult to do especially when that team has gone through a long period of failure in an underachievement. I think he can make a really really strong case for being the number one choice for fifteen principles ferry very close. Run thing A great hit rate was almost a hundred wins. I think in fourteen seasons there you know he set the template radio think for being a modern team principal in charge of a monolithic organisation hundreds of people disparate departments. Trying to bring together while dating with politics an issue in the final reckoning. Hold against him the fact that he's in charge of Ferrari to have special standing within the school had a veto with the rose. Will these kinds of things and of course when route changes did come up to threaten Ferrari's again? The the two thousand point they did they did struggle and didn't quite recapture their their former glory. So he couldn't. He couldn't renew the team really having established that dominant runways she mecca at Towel. But nevertheless you make radio strong case for I think if you WANNA join analyze what is specialty was Roberto saying. I think it's that commitment Incentive was was sort of the ultimate example of commitment is a racing driver things. The same is true with talk to whoever is working for whatever badges got on his shirt whether or whether it's Ferrari whether it cepheid today would go through a brick wall so that organization. He wasn't the owner Frank. Williams was the name of the. He was always an employee but he was employee listening. Would go through a brick wall to achieve what he wanted to achieve him. That's what made specialist team principal. But that's not quite enough to lead our team because our team principal is actually betted towards run of five consecutive drivers and constructors titles. And of course we're talking about a satin. Mr Toto Wolff Mercedes is now one the past six championship doubles anti-thai Wolf has been the man seeing all and a k. the team took advantage of the new power unit. Regulation twenty fourteen but through all the rule changes since then nobody can seemingly managed to end the run. So what makes wolf just so don good? I think it's the way the way the championships have on from each other. New Challenges overcome all the time when when the titles one in two thousand fourteen People put it down. Oh the best engineers by far the best. This is why they wanNA talk little bit. As the years went on as the rules were changed. Is the challenges. Came up of drivers of new era rules as just got better and better and better organization No complacency Taito management style has allow people to flourish Kept the team very very consistent and the best people And I think those those qualities ability to harness people. He's got much in the right way. get a very unified team. Is I think just put some above the rest right now. What surprised me a lot. Is that Mercedes? Looks like a magic box. I mean game sale is on was fired by Ratty Andy Mercedes is doing from dusty job. The same had been sweet out. Costar was the Cincinnati fighting by fanatic. And then he must see does he. Different dusty jump. What surprised me. A lot is the relationship incitement. Cdc's disease from Iran lease ward where people is constantly and oppression. But I think don't talk. Create the system that the for me. It's difficult for space difficult to understand. But he create a system where the people is the condition to give this one hundred percent. We doubt politics and without stress. That is something that consent you to reduce New People into the place people but we know effect in the result is not one main show e create. The system that for me is the best quality at the best part of the job. That thought did the last ten years. He's got this line. I don't know how to design Surface but I know everything about the guy who does. I think that's exactly right. He goes back to what Ben was saying on about culture of see told had to come into Ferrari adapt a longstanding coach to be what he wanted it to be sort of an iron fist whereas with toto obviously Ross Perot lovely establishing work building up that team from bridging from home. A broom into early diocese. But what hotel did and when you get a chance to cover these service. Cd's and talked to him about it. He's April combination about modern psychology German military tactics and all sorts of other things together into this management style. Whether is a no fare coach? You know they don't blame the person. They blamed the problem that the nonsense that everything an everything that they do. They just do it better than everybody else. Now if you look at times in how he's aged how he's gone over the last six or seven years it's taken a lot out to them and that's why it's interesting at the moment to see what he's going to do next and how much longer he'll carry on doing this full. Because he's obviously ultra high achiever. But what else does he got left. What else do ambitions contain an? I'm fascinated to see that I think it was very close between him and solve this crisis referencing principle but just the creation the shit depths of of culture. I think he think the only criticism you could probably level types of is that this thing that James Lead to that. He kind of inherited the team in a way that taught didn't up that sent. He also supercharged. Mercedes through the hybrid arena. He's made much more of what is there. He's created this culture as we said of FEHB also have accountability so every employee there is is able to express how they feel about how things are going without fear or favor and they can attack legs. Problems unimproved the fact. They've been able to sustain they rom. Three to significant rule changes over the last few years may not that some precedents is far as we can see and his hit rate of success beyond the fact that he's got the stakes and six compared to five and five. Mercedes one something like ninety two races in seven years with taught at the helm you know. That's that compares to talk winning a ninety nine fourteen years so incredibly efficient in terms of winning and he'll say manages it with the other things you know he's he's good on the politics He's a good front man for the tape. He manages the commercial side. He started that team in a way that makes it not too depending on the parent company. Daimler I it. Sustainability and another key thing is that he's been able to get the most out of historic driver Lewis. Hamilton Lewis is better bathroom better with Taito at the Hellman. Lewis speaks really highly of title. As does James Allison him as the best boss. They've had in foam and that speaks volumes. The other thing about wolf is that he doesn't have a background. As a manager he was an investor many was sheldon Williams. He got the opportunity to become a manager Obviously he's had to his management style in the job from the get-go winning world championships where we'll see John had many many years Managing Persia teams etc etc. Before that and I think that's the most remarkable thing about about such a wolf is he. He told himself to become manager literally whilst winning his also had varied experiences dealing with different types of Dr Relationships. You know you've had the the equal number ones of Rosberg and Louis where you're trying to control to drive coming through championship. Who are totally loggerheads? We each other dealt with the controversies. The Monaco Escape Road Instagram Nikko. The Spanish Grand Prix in two thousand sixteen when the Pack Alighted Subsequent Collisions. He's dealt with a lot but he's also managed to utilize the arrival of protests. The facts made Lewis a bit more comfortable and rather than allowing Louis to back off against your comfort zone and not be a strong. He's actually used it in a way of getting more of Louis had that long winter chat entitles kitchen where they went through their relationship while they fought each other is lifted. Lewis to a new high. And I don't think we've seen Louis better than he is right now if we could put it down to one thing or is it simply a the fact that he seems to hold many skills. But I'm really interested to know if you have to pick one aspect of titleist pass or management style that puts him head and shoulders above the rest. What would that one element Bay is apply colleges? He knows perfectly out to approach the people in a different way and that is a very good quality especially run would have to to what a lot of people every people is different than Eat knows how to approach everything. The best where everybody in the best way and a the same time and other big quality. I think he's able to predict the future so he I think at the moment is the best team brings Because E is able to know before all the rest of the field what is GonNa Happen? This is not a very good quality. For increase to human psychology side. It comes to most of having significant intellectual. He's very very bright like any. He's never satisfied with anything. He's always trying to learn some more senior situations where he's drilling able for information about how they manage this situation. You know the people from op spend time with him. Brian for the event ones the boss of the cycling this one older Toda Francis and he was drilling in for information about how keeps the team on the bubble in always ready to go again so the next year? So the phones. So it's just that relentlessness I think is wall marks out any great in our sport whether you're a driver or MSCI mechanic aura. A Race Engineer. You have to always be seeking mall. They have to always be relented to see looking to improve yourself and everybody around you and I think that's that's that's what it is within. Yeah he says that same trait with Lewis. Hamilton is easy. Well it can happen when you on top you can get complacent Could back-off Jomo talking about this earlier. As well with Ross wig out with the team suddenly off to twenty sixteen Louis could have Perhaps but Louis stays on it. He keeps trying to get better chases as he describes it ghost 'cause when he's out on track and I think Taito is of a similar stock you know he's he's never satisfied even when they winning. He's always looking to improve looking to stay on top and cross the opposition. Is that relentlessness? James said stands in my car and it seems all winners up pretty pleased that they've been placed in the positions on our greatest f one team because once again. We have a message from the winner. Let's take it across to missed a tie wolf. Hi everybody trusted afford. I would like to say thank you to the Motorsport Network. Journalists that have participated in the voting and I must say very Hambo to have been elected the best team principal. When when? I'm looking at all those names Giant and particularly Frank Williams they role models for me shrinks Stamina Andrews. Zillions is incredible and I was able to blog and watch from him was at Williams at the end of the day. We old just figureheads for the team. Every single individual in the team deserves that credit. And this is why I would like to pass on this award. This prize to everybody within Macedo. Swiss had to make races and titles. I'm also very happy to see. Many of my teammates haven't been elected in the top three on medals and bundle to guys who Trends WITH RUSSIA. Very very strong bond as well as royals who have been the Johnny and and of course Lewis who has won the type based tribal as you know Lewis and I are very very close and seeing income out on top so we won the team principal. We've on the driver is great. So thank you very much and again you know the strength of the pack so this is a price for all of US federal budget. Thank you again for the. But I think it's safe to say that our team is in rather good hands and he completes our lineup so we now have paid Bonington. As Race Engineer Adrian newly as chief Designer Stefan Melancholy as sporting director Ross brawn as technical director Sustaining Moss as number two driver Lewis Hamilton. Taking the lead as on the one driver and of course we've talked it all off today with title Wolf as team principal. Good look stopping that lot. I think is safe to say but do you think you could put together a better team than our panel of Global F one experts. That is know your lineup in the comments. The Whip - Wheres Darryl?!

"Hey everybody welcome to. Let's get difficult. This is the podcast breaks down politics government structure and dives into the context of current events. But in a Super Fun way away I'm lizzy Stewart comedian feminist and political junkie. And I'm Ardenne Wall and Hausky former Senate intern campaign staffer and political strategists. In this episode. We are talking about the job Bob of the whip so. Gather Your Corum and let's get cynical. Yeah hairy what. God is so aggressive. And that's going from me the evaluated for three to one. I had to bite the marathoners to get here. I am very excited. We are recording. When is what is it the Brooklyn Marathon New York marathon? The it is the marathon. Well this weirdly is not a podcast about The New York Marathon now at this is let's get typical I'm lizzy Stewart and I'm arden. Wallin Hausky and today we have a super duper special. We have Anita Flora's on the show. Today who is a comedian and podcast or who hosts sts. I'm listening afraid your podcast which is also available on the more banana network. Uh coincidence like family. I love it. It's like like on and this is our first time meeting IT IS I. I mean I think it's going well really well and I feel very good so great I love it. Let's get into. Let's get into the nitty gritty stuff. That people want to talk about which is we're talking today about the job of the party? Who Up up the whip a Web whippet? We're good yard. No I'm going to edit that sound down doc. Sometimes I'm like editing and I see like the sound waves and then you just see like a big spike and I'm like Matt's me coming up. That's all lizzy right there. So funny so yes Anita. Do you know anything about the whip coming into this. Have you ever heard of it. Have you ever thought about it. I've heard the the word the In this context just in the context upshaw. I've heard it both ways. I will say I know more about the whip the other one I've heard about route and I feel as if I've been to embarrassed at this age to ask any questions which is silly if anything now is the time to be learning and acting quaestor Sir and. That's why I'm so glad I'm here. You're here so no I. I could definitely a I should be more educated on on the women. No No. There's no should serve in our system of education that has set you up to know about the job of an honestly like I. I went to public school and when I think about how much time I spend spend in school learning about American politics. It was not a lot no like I took an American I took a political science class Sophomore Year of college. and that is the last exposure Grad. I had an educational place. I love that I love that we welcome you with open arms you so much research. There's no reason to be embarrassed. You know who should be embarrassed the whips or the whip is like an actual purse sir. It's an it's an actual. They would say hello. I am the whip I yes but okay I am I am the whip. There