"S d. N c. Let's not forget them. Here is MST N c host apologizes after network Confused too black Congressman I talked about it. The impeached former federal judge criminal taking bribes Alcee Hastings. God rest his soul. Hey, died a couple of days ago, The age of 84. MSNBC was doing the orbit for Congressman Alcee Hastings. Unfortunately, they weren't showing a picture of Alcee Hastings. They were showing a picture of another random black congressman by the name of Benny Thompson, who is not Alcee Hastings and looks nothing like Chelsea Hastings. So they put on their white anchor Hallie Jackson to come on and apologize. But you wanna apologize. First mistake that we made on this show. Yesterday we're reporting on the death of Congressman Alcee Hastings. We mistakenly showed video of Congressman Bennie Thompson, which should never have happened were started never have happened. "Hunt and be seen his senior Washington correspondent Hallie Jackson, former Homeland Security Secretary Jay Johnson and Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan. Hallie, I want to start with you in the moment here. You're covered this administration for the almost four years now, and I understand you have some news to share about. What is the relationship these days between Vice President Pence and President Trump In a nutshell. Chuck. It's not good. I have learned from a source familiar with this that not only did President Trump not reach out to vice president Pence as the events of Wednesday unfolded and remember the vice president was in a secure location with by the way members of his family, his wife, his daughter, his brother had all come to be in attendance. But I'm told that the president has not called vice president Pence. Since then, it is a striking detail, and I think it reflects the real in the deer of the relationship between these two men right now and how acrimonious it's become. Of course, the president spent days chuckles, you know, pressuring vice President Pence publicly to do something that he just did not have the constitutional authority to do on Wednesday and further Chuck just to advance the story more It wasn't just the public pressure. I'm told that it's far back is December 15th mid December so weeks ago, there were behind the scenes maneuvering to try toe essentially get the vice president to do with the president wanted calls arrange with attorneys walking through different scenarios that the vice president in the eyes of the president could potentially take, even though again as the vice president was very clear. He did not have the authority to do so. Check. As far as the 25th amendment. Listen, I'm told that the vice president just does not think that that is practical. That's what we've been hearing and reporting from people close to him, allies, etcetera, But there is real concern on anger here about how this moves forward. Casey Hunt. How bipartisan is impeachment going to be this week? That's the question, Chuck and I think we're moving toward it becoming a little bit more bipartisan, honestly and listening to that interview that you just did with Senator Toomey, I think underscores that we're told that There may have been some lawmakers who perhaps voted with the president on the electoral college question, partly because they were afraid for their own safety and the safety of their families. That the calculation wasn't necessarily just ah, political one which I think gives you a little bit of a sense of just how dramatic This WASP. Now the question will be how our political isn't perceived to be going forward. There's an increasing sense that Nancy Pelosi doesn't tend to move forward with the impeachment articles this week, but that they may not send them over to the Senate right away because Mitch McConnell has essentially made clear That there's no way to that he will be able to or be willing to force the levers in such a way that would start the trial before Democrats take control of the Senate, So the potential is that trial could be unfolding in the first weeks of the Biden administration. The question is, does the president elect Want that to be what they do first, so they may hold those articles of impeachment in the House until perhaps weeks or months later. But, you know, I think it's important to note There seems to potentially be enough votes in the Senate to convict right now Republican votes at this moment when this is still so fresh, obviously, political calculations change, but I mean they need 17 votes Chuck and there were 92 Republicans in the Senate who voted to say no President Biden. President elect Biden won This election, so I don't think people are willing to be extraordinarily out front about that quite yet, And there are a lot of questions about the impeachment process. But I cannot overstate the level of anger among Senate Republicans. All right. Peggy and J. Your job here is to answer this question. What should happen in the next 10 Days. J you first Truck at first after take issue with what Senator Toomey said about us not seeing this coming. I've written several op EDS over the last four years about how President Trump's rhetoric Makes unacceptable behavior acceptable and violence inevitable. My principal concern right now, Chuck at this moment is the domestic security situation, which is To say the least tense and should be on high alert. I believe what President Trump did on Wednesday was worse than anything he did around Russia anything he did around Ukraine any phone call he made to the Georgia secretary of State Department. The House I would vote to impeach power in the Senate. I would vote to convict. I do, however, questioned the necessity. Given the current climate of holding that boat over the next week and a half, particularly when McConnell is said that the trial will not occur until after January. 