"Now the Mexico Championship and only bring this up because it is Phyllis it and I just happened to be there working I Justin Thomas in the playoff And Phil Mickelson beating mind 17 the par three there and, um, filled to see it. Thomas was in tears losing, you know, like just because the emotion of it to get any eagle on 18 to make the playoff and he goes against Phil and Phil Wind. Winning and he actually gave me a hug when I want to congratulate him, and he's hugging everybody like because it was just, you know, it's a 46 year old guy, the time winning on the PGA Tour. It was like, Oh my God, an old guy won. I said to him, I said. Hey, thanks for 11 for us, old guys. Yeah, man. He gave me a hug, and I'm like, like, I don't know it was. You know my name? I'm sure. Um, but you know, it's just a feeling of the face, and Freddy Albertson gave him a big hug to my colleague, P. J to a radio and announcers. That was It was just an awesome moment. So I can't imagine what this. This will be like for him if he's able to win oldest winner by the way, we mentioned Nicholas at age 46 of the 86 masters. There's two more that are actually older than have won a major Sam Snead, Tom Morris senior. The eight 18 67 open championship. He was ah, month older than Jack was. And then Julius boroughs in the 1968 PGA Championship at age 48, But the Nicholas match play back then that was you know the people who didn't change till 70. I think 71 is when it changed from a match play, too. So in this in the current set up and, you know, obviously the Nicholas at age 46 in 86 is the one that people remember Hale Irwin in the 90 Open number is high five and he runs around the green. That was a cool moment. But I mean for Mickelson doing 50, and this event was hosted at the Park Club. I think it was 9 34 34 1934. The PGA Championship is there and back when that was a match play event? Yes. Back at the Park Club. Have you played the park club? You've played a Major championship. Actually, many people listening you've played Grover Cleveland, the 1912 U. S open. And then if you've played Park, the 1934 PGA, so obviously oh, kill. I'll kill the only play Don't kill hosted every Major championship There is from the Ryder Cup, the PGA, the US All those, and all the women and the senior and the regular, correct a whole host of them all. So you could have played three spots in this area where there's been a major plane for sure. But, yeah, if Mickelson wins, that that would be a cool story. Okay, Time out here from Niagara Frontier. Our final thoughts on the PGA Championship as that we roll on here on this special two hour edition of TV green with PG Approach F meters and Kevin Sylvester, I'm Brian.

Well, Peyton William Perry. Gimmick man, or that he had on signing the McDonald's currents. Oh, that makes him cool. There's a lot of those McDonald's cards around where they're not that valuable. But with with a Walter Payton signed one in there with that make it worth Senate in, you know, in some other autographs, Biller. They still Oh, no. Any any autograph? Peyton would be there. She'd love that I just tweeted about teaching of weeks ago. He had that thing where, like if he'd make a birdie putt or whatever, and it moves putter around like it was a sword. Then put it in. It is him. He was a character. So it's Ernie Cici. Jack Nicholas and who was the fourth one? Ah, Al Irwin. Hale Irwin. What do you think? Bill Huggins? That's probably be a few 100 bucks, right? I would think you'd be a few $100. Yeah, from that. I that I mean, with Arnie and Jack those things Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that would. How's it look isn't in good shape, or do you have in their back pocket? It's in excellent shape. I've had it in a case. Personally, I find my flow inside. It's inside of a cover. "There's not a lot of green fruit. We'll get to the 74. The 2006 years opens in a few minutes, and with regard to the way those tournaments finished the finishing holes that it went from there have to be brutal. Because the U. S open title has been lost on those holes so many times. The first U. S Open at wing foot was 1929 Bobby Jones wanted in a 36 hole playoff, but he blew a four shot lead in the final Four holes and regulation had to make a 12 footer on party 18 to even force the playoff. Do you have any idea what makes 15 16 17 18 and winged foot? So, ah, so darn hard. Oh, yeah, And and they're only there are only three of the hardball stuff there. You know when, when Greg Norman in 2006 returned to score of 2 76. Four under palm for the 72 old He was the first player in 923 players playing the U. S open at wing foot to return to score under. Paul's right. Never knew that he made a party. He's old, too, and tied him. So you know, fuzzy did it right after he did it, But he was the first one, but, uh Yeah. I mean, the last three holes. There are 498 yard dogleg left. Par for 504 Yards Dogleg right par for And 600. Excuse me a 469 yards dogleg left par for, uh all you'd ever want for is a challenge to the best players in the world. Assed forest for his Bobby Jones. You know that he missed that putt. It would have been the biggest USOPEN collapse in history up to that point. However, the other half of the story you didn't tell him You know, Half the story is he went out the next day in a 36 hole playoff. And beat Al Espinosa by 23 22. That's right. I saw that that's a very long part Force. Yeah, you know, you got tree lined fairways. You have to move the tee shot both ways left and right that it's totally equal on the golf course. Dogleg left ugly, right? You know, and the case of these three dog leg left over the right dog leg left. The bunkers throughout the course. Our deep that's the That's the problem up around the greens. There didn't let her in on a position properly, but they're deep. And as usual, the greens were undulating in quick. I mean, By the way, if anybody can get it, get it Get the golf magazine. For September, October, the September October edition, and it's got a beautiful About a 10 page spread. Where pictures every hole at wing foot. Interesting. Yeah. I mean, Bobby Jones obviously regroup to that over after forcing upto just slaughter the guy, Although his competitors