are multiple. LEWITT's okay so it's not just one person's job there are multiple APPS and then they had like people under them were like deputy whip right whatever so so then with those people like like depending on what whip you are you take. I'm deputy whip or I'm whip or I'm a whip. How would you? How would that person introduce? You would say like if you're in the majority you would say like I'm the majority whip okay If you're in the majority in the House of the Senate and there's the minority whip like hierarchy APPs. It's it's not what I'm thinking which is like I'm whip. Oh you're whip I'm with your whip your we're we're all whips. Yeah everybody in. This room is what the word whip no longer has meaning done. It's done more. Whip congratulations. We have five whips in here right now. So let's start with general whip stuff. How England's just wet are whistle with the whip on? Like what are you doing. I duNNo. She's helping me because you know what the kind of whip. I'm familiar with so by making the noise. I'm trying to landing plane. Obviously it was so subconscious. I really don't know why now I was. Just I was trying to start the episode. And you're over here making sounds like I can't. I can't do it if you're going to be over here doing the sound effects taking your job. Okay so let's start. Let's her oh man in the seventeen hundreds. Are you ready to go back ask so this is from mostly Senate Dot Gov crs and Christopher beam at slate so party whips. Were first I used in the British House of Commons in the seventeen hundreds. They were named after the quote whipper in the person on on a Fox hunt responsible for keeping the dogs focused. I wish sometimes I wish we were recording video because watch that sink into your offense was very remark I I I have a lot of questions and I had the first one should be about the whip itself. But I'm thinking how do you keep the dogs focus right right sure. I think that's like part of it right like maybe it's a commanding presence right. Maybe I mean also these are very well trained dogs right. I mean I've never been on a Fox Hunt. I think it's very bad but you eat the bucks I'm getting I'm definitely always news for coasts for it's for further arise and creating a head thing for sure. Yeah those Fox head things like Revlon Oleg. What like the Russians do like around the? Oh Oh you're the head of the fall out of the thought you're like using there for to make a head piece. Oh No but you do that. I guess they walk like they went amount What's it called? Oh where you stuff them taxidermy. I love it producer. Kate is just like my stage mom. She's always whispering tax now. You're thinking that smile posture posture. Let's see it's amazing. It is I was thinking of taxidermy yet but yeah so the person on the Fox hunt was called whipper in yet. 'cause they kept dogs focus and so the British House of Commons was like okay. Great we all all do Fox hunts and we all know this position and I'd seems like some people are getting out of line. So why don't we create a position like this to keep our dogs focused. It's like they're literally referring to themselves as dogs. Yes hilarious spending breath and then of course we you you dot S. dot have never had an original thought in our life. So we're like that sounds trait. We don't Fox. There's a Fox here. Let's just do it though was do it. So that's that's our like origins this term. I love it Congress yes. I started using whips in eighteen ninety seven when the quote Republican Speaker of the House appointed the first whip Democrats followed suit in eighteen ninety nine and Democrats named their first official whip in nineteen thirteen and Senate Republicans in Nineteen Fifteen. I loved it it. It didn't happen at the same time. No no no. It's like a domino effect. There like the house appointed somebody in than the Democrats are like. That's a really good too. And then the Senate years later was like That's a really good idea. They're doing that we should do that. Yeah yeah so there's like Each party has one in each chamber of the House. So there's four in total four major top top allied would be like. Hey I'm whip. I have a question. Grab all right. Okay are there any rules like in terms of keeping the dogs in check people. Yes are there any things that anything's on the table in terms of what they are allowed to do to keep people in check like how. How like because with dogs? It's giving them foods so what are we. What am I doing? Feed them. Well that's GONNA come etel. According to our Christopher Beam it's late there are three stages of whipping okay and we will talk. I want I'm ready but first we will talk about well a little bit more. General whip stuff so continuing on Republican and Democratic Party whips are elected by each party caucus at meetings at the the start of each new Congress. New remember the Brouhaha over sweet. Nancy Nancy Pelosi is so in the meetings were they have or they decide who's going to be the leaders of their party for the next coming session of Congress. That's where they make these decisions about who's GonNa be who's going to be majority leader. Who's going to be speaker? Yeah they happen in two years. Yeah started and there's a lot of for each party caucus which just means each party right. Some of them are elected positions and some of them. You just gotTa pointed like the the whip is actually an elected position so they the whole Democratic Party caucus and the house or the Senate respectively will vote for their candidate. They should be weapon. It's like a big. If feels like sue the body it's very slim body. Israeli like interp-. Inner Party politics like you're you're gonNA run against me and like that's like you know it becomes the alliances start to form. It's very student government. It's very soon government. You'd like make your like speeches over the announcement. Mun School would have been so much more fun. If I could have just pretended that I was on a podcast version. Get so bored like the fact that that you're talking directly to me. If I'm being fully honest like I feel like I know way too much about things that are related to pop culture. I understood spend enough time. Educating myself on on politics in this country and so it's very nice to be directly spoken to obamacare thing as opposed to when you're like in a classroom not that I'm saying we need to change change. Everything got rid of classrooms but apple the jury but it's just I just remember being in class and knowing all of us knowing knowing they couldn't look at all one teacher look at all the time and that's when you start drifting. Yeah Yeah but anyway. We're learning and see right. Yes I know a lot more about Nancy now. Keeping moving on with the whip each majority and minority whip heads and extensive whip network comprised of party loyalist. I love the idea of a whip network. I save more. Banana is a whip network Vir- sure Hersher UH each party selects at least one chief deputy whip and a number of deputy and other whips that's like the hierarchy of like like though it chief deputy whip and then a ton of other ladies love that the job of the whips is to maintain communication between between the leadership of the Party and its members Marshall Support for party positions on the floor count votes on key legislation and persuade wavering members to vote for the Party position so this is where it's like Anita. You're wavering what's it GonNa take what you need you WanNa. You need some support word on this bill. You're working on I can get you that or it's it's literally doing math. I have images like the sub deputies with like what's it called an APP Abacus Abbas advocacy advocates. Being would to three on account up like like because especially in the Senate. It's a lot easier but you got four hundred plus members in the house. Yeah that's a lot of a big abacus. You would need. Yeah you got a a lot of offices. I can't Daryl. What's he didn't send an email back in the day you're like huffing and puffing and around the capital being like Islam once seen Daryl I need to get his vote people scoot around and because there's so many people as an actual scooter her I if there's an underground like subway system for a members of Congress to take from like their offices to the capitol? Yeah we meet people. I don't think Cleveland's get to go on but a play begins like a peasant common person. Oh like US yes. Everybody five five premiums in this room five whips the positions of the majority and minority leaders and the speaker all Paul ranked above the whip. We'll talk about the rankings of all of like the people with titles within the House and the Senate on a later episode entered Houston. Write that down. So we don't forget shutouts in Houston who literally has to religion to all of our episodes and be like okay. You said you wanted to do an episode about this this and we're like that because I just I just spout out that we're doing episodes on things and you don't forget so speaker. Nancy is above the whip in the house. Sir and Mitch McConnell is above the whip in the Senate not every vote gets whipped. Sorry that's really. It's a really funny phrase if if Party leadership's knows that the bill is gonNA pass easily. They're not GONNA go like we're not GonNa Find Daryl if we know that we have like a three hundred plus members voting for Bill Right. We don't need account chat with Darryl is but if it's like I guess in the Senate for sure this happens a lot now or if I assume if you're the Republican whip your all your counting every vote every time yes yes you're like where is Darryl and I'm GonNa make sure his you know three votes in right. They don't get it so they only a whip might only count the votes they need. Is that yes. They're only counting the votes that they and their only them for their party. Unless you're talking about like the of a close vote that could be something. Bipartisan like. Like if you think about the brick cavern on nomination like there were there were talking about Republicans who are going to maybe cross over and vote against him in that case. I don't know like actually having the Democratic whip. Go Talk to that person's probably not a great idea. Yeah you don't WanNa do that because you don't want to be seen like crossing the other side. They wanted to make the choice on their own. But you would yeah like yeah. They don't however vote but they'll count the votes in their party if it's going to be closed and they want it to pass And right now I mean especially in the house. The House has such a a big majority that I don't imagine that the Democratic whip is having to do with tons of stuff except probably for the impeachment before it was voted on on you before. Nancy brought it to the floor. I think there was a lot of whipping that happened to get as many members as they did to go. I mean it was all but two about for for impeachment to move forward to grant to three to the three stages for this three stages give it to me the three stages of whipping again and from Christopher beam. It's late the most basic one is just as simple headcount. I H. They're all narrow. What say you? It's when win. The whips staffers. So the people who work for the whip call the other members of the party or they go visit them somehow they get in touch with them in their staff and they basically say like. How are you voting on this? Can you imagine when this was done by. Like let her carrier pigeon when you had to like right on on paper and I mail it to some or like you know because it back in eighteen lava when this all started we it's not like they could call no if 'cause like imagine they weren't in town then we have to send a letter or like I'm just saying we've been I feel like it's a lot easier a lot easier like a whip slack channel. Well Yeah I mean. There has to be Lakers chat. Yeah I doubt it. That's run by some poor intern. Turn his not paid being like. I don't know nobody wants to vote. I can't find Darryl. He's gone I'd much rather make a lar- I mean again. The this is why I'm not in politics but for me. Just make a a big google calendar. Invite love that you know all you have to do is confirm or not. Yeah it yeah. It's that simple. WanNa go work for the way I think Jake. I think they'd take it. Yeah I mean and that's basically what you're talking about is a form of just a simple headcount headcount like yes or no. Where are you standing? If the vote is close the whip move moves into the second stage of whipping I hate this. Raise the second siege of whipping Where members of the whip team go to the people who are sitting on the fence and they hear about their concern? So if it's like thank you know. Okay this is the this is the bill about like. It's the green new deal and people are like okay. I'm really on the fence about this. Like I get what it's doing like it's good for the environment. I Have Beasley concerns about how we're GonNa pay for things though whip team will go and be like okay. What let's talk about your concerns? Let's talk them through. And sometimes they'll say they might change things within that bill to make it more palatable for the people who are sitting on the fence or like Lizzie set before they might give them support on a different type of Una totally a different bill in exchange for their support on that bill. So it's got the show. Yes everything. The documentary showed I haven't seen the west wing by the way now is a sci-fi fantasy because yeah I mean yeah because you watch and you're like Oh my God. What they do is amazing? Like it's so much integrity Michael Sheen as the President Soga Martin Sheen what I might be. Sorry shots Michael Sheen Gene. Sorry Martin Jean Marsh and I have watched the last night as the president is amazing star. Good Allison Janney. We don't deserve now. She plays the press secretary. Jay I mean incredible but yeah you watch like what's you compare it to what's going on now. It's it's a Sifi at the world that does no longer exists. Just just like all right you remember when people had integrity so that's the second stage of whipping the third and final whipping stage usually happens the day before the vote and now it often happens just like on the floor of the day of. There's a lot of Lake if you watch it happen live on like MSNBC or wherever you get your news. They're literally like the people are going in and out of these chamber doors. The staffers are running like it's happening in the moment. And then there's a big news been you know one of the anchor. Reporters will be like they've just pulled so and so into the chamber room and data added the Don we think that so and so is in there too and like you're supposed to put together the piece of information like they're talking to this senator this person because they want them to switch their vote. Yeah I distinctly distinctly when the Senate was voting. It was something about the health care bill but they did it at like midnight. I am and that's when John McCain famously came in unlike gave a thumbs up and then thumbs down to vote no which effectively killed. They were to repeal. It was like to repeal obamacare without anything to put it put in place wastes. Yeah and and so but it was that same thing of like. There's everybody on the floor. People are frantic and