"And also the comment I want to make is what tried to get back to you on the 13th of August to wish you a happy hate Mac Hamilton day from the great state of Tennessee. And hey, it's funny. I didn't have a chance to talk to him. I was walking really quickly and we walked by somebody the other day, I was with John Tulsi and somebody said hello, and I just waved. He said that was Mike Hamilton. He now works. Who does he work for? He works for somebody in the intercollegiate athletics platform. He's a former AD at Tennessee. Yeah. Yeah. And one of the questions I want to ask you is about the NCAA and the sanctions that they're going to put in place on Tennessee is why is it taking so long for the NCAA to come through and make a decision? This is they were there during all the interviews and took statements from everybody. So what's the hold up within CW? An opportunity I had in November, I was speaking to a group of people in Knoxville and the Chancellor came down, the one that fired Pruitt and we briefly talked about it although she didn't it was just an attitude I got from her Chancellor ploughman that they were getting closer to the end of, I think they're part of it. I think we're going to have to see some sort of agreement with the NCAA because it's a complicated case and Tennessee has hand delivered to the NCAA the goods and in return you would expect them to grant Tennessee some leniency. We will take a break more to come, Pete thanl right after this. You are listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. At our podcast, ESPN daily, we ask questions that reveal the deeper side of sports. Did you hear from a certain former president? That's what I'm here to.

"Larry elder show. Thank you so much for calling. Merry Christmas, Larry. Merry Christmas, William. Thank you. Listen, I usually agree with you on almost everything. I have a little bit of a challenge for you perhaps. Historical not ideological, so you mentioned that in George Washington's day, the press might have been worse than it is today, but I'm thinking that one of the root causes of our problems with the media today is the fact that we have in the country, all of these news outlets that are left leaning or some are right leaning, but especially the left leaning ones, but they present themselves as mainstream, whereas in George Washington's day and really up up until when I was a kid I remember they were papers that would expressly call themselves the Democrat gazette or the Republican times or something like that. There was one in upstate New York where I live in New York, but not upstate. But anyway, there was one in upstate New York called the press Republican. Arkansas, Democrat. You know, we don't have that today, and I think that's one of the problems. But in George Washington's day, the press was decidedly partisan as far as I know. Maybe you can correct me on that. I think you have a good point. I think I would put it this way. In Washington's day, while the press was partisan, there were equal parts partisan. On the left and on the right if you could use those terms. Here we have The New York Times, they have not endorsed a Democrat for president since 1956, The Washington Post never has, and I mentioned that book call left turn that came out a few years ago. Look at the top 20 sources of news. 18 of them were center left. The only two that were right was the Washington times and the nightly news with Bret baier on Fox outside of that overwhelmingly dominated by the left. You probably did not have that in Washington Jefferson Hamilton's day. Right. Well, that part of my point, but also the fact that we have so many people in the country who believe they're getting mainstream reporting from CNN or from The New York Times or The Washington Post what they're getting is left wing pablum, whereas I believe that years ago, you knew what you were reading. It was clear. Again, William, I think that's a legitimate point. I really do. I think people who watch CNN believe that CNN is farron balance is not nonpartisan when in fact it's not. You know, the Washington New York Times headline is there a signature line is all the news that's fit to print. That's horse bleep. You and I both know it's horrible. They don't have a single member of the editorial board who's a conservative. LA time, not a single member of the editorial board, whose conservative. They don't have a single local conservative columnist. So you're right. People think it's fair, but it's not. Right. Well, that's my, I guess that's my greater point. And that's something that we need to stress over and over. But I appreciate everything you do Larry. You got to get the.

"I'm completely in italy joe king. I don't think that's what we should do. It was because the reason why it was so interesting because we had so many calls out of order. And i'm sure that for the gimmicks amongst probably going to be shouting for well. This is the exact reason why we should have reverse grids again not something that i'm a huge fan of but that was the reason why we got so much action and to be honest i didn't and i look and i we. We tend to rate the races on this podcast. Sometimes and i very often say that. I base it on the fact that you know how. How much of my attention did it keep. How how often was i looking for things on social media or anything like that and i genuinely was gripped for the entire race. And that's quite an ask so again cause a bit of variability with the with the weather and the sonata on the situations the fact that teams actually really seem to have too much information on tire deg this this year. So we was that. Come into play. The fact that the mediums kind of found a second life span later on in the race when people on the heart or starting to struggle. It all made everything really variable and teams really hot to get the stress. She heads on in order to make headway and not to not to forget that we had quite a few drivers taking a new power units as well. So we're starting at the back and having to fight their way forward in order to take point time for their team so it was just that level of variability i think grunted us an exciting saatchi and twenty twenty one. If you told me that we'd be sitting here saying that. Both the french grand prix on the russian grown pray were potential highlights of the season. I would think you were crazy. But here we all is twenty twenty one hundred wins for lewis hamilton. How did