I believe shot 80 and one round of that that 36 Hole playoff the 1st 18 holes. Michael 1974. You were just a knee high to a grasshopper in those days, but the massacre at wing foot Hale Irwin survived a couple of bogeys in the final four holes to win by two shots. But the scoring posted to win with 7/1 of the highest scores ever to win a major championship. It got me to thinking about Hale Irwin when three US opens, but no other majors. Where does that put him in the history of the game? Michael in your head was a comparable with Payne Stewart or Nick Price or something like that. Um, you know that That's a great question. You got to say He's got to be up there especially what he did on the senior tour after his stint on the PGA Tour. I put him up there with probably make a big price. Probably borderline close. You know you could. You could kind of get him in there with an Arnold Palmer. Not Arlo. I'm sorry. Although type like The watch. Hey, three U. S. Open is pretty impressive Win, but No. I don't think it was the most like character out on the tour, So I think that's why other people don't see him regarding which very high reverence Maybe he should. Yeah. What do you mean? What year? Were you born 78? So you were six years old when fuzzy Zeller be Greg Norman in a playoff to use Although I remember I remember it because that was that shoal. That show rumor? No, that was that was a very famous gesture in the place with the with the with the white flag. I remember that as a kid because I'm like, What is this? Some kind of sitting there and fruit just trying to explain it to me, And I'm like, okay. And because it was it was two different days. I believe is on Saturday and then again on Sunday, wasn't it? I don't remember that first. Is that right? It was on Sunday because Greg Norman had hit his second shot playing in front of Fuzzy had hit his second shot into the stands to the right of 18. And got a drop and knocked it on the green and in knocked out in the 40 footer for par. Fuzzy standing out on the fairway. Thought the 40 footer was for birdie to win the open. And that's why he waved the white tail. Okay, I surrender many. Then he found out. No, no, no, no. It was only for par, and he's Buckle it down and knocked it on the green and see, I thought I thought I remembered it. I thought I remembered it, Maura, as I thought on Saturday. Norman did it The fuzzy kind of as as a joke, man. You're playing really well, kind of. I'm throwing in the white towel kind of waving the white flag and then I thought And then roles reversed on Sonny. That's how I thought I remembered as a kid, but here again, like Like You said I was six years old. I was a lot older than you may be right because I think Greg Norman did it to me when I tell you when Greg number did he did in the playoffs. You He lost the playoff by seven shots, Okay? Yeah. Okay. That's good. That's what I remember. Because I remembered it was on for every reason. I thought it was on two different days. Okay. If you're talking Sunday Monday, as opposed to Saturday to Sunday, then Yeah. Okay, that makes sense. All right. My six year old memory's better, and I thought he waved a white towel on anyone up, Tio fuzzy and kind of patted his face down, you know, like from a switch off, Or maybe the most famous US Open at Wing Foot was 2006 Phil Mickelson melting down on the 72nd hole. He's never one of us Open guys..

"Great to have you with us today and great to bring our next guest back on TV Green. You know. Last week they played a golf tournament, the Tour Championship and the guy that shot the best scorer did not win. This week. They're playing a lady's major championship in Southern California next week, and they're also playing the first event of the new season this week on the PGA Tour. Even though it's mid September, they're playing the first event of 2021. Next week. They're playing the US Open. And everything is just kind of jumbled around and crazy and golf anymore. So I thought it'd be a perfect time to get Tom Ed ringtone back with us on the show from dogleg news to try to make sense of all this. Hi, Tom. How you doing? Good morning. I'm Judge. Can you help us? We'll fit right in. Now, before we go in further, Tom, before we go any further, I want to take a moment here in which J. A Happy birthday. He just had a birthday this week. Last week. It was earlier this week. Happy birthday depending on how old you are My condolences. Yeah, well, more like Micah Dolan. I was going to say that I'm not sure they have numbers that high anymore. But So how you been? I'll be doing you you're doing okay? Good. I just want to give upload to the ladies to start. I think we're gonna have a wonderful event. Watch Therewith. You got Brooke Anderson type of Lee with Nellie Court election. Constance right behind. Putting better than she's ever pushed it. So we get three really huge names. You know, I think they're going to fight it out down the stretch because they all play that course so very well and the way that course finishes I think there could be a little drama there so You know? Do you think they watch the girls? They're all you know, very highly ranked, and and I think it'll be a lot of fun. That's an event. You know, you know the the old phrases Ah, horses for courses. That's an event that if you've got a certain type of game you can play really well on that course. Despite How you been playing all season long? Especially the girls that know the course you know they it suits their eye and they and they play well special, you know, long hitters, and there's there's three very long hitters there so It's like, you know, it's like watching top three or four men play. So there'll be a lot of excitement there. I I like watching those girls. I do, too. The lady's game is a lot of fun to watch. And you know, I hate to say it, but with co Vered and the fact that a lot of the Overseas players are not over here playing it kind of opened things up, opens things up a little bit for some of the American girls. Oh, yeah, I think could be a great day for American and Canadian gobble up Brooke Henderson, Canada's golfing sweetheart, So she's got an entire country behind Earth. So that'll be fun. I know you're