then John McCain's just like nope and then it's done like the commentators are freaking added. It's like one in the morning as Mitch McConnell's freak and it's It's pretty wild when they're trying to do it in real time. So the third and final thing a final whipping sage happens like the day before. Actually the day of the vote now can happen when the team members they like divided up. Who's going to talk to? WHO and they go and they talk to them like on the floor or in the chamber rooms just like what can you say that's GonNa make me vote like switch my vote? You know what I mean. Well that's the part that I'm a little confused about is. What is the line between like keeping people in line like riding them? I don't I mean it's not I wouldn't call visit bribing I don't know I guess I never s he's like nodding your head. Yes uses like yours. It's bribing both right. It's it's like back. It's it's whipping. The votes by using whatever means necessary enough. Bribery is a part of me. Candy me judged bribes a senator one. A chocolate kept literally me. I'd be like a glass of red wine. Here you Again I couldn't tabulate. Of course yes yes that'd be thrown out all the time. I would never make it through a full session of anything without acting up and lashing out. I know I can barely make it through episode at this jazz about having up but yeah I I mean I think it's that's politics right. It's being like what can I do to gain the game. It it is again. It is a game. Yeah Yeah I know more than you think you. I think I could play the game. I think could at talking to people about just like stuff that doesn't matter. Yeah I and then throw in at the end the vote after we have like a great conversation. Ra well come on what do you what do you think we had a great great out of wine. Some candy you've got my vote. That's how I would do a good conversation. Probably exactly how it happened to their humanity. You know no yep. Hey I'm a person you're a person I mean. I should mention that. Feel like I'm not doing a good job of printing. which which is I also have a video producing background so I actually was a video producer for Democratic Super Pac man? I had a great time. I it was one of the best jobs. What's that I've ever had? And it was like that job They purposely wanted to bring young people in that. Were on the other side like me. Who can bring in this this idea of like? Oh a lot of stuff is boring to me so one would make me want to watch this. This was for the two thousand eighteen election so like my job was was like writing coming up with ideas for like motivating people to vote. That's how I feel like well. You know I'm just throwing this in so people know like I care you still okay so figuring out the detail knowing about whips and stuff right but many people right. We're totally care about what's going on right now but I don't understand and what's happening short as you are never given the opportunity to understand. It's like the the process and everything exists for us to not understand. That's why corrupt erupt. People and bad things happen is because it. There's a disconnect right and the lack of education actually gives people power who should necessarily have it. So that's why we're we're here right. It's like it's totally okay. And it's good to care and you can't be an ex an expert on everything right not like there are things that we've talked about on this. PODCAST I I had no idea about try to learn. We try to learn because you always you have a kind of a basic understanding a want to know like a want to know more more and put the pieces together. That's more than half the battle. Yeah there's only so much information you just import yeah. Portland is important or mathematics. Matic's that's fine. You don't need to be the person who has to count the vote you would make guy. Darrell Darrell no one. No one wants is that job not darryl doesn't want to be Gone Daryl's gone. He's not coming back he left. She's gone packed a suitcase in the middle of the night. And he he left Darrell but all that to say yeah as long as you're curious and you WANNA know more. I'm curious have a sense of imagination. Do I am now picturing during various whips on different scooters. Yeah Yeah and honestly your podcast and be like Oh my God. I'm going to get him. Scooter Sir. I'M GONNA get my boss Scooter. I will try if I were trying to get that many people to tell me. Are they going to swing this way. I'm trying to think of the simplest thing you could do. Maybe a tweet now like this. If you don't like this tweet I'm not counting your vote. That's yeah that's how I would do it. Honestly work not far off from that door for sure. You're sure Yeah Yup Yup Yup so when the whip team members are doing their thing and whipping the vote for a piece of legislation. They want to get as honest. A response from the people that are talking to as they can. Don't lie to me right because they don't like if you say you're going to vote for the the thing then you don't. Yeah it's a big deal. That's a big deal. If you switch your vote so they want to be. They want to get the best information that they can't without being ham handed about it. which goes to your point? Blake I like. Are they going to dinner and like have a glass of wine so happy the nats one. How are you voting on this bill like that? They don't WanNa be ham handed about it. They they want to you know so they often will go to they try and do you do that. Chummy chummy on the floor. What's that GONNA make? What about? Yeah what about this. What do you want this bill crazy right? Thanks a lot so they try and do it. Really kind of informally whipping Novo is especially hard because people don't want to admit that they're not going to vote with the leadership So it's hard sometimes initially now especially now. Yeah Yeah So. In that case would somebody WanNa try to avoid the whip and then make it all the awaited the day of the vote and then Bono I keep saying like I don't know yeah. I think it's definitely that once. You say it publicly like I'm not voting being or I am voted like what you talked to oppress about it. Then you can audit pretty much. Assume that that's why they're voting because to go back on. That is pretty like they would have to be some kind of new piece of information gas. Otherwise why would you change. Yeah no and then you vote yes like it just right it makes you look bad in the party. Then can't trust what you say. Yeah so if you tell the web or whoever you know the W who. You're talking to you on the team. I'm not going to vote for this thing or I am going to vote for it and then you don't then the next time they come to you like they can't trust you with what you say. Yeah wow this is like me breaking plans day. Yeah do that all the time. How am I gonNa do it all the time? It's so much. It is so much more more difficult I unfortunately I feel like I understand this process. Does it is a lot harder in my opinion when somebody's like Oh you want to hang out the Friday night title and then it's like the Wednesday and I'm like maybe you'll change my mind but it's like I know that I I'm not GonNa go out on Friday. Yeah would you say that. A lot of these people are Are More likely to just say flat out. No or more people would rather be like. Oh maybe maybe I think you're more likely. Maybe maybe because also if they say no oh they're less likely to get things right maybe Whip we'll go back and be like what do you want. I want this on my bell. Okay right how remove power yup. Yeah because if you really were going to take a stand against the thing not vote out for it then you would just say I would think you would just say no. And here's why again take your principled stance for whatever your reasons are. But if you're like you know oh ambivalent or if you're like if you want to use it as an opportunity to get something out of it for yourself or for like for an issue that you care about the new would say data or You know I may but hear my issues. Yeah so it'd be a no vote is really hard. Timing is also super important so if you go to somebody too early they're likely they could change their mind or if if it becomes if it's like a big issue that's being covered in the press and it's kind of controversial there. There's is a possibility that the constituents were senator or for the Congress person could then start to call them call their offices and you know social media and and that could potentially change. Somebody's somebody's boats. You don't WanNa like whip their vote too early but you want to get a sense of where people are and you don't WanNa wait too. Who late either? Because then things like solidified and people have kind of made up their minds you on a like kind of inbetween bill it out. What's the sentiment you now the person you're talking to you? What's the momentum of the issue and do it at the right time at the right time? Timing is everything you know. It's hard to find someone to be Weston. Houston timing is a part of it all right right juggle a lot of skills for this job. It's it's really yeah charm it also. Ah Never get over it. I'm GonNa Record and then just make it my like ringtone Mama's calling the great send it to me I'll put it in my phone. And whenever you lizzy stalling. No they'll be the sound that comes up so this wrapping up our general whips Zap whips also serve as liaisons between the members and party leadership. We've talked about that. It means that they help to mould leads US legislation in a way that members will support it. And so it's those moments of like like what do you not like about it okay. Let's talk about that and then trying to persuade people to vote one way on a particular issue to vote the Party line. They also make sure that members show up to vote to the floor. We gotta find Darren saying okay. Guys Daryl seventy two hours so is they send out a daily schedule full of oats and information on how long given legislative session will last. They're like we're voting at eleven fifty eleven fifty. What time eleven fifty like Darrelle? We've gotTA show up. And they also they they kind of cover and standby around in the Chamber to be a sounding board into remind people of what the Party's as position is yeah so like we said there are four whips to for each party one in the House and one in the Senate for each party. So we're going to talk a little bit about house and this is like a little bit of the history in the middle of the street. Our the house okay. I'm are we loudly seeing that on air. I always asked us every time I you can things bang love it. Love it this. That's when I sang Jason Derulo. You got producer. Kate saying I am in the clear. y'All no criminal record yet. So yeah we're starting with the house and we'll start with the Democrats in the house else. So the Democrats. The Democratic whip assist Democratic leadership in managing. The Party's legislative program on the House floor makes sense we've talked about that. The whip provides a communications network for the democratic members and mobilizes them for important party measures coming up for a vote the love. I love a communications network. You know talk to us. We'll help you. We know what's going on but that on your resume I know right. I let a communications network. That sounds good That sounds good. They act as a two way bridge between the leadership and rank and file members of the House who I love this. The First Democratic Graddick whip was appointed in eighteen ninety nine when Democratic leader. James D. Richardson of Tennessee. Chose Oscar Underwood of Alabama Alabama. Yeah he did God. Both of those men sound threatening. Also this is like the Democrats in one thousand nine hundred nine which means they are not the Democrat now in love today definitely wanted slavery area awkward and was just. Oh Yes yes us just just your straight hot straight man. I love the wish. So the ashes unlike elmer. Yeah Yeah exactly later. Change D Richardson Tennessee. Sorry this is not what does that. Asmar nope now. There's a lot of fun now. What I don't think exists yet is some sort of political? Asmar were on it. Okay Don Kate show. Oh did you do look think about it relax gavel to gavel. Houston put up a drawing board and let's yeah make some notes. So we their first democratic whip in eighteen ninety nine Oscar Underwood of Alabama however uh-huh incomplete document documentation from nineteen o nine to nineteen twenty. One have left no official record of the Democratic whip during most most of those years so we had like almost twenty years from nineteen o nine to nine hundred twenty one where we lost the papers that said who it was well they know what was say like they. Don't yeah it was. They just don't know what they like. No paper trammell. They lost vaporware gloss honestly it makes accents because it's all they had bagged in paper. I can you imagine sold for somebody who took it home. I ended up on. Somebody's somebody's The servant was like we'll save really could just toss it into I applied. Yeah Yeah I bet you did. They're like no footprints footprint so most often the democratic whip has been appointed by the Democratic leader starting in Nineteen eighty-six. The party whip has has been elected by or by the organizing caucus of the Democratic representatives elect just prior to a new start of Congress. So now we do it by the caucus before it was like the democratically critically Daryl Burns deemed good. You seem like you can. How with the votes if the position becomes vacant vacant during a Congress a new whip is elected at a subsequent meeting of the caucus when the Democrats are in the majority the whip is the third third highest position in the caucus behind the majority leader and the speaker so number one speaker to Majority Leader Three whip when in the minority thirty the whip is the second highest position behind the minority leader makes sense fun facts and backs facts and facts packs of the twenty five members who have served as the Democratic whip? Five later became house speaker eight became Democratic leader and to moved over to the Senate. I love that Nanna sweet. Nancy Pelosi was the democratic whip from two thousand and two to two thousand three Steny Hoyer and James Clyborn have basically traded off being the democratic whip. Since two thousand and three we famously saw steny Hoyer when we went to DC dead went to the House Gallery Gallery and watched the house do stuff and they were like they were voting on a or they were talking about peace of bipartisan legislation about Syria. And steny Hoyer came up in like spoke for what was supposed to be one one minute but ended up being easily. Ten Ten to the current Democratic whip is James Clyburn from South Carolina. That's going on. That's what's is going. On the defense as the dams it's mostly similar for the Republicans their duties of the same as the democratic as their democratic counterparts. The first Republican whip was James Eight. Honey honey of Minnesota does not sound like an ally but for sure kept track of the whereabouts of Republican members for speaker. Thomas Reed of Maine. Where are they where who is still a breakfast? Who is who has left the capital? Well that I mean it must be very difficult in eighteen gene whenever this very difficult yet at the