20. I think we need. I think there are additional considerations here. The goal is to disqualify him from holding federal office. There is precedent for holding such a trial after the person leaves office. Maggie. What's your What's your prescription? My read quickly is that we are in a crisis. This coming week could not be more consequential, more weighted with history. I from everything. I hear there are still active conversations going in Washington with regard to the 25th amendment. And whether or not the president should be essentially judged to be incapacitated. That is amazing enough or another road. Second impeachment. He's already been impeached once I would take any of the above because I believe the president should leave. I believe he is a danger but very quickly on impeachment, my thoughts or this. First of all, he's dangerous. He should be impeached because he's showing every signs that on the way out, he'd like to pull down a few more pillars. We don't know how he's spending his days. Who's around him. It doesn't seem to be. A lot of people are a lot of First rate people and real serious counselors. So there's that danger. I think he breached the constitution when his supporters breached. The grounds of the capital, So I think there's just Just straight out reason to remove him. I think future presidents may need to know what the exact boundaries are for presidential behavior. Wouldn't be bad to show them this week. I also think you know President Trump. At this point, he's simply deserves exceptional dishonor and a second impeachment would be A and exceptional dishonor. I hope the Republican Party does not miss this moment. They should move forward. I think the impeachment should be bi partisan. It will be the only way for it to be really pretty fully accepted but understood and respected by history, both parties said. No more. It Bipartisan impeachment threat is what got Nixon to resign, Perhaps if a bunch of Republicans gruesome spines in the next 24 hours and they knew it was coming. Maybe just maybe he would take that route. I'm gonna pause right there when we come back the ways in which the far right is trying to blame Wednesday's violence on.

When will Americans actually get the Covid vaccine?

"Different timelines from two different officials working on the pandemic for when regular healthy Americans can go into sort of the local pharmacy. Get the vaccine like you might get a flu shot secretary. A czar said. It looked like late February early March months have sloughed who has operation works? Speed said It really looks like May June. Where on that spectrum, is it really you know, we don't know for sure, but it's somewhere. You know, I was just gonna say Halle that Had you not shown those two comments from the secretary and from one step slow. We had been saying somewhere at the end of the march beginning of April, you know it really is going to depend on the efficiency of the roll out the number of people that actually come forth the advisory committee. An immunization practices together with the CDC is going to put out and has already put out Priority list. The first priority list is what you're seeing on the screen, frontline health care providers as well as people in nursing homes and those who are caring for them a nursing homes. Then you go to the next level, which would be essential personnel in society, then the elderly and people with underlying conditions depending upon how efficiently we get them through. It's going to be anywhere within the bracket that you heard from the secretary of Amon Seth. I had been saying by my calculation sometime by the end of March, the beginning of April that the normal, healthy man and woman in the street who has no underlying conditions would likely get it at the end of the day. The real bottom line is when do you get the majority? The overwhelming majority of the population vaccinated so you can get that umbrella of herd immunity, and I believe if we're Fishing about it, and we convince people to get vaccinated. We can accomplish that by the end of the second quarter of 2021, namely by the end of the late spring early summer. I believe we can get there by then, so that by the time we get into the fall, we can start approaching some degree of relief where the level of infection will be so low in society. We can start to do essentially approaching some form of normality. Dr Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases with MSNBC's Hallie Jackson. "You know, Maria Theresa, you you actually provided a good segue way of Ah, graphic. I wanted to put up for everybody here. This issue of whose hopeful and whose fearful this was fascinating and pew your feelings on the state of the country, and they asked the general question. Are you fearful or you are you hopeful? What was interesting is while a majority of the country said they're fearful Biden supporters, Hallie Jackson were more likely to be fearful 79% of Biden supporters called themselves fearful Trump supporters call themselves hopeful 64%. I will say this fear motivate the Trump supporters were more fearful four years ago, and that worked. And you're starting to see that and I'm struck by something that Senator Cruz said chef that he's been talking about. Which is this idea that if fear does motivate, it's an acknowledgement from the senator that Democrats would likely do better, and it's because of those poll numbers that you're talking about Chuck. So you're seeing Republicans trying to take that and spin it as Democrats are the ones painting this sort of dark, dystopian message to try to motivate Peter people to come out to the polls. You know, in reality, some of the language and rhetoric that we've heard from President Trump. What he's been running on so far has been this message of law and order, which his supporters appreciate. Critics say, Listen, you're talking about trying to scare for example, suburban women and some of these key voting constituencies with the language that you're using, and with the picture that you're painting, so I do think that is something that is going to be critical over the next couple of weeks. And I will say this the political, the political landscape. If it is a fearful landscape, we know that that usually is a greater motivator on pause the conversation there when we come back. But we did this year and $80 