a big fan of the Tour championship before Matt can we talk about the U S open where the best best score will win? No way. I got to go back. You know, we got to go back to last week and East Lake and hits or take on that. The good news is at least d. J didn't blow it away. Justin Thomas did the year before. I mean, you know, I think a lesser player might have squandered You know the lead down the stretch. You know, Zander was put a lot of heat on it. Justin Thomas was putting a lot of heat on him. You know, those guys had nothing to lose. They were going to finish high and what guaranteed money. You know, there is just go out there and go for it. And those two guys did. And and Dustin Johnson showed life been on a roll that guy when he gets going You know he's you're not going to be him if he's putting and driving it. Pretty good, You know, Grip, Very good, Iron player, Burgers, Short iron player. He's really improved. That important facet of this game is really one of the reasons he should do. Well, it went put this week. Yeah, I I agree with that allot of people. When they watch Dustin Johnson. They realized Wow, he can really hit the the drive a long way. But I think the short irons is where people are a little bit surprised by that. And when he gets up there to the green He's been putting a lot better as well. No. He made a lot of crucial. Plus, he made that 21 putting for par couldn't believe it. He Ages. He's rolling it well and and puddings going to be a big factor at wing foot. Ah, everything's going to be a big factor there. So he won't have a 10 shot advantage at wing foot to go going in, though you know that's going to bamboozle everybody, because you know what it is. We get into this like they do a quick review of the massacre in 74. And semi massacre. No sex. I mean, the scores were all over par, and guys were just getting no taking a beat down down the stretch. Both both of those You know Famous Usopen 70 for Hale Irwin one, and he was what? Seven over anyone. Seven over shot 73 the final round, But this is this is interesting. Okay? How much do you think Hale took home? For winning the US Open in 1974 0. Gosh, 70,000 $35,000 boys and girls like guys these days, want him to get out of 35,000. I would for her. Forrest says We're finished second to come. 18,000 Jack Nicklaus shot 14 over finished 10th. Are you ready for Jack's 10 place? Check. $3750.37 50. You're right these days that wouldn't even get most most guys out of bed. Hey, Phil, about Phil going returning to the scene of the crime, So 06 Geoff Ogilvy. I think people forget it didn't chip in on the 18th hole. Shoot 72, you know, five and five over. Well makes double sheets 74. People forget chimp hurt, bogeyed 18 to finish it. Six over with Bill. And Phil was the only one with a double Our good boy, Monty, This is Doubtfire doubles that he had to stop of driving range. Six iron in there. Any bandit made double. And finish six over You know what Tom Back then believe tonight I was doing another show, and we actually interviewed J. Ritchie on that program, and during that us Open, we asked him who he thinks is going to win the US Open, and he says, Well, I'll just throw out Geoff Ogilvy. The person you think? Sure enough, he called it. I was amazed that was Dylan would have made that I would never pick and Jeff will be picked in I know has played pretty well coming into the event we call. That's why I went. I was that girl. I was at wing foot and I was watching. All the action from the second floor of the clubhouse, looking out the window overlooking the 18th green and standing to my left about 10 ft. Away from me was Geoff Ogilvy because he had finished his round, okay, and he was up there with Jae Ha's and a couple of other guys who had finished their rounds. And they were watching Phil come up 18 and shaking their heads. They couldn't believe what they were saying. Well, there was one guy that birdie 18 You know in the last groups and that was Patty Harrington. Any and you finished seven over behind the sixes. What do you think those guys all the three guys in six would have paid for that birdie. Oh, gosh. Yes. Yeah. $35,000 As for sure, so can we even consider Phil as a candidate as a contender this week. I think deep down inside Bill doesn't consider fill a contender. I You know, everybody heard about the guy that 45,000 on Phil. The wind. And and build quip out of that was Let's hope for both our sakes. I've got a three stroke.

"The warriors were cruising towards defending home court over the first two games of their series. But anything happened in the second half. Is they blew it. Thirty one point lead. They lose to the clippers one thirty five one thirty one. And all of a sudden the series is tied at one ESPN warriors reporter Nick for Dell was there. This was stunning. A bit around this team every day all year. They would win games here. They lose games here. Get blown out in the reaction was always the same. It was kind of like we'll be okay and guys were smiling and laughing after. Games. That was not the case tonight you walk into that locker room. It's as quiet as it's been all season. It had emptied out almost completely. Kevin durant? Draymond green that didn't speak to the media guys. Were there were just kind of in stunned. Silence. They couldn't believe they had given up that lead. They couldn't believe that DeMarcus cousins had gotten hurt the way he had and for the first time all year. I think this team realizes, hey, this is not as easy as we thought. It was gonna be they still believe they're going to end up winning this series, and they can collect themselves, but the whole aura of invincibility within that group was brought in a little bit tonight because they just couldn't believe how that game ended in the second half. So now they're doing now with the loss. But also the potential loss of cousins for the rest of the playoffs curse has only acquired injury that they believe is very serious MRI coming on Tuesday. What can you add yet? Sadly for the warriors the field within the organization is that. Cousins probably done for the year. They're hoping against hope that that MRI comes back and shows some better results, but you could just tell in the