time. Republicans had a very slim majority. And so Reid really needed tawny to let them know where when the bills could like where a where our members physically and also where are they on this boat yeah because because he wanted to bring Supper Bowen but when more Republicans were attendance than Democrat so he was really like tiny. Okay are they all. They're all lunch right Out Great calling the floor to a you know he would vote for things. All the Democrats were not were when some of them weren't there. I love that right since then. The whip have served as a to abridge again between the leadership and the rank and file members is the Democrats. The Republican whip has been elected post for most of its history. Although we think that Tony was appointed by read and this is all coming from the the history of the House website government website feel like if the history of the House Dot Gov does not know for sure. We're that he was appointed. I don't need you double. Check that. So the Democrats. The selection of the whip. Now comes a point when there during the organizing conference offense when there were the representatives elect meet just before the start of a new Congress and then if they're in the majority whip is the third highest post in the conference for the Republican Party. You in the house when they're in the minority like they are right now. The whip is the second highest position behind the Republican leader. They're fun facts about their track record of the seventeen members who have served as Republican whip. which seems like a lot? Well Yeah I guess they stay around. They stick around. Yeah one has become house speaker. La of congratulations nations. Another one has become vice president. Oh okay served. As Republican leader in three others were senators. The current whip Steve Scalise from Louisiana. Yeah and he has held the position since two thousand thirteen. I was born in Louisiana. And how long can you hold it at B. A.. Whip as long as you can get re-elected. Yeah there's no like turn limits. Why when we were talking about Steny Hoyer and James Clyburn who they elect trade off since two thousand three? Yeah so the two of them for over over for almost we'll do the math ninth. Sixteen years have been so. You're I mean that each probably even if they've done it like eight years each like there's Yo as long as you keep getting elected for it by the Congress elect. It's like you know how this position not for me. Just you WANNA be one I imagine. Is it like you get some sort of bump. If you're the wet thinks oh no. I think it's just because it's a party position. It's not a a true government position so you get you know it's a party position so it's not like the H- the official house is nominating you. Who is elected you to do this thing? The party is doing it but you can't be paid a salary for another job is my understanding. So you don't think too like and that's what this would fall under so producer. Kate brought up that the DMC would probably allocate more money to their campaign. We're jumping right back in with the Senate whips in how they're different so both parties just like in the house elect elect whips in the Senate they serve as assistants is to the floor leaders who are also elected by their party conferences. The majority and the minority whips and assistance are responsible for mobilizing votes within their parties on major issues so this is all pretty much the same as the house. And you're just getting the votes yet. In the absence of a party floor leader the whip will often serve as the acting floorleader. So if Mitch. McConnell is not at the floor than the the Republican whip will be the person who's like taking control crawl whips in the Senate were established in the early twentieth century. The development of party whips coincided with the evolution one of the Party leaders in the Senate love Democrat James Hamilton Lewis of Illinois became the First Party whip in nineteen thirteen eighteen and then the Republicans established their own whip position. Two years later I love it. I love how they were like. Oh what a whip and and I WANNA whip I WanNa whip give me away. I can't we. We can't agree on anything. We need somebody to buzz. Some we need somebody to find Daryl errol that's for damn sure. They typically act as assistant leaders the Senate whips because they are mainly responsible for counting heads and rounding up party members for votes in quorum calls. Yeah and they occasionally stand in the majority or minority leaders in their absence or you at a quorum go I think on a quorum is as the number of senators that must be present for the Senate to do business. The constitution requires a majority of senators. Fifty one for quorum often fewer senators than that are actually present on the floor but this Tenet presumes this is also often the Senate Doug of website. Isn't it presumes that a quorum is present unless the contrary is shown owned by a roll-call vote or quorum call so unless we ask if the majority of senators were present were just GonNa just right they is there a AH Okay Sanit yet. I see you a quorum. Call now know is a call of the roll so the people who were. They're present in the building in the Senate floor to establish whether a quorum is present if any senator suggests the absence of a quorum. The presiding officer must direct correct the roll to be called. So if somebody's like there's three of us I see people here. I don't think it's here feels feels like forty nine. I'm not feeling fifty one. Were missing some people. Just sorry at the lights are so bright Oh yeah near as three shoot. It does anybody who suggests you know that there aren't enough people. They must hold a quorum call. Often Corum call is terminated by unanimous consent before completion which permits the Senate to use the Corum call to obtain a brief delay to work out some difficulty or wait for people to arrive. So they're like we don't have enough people that we a quorum call and then people start to drift and they're like sorry. Train subway train was laid off the three and doesn't run me arriving coming to work every day. And then they continue their business once they have warm love. Republicans in the Senate have gone back and forth about what they call this. Whip position in one thousand nine hundred ninety. They began Ganor ferring to their whips as assistant leaders but then in two thousand and three they began using the whip title against going back and forth like a branding issue. Nearly I don't know who I am I might lazy or Elizabeth I get it been there yet. I don't know so much but I don't I don't think this whip title is going to be which mash fresh cut eight. Hey this is the Vietnam and so sorry to our listeners. For my issues and the other thing in two thousand Seventeen Democrats created a new position of assistant leader which is separate separate from and ranks directly below the position of whip whip love. Yup so here is a little bit of history of the GOP whips that have been in our Senate. The First Republican Party whip was James. W Junior Wadsworth sir. James W Junior Wadsworth served in the post in Nineteen fifteen. He was from New York. He did go to Yale. And he did serve as a private in Puerto Rico during the Spanish American war are I James W Junior Wadsworth. Okay Okay No. Republican whips were appointed from nineteen thirty five to nineteen in forty four since only seventeen republicans were in the Senate following the landslide election of president. Franklin D Roosevelt in nineteen thirty six so literally there were. Let's do the math. Eighty three Democratic senators. An only seventeen is up. There were seven to. I don't remember no. Oh there wouldn't have been a three because the they weren't states Alaska when was the last. Okay Yep Yep we would say eighty democratic's I love. There's only seventeen Republicans they're like. I don't know y'all we know we know we're all year we don't look you know it's just not going to happen. Accordingly the minutes of the Republican Conference for the period state quote on motion of Senator Hastings Duly seconded and carried. It was agreed that no assistant leader would be elected but that the chairman be authorized to appoint senators from time to time to assist him and taking charge the interest of the minority. Oh my status speech. I've ever heard really like look. There's not enough of ice enough of us. We know we. You don't need them. We don't need a need a leader. We just need some help from time to time you know in Franklin tries to do news social security. We just might need a little help saying please don't please. Don't get us out of this depression. A note attached to at that conference minutes added quote the Chairman of the conference. Senator McNary apparently appointed Senator Austin Vermont Assistant Leader in nineteen forty three and nineteen forty four until the conference adopted the rules organizations so apparently guy was appointed. I loved it like they put a sticky note on it and they're like look and some staffer was like apparently. Apparently this happened uh-huh Jonathan I. Guess it's like we're in the war in the midst like the height of the Second World War so they're like okay. Maybe we need a little help. I don't know who knows poor. Republicans during that time okay. Most recently the Republican Party whip was John Cornyn from Texas from two thousand and thirteen two thousand and nineteen currently the Republican Party. Senate Senate whip. Is John Thune. Sorry it's a silly name from South Dakota. The current deputy whips are Senator Mike. uh-huh you're welcome. I'm going to say it how I think it's sad and this is not me trying to be rude. You whatever their Mike Crappo GRAPPO. Okay you tell me how you pronounce his name. C. R. A. P.. Oh that's what it is CRAPPO. Mike Take your mother's maiden name for God's Sakes Mike Crappo Republican from Idaho. He is the chief deputy happy. Whip Roy Blunt Republican from Missouri. Shelley Moore Capito Republican from West Virginia. John Cornyn Republican Texas. This cory Gardner Republican Colorado. James Lankford Republican from Oklahoma and Martha mcsally Republican from Arizona. Those are deputy whips right right now. Oh there's more there's more there's going Rob Portman Republican Ohio. Mitt Romney Republican Hugh Tall. Tim Scott Republican South Carolina Alana Thom Tillis Republican North Carolina and todd. Young Republican Indiana. Those are all deputy whips right. There's like that's like half of vo count and the literally them or whips. They've each got a person to step. Yeah that too many now i. I don't know I guess not. It seems like overkill. Yeah I'm kind of like because there's only fifty one of you you need twelve. I don't I didn't do the math here but a lot of I thought you get away with five. Yeah it's nobody's surprising and the whip also gets to vote. Yeah everybody gets okay. Yeah everybody gets to vote. This is just like an internal organization. They've created for themselves to figure out WHO's voting. What yet but at the end of the day one person one vote in the Senate? That's right can you believe the Democrats. So history of the Democrats in the Senate the First Senate whip was James Hamilton Lewis from nineteen thirteen to nineteen. He served in the post again from nineteen thirty thirty three to nineteen thirty. Nine J. came back back. He went to the University of Virginia and studied law in Savannah. Georgia heard of it. He served in the Talk to this. He served in Puerto Rico during the Spanish American war. But as inspector general wow I know I think it's funny that the Republican Publican Dude and the Democratic Dude in the same more in the same place like in different positions. But they were serving like alongside. I think that was really interesting. Friendship Harry read from Nevada served as the wet from nineteen ninety five nine hundred ninety nine to two thousand five. He later went on to be the majority leader and caucus chairman chairman. The current Democratic Party whip is Dick Durbin from Illinois. All right. I guess I'm GonNa have to throw my name in the hat. Anita should what so. Why are we brought you here? Whereas I'm reading we actually been kind of checking you out for a while and I think you are what this country needs? I think a lot of people a lot out of old white people probably that are it needs to be whipped leading. Show frazier sure. And I think that I could be their entry way. You you are the bridge that will bring that. Will that will bridge the gap go all right greater risk. How much money millions are? We'll make some calls a million alien verse. Okay make a million John Star Yeah. I think it's mobile through to go funding and just see what happens. I needed a good reason to start a gofundme on meeting. This is this is this is to be whip. But that is that's the job of the whip. Anita how do you feel now that you know I feel as as if I I mean I definitely feel like I know a lot more. There's still so much right so much like even from everything you've told me. Then there's many questions of all the other parts of the parties of course with the whips yeah are there scooters. I mean that's an somebody calls and let us know if there are scooters and if there are send us a picture so we can look at them look in wonder by where I think I also am thinking. I want to watch a show all that has to do with politics but I'm not sure which one I have seen the net but you've told me the west wing is a fantasy now so I'm like yeah. It is so good. It's really good. The first couple of seasons of the West Wing are incredible. Yeah it will make you the breath yet because you know right. This is no longer what we have anymore but it is a very very good good show. I do highly recommend it And if listeners you have any show recommendations on shows deal with politics tweet at us let us now tell us us and we'll watch them watch them watch them you know and you know. Maybe we'll maybe we'll do a little mini on things that we watched. We do want to many on the documentary. Uh National Treasure which is a very good talk that is. That's where you start you start with the Documentary National Treasurer starring Nicolas Cage which is truly profound. A profound piece of film. Aren't on look at me like I'm crazy. I've never seen it. I thought you watched it no waiting waiting on me. Adobe do many of us okay because I want to write down that we have to do a mini episode on the Documentary National Truck. And I'll watch it if you want. I'm happy to come back. We'll have NITA back on and we'll do. We'll do national treasure multiple. Talk talk about why it's real and why we need to steal the declaration of Independence Not really okay. Who's listening to this now? Not really get air guy. Have you met me look at my face. I'm not a threat. Okay please throw away my file by sometimes you just have to like directly address the FBI who is profiling me at this point is listening to one hundred and for the for the FBI. WHO's listening Okay so that's our episode. Anita can you tell us what we can look forward to in your life. Oh my gosh well as other than becoming separately from becoming a whip I Have the scrape Pisces. Check out about frazier called. I'm listening and I also have a monthly comedy. Great Men's Nose Rings Throughout History