he win the rice. Let's try and work out. Because his worst he was down seventh as the leading pack started to pits. So that was for calling in science at the end of that thirteen. He rejoined just in front of stroll. Although the undercut was was powerful he couldn't signs despite that slow change for ferrari the early stops ready for science stroll and russell meant that ricardo hamilton peres had no choice but to stay out to avoid coming out behind them again until the rain arrived. Luke how did lewis. Hamilton go from dropping down to seven. Point is worse to able to get into position but when the rain came he could capitalize and jump landing. Well is really the the the undercut wall initially powerful as he signed allowed strokes the jump russell for example it didn't have a long lasting effects and it wasn't enough to everybody to jump in and follow seats are we saw that. I think most plainly with science nor science. He really struggled with grinding the end of that first. That's why he came in when he did. He lost a lot of time to norris before coming in and had the undercut being radiated pie. Full mclaren had no choice. But it's reacts pretty quickly and bring morrison as well but they didn't they just kept going and kept going because landau sounding actually pretty chill on the radio saying you can go for another ten laps or whatever and we saw with nurses times compared to science so they are pretty much even even though science had these fresh ties on so it was really just about avoiding not grading which is something that mercedes were able to do with lewis. Hamilton's cars so and then the by the time. The earlier pitchers had got out of the way we were left with ricardo leading from hamilton. Even though hamilton couldn't get posture kado newsradio really struggling. He was still going quickly enough to ensure the it wasn't going to be a massive deo towards Towards the answer still reiko basically and amend the when hamilton day coming. Although i was a few software called his pace again have been quick enough by the time he got into that claire. Any undercut recorded might get just didn't work basically so only know that laid out the cars basically they just norris ahead of him on track can he was left with open road and then we really saw him. Put the hammer down his ties. We're only two laps older sets yet times. He was taking a good sort of six seven tentative second album per lap i even higher points nor sometimes a little bit of traffic ahead of him. I was also held up a little bit by alonso towards the end of the sort of dry phase is. The rain's coming in again allowed. Get a little bit closer. And all we've seen a gap who've i think it was eight point eight seconds at its peak. Dropped all the way down to just one second and we're thinking is he gonna get drc gonna get drs and then we look to the ground stance and we saw the rain jackets carrying on the umbrellas. Gone up and we knew that it was about to get spicy. Yeah i reckon it was with about twenty two laps to go. Just the i thought right here we go. This is all all the cards have been played now. We know the the leaders of the race. That time surprise alonzo Leclerc they were running really deepal now. Hard tires That started on gasoline. Had as well but they all failed off. So as luke says you left with fifteen laps to go that was down to one point seven seconds of the late and then it seemed to stall because the way that lewis was catching landau with those between twenty two to fifteen laps to go. I thought his pace. He's either gonna take all this tires and blow it but we know lewis is so good on time management. I'm like well lewis has got. This was my my take on that state until the hamilton charge stalled. How were you feeling at that stage of the race. I think it's very easy to go out and say these is. The is the fastest about packages. Scott hamilton is seven time world. Champion is going to breeze pass. And you know we kept seeing that graphic pop-up aws graphic saying striking distance in five laps and everyone landau was inland. Is cam would probably getting a bit. Squeaky time butts butts. That mclaren still does have mercedes power at. We know it's slippery. And i think i said going into this race. If anybody on this grid of the top three burying my we pretty much knew russell would would would fall away. I would put my money on london. Norris keeping lewis hamilton at bay. We've seen it multiple times a season already. He he is a very very good defender. And he doesn't seem to crack under pressure when it's placed on him especially by the seven time world champion. So i actually was thinking as long as landau doesn't make mistakes as long as he positions that mclaren where it needs to he could hold on to the end Because as as as you know landa started responding not by much but he was keeping that gap to the point where it was manageable and if he could keep that for as you say you know fifteen laps to guy would have worked. How i k- i mean. We'll never know because as you said the rain came and then we had the crucial decisions being made the lead to What we what we now know to be the one win for loselle. We saw in asia of the mercedes. An is very different circuits to saatchi of course but actually when you get stuck behind the mclaren. That doesn't have the benefit of downfall. So they do run a lower downforce sets up the actually. It's not easy to pass even when you're in d. r. s. range jess. What's your gut feeling on how it would have played out without the rain. I would put my money on london or staying out head. He's such a good defender. I would've. I would put my money on him. Keeping them at bay. Unless i mean we started to see a couple of mistakes was only when the track psyching slip e so until that point he unperfect wrong and just i i would put my money on land holding lewis at bay which is quite a big thing to say when talking about london norris i is low thomasson but i think as i said we've had enough evidence to to see that i would i. That's how i would be interested to know what luke things. Because that's how i would have play out one hundred percent landau holiday. I think we saw the lewis was okay. It was making those gains but then when he got around so at one point three seconds. Cy landa them responded. He sat faucet. Sloppy was setting and know pretty much neck really with the they were doing. So i think the although lewis would have had the.