people who know him the best within that room when asked about him everybody can win. Yeah. We we're we're hoping against hope they they knew it was serious when he walked off the floor. They knew the work that he had put into get back off that achilles injury. And to see him go down again like that. It was a crushing blow on a night that was full of for the warriors warriors and clippers head to LA tied at a game apiece. Tiger Woods rallied Sunday picked up his fifteenth career major winning the masters for the first time since two thousand five his fifteenth major pulls him to within three of the record held by Jack Nicklaus. But the joy at watching him win seemed to be universal yesterday. People were very very Lanta, very how about the symmetry that started in Georgia with that see people following him what he's lake and the sea again at Augusta big deal, you know. And of course, we live in a world that cannot resist forecasting and therefore discussions of with a tiger will pass Jack ran rampant before tiger. Even put it out at eighteen by way of view tiger has fifteen major championships. Now, Jack has eighteen speaking via the telly from some bone fishing trip in the Bahamas. You understand that? I do not even Jack said, quote, the next two majors are Bethpage where he has won Pebble Beach where he has won. So, you know, he's got me shaking in my boots close quote. Tony. Let's look ahead. I don't care if he gets to Jack if he gets another one in maybe some I don't know about winning this summer. I don't know. There's a lot of stuff that has to happen. If KEPCO head made the eagle putt ESE now makes eagle putt. If. Twists so many things you have to happen. These like three to five year opportunity to win some majors. But let's listen people for a second. Let's list all these people the young players. They've all won majors except Fowler. Mcelroy Dustin Johnson KEPCO speak. Justin, Thomas, Molinari, baby. Justin rose. I don't know that he's young. They're not afraid of. They've heard the roars. It back kept off the team become a free. I only saw something yesterday. They'd never experienced think they route for heavy do they like him. But I don't think they're afraid they're longer. They're really good. I don't I agree with you that he can't be the dominant. I gotta admit it. I got an eight minute. I did not see this coming in a million times. I did not see this coming. I did not see Tiger Woods winning the masters. I didn't see it. Now, we'll say this what a racket then Amelia. Then Amelia, caissons I have said if Tiger Woods is able to overcome that home. And when one major I believe he will catch Jack Nicklaus because I think that their biggest impediment is that I heard UIL. But once he gets over that. I heard oh, I think you'll be just fine thereafter. And as a result, he will catch and ultimately surpassed, Jack Nicklaus to officially be what we all ready know that he's the greatest golfer in the history of the sport. But that I hurdle is what I had sincere doubts that he'd be over to overcome. And not only the Tiger Woods win the masters. Not only did he do that shooting two hundred seventy yesterday in the final round, but he was under par every single day. In route to capturing the fifteenth career major of his career. Every single day. One of the things that I repeatedly said about Tiger Woods and upper speedily said about it throughout the years is this he'll be found not he could beat anybody one day, maybe even two, but the days of him being able to provide and display a sustained level of excellence over the course of four days is not something I believe he could do I didn't believe it. I didn't believe it. Whether it was ROY McElroy Jordan speed or Dustin Johnson, the list goes on and on. It was the competition was to steam too heavy and that combined with his physical ailments for different back surgeries combined with his emotional and mental illness that plagued him for the last decade. I was just of the belief firmly that yesterday was the day that would never be seen again in the career of Tiger Woods. My God was I wrong. And I can't be happier to be wrong largest gap between major wins. From this do Julius Boros with four thousand twenty six days to Hale Irwin and seventy from seventy nine to ninety four thousand eighteen days from Ben Crenshaw with four thousand eleven days from eighty four to ninety five Henry back in nineteen thirty seven to nine hundred forty eight Tigers fifth on that list largest gap between major wins within the US open in two thousand and eight to win a masters yesterday.

"Michael junior was proud to be a part of the stupidity podcast recently and the inventor owner author. Call them inventor the owner, the proprietary domain guy for the podcast. I don't know if he knows what any of those words mean. But yeah, that guy Stu gods from the Dan Le Batard show is through God's joins us. Now. Still first of all I have to say you're looking a little lean by man, are you are you on some sort of juice cleanse or something? Yeah. Now, it's just I have no time to eat because I spend all my digital time work. I used suspended eating and now I'm just spending it working on stupidity. So I have I have no time to eat. That's that's the deal. You you you and saying working just doesn't seem to really compute quite honestly by working what I'm doing is gathering a bunch of people around getting them together and having then do all the work. So the real work is getting like, Mike Golic junior come on. It's getting try and Sean McDonough to come on like they did a couple of weeks ago and letting them do all the work, but I am gathering all the people making sure they get on the phone to help me out with. So I'm really not doing anything at the point of execution. Guys. What I'm doing is gathering a bunch of people around to do all the work for me. If you understand what I mean. So it sounds like you're Bryce Harper with the Phillies essentially yesterday. Yes. Yes. Why we all we all find out together that Andrew mccutchen? I was affiliate. The we we just got that was the big offseason. For the Phillies. Andrew mccutchen. We found that out together. Right. I have no idea. Mike Golic junior. Did you know that Andrew