"The. You. Welcome back to the Ross Bowl and podcast otherwise known as rb p presented by Bolan media. I am your host Ross Bowl and back again with your co host Chris Cole's Colson Kohl's what's good happy. Monday Ross we made it through another weekend another weekend start to a new week. In the studio to work out in this morning. Good starting off the week. Hot. Good Vibes. Got To bring the energy gotta bring the vibes. Love it. That's what it's all about today. That's what it's all about here on the Ross Bohlin podcast is true. That's what it's about every damn episode. I had my little brothers. Sam In town this weekend. Big Shouts to Sam. He stayed in the Gaming Dungeon, my guest room at Bowling, Media HQ, Aka, my house We had a good time despite not being able to really do shit outside due to the extreme heat the heat advisory every day for the past four days. But also we tried to go to the park which had to go to the greenbelt. Did you tried to experience nature and? Out there. And they told us we needed a permit. Oh. I saw Alex Jones yelling at some teenagers in Austin, about them asking him for a permit to walk on the Green Belt I love seeing Alex Jones Yell at teenagers. Did you yell at teenagers? No not a bullhorn. I. Calmly walked up to the entrance. uh-huh two gentlemen were seated. There was their age masks with the clipboards I would say mid twenties late twenties perhaps. And I said there's a large sign that said, you need a permit to enter the greenbelt. Now, this place I've been one hundred times right? You just walk the fuck in it's just the forest. Okay. There's just a trail that's been made by the city or whatever. And I I walked up calmly and I said Oh, I, need a permit and they said Yeah and you have to sign up at twenty four hours in advance and I was like so I can't hop on right now and just sign up and get a slot and they were like no and I was like well damn I had no idea and they were like, yeah, the rule started last week it's like one. Of those things where like if you're not paying attention actively to the news or like following your city on twitter some shit how'd you know you have no idea. So we literally like turned around and walked back to the truck and depressingly drove back to my house. But we said, fuck, it will shoot hoops at home and game horrid. Yeah. Wish we did get in some Bro time which brings me to our opening topic. Fall guys. I love. Fog is all right. So a new game tins to pop up every like what six months or so in other video game comes out and it just wreaks havoc on the gaming community because everybody gets fully hooked in addicted to it. There was fortnight. Just going to give you the most recent batch fortnight. which just elevated everything gaming wise I four and I was like a catalyst for this kind of modern. Hype hysteria over video. Games, in a very quick amount of time. Beast gaming because you have like you have like, I'd say you're elite. Say. Three per top one percent of your streamers right? You have your courage day decipher Ninja Tim the top man, those type of players right? They'RE GONNA Tofu t foo Foo I wouldn't say necessarily he's not one of them. Well, he's more on the competitive scene. He doesn't really do like the like the more casual gaming just disgusting video. Could you say thanks to nick? Merck's is in there for sure he's in that some of these dudes live in Austin at this point. Is At least a couple of them. Obviously still. Leaves houses out in Cali, though Cypher built himself a little castle somewhere in Austin Yeah documented well on instagram he was our guest on Patriot episode Awhile Back One of the biggest fortnight streamers in the world. But regardless, what happens is these big streamers they get a hold of this new game right and then all of their followers CNN, all of their followers hop on it, and then it's this new wave and hysteria and that's what's been happening. With foget and it kind of feeds it that streaming element of it. All these twitch guys these professional streamers who play video games all day and have you know like in the case of Nick Merck Sixty, thousand subscribers or whatever the hell he has hundred and fifty grand a month playing video games, and that's not counting sponsors not counting any his endorsements or his what is it? Four thieves three thieves thieves one hundred thieves there's one hundred of them. Or that contractor, any of his other shit. Fifty k. a month is like one of the CO I. think he's like a partner there now like he's Nick Berg is crushing. But yeah, exactly. So these dudes when they. Find One of these new hot games and all of their followers are watching that this game wouldn't eventually gotten to where it is because it might. It's it's spurred. So quickly by now, we have these gaming influencers in the case of fog is right. So we had like fortnight apex legends than warzone came along. And now fall guys and there's also elements to this like whether or not the games that preceded the new game are keeping their shit together like warzone had a ton issues past week weeks glitches like crazy season five, really an opportunity for guys to. Capitalize and capitalized because so many people were frustrated with warzone including us. That's like when Apex I came out and fortnight was like at the start of its decline and just hope that Shit and ran with it, they just couldn't keep it hot competitive in the top of the the gaming scene it is and in a fortnight's credit, they were able to do it better than anybody I've ever seen it just got a little stale there was too many crazy shipping around season three or four we were like there's like airplanes cars. I. Can't understand what's happening anymore they could. No. Longer we're all so sweaty and they go no longer figure out if they wanted the market the game to a casual audience os just hopping onto play every now and then or if they wanted to market it to a very competitive audience that was taken the game to the utmost seriousness and was trying to actively like win the fortnight World Cup right they had no idea what to do and now the good thing about fall guys the market that it it hits is that it's so casual that you can take it kind of in a competitive way, but it's just so goofy. And funny that you just have to kind of laugh at it and have a good time with it. There are games like war zone like apex legends that are really only targeted gamers. Okay. Like most people don't play video games actively people listening who are like I don't really care about video games warzone apex legends. These are like pretty hard core first person shooters absolutely fortnight was different because it's so cartoonish targeted kids. The whole thing is like a fucking casino there's just blights going off everywhere. You mean, my sister plays fortnight like ten she doesn't she's not a Gamer show. Hop On and play fortnight because all her friends play for at night and they hop on, they play together and it's kind of relaxing chill in their games like animal farmer or whatever the fuck. It's causing animal crossing right which which it doesn't have anything to do with gamers per se the traditional Gamer, and that's where fog is has made same right matches massive impact that's actually on it almost remind you of like we game really is Hindu we start like a game where you're like anybody could play this like do you remember the old we sports resort Gan it was. It's like basically the cartoon version of we sports resort and it's also like there's so many people who grew up on Mario. Party. On these Games Games within games, a whole bunch of different party get anybody can play. This game is the point absolutely guys is essentially there's three buttons you're a little bean. Okay. You're like a bean of in a living being with arms and legs, and then you get an outfit for your being in the. Case of me, I might be just like a pigeon currently and all you do is compete against what is it? You start with one hundred, sixty, sixty people start sixty beans. Okay and it's either a race or some kind of obstacle course or some kind of mini game like involving big bouncy balls. There's one that's a lot like soccer. There's a lot like like capture the flag almost, but you gotta get the ball's in your corner. The point is this fall guys probably the funniest video game I have ever played in terms of the content it produces if you have never I know a lot of. Talk about twitch every week. Now, when we talk about it every week, it's become a massive part of our community and it's become a incredibly entertaining and enjoyable way to spend an evening. I would not talk about this shit. So much I did think it was worth your while and I'm just trying to convince as many of you as I can to come through and see us on twitch dot TV slash boss Roland we're live and I've never had a better reason to talk about it. Then fog is we played last night for probably two hours. Yeah to. Close out our stream, our Sunday night streams. So we are planning named Monday Thursday seven to ten thirty. PM Central every week. Right we're planning on streaming from seven to ten thirty pm like on the dot and I was planning on coming over and then going home at about ten thirty back to my crib, the juice box, the juice box as it's known, and as soon as we start playing fall guys, we play like one game and then Ross and I walk out to go to the back porch real quick and he looks at me and he goes You want to just get fucked up stay here and you can We'll just play fog is till like midnight now cy young man that sounds awesome and that's exactly what we did and we had the door camera setup onstream for the first time. So you could see my face and Ross's face at the same time will post some clips on twitter and instagram later today because there were genuinely moments of on like just. Garrity we hit a point. No joke. So you can see us both on the Stream. Now, if that didn't make sense, we got a camera on Cole's computer a camera on my computer, and they both show our faces on twitch dot TV slash boss role as we play warzone as we play fog is there was a point last night during fog is. Where we were on a map, it's like it's like a spinning I don't even know spinning obstacle course all of these like. Spinning in different ways and directions, and it got to the point where we had been running around trying to survive for so long. That, my brain just couldn't take it anymore. I said at a laughing fit. I started crying out of I was so stressed that in the moment finally ended I th like drop my controller in tears running down my face because I was. So into my little Jello bean guy not a joke it's like it was crying for different reasons I was crying laughing and then I fell off the map that's fall guys you don't WanNa fall I fell off the map probably five seconds before the cutoff for the next to qualify for. The next round and that's the thing you play with up to four people in your little. It's not a team but in your little lobby. Yeah. So three friends with you and then you all want to survive every round and try to get to the last round. Well, I died five seconds before the cut off. So and I was already crying laughing because I just completely lost control all mental faculties at this point and then Chris crying because he survived and it's finally over in this particular round was just so like it was torture. Literally three and a half minutes of staying completely locked into my little bean man, my animated being man, the other beans are trying to grab you. Hysterical. A lot of them are funny shit like a milkshake. Oh, come an assault you while you're trying to focus. Yes. Soda can try to Arcadia are k. you off the side of the rolling sometimes they will exactly I mean it is literally it's genuinely the most absurd like almost wanna cut a clip that clip of us just to stay laughing and put it in right here so that we can discuss you can give you an audio version of just how insane that is. In fact I what we will do that we'll cut that clip and we'll put it right here. Cheering against me. No Fuck Shit. The Lord. Off. Lahore. So the timing timing about timing. Let's go. ALL COME ON PUSSY JUMP Fuck. This being sucks. Plea derailing I'm completely derailing. Bro. Off. The. Shit Dude, how are How We can back out. Now I realize we sound incredibly silly all right and granted I'm a little high in that clip but. FUNNEST game most fun I've ever had playing a game that is like zero. It's like zero stress and yet the most stress possible. It's different points good stress though. Zone is bad stress warzone is very frustrating and you wanted sometimes punch your monitor after you die after spinning dirty out dude, because you play your game for thirty minutes and it's war war is hell exactly. Fog is you're bean man on your journey to the top of the mountain is turning the crown man just hanging out vibe and not a phone in site just a bunch. Of jello being men and join their party a told your Sunday Monday Thursday seven to ten thirty PM central tonight is obviously Monday night and you can bet your ass we're going to be closing with fog is again because that's called said warzone stressful as hell murder grenades gunfire constantly fall guys polygons polly got no more though no more now fog is just unbelievably funny ridiculous circumstances and. I mean by the time you get to follow guys, you'll definitely be experiencing tanner and Ron Wicks Entirely possible. Literally one hundred percent chance but anyway, this game if you just google it. Or. Look up some you to go to go to twitch dot TV slash boss role and watch a couple of the most recent clips. There's comes fog is once you heard the sound bite we just played for you all, but you can watch and kind of see what it is we're getting into. The three of us have planned on gaming on twitch dot TV slash boss role in together in the evening. And as gearing up I, see rumblings in the. Gang Discord, which is like slack, but it's called discord. It's an incredible community over eight hundred people in there to listen to the show now. Mentions of something like Kohl's getting something pierced or something in the discordant I just sorta like ignored it like other fucking with me or he's fucking with them. Keep in mind discord is talking about my nipples like thirty percent of the time point. So you don't really I didn't know what's real. What's not exactly I I. Whatever and I move on several minutes later. Christopher Kohl's Colson, walks into my house. and. He's clearly been putting in work during the day. I don't know what you did. I. Don't know where you went, but you've been putting in work I'm talking beers possibly blunt who knows. And the man walks in and I'm sitting at the computer and he he leans down. And he has A. Fake diamond. Diamond, not yet show me the diamond. Diamond here not a diamond yet stud nose piercing. Now. It's not that I'm against the nose piercing. Obviously, it's not that I'm anti piercing. It's did it was quite shocking it. The camera zooms in here to give you a good look on youtube dot com slash Bolan media, but as you can see. Any is quite real. So at first, my reaction is all this motherfucker has stuck like a stick on and he's screwing with us but in like