"And i think that's what's really important for me for me. Formula one is a very emotional Racing series. I mean mode. Sport in general is a very emotive historical sports. So i guess that would be taken away to me. So i think that's why people are getting quite passionate about it and as you say vessel is so supremely caught up in the history of the one which is a really lovely things to watch when you're watching a modern day driver. So yeah. I think that's why people are quite upset about it. Alex your take on statistics. Coming out the caveat. That's that's caveat is another word where our audience are required to take a drink in the drinking game. Should we add the caveat. That the fifa mealy ratifies pole position and is the fastest driver on in the qualifying session. He sets it absolutely absolutely. I think yeah. I think it's just gonna seems to me that so easy to create another category for another little star. I mean formula one. Is this high tech sport. That's all about these little bits of information and data and just changing it for soulless reasons of where with its whatever we could have two penalty apply. I think he's the person from the great doesn't really feel right. I mean you think that michael schumacher at monarchy in two thousand twelve. He's wrong he's not credited with that position because of his great penalty. Fantastic driving to the mercedes which is not the dominant call and that point on pogo ramonica. Say it was. Yeah he just leaves a bad taste in the mouth if we sort of turned out for further down the the finishing order or the starting order of tomorrow. Obviously we've we've covered maxwell snapping and lewis hamilton. Shall we consider the tragic case of voluntary bodies. Asu krisztian horn fetched out his wooden spoon. During the channel four broadcast furiously started stirring the pot by saying mercedes thrown valerie under the bus by making him start on soft tyres which i could be wrong but that turned out to be a load of didn't it basically it was absolute nonsense. I did think when i saw what i starting the soft is just not like him. Is he actually upset. But no it wasn't. It wasn't a particularly outrageous decision. Because i think there is. I think the race tomorrow is going to be a one stop are and will be medium too hard but the other tentative offset oaten trashy. You'll be actually start on the soft and you would do probably around about seventeen laps anyway. So it's not. It wasn't an outrageous. Move if anything it was. It was a sensible move to get. The call is behind the red bull ahead. And i think it's kind of something. Do we tend to see red bull split strategies more And that's i guess maybe it's a point of where we're at in the season in the constructors mercedes trying everything to try and take it to marxist happen and so yeah i think i was similar. Dissimilar take of like really solves all. This could go wrong but at the same time we saw. How well that worked for fernando alonso and how well that worked for kimmy ryan and kate. It's a completely different battle that bad taking than than the having at the front of the of the pack. But it's it's just again to me looking back on it it was. I mean he still finished pay three so no love lost that like that's that's fine and It is again. I took it as mercedes trying defying an alternate stress. Chief full one of that drivers which is something that maybe we didn't see as much off when they were so dominant so we know that and correct me. If i'm wrong. Alex because you all the The sector person analysis person usually for practice in all that when. You're doing your Reports to me that maybe the mercedes with doing more sprint race relations on friday. They seem to be quite nervous. Or maybe not maybe nervous the wrong take. Maybe that's my kind of take a from a subjective point of view but they really wanted to try this right. They really wants to succeed. So i don't see that as a i think that's just a classic christian horner playing mind games. I think i think they were surprised to end up ahead of happening qualifying decision. I actually it was particularly. Fbi which was a maybe about completely meaningless in terms of almost no point to although i disagree mattress lap and he's he's come out with that and said well we shouldn't if we're going to do this spring qualifying format which give out with fda. And i think actually there's a lot of people who've paid money one guy around the tracks. Don't take that away from them just because you can't change the folks out of the car. I think you can still learn something about anything. Let's face it. But yeah i think i think yeah. Mercedes surprised to be head. They know their updates of help them a lot. And just yeah. I think they would just just trauma they couldn't sprint race and we'll see how not pay somebody tomorrow. I think we'll we'll we'll circle back to the the wider area shape of of the grand prix weekend. A little bit later. Be before we move onto that. Shall we consider the curious case of george russell having having gone through the rest of the top ten. We've we've we've covered charles leclerc. Should it be now with color sites arguably but not didn't happen. Nice a net one move forward philandering norris daniel ricard great right by fernando alonso also pretty under the radar good rice by sebastian battle but then george obviously had that. Pardon my Coughing it's not catching. It's an old one eight sort of had a slightly slightly clumsy opening opening-lap than some of the veterans did now. Is this part of the craft. That george needs to develop. Because we've we've looked starts in the passer. I don't want to be one of these people size. Oh i you know just just terrible house always goes backwards of the stop. You know just a captive outta that drivers do develop. It is an aspect of his craft. He needs to work. I'd say there's there's two elements to it one. Yes he does. We know needs to improve but also he struggles a lot because the williams car the package itself struggles went running in two thousand stretching the witnesses very very sensitive and also. We know that georgia's talks about something that he himself admits improve on is getting the walmart blah time preparation completely right because i think he feels a little bit hit and miss they know the procedures. It's just sometimes it just doesn't come off quite as well as it could it williams you know we saw a in In i think in france in the french grand prix was particularly talking about the. That's why fell backwards and danny has amazing race from there so i mean it's a little bit of yeah. He doesn't need to get better at certain things involving the star and the first lap but also. He's not helped by his car because he didn't have a problem on the first lap of the secure break the you straight into the lead lowestoft batas pretty well for one of the needs for starts but then i also saying bought us. Defense by mercedes has a little bit of a starting difficulty which we saw with lewis. Hamilton's day because he's come out and said oh my dog on the clutch. He thinks he's a perfectly good star. But there's something about that mercedes system of long suspected this. That's just a little bit. Not quite good just comes down to these time. Margins doesn't adjust that it's.