mccutchen was Philly? Yeah. Might have actually going into. He's one of those guys that now has reached the point in his career work. We're probably going to do this with him every few years where we're going to look Andrew mccutchen just going to be sending video outfield or coming up to the plate for some timely hit. And he's going to be the guy that you go man mccutchen still in the league. Listen, I think I think we're has great upside. He really does the Philadelphia Phillies this season, speaking of upside. Stugatz. I have to ask you as a met fan. How cautiously optimistic are you that degrom still degrom and the Mets actually got him some runs yesterday? Well, I got to run strikes. It's enough. Let's grab one run is enough. So yeah, you're right. Listen that played out perfectly off the New York Mets. And that that is the formula for this team this year. It's great starting pitching with Syndergaard with Thor with the Graham with with Zack Wheeler. It's getting a couple of runs yesterday. It was Robinson canal who provided both RBI's is for the New York Mets. And then they go to that great bolt pattern. So that is the formula. I'm telling you, this is a team that is flying under the radar. They have a very good pitching staff. Very good bullpen. They have enough offense. I'm telling you the upside with this team is through the roof. So I wouldn't be surprised if the Mets actually go ahead and win the NFL. Lease would you consider. What's happened to the nationals? I'm not certain how good the Phillies are. I think last year was kind of you know, I, you know, the Braves does anyone take the brave seriously think the brain scan continue the you off the success they had last year. So I think the Mets volunteers have. The most upside of any team in the one hundred sixty two game season. So what part of the season to do you actually become an invested fan? Yesterday after nothing. Now, listen that could change in a couple of days biking. It probably will change in a couple of days. But yesterday seeing that formula how great starting pitching great bullpen. A couple of RV is from Robinson canal fans. Right. Our thinking World Series. I don't care what anyone says net fares are absolutely thinking this team is going to the World Series because we never learned our lesson because we're a bunch of morons talking. Stugatz. Jan lebatardshow gods and the host of stupidity. The number one podcast in the world. But in that situation very familiar with what you went through with the jets finding your quarterback. And then still finding a way to lose this last season. But I wanted to bounce this off. We were talking about this earlier because last night at the end of the Tennessee Purdue game had a couple of clutch free throws to send it to overtime. And we asked the question, and I want to pose it to you what pressure situation in sports, would you least want to be a part of right now. Whether it's free throws at the end of a basketball game. Whether it's a penalty kick in soccer field goal to win a game in football. Or like a five foot putt to win the masters. See here's the thing. I heard you guys talking about this. And I found it interesting and standing over five pot while daunting when you're playing golf, it's an individual sport. So you're not letting your teammates down if you missed that pot unless you're in the Ryder Cup, right? And so that's why I think we need to shift the conversation. Yeah. It shouldn't be a five-foot pot. So win the masters was it dry. I get nervous if I'm playing by myself, and I have a five five for birdie. Okay. Or I have ever bar. I'm a nervous wreck trembling standing over that pot. And I wouldn't be standing over a five footer to win the masters, but of all. Scenarios that you guys laid out. I think having a five foot putt to win the Ryder Cup for the United States would be the scenario. I would least water beat and dry. And for this reason, you're taking that part. And who is standing over you watching you take that pot. It's your teammates. It is. Tiger woods. It is Phil Mickelson in his Rickie Fowler in Jordan speed. I would never want to deal with that sort of pressure. Because I am telling you right now, I would cave in the face of that pressure. And I would miss that part. I'd probably three-putt in that scenario. So I think when you have teammates who are counting on you to do something that would be the most pressurized situation can finding gall a five footer to win the Ryder Cup the United States. Yeah. I'm with you one hundred percent because golfers are singular entities right there. Their loan proprietors, their lone wolves. And that's why so many golfers that are really good at winning are terrible at the Ryder Cup because of that pressure because it's completely different. I don't know if you were listening. Earlier, but I talked about the scenario that really got me into golf with the ninety one Ryder Cup the war on the shore between the US and the euros and Bernard longer had a five foot putt for the for the euro's to retain the Cup. And he missed it. And Hale Irwin gave the greatest quote ever in the history of Sports Illustrated. He said the sprinkler factor was high out there. That is you're right. It's the craziest sports Sports Illustrated subsidize perfectly sports. Yes. I listen. So that's that's the only scenario I can come up with because I have said there's a number of times on the show. I wouldn't be nervous taking gonna penalty. I think penalty kicks easy. I really do. I mean, there is no upside off the guy taking the penalty shot in that spot. But I think as a kinda easy fact somewhat. So I challenged the guys they said go get the professional goal by ten penalty case against it professional goalie, I feel like I could get at least a five goals against the professional going down. The guys set it up. They did they actually set it up with the Fort Lauderdale strikers, but I didn't show up because that'll across no shot. There is no shot at you making five shots against the pro got on this one. On this one. I think you could do it. Well, there's the luck factor involved the two things number one. There's a luck factor in with real soccer players number one, Stu gods. You're you're