within twenty seconds which first of all. That is not a bit that would pull off. So I don't know why that popped neurosis mind. Yeah. I, just WANNA fuck with Ross and get a nose today I don't know. Did it affect your team content now I am Team content is going to do, but you should know you should know team content to the point where if I'm going to do that I'm going all in anyway. If I was doing it just for anyway I'm getting the nose piercing I five minutes. You're there. I'm still unclear if it's a joke if it's real I don't WanNa. Ask I'm a little suited dude is just showed up it'd be rude I'm on the stream like do I say like real like I I wasn't trying to hurt your feelings but at the same time. This was a content situation. I could tell I had put Ross into a another mindset he the gears were grinding slowly but surely in his head figuring out what was going on right now, what was my reaction supposed to be? What would I can't stare at it too hard at first now I can. I walk. It's not gonna be staring at it. It's like staring at somebody's pimple or something they're like, do get your fucking eyes off my nose ring you're wearing me out I did catch you. Cap You caught a couple of glasses looking over at me while you're gaming that'd be on my phone texting or someone that look up and you're just like. Trying to figure you out trying to see what's trying to get a little. Light off this fucking cubic zirconium thing that stuck in your nose. The point. Is it. It's very real adjacent. See if you're on youtube dot com slash Bolan media. Many people were concerned. The response was widely Contra. It was it was it was controversial. There were people who are all over it. Love the nose ring fucking great move big dig move psycho move is what I call it psycho. Like, Oh, move got a lot of psycho moved to be one month into employment on a on a show that literally requires you to put your face on camera and just roll in. With a fucking nose ring with a dime not like it's not like if I don't even know what I would have picked like if. I'm coming through with a nose ring. Would you prefer like the bull style like words? Ring in the middle. Or a Stud I don't even know what I would pick frankly. I think the stud. It's gotta be the Stud it look I'm just not. I'm not piercing guy everybody knows about me I've attempted one tattoo in my life. It went horribly horribly wrong. One Fourth of a wedding ring essentially is what I ended up with. I. Don't have any Piercings I. Don't have any tattoos. I don't like needles I don't like people who like needles. I'm scared of sharp objects. I love the show sharp objects on HBO. This. I. Didn't know what to make up front, Christie response? For just tell us what happened what was it? What is this? All right. So I've been wanting I'll be honest I've been wanting the nose piercing for probably since before I moved probably a good two months now right that I've like really genuinely been wanting to get my nose at some point you were just like I need to nose ring. I'm trying to think or stood what do I say what do I call it? What do you call? I just called a nose piercing nose piercing. So, the long term goal is to get a hoop I WANNA do a little gold hoop rate here over it's after a while on the side on the side, but it takes two months for this whole to heal enough to swap it out, and then I can do it. But regardless, I wanted this for about two months. Actually, Greta Thurn. Bergen chat he's on that that inspired me bursting. Yeah. To Jesse Jesse STU. Gentleman. Jessen on dischord gratitude tune Berg. Every time you hops in the waiting room I laugh it's pretty funny because. It was Greta but. So he inspired me, he actually has one and. I'm a very free spirited person I. Think your body is a canvas that's years to decorate and express any way that you can and really make a statement about who you are and I think the nose piercing definitely does make a statement about who I am. I. Think it fits my personality well, and honestly, if you don't like the nose piercing, you're probably not somebody I'd WanNa hang out with anyway. So fuck you. So yeah, that's Aggressive nose ring take that. We all need. It just had to let you know if you if frankly if you get a nose ring, that's the message you're sending to everybody. Yeah. The haters the hater if you're GONNA on it, I don't need you in my life i. don't need that negatively it has the spirit of rebellion attached to it. I'm a very rebellious spirit I'd say that's fair. Question everything. Don't trust society. Again question everything that's really what it is for me this. This says the says question everything I would say is that the vibe that you got because that's what I'm sitting. I got psycho vibes just through. Through psychos like on the right track. This is the fucking weird thing about me though. Okay. Because, you wouldn't consider to me to be like a standard normal adult. No, we had a point over the weekend with some guy was like we're putting up Promo for for fall guys I think. Somebody commented Ross you're thirty and I said. No I'm thirty, three either love. Merely me alone. I don't have a traditional life path nothing about me is like a routine. Yeah. But I'm like no tattoos no piercings guy for some reason. Strike me as tattoos and piercings guy though like I don't like. Never. Personnel. If you walked in with a nose piercing, I would be like. Going through. Something what's going on? Do you WanNa talk speaking. Your mom did text me okay, Chris doesn't know this. I'm told them. This is literally happening right now. She said you have to play mom now in calls needs a haircut and I was like, all right and then she sent me a photo of you. I. Guess It was a long period of time where you didn't cut your hair. If you're straight man and you get a nose piercing, you're showing complete control of your own masculinity in a very in Tunis with your feminine side as well. I. Think it's a statement. It shows that I can be in control of all aspects of my emotion and my personal inner masculinity and femininity who the fuck season nose ring and goes. So you know we like to pull headlines from the past couple few days every once in a while and do a segment called insane headlines The day where we throw out these headlines that are insane and very, very real, and then we discuss them. And the things that surround the first up on the list is from the riverfront. Times. In Saint Louis I believe. Here's your headline. Some wop parentheses wet asked precipitation. is causing flash flooding in Saint Louis today. Now what you have here is an example of a Journalist attempting to integrate pop culture into the news. So I was really hoping that this would be some twenty, two year old intern and then I went and checked on Jamie Lee who the the writer for this her catalog dates back to two thousand and six on the Riverfront Times been grinding minute on the riverfront time, which sadly makes this significantly worse fourteen years of Internet struggle and that'll clean years of Internet struggle on the riverfront. Times. To all leading up to some wet asked precipitation is causing flash flooding in Saint Louis today now for those really you're unaware Or Unawares. There is a new song by Cardi B. and Meghan the stallion. If you're unfamiliar with within they're both female rappers very famous and successful two of the most famous and successful female rappers of all time currently up there with Nicki. Minaj in terms of those are the three that are probably most prominent female rap. They made a song called Wop W., a. p. and it stands for. Wet Ass. Pussy. Precipitation. Wet. Ass Pussy. Which? As you guessed is a very inappropriate rap song with lyrics that would make you a second guessed your very existence. I mean. The music video is. Electric. I've called it porn for me. Me Look. Hip Hop music videos with a ton of working. That's porn for me. I don't mean to me I. Don't mean I'm offended by it I. Mean I enjoy it to a degree that puts it in the same as pornography like I like it too much. All right. Here's your intro. Whores in this house there's some whores in this house. There are some whores in this house. There's some horrors in this. House I said certified freak seven days a week whereas pussy. Make that. pull out. Game Week. Wu. and. Then it just really just goes from there. Cardi B. Says Yeah. You fucking with some wet ask pussy bring a bucket in a mop for this wet ass Pussy Gimme me everything you got. For this what ass Pussy and then things just continue to escalate and derail. Did you by chance the clip of Ben Shapiro reading the entire Song? God No, and now, I have to go watch. It's just something you didn't tell me about it's fantastic. The man's faced upsets me he has one of the most punishable faces in the history of faces allegedly he laughs like the joker to it I. Think it has to be a bit because it's just too ridiculous for that to be as actual. Laugh God should not have given a man a laugh that sounds like that. Naturally, that'd be a shame not there's no way he doesn't have a natural laugh that's a that's a manufactured laugh. Ben Shapiro is one of fucking sociopaths that like manicures his very life and laugh. It's God I want to punch his face. So freaking hard. But yeah, good for him having read all the lyrics and And what I can only assume one be whiter moments in the history of radio, television podcasting and Youtube ing. By Far Yeah Yeah anyway good luck to everybody in Saint Louis Hope. You'll survive that WOP next headline. McDonald sues former CEO over alleged sexual relationships with staff. It's a big deal. You may have heard McDonald's is a large corporation. They invented things like the big Mac. What else? The quarter pounder with cheese the chicken nuggets chicken at one point it wasn't anyway the dollar, the dollar mcchicken, the dollar menu, the dollar menu I see. Cajun, mcchicken super size me. You may have seen super size me the documentary perhaps even the show the founder. About Ray KROC, a movie was a great movie apparently supersized. Me was actually a fraud and the guy was eating way more like if you actually did that Diet for thirty days, you shouldn't have put on as much way as he put on what I swear. I watched something about it. And Look. I can't jump in this corner with you. I don't know anything about super size me being called out for being fake. All right. Go for it scared for you. For all the super size, me fanatics out there that are gonNA come for your head. Hey, we'll see you can't supersize your meal anymore. So I will go to water burger every night for the next thirty days and get a cinnamon roll a large chocolate shake and honey butter chicken biscuit, and we'll see what happens we mother of God. I. Worry for your Heart Anyway McDonald's suing its former CEO. This is from CNBC Steve easterbrook. For allegedly lying during the company's internal probe into his behavior, the board terminated him in November for having a consensual relationship with an employee. The company now alleges that he had sexual relationships with more employees and lied about it. So not only did they find out God? Listen. It's not that difficult. If you're the CEO of a company, don't blink your employees. Consensual or non frankly it's just not a good play at some point. Something bad is going to happen in general in my experience and by this I mean like one degree removed experience because it was people at my former company many of whom ended up having relationships, different kinds. It doesn't work. It's very dramatic. It does nothing but bring chaos and suffering to all of the employees would immediately puts in a power struggle, which that is never good relationship to begin with anyways it, and then also all this shit would like the metoo movement was about powerful men having influence in ability to put women in positions where they felt like they needed to appease them or have sex with them to escalate or move forward their careers in a way that was incredibly. Inappropriate. Berry, you can't be the CEO of Mickey D's. Have, a relationship with an underlying employees and have it impact your relationship somehow because you're the CEO of Mickey D's. Okay, and this guy wasn't even just like. Not only did they probe him? Right? You've been probed. Ever gotten a probe like a physical probe. No, he's never been probed. They've never been many still lives never been physically probe and then they find out this motherfucker. So what they're trying to do is recover millions of dollars stations. What's up? I was saying maybe by aliens one nine I was. Probed yes. At the first ever episode of South Park Cartman pro. Idea they. What's up I was just GonNa say as the CEO McDonald's you would think there's countless girls that you could go out on a date with that don't work for McDonald's right like it shouldn't be that difficult I. Mean you're the CEO fucking McDonalds you would think it would be that difficult to score a date that doesn't work for your actual company. When I'm guessing it wasn't because dude easterbrook was just out there being a psycho with pain. He was just making his way through the roster. Sky Doesn't have a nose ring. That's why good defense for you. If you had a nose ring, it probably would have calmed him down made them a little more free spirited little more worldly loving of all people responsible what a scene and respectful he would have felt the pain of. Extras ways and it would have showed him. The light is what you're saying exactly. Exactly. The China recover millions in compensation they paid out to Easterbrook by suing him for allegedly committing fraud and lying during the company's internal probe into his behavior according to a filing. With the S. E. C., which stands for. Securities and Exchange Commission. It has nothing to do with football. Absolutely nothing to do with football. Apparently, his actions came to light in July. Investigation, when sued during the investigation, he lied and destroyed information regarding inappropriate behavior including three alleged additional sexual relationships with employees before his firing. None of the employees have been named and in October, he had said he only had one relationship, but there was new evidence including dozens of nude or sexually explicit photos and videos of women including images of the female employees. There were taken in late two, thousand, eighteen, early, twenty, nineteen, and sent as attachments from his corporate email account who his personal email. Wanting to the lawsuit easterbrook allegedly those photos and emails from his phone before it was searched by an outside investigator. Oh. Man. That's the biggest boomer move of all time. Foolish mistakes by Easterbrook, all around also around four relationships with employees at McDonalds. Relationship. With an employee to relationships with an employee three relations. That's Count Dracula from sad doesn't street you know he kind of looks like somebody that that would be involved in something like this. If you are a white male in a suit with slicked back care everybody assumes that you do inappropriate pants. We're the age of slicked back hair guys. These guys aren't nope and that's why they're stuck in. Actually, they're just doing balanced just doing bad