million additional commitment to increase the number of firefighters that are full time equivalent. Firefighters, So we are at ranks we haven't been in decades. He made the comments while serving the damage of the glass fire in Santa Rosa, which has burned more than 48,000 acres. "Dotcom. Welcome back. The panel is joining US NBC News chief White House correspondent Hallie Jackson, New York Times correspondent Michael Schmidt, author of The new book, Donald Trump versus the United States. Look for scoops galore in that one. Michelle Sindoor, White House correspondent for PBS NewsHour and former Republican governor of North Carolina and Radio host Pat McCrory. Welcome to all of you. I'm going to start with Showing our apocalyptic campaign frame that both Trump and Biden created at their conventions. Take a look. He is the destroyer of America's jobs. And if given the chance he will be the destroyer. Of American greatness. He's failed to protect us. He's failed to protect America. The hard truth is You won't be safe in Joe Biden's America. Donald Trump's failure of leadership has cost lives and livelihood, Sze Hallie Jackson. This isn't a campaign where you're wondering, Jeez, boy, Both sides are kind of running on the same message. It's pretty clear and I tell you we heard those messages. Two people were killed. We had three people killed this week and essentially what? Maybe political protest. We're injuring uncharted waters here. I mean, you're you're completely right, Chuck. And it's something that we're gonna be hearing a lot more about from especially the person that I cover President Trump. I'm told by sources over the weekend as I was coming on the air with you, Chuck that violence in the streets. Quote unquote will be one of the three central themes to the president's campaigning in the vice president's campaigning, moving forward over the next 65 days or so, along with what they consider to be a focus on what they see is an improving economy as well as talking about the corona virus and what they're doing to try to mitigate the pandemic if you will, whether or not It'll be effective messaging for people remains to be seen. But this issue of violence is one that you've already seen the president, his allies, his surrogates talking about. They believe truly that this is going to be something that will motivate people to get to the polls. It's a message the president is expected to take on the road shock. I can tell you that he is going to be travelling a ton over the weekend, he was telling allies that he wanted the best and most aggressive travel schedule. In the words of one person I talked to. He knows he can't win from inside the building. So it's a message. The president We'll be taking out on the campaign trail heavily over the coming weeks and days. Look for him to be in Florida looks to be in North Carolina. Obviously, Michigan, Wisconsin. I've heard a lot of talk about Minnesota's well, Chuck Where are we right now? Where's the Biden campaign? In this moment on your mind? Abiding campaign agrees with essentially one thing that President Trump said during the RNC, which is that this is the most important election in the history of the country. Both of them are making the case that this that this election is going to be changing lives and as you as subject, Richmond told you. They see this issue of Unarmed black people being killed in the streets is low hanging fruit that America should be able to get this right. So they see. This is really pitching this Ford and saying This is the chaos, the desk that we're seeing from Cove it as well as the death that we're seeing from African Americans at 2.5 times the rate of white Americans at the hands of police that this should be the central issue we heard over and over again. They pitch this as a It's a battle for the soul of America. That's the messaging that you're going to hear over and over again, and they're really going to be making the case that President Trump failed miserably on the Corona virus. I thought it was interesting as I was covering on the South Lawn of the White House today that gathering of people with no mass sitting Soldado shoulders cheering on the president on this hot summer on this hot summer night in D. C. The White House transformed completely. Into AA convention space. The president started making the case that the United States was one of the best places when it came to death rates in America. So his idea his and the plan there is going to be to try to paint this rosy picture and to speak about the virus almost as if it's in the rear view mirror. We've course no that that's just not true that the United States affected only the India in the number of new cases were seeing every day about 42,000 cases, along with the death rate being that one of the worst If not be worse in in terms of modernized industrialized countries, So those two things race and the Corona virus are going to be top of mind for Joe Biden. Of course, he's gonna be hitting the campaign trail after Labor Day as well going to all sorts of states that he sees it's credible. McCrory. How does the president not walk a line and not look like he's rooting for violence? You know, Kellyanne Conway and Friday making the case that somehow the that she believes this helps them. There's this line and look, there's the times you look like from a political perspective. It's almost they can't it's O. The violence can be helpful politically, and that can come across as almost looking like he's rooting for it. Well back in May when I was on this panel right after the sad Minnesota riots and protests, I gave a warning. Do not underestimate the anarchist. And I actually think a lot of democratic mayors and democratic governors and even Joe Biden underestimated. The anarchist and the feeling that people will have especially the middle class, both black and white against people who attack our police who want to defund our police who come across his anti police. When most people in America are in favor of the police, they're not in favor of bad shootings. Terrible. Horrendous shootings..