kicking the ball probably at half the speed. Those guys kick it and number two. I would say at least three out of those ten shots. Maybe more you missed the entire goal. And he doesn't even have to make a stop. I mean, I go Joe help me out here. Point blank your point. I don't care who the goalie is right. I'll look to my right, okay. To the left. I don't care about going to the Mike. I am telling you I will get at least five goals off a professional goalie kick a peak at Mike you agree with this. Right. You agree. Absolutely. I think especially in. Listen, stugotz, was a college athlete or and I think you guys are downplaying the upsides to God's has miss situation. It's not an arena he's with. But again, you're going to new space you bring in with it some athletic cachet. There's luck. There's upside it's all in play here was to God's no shot. Stugatz. Listen life is all about expectations that I'm telling you. If I did that no one would expect they would have all the pressures on the Golan because he's a professional, and I'm a professional don't. It's all all the upside is with me. Okay. Because I am the peak as no one's expecting anything for me all the pressures on that goalie and again, it's point blank. And you guys are underestimating my athletic ability, and you have no idea how good of a soccer player. I was when I was nine years old. There is no doubt. All the pressure is on the goalie, and there is no chance where underestimating your. Ride with you can't even say him with you on this athletic ability and stugatz in the same line. How about this all the players? Let's go go back on the baseball field players vote on athletic. The anonymous. Player poll. Thank you player. Full had Bryce Harper. The most overrated player in all of baseball you buy into that. Yeah. I do. And I find it funny. A couple of things I find funny is is will Cain saying he feels bad. It's not fair to Bryce Harper that the players voted him the most overrated player in baseball for the second consecutive season. By the way, sign me up for not fair making three hundred fifty million dollars right now. I will take that right now. I don't care what my peers think about me if I'm making three hundred fifty million dollars. And then I love I think the funny part the other funny part is Bryce Harper pointing to the one MVP season that he had but not in the other seven seasons not to the career to seventy nine average now to the fact that his career Opie as is under nine hundred he doesn't point to those things and listen when you come into the major leagues and your Bryce Harper and all the height and the cover of Sports Illustrated, and everyone's talking about all the upside that Bryce Harper has and you have failed to deliver with the exception of one season you have failed to deliver. And then you sign that contr. For three hundred and fifty million dollars with a career OB. Yes. That is under nine hundred a career batting average that is under two eighty and you've never wanna playoff series. Of course, the rest of the players are going to think you're overrated. They don't think your work that type of money, and quite frankly, you're not now you got it. Because Scott Boras tremendous agent, and you're live off that one year. But there is no question that Bryce Harper when you consider everything the high the outside the three hundred and fifty million dollar contract. All of that stuff. You put it all to a pot when you consider all of that. Yes. Bryce Harper is the most overrated player in baseball. Look, you're worth what someone's willing to pay you. So that's that's the bottom line. So I. I'll try them getting paid. But what comes with that is your peer say, hey, if you're not going to live up how that I don't know how he does. But if you're not going to live up to it, and yeah, we think they're overrated. So I'm all for getting the contract. But I'm also agreeing with the pliers who think he's not worth that contract. All right. Listen to that. That's a that's a that's a fair point to take. But by the way, I have a question for you. Now. How would you rate yourself as a lacrosse analyst says you made your first you made your debut last week in Maryland, North Carolina. How did you do you go Joe was very nice? And I think there's a ton of upside here from you guys like I'm just getting started. I really do like I listen once I get comfortable in that thing. I'm gonna take a flame thrower to those broadcasts. But I'm telling you right now go Joe was very kind on stupidity. He gave me he gave me an eight and a half. I think right Mike for just just sheer lacrosse analysis. And then he downgraded me to a total of six and a half. Because I think we'll go Joe wanted was more Stu gods. He wanted more hot. He wanted me to hot take on North Carolina fire the coach he wanted NC double A tournament hot takes while the broadcast was going on. And he wanted like some K D rants while the broadcast was going on. I was finding my footing. I will get to that stuff. As we move on your hopefully being go Joe are going to the Carolina Notre Dame game. But Mike that's a fair analysis. Right there. Right. You gave me a total of six and a half, which I'll take by the white because listen, I'm all about being slightly above average and six and a half feels slightly above average, still you're smooth as butter in the booth you brought great lacrosse knowledge to and I did the classics to move where I blamed the rest of the booth for it. I said they held Stu gods back. They kept him from being the stugatz that we all know and love which is hot tape machine. Which is a guy who's going to lay everyone and everything to waste in that boots. So I think we can get there eventually though. Got to get you guys. Again. Mike you call the Notre Dame Maryland game called Maryland, North Carolina. So hopefully, the two you'll get together for a game as well. You're also doing that was your debut in the booth for lacrosse, you're making your debut in around the horn any shot you have a win and ethics about that. I've been listening. I it's it's a it's a one day thing for right now. I have no idea I'll ever be invited back but Monday, I am doing around the horn of barracks side got a very much..