things to stuck in power hungry mania think I can do anything land. Next headline. Fire Tornadoes reported in northern California Wildfire Y'all know California's Stroz first of all headlines from New York. Times. California has issues with these fires I it's a problem. Obviously she gets insane. Well. Lot of news here to cover in one sitting highest temperature recorded on earth occurred in July of nineteen thirteen. In death, valley, California on day the Mercury Mercury allegedly reached one, hundred, thirty, four degrees. This past Sunday temperatures got within four degrees of record extreme. Heat has taken over much of the desert in south. West and California. Part of the issue is that they had a severe thunderstorm over the weekend lightning from the storms and downed power lines helped spark multiple small fires across California. The fire spread. And a massive one in northern California spawned a fire Tornado, which is a rotating column of air forced by extreme heat and turbulent winds within towering pyro cumulus clouds crushed it. I'm a scientist. It's a fire induced tornado sixty mph winds felt near the Fire Tornado Unreal it's actually terrifying to look at. Look I'm already like a tornado is one thing I'm out I'm scared I don't want anything to do with it. But I'm looking at these storms and video footage of the storm. Oh, my Lanta. This is some shit. I, want nothing to do with. Crazy dude. Texas doesn't really have to worry about wildfires. Do they don't really get wildfires down here? All we've been fucked up. Yeah, you have. Yeah. Yeah Mike, what's the name of the town? It's not as Buddha Buddha? Buddha's just south of Austin Yeah. The got ransacked by fires, which one is it? I can't hear you headphones. I don't want to disrespect this town Mike Yell it. It is beauty correct. Thank you. I, know people from there and when you drive through it this, this fire was probably I dunno between five and ten years ago I'm sure not great with history. Was I in college not sure. Burn down the whole Goddamn forest in the whole shit is still as you're driving down seventy one on both sides just. Trees. Grow back know when they go up in flames like that we get fucked up by fires on occasion not like California at all while wildfires are probably my if I had to be scared of any natural phenomena, it's definitely wildfires though shits are terrifying where they move they go. They can move incredibly fast. They can get ridiculously high and they can directions in the blink of an eye and the problem is like with a flood. Swim, yeah you know yes with a Wi with a Tornado I'm like. Well, at least I can run or I've seen twister chain myself to a pipe or whatever. What. In the fuck do you do with a wildfire because once it's on you? Just. You can't fight fire. With fire no well, actually they do have to fight fire with fire they borderline fighting with if it's coming at me nothing you run savvy ever. You haven't seen the movie only the brave by chance have you have not with miles teller? No one of the firefighter. Wildfire fighter when you Google fire movies, only the brave is the second one that pops up right signed playing with fire starring John Sina from Twenty Nineteen I would highly recommend only the brave over the John seen a movie I don't have much faith in the John Cena movie. If I'm being completely honest brave very unfair mostly or only the brave is one of the only movies ever like truly bring me to balling tears at the end of it very, very intense movie based on a true story about people that fought wildfires down in Arizona and the shit that they have to go through to try to fight a wildfire it is intense men and extremely dangerous. Respect all those people, firefighters. Yeah. Respect. All the people that are stuck in California the California prison system on a we'd charge that are being forced to go fight wildfires for a dollar an hour. Do they have to do that through? Yeah shouts Kamla Harris thanks for that. Is that an actual thing oh? Yeah. was that through Camila Harris because she was the prosecutor for years and years in California that got thousands of people locked behind bars for marijuana charges that are now fighting wildfires for a dollar a day 'cause they're stuck in the prison system. That's unfortunate. Especially because her competitor Vice President Mike Pence notoriously freeze people for we'd charges. Left and right. Mike Pence Man of the marijuana they've called him man on fire. He's what I've heard from of set. Aside. That's what I've heard movies rain on fire trial by fire chariots of fire. That's a good one. My Dad was a fireman. He never had to fight wildfires ladder forty nine. Also respect Cole's father. Who was a firefighter and a nascar pit crew gasoline man what do you call it? catch can man than Jackman and then gas man live all these names next headline. Design and my man final headline North Koreans forced to give up a pet dogs for restaurant meet amid food shortages. Apparently Kim Jong UN has announced in July that owning a pet is now against the law authorities, identifying homes with dogs in Pyongyang and rounding them up some of the dogs are sent to state run zoos or sold to dogmeat restaurants. The only thing that I'm curious is are the dishes named after the dog or the breed that's the only thing I really good questions about this declared that pet dogs are a symbol of capitalist decadence in order that dogs Pyongyang rounded up and owners are fearful that their beloved pets are being used to solve the nation's food shortages. So of course, he finds a way to lining up with the West. But in reality of course, now, there's concerns that they just need these dogs for food. Will I'm pretty? I would say they definitely just need them for food and he's just figuring out a way to make it against the West if you came to my house. And attended to take my dogs from me for any reason. Food, they wouldn't take and there too skinny any other it doesn't any reason the but they're also the most decadent of dogs. Could Point taking scarface. I'm taking out as many people as I can on the way out. Is Many of you. Dog Killing fucks are going down with me as I can get to go down with him. If you come for me and minds. Some of you in your squad are coming with me and they are there no way no way they're coming with you I'm loosened them in the street while I fight y'all probably got a Bo staff in one hand and a gun and the other and they're gone you're never going to find them but some are coming with me to the next life and the next life. I will continue to hunt you. I Will Ron Wick until they stop giving me more lives to chase you with you dog thieving fuck. This is this is messed up though is actually really fucked weird thing. There's an estimated one million dogs reared on farms to literally be consumed in the same way that we raise cattle every year in the south in South Korea. No way but apparently, that tradition is gradually fading out even though it's long been considered a delicacy on the Korean Peninsula. Dog, meat is popular why I wonder why in some places it looks terrible. Frankly That's what I was. GonNa. Say I wonder why in some places dogmeat became a delicacy will and other places they're reared as a humble and serving pet to be your best friend. How does that happen decadence capitalism I have no idea if you show me a picture of. Two puppies in a cage? Yeah. There's not that many more ways to get me upset in fact, if you sat me down at a desk and you were like pop, here's a photo of a dude. No, let's make it a elderly woman who got smoked by a car on the highway pop. Here's a picture of picture of to living dogs in cages dead elderly woman on highway who got smoked by eighteen wheeler to living dogs in cages. Okay. I'm more upset by the ladder. because. They're in a cage. All woman is with long life. Yeah. What the fuck what you do doing on the highway. Where trucks are yeah. That dogs in the Cages Sarah mclachlan song. In. My head, it's a nightmare. Nightmare that is that's the lead leadoff song on my favorite Lewis. Songs that are impossible to have sex to. It's followed by the Blue Song. Oh I like that Song All's impossible have sex to the is it is it I'm in need of a guy. I'm Anita. Honestly, I enjoy the song more not knowing the words. Okay. I don't think anybody knows don't tell me the word. It's one of those things that we always talk about I've made it this far without knowing the words that song I might as well just tried to go the whole distance learning how to tie tie. Yes. Or me with Actually, I. Don't I don't think I think pretty much knocked every single thing on this earth out new. Well sure. Yeah. Maybe I don't know now that I'm thinking about it I think you'd pull off a right ear piercing think you should just go for it. Go for the one year. So you never want to say that way. If you sit that way, the whole pot, no other way other way sit that way the whole pod somewhere in here, and then like the last three seconds just slightly turn to show off a massive diamond on your ear. Hotline calls. Our numbers eight eight wr Bolan. We have put four calls from that number to play for you today. Mr Chris would you throw on your headphones if you would and we will play our first one a little too right now Yoho Rawson Kohl's what am I G Cove had feeling a little lonely recently not really going out much. So I'm about to start law school something new Arash. Had A quick question. would it be weird to? Like maybe talk to the girls that are undergraduates like juniors and seniors maybe 'cause I know where I'm going to school it's like. The majority of the people here are going to be undergraduate. So I feel like. It'd be a lot easier to more people that way. So. that. Said Okay Also. Once I graduate. Let me be the are repeat lawyer I'll get you done piece. Okay the question. Why don't again don't play it again don't do that. Nobody wants to hear it again. Already heard the call need that energy. So is it? Okay if you're in law school or Grad School to talk to girls who are undergraduates like Juniors And Seniors may be is his question now. I would just point out. dudes. Are, concerns right now are like thirty five year olds going after seventeen or eighteen year olds Kristalina style. And then like half the country believing that all of Hollywood is sneaky pedophile and trafficking children for the purposes of sex. So you're likely slightly portly starting to slip physically because of booze and books. Then that becoming more important than Bison and tries you up some juniors and seniors. which would make them like what? Twenty twenty, one years old. That's absolutely not a conflict twenty, one, twenty, two. Because you're what? Twenty three to twenty five even if you're. I would say even if you're like twenty, six, twenty, seven, even like twenty, one, twenty two, not necessarily that big deal. Oh, the biggest thing is. It's all situational too as long as they're not like freshmen that just got to college in. They've been there for like one month and it's weird. Then it's weird 'cause they haven't even gotten used to getting moved in and living always going on you're literally there. Yeah. You're there only latched to this area in the school and everything like that creepy will ball is super creepy. But as long as they've been there for a couple years and they're comfortable where they are and they're developing a life on their own for their sell themselves and they've reached kind of the same maturity level and also I'd say girls tend to mature quicker than guys do so a twenty five year old guy. Probably, on a similar maturity, level two, twenty, three, twenty, two, year, old girl I would guess most of the time you get different I mean just depending mature physically more quickly. I don't think guys and girls mature one way or the other on it's just totally person by person. Circumstantial for me like I know dudes who were my age that are like twelve emotionally, and then I know dudes that are your age that are like my age emotionally. I thought you were one of them and you got that nose ring. You know I don't know what the fuck to think fucked everything up I threw it all down the drain making so much progress. Ms Actually guidance so much momentum and you full Dennis Rodman it's been a pleasure being the last. Set seven eight. Of the ROSPA in podcasts you look you had a good run now just get some boards, roses terminated my employment as I did not see the no nose piercing clause subsection for a was already. Got To pay attention but GRUDEN ME. seriously. Like I. Okay. I remember in high school when I was I thought this was a creepy thing. If you're a senior in high school when you were like hitting on a freshman, it was like Dude Stan your that there's a huge maturity gap between freshman to senior year of high school. Maybe I would argue that there's a message we're not talking about like because situationally, we can't define the maturity of every single just from an age thing. Okay. But in that case, you're talking fifteen years old eight isn't the power dynamic it a senior freshmen in highschool is creepy and we would just be like pissed off like you're creepy fucking six fifth year deviant like in college same shit when the older dudes came back. And we'll talk to the younger girls. It was always like, oh, come on can't you stick to your own age, your age range and? Now that I've been the real world for a decade. I realized on the creepy scale. Those are sort of not that concerning there. It's like there's a certain type of person. That will either swing way up in age or swing way down and sometimes it's totally fine. But when it comes to like our caller's question, you're totally fine. If. You're few years away from each other in basically the same realm of life like that doesn't creepy for me and look we're talking about creeping here. Not Legality. Obviously, you have to stick with the legal age of consent and wherever the hell you are at the very least. At the very least. But. For the sake of just talking about like is this creepy you're not. In College, you can't really go wrong unless you're like a fucking professor an age like should if you guys are in the same social circles like let me put it this way if you're at a party and you approach a girl that you think is cute and you start talking and you're hitting it off and you're having good conversation and stuff like that, and you don't know her age I mean as long as if she's in that same social circle and she's at that party, she's probably around your age similar and at that point, it doesn't. It doesn't even matter. Yeah, and if she's not just fucked but as long as we're hoping that you know people are there that are supposed to be there and she's not just like some young kid that somehow found a way to a college parties yeezus which happens all the time by the way it does but. As long as that's not the case like you've already made it this far the age is a really important at that point as if you guys are hitting it off and enjoying each other's. You're probably totally fine. You're going with the Ricki Ricky pretty ricky age is just a number argument innocence but again, obviously like if she's eighteen in your thirty, that's probably not what you're looking