"An incitement of violence against women of color. I think AFC is very smart Email. You'll have to include that in your media matters quote about what I'm about to say. But here she is purposely diverting from purposefully callous cruel comment, by her colleague on the left that the New York Post was absolutely right to call out. And she is attacking the press. She is attacking the pressure member. Everyone out there is Donald Trump attacked the press enemy, and the people shouldn't do that. I don't like the enemy that people suffer set. It hundred time fake news doesn't bother me because there's a lot of fake news. But I mean, the people does because it's old Stalinist stuff. Everyone out there who's calling out Donald Trump for threatening. The press ought to be calling out for doing the same because she is attacking a newspaper who's coming on a public officials. Callous, cruel statement, minimization of nine eleven. AFC wasn't the only one AFC is not the only one Rashid to lead the same thing. There was obviously a meeting or a comment or or some kind of communication between teams about how to respond on MSNBC with hallie Jackson yesterday. Cut number six. Yeah. I'm not for policing people. That's what they're doing to us women of color. I mean think about it. This is a diverse class. They've never had to Muslim women. They never had a Palestinian American. They've never had a woman that was at refugee. I mean, these are real life impactful stories that come with us because our lens is different. You know, this is not just about a congress that looks differently, but we serve differently and we talk about these issues differently. But it's an institution that just is not ready for people like us, we people we're just like any other Americans. When I talk about my immigrant mother when I talk about Mike my grandmother in Palestine when I talk about living in poverty in the city of Detroit. I mean, all of those things are so important and being table. They talked about us for so long. And it's not one of us. Is there people that are directly impacted by the Muslim ban directly impacted by anti immigrant rhetoric to regularly impacted about issues around racial injustice. All of those things it's been missing. In this chamber for so long. And now that sister hunt, Omar is there they can it whatever they want because that's the way to try to discredit her. But her voice matters. And I'll tell you more and more people believe in what she's doing then people against it. And I wish we would those people because seventy percent of her community is white, and they elected her the majority of people that elected her do not share share the same faith is her and they believed in her and made her a United States congresswoman, and that is what we need to be talking about more. Russia to lead went on to talk about criticism, Representative Omar's nine eleven cruel and indifferent. Comments this way, cut number seven all the time to us, especially women of color. They do that. They take our words out of context because they're afraid because we speak truth, we speak to its power. My sister-in-law had Omar she what she was talking about was up lifting people by supporting their civil liberties and civil rights. She has always always condemned any shredded. Especially if a person directly impacted by being a rookie herself. She sees what terrorism can do see she's violence can do a whole country to a whole people take it out of context. This is just pure racist. Act by many of those hateful acts by those because she does speak truth when it talks about different issues that they don't disagree with. And I'm really outrage because as a person that has gotten direct death threats myself, I know that her life is put in more danger. And I see her not just as my sister on Omar's colleague. But here's a mother of three trying to raise her children. I can't imagine their lives without her in the fact that these people are irresponsibly taking those words out of context and endangering the life of rep Omar is immoral is wrong. And it needs to be called out. Many of my colleagues not just myself you understand. I don't know what she means by people who took out of context. I don't know. What means you're out there? And I hope people didn't play the whole thing. It was a cruel cruel minimization of what happened on nine eleven and the New York Post did the right thing in the New York Post is a newspaper, and we protect the first amendment here and politics ain't beanbag. I hate death threats. I condemn those people if you threaten the public official you go to jail, by the way, and that's good. They've already got one person threat Nomar. That's very good. But let's be clear that what Omar said is the story not the outrage that she engendered what she said is the story may also go back from them. And I want to repeat this many of the people who are originally duped by signs during the manning who were then Duke by steel and Duke by a handful of senior government, folks, peddling Steele dossier, then by the real Donald Trump is a Russian asset idiocy then by the Nadi by and book bookstore. Now, they are as Kim strassel noted the AM in a candidate. That it's a candidate for concise column of the year. Those people are quote stunned and scared by AG bar because quote, accountability is returned to the Justice department. The reckoning is coming. This is me Kim an AG bar is bringing it if he pronounces no wrongdoing. Believe him just as all on my centre-right right friends to wait for special counsel Muller's report. And now that we know there was no collusion no conspiracy conspiracy. Let's wait for AG bar the inquiry that bars directing into whether there was a predicate for the spying on real Donald Trump has a lot of a lot of folks lawyering if they didn't need to previously. They sure need to now DOJ is back in the pursuit of of the Justice. And by the way, Jim Komi was in the game yesterday trying to divert cut number twelve. Affective bars comments. I really don't know what he's talking about talked about spying on the campaign. It's concerning because the FBI that pharma Justice conduct court ordered electron IX Valence, I have never thought of that as spying what do face. I'm just totally in the Dupuis camp. I don't think he may have known what was going on corporate spying. I did it when he was in.