"And then it was kind of the same thing that we would see a times throughout last season to where the bucks just have this tendency. To for lack of a better phrase here, play with their food and you're never Reaching a point where you're not confident the bucks are gonna win the game. But you start to wonder what the final score is gonna be. And I mean, even tonight it was interesting that That three pointer was a very interesting three that the Pistons had to close the game out. Depending on whether or not you had an interesting for entertainment purposes only. Oh, it was a 10.5 point line that the books were favored by, But I mean it felt like that all night where You knew the books. We're gonna win. They were comfortably ahead. But then they would have these pockets where the offense just wasn't clicking. And here come the Pistons hitting shots and before you know it a 21 point lead is down to 11. I like watching the bucks win different ways. I don't mind if the score is sort of mucked up a little bit lower scoring than usual. We had that 190 win against the Cavaliers before the road trip. I don't mind seeing meat grinders. Chris Middleton didn't have a normal night off night shooting one of five from three just 12 points. But the bench really showed up. And this was more of a kind of an amazing thing in the first quarter tell like both the honest and Chris were off to a little slower starts and you'd expect but all of a sudden bring forms and Bobby Portis into the game. And they just go ballistic and knock down a bunch of shots. And you know the lead is in double digits rather handily, and it's at the half it's double digits. And then the honest came alive in the second half. But even if Janos his point total wasn't was, where was supposed to be Your usual He affected the game in so many ways tonight more so than the first quarter would indicate, given his assist numbers. I mean, he was involved in just about everything tonight for the Bucks. Yeah, I think the biggest takeaway that we've had from yon is so far this season is it's a different offense. It's It's the same defense at the running, but they're adding more principles and they're more apt to switch and they spent quite a bit of time talking about that After the magic game and even going back to after the Jazz game, I know Drew Holiday spent a lot of time talking about that, and how He's comfortable doing it, and I think it's going to take a guy like Drew holiday that For a number of fronts. You could say Look, we gave up a lot of capital to bring this guy in here. We know about his skill set. We know about his defense. This is something that he wants to do. And the players. We know we're gonna be here for a while, So if that's what they want to do, We're gonna have to do this right that we're gonna have to embrace this, so they have gone to more of a switching defense. Am, I think what's really noticeable is I don't think he honest. I'm not going to say he's uncomfortable, but he's not at 100% yet. In terms of a comfort level within this system, where you think back to the last two years, and it was like riding a bike where you knew Five games into the season. OK, Janos is back in the mid season swing of things, and it's probably gonna take some time to get there that He's got more people around the rim. Now that it's not just Janos attacking the rim. We're seeing him spend more time on the perimeter. We've talked about different angles and where he attacks at the top of the key from That's all changed, too, And I think it's going to take time that we talked about this team kind of gel in with all the new pieces. Yacht is getting used to this system and really figuring out what the best way for him to attack. With these changes around him is going to take some time to and we're not there yet. But for his numbers to be at least close to what he did in each of his last two M V P seasons, is certainly encouraging that you know he's not 100% not not health, but just with comfort. And he's still putting up some pretty darn good numbers, so I would expect the offense to continue to get better, which is nuts to say for how good they've been this season. But we're spending a lot of time talking about the defense and the improvements coming there, and I think Bud mentioned it before the game as well. I would expect the offense to get better for that reason that your best part of the offense isn't fully there yet. 85561616 20 ft like to join us on the program. The Pistons will beat the Bucks when Well, what you fill in the blank of the program tonight. Let's talk to Dell in West Allis. You're on bucks. Talk Del. Welcome to the program. You guys. Um, I think the Pistons might meet the box again when they're able to draft Deana says, son. So he's gonna have to grow up and stop and go to college and then yeah, so So you're looking at? Let's see what will the NBA looked like then? So it may be a 17 year period, perhaps for the for the Pistons, that all they have to wait. Yeah. Yeah, I thought I'd get creative with an answer. So you know, Yeah. Give or take you give or take. Um, but Janos Asana in the N B. A. I could see that. Why not? It has been awhile for the Pistons. Have to look because there is a stretch Justin where the Bucks could not beat the Pistons. This is probably The time Detroit very wisely moved away from the teal blue flaming steel horse uniforms and went back to second. That was a little bit more representative of the bad boy era. This is probably the Rip Hamilton Days Post. Joe Dumars, Then Wallace. I mean, there was a stretch where nobody was beating the Pistons. Nobody was scoring 110 on the Pistons at that time that steer point where they'd run into each other in the playoffs and It was ugly from the start, but we've come a long way from those days. Yeah. I mean, that was nobody was scored 110 period in the NBA back then. Yeah. And Really? From what the for probably 4 4005 through. 2012 13 14 ish in that range. That's probably the window you're talking about. Where all right, the bucks. It's probably not gonna be there night many of these nights against the Pistons, especially that run where Detroit was. Seemingly going to the conference finals year after year after year and and then we saw the opposite in the mid to late nineties, where Detroit was wearing those great by the way, teal uniforms Yeah, the box they're bringing in George Karl and, uh, and having their playoff run, So you have never really been on the same page here. These two franchises except for the eighties. Everybody in here, stat. I know you all like stats. So let me give you something,.