for just weird man. Go Look Powell the Jerry Seinfeld's wife was married her. I don't really want to know that next call. Have you ever looked up Leonardo DiCaprio's girlfriends and how they even though he gets older every single year they stay like twenty two. Not, it's just a stork. He only dates runway models through the same age as always been he keeps getting older they stay the same age exact here does. This is coal from Jefferson City Missouri I am I'm calling to inquire about his potential future opening at long media as a personal chauffeur. And I just wanted to throw that out there because I have a driver's license I have several years of driving professional my belt and I feel very confident. I can drive almost anything. With four wheels or three or two depending on the situation that we could find ourselves and you know you never know. just wanted to throw it out there. I can get you pointed point be any very safe, comfortable, and fashion and would be honored and privileged to take on that task if you ever decide that as you'd like to take so. Hitting at boy. All right. Thanks for you time. It's been a pleasure and hopefully hoax back sometimes. He's out man. Okay. So Cole. Eventually wants to be. My personal professional chauffeur. Me Talk about this shit. I don't I don't drive anymore have my panic disorder specifically goes after. Me When I'm driving, I don't know why it just does doesn't matter in the passenger seat driving on the highway or it just it just any long distance like the further I get away from my house the more likely it is to occur. So I just basically quit driving unless I'm driving like a couple of blocks to either my buddy who lives in my neighborhood house or the gas station or like the pharmacy. Some right there in the grocery stores a couple blocks away I'm not driving periods like Uber or Kohls give me ride or somebody picks me up. One of my other people gives me ride like I do I do not drive. So I was speaking to how eventually like when we blow bowling media, it's like two thousand and thirty eight. When I can afford it I need a driver and then I, need a car that suits a driver. So I'll have to have like a phantom or some shit that like you don't drive yourself, you get a driver for that Cole is the first person that is applied. which I think puts him first place for this job he has a commercial driver's license. Several years of driving profession is built several. Okay. Says he can pull off four wheels or three wheels which puts them in a place where you can drive the slingshot, which is huge. Dumb, and dumber style. Yeah we've all we all know people in thousand is the one we'll we doing the slingshot or dumb and dumber style. We just ride around on two wheels and I can just piss all over his back and I just looked up a sidecar to attach to the two-wheeled beasts that we get. So all three of us can go nicely and calmly anywhere we need to go Kohl's taking his wherever we need to go. It's cold outside he stays warm because pee on him and you cuddle him and grab his nipples. I. Grabbed a cup his breasts slightly from behind I'm not a stomach went on like this I grabbed I grabbed chest. Now, not in like A. Creepy, well, that's Probably got good grips from me exactly and I'm sure he would enjoy that too. Yeah. Great Hands Every any woman that I've ever been with will tell you that great hands. Man. It's going to be fine. Coal. Co. where we're to have you on the roster for potential drivers for bowling media let me cut your man breasts school. Keep practicing on the three two and four wheeled machines stay up to date on your driving skills, as well as mersal driver's license up-to-date as well to to be a commercial driver. Do you have to practice opening the door and a smooth fashion? Do you think he just goes to his door everyday? Just gets a couple quick hundred reps on the door handle. I duNno, it's a good cause. You can't fuck that up you need. For me to like every morning when you're letting me in the car, you have to have a tight line to deliver like good morning Mr the morning Mr Boden. Also I didn't hear an accent emmy and newspapers going to need an accent for sure yet can do like a really shitty Australian accent just like really offensive one that's what my that's what I put my my Siri on I make I make her Australian and honestly heard sometimes sounds like shit. How much you gonNa cost me though man, let me know you sound expensive. Frankly seven years of experience commercial driver's license. What's this gonNA. Cost me a year annually please a hauler my email. Ross Ross Bohlin PODCAST DOT COM. So I can start to try to work you into the twenty thirty eight budget I appreciate you. We have two more calls to get to very quickly so I will play the first one now here it is. Their. US. This is Alex Village Texas again. You know. I gotta say Ross, what do you have to like? How would you explain Ross from friends to like little kids named Bras today? Like right now like is you have to tell them why the name was such A. Like a bad the say, like the two thousand because with from friends like how would you explain that to them? You you know they're named Rustu and. Like what are they supposed to be like you know? Shunned. because it runs from friends. I don't know give them. Some other words would say thank you again. Great Call. Thank you for making it. was trying to play stuff. Defoe is Apple Apple. What are you doing? Quite fuck me. fucking with me always always always messing with here. Serious ridiculous boomers technology I. No longer feel like I need to defend my name. There are enough of us. We've got five of us on one fucking soccer team for God's sakes. I've been doing my show. I've been doing my thing on the Internet for a decade. Come. This January. If I haven't fought long and hard enough. To on sully. The good name of Ross. By Ross Geller. Then I don't know what to say what I would tell the any small boy named Rossi's as you can do whatever you want. You can achieve anything you put your mind to no longer. Are you held back? By this prancing doofus on friends who couldn't get it together with Jennifer Aniston. The good thing is gin Z. Scum like myself don't even watch friends anymore exactly. These kids don't even know Ross killer. So let's stop bringing it up and pretending ever existed. There's a new generation of Ross. We start this today from now on I say from now on moving forward, we no longer give Ross Geller the power to bring down the great name of Ross ever again exactly what we did with Weinstein in the robe, he's not his name and his image from the robe lifestyle we saved the robe. With we saved Ross David does not have to hold back anymore man he's who tenant sobel from band of brothers Ross Geller never even happened, and now that the shit's only on Hbo Max Motherfuckers, you don't even have it anyway nobody's watching friends anymore. CEELO. netflix's anymore doesn't eat NA. Thank play for this generation. They don't give a fuck. Nobody has five friends that live together. It has a fucking laugh track. Yeah. So What's the show with all the nerds it everyone watches Big Bang theory. So does Big Bang theory never that's another one I've never seen the show. I'll watch the laugh track. Never, ever watch biggest. Either fucking what's his name and the being a rapist tied was a rapist. Hide. I mean look. Look at Hyde and season eight and tell me that guy wasn't frankly hide. I don't think he was a pedophile. Okay. Frankly high is a rapist allegedly always. Looked like he might be a deviant. Looking back in hindsight, which is always twenty twenty. Captain Hindsight. But the Ross thing is no longer if I feel like acting like it's like the Germans trying to explain World War Two Jin Z. Children. That's not the case with Ross like we're good we don't have to excuse this guy there's enough of us at the front lines as good solid Ross's representing before it was like we had like three dudes Ross Perot Rush Geller. and Ross Tucker. Now. There's like at least nine of US kick ass and prince have been off the air since the fuck in early two thousands I think at a minimum. No longer, do we have to be ashamed by this man next and final call of today's show? Are you ready for it? Look at that? Yeah. High looks like he would do all of the crimes frankly here. Crumbs. Up It's Jay Sam Club from twitter ship listening to Friday John and I wanted to say the invisible ink text message. Same thing is awesome for group chats when you don't WanNa do spoilers. And Kohl's the story about the. No Confetti is just fucking great and I love it. I can't get Enga-. All Right J. Bone Fan club on twitter. He's talking about colds brought up on Patriot on how he got. He did you was it that you sent? For, you received a received see I was in hot water and I was trying to make up for my. I. I did something bad that had pissed off a nice woman that I was looking to court at the time and in my courtship process I asked if she would like to go get lunch to discuss the bad deed that I had once done and to correct my wrongs. Okay and she sent me back a message that said, no, would you blow a kiss at another chick with Confetti? No honestly, I've only done that once ever in public, but we can just keep running with that as long as we'd like to watch never just at the time in my head ever occur and the only time I ever did in public is when we were on the boat and we were passing a another boat full of. Public. You would do it in private. It's even weirder to do in private. To private. You know like if you were with a girl like hanging out and you just went. In. You blew her a kiss. She'd be like are you on fucking ecstasy right now that's when they usually jump all over. You mean, what are you talking about? You never tried that until you try obviously can't blow obviously he's never done a Campbell kisses. His you know with Confetti. Because yeah. Yeah that was pretty. Disheartening, obviously hilarious I need to start implementing more of these dramatic effects these bubble effects with the bubble effects you've got four options swam. Loud K.. Gentle. Which I've never understood with that psych. What are you send a gentle with the little soft it's like that's like that's the that's the online text message equivalent of blowing the kiss. Chris me up or invisible ink, which is our caller was talking about. Very under utilized absolutely great for avoiding spoilers but also incredible for nudes Chur. I didn't know this feature. It's not tested out though yeah. We we sent a couple of back and forth to each other to see what it would be like you're using blue dot com code BP and the The result was caused making a joke like it's like a scratch and sniff. Second Scratch. Off Ticket for a nudity. Cities and vaginas winning the lottery every time I win the lottery with every stroke. Here's the great thing about exactly the great thing about the invisible ink nude. Is that you receive it, you get to have the scratch off fund making it visible to yourself. Sure and then after you've received it and you've made it visible yourself and you've taken the new through the is it goes back to being an invisible ink and you're not endanger just opening your phone in just somebody's been flashed with the Dawn you just received in my case, it's always dogs So yeah, you WANNA, go invisible ink on the news maybe on something that's spoiler. Heavy your voice having all watched the last episode of the great or Perry Mason, and to Y'all Wanna discuss, it will then say I'm throwing out invisible ink with spoilers do not scratch and sniff this unless you are caught up, you know win the nude invisible ink thing would really help late night sexting. Because, you know one if one party falls asleep, you don't WanNa get woken up with the first thing in the morning just being full new. That's a lot just to any any well. I totally no disrespect -ment to men or our bodies but I I want to wake up to a female's nudity. That's lovely. That's a great day started just not a dick or I don't think anybody wants that. I definitely, I definitely know I'm sure some people do but like looking at a Dick to start your day a penis like a close up penis. First thing in the morning high definition I don't believe there's very many people living who want that. I feel like there's probably more than you would think but percentage wise like it's small I would say okay. That's what she said. Percents. Also screen affects. There's the confetti that calls got sent with the no, but there's a bunch of these. I never use any of these balloons say the balloons I use a lot I like the balloons there's celebratory they float up. There's a spotlight spotlight never use one I used it yesterday really are fantasy football group is still arguing about whether or not we're gonNA, pull out this draft live or not due to cove it obviously sure and then I just started the one guy I said idiot and I put a spotlight on it. Nice. Just one word in I can spot idiot that was great. Everybody gives you the laughing reaction I. got a couple. Couple of laughs on my idiot, that's huge. You need you need to get if what? What's your? What's your ratio here? If you got six people a text cruiser, let's say it's ten people have an even number. How many people have to Ha-? You joke for you to feel great success success one third. Third I'm like, okay. This was this was a good one. Yeah. It's like a tweet like right now my my old before being on the show and everything like that if I got like eight likes on a tweet. Homerun did that that's a good one. tweet now it's a little bit more but the you have your baselines and I would say for group messages, it's one third. If you're getting one third reactions, you made an impact. There's also fireworks which you feel very celebratory lasers I feel like should pretty much only be used if you're discussing getting fucked upper partying like what other messages sending with the lasers are necessary unless you're saying specifically, he's giving dinner I'm going to go slant observatory concert funerals. Lasers for funerals for. Funerals to. Balance. You know you all you some positivity in levity. On the negative the girl that sent me the No. With Confetti immediately I was like, how can I be upset with Confetti, falling on my you're let down but then there's confetti. Celebrate something. So I celebrated getting down and I drunk myself to sleep that night. There you go. Yeah. So fireworks and lasers for funerals spotlights for when you want to call somebody out and call them in idiot. But there's all sorts of effects and none of them. None of us are using the night. Would you use slam for? Emphatic No. Okay. If somebody asked me a question and I wanNA fucking. Smack them down with the no trying to think of question I could ask you I'm trying to think I was trying to think of a question I could ask you that I would get an emphatic no from you and get the slam down can I pierce the other side of my nose? Emphatic No. Really to get an emphatic? No kidding. Could I dye your hair blond while you're sleeping? Would that get an emphatic? No. How how hard is it to get my hair back? I would slam the no on you for sure. Okay. That'll do it for our hotline calls the Numbers Eight, eight eight W. R. B. O. L. E.