"We've no one ever said this to him even talk to him. Right. We which was funny because on Monday night. Mike Pence did an interview with hallie Jackson from MSNBC and she's just pressed him in the best way possible over the like, oh, some presidents which ones. Yeah. So listen, listen to this full court press from Halley Jackson, which former presidents told President Trump as he said that he should have built a wall all their representatives have denied that. That was the case. Well, you, you know, the president has said. That that was his impression from previous fresh. Presidents. I know. I know I've seen clips of previous presidents talking about the importance of border secure the importance of addressing the illegal immigration telling the president though, right? But look, you know, honestly, the American people. This lady. But I know that wasn't allow sure mother is just she's EPA. Okay. I'm going to be a onset today. So he can sit and talk to you. He she's running sound. He thought this up from the gecko though, because it's always been Mexico's gonna pay Mexico's gonna pay and it's like, Honey if you're going to say that you got a vet that and the the president has since the beginning of this time, the Mexican president like we are not paying for it and under no circumstances. And so then he's doubled down with this shutdown. But like I wanted the shutdown all keep the shutdown going be proud happy to do it for years. And it's like that's so you've now been incorrect caused this like financial catastrophe. I of people made a a huge issue about something that isn't a pressing issue right now with all of the other issues going on. And then I wonder do an and rush like are they like happy when he? When he reneges on something because they made fun of him like do they count that as a win or do? They not just seem like with like someone on Twitter be like your clapped back at this person. And they took it back. I feel Powell told the troll into trolls AM doesn't want a wall. She's like very against the wall from cheeses. But her thing was like you campaigned on this. We're not going to deliver it all that's the end of your president. Oh, and that's hilarious. And true. Did you know that is no one telling you? It's one of those things to it. Like, you're saying it's causing a lot of problems like you. You know, you have hundreds of thousands of people whose paid where who aren't getting paid. And then you have people who are at risk losing their federal assistance for food stamps, or if they're in housing programs that are just gonna laps because the government isn't running..

"Ritual with me Garrett Lewis, Kansas T AM seven hundred Tucson's. Most stimulating talk three things. I think you need to know number one is the fact that the White House, President Trump invited Republicans and Democrats to the White House to get a briefing on border security, Democrats, finally accepted, Chuck and go there, and they go to the situation room and when cures to Neal's the homeland security secretary is about to speak to give stats about what's happening at the border. Chuck Schumer interrupt, sir and keeps interrupting again, and again, and again, you'd want to hear anything she had to say. Nothing at all. And the Republicans are missing the boat. This is clear evidence that the Democrats do not care about border security, but that is not coming from Trump's mouth or any of the Republicans mouth. It's pathetic. Second thing that I think you need to know is the fact that Democrats do not want to pay for any border security that includes a wall, but they want to keep the government to get there and back open and the Bill they have introduced doesn't give any money to building a wall. The building introduced to to open up the government again to fund it doesn't include a penny to build the wall. But it does include money for taxpayers to fund abortion. Yup. That's what they are trying to do. Third thing. I think you need to know state rep here in Arizona, Mark Finchem for moral valley. We're gonna get him on Tuesday morning at seven ten because he's not available right now. Let's talk about this. He has a Bill that actually would get teachers fired. Let me is going to happen. When you get more detail miss, but we could actually allow teachers to be fired if they talk about politics or controversial subjects in class. I'm not a prude, but this is all based on teachers trying to brainwash their students that red for Ed was a good movement, and they should support it, and blah, blah, blah, and parents got mad. He's trying to do something about it. And now Finchem is being attacked and called the Nazi word. He actually sent me emails. He showed me each semi screen shots. She has apparently he is being called a Nazi for this by people that don't like it. And that just nice. That's what the Nazis did three things. I think you need to know again, he'll be on the show Tuesday morning at seven ten because he's he's out of town right now. Now, we have a lot to get to our I want you to hear. I want you to hear. Congressman Tim Ryan from Ohio. He's on NBC news just a little while ago. MSNBC I should say they all the countdown clocks, by the way, the countdown government shutdown twelve days, ten hours, twelve minutes. They all the clocks, FOX MSNBC. I'm assuming CNN watch. It is what is so Tim Ryan is sitting in DC Capitol Hill. He's talking with hallie Jackson and Halley Jackson said so Pelosi seems to have some optimism there about this shutdown negotiation, but you achieve make clear Democrats not want to give money for a wall. If you have that position. Do you understand why some Democrats will see this as is their fault because they don't wanna give money for the wall? I mean, that's what it comes down to. And Tim Ryan responded like this. Well, there are also Republicans in border states.