Denver will move left to right underneath that of the two and brought out on now reversing field and running all the way back to the five yard line is Deante expensive? That is a horrible way to start the game end of a stake there that you just can't make a flag on the play. Stay optimistic until I want to see if they get something going here. Lindsay in the game two lakhs, right. Quick Throw just caught by day Shawn Hamilton fumbles the football and it is recovered by the Raiders. It is time for me to abandon that idea about staying optimistic Devin Lawson on the recovery. If in fact this is world catch, it is ruled to catching a fumble on the field. We'll take a look at it after a few of the ruling on the field stands as a catch, fumble recovered. Good bye, Las Vegas first out. I don't get that. But I just listened based on the replay saw me in a hole. Hopefully, I'm coming to this from an unbiased person perspective. But Thought Jason's Hamilton Day Shawn Hamilton, right knee was down with him still in possession of the ball hand off running left side. Josh Jacobs will walk into the end zone touchdown, Las Vegas five yard run and that's the play, I think. When I said earlier that Jason with head you could hear from our mikes. He had talked to the Raider sideline about their pitching Everything inside. We've got to get to the edge. Jacobs is the kind of back that could do that on a plate designed to go inside. You simply reads that and it's steps outside of the edge. Blitz on the way Locket is he throws that ball will be intercepted. Intercepted by Nick Got quiet, Kowski. That is the fourth interception of the game for Drew lock and that is gonna do it with 18 seconds. Left in this game, Daniel days this curse there, man. I gotta tell you something, It's just bad. It's just add welcome in its big Alan judge on K Away News Radio, a 50 A M and 94 1 FM everywhere on the free I heard radio app. It is not a It is not a celebratory victory Monday. It is just Exactly what Monday is for most people. Mondays are horrible. And, uh, it's no different for Broncos country today. When you lose to listen, it's one thing to lose to a team that was obviously way better than you. But With all the opportunities that were provided to do better in this game. It's worse that when it when it's the Raiders, and it's a team in your division, and it's ah Yeah. Man. Just just not good. You didn't get one text for me. You didn't know I why was just completely disgusted. Let me let me let me say this. I mean, let's just say this so that we could get it out the way okay? And I think anybody who's watching we'll understand what I'm about to say. We got our coach yesterday. Okay. We got all coach yesterday. And the way the reason that you know we got outcoached yesterday because we lost by 25 points to the Raiders. There's nothing that says that the Raiders are 25 points better than us. We took a L, uh both on offense on defense and on special teams. We got it handed to us yesterday by the entire radar organization. And what's interesting about this, Alfred is is something I brought up on game day yesterday with you. And that was what Jon Gruden had to say about about this team, he said. We don't do anything fancy. We basically play a brand of old school. Smash mouth football. And you want to know what the Raiders did? They played a brand of old school smash mouth football. I mean, there was not. There is no trickery. There was no I didn't feel like there were any gotcha place. They just executed? Yeah, they beat us up. They beat us up and We couldn't hold up long enough for the offense to get going, and yesterday was It was a wake up call. It was a wake up call for the entire organization. Because there's been talk about what this means for The organization, the development of Jew lock and Him not having the kind of success that we hoped that he would have this year. Well, What ends up happening is that you end up hurting the rest of the team when the quarterback plays is poorly as Hey did yesterday because When you are looking for development of your football club, you're looking for improvements everywhere. You don't know if you have good Y receivers. If the quarterbacks bad you don't know if you have good offensive lineman, If the quarterbacks bad you don't know if you have good running backs, if if the quarterback is bad. And yesterday the quarterback quarterback was bad because of a host of things. One of them is that he doesn't know what he's doing yet. And that's To be expected of a young guy playing in this league. And we didn't give him many plays to help him get comfortable. You know your your philosophy of you had. There are two things that you say and you say often, and it could not be more true. Then it was yesterday. Number one. Your tools of the game. Yesterday was one thing and one thing only. It is all about what you do on first down first, Okay? It's all about what you doing first time, which, by the way, There was nothing done him first down the entire game. Nothing done him first down, and then something that you have been preaching since the very first day you got behind this microphone here on the flagship station for the Denver Broncos. All right. Easy throws it. Give him easy, girls. All right, Easy throws easy throws easy place, and I'm watching. I'm watching that game last night and I'm watching. I'm watching Play action screen screen screen. I'm watching those easy throws Easy throws. Music grows easy for us. We didn't have one of those right. I'm.

"They couldn't put together enough offense. Right when they had chances to close the game out, And I think that the single biggest drive the Bronco defense had the Titans pinned down on the fore. They had a couple of incomplete passes. Henry didn't have a run for not much. And they had to pump the ball. And the Broncos took over on their own 44 yard line. Excuse me on the Tennessee 44 yard line. Now. They took over with one point lead on the Tennessee 44 with four minutes and change at 406 to go. That's where you go down to score in. The game is yours, and that was the first down past. Was the one to Judy right in his hands. Yep. Right. Then they ran Melvin Gordon. Obviously trying to run some clock down. He has a game, too. And then on third, eight lakh through that deep pass on the West Side line that he had a show on Hamilton Day. Sean pulled up a little bit on the route, but it was incomplete. Then again that again. They punt the ball. Tennessee starts in there, 10! With three or five to go, and that was what turned out to be the winning drive. So the Broncos have a lead. Tennessee has the ball on their own 10 yard line with three or five to go. They're able to move all the way down the field and consume all but 17 seconds, so We got plenty of things to talk about nine 48th time. We continue in the phone lines. Dave Logan, Rick Louis with you and Mark is joining his son Kay away. Good morning, Mark. Hey, guys, how you all the day? We're good. Two observations and a question of my signal last long enough. Um, First of all, we were talking earlier about Jerry duty being a little bit gun shy. We had another guy, I think. Ah, Adam, Missouri undrafted guy number of years ago that Early in his career. I thought he was the same way and he turned out pretty good. You talk it, Rod Smith. There you go. Yeah, Undrafted Guy Adams right duties. Adam's very to any No. Judy's out of Alabama. Okay. Got it wrong. Any honey case? That was one observation. Another observation was I thought that the defense did a really good job with Derrick Henry through most of the game last night. L'd himto. Really not not a lot of yards early on. I need to. I thought the defense and Mark thanks cost that the defense was was stacked against him. Um There's so many things that you look back in the game, say, man. Oh, man, I'll tell you what sucks The life out of a team and coaches and fans and everything else is when you play a game. The effort certainly was there. And you look back and say I should've won this game. Right. It's the same thing I said last year when the Bears came to town. And it's the same thing are very similar to what I said last year in Jacksonville, came to town both two point losses, both on late field goals at home. And you know you, you look at you know the shovel past people talking about the shovel pass. He went for it on fourth and one. I think they probably just had a call that they liked. And we've had a texture that said, my only complaint