"Out there on certain spots for if it's on there for sixty to ninety days, then we're starting to really worry about it. But we're late enough in the season that we're okay. And now that we have another blanket of insulation. That's going to help as well. I'm a big blanket. He'll most of it in my driveway big blanket insulation, right? My driveway the head be dealt with earlier this week. So let's dive into a guys with regard to recent occurrences on the tour. Phil Mickelson won last weekend. I wanted examine that a little bit. Because oddly enough, we talked about it in the initial show of this year, which was last Sunday after Phil won the world golf championship event in Mexico last March that was his first went on tour in five years the forty third win of his career fill God kind of bowl. I'm gonna win fifty tournaments before this thing is all said and done and just a couple of weeks ago. He backed off that prediction might have been a little bit ambitious. And then he goes with within seven days time goes in wins, the AT and T pro am at Pebble Beach two wins for Phil now in less than a calendar year. I'm going to go to both of you guys. But fruit starts out. What does that mean if anything? Well, for one thing, it means that with all our combined experience the three of us and Jimmy to when he was here are lousy progressed. Prognosticators just last week. We all expressed doubts pill would reach fifty wins. As I recall, we all gave him a chance to win once or twice more. Maybe I think I think I got on the record by saying that he was going to win one more tournament. Now for me to be right. He's going to be shut out the rest of his career. I kinda doubtful. That's going to happen. Anyway. Well, we don't know when he's going to retire. I mean, he's got that. Nice long swing. So that's gonna that's gonna add to the long jeopardy a little bit and then agreed short game. But he goes out and post a win the very next week. I mean, what's that mean? Fill Ken in the right circumstances, produce gothic and win golf tournaments. I mean, the poor weather out there the easy whole locations for the first three days of the event. Anyway, when he amateurs were still playing the light. Rough course ity loves no real serious challengers, making a run at him on Sunday hit a deal with Paul Casey, Casey kind of came apart. And he he putted great still putted great now out there. So. Combined all that stuff and Bruce very popular win at pebble. The question of fifty wins. I think is still relevant. But he's one closer. Yeah. That's that's for sure. And you're right. He putted great on Sunday. Final round I shot sixty five seven birdies, no bogeys and really wasn't hitting it completely straight off the tee Michael either a net last round in recovered really well, and we'll talk about his short game. Tune in legacies, and that sort of thing, but so so Mickelson's won a couple of times in the last eleven months. What what does that mean in your in your head means he's playing well? I mean, I don't foresee it that. Oh my gosh. She's on this tremendous Ronnie's going to win five times this season, which he might. I mean, he definitely could his way to pebble. It's the first time he's one on US soil since two thousand thirteen when he wanted Phoenix. So. Yeah. He's he's having a nice resurgence. He's playing. Well. There's no doubt about that. I still think it's going to be very difficult. Once the season is in full swing. He's playing against full fields with all the top golfers that are out there playing and playing at their best. It's gonna be difficult for him to win. And if he said it off lied like you was a little bit. Coming up. Now, the weather was terrible. But the Russ can be a little bit thicker in June, the golf courses and be a little firmer at a little faster. So yeah, you can hit the rough and be able to hit a shot landed on the green and be able to keep it on the green you do that in June. You're not keep you might be able to hit it out of there. But you're not gonna keep it anywhere near the green the references to June that Michael's making their foreshadowing because as it so happens, the United States opened this year is going to be contested at Pebble Beach, and we'll get to it in a minute. Whether pebble in February is what pebble is in June. I think you're making the the the the rate references this Michael this past week on the Monterey peninsula. The weather. Just brutal off. I mean, it went from your like huge high wind store sixty five mile an hour gusts that did a lot of damage to all the the encores amenities stuff with some of the tents blew away. And and that sort of thing complete buckets and buckets buckets of rain, and then a hailstorm that delayed play for a couple of hours all three of those golf courses there in that rotation. We're very very soft. When a golf course gets that soggy, and that soft is there a style of play that really is advantageous to the long hitter. The guy. It was a great great around the greens. Wh what a soft golf course is good for who. I think it's good for the guy who's patient more than anything a guy who doesn't feel like he just is is go go go. You have to be patient. You have to plot. It out a little bit differently because you know, your golf balls not rolling very far. So where's my golf ball off the tee? Where's it gonna fly to how far is it gonna fly? So I can put it in the best spot that I can where sometimes you're playing probably you're playing some of the angles. You're like, hey, if I land my ball somewhere up in here, it's going to roll another twenty thirty yards, and it's gonna add up down on the far left side. Even though I landed up on the right side of the fairway. I mean to use the slope while with all that softness that ball where hits is where it's gonna stay. So you have to really plot out where you're gonna stay so a little bit. Someone is a little bit more patient. Someone is a little bit more of a tactician. I think he can help. I don't think it necessarily makes. Hey because it's softer. It's going to bring the bombers into play a little bit more someone who's hitting who's a very good iron. Player. I think is going to help the most out of anybody because they're going to be able to if they're more precise with their irons where they're ball lands is where it stands so they can really fire at the pin. Interesting for I what do you say about that? Is there anybody that that style of play that really gets helped by that that really super saggy golf course? I think it does help the the longer hitter. Actually, the the guy that hits it high under conditions like this carry distance becomes the primary factor because rolled minimize and big hitters who hit high gain a big advantage. I think not only in distance for the inaccuracy because in effect the golf course gets wider. I mean, we saw we saw film when he was playing those those holes along the cliff on Sunday. They thought he hit it over the cliff down the hill. But it it hitting plugged about the ten yards inside the, you know on on the turf on the top of the didn't go down the hill on in June. Then may well, go down the hill. So I think it does help the guy who can hit it a long way and carry the long way. But. We'll see. I mean, it's coming into the green. It's a, you know, as as Michael said, it the iron player gets helpful the good iron player because I mean, they're basically then playing darts when it's really wet. I mean they can throw it right at the flag. And know what what's going to happen with it? And as we've said, I expect conditions to be much different in June for the US open. I mean, generally June out there. It's it's hot the golf course will be firmed up either by the weather. We're by the US. It'll be dry, and and and it's usually fairly windy at the