from the 970. My only complain of the game is run the ball four downs on the goal line. No shovel passes, air throwing. Use your high dollar big back. Yeah, they did run. Two of those four snaps and they didn't drink a drop. Lindsay got one. Carrie For about a half yard. Gordon off the left side got stoned, And so that's something that they're gonna have to go back and look at. You've got to be able to line up and And get a yard when you have to get a yard, right, And that's to me. That's more of a mindset that anything else absolutely. Ah, and in your first game, I get what the texture said. If you want to be that team, you you probably run the ball with Melvin Gordon at least three times. I'm not sure why you'd run Phillip Lindsey down there on the one yard line when you got that big back back there, the big hammer. And he's a touchdown maker. That's what he does. That's what you're paying for. So that was that was a kind of an odd Siri's. I thought. And really Oh, no. Melvin Gordon, other than the the fumble, Hey, had a good game. I think you could see what they got in Melvin Gordon. Last night. He he's good. He's a good player. He has had a history of fumbles. As you pointed out during the broadcast saved, especially his rookie year. What I believe he had five fumbles. His rookie year. But for the most part after that rookie year of his, he's kind of clean that up. But that was a big one Last night there really heard of no wass because they had. You know you don't have complete control of any game in the first half. I mean, you do, but that's not the deciding factor there up seven Nothing. But again with Gordon's fumble. You're absolutely right. I mean, that gives time to see the ball in the Broncos. 23 are glint in your defense. Obviously, I mean, you could tell that they were going to play well last night. I think the injuries in the secondary Or factory. It's the end of the game. I mean, something that I don't think you ever want ever as an NFL coach. No disrespect to these young guys, and you know what? They're probably going to turn out to be really good players. You look out there and see Michael Move Ocean. Muthiah Ah, one corner, third round draft choice of rookie and you look out and see Isa. He sang Bassi, undrafted college free agent rookie on the other side. So that's you. That's you know, that's a mean bastard was playing in the slot. But that's what you get two rookies in the back into your defense. You know you're going to get some business. Yes, And they like both of those guys a lot. I woke up this morning and it and it kind of hit me. No, they've got they've got the Monte Harris. They've got duped us and junior to guys that played a lot of football last year, both of them on the bench. Once boy got hurt, Which kind of tells you How much they like. Oh, Jim Moody and Bassi. Yep. But I.

So I'd like to take this opportunity to announce my new line of defund the police beach towels. Oh, yeah. See, the beauty is you can go have a lie down protest. And if the man if hunky McGill starts to get all up in your grill, you just wave it around and announce that its a protest before he can put his steel toed boot on your neck. You stand up with the defund the police beach towel. And a permit. No, it's the first Amendment. That's what that's what governor data Science said yesterday. I heard that audio if you can find that I thought I heard a report this morning. But he was in some of the media are asking the very uncomfortable question. Of governor hairdo about? Well, what about the protests between June 1st and Junaid? And then again, the director of public Health in L. A county Morticia. She's been asked that too. And she dodged that. I mean she full on Gerry Shannon played the audio. Yesterday, Steve Gregory came in. We're gonna have him in at 11. He'll talk about it. I want to replay that, but he asked a very specific question. Which I think you'll find is the definition of a good question. And she dodged it. She you just You can't denounce certain crowds. Of course, if if I was tearing up Fairfax On June 5th. It's Hamilton Day That's on Disney plus today. And I'm going to take a wild stab and say Jo Kwan, not a dizzy plus subscriber. I know it's not a bad deal. I'm not well behaved family, okay? Yeah, it's funny. I have the only 11 year old who could not care less. About their mind bending content about their their kid kid content. She just doesn't There's nothing on there except Thor Ragnarok, Man. DeLorean, Um Deadpool wanted to okay? Yeah. Yeah, but Mandalore she's not into the Star Wars world. Oh, just not And so that's a that's a negatory on like I was mysteriously watching it on Sunday nights, and she'd be like, what is it even about and other things? I was like that for many, many, many, many years, I think when she gets older, you know, sort of the canon of that science fiction will get to her and all that. But as of right now, I mean the other night. Like Friday night. No, this is Friday. I don't know. Like like Monday or Tuesday night, They finally uploaded frozen too. And it came up and I looked at her and I said no, and she won. I've never seen frozen, she said. Not in the original is I held off until he heard Conway just gushed about it. And then we want thought it is great is it's really, really funny. The songs are great. Are not, you know, time wasters, but I've heard nothing good about frozen too. So I'm sitting there with an 11 year old who loved Olaf The snowman, you know, four years ago, but that's so four years ago, we were also went to the musical at the El Capitan. We're just terrific. I'm not. I'm not that guy. I'm not. I don't. I don't like people breaking into song out of context. However, it was terrific, really, really good, too great for kids, but great for adults. On all that I'm pretty much soundly. I'm horning for Disney believe, which is a new animated Siri's that will never come out for Disney. So anyway, everyone's excited. His Hamilton, which is was a stage production that they actually shot. In cinematic quality with multiple cameras for the purpose of releasing it in theaters. Disney is finally gonna release out today. So so there's II. I honestly couldn't tell you song in that thing. Never seen it. I know people have spent a lot of money and saw at the old gushed about it the whole thing so I don't know we'll we'll watch it. So that's that's exciting for me, Uh, Hamilton later on tonight at 10. 