time of year. So it's going to be totally different golf course. And fill alluded to that on the eighteenth green interview. They ask him this game a lot of confidence for coming into June. He said no do anything to my confidence one way or the other. Because of course, we see in June is going to be totally different than the one that we just played now. Michael. Yeah. Just thinking, you know. Yeah. You wanna hit it high? You know, if it's off so you can maximize your your carry. But when the winds blowing forty miles an hour, you're trying to keep it out of the wind as well. So you're kind of stuck in the middle of what you're trying to do. I couldn't believe that some of the guys they were trying to finish because they knew they had to go play. The other golf course. And they got the guys out there with the squeegees squeezing off their pods. And I'm like just come back the next day. But otherwise, they're back early boom. Then there in the car, they gotta drive over to the other. Right. That's that's interesting. And so the lift clean and place for forgot. I mean, you can get a perfect lie at that point. Guys. They were they were really hitting some shots that were close final round. Oh, without a doubt. Yeah. When you can when you can clean your golf ball. And you know, that mud's not going to be a factor. That's a big factor. You'll find at Augusta too because they don't they don't like to do the lift clean a place at a cost if they don't have to and you can get some mud balls. You don't know what's going to happen fruit. Fill is going to be forty nine during the US open. I think it's his birthday the sixteenth of June and it gets on Sunday. Yeah. It's right. It's the final round of of the US open this year, usually guys who are approaching fifty. Sometimes don't have the nerves. Sometimes they've lost a little bit of the touch that they once had around the greens on the greens. I want Mickelson's right though. He's kind of a magician and a surgeon in that short game kind of all rolled into one. It certainly was on display in the final round of this AT and T tournament. Is it too much hype to say that the guy if not the best short game of all time? He's like in the top two or three. Oh, I think I think for sure he's in the top two or three. I'd have trouble arguing that number one. I mean, I have a hard time sitting here thinking and and saying who who am I going to rank ahead of him. And I maybe I'm just drawing a blank there. But you know, tiger in his prime certainly had game. I mean, he's almost been known for it. I mean, he had to be because he tends to spread around quite a bit. But I I looked up the sets after I saw this question. And I looked up the stats and the corner of the thing that I looked at he went from eighteen to forty fifth in scrambling last week. Possibly be right. I didn't see what he did this the other four other three rounds. Maybe according to this. He backed up the you backed up, you know, twenty spots almost, but but anyway, there's there's no doubt that almost every tour player would gladly trade their own short came for fills. Although tiger might be close my, but but for long term excellence you'd be hard for us to come up with anyone but fill in this category. Tiger does a great short game is also a great pottery, which is a great combo. And you know, what else Michael with Mickelson? It's the imagination and the guts are on the green to pull us shot. I mean, he serve glorified that flop-shot sort of thing where or idiots like me. Gordon, the golf course had tried to do that with a lot less success. Well, no, absolutely. Yeah. He's definitely perfected that. I mean, when you can stay on, you know, five feet in front of many hits a lob wedge right over the top of your head. Is Atlanta soft is is is. Pretty unbelievable. Yeah. His chipping in his imagination. When he gets into trouble is better than anybody. Why wouldn't rake him at number one? And I don't know who I would. I would I would probably put tiger up there more. Because when it really means something when he has to get it up and down tiger gets it up and down. Phil might hit a tremendous wedge shot in there. But he might miss the four-footer, you know, so I wouldn't put him at number one. But he's definitely in the conversation. So his last four trips to pebble Mickelson has two seconds in a win the US Open's there. It's going to be a different golf course. I know in June in February. But he's he's a US open wind shore of a career slam. Michael is this the year or not? It's definitely a good opportunity for me. It's probably the best. It's the best opportunity. He's going to have in the next twenty years. So he might as well try and take advantage of it. And he could downplay it and say, yeah, you know, hey, this has nothing to do with June and everything like that. But you if you have success at a golf course, and you you've played well there. I don't care if the conditions are easier or harder you can play while there because you have confidence. Absolutely. I think that's absolutely correct. I, you know, the the oldest US open winner. I think if memory serves as Hale Irwin, and he was like forty five or something be maybe it was forty six but Mickelson might be one of the best late forties. Golfers in the history of the game from where I sit I wouldn't make this an impossibility that he gets a decent shot at winning one more US open. But it's gotta be soon. Wouldn't you agree? I would agree..

"Is in in real good shape. And for those of you who heard our Dennis O'Donnell interview, thanks to Dennis for calling in. And we talked about if Phil were to win the US open here at pebble in in June. He would in fact be the oldest winner in that. He would be forty nine that day and thanks to Darren Shan and also David in Windsor for Chirpin that Hale Irwin at forty five years of age is the is the current oldest winner of the open. I believe he's got three opens to his to his. Credit? So so good stuff there. Thanks Darren and David up in Windsor as well. So so cool stuff cool stuff there. And while sure would be something to fill were to win it. He's got to work on that driver. Because these these fairways. They end up playing wider when they're wet. Because if you hit a ball that might bounce into the rough here, it's not going to and in fills had some pretty wayward shots that would be some big trouble in the US Open's, and you get around these greens with the US open rough, and you'll know that when the openness here in June that they will have some very very gnarly rough. Because that's the way that they defend a shorter a shorter golf course shorter holes, they would really toughened up the the rough situation. So you know, that'll be that'll be a real curious thing to see how that how that all shakes out. So if you do miss these small old, traditional greens. You know, you're gonna have your work cut out for you, so filled needs to tighten up the driver in and get it going straight here. So and we've got Paul Casey and Phil or a number thirteen. Now the uphill whole heading back in toward the club. House Mickelson is driven it in the fairway, and I believe Casey has as well. He may just be in the edge of the rough. And it's really looking more like the Phil show at this point. And and and he's one here before, and you know, he's carried this coin from his grandfather Santos who caddied here in his youth. So so really pretty cool. Pretty cool story of fill were to win again. And. Really, really great great stuff here. The originally announcement again about tomorrow for those of you who maybe you're just kidding in the car to to drive home, and they had I think they had high hopes a couple of hours ago three hours ago to to have this finished. But at four o'clock the tournament office sent out the.