30. If you get the outdoor network, then you might be a fan of Hollywood weapons. "Other had said we know we're not going to participate you guys can work it out it that would have damaged in fact it probably would have stopped the whole idea of American developing does Europe now the European Union believes that it's permanently wounded or is it not talking about it right now Joe well I think that you know they they just aren't sure where the dangers will contravene that is an interesting parallel with American history because certainly in Alexander Hamilton's day they thought they had a very clear sense of who the enemy might be that it might be a foreign enemy to recruiting potentially written at the time wanted to make an effort to muscle back into the new American states there was the sense that you needed a federal government for protection I think that the real difficulty is that it is been hard now to to complete what problem a federal European Union is really supposed to solve and I think in until then you know they are going to struggle and remember the federalist papers were written directed and New Yorkers New York was one of the most prosperous states and one of the ones that really needed to ratify the constitution for work I mean someone needs to write a federalist papers for Germans are you're making an argument to them for what they can get out of a federal Europe if that project is going to succeed the other consideration and it's not about financing although everything eventually is about financing Madison made the case as I recall that the strong federal government is the way to ensure individual liberty is that a debate in Europe individual liberty I know I mean that part is completely missing in this is the other thing that people don't understand about American history we did not create a federal government a high in seventeen eighty nine just so that we could have won if you go back in you actually read the federalist papers if you read what the other founding fathers were saying at the time they thought that the whole point of having the federal government was to protect the individual liberties with version of fox so hard to win during the revolution so they thought that you needed a federal government to protect individual liberties from foreign aggression and they also thought that you needed the federal government to help balance the state to protect individual liberty by setting different bits of the government against each other and again that isn't really an issue here in Europe and in fact no one can really hear articulate what the year should be tearing this is purely economic and and market regulation doesn't interject into control member states to do that themselves on your is it political freedom not really that doesn't seem to be very much on the agenda what what is that well they puzzle for me Joe is if they are having this debate now it might be too late to have this debate that's a puzzle because Britain is gone rushes looking with you know it's licking its lips about parts of what Eastern Europe the Chinese are not absent from the scene because their opportunities say in the Balkans so your up right now because it doesn't hi my perception is that it doesn't trust a strong central St hi is prey to being pulled apart by other not physically pulled apart but persuaded to come to the allegiance of other powers that would be a catastrophe I think for those who have worked so hard for the European Union did they entertain that when they worry about the future that not just that we're gonna fail but that we're going to be divided up against each other by us the other powers there is definitely concerned about others with specially among more or or thinking people who don't want you to to splitter because they do think that there is safety in numbers again I think that it is possible to articulate a case with a federal European union that has better political control certain on the central powers in the house right now that has more democratic accountability that might be a good thing for for Europe it might also be a good thing for the rest of the world picked up that kind of a home you're strong power in Europe holding the continent together but I think that they are so far away from that that you really have to start thinking about what will happen if instead of finding some way that they can pull closer together they instead start pulling further apart Joseph Sternberg writes the political economics column for the Wall Street journal editorial page he's based in London and we're going to take a stroll in the parks of London and speak of the virus these weeks these months into the crisis worldwide crisis and also the tragedy in Minnesota is reflected in protests and ambitions in Europe especially in the United Kingdom I'm John bachelor this is the John Batchelor show.

It's time to get through them and would be exposed so I guess that was the strange thing. I almost didn't back the fact that they they should have they should have they couldn't prove at that stage. They had to his car in race conditions but the penalty was that they probably did and I always feel the need to kind what if back that but at the same song I understand the conditions that don't want so that's all year will they were sort of two averse to that potential downside and maybe you could argue that it blinded handed them areas is difficult to say that without having been in the room with them as it will ever previous the decision making process but it kind of from the outside looking in would have paid they they they would be too scared of that particular. Dan Suddenly blinded them to to the what actually happened in the end which was losing track position and it just seemed obvious that staying out annihilated say or were worth as a safety car in great but I think Lewis said on radio across the Finish Line Spacey said we don't turn second second into fourth and if he if they'd come in when everyone else had those oversee the charts to at least John Leclair and maybe still got a podium out of our I still think there's a legacy for Mercedes of two long spent just racing itself from working out how to pay its 'cause versus each elva that when they have the variables having to raise everybody else to say that is a problem of the people making the decisions decisions but I almost wonder if the processes to ponderous because in the past they have had plenty of time and they could afford in Hamilton and Rosberg years you can get your pitztal wrong by two or three laps but as long as each car did something similar you aren't really disadvantage anyone needing matter if causes twenty seconds behind you make up five during the pitstops pitstops but now when you can't afford that that's a window of of Kenya bit wrong is it just the the discussions the pit walls have him with the people back the factory. You're looking at data. Does it will take too long. Why why did they fail to spot the opportunity to come in a bit earlier today? Not feel feel the need to to lock assay to react in potentially caused claire even more trouble any option they went for in the end. There's just one again we sit and we can do nothing we do say I looked at a time and we've referred to this in the policies is the old Ferrari Kimi Raikkonen strategy of or we've Kinda. I missed the boat here. We'll just leave you out and see if something comes back to us which Freud doing their second call became a bit of a running joke. unfortunately for Reichen can Mercedes doing it with Lewis Hamilton and that doesn't sit right really so I think they they missed the boat and William frozen in how to how to react to that is the strategic equivalent Roland from back in the day that program prophecy ladder when people spent too much money doing up their house ended up having to live in it for a year while the market caught up. There's the itself into a corner where you have fewer choices naturally diner and and and maybe I think that that's been quite a few instances over the past few years where when something like this has happened a tie will for after the fact James Vowles will live to the fact that discussions were taking place or we were debating something at the time something happened and we miss the opportunity you look back at Germany and the pitstop Farrago with Hamilton was all because they were debating what to do with Batas and that blinded them to what was going on with Louis so maybe like psych land. There's there's not enough of a short straight line between the strategic thinkers and the people who put that into action. That's the thing I think it's the decisions on the fly I will decrease seems to be some processed. Problem is all too slow if the if the race is playing out I'm I'm sure it got great strategies before the race and they've got plenty the plan B. and plan C. and as long as they can stick to one of those they'll execute race properly says no question of senior strategist don't know what they're doing. They can't work race out that sort of thing by day think when he just needs that one moment for somebody to go right. This is what's going on. This is what's happening. We weren't expecting Liz react immediately too often we end in here analyzing those things from Sade's more than we do from the other teams because I did have a problem and they did it over the Hamilton Saatchi last year where there was a whole problem last year with the team orders for Valerie bolts US light so the set they wouldn't do them in the rice and the right situation arose where they needed safer championship raisins possesses a little bit frustrated but that does bring us back to the question of into this weekend is brought us got to be the Golly to to kind of spearhead Mercedes because Sachi is very very much one of his tracks. He's already won that in the policies that pole position in the past searches always been stronger if any race he's GonNa Win Against Hamilton the rest of the season. It's country this. I think this is brought US territory and I would hope the as you say although Mercedes and Hamilton haven't been on a particularly great winning winning streak of light his championship lead remains relatively safe so I'd hope that this Tom Batas gets himself in front would at least be allowed to keep the victory that'd be a nice little bit of payback for last year I think Mercedes at least they were honest about what they did. Last year it was it was probably being in overly safe. You Know Louis still wrapped up the championship with few races to go. That's going to happen again this year. So it's up to Audi really you know he started the year so well. Hello and it seems so long ago now that he's on the radio you know telling people few in all of this sort of thing we like wild dot com is going to bid he's really fierce now and that's all been eroded over the course of the year by Hamilton's brilliance but struggling to stay on top of the car and then the victory is James Message. I I thought that was was the that was the ultimate sign that the feisty tasks we saw to start the year yet what we've got now is just a shadow of that because Merck's on the radio to him saying we're not even GONNA awesome to move out the way later we just want you to drive slower now and I know there was the element of keeping album behind as well by not just shows where Bata six in the pecking order where he's viewed by the team and probably the reason he's he's kept his drive and drive a market share is for another Po cost. I'm sure Ed by think. Batas is the juice for number two but I hope for his sake that he if he puts himself in a position to win this weekend he's allowed to it all depends on whether he's grown the twelve year old at stroll style facial goatee again and bro Pack of Paul Rich Yeah. That's the the key question with also this is formed. It starts downturn again John when he got rid of the what we call the evil process goatee so maybe that's something he should he should think about but we should say he does go while at Lisa's attracts he's very good on the circuits. The smooth low grip tracks the ones why the kind of the front end isn't quite so razor sharp because Hamilton noise likes to really pivot the car on the front and both feels a little bit mold weigh in on the salsa circuits Mexico's another one Australia's percent. These are the ones where both US ten sets. It's a good so I imagine if you'll you'll be going right. This is the weekend I'll go there and get a win and I think it's probably quite for him because it's been a very very long side is back here was the last one he he wants after winning two out four. He's he's on track to win none of the last seventeen which which disappointed so what is it exactly it about Bosson those or tracks in those conditions I think you've talked in the past that he tends to be a driver who looks pretty good enough p. One when the tracks green eaten those circuits that you mentioned those ones that don't necessarily rubbery maps over the weekend in some of the ways that the other tracks do well why why do they superbowls has to say well the fundamentally lower grip surfaces so I think if you look at the way Hamilton drives he's he likes it may be so very decisive concerned so you know turn in the front size grip up very quickly you got them loaded really fast and then you can kind of pivots rotate the car around the front wheels so that the the sort of the right sites you get into the corner box isn't quite so good on that that sort of thing he likes a little bit more a slightly longer longer. Shall we say turn in face to load up the tires and you can feel it very very well and I think that's that that helps him the the local services they do. They do reprints for certain extent rubber in from a from a lower from a lower starting point. It's all down to the the late on their. That's their slightly different. Grain Tarmacs used so you you you got different levels of grip different at different circuits so it is connected to the fact that east he soak it on on green circuits. I saw him. The green track champion always looks really really good in NFL. I can remember quotas you and I standing the Mexico. She is going to be one in both us. was that was a standout in in in those days conditions so I think I think it's not necessarily the the the balsas is is much better fundamentally an ice conditions but Hamilton is kind of his his potency slightly lightly rejects. ADC A little bit more a swing than Balzac's closer to set to the maximum. Shall we say again raises the question of what would happen pulses in the same way he it was the sole focus on what you have a slightly different kind of about balance way wouldn't be built around having having strong front Sandon and it's it's interesting it's interesting question but it's a phenomenon that seems very very aware of and they noticed very very quickly when he went there in twenty seven so yeah an interesting testing one Linda moments we're going to hurl ourselves into the murky waters of the ever controversial reverse grits idea should one be willing to try new things like this or should should it try and maintain the tradition of the way the grid is formed and of course he gets to make that decision fans drivers team bosses complicated question will shortly to discuss that it's cutting into your exercise time it stabbing you in.

I assume there are small slaps. Pats. She's filling in for. Sarah Huckabee sandbag lucky her office. President Robert preferred Mercedes mccambridge is she still alive? She's. The White House. She's she was the fourth of the demon. The old enough to know stuff like that. You young and she was also characters in the forty. Yeah. I'll take your questions now. Kosta your mother. In hell. Okay. Pardon me. What is this? Okay. So anyway, Mercedes schlab. Wow. That was way to go for these sound bites. I'm a good Mercedes mccambridge circle circle. Back backup turnaround a minute. Yesterday talking about McCain. Well, I mean McCain has no credibility. He was obviously fired by the FBI. We know he's lied on multiple occasions, including under oath, and he's a partisan hack. He's trying to sell a book. But the mere fact